DraftKings. The crown is yours to do Do Do Do
Do Do Do Do Do Do Do.

Speaker 1 (00:55):
We got a lot to get to today, a lot,
and I think some of it's gonna be looking back
at last night, some be looking forward to today. But man,
last night was fun. I just I enjoyed a great deal.
I'm sure Jay Stu is gonna pick it apart and

(01:15):
be a curmudgeon about it. And I'm guessing Dan is
laughing and smiling because you know he has this fantasy pod.
He knows all this stuff kind of cold and it's
interesting on just how it's always like you make predictions
about things, and I wonder.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
How much of them came to play.

Speaker 1 (01:32):
But for me, like I don't know to flip on
a game, know what time it's coming on. It's also
different now I'm Central time zone, just different than West
Coast time zone. Some of it good, some of it bad.
But it was here in northeastern Wisconsin. We had kind
of a front go through like a day and a
half ago, so it was windy and rainy. It just
felt like football season.

Speaker 3 (01:54):
And I was like.

Speaker 1 (01:55):
Yeah, and then you had the familiarity of not just
Mahomes on the Mark Jackson, but they.

Speaker 2 (02:01):
Also played to their SKYD report.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
Right, Like mahomes first half interception was just him being
loose with the football. He gave the Ravens another opportunity.
And here's the like the frustration with Collinsworth as a broadcaster.
Collinsworth as calls a hell of a game, but his
lack of any sort of desire to give very reasonable

(02:26):
criticism of Mahomes is weird, Like that last throw the
Mahomes had that we crossed his body had he simply
planned his feet and felt pump faked and thrown the
football to the left.

Speaker 2 (02:37):
The Chiefs win going away.

Speaker 1 (02:40):
Instead, he gets the ball deflected, great play by the defenses.
He's off balance, makes the throw, can't stop himself, throws
it into a deflection and ends up catching his own football.

Speaker 2 (02:51):
And the Ravens give us everything we wanted, which was.

Speaker 1 (02:53):
You know, first, you know, last play, four seconds to go,
scramble round, throw it up back of the end zone. Catch,
looked like he was in, and then he just had
just a tow out of bounds. Couldn't have been at
any better for the league. But if you were to
give a scattering report on Pat Mahomes, you would have said,
incredibly talented, finds a way to win games. He'll drive

(03:14):
you crazy because for whatever reason, he'll just make a
careless or don't give a you know what mistake. But
you want to be careful how much you reel in
those mistakes, because that creativity allows him to be great.
And the Chiefs as a team last couple of years,
kind of play with their food, right, they have a
big lead, should put them away.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
Don't to drop touchdown passes.

Speaker 1 (03:35):
Meanwhile, Lamar Jackson, we were told last year, whole new offense.
This year added Derrick Henry. Want to give him so
he doesn't have to run. He has somebody else who
can run. But Dereck Henry couldn't get going. And Lamar
Jackson was spectacular. And when people say Lamar can't throw,
it doesn't mean he can't throw. It just means that
on the random second down when he guys has a
guy running wide open to the end zone, sometimes they'll

(03:55):
airmail it. And he does that a higher percentage of
time than anybody else else who's a quality starting quarterback
in the NFL. On the other hand, he's a freaker
athlete than anybody who's ever started in the NFL, and
he can throw some unbelievab footballs. I thought that game
played right to its stereotype, including you know, obviously some
miss miss it's not off sides, it's an illegal procedure

(04:21):
with the with the Chiefs right tackle being in the backfield.
There's other thoughts where the Chiefs get.

Speaker 2 (04:28):
Away with holding it home, they get away with murder.

Speaker 1 (04:30):
Lamar Jackson spectacle, their best town in the field, but
he's just not a consistent thrower. Pat Mahomes plays with
his food, but at the end of the game, you'd
much rather have Pat Mahomes than anybody else. And as
as careless as he can be in the they can be.
You tell me who's going to actually beat them when
they come to the playoffs. I don't know if anybody can.
Did I miss anything? Dan Byer, Did I miss anything?

(04:51):
Jason Stewart? Did I miss anything?

Speaker 2 (04:53):
Chris Burphett?

Speaker 4 (04:54):
I hope so, because it sicks after Okay, here's the
funny thing that I thought of last night was there
was something that happened in the game that I thought
that we would surely talk about today. And I don't
think it was going to be the national talk, but
I thought that it definitely would be a topic of conversation.

(05:16):
And we fell so quickly back into football mode after
sixty minutes of Game one of the twenty twenty four season.
Because we're talking about the greatness of the Chiefs, we're
talking about Lamar Jackson and his ability or inability to
make the throws when he needed but did you.

Speaker 5 (05:35):
Guys notice the kickoffs the Chiefs?

Speaker 4 (05:38):
They just kicked it out of the end zone, which
is something that Sean Payton brought up throughout the throughout
the preseason. He did not think that the thirty yard
line advancement was going to deter teams from doing so.
And Andy Reid showed it last night. Harrison Bucker just
kicked it out of the end zone in Boom and
Justin Tucker may not be Justin Tucker anymore, but that
would be for a different day.

Speaker 6 (05:59):
I think.

Speaker 2 (06:00):
I actually think that today is that day.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
And it's interesting because I was sitting with my boss,
with Josh Moon, and he was we were talking about
or he was on the phone with me and he
was doing a fantasy draft whatever and he was drafting
a kicker and I was like, tell me, you're in
the last round. He's like, oh, I'm in the second
last round. I'm gonna take Harrison Butcher. I was like, well,
that's a great pick. He's a good He's He's like,
oh wait, I got Justin Tucker.

Speaker 2 (06:22):
I was like, I don't it. Is Justin Tucker still awesome?
And last night he was not.

