(00:25):
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. I hope you're having
a great day. M M. What an interesting game last night.
It's amazing, amazing. The takeaway some people have are far
(00:46):
afield from what normal people have, but we'll get to those.
The Doug Gotlip Shows brought to you by Farmers. At
Farmers we've seen almost everything. Someone uncover almost anything when
it's game time. Have an experienced player help you stay
out of the game, put their experience in play at
Farmers dot com. We have a lot to get to.
Let's start with last night's game, in which the Toronto
(01:08):
Raptors ho Hum beat the very depleted Golden State Warriors.
And I've operated under this premise for the most part,
which is if the Warriors were healthy, either the better
team the Warriors will win the championship because together Clay Steph,
K D. Draymond, and Andrea Goodala form a not a
(01:31):
perfect team, but a close to perfect team, especially in
the two thousand nineteen world In the NBA last night,
they didn't have Cavan Loone either starting center. Um. They
they have a banged up Andrea Goodala. Clay Thompson didn't play,
and Kevin Durant didn't play. And again I operate under
(01:55):
the premise that if they're all healthy, than what Draymond's
ed would in fact be true. You know, not having
anyone makes a difference because everyone when you're assemble the team,
everyone brings something different. You know, no one cared that
guys are hurt. Everybody want to see us loose. I'm
sure people are happy to hurt. We just gotta continue
to battle and when the next game, go back Toronto
(02:19):
win game five, come back to Oracle win game six,
and then celebrate fun Times Ahead, Fun Times Ahead. The
problem with that is we assume that the superpowers of
Clay Thompson will return the second he steps out in
the court. We assume that the superpowers of Kevin Durant
(02:42):
will return as soon as he steps out in the court.
And you, guys, ever pulled a hamstring? Do you know
what doesn't happen when you pull a hamstring? You're not
fine and a dent and the same guy a week later,
let alone five days later, And you can tell me,
like me, you understand modern medicine. Yeah, yes, I actually
(03:05):
do understand modern medicine. Even if they had were able
to surgically put a new hamstring in there, you don't
have five days for that thing to heal. Anyone who's
ever pulled their hamstring knows you feel fine, You feel fine,
You feel fine. Then it feels like somebody shot a
baby in the back of your leg, and you don't
feel fine. So Clay Thompson goes from unable to run
(03:28):
down the floor, take me out right now, I can't
even hug and congratulate my teammates to five days later
he'll be back fine. And Kevin Durant probably is a
you know, a pull is like you know, it's a
partial tear really of his calf muscle. Even if he returns,
he's not going to be the same guy. I don't
(03:49):
think the raptors are better, but I think the raptors
are healthier. And that's why I think the Raptors are
gonna win this thing, because you do get to a
point of you get to that point of return. It's
not like the Raptors are gonna lay down anyway. They're
not gonna play good basketball anyway. And they're pretty damn good.
(04:10):
And when playing against even if it's seventy of Clay,
that's not the superpowers we came to expect. And and
this isn't like you know in the olden days. First
of all, like Willis read the whole Willis Read story
like he didn't play that well. It was an emotional
game and he came in and back then, you can
(04:32):
hide a big guy because he could just stay in
the lane and push people when they came near him.
You can't hide anybody now, that's the sport. That's why
DeMarcus Cousins can't be out on the floor. You're already
trying to hide Steph Curry some because he's not a
great defender and you need all his energy and offense.
I think you can hide Clay Thompson, who's your best
(04:53):
on ball defender, or hide Kevin Durand like what makes
Kevin durand special is not just that he tall, that
he can run, jump, moved, latterly handle the basketball like
all those things you need your cap muscle to do.
Oh and you can't hide him on defense. This is
in baseball, or Kirk Gibson can come limping up and
hit a home run. Kirk Gibson wouldn't have to go
(05:16):
play in the field. And in basketball we can actually
make sure we hit it to your position. I think
the Raptors are gonna win the championship. I don't think
they're the best team. I'm not sure that the second
best team, but that doesn't matter. They're the only healthy
team remaining in this thing, or healthy er than the
(05:38):
Golden State Warriors. It doesn't mean there's been an asterisk by.
There's no asterisk by the two thousand fifteen championship for
the for the Warriors. And can we also stop with
the well, Steph couldn't do it by himself, nobody can.
(06:02):
Nobody came. Here's here's Steve Kerr talking about Steph Curry
last night. Steph was incredible. Stuff he does is he
does things that, honestly, I don't think anybody has ever
done before the way he plays the game the way
he shoots it and at the combination of his ball
handling and shooting skills. Um, it's incredible to watch. He
was amazing, You kidd me, It was incredible to watch.
(06:28):
Anyone who took away anything other than Steph Curry is awesome.
You need to learn to get HD put into your
your watching standard deaf, or you have completely unrealistic expectations
for what a great player looks like. I mean, even
the people are like, well, this is what Lebron was
(06:50):
like last year. No, wasn't. By the way, Lebron didn't win.
They did get swept, did they not? That did happen
last year? Didn't it? I believe it did. The year
before it was a gentleman's sweep. They won one game,
gentleman sweep. But even in those even in those circumstances,
(07:14):
Lebron wasn't without his starting to his starting three, starting center, Like,
dudes are backups for a reason. And then once you
get to the bench bench, you're like, man, I totally
forgot he was. Even on the Warriors, You're like, You're like, wait,
(07:35):
who is that? I saw Kevin rant dapping guys up
in the hallway after the game, and I was like,
I don't even know who that is. I don't I
actually don't know who that is. Like I'm a basketball guy,
I know most everybody in the NBA. And then once
I looked about like, ah, that's right now. Remember but
(08:02):
it took me a while. It took me a while ago,
and go, oh, that's right. They drafted Jacob Evans. I forgot.
So lots of things should be put to bed after
last night. We can probably when we get to this later,
stop with the Draymond and Iggy are Hall of famers, right,
(08:25):
because even if you're not a Hall of Famer, in
terms of your production, when you have Clay and k D,
you would think there'd be a little bit more production
when you don't have Clay and k D. We've somehow
misassociated great role player with a great team, which is
a completely necessary position and role to fill with historically
(08:50):
great player. Those two things are not one and the same.
Robert Roy is not a Hall of Famer. Derek Fisher
is not a Hall of Famer. They both made big plays,
and championships don't happen if they're not in those situations.
Steve Kerr was a great role player. He is not
a Hall of Famer. Neither is uh not. Neither is
Andrew Goodala And frankly, you know, I don't actually think
(09:15):
empirically Draymond Green should be. But the idea that step
somehow wasn't good enough. When it's one on five, and
the idea that the Warriors they're gonna be fine, they'renna
be fine. Glen comes back, Katie comes back, but boom,
(09:37):
but bang, but bang, another championship dynasty lives on. Tell
me when that's ever happened? When dudes come off of
pulled muscles and they're like, no, no, no no, I'm good.
Warriors analyst and former player Clint has a Bookie joins
the show up coming next, I'll ask him if he
(09:59):
thinks the Warriors hand come back spite of all of
these injuries which continue to to to load up. And
you see Andrew Bogat left the game last night like
with the last man standing in the Golden State Warriors
locker room. Please turn the lights off. All that's next.

(11:26):
former player and a good one. Grew up in Tulsa,
played a k UK like Kentucky, then playing the NBA,
including playing for the Warriors. He's now an analyst for
NBC Bay Area. You can fall m on Twitter and
on I g at Klena. That's K E L E
N and a seven. He joins us in the Doug
Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio. Um, how would Clena?
(11:48):
Thanks for joining us? How would you characterize the last
night's game? I would characterize it as the Warriors being
underman honestly, Yeah, that played it, had it out and
forty seven points, and people underestimate how hard that is
to do when an incredible defensive team is focusing their
(12:10):
entire defensive game plan on you. They're helping on every
screen you come off of. And he goes out there
and gets forty seven points and eight rebounds by the way,
and seven assists. So he was wonderful, but he just
didn't have enough help. The Warriors didn't have enough firepower,
And honestly, the Raptors had to win that game. If
they lost that game, to me, the series is pretty
(12:30):
much over because the Warriors are probably getting reinforcements backt
for Game four in the rest of the series. So
the Raptors did what they had to do. They wrote,
let it rip on the board. I guess they did that.
Danny Green, you get eighteen points out of him, It's
gonna be a tough night for the Wars And we
knew that when we saw Danny Green knocking down all
those shots after pretty much every run, the Warriors tried
(12:51):
to make it seem like he had an answer for it,
or Kyle Kyle Lowry was knocking down threes having answers
for the Warriors runs. And then for the Warriors, there
was lineup South Air that probably had never played together,
I didn't play together as much, and there were guys
passing up open shots that normally Clay Thompson would take
and Kevin Durant would take. If those guys are out there. Defensively,
(13:11):
the Wars just weren't good enough, and there was some
defensive possessions where they weren't able to rotate rotate out
the shooters. They were just to step late with their
rotations at times. There are too many mistakes, bad transition defensive,
the Warriors had to be close to perfect, and they
probably needed the Raptors to not play as well as
they did it, not shoot the ball as well as
they did. But the Raptors had way too many guys
(13:33):
playing well, and Steph Curry was the only one that
really had it going to the wars, which you kind
of expected. But the war is just needed more. Um okay,
there's there's a bunch of stuff I want to get
to here. First. The idea of reinforcements on paper makes
total sense. But did you played long enough? I played,
you pull your hamstringing in five days later, you're good? Like,
(13:56):
I just that that's a we We were all operating
in the assumption that if, in fact, Clay and Kadi
come back, they'll be fine. But the reasonable expectations are
they won't whether or not they can go hard, or
if they go hard, they pull that thing again. Like
I just, I do think we're operating under this false
sense of what they'll look like when they return. I
(14:19):
kind of agree if you. We do have to remember though,
that it was kind of characterized as a mild strain,
not pull all the way. And I'm like, yeah, I've
I've pulled my hamstring before. It took me longer than
five days. I know that. And I remember I had
a team make Cored mcgetty who I played with, and
he had a string of hamstring injuries. And the reason
(14:40):
was because he just kept coming back when it was
sevent when it was and he almost felt like he
was good, but his his hamstring didn't feel like the
good hamstring his his his legs didn't feel the same.
He could still kind of still kind of tell a
difference between the two hamstrings, and he would come back
don't like he was good, and then he would restrain
it or pull it a and so he went through
(15:01):
a season of that and and a hamstring injuries one
of those where if you do come back in your
eight even nine, you're susceptible to restrain it or pull it.
And you can ask Chris Paul about hamstrings. He's had
some issues there too, and it's one of those injuries
where you just have to take your time. So I'm
like you, I'm I'm hoping that when he steps out
(15:23):
there he's a percent just for his future and not
having to deal with hamstring injuries going forward, just the
string of hamstring injuries if he's coming back and he's
not all the way right. But I am in pouras though,
because I watched him warm up before game three, and
I think they had already decided way ahead of when
they actually released that he was not playing, that he
(15:46):
was not going to play, and I think that was
the right decision to make, even if he was moving well.
But he was really moving well, and it didn't really
seem really seemed like he was trying to compensate for
that hamstring or he was laboring at all. He really
he wasn't going full speed, but he was going at
a good pace and there was no limp. It didn't
seem like he was having issues with it. And if
(16:08):
you listen to him talk, he was saying he found
it hard to believe that he wouldn't play in game three.
