Speaker 2 (00:24):
God. I sound like Buzz Williamson, don't I? Oh, man,
I get that mid season coaching horse thing going. Ah
oh brutal, brutal, not sick, a little tired, but not

(00:44):
like crazy. But the uh, the what do people call it?
The instrument the instrument pause is a little affected by
the day. I hope you're having a spectacular day. You're
ready for a good weekend, cause it's gonna be a
good weekend, right, gonna be a really good weekkend. No,

(01:07):
you just have in your mind and you, guys, Southern California,
what do you got working on there? Guys? You got
eighty degrees again today? Is that what you're doing? You guys?
Putting on just Sam, make sure you put on sunscreen
when you go outside. This weekend, Jason, I know you're
gonna go on a hike with your smoking hot girlfriend
takes you. She takes you to hikes all over southern California.

(01:28):
You guys need sunscreen this weekend, don't you.

Speaker 3 (01:30):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (01:31):
No, I've got a lot of thoughts on sunscreen, but
I don't want to bore the whisteners. But seventy nine
degrees this weekend? I think seventy six seventy seven?

Speaker 5 (01:39):
Yeah, okay, forecast nice?

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Do you want to know what the forecast is here
in Green Bay, Wisconsin? Sure, Tomorrow the high will be
seven degrees, the low will be six minus six Sunday. No, Tomorrow,
seven minus six is the low, and then eleven on
Sunday minus four is the low.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
Yes.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
So in case you want to know what that feels like,
just imagine your face in a freezer where there actually
wind is blowing even colder air into your face. It's
why does the wind hate my face? That's really what
it kind of comes down to, why does the wind

(02:26):
hate my face? So right now it's twenty five feels
like ten. That means when it's negative six degrees tonight,
it'll feel like negative thirty. So we got the win
last night, but you guys get the wind on the
weekend in terms of the wedding. You know again, when

(02:48):
I got the head coaching job year and a half ago.
This is a true story, Jason. I don't know if
I've ever shared this with you. I actually I landed
in Milwaukee at like twelve thirty at night because I
couldn't get to Green Bay with the flights and whatever.
So I was like, I just fly to Milwaukee. Flew

(03:08):
Phoenix from south from from Burbank to Phoenix, Phoenix to Milwaukee,
and I'm like, I'll just drive up there. It's what
an hour and a half. You know, it was hard,
So I went long in my opening press conference because
I was I like had laid out in my mind.
I kept giving my opening press conference kind of monologue

(03:28):
and trying to time it out while I was driving. Right.
It's a I don't know if you've ever used this
as a broadcasting trick, but you can. Actually I did
it when I was doing the Final Four and I
had a minute on the court before Yukon beat Kentucky
to win They're to win a national championship. Was you know,

(03:49):
you just look at the clock and you give your
a little spiel and you time it out to a minute. Right. So, uh,
I've done in my mind press conferences. I've actually out
loud in a mirror worked on press conferences. But I again,
and this is probably a mistake in my preparation, I

(04:11):
haven't done the press conference after being supremely frustrated or
even ticked off. Right. But I've had bad moments at
those press conferences because you just you know what went wrong,
and you have to take a deep breath, take full
ownership of it, of it, and find a way to

(04:33):
be the stern, discipline oriented but relatable human being that
doesn't browbeat everybody. And some of it is different college
to pro. Now, I also think some of it is
different sport to sport. How we talk about our players
is different than how women's basketball talks about it, or

(04:55):
volleyball or whatever. But again, I'll share with you my
own personal experience in a second. First, Todd Bowles is
the head coach the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Falcons had
no reason to win that game, no reason to win
that game. And what I did was I was a
full disclosure Dan Byer. Obviously, the game was on later

(05:17):
Our game was early, was like a six thirty start,
so we're done in eight thirty. Were on the bus
at nine, and then we were watching Iowa State Iowa
on the bus on our phones. And then I went
back and rewatched the football game. But I didn't check
scores for the football game, so I didn't know what
was going to happen. It was it was like, I
don't know if your parents or anybody close to you.

(05:39):
My dad used to do this all the time on weekend.
Don't tell me the scores. I'm taping the game. So
I didn't have to be that guy because I wasn't.
I can't believe the Falcons won the football game. Many
how many pounds did they have?

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Well, they had tons, yes, seventeen Jason. Was that seen
the nineteen It was crazy?

Speaker 2 (06:03):
So Todd Bowles and again this was on a different level,
same level, there's some similarities me. Again, he's coaching grown men,
he's coaching in the NFL. He's coached as a defensive
coordinator in the Super Bowl with the Arizona Cardinals. Right,
this was how he addressed his UH comments in the postgame.

Speaker 6 (06:26):
It's inexcusable. You don't make excuses we you got enough,
you got care enough, where got something to you? It's
more than a job good? How well do you know
your job? How well can you do your job? You
can't sugar coat it was incusable and it's for that's

(06:48):
for no excuse for it. That's what you tell him
in a lot looking.

