Remember Ryan to The Doug got Leave Show is brought
to you by the good folks at Farmers and Farmers.
(00:48):
We've seen almost everything, so we know how to cover
almost anything when it's game time. Having experienced players stay
ahead of the game, put their experience into play at
Farmers dot com. Are Farmers Last night, Russell Westbrook was
five of one. That's in game four. He did not
make a basket of field goal in the second half,
missed a big free throw late as well as they're
(01:10):
trying to cut the lead from ten to eight. Only
made one free throw oh of seven from the field
and second half. That's the worst of his career. He's
on pays for the third straight postseason where Westbrook will
shoot under from the floor in the third straight first
round exit, the twenty nine time in Westbrook's playoff career
that he's missed at least fifteen shots, which is eight
(01:32):
more than any other player since Westbrook's first playoff appearance
in two thousand. Ohver Russell Westbrook is averaging a treble
double for the third year straight. He has a raw
markup ball player. We have created a monster by becoming
gross stat guy. We have completely lost sight, lost complete
(01:55):
site of net stats, efficiency stats. I mean, look, we
do this all the time in business, where we go,
oh man, look at the gross revenue. It is so
much higher than it's ever been. This is one of
the things we do in college sports. As we talked
about the gross revenue that schools make, Like, man, they
(02:18):
make this from TV and this from radio and this
from this and they sell booze and they guess what, Yeah,
they make more money. They also spend more money because
everything costs more money than it's ever cost before. Russell
Westbrook is an H two Hummer, Remember the H two Hummer,
And you're like, man, those things are cool looking. They're
(02:39):
really cool. They run over stuff. They kind of look
like a military vehicle, right because they are taking from
a military vehicle, but they get terrible gas mileage. And
nobody's kind of into that stuff anymore. Now it's about
ergonomics and efficiency. Heck, I don't know if you know this,
but one I'm not gonna sell you on pickup trucks,
(03:00):
but one of the pickup trucks is in fact all aluminium.
Years ago, you couldn't sell aluminum trucks to truck I
because they weren't tough enough. They weren't sturdy enough. Like, actually,
they're just the same as the other ones, only they're
much lighter, so they save much more on gas, so
they're more efficient. Sorry, the old school days of H
(03:25):
two hummer are gone and now efficiency rules the day.
This is all forms of business. I was on the
phone two days ago with a friend of mine and
I was like, what time do you guys meet at
the office, And he's like, you know, I'll be honest
with you. Our offices are totally just for show. I
don't believe my guys need an office. You got a laptop,
(03:47):
you got a cell phone, you like coffee, go down
and do it at Starbucks. It doesn't. People are more
efficient than they've ever been, you know. Yeah, I get
things done and the time which I want to get
things done. It's much the way. You can download this
show on a podcast form if you want to be
efficient that way. We have an unbelievable list of guests.
(04:09):
Quinnin Williams from Alabama, DK Metcat from Ole, miss Dwayne
Haskins from Ohouse State, Chris fieland Ohouse State guy but
an NFL and Fox analyst and a Fox Sports radio
draft host. He'll join us. We got so much good
draft stuff. But you know what, like if at some
point in the day you gotta go do something else,
don't worry. We got the efficiency plan for you. You
(04:29):
can stick with us on radio wherever you listen to
us on our hundreds of Avilians nationwide, or you want
to do so more concise fashion that on the podcast
you We're fine. I get it. I got a life too.
Chris Haynes, by the way, we'll join us later on
the show Yahoo, NBA. Inside's gonna join us in a
fifteen minutes, but by by constantly affirming that Russell Westbrook
(04:50):
is playing the right way and nothing's wrong, and what's
wrong is us not with you. We're like, how long
this year have I said the shooting was a problem.
It wasn't just the free throws. Three point shooting is
not getting better, and the league, everyone else is you
can't do the in a vacuum thing, not a vacuum.
(05:13):
He's averaging and triple double, yes, but this is not
a vacuum. You're in a sport where there's more possessions
and he still dominates the basketball and more possessions, more shots,
is more rebounds and more opportunities for assists. And then yeah,
he ever just double figures. But I mean, look, dude,
if you play thirty five minutes in the NBA, you're
gonna average double figures. That doesn't do anything for me.
(05:33):
And it's not just that he's not a good shooter.
It's twofold. He's not improving as a shooter, and he
keeps shooting like he is improving as a shooter. Russell
Westbrook shot for two thousand threes in his NBA career.
He's below. We don't need to see more of Russell
Wilson Ago, Like, man, you know this is kind of
weird that he's missing all these shows. No, it's not,
(05:55):
you know, I mean, we've seen enough to know this
is who he is. And then you have the sideshow
of not wanting to answer Barry Trammell's questions and for
for the record, Barry Trammels a calumnist for the Oklahoman.
He's also he does sports radio as well. He's pretty opinionated,
but it's not like he's a he's it's not like
(06:17):
he's for for the for the State. He's the most
opinionative columnist, but one I don't know anybody who legitimately
picks up the newspaper anymore. That's not to diminish Barry,
because he's a good writer too. I don't agree with
all his opinions, but I'd always have him on the show.
I don't care like that doesn't just I mean the
the Trailblazers are winning this series from the time the
(06:41):
ball is tipped up to the time the buzzer sounds,
and then after the game in the post game where C. J.
McCall was like, look, we're sweet. Last swept last year,
and I was embarrassed, and so he made it up
to like they're not they're playing without Yoseph nur kis
there starting center. And I'm not putting all of the
blame on Russell Westbrook, but dude, at some point, it's
(07:05):
your team. You keep taking more shots, you keep missing
more shots, and you keep kind of trying to jam
that square peg into a round hole and it ain't working.
And then oh yeah, by the way, while it's not
all of your fault, you and your teammates are getting
lit up by two guard guys who play the same
position you do. So I think this whole thing is fascinating.
(07:30):
But we're as much to blame as Russell Westbrook is
to blame because we champion those gross stats during the
year and we turn a blind eye to the lack
of efficiency. Efficiency rules the day, efficiency heck in the NFL.
This week's in me about the NFL draft efficiency. What
do you do on third down? You know, do you
(07:51):
turn to turn? Do you turn to football? Over same
thing in basketball. We we want to say that the
Virginia's Virginia's offense is boring, you know it is. It's
actually the most efficient offense in college basketball. They don't
turn the basketball over, they get a shot almost every time,
and they score points per possession more than anybody in
the in the sport efficiency rules today. Well, and just
(08:16):
because we want the three point shots are the way
of the future, Like, look, at some point you gotta
realize not a three point shooter. You're open for a reason.
And I think it's amazing. I don't think it's I
don't believe it's the top line of why Kevin Durant
(08:38):
left the Thunder. I don't. I don't think it's one
of the top three reasons that he left the Thunder.
But it is interesting that Kevin Durant leaves the Thunder
goes to Golden States a two time finals m v P.
He played remarkably well in Game three and yesterday in
Game four he's talking about Clay Thompson was awesome. But
didn't KD have an efficient thirty three? I think he did.
(09:00):
He continues to thrive and succeed on a basketball court. Meanwhile,
Russell Westbrook continues to struggle on a basketball court. And
you can give me the well k D left but
he's got Paul George, who I think everyone believes he's
not quite Kevin Durant, but he's not too shabby, even
though he's playing with a bum shoulder right now. So
(09:21):
I don't put all the blame on Russell Westbrook. I
blame us. I blame Pundin's, I blame people who look
at gross stats. I blame NBA people as well, who
just I blame Twitter, you know, who have championed his
style of play, and man, he's really he makes mean faces,
he rocks the baby. He rocks the baby. I don't
even know why that's supposedly a cool thing. I'm rocking
(09:41):
the baby, right, Okay, just make more shots, fewer turnovers,
and take make good plays on defense. But hey, hey,
you know, you know nine nine five of twenty one
is what we should be concerned with. How efficient are
(10:02):
you in any business you're in now? Is what your boss? Well,
I don't know how many hours you were at the job.
What did what did you do during that time? You know,
I got in about four am and then I well,
you're playing solitaire, and then you took a nap at work.
Then you had a two hour had a two hour lunch,
like I might prefer the guy that gets in, you know,
(10:23):
at nine thirty and does not stop working until twelve thirty.
Then he goes has a fifteen minute lunch and then
works until three thirty and gets way more done. That's
the way the world is working, and Russell Westbrook is
working in the opposite direction, and it just gets exposed
in the playoffs year after year after year. He's not
the only reason that they're losing, and he's not the
(10:45):
only reason for the problem. We're just as much part
of the problem because we champion gross stats, not efficient stats.
So stop with the triple double stuff because it doesn't
really matter. That's what everyone who's really smart has been saying.
And now you're like, oh, I kind of get it. Yes,
he's averaging twenty one point three eight point three rebounds,
(11:06):
nine point eight assists, which you would think is great
until you realize from three, he's shooting his average at
thirty from three point range, and he's actually shooting better
at the free throw line than he does in the
regular season at but he's averaging four and a half
turnovers a game at a high usage clip, and he's
shooting a terrible percentaial floor. Meanwhile, the guys that he's
(11:27):
guarding are being far more efficient with a similar or
lesser usage rating. Coming up next, NBA insider Chris Haines
joins the show What has What will happen in Oklahoma
City if they lose in the first round? Again, for
the record, I am not declaring the series over. Could
(11:48):
have won game one. Uh, that thing got a little
out of hand, But it's not crazy to think they
could win game five. And if you win five, you'll
turn home to six and you go to seven. Anything
can happen. I mean three games to one series over right? Whoops?
Don't mention that Oklahoma City or Golden State. But if
they lose a fourth, fourth game to the Trailblazers, what happens?
(12:10):
And what do we think about Steve Kerr's comments about
players shunning the media. We'll discuss with Chris Haynes next.

with Chris Haynes. Um. When I say Oklahoma City Trailblazers series,
what do what's you? What's the first thing out of
your mouth? Um? The dame, the dominance of dame. Um.
(13:24):
You know, just just the composer that he showed throughout
the series. Uh, you know, he's just taking really control
of the series of the game plan. You can see
at times, especially the last two games on the road,
when it seems like okay See made a run and
got the fans all upout their seat. You've seen kind
of day control the pace, and he did a lot
(13:46):
of that last night when when Okay, so he was
trying to make their run, and uh, I just like
the composer he's playing with, because obviously the matchup between
him and Russ he's been what everybody's insalivating over and
talking about. And he's just a really even killed man.
I definitely think he's been cute to this series thus far,
and he's why, you know, they're one way away from
(14:06):
their mast to the second round. Doug Otlib Show here
on Fox Sports Radio. I mean I could go, I
could go a bunch of different directions, right, Um. You
know that that's an incredible to some in Portland's backcourt.
But here we have Russell Westbrook, who, for the third
consecutive years average of trouble double and I'm told that
he's historically great because of it. But it's a third
(14:28):
straight year where he's just so inefficient in the playoffs
in spite of the fact that he has plenty of
talent on that team. Maybe they don't have enough shooting,
but it's not that that's a team the last two
years devoid of talent. How much of this is um
uh kind of kind of picks apart the argument that
he's an all time great because of the triple doubles
in the regular season with what he's doing the postseason.
(14:51):
I think with this series in particular, Look, there there's
always been people who criticized Westbrook in his game, and
if you can't you with the with the way he
dominates the game in that fashion, We've never seen anybody
do what he's doing with the triple doubles. But I think,
especially in this series, I think what people are recognizing that, uh,
(15:14):
just because you get triple doubles doesn't mean you're clearly
impact in the game, and that has beneficial to your team.
And uh, and I just take this series by day
when you're talking about leadership qualities and knowing how to
make the right decision at the right time in crucial
parts of the game. You know, triple doubles don't tell
(15:34):
that story. But if you're watching the game, if you
have observant game is doing all of that. He's controlling
the game. He knows when to pick his spots. Um.
And then you know, having these motions as well, you
know all those leadership in taligible there just having a
knock to hit the big shot, and knowing what to
take a great shot, knowing the past. I mean, the
way he threatened that needle with the past to kind
(15:56):
of close the game outlast, that was an amazing That
was an amazing has and for for people didn't see it,
Like I don't know how many you guys stayed up
late to watch that game. But late in the game,
Oklahoma City's trapping having in bounds. I think it was
a nine point game at that point in time, maybe
he was down to seven um and Damian Lillard caught
it and what would be called the Coffin corner. That
that's the corner right by the mid court line and sideline,
(16:21):
and he's double teamed, and he calmly threw a ball
like an alleyup almost to the right side of the rim.