Speaker 1 (06:27):
And he's been the best kicker in the league up
until the past couple of years, and it did feel
like last night was a Hey, if you don't pay
attention to these things, you may not realize that Justin
Tucker still really good, but not what he used to be.

Speaker 4 (06:41):
Yeah, those are those are kind of my minor takeaways,
you know, from from what I thought could be a
topic of discussion, but it ends up just to me
just going back to Lamar, and I felt like I've
been a Lamar defender and I don't know how last
night it would be is a tough night for the
people in my camp. You take dump offs all the

(07:04):
way down the field, so it does appear that you're
moving down the field, but the Chiefs are cunding and
letting him have it. They couldn't get after him. Lamar
looked great in eluding that pressure, but when he needed
to make the throw in the field was shrunk twenty
yards and yeah, you don't have any timeout so you
can't run It was Yeah, that was that was tough.

(07:27):
That was tough for my camp. That says, yeah, no, Lamar,
Lamar as he is is fine. You can win a
Super Bowl. You just have to have some things go
your way and maybe you have to have you know
your token and bounds. But the first two throws in
that scenario one that was tough, you.

Speaker 2 (07:44):
Just weren't good enough.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
I mean, it's okay, and it's okay for people to say, hey,
that's not good enough. It's just not to be considered
one of the elites of the game, and he's an elite.
As a run like that in a nutshell was the
biggest fear. Like he's been better than anyone thought he
could be. But they weren't totally wrong with their perception

(08:08):
of Lamar Jackson, which is like, it's really good, but
me and can you win when it really matters? Last
night they could not.

Speaker 4 (08:16):
I don't even think the thought process with the two
likely throws, like Isaiah likely is a tall receiver, a
tall tight end, he's going to have a size advantage. Yeah,
take advantage to throw it up to him. But the
first one where I think we thought that Isaiah likely
was going to miss six weeks because of his shoulder
injury and was in six seconds later after the next play.

(08:38):
But on that throw, there was so much of the
end zone that is wide open that I wondered if
Lamar was just throwing it away. And then he wasn't
because he was throwing it up to Likely. But in
that position, if you would have seen him, maybe just
throw to allow Likely to come back to the pylon.
There was so much room before him where he could
have curled in and had the touchdown. So instead of

(08:59):
just over throwing him and throwing it up high because
I'm gonna throw it up high because likely he's the
only one that can get it, it ends up going
over his head and he gets pushed out of bounds
and almost gets hurt.

Speaker 5 (09:10):
Correct.

Speaker 1 (09:11):
Correct, you gotta throw it. It's the right throws to
throw it so only he can get it. He just
airmailed it. And you know, I continue to understand, and
I Dan, you and I were working together at the
time when he wasn't drafted you know, by an By,
even by the Ravens in the first round. You know,
there's all this talk about it, and like, look, if

(09:32):
you watch the tape, you remember him against Mississippi State
in his last bowl game. He was so inaccurate, and
it was inaccurate and throws like that. He actually throws
a nice deep ball, you know, throws a nice de ball.
It's the short underneath the intermediate stuff where he just
hasn't had the adept touch.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
And you kind of got to play around it.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
It's okay, like, look, not all these guys have flaws,
you know. Aaron Rodgers' flaw was always is he just
wanted to play backyard football. He get out of a
play too quick. Tom Brady couldn't move. Now, Tom Brady
was on his spot and he got rid of it quick,
but he couldn't move.

Speaker 2 (10:08):
So if you if you could.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Get to his spot and make him move, he was
not the same player. Lamar Jackson, he's as electric and
runner as we've ever seen. And it's not that they
can't throw a football, but he just has these bouts
of inaccuracies at untimely moments, which which which undo them.
Here's Lamar Jackson when he's asked if Kansas City is
a scrypt Nite, you call.

Speaker 3 (10:29):
Kansas City or Kryptonite.

Speaker 7 (10:31):
Who passes my kryptin Knight is not my chrisminal Knight.
It's not my kriminal Knight.

Speaker 3 (10:34):
Okay. So is that last drive getting your encouragement or
is it believe you frustrated that you.

Speaker 7 (10:39):
Were two inches short the whole game give me encouragement,
you know, because I believe I gots a fight, and
you know, unfortunately, we had penalties every time we had
almost an explosive. Every time we had an explosive, we
had a penalty right after that. So it was like
it's hard to get into groove, you know, our offense
battle and we bout a three to four quarter. Unfortunately
we don't.

Speaker 3 (10:58):
These ugly games.

Speaker 7 (10:59):
We got to overcome him, and I felt like we
did a great job at that, you know, just coming
down in the red zone ten yard line wherever it
was to last lay.

Speaker 2 (11:09):
He was asked about the last catch of the game.

Speaker 3 (11:12):
I thought I was the touchdown man. He was just open.

Speaker 7 (11:15):
And what I'm saying thirty two and twenty was like
turning to like pursue him when he realized what the
ball was going. So I threw out, threw what so
he can like make a play on it, so I
don't throw it like a line job at him the
face mask, and they turned around and picked the ball.
So I gave him, give them balls so he can
jump a little bit. But I thought he did a
great job acrobatic catching. I believe it was two feet down.

Speaker 1 (11:38):
Now that part I just I can't get behind right
Like then the replay was conclusive. His toe was out
a back. This is like a world's flat thing, Like
what are we actually doing here?

Speaker 3 (11:54):
All he has to.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Say is, man, I mean we're like one centimeter from
from going for two, you know, and having a chance
to win a game on one play, but instead, like I.

Speaker 2 (12:05):
Believe you got to like what do you touch?

