You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. Welcome to Friday's podcast.
I'll say what I learn from Cam Newton's port performance
on Thursday, plus my favorite rivalry in the NFL, Odell
Beckham Jr. Now with the Browns against Greg Williams formerly
with the Browns. Plus John Middlecoff, Jeff Schwartz and Raider's
offensive lineman Trent brown Boom. What Up America, Doug Gottlieb Show,
(00:44):
Fox Sports Radio, Happy Football Friday to you. The Doug
Gotlieb Show is brought to you by Farmers. At Farmers,
we've seen almost everything, so we're uncover almost anything. When
it's game time, I'm experienced player, help me stay at
the game, put their experience into play. At Farmers dot com.
We are so last night did not exactly go as planned.
(01:06):
All of us on the show. Dan Buyer his pick
was so bad he stayed away. Today I will contend
I thought about picking Tampa, but only against the numbers,
not to win. Uh but music me buyer. We all
thought Carolina Panthers at home last year home teams were
fourteen and three on Thursday night football games, and we
(01:28):
just assumed the Carolina Panthers, who should have really had
a great shot of beating the l A Rams in
Week one, would beat the downtrodden, re constantly rebuilding Tampa
Buccaneers in Week two. That was not what happened. Weird
game had the weather delay and so it went into
the wee hours of the morning on the East coast.
(01:49):
Was great for West Coast, right Like I was like, man,
I missed the game, and all of a sudden I
saw the weather delay. Kid was at baseball practice and
I got to watch the whole game. Was awesome. It
came down to a goal line dand should be pointed
out that Tampa did everything they could in their power.
Uh everything in their power. Uh two you know, Brashad
Perriman dropping it a beautiful pass from Jamis Winson would
(02:11):
have been touchdown and they missed a field goal. Then
on the next possession. Uh, they had a delay of
game which led to a safety. Did everything in their
power to allow Carolina to hang around and have a
chance to win the game. Which, by the way, as
we look at lines, you'd be amazed at the number
we got a five for five or five picks. We
were five hudred last week. Um, you'd be amazed at
(02:34):
how many NFL games end up within a touchdown almost
all of them. So the six and a half point
line ended up Obviously you'd walk away laughing if you
had Tampa on the money line. But in the moment,
in the heart of it, at the at the end
of it, it was very much in doubt. Cam Newton
(02:56):
was twenty five of fifty one, and they used him
as a thrower more than as a runner. And if
that wasn't the most bizarre thing, how about the fact
that they had Christian McCaffrey taken the direct snap at
the end of the game. When you have the biggest
(03:17):
running quarterback we've ever seen in the Nation Football League.
Here's Ron Rivera defending the play call on the goal line.
What's the reasoning though, between that play that has had
statistically the fourth and one camp sneaking statistically has had
such unprecedented success in the league, but now it is
not the first option. Well, because we felt good about
(03:37):
the play scoring a touchdown and unfortunately didn't work. I mean,
that's all I can tell you. We felt good about
the play. Here's Cam Newton on how his body feels
and how it affected his performance. People running, Do you
feel I do? I mean, I feel okay, But you're
not gonna here no type of reasons why tonight Dan
(04:00):
Go is playing. I have to be better. Okay, I'm
not really sure what that had to do with his body,
just feeling Okay, I understand that Cam Newton pointed out
he had to be better. He was not completion percentage.
Here's a guy who, even in his MVP season only
six completion percentage. His highest completion center is UH. Completion
(04:21):
percentage in a season was sixty two point two. And
and here's like, look, the big what if? The big
what if has always been what if? What if you
had guys like a Cam Newton who could make all
the deep throws but could actually run. What if? And remember,
Andrew Luck actually has a faster forty time, faster forty
(04:45):
time than Cam Newton. And you know what if you
had all of the weaponry from the neck up of
a Peyton Manning and yet you could also move Like
all these what ifs, what ifs we thought we would
see in a Cam Newton and Andrew luck Right, Like,
(05:06):
what if we had some of what we've seen before
from previous quarterbacks, only in bigger frames that could move.
How many times have you been told the future of
the NFL is in a mobile quarterback? Right? I mean
that that's what Mike Vick was the future of the NFL.
Randall Cunningham was the future of the NFL. Steve Young
was the future of the NFL. And how did their
(05:30):
career play out? There's a bunch to the Cam Newton thing.
Do I think the play calling was was not good? Yes?
I think it was bad. In fact, whether it's a
sneak or whatever, it's like, Look, he may not be
the athlete he used to be, but the threat of
Cam Newton, the threat of Cam Newton running the football
(05:54):
is enough to if you line up and go, you know,
and and fake like you're going to sneak it. At
aybody's gonna think youre gonna steak it. But but trying
to run wildcat, trying to do all these tricoration things
when like, you have arguably the greatest zone read quarterback
and he doesn't always make the right read in the
history of the sport, and you don't use it late
(06:19):
in the game. It's just odd. It does speak to
the fact that his body is just okay. He's taken
a beating, and there's a lot that goes into it.
There's the he's always been so so big, so fast,
so strong that at an early age or even in college,
he wasn't forced to to to to break down the
(06:41):
progressions of his wide receiver's patterns. It wasn't did have
to do that. Kim Newton, I don't have it. I'll
just run it. Somebody's in the way, I'll run over them,
or if I can go around them, or I'll run
past them. And in the NFL, you don't get faster.
Everybody else does, and eventually they're gonna hit and they're
gonna hurt you. And here he is. He looks. He's
(07:03):
never been a high completion percentage guy. He did throw
a terrible pick last night, and there are a couple
ofs that could have been picked off, but that that's
who he is. But this was I said this years
ago about Mike Vick versus Carson Palmer, and this was
before Mike Vick had the off the field troubles. It
was what Mike Vick does best, you're gonna ask him
(07:26):
to do less of. What Carson Palmer does best, you're
gonna ask him do more of. And that's the same
with Cam Newton. What Cam Newton does best has been
run the football, but you're gonna ask him to do
less and less and less. And now, coming off officient
shoulder surgery, having a body that's been beaten up, you
can't protect him out of the pocket. You asked me
(07:47):
your pocket past. You haven't throw fifty one times, and
he doesn't complete his balls like in the NFL, that's
unheard of, inaccuracy, unheard of playing at home, granted a
little bit wet condition, but early in the year, like wow,
we have guys thrown for se guys thrown for four
(08:09):
and five thousand yards, guys evolving a passers and we
have the great what ifs were Andrew Luck and Cam
Newton who look the part of two. I mean if
you never stood next to either guy, Cam Newton blocks
out the sun. He's six six, he's two d and
fifty pounds. I'll grant you can make fun. I've been.
(08:32):
I've been like the only one who was early on
in the preseason, I was stunned at these scars that
he's wearing, like what is he doing? But but the
scars are actually kind of apropos in that no one's
ever said like those are weird? What are you doing? Alright?
Like the suit is beautiful, the hats were cool. The
(08:54):
scars kind of weird. But doesn't have anybody kind of
telling him like, hey, doing I don't know about all that.
The Grandma scars, which is kind of like his career
didn't have enough people telling him like, hey dude, we
gotta tighten these things up, we gotta be more accurate,
we gotta improve our efficiency, improve our fundamentals. We thought
(09:15):
that the Mike Vick thing didn't work because of the
off the field and maybe some work ethic early in
his career and the lack of size. But with Cam
Newton's five inches bigger, six inches bigger, you just can't
do it. You can't do it. And the same goes
(09:36):
for Angel. Why is Andrew luck out of this league.
Is it his offensive lines problem? Sure? But also like
there's a little Steve Yeah, he wasn't Steve Young, but
that's a dude who you thought could withstand the punishment
of it. We thought for a long time that I,
as the sport evolves, the players have to evolve, the
quarterbacks have to evolve, and these bigger, more athletic bodies,
(09:59):
well they are gonna take over the sport. But I
want you to look at the guys. Philip Rivers has
never missed a start. Eli Manning only missed to start
when he was benched, going back to uh two years ago. Right,
that's it. Tom Brady did hurt his knee. He's been
the NFL for what nineteen years? That was the only
(10:21):
time he's been injured. Gold Look Drew Brees, Yeah, he
heard his shoulder his last game with San Diego Chargers.