Before game three, that's kind of the way he was talking.
So that's how good he was feeling. So I think
it's great that the Warriors sat him out for Game three,
and he's got another game a day in between here
where he gets there treated and all the nuanced treatments
(16:29):
you want to give him and all those things, and
then hopefully he's ready to go for game four. Okay,
So let's get to the Mark Stevens thing. He's a
minority owner of the team. And there's a weird sequence
there where Quinn Cook twice in a row, drives in
and dude just battish shot, Like, Bro, you need to
we need to work in your finishing package there or
(16:49):
getting to where it's a goalten. Um. So Kyle Lowry
goes diving in the stands and Stevens just kind of
you know, pushes him, and Lowry gets him ejected, says something.
Now he's he's barred of the games, you know upon
further investigation, Um, look, you've played. But you like, I
almost feel like we're getting to kind of a a
(17:10):
reasonable sense. Do I think Mark Stevens behavior was um,
was acceptable. Now it was completely unacceptable. But it's it's
actually not that far a step from the Drake thing,
right where guys guys in the sideline think they're part
of the game and they get into trash talking with
the other team. They think like it's all cool and
(17:30):
like they're not part of the game. I don't know,
I just I feel like we're going a little bit
overboard in our reaction to a dude, I I understand
that you want to be completely unacceptable, but like, all right,
you can't come to the rest of the finals and
you've gotten embarrassed on national TV. Feels like enough for me?
What about you? Oh? The difference between what happens with
(17:51):
Drake and what happened with Kyle Lowry and Mark Stevens
outside is Drake isn't laying hostile hands on the opponent,
you know, and he's he's a massaging his coach. He's
talking trash with his friends from the other team, Katie
and well Katy hasn't played, but Steph and and Clay
and other guys. He's just talking trash. But there's no
(18:12):
hands being laid on on Clay Thompson or the other players,
or that would be an issue. And I think in
this situation, Kyle Lowry dives in there. He's just doing
his job. He's on the court. If you're sitting in
the front seat, you have to keep your head on
the swivel because a guy could come flying over there
going for a loose ball. And that's what Kyle Lowry did.
(18:32):
You can say maybe he was a little extra or whatever,
but that's what he did. And as a fan, you
can't put your hands on a player in that way. Now,
if you're trying to help him up, or you're trying
to push him off of you trying to save someone
that's sitting close to you, if you're protecting your wife,
that's one thing. But I think in this situation, the
Warriors in the league looked at it and they're going, yeah,
(18:55):
he shoved him. That's kind of a hostile act. Obviously
Kyle Lowry took it that way and it looked that way,
and just by the interaction afterwards where they were kind
of yelling at each other whatever, you could tell that
was the case. So in this these ways, I just
I just feel like he crossed the line, and I
feel like the Warriors handled it pretty well. Now he
(19:16):
is a minority owner or investor in oars. You can't
ban him for life, I don't think. But obviously they
banned him for the rest of the playoffs in this finals,
and I think that was the right thing to do.
And then Kyle Lowry also said he felt like he
uttered some really hostile words that crossed the line. I
don't know if there was racist stuff said there, but
(19:38):
Kyle Lowry felt really strongly about so I think the
Warriors really had to do that. Let's get to uh,
let's get to the the k D stuff. Um, what
what do you think he does? Honestly, it's it's kind
of like what we were talking about with Clay. I'm
I'm optimistic that he'll be back for Game four, but
(20:00):
this is really the first day. Today is the first
day that he's practicing, and everybody's just kind of assuming
that it's gonna go great. But that calf is another
one of those injuries where if you're a on that thing,
you could restrain it. That's really close to the Achilles.
You don't want to mess with the achilles. So it's
(20:21):
gonna be tough to simulate the kind of action that
you're gonna see from him in the game where he's
pushing off of that same leg and trying to explode.
But he's gonna be going against coaches and and I
don't know, maybe some players throw him in there with
some token defense and just trying to simulate some of
the movements that you'll see from him in the game
where he's pushing off that leg trying to get to
(20:42):
his spots. Maybe you have him on defense, you try
to attack that leg or you try to make him
push off that leg sideways his lateral movement. What's that
gonna be like. But we'll be able to tell once
he gets in the game if he does play, if
he's favoring that leg, or if he seems to be
hampered by that at all, because he's not gonna be explosive.
And best believe the Toronto Raptors are gonna try to
(21:03):
attack him on the defensive side and really test that
leg and Clay pounding the same thing. They're gonna try
to attack them on the on the other side of
the floor and see if they're really healthy and and
the wars are gonna do their best to to make
the right decision, because again, you don't want to put
these guys at risks of re injury and this could
be a long series, obviously, you want to get guys
(21:25):
back and healthy. And and it was rough watching the
Warriors super shorthanded and and just being taken advantage about
Toronto Raptors, a great Toronto raptrew team, But you have
to think about the guy's overall career in the big
picture here, and it's not just about this one game.
So is KTI better than No Katie? Of course, but
(21:47):
for him, is that the case and if he's more
at risk of re injury, is it's smart for KD
to play, So they'll make the right decision. And to me,
if he's out there, if either one of those guys
are out there, it means they're pretty much to me,
yeah they're not. I just I don't. I don't know.
We're all making huge, huge assumptions. All right, if they
(22:07):
come back and they're close to you still have faith
the Warriors win the series. I do. I do. I
think there's gonna be an adjustment period with KD. He's
probably gonna be a little rusty, more RUSTI than Clay
obviously because Clay hasn't sat out as long. But I
really think fully healthy, the Wars are still the more
talented team, and I trust the Warriors defense and key
(22:29):
moments to come up with a big stop, and I
trust the Warrior's ability to close and close games. I
think these two teams are maybe closer than people think.
And the Toronto Raptors are are really really talented, and
Kawhi Leonard will just kill you without saying a word.
He's a silent assassin, and it's almost annoying to watch
him play because it doesn't even really look created at me,
but it's just so effective and he gets it done.
(22:51):
His pull up jumper game, he comes off a ball
screen super slow and just gets to his spots. He's
a bulldozer. He's pretty much the guy that ended Looney's
playoff for although I'm here and he may come back,
which is incredible, But I just feel like the Warriors
as a team are still better talent wise, and then
they have the closers, the guys with ice in their veins.
(23:14):
I was DeAndre is All hitting that huge shot in
Game two to get the job done. It could be
a six or seven game series, but I trust the
Warriors and their closing ability and their championship mentality and
the confidence they have in the swag that they play
with to get it done. If fully healthy. Awesome stuff.
Glenna has a book, of course, it works for NBC
(23:34):
Bay Area falling on Twitter at Klenna seven Clinna, thanks
so much for joining us. Men really appreciate it. No problem.
That's like Clena as a bouquet joining us on the
Doug gott Leap Show. Be sure to catch live edition.
So the Doug Dot Leaps show weekdays at noon Eastern
three pm Pacific. And it is one of those things
where I've told you guys this before. You ever been
on the streets of New York City after snowstorm? Man,
(23:57):
this is a beautiful city. It's amazing quiet trees, the architecture,
the roads, It's really an amazing place. Then you realize
what screws it up? Oh? The people? Right, And it's
like watching the game last night, like, let's screwing it
up the people like one guy billionaire, three common guy.
(24:23):
And you know, I don't know what he's doing. I
will say this, everyone assumes that player comes diving into
your lap. Was that his wife? He took that that
Kyle Lowry took out by the way, like Kyle Lowry
plowed to her feet. Were playing. That's a charge where
I'm from. Okay, that is player control. Yeah, that's the
old school put the hand behind the head charge. Right.
(24:47):
Kyle Lowry goes diving into the stands to get a basketball.
And this this, uh, my wife likes to use the
term han yak. This hag yack. She's an Okay, she's
han yak. Mark Stevens like shoves him now, Like, let's
be honest. He also shoved him and then turned the left.
He was to his left and he turned his left
shoulder like almost like a I'm not even looking at you.
(25:11):
That didn't really happen type of thing, almost a no
look shove, but it wasn't A shove is more of
a push. So the first thing is, yeah, dude, don't
put your hands on somebody. The second thing is you
put your hands on somebody, there's a chance they put
their hands on you back right. That's kind of the
way the world works. And I liked the Kyle Lowry
just he did what This is what I thought Russell
(25:32):
Westbrook should have done. You pop up, you point to
the guy, and you go this one goodbye, because you
have that power as an NBA player. Remember, um Mark
Stevens is not a minority owner, right, we want to
eliminate the word owner. He's the minority limited partner in
(25:53):
the partnership group that doesn't own. But they they hold
the rites to all of the shares of the Golden
State Warriors. They didn't purchase ownership. Joe lacop in his
group didn't purchase ownership they're maintaining control. But they don't
control any individual person. No no no, no, no, no no no,
(26:18):
uh not even the intellectual properties. Only the brand name.
They control. The rest they allowed to flourish like as
individuals like like like like ants on a nature reserve. Right,
just you guys, go and populate. They're not answer, you're
(26:40):
more important than ants. Although ants can lift like ten
times their body weight. But we've got this like ridiculous.
We just this is I'm just telling you, like, this
is what happens with with the Drake thing. I didn't say.
I don't think that what Rakes saying is offensive. I
(27:02):
don't is it enough? Like yeah, I've had enough of it.
But when you empower a guy and and remember did
you do we have what Draymond Green said about Drake,
this was interesting. Draymond was asked about Drake and about
how prominentve he is on the sidelines and about all
(27:23):
the things that he does, and like Draymond Green's own
words kind of tell you a little bit of the
story of a guy like Mark Stevens take a lot
of Drake talking on the sideline, Like I think so
many people make a big deal out of it. It
is what it is. He a fan, he talked, and
it gets more attention because he's Drake. So many people
(27:43):
have complained about it, like you know that any other
fan do that? Yeah, any other fans is not Drake,
so they probably shouldn't be able to do that. That's
just kind of how the cookie chromos us. He's worked
his ass off to be who he is, and I
think we all know when you do that, you get
more leashed than others. So I think they're so much
talking like the NBA need us know they don't. He
(28:04):
worked will be who he is. You should get more lease.
But I don't mind it. It's fun for me. Okay,
Like Mark Stevens is where two point three billion dollars?
I don't know what was he born on third base
and thought he had a triple was he? Was he
a silver spoon kid? Or is he? He's just probably
(28:24):
a Silicon Valley dude who's invested really, really smartly. It's
probably started a company, sold his own company two or
three times over, probably started to garage and then worked
his way into doing something else. And now he's a
venture capitalist, which basically means like he sees something he
wants it, he buys it, he builds it up, he
sells it. Again. They just money makes money, right, And
(28:46):
and anyone else talk what Straightmon said? Like anyone else talking? Well, like, look,
Drake's worked really hard. He's worth a lot of money.
He's allowed more leeway. That's what Mark Stevens thinks. Again,
I didn't say it's okay, but I'm saying the same
thing does in fact apply. And we said Drake was like, well,
(29:07):
it's different. It's different because he's a he's a he's
an international ambassador. It's different because the international This dude
actually paid money. He actually put in on it. He
actually like, what do you need? You need a hundred
million dollars? Okay, here you go. I got I got,
I actually have. I actually have like I I actually
(29:31):
have a little bit more than that if you want, like,
hold you see a hundred million dollars, that's a million
two million, Like that's you can do. He can do
that on his phone. It's like a venmo for him, right, Like,
And Drake is worth a report eight hundred million dollars.