Speaker 1 (12:06):
Video evidence that no one even was an Ardent Ravens
fan in their heart of hearts doesn't think was that
a bounce?

Speaker 3 (12:13):
I admit on Twitter, I had effect.

Speaker 5 (12:15):
Here, by the way, Christopher joining the show go ahead, Chris, Yeah,
I had.

Speaker 8 (12:19):
I had a moment of reaction where I'm like online
where I'm like, by rule of cool, that should be
a touchdown. But I think it's different when fans are
sitting around saying, oh that sucks that it's not a touchdown,
to the players themselves afterwards, like complaining that it's not
a touchdowns, like you should know the rule. It's clearly
not a touchdown. I don't know why this is up

(12:41):
for debate at all.

Speaker 5 (12:44):
It's just there and deny it.

Speaker 4 (12:45):
Yeah, they don't want to admit they feel that they
were job by the officiating last night. Again, Lamar says,
they're not they're kryptonite.

Speaker 1 (12:57):
What are we doing. You don't want to say kryptonite again?
Like fine, by the way, if that's your kryptonite, somebody's
calling you superman, right sure, yeah again, you can take
any of these things and make it a new positive.
And oh yeah, by the way, the numbers tell you
they're you're kryptonite. You're not the same player against the

(13:17):
Chiefs you are against the rest of the league.

Speaker 4 (13:20):
This is and this I think their own mistakes are
what is catching up with them and make it and
make them give the responses that they're giving again Zay
Flowers fumble at the goal line in allowing you know,
the Chiefs to help win that AFC championship game to
last night, an inch away of not getting the foot

(13:42):
in bounds or a penalty here or a penalty there.
It's a much easier to point the finger and say,
all right, we've done all the work. It's just somebody
else screwing us. Then realizing that the last point two
of that twenty six point two marathon is probably the
toughest and they just aren't there yet, and there's and

(14:03):
I don't know if they can get there. There was
a point when I thought that they did. But again,
it's not a great day for my Lamar Jackson can
lead a team and win a Super Bowl just for
the that drive is everything to it. But was that
first and goal from the ten yard line with no
timeouts the kryptonite?

Speaker 5 (14:21):
Maybe? So I'll leave with much more questions than answers.

Speaker 1 (14:26):
But that that has always been my argument, And this
is you can go back to I can't remember if
we were I think we were talking about when I
was at ESPN a long time ago. It was the
I remember the two quarterbacks. It was would you rather
have Mike Vick or Carson Palmer? Mike Vick or Carson Palmer.

(14:48):
And my argument, this was before Mike got in trouble, Mark
was no matter how And I love Mike Vick like
I know him as a guy.

Speaker 2 (14:55):
He's awesome as a player. Like I was in college
when he was in college.

Speaker 1 (14:59):
There's zero human beings who were in college that time
who did think Mike Vick was awesome?

Speaker 2 (15:04):
Right, he just jumped off the screen.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
But I said it then and I was just like, look,
end of the day, I take Carson Palmer six days
a week and twice on Sunday. Why the best thing
he does is from the pocket, and championships are one
from the pocket. And until that changes, I'm not changing.
And that's what's happened, so we can say, I mean,
they changed offensive coordinators, they changed styles, they changed running backs,

(15:33):
they changed wide receivers, they've done everything, and Lamar is
still an unbelievable talent. And that's good enough against ninety
percent of the league, but not against the teams that
you need to be to get the Super Bowl.

Speaker 2 (15:48):
Here's Pat Mahomes talking about the final play of the game.

Speaker 6 (15:51):
Definitely nerve wracking. I mean just I mean, could it
look good from my angle on the sideline, But then
the first view you saw you could see the cleat.
So that's a great football team. And I'm sure we'll
see him again at some point in the playoffs. So
now we're happy with the win now and we're white
cleats next time. That's that's my that's my advice for him.

Speaker 2 (16:09):
It's a great line.

Speaker 1 (16:10):
Here's Isaiah Likely talking about the Chiefs.

Speaker 2 (16:14):
This is probably the words the game.

Speaker 5 (16:15):
We don't play all year.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
So this is their best that they got good luck
in the.

Speaker 5 (16:19):
Postseason the Ravens do.

Speaker 2 (16:23):
They are bitter.

Speaker 1 (16:24):
Betty's about a lot of stuff, right, Like if you
ask them today, they weren't beaten.

Speaker 2 (16:31):
They lost. They gave away the game.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
And that's to your point, Dan, that's like there there's
some accuracy to that should be pointing out. The Chiefs
drop two balls in the Inzi touchdown balls, but the
if that's their best game, Like, I don't know. I
understand that Mahomes has the Super Bowls, so he can

(16:53):
be confident and he can give you the aw shucks
and he can give the respect to the other team.
But I also think there's something to it into the
mentality and this is why the Ravens, you know, they
keep coming up short and they're in denial of why
they keep coming up short.

Speaker 9 (17:09):

Speaker 2 (17:45):
We're going to bring it back.

This show is sponsored by DraftKings. Stay tuned, you'll hear

so these are picks that if we were a gambler

(18:07):
and we had a guy that we could call about
a game, this would be the.

Speaker 2 (18:11):
Game that we would make the call about. Let's play it.

Speaker 3 (18:28):
Who Do Do Do?

Speaker 5 (18:29):
Do?

Speaker 3 (18:29):
Do Do?

Speaker 1 (18:30):
Okay, So it's one of the great songs of our lifetime.
The late great Kenny Rogers, he began to speak son,
I made a life out of reading people's faces and
knowing what the cards were by the way they held

(18:50):
their eyes. So, if you don't mind me saying, I
can see you're out of vases for a shot of
your whiskey. Sorry, we shall whiskey. So I handed him
my bottle drank down my last swallow. See, most people
don't know these words. It is an expertly written song.