But it wasn't like anybody was wide open. It was
that mo Hearkless who caught the ball. But I mean
he just kind of calmly threw it and he got
there and they laid the ball in and that was
that was the game. That was the game. Man. You
know his size, you know, he was amongst trees and
I think Westbrook was playing free safety back there and
(16:43):
that that was his assignment, and he kind of I
don't know how you take Westbrook out, but he got
Westbrook to bite in one direction and that's all the
space he needed and that was just a phenomenal pass
right there, and that pretty much closed it out. And
so that's what I'm talking about. I'm just talking about
little things like that, like making big plays and crucial
parts of the game and that that and all those
(17:05):
things that I've mentioned. Triple double doesn't tell the whole story,
but that does, and I think that's I think that's
what people are starting to realize. Okay, so what happens
in Oklahoma City if they lose a fourth game, I
think they gotta definitely look at retool of that roster.
Obviously they're they're they're investing in Westbrooks and Paul George
(17:28):
and rightfully so, but they gotta get shooters around if
when you got penetrating um guards like Paul George and
Westbrook around you in this day and age and this
Arab basketball, you need supreme shooters. They don't have that.
They have, you know, shooters at home, and that's pretty
much with every role player. They shoot good at home,
but you need you guys who are going to be
(17:49):
sharp shooters, you know, on the road and at home.
And then another thing is that they gotta really considered.
You know, it is Westbrook uh being so bald dominant?
Is that what's best for the team? You know? And
I know people would say, well, he's not bald numb
and Paul George does a lot. What I mean by
that is, does Westbrook have to bring the ball up
(18:10):
majority of time? Does his does his past directly has
to lead to an assist? You can't make this one
more even playing field where the ball is moving, you know,
is that going to be best for the Thunder organizations
moving forward? They really got to think all this because
you know, at certain points, I know, we get criticized
from Basha Westbrook and you know people point to the
(18:31):
triple double numbers. But you know, if this is three
first round exits, I mean, at some point, you know
you gotta start pointing the finger at the Thunder and
start pointing finger out Westbrook and say we didn't do
something differently because this surely clearly isn't working. I agree
with you, I just I don't. You're not gonna read
tool Russell Westbrook right like, he can't. You're not gonna like, okay,
(18:54):
now you're gonna play without the basketball. I mean they
I know that they brought in Dennis Shrewder to play
some point alongside him. Um, and I don't. You can't
trade him away right there already trade away to m VPS.
You can't trade away a third m v P. They're
just like stuck together. And I think the only thing
you can do is just go all shooting all the
(19:14):
time around him is probably the only way to do it.
You know, that's gonna be the best. That's gonna be
the best bet. You know, get get somebody, you know,
you need to shoot us around. You've got it. That's
the only way, Um, defense are gonna be able to
probably play Westbrook honest, and I think that's that bows
well in his Favorit when you got sharp shoots around,
you can't help as much. Uh. You know. I was
(19:34):
talking with Jim Jackson last Week's Gonna Speak for Yourself
with Locket Marcellus Doug and he pointed out that we
had the same, you know, conversation. He said, until Russ
gets a coach that he respects, Uh, somebody who has
the clasche who has the respect of his peers. Until
(19:55):
Russ gets a coach like that, he don't think Russ
will be able to take it to that next level.
And I I found that interesting. I don't know if
that's the case. I would I would leading towards, you know,
just we tooled and roster a little bit more, getting
the better supporting cast. But you know that's Jim Jackson
saying that about the coach. And obviously, you know Billy Dobby.
I think he has some questions that to ask them
(20:15):
for if they do false shootness first one as well,
because he has been living up to the market. No,
I would, I would tend to agree that, Like, look,
you'd like to get but who is the coach? Like
all of these imaginary coaches out there, Like, all right,
tell me who the coaches? Tell me the guy is.
Remember one, you're gonna go move to Oklahoma City. That
ain't easy, right, And you gotta get somebody who's gonna
(20:36):
move to Oklahoma City and buy in. And Russ had like,
there's all these different qualifications for what people have to have,
And you know, I generally tend to agree with you.
But We've also created this monster with this huge contract
where you can bring in whoever you want. Russ is
gonna be Russ because he's untradeable with that deal. So
(20:57):
you know, and based upon who he is and the
the name Reckon, he is that franchise. He's their franchise
player without any sort of question. Chris Haines joining us
on the Doug Gotlive Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Um,
should we make a big deal over the Sean Marks
suspension and uh the hullabaloo that that took place in
(21:18):
Brooklyn yesterday or that yesterday the day before in the
game day before. No. I look, I like it. I
like it. I think shot of Marxist going to back
Force team. You know, the brook the brook of Nes franchise,
feel like they've been getting holds this whole series, not
getting the right call. I feel like it beats got
Away with a couple of flagrant fouls. Um, I like it.
(21:39):
I like it. I like I like the Jared Dudley
fighting this going at those guys. And I think overall,
you know, most people agree that Philadelpinicily, you know, it
just has a better roster, and so you'd like to
see that fight in the young squad like that. And
that's why when you look at some of these teams
over the summer, that's going to have cap space and
and you look at the supporting cast that's those teams had.
(22:00):
That's you know, that's why the Brooklyn Nets at the
top of the board. But you know, I like it.
It's a good series. Okay. Uh, now we have a
real series in the East. It feels like we're gonna
have a real two real series in the East, right
eventually be Philly in Toronto and we're gonna have the
Bucks against the Celtics. Um, did we learn anything the
Celtics were pushing a couple of these games against the Pacers,
(22:21):
playing without Victor Oladipot. Did we learn anything about the
Celtics to make us think that they're still dominant over
the Bucks like they were last year? I don't know,
if you know what. Look, it's a start. It's definitely
a start in the right direction. I mean, they swept,
they got through it. You know, even though those some
close games, they persevere, they made players down the stretch,
(22:43):
uh to get a couple of those games. And so
that's good. I think their own course to be hitting
their stride at the right time. Now, I don't know
if that that stride translates to beat Milwaukee four straight times,
but I think it. I think it's set it up
to where we're gonna have a real inner, inner painting
series that has the potentially go to distance. I think
Kyrie has kind of found his menche and you know,
(23:05):
he's still often know his that phild goal percents hasn't
been you know what we're going to expect, but he's
making when he plays, he's diving for loose ball. They're
you know, getting them out in transition. So they're they're going,
they're they're going well. Like like I'm looking forward to it,
you know, Milwaukee, Boston to Rono, Philadelphia. I'm looking forward
to Eastern coffee. It's the first time I can say
(23:26):
that in a while, because I think for the for
for the last you know, the last few years, we
really didn't pay attention to the East until they got
to the finals, and so I the West, we're gonna
have Rockets, I mean, Rockets versus Clippers, event I mean
Rockets versus Warriors. Eventually, Uh, Clay finally got it going.
You know, there's always one that seems like there's always
(23:46):
one Clay game in every postseason playoff series with with
with the Warriors. Maybe lost in Clay's unbelievable performance is
that Durant didn't just have Friday Night where he had
thirty eighth, then he had thirty three. It feels like
they're starting to figure out getting back into that kind
of playoff warrior mode. Is that fair? Now? They're they're
(24:09):
getting there. They're getting there, and you know, nobody's And
that's the thing when you know, when de Marcus Cousins
went down, you know, people are making a big fuss
about it. You know, he's a big piece of their team,
and I thought he would have a really good, solid
series against Houston Marcuts, you know, being able to match
up with Capella. But you gotta remember this is gonna
State Wars. Team as a formula. As a formula's been successful,
(24:31):
you know without the Marcus in the case that the
Marcus is to make a miraculous uh come back at
some point in the finals, you know, I think that's
only gonna boat well be an extradition. But the Houston
Rockets go to State Series. Man, Look, I'm looking forward
to I'm still picking go to State because I don't
necessarily still like, it's still harder for me to believe
(24:54):
that this Houston team is better than what been a
team um that almost took on the State down last year.
The Rockets believe that. Peter the p J. Tucker Uh
he believed that as well. And so if you've got
the confidence that that that's that's half the battle right there.
So it should be good. Stug Gotlive. Sure you're on
Fox Sports Tradio. Steve kerr Uh said that going next
(25:17):
question is dangerous for the league, And I thought, and
I look, I don't know how you feel, Chris. I
tweeted this out and it's got you know, like a
couple of thousand retweets and people commenting on it. Might
take his and he was obviously talking about Russell Westbrook. UM,
but I think, look, Gregg Popovitch is just as much
to blame, you know, with not wanting to answer sideline
(25:38):
reporter questions. It's like, look, all these guys are actually
super bright, right from Paul George to Russell Westbrook to
Greg Papovitch. When they want to give good answers, they can,
and we're not asking that much of them, and there
is they they do need the media that the media
does promote all of the different parts of the NBA,
and it's more often than not good attention. I just
I wonder, though, this is one of those deals where
(26:00):
Adam Silver's, you know, he's such a player first commissioner
that at some point doesn't even need to step in
and go, hey, you guys are making yourselves look ridiculous
and instead of looking like really smart, uh superstars, you
you know, you make yourself look like jerks and it
doesn't reflect well upon our league. I'm wondering what your
take is A is a guy who knows this league
(26:22):
so well, knows these players so well, and covers it
so well for Yahoo. Well, let me say this, I'm
glad you brought up Pops because that's been on my
mind the last couple of days. Is that POPUVI has
you know, has done these antics, you know, forever, and
we applauded and plotted it, We've laughed at it, we've
we've we've we've rationalized it, said it's typical pop and
(26:46):
we've grown to, you know, just be accustomed to it.
And look, let me say this about Westbrook. I don't
agree with it. I don't like it. I don't like
it at all. The next question stuff, I think it
needs to be a professional. It's part of it's part
of his job, uh to address the media. And and
that reporter that calls this, I should say, Okay, see,
he's asking very good questions I think deserved, you know,
(27:08):
deserve and answers. But at the same time, if we're
not going to address if we had, if we never
addressed Pop, then what what's the argument to to address Westbrook?
I see a double standard in that. And like I said,
I think something should happen with west But why why
was there never anything? Uh? There was never any feedback.
(27:30):
There was never never even any major criticism of popa
bitch when he was doing it. You know, I remember,
I don't want to call a reporter out. I remember
tweeting something out a couple of years back up if
something Pop said, but it was it was a it
was a small he gave like a small two seconds
sound bite, and I tweeted something I can't remember what
(27:52):
it was critical and a reporter came at me, Well,
if you ask insightful questions, you know you he'll he'll
give you a good. You know there there's always based
point is there's always somebody you know ready to the
fin But you know, I just I want to see
it both ways. I don't want to see a STU look,
I look, I agree with you. I think that, and
and and even the pop defense pop thing about you
(28:12):
know in game question like look, man, they ask you
a couple of a up questions. Just answer the questions
to go about your job. It's part of the its
part of the job. It's not gonna kill you. And handling,
you know, I think it. I think there. I completely
agree with that that they're all related, and I think
it it makes the league less likable. And the crazy
part about it is all of these guys, people who
know Russ, people know pg who's now you know, kind
(28:35):
of get lumped into us because he went next question
on Barry Trammell, and people know Gregg Popovitch. All of
them would tell you like they're the world's greatest dudes,
but this is the only time we see them, and
so it casts a negative light on guys that are really,
really thoughtful and can give thoughtful responses exact. This is
the national stage that you know, this is this is
a big platform. So you know, I saw people saying, well,
(28:56):
Russe has been noringous all season here, that that is true,
But no, it was paying attention. And so now you
have all the casual fans and even people who aren't
fans of the NBA, now you got them watching and
tuning in, and this is what you're seeing. And so
it's not a good perception. It's not a good look.
Great stuff. Chris Haynes, senior NBA writer for y'ahoo Sports.
Check him out on Twitter at Chris B Haines, or

(29:18):
thanks so much for joining us. Thanks, let's get you
to Dan Buyers back. Hey, hey, Danny are Yeah, I'm
doing well. It's good to be back. Good to be
back in the daylights, you know, talking to you guys,
having some fun, hearing some familiar voices and seeing some
friendly faces. It's it's good to be I will say, like, listen,
it's very it's important that you give some context to it.
(29:41):
It's great to see the daylight like was was he dying?
Was he in a COMBA? Was filling in the last
You're doing The Smith Show with Mike Carmen, which which
airs at what time? That airs at ten o'clock Eastern time,
seventh Pacific Monday through Friday, right, which which is what
you're talking about. As far as the daylight were like,
like was he it was? Was Dan sick? Was he
(30:01):
going to die in daylight? It's going to be anywhere
right now? Kids? Anyway, go ahead, that's good to be back.
It's good to uh talk NBA hoops as you just
were with Chris Haynes Fox Pistons tonight their game four
eight o'clock Eastern time. Bucks are up three on the series,
looking for the sweep, as other Rockets, who faced the
Jazz in Salt Lake City ten thirty Eastern time tonight
for their game four six or center Jewel Embid wouldn't
(30:23):
say if you'll play in Game five against the Nets
tomorrow because of his sore knee. He's already predicted a win.
Net Center at Davis is questionable for the game because
of an ankle injury. Bills have made a move signing
former Janguars running back t J. Yeldon to a contract.