(29:52):
This guy's were two point three billion dollars. Again, doesn't
give you the right to be an a hole. But
basically Draymond saying it does well, we all know him
and he's worth a lot of money. He's worked really hard,
so you know he's a fan. It's interacting. So by
that estimation, the only thing he really did wrong was
the one handed push, which come on, dude, It wasn't
(30:15):
like he stepped up to Kyle Lowry's like make a move,
big boy, go ahead, go ahead, take a squick, go ahead,
go ahead, go ahead, go ahead? What what what? He
didn't do that? Hold me back? Hold me back? He
didn't do that. He didn't even walk down the hall
and bumped shoulders with him, you know, the bumped in
the shoulder guy. Is there anything worse? Like you see
him coming towards you. You know he's not gonna move.
(30:37):
You shouldn't really move, like I have the right away
to even do that. He just went like this like
worst guy ever, Drake. Oh, it's just annoying. But hey
it's Drake. It's kind of funny. I kind of dig it, like, look,
this is the problem. Everyone plays under this same rules,
(31:01):
same rules. And yes the rich guys in the front
rows think that rules don't apply to them. They just don't.
And we create uh, we create an atmosphere. We foster
an atmosphere where those guys the rules don't apply to him,
but it's don't. It's like, and if you want to
(31:24):
know why Mark Stevens would be so entitled to think
he's part of the game that he can actually push
a Kyle Lowry with one hand when Lowry comes diving
for a ball and takes out a lady who has
planted should have been player control. We established that. Just
listen to how they talk about Drake. That's how all
these guys think about themselves. Right, if Drake can touch
(31:45):
the coach get into a verbal sparring match with Draymond Well,
I actually owned part of the team. I'm were three
times as much. It's in my house. He came into
he came into my airspace, not saying it's okay. But one,
don't think it's the end of the earth, nor should
(32:06):
it be the last time we see this dude in
the NBA arena. And two, you can kind of see
where these seeds have been planted. You ever had your
wife lose an earring two hurts? Right? What if you
lost five hundred thousand dollars worth of jewelry next, find
(32:29):
out who next. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports

Isaac Lowan con treat me to a game. Let me
guess we've got today, Doug Doug guests who from the
NFL had over five hundred thousand dollars worth of jewelry
(33:15):
stolen from their home. Hollywood, Florida. Police said that Bell
returned from the gym recently and found two individuals described
as Bell's girl friends plural gone. Also gone five hundred,
(33:35):
twenty thousand dollars worth of jewelries, including two gold changed
with chains with diamonds, a pendant with black and white diamonds,
and a Rolex watch, a healthy five hundred and twenty
thousand dollars worth. It's a lot that's a lot lot
um not conflicted one on this one at all. I mean, obviously, uh,
(33:58):
you do feel violated and you get something stolen. There's
just so much to unpack here with the story though,
Like right, his girlfriends plural yeah, yes, and he thought
they were working together to both be his girlfriend and
sucker boyer every minute. Right. You know what's undefeated? Right? Music?
Still undefeated, always undefeated, not not just father time, that's
(34:23):
still undefeated. U. I guess, look, you don't deserve to
have your jewelry stolen ever, but who what dude has
five dollars with the jewelries? This normal? Well on the
bright side for Bell, at least there were no Super
Bowl rings for girlfriends to steal. A terrible human being,
(34:45):
and I like it. Doug, guess who is getting adjusted
to the increased arm strength of his new quarterbacks? Saw
the Zoe Beckham your two for two? He told reporters,
I'm gonna have to get adjusted to the speed because
Baker Mayfield's out an arm. He's throwing that ball hard sore.
Just catching it from him. The first day, it was like, wow,
this is completely different. It just takes time. Again. We
(35:07):
play in September, so it's a good thing. Yeah, I
was waiting. Did he do the he he said something
in regards to Eli, meaning he almost did the no disrespecting,
no disrespect Eli Manning. But but like, seriously, that was
like catching slow pitch softball. This is like catching major
league he no disrespect though, right, No disrespect, no disrespect.
(35:30):
Along those lines, guess who said that Odell Beckham Jr's
comment about Baker Mayfield was not a shot at Eli Manning.
Uh well, he said, And I think Baker probably said
it too. Um and I'm guessing Eli Manning probably said
it too. You were close. But no, sugar, it was
Giants head coach Pat Shermer, who would never make a
(35:54):
good professional wrestling heel. He said, I would probably like
winking of the He's like like winking, I hope. So,
I mean, that's not That's not a shot oft Eli.
It's not not a shot at the guy. Why are
you winking? It's a facial tick. The facial tick, the
facial tick. Shermer said, I would probably think of it
as less a criticism of Eli and more back him
(36:15):
getting comfortable with his team. I'm happy for him, he's
getting comfortable with his guys. I wouldn't say it's criticism
of Eli. It's more, Hey, he likes who he is
playing with, unquote Jeez co Man and finally Kawhi Leonard.
Oh you know what, I just gave it away. I
(36:35):
forgot we were playing guests. Is game time on the
Duck Got Leave Show. Hey, listen, no disrespect Eli Manning.
But this guy actually throws a football with the spiral
and hard and but no disrespect none, and he can
kind of read a defense and he's mobile. Not no
disrespect Eli Manning. He's not like old and slow and
(37:00):
makes that Eli face. But no disrespect, Eli Manning. No
dis no disrespect, no disrespect. Like that doesn't clear you
from everything, just doesn't. Darius Slay of the Lions joins us.

He told the world two days ago about the Lions
minicamp and going, I love that alright, like you really,
I'm not going Pro Bowl cornerback Monday on Instagram Live,
(38:03):
he said he won't attend the Lions minicamp um when
asked by a friend why he's not going, Hey man,
I'm chilling man. So we'll we'll, we'll figure out. Remember,
he's forfeited two d fifty dollars a bonus by missing
voluntary workouts. If he skips three days of mandatory minicamp,
(38:27):
the maximum fine would be thousands, six hundred fifty dollars.
He has two years left in a four year extension
he's signed in two thousand and sixteen. He scheduled to
make twelve million bass salary this fall. Darius Lay will
join us a couple of minutes here in the show.
Let me first give you my opinion on the news
of the moment. Katie's not gonna play in game four
(38:51):
and Clay Thompson is and look I'm just as guilty
of this as all of you are, like, Oh Clay's back,
Oh splash brothers, Oh they're fine. Done, I W dub
Dub Warriors, dub ward w dub dub done. But I've
(39:13):
forgotten that it wasn't Clay healthy in Game one? He was.
Didn't they lose that game? They did? And there's a
pretty good chance that here he is playing on a
pulled hamstring and you're like, all right, you can't re
injure the hamstring, Like, no, you just don't know if
(39:36):
you're healed. Anyone who's ever pulled their hamstring, I guarantee
five days later, you feel kind of fine. You're like, yeah,
I think I'm good, and you might jog around a
little bit. You're like, I'm okay, And then all it
takes is one kind of weird tweak and you feel
like somebody shot a BB gun into the back of
(39:56):
your thigh. You think you're healthy, you think you're ready,
but you're not even close to it close. I think
the raptors have this thing, and not because the raptors
are better, just because the raptors are healthier, and we
operate under this ill fated assumption that oh e of
(40:20):
Clay Thompson's No, it's not. You can't hide people in basketball.
You can't can't. There's no like deception there. If they
know that you can't move, they're gonna find a way
to make you move on defense. And while he still
would have gravity on offense, just stand there and shoot
(40:41):
if he can't move, Like, that's all what makes who
they are. So I don't see it, And I'm I'm
a huge fan of the Warriors and think if healthy,
they dominate this series. And I would love to see
a healthy Kevin Durant come back and ride his white
horse in and show everybody he just how great he
is and how impactful he is. But I would also
(41:04):
tell you that I think the chances of that happening, like,
he's not gonna be back. Ready, Do you understand how
high a level of competition this actually is. So just
because the news is presumably good, Oh yeah, it's good,
(41:25):
We're good. We're good, doesn't mean we're actually good. All right,
let's get to Darius Slay of the Detroit Lions joins
us in the Doug Gottli Show on Fox Sports. Ready,
he's just chilling, not going to mandatory camp. Um, what's
this like for you to go through, to be so
public and say I just I don't want to do
(41:47):
it right now, I want my deal change. What's this
like for you? What's the response been like when since
you've come out, Like when when guys don't show up,
we talk about it, but you haven't been shy about
it posting on G Live that you're not going to camp.
What's response Ben, I've been. I mean, yeah, you got
to get to some fans that go crazy, somethings that don't,
(42:10):
but you know I didn't they you know, it's all good,
it's all great. It's just been a great time with
my family, my kids, and you're just having fun. So
what has to happen in order to get you back? Oh? Man,
I mean we'll see how all playing out, you know.
So when that time that we just see how Hi
I work, well, I means it it's just come down
(42:30):
to money, comes down to reworking, restructuring your deals or
something more at play. It's it's a lot in place.
So you know, I let my I let my team handle,
and I let down uh the GM bottom kind of that.
So you know, I kind of stay out of it.
How this shield man, you know, I let my agents
had to do his job the best way you can.
And I'm just saying he Darius like joining us in
(42:54):
the Doug Gotlips Show on Fox Sports Radio. Lines went
through a kind of a weird year last year, new regime,
new style, you guys practicing outdoors, right, What was it?
What was it like for you to be a part
of such a such a dramatic change. I mean, I
mean it was tough. It was rough, you know, coming
from a different coaching staff, but you know we adjusted,
(43:14):
you know, just how they had that just to us
a little bit. So you know, it panned out pretty well,
and you know, we're trying to got a rhythm. You
find um trying to adapt to the culture they're trying
to bring to us and just keep trying to move forward.
Your thoughts on the beer chugging challenge. Your quarterback Matt
Stafford saw saw the game, saw Aaron Rodgers chugging a
(43:35):
beer and unable to finish. He went and just downed
his That that earned points with you. That your quarterback,
unlike the Packers quarterback Cannon Fact chuck at twelve o beer. Yeah,
that's my guy Staff, the guy man, that's my dude. Man.
I know for a fact he probably saw that and
probably thought in his head he'd like to compete, so
he like, I can do it too, like you know,
so I know Staff a little bit, but he probably
(43:56):
and I know him a little bit more like he
probably like and what we're thinking about as that though,
so but me personal, I'll take it as is like yeah, Steph,
lehim know, man, But it's pretty funny, man, it's pretty good,
good promotion, deep funny to laugh. Do you think less
of Aaron Rodgers because he could not finish his beer? Oh? No,
I don't think nothing of Anon Rogers because I don't
drink myself, so too loose to him, so I don't
(44:18):
drink it all so I command him. So that's kind
of rough. Did you you do? You? Odell Beckham Jr.
He said that he had to get used to the
arm of Baker Mayfield now look you can, and the
Giants head coach came out. I was like, no, that's
not a slighted Eli Manning, but that's a slighter Eli Manning.
