remember um, they didn't just beat they pumbled Ohouse State.
Remember they're also eighteen point underdogs to Ohio State. Their

download podcast, and it is readily available. There's been a
lot of discussions about why the NFL's ratings are down.

(01:28):
Roger Dale recently came out and said that fans don't
want to be protested too. And while you may, in
your desire for social justice, have a problem with that,
I do think that what Roger Goodell is saying in
uh and not being so eloquent in saying so, is
the old adage in business, which is this, the customer

(01:53):
is always right. And whatever you think about flag protests,
you're allowed to think about I procast. Whatever you think
about police brutality or whatever there, or Donald Trump or
or Bob mcderry, you're allowed. You're allowed to think these things.
You're allowed to speak of about these things. But it
appears that there's at least a portion of the fan

(02:15):
base that has spoken to Goodell, that has spoken to
Jerry Jones and others like hey, that I want to
come to see football, and it bothers me that said,
I don't think that plays a large role and why
fans are staying away, I don't. I think the number
one reason and we we just get too far afield.
The number one reason that all sports live broadcast the numbers.

(02:41):
College basketball has had this problem forever. College football has
this problem. Did you know there's NFL game tonight? Did
you know that NFL game involves the Seattle Seahawks. Seahawks
and Cardinals have been one of the better rivalries in
football of the last half decade. Cardinals one of the
few teams back when the Yawks were at their absolute peak,

(03:01):
that we're able to beat them. Did you know they
played tonight on National TV? I mean, think about it.
Richard Sherman and Russell Wilson are two of the let's
say fifteen biggest stars in the NFL. They're on NBC
and did you know they were playing? Now, look, you
as a sports fan, or you as a better or

(03:22):
you as a fantasy guy, you may be like, yeah, dude,
I knew exactly I knew they're playing. I'm I'm all in.
But most of America's like, ah, and and this I'm
not trying to compare this to basketball. I'm not trying
to compare it to hockey, to baseball, to college basketball
because the NFL was different. The NFL was the last

(03:46):
of the professional sports leagues to have a kind of concise,
condensed schedule in terms not just of length of season,
button when you could watch those games in the season,
and now it feels like they're on all the time. Alright,
we got Thursday, we got Sunday, we have some early

(04:07):
Sunday because the games in London, we have Sunday, Sunday,
Sunday night and then Monday. It's a lot of windows,
it's a lot of watch You're asking a lot for
us to watch this every day. You just are. And
so what happened to the college basketball season when, uh,

(04:29):
when every college basketball game was on TV, it lacked importance.
You still have Caroline and Duke. That's still the one
you tune into, just like you'll still tune in to
a big game between the Cowboys and the Seahawks, to
a big game between the Patriots and the Seahawks. But

(04:49):
the Patriots and the Cardinals and the Thursday night just
feels like a game. It feels like you've done that much.
Meaning it feels like the regular season is like the
college basketball regular seat. And so I'm I'm fascinated not
by the fact there's a football game tonight, but how
little we care about a football game on network TV

(05:12):
tonight called by at this Toreco call the game, Rico
and Chris Chris Collinsworth like that's a huge, big time
crew that the NFL has done this to themselves in
their own desire to take America upside down and shake
them for money. All right, last thing, let me get

(05:36):
into Alonzo Ball last night struggled again shooting the basketball,
and uh, he says he knows he can shoot, but
it's all in his head. I'd actually tell you that
I think he doesn't even know what what it's all
in his head means. Right, if it's all in your head,
you don't actually think you can shoot, you don't actually

(05:59):
think you can make it. The crazy part about a
Lonzo balls inefficiency shooting the basketball is not that he
can't shoot jump shots. It's that he doesn't even know
his shots inside the paint are what's really limited in
his percentage. Like, look, lots of guys coming in the

(06:20):
NBA and can't make threes. It took Jordan's and granted
a different position, different style, different era, but it took
Jordan's I think seven years to shoot about from three
as a long ass jump shot. But if you watch
Alonzo Ball, play. The reason his field goal percentage is
so low is the fact that he's terrible at finishing

(06:44):
around the rim. Terrible. So, yeah, he shoots the ball
from the wrong side of his face. Yeah, there's there's
some limitations to his jump shot. And the game's moving faster,
and he's shooting the ball out further against better competition,
and he's struggling from three, but he's shooting twent from

(07:05):
the field. From the field in an NBA era in
which you only shoot threes or shoot layups. The problem
Alonzo ball is not the jump shots. The problem is
the layups. And while I say layups, you think wide open,
jump off your left foot, lay in with your right hand,
jump off your right foot, lay in with your Now,

(07:27):
when we say finishing package, it's the ability to make
creative shots around the hoop. M it's it's let's let
me give you the best example, Paul possible. Ben Simmons,
who had one year basically too red shirt last year
because of injury. Is Ben Simmons a good shooter. Ben

(07:52):
Simmons is a horrific shooter. He has not made a
three this season, not one. He's only taken a handful.
He only shoots sixty percent from the free throw line,
but he shoots forty eight point seven percent from the field.
You know why, You're really good at making lamps, or
at least palatable about making lamps. And so while people

(08:13):
are freaking out about his jump shot and shooting on
the wrong side of his face, and we'll talk about
one of the things I think this Laker team lacks
that they need to get in free agency more so
than just more talent. Everybody worries about threes. When my
brother has this expression and this expression that shared in basketball,

(08:33):
you know who wins basketball games, He who makes the
most lamps. More on Lonzo to come take a couple
of year calls. If we watched last night's games eight
seven seven on Fox. That's eight seven seven six three
six nine. Got c J McCullum up coming, Got r
J Bell from pregame dot Com up coming, Got Peter

But up next, how do you take the energy of
what happened in Iowa City last week? Iowa just blowing
out Ohio state and encapsulated, capture it and use it

(09:19):
this weekend in an incredible test on the road against Wisconsin.
How hard is that to do? We'll find out from

(10:45):
At Farmers dot com. We are one of the most
stunning beat downs in college football in recent memories. Recent
memory occurred this past week end. It wasn't just that
Iowa beat Ohio State. They beat down Ohio State fifty

(11:09):
five to twenty four, fifty five to four, um, but
there was also some fake kicks in there. There was
some interesting stuff there to where you you, uh, you
wonder you know, you wonder exactly um what it meant? It?
Did it mean more to Iowa to not just beat

(11:31):
Ohio State, but to run it up a little bit
on Ohio State. What incredible? What an incredible second half.
I mean truly remarkable, truly remarkable, including a great fake
punt that looked like the old swinging gate a little bit,
didn't it. Let's welcome to Kirk Feren's, head coach of

(11:53):
the Iowa Hawk Eyes, fresh off a fifty five win
over Ohio State. By the way, the reward is undefeated.
Uh Wisconsint number six Wisconstant camp randled this weekend coach,
how are you? I'm doing well, Doug. How about yourself? Good?
The fake punt is that swinging gate? Is that what
that is? That's kind of what looked like? Uh? And
and we actually called the polkt lonesome could polkt that? Yeah,

(12:16):
it's something that we copied off somebody's film and then
holding in our pocket for a couple of weeks. The
opportunity opened up and our special teams coach Olivar Woods
told me we would get twenty yards. We end up
getting eight teen, So it was a pretty good deal.
It's pretty good. Like now, all of a sudden, when
the bar wants to come to you with a fake, fake,
fake punt or fake kick that I think it it
holds some water. There are some that say well, they

(12:37):
were up fourteen at the time. Um, is there anything
more to it than just you saw the opportunity or
was it a desire to win by a substantial amount? Well,
you know, really is a respect for their their team
in their offense. And the week before against uh, Penn State,
you know, Penn State had a significant lead on him
in the second half and it wasn't good enough. So

(12:57):
you know, we had a choice of you know, hoping
to be up seventeen or we felt I felt like,
you know, if we had a chance to maybe get
another touchdown, we certainly might need it because they're just
such an explosive team and uh, their their quarterbacks are
tremendous football players, so they've got a lot of good ones.
But yeah, I don't think any of us felt at
ease really until about the last three minutes. It's just, uh,

(13:17):
that's the kind of team you're playing. When you play
you picked him off four time. Your quarterback is pretty
good too, and your offense is pretty good four eight
seven yards of offense. Um, take me back, if you will,
coach to leading up to the game, I understand that
betting lines don't mean anything when you're in the locker room,
and every coach player thinks they can win the game.

(13:38):
And it's your home field, your you nearly beat Penn
State at home early this year. It's not like you
can't compete with the leads of the league. But the
people that set those lines for a living think they're
pretty accurate. How did did you use that as motivation?
Did you did you point out how sizeable an underdog
you were at home? Um, yeah, we pointed out that
we were underdogs, and and uh, but you know that

(13:58):
that's no big news slash when you play a house
and football that's typically the case, at least in my
twenty nine years uh coaching in the Big Ten. It
just you know, they've always got an outstanding football team
and this is no exception. So we knew that we
have great respect for their program, and that their their players,
they're well coached and and all that stuff. So really
our our thought was, you know, first of all, we're

(14:19):
going to play our best football, which I think we did.
And uh, the other part, you know, the story for
our football team really has been, uh, you know, we've
been developing a little bit on defense. We've had some
injuries that have made a little bit. We've had to
adjust some things and the guys have responded there, but
but offensively, it's really been frustrating. Probably for the last
four or five weeks. I think we've kind of uh,
you know, we've got some younger guys. They're part of

(14:40):
that we knew was going to happen, where we're playing
a first year quarterback who's a sophomore, true sophomore. We've got,
you know, two tight ends that are both playing their
first year really extensively, one sophomore one freshman. Um what
we didn't plan on. We have two tackles right now.
One's a true freshman, one is a red shirt freshman
that our planned because we have two of our better
seniors out like Baker and boom Are, so you know

(15:03):
that we didn't anticipate and that's really I think the
combination all that's the additing consistency offensively, and you know,
we've been hoping over the last month plus that, you know,
maybe we'd start putting things together, and we finally did
it Saturday. It was a really good time for that happened. Yeah. Yeah,
I mean, look, you did it a little bit against Illinois,
but I mean against the likes of Ohio State. Nathan
Stanley was incredibly impressive. What do you think got him going?

(15:25):
Because he was in such a rhythm in the second half.
What was it that allowed him to establish that rhythm,
established that confidence against a really stout defensive front. You know,
historically when we when we play with some balance, we're
a better team, and that that's kind of been our
goal from day one. And uh, you know, we were
able to do a little bit on Saturday. We haven't
run the ball very well this year. I think the

(15:47):
injuries are a big part of that in our lack
of experience, But the the guys did a good job
up front. I thought we grew up front that the
younger guys in particular, really kind of grew up a
little bit that day. And I'm not sure I saw
it coming because when we looked at Ohio State State, uh,
you know, they made some comments earlier in the season
out of their camp that they thought that line was
as good as the one that was in Tampa Bay

(16:07):
when one of their coaches coach there. So those were
their words, not ours, and we certainly didn't contest those
words after we saw the film. Those guys are good,
so but our guys, you know, grew up a little bit,
and I think hopefully that will give him some confidence.
As you know, you're an athlete. You can't I can't
give confidence to somebody. You try to encourage that, you
try to grow it. But uh, at some point you
gotta go out and experience things and you know, have

(16:29):
some success. What was it like? What's it like though
to sit there as a Hayden Fry guy and watch
your team in these helmets and jerseys? Like, I know
the kids love him, I know the fans love him,
but you guys have you guys have his iconic a
uniform in college football obviously? Uh, you know, built with
the same kind of the same model of the Pittsburgh Steelers, right,
But to walk out there and have these alternative uniforms,

(16:50):
like are you cool with that? You okay with that? Yeah?
You know Coach Fry put us in the Steeler uniforms
back in seventy nine? Is quoting as in they said
it back in Sports Illustrated. Uh was you know, we
may not look very good after the snap or before
the when the snap takes place, but we'll look like
champions prior to that. And I agree, I think those
are just classic uniforms. So I'm not a huge fan

(17:11):
of alternate uniforms, but I have come to realize I'm
not totally tone deaf that our players really like them. Uh.
It turns out the fans really like them. So you know,
if it has little excitement, I'm more than open to
doing it once a year. And but I do want
to have us to have an identity. And part of
our identity is how we play, but the other parts
so what we look like. And uh so I'm totally

(17:31):
open to it. And I joked about it a week
ago that if you know, my hopes were that everybody say, hey,
those uniforms look really good at the team played even
better and to our players credit that they lived up
to that. So they'll definitely be in the works again
next year. You know. Um uh we had you on
earlier in the season and talk about your wife and
your donation to the children's hospital, which of course overlooks