Well Redskins senior vice president Doug Williams says they aren't
out of the Realm of picking eight quarterback at fifteen
on the Realm of Possibilities going QB there despite acquiring
(30:44):
case Keenum this offseason. Finally, multiple reports the Blue Jays
are expected to call up minor league letter Mere Guerrero
Junior to the big leagues sometime in the next week.

buyers back from from the dead. He said, so great
to see the light, so great to be I'm kidding,
of course. Let's get to a game. This is game
(32:15):
time on the Doug Gottlieb Show. Alright, Doug, the game
today is big deal, little deal, no teal Alright, six
scenarios to talk about big deal, little deal or no deal.
That the Boston Celtics didn't just beat the Indiana Pacers,
(32:36):
but swept them in four games. I think it's a
little deal. I mean, let's be honest, the Pacers don't
have Victor Oladipo. The Celtics came into the season and
into the playoffs with hopes of winning an NBA championship,
sweeping them is not the hugest deal. Although it's not
a no deal thing, it's important that games were close
and maybe a little bit too close for comforts for
(32:57):
some Celtics fans. Remember they're playing without Marcus Smarter Swell
so like their full strength. But I don't think it's
the biggest deal on Earth, Alright, big deal, little deal
or no deal. Also an NBA Playoffs related topic that
only one NBA Playoff first round series is a two
to tie through four games. Heck, even Bucks and Pistons
and Rockets and Jazz wouldn't be too too if it
(33:19):
went to five, but just one to to tie through
the first four games? Is that a big deal, little
deal or no deal? I think it's a no deal.
I mean, in all candor, like, we don't really want
an upset in this series. If we don't get upsets
in this series, you have Rockets Warriors, you have Celtics Bocks,
you have Raptors versus Sixers, and then you know, I
(33:42):
guess you have what Nuggets and Blazers potentially, like those
are the best possible stereos. I don't I don't actually
think you want upsets? Do you want the series? To
be a little bit more contentious and tighter, I guess,
but we knew who the top four teams in the
East were. They are in fact the top four teams
in the East, and we had a pretty good since
in the West, and the better team's winning just makes
(34:03):
for a better series as we go forward. Yeah, I
think it's pretty representative of what we saw in the
regular season. As you said, big deal, little deal or
no deal that the NBA's last two minute report from
Saturday's game forward between the Nets and Sixers revealed that
referees should have called the foul on Sixers forward to
Bias Harris on a player where Nets center Jared Allen
turned the ball over in the final seconds with the
(34:25):
Nets down to report. That's a big that's a big deal, right,
should have been a foul there? Two point game, that's
a big deal. What about that possession? I mean this,
Jared Allen should even know that that was The other
thing is like we're losing sight of the fact that
D'Angelo Russell is the best player and he gets a switch,
(34:46):
he got what he wanted and he got rid of
the ball too quickly, So um, sure there should have
been a foul called there, I guess, but as they
call k y B in basketball, no your boys. Instead,
he forced that basketball in to a teammate who that's
not and Jared Allen catches in dunks and blockshots of
the rims. That's the only time he should get the
ball when you keep catching dunk, you know on offense.
(35:07):
Big deal, a little deal or no deal? That Former
Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb so the Eagles should look
for another quarterback if Carson Wentz doesn't make it past
the second round in the next two seasons. Made these
comments in an interview with CBS Sports Radio. Is that
a big deal, little deal or no deal? That's a
no deal next two seasons? Yeah, next two seasons because
(35:30):
of his injury history, saying that maybe they should move on.
Lane Johnson came back responding saying, no, wonder why nobody
likes you when you come back here, nobody respects you.
To Donovan McNab. McNabb tried to clarify today what he
was talking about. But yeah, yeah, I don't. I don't,
I don't. I don't think Dono mcnabbs, I don't really understand.
(35:54):
You know, it's like injury history. He got hurt once, right,
he had some other injury a lot he's been in
in college. He had the wrist injury, of the hand injury,
then there was the the leg injury last year toward
l a year ago, and came back and probably came
back a little bit too early taking over obviously. I
(36:16):
don't I don't know. I mean, they're all in on
him over the next two years. He doesn't get past
the second round, Like, I don't even think that matters.
Is he healthy, does he play? Does he play well?
If not? Yeah, I mean in two years maybe, I
just it's kind of an out of left field comment.
I will I will say this in defense of Donovan
McNabb if it was any other team but the Eagles,
Like if you were like that quarterback situation was that way,
(36:40):
I think it's looked at differently. Like let's say Steve
Young said that about Carson Wentz. Okay, Steve Young never
played for the Eagles. There's nothing tied there. Maybe it's
a former quarterback talking about their position, but I think
the Eagles tie is what makes it very interesting. Who
any of the other thirty one teams he was taking about.
(37:02):
I mean, I don't know. It's it's kind of out
of left field. Like you you talk to these NFL guys,
You're like, no, I really like Carson Wentz, Like did
he play well last year? Like hey, but all right,
you know it's coming a year, came came back a
little early off a c L. No one is no
one I know in the NFL is bailing on Carson
Wentz if they were in the Eagles position. Big deal,
little deal or no deal that Peyton Manning is not
(37:22):
going to take the Monday night football gig on ESPN.
UM feels like a relatively little deal that could lead
to a big deal. Here's what I mean. You want broadcast,
you want broadcasting news. Obviously the pay Manning is everybody's
white whale. They want to have him in the booth.
And you know who could he be better than Tony
(37:44):
Romo at telling us what's going to happen and why
it happened when it does happen. And also he's super
entertaining and just a great dude. Um. But what it
sets up is ESPN is not just trying to get
a new deal with Monday Night Football. They're trying to
get more playoff games and maybe a Super Bowl for ABC,
and they're gonna have to overspend to get somebody who's
(38:06):
not named paid Manning and Tony Romo reportedly wants ten
million dollars from CBS, and CBS is notoriously, um, let's
just go frugal at times with their money. I don't
think they're not cheap, but I would say because they
spend on Jim Nance and some other guys and they
want to give him a bunch of money. But but
they supposed it. Asking price for reports is ten million dollars. Uh,
(38:27):
this sets up a bitty war for Tony Tony Romo.
That that's what it sets up. That'll be a really
big deal, big deal, a little deal or no deal.
That Jim Nance revealed the Sports Business Journal that their
quote wasn't a chance in the world end quote. He
was going to say anything after the final drop for
Tiger Woods at last week's Masters. In fact, two minutes
and forty seconds of just silence and the sounds of
(38:47):
Augusta after Matt said quote. Matt said quote the return
to glory? End quote? Is that a big deal? A
little dealer? We did actually say something, by the way, Yeah,
he got his one liner and then stepped aside, turn
to glory. Do you know what that's called when you
don't say anything? What's that? Do you know it's called
in a broadcast, you don't say anything and let the
nats sound. No, usually we call it dead air here
(39:08):
on Rade. Now it's not not that air. And it's
not that air when you let the natural sound play out.
And and you you you called laying out, laying out
and letting it breathe, letting a breathe, and John Robos
did not let it breathe. He did not let it breathe.
You know, some guys they choke the living life out
(39:30):
of it because they're trying to comment on it, and
instead you're supposed to let it breathe. Now, there's a
there is a time in which you want to get
in and give context to it. Um. I think the
best mix of letting it breathe and putting context to
it is if you watch Kirk Gibson's home run and
one was called by Vince Scully. Vince Scully was on
(39:52):
TV right and Jack buck was on radio or do
I have it? I have it the opposite way. I
think that's how it was right, uh and as good
as Jack Bucks call was incredible, but again it's different
on radio than it is on TV. And Jack Bucks,
I don't believe what I just saw. I don't believe
what I just saw. That was a great call. Um.
(40:13):
Vince Kelly's was better because he let it breathe as
the as the balls hit out, he said nothing as
Kirk Gibson makes his way all the way around the basis,
and then he said, in a year which has been
so improbable, the impossible just happened. But he let it breathe.
At first, we're gonna choke the life out of it.
(40:33):
Ut coming next. Dwayne Haskins joins us in the show.
Is he worried about rumors that his draft stock is falling?

the game, put their experience into play. At Farmers dot com,
we got a great show for you. We will discuss
big commitment in college. Hoop uh. We'll get to that upcoming.
(41:21):
Where did Cassius Stanley go? What a great name, right, Like,
if your name is Cassius Stanley, you better be able
to go. Kid can play from a school called Sierra
Canyon in southern California, not that far from where we
broadcast from in Los Angeles. Anyway, he just committed. We'll
tell you where he's going and what that means that upcoming.
We also got some NBA stuff to talk about. Russell
(41:42):
Westbrook and the Oklahoma City Thunder continue to struggle as
the the dynamic duo. C J McCullum not getting probably
the love he deserves because Damian Lillard has been so
good and so consistent. But McCullum Lillard, they've been getting
w as they are three and one against the Oklahoma
City Thunder. We'll talk about the ramifications of that. Plus
(42:04):
the Celtics sweeping the Pacers, what if anything that means.
We get a lot to get to. But the NFL
Draft is this Thursday, and we do have a couple
of guests over the next two hours that they're gonna
have their names called early and they're gonna be discussed often.
The first is the Big Ten Player of the Year,
Ohio State quarterback Dwayne Haskins, through fifty touchdown passes this year.
(42:26):
He joins the show on behalf of Old Spices new
all new fresher collection featuring five new body washes and
real benefits forged by real ingredients like moisturization and exfoliation
because Old Spice knows men have skin too. It's available
at Walmart. Thanks for making this part of your day, Dwayne.
You know you're really busy. What what's it like to
(42:47):
go through this process? You know you've had your name
bandied about as a top prospect and some believe that
you're you might be falling in these mock drafts. What's
it like from your perspective? I could care less, man.
Biggestly I could do is worry about v and of
course those things you coached my attention. I don't have
don't have cable everything that I want to see a
(43:11):
social media something that I allowed to see the biggest
thing I could do is is to be able to
just be mentally and physically strong, and you're ready for
this season and you're ready for every year to do
all I can to be prepared for the season. So,
you know, it's been it's been a law of process.
Was ready to get back to work. Your your your
former head coach Urban Meyer went on to Fox Sports
(43:32):
Radio last week and he's like, look, he's incredible. He
said nothing but good things. He did say that, look,
you've only started for a year, and if it was
up to him, you'd go somewhere you could learn from
a veteran. What's your When you hear that, what's your?
What's what? What goes through your mind? Yeah? Definitely for me,
(43:53):
just being able to learn for somebody be definitely something
that'll be helped me in my career. I learned from
j T o House State and that's somebody that, uh,
you know, I learned a great deal from And uh,
you know, the biggest thing for me is is whatever
team picksby I gotta be ready, whether that's year one,
year two, year three, or whatever the case may be.
I have to do what I do do for myself
and for my teammates. So whoever team picksby, they're gonna
(44:15):
get your hard work and quarterback and you guy's gonna
lead the team. And uh, I know the biggest sailor. Dude.
Just just be ready for the moment. All right. There
was video, of course, of you during the college football season,
back when you were a kid, saying I'm gonna be
quarterback at Ohio State. You told us last time you
joined us that there was video that existed of you
and it was like foreshadowing of who you who you
(44:37):
knew you would play for in the pros. When will
we see that video? Well, it all depends on where
I go to. So there's more than one video of
saying that. So we'll see what happens. And you know, uh,
they're looking forward to hear my name called on Thursday,
and hopefully, you know my my fortune telling skills are
still in tact. So we'll see what happened. Okay, does
(44:57):
you what what colors does your suit have? And does
give away any sort of thought as to where you
might be going. I'm not going to the draft, so
I'll be boldly comfortably in some set of shoes and
a T shirt, and I will be wearing a suit.
But you know the biggest thing for me is just
to be comfortable and have fun and enjoy this moment.
You only get drafted once, and you know, I wish
(45:19):
I couldn't foreshadow where I'm going because I don't know
where I'm going. So you know, the biggest thing I
can do is just have my hats ready for every
team could pick me and be excited. Um okay, So
what are you gonna do? Like you got to Like,
I just can't imagine the nervous energy you're gonna have
on Thursday, you know, because and and like you know,
you're gonna have the whole day and then they'll be
(45:40):
TV cameras and you're supposed to like, look, you're gonna
be with family and friends and you're not gonna go
and do all that stuff. But there's still this whole
build up to it. Have you planned out your day
on Thursday? Yeah, I'm gonna get a haircut. Um okay, wait,
hold on, hold, let's let's go through this. Let's go
who cut your hair? Um? It's kind of Anton. He
cuts his equal, Elliotts here and Braxton Miller and all
(46:03):
those guys, So he said, are you getting into college. Okay,
So Anton is Anton does he have Is he gonna
have special instructions or is it gonna be kind of
the standard Dwayne Haskins look standard Dwayne asks cut, make
sure it keeps to clean, don't don't scratch my head up,
and you know, make sure my hair looks straight. But
you know, I get a hair cut, and then after that,
I think we're to spend some time with my family.