Speaker 3 (19:13):
And by the way, legendary Doug, you've reached Big Mike's threshold. Uh.
You know, Big Mike's got a bunch of pet peeves
around here. He's a guy that runs everything around here.
He doesn't like singing on the earth, and he certainly
doesn't like reading lyrics on the air. So threshold, Big Mic.

Speaker 10 (19:31):
No, when to walk away, no when to run? Never
count show money when you sit in me time enough
accounting and then it's done.

Speaker 4 (19:46):
It does allow me to say one of my favorite
websites that I don't know if it's in existence and
I don't want to do it on a work computer
was a site that was dedicated to men who looked
like Kenny Rogers.

Speaker 5 (19:59):
And it was a amazing it truly is.

Speaker 4 (20:02):
You know, I may even just throw caution to the wind,
because something like that has to have staying power. And
it was just collections of guys with salt and pepper
beards or just fully white beards.

Speaker 5 (20:15):
Great stuff. Not Santa like, but Kenny Rogers like.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
Big Mike just stop by to give his input on
this whole segment.

Speaker 2 (20:22):
By the way, what was his input?

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Two hands and a certain motion at the window, the
one finger gesture.

Speaker 1 (20:30):
Yeah, all right, So what's your pick of the weekend?
That's basically it is. I got one, and I feel
pretty confident about it. You know, we made some of
our NFL picks going back to yesterday. I love Atlanta

(20:51):
over Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (20:53):
I just do.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
I don't think Pittsburgh is great. I don't think they
have any sort of offense figured out. And it's not
that I think at Lanta did a great job drafting,
but I think they were I thought they were a
quarterback away. Kirk Cousins at home in a dome, in
a non you know, primetime game, seems like a layup to.

Speaker 4 (21:09):
Me, all right, his next, Doug, who you passing the
hot potato?

Speaker 5 (21:21):
Too? What do we got?

Speaker 2 (21:22):
I don't have to just you getting whatever you Let's
let's go to you, dan By.

Speaker 4 (21:25):
All right, Okay, I already have buyer's remorse and we're
not even a weekend to the NFL season.

Speaker 3 (21:32):
Buyer's remorse. I got that one.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
I picked the Cincinnati Bengals to win the AFC North,
and I picked Joe Burrow to win MVP. I did,
and to see how this first week is gone. Because
there are different layers to this, this Bengals conversation. And
I can't think that Jamar Chase and T Higgins's main

(21:56):
goal is winning a Super Bowl this year. I think
their main goal is. Chase is to get paid, as
we've seen throughout training camp, and Higgins is probably to
stay as healthy as he can so he can get
paid next year as he's playing on the franchise tag.
None of those are I want to win a ring
in Cincinnati. And so the Bengals came in as a

(22:19):
eight point favorite this week against the New England Patriots,
and we think New England's going to be bad. But
if you have Chase limited, Tee Higgins is now doubtful,
and a team that I don't know how motivated they are,
I think the Patriots can at least hang around against Cincinnati.
So give me the Patriots it's down to seven and
a half. But give me New England plus seven and

(22:40):
a half against Cincinnati right now. Just not getting great
vibes from what the Bengals are laying down.

Speaker 3 (22:46):
Okay, I have so many thoughts about that. Jamar Chase thing.
You talked to any you just talked to Mark Dominic
last hour, Okay, any front office, NFL exuch, and any
agent would tell you that the only leverage that a
player has is to not play. Okay, he is gonna
be He's gonna set the market, so he has he

(23:07):
also has an obligation to his union. He's going to
set the market. So to hold out only to say
I'm going to play during my hold out, I think
it's an injustice to his union.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Hmmm, that is I don't I don't think so. I
think he's going to play. He's going to get a
new contract before he's playing. But they all play when
they're under a new contract, when they're under an old contract. Jason,
he's under contract. He's not doing anything.

Speaker 3 (23:37):
Everybody sets the market. He's gonna set the market.

Speaker 5 (23:41):
Okay.

Speaker 2 (23:42):
So why.

Speaker 1 (23:44):
She is that he's going to play on a new
contract and then get it, I don't know. I actually
think it's a better part for the story, which is
like he's not gonna miss any games because he knows
he's eventually going to get paid the right amount.

Speaker 2 (23:54):
They just haven't gotten there yet.

Speaker 3 (23:56):
I mean, if if his whole thing was I'm just
going to play out the season and negotiate during the
season or whatever. But he specifically held out or held
in during the preseason, and he's going to be the
guy that sets the market, so everybody will get paid
more money after he makes what he makes. I just
think he has more of an obligation and this is
more of a disservice to his union than people are talking.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
I think that's actually a fair assessment. We've seen it before,
but usually it's with rookies holding out and not signing
the rookie deal, and then the Vets say, we'll get
into camp rookie because you haven't done anything in this league,
and it's kind of glossed over. But Chase does have
equity in the league part of the CBA. He can
now negotiate after three years. But Dougi, as you point out,

(24:40):
with quarterbacks, they're under team control for a lot longer.
He at least will be under Bengals control for the
next two years with his rookie deal and the picking
up of the fifth year option, So the Bengals really
have no need to give him that sort of deal
considering he's going to be under contract with them for
the next two years. But it is interesting to what

(25:02):
Jason is saying because Chase even said today that when
a reporter asked him, are you gonna get a penny
more than Justin Jefferson, and he said he was gonna
get a bleep more than Justin Jefferson. So again, not
good for a team that is trying to get to
the super Bowl when all we're talking about is dollar signs.