(17:55):
overlooks Kinnick Stadium. Um, and you know, at the time,
we didn't talk about the wave. This has become the
most incredible and the most embraced new tradition in college football.
If you haven't seen it. There's a portion of the
gift of the game, which I was fans, their coaches,
their players, and opposing coaches and opposing players all wave

(18:15):
to the kids and the children's the Stead Family Children's
Hospital that overlooks the stadium. Um, how did the start coach?
You know, it's a it's really such a neat story.
There's a woman named Krista Young who who is in
a little town, Anita, Iowa, which is in southwest Iowa.
And she kind of had had the thought and I

(18:36):
guess went on Facebook apparently, and and the words spread,
and it sure enough took place in that first game,
and I, you know, I didn't I wouldn't even were
of it until afterwards. But boy, what have I learned
since then. You know, it's just amazing how it's it's
just taken root. And I think it's like a lot
of really neat things in life. Uh, you know, it's
totally organic. You know, it's just somebody had a thought

(18:56):
and caught on. Uh, you know, like wild. It's just
as have been crazy and one of the coolest things
that happened. We played in East Lansing a couple of
weeks after that, and they actually um waived, their fans
waved on on the TV cameras for the for the
kids back in the hospital. So, you know, it's been
such a neat thing, totally organic, it's not commercialized. We're

(19:17):
hopefully as the department, going to continue to make sure
nobody sponsors it um And in these times, you know,
when we have such negative language and so many people
disagreeing about everything, it's it's really nice that you find
something seventy thousand people can agree to. And I think
it goes well beyond the seventy thousand and in our stadium,
And in my mind, I think one of the things
I'm hoping is that it brings awareness not only to

(19:40):
you know, set Children's Family Hospital, but children's hospitals are
all across the country and they're so important in all
of our communities. So it's just a really special thing.
It's a nice way to salute not only the patients,
but the patients families and in all the people that
work so hard to make make the kids better. It's
it's incredible to watch, and you know, you mentioned like
the visceral language. It's also just you know, we sometimes

(20:02):
we take football too seriously, right, Like we like it's
just a game. It was heartbreaking to see your team
play so well and lose to Penn State. But this
provide and I'm sure it's crush. You know, Ohio State,
who thought the week before now we're gonna play for
national champ But it it's like, you know what, there's
some so much more important stuff out there. Just look
up above the stands and you can see these little

(20:23):
kids are fighting for their lives. All they want to
see is a football game, and you're waving back to
them and and making their day. It's it's an it's
an incredible, incredible moment that everybody is paying attention to.
All right, let's let's get to a game that you're
now paying attention to. You guys, you kind of went
through the opposite of this early year. I mentioned the
Penn State game that they win at the very last second,
and then you turn around, you gotta play an East
Lancing and you lose a close win in Michigan State. Um,

(20:46):
this is the opposite where you have a big win.
How do you how do you celebrate it? Carry that
energy over but not get too high in the hob
because Wisconsin is really, really, really good. How do you
And you mentioned the youth of your team. It's sometimes
even more difficult with young teams. How do you approach it? Yeah,
it's it's uh, you're exactly right, and you've been through

(21:06):
this that you understand it totally. Uh. Really, maybe it's
a good thing because we really don't have much time
to celebrate and we I encourage our guys to enjoy
it on Saturday night. Just don't get in trouble, but
enjoy it in a smart way. And because they earned it,
I mean they fought hard and earned it. And and
uh I told him to do the same thing on Sunday.
You know, come in, let's look at the tape, let's
learn from it, make you know, correct our mistakes, all

(21:27):
that stuff that, uh, you know, feel good about it
and enjoy it a little longer saver it. But Monday morning,
you know, it's got to be all eyes on Wisconsin.
And maybe it's a blessing that we're playing another team
is as tough as Ohio State is and Wash now
we got another team that maybe even better, so uh,
not much time to fool around. I mean we we
had to get our eyes right on them, and the
coaches had to do it on Sunday. Um. And the

(21:49):
reality is this is a really good football team that
we're playing. And the only only thing I feel a
little bit better about is, uh, you know, we're we're
we are a young team to your point, but I
think we're a lot more mature than we were eight
weeks ago. I think, um, I think the guys realized
what it took to to, you know, muster that kind
of effort last week. And the reality is we're got
to do the same exact thing, if not more this

(22:09):
week because we're we're on their turf. Uh. They're they're
a team that is just you know, they don't give
up anything easily. They're just really tough and competitive. They
have been forever, and um, you know, it's just just
it's it's gonna be a sixty Metta game. I can't
imagine being anything but that. And so, you know, it's
a great challenge, but it's it's also uh you know,
it's part of the fun of this whole thing. And uh,
you know, we know each other pretty well. Being in

(22:30):
the conference where border border rivals, we have such great
respect for them and and I've had respect for them
since I got back here. Nineteen years ago. Barry Alvarez
is really the guy that got that program up on
its feet again. And Barry and I worked together for
seven years. He he was actually the first guy I
met when I interviewed here in one and we grew
up about fifteen miles from each other, so he's kind

(22:52):
of the architect. But you know, Paul Chris has just
done a wonderful job, as have the other coaches have
been there, and it's gonna be a big challenge. So
we're you know, we're trying. You're ready for it. It
feels like they're kind of traditional Big ten football, right,
I mean Jonathan Taylor seven point two yards of carry,
line up, some play action, and you know whereas the
numbers and compaens like the Big twelve are video game

(23:13):
numbers because they spend you out and throw it so
much and the games are longer. This is this is
you could you could say this is a game is
play five eighty five or two thousand seventeen. Doesn't it
just come down to stopping the run, not turning the
football over and then special teams to win a game
like this? You know that formula still works, And uh

(23:34):
I just talked about Buryer. I know, that's one thing
very understood totally when he went there in Uh, you know,
there's a certain formul that does work. And you look
at him right now. They run the ball extremely well,
they stopped the run very well. They're they're up at
the top, you know, not only in our league but
in the country. And rush defense, they don't turn it over.
They're very very smart that way. They just you know,

(23:55):
they played good football and uh but yeah, the bedrocket
of the whole thing is defense. They they played great defense,
and there's still a couple of teams in the country
that do that. And they're certainly right there at the
top they have been over the years. They just play
really staunch defense. They grind the clock and and then uh,
you know, they'll they'll pop the big play in there.
And and that's kind of been the story of our
series with them. They've um, you know, whether it's a

(24:17):
big pass, a big run by one of their great tailbacks.
You know, they just keep coming at you and pretty
soon you know something pops loose and that that's usually
a big, big play in the game. Now your team
is not bad defensively either. Sixteenth nationally and scoring defense
worth in the Big Ten. Coach listen, congrats on the win.
We continue to appreciate you joining us. Best of luck
and safe travels on your way to and from Madison.

(24:38):
Thanks for joining us on Fox Sports Radio. Thanks for
having me on. Good to talk to you. Pleasures always
My Kirk Ferent's head coach at Iowa Stay, Iowa, Stay Iowa.
I was funny. I was looking at their schedule. I
was forever gotten killed because their schedule at times is
deemed weak. But remember they have to play Iowa stayed
every year And who would have thought. I know, I
was State loss this past weekend, but who would have
thought that I was stayed with the Sye Hawk game?

(24:59):
Is uh? Is a war? Every year? I was good,
I was bad, I was Dates good, I was States bad.
Doesn't matter, That's always a war. But who would have
thought like up until the win this past weekend against
Ohio State, their signature win of the year against a
ranked team was actually Iowa State. Let's bring in Dan

(25:21):
buy or find out. Oh I'm sorry, Let's bring in
Steve to Segre, find out what else is going on
in the world sports. Steve what he got for me? Well,
we do have an NFL game tonight Seattle at Arizona.
Adrian Peterson of the Cardinals last game at thirty seven
carries for a hundred fifty nine yards and a win
at San Francisco PM Eastern time. The game tonight. Seattle

(25:43):
Dolphense defensive tackle and Donma Kong Sue miss practice today
with a knee injury, and Miami running back Damian Williams
was out today due to illness. Defensive Back t J
McDonald returned to the Dolphins after an eight game league suspension.
He could start Monday night at Carolina. The Colts released
defensive back von Day Davis. You'll have season ending groin surgery.
Davis contract was up after this season. Cowboys wide receiver

(26:06):
Dez Bryant did not practice today, at least not in
the part open to reporters, due to his knee injury.
The NFL still expects the five year contract extension for
Commissioner Roger Goodell to be done soon. Our owners already
voted yes on a committee going forward with a last May.
There are three college football games tonight, including one in
eight North Carolina at pitt Tar Heels only win this

(26:26):
year was against Old Dominion tomorrow night on FS one
number nine, Washington at Stanford this evening. Five NBA games,
including the Lake contest, Oklahoma City four and six playing
at Denver. Back to you, the folks in Oklahoma City
are freaking They're freaking out. Yeah, I thought we had
that championship roster all of a sudden, You're right, they are.
They are freaking out over the fact that they are

(26:49):
not moving the basketball. So um, anyway, let's um, let's
discuss NBA a little bit now. Um, we'll talk about
the thunder. And watched the night's game. Watched last night's
Celtics Lakers game, and I came away thinking a lot
of different things about both teams. But I read this

(27:09):
story when I was driving home yesterday. I gotta I
got a pretty healthy drive home, and so I was
kind of checking out stories and I saw this from
Josh Sitting just sitting an offensive lineman for the Chicago Bears,
and he had this to say ahead of the Bears
Packers game on Sunday, and he said, we started to

(27:29):
break the huddle. He was talking about Mitch Drabinsky their
rookie quarterback. We started to break the huddle, and he said,
get the f back in the huddle and don't break
the huddle until I break it. Sitting told reporters and relayed.
As were laid by Ryan Wood of the Green Bay
Press Gazette, he kind of cussed us all out, cussed
all of us lineman out, and I was like, hell, yeah,

(27:50):
I respect the s out of that. Like, what does
this have to do with the NBA um look college professional,
high level sports? When when we say it's not for
the faint of heart, there's lots of things that are

(28:11):
discussed that aren't discussed outside of locker rooms, outside of
huddles or whatever. And it's just that there's a different
sort of language, different sort of vibe. But the one
thing that that I think you can relate to is
in your work, in my work, but especially in sports,
you gotta have kind of an alpha mentality to be

(28:36):
a dude, right, just to be a dude, being a
soft spoken, kind gentleman will work in your favor in
real life, especially if you're a star athlete or star
musician or whatever. But when you're trying to be the
leader of eleven men, or fifty three men and a roster,

(28:56):
or even thirteen fifteen men on an NBA roster. There's
a certain kind of leadership. Hey, shut the blank up,
listen to me. I know what we're supposed to do.
You're doing it my way, even when you're just a rookie.
I give an example, a personal example, whereas I felt
like my authority was being challenged as a freshman Notre Dame,

(29:21):
there's a guy named Chris Tower, I believe his name was,
and he was a backup center in the NBA and
uh a Notre Dame alum, and he would he came
back and he played pickup basketball with us getting ready
to be in an on an NBA team, and he
wouldn't let me get on the court because I didn't
have any credit hours. Right. It was just like the
vets are gonna play in the room and the freshman

(29:41):
are gonna sit until we decide they can play, which
I'm sure was probably how he was treated when he
was a freshman music. How would you handle that? Dudes, Like,
you're a volleyball player and at cal State north Ridge
you show up and they're like hey, and you're heavily
recruited and they're like, freshman, freshman, ain't playing in this deal.

(30:02):
I would sort of challenge him and say, why not.
I think I have every right to try and prove
myself and show that I belong on this team or
court or whatever however you want to apply the proper terminology. Yeah,
So what I did was I went and stood the
game was over. I went and stood at one half
court with the basketball shooting like, hey, I'm in. Yeah,

(30:23):
I'm in. Find out who the other four guys are.
And I wouldn't get off, and he, you know, he
came got chest to chest with me or whatever, and
I was like, what are You're gonna beat me up
because I'm playing him in a pick up game? Like, okay,
I'm here to be on the team. I'm not going anywhere.
You might as well just let me play and I'll
show you what's up right when it worked, Trabisky, his
form of leadership was, Hey, everybody, shut the blank up.

(30:46):
You break the huddle. When I say you break the huddle,
this is my huddle. It's commanding respect, but it's also
it's one of those things to which we all act
like we don't know the right thing to do. We
all know the right thing to do. But football players,
basketball players, it's just like people that work under you,
they're all I use this reference a lot. I love
that Jurassic Park deal with the raptors. I'm the guy

(31:09):
who's watching the raptors in Jurassic Park. One of the
guys who died, right, he's wearing the he's wearing the
outfit with the all khakis. You know, he's like gunned
up and he's got a big gun or whatever, and
he's talking about how they always test the fences. They
never test the same part of the fence like they're smart,
that cunning. They test defense. They always test the difference

(31:30):
s part. But that's how football players are. Basketball players are.
That's how guys are. They're always going to test the fences.
And you always got to have that electricity up. Now,
you don't want to zap them so that it's de
fries their brains. But a little bit of zapp they're like, Okay,
I got it, don't touch the fence today. I understand.