Speaker 2 (06:54):
I mean, it's that's awesome. Now. The thing that helps
him is one he has this super kind of easy
going way of saying dropping the F word in there
where it's like a it's a it's an adjective, advert
it just it just adds to it.

Speaker 3 (07:14):
Right.

Speaker 2 (07:14):
I have an assistant, Carrie Rupp, who's been a head coach,
and he has the same thing, the amazing use of
the F word within sentences where the F word isn't
nearly as offensive. Now you may heart all those beeps
and you're like, oh my gosh, he's but it was
really kind of a matter of fact. You're basically saying, like,
this is your job. You have to do it, you
have to have pride in it, and you have to
actually give a damn about it. You have to have
you have to care. You're give a give a rip.

(07:38):
Although nobody says rip has to be at a high level.
And if your give a rip is at a high level,
well then you pay attention more. And when you pay
attention more, the coaches help you and your prep for
every situation. You don't screw up the way the Buccaneers
screwed up. But they did. And now that it's seven,

(08:03):
I don't think he was out of line. And I
think the big reason why though he put it on
the players and their execution. I don't know, it's something
about the ease by which he's matter of fact of
the Hey, we say no excuses. There's no excuses. These
guys screwed up. Don't believe me. Just ask them, and
they need they need to own up to why they

(08:24):
screwed up and not do it again. Byer, do you
think it was over the top? Is is postgame presser?

Speaker 7 (08:31):
No, that was a game that they absolutely should have won.
And O there were some things that didn't go their way.
There was a close call on Kyle Pitts, whether he
was in the end zone or not in the end
zone ruled the touchdown on the field call stood. There
was a fumble that they had inside the red zone
that about five Buccaneers had an opportunity to uh to
recover didn't happen. Baker Mayfield threw a bad interception and

(08:54):
I think even he would.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
Admit, and they let the game. I mean they let
it go.

Speaker 7 (09:00):
So in a span of less than a week, they
lost two home games to two inferior division opponents. So
I can get why Todd Bowles would be that mad.

Speaker 2 (09:09):
Meanwhile, all of us have no faith in the Carolina Panthers.
Yet the Panthers just beat the Rams, right, Panthers are
beating the Rams, the Packers, the Cowboys, They swept the
Falcons obviously in their division, and they have the Buccaneers
twice in the last three weeks. They do have the Seahawks,

(09:31):
albeit at home, which you know, that's a long long
trip for Seattle and Sam Darnold coming against his old club,
one of his old clubs. And they have the Saints
on the road, which you feel like, even though the
Saints have been competitive of late, that should be when
are you ready for the Carolina Panthers to be in
the playoffs and have a home game as a division champion.

Speaker 7 (09:50):
Well, actually feel like they've shown more than any team
in that division of at least stability. The kind of
are who they are. They have a running game. Maybe
it wasn't this potent as it was at one point
during the season, middle of the season where ric O'Dell
had back to back huge games. But to your point
of their resume and who they've beaten, seems like more
of a resume than what Tampa's put together. And the

(10:11):
other frustrating thing for Tampa is everyone's finally healthy. I mean,
Bucky Irving missed a bunch of time. Mike Evans came
back last night at over one hundred yards, a couple
of big plays, and Jalen McMillan almost caught a touchdown,
so he was back in the fold. So now this
was supposed to be their stretch run. Everybody's back, let's
do it, Let's go on a run. And then you
lose like that and you had nineteen penalties for one

(10:33):
hundred and twenty five yards by the Falcons and the
Buccaneers still can top that.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
Doesn't that factor into this, guys? Doesn't the you mentioned
the Panthers and Dave Canalis, right, I think it factors
into the You know, all the debate shows this morning
is Todd Bowles on the hot seat and he sounded
like a guy in that In that SoundBite, he sounds
like a guy who sees the rider on the wall.
He sounds like an old guy who has had his

(10:58):
career and doesn't care what happened deference to him. That's
the SoundBite of a coach like that who's defeated but
doesn't The Dave Canalis sing work into this that if
you're going to make a case against Todd Bowles being
the head coach moving forward, you have a former assistant
leading a division opponent to first place. You have a
former assistant and Liam Cohen leading the Jaguars to first place,

(11:19):
and then you have Todd Bowles regressing as a head
coach without those guys.

Speaker 2 (11:24):
Yeah, I guess I don't think Todd Bowles has regressed.
Me again, that maybe that's and obviously they've fallen apart here,
but they've also had had a bad bite of injuries, right,
They're just they've just had a bad, bad bite of injuries.
That's the only thing I can I can say to

(11:46):
support him. And let's also see how he finishes. Do
I think it plays part of it? Yeah, But he
was the handpicked air apparent to Bruce Arians and so
it wasn't like it was like, well, we have have
one of these three choices and they chose poorly. That
was always kind of the deal. And remember arians is

(12:07):
doing that job that no one actually knows what he
does and still gets paid for it. But he didn't
get fired from his job. That was also part of
the deal.