When you go like, man, I gotta get used to
a guy having such a strong arm isn't it? No,
(44:40):
not really, man, you know, because guys all got so different. Man,
you know, everybody don't throw the same. So Tom break
is still not Tom Brady. But Elik is still throw
a semi yards down still in there. You know. He
might not throw it as hard as him because he's young.
But man, they all thought different, everybody through different. So alright,
so who is who is the toughest quarterback to play against?
(45:00):
You guys have had some tough moments against Aaron Rodgers,
but you played against them all. You are a Pro
Bowl Darius Slay joining us in the Dug Outland show.
Who's the toughest? Oh? I say, I say Aaron Rodgers?
Why because the fact that you know he's a stream
I think he's just a playmaker on the move in
the pocket. Um I said, don't do a lot of
(45:22):
a lot of crazy things before you know me going
agains them twice a year for the longest. I just
don't see too many people guys that do what he
does at a very very elite level, you know. But
you know, right, I mean Tom Brady right there too,
saw me, but you go one at one B. But
he's one of the tougher quarterback. I went against it
because I've seen him the most though, So that's the
(45:42):
one I considered one of the toughest ones I've seen.
Likelihood you're in training camp on time? What's the likelihood
you're in training camp on time? Oh, we'll see how
they're playing out. You know how we have it. You
can't give me. You can't give me a percentage, like
you have to give a feeling either way. Now, I
don't got no percentage all right now, I'm gonna wait
at that time, get here and we just see how go.
(46:05):
But not getting it, like I don't know, Like, look,
I know you have a lot of money. You make
a lot of money two bonus for some voluntary workouts.
That's bold, man, I go, don't you go make that money? Right? Like?
Don't you like that's a lot of that's a lot
of coin darius that two hundred, that's a quarter million dollars. Yeah,
(46:27):
I hear you. Levan lost five hundred thousand dollars in jewelry.
It was apparently stolen by his girlfriends. What's the most
expensive piece of jewelry you have? I don't know. I
ain't got no sense like that, not like that. But
it's just my my watch, that's it. It ain't nothing
(46:50):
like that. Keep it on your wrist. Darius, best of
luck in the hold out. Thanks so much for joiningus
and appreciate you being our guest on Fox Sports Radio.
Appreciate that's Darius Slay joining us on the Dugout Leave
Show on Fox Sports Radio. Paul Pierce came out clean,
came clean relatively speaking about the infamous wheelchair game from
(47:11):
the NBA Finals. Question is um do you believe him?
We discussed next. Be sure to catch live editions of
the Doug dot Leap Show weekdays in noon eastern three
pm Pacific Doug got Lap Show, Fox Boards Radio. I
believe this was triggered by an article from The Ringer
(47:32):
where um it brought up this conspiracy theory type of
thing that Paul Pierce when he was shuttled off of
the floor in Game one of the NBA Finals against
the Lakers via a wheelchair. First, remember he was carried
off the floor, um like somebody who was paraplegic really
(47:59):
at the time of an injury, and he was writhing
in pain. Well, the how to word this, how to
word this? How a word this? Nut get fired. How
to word this nut? Get fired? Uh, the rumor and
the story and the ringer goes. Paul Pierce said, um hm,
(48:19):
maybe partially relieved himself. Um in the number two variety
and out of embarrassment and humiliation, he didn't want the
world to know, and so he had them carry him
off the floor. That's the that's the going story, right,
(48:41):
that's the from the ringer. Here's Paul Pierce on ESPNS
pregame show discussing what what really happened Paul here eleven
years ago today, we'll chair it off the floor. For reasons,
he will keep to himself. WHOA, I just have to
go to a out through you were okay, I'm always
(49:16):
I'm here for the poop. Hum, I just am. Maybe
it's because once you have kids, Ramos has been through
this and it's gonna be through it again. Right, you
have the book Everybody Poops. You just you have a
completely different and I also think dog owners same way
because you actually pick up the poops between picking up
(49:37):
dog poops changing baby baby diapers. Um, I actually did
I tell you guys remember the cat story when I
traveled across country with my cat, did you guys ever
know this story. One of my daughters uh greatest possession
earthly possession is her cat Sasha. We adopted the cat
(50:00):
last time we lived in California in two thousand fourteen,
and um, the cat is awesome, fair as cats go,
super easy. I would estimate sleeps on average twenty three
and a half to twenty three and three quarters hours
out of the day, So low maintenance. Whatever. Only gets
(50:20):
up to use the restroom or to eat her food
or to mew at you so that you feed her
more food. That's about it. Other than that she does nothing. Um,
But because of schedules or whatever, I was just like, hey,
I'll take the cat to califorlic Like, how hard could
it be? Right? Throwing her bag travels below, should fall asleep, No,
(50:41):
no problem, I get I get to California. And I
was actually stopping in Oklahoma to do uh for a
speaking engagement. So I flew from Connecticut or actually New
York City to Charlotte. I had to stop over and
then flew into Tulsa. When we were landing in Charlotte,
the cat, the cat was making a bunch of noise
(51:03):
and I smelled something that was awful, like the worst
smell I'd ever smelled. Well, here's the thing, cat um
fecal matter. I didn't actually know it smelled what it
smelled like, or it smelled that bad because usually it's
an a kitty litter and the kia litter has a
scent and it kind of covers it up, and even
(51:23):
when you empty it, like you don't get the full
essence of just how bad is. I knew cat pee
smell terribly. I had no idea about cat. So I
get to Charlotte and I realized, and then we're stuck
on the plane and I'm like, what is that smell?
Turns out to my cat And you get there and
(51:43):
there's like a dog era. There's doggy relief stations like
astro turf and like a fake fire hydrant where the
dogs can go. And I take her out to see
if maybe i'll put together the litter box that I
had to blow a portable litter box, and I realized
it's all over her body, so I have to take
her into the bathroom in with it Charlotte Douglas Airport
(52:06):
and like wash her by hand and then try and
wash out this thing, and like people are coming in
and you guys have seen the jif of the baby
who comes into the room and then see something and
goes whoa and turns around. That's what people were doing
in the restroom in Douglas. Internationally, everything is Douglas International
(52:28):
Airport and Charlotte. So I did my best to get
her kind of cleaned up. I did my best to
get the pet carrier cleaned up. We fly to Tulsa, Oklahoma,
and I washed her again, this time in the bathroom
of the hotel that we're staying in, and eventually we
fly to California. But the story was just ridiculous. But
(52:51):
you know, like me, dealing with cat poop is not
as much as me pooping my pants, especially on national TV.
So the first thing is, do you believe the story
right that all of a sudden, Paul Pierce, eleven years
later shares that he had to really had to go
to the bathroom and the reason he was pulled off
(53:12):
the floor was because he had to poop, or maybe
he had he had soiled himself a little bit music,
I guess so. Um. Otherwise, I'm not sure why you
would admit such a thing on TV, because that's quite
a story to admit to if it's actually not in
fact true. Mhm um, Well, it's because he's been made
(53:37):
fun of for for pretending like he was thinking he
was so badly hurt and then coming back and playing
in that same game. Maybe that's the only thing, right,
I guess that's true. You'd rather be known as the
guy who may have unfortunately let one slip a bit,
as opposed to the guy who is so overreactive to
a minor energy injury that he had to be carted
(53:58):
off and then came back. I'll get Yeah, I don't.
I'm sorry. Like, I think it's possible he had to
go to the bathroom. I think it's possible he might
have um uh yeah. There's there's a term there for
when you break win and you go at the same time, right,
I think that's possible. I don't think that's the reason
they had the wheelchair, So I don't necessarily think he's
(54:21):
lying in terms of him having to go to the bathroom.
I do think he's not being honest as to why
they wheelchaired him and carried him off the floor. Rahmas,
what about you? Oh? I can say ju is typical Celtics.
That's what they do. Lion cheat to Isaac, you want
to get it on this debate. I want to get
(54:43):
in on the debate. I don't want to tell any
personal stories about my experiences over the years I had
I had a problem with this. Okay, well, all right,
this is like a therapy session. Yes, okay, So long
story short, I'll share. I'll share mine. Go first, all right.
I was broadcasting a high school football game once, many
(55:04):
years ago, and I broadcast the entire second half in
a state of gastro intestinal emergency. The second we get
off the air, I race downstairs miraculously. Uh. And you
know high school stadiums don't have multiple facilities. Uh. The
first restroom I saw, both stalls were filled. The second
(55:26):
restroom I stormed into. One stall was in use. The
second stall had its door missing. But beggars can't be choosers.
And I'll leave it at that. So you you went
with the stall missing, the stall door missing. Yeah, I
got it, and I had a crowd cheering me on. Um.
So my final game of college we played in the
(55:51):
Elite Eight against Florida in the Carrier Dome, and the
night before, uh, one of my teammates, Brian mottin Atty
and Fred Jouncing two are two starting, big guys. They
both got some sort of gastro intestinal something which started
to affect me the day of. And they were they
were they were either yelling at the porcelain god or
(56:14):
um yelling at the pavement. I'm not really sure. I
don't know. I think it's coming out both ends. So
I didn't feel good, but I can't say that it
was as bad as them. We got back home to
still Water, Oklahoma, having lost our last game, and you
feel terrible anyway now, Like, actually, I do feel terrible.
I feel sick. And I woke up the next morning
(56:36):
and my just my I felt like my guts were
on fire. And so the way you handle in college
is you go see the team doctor who's over at
the you know what, wherever the training room is, and
that's how you get whatever you need to get, you know,
you know, that's that's basically your doctor when you're in college.
So I got into my car and I was I
(56:59):
was driving to see the doctor, and I gambled and lost.
You guys know what gambled and losing is that's when
you think you might be breaking wind, but you're not sure.
And you risk it and you didn't break wind. It's
called gambled and losing. You like that term gambled and los.
(57:19):
I gambled and lost. So uh. And actually it may
have been on the way back. I think actually may
have been on the way back from the doctor. I
think I I got some medication. I was on the
way back, and I remember I walked it because I
walked into my apartment and I like tried to like
clench my backside together and go up to my bat
(57:41):
my own room in my two bedroom apartment without anybody
seeing me. And my girlfriend now wife was there, and
she's like, what's the matter with you? Why are you
walking so weird? And I said, I, um broke wind.
Only I didn't just break wind. And to this day
she'll never let me hear the end of it, right, like, Oh,
(58:01):
don't worry about it. Dad once, you know, pooped his
pants when he was in college. So I do think
it happens. I do think he had to go I
don't think that's the reason he was wheelchaired off. Fox

on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Buke Um, do you buy
the pulpier story? No, not at all? Which and which one?
Because I think he's denied it at this point that
it was. I mean, first it was he soiled himself,
(58:43):
and then it was no, I only soiled the Lakers
in that series. So I don't know what to believe,
but I am not going to get carried off the
way he was carried off. If indeed, I'm worried about
me having soiled myself. Correct, correct, that that was it
was an overreaction. He thought he'd torn up his knee,
and maybe maybe there was a little maybe there was
(59:04):
a little uh leakage in the backside, but that's not
why he was carried off like he was dying exactly
exactly and it took him all an awful I mean
he was carried that way. If it was, it's just
that the whole story doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
And yeah, I just know so ultimately, no, I'm not
buying any other Okay, So let's get to let's get
(59:27):
to today, and then we we'll work back to last night.