He was back and he's never missed. You know, he's
missed like one or two games. I think with the
Saints that's it. And so as as much as we
we we want to evaluate the position and everything in
(10:42):
the NFL is getting bigger and faster and stronger and
more athletic. We have a big enough case study to
tell you the only thing that really matters is can
you throw from the pocket. And if you can do that,
if you can read a defense and get rid of
it quickly, you can last for a long time. And
Cam Newton, the answer is he cannot. The the m
(11:04):
v P year was the outlier. That was the best
defense that was I don't know if you know in
that season they played only one playoff team in the
regular season, one one team of the above five record.
They played a soft schedule, they had the best running
game in the league, they had a great defense, and
they played from ahead. And even then he didn't complete
six his balls. I mean, part of it is in Charlotte,
(11:28):
we just don't watch the Carolina Panthers. Everybody in Carolina
was listening to the show is not in there and
going like, yeah, that's Cam Newton. Nothing, none of this
surprises us. And then you factor in your at the
goal line. You have a six ft six quarterback who's
known as a great runner, an incredible athlete, who's found
a way to find the end zoe. Even the National
championship game when he's at Auburn, Remember he spun in
(11:49):
and reached out didn't have to, but you know, got
a touchdown. Didn't see that last night. They're telling you
his body is not the same, he doesn't move the same,
he can't take it, and they're trying to make him
into a pot could pass her, and I just ain't it.
And that's why. And I do think Kyler Murray is
more of like Listen, Kyla Murray was not out running
(12:11):
guys this week, and Kyler Murray is. He is much
more of a thrower. But you can tell me that,
Lamar Jackson, this is gonna work. Even Lamar I think
knows it, and that he wants to be more of
a thrower. He knows for longevity, longevity, you gotta be
able to throw, you nenna be able to throw from
the pocket. And by the way, it's why I'm not
a long term buyer, und Lamar Jackson. I think it's
(12:31):
more a sign of how bad the Dolphins were, not
just in their personnel, their mojo. I mean, it's Maga
Fitzpatrick already asking to be traded. We're just like, you know,
barely into his run with the Dolphins, everybody just kind
of giving up. I think water, you know, once you
get to week five and they start playing legit opponents
who have a book on him. I think people forced
him to throw into tight windows. But all this running
(12:55):
around the quarterbacks do in college, and they do early
on their pro career, it's gonna get your hurt, it's
gonna short your career, and it is not a determinant
into your success in the NFL. Don't believe me. They
didn't even give Cam Newton a shot to run in
late Be sure to catch live editions. So the Doug
Got Leaps Show week days at noon eastern three pm
(13:15):
Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the I Heart Radio
app Doug Otlap Show rolls on Fox Sports Radio. Let's
welcome into Jeff Schwartz, a former offensive lineman from Her Panther,
from Her Giant. Also, you can read his work in
the Athletic. You can hear him on Pack twelve Radio network. Uh, Jeff,
(13:37):
are we are we past the point? Are we like
in the point of diminishing returns? Here with with Cam
Newton right like we used to give him a pass.
He's like, Wow, he's inaccurate. But at least Camp can
make some plays athletically that no one else can make.
And with him not running him late in the game
on the goal line kind of tells you that they
(13:58):
seem to know something that we all might suspect that
he's taken such a beating. He's not that guy anymore. Like,
are you to the point where we had diminishing returns?
I think the short answer is no, we're not there.
But I think the long answer, and so what you
just mention is probably yes. So in the short term,
here's what I think they can do, which is let
Cam run. I mean, look, we we see that when
(14:20):
Cam is able to run the football, he plays better
as a quarterback. He is one of the only guys,
i'd say, in the NFL at quarterback they can play
with emotions like visible emotion like like for example, Baker
Mayfield last week just looked excited and jed terry and
couldn't kind of handle the moment of all that pressure
on him right. He didn't play it right. Well. I
(14:42):
feel like Cam Newton can do that. Cam Newton does
that very well. And when he runs the football, when
he gets twelve fifteen yards, when he feels kind of
that physical contact, he gets up, he celebrates. It makes
him a better quarterback. It makes the team a better
team and it gets the crowd going. And when he's
taken those away from him, he's not as good a
a quarterback. But the long term answer why I say yes,
(15:02):
probably he's getting close to being done is because he
really probably can't do that all throughout the season because
he's gonna get hurt again. And Ye actually has not
been hurt often running the football. It's often actually in
the pocket um and one of them, one of them
was when he's on an interception, Kurder to tackle Um.
But he's a better quarterback when he runs. However, if
(15:24):
he gets hurt again, his career has probably done. So
I get why the Panthers aren't running him as much,
but I think they just need to say screw it,
let's do it. Because that has this conversation with Jordan Groves,
who played the Panthers forever like eleven years. We talked
a couple of years ago on the local radio show
here in Charlotte about what to do with Cam Do
do you basically say, hey, can we we want you
to be a pocket passer now and trying to limit
his exposure, and Jordan said no. Joan said, look, you
(15:47):
just for black of better term. You run him into
the ground, right like you just you let camp Cam
and when it's over, it's over. And that's what the
panther thing haves to do. They have to let camp
Cam and if it's over, it's over. It's over everyone too,
because Ron River is not gonna survive the season. Is
good of a coach is? I think he is. If
he doesn't have a winning season, he's not there. Marty
Herd has gone the GM. So you better do what
(16:09):
you can do to make Cam be the best he
can be. Jeff Schwart showing us in the Dugout Lip
Show on Fox Sports Radio, what do you see from
Jamis Winston last night? I mean the good parts about him.
I mean, he can't be a good corp, but he's
kind of good arm. You know, Bruce arians in that
system I think will allow him to throw the ball down,
so he just can't make stupid mistakes that he did
(16:30):
against the Niners. And the problem with Jamis is just
too inconsistent. Um. You know, he'll have a game like
last night where I thought you played really well. Are
better than I guess the Niners game. They don't have
games like light the Niners game with those two pick
sixes and just looks awful in the process. So I
think with all these new offenses, with any new offense
you have, you have to give it eight to ten weeks. Um.
(16:51):
I know that what some McVey did with with Jared
Goff coming out, you know, coming out strong in a
week one, that that's not normal. Normal is like the
Packers on Thursday night kind of a struck. Lorbal was
watching the Bucks kind of struggle through new offense like that.
You know, even the Colts last year, right, a new
offense took a while to get going funally got going
to last you know, back half of the season. It
takes some time in the new offense. And so it's
(17:11):
hard to really make a judgment on Jamis Winston now.
But he has the physical tools to do well in
the Bruce Arian's offense. Let's see how he does improving
each and every week. Joshua's joining us on the Doug
got Lip Show on Fox Sport Trader you mentioned, Um,
you mentioned Baker Mayfield. So obviously you've watched the tape.
How much of their how much of their issues are fixable? Uh,
(17:34):
They're pretty fixable. He just looked, I said, he looked
um like anxious in the pocket. He looked a little
bit um uh skittish in the pocket. Uh. Daniel Lass
he was talking to him about it, you know, Dan
Dan mentioned he just he just looked excited. I guess
the same way to say it, like they were even
the first play of the game, hard play action passed.
All I do was just set his feed and throw
the ball, but instead he like his feet were kind
(17:55):
of off balance, and he threw the ball tad bit
late and the times defender knocked it away. I think
he just plays his game, he will be fine. But
he was so hyped. And this is what I've been
saying all off season is they've put so much pressure
on themselves by being so outwardly vocal about their expectations
that every game feels like a must win, every snap
(18:15):
of the game for them because they you know, they
talked all off season about being great, about embracing the challenge,
about being a Super Bowl contender, blah blah blah blah blah,
and all that pressure on them. They've never done it before.
Freddie Kitch has never been a coach before. You saw
eighteen penalties at a direct reflection on him. As a
head coach, and so I think that Baker Mayfield just
slows the process down. I know it's my night football.