Speaker 7 (12:16):
I would say that the assistants that left the building,
it's not great for Bolls. The other part of it
is he's a defensive head coach, and their defense right
now stinks outside of via Veda, Viavea, excuse me. They
they can't stop anybody maybe decent against the run.

Speaker 3 (12:37):
A game.

Speaker 2 (12:38):
How about Kirk Cousins.

Speaker 3 (12:39):
Well, that's the point.

Speaker 7 (12:40):
Kirk Cousins can't throw for three hundred and seventy three
yards and three touchdowns in a game without Drake London.
I think that's why Todd Bowles is also probably feeling
the heat. But I think Jason's point is is very fair,
especially now in the NFL when you're starting to hear
of teams saying, all right, to be sad for offense
over defense, because if you have a good coordinator, they're

(13:01):
just going to go and get a head coaching job anyway,
and now you've had two go out the door. I
think that that I think that's all legitimate speculation.

Speaker 2 (13:10):
Yeah, I mean big thing is just winnable division. And
yeah they've had injuries. But last night, you can't lose
last night's game. Just you can't lose last night's game.
And what happens when you get ultimately frustrateds like, hey,
like you can't say what he said. You're not supposed to,
but that's what everybody's feeling, like, dude, we prepped you

(13:34):
for this stuff. What is actually going on here? And
then then the kirk Cousins, totally washed, comes back and
plays great football last night? What does that mean for
some of these other old quarterbacks right now? About the
Falcons for not send them out the pastor obviously it
doesn't matter now they're already eliminated for the playoffs, But

(13:54):
that was prime time kirk Cousins playing exceptionally well.

Speaker 8 (14:00):
This is the best of the Don dot Leap Show

(14:33):
Boys beat IU Indy the Jaguars. They play a style
called the System. They press trap the whole game. We
were down three at the half, not playing poorly. They
were playing well and big second half. Fifty two in
the second half and still a lot of meat left
on the bone where we felt like we could have
played even better. But it doesn't matter, just one more

(14:56):
point than the opponent. But by I was definitely thinking
of you last night because you're a Midwest guy. Same
thing with you, Sam and One continue to think we
had this. We had a seven hour bus ride on
the way home, which is a long time, and it's
one of those things that we're in your head. You go, okay,

(15:18):
well to fly to Indianapolis from Green Bay, Wisconsin if
you don't have a charter. We didn't have charters. You
you gotta go to the airport. Now I can make
a flight that leaves thirty minutes after our show's done,
because it takes fifteen minutes to get there, and you
only have to be in your flight really fifteen twenty
minutes before it takes off if you're not checking backs.

(15:38):
But when you have a group, you got to get
there like an.

Speaker 5 (15:40):
Hour EARLYSA pre check, Doug.

Speaker 2 (15:43):
Yeah, but again you haven't been to Green Bay. A
green Bay, there is a PreCheck, but you don't. There's
no line right right right.

Speaker 5 (15:53):
You can get through it even faster at other airports
if you're RTC, I.

Speaker 2 (15:57):
Do clear, and now Clear offers clear and pre check,
so I'll do the I'll do both, and then I
got my kids on it as well. It's clear as awesome.
But yeah, you can get them both now and just
see which one's shorter. On those big airports, I'd just
choose clear. And it's super simple anyway. So again you
factor in your mind. Okay, Well, if you fly commercial,

(16:20):
it's you leave at say eve, if you lived at
four thirty, you got to get there at three thirty.
If you're flying with a group, right, even if you're
not checking, you're checking like you know, the basketballs or
we don't bring basketball's, the uniforms and all the medical
equipment whatever, So you got to get a three thirty.
We didn't let you wouldn't have landed until nine thirty.

(16:43):
And again you're going through Chicago. There's always usually delays.
Could have been ten could have been ten thirty. Now
remember you lose an hour, so it's like, you know,
roughly an hour less time to do it on flights
if the fly, if there's not a long layover, and
everything works out right, we bust down, bust back. Seven

(17:09):
hours is a long bus ride.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
That's that was, especially at night. But you a lot.
You gain an hour going back, right, it.

Speaker 2 (17:19):
Still took seven hours. I mean, I just want to
want to point that out. We did get an hour back.
We still took seven hours. Now when you it was
it's really six hours, but six six and a half
or so six maybe six fifteen. But we stopped at
a truck stop midway, got a bunch of snacks, took
a picture. You know, it's kind of like a little
tradish whatever. But and we were listening to we had

(17:42):
great conversations, listened to a bunch of I was I
had the os playing mostly country music and some slow
jams on the way. And it's great when you win buyer,
when's what's the longest bus ride you've ever.