Speaker 3 (25:19):
And buyer's remorse. I love buyer's remorse. We gotta get
some imaging for that, Okay, pet I could go two
different ways on this.

Speaker 8 (25:32):
I usually think Week one is usually a good time
to just start pounding overs. If I ever see a
high total in the NFL, it's just like, oh yeah,
go go under, And like Texans at Colts to start
the year under forty eight and a half sounds good,
But I'm actually gonna go towards this particular matchup is
interesting to me. Steelers at Falcons this has been These
are two teams that both kind of stumbled into bizarre

(25:57):
quarterback controversies and very different ways. You know, if Atlanta
hands a massive fortune to Kirk Cousins then drafts Michael Pennix,
the Steelers get both Russell Wilson and Justin Fields, and
both teams seem to like, we know that Russell Wilson
and Kirk Cousins are starting, but always the question is
for how long? In both of these cases here, I mean,

(26:19):
I think a little more immediate for Pittsburgh. I think
they want to hold Pennix back as long as they can.
But I just think this sounds like it's gonna be
rough off the front. And when you're handing me Steelers
plus three and a half, I really want to lean
that way, especially when you're giving me a hook on
top of everything. I just thinks as prolific as the
Falcons offense is going to be, it just screams that

(26:42):
it's going to take some time to really gel together.
But Kirk Cousins in the driver's seat, So give me
Pittsburgh plus three and a half.

Speaker 2 (26:49):
Wow? You like the other side of that?

Speaker 5 (26:51):
Oh yeah, I love. We've had three picks.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
And Chris went against Dougs like he just threw caution
to the wind.

Speaker 2 (26:59):
That's okay, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
No, I just there's I just there's nothing that I've
seen from Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
You know.

Speaker 1 (27:06):
I don't like their offensive line it's new week one
of the season, and Russell Wilson hasn't played with them
in the preseason and he's ippy.

Speaker 2 (27:13):
I just I don't like it.

Speaker 3 (27:15):
Guys, this the screams of a wager.

Speaker 5 (27:17):
Are you taking the over under in Pittsburgh Atlanta?

Speaker 8 (27:21):
No?

Speaker 4 (27:21):
That that that's so I'm asking Jason? Is that your
gambler going to be Jason over under? So all of
our gamblers are focused on Steve Lizzen.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
I think whoever wins this bet buys lunch on Monday,
Chris and and Doug.

Speaker 5 (27:36):
Hey game with that. I have no part of it.

Speaker 3 (27:40):
Doug, it's organic, so it'll cost Chris a little bit more.

Speaker 2 (27:43):
No, so what is it I buy lunch, you buy lunch.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
For Chris on Monday, or you buys lunch for you?

Speaker 5 (27:47):
Oh, I thought the show. Now I don't care as much.

Speaker 1 (27:54):
Well, I buy for the show, but I have to
there has to be some sort of equal to you know,
is that fifty sixty dollars?

Speaker 4 (28:01):
My favorite was when Doug got us wings and asked
us our favorite flavors, and then we had we had
barbecue buffalo, and then you came in with like five
buffalo you had yours you love lemon pepper and salt
and vinegar. He was, yeah, he was, you were covered,
but we only had we had five of like hours.
Oh good, guys, I.

Speaker 2 (28:21):
Don't recall it being that bad.

Speaker 5 (28:23):
I think, I know, I.

Speaker 1 (28:26):
Think, I think I know you are. I think what
happened though, was I got enough wings for us. And
then you know, Cabino and Rich they have like fifteen
people that come in and they just filch snacking, and
you know, and listen, we've all been there before. Right like,
once you pick up a wing boneless or which is
a nugget or or traditional, it's hard to put him.

Speaker 5 (28:47):
Down, by the way put him down.

Speaker 4 (28:49):
Kenny Rodgers is making a mint right now on this segment.
This song is only like what it's only twelve to
fifty No, no, a little.

Speaker 3 (29:00):
Over three, but yeah, you're right. An extended version like
a club mix version.

Speaker 11 (29:06):
The Kenny Rodgers estates really good. The bucks to absolve myself.
I'm worrying about how much I might have just spent.
I'll take the I'll take the under forty and a
half in in Texans cults, I'll be the coward and
back away.

Speaker 5 (29:19):
Oh whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, So now you've changed coward coward.

Speaker 3 (29:24):
I am a coward, okay, I am a total coward.
I like self preservation.

Speaker 2 (29:30):
Okay. So what is our bet on this?

Speaker 3 (29:32):
No bet. He backed out of it. He's on a budget,
Doug not. Everyone could have two jobs.

Speaker 8 (29:38):
Listen my energy bill alone right now. This summer is
going to be.

Speaker 2 (29:43):
How hot was it at your house?

Speaker 3 (29:45):
Like one hundred and fifteen?

Speaker 2 (29:47):
What about you?

Speaker 3 (29:47):
Dan?

Speaker 5 (29:50):
It was.

Speaker 4 (29:51):
I didn't get home until later, but it was like
one hundred and ten.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
Yeah, it was. It was up there that night.

Speaker 4 (29:59):
It was at nine o'clock at night. It was ninety degrees,
which is not normal.

Speaker 8 (30:05):
I left for work at like eight am and it
was already ninety three in the foothill.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Yeah, listen, this is Oklahoma in the summer. Basically, you
guys are experiencing for a week. So crime you a
river a little bit. You know, we had we had
a little rain last night and we got some clouds
in the sky. You guys are gonna win ninety percent
of the time, but you're losing right now.

Speaker 2 (30:25):
I think it's time to sing.

Speaker 5 (30:27):
Did Jason make a pick?

Speaker 2 (30:29):
No, No, jays gotta make a pick.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
I want to make sure that I'm consistent for our listeners,
because there are listeners right now thinking I remember the
Gambler and it doesn't have to be NFL, it could
be anything on the weekend.