(18:37):
It might speed up for him a little bit, but
just go back to what you know. He's see a
good quarterback. Just because I don't think the Browns are
making the playoffs or be a fringe playoff team anything
going nine and seven still doesn't mean Baker manager, he's
a good football player. Just slow down, Baker, go through
your process and you'll be fine. I'm sure by now
you've heard Odell Beckham Jr. Calling out Greg Williams saying
Greg Williams uh was telling was telling Browns to take
(19:00):
shots you dirty shots at at at ob J. Here's
Greg Williams defensive cording to New York Jets responding earlier today, Odell,
Who that was a joke. That was Jerry. You know,
that's just you know, those are the things. I think.
There's been several players I just found out about it.
But we've got several players that have already come out.
And you know that I've mentioned things about that. We
(19:22):
don't do that. I've never done that anywhere I've been.
We don't do anything to hurt the team. It's the
number one primary thing. If you're committing penalties, you're doing
those types of stuff. We just don't do it. And
you know, you guys are cooperating giving him attention. Just
don't give him attention, you know. And it just is
what it is. It's a dispersed one of he's one
of the most dynamic players in the league for him.
(19:44):
That's your opinion. What what's the New York's opinion? The
Giants opinion? What did what did? The Giants don't don't,
So that's not a question for me. Uh. He went
from he went putting out the fire to lighting a
completely different fire. Uh. Yeah, Look, here's to deal with that. Um.
(20:08):
Do I think Greg Williams tells his players to be
very physical on the stars of opposing teams. Yes, I
think that's not an odd request on defense. Now, is
he telling players out right, I want you to try
to break O'Dell's leg? Probably not, Um, But there are
players Doug who play the game and they try to
hurt people like Legit hurt people. I don't know why.
(20:30):
I was never like I wanted to pancake my defender,
but I wasn't trying to break his leg in the process.
I put the offsex of line coach who liked guys
trying to hurt other guys. I was never I was
never my game. I never wanted to go out there
and physically injure someone. If I did injure someone by
pankaing them, I didn't feel great about it. But that's
my job. And it wasn't dirty about it, um but
like it's not it's it's like, this is kind of
(20:53):
like what football has been, especially with the older coaches.
I think that Greg william has done this forever now.
It would not surprise me if he said something to
his players. And we've heard him on audio before with
down with the Down to Get telling him, you know,
to to take the hand off the snake. So yeah,
of course he's probably said this to his players. But Odell,
I mean, that's kind of like you're a superstar, buddy,
they're gonna try to target you, and now you're wearing
(21:14):
a watch and you're talking about it now, like talking
about it, it's not gonna make it any easier for you.
In Money Night, they're gonna probably go after even more now.
Doug Alip Show here on Fox Sports trait it it's
it's fascinating theater. Nonetheless, the Jets are have you ever
heard of an NFL player getting mono? No? And no,
and then and then I have the first question I
asked was is he married? And he's not, so he's
(21:35):
been joining the New York night wife. I had a
couple buddies tell me they've seen out and about in
New York. So, um no, and I guess I didn't.
I didn't know this, but I guess you're spleening largest
and therefore you're you know, I think I think Pro
Football Doc mentioned this, like and then you know if
you get hit, obviously, but you're spleen. So that's why
he's not playing. Um wow, and the Jets. I thought
(21:56):
the Jets were gonna be okay this year, but now
they're looking at oh and six. Right, they say that
they have the Browns winning, right, the Patriots and then
intending Eagles, Cowboys, Patriots, good luck, good, good luck with that. Right.
Jeff Schwartz, your offensive lineman in the NFL. Uh, you
can read the stuff on sp Nation, you can hear
them on Serious x M. Also as the Jeff Schwartz
(22:17):
is smarter than you, that then you podcast. Um, okay,
give me, give me the team that you've watched on
tape that has major offensive line issues that we don't
we don't tell like, look, obviously the bad teams. You
don't need to tell me the Dolphins stink. You don't
need to tell me that the Giant stink. You know
what I need to tell me. Tell me the team
(22:38):
that we think of it is pretty good and they
got major offensive line issues, so that the Browns are easy.
And now when we talked about them all week, the
Falcons kind of concerned me there through you onion side.
They have a combination of like older veterans that don't
move very well and the young guys and Lucirom got
her and they play very well against UM the vikings
of me. They they're pretty much offensive on the way
(22:58):
from I think being a really good team UM in
the Falcons. So they're they're a team that they concerns.
The Rams offensive line with some of their new parts,
actually played pretty well against the Panthers and we're going
looking forward to Santon. You know Houston's offensive line. We
talked a lot about them because of the trade for
tons Al just in the past. They actually played okay
on Monday night. The Shawn Watson does not help them
at all. He stands back at the statue, you know,
(23:20):
the sack that was everyone talked about with Nickerson. Uh
and late in the game, Deshaun was at eleven yards.
I mean, I know tons all got beat off the ball,
but if you just step up like a yard, you're fine.
And man, only you understand that there's a There's a
part of pass protection is where the quarterback is standing.
They's supposed to be dropped about nine and a half
and climb back up. It's why there's a pocket, and
(23:42):
we protect in that manner. We know that if you're
a tackle, you can get beat, you know, around the
edge of a certain yard and it should not matter
because the quarterback has stocked up in the pocket. And
so I think the Houston tensers are just aren't as
bad as we think, just because often does not help
them very much. Um there's yeah, And then said the
Browns just they're a wrecked right now. The tackles aren't
(24:03):
very good. And when we got ejected, when we got hurt,
and the end of the game was five linemen. So
that's I'm gonna watch this weekend Doug Gotlib show here
on Fox Sports Radio. Jeff Schwartz is, of course our guest.
Um it it felt like as much as Dak looked
great and he did, he had all day to do
whatever he wanted. Um, And look, there's some more creativity
(24:27):
to the play calling than we've seen, and they have
really good group of wide receivers. Witten uh feels you know,
feels like a guy who took a year off and
looks fresh and rested. You watched the Cowboys. How much
of that is Dak looking great? How much is just
a complete mismatch? Well, rans defense was a process. Um,
there were coverages. I don't even tell pretty much what
(24:49):
coverages is gonna look like. Member times when I was like,
I don't know what this is. They some problems, but
there was a lot of good stuff that Dallas did
and more than just making the plays that were there right,
there were busting coverages, um, but there was some play
design where you pull a guard and forces the quarter
safety to come down a little bit, you're tighter, runs
behind it. It looks really open it is, but part
(25:11):
of that is the play design. So what I was
most impressed with is that we did see a brand
new offense. We saw an offense focused heavily on flagship
pass fifteen play action passes. That was fourteen and fifteen
on those, so we know play action pass is fantastic
in the NFL and it works a lot and more
teams should run it. So Kelling Moore of the Young officeur,
I mean he's younger than me. Um actually said like, yes,
(25:33):
I looked at analytics and we need to run more
plash pass. He did it. The RPO was good. I
thought they used him not a lot, but in good situations.
He got big chunk plays. They used Dak Prescott's legs
in important situations, which I've been begging him to do
for years now. At third and four straight zone rain,
he pulled it, got eight yards UM and then on
third down, this is what it was important to me
(25:53):
is he looked really comfortable and third down he made
some great throws where into tight windows and he knew
exactly where the ball was going. So just all those
things combined, haven't me excited for the offense? I know
that Giants sucked, but now you're running the offense through DAC,
a confident dock and a more aggressive doc because I
think it is actually the way to go. I do
Cowboys to make this a rule. There my NFC pick, um,
(26:15):
and it started really well on Sunday. My NFC pick
was the Packers. Obviously, their their offense was not clicking.
Part of that is they're playing against the Bears. Was
was the offense definitively different? Do you think it'll be
better with the new scheme this year? Well, again, like
I mentioned earlier, with three of which team it was,
Oh that the Bucks. It takes a while to install
(26:36):
a new scheme, it really does. Um. And they opened
up with a tough Bears defense on the road. Now
they go home and play Minnesota another tough defense. Um.
You know there were throws Rogers I think wish she
had back. It's probably different for Rogers to be in
an offense that does require precision, precision timing, because that's
not something he's been really great at his career, especially lately,
where he's been running around in the back stor trying
(26:58):
to make plays. So will be okay, it's gonna take
a little bit of time under this week in that
game is a great play. Um. The numbers dropped three
points already. UM, But I think it's gonna take time.