Speaker 6 (17:54):
Been on.

Speaker 3 (17:56):
The longest probably about four hours.

Speaker 2 (18:01):
Yeah, I mean, listen, the buses are great now, Like
that one wasn't a brand new one, but it has
the new ones. They have Wi Fi. You know, you
can want and and and the fact they have screens
doesn't really matter because everybody watches on their phones now
their iPads. But you have Wi Fi. You can do whatever.
You can get up and go to the bathroom, you
can walk around. But yeah, that was a long bus ride.

(18:22):
That was that was that was long. That was long.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Could have been much longer if you left with an Now, oh.

Speaker 2 (18:28):
My gosh, we lose that game. Can image can imagine
seven hours you're losing a game.

Speaker 7 (18:32):
I appreciate, uh, I you Indianapolis's efforts to honor the
home city, But those were some of the worst uniforms
that I've seen.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
They look like every guy got run over by a car.
Checker checker flag, but looked a little bit like skid
like skid marks. And when I say skid marks, I
don't mean the.

Speaker 3 (18:52):
The skyline of Indianapolis. Tire tread marks.

Speaker 2 (18:56):
Yeah, tire tread marks. Yes, that's what it looked like.

Speaker 5 (18:58):
Skid marks whatever, no skid marks are you break?

Speaker 3 (19:02):
Yeah, but also break.

Speaker 2 (19:04):
Or there's the double dune yeah as well the other
part to it. Here's some some stuff ship. You should know.
My least favorite uniforms. You guys know which our four
uniforms are. My least five uniforms are our least favorite.

Speaker 3 (19:19):
The one I don't know, the ones who were last.

Speaker 2 (19:21):
Night, Yeah, the green ones we've never I've never We've
never won in the green ones. Now, granted we didn't
win very many games last year, we haven't won very
many games overall, but uh my, my director of basket
wabs k and the captain, he kind of snuck those
in nder the wire usually asked me, what do you
want to wear? And I always go like, when we're
black or we're white. If not, we'll wear the gray.
And I walk out, I walk out for pregame and

(19:42):
I look in the locker room and all the green
uniforms like you snuck it in there, didn't you. So now,
of course next road game we have to wear the
green again. Have to. Now I'm stuck. My least favorite ones.
They're my least favorite ones because I haven't redesigned them.
We just kept the old. We redesigned the white ones
last year, the black ones this year. The green ones

(20:03):
are supposed to be next year. So we're trying to
do You'll love this, Buyer, We're trying to do Title
Town uniforms where the green would say Title Town USA,
and the logo instead of the GB logo would be
the Green Bay logo.

Speaker 3 (20:18):
Oh wow.

Speaker 2 (20:19):
The packers are like cool with it. Then the league,
the NFL is like no, that's no, that's Nike.

Speaker 3 (20:26):
Can't do it.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
No, can't do it, can't do it. I'm telling you.
The renderings of these uniforms are so sweet, Like, dude,
those would sell like hotcakes. Those are really cool. Apparently
too cool. Apparently too cool. All right, let's get the
latest in the Sharon Moore investigation. He was a rain
facing one felony charge, third degree home invasion, two misdemeanors

(20:48):
stalking in a domestic relationship, and breaking an entery. So, buyer,
give me the give me the what we what we've
been able to put together as the story from Monday.

Speaker 7 (20:58):
Yeah, so there was a lot up to it. Wall
Street Journal had a piece about this relationship. But what
prosecutors said today was that the victim the woman ended
their relationship with Sharon.

Speaker 3 (21:14):
Moore on Monday morning.

Speaker 7 (21:17):
She then was harassed by More that day continuously, and
then Monday afternoon, after dealing with More and his alleged harassment,
she went to the school to give the information or
investigators and reveal their relationship.

Speaker 2 (21:39):
And so they so they didn't know in September, and
it wasn't the investigation.

Speaker 7 (21:44):
Yes, so they both denied it. That's what was reported.
But that's this is the thing about this portion of
it is there's the court case that is dealing with
what happened on Wednesday. Everything else is kind of behind
that in tying to fill in the gaps and who
knew what. But there were reports over the last twenty

(22:04):
four hours that the school had done an investigation and
had asked both parties whether they were in a relationship.
Both denied it, so it didn't go anywhere. But then
on Monday, after feeling whatever feeling she felt following the breakup, decided,
all right, I'm going to I'm going to reveal what
actually did happen. It was then on Wednesday, when he

(22:27):
was fired, that he went over to the alleged victim's
place and then made the threats that he's actually facing
in court. So that's what has happened this week according
to prosecutors.