Steve Kerr said, just said moments ago there was no setback.
He thought today would be the day that Katie be
back out in the court. And there's still some uh,
some sort of hurdle to be cleared. Uh, you actually
kind of predicted this thing. You're like, look, I don't
know he plays at all in the series. Why is
he going to Toronto? I thought that's the way in
(59:48):
which he could get back out in the court because
all their guys would be in Toronto. What's what's really
going on with his calf? Well, essentially, it is a
very it's a serious injury, and k D wants to
find a way to get back on the court, and
he wants to convince people that it's worth the risk
and that he can that he can play. So he
he's pushing to get back on the court, and cooler
(01:00:11):
heads are simply prevailing as far as the people around
him who are saying, you know, this is what I
heard from the very beginning. They think it's too high
of a risk for him to play in this series.
There's we keep looking at this and measuring it in
terms of days and the type of injury that he has,
and the fact that it is a recurrent thing for
him is not something that you measure by days. Clay
(01:00:33):
Thompson very likely to play in Game four. Why because
he didn't have a history of hamstring issues and this
is in a different category. This is something that is
borderline chronic for k D. And as he said when
he first did it, it's the worst that I've ever
had so looking at free agency, looking at where he
(01:00:53):
is in his career, looking at what the the the
the uh, you know, the opportunities and the options that
he liked to weigh this summer doing something catastrophic to
his calf, which is there's a great degree of possibility
for that if he were to come back and play
(01:01:13):
in these finals, is simply not worth it. So today
you're supposed to play three on three. I don't know
whether he played three on three or not, but there
is a certain physical hurdle that he has to get
past in order for them to even consider playing him,
and quite clearly he didn't get past that today. Why
(01:01:34):
or maybe how is Clay Thompson gonna play when he
just pulled his hamstring a couple of days ago. I
you know, I will say this. I had a hamstring
pull once upon a time. And I am not in
any way comparing myself to Clay Thompson. But I did
go to a doctor who was able to take me
(01:01:55):
up in a way that alleviated the stress on that
hamstring for where it was. And I never thought that
that was even possible. I thought, once you had strained it,
pulled it, whatever you did, you have to wait for
it to recover. And he take me up in a
way in which I was able to play. Now was
I able to go that I fully trusted. No, But
(01:02:17):
I could. I could run without pain. And so I
believe there's a way for them to get there. And
uh and and obviously all of it is the degree
and the severity, but I'm kind of I'm kind of
on this too, which is, um, Look, Steve Kerr wouldn't
be giving him to go ahead if if there was
(01:02:38):
still any question that he's not he's not capable of playing.
So I'm going to because Steve Kerr and what I
know about him, and that he would air on the
side of caution. The fact that they've already cleared Clay
to play in Game four. I don't understand it is
you don't, But I know that it's possible. I know
that we operate. We all operate on this assumption that
they can win without a D. But but that's assuming
(01:03:02):
Clay is healthy, Like he's not healthy. I just I don't,
I don't see it. It's also, are we going to
get what we got from de Marcus Cousins in Game two?
And is Andrew Bogett going to give you even more
than he's given you at any point in this series?
Because or as Jordan Bell suddenly going to become something
(01:03:23):
that we've never seen him, become the guy that nobody
is talking about that I think his absence was had
a profound effect on Game two or Game three? Excuse me,
was Cavan Luney. They don't have anybody who can replace
what Cavan Luney does. And I'm less worried about adding
another offensive weapon for the Warriors then I am adding
(01:03:45):
some defense that's going to prevent the Raptors from shooting
overall plus from three and from the free throw line.
I think the Raptors are only going to get more
comfortable against this impaired Warriors team and any time. They
didn't allow themselves to be trapped on one side of
(01:04:07):
the floor, and there was player movement and ball movement.
They got anything they wanted. And I don't know that
Clake Thompson coming back is going to change that. This
just in from Woads. Brooklyn is trading Alan crab and
the number seventeen pick in the two thousand nineteen draft
and a protected first round pick in two thousand twenty
to Atlanta for Torrian Pin, Torrian Prince, and a second
(01:04:29):
round pick. So what this does is it clears eighteen
million dollars in salary cap space, gives them two max
contract slots, open the door for Kevin Durant to join
Kyrie Irving in Brooklyn. And uh, if I'm the I
mean this is interesting because Brooklyn has actually been here before, right.
(01:04:54):
People forgetting there was the we want we want Darren Okay,
Darren Williams, and we want Dwight Howard and they got
Darry Williams and they couldn't get Dwight Howard and they
never got to where they and now we're kind of
they're they're back, They're back in this in this place. Um, Look,
I lived I lived in the Trista area for the
(01:05:14):
last three for three years, and I can tell you
that Brooklyn is on fire right. It's a place Williamsburg
is as expensive as any place in New York to live.
It's it's it's hot, and it's a cool but it's
it's not on the island of Manhattan. It's still the Nets.
And I just wonder if, like, are those guys really
(01:05:35):
gonna go to the Nets? Does that? Is that a reality?
Do you think that ultimately becomes a reality? Uh? I
believe that Kyrie is going to be there one way
or another. That's where Kyrie is going to end up.
Who joins him is the real question. And I know
that Katie and Kyrie have talked about playing together. I
know that they want to play together. The plan is
(01:05:56):
to play together. But the allure of Brooklyn for k
D is the part that I'm still having a difficult
time wrapping my head around. I I still see him
and this was the first you know, first heard of
him going anywhere. It was to the Knicks, and he
(01:06:19):
has a lot of ties and connections to the Knicks
organization already, and so it's until I the struggle and
I just told somebody this, uh, in the last twenty
four hours. What I don't know is the depth of
the relationship between Kyrie and k D because ultimately that
(01:06:40):
would have to win out for everything else that I
know about what k D aspires to and the connections
that he has with the Knicks, the Knicks just make
more sense on that level. But if there is a hey,
you know what, if this is a Russ Westbrook Paul George,
we have a connection and regardless of where I'm playing,
(01:07:00):
it's more important to me that I'm playing with this
guy that would have to win the day. And I
just don't know at this stage if that is what's
going to win the day. And if somebody else said
to me, whatever you think, Kady is probably gonna change
his mind twenty five times between now and when he
ultimately makes the decisions. So don't go too hard with
(01:07:21):
anything at this point. Where are we with Anthony Davis?
Anthony Davis is a matter of, uh, let's see what
what the what the best deals are on the table,
and I would imagine that the Knicks are measuring Okay,
(01:07:41):
Kyrie is indeed going to Brooklyn. What is it that
we have to do to be able to make sure
that k D comes here. If it's an acquiring a D,
then they sweeten it, maybe a little bit more than
they would like, but ultimately that's where they go. I
just I don't see anyway anyhow. I know that the
Makers are the preferred destination. Just everything that I know
(01:08:04):
about what Gayl Benson has said, and the opportunity to
make a deal equal or better someplace else, I just
find it hard to believe that a D is actually
gonna aligned up with the Lakers. And then what about
the Celtics. Like I've been told the Celtics they don't
care that A D has enlisted them as as a
team he'd like to go to. Where are they if
they lose Kyrie Irving? I it's hard for me to imagine.
(01:08:28):
And and and you can say all you want, we
don't care. We still make a deal for him. But
if he's not going to re up with you, uh
other people, what you would have to give up to
get him is not going to be commensurate with what
New York or even the Lakers for that matter, are
willing to offer. Because Boston would have to give up
(01:08:50):
some of their their young talent, and you would have
to do it knowing that a d is gonna walk
out the door a year from now. That just seems
like a bad business maneuver. This is this is posture
ring and saying we're not afraid of you, saying we're
not going to be on the list. The reality is
the risk is too great if he if he holds
true and says I'm happy, I'll happily come there and
play for a year, but I'm not signing up long term.
(01:09:13):
That's a deal that the Celtics can't ignore. Rick Buker
from Bleacher Report and Fox Sports One Great Stuff, Talk
to you soon. You got it all right, So you
got the story of the day, which is Katie won't
play in Game four, Clay Thompson will play in Game four.
Dan Patrick would take Clay Thompson over Kevin Durant. Find
(01:09:34):
out why. Next. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Doug dot Leap Show weekdays at noon Eastern three
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart
Radio app. Nick Bob Buddy of Mine Basketball Isnalyists and
Fox Fox Sports Radio hosted join us next tower. We'll
talk hoop, the high level hoop discussion plus you got
(01:09:56):
the press and my thoughts on Draymond and Iguadala and
the mistake we've all kind of fallen into. But every
day this time, every day, this time, we'd like to
get you caught up on something you may have missed.
On earlier show on Fox Sports Radio, we had the
best radio lineup in the country bar none. Clay Travis
into Dan Patrick into either Colin Cowherd or Rich Eyes
(01:10:17):
in into me into straight at the Vegas and the
odd couple. Uh. You got Jason Smith and Mike Harmon
and of course Ben Maller you got that's you got
great shows. So either Fox Sports Radio or Fox Sports
One TV shows. We clipped something. We like it, we
don't like it, We talked about it. We call it.
(01:10:40):
Say Nan Patrick griller today who apparently can only eat vegetables.
You guys know this because the chemo treatment is going through.
He's like, I have to eat uh steam vegetables every meal.
Sounds delicious anyway. Uh, this was Dan Patrick earlier today.
I asked if he would prefer to have a healthy
Kevin Durant or healthy Clay to umpson if you can
(01:11:00):
only have one warrior. He had this to say I
take Clay, I'd take Clay because that's that's a bit contrary.
I would think Katie b would win that I gotta
have somebody at least trying to guard Kauai and and
Clay gives me offensive and defense. You know, absolutely, Durant
has been an a great all round player. I would
I would want Clay Thompson because I gotta do something
(01:11:23):
with Kauai. He had a quiet thirty last night. Um,
Katie is a pretty good defensive player. He's not Clay Thompson,
but he's a pretty good defensive player, and he's a better,
far more diverse offensive player. I would disagree with them.
I think most people would disagree with them. But I
(01:11:45):
also think that what what what Dan is getting to
is something frankly that Rick Buker just talked with us about,
which is like, hey, we're kind of underselling. They don't
have Kevon Looney, so they're way different defense lee at
the rim, which by the way, is another reason I
would like Kevin Durant because he's probably their best or
second best rim protector as a shop blocker as well.
(01:12:09):
So I get what he's saying. I do agree that
while we're we we hyper focus on the offense and
the limitations of the guys who replaced Kevin Durant and
Clay Thompson, and maybe it's the defense that they missed most.
I actually think that because they don't have Looney, they
would benefit even more, even more from having Kevin Durant healthy,
(01:12:32):
with his length, his shot blocking his versatility, then they
would otherwise favorite throwback baseball hat I just I feel
I feel the need to purchase a new baseball hat.
I'm looking at the old Brewers one with the yellow
(01:12:53):
front and the old MB logo, which, for the life
of me, up until like two years ago, I didn't
know that said M that was an end be. I
just thought it was a baseball mit. It's really like
I thought, was a baseball mit with a ball in
the middle of blue and yellow and Um, the old
school Detroit Tigers with the with the with the D
but in orange, remember that one. Um, There's plenty of
(01:13:14):
old school Angels hats, the periwinkle one. Remember there's a
time when Disney owned the Angels, they had periwinkle blue
in their color scheme. I like old school Atlanta Braves.