I don't. I don't think this weekend's gonna go quite
well for them and the Vikings either. Vikings they throw
the ball ten times on something. You're not winning a
road games on the ball ten times, so good luck
(27:20):
on the road. Yeah. I kind of like the Packers defense.
And that's one of the things that I think. Um,
we discussed so much about Aaron Rodgers and his fit
new coaching staff and the things they've said about each other,
and we missed the fact that they turned over their
defense over the last two years and Mike Patton is
really really good and um and and I think the
I think the let me ask you really quickly, Um,
(27:42):
are the Patriots that much better than the Steelers or
is this just one game? UM? A little bit of both.
The Patris are really good. I mean, they their defense,
that's probably one of the better units he's ever had.
I really like they don't have i'd say, like a
star pass rusher, but they all just rushed the past
there really well. As a team. They have really good
(28:03):
length and physicality in the secondary. Um, they're factor linebacker
and they're interchange. When we saw in the Super Bowl
and we saw all the playoffs just then being able
to do whatever they need to do to rush the
past or attack. These two lineman attacked interior, attacked this guy.
They're offensively. They just made the change from growing pretty seamlessly.
They ran a bunch of plays, especially in play action,
(28:25):
that were normally for Grock, but they put a wide
receiver in there instead. They ran a bunch of two
back formations, two backs and three wide receivers. I mean
they ran from up to their snaps in that in
that personnel group, which is not usual to have that
kind of grouping on the field, and so they're messing
with teams that way. Pages are just really good. They
had had to Antonio Brown play yet. And Josh Gordon
is you know, hasn't played terribly much in the last
(28:47):
four or five years. Um, their offensive line is They're
just they're so good. I mean I picked them with
Super Bowl early in the offseason because they just I
don't know who's gonna beat them. Yeah, I don't. I
don't know who's gonna beat them. Jeff Schwartz check him
out sp Nation series x M righting for the athletic
great stuff. As always, Jeff, I really appreciate you joining
us all right here, be sure to catch live edition.
(29:09):
So the Doug got Leap Show weekdays at noon eastern
three pm Pacific Doug Gotlip Show, Fox Sports Radio every day.
This time we like to run through a ton of topics,
a little back and forth with my man Dan Buyer.
We play a game. This is game time Tide on
(29:30):
the Doug gott Leap Show. Dan, I'm feeling like the
game is going to be psyching today. Oh, let's see
the game today is all right? You're one for one.
That's although these really aren't questions to get right. We
just like to see what your forecast sees ahead so
we can get ahead. Start on the weekend. Let's start
(29:51):
in the NFL psychic. Will Patriots wide receiver Antonio Brown
catch a touchdown passed Sunday against the Miami Dolphins? Uh? Yes,
that will happen this week. I remember it's in his
hometown of Miami. Um, and they're nineteen and a half
point favorite. The Dolphins are that bad. And as much
(30:15):
as I think, like how much do you play Tom
Braden this game? He was playing late in the fourth
Cordinet blowout, UM, I think they get some good working,
I really do. I think he gets rid of it
quickly and they get the ball to I think they
want to make feel ingratiated, make him feel part of things,
and the best way to do so is to throw
a touchdown. Yeah. I don't think theyre gonna waste any time.
There may be only be a certain amount of place
that he knows, but when he's in the game, I
(30:36):
think that they will run those plays. Now, let's stay
with this Patriots Dolphins game psychic. Well, we see another
Vegas line that is as high as eighteen and a half,
which is the Patriots Dolphins line this week at any
point this season. Yes, when the Patriots play the Dolphins
next time around. Okay, now it should know it's week
seventeen in New England, so maybe the Patriots have stuff
(30:57):
wrapped up then that they wouldn't be interested in beating
the Dolphins by three touchdowns, as Vegas would say, I
just to have two games this early in the season,
to have as big as like the Ravens are almost
a two touchdown favorite against the Cardinals. Just surprising and
kind of his ushering in a new era of the
(31:18):
NFL where we just think teams are really really bad. Yeah.
I that that spread in in Baltimore is tasty, I
mean really tasty for Arizona. Like, I don't think people
understand how close most NFL games are. And um, I
just you know, you know, one of my one of
(31:38):
my picks up, I got, I got our picks up coming.
It's when I have my eye on all right, Well,
we'll save it for them, psychic. I can't ask you
this without giving too much away. What team in the
NFL is a chance to make the biggest statement in
Week two? Well, that's a good question. I actually have
one in mind. But I have one in mind. I
(31:59):
think the Vikings if they follow women and you can
go in and beat Green Bay Green Bay, Sure, yeah, yeah,
I really think like if they do that, if they
do what they did to the Falcons and they do
it again on the road against their you know, one
of their division rivals, I think that that would say
quite a bit about this Vikings team being a new
Vikings team. Um. I think the Rams as well. The
(32:21):
Rams can get up to a two and oh start
beating the Panthers in the road and the Saints at home.
I think that And I didn't think they played particularly well. Um,
that's a little bit of a statement game for either
one of those of those two teams. Um, I think
the Falcons need to bounce back, But I would agree
with you on the Vikings. I think the Steelers need
to bounce back. They're taking on your Seahawks as well. Like,
(32:43):
there's a bunch of interesting games. Bengals are interesting, right
They they played your Seahawks to an almost a draw,
and now they welcome in the forty Niners. Who forty Niners?
Say what you want about Tampa Bay. If you can
start out two and oh on the year with two
road winds, you know, like that's a huge start for
(33:05):
a team that that I think is carrying a little
bit of the burden of high expectations. Now it's the
season opener at home for the Denver Broncos on Sunday
as they welcome to Chicago Bears. It's out the team
that Vic Fangio used to be the defensive coordinator on.
So dougged or excuse me, psychic who gets more sacks
on Sunday in Denver? Von Miller or Khalil Mack. It's
(33:27):
a great question. Denver couldn't get to Derek Carr. Will
they be able to get so quickly. I'm gonna I'm
gonna say that. Um, I'm gonna say that von Miller
has more. I do think like that. That was the
game plan last year for Oakland in Denver. It worked.
(33:47):
But that's just not necessarily And Flacco holds onto a two,
so they're gonna hit him, but it's not necessarily the
game plan. They can get rid of it quickly. But
Rabinsky is it takes him a while to process his reads.
I think he gets sacked a couple time. Let's move
to college football. Psychical college football provide any drama this
(34:08):
weekend despite not having one matchup where ranked teams go
ahead to head. Nope, yeah, it's a bad weekend. Bad weekend.
This is a great weekend, you know, to have something
else do. My son has his first tackle football game
one o'clock tomorrow against the Fighting Irish. There are the Seahawks,
by the way, that you appreciate that, um, And I mean, look,
(34:33):
do I think South Carolina? I think South Carolina will
be competitive for a little bit with Alabama. But I think,
you know, I think s C B YU maybe game
of the weekend Arizona State Michigan State's interesting obviously the
sy Hawk, which is on Fox Sports one UH tomorrow
at one o'clock. I love that. I love that game.
Every year I think I was, like, we forget i
Was State should have lost in Northern Iowa. Um, I
(34:53):
think Iowa is discernibly better than Iowa State. Doesn't mean
that team always wins, but but I did. I just
I don't see it and I don't see clemps. Everybody
points to will Syracuse alone st beak Clemson last year.
People forget that Trevor Lawrence got hurt, got got hurt,
had to play third string quarterback. So I don't see
them being very many close games. How about this from
(35:15):
baseball Psychic, Well, the Dodgers clinching of the NL West
so early hurt them. When it comes to the postseason,
they've already wrapped it up. I don't know. They've clinched
seven years and rows the earliest in which they've clinched,
and they haven't won a World Series. So I couldn't
make it any worse. No, I think it has no effect. Alright. Finally, Psychic,
will Kobe Bryant be correct in saying that the days
(35:35):
of the Dream team are over when it comes to
the dominance of USA basketball. I think he's absolutely correct. Um,
they had the Dream team, then they had the redeemed team.