(46:26):
And my sister wants to get her first tattoo, so
I'm gonna take her to go and do that, don't
spend some time with her and uh, you know, Actually
what I'm more excited for it to the draft is
to see Avengers. So I want to go see Avengers
pretty end game one thirty in the morning after the draft.
So I'm more excited actually to see that than to
the actual draft night. Let's talk Avengers endgame. Here's the problem.
(46:48):
The last Avengers, like a spoiler alert, half of all
the half of everybody you know died like right, So
the expectations like they can't kill off Black Panther that quick,
can they? Man? I honestly think they're gonna come back.
How they're gonna come back. I don't know, but I
hope they killed than know. So that's I'm definitely excited
to see what happens with that and see how that
how that works out, because definitely they gotta they gotta
(47:11):
get the stones back. Okay, so you get you get drafted,
You're going to the movies? What does Dwayne haskins and like, look,
you you know you're you're in the best shape of
your life. You're ready. But this is a cheap day.
This is a celebration day. You go up to the
counter one third in the morning, what are you going
to get? You getting popcorn? Aren't you? I thought a
big popcorn guy. Man, you ever had those? Did little
(47:32):
ice cream and live cream things? Talk about? I'll probably
get those in Uh. I might get a popcorn just
just just because probably has some kettle to it, maybe
something like that. I don't know, But not to drink
that ice cream. What to drink? Yeah, I will go
with the slurpe, man, But I gotta I gotta watch
the figure, So I probably just go with the water
(47:55):
bottle or something. Hold on, hold on, Dwayne, how many
days in your life are you going to be drafted
in the NFL? How many how many? How many days
in your life will you be drafting in the NFL?
This one? Okay, so that's a story day, my friend.
I don't I don't know. I don't know the theater
you're going to, Like, look, there's some high dollar theaters
where you can go and you can have an alcoholic beverage. Right,
(48:16):
you go to a din in theater, so I'll probably
ordered for sure, Yeah, vanilla chocolate or are you gonna
go like cookies and cream? MoMA? And now we're talking,
you're you're going all ice creamed out like this is.
You're going DIBs and cookies and cream. That's good. I
would say, I think you gotta go popcorn. You like
(48:36):
some hot popcorn? I like, But if you don't have
a ho popcorn guy, I can't make you into a
popcorn guy, right, I can't play poor. My dad loves popcorn,
so we're gonna eat some. It's not gonna be the
first thing that I ordered, but it would be definitely
on the video. Um to share this with your dad, right, like,
because it's one of the things that that I'm big on.
You know, my dad was a big part of my
(48:56):
athletic career. What's what's that? What's that like to with
with your family? It's gonna be great to be able
to share with my family and my parents and me
and my dad had a lot of long card drives
out of the game, but they were great and some
days of the word. So do this to be able
to to have that moment with them and be able
to to sace he's there, desponsible to face his probably
(49:17):
tears of joy as well. And you know, I'm just
excited to be be a part of the NFL. It's
been a dream come true for me, and I'm looking
forward to being a part of a great franchise and
with a whole bunch of Super Bowls. Last thing, most
important thing, what's the tattoo your sister is gonna get? Okay,
so she's gonna get our Grandma Joyce tattooed on there.
It's our mom and my dad's Mohammed and just she
(49:38):
wanted to get that tattooed on it because she wanted
to make sure that she's always there. And my dad
always says that my sister and minds her of her
his mom very much a lot. So to be able
to do that for my dad though he will enjoy
that very much. It sounds like a pretty special family.
Hey man, listen, we wish you nothing but the best.
(49:59):
Are thanks to Old Spice for having you on good
Luck on Thursday, and maybe more than anything, next time
we talked to you, you'll be a member of the
NFL and you can give us a complete review of
Avengers fair enough. You know what's interesting is, uh, Ramos,
I haven't seen all the Marvel movies, but I don't
know if you remember when Avengers was out. I actually
(50:22):
this is in the fall. I took my son and
one of his buddy to see it. It was it
was pretty violent. Uh you know, there's not blood because
because of how they do the Avengers movie whatever, but
there's a lot of death in And did you see
the last Avengers? I did. In fact, actually I took
Lucas to see Captain Marvel this past weekend to kind
of totally catch up before Endgame comes out this Friday.
(50:44):
How is Captain Marvel? It was good, It was good.
It was it was interesting, but it wasn't the great movie.
But it was a very good movie. Okay, Um, yeah,
the the the the issue I have with I guess
the good news about the Avengers thing is that I
think everybody believes, if you've seen it, that those that
(51:04):
kind of disappeared all at some point somebody's gonna reappear, right,
But I you know, I just struggle with you, like, wait,
are you dead? You're dead? Because even in Star Wars,
when you're dead, you're a ghost, but you can't come
back to life. Apparently an Avengers you can die and
then you can come back, and they just doesn't matter.
There's a lot of flux Doug in the Adventures world, right,
(51:24):
a lot of time continuum stuff. Yeah, all right, coming
up next, we'll keep it with the NFL Draft. Chris
Spielman joins the show. What does he think of Dwayne
Haskins and his ability to lead an NFL team? Plus,
I'm gonna asked Hi about Kyler Murray, Like, look, Calamari's
only five ten, Calamari has only really started one year
in college football like Dwayne Haskins. Cayla Murray is not
(51:46):
nearly as kind of verbally profound. Doesn't seem like he
has the verbal leadership skills of a Dwayne Haskins, Like
would he take him number one? Overall? I'll ask Chris Spielman.
He joins us next. Sure to catch live editions of

here on Fox Sports Radio. Chris Bielman is going to
be part of we Gotta We Got a great show
for you. Up Coming this week, It's the NFL Draft
covered by Fox Sports Radio and Chris Bielman will be
(52:52):
alongside with Joe Clatten, j Glazer. Rob Stone will host
Thursday Night covering the entire first round of the NFL Draft,
starting at eight Eastern time. And Chris, thanks so much
for making this part of your day. We just had
Dwayne Haskins on. You've seen him a ton. What's what
are your thoughts on the type of pro Dwayne Haskins
will be. I think it'd be a really good pro, uh, Doug.
(53:14):
One thing that I tried to ye weight watching quarterbacks. Now,
you know the guys that can make throws that are
off balanced, where everything doesn't have to be instinct, their
feet and everything don't have to be instinc yet they're
still accurate with the football. I think Dwayne has that ability. Now.
The one thing against Dwayne as he's played so little
football as a starter, but his ceiling is high and uh,
(53:39):
you know, I definitely think that he is a starter
in the league. I'm not gonna say he's gonna start
next year, but I do think potential. I think he
has a tremendous upside. His stack is his stock is
kind of fluctuated, right. There are people who thought the
Giants would take him, the people that think that he'll
be sitting for a while. Like you know, Drew Lock,
(53:59):
some people will love because he too, he's maybe a
little bit more athletic obviously, Kyler Murray people believe is
some some most have ranked above Dwayne Haskins, like in
the lineage, in the litany of quarterbacks that are out there,
how do you see him? Well, the other one is
Daniel Jones, right, because we've read this week that he's
the second coming up Peyton Manning, but a better athlete
(54:22):
than Peyton Manning. So, I mean, all the stuff we hear,
I think it's all bs right now, especially you know,
four days before the draft, and I think it's just
who you like and what you want. I mean, Kyler
Murray fits certain offenses. Kyler Murray does not fit other offenses.
I mean, you know, one of the reasons I think
(54:42):
why Kyler Murray made that decision to come out and
play football is because Cliff Kingsbury made the comment that
if you were an NFL coach, you'd have Kyler Murray
as his starting quarterback. And I'm not saying, you know,
Kyler is not a runaround guy. If you look at
Cliff's offense to texts Techre and with Mahomes and those guys,
you know, Kyler can deliver deliver the football from the pocket,
(55:05):
but he does bring that athletic movement involved something that
maybe Dwayne doesn't bring as much. So it depends on
philosophically what you want out of that position where you
are now, how soon could this guy get on the field.
And you know, for example, with the Giants, I mean,
how much long are they gonna stick with Eli Manning.
So comes down to in my opinion, between those three
(55:28):
would be Haskins, Lock and Daniel Jones. Let's talk about
calabary Um. I know what I know, Cliff Kingsbury said,
although it should be pointed out that he was also
preparing for Texas Tech for Oklahoma at the time. Nonetheless,
he hasn't kind of backed off those statements. He did
coach in Texas and this is the most decorated high
school quarterback maybe every other state of Texas. What's your opinion? Right? Like,
(55:52):
he's he's he is five ten, he does like to
run a lot, he can throw it. He's also kind
of saw spoken. There's a little Alonzo ball to his dad,
LaVar Ball, Like, give me, give me your opinion on
Cala Murray. I certainly like him. I do think that
you know, he is very capable and accurate with the
football from the pocket, and I think there's a certainly
(56:14):
room for improvement. He's an extreme competitor. We know what
kind of athlete he is. And I don't think you
know everybody, uh once. You think you know, back a
few years ago or back ten years ago, you know,
if your quarterback wasn't a legitimate six three, you were
considered a second rounder. And I think back at Drew
(56:35):
Brees now the highest paid football player in the NFL,
it's Russell Wilson. And and you know, Russell's lucky to
be five ten on a good day. Russell's five ten.
When he wakes up in the morning, Russell's five ten.
And I'm not saying that Kyler's Russell Wilson yet, but
I do think that there's that ability there and potentially
could be there. So I think the size of these
(56:56):
quarterbacks because of the success of guys like Drew and Russell,
and even with case keenum a year ago, with the Vikings,
and I don't think everybody gets caught up in that
as much as they used to. We're gonna have on
a bunch of these defensive lineman. There's a litany um,
right and and Quinton Williams is going to join us
later on the show, and he's seen as a hybrid guy,
(57:18):
like a two thousand nineteen guy. What is a two
defensive lineman? I know defensive ends look like the defensive lineman.
What what makes him different than previous guys who have
been drafted that position? So to me, when I talked
to a lot of guys like this and just doing
games over the years, and when you have the ability
to be a pass rusher from inside and and be
(57:42):
an effective pass rusher for inside, because if you command
double teams on third downs, if you're an inside pass rusher,
that leaves your speed guys and what one on one
battles on the outside, right, or it forces everybody to
max protect because you want to double an inside guy
and you want to double an outside guy. All those
guys that you're you're talking about, even the Simmons kids
(58:03):
from Mississippi State right everybody, he's just jumping off the board.
And because of his athletic ability. You got the two
kids from Clemson, Uh, the kid from Notre Dame, Hillary
is coming up on the board because I get the
shoulder checked out on the physical. When you have the
ability to rush and be an effective pass rusher and
command attention and command double teams on the inside. That's
(58:25):
what my idea of a A two thousand in nineteen
inside defensive tackle, slash one technique, through technique, whatever you
wanna call him. If you have that ability, and then
that increases your value in my opinion. What's your take
on Bosa good Man? I mean, I know we only
had what three games this year, and I remember talking
(58:47):
about Joey Right and some people in San Diego at
the time. Now the l A Chargers, of course, but
San Diego didn't like to pick. What makes him so good, Doug?
If if you watch film and and if you look
at pass rushers and his brothers the same way, their
hand and feet, their hand and feet are are so
good and working in coordination their body lean. Nobody ever
(59:11):
gets into their body because of their great hand placement.
They always play with the forward lean. They play with
great balance, they have great movement, uh, and they're very
efficient in their movements. So I think, I don't know
if you have Nick. I think he was in the
four sevens low four seven forty times, but because of
his efficiency in his movement, he plays a lot faster
(59:32):
than he is. I think he's really really good. There's
a lot of talented edge guys out there though, also
the Josh Allen Kidd from Kentucky, you're the sweat kid
from Mississippi State that bust of the four four one
on them at the combine. You know, it's just it's
amazing that the athletes that they're getting on the outside.
DK Metcalf is a guy who's just obviously a freak athlete. Um,
(59:55):
there's some concern about you know, one he had the
neck injury and then to also kind the looseness of
his hips. Here's a guy though that that checks every
combine box that you could possibly have. When you watch
film of DK Metcalf, what do you how do you
think he translates to the pros? Well, I'm certainly in
the admirer of his Uh. The one thing that would
be of concern to me is why did he only
(01:00:18):
average you know, three point six yards or whatever it
was per catch? Right? I mean that's a concern, right,
if I got this athlete that's a big guy, all right,
why is he only average in this amount of yartists
per catch? And then what ares run after catch yardage
type of numbers? So that would be a concern of mine.
I think that you'll have to. I got all these
(01:00:40):
names running through my head. I think that the premier guy,
and I think a lot of people are going to
jump up on the kid from Oklahoma. Is that Marquis
Mark's Brown? Hollywood Brown? Yeah, Mark, Keith Brown, thank you. Uh.