Speaker 5 (30:42):
Correct, Yes, okay, I.

Speaker 3 (30:44):
Just wanted to make sure I deliver some consistency for
our listeners. With that said, I need you all to
run to the beding window. This is the early college
games tonight. Run to the bedding window. I'm going to
give you my Jays stut team parlatt j two team
parlay is you get two winners and if you win
them both, you get a lot of money. I'm going

(31:07):
to take s m U over b y U. S
m U is yeah, f SMU is giving twelve points
to BYU tonight in the early window. And I'll tell
you just one thing about by U. BYU fans, Jim
McMahon is not walking through that door. The parlay. The

(31:28):
Jay's two team parlay includes another team, which is going
to be Indiana. Indiana is laying forty four and a
half to Western Illinoy tonight. Anyone who watched Western Illinois
last year, they were a train wreck. I watched all
their games. Indiana to s m U your JSTWO team parlay.

(31:49):
You could thank me on Monday.

Speaker 5 (31:51):
Waiting to run up.

Speaker 1 (32:06):
I enjoyed that the singing, not all of the all
the all the other stops do gottleep show here on
Fox Sports Radio. Although, man, that was a quick little
back down there from you, Chris Prefett.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
I mean, I just I was.

Speaker 1 (32:19):
I'm surprised, surprised the Detroit didn't. You usually would go
I'm strong and wrong, but you chose to just be wrong,
not strong.

Speaker 8 (32:26):
In this case, I choose. I choose as soon as
I heard or you order organic. I chose self preservation.

Speaker 9 (32:32):

The crown is yours? Got a little candle is kennle
box kendle box? Right?

Speaker 8 (32:57):
This is three doors down, three doors down? Yeah, but
it's Krypton. I just you know.

Speaker 2 (33:01):
I knew that, Yes, yes, I did. Know that that
was a So I didn't know that.

Speaker 3 (33:05):
Yeah.

Speaker 2 (33:05):
Three doors down?

Speaker 3 (33:06):
Yeah, I actually forgot this myself.

Speaker 1 (33:09):
No, No, that's three doors down, Kryptonit is three doors down,
not this door. Three doors down? Do I count the
first door?

Speaker 2 (33:14):
And I count? I don't know three doors down?

Speaker 3 (33:15):
You're starting at door zero or door one?

Speaker 2 (33:17):
Yeah? Who did I see? I saw?

Speaker 1 (33:21):
Lincoln Park has a new lead singer. It's a chick
and she's really good. But it's just hard to tell
how to go, Like, okay, these are the same Lincoln
Park songs solmnly they debuted last night, but with a
different lead singer is so odd.

Speaker 3 (33:32):
They should call they should rename the band of pinkin Park.
It's a literation and there's a female lead singer.

Speaker 5 (33:39):
Also other controversies coming with that.

Speaker 3 (33:42):
It's just it's just hard to replace anyone.

Speaker 2 (33:43):
What are the other controversy I'm not aware of. I'm
just tell me.

Speaker 4 (33:48):
She is a scientologist and uh vouched for Danny Masterson
during his uh rape trial. So there's some uh yes,
some some backlash from various people on social media.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
Some other stuff.

Speaker 1 (34:04):
Didn't know that Doug otlib show here on Fox Sports Radio.
We won't get into scientology today's show.

Speaker 2 (34:09):
I don't. I think that'd probably be a.

Speaker 5 (34:11):
Hey, you asked for the backlash.

Speaker 2 (34:12):
No I did. I'm not yet.

Speaker 1 (34:14):
No, I'm not bringing Backlass Chedile. I'm just saying we're
not going to dive in, dive in deep. That'll be
the podcast, right, we'll do the podcast. We'll do that
on the Saturday podcast. We don't have a Saturday podcast
as you do.

Speaker 2 (34:25):
This is this is the new and improved Doug.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
Is what I'm trying to point out, Dan Byer that
normally I would go into the I would go into scientology.
That's the deal with scientology. But instead I'll bringing Mark Dominick.
You spent over twenty years in the NFL front offices
and scouting, former gentlem manager of the Tampay Buccaneers. Okay,
if we take off all of the armor and the

(34:48):
reputation and we just say, hey, Lamar Jackson, the player,
the guy who's done this his entire professional career.

Speaker 2 (34:55):
Is you.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
You've evaluated, you've assigned. Okay, he is a two time MVP.
What are your thoughts on Lamar the player last night?

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Well?

Speaker 12 (35:06):
I didn't expect him to run that much, right, I
mean I think that's what everybody Vegas certainly didn't see
that coming. I didn't see that coming to lead the
team in rushing when you have Derrick Henry. I don't
blame him. I think he made good decision. Obviously, you
don't get over one hundred and twenty yards on the
ground by making four decisions whin, to tuck and run.
I thought Lamar played well. I thought he put them
in a position to win. He certainly went in different

(35:29):
directions in terms of, you know, the amount of throws
which is great, Isaiah likely and what he was able
to do as well as putting the team on the back.
There's no turnovers, which is obviously a very big piece
of the puzzle for him too. I know he had
to have the fumble, but no interceptions, I should say so.
I thought Lamar Jackson played fine. I think they were
good enough to win the game. Unfortunately for Ravens fans
they did not. But he put him in a position

(35:50):
to win against you know, a very very talented as
we see Kansas City team in Kansas City, which is
going to be hard to do for anybody.

Speaker 1 (35:59):
Okay about Kansas City, where are they in comparison to
years past.