But if you've been watching, these scores have been getting
closer and closer and closer, and it's it's a different game. Um,
and our guys just are their their skill set isn't
necessarily a fit for the FEBA game and the world
(35:58):
is getting better, they get better, So I I agree.
I agree with Kope. This is game time. On the
Duck Godlib Show. One of the most tiresome arguments is
this argument about paying players, and I mean, it's just
so many lies that are told. I got it. There's
(36:20):
a former cow football player telling people we had guys
sleeping the facility because they can afford apartment, Like, well,
that's just not true, you know. But again, on social media,
if you say something that's anti n C a anti college,
then you're hey, nobody's check. Nobody checks you. I do.
This weekend is gonna be a big test for Odell
Beckham Jr. And Um, obviously, I mean really it's not.
(36:43):
This Weekend's Monday. Monday is a big test, but it's
it's something that Greg Williams said a staid there's two
things that Greg Williams said in a tip for tat
with Odell Beckham Jr. That I think speaks to how
many people in the National Football League feel. Wait do
(37:06):
you hear it? We'll discuss it next on The Doug
Gotlip Show. Fox Sports Radio has the best sports talk
lineup in the nation. Catch all of our shows at

if Doug Godlip Show, Fox Sports Radio coming to you
(37:28):
from the beautiful city of Angels Hope you're having a
great football Friday, fun football Thursday. Last night, I got
a bunch of college football on the slate tonight, College
on Saturday, big pro games on Sunday. The Dog Gotlip
Shows brought to you by Farmers. At Farmers, we've seen
almost everything, so knowing to cover almost anything when it's
game time. Haven't experienced player help you stay head of
the game, put their experience into play. At Farmers dot
(37:50):
com we are Farmers, so um. I'm sure that you
guys have heard this other places. We're probably the first
to get to this. Yesterday where Odell Beckham Jr. Said that,
you know some of his teammates now we're on the
Browns last year, and that Greig Williams, the defensive coordin,
was tell him take dirty shots at him. Uh, this
(38:11):
is Greg Williams, d coordinator of the Jets. Do they
play on Monday night? Talking about oh b j O'Dell?
Who that was a joke? Have was Jerry? You know,
that's just you know, those are the things. I think
there's been several players. I just found out about it,
but we've got several players that have already come out.
And you know that I've mentioned things about that. We
(38:31):
don't do that. I've never done that anywhere I've been.
We don't do anything to hurt the team. It's the
number one primary thing. If you're committing penalties, you're doing
those types of stuff. We just don't do it. And
you know, you guys are cooperating giving him attention. Just
don't give him attention, you know, And it just is
what it is, disparaging one of them. He's one of
the most dynamic players in the league him. That's your opinion?
(38:55):
What what what? What's the New York's opinion? The Giants opinion?
What did what did the Giants don't? So that's not
a question for me. Doug otlip Show. Here on Fox
Sports Radio, Greg Williams had to trigger points that most
people in the NFL belief. Okay, here's the first. He
(39:18):
just wants attention. He's screaming for attention. That's it. He
wants attention. And the second part is, if he's so dynamic,
if he's so irreplaceable, if he's so remarkable, why the
Giants gime away? Why the Giants give away again? It
(39:41):
doesn't mean that he's not good, doesn't mean he's not dynamic,
But if he's one of those dynamic players in the
entire league, why they get up on him, had him
on a contract, to pay him the bigger, to pay
him the signing bonus. I understand that there is the
baggage and things that he could control them, the things
that we say, and I was I was first to
point out, and really I was the first point out,
(40:04):
they said in the NFL network at the time, but
they didn't drag it out. I pointed out for two
weeks afterwards and even in this upcoming off season before
the trade was made, after was made, when he bailed
on an onside kick when they're playing the Chicago Bears
and they're playing well, balls coming at him. His job
is to just field the kick and he has other
(40:26):
guys there to protect him. When he made his business decision,
they were like, we're done, We're done. Guy says he
wants to win. All you have to do is recover
the onside kick and we win. You don't. Someways you say,
it's what you do. So I look at it and
(40:48):
do I think Greg Williams, does that mean? Does that
free Greg Williams up from telling guys to take people out?
Like no, But again that's his m O. Some of
that is because of what he did when he was
in New Orleans. Some of that is because that's who
he is. And Greg Williams is a trash talker. He
he does. He says things that are classically untrue in
order to try and fire up his his team. Greg Way,
(41:12):
there's a reason he's been he's coached on half the
teams in the league, right, and that he didn't get
the job last year. Right. I mean, like, look, Greg
Williams is not he. Greg Wiliams is like the guy
you see in the hallway and you know, but you're
not really like buddies with you, Like it's Jimmy. What
(41:33):
do you tell me about Jimmy? Like, I don't know.
I just know it's Jimmy. That's how Greg Williams is
with the truth, that he's seen the truth in the
hall way. Like Gregoras is the guy who said, like, man,
I've turned down multiple head coaching jobs, like okay, name one.
You don't turn down the head coaching jobs in the NFL.
There's thirty two jobs. You don't turn them down to
stay a decord dinner. Stop it. It's just not true.
(41:58):
I mean, unless you're just dumb. And I don't think
he's dumb. I just think he knows the truth he
sees in the hallway, and he chooses to just know
Jimmy but doesn't really know what the truth is. So
I'm not sitting here telling you that Greg Williams is
a saint, or he's the best guy, or he's telling
the truth. But what he is doing is he's pushing
the two buttons of Odell Beckham Jr. And you push
(42:22):
somebody's buttons when you know the triggers, and usually there's
a lot of truth to it. If he's so dynamic.
Why the Giants trade him and he's just doing all
this for attention. Don't give into it. I'm not gonna
do it. You shouldn't do it. And for Oh b J.
I want you to think about this. This is first
(42:44):
game back in New York since being traded Monday night,
and any time we've had these lead up games to
these big games, he's performed pretty well, but he hasn't
been able to maintain his composure. Remember Josh Norman fight,
I'm the lead up to that. Remember the kicking net thing,
(43:05):
the fake like you're peeing on a cone thing like.
There were all discussions during the week, bunch of attention
given to him, and it's what he wants, but he
can't exactly handle it. So man, so I um, I
(43:33):
look at it, and I I'm just blown away, absolutely
blown away by the fact that Greg Williams of all people,
and maybe that's the that's the secret to Greg Williams
is that he can he knows the triggers, he knows
the buttons, and he can push them. Oh b J.
(43:54):
Coming back into town, first game in Giant Stadium or
it MetLife whatever used to be Giant stage, him first
game in that same stadium against a guy who is
a bit of a trash talker, knows that team knows
ob j well, and instead of backing down from the controversy,
he's like, look, basically said, look, he's an attention hound.
(44:14):
Who if he's so good, why the Giants got him?
Why the Giants cut him loose and trade him? He
knows exactly that's this is the scatter report. Odell Beckham Jr.
Tweak him, tweak him music. Well, well, you look like
(44:35):
you want to get in, couldn't you say? There is
a sort of reverse psychology here that clearly, Uh, if
Greg Williams is saying these things about Odell Beckham Jr.
To get into his head, it's because he actually does
know how talented he is and he wants to throw
him off his game. Like isn't that what Brown's players
should be trying to tell Odell, Like come on, man,
(44:56):
don't let this stuff get under your skin. You know. Yeah,
I mean again, but this is the problem with the Browns.
There is no leadership. There is anybody going like, hey, dude,
just let's just go out and win. We didn't play
well last week. Let's go out and play. Well, let's
just go bust their ass. They don't have a quarterback,
Levan Bells dinged up. You know their number one pick
(45:17):
Um is a little dinged up. You know, one of
their top watch, Quincy new One's done, may not play football.
Like we are way better than them. Why, here's one
you ever heard this one? Don't punch down, don't punch down.
Don't punch down. If you don't punch down, you know,
(45:41):
and by punching down, the Jets are below the Browns
right now they are. The Jets would be a team
to be lucky, lucky to win a game in the
first six or seven. And you start owing six or seven, like,
you know, seasons complete waste, completely lost. I mean even
when Donald gets back, Like, how many games they gonna win?