Speaker 2 (22:41):
Well, the quote that's going around, and it's a good one,
is from Nick Saban's book You've heard this century right?
You can't What did he says book? You can't sleep
with anybody who has less to lose than you do.
And so for him, the only one you know his
when in his mind Hillary Clinton was like the only

(23:03):
one who could could could lose more than he would lose.
I think that was the parallel drawn. And this is
the perfect example why. Because the young woman ends the relationship,
it gets public, she'll get some public shame and amiliation,

(23:25):
but her professional life isn't over her personal life. While
a mess isn't as messy as his is. I do think,
I do think what's interesting about it is everyone operates
under the assumption and we don't know. There'll be emails
that we text, if there's an investigation with when these

(23:46):
things go to court, they'll be disclosure and we'll find out.
But people do operate an assumption that Michigan knew about
this all the time, sat on it, wait until the
season was over, and only after the seeds is over,
then they executed it because they want to fire run More. Right,
that's the diabolical We found a way to get ridish
run More and here's what happened. Sort of thing again,

(24:07):
still could be possible, but that's where so many people's
brain went. And this story does contradict that on some level.
It does contradict. They may have been alerted to it,
but they investigated it, and both people said that not happening.
Just people just think that's happening, but it ain't. And

(24:28):
you do come to a stalemate. And if no one
if there's no one else with firsthand information it the
he said and she said, are both the same, it
does the investigation does die. It really does.

Speaker 7 (24:41):
Yeah, that's the that's the point that And there were
different reports on when this happened. Some said in the summer,
some said in October. But ultimately, to your point, Doug,
if Sharon Moore wasn't cooperating and this then now alleged
victim wasn't cooperating at the time, that's kind of been
the There wasn't anything that they could go on or

(25:03):
had anything or had any evidence that there was a
relationship between the two. Yeah, What is also needs clarifying
is because and I've mentioned it in reports and you
may have talked about it earlier, but in the alleged
incident on Wednesday, More never threatened the woman, but he

(25:24):
did say my blood is on your hands, where he
did threaten to take his own life. So he did
threaten to take his own life, but he did not
threaten the woman, you know, with her life. If that's
any clarification.

Speaker 2 (25:41):
I think all of those things again, and yeah, I
mean I don't need to preface this, but I will
just again so people understand. None of these things are okay, right, Stalking,
showing up, harassing, or any sorts of threats to yourself
or to others are okay. But if it is the

(26:02):
desperation of hey, I just lost my entire life after we,
you know, came to a conclusion we weren't going to
tell anybody, to say nothing to nobody about nothing, and
then all of a sudden you go and tell everybody
something and the whole world comes crashing down. You know.
I think it ends up being a misdemeanor and sort
of going away. What it does, though, is it just

(26:25):
cast a completely ugly light on ton More and makes it.
It shows you the desperation in what happened, what transpired
over those three days or ever how long those days were. Yeah,
I mean, like I do I think he's going to jail.
I don't, but I do think that this point, I mean,

(26:50):
there's been.

Speaker 4 (26:50):
A way, Like I said, well, there's been a lot
to talk about his mental health and whether or not
he goes to jail or not, or how permissible that
will be a trial or if this goes a trial.
But I think that that's like the classic. That's the classic.
I guess legal they probably talked about this in law schools. Yeah,
it does he did he have mental issues and did

(27:11):
this this episode trigger those mental issues or as Doug
just said, he just received news that his life was
devastated and he had this episode. Is it a one
time deal? Was he fully aware of his actions? Or
does he have a mental health issue that could be
proven in court? And then you gotta obviously what up

(27:34):
on the guy?

Speaker 2 (27:36):
Yeah, I mean again, I'm with you Dan, I mean
with you Jason, Like, we don't know what's interesting about
the mental health issues? And yes, obviously lawyers do go
to that and feels like they go to it way
too easily. So right, What is interesting is if you've
ever been around somebody that has legitimate depression and mental

(27:56):
health issues, you actually get for me, are you get
offended at people who have mental breakdowns because their life
is spiraling because of their own deciding? These are two different things,
as we're both pointing out, and that's really hard. It's
hard to not feel like you're empathetic towards mental health
issues when you're saying that. But I think we all

(28:17):
know that there is a there is a distinct and
unique difference.

Speaker 7 (28:21):
Also, just to add on separately, the Wall Street Journal
in their reporting said that there were two other women
who did tell university officials that Moore made unwanted advances
to them online. That's a report, but that was not
mentioned with the in the court case today. So when

(28:41):
we're talking about did the university know, I think those
allegations are now something that are going to be under
the microscope on did people bring this up to the
university and they didn't look or was it just part
of the investigation into that relationship or what.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
But that was brought up by the Wall Street Journal.

Speaker 2 (29:03):
Well, what did you know when did you know?

Speaker 4 (29:05):
What?

Speaker 2 (29:05):
Did you do about it? That's any of these investigations.
That's what it has to do with. By the way,
my boy Pat listening to the show. Thanks so much.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
Pat.

Speaker 2 (29:13):
This is Doug Gotlip Show Fox Sports Tradio. Were talking
about IU Indies uniforms. He said, they look like tattoos,
like tattoos. I did it look like there was a
spark the check or flag, but it did look like
did somebody run them over? What is that tire marks
on them? That was weird.