(31:55):
It's the same thing in football when you're in the huddle.
And when I watched Lonzo play a lot night, I
watched Brandon Ingram play last night. Look, I think you're
gonna make Lonzo Ball into a better finisher. He couldn't
be a worse shooter. His body's gonna improve. Brandon Ingram's
got some stuff, man, Like, Look, he's not the everybody
wanted him to be, like Kevin Durant. Look at Kevin

(32:15):
Durant's rebounding numbers when he was in college. Look at
brandon Ingram's. They're just different. He's a lot softer than
Durant was, even though his bodies built like Durant, and
I don't think he's nearly as skilled as Durant was
when he came to the league. But like, look, he'll
get bigger, he'll get stronger, he'll get better. But you
know what, you don't develop You don't develop a leadership mentality.
You can't make somebody who's not a verbal get behind me.

(32:38):
Shut the blank up. You break the huddle when I
break the huddle, leader, I can't do that. So so
the thing about the Lakers is they're going to add
two big salaries in this offseason, but what they really
need to add doesn't have as much to do with
the talent of the person they add as they do
to the leadership and the toughness and the kind of

(32:58):
alpha mentality the guy they have like. I love the
Trabisky quote makes me want to watch him play even more.
That's the kind of stuff that doesn't get out often
enough that guys either have or guys that don't have.
And I watched I watched Lonzo ball play last night.

(33:19):
I don't think I'm not as concerned about the other
stuff as much as I'm realistic about. Some stuff can improve,
but some stuff this is just who you are. Guess
who thinks they still have a chance to make the
playoffs in the NFL. I will tell you up coming next.

(33:47):

(34:10):
conditions apply. Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Let's quickly
take it to Steve the singer, and we got late
breaking news in the National Football edge breaking news from
Fox Sports. It's a never ending story, guys, But e
Sekiel Elliott's emergency motion was denied today. The suspension is
back on a three judge panel from the U. S.

(34:31):
Court of Appeals for Second Circuit to quickly today denied
the Elliott motion for an injunction. He was trying to
block the suspension, but it's on again, and he will
not play Sunday against the Falcons. It's not completely over
this whole process, because there's an appellate court to hear
his case on an expedited basis, but he is suspended
right now and until then, all right, So he's not

(34:53):
gonna play this Sunday. And it does get to the
point to which you like, dude, why don't you just
sit these next six games and you'll be back for
the December game against the Seattle Seahawks. You guys will
make the playoffs. You'll be okay. And I and I understand,
like he's like, look, this is a this is a
personal thing. I didn't do it. I ain't sitting for
for for doing for being accused us of doing something

(35:14):
I didn't do well, that would be the reason to
fight it, right, correct, correct? Um, But I mean, like
you know, I don't know he's if if do you
believe as most people do, that eventually he's getting the
six full games. Therefore he may as well take his medicine.
Now I do, uh take his I don't. I don't know,

(35:36):
Like I would keep fighting if I was him, I understand,
especially something like this, especially like with the Tom Brady
deflated football, like I didn't do it, but I'd take
a game or whatever. Brady wasn't want to negotiate. I mean,
I do think that he looks at Brady and says
Brady never negotiated. Brady can always say I didn't do it,

(35:56):
and we never know if he did it. As opposed,
if you take the suspension, you go find mine. I
don't know, I don't know. Let's up, Let's let's get
to a game. This is game time side on the
Doug Gottlieb Show. By the way, the Zeke Elliott suspension
is the NFL version of Ross and Rachel rights and

(36:20):
on again, off again. On the end of the day,
they're gonna end up, as you point out together, Uh,
this goes back to August when he was originally suspended
for six games. Heard when he was suspended? What he got, Steve?
What game do we have right on the boards? Guess who?
I will give you some stories and you've got too.
For example, Question one, guess who professional vetters have put

(36:43):
the most money on to win the national championship in
men's valige back college basketball this season? Now number one,
Duke enters as the consensus favorite. How about most money
placed on this team? Is it Duke or someone else?
Michigan State? It is Michigan, the Spartans. They have the
most bets on them at Westgate. Now the Blue Devils

(37:04):
their three to one favorite. Spartan six to one, Kentucky
six to one to win at all, Arizona eight to one.
But the Spartans apparently opened at twenty to one, and
I've been down. I mean the likelihood of Kentucky that
has basically an entirely new team and injuries to two
of their incoming freshman it's those odds are completely that.
Those are bad, bad odds. Um. Michigan State has just

(37:26):
about everybody back solid incoming the Kreem class. They're too deep,
and they they took a beating from a vicious schedule
last year. Like I really like Michigan State uh, in
comparison to Kentucky age experience as well as talent and
coaching wins. I think Duke Michigan State far better favorites
than a Kentucky. The college basketball season opens tomorrow, including

(37:48):
that U c L a game in China, including a
game in Germany at an air base as well. Number two,
Guess who will be using the skycam angle as their
primary shot for a football telecast? Hint, it's coming up
NFL Week eleven. Uh, NBC. It is on a Thursday
night game. It was NBC remember during the Patriots fog

(38:11):
game recently that had to use the overhead angle. Apparently
they've got great reviews on it. They've tinkered with the
normal broadcast approach, and they say for Titans at Steelers November,
the primary view will be from the skycam. I just
point out I actually suggested this to my old bosses
that my my buddy Steve Carros at CBS a long

(38:32):
time ago. I was like, dude, you should have that.
He they have some they have quarterbacks to do games.
They have Adam rch let Up, former defensive back like
do it from those different angles, so you see what
they used to see. Plus, by the way, that's how
we play Madden, right, We're used to that angle because
that's how we play Man and we don't play Madden
in the fifty yard line kids, So they stumble on

(38:55):
the angle and it's gonna be the primary Thursday night anger,
barring fog. I guess it's going to be in the
primary view for us coming up in what not too
long about a week away? Number three, guess who in
the NFL thinks they still have a chance at the playoffs.
In fact, this coach told his team, I believe we
have a run in us. Amazingly, I'm not gonna go

(39:18):
with you, Jackson, I'm not gonna go with the I'm
not going with the Giants, uh, Anthony Lynn. It is
a second year coach and it is from the Giants.
Some of his comments. I believe to the corps we
have a run of us. We have to be hungry,
we have to get our football right. We have to

(39:39):
be disciplined, be what we're supposed to be when we're
supposed to be there, do it as well as we
possibly can. Your thoughts on coach Ben McAdoo. Um, I
think he's a really good coordinator. Enough said no, I
just think it. Yeah, it's oh easy and over tad,
And let's get the number four. Also, NFL. Guess who

(39:59):
is only thirty two yards shy of a thousand career
rushing yards in his NFL career? A quarterback? Uh, Kim Newton.
Now it is Tom Brady. He's played so long, he's
at nine hundred sixty eight rushing yards. Believe it or not.
He could cross the thousand yard barrier, of course in

(40:21):
his eighteen season, but he could say he's a thousand
yard rushing right. I mean part of this is he
get him he gets sacked, you lose yards rushing. Now
that's not a college rule. They take it off then
I did not know that, did not know they too
got pasting than in the NFL. Um. I don't think
he'll ever get past the thousand yards. I don't think
when he runs, he runs like he's dragging a dead body. Yes,

(40:42):
he does so thirty two yards like for the rest
of the season. He don't see it happening. And finally,
number five, guests, who will Ferrell thanks should run for
President of the United States? And Lebron James. Yes, he said.
He went over the Lebron once. I just have to
say hello, how are you? He said. I was telling
my wife the other day, you need to run for president.

(41:03):
You're from the Midwest, You're very famous, very popular, very articulate.
Please run for office. End quote. Yeah, yeah, yeah, no,
I mean I love Lebron. Not thirty five years old yet, which, again,
like will fare out, he would be thirty five at
the time of the next presidential election. I believe, so

(41:23):
he technically could be president. But you know, I'm gonna
go now, this is game time on the Duck Gottlieb Show.
I do think there's going to be more candidates that
are not traditional candidates, right, whether it's Michelle Obama's never

(41:45):
held office, or Mark cuban Um obviously mayor bloom for
Mayor Bloomberg of New York. I guess not like traditional
like businessman candidates. I do think that's one of the
things that Trump opens the door for. I just I
don't think it's I don't think will be. It'll be
Lebron James, C J. McCullum. The Trailblazers joined us next.
I'll ask him what's too many threes in the NBA. Well,

(42:12):
it's back on again. Running back Ezekiel Elliott of Dallas
will not play this weekend for the Cowboys. His suspension
back on after a US Court of Appeals today quickly
denied Elliott's motion for an injunction he was trying to
block the suspension. The whole process is not completely over,
you see. There's an appellate court that Steele will hear
his case on an expedited basis. But until then, Elliott

(42:34):
remains suspended and he will not play Sunday against the Falcons.
Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant did not practice today, at
least not in the part open to reporters, due to
his bad knee tackle. Tyron Smith of Dallas miss practice
again with a groin injury. Bucks quarterback Jamis Winston was
reportedly fined about twelve thousand dollars for starting a sideline
fight against New Orleans last weekend. Wide receiver Mike Evans

(42:56):
was suspended one game after that. In the NFL. Tonight,
it is Seattle at Arizona. I'm Steve de seg What up?
Tug godlip Show? Fox Sports Radio. You know it's weird
because there's a there's a Thursday night football game, which
I couldn't possibly care any less about, and third and

(43:20):
and NFL football. In many ways, it's becoming a little bit,
just a little bit like NBA basketball was always seen
as a regular season, just a lot of games. On
the other hand, like the regular season basketball games I'm
super into right Like last night, there was a huge
slate of games. Pistons stopped the Pacers. How about the
Pistons at eight and three? Uh, the Magic beat the Knicks.

(43:42):
Course KP. Kristaps Prezingis didn't play, but the Magic. We
had Frank Vogel on If you download our podcast, you
can listen to that Frank Vogel interview. Um, the Warriors
dominated the Timberwolves on one on one. If you went
to went to sleep on the East Coast when it
was a close this game at the half, the one
point game at the half, the Warriors scored forty four

(44:03):
points in the third quarter. I mean, it's just they're stupid.
It's it's just stupid to watch him sometimes, just stupid
to watch him. But there's so much talent the NBA.
It's crazy, and they're shooting so many threes has become
a jump shooters league and a team that men when

(44:24):
they make shots, especially with their backcourt, really really hard
to defend. The Portland Trailblazers six and five on this
young season, there two stars Damian Lillard c J McCollum.
C J McCollum joins us on the Doug Gottlin Show
here on Fox Sports Radio. CJ. When you're like, the
schedule's difference more spread out this year, when you have

(44:45):
a night off Bustman's holiday, you watching the league on TV?
Are you? Are you completely removing yourself from the game.
A lot of times I watch it, especially if it's
a Marquee game. Um, like last night, I think, uh
Kyrie Boston was playing the Lakers. I'm like, I like
to watch certain players play certain guards and certain teams
in Bauston's one of them. So watch most of that

(45:07):
game last night, And then tonight I watched a little
bit of Netflix try to catch up one Stranger Things
season two and watch Houston and the cast Who was it? Ryan?
Who wasn't what we had on? Who just said he's
watched Stranger Things season two and he's wondered Brom Melvin
Gordon of the of the Chargers actually just said I
told I told him like I have kids, and so

(45:28):
the idea of abducted children freaked me out the first
couple of episodes, but I clearly have to get through.
Let me ask you about what you saw last night.
Everybody's everybody at least in l A and some people
nationally freaking out about Alonzo Ball and maybe to a
lesser extent, about brandon Ingram. Now, Zoe only spent one
year in college. You spent four years in college. But
people now, because of your success the last three years,

(45:51):
people forget that you weren't getting a lot of time
early on your you know, your first year, you you
only played half the games you played, you know, twelve
minutes of game. You ever's like five points a game.
Second year, like seven points a game. So, um, when
you see him, how fixable are some of the things, Like,
you look, his jump shot does not look like yours.
But the other things, uh, the strength of finishing around

(46:13):
the hoop, learning how to be an NBA guard. How
fixable is that stuff? I think it's very flexible. I
think it's premature to judge guys based on, you know,
ten games into the rookie year, especially with their nineteen
years old. Um, they have a chance to kind of
to kind of learn and develop and understand the game
a little bit better. They have a chance to kind
of growing to their bodies, and people without to realize