(46:02):
The brownser team expected to make the playoffs, some people
expecting to compete for the Super Bowl. And you're worried
about you know, you're you're getting into a back and
forth the defensive coordinator, who is clearly bitter. He didn't
get the job right. He was in Cleveland, was doing
a good job. The defense wasn't the problem, per se.
(46:25):
He didn't get the job. He got passed over for
a guy that was the running backs coach. I mean's
obviously mad about it, and maybe O b J is
just trying to tweak him. But that's not your job, dude.
Just go and catch touchdown passes. I mean, look, the
this is the whole thing with him. The watch serves
no purpose other than to bring attention for him. The
(46:48):
hair serves no purpose to bring attention to him. The
calling out the defensive court serves no purpose other than
to bring attention to him. And Greg Williams knows it
and said as much. This is who the league thinks
you are. You just love attention, dude. You love attention
(47:10):
more than you love football. Football brings the attention, but
you love the attention more. And if you're so good,
you're so dynamic, you're so crazy, super talented, you're a
once in a generation player. I mean that the Giants
had launce Tail, they'd ever traded him, right. The Giants
(47:31):
are building their new their their new culture around se
Kwon Barkley. That's what they're building around, not you. What
does that tell you? Again, it doesn't mean the Giants
are properly evaluating his talent, and doesn't mean that that
Greg Williams isn't taken a little a little liberty with it,
because let's all be honest. Odell Beckham Jr. Is a
(47:53):
supreme talent, But is he that good? I don't know.
I kind of think he was echoing what he believes
other people say. Former NFL scout John Middlecoff joins the show.
What does he think about the back and forth seen
O B J and Greg Williams. Plus we'll ask him
about Cam Newton. Have we have we gotten to the
point of diminishing returns? How jamis Winston look last night?
(48:17):
I know? Yeah? By the way, huge games this weekend? Vikings,
who can who passed through ten passes last weekend? Going
to Green Bay Tech on the Packers. You've got Chicago
now on the road trying to get their first win
against their former defensive coordinator. And oh yeah, by the way, Raiders,
great game plan, but is that success sustainable? And um
(48:40):
and I gotta figure out Rams Saints rematch of NFC
Championship game. Are we to the point where somebody needs
to tell the Saints dude it is You gotta get
over the officiating thing that's up coming next. Be sure
to catch live editions of the Doug Dot Leap Show
weekdays in noon eastern three pm Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio and the hard radio app Doug Olive Show Fox
(49:03):
Sports Radio. Um, it's kind of interesting. So Ramos is
back Monday, right? Is that right? Ramos is back Monday.
He took what's six weeks off with paternity leaves six
weeks already I believe it turned out to be about
six weeks. Yes, that's amazing. Well, we'll get to find
out about the about the new new member of the
(49:23):
Ramos clan and we'll go that that way, I have
somebody to talk dad's stuff with. Uh, pretty cool Dad
night last night? Can I can I give you my
kind of cool Dad Night. So my wife thinks I'm
crazy because my son is playing three sports although basketball.
We're just kind of like, I'm just kind of managing
it so that he can keep his skill level up.
(49:45):
Like our team is playing a couple of a tournament
this weekend, but he's not gonna play just it's too much.
But he plays on a club baseball team and they
practiced twice week. He only gets to make one is
football right now? It's three days a week. Doesn't make
flight football team. He doesn't. He has two football teams,
flag and tackle, basketball baseball, and he's school. Um So
(50:06):
on Thursdays, you know it's the big practice because the
night before the game or last packs for the game
on Saturday. Guy, you know, and I mean, um so,
he ate in between practices, between football practice and baseball practice.
I took him to both based on practice pretty late.
He gets there and he's like, hey, Dad, at home,
(50:28):
I would get dessert, right, yeah, you'd probably get dessert.
You had a good dinner. So is a milkshake like dessert?
I was like, yes, it is. John Mitelkoff joined Just
three Now podcast. The best milkshake you can get is
what I'm a mint chocolate chip milkshad guy from bath Robins. Yeah,
(50:49):
he's a he's a cookies and cream guy. I'm a
big cookies and guy. That's pretty good. That's pretty good too,
the cookies and cream for the the orio shake and
Jackson Jack in the box as a sleeper. Yeah. Yeah, yeah.
We we got into a long discussion. He was like
it was a Chick fil a, uh, cookies and cream shake.
(51:11):
And he was like, man, Chick fil A shakes are good.
I was like, hey, dude, let me just explain something
to you. They're all good, right. They have sugar and
ice cream and it's all mixed together, and you drink
it like that's I don't know anybody who's like that's terrible.
Like you may not love it, but it's not terrible,
not terrible. Most people don't complain when they drink a
mill chick um. So one of the things that was
(51:31):
cool about my night was I drop him off at
baseball and I thought I would catch the tail end
the football game. Instead, I got the whole second half,
but I was I was alarmed. I guess that Carolina
has decided Cam Newton's gonna throw the ball fifty times
a game. How is that? How is that a good
game plan for success? That's the hell of a question.
(51:51):
I I don't know. I mean, he's not an accurate
quarterback right now, you know said the stat It's still
kind of crazy, even though it's I've heard it multiple
times a day, and I saw it last night on
NFL Network. They've lost eight straight games with Cam Newton
as a starting, starting quarterback. I mean, it wasn't that
long ago when he was the MVP of the league.
I mean it was two fifteen. I was at the
Super Bowl in the you know, the early spring, I
(52:13):
guess February of two sixteen at Levi Stadium. But he's
a he's shop and my my, the way I describe it,
and I think you'd understand this. Doug is like a
great athlete in basketball. They can't shoot once the athleticism
kind of he loses it. I think exactly. It was
kind of what we're seeing with Russ right now is
(52:34):
kind of what's happening with Cam because Cam's turned into
he's like Eli Manning back there because he doesn't really
run around anymore. So that was what when he won
the m v P. I'm pretty sure he had ten touchdowns.
They used to run when you played the Carolina Panthers
and Cam Newton's prime, they would run power, meaning they
pulled the two guards and he run this state and
he'd run and it was a dominant play. Well, I
(52:57):
mean like look, I mean, I mean look in the
in the college football saying that's that's eleven on eleven,
Like that doesn't happen. I mean, there's a reason that
you know, Bill Snyder ran it. You know for years
here at k State. You know, because all of a sudden,
it's eleven on eleven and that's as hard an offense
as there is to stop, especially short yardage. But the
fact that they can't run, they won't run power down
(53:18):
around the goal line now when they when they need
a yard tells you all you need to know about
how they feel about his body. Yeah, I mean remember
when they used to have Cam, Jonathan Stewart, D'Angelo Williams,
uh Tolbert. I mean, between those four guys just pounding you,
most teams would tap out. The only team I thought
they could physically hang with them, like in their peak
(53:40):
was those harbor Niners. They gave them trouble, but everyone else.
One year that the Panthers, I think we're the two
seed and in San Francisco went on the road and
beat him. But they were they were. If you didn't have,
you know, just some dudes up front on defense, they
were going to run it right down your throat. And
they don't do that anymore. I mean, Christian can, but
it's just kind of him by himself, like Cam is
(54:01):
incomplete balls guys wide open. My first reaction was, God,
you know, their receiver stuck And then you watch like, actually,
they're not bad dz More it is pretty good player.
Or the Samuel kid from Ohio, Faith's getting open with ease.
McCaffrey's a stud. Just what it's like, they have good
offensive players. It's just Cam's Cam's a losing player right now.
And that's what I've never been a big Cam guy.
I'm not getting joy and watching him fail. But he's
(54:24):
terrible right now. Okay, So I mean, obviously it's week
two of the season, but Owen, it's not just going
to it's owing two and two home games right now.
He'd be fair to point out Rams are, you know,
defending NFC champion. That's a that's a tough open loss.
You know, although the Rams and even play well, you know,
right to be beaten and not a great road team,
(54:44):
and but but owing to at home. Okay, So if
you're running that team, like do you start the process
of thinking we might be in the quarterback? Like, how
do you do? He's such a big part of that franchise.
Like here's how you know he's he's the dude there.