Speaker 8 (29:28):

(30:00):
get his take on last night's Bucks debuckle and Todd bowles,
pointing the figs, buck stops other places. But before we
get to all of that, I do think it's important
that Sam points out the Syhawk was one but won

(30:24):
by Iowa State last night.

Speaker 5 (30:26):
Yes, it was great game. Hawkeys had their chances. But
for the first time in history, Iowa State has now
won the men's game, the women's game, wrestling, and football
in the same year. They have women's wrestling, Iowa does,
Iowa State does not. Iowa Women's wrestling is very good, dominate,
but it's kind of a burgeoning sport right now.

Speaker 2 (30:48):
It is a burgeoning sport anyway, So the didn't Iowa
State have like fifteen points at halftime?

Speaker 3 (30:55):
It was?

Speaker 5 (30:56):
It was thirty three twenty five, I believe, and then
Iowa State just came out gangbusters at the game of
the second half. Then I responded, it was have you
eight fight? It was I was Iowa was an eleven
and a half point dog, and they battled and they
had it within with a one possession game with about
a minute ago or something like that.

Speaker 2 (31:13):
It was close, thirty three twenty five at the half,
ends up being sixty six sixty two. Good ball game,
my boy, Miles Simon was on the call. Did it
sneak up on anybody else? Sneak up on anybody else?
The the the NBA Cup in Vegas, Like I saw

(31:35):
that pop up in my email. You know we get
emails as at broadcasts. Whatever, Hey, don't forget NBA Cup
in Vegas set dates. Here's the teams that's playing. Like,
I guess it's because I didn't realize it's December. I'm
so into you know, football, and of course my basketball
team did sneak up on you? Dan?

Speaker 7 (31:55):
Well, the one thing that the NBA did this year
is they had quarterfinal games this week, so the rest
of the league kind of took off Tuesday and Wednesday.
So the Lakers had that game against the Spurs, which
was a Cup game, and you know, the Knicks played
earlier this week. So the NBA did try to kind
of highlight it this year by by doing that with
the schedule. But yeah, usually happens around this time at

(32:16):
heading to Vegas. But yeah, that's what's going to happen tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (32:18):
Yeah, that's the Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio. People
are paying more attention to football as they should. Mark
Dominic pays a ton of attention to football. He's a
former general manager of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He's worked
at all levels of the National Football League, and he
joins us here on Fox Sports Radio. How the Buccaneers
lose that game.

Speaker 9 (32:38):
I I'm watching the game, and when you know, having
worked with Raheem Morris as our head coach in Tampa
Bay for a few years, when you know they were
down fourteen points, they scored the touchdown and made it
twenty to twenty eight, I'm like, don't you kick the
extra point? Like I don't believe the analytics is correct here,
and they miss it and I'm like, oh, here you go.
And then they score and you're like, go for two

(32:59):
and they don't get that there's no way. And then
some I mean, it's just that's such a miserable loss
at home when the division's right in front of you
for yours for the taking. I still think they'll win
the division, but just the way the ball bounces and
the way that played out is just it's hard to
have them. I mean, it's you wake up the next
morning sick to your stomach, or you wake up that's

(33:21):
the fastest flight you've ever had to Atlanta.

Speaker 2 (33:23):
I'll ask you a question that I think I think
Jason's too. It was it Jason or was it you
Dan discussed about fifteen minutes ago. Considering you have other
former assistants who are doing very, very well and the
Bucks are collapsing here down the stretch, how much does
do the other assistants that used to be in Tampa

(33:46):
doing well increase the pressure on Todd bulls Well?

Speaker 9 (33:53):
I think because of Bullsby on the defensive side, obviously
those guys are on the offensive side with Canals and
Cohen that yeah, it's pressure. But again, you know, as
much as there was an opportunity last night for Tampa
to kind of make sure that they've won the South again,
their schedule still they played the Carolina Panthers twice, the
schedule still in front of them. I think, if you're

(34:14):
Jason Light, if I was Jason Light and I'm sitting
there today, I want to see the whole season playoff.
I'm in zero rush here. But I don't think Todd
Bowles is on a hot seat right now, not this year. Glaziers,
as much as there's been changed there, I don't see
them as a team that would want to change after
you know, being the only team that's won its division
the last what four or five years in a row.
No one's done that besides the Buccaneers in the South.

Speaker 2 (34:37):
All right, so the last two weeks you joined us
and you said, hey, you know, Stot's been fine, good.
I just don't see him long term as the starter
there in Cleveland. Did last weekend change your mind? No?