The baseball hats to me are the old school thing
that you can still rock and figure it out, whereas
I'm not condu I'm not convinced all of them work.
(01:13:35):
What do you think if you're gonna pick one old
school baseball head, I would go I like the Brewers
one that you mentioned, just with the the glove that
looks like an NBA did take me quite a while,
not quite as long as you, but it did take
me a long a long time to figure I was
born in Milwaukee. I should I was a Brewer fan
for a good portion of my childhood. I should have
(01:13:56):
known that I had no idea. I'm just and I'm
not try to admit it. This is not embarrassing, like
Paul Pierce saying, you know, he may have gone number
two in his pants during Game one of the NBA Finals.
What about what about you, Ramos? You're gonna go old school?
I enjoy the Montreal Expos hats. It's a good call.
It's good call a team that no longer exists, team
(01:14:19):
no long longer exist Negro League hats. Negro League hats
also still cool as well. Um I'm wearing currently at
Chicago White Sox kind of the older older one of
the older School, Chicago White Sox back when do you
guys remember there's a there was a year which they
had shorts. That was when they had the Disco demolition
that went awry. They actually had shorts much like a
(01:14:40):
league of their own head shorts. Draymond Green and Island
Andrea Goodala are integral parts of the Warriors, but they're
not Hall of Famers. And last night was why be
sure to catch live edition? So the Doug dot Leaps
Show week days at noon Eastern three pm Pacific. What
Up Doug god Leap Show, Fox for Radio. So many
(01:15:01):
things to get to here a The Doug Outlive Show
on Fox Sports Radio. Million things to get to Doug
otlim shows brought to you by Farmers and Farmers we've
seen almost everything, so we know to cover almost anything
when it's game time, having experienced player help you stay
here the game, put their experience in play at Farmers
dot Com. Craig Kimberrell officially signed with the Chicago Cubs.
(01:15:22):
That did, in fact happen. Okay, so some of the things,
let me just kind of we get to this at
the bottom of the hour, or excuse me, at the
end of the hour. Help me out with the correct
lingo bott the hours after the thirty point of the hour,
what's the last final segment of the hour called end
of the hour? It's just top and bottom. Top of
(01:15:44):
the hour is the very beginning and the bottom of
the hour is get to thirty past the Shouldn't the
bottom of the hour be the actual bottom of the hour?
Well know, because then you're at the end of the hour.
The bottom means you're getting to the bottom, the back half,
the bottom of it. Drake started at the bottom, now
he's here. There you go, and the fat bottom girl
(01:16:06):
makes the rock and world go round. Right there we go.
That's the all the bottom to Oh and apparently Paul
Pierce had some leakage out of his bottom and that's
why he said he was wheelchaired off in Game one
of the NBA Finals. Going back eleven years ago, they'll
be two thousand and eight against the Lakers. There's some
bottom talk to you. Let let me give you a
couple of things. So Craig Kimberall is a Chicago Cub
(01:16:28):
dominant closer last year with the Red Sox, uh previously
with the Braves, is now member the Cubs. That's interesting.
Still Daz Dallas Kiko signed yet not yet. They're talking
about with the Yankees. But you have to shave that
beard to pitch with the Yankees. Uh. Steve Kurt told
us Kevin Durant won't play in Game four, but Clay
(01:16:49):
Thompson will give you my thoughts out on that in moments.
And then the Brooklyn Nets Brooklyn Nets trading Alan Crab.
My boy played for my brother at Cal He's been
on the show before. And the number seventeen pick in
this year's draft. So Atlanta Hawks are gonna have three
first round draft picks again again. They have like nine,
(01:17:13):
eleven and seventeen I think after having three last year.
And they have more cap. They had more caps face
than anybody. So they absorbed and take allan Crab because
of its contract, that clears eighteen million dollars in additional
salary cap space for July. Gives the next Nets forty
six million in salary space, enough to sign a max
(01:17:35):
free agent and even retain a restricted free agent, D'Angelo Russell.
Without Russell, the Nets have two max salary slots. Hey,
that'd be cool if there is anybody good available. Oh wait,
Kyrie has been ruined me to go to Brooklyn, and
Katie has been rumored to want to go to the
New York area and be boys with Kyrie Man. The
(01:17:59):
Nets are in this weird place where they've been before.
They they did this exact same move going back. Sure,
I'm gonna say it's probably around probably around the time
when Paul Pierce says he, you know, had a little
(01:18:20):
accident in his pants. They wanted Darren Williams to be
their point guard. They wanted Dwight Howard to be their center.
That was back when Dwight Howard was good. That was
before everything Dwight Howard touched turned to poop. Remember, Dwight
Howard has like the anti mightas touch. They go to
the finals with the with the magic and then the
(01:18:41):
thing falls apart because he was trying to get stand.
Dan Gunny fired stand talking about with the media and
Dwight Howard comes up and gives him a hug because
he has no idea what he's talking about. That was awkward.
And then from there, from there he went to the Lakers,
where they remember traded a ridiculous amount for Steve Nash
who was a free age and signed d Whight Howard.
(01:19:01):
That never worked. Then he went to the Rockets that
didn't work. Then he went to the Did he go
to Charlotte after that? And then to Atlanta or Atlanta
and Charlotte? I think Charlotte then Atlanta didn't work, didn't work,
d C didn't work. Who Dwight Howard play? Did he
stuck with the Wizards the entire year? No idea, But
(01:19:21):
they've done this before, clear out space for two guys
and they didn't get the second guy. Feels like they're
gonna get Kyrie Irving? Will they get Kevin Durant. We
we just don't know. Who knows. I don't even think
kay d knows? Is that really once you wann entire
ship too? The Nets have had more success than the Clippers.
(01:19:42):
Like the Nets have been in the NBA finals several
times over. Then that's one an NBH A B A championship.
Then let's have their own arena and it's a beautiful arena,
but they're not on the island of Manhattan. And when
they were in the NBA finals, Like does anybody remember
when they were in the NBA finals? That was actually
the lowest rate NBA finals. Like if you go back,
(01:20:04):
you're like yeah, it was the Spurs. Do you remember
when this Spurs you're playing the New Jersey Nets. Maybe
it changes now because it would be Kyrie and KAD,
But there is a lack of anybody caring at all
about the Brooklyn Nets outside of Brooklyn. Speaking of k D,
(01:20:25):
he doesn't play last night. Clay doesn't play last night.
We gave you the update on game four. It seems
hard to believe, hard to believe they would win a championship. Uh,
they would win this series. Right now, you have to
win three out of the next five games without the
(01:20:47):
services of k D, or even if k D comes back.
You don't think you'll be healthy. And I don't see
how Clay is healthy. I don't. I just you pull
a hamstring and then their next game is tomorrow. All
of a sudden, you're fine, Like I'm fine. No, you
pull your hamstring, it's gonna go again. That's the hamstrings
do But I need somebody to help me, uh with
(01:21:10):
this argument, which I kind of always felt like was
super forced on one end and kind of forced in another.
Andrea Goodalla had an unbelievable Game six against the Houston Rockets.
He had five threes, he hadn't hit five threes in
a game in over five years. He hadn't hit more
(01:21:34):
than three threes in a game all season long. Kind
of crazy. So he does have this ability to dial
up the greatness when greatness is called upon. That's called
competitive greatness. But Andrea Goodalla is not a star or
a superstar. He's just simply a great role player with
(01:22:01):
um He's just a great role player with the Golden
State Warriors. And the perfect example that is last night,
you know when when we say it's Steph with nobody
around him, and then you're like, well, Andre Goodala is
a Hall of Famer, Like, okay, he was All Defensive
(01:22:21):
first Team once, second team twice. He was on the
All Rookie team. That's it. He got selected to Olympic team.
He gets selected to a World championship team. His best
year's points wise. We're with the Philadelphia seventies six ers.
Remember they trade away Allen Iverson and he became the guy.
(01:22:45):
He was the new AI. He signed a huge contract,
but they didn't win the playoffs. And even though he
averaged over twenty a game and was you know, over
twenty game, like, no one thought he's one of the
great players in the game, did we Has he ever
been in a discussion for as being one of the
top ten players in the NBA. The answer is no.
(01:23:11):
So last night, when when they don't have Clay Thompson,
they don't have Kevin Durant, you would think, while a
Hall of Famer at this stage in his career won't
be as good as he used to be, he would
still be able to help carry the load. And he wasn't.
So what am I missing? Because he's more clutch than
(01:23:36):
good because he's a very good defensive player. He feels
he fits his roles except his role exceptionally well. That
makes him a Hall of Fame player. And and look,
Draymond Green probably gets in more so than Andre Goodala.
But even Draymond like he he physically cannot pick up
the load if k D and Clay aren't in there.
(01:24:00):
And you'd have to think that while scoring isn't the
end all be all, how many points you have does
not determine how much of an effect you have in
the game. Your ability to read a game and to
to help a team, uh, your ability to to come
through in the clutch and to carry a team offensively.
(01:24:21):
When that's actually needed. That would be part of it,
wouldn't it. How can you watch last night's game, watch
Steph Curry struggled so massively because there's nobody to pass
through that can make a shot. And then in the
same breath, say, but Andre Gadala and Draymond Green are
in fact Hall of famers. Now you can tell me
a with a like Tracy McGrady, and I would to
(01:24:43):
put him in. And McGrady was score but wasn't as
good a team player. And I'd probably rather have Draymond
Green right now than Tracy McGrady at any point in
his career on my team. From pick up ball or
I'm trying to win games, but the hardest thing to
do in the sport is consistently score and get buckets,
and it shows somebody's skill and greatness in the basketball floor.
(01:25:06):
Like I, I would rather have Draymond on my team.
But if you're picking Hall of famers, it's hard to
pick against Tracy McGrady, who led the NBA and scoring,
as opposed to Draymond, who you could lock him into
Jim and he's not going to score ten every night.
Last night was a tough night for those arguing Andrea
Goodala and Draymond Green are in fact Hall of Famers,
(01:25:28):
and if you want to pick out the Dennis Robman thing,
that's fine. Dennis Robmin was the defensive player of the Year,
he was All Defensive Team, but he's also arguably the
greatest rebounder of the last twenty five years in the NBA.
It was eight times he led the league in rebounding,
a perennial All Star and an All Defensive Team guy.
(01:25:51):
Granted didn't have the offensive skill that at times Draymond shows,
but the production is essentially the same, only he didn't
shoot threes, and he didn't touch the ball much and
he just got offensive and defensive rebounds and played great defense.
Nick Nick Bob joins the show up coming next. Does
(01:26:12):
he think that Iguadala, that Draymond Green, that they're both
Hall of Famers Plus kind of feels like the series
is working its way to over with all the injuries
the Warriors have sustained. And does he think Kyrier to
the Nets is a done deal? By next? Fox Sports
Radio has the best sports talk lineup in the nation.
(01:26:33):
Catch all of our shows at Fox sports radio dot

Nick Bile join us in a second. First, we got
breaking news, breaking news from Fox Sports. The NBA and
the Golden State Warriors have suspended Warriors minority owner Mark
(01:26:56):
Stevens through the end of the twenty nineteen twenty twenty
NBA season and find him five hundred thousand dollars. So
we suspended through the end of the twenty NBA Finals.