Speaker 12 (36:05):
So a couple of things. I think for the Ravens,
I think they messed up. Though, I will take a
step back on the Ravens and just say, you don't
have Derrick Henry touch the ball, you know, fourteen times
thirteen on the ground and just one catch up.

Speaker 2 (36:17):
But can we get into this discussion a little bit.

Speaker 1 (36:19):
Here's the thing, Okay, and I've I've noticed this because
I'm not a Titans fan, but I have. Maybe I'm
glutton for punishment. I've watched a lot of Titans football,
and you're right, it's not He's not your tradition running back.
If you hand it, you can't pro rate the thing like, well,
we'll give him fourteen carries to keep him fresh whatever,
Like he needs thirty carries, and what happens is usually

(36:40):
carry twenty one or twenty two. Now he breaks one, right,
and it's a series of body blows, body blows, body blows,
body blows.

Speaker 2 (36:47):
But they have all.

Speaker 1 (36:47):
These conflicting things, right, Lamar is trying to prove to
people he can throw.

Speaker 2 (36:52):
You know, you have an offensive coordinator who's trying to prove.

Speaker 1 (36:54):
Okay, like I can put Lamar in position to where
he can throw accurately. Lamar's competitive even so at the
end of it, he's just like, I want to win.
I don't trust it. He's not a great third four
to three sort of guy anyway. And he got Derrick Henry,
who he's kind of a one trick pony. In that trick,
you got to go to the body blow action. Like
it does feel like they got a lot of stuff
and it may not all put together.

Speaker 12 (37:15):
Yeah, I just think that they got caught up and
throwing the ball so much against Kansas City. Maybe they
looked at the secondary and said, well, you know, they're
not very good. They're going to struggle because le Jerry
Sneed's not there. So we believe that it's going to
be a battle for them. That's going to be They're
not gonna be able to handle us. But to go
into a game against Kansas City when you have and
I agree with you one hundred percent on Derek Henry,
you got to he's got to. I think he's got
to have twenty two to twenty five touches and he'll

(37:37):
break one big one. He says, that's what he does.
It's what he's done his whole career. And I think
it's what he would have done last night, and they
didn't do that instead. The way I looked at it,
and again, I think the Ravens are really good. I
still think, as I've said with you guys, I think
they have a chance to still you know, I was
still Lombardi or at least be at the game, and
so I think they're that talented of a team. But
when you look at the big picture, to your point, Doug,

(37:59):
you throw the ball forty times and Lamar Jackson's run sixteen,
which really you would probably say thirteen of those were
probably designed pass plays. You're gonna roll Lamar Jackson out
there fifty five times to throw the ball to beat
the Chiefs. I just don't think that's the right recipe.
I think you got to, you know, wear them out,
make those corners, tackles, get the ball outside of Derrick
Henry's tosses, and make those guys that they have to

(38:20):
work for it. I think that's how you have to
beat the Kansa the Chiefs. It didn't work out for
them last night, but that's where I think that they
messed up. And if you're going to trade or if
you're gonna add Derrick Henry, I think you need to
see twenty two touches next week.

Speaker 2 (38:33):
Okay, what about the Chiefs. What's your session?

Speaker 3 (38:37):
Yeah, the Chiefs.

Speaker 9 (38:38):
You know.

Speaker 12 (38:38):
An interesting thing for me was when it was all
said and done and I looked at the line score
or the box score, you know, I'm looking at Isaiah Pacheco, going,
see he only averaged three yards to carry. It seems
so much better than that. Like, I felt like he
was such a And maybe it was the catches, but
I thought Pacheco looked better even though the average was
three yards per attempt. They felt like they were very
good attempts, are very good runs, you know. And I

(39:00):
think that that's that was interesting because I really thought
when I and I don't usually I never look at
the box scot in the game. Usually I don't look
at it till the next day when I look opens up,
I thought we was gonna be like four point two,
four point four yards per carry. It was only three
zero three point zero, So that was surprising. I mean,
Rice looks fantastic, as I think everybody kind of predicted
or hoped to see that he would do in Mahomes obviously,

(39:23):
besides the interception, just keeps making plays. The nice thing
for them, I think that really stood out was that
they were able to spread the ball around so much.
You know, two different guys make catches, getting them involved.
And there were a lot of plays of those chunk plays, right,
whether it was in the run game with Worthy and
his beautiful run. But then you get right as over
twenty yard play Kelsey did, Worthy did, just you know,

(39:45):
Watson did, Procheco did. So they all had twenty yard
chunk plays and I think that was the biggest difference
of the two teams.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
Stut Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Trader. That's the
place of Mark Dominic, who joins us here on the
Doug Allan Show. Of course, Mark's former gentle manager of
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Bright tonight we have the Green
Bay Packers taking on the Philadelphi Eagles. Okay, so last
year the Eagles new OC, new DC start out ten
to zero, but didn't feel right and doesn't finish well.
Now we go another new new DC, new OC and

(40:13):
they add in Saquon Barkley. Okay, same question, right, Like
you have a Derrick Henry sake one Barkley a little different.
He catched out of the backfield. What do you feel
like the Eagles offense should look like tonight?

Speaker 12 (40:25):
Yeah, I think I think that this one feels like
it's going to be a little more bound. I think
that Barklevite will get sixteen to eighteen touches because I
think he's different. They're gonna want to try to, you know,
salag him through the season. I think Derrick Henry just
he just realized that it's a ramrod and you just
keeps throwing it against the wall. I think in this one,
I think with Saquon Barkley, I think it's gonna be
more than fifteen to seventeen eighteen touches or carries, and

(40:46):
then I think you're going to see them kind of
blended together with this passing game and be able to
you know, the nice thing is we all know what
the Eagles is. They've got so many options, and that's
going to be a really nice thing for I think
Jalen Hurts and I think it's going to be a
tricky thing not to get caught up in that because
I think they just got to play smart football. But
when you've got DeVante Smith, obviously, I don't know what
John Dotson's going to do.