I think that that's the guy that probably is the
premier wide receiver right now for me. And I had
all the athletic ability of DK Metcalf and I hope
(01:01:02):
he does great. But I'm a big production guy. I mean,
the numbers are all great. You need those numbers, but
I want numbers with production. Uh. And production will always
trump numbers with me, probably because I was that guy
who's hopefully my production trump my numbers, which wasn't hard
to do, by the way. S Doug Gallup show, you're
on Fox Sports, is there anybody who you do? You
(01:01:23):
look at and you're like, man, I'm here a lot
of hype and I don't see it. Uh. Well, I'm
going back through the numbers and the production thing, right,
And that Rashawn Garry from Michigan nine sacks and three
and a half years. So, but the numbers are great.
But I know he had some injury issues last year,
but I don't see the production that I would need
(01:01:45):
to see. Now. Hopefully that changes when he gets to
the NFL and he plays and and it's off the charts.
I hope that's the case for the kid. But if
I'm drafting him, I'm certainly concerned about the lack of
numbers as far as TfL sackle for Law and the
number of sacks uh that he produced over his period
of time at Michigan. Yeah, it's it's it's gonna be
(01:02:08):
a fascinating draft. I think in the quarterbacks and then
and then I'll tell you what like offensive lineman. To me,
it's fascinating because you know, you look at what you
need this day and age in the NFL, and obviously
there's a depth of defensive lineman. But we saw you
last year. Think about how much the Colts changed changed
based simply by drafting one offensive lineman. You know, I
(01:02:31):
think offensive line is going to be an interesting part
of this draft, is it not. Yeah, I think it's
a deep offensive line draft. Now I'm not saying there's
you know, ten or or twelve first round, there is
there is certainly no Quentin Nelson in there, who was
you know, had dominant year, right the guard from that
you just mentioned the Colts from Notre Dame and physical
(01:02:52):
guy was able to I think raises the level of
ability for all those guys up front, for the Colts
to play by. I don't think there's uh a ton
of first rounders. I do think there's uh, like everybody's
always looking for tackles because of the difficulty of position
to play, to play that position as far as blocking
all those speed guys were talking about. But I do
(01:03:13):
think there's a lot of them. I think they'll probably uh,
you'll see a lot of them start to go Day two, man,
I mean they'll fly off the board. And then we
haven't even talked running backs, right like I imagine imagine
when you played or imagine obviously even go back to
last year obviously um in that you know we had
we had a running back over with the second overall
(01:03:35):
pick in uh in the draft. What do you what
do you think about the running backs in this class? Yeah,
I mean, I mean I don't see any guys that
are are worthy of of talking first round running backs, uh.
And I do think because of the nature of position
like most teams probably have what two or three of
(01:03:57):
those guys and you look at there's always a one,
A one, b U. The nature of the position and
the founding that they say, I just unless they are
special in say Kwon Barkley, what's special? I just I
just don't see taking a guy in the first round
unless they are, say Kwon Barkley type of player. Um,
(01:04:17):
there's two. There's a couple of tight ends at IOWA
and UM. You know some people believe that just slide up.
If you're the Patriots and you draft one, you know,
top five, top seven in the draft. When you watch
those guys on tape, what do you think? Well, I
think with with p. J. Augerson, what he is is
(01:04:37):
he's a complete guy. Right you can play him and
you want to talk about ceiling and edge or handling
a big defensive end and also being able to stretch
the field. Is I think he's another guy that plays
faster than his time. I think he was the full
seven guy. But as far as a complete tight end,
and that's the guy that you would want to go
with my opinion. Now, if you want a guy like
(01:04:59):
an in Ingram safe from the Giants, the clearest athlete
and the guy that can play outside and you get
a mismatch with safeties or linebackers, that would be no offense.
But I like to the PJ because I think he's
a complete guy and I can do a lot of
things that create double teams. He's he's devastating as a
run blocker. I mean, he's really good as a run blocker.
(01:05:21):
I think that's why I think bil Brant the mock
draft that I read and had, I think Bill had
him going at six, so though I know the Lions
needed tight end also at seven or eight or somewhere
around there. So but there's just two different types of players. Yeah,
completely different type of players. It does feel like, you know,
there's a distinct difference. And if you have the ability
(01:05:41):
to to block, it makes you, um, you know, you're
not gonna be what Gronk was, but it gives you
so much more usage, so much more versatility. And so
many of these guys are just kind of glorified wide
receivers who happen to be bigger, whereas uh, you know,
Auxman doesn't does not Hackerson does not seem to be
that guy. Can we doar your coverage with Glazer and
Stone this Thursday. Chris, you doing outstanding job. Appreciate you
(01:06:04):
popping out with this anytime. Do Thanks for having me
have a great day you too. That's Chris Spielman. Let's
get you to Dan Buyer find out what else going
on the world of sports Dan when he got well.
The NBA has handed down some fines for Jared Dudley
and Jimmy Butler for their roles in the Freakas you
could say. On Saturday at Game four, Dudley find twenty
five thousand dollars for escalating the on court incident in
(01:06:24):
Game four. Butler will same cause for escalating that on
court incident that Dudley escalated. He gets a fifteen thousand
dollar fine. Nets and Sixers will go at it in
game five Tuesday. Still don't know if Joel Embiad will
play in that game because of his sore knee. Net
Center at Davis questionable for the game because of an
ankle injury. Bucks and Pistons tonight eight o'clock Eastern time,
(01:06:45):
and Game four Milwaukee goes for the sweep. Rockets try
to sweep the Jazz in Salt Lake at ten thirty
Eastern tonight in their game four in the Western Conference.
Hawks head coach Lloyd Pierce is going to serve as
an assistant to Gregg pop a Bitch for the USA
mask A Ball team. Redskins senior VP Doug Williams says
they aren't. It's not out of the realm of possibility.
They would take a quarterback overall in the draft coming
(01:07:08):
up on Thursday. Despite acquiring case Keenum this offseason, Bill's
has had former Jaguars running back t J Yelled into
a contract Yankee stold picture Geo Gonzalez he wasn't gonna
make the five man roster, so he opted out of
his minor league deal and now we'll become a free agent.
Will be back to the Doug Gottlieb Show in ten seconds.
But first to word from farmers. At Farmers Insurance, we
know every windshield collision has a unique sound. Beetle bird, poop, drone,

seen it, covered it, dr Farmers. We are farmers under

of the top defensive lineman this year's You after s
heard Chris Spielman talk about him. He joins us year
on the Doug Gottlip Show on Fox Sports Trader. Thanks
to folks at Hunda, Hyundai has documented Quinton's road to
(01:07:56):
the NFL and they're Rolling with Rookies content series letting
fans get a close to look at Quentin's story. You
can check out Quentin's Rolling with Rookies video online and
the Hyundai's YouTube page and social media channels. Um quinnin
when when they look at the Hyundai story or the
story that Hunday is documented, what do you think the
most interesting parts gonna be? I think day Uh did
(01:08:19):
a great captree all these parts, all the parts in
my life that really means un to me. Within my sister,
our relationship, indeed that we uh each other doing each
other become and I feel like but the most important
part was uh my family, UM me and my suit relationship.
Just a thing that they did for me. It was
(01:08:40):
very amazing, very great thing to capture. Um. Yeah, some
of your life story. To those of us who watch
you played Alabama, we know about the tragic passing off
your mom when you were were were thirteen years old.
Uh do the breast cancer? How did that shape you.
How did that? How do that motivate you become who
you are? They shame me to be uh the person
(01:09:03):
I am today? I said, I say, need to be
display Uh never give up. And this thing she left
with me at the characteristic that she left me with
was this amazing And I'm just blessed to even have
her for that little bit of time I had her,
So I know she probabed me right now, So what
was her for for? People don't know? What was her
last request? To take care of my family, to make
(01:09:25):
sure I be a leader bodys I'm from makeshre I
be a leader all around the board, Uh with my family.
So that's a lastly creat Well, I mean obviously obviously
obviously you've done that. Um is there is there a
team that you feel like you fit best with? This one?
You You're looking up there going like this just this
just feels right? Oh not too much. I feel like
I fit in the in this scheme when we have
(01:09:46):
been a versatile hybrid defense alignment, interior these line I am.
I can play all the positions I played. Stinks through
the zero so it is not really a place so
I can't play at the elite level. Um, so it
don't matter what team I go to be the I'm
gonna great teammate. I'm gonna pernison honestly of mothers deal.
So Quinn and Williams joining us in the Doug Otlip
(01:10:06):
Show here on Fox Sports Radio. Have you decided what
you're what you're gonna do? Draft Day? Right? Like you're
gonna wake up? There's me so much nervous energy, like
do you have a plan, You're gonna go work out?
Are you gonna go watch a movie? What? What? What's
your what's your plan? Draft Day? Now? I'm really not nervous,
just because I'm blessed and I know that whatever team
they picked me, I'm gonna be a great player for
(01:10:26):
that team. So if I'm not really nervous, Um, I'm
not really nerved, don't rehelp. And they're just very excited.
They're very blessed to be in this predicted I am
now just to be I thought about this. I was
six years old in my bed. Well, Mom told me
to go to sleep. I'm still thinking about, uh, the
draft when I get drafted. What don't we doing? I
get drafted? So like years later, I'll bean that saite predictament.
(01:10:48):
It's all coming true. So I'm really I'm really excited,
never at all. Okay. So when you when you pictured
it like all the things you're gonna do. What's the
first thing you're gonna do when you get drafted? Man? Uh,
first thing I'm doing, like you're drafted, it's probably held
my grandma. What's up for? What's the best part about
your grand When when people say tell me about your grandma? What? What? How?
(01:11:08):
What do you tell them a better she's That's amazing. Man.
There's been at me since day one when my mom
was here. My mom was not hearing. Just when my
mom left, that connection that me and my mom had
went straight to my grandma and she like still in
this spot. Quentin and Williams joining us in the Dug
Outlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio. When people say
you're the next generation of defensive tackle, is it because
(01:11:29):
you can play multiple positions? That is that the idea? No?
I think the idea is getting to the parisher man.
There's like big deeper and tackles. Uh, it's just a
thing that going around. Uh, thing that's been transitioning all
of it. That these are getting more faster and more
slimmer and more leaner, and uh not just gap takers,
not just run stoppers anymore, because they've been great run
(01:11:52):
stoppers in the past, like Ben Willford Hoagunda and a
different load of guys who can just stop running and
be gaps like space eaters. But now it's involved that
the uh some kings not even running the ball, like
the game when the Chiefs played somebody they threw the
ball over fifth or sometimes so any guys who can
(01:12:12):
uh push the pocket, get out of the quarterback, because
you've got a lot of great ears rushes in the
NF there and a lot of great avers got the quarterback.
But if the quarterback you step up and just thought
about anybody who you want to great airwards is not
not great anymore without great interiority line. So I feel
like Aaron Donald said the standard, and different people like
(01:12:33):
Jerald McCoy Fletcher called all the guys said the standard,
or pushing the pocket and getting out of the quarterback
and being more dominant in the and get out of
the quarterback. The quickest way to get to the quarterback
through a straight line, and he's a tomp is straight
in front of the quarterback. So if you push the
pack and get out of the quarterback right there and
the Prinson right there, it messed up a whole line.
Just putting press on the mess up his passing through,
(01:12:54):
mess up the passing lane, and just get your hands up.
He gotta fit the ball is smaller windows that he
wanted to throwing in. So I think that's why uh
bore having becoming more evolve it right now and get
more slimmer and more faster and more quicker. And also
we're stopping one and be bigger, stronger. Quinnon Williams joining
us in the dug Otlip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:13:15):
Everybody people ask about the questions you're asked. I don't
know if anybody's asking, what's what's the most fun part
about the draft process? You met with a lot of
these teams. Is there a fun part to it? Man?
Everything is fun, man, after everything from looking at me
and me coaches means, GM mean owners to UH mean
players like I play tomorrow, adamated jez Lynda Wills at
(01:13:38):
the Jets, Eli Man and at the Giant. So it's
like getting meet these guys you argue about playing man
and over who am gonna get by playing man and
with your friends still going up to get the meet
these guys in person. His mind blowing to me. So
it's just been amazing. Yeah, it has been amazing, especially
for you, a guy who you know, for people red
shirted your first year and of course just became absolute
(01:14:00):
terror uh in the sec for people who would say, like, man,
I want to come in and play right away. You didn't.