(46:34):
is that, um, this is this is their first time
playing at the highest level, although they played in college
and has success. Now you talked about girln Man going
against premial All Stars and playing arguably the hardest position
in the NBA, which is the point guard the league
our position, So you're going up against the elite of
the elite every night. There's no there's no nights off,
So it's a bit of an adjustment period obviously playing
the l A and then they're a little bit more

(46:54):
scrutiny and in being in a position where his his
father has been heavily involved with the media. He's he's
more scrutinized than any player in his draft. So I
think it's just about giving him some time to develop
and understanding that the way he plays, you know, he's
the past first guy, keeps the teammates involved. He's not
really a scoring guard anyway, so I can't really pay
attention to to the to the PPG. It's more about

(47:17):
the assistants impact on the court and and how his
how his team is doing while he's on the floor.
Obviously he's got to make layups and make free throws,
and that's what you need from your point guard. But
I think I think he'll be all right. It's it's
really early in his career. Um, do you remember the
moment to which you're like, I mean, look, I don't
think your confidence ever, very ever wavered. But was there

(47:37):
a moment? You know, three years ago, you guys lost
LaMarcus Aldrich and not a lot of people thought a
lot of your team. You guys obviously had that super
surprising season and you blew up an average twenty one
points a game. Do you remember the game to which
people or you were starting to go like, Oh, yeah,
this is this dog a hunt. I'm gonna I'm a
starting guard in this league for a long time. Was
there a moment? I think it was my my second

(48:00):
year in the league. Um, I always know I to
play at the at the highest level of the elite,
but I was just a product of you know, injuries,
being on a good team, being drafted by a lottery team,
that turned up to end up winning fifty three games
my rookie years. So it was a unique situation where
I wasn't just give to thirty five minutes that I
had to kind of learned and grow and played behind
the players. And my second year, I think Wesley Matthews

(48:21):
towards Achilles and then we brought the air in a
follow at the All Star break and he ended up
getting hurt as well, so they had no choice but
to play me. And I think after after you know,
a year and a half of twotlage and kind of
working out every day, I was ready and in the
in the playoffs again, maybe it's Creels. I think I
had two points the first game, six points the second game,
and then I had thirty something and that's when I

(48:41):
kind of blew up and it was going against Tony
Allen had the head, but Tony Island one of the
best defenders to ever play this game. So that's when
I kind of knew like I can play at this
levels just about consistently get him in and to continue
to get better. Um, I know you want to be
in the media when you're done. What do you want
to do? That's a great question. I I dabbed with
the with the radio right now with the I Heart Radio,

(49:03):
and I do some rip City A and stuff in
the mornings, and then I do a hip hop station
at night. Well, I just want to be involved in
journalism in general, whether that be writing, commentating, hosting a show.
I'm not sure exactly what route I want to take,
so I'm just trying to understand my portfolio as much
as possible, build the resume up, and leave myself with
plenty of options when I be retired. All right, So
when you come down in l A, if you want

(49:23):
to co host, like you're you're more than welcome. Oh
for sure, I'll take your hard. I know, we don't
spend a lot of time there during the season, so
it might have to be in the summertime. Might have
to be the summertime, you know, and and listen, I mean,
uh could be during playoff time if you guys, don't
you know, you guys run into a tough spot early.
Um hey, I want to ask you about the shoes. Right,

(49:43):
So you're a leaning guy, right, you switch over from
from Nike, which, for people who don't don't understand, that's
not just a big move to make to take on
a Chinese shoe brand. But you're also in Portland, which
is home to not just Nike, but also to Adidas.
So to do that in the home of these shoe companies, Um,
what are the shoes actually like? Like, Like, I don't know,

(50:04):
you see them on NBA players, but you don't see
them in stores. What do they actually like? Yeah? I
like them. I've gotten I've found some shoes that I'm
very comfortable with. I think the biggest thing is figuring
out what works for you. And as an athlete, a
lot of us playing orthotics, so I have custom athotics
that are removable, so I may go to take them
out and put them into various shoes and find that comfort.

(50:25):
But once I made the switch, I had to get
my foot remoted to just make sure there wasn't any
drastic changes over the last five years, and then go
through a bunch of different shoes, putting the orthotics in
and working on having them, building an actual shoe with
the orthotic already molded inside of it to kind of
give me that comfort and stability. But I'm looking forward
to the opportunity to represent a new brand, and I
think that we're going forward, We're gonna do some great

(50:46):
things and at some point they'll get some shoes in
some store so people can see exactly what they're like.
I mean, I don't don't you want to? I mean,
that's and look, and I don't know if you stayed
with Nike, if you'd be able to get your own
signature shoe, you know, Like I know NBA guys technically
have her own. Everybody has their own shoes. It's really cool.
But yeah, I don't know if you'd walk into foot
action and and see your shoes sitting there. On the
other hand, like with with with leaning, like that's that's

(51:09):
actually a possibility obviously, especially if you go to go
to China and so they ask you like, uh, Damian
Lillard seems to have at least some input into how
his shoe looks. Do you get input into what yours
looks like? Yeah? I think in the future, I definitely will. Um.
As of right now, we're just going through different models
and kind of going through that city of breaking down

(51:30):
shoes in Tinna figure out what's the best for me.
But I think that's one of the reasons why leaning
was the right decision for me. It gives me a
gives me an opportunity to have input in the brand,
gives me an opportunity to be one of the faces
of a brand that not only is global, but a
main fixture in Asia, and Asia is about four times
decide of the United States. So I think that I
think that the options are going to be limited. No,

(51:52):
no question. Now we we talked about the China thing.
Why why all these UH sports leaders go and play
in China's like, there's a billion people with a BA
in China. You get one percent of that population to
be fans. And think of the numbers of Jersey sold,
of shoes sold. CJ McCullum joining us on the Doug
Gottlip Show. I don't know if you've you've seen this
league average is an all time high with three pointers attempted,

(52:14):
It's like thirty thirty. What is what's the number to
which you're like, all right, that's too many three I
saw a game with Houston shot fifty four one night
last week, Like, what's the what's the magic number of
threes per game? That's a great question. I don't know
what the magic number is, first thing, but I think
that you know, a lot of people are becoming more

(52:35):
capable of shooting threes, big scores and fives being able
to shoot threes, and you have you know, offenses designed
to space the floor now that where there's more spacing
and more opportunities to threes. But I think fifty four
is o d that's a lot. That's a lot of
three pointers to shoot in one game. But Houston is
one of one of those teams that believes in three
and the key and they do with the unconventional way

(52:56):
and they're very effective with it because of the person
now and the amount of players they have on a
team that are capable of shooting three. Dude, you got
I know you missed that jumper the other night and
you you had it rolling right, you had twenty six shots. Um,
but we've seen you know, we we I saw Dame.
Was it was that the Lakers? That Yeah, the Lakers
that Dame hit that three pointer light with and he

(53:20):
he makes it. Of course he had missed it the
night before against Utah two nights ago. You missed one
with three point seven seconds to go. Uh, what's that feeling?
Like a ball in your hand? Chance to win a
game and it doesn't go in as much as we
always like we always think of Hollywood ending. It goes
in what goes through your mind in an NBA game
when you don't make it. I think you just kind

(53:40):
of re evaluate the play, think about what you could
have done better, and then in my case, I got
to my sweet spot left elbow step back, raised up,
had a clean look and just end up missing it.
So you just kind of think about, you know, how
you missed it while you missed it, and watching watching
to feel I'm re evaluating it, is this something I
could have done better? But you know, as an athlete,
the great thing about sports is that you always have

(54:00):
another game for the most part, usually gas within twenty
four hours. So having to go home and digest it
and watch it, figure out how I can get better
for the next game and prepare for the next opportunity
is it is uh great? The great pleasure of being
a game player. You've gotta be able to overcome obstacles
and in order to enjoy the sunshine, you gotta be
able to get through the ring, no question. Plus I mean, like,
let's let's be honest, the team wouldn't have been that

(54:21):
close enough for you. You You hit a three with like
thirteen seconds to go just to bring you within one.
By the way, you know, you just gave away your
scouting report right like, we don't even need to go
to Synergy now we know sweet spot, end of game,
step back, pull up, going left like this. You just
gave it away. You just gave away your go to
as as the great win say, everyone knows everyone's moves,
but you can't stop. So yeah, it's like that old

(54:42):
Larry Bird video. I'm gonna catch it right here and
I'll make it. And you didn't mean to leave a
second on the clock. Hey listen, c J. Great catching
up with you. I wish we would have caught up
with you after you made the game winner, but we
know you got added opportunities, including upcoming in a couple
of days. Appreciate you being our guest on Fox Sports Radio.
Little problem, thanks for having all Right, that's c J McCullum.

(55:02):
Good dude, great shooter. And you want to talk about
a career to which first couple of years not getting
a lot of run, third year in game, fourth year
in twenty three game, this year three game, just drop
twenty six and loss to the Memphis Grizzlies. Did miss
that game winner at the end. Uh. There's a trend
in college football if you haven't noticed it. One of
the strongest conferences in the country has a problem on

(55:24):
its hands. And man, do they deal with the problem
in that league differently than they deal with problems elsewhere?
Or maybe they maybe it's the same. I gotta talk
about this. I'll talk about the SEC YEP coming. But

Sports Radio. Can't fire the players, right, there's an old

(57:15):
abe lemons expression. You guys know who ab lemons. You
guys have no idea who. There's just no chance. A
Levin's legendary old time college basketball coach, University of Texas,
Oklahoma City University. Anyway, he was a He was a
quip artist before quip artists were cool. Um, he said,
doctors bury, there's doctors bury their mistakes. We got ours

(57:37):
on scholarship. Right, that's that's that's that's that's what what
he said. It's pretty funny. M You know, the SEC
went what seven straight years winning a national championship and
because of that, because because of that, the stakes were raised.
When you win in college football, everybody wins. If you've

(57:58):
been to the University of Obama's campus, yeah, the facilities
for the football team we have scene, but all of
the sorority houses, Attorney House have been redone. The campus
is just sparkling. It's beautiful. A matter of fact, I
just went back to my own alma mater, Ocal Mistake,
and that campus is obscene, how nice it is, how

(58:19):
new it is, how refreshed it is, especially in parison
to twenty years ago UM when everything seemed run down.
Everything seemed run down, And there's a direct correlation. You
can go and look now look ivy leagues of course
to have the biggest endowment. So I'm not saying that
sports is the only way to rebuild your campus, to

(58:42):
rebrand and rebuild your image, but it really helps turbo
charge supercharge because the real money made off collegian sports
is not made from the TV deals or the radio deals.
Million dollars a year. That's not especially with the expenses
that you have to pay for all collegiate sports. It's
just not. But when you are successful now donors have

(59:06):
no problem donating to get boxes or just donating money
for research, research centers or for new amphitheaters or whatever,
new buildings. It's a promotional tour for the for the university.
You get more in greater numbers of UM people who apply.

(59:28):
Higher enrollment, More enrollment is more money. More enrollment is
more graduates. More graduates is more donations, more donations. That's
where the money is. When in college football all these
things happen. And then look at the SEC, which was
once upon a time the most dominant college football conference

(59:49):
in the land as late as two years ago. Maybe
Alabama is still awesome, Georgia's back. South Carolina is not
as bad as people thought they would be. But Vandy
sits at owen five in league and they're not gonna
change coaches. But Tennessee will Florida's gonna Arkansas is probably

(01:00:13):
going to ole Ms has an interim head coach. Everybody
thinks Texas and m is gonna make a change. I mean,
you're looking at half of the league. So there's a
couple of things to it. Um A lot of people
ask why coaches have these healthy buyouts, and the big
reason is because of overreactions and over corrections by A.

(01:00:37):
D S boosters, presidents, et cetera. You have a bad year.
On the other hand, the other hand, like, look, this
is big boy football. You don't win like Brett Bielema
hasn't once it's coming in from Wisconsin. You don't win,
You don't ingratiate yourself to the home folks. They get

(01:00:57):
rid of you, like there is about to be mad
sieve turnover in this league, mass turnover in this league.
And because of the money that this league has made,
the money that the league can generate, by my estimation,
it's gonna completely change the salary structures for everybody. Is

(01:01:21):
it trickled down? I said this When Tubby Smith left
Kentucky and he went to Minnesota, it opened up Kentucky. Remember,
everybody was rumored to be in the hunt for the
Kentucky job. John Calipari got it. It's been the absolute
perfect higher. You don't have to like John Calipari to
respect the fact that that was the perfect higher at
the time. He's done the perfect job for that school.