He's wearing scarves to the press conference, which is the
and no one says anything to him. So it's like
(55:05):
everybody's kind of scared of him, right. Uh, it's just
a well, it's a weird I don't I don't even
know how they could move on if they wanted to.
At the end of the year. Well, they can't get
out of the contract for two million dollars in dead
cap space. So the way you'd think they'd move on
is this guy just bought the team for two billion
dollars in cash. I would imagine they were hitting at
(55:27):
this last night in the broadcast Troy d about you know,
there's feeling a bunch of pressure the coaching staff. I'm
a big ron Rivera guy, but I think he's a
pretty good coach. I mean, like the Browns would die
for a guy like that, just to grown up in
the room, give him some toughness. Uh, but I don't
know if he's still gonna be around, you know. I
think they fire everybody. And as we see every year
(55:48):
with these new coaches come in, there are no sacred
cows ever in the NFL, especially even when it's a
guy at this fame level, because he's probably he's more
famous now than he is talented. But it's just so
to get out. I think you can justify if you
hire a new coach and you just kind of move
on and the way they're heading, Hell, they might be
drafted high enough to draft a quarterback, so you wouldn't
(56:09):
draft a guy high and keep Cam around that that
wouldn't work. So it's I I, Doug, I think that's it.
I mean, they turned this thing around. I I do
not expect him to be a Carolina Panther next year. Wow,
I just I'm just wondering Cam Newton on the market, Like,
who's who's buying that? Right? Don't think how many teams
need quarterbacks? Really not as many as you think, right, No,
(56:31):
But I mean, but okay, let's let's talk about another
team that some think will be in the quarterback market.
I thought James played pretty well. Now, look he it
should have been an interception. He threw right to Luke
Kickley and you're like, oh, that's why Luke Kickleby's defense
not tight end um. But he had he had I
mean an absolute time to Bushotman who I mean him
(56:53):
right in the hands. Um. I thought he that was
a that was a great throw. He made some really
good throws. He he looks, he looks good athletically, um, look,
I get that he still is prone to do stupid
stuff like he did the week before. What's your EVL.
Watching Jameis Winston, I thought he was really good in
the second half. He was under control. He he just
(57:15):
made some plays when things weren't there. Like you said,
the ball but it was dropped by param in the
back of the end zone was a fantastic throw and
even after he missed it, he didn't freak out or anything.
To me, the most impressive part of jamis And once
he did the thing with the Uber driver, I was out.
It's like, come on, bro, you can't drive an Uber
without or getting an Uber without having an issue. But
(57:35):
and maybe he just was very, very slow to mature.
You watched him on the post game set with those guys,
it was like he sounded like a grown up for
the first time I've ever seen him. And maybe that's
having left which arians around him. But they have enough
weapons on offense if he can just play normal, right,
I mean, obviously Evans is a star. O. J. Howard
just stud Cameron Brady's a good player, got to win
(57:56):
the really good player. The running backs are more than
functional now they're pensive line isn't great, but maybe looking
back and Todd Bowles, he's not a head coach, but
he's a damn good defensive coordinator. I mean he knows
every time the blitz he's they do a pretty good job.
Uh yeah, I'm not I'm not sold that just they're
just gonna move on from Jamis. We know, we know
the way b a is. He likes, you know, reclamation projects.
(58:18):
He takes pride in that he's an offensive guy. I
think he's really like he would get a lot of
credit if he's able to quote unquote save Jamis's career
and coming off the week that he just came off of.
He was struggling in the first half and then to
control it like that in the second half. Was I
Gotta Take My House was impressive. Doug Gotli show here
on Fox Sports trailer this slice of John Middlcoff. If
(58:39):
if you want to if you're a podcast guy, when
you have our daily podcast which goes out, but if
you go to HERD podcast Network, John has the three
and out podcast. It's fantastic. I mean, just so much
great but just spirit, energy and maybe more opinion and
information you can download. Also, I have my All Ball podcast,
part of the Herd Podcast. Have a great conversation with
Adam Morrison, which the former Gonzaga star number three pick
(59:02):
of the NBA draft. That's the Herd Podcast. Now we
get three and Out, which is John Middlekoff's uh NFL
focused podcast. Let's get into some of the games this weekend.
Bunch of really interesting ones. Let's start Packers and Vikings. Um, Like,
the Vikings just dominate and choose to not use Kirk
Cousins like there was about ten times. How do they
(59:22):
match up at the Packers. Yeah, a lot of people
were kind of overreacting, like they just they're scared of
what Kirk you know, open it up. Why wouldn't they?
I mean they were just took over. They didn't want
to waste anything. They knew they were in complete control
of the game. Dalvin Cook looks like a star, which
many people would say come out of Florida state. He was, uh,
you know the Green Bay Packers. The defense was really
(59:43):
good last week, and obviously the Minnesota Vikings offensive personnel
is pretty stacked, so I think that's somewhat of a wash.
The thing that would lead me to pick the Vikings
is are we sure that Rogers and that offense is
still good. I know they've changed, you know, this offensive
philosophy be under la Flour now they were playing the Bears.
It's hard to judge. I mean, the Bears, when it's
(01:00:04):
all said and done, are gonna be a top two
or three defense in the league. But are they gonna
be able to score in Minnesota? Like I know that
Minnesota will be able to score enough, you know, to win,
you know, seventeen twenty points somewhere in there. Like, are
we sure the Green Bay has a couple of touchdowns
in them? Now it is at home la Flour's debut Rogers,
I just think Rogers not anywhere near the cam level.
(01:00:26):
But he doesn't look kind of like the same guy,
and he is old, you know, I think we just
chalk everyone's now just gonna be able to play quarterback
till they're forty or forty five. That's not normal. Not
everyone's gonna be able to do that, you know, So
maybe Rogers, the Rogers we're seeing is no longer the
guy that can just put the franchise on his back
and carry them to the promised land. So I I
like Minnesota in this game. Wow, that's interesting. I kind
(01:00:49):
of like the other side of it, but that's you know,
I kind of feel like it was the Bears defense,
But I do think that the Vikings defense is nasty.
Will uh, we'll see. Let's uh, let's get to the Patriots.
They look great last week. Um, I feel like they
don't need Antonio Brown and I feel like I feel
like the last especially two years ago, I remember talking
(01:01:11):
to NFL people like, dude, they have no playmakers on defense.
They kind of fixed that, and you go with the
fact that they've already coached guys up. This feels like
the best version of the Patriots in years. Am I
massively overreacting to one game in September? Yeah? I don't
think you are. I mean their secondary is stacked. I
mean they got backups that would starting on other teams.
(01:01:32):
Gilmore's established himself as one of the best, you know
corners in the league, if not the best. Guy. Mccordy
is just the ultimate champion, you know, starting guy on
an elite team, and just they place so well as
a unit. Now high tower, such a good player in
their scheme. Winovich now kind of adds this new curveball
as the situational pass rusher. I mean, all the guys
on New England, even when they're not as talented, are
(01:01:53):
always smarter than you. Now once they get a bunch
of talent, I mean, and it goes with Belichick and
that's why it goes act to the offense. I mean,
they got the multiple running backs. Tom loves throwing to
those guys. Edelman is just the ideal Patriot Josh Gordon. Now,
if he can just you know, stay on the field
and stay away from marijuana, he's he's a really good player.
(01:02:13):
You know. Miss Jacobe Myers, the guy they undrafted free agent.
I mean their their first round picktog is on I R.
And it's not even a big deal. Now. The one
thing that stood out to me about Antonio Brown is
at practice on Wednesday, he wore the number one I
saw yesterday. He's now upgraded a seventeen. It's not like
he's bosts the jersey from Ben Waston eighty four. Maybe
(01:02:34):
the Patriots are like, let's just hold off giving him
a real number, you know, I mean the Patriots, and
everyone's like, well, the Raiders got a bunch of crap.