You're still a big recruit, right, Um, what did that
year off that you're red shooting do for you to
prepare you to be a top five pick? Are preparing
me a lot man to sag and learning the process
of Alabama, learn to standard, learn how to compete or
(01:14:22):
high level Alabama. That first year I had learned a
lot of stuff from the guys who I begged up
like the run train to having something uh Jonathan Adlan
and I had a lot of great guys in front
of me who taught me a lot. So that Firshman
year after my first year, already as my first year,
I would ready to go so well, quinnin listen, you
have an amazing personal story. Obviously, I know your family
(01:14:42):
is super important to you. I can't imagine how proud
they are, and of course how proud your mom is
of what you've what you've done so far, and what
you would continue to do. Thanks so much to Hundai
for having you on and falling and telling us your story,
and thanks for joining us on Fox Sports Radio and

Shall we play for you a portion of a show
earlier on Fox Sports one er Fox Sports Radio we
call it now. This was NBA inside of christ Mannix
on First Things First this morning regarding the Lakers and
her wards saying they aren't looking for Magic Johnson's replacement
yet when the mediate aftermath of the Magic Johnson quitting,
(01:16:06):
I gave Jeanie Buss and Mulligan for it. You know,
it's her first time as an owner. She brought in
the big name. She continued a long standing Laker tradition
of only hiring people that used to work for the
play for the Lakers. But she saw what happened with
Magic Johnson there, and she's looking it should be looking
across the hallway at the l a Clippers, who have
one of the most fleshed out front offices in the league,
(01:16:27):
a deep bench of guys, smart guys that have done
the job at various levels before. I thought she would
look at all that and go out there and take
all that Laker money, the hundred eighty million dollars per
year they make in TV revenue at three point seven
billion dollars they're worth and go out there and throw
it at Sam Presty, and throw it at R. C.
Buford and throw it at Messiah Gere. Instead, they are
(01:16:49):
just sticking with the norm. Now, if Rob Bolanka wound
up being the guy, if you went through an interview
process and you were like, you know what, Rob's drafted
pretty well? I like him here. It seems like he's
got a good land in place. That's fine, But you
have the first committee, you look top to bottom, you
look for the absolute best, have a competition, and he
wins it exactly. But you know, whether it's overtly or
(01:17:10):
through back channels, I've heard nothing about them reaching out
to some of these top guys, and I think that
is a mistake and a catastrophical one. I tend to
agree with this as the one um asterisk by it.
You know, the biggest problem with the Lakers was everyone
knew what the Lakers were doing previously, right, everyone knew
(01:17:33):
and so if everyone knows um what you're doing, you know,
that's that's not generally how um, it's not generally how
it done. The NBA, right, you gotta move, you gotta
move in the shadows. Maggie Johnson was clumsy he was,
as I put it, he was not a ninja dad.
(01:17:54):
So look, I don't think not having a search, letting
rob berlinka pick a guy, um, you know, and not
hiring a president. I don't think that's as good a
job as they could potentially do. But let's see who
they pick, Let's see how it works out, and let's
see if it's not that they haven't reached out, it's
just that it's not being reported. Just because it's not
being reported doesn't mean it hasn't happened. Just because you
(01:18:16):
don't know about it doesn't mean the The worst thing
was when everyone knew what the Lakers are trying to do,
and of course that caused them to not be able
to do it. So I think the Lakers thing is fastening.
I do think it's a good job. You have a
bunch of cast space, you've got Lebron James, you got
a lottery pick, and you've got young players under under
club control. Like that that signifies a good job in
(01:18:39):
the NBA. Doesn't signify the best job in the NBA. Like, no,
there's there's issues with it, but it wouldn't be open
if there weren't issues with it. I also think it's
not easy to work with Lebron James. I think that's
the other portion to it, which you know, we're not
being totally honest about. And once we're honest about it,
(01:19:00):
you know, once we're honest about the fact that he's
not the easiest dude to work with, then we can
start from there. That's what the Fox said. Say, do
you guys see a tweet earlier today that Lebron James
has concluded another filming of The Shop. If you go
and look at Uninterrupted or at that Lebron James's Twitter
(01:19:23):
feed or his Instagram page, you know that a Lonzo
Ball is the first Laker to be on The Shop
fasting right. Of course, Alonzo now without shoe contract, there's
the thought that he's gonna become his own man. He's
trying to find a new agent. He has one Nikes
(01:19:44):
since of course they basically folded up Shop and split
ways with Big Baller brand. That dream is dead, but
it is It's interesting that here Alonzo Ball has smartly
attached himself to Lebron James's brand, gotten on that show,
and there's no sign of his dad. I think this
is a good thing for Zoe this is smart. They
(01:20:05):
can't trade me if I'm on the shop, right, he can't.
He had me on the shop. I'm good, I'm good
to go like, Yeah, it doesn't really work that way,
but maybe he does. Maybe it actually does. Um to
this point, there was no current or former Laker on
(01:20:28):
the show, and the first one to make an appearance
is a Lonzo Ball. That is, let's just say interesting.
I don't know what it means for Zoe and his
future with the Lakers. I don't know what it means
for the Lakers themselves. I just know I'm left to
think that guys that are close to Lebron generally appear
on his TV show, and if you're on his TV show,
(01:20:49):
it usually means he wants you around him longer. That
was the whole thing with Anthony Davis being on it
and of course his comments about it. So I mean,
you want to know how this thing works. Right, He'll
be repped by Rich Paul, there'll be a Nike guy,
and he'll be a Laker. And this is Lebron nighting
(01:21:10):
Alonzo Ball without not having to publicly night him. That's
what it feels like to me. We've we've created a
monster in the NBA. What Oklahoma City has allowed to
fester in the regular season as Reared has had in
the postseason. I'll explain next In The Doug Gotlip Show.

(01:21:52):
their experience in the play at Farmers dot com. Farmers, Oh,
my favorite time of year. It's my favorite time of year.
Do you know what time of year that is? You're like,
it's spring, Well, actually, my favorite season. My favorite season
is fall follows my favorite season. It's what I missed
the most from moving back from the East Coast. September one,
(01:22:13):
humidity cuts, the leaves start to turn apple cider. Sports
feel better that the Christmas and crispness of the air
like cool at night, still fairly warmed in the day,
even when it gets to sweater with like I love fall.
But that's that's the season I like the best. The
time of year I like the most is right today today?
(01:22:35):
Wonder like Test Day? Oh yeah, they they have been released.
Somebody relish the Crocken and um, I'm gonna give you
a guess, Ryan Music, as to who do you think
of all of these top level quarterbacks that are set
(01:22:57):
to go Day one, day two in the NFL draft,
Take a guess which quarterback scored the worst on the Wonderlook.
That would be Heisman Trophy winner Kyler Murray. Kyler Murray. Now,
for the record, Kyler Murray scored a twenty. Twenty is
not a terrible score. It's not Vince Young. Love. I
think Vince Young was like a ten or something really bad.
(01:23:19):
It's a twenty, which is fine, It's fine, But man,
are we just completely ignoring all of the other markers
in quarterbacks you should take to be a franchise quarterback.
Is he tall? Nope? Has he played in the traditional
(01:23:42):
offense nope? Has he started for more than a year nope?
Is he a great kind of verbal leader who can
stand in front of a room and command the respect
of others? Nope? Wow, at Lee, he's brilliant. Nope, Like, okay,
(01:24:06):
I'm not saying I'm gonna call it that it ain't
gonna work. But you know, every one of these things
and everyone that generally markers for guys that are going
to make it, they have one or two of these things,
or three or four or all of these things. You know,
(01:24:29):
I mean, do you guys remember what for example, you know,
uh Russell West, Russell Wilson, I think his wonder Lick
score was twenty eight. Okay, Baker Mayfield was twenty five.
So these guys are not like off the charts Ryan
(01:24:50):
Fitzpatrick in the forties level, but this is lower. He
is smaller, he is. Russell Wilson started four years in college,
started three years Dancy Stating, then started at Wisconsin. Like
there's four years at completely different levels of experience. Baker
Mayfield started a little bit his freshman year, have his
(01:25:12):
freshman year at Texas Tech, and then started for three
years at Oklahoma. And the bad news the good news
is it doesn't cost you as much money when you
miss on a pick. The bad news is that because
it doesn't cost you as much money, you're gonna draft
a guy higher and you're more likely to play him
early and that's what they're going to do. And you
(01:25:34):
play a guy who's not ready. And this is, uh,
did you guys ever read is it freakonomics? Freakonomics? So
the idea of freakonomics is it takes like all the
stats in your life and um, you know, and with
(01:25:57):
every stat there's a likelihood of success or failure in life.
I like, if you have two parents in your home,
you're more likely to to have a better education, make
more money, better life, better scooling doesn't mean that you're
not going to especially I mean half the country is
split household, right, but two parent home, How highly educated
(01:26:21):
are your parents, you're likely to achieve that or a
better higher level of education. Do your parents smoke? Do
you smoke? Do your parents drink? Do you drink? All
of these different things are can be I mean they've
done studies upon studies and it's all about stats. Like
you can't lie, you can't hide from all these stats. Again,
(01:26:42):
that doesn't mean that there are not outliers and exceptions
to those stats. Case in point, Russell Wilson, who is
the highest paid player in the NFL currently, He's five
ft eleven. He only scored You know, um, I think
at on the Wonderlick. You know, he's not crazy athletic.
He's got a really good arm, but his arms are longer,
(01:27:04):
his hands are bigger. He started for four years. He
played in a traditional a little bit more traditional offense.
I know they spread it out when he's at Wisconsin,
and they did some of the same at NC State,
but there was he was under center more so. Look,
I'm not telling I'm not I'm not willing to I'm
not saying he's going to Ryan leaf it. But also
remember that if Kyler Murray has then a number one
overall pick, completely different way in which you're judge. The
(01:27:27):
number two pick can be a bust and we don't
seem to caring nearly as much about it. The number
one picks a bust and it becomes a massive, massive thing.
I want to get to the Russell Westbrook deal. Speaking
of Russell's, Westbrook continues to struggle from the field. Five
for one from the field in game four oh of
seven from the field in the second half. He's on
(01:27:48):
pace for his third straight postseason exit in the first round,
and to shoot under from the floor during that third
straight first round exit. It's the twenty ninth time in
Westbrook's career which he's missed at least fifteen shots, eight
more games than any other player since Westbrook's first playoff
appearance in two thousand nine two ten. That's a whow.
(01:28:10):
And then he's doing the next question thing to Barry Trammell. Now,
Barry Trammell is a calumnist. He's not a reporter, and
so there is a certain amount of like do I
have to answer a columnists question at a postgame pressure
is supposed to reporter. They have different jobs. But something
(01:28:31):
that I've come to learn during my time as a
broadcaster in my time as a player applies here to
Russell Wilson. When you get to the playoffs or you
get two bigger moments, there are more people watching, and
you're not able to get away with what you're able
to get away within the regular season. And that what
he's been able to do in the regular season, Like Russell,
(01:28:53):
Westbrook did not have a good year. Like wow, he
averaged a triple double for the third straight year. Street
throw percentage was down dramatically. Sixty's an eighty five percent shooter. Down,
his free throw percentage numbers worked down is turnovers were
still high. Yeah, you average triple double. He did not
have a great year and they did not finish strong.
(01:29:14):
But because the average of triple double, people thought people
just assume he had some great, historic year. But that's
not accurate. It's just not accurate. And just like on
the floor, he was able to get away with things
in the regular season that you can't get away within
the postseason. You can't shoot like this, can't shoot that
volume of shots and miss because it creates easy opportunities
(01:29:34):
for the opposition, which this team, the Portland Trailblazers, down
Joseph Nurkis, their starting center, has been able to take
advantage of the same is true with the not answering
of a reporter's question and getting Paul George in it
like we mean, you don't want to answer his question.
It's differently on a on a Wednesday night when you're
getting ready to play the Timberwolves, if you want to
(01:29:57):
blow off Barry Tram won't be a jerk whatever, fine,
But just like the team let him get away with
bad shot selection and he took he continued to take
a ton of threes in the regular season. They let
him get away with icing out a reporter. Then all
of a sudden, it becomes national news when he does
the exact same thing in the playoffs. You can't assume
(01:30:18):
that everybody knows this is the deal. You just don't
answer questions from very Trammel. It's differ in the playoffs.
It's so big, in fact, that Steve Kerr commented on
it and seekers a coach of another team that potentially
you can still face in the playoffs. Quote. I just
feel like we had to be very careful as a league.
We're in a good place right now. We're very popular.
(01:30:38):
Fans love the game, the social dynamic, the fashion. More
than anything, they love the connection with the players. I
think it's important for the players to understands key dynamic
to this league. I don't think this is a healthy
dynamic for this league or any player, any team, any
local media, any national media. It's all part of the business.
You gotta feed information the fans. You don't have to
give a great answer, but it's day interest when you
(01:31:00):
go down the path of no communication. Because of the
reasons people like the league right now, we're gonna have
a lot of great players, really good guys who hand
themselves so well. Don't kill it. You've got to keep
that going. That's a part of the business. Listen. I
I understand that you operate in the world where the
president tells you that all the media does is lie,
(01:31:21):
and you have athletes to say that unnamed sources or whatever,
or look, unnamed sources have brought down governments. It doesn't
mean they're inaccurate sources. And this is not about sourcing.