(01:01:42):
That's what they want to be competitive in recruiting every year.
They want to be competitive for an SEC in National
Championship every year. And if they fall to on the
side of having too many big name, talented players and
occasionally coming up short in the n C determinaned fine,
as long as they keep winning the recruiting ballots like
he's the perfect fit. They love the attention and he

(01:02:03):
loves receiving it. But at the time it also got
ten fift twenty other coaches paid. That's what will happen
with these SEC jobs. Arkansas, Ole, miss A and M, Tennessee, Uh, Florida,

(01:02:24):
maybe Missouri, oh knows, maybe Missouri. It's it's going to
make everybody everyone, probably not Missouri, everyone around the country.
Scott Frost. Scott Frost is gonna have Florida, to Tennessee
and probably Nebraska to choose from. Justin Flente is at
Virginia Tech. He's gonna have to turn down one or

(01:02:45):
two of these jobs. A and M and maybe A Tennessee.
So it's bunkers. But part of it is the success
of the past decade of the SEC, the success that
those schools have seen financially because of the league's success.
How are they able to raise money? Raise enrollment has

(01:03:06):
raised expectations, and when you raise those expectations, this is
what happens. What happens, all right? This weekend is really
more about college than pro football. Louenda right, um Myla
Monta travels to Iowa State, which is the house of

(01:03:29):
horrors at times in the past, but now against a
well respected Iowa State team still ranked twenty one in
the country after losing last week to West Virginia, Washington
Stanfords on Friday, Michigan State, Ohio State, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Arkansas,
l s U. That's always a It's a rivalry game,
a good one, oldest rivalry in South Georgia Auburn. That's

(01:03:49):
UH on CBS at noon, Pacific Coast time. Wazoo traveling
in Utah, Alabama goes to Mississippi State, Notre Dame, Miami Teasu,
Oklahoma Man. There's some good games programs, not so much
like the big Pro game. This week was supposed to
be Cowboys Falcons and now no Zeke Elliott. Spaking of

(01:04:11):
no Zeke Elliott, Let's get you to UH. Steve de
Seger for an update. Yeah, we do have that Zeke
story we mentioned earlier. The suspension of the Dallas running
back on again. His temporary stay was terminated. He is
suspended after today. He will miss this Sunday's game in Atlanta,
the first he's missed this year. Today, a three judge
panel denied Elliott's motion for injunction. He was trying to

(01:04:31):
block the six game suspension. There is an appellate court
that's still going to hear his case, so it's not
totally over. Bengals wide receiver A J. Green says he
will not appeal his fine for fighting Jacksonville defensive back
Jalen Ramsey last week at two dollar fine. Jets running
back Matt Forte miss practice again today with a knee injury.
Dallas wide receiver Dez Bryant did not practice today due

(01:04:53):
to a knee injury, but plans to practice tomorrow. And
Dallas offensive tackle Tyrone Smith did miss practice again with
a groin injury. Today. The Eagles gave defensive tackle Tim
Journagain a four year extension. We're twenty six million dollars guaranteed.
The Patriots claimed tight end Martellis Bennett Off Waivers. There's
an NFL game tonight with Seattle at Arizona. Seahawks lost

(01:05:13):
a close one to Washington last Sunday as Blair Walsh
was over three on field goal attempts in the first
half and Seattle had sixteen penalties in that game. The
NFL still expects the five year contract extension for Commissioner
Roger Goodell to be done soon. Owners already voted yes
on the process in May. The researcher says the late
New England tight end Aaron Hernandez had severe damage to

(01:05:34):
key parts of his brain. He killed himself in prison
this year. College football. Three games tonight Tomorrow night on
FS one. It's number nine, Washington at Stanford. College basketball
season opens tomorrow. Seven NHL games this evening. Five in
the NBA. Back to you, Thank you, Steve, appreciate the UH.
Appreciate the update. We'll take you to r J. Bell

(01:05:57):
in UH in a moment um, I give my picks out.
They've been really good. College football of late. On Friday's five?
What is it? What is the what is the name
of the device? Used? Five? Or five? Five? NFL five
College TCU Oklahoma Oklahoma six and a half point favorite
Notre Dame Miami. That's interesting. You know, I want to

(01:06:21):
focus on the NFL. I want to focus on the
games in the NFL. Cowboys, Falcons, Saints, Bills, Patriots, Broncos.
That used to be um interesting. The Broncos always used
to do well. Has always done well against the Patriots.
Patriots back when the Cults were good, would always dominate
the Colts, Vikings, Redskins, Texans Ring. You know who the

(01:06:41):
best guy to turn to? R J Belfan pregame dot com.
Wait to like give my money? Right? Are you tired
of losing money every week? Do you want to be
in the know? Well, we might not know, but Vegas
always knows out the bottles. R J Bell joins his

(01:07:04):

r J in Vegas. You can. Let's do his radio
show here on Fox Sports Radio a m b M
to midnight Pacific time on Friday nights ten pm to
midnight Pacific time on Saturday. I gets you ready for
all these Sunday games, r J. Let's up. Let's start
with that Cowboys game. Zekei Elliott as of now, is

(01:07:25):
suspended and it seems like a stretch to think that
there will be another hearing in time to get him
to be able to play against the Falcons. They're on
the road in Atlanta and Atlanta is a three point favorite.
How much does this change the line, knows Zeke Elliott. Well,
the line was drifting down right, So Atlanta opened up
favored by three. Typical home field is three. So they

(01:07:47):
were pretty much saying these were even teams. I think
a lot of people would disagree they thought Dallas is
bad or clearly. But remember Atlanta is a favorite of
the wise guys because of their neat yards per This
is pretty amazing. Number one in the NFL. Atlanta is
net yards per play plus one point one yard. Last

(01:08:08):
year they went to the Super Bowl, Atlanta was plus
one point one yards. So in theory, this team is
playing almost identically to last year except turnovers, except red
zone problems, etcetera. But the wise guys really believe in
the long run the stats tell you more than the scoreboard,

(01:08:29):
and if the stats and the scoreboard disagree, they tend
to believe that the score boards gonna move towards the stats.
That's why there's been a lot of continued optimism about Atlanta. Lastly,
let's talk about Zeke. He's worth about a point. But
remember three is such a valuable number in the NFL
because so many games and three. I don't think this
baby goes to three and a half. I think it

(01:08:51):
just moves up to three with some extra juice if
if Zeke is out. R J Bella joining us on
the Doug Gallip Show. The resurgent New Orleans Saints are
favorites on the road in Buffalo. Uh don't you usually
stay away from the Saints in cold weather? Yeah, you
know it's supposed to be the forties or so this game,
so it shouldn't be so bad. Saints typically not as uh,

(01:09:14):
you know, no team is as good on the road.
But the home road split for the Saints, I think
he's even bigger than a typical team because of the
Dome and such. Here's the thing about the Bills, not
respected by vegas Um. They don't think Taylor is even
an average quarterback. And here's the key to the Bill's
good record. Their number one in the NFL in turnovers

(01:09:38):
plus eleven is their net margin. Imagine that, Doug, You're
getting the ball eleven times. Additionally, compared to your opponents
over the course of you know, less than eleven games,
so it's a full extra possession and more every game.
And this tells you this stat how important turnovers are.

(01:09:58):
The winner of the turn over battle covers the spread
seventy seven percent of the time, no other factors considered.
If your plus want to turn over plus two, whatever
it is, seventy seven percent of the time, you exceed
expectations and cover the spread. R J Bell joining Us
is pregame dot com is the website. Of course you
go to at r J in Vegas, or just listen

(01:10:20):
to the show straight at a Vegas eleven o'clock to
midnight Pacific time on a Friday night. That's ten o'clock
to bed night Pacific time on Saturday night. Let's go
to Patriots Broncos. We've seen this one in the playoffs.
We've seen this one open an NFL season. Broncos have
all kinds of issues at quarterbacks. They can throw brock
Oswiller out there. Patriots have gotten better, although their defense
has some holes in it. Just re up Martellis Bennett.

(01:10:43):
Of course, uh was cut by the Green Bay Packers.
What are your thoughts and the paths seven and a
hook favorites in Denver. You know, there's two times not
to bet a game. One is you think the line
is right, and the other time is you don't know
what the line should be. And this, to me is one.
I don't know what the line should be if Denver

(01:11:03):
at quarterback plays as badly as they have. You know,
Simeon when he was injured or hobbled, whatever you want
to say, limited and Osweiler just last week, we expected
Vegas consensus expected that to be an upgrade with Osweiler,
and it certainly wasn't. If anything, it might have been
a little downgrade, even against an injured Simeon. So to me,

(01:11:26):
if you can't throw in the NFL, you can't win, right.
I mean, show me a team, even Jacksonville that's running
better than anybody. When they get behind, they're done because
they can't throw at least. So it seems now, why
won't I bet the Pats Because though the scoring has
improved defensively and if you look last four weeks, they

(01:11:47):
haven't given up more than seventeen points, but their stats
are still horrible on defense. And once again, I think
scoring can be a little bit of luck. We know,
a miss field goal third and one the one and
you don't get in. It's a four point swing. That
stuff can swing on a lot of luck, and I
think the Pat's defense is still a major problem. So

(01:12:08):
I'm passing passing on that was That was a lot
to say, passing the lot, but it was. It was interesting.
It was interesting insight into while you're passing on. I
know that you you're listen. You're such a high i
Q host. I usually bring it up a notch or
notch and a half when it comes to the high
level stuff. I look, I appreciate it. I just it's
also if you're on password, you know, you just go

(01:12:30):
pass and then you move on to the to the
next There we go r J. Bell joining us in
the Doug Gotlip Show. Redskins go into Seattle, get a win,
They return home and take it on the Vikings, who
have been really good with case Keenum as their quarterback
um and the Redskins are home dogs to the Vikings,
who do get Teddy Bridgewater as their backup. Sam Bradford

(01:12:52):
done for the season. Who's your lean here? I'll be
honest with you, this is a pretty much a pass too,
So do you want to dig into it. Do you
want to go in another game? I'll tell you real quick,
real quick. Minnesota great defense. It's not just keen Um
who's obviously played well great defense, but this Skins team.
I mean, they were in Collins top ten this week.
I disagree because of the injuries. But the old line

(01:13:14):
is a big question mark. So if you're looking to
bat for or against the Skins, watch the injury report
coming into Sunday. If the old line looks a little
bit healthier, look to play on them. If not, look
to play against them, because that old line has been
so beat up. So I see, now that's that's that's
interesting insight that you want to pass on. But Texans
taking on the Rams. People are jumping on the Rams

(01:13:36):
bandwagon now they just beat up on the giants who
stink and appear to have quit on Ben McAdoo. Texans
don't have an offense now that Deshaun Watson is out
with injury and they're playing on the road twelve points
in the NFL even for the rest. Like if you
could have snapshot of this line last year, people would
have laughed at you. Now people are not in their
heads like yeah, that makes a sense. Can you make

(01:13:58):
sense of this line? Yeah. I think it's a sign
of a ton of optimism on the Rams. For the Rams,
and I think it's probably a little bit much. I
lean to the Texans here. Here's the thing. Last week
was what we call for the Texans, a dream crusher,
is their dream was even leaving that Seattle loss, was
we are as good as any team in the NFL.

(01:14:19):
That was the sense within the organization with Watson Well,
without Watson Well, they're not very good. They're bad enough
to lose at home against the Colts. So that first
game after the injury, they're all emotionally feeling down, and
it makes sense a late and eight. They were even
seven point favorite in that Colts game Dog and they
still lost the game out right, even with the backup quarterback.

(01:14:41):
I think now the professionals, they've had a week to
get over it, expected good or at least a decent
high energy performance. On the other hand, with the Rams,
this is the biggest spread for any Rams team, doesn't
matter what city they've been in since two thousand two.
I'm always skeptical of a team that's entering a new
strat uh when it comes to laying a bunch of

(01:15:01):
points because they're not used to being such a clear favor,
so lean towards the Texans. Can't handle success, can't handle
all the adulation, even though the Texans don't appear to
have an offense. We'll see at the Colosseum this weekend.