Speaker 9 (34:51):
Not really. I mean I think that they're just auditioning
and they'll be back at the podium this year, and
you know, with depending on which quarterbacks actually do who
decided to come out and be part of this draft
class will be a big part of what happens with
the Cleveland Browns. But I think that they are seeing
they've got two good two's potentially. I just don't feel
like they've got their number one. And again, I think

(35:11):
it's under duress too much. And that's all from you know,
processing quickly enough and right now. You know again, I
give him through the rest of the season at this
point instead of going back to just to make sure.
But I feel like I need to see three or
four more games. But I just don't know if the
processing is going to happen test enough for him.

Speaker 2 (35:32):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. That's the
voice of of Mark Dominic. I agree. You know, it's
interesting that the touchdown when she kind of layered a
little bit in the end zone, he actually had a
tight end wide open that he made the wrong read
and got a touchdown. Anyway, I haven't heard anybody point

(35:54):
it out watching the game, like this is the wrong guy.
Wrong guy? Okay, cam Ward watching him in the same game,
how much concern do you have for his future?

Speaker 9 (36:06):
I do the you know, the he's not look. I
think he's respected in the locker room. I think he's
got the moxie, and I think he's got the intelligence.
I think that his release uh looks awful little bit
to me, even though it's something you really can't change
at this point, this late in their careers. We all

(36:26):
know what Tim Tebow and other guys that to carry
Collins hitch like. He just can't get rid of that stuff.
And part of that makes me concerned that, you know,
the accuracy and just being able to put the weight
on his shoulders. It's been disheartening because I really like
cam Ward the kid. But and I and and I
got you gotta be honest. I mean they're surrounding him
with a bunch of guys that probably are backups for
other teams in terms of skill set guys, and all

(36:49):
that combined makes for you know, a very disappointing campaign.
But I think if you're the Titans, uh, you cannot
rule out quarterback in the first round. I think is
the worst sit wish you have is you're you over.
You want to believe so badly that your pick is
going to make it that you're not willing to keep
your eyes open and say, hey, look at two quarterbacks

(37:11):
and one of them is a franchise guy. I don't
care teams trade two or three or four first rounders
to get a franchise guy. So if he takes two
franch our first round picks on quarterback to get the
right guy, do it. I think they've got to keep
their eyes open on both things.

Speaker 2 (37:23):
Steut Gottliebshaw, you listen to Fox Sports Radio Bears Packers game,
You walked away with what impression after watching those two teams?

Speaker 9 (37:35):
Yeah? You know, I still really believe in what the
Green Bay Packers can be and are I still feel
like the when you when a push comes to show
I feel like they've got more playmakers across the board,
and I trust Jordan Love to be able to push
the ball when it has to happen and think that
he can make a throw. And it gives me the
confidence to feel like this Packer team is the is

(37:56):
the better team. But the Bears, you know, I've always
said all seasons, I just feel like they're going to
not be in the postseason. I think Detroit's going to
catch them and move forward. And I think that's what's
going to unfold as we see the last month of
the season.

Speaker 2 (38:10):
Stug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Okay, Jalen Hurts,
are they using him incorrectly and throwing the ball too much?
Is this his ceiling? He is not running the football
as much or as well? What's your assessment of Jalen
Hurts and what suddenly has changed for the worst with

(38:30):
the Eagles.

Speaker 9 (38:32):
Yeah, I think it's one thing is what you talked about,
and they did run sa kuon Barker. I talked about
how important was going to be to get Sa kuon
Barker ball. They ran the ball well, they could have
run it more, I think, and not put everything in
Jalen's hands, and I think that's what you've got to
continue to do. You don't take the ball out of
Jalen's hands and tell him you're not good enough anymore.
Maybe you convince him Doug that it's every week to
the super Bowl, and he plays to that kind of level.

(38:53):
But you know, I think the more important way to
talk to Jalen is we still believe in you. But
certainly as an offensive coordinator, we're going to hand the
ball off to Barkley. We're gonna do it twenty three times,
Orrel's gonna throw a bunch of screens and just really
build back the confidence because that was a nightmare game
for a young quarterback or for a quarterback in the league.
Yet I still think he can overcome it. Look, Jalen's

(39:13):
not the top ten type of quarterback in the NFL,
but he has been a top ten postseason type of
quarterback and I think he continues to do that. This
Eagle team is going to make it to the postseason
and be fine, and I still think they're gonna be
the team that you're worried about playing when you get
into the postseason because of where I think Barkley's gonna explode.

Speaker 2 (39:28):
Chris Greer got fired, but they also trade away you know,
Jayalen Ramsey, who who can be rough right to have
in terms of culture and locker room. You know, they
don't have a guy we thought was their most talented
wide receiver and Tyreek Hills on the ir but again

(39:49):
some culture issues there. But the Dolphins have kind of
quietly stabilized themselves. Right, They've won four in a row,
they've won five of six. They have some winnable games
here down stretch. What's the likelihood that McDaniel and Tula
return despite the fact the general manager who hired them
and drafted them is no longer there.