The media in sports actually promotes the sport, like the
media promotes all of the great things that Russell Westbrook
(01:31:41):
has done in his life, like donate all that money
to u c l A to build a non campus practicacility,
something they should have had twenty years ago. And yes,
he uses his Instagram to promote his fashion, but he
also uses the media to promote his love of fashion
and his Instagram and all kind of works together. And
all you gotta do is answering question from somebody you
don't love. Guess what we gotta ask questions of people
(01:32:04):
we don't love. That's how the game has played. And
I'll stand by this. I've never heard anybody say Russell
Wilson Russell Westbrook is a bad guy. They don't say
it because he's not. These guys aren't bad guys. Guys
are dumb guys. These guys aren't jerks. The guys don't
have off the court issues. But the image that you
(01:32:25):
portray in being so defensive and so turned off by
civil questions and this does I've said the same thing
about Gregg Popovic answering sideline reporters questions, you come across
as an a hole, and that reflects poorly upon the
league because the league can put out these positive stories
about all the good things, and all it takes is
one guy to go like, yeah, you know, they're kind
(01:32:46):
of jerks. Why they jerks to the media, they're just
asking questions. Well, you know, Barry Trembl's a columnists. He
wrote something he didn't like once, like that's too much.
It's the playoffs. We don't care answer the question. But
the Thunder let him get away with this in the
regular season. The league let him get away with this
in the regular season, just like the Thunder let him
(01:33:06):
get away with you know, the poor shot selection and
the terrible shooting numbers in the regular season. Because the
average of trouble. Dublin fans let him get away with him.
We in the media let him get away with it.
Playoffs something different. Five for twenty one last night. I mean,
this is going the way of last year's Utah Jazz series.
(01:33:28):
Do you remember how last year ended? I'm gonna I'm
gonna give you. I'm gonna give you a thirty seconds
to to think about it in your mind. Last year,
the Oklahoma City Thunder lost on the road to the
Utah Jazz in the playoffs. Do you remember how it ended?
(01:33:49):
Let me tell you, Okay, Russell Westbrook actually in the
final game had forty six points and you're like, wow,
he must have played great well. I mean, part of
it is that Paul George couldn't hit the broadside of
a barn. He took forty three shots in a good game.
He was seven of nineteen from the field from the three.
(01:34:12):
That's why we're working. And you can tell me he
doesn't have Paul, he doesn't have Kevin Durant anymore, but
he's got Paul George. And they damn sure have better
players on paper than the Utah Jazz last year and
the Portland Shrailblazers this year. All right, I'm coming. Next,
we'll turn to the NFL and the NFL Draft. Ole

Give you my thoughts on what it means for the
(01:35:34):
upcoming basketball season. Plus we got the press every story
you need to know to get about your day. But
DK metcalf talent to wide receiver at Old Miss, projected
to be a first round pick, and he's an Internet sensation.
He joins us on the Doug galleep show thanks to
Panini training cards. Before DK heads to the NFL Draft
in Nashville, he's making a pit stop at the Panini
(01:35:55):
America's headquarters in Dallas get his own personal addition of
the Panini Trading card to give his family and friends
during the NFL Draft. That's pretty cool. DK does Panini
Trading cards. They have any picture of you with your
shirt on, My shirt is on. It's it is funny
(01:36:16):
how many people have seen you with your shirt off now, right,
like it's almost to the point of unkind of like
you know, you know, like they think of men undressing
women with their eyes, but now everybody seems that know
what you look like with your shirt off. Is it
uncomfortable at all? Yes, they're very Every conversation has that
in it. I gotta ask you. I was always told
the lowest reasonable body fat you can have is like
(01:36:38):
three or three and a half percent. You were told
you were measured at one eight percent? How is that possible? Like?
Is there is there like a margin for error there? Like,
how is it possible? One point any body body fat?
I have no idea, but I just know what I
got the body pot um. The lady said, hold on,
we gotta do it again. And then when I got
(01:37:00):
out again, he read the same thing at one point nine.
So she's like, yeah, it's correct, you're you're lean, you're
pretty lancme. So I don't know how how it is possible? Um,
But all I know is I was at one point
nine the day. You know. What's what's interesting is there
have always been and they have a sum In basketball, right,
guys will say like, oh, you can't be too gunned
up because you can't shoot. There's this thought that wide receivers,
(01:37:23):
though they want you strong, they don't want you too
gunned up because they think it makes you tighten hips
are unable to to run kind of complex routes. How
much of that do you hear from naysayers? Um? I
hear a lot um, but I can't listen to him because, uh,
they're not me and they don't know my body. So
I know my body and I know him a receiver FIRS.
(01:37:44):
So that's what I always go back to. DK Metcalf
joining us on the Doug Gotlip Show on Fox Sports Radio.
So much of your ability to succeed is going to
be based upon fit. Where do you think what style
of offense, what style of how do you think you
should be used in to fit best in the league? Um, whatever,
whichever one of the thirty two teams UH need me?
(01:38:06):
Uh you know, I'm just gonna go in and just
feel feel a role that's needed. Um. You know that
I feel like I can feel uh fit d J
Matt Gap joining us in the Doug Gotli Show. I
mentioned the Panini playing cards and look your dad played. Um,
you know you have other relatives that play. Your uncle
played as well. I'm just wondering what it's like, though,
for all the things that you have personally been through
(01:38:27):
to look down and go like, dude, I got my
own playing card. This is a reality. What what is
that actually like for you? Um? I mean it's pretty cool.
Like like you said, I'm up here at Panini right now,
and um, they took me back and just showed me
the different departments that was here and just seeing what
it took just for one card to be made. So um,
they got some great people working here, and just seeing
(01:38:48):
how everything just comes together. Uh, it's just amazing and
just seeing how everybody works together like a team. So
it just it's a real cool experience. Okay, well look
there's a there's also its cool experience to know what
it took to put you together. People only see the
after photo. They only see you the body, the speed,
the measurables or whatever. Um, how much how much attention
(01:39:10):
to your diet do you spend? How much attention to
your body do you do you spend in comparison maybe
to other guys. Um, While I was training, it was
a big part of my um, part of the process,
just you know, rehabbing correctly, eating eating right and then
you know working out and making sure you feel I
fear your body with the right nutrition, new nutritions. So um.
(01:39:31):
You know, the people out of Exos and Phoenix did
a great job with that, from my string coaches to
my pts to the nutrition is out there, they all
did a great job of honing in on just one
thing and those just getting me lean. Um. But of
course you know you had successful, like next surgery, What's
what's that like to kind of go Like it's one
(01:39:52):
thing to have a knee or a thigh or a
calf or a toe, Like neck surgery seems like a
big deal. Um, what's that process like to go through? Um?
I mean it was scary at first, but you know,
I just put my trust in God, and he brought
me this far and he's gonna leave me um out
of it. So just trusting in him and just keep
(01:40:15):
my head down and just continue to work. What is
the one thing that you had to give up diet
wise that you didn't want to give up? Strawberry milk,
starbring milk or milkshake, strawberry milk. You drink strawberry milk
like you get the nest Lee quick the strawberry stuff
and starting milk I just buy I I either do
(01:40:37):
that put in the gallon of white milk or I
can buy the like little container of strawberry milk. All right. Conversely,
what's one thing that you like? Man? I never thought
I would eat this, and now I actually like it.
I did I dig that as part of my daily
routine or weekly routine. Brussel sprouts by far Brussels sprouts
have made an unbelievable comeback. Right. People used to steam
(01:40:58):
them and they were gross, and now you can you
can roast them, put some salt on little olive, and
they're amazing, right, especially with bacon. Yeah. I mean like
if I would have asked dk Metcalf at like seven
years old, will you every Brussels sprouse, You'd be like, no, no,
thank you. I asked you twenty one years old, You're like, hell, yeah,
give me some, give me some more of those, right, Yeah?
(01:41:20):
I mean I look, I we brussell sprouts now in
my household, and when I was a kid, there's just
absolutely positively no chance I would do so. Okay, so
uh look the draft Thursday, your name is obviously give
me calling that first night. Have you thought of what
you're going to do that day? Like it feels it
feels to me like i'd wake up with a ton
of nervous energy because my future is kind of going
to be decided by other people. Have you thought about
(01:41:42):
what you're doing on Thursday? Right? Um, just spending time
with my family, just enjoying the moment because you only
get to do it once, and many people don't even
get that opportunity, So I'm just gonna My family's gonna
be there, so I'm just gonna enjoy their presence and
just you know, take it all in. Dk. We can't
wait to see you back on the football fielder. Thanks
the good folks at Panini. You can go to I
collect Panini dot com to check out those special release
(01:42:05):
of the trading cards. Congrats on all the respect that
you have you have earned thus far. Can't wait to
see you where you go in the NFL. Appreciate being
our guest DK Metcalf on the Doug Gottlip Show. If
he doesn't make in the NFL, he will make it
in voiceovers. Voiceovers. Great pipes, right, I mean like he
could steal our job, Dan Buyer, um uh Dan um?
(01:42:27):
I mean Dk Metcalf frankly has better better pipes than
you and I have, but at least than I have,
not better than you know. I'm not sure about that.
He seems to be a top prospect in the voiceover world.
Maybe he could like introduce the press. Maybe that's what
you know. Can we call him back so you can say, uh,
you know, do you like the press coverage or you know,
(01:42:47):
and then we can cut it up and use it
for our own I like it. Yeah, you know, I
like it. You know why I like it? Dan Buyer,
they like it. Get him on the phone, Cauca. Sorry,
that's was that your Cindy? Yeah, alright, it was my cs.
Not too bad. We can't get it. Schedule. Yeah, Hollywood
(01:43:15):
Brown tomorrow. I just texted you. We have Hollywood Brown tomorrow.
It's just it's not nice. Ah, that's very good. We
love Cindy. It's it's like I'm talking to her on
the phone right now. Or is that how I sound?
Do I sound like that? It's not nice? Good stuff?
(01:43:39):
Good stuff. The Nets and Sixers have provided some good
stuff so far in the first round of the NBA Playoffs.
That series that could be ending tomorrow is the Sixers
trying to close it out. But Net's forward Jared Dudley
was fined twenty five grand today for escalating the en
court incident between the Nets and Sixers in Game four.
Sixers card you me, Butler find fifteen thousand dollars. You
(01:44:02):
know what. I liked about that and I and I
should have put this up on Twitter, but Jimmy Butler
came in and then ended up pushing Jared Dudley, and
then Ben Simmons was on top of him, and he
stood there for like a couple of seconds, and then
like ten seconds later when everybody got involved, he was like,
don't hold me back, you know, like he wanted a piece,
but like for ten seconds earlier, he could have had
(01:44:26):
his piece if he wanted. Ah. These basketball players who
think they can fight Bucks and Pistons. Tonight, Pistons, they
can't fight there down three oh in this series, we'll
see if they have any left. Tonight eight o'clock Eastern time,
Rockets and Jazz ten thirty Eastern time in their Game
four in the Western Conferences, Houston goes for the sweep.
News just in from college hoops is Virginia guard Kyle
(01:44:47):
Guy is leaving school early to enter the NBA draft.
Red Sox and Tigers postponed in Boston tonight double header
at Fenway. Tomorrow. Bills have sund former Jaguars running back
t j Yelled into a contract. We'll be back to
the Duck Gottlieb Show in ten seconds. For first, a
word from Farmers at Farmers Insurance. We know every windshield
collision has a unique sound. Beetle bird poop drone. I've
(01:45:11):
seen it covered it to farmers. Farmers under written. My
farmers took fire insurance exchanges that affiliates products un available
every state. What I don't understand is, um, you know,
guys like Kyle guy, they have until May. You can
you can employ an agent and then fire an agent
if you don't like you know where you think you're
gonna go in the draft. So he has actually until
(01:45:33):
May to make up his mind what he wants to do,
but appears that he's at no parachute that he's he's
going in. Um. There's also you see this Dan Buyer,
Cassius Stanley, who's top unsigned prospect in southern California as
committed to he's going to Duke. I was saving it
for the press, but go ahead, that's okay, don't don't
care about it. No, Um, I just didn't want you
(01:45:57):
to think I didn't put it in. No. I I
teased it for a reason. But I know you got
you got play. There's plenty of other stuff going on.
I don't know if you guys know this though, but um,
so Trey Young's birthday, Trey Young is he turns twenty
one in September. So he's twenty. He's you know, I
(01:46:20):
played a year. He played a year in the NBA
cast to Stanley's just finishing up high school. He turns
twenty this August. So while it may hurt his draft
stock that he'll be seen as a little bit older, um,
he'll it'll actually uh, I mean it'll help him a duke.
(01:46:43):
I mean he'll be a twenty year old freshman, twenty
going on twenty one year old freshman. I think you'll
have a major, major impact with that team. Listen, there's
there's this deal this week, and it probably goes back
to last couple of weeks we talked about with the Lakers.