Doug h Um, I'm gonna tell you, I think this
is a dangerous precedent. I do um again. I I
(01:27:21):
don't think that what he did was right. Like, I'm
not gonna sit here and go like, oh, it's okay
to push a guy. Um. And I hate the guy
that yells out curse words or even yells at opposing
players like they're part of the game. But like, let
me play for you. Something Drake said earlier this week,
(01:27:41):
this is I mean not Drake. Sorry, Draymond Green said
about Drake earlier this week. He was talking about It
was after Sunday's game when they're talking about the interaction
with Drake and uh stuff he's saying on the floor,
And I thought Draymond had a way of looking at it,
which may help or may change your perspective on Mark Stevens,
(01:28:06):
the guy who's worked over two billion dollars um. And
of course he's you know, he's a part owner of
the sorry part managing general partner, you know, the Golden
State Warriors. Here's Draymond Raymond talking about Drake. That's Drake
talking on the sideline. Like I think so many people
make a big deal out of it. It is what
(01:28:26):
it is. He a fan, he talked, and it gets
more attention because he's Drake. So many people have complained
about it, like you knowing that any other fan do that? Yeah,
any other fans is not Drake, so they probably shouldn't
be able to do that. That's just kind of how
the cookie chromos. Uh. He's worked his ass off to
be who he is, and I think we all know
when you do that, you get more leashed than others.
(01:28:47):
So I think there's so much talking like the NBA
needs us know they don't. He worked to be who
he is, you should get more leash. But I don't
mind it. It's fun for me. Okay. So he works
be who he is, he gets more least he should like. Look,
I don't think you should ever put your hands on
a player. Let's not act like he he sucker punched him.
(01:29:11):
And I do understand that you do this so that
guys never put a hand on a player. But isn't
all he's saying exactly. He's the same with Mark Stevens,
who's worked two point three billion dollars. I'm sure he's
worked his ass off to get there. Nick Bob joins
us in the Doug Gottlips Show on Fox Sports Radio.
I hate fans that think they're part of a game,
that talk trash like they're they're involved in the game.
(01:29:33):
But it kind of feels like a little bit of
a contradiction with Draymond saying, Hey, Drake can get away
with stuff because he's worked hard, he's rich, and the owner,
a part owner of the Warriors can't get away with
stuff because he's worked hard he's rich. A little bit
of a double standard there. I don't think there's any
question about that with with all the different things that
Drake has been doing. But you sometimes your your your
(01:29:55):
profile can work for you and work against you, and
I think in in in this case with the Warriors.
It probably worked against him and it's hard. I'm totally
with you, like in the I'm a big I'm a
big believer in Like, what did you think when it
immediately happened? And when it immediately happened, I didn't really
think much of it, Like I I don't know. I mean,
you priced that down to playing your show today. I
(01:30:16):
played my show today. It really wasn't even gonna be Uh,
it was gonna get mentioned, you know, but it wasn't
gonna be a huge story. But because of who he is,
it gets blown up. I get it. Like you were saying,
there's probably a zero tolerance policy that sometimes you have
to have with certain things, and putting your hands on
players is something that there cannot be a sliding scale
or a yeah but with it. But man, let's not
(01:30:38):
act like that was a pretty violent push. But I
totally get how you have to set a you know,
you have to draw a line and let's stand somewhere.
So there you go. Yeah, I don't know. Um, okay,
Clay is gonna play in game four k D's not.
How are you gonna come back five days later from
a pulled hamstring and play? Yeah, that's that's gonna be
(01:31:00):
really hard. The thing that I'm you know, and this
is where you're trying, you're playing like amateur doctor here
trying to read it is I've always felt like if
something was really bad, you see it in the moment
you go down. Like remember CP three last year in
the in the Western Conference Finals, he he popped his
handy down right like it was over walked off the floor.
(01:31:21):
Clay's was landed awkward. Tried to play on it for
a couple more minutes and then it kind of just
locked up on it. And so I think there's a
difference between like really pulling your hamstring bad and just
kind of straining it and kind of having it lock
up on you. But I'm with you. I mean, it's
not like this thing's all of a sudden gonna be
all good and he's gonna be ready to go for
a dent. But listen, if there's ever a time you
(01:31:43):
got to find a way to to to thug it
out and tough it out and and and gut one out,
it's game four. And that's why I think, I mean,
Katie's not coming back right Doug, like if he if
he's not got playing game four, This is it? Right? Like?
This is this is the series? Like if they if
they lose this game? Listening is a rap and I
I kind of think it is a rapp but I'm
not convinced that. I don't know. I don't know why
(01:32:05):
why he's gotten so supposedly in his own mind, gotten
so close. Yeah, I don't know. It's a hard thing
to figure out what helped me out with I feel
like I've I'm taking crazy pills. Where why doesn't why
can't Katie? Why doesn't he sit on the bench and
why why does like? Why can't you? Why is he
not on the bench? I don't know. Is he getting
treatment the whole time? And he had? I I just
(01:32:27):
don't really get it, Like I don't you know, Clay
was on the bench last night, Boogie was on the bench, uh,
right after you know, he went down. If I get that,
if it's a I understand like Game six at Houston
right after it got and went down and he wasn't
very mobile. I get all that. But at this point,
you know, if we believe the rumblings that he's you know,
you see him walk in and all that stuff, I
(01:32:48):
don't I don't quite grasp why he can't be on
the bench. And the thing that's kind of tough about
that is, you know, he sits there and wants to say, oh,
you guys want to make it the Warriors and Katie
the Warriors and k d Well, this is literally like
playing into that where you are separating yourself from everybody
else and not being on the bench. It's not a
big deal. I mean, I don't want to make this out.
You know, it's not He's Kyrie where he was literally
(01:33:10):
Carrie literally wasn't there for Game seven, Like that was weak, right,
for some sort of dental procedure or something, you know,
I mean, it's like, come on, we we all read
into that. But what's hard though, is like That's why
I've loved the behind the scenes footage of him talking
to Steph at halftime of Game two, or him pumping
up Steph heading out like I I'm the type of
guy because I know what the team dynamics are. Let like,
(01:33:31):
I eat that stuff up. And so a part of
me wishes I could see that on the floor more
just to kind of dispel that stuff. And so every
once in a while, some guys don't don't do themselves favors,
and it'd be I think it'd be wise for him
to be on the bench. But at the end of
the day, what are we talking about. It doesn't matter. Ultimately,
what's happening on the floor is what the big story is.
Do you think they can do? You think the Warriors
(01:33:51):
can beat them? I just feel like they're just too
banged up. Man, It's uh, I mean, this is a
this is almost the code read situation for him. I
think the thing that is surprised me the most is Doug.
They can't guard these duds. Gold and State can't guard him.
They they especially last night was when whenever you know
they don't they don't have you don't have Looney, Who's
(01:34:12):
who's become a really important part of what they do. Like,
he feels like his injuries like the Boged injury in
two thousand and sixteen where it goes under the radar, nobody,
nobody mentions that that change that series, that changes this one.
And then like, look, I get that kads Not is
known for his defense, but he's a tremendous rim protector
and he's a pretty good defender, and he's versatile as well.
So you take two, and then of course you take
(01:34:34):
your best defensive player out in Clay Thompson. That's what
you look like. Yeah, well, I mean and even last night,
you know when you got when you got bogged out there,
that isn't gonna be able to go out and hedge
on a on a single pin down. See what they
kept doing with Danny Green to bring him up a
pen down Steph would kind of velcrow it. No one's
out there to switch where that could be kad. Maybe
you're depending on if you're a the smaller lineup, so
now you're having jump shooters come off pin downs for
(01:34:57):
easier rhythm threes and so like. But this is in
This has been something that's happened since game one. And you,
I mean, you're a coach's kid, and you think like
a coach. Every coach will tell you they're way more
in the quality of possession over the course of a
game than they are necessarily making and missing shots. And
I feel like Toronto's quality of possessions have been awesome.
(01:35:18):
And when you're stringing that together, the thing that is
hard is then Golden State can never get in transition.
And that's ultimately where Draymond's at his best and where
things get real messy for the defense because they're getting
scrambled and guys are cutting and all that stuff. The
eighteen O run to start the third quarter in in
Game two, they were in transition a ton, but the
(01:35:38):
reality of that run was it felt like Toronto was
kind of just missing shots. So for as much as
we're focused on the offensive end of the floor for
Golden State, and deservedly so, because last night was pretty
rough when it wasn't Steph doing something, boy, they got it.
They need to be in the solution business defensively. And
I don't know if sometimes the answer is just kind
of you know, you know, you tell us the many
lock up. You just you just guard your I and
(01:36:00):
you've gotta fight through screens and do all that stuff.
But if they don't, if they don't get some teeth
in their defense, Doug, this thing might be over. I
feel like it's a fat lady maybe hasn't sung, but
she seems to be warming up. Brooklyn clears out cap
space for two max contract. Guys. Everybody thinks Kyrie's heading there.
If you're Kevin Durant, you tire your ship to kay
(01:36:21):
To to Kyrie yeah, I mean it depends on what
my old other alternatives are. Are your turns? Are you stay?
You go to New York? I guess bill your own thing. Um,
you could go to either l A like you'r KD.
They're all gonna take you and they all have space. Yeah.
(01:36:44):
I mean, I think the logical basketball answer is to
stay in Golden State. But I think there was this
idea in in Katie's mind. Did I get it? And
I mean, shoot, I've been a part of the peanut
gallery that has chirped a little bit like that. He
thought going to Golden State and winning would silence all
the all the critics, and unfortunately it's somewhat hasn't in
(01:37:05):
some ways. And so I get that now he feels
like he's got to go out there and chase the
critics silencer. And if you're going out there to chase
the critics, silencer, I think you you need to. I
think you've got to be intelligent with it and make
sure that you are teaming up with someone that that
you feel you can you can team up within the
finals and make plays. And so I would say, if
(01:37:26):
I'm him, if I'm leaving Golden State, I would go
I would I would try to link up with Kyrie
or I try to link up with Kemba. I think
Kemba to the Knicks makes a ton of sense to Uman.
He's a New York guy. I think in some ways,
Kimba is one of the more undervalued guys. I mean,
he's he's very similar to Kyrie in a lot of
different ways. Very you know, a guy that is a
ball creator can can make his own shot. Uh. So
(01:37:49):
I think you either talked to Kimba about going to
the Knicks or you join Kyrie with the Nets. Uh
If you if you're truthfully going to make that decision
to go out there and try and shut up the critics,
if you're if you're an what do you think Anthony
Davis plays next year? I think Anthony Davis is. It
depends on it. Like the fundamental question for New Orleans
(01:38:11):
is if they want picks or they want players. If
they want players, I feel like you're looking at the
Lakers or the Celtics, depending on all of what Danny
Anes wants to offer up. But if you want picks,
I think then you may be talking about the about
the Knicks. UM. It does feel like New Orleans is
is kind of hell bent on not doing a deal
with the Los Angeles Lakers. But I'd imagine David Griffin
(01:38:33):
can talk some sense into that and not letting pride
get in in the way of whatever the best deal is.