(01:17:56):
You're any of these shows. So do we And what
we do is we hear something interesting, some strong takes
on the hot take, some interesting back and forth through
a green interview. We we played for you. In this case,
Skip Bayliss thinks he knows who the most underrated player
in the NFL is. I have been trying to tell
you this topic after topic, day after day, Monday after Monday,

(01:18:22):
that Dak Prescott remains the most underrated player in the
National Football League. Most people can't buy into this because
he doesn't have enough of a wow factor. He is
not made for these times in which social media dominates
that there's no signature celebration. He doesn't do this right,

(01:18:44):
and he can't throw up the X. He's just Dak Prescott.
He doesn't say or do anything controversial. He doesn't post
cartoon fist images on social media with the tag mood right,
Who who does that? I don't know now, that guy's
made for social media topic to well, I'm just showing
you the comparison. Doc is constantly flying way too far

(01:19:08):
under the radar. So he's the most underrated player in
the NFL, I would say no. Um, I would actually
say he was wildly overrated last year based upon the
actual substance of his play in comparison to the difficulty
of what he was doing, because he was surrounded by

(01:19:29):
such a an incredible litany of talent. So look, I
look at it, and I'm I don't think he's the
most underrated player, most underrated quarterback, I would. I would
lump him in there with maybe maybe Kirk Cousins as
a guy. Cousins has had some games to which I
even said he's just a guy, and then played quite

(01:19:50):
well at times against Seattle. UM Matt Stafford is somebody
who has been maligned. Now he may be overpaid, but
in terms of how he's actually rated, and Russell and
and Russell Wilson, but to me the most underrated guy
now he might not ever play again with Sam Bradford.
Bradford was the guy who signed made fifty million dollars
before he ever played it down to football. Uh. And

(01:20:13):
because he's been injured so often, people believe that being
injured is some sort of bust category. He was. He
played great, played well last year, uh, in spite of
the fact that he had no offensive line, And he
played great this year in granted just one game played
one additional game against the Bears in which he should
have gotten out. Apparently mike'simber was the only one who

(01:20:34):
didn't know is should get out. So if you wanted
to say he's the most underrated quarterback this year, I mean,
get get in line behind Alex Smith, who's got eighteen touchdowns,
one interception. Get in line behind Kirk Cousins, who everybody
has said just a guy. He had. His quarterback rating
is one oh one oh two. He has thirteen touchdowns,
four interception. Get in line behind Russell Wilson, who keeps winning,

(01:20:57):
and yet many people myself included, have never consider durned
him an elite quarterback. That's good. We'll find out how
good now that he doesn't have Zeke yes rhyme music.
You know, it's interesting when you look at those quarterbacks
from last year and Dak has come has gone from

(01:21:20):
what everyone thought was like, wow, look at this guy
coming out of nowhere. Two then they weren't able to
actually win a playoff game. Two. Now this year they've
sort of underperformed, but they've done well since the bye week,
and everyone would have said that, no doubt about it.
At the end of last year, he looks like the
best quarterback, with Carson Wentz as a close second, maybe

(01:21:42):
you could argue one versus the other. And then now
with the way Jared Goff's been playing, it's almost as
if Dak has gone from the best quarterback in that
draft to right where he was drafted, maybe like the
third best quarterback in that just all in the matter
of one year, and not even a whole lot has
changed that than Jared Goff looks like he's finally playing
up to what number one overall pick potential is supposed

(01:22:05):
to look like. Well, I think it has a lot
of change. You're surrounding pieces shounding parts that that's changed. Right, So, um,
look he's still Paxton Lynch. Remember was taken in that draft.
At wasn't he He's better than Packiston Lynch. I think
we can we can conclude that, so he wasn't. While
I would agree with you, there's a reason he's better

(01:22:27):
than Christian Hackenburg, who was taken the second round by
the Jets. Um, I mean like, look, you get a
starting quarterback in that round. He's better Jacobe bust down.
Jacoby Brissette I think is a little bit better than
we thought. Remember the Patriots took him in the third round.
You wonder how good would Jacoby Brissetti if he had
Zeke Elliott if he was behind the Dallas Cowboys line.

(01:22:50):
That that's that was really the argument against him. Do
I think he's should be a fourth rounder? No, if
you redrafted him Cardale Jones, I believe went Carl Jones
go before him or just after him. I know Cardel
Jones was a fourth round pick. He went just after him,
and Cardel Jones not a not an NFL quarterback, so

(01:23:11):
it was fair to say he was underrated coming out
of college, even with the d U I. But the
argument is really simple. It's the look at all the
guys he has around him, and he's got to evolve
into a first round type quarterback. And he's had plenty
of time to do so. He's gotten plenty of kind
of credit hours. He still has a talent wide receiving course,

(01:23:33):
still has a good offensive line. He should be performing
above his level, which I think he is. I don't
think he's I thought he was overrated last year. I
think he's um probably a little bit overly regarded this year.
But you gotta remember, Skip Baylis is like the world's
biggest Dallas Cowboys fan, and so that's kind of the
basis of his argument, right, he doesn't like Lebron. He

(01:23:54):
got a Lebron tweak in there. He does like the Cowboys,
and he said as much about their quarter back. That's uh,
did you guys see this? The the guys that the
idiots in Boston who made fun of um Roy Holliday
crashing his plane and killing himself apologize today like that's

(01:24:16):
not that's a really really hard that's a really hard
apology to make, Like like that doesn't really matter. The
apologizn't like once she made fun of a dude who
just who everybody says, a pretty good guy who appeared
to be trying something an airplane at the airprane or

(01:24:36):
he wasn't capable of pulling off. What are you doing?
What is the win in a radio segment in which
you make fun of somebody who everybody likes and just
died and nobody else got hurt? Right, there's no like?
What's the win in that? H Nelson? Of those just

(01:25:01):
weird years, last year is the year that a lot
of people died, famous people. This is one of those
weird years in the NFL, not dying, but other words
to night. The suspension of Dallas running back Ezekiel Elliott
is on again. He will miss this Sunday's game in Atlanta.

(01:25:21):
His temporary stay was terminated today. He is suspended as
if today this will be the first game he's missed
this year, coming this weekend. Today, a three judge panel
denied Elliott's motion for an injunction. He was trying to
block the six game suspension. There is an appellet court
that's still going to hear his case down the road
on next Thursday. Night's NFL telecast Tennessee at Pittsburgh. The
primary camera used will be the skycam like a video

(01:25:44):
game view. Injured Carolina tight end Greg Olsen will be
a game analyst for Fox TV on November nine, his
club's by weekend. He joins the Kevin Burkhardt crew that
was going to have Jay Cutler this year. Tonight in
the NFL, Arizona host Seattle PM Easter in time. Seahawks
safety Earl Thomas out again tonight with a hamstring entry.
Paul richardson game time decision with a groin injury. I'm

(01:26:07):
steve to say, what up? Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Mhmm.
You know there are um this happens in in television
shows where you just have weird years. Right. Well, you

(01:26:31):
you go down a path and you're like, uh, we
need to kind of get this back on track. Um.
Sometimes it's the first year of a show. Like if
you go back and you watch the first year of
Seinfeld or the pilot up, you guys ever seen the
pilot episode of Seinfeld? The characters were totally different. They're
the same people, but the roles in which they played

(01:26:54):
were very, very different. Like Jason Alexander's character was actually
kind of cool, kind hip, like a late a little
bit of a ladies man, like a strange bald ladies man.
Like that didn't make any sense. So then they kind
of created the Jorge. They made George Moore happens helplessly,
kind of in love, a dork that hung out with
his mom a bunch, right, the it's not a lie

(01:27:17):
if you believe it. Sometimes in the first year, but
oftentimes when you have long running, you know, Simpsons shows
like The Simpsons, you can go off on divergent paths
and then kind of bring it back like, Yeah, that
wasn't really what we're looking for. Anybody who's binge watch
a TV show. Breaking Bad had episodes even seasons that

(01:27:38):
weren't as good as others. I think the NFL has
have one of those years. I mean it's one of
those anything that could go wrong has gone wrong to
this point. Right. If if I had you right down
the five biggest names in the NFL, let's all do

(01:27:59):
that for a second, Okay, Ryan, I wants you both
Ryan's and wants you guys to do it right down
to five without looking five. Steve to Seger you write
down the five biggest names. Um, we're even gonna have
our talented in turn right down her the five biggest names,
five biggest name. Don't look okay, five biggest names in

(01:28:25):
the NFL, I'll write, I'll write down mine. Okay, okay,
I got huh all right, Ryan Music, Ryan Music, who
are your five biggest names? I wrote down Aaron Rodgers,
Tom Brady, Odell, Beckham Jr. Cam Newton, and von Miller,

(01:28:45):
Von Miller than you using a lot of commercials. Uh okay, uh,
Ryan Smith, go ahead. I wrote down Tom Brady, Aaron Rodgers, Gronkowski, Beckham,
Bronk and Derek Carr. Derek Carr, your Raiders fan. I

(01:29:05):
wouldn't set to anybody. Steve, just say, give me your
five names, Tom Brady, Ezekiel, Elliott, Drew Brees, O'Dell, Beckham,
and Eli Manning. The last name means something. Give me.
Give me those names one more time. Tom Brady, Ezekiel, Elliott,
Drew Brees, Odell, Beckham, Eli Manning. Um I had Aaron Rodgers,

(01:29:26):
Tom Brady, those the big two biggest to J. J. Watt,
Cam Newton, Ockhum Jr. Okay, Now if I did a
secondary list. I'd probably put Zeke on there. Um, and
and you know Drew Brees, Shelby, who do you have.
Shelby's a little bit younger, Okay, Shelby's our our intern
shall be giving your list, Um, Tom Brady, Dark Prescott,

(01:29:49):
Cam Newton, Aaron Rodgers, and O'Dell. Okay, so we're all
about around the same names. I think you guys are
not having J. J. Watton the list. It's a little
bit of regional bias there, like G. G. Watts, A
H Huge, Dame Nashally, we'd all agree. Odell Beckham Teters.
I think he's on everybody's list, might not be on
the distakers. They can remember Brady is Aaron Rodgers is now.

(01:30:10):
The thing about Aaron Rodgers more so than Brady is
he's in TV commercials. That helps him. He's always been
on TV commercials. I think that helps von Miller a
little bit. But he's not J. J. Watt in terms
of his commercial appeal. Think about how weird this year
is in the NFL. You have Oh B J out,
you have Aaron Rodgers out, you have J. J. Watt out.

(01:30:33):
Cam Newton has been underperforming based upon reputation plus he's
had some of the missteps with bizarre press conferences, right,
that doesn't help um then. So so look, you take
a couple of the top stars, top draws, completely off
the football field, then you've got a factor this part in.

(01:30:57):
There's the protests, they're uh, the infatuation that we in
the media and this is a reaction to many NFL
players and some NFL fans have that Cam new that
excuse me that collined Kaepernicks not in the league. And
then you have the Zeke Elliott suspension which won't go away,
which is back on again. By the way, if you're

(01:31:18):
scoring at home, it was on again, it was off again,
it was on again, it was off again, it was
on again, it was off again. It's on again. As
of now, they won't have him against the Falcons this weekend.
So when you watch the NFL or think of the NFL,
you think of so many of the stars being out
when we haven't even mentioned Andrew luck who you wouldn't

(01:31:40):
list in the top ten stars, but top ten names.
Everybody knows Andrew luck Is. He was thought to be
one of the bright young rising quarterback stars. Hasn't played
it down for the Colts and the cold stink. It's
really amazing that if you were trying to point out

(01:32:00):
reasons the league struggling, and I started to say the
show and it's not struggling struggling. It's like, no, it's
not like the w NBA where you have to cover
up half the arena. They still said planet. Still plenty
of tickets, Still plenty of people watch it, still wildly profitable.
But when you have protests, which can negatively impact with
the way the consumer views the product, when you have

(01:32:20):
injuries and you're like, well, hold on, it's the NFL,
it's next man up. That's great. You may go to
see Hambleton's, but it's completely different Hamilton's. When they've changed
the leads, everybody gets bummed out. When remember when Will
Smith they changed the mom in um fresh Prince of
bel Air, right, I mean, Kirstiality was no Shelly Shelly Long.

(01:32:47):
That's that's cheers reference to you. It's the same thing
when you lose. When why would you watch the New
York Giants. I don't know. We've seen the difference in
the Green Bay Pack curse. And though the Houston Texans
were keeping it together when they had Deshaun Watson. They
didn't just lose J. J. Watts, they lost to Shaun

(01:33:08):
Watson too. I mean, like it's crazy because that we
were the players believe that the touchdown celebrations would make
more people watch. That doesn't work. People want to watch
big name players, they want to watch scoring, and they
just want to watch football. And I don't think they

(01:33:28):
necessarily want to watch protests, even if they do agree
with some of the grounds for the protest. That's just
how people are wired. A couple of seasons were moving
from Peyton, and we haven't really replaced Peyton in terms
of a quarterback of a player. J J. Watts the
closest to that level of popularity, but he's been a

(01:33:50):
hurt both the past two years. And he's not a quarterback.
Rogers we like, but he's one of Aaron Rodgers, one
of those guys like me. He's really smart, but he's
kind of California, kind of stand offish. He's just not
as Aug Shucks kicked the dirt the way the Peyton is.
Tom Prady sure, sure as Heck isn't like that either.