And one thing is that I actually like about the
Lakers is no one really understands what in fact they're doing,
(01:47:04):
which is good because professional franchises, you don't know what's
going to happen until it actually happens. I can't trust
anything you hear, not think against. All the reporters and
even their sources can be good. But the week of
the draft, especially Pete Pirescoe's reporting the Cardinals are passing
on Kyler Murray and sticking with Josh Rosen might be true,
(01:47:25):
But I'll tell you what week of the draft that
coming out, I don't It means nothing to me, means
zero to me. Look, this to me would be actually
really really smart because it feels like the coach, Cliff
Kingsbury convinced had to convince, you know, management ownership, that
(01:47:45):
he when he got the job, that he could fix
Josh Rosen. And if the Raiders do have an infinity
for Kyler Murray, well why can't you get one of
the Raiders first round picks for them to move up?
You need talent, You need talent bad. They need somebody
protect Josh Rosen. But again, I like, I can, I
(01:48:05):
can make sense of it. Doesn't mean I believe it.
It doesn't mean I don't believe it. But there's nothing
to say that I believe it. It's the week of
the draft. You don't believe anything, literally, don't believe anything
anybody says. Start with that. Start with that, and then
you work from there. No one's telling the truth. Now
(01:48:25):
what you know, Uh, it's uh, it's amazing. So you're
gonna hear rumors and you're gonna hear guys are sliding,
guys are moving up. It doesn't mean that it's inaccurate.
But it just means that, like now the levels of
the information. Only now you're gonna say something only the
(01:48:46):
week of it's gonna get out that this guy's, you know,
got an injury, this guy's look, I'm gonna have some
stuff for you as we get ready of the draft.
I got I have guys in front offices, and you really,
what they'll do is they talk about people that they're
not selecting, like hey, we took them off our board
because but I just I have a hard time buying
(01:49:09):
into sources that week of, say guess what I heard?
This is going down because there's just too much of it.
They all become kind of used car salesman, and they
all get a little piece of information and want to
give it to somebody else and want to give it
to one of those reporters, and they may actually have
their best intentions at heart. Amen, I become a source
(01:49:31):
for this guy, he'll take care of me next time
a job comes up, and to throw my name and
like all that stuff makes a ton of sense. But um,
but that doesn't mean that I'm gonna believe it. That
doesn't mean that I'm gonna buy it now. Now now noon. No, no, no, no,
not even a little bit, not even close to being
a little bit. All right, we got a lot of
(01:49:54):
things going on. We got the NBA Playoffs, we have
the NFL Draft, we have Major League Baseball. I thought
I saw a cool story over the weekend. You guys
see the story of the the new uh new shortstop
for the Pitts Pittsburgh Pirates. This is a really good one,
(01:50:18):
really cool story. So I was watching and UH and
the Pirates. Man, what a what a good story this was.
There's a kid who's whose named Cole Tucker, and cold
Tucker gets called up and like arrives without any sleep,
his parents arrived without any sleep, and he plays the
(01:50:38):
Pittsburgh Pirates in the first alf bad he sees, he
hits home run, and Ken Rosenthal goes in the stands
and interviews his parents. And his mom was actually with
him in Indianapolis and Triple A the night before and
then she and another family member drove his car up
and got their day of and his dad, because a
flight delays, flew in from Phoenix. It's interesting, you know,
(01:51:01):
like I've asked the all these guys have joined us,
and they'll join us tomorrow and leading up to the
draft about their families, And sometimes I get it. You're
sitting there in your car, at your cubicle and you
listen to the podcast Dog Got the Show podcast, You're like,
you know, the family thing, Why is it that big
a deal? Football? Football culture is a little bit different,
(01:51:23):
you know, there's not It's not. I don't think it's
as tough on the family to make it as basketball is. Now.
Moms and grandmas and dads they hold their breath more
because the injuries can be way more devastating in football.
But I think on a family, I think baseball is
the hardest on a family to make it. This is
(01:51:46):
my personal belief. If you've ever been around youth baseball
tournaments and uh you know, pony and into high school whatever,
like it's an all day they're gonna play two or
three four games and like like an a U game,
as much of a mess as they can be, and
they can play three in a day, Like they're like
an hour long. It's not bad. Like a baseball game.
(01:52:10):
Even with time limits, you're looking an hour and a
half to two hours, and oftentimes more so when you
factor in all the costs, you have a hitting coach,
you're pitching coach the different travel teams, and then you know,
you got high school and travel team baseball, and you're
flying all over the country and all these parts unknown.
(01:52:31):
And then if you go to college and cod college baseball,
or you go to minor leagues and all these you know,
a little po dunk towns all over the place. The
guy's not making any money. You might be climbing the charts,
but you gotta hope for injury or failure above you. Like,
I think baseball is hardest on a family to make it.
It's my personal opinion. Anyway, I saw that story, I
(01:52:52):
tweeted it. Ken Rosen a great interview with the parents
and the stands. I thought it was amazing. Become now
a cold Tucker fan. By the way, Cole Tucker is
a great name. That's a good that's a good sports team.
Would have been a good NASCAR driver name as well.
And he's got good Nascar. He's got just got good hair.
Did the nets get robbed against the seventies six ers?
(01:53:13):
I'll tell you my opinion. Next, be sure to catch
live editions of The Doug Dot Leaps Show weekdays at
noon Eastern three pm Pacific that Farmers Insurance. We know
a roof can withstand a lot, one exception being an
airborne car seen it covered it. Dr Farmers, we are
farmers underwritten my farmer's truck. Fire Insurance exchanges and affiliates

told I have to apologize to Cindy Cats for my impression.
As I'm told Doug Gallip Show, Fox Sports Radio, I
(01:53:57):
actually answered a quiz correct actually last night. Um, and
I'm gonna challenge. I'm actually I'm gonna challenge um Ramos,
you and music to work together on something. Okay, you
ready for it? You guys ready, I'm not doing it.
You're not doing it? Did did? Did you? Guys? Did
(01:54:18):
either of you guys go to like Bible study? Ever?
As a kid? No, I had to go well. I
went to Catechism. Catechism Catechism is part of the Catholic
religion to get your first communion if you're not in
Catholic school, elementary school. So, okay, do you know this?
Do you know what the ten plagues that God cast
down upon the Egyptian We were doing so this weekend
(01:54:41):
was Easter. Friday night was also Passover as well, and
so we had like a little kind of Passover dinner.
We had a sayer at my house last night. I
know it's technically not whatever, but um so I we
I was. I was asked like, do you remember the
ten plagues that were cast upon the Egyptians? And I
(01:55:06):
said yes, I actually I thought I did. And it
took me a while, but I got through them. Do
you remember them? John? This is from Exodus. This is
like you can think of this, this is Hebrew history
or whatever. I was pretty I was pretty proud of
myself last night. Locus is one, right, the death of
the first born male. That was the big That was
the big one. That was the big one. There was
(01:55:27):
a blood, bloods water, the seat turn to blood or
something correct, correct, that's okay. Blood was first, Okay. Then
there was frogs in the bed. Remember from frogs right lice,
right lice, wild bees, death of livestock, boils, that just
sounds disgusting. Boils, hail, locusts, darkness for three days, and
(01:55:53):
then the death of the first born. There you go,
it's ten sins. We gotta find a way to relate
that to like the playoffs or something, or something happens
when you you lose a player. I don't know, I
don't know that was that was my I actually somehow
pulled that one out of my um rear side backside,
and I was like, man, and a friend of mine
is like, how did you know that? I was like,
(01:56:15):
I don't even know how I knew that. I just
came up with him. Let's get to the press press.
Then did you have to go to Bible study? Did
you Wisconsin? I feel like no. My son got invited
(01:56:38):
to like an Easter service, and like we don't. Like
my wife grew up Southern Baptist. I grew up Jewish.
So his buddies like, hey, we're going to the church.
It's actually pretty fun and he's like, oh, what do
you do? Like foull It's like fifteen minutes of play
and then like fifteen minutes of warship and we sing
songs and he looks at Me's like, man, I'm really tired.
I'm gonna go home and spend rest for a little bit.
(01:57:00):
Mycend never rest, so that obviously he wanted to get
out of it. I thought you were describing the John
Ramos Show when you were running down. So they have
locusts and bees and death of livestock and water turns
the blood. Uh. The FBA five nets forward Jared Dudley
twenty five thou dollars for escalating the Encourt incident with
(01:57:21):
the Sixers in Saturday's game in Brooklyn. It was in
game four. League find Sixers guard Jimmy Butler fifteen grand
for his role in the incident. Turned wait, so how
much how much did them? Dudley Butler got fifteen billion dollars? No,
thousand dollars. I don't I mean, I guess they gotta
(01:57:43):
do it. It seems like a lot of money. I mean,
it's not a lot of money when it's attacked right off.
I I don't know. Uh. Look, Dudley was the instigator,
and Dudley also kind of brought down Jimmy Butler when
he was falling down to make it look worse and
at the end of the day, they are just defending
their teammates, which he wants them to want them to do.
I don't know. It's a much ado about nothing, much
(01:58:04):
ado about nothing yesterday. That's GM. Shawn Marks suspended for
tomorrow's Game five and Find twenty five brand for entering
the referees locker room after Saturday's Game four lost. He
lost his mind there? Huh? Was it because the foul,
the Jared Allen foul at the end um? Yeah, And
there was also the I think the flagrant is part
of earlier in the game. I think that was the
(01:58:27):
They think the embiads getting a getting away with a lot, yeah,
I mean like the Nets can nets can get away
with being the cute little underdog story. I mean my
thing was, I don't understand why Danijel Russell was passing
the ball to Jared Allen, you know, rolling to the
basket unless he has a dunk like Danzel Russell, you
get a mismatch. You go to work, dude. Some news
(01:58:48):
from the NFL, as the NFL Network reports, the Seahawks
have been in talks with the Colts, Chiefs, and Jets
regarding trades involving defensive end Frank Clark. Now there's a
report also saying that the Jets aren't interested in Clark.
But as you said, that's what you get this time
a week, Schneider, this time of year, I should say,
Schneider says, it's feasible. John Schneider SAHM, it's feasible to
(01:59:09):
sign Frank Clark, Bobby Wagner and jar and Reid. But
it's going to be challenging. Yeah, So basically he wants
a he needs a rework deal, right, and so does
Bobby Wagner. And they just did that huge deal with
Russell Wilson, and so they're probably trying to see what
they can get for him that that that's fair right
right right about now? Is that about right? You think? Yeah?
(01:59:30):
And and Clark's got the franchise tag. I think he's
actually very important. I would hate to see them trade
him as someone who's cheered for the Seahawks for a while.
But um, I understand those are that's a tough it's
tough to pick one over the other when you're looking
at guys to resign Clark. Yeah, and and here's a
guy and Frank Clark remember he had some knocks against
(01:59:51):
him for some uh some DVSA domestic island stuff when
he was in college, and he's had I don't believe
any problems as a pro No, but that makes the
Chiefs also interesting in this conversation. If they are one
of the teams, can the Chiefs take that take that chance?
Great Redskins Senior VP Doug Williams says, the team isn't
out of the it's not out of the rebel possibility
(02:00:12):
for the team to take a quarterback with the fifteenth
overall pick in the draft. They did trade for case
Keenum this soft season. I don't think it's had their
own possibility they trade for Josh Rosen either, But I
have no idea who to believe about what. Federal authorities
have charged four family members from Texas with felonies after
they fraudulently tried to obtain Masters tickets through the tournament's
ticket lottery. So they got like a mailing list of
(02:00:35):
a bunch of names, and then if those names were picked,
they tried to say, all this person moved to this
location and then they would resell them for ten times
the amounts. Man, that's diabolical We've got a master's tickets
all in the family. That is a tradition, unlike a
w n B A and CBS Sports have struck a
(02:00:56):
TV deal. How about that. Yeah, I used to be
on CBS Sports to work. Now they got w NB.
I've been replaced for w n B A, but used
your salary to strike this deal. That's what they did. Wow,
they really did not get a lot of money for
the w NBA cock Come on, um, and you were
talking about cash you Stanley earlier. Marik Sondheimer of The
l A Times reports that Stanley said Duke moved into
(02:01:16):
the equation soon after U c l A fired head
coach Steve all for this past season and now he's
headed to Duke this fall. Steve Alford dead did do
a very good job of recruiting, of course, shuffle to staff.
But you know this is this is what happens when
you make a coaching change. And you know when when
U c l A did not hit the ground running
yet mc mc cronin, who has done a really good
(02:01:37):
job as coach, but you got to hire the right
assistants who have maintained those right relationships. Backing out there
and pressed that was the press. Doesn't doesn't mean that
they won't get it going in the future, just means
it's a bit of a setback, especially for a guy
who's twenty years old as a freshman, is going to
be a really, really good player. Alright. Hollywood Brown tomorrow,
plus Daniel Jeremiah on his latest Big Board What can