Speaker 9 (40:12):
I would say that McDaniel's trying to put together the
resume and you got to get him credit. And I think,
you know, mister Ross, the owner of the Dolphins, could
have just cleaned house right at one sweep and obviously
did not. So he must have some confidence that maybe
that he gets to see day to day in terms
of you know, maybe what we portray or we've talked

(40:32):
about media wivese of like, he's got no control over
the roster. He you knows, the inmates are running asylum.
Maybe that was more the way Greer wanted to handle things,
and maybe coaches decided to handle things differently. So I
think he can still write his own ticket here and
keep himself in town. I don't think it's a certainty
is that he's out, and I think it's been great
to see. It's been fun, especially, you know, watching has

(40:55):
been just writes out, so good for them, and so
I think continued to lean on what he can provide
and that's that's been a big, big relief for that offense.

Speaker 2 (41:05):
This is the Doug Gottlieb Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
That's Mark Dominic who, of course the former general manager
of the Tampay Buccaneers. Over twenty years in the NFL
front office, of scouting, you name it. Something weird happened
when we had to LESCo on on Monday. So he's
on with us and we're talking about Shane Stikeen and
what he can do. And I said, what have you
called Philip? Do you think he'll call Philip Rivers? He's like,

(41:28):
he's coaching high school football. I'm like, well, the guy
knows the system can still come in and it's you
can't lose a step if you never had a step
But he is forty four, right, and uh, you know
the reports were that while it hasn't been announced, he's
practicing as if he's going to play and start against
Seattle this weekend. What are your thoughts on how this

(41:50):
all works? Right late in the year, got to get
somebody off the street, don't have a lot working in house,
and what the Colts have decided to do.

Speaker 9 (42:00):
Yeah, I mean I think they're trying to salvage the season, right.
I mean, they were on fire and they look like
the fun story of twenty twenty five and then everything's
falling apart. I think this is ownership and certainly you
know obviously general manager, that you're trying to find a
way to keep yourself in the postseason and you're looking
for any opportunity. And for Philip Man, this is going

(42:22):
to be hard. But I do grouse you, dog. I
think he's going to stress, and I think he's going
to play. I mean, you didn't sign him to you know,
run a practice squad. You didn't sign him from You
signed a veteran quarterback who's played you know whatever, two
hundred games the National Football League. Yes, the game's faster
and it's things are different. But he does understand the
game very well. He's been coaching it, so that's good.

(42:42):
He's not going to be in the right condition and
he's going to take some really bad hits. But I
think they throw him in there because you're saying, hey, look,
we're not going to win any well, so when I
will put Philip in and see if it gives us
just a spark better than what we have, and that's
where you sit. I mean, that's why you've got to
have what you feel is and I know that they
tried to with Richard obviously with Daniel Jones, but you know,
you just get devastated at that position more than anywhere

(43:04):
you're in deep trouble. And obviously the Colts are in
deep trouble, and I don't think it's gonna be enough
to get them back to make sure that they make
the postseason. I don't believe that's going to happen for
an Indy.

Speaker 2 (43:12):
The kids. The Chiefs have been the model, right and
now that the model of an aging, decaying, formerly great team.
How hard are their issues to fix this offseason?

Speaker 9 (43:26):
I don't think it's that hard. And you know, I
actually watched some more Chiefs tape this week, and I know,
you know, I've been harping a little bit on the
offensive line coming together. One of it's got to get
Tray Smith healthy. But I got to tell you, Doug,
when I watched Josh Simmons, their first round pick, the
left tackle from Ohio State with a thirty second pick
in the draft, She's going to be phenomenal, like phenomenal

(43:49):
good you literally, So I think they've got to get
the right side of the line fixed. I think they
go back to the offensive line. Look, they've got to
fix the offensive line, especially the right side. Now you're
I think you're okay in terior wise, and you certainly
that's going to be outside good on tackle if you
go draft young another tackle. I think the thing that
I've talked about is what they have to do is
either in free agency or you know, and the other

(44:10):
draft pick, you know, higher in the draft, since they'll
be picking high in the draft for the first time
in forever, they've got to get a speedball. They've got
to get a pass rusher that can throw a fastball.
They have to have it because everybody can sit back
and uh not be worried about losing the edge and
that helps them. That really hurts their defense from being
as productive as I think they could be. So I
think that that's something that those two things, the right

(44:31):
tackle and finding a pass rusher are number one, number
two check checks for the Cancer Chiefs, and.

Speaker 2 (44:37):
They probably need new tight end right I mean they,
I mean it feels close to time. I mean it
still can be effective, but not as effective. Going to
have to find their apparent there as well. But can't
you can't protect on the right side as well. That's
obviously the Priorty Mark Great Stuff. Happy Holidays, Team, Merk Christmas.
Thanks for being our guests. We'll talk to you soon.

Speaker 9 (44:59):
You bet enjoy the games. Freaking dog