If if I'm Boston, I really think about making a move, um,
and I don't know who that necessarily means, what that
means you're offering up Tatum or whoever. Uh, But at
this point we've kind of seen what the ceiling is
for this group, and it's not good enough. And what's
(01:38:55):
the what's the use in stockpiling all these assets if
you never use it right? Like what's the use of
having all these vacations days or all these American airlines
miles if you're never gonna capitalize on it and go
to the Bahamas and drink some rum punches, like at
some point cast in on it. And you look at
what happened with Toronto, where there may be gonna potentially
keep Kauai or at the very least they're going to
maybe get a championship out of it. Okay, see got
(01:39:17):
Paul George. You wonder if that provides some motivation for
a guy like Danny As to say, you know what,
let's roll the dice. If we get him into our
franchise and show him every single day how good we are,
how good Brad Stevens is, how good this whole situation is.
Maybe he'll stay. So I still wouldn't count out Boston
to make a move. No, I think Boston's going forward.
I'm I'm with you on that one. I don't think
(01:39:37):
there's any question that they're gonna go for it. The
question is is their offer better than what the what
the Lakers will offer, because I do think the Lakers
w to pay a little bit of a Laker tax,
but I think they'll be willing to go there to
try and get somebody. Um. I don't actually know how
well he fits with Lebron. That's the one thing that
you know. It's like Lebron like stretch fives to stand
outside and shoot threes, and that's not who Anthony Davis is.
(01:40:00):
I don't know. They may think they want to play together,
but I don't. I don't get that one. Nick, Bob,
you can you can hear him every Sunday with Dan
Buyer at five o'clock Eastern time. Nick, you know we're
going up to Pebble Beach next week. Oh baby, you
hear about you hear about what I did that to
that course? Man? No, here, what here? What I did? Two?
(01:40:21):
From the tips, I swear to God from the tip,
not from the tips, not for the tips. And the
rough was not you know, all weed it out. But yeah,
so eight two it's my like, I can't believe I
played the best I've ever played my life on the
best course I've ever been on in my life. It
was like it was like the maker which foundation came
to me? It was unbelieving you really you were like
(01:40:42):
the was it the was it the with the priest
on right, It's like you're the You're the priest on Caddyshack, Like,
good lord, whatever, the greatest out of my life, but
never strike me down. That's what That's what happened. It was.
It was it was unspopthomable. What's the what's the home
course in Omaha? The home course in Omaha? The one
(01:41:05):
that old Dana Altman would take me to sometimes. It's
probably Shadow Ridge Country Club Dana would have when I
was a g A. Some of the best days ever
would be ten o'clock on you know, like an off day,
you know, in the off season, coach would come into
the office and say, hey, Bob, you got you got
your clubs. I'd say yeah, he said, let's go here
we go and we would mean it would leave it
(01:41:27):
ten and we go play golf and talk. So you
don't have a home course. I don't really have a
home court. I'm I'm you know, when you have a kid,
your golf game gets kind of crushed. Now I got
But I also, you don't do local radio there. I
just figured like that's one of those deals where everybody
wants to have Nick bab be get. You have honorary memberships,
much like Jim Nance. Like if you go to do
you anywhere in Connecticut, you go in the locker room
(01:41:49):
like Jim Nances honorary membership. I just thought you'd have
an honorary for her. Well, what I need from Jim
Nance's is backyard, backyard. I would I would never leave
my house. I'll just be you know, just be hitting.
He's the opposite. He always leaves this house anyway. All right,
uh uh, Nick, thanks so much joining us. Look forward
(01:42:12):
to hearing you Sunday. We'll talk soon. Thank Nick. Bob
not a humble brag, just a brag two at Pebble
this summer could be the moment when little Brother Body
slams Big Brother will discuss next. Be sure to catch
live editions of The Doug Dot Leap Show weekdays at
noon Eastern three pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and
the I Heart Radio app. Tough day for SC guys.
(01:42:38):
Huh Man Pat Hayden supposedly wrapped up in this UH
admission scandal and UH now one of their alums, a
big donor is suspended for a year and and forced
to pay five dollar fine for a left handed one
handed kind of no look push of Kyle Lowry. Tough
(01:43:02):
day for SC boys being st boys. Let's get to
our own. Here's Isaac Loan crin the Press The Press
Gallic Show, brought to you by Discover Card. We treat
you like you'd treat you. I treat you. Treat us
to the press. Well, considering what you just said, our
top story might U c l A lum wife is
(01:43:22):
really gonna let me have it when I get home today.
In the NBA Adrian War, Janowski reports that the Brooklyn
Nets are trading Alan Crab and is eighteen point five
million dollar contract in two first round picks to the
Atlanta Hawks, freeing up that amount in cap space, meaning
they've now got to max slots. He also says that
(01:43:46):
the Nets and Kyrie Irving have strong mutual interest. It's
he walked up to Nets said how you doing? And
she said, fine, how you doing? What's your name? What?
What's your major? Yeah? What's your major? A h. The
(01:44:07):
mutual flirting continues. Look, this is there. There are moments.
There are moments where little brother has a chance and
I big brother still big brother. But you know, when
Michigan basketball was down because of probation, Michigan State became
(01:44:29):
more prominent. Now Michigan State. That's another opportunity this year
as Michigan has bounced back in Michigan State has got
a chance to win the national championship in football. You
know when when I was at Oklahoma State, Oklahoma was
way down and Oklahoma State was doing well and started
to beat Oklahoma, but they could never get over the hump.
I don't think that Brooklyn can ever be what the
(01:44:51):
Knicks are and they're not even on the island of Manhattan.
But heck, Manhattan College isn't even on the Island of Manhattan.
I don't know if you're aware of that, So if not,
now when, I don't blame him for going for it.
But it's not the first time the Brooklyn Nets have
gone for it. They have a great arena. It's not
as nice as Madison Square gardens different, it's unique. They
got new ownership, they got hope. I just it's still
(01:45:14):
the Nets. I still don't think people care. New England
Patriots quarterback Tom Brady today expressed regret for applying to
trademark the term Tom Terrific. A bunch of Mets fans
had taken umbrage at it because Tom Terrific was the
nickname of the Hall of Fame picture Tom Seaver. Brady
(01:45:36):
said today, I was actually trying to do something because
I didn't like the nickname and I wanted to make
sure no one used it because some people wanted to
use it. Then it got spun around to something different.
Good lesson learned, and I'll try to do things a
little different in the future. Unquote m m um, Yeah,
(01:45:57):
I mean, I don't know Tom Turp. He has been taken,
but we act like nick nicknames. There's only one iron
Mike Tyson, But how many marvelous There's the Marvelous Marvin,
but there's other Like in boxing, lots of guys have
lots of guys have the nicknames Sugar, right, Yeah, there's
Sugar Chane, Mosty, Sugar Ray Leonard. There's lots of sugars
out there even before that, Sugar Ray Robinson, Sugary Robinson.
(01:46:20):
All right, So if your name was Ray, your nickname
was Sugar. If your name is Tom, like, what are
the other what are the other possible nicknames? Tom Terrific,
Tom Terrible. I mean, you're betther Be terrific to Tom,
Tom the Terror. You should just change it to Tom
the Terror. I'm Tom to tear. So what exactly was
this problem with it? Was it a like a financial
(01:46:41):
thing like people were gonna put that slogan on T shirts?
Is that with it a business thing? Yeah? I think
he just wanted to trademark. I have no knowledge of anything.
High praise from future Hall of Famers was on his
cell phone, but then he destroys itself. Right, da have
this cell phone? You didn't want of those conversations about
the details on his uh Pool covers being leaked again,
(01:47:04):
Larry Fitzgerald high praise for rookie quarterback Kyler Murray, saying
that Murray already knows the system of new head coach
Cliff Kingsbury better than the rest of us do that,
Gerald saying he can get us into any play at
any time, and then he has the ultimate weapon in
the exit button. Yeah, well, that's because it's a high
(01:47:27):
school in college offense and he came out of college
and played in that offense. Like yeah, that and let's
not act like this is the uh the pythagram theorem, right,
it's it's an offense that they'll figure out. But yeah,
he ran the offense in college with a different coach
putting the same offense, and we're like, oh my god,
he knows all the answers, Like, yeah, I took algebra
(01:47:48):
last year and I'm taking algea break in this year.
Guess what I know how to do? Algebra? Not exactly, uh,
trigonometry or the West Coast offense drawn up by Bill
Walsh stay in this region of the country. Chargers head
coach Anthony Lynn says that he expects running back Melvin
Gordon to be at mini camp next week when the
(01:48:10):
Chargers begin. There is and Gordon confirmed that he will
attend UH starting next Thursday. He did not attend. Yeah,
he did not attend the voluntary portions of the offseason
program as he goes into the final year of his deal. Yeah,
I mean, like, how badly was he hurt by Todd Gurley? Right,
Todd Gurley got all that money last year year early,
(01:48:30):
and now he's got what's probably an arthritic knee and
he's no longer the bell Cow and they draft a
guy in the third round. So, you know, Melvin Gordon,
who was injured last year, has the knee issues. They
love him, but they don't love him the way the
Rams loved Todd Gurley. You know. So guess what, dude,
you're not you Will you get a new deal, probably?
(01:48:51):
Will you get a long term, huge money deal, Probably not.
If not, you know, they can always franchise Taggy or
they'll move you back to the NBA. And it's been
lost in all the news about Kevin Durant being out
and Clay Thompson being back and the minority owner being
back after without five thousand dollars, But it was reported
(01:49:15):
by multiple outlets today that despite being pronounced out from
the rest of the Finals by Steve Kerr on Tuesday,
Cavan Louie could actually potentially return to the NBA Finals. Yeah,
but despite fractured cartilage. Yeah, actually cartilage. Like I mean,
it's one of those things when he heard his shoulder
(01:49:36):
and it's like it's not really his clavical it's like
something that attaches to the clavical. It feels like a
pain thing. It feels like something you put a shot in.
He's like, dude, I can play with this. I'll be fine.
Like it hurts, but it's not gonna do major damage
for the rest of his career. And it's not like
it's gonna affect his shooting. He never shoots anyway. He
just catches and dunks. Since all can you lift up
his arm? He lift up your arm in block shots.
(01:49:59):
If he plays, that's a major win for them because
their defense, uh is so much better with him back.
Get out there and pressed the press, all right, got
a day away from the NBA Finals. Look, my this
is a weird thing with the Andreago Dollar Draymond Green.
I'm not saying I wouldn't prefer to have them on
my team. From a Tracy McGrady or a Reggie Miller
(01:50:20):
or some of the other guy Dominique Wilkins, Like dominic
Goilkins never won anything because he didn't play defense, he
didn't take good shots. But he mean, he's a freak
scoring machine. And you know, there are plenty of times
which Dominicq Wilkins was considered one of the best players
in the NBA, and that never happened with Andrego Dolla
and and the inability to, when called upon, take over
(01:50:41):
offensively granted later on his career or even this year
with Draymond Green. We we do have a tendency to
fall in line and go like, oh, yeah, he's a
Hall of Famer. He's a Hall of Famer. I think
Draymond will probably get in because they'll call him the
Rodman of this era. But I'm not convinced he actually
should be in, no matter how great a teammate he is.
(01:51:02):
It's Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.