Speaker 3 (41:05):
But A J.

Speaker 12 (41:06):
Brown, we know that those guys are going to get
their touches. With Goddard, I just think that the Barkley's
probably going to get again sixteen to eighteen touches. I
think that's the right thing in terms of carries and
another four or five catches. That's what I would want
out of him, and that's what I would expect the
Eagles to do. I think it's going to be a
great game because, like I said last week and what
I said this week, is the game we have on

(41:26):
Thursday night and the game we have on Friday night
could end up being the AFC and NFCY championship teams.
These teams are that good. I'm very excited to see
what the Packers roll out on defense with Jeff Hapley
as the new defensive quarteraor. I think that's going to
be a tremendously different feal and. I think that's going
to be the one thing I want to watch more
out of Green Bay than their offense, is what if
their defense look like under a new coordinators.

Speaker 2 (41:46):
Halfley what's his reputation, Well, I had him in Tampa.

Speaker 12 (41:50):
He was our DV coach back in the day before
he went off and obviously came the head coach of
Boston College. He is known for energy, he is known
to he's a very intelligent coach. You know, players are
going to feel like they're getting better and the Jeff Hafley, Uh,
he's got uh this. Uh, he's got a really good
charisma and he knows how to interject to different players

(42:11):
at different levels. And I think that's really a key
part of being a great head coach or being a
good positional coach. It's how do you react to the
different people within the building because they're coming from different
areas of life. Jeff is really good at working through
that and kind of figuring out how to communicate with
each level to make sure that they're getting the best
they can. And so that's going to be interesting to
see how do all these high picks, these draft picks,

(42:31):
these high picks on defense, how do they perform tonight
when they have a chance to be on stage in
this new system, which I think is going to be
a much more aggressive system. It's going to have some
you know, you're gonna they're gonna be much more aggressive.
They're going to be you know, coming downhill a lot
more So, there's going to be opportunities. It's just that
Jalen Hurts has to you know, be able to cash
in on them. But Zager McKenney I think is big

(42:52):
gire at Vanderstein healthy, He's going to be a big piece.
But again, I want to see uh this defense because
I think it's going to be a much better defense
than we saw last year.

Speaker 1 (43:01):
Jamar Chase told reporters today that he believes he's close
to reaching a long term agreement with the Bengals, but
he's also willing to play on his current contract if
one's not reached. He's been limited in practice, he's been
a hold in during training camp. Do you believe they
get this done before the first step?

Speaker 12 (43:19):
Oh, Doug, it's a great question. My gut is that
he's questionable, that he doesn't they're going to want to
see no one. I'm going to guess the Brown family
isn't going to give him the deal until he's you know,
he shoots up and plays in the game. Maybe is
what is the right answer. I mean, we're seeing Pat
Farremouth get a deal today with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Spencer
Brown got a deal today with the Buffalo Bills. So

(43:41):
we're seeing clubs kind of good deals done at the
club level, like Firemouth deals four years forty eight million
less twelve twelve and change a year. That's not blowing
out the market at all. And I think that's where
you look at it and say, all right, So then
Firemouth wanted to get a deal with the club, and
that's usually where the clubs take advantage these guys right
before the regular season starts. Can I get a player
to take a deal that's much more club friendly? I

(44:01):
think those two guys got one of those. I don't
think Jamar Chase is going to get that lucky, so
I think they're going to make him play another week.

Speaker 1 (44:08):
H What do you think is that is the team
that's most interesting to you? Like, there's a lot of
we went through. There's so many different storylines. I have
one in mind, what's yours that the team that's most
interesting you?

Speaker 12 (44:21):
I think the most interesting team to watch this year
is going to be the Arizona Cardinals and find out
exactly what do they look like. There's been a lot
of good mojo coming out with Kyler Murray and what
he may be doing or be able to put on
tape and then with the addition of a Marvin Harrison
with I think with the explosion of Trey McBride last year,
I think the most interesting team will be what Arizona

(44:41):
does in twenty twenty four.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
Can I give you mine?

Speaker 12 (44:44):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (44:45):
I think the Steelers are a mess on offense. I
think they I think they took up they took a
bunch of parts that weren't great, and then they reconfigured
the me like who a might that might be worse?
You know, like there are people that think Justin Fields
is going to be the answer, and I don't think
he is. I mean, thirty one other teams don't think so.

(45:08):
And then Russell Wilson like he's got the cap, he's
never healthy. I don't think he's very good. He wants
to hold the ball, they want to get rid of
it quickly. I just I don't love it in any way.

Speaker 12 (45:19):
You know, I understand it's amazing what Mike Commins was
able to do last year with Kenny Pickett. I understand.
I hear what you're saying. You know, it's it's a
hard team to bet against, just because of their consistency.

Speaker 2 (45:31):
Sure, and I think their defense is good.

Speaker 12 (45:35):
Are banked up too. You know, there's that whole division
might be you know, a lot more depending on the
quarterback play, and to be able to keep the quarterbacks
healthy will be everything. But I agree with you that if, if, if,

the quarterback.

Speaker 2 (45:54):
Mark, you're the best.

Speaker 1 (45:56):
I would like you to assume the position on the
couch tonight, as most of America will as well, and
then report back after a Saturday and a Sunday and
a Monday on the couch as well.

Speaker 12 (46:06):
Okay, it's great, right, we got a lot of good
football in front of us, but we're happy today back
in the twenty twenty four seasons. So enjoy it too, Doug.

Speaker 3 (46:12):
Thanks