(01:34:11):
So you lose Peyton two years ago, you lose Romo
this year. You lose all these players. You're all likable guys. J. J.
Watt Odell Beckham Jr. And you've got the protest and
you have uh this is basically more discussion over domestic
violence with the Zeke Elliott thing, and you got yourself
a really weird year. Weird year, probably the weirdest I

(01:34:36):
can think of. And maybe the hardest part is I'm
not really sure who's all that good. Like the Steelers
are figuring out that we find they'll be in the playoffs,
Patriots are figuring out that we find they'll be in
the playoffs. Rams appeared to be a playoff team. I
guess the Seahawks are a playoff team. Cowboys feel like
they're a playoff team. But NSC North, we're going with

(01:35:00):
the Vikings with case keenum n C South Jacksonville Jaguar
is really gonna win that division. Peter King joins the show.

NFL right now? Is it the Philadelphia Eagles? This is
the Eagles. Also asked him about the newest Zeke suspension
or the fact that Zeke suspensions back on, What does
this mean for the Cowboys and short term future? And
Martellis Bennett cut one day by the Packers, now back
with the Patriots. Why the Packers cut him? We'll find

(01:35:46):
out next in The Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio.
This is the Doug Gottlieb Show on Fox Sports Radio.

(01:36:07):
Visit True Car and enjoying more confident car buying experience.
Doug Gottlieb Show, Fox Sports Radio. Peter King will join
us in moments. We'll get you ready for Thursday Night Football.
I said before though, like the biggest indictment of Thursday
Night football is is really simple. Uh, there's a Thursday
night football game, Thursday night football game tonight. Did you

(01:36:29):
know an even if you knew, dud we did you care?
Hicksburg tweets me, says uh, Doug my five r Tom Brady,
Aaron Rodgers, O B. J. Zeke, and Antonio brown. We
didn't include Antonio Brownie's a great player, one of the
five most stone players, probably five ten most known players
in the NFL. All good list. My my simple point was,

(01:36:51):
think about this year in the NFL, and you have
all the protesting controversy aligned with Colin Kaepernick, then the
Zeke Elliett suspension thing that that won't go away, um
and uh. And you have the injuries to so many,
so many big name players, so many big name players.

(01:37:15):
So one thing on Lonzo Ball before we get to
Peter King. His quote after the game last night they
lost by eleven. The game was a lot close than that.
He was four or fifteen from the floor, he shooting
under from the field, and he said, quote, it's just
in my head. To be honest, I know I can
shoot the ball. Um. Okay, First of all, I there's

(01:37:43):
a reason that guys don't shoot the ball from the
left side of their head. I know there's a lot
of you like, look we look at the percentage you
shot in college. Everything is about likelihood, likelihood, likelihood of success.
When we say a shot is a good shot. It's
because there's a strong likelihood of success. And when you

(01:38:06):
shoot the ball on the left side of your head,
you're the likelihood of consistency is lessened greatly because you
can't have your right elbow in the same place every time,
because where you release the ball on the left side
of your head varies every time. The reason it's ideal
to shoot the ball on the right side of your

(01:38:26):
head is your elbow is always underneath the ball. Gives
you not just more range, but more consistency in terms
of release. The ball goes straighter more often. That's why
they have you shoot the ball there. So if you
want to use college basketball and those numbers, good for it.
But the further out you are in an NBA game,

(01:38:48):
you're shooting NBA length three is the further out you
are when you when you would have missed by a
couple of inches in a college three, you missed by
a foot and a pro three, which is the nature
of angles. But if he wants to say it's all
in his head, he knows he can shoot, it's not
in your head. If it's in your head, then you're

(01:39:11):
saying yourself, I don't think I can shoot, but everybody
else is tell me I can shoot. This is in
your skill and and the most important thing to remember
is he's not able to make drives. He's not able
to finish. That's where his percentage is. That's why his
percentage is hurts so so so modily. I think it's
just in my head. He owns the league's worst shooting

(01:39:34):
percentage among players who have attempted at least thirty shots.
He's got the league's worst three point percentage at twenty
three point one, eight point eight from the field at
the league's worst mid range percentage. So the reason it's

(01:39:56):
not working is because it's broke. But he needs to.
If you make layups, the percentages would shoot up. And
everybody's focused on the three point shots, which is it's
really normal. Look, I was a guy. You go back
and look, you're like, you couldn't shoot. I could shoot.
I absolutely could shoot. But it was in my head

(01:40:20):
because at the time when I would get out there,
I would think to myself, I can make it, and
then you get it in your body and everything else
is telling you you can't make it. But what ends
up happening is the more people say you can't shoot,
the more you try and prove them wrong that you
can't shoot, and that's the wrong way to do it.
Do what you do best and make your layups and

(01:40:40):
your percentage, your numbers all go way up and go
away up all right. By the way, if you miss
c J McCullum or Kirk Farrens or r J. Bell.
Earlier in the show, sign up for the doug Otlip
Show podcast. That was awesome. Coach Farrens telling us about
how that I A wave started one woman, small town

(01:41:03):
in Iowa. That was incredible, incredible story. And c J
apparently wants to go in the media, uh, doing some
doing some DJ work on a local hip hop radio show,
and of course also working for iHeart, which by the
way owns our company as well. So this Martellus Bennett
story is interesting. So Martellus Bennet, of course played last

(01:41:25):
year for the New England Patriots. He had fifty five catches,
seven one yards seven touchdowns. He was a he had
a big role in their championship season. They waived him
because he failed to disclose a physical uh that that
how he got hurt. During the bye week. Bennett said

(01:41:46):
on social media that he was pretty sure he would
retire after the season. Then he was sidelined with the
shoulder injury following the first practice. After by what basically
happened was he must have hurt his shoulder during ring
the break, not told anybody, and then after the first
practice gone in and said, yep, hurt my shoulder at practice,

(01:42:06):
and like, now you didn't you were hurt beforehand. So
now the Paths, who have made a career and made
historic moves in which they cut guys right before um
their time in the NFL is up, suddenly now bring
one back and they cut a defensive end in the process.

(01:42:27):
That's a weird story, even by the even by the
New England Patriots. But even for the Newland Patriots, that's
a bizarre story, right. The Packers didn't believe him, or
didn't like the fact that he wasn't honest and forthcoming
about his injury. I told you before, you want to
get fired, first way to get fired is to lie

(01:42:47):
to your boss. But then the Patriots pick him up,
and I guess the Patriots need him. I guess. I mean, look,
familiarity makes it really really simple. And as they continue
to try and deal with not having Julian Edelman. They
try and give Tom Brady more and more weapons to
throw too, but the Patriots signing another tight end, Like

(01:43:12):
I don't Maybe that's just saying that Dwayne Allen can't
play right, which is reasonable. They made a mistake in
Duyne Allen. They're trying to eradicate that mistake with Martella's Bennett.
Let's welcome in Peter King, who joins us in the
Doug Gotlip Show. Peter, what did Martella's Bennett do to
get himself run out of Green Bay? That's a really

(01:43:34):
good question, and it sounds like it sounds like he
misled the packers about his injury. Um, but I don't
know that. I mean, I hate to say it, but
that's that's on a list of about nine things on
the pad next to my laptop right now that I
have to find out what exactly happened. But I'll tell

(01:43:55):
I'll say you it's a darn weird story. It is
a weird story. Now he's back into England and we're like, Okay,
I'm sure they get him a pennies on the dollar,
but that's just weird. He goes away for their their
bye week, comes back, hurts shoulder, in practice, and he
must have heard his shoulder at home and he must
have lied to them about it, right, And then that's
that's a reasonable conclusion to make. That's exactly what I thought.

(01:44:19):
But I don't know if that's the truth. I mean,
that's my suspicion, but I really don't know if that's
the truth. We'll we'll, we'll find out, and I'll definitely
find out. The Great Peter King joining us on the
Doug Gotlip Show. Other news of the day is the
on again, off again, on again, off again, on again
is the suspension of Ezekiel Elliott, and this one because

(01:44:40):
of the timing during the week of when it came down,
it feels hard to believe that he won't at least
miss this Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons. Is that
a reasonable conclusion to make? It's reasonable? But I mean
a week ago today, everybody was sure that he wasn't
playing against the Kansas City Chiefs. And so you know,

(01:45:01):
I've I have, Doug so far, I've been wrong sixteen
times on this and instead of being wrong a seventeenth time,
all I'm going to say is this appears to have
some finality to it. And it appears that he's going
to have to serve his suspension starting Sunday when he
misses the game in Atlanta. But I think when I

(01:45:26):
turn on the TV at four, our turn on that
game at four on Sunday, all then know if that's
exactly what happened, because this thing doesn't have nine lives,
that has um. That's uh, that's incredibly, incredibly accurate. Peter
King joining us on the Doug Gotlat Show. What about

(01:45:47):
the reports of Jerry Jones trying to block the contract
extension of Roger Goodell, hiring a lawyer to dig up
dirt on Goodell and try and expose any flaws within Goodell,
uh and and his ledership. Um? Are you here? I
don't know. It's hard. It's hard for me to imagine
how any lawsuit to stop the contract could be successful

(01:46:12):
for this reason, because six months ago, Jerry Jones joined
with his fellow owners in authorizing the um the Compensation Committee.
Every owner authorized the Compensation Committee to make a deal
with Goodell. And so I mean it's possible that that

(01:46:35):
there's going to be some Sabers rattled here, and the
Sabers will be rattled here and it's possible that they
could do something, uh you know, and could and could
make it very hard um for Roger Goodell to have
a peaceful next x number of years in office. But look, Doug,

(01:46:56):
I maintain this that this is about the perception, not
just with Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder and Bob McNair, who
I believe would like to see a change at commissioner,
but this is about an awful lot of owners in
the league who right now feel that, uh you know.

(01:47:17):
There are, however, many now fourteen fifteen, sixteen players in
the NFL either uh kneeling or sitting for the national anthem.
That's basically about one percent, maybe a little less than
one percent of the players who dress every Sunday for
NFL games. And I think that that a lot of

(01:47:40):
owners believe right now that if why are we paying
this commissioner thirty five million dollars If he can't find
some way and press whatever buttons need to be pressed
to get sixteen people to stand up for the national anthem,
It's fairly I hate to say it's fairly simple, but

(01:48:00):
it is. And that is that's something that bothers more
than just two or three owners in the league right now,
bothers a lot of them. And I think one of
the one of the one of the bothersome aspects of
this is that they feel like the commissioner just doesn't
have the juice that he needs to uh to make deals,

(01:48:22):
to make a lot of tough deals. So you know,
that's that's one of the that's one of the bones
of contention that people like Jerry Jones have with the commissioner.
How can any how can any commissioner think they come
in and make sure everybody stands. I don't know that
any commissioner can. But but if you but but I guess,

(01:48:43):
I guess the that history would tell you that the
last commissioner, um, Paul Tagliabu uh in a situation like this,
if it happened, say fifteen years ago, um, you know,
before the untimely death of Gene Upshaw. UH, if it
had been when Paul tag Leaboo was working with Gene Upshaw,

(01:49:04):
that he that Paul tag Leaboo could have called Gene
Upshaw and said, hey, listen, you know we are going
to begin to lose some advertisers if this continues, and
you know, uh, your players are going to are going
to begin, uh to see a lessoning of the salary
cap if we don't get the players to stand for

(01:49:27):
the anthem. That's what it comes down to for the owners.
Um that you know, the Papa John's of the world,
the you know, the Miller Lights of the world, the
Buds whoever is State Farms of the world, that at
some point they're gonna get tired of this and say,
I'll just go to the NBA, or I'll go to
MLB or whatever. And yeah, we'll miss the NFL because

(01:49:48):
it's got the biggest audiences. But we don't we're not
going to stand for we're getting. Because here's the thing, Doug,
what I heard is that some of these advertisers were
getting thousands of phone calls on Monday when uh, you know,
when the networks were showing, uh, you know, we're showing
guys Sit and Neil for the anthem. And and so

(01:50:11):
I think these companies that are getting massive reaction from
people anti NFL reaction, they may not do it now,
but I think going into two thousand and eighteen, they're
gonna have some significant second thoughts on, you know, whether
to re up their advertising those who who's whose deals
expire after this year. Yeah, and then you have you know,

(01:50:33):
I think a good portion of the numbers being down
is a game like tonight, Like look, the Seahawks are
a wildly popular team. I get it. Pacific Northwest and
West Coast games are really really hard taking on the Cardinals,
who are are are the essence of an average team
at formed for they're closer to rebuilding than they are
being a playoff team. But because there's so many games
on Peter, they kind of lost their importance. They've they

(01:50:56):
you know, they've is the proliferation of NFL games on
these teems like it's a bad thing, and that seems
like it's kind of turned some of the people off.
Is that is that a fair might be down? You know,
I guess so. But was anybody saying this in two
thousand fifteen. I mean, there's the same number of NFL

(01:51:17):
games on in two thousand fifteen that are on now,
And I don't think anybody was saying that in two
thousand fifteen. Now there's only there's only one small difference
in two thousand fifteen verses today. There was only one
nine thirty am game in two thousand fifteen and this

(01:51:38):
year there were three. That's the only difference in the
TV schedule. Okay, So for everybody who says, ah, proliferation,
proliferation of games, too many games on, I mean, you know,
so I don't. I'm trying to Okay, if that, if
that is part of the reason, Uh, then why didn't

(01:52:02):
that show up in two thousand fifteen when the ratings
were on average I guessed the last time I looked
about fifteen percent higher than they are now. Uh. The
Denver Broncos are run by one of the great quarterbacks,
maybe the greatest quarterback to ever play the game. And
yet he's got three on that roster that can't play,

(01:52:23):
that that can't play. I mean, it's the craziest thing. Uh,
the craziest thing in the world. Um, they got the
Patriots at home, but if you've watched them, it's really
an indictment of their evaluation of the corporate and they
have offensive line issues as well. Give me your sense
at the level of frustration in Denver over their quarterback play. Well, look,

(01:52:45):
you know they Trevor Simeon was a seventh round pick
from Northwestern who I believe, uh is a very solid
backup quarterback. He's he's Ryan Fitzpatrick. Okay, he's he's maybe
not as good as Josh McCown, but he's he's a

(01:53:07):
he's a good backup quarterback. He's the being whatever he is,
all right, Um, brock Oswidler, in my opinion, he is
very nice guy. But I would never have brock Oswiler
on my team. I don't. I don't know that he's
scared or whatever he is. All I know is that
he's incredibly inaccurate and I don't trust him to run

(01:53:30):
my scout team. Uh, Paxiston Lynch, this is starting to
be really really weird, really weird. When I was in
training camp, I saw it. And I was in training
camp in Denver pretty early this year. Okay, but I
when I left there, I said, and again he ended
up getting hurt. But when I left there, I really

(01:53:53):
felt like, uh, Paxiston Lynch was going to be the
quarterback of the team on October one or what. At
some point in the first half of the season he'd
take over. And then he got hurt. And now, uh,
you know, whether it's his work ethic which has been
questioned or whatever, all you here are these Yeah, but

(01:54:15):
things out of Green Bay about Paxton Lynch. So, honestly,
I think what you're going to see the Denver Broncos
do this offseason. I mean, I've thought about this a lot,
and I try to read the mind of John Elway,
but I think he's going to go out on the
market and try as hard as he can to go
get an established quarterback to play for him for the

(01:54:39):
next two or three years. Now, line up the usual
suspects there. Could he trade for Philip Rivers, probably not
in the division. Could he trade for Eli Manning? Now
there's an interesting question, and how how incredibly interesting would
that be? You know, his first big deal was signing Peyton.
I mean, imagine if he traded for Eli. But but again,

(01:55:00):
all I'm doing is making wild guesses because I know
John Elway is not going into two thousand eighteen with
this quarterback situation that he's got on his roster. I
need some really quick ones. Will Garoppolo played this year
for the Niners. Absolutely, yes, and he should. But there's

(01:55:21):
no reason to rush him in because the offensive line
is so incredibly leaky right now minus Staley, McAdoo lost.
As McAdoo lost the team, I don't think he's lost
the team. But I also don't think that he's doing
a good job either. And even though there's only been
one coach in the last eighty years of the New

(01:55:44):
York Giants who has been fired after two years or less,
I'd say the odds are only fifty fifty that that
McAdoo will keep his job beyond January one. How legitimate
is the shoulder injury to Luck? Is it in his
head or is there actually something wrong with his shoulders? Still?
Who Andrew Luck? Oh? Uh No, I mean, he's legitimately sore.

(01:56:06):
It's not in his head. This is the thing I say.
This is you know, I look, I'm not, I don't.
I don't want to be rash about this. But Jimmy
here say has got a zip it? He's got a
zip it. Andrew Luck played twenty one football games when
his shoulder was injured. Okay, after his shoulder was injured

(01:56:28):
in September two fifteen against Tennessee, uh and injured to
the point that it eventually required surgery, he played twenty
one football games. If that's a guy who doesn't have guts,
give me forty five of those guys. It's a ridiculous statement.
If if if if Jimmy ear say is implying that

(01:56:51):
I wonder if our quarterback is willing to play hurt.

Pleasures mind, let's quickly get you to Steve de Segger
for an update on what's going on in the world sports. Well,
we'll start with the Ezekiel Elliot news is the suspension
of the Dallas running back is on again. He will
miss this Sunday's game in Atlanta, the first he's missed
this year. It's not completely over the whole process, and

(01:57:36):
appellate court will still hear his case December the first,
but today was the big one. A three judge panel
denied Elliott's motion for injunction. He is suspended as if today.
He will not play this weekend and beyond. Elliott's temporary
stay has been terminated. Meanwhile, Atlanta wide receiver Julio Jones
did not practice again today. Ankle injury the problem. Cowboys

(01:57:58):
star wide receiver Dez Bryant did not practice today due
to a bad knee, but he does plan to do
so on Friday. Well Dolphins defensive tackle and Donma Kong
Sue practice today. He's had a bad knee. He expects
to play on Monday. Miami running back Damian Williams was
out today due to illness. Tom Savage due to start
at the Rams on Sunday for the Texans, but the
team says backup quarterback t J. Yate's got some reps

(01:58:20):
with the first team this week. The Colts released defensive
back Vonte Davis. He'll have season and in growing surgery.
Davis's contract was up after this season. NFL has Seattle
at Arizona tonight. Three college football games not involving ranked teams,
five games in the NBA. Milwaukee coach Jason Kidd was
fine fifteen thousand dollars for criticizing the refs on Tuesday.

(01:58:41):
Back to you, Thanks so much, Steve steven Sager joining
us Doug gottlip Show Fox Sports Radio. You heard Peter
King talk about it. Um, will the will the Giants
make a head coaching change in the middle of the season.

one of the promos. Jason Smith Show, Jason Smith Overnights

(01:59:22):
You're on Fox Sports Radio. It's funny, he said, Um,
he was talking about the topic we talked about yesterday,
Bobby Knight calling out John Wooden and Sam Gilbert uh
and that he didn't believe that Bob Knight got all
of his players without the help of a booster, that
his sparkling personality is what got him the players. Um,

(01:59:45):
somebody record this and sentenced to Jason, I love you.
We used to work together a different plays and I
like your show now. But actually Bob Knight, when he
wanted to a great personality was engaging, was funny, and
only didn't have the help of boosters to get him players.
He didn't He didn't have boosters give him players money,

(02:00:06):
flying them across country in order to bring them out
to l A. He didn't like. He's a lot of
things I yesterday we talked about what is he? He
was he a bully? Was he did? He failed to
change in terms of his style to the twenty century
and placed three point shot. You know, there's a lot
of things to which you can smartly take shots at

(02:00:28):
Bob Night four. But to say he didn't have a
good personality for recruiting, that that's just not accurate. Now,
he didn't like to recruit at the end. Ultimately that's
what led him to leave get fired at at they
kind of started to fade in Indiana, albeit you know,
his interim head coach took them to a national championship game.
And why he always struggled at Texas Tech, it's that's

(02:00:50):
a you've got to really get out there and recruit.
He didn't necessarily like to recruit at the end when
he's in his sixties, but when he wanted to when
he was in his prime, he was at Harming engaging guy.
And yeah, he did go get players anyway, Like look
if if a if a guy's a bad guy, I'll
tell you. But and and I thought he did many

(02:01:11):
things that encapsulates what a bully is. But don't get
a twist on who he was when he was right.
Let's get to the press, the press, Doug Gottlie Show,

(02:01:34):
Fox Sports Radio. I just want to make sure the
president sponsored, I don't know, sponsor to the press. All right,
let's bring in Steve to Steger. So it's like that
Ernie Johnson segment on TT sponsored by Noah. A couple
of NBA items and then a couple of n h
L items for your first off. Sam A. McK longtime

(02:01:54):
basketball writer, says I can confirm that the NBA All
Star Game will be in Chicago. Announcement tomorrow. ESPN points
out this will be the first All Star Game at
the United Center because last time they had All Star
Weekend in Chicago and it was at Chicago Stadium and
Jordan's shockingly won the dunk contest. I have the photo
by the way of him taking off the poster of

(02:02:15):
him taking off from the free throw line, and that
was the classic with Dominique right. Lebron James on the Calves,
his team, by the way, playing tonight with a five
and six record, and they're at Houston Dereck Rose out
with an ankle injury. Lebron says they're not counting on
Isaiah Thomas to fix everything when he finally returns from
the right hit right hip injury. Quote. We can't rely

(02:02:36):
on just one person for us to be as good
as we want to be, whether it's I t or
myself for Tristan Thompson being out, we have guys who
have to step up. Yeah, I mean, look, that's also
a clever way of pointing out that they don't have
two of their starting five um. But he's accurate, it's
not going to be. It's also I think it would

(02:02:56):
be smart of him to say, like, look, as much
as Isaiah Thomas will really really help us on offense
because he can score, he needs the ball, that will
be different, and we need to hide him defensively. That
will be different. So it won't even when he comes back,
it's not immediately gonna mean they're gonna win games. You
mentioned with Peter King about the NFL and the contract
extension for Roger Goodell. The point there from the NFL

(02:03:19):
spokesman today is the owners already voted this spring unanimously
to authorize the Compensation Committee to enter into negotiations on
an extension for the commission to offer him an extension
through four. So they're expecting that to be done soon,
although they don't have an actual date to project. But
Roger Goodell became commissioner of the NFL two thousand and six.

(02:03:40):
This carries him through. Yeah. I I would say this
that as much as they already agreed and can go
through with with the contract, you get enough powerful owners
to go like, hey, hold on until that. You know,
no deal is done until they sign on the line
that has dotted, and that's that that has not the
eyes have not been dotted, the tea have not been crossed.

(02:04:01):
We mentioned Ben McAdoo earlier in the show, criticized head
coach of the Giants, a criticized team at one and seven,
he thinks they can still make a run this year.
In ESPN, source says the Giants do not plan on
making any decisions on changes to the coaching staff or
front office until after the season, and that any griping
is just normal griping from a losing team during the season.

(02:04:24):
That's going on now. The Giants, they point out, have
not fired a coach during the season since the nineteen seventies. Um,
you know, you know, reports that are inaccurate are erroneous, right, correct?
So are reports that are correct roneous? Would that be
a erroneous report? I mean, like, but reporting that the

(02:04:45):
Giants aren't going to fire Ben McAdoo, who nobody thought
was gonna be firing I'm gonna fire him mid season,
who nobody thought was gonna be fired midseason, is honestly
the dumbest report. It's it's roney, it's accurate. That's a
that's a sniglet your crea in your own words like
the old Saturday Lives catches. Yeah, well, I'm not creating
my own words. I'm breaking out the prefix era is

(02:05:06):
not you know, is it's not an error? Right? So
it's it's erroneous um or I don't know, no error.
I guess The point is this, it's it's interesting, I guess,
but he wasn't. Nobody suggested he was gonna be fired
mid season, Nobody during the season. Now, and the big
question is, as Peter King put it out and only

(02:05:28):
fired one coach in eighty years. That's in his second year,
in the second year coaching the Giants. That would be
That's where people want to know the answer, and the
ESPN story didn't tell us. We have two other stories.
One that college basketball season opens tomorrow and that includes
the U c l A Georgia Tech game in China.
The Atlantic Current Journal Constitution says the three U c
l A players that add the shoplifting charge are expected

(02:05:52):
to serve twenty days of house arrest for the alleged
shop in China. In China, at the luxury hotel where
U c l A has been staying this week. It's
the craziest thing ever. Alright, guys, beat news is got
cut choplifting and you can't go home. Good news is
you get to stay in a five star hotel for
twenty days straight. Quite the bill minibar be getting crushed.

(02:06:13):
So will this affect eligibility later on? Missing three weeks
of classes? The theoretically, you know is a student at
u c l ah No, most guys don't. Don't. Honestly,
most guys take a lot of guys take online classes
now anyway, Okay, and Finally, a class of seventy announced
today for the National Toy Hall of Fame. The three
that get in the board game Clue, paper, airplanes and

(02:06:37):
whiffle ball is in the Toy Hall of Fame. Now
still a big sell. How is airplane paper? Airplanes are
not a toy? I agree, it's not manufactured. Get out
there and pressed that the press. My kids have very
few toys. I'm a bad parent like that. I refused
to buy buy toys for most part. My daughters have
a junior jumps there. They jump horses. They have these

(02:06:58):
like fake little things that they hump over. The dog
jumps over. My son has video games and sports sports
stuff and that's about it. Little nerve hoop is a
nerve hoop in ner nerve basketball whop has to be
that you put in the back of your backboard and
your your your door. That's gotta be in there, gotta
be in there alright back tomorrow. Get you ready for
a huge sports weekend. Doug out them show