Why doesn't Bill get the same crap, because the moment
Antonio does something stupid, he will relieve him of his
duties and cut him. It's just that simple. Now, I
do think there's a chance that Antonio just kind of
buys in. Why wouldn't he got a chance to win
the Super Bowl? If Antonio Brown just can act normal
(01:02:56):
for a season? And is Antonio Brown? How does this
Patriots he not win like fifteen games that they wouldn't
be absolutely unstoppable. I don't know. And their schedule isn't
isn't crazy difficult? Um that he's got Mono and the
Bills are just kind of average. The Dolphins stink. I mean,
this is a fourteen win team, probably without Antonio. If
Antonio buys in. I don't know if Belichick would want
(01:03:18):
to run the table, not that he would try to
lose a game, but I think he likes losing the
game because they're able for him to coach and lock
back in. But I I don't think it's inconceivable that.
I mean, they're gonna be favorite in every game they
play this year, so their team is a little different
than that oh seven team. But it's not crazy to think, right,
It's it's not crazy to think let me ask you
(01:03:40):
about the Cardinals first complete passes. They did nothing for
three quarters and then all of a sudden, they kind
of found a little bit of a rhythm, right, A
lot of those you know, they're running all these pick
plays and you know a lot of short underneath stuff
to to Larry Fitzgerald and Kyler got in a rhythm
and they end up finding a way to tie a
football football game. Um now, now we've seen what they're
(01:04:04):
going to do over one football game in the NFL.
They're obviously huge underdogs to Baltimore, and I want to
talk about Baltimore in a second. Do you think the
Arizona thing works? H No, I mean I think, like
this weekend, they'll get destroyed. I think if Detroit wouldn't
have taken their foot off the gas, they get destroyed. Also,
I think Detroit just kind of ran out of gas. Uh,
(01:04:27):
you know, first game of the season on the road,
they just you get the ball back a bunch too.
Like I don't think this one. We saw Florida State
Boise State where Boise State and you ran like a
hundred plays Like those offenses when you have three incomplete classes,
your offense almost like their offense. Detroit's offense ran out again.
They weren't used to having the ball that much. No,
I mean, will you see it when you watch U
(01:04:49):
c l A now where you live, Like if it's
if it's not working, you take two seconds off the clock.
I mean legitimately forty five seconds in the three and out,
and you're like, uh in like this weekend when they
play Oklahoma. It's gonna be a problem the better teams
they play. Also, I give Kyler some credit. He didn't
will you know the coach. I thought it was because
you flip up, you know, I got his four to six.
(01:05:10):
You're thinking it's gonna be forty to forty or something
at the end of the game. So I give him
credit for staying in there. But I'm still not a believer.
My bigger issue with the offense because I actually think
Kyler is like the least of their worries. He's a
really talented player. He's gonna be able to make some place. Uh.
Their personnel is not great. Their offensive line stink, and
I think Vance Joseph is the worst defensive coordinator in
the league. There were some plays early in that game
(01:05:31):
against Detroit they were just wide open, and I think
Baltimore is gonna give him all sorts of fifths, and
it's just it's gonna be a tough environment just in
general for Cliff Kingsbury and for Kyler to go on
the road in Baltimore, where if I'm a Ravens fan
and I'm going to the game, I'm kind of feeling
myself right now, even if if it's not it's probably
as warranted as maybe people think given the score. But
(01:05:52):
you're liked, we we got a squad. That place is
always a tough place to play. I mean, I love
the Ravens this weekend. Let's talk to Ravens. It's it's
I don't know what Miami was doing right, Like they're
bringing the safety so far down the box and they
still couldn't still weren't pressuring him or stopping the run,
and yet either playing man and man and Hollywood, Brown's
(01:06:12):
running right by them. Lamar Jackson has all day to throw,
Like I thought that, I thought that the game plan
that everybody else had was make him throw into zones
in the you know, short underneath routes where he has
to be accurate. That that's not his strength. How much
of it was the Dolphins or disaster, how much of
it is Mark Jackson's got much better. Yeah, I mean,
(01:06:35):
I think you gotta tip your hat to him. You know,
he's clearly a high character, hard working guy who's improved,
and he's in a high level organization that I'm sure
during the off season and during during training camp emphasize
of the right things. But if I'm an NBA player
and I scored thirty points and because eight wide open
three so four my points, or I score thirty points
(01:06:55):
when Clay Thompson's checking me, They're not the same thing.
So if he had done at against Hell, the Bengals,
just any credible team, you know, not the Dolphins who
are legitimately tanking, I think we go whoa this might is?
His kids like gonna win the m v P. I
don't even know what to make of a Doug. I mean,
he hit he hit a guy that was opened by
(01:07:16):
twenty twenty yard radius. He hit Mark Keith Brown and
another play that was a quick slant that he took
fifty yards. So the one thing I learned when I
was in the NFL as context is big. It's why
we see so many talented like guys that produced in
the preseason. You're like, oh, that guy had four stacks
in the preseason. He gets cut, Well, it's because three
of them he was untouched and there wasn't a guy
even blocking him. So if he's able to continue this
(01:07:38):
and throw, you know, if he's able to throw touchdowns
in the contested windows, because he's gonna have to do
that against the better teams, then you just gotta be like,
this guy's legit. You know, this guy's this guy took
a step. Now, we'll see. I'm hesitant to say that
though it can't be disputed that he's surely improved. It's
he seems like a very likable guy. He's clearly talented.
(01:07:58):
They have some unique happens and he's just with an
organization it's kind of used to winning. So they're going
to carry themselves like winners. I'm not going to just
scout them at all. But I don't really know what
to make it the Dolphins game. I mean, I I
think it's it's hard to kind of just like, oh,
there's clearly one of the best teams. I don't think
you can do that. I got two more quick ones
Um Saints Rams. You know, they get, they get, they
(01:08:20):
get through that fifteen seconds and it brings up really,
you know, they got like PTSD from the NFC Championship game.
Now they're facing the Rams. Now they're facing the Rams.
Do you think that's still in the Saints head. I
don't think so, especially with the game being in l A.
I don't think it's gonna be as crazy. I think
the Rams, though, got I mean one game was the
Super Bowl, but even last week he wasn't that great,
(01:08:43):
and that their running game was solid. I think the Saints,
like if you just watch that game, I mean, they're
I just think they're a better team than the Rams.
I'm not sure, you know, the Colosseum and the Rams
have some huge home field advantage. I like the Saints
in this game, not because revenge or any of that
bs more just I just think the things are better.
I just I think at the end of the day,
there's They're just slightly better. And I think the Rams
(01:09:05):
are probably not quite as good is they have been
the last couple of years. They don't quite have the
same players, still talented, they still got a good coach.
I'm not like anti Jered Goff, but you know they
run the same place kind of over and over. They
run these in breaking routes. They run the outside zone.
And when they were coming, like when they were the
elite team in the league midway through last year and
the year before for different periods, their best player beside
(01:09:28):
Donald by a mile was Todd Gurley. Like he was
a dominant force. He looks like Kamara meets McCaffrey meet
Zeke and he's not that guy anymore. So if you don't,
if you have a guy that was at ten that's
now a seven and a half eight, that's that's a
big deal, especially a guy that you fed the ball
to a lot like that's to me, that's a that's
a huge, huge kind of curveball into their operation that
that people want to stay. Last thing. Um, there's just
(01:09:50):
back and forth now between O. B J and Greg Williams.
And Greg Williams smacked back to day. He's like, hey,
don't give any attention. He basically said, like, look, he's
an attention hound. And one of reporters said, well, he's
one of the most talented guys in the league. He said, well,
I did you you saying that or the Giants say that? Right? Basically,
saying like if the Giants thought he was so good,
then why they trade him. What's your takeaway from this
(01:10:13):
back and forth? Yeah, I mean neither two guys who
just talk a lot. You know, I don't know, Odell
can say whatever he wants. Greg Williams like I I
watched the Browns game on like Monday. Odell was pretty
good in that game. He was not their problem. I
don't know why if you're the coach. I mean, O'Dell
is probably the most talented player. Why he's even bringing
it up. I understand Greg Williams egoes the side of
(01:10:34):
cat side of California, but just maybe just say, like,
I don't even know, no comment or he's a great player,
just say nothing. Why why why even shoot back? And
that's why I think Greg Williams like, oh Dale, we
expect him to say dumb things and you know, Duke
stuff like that. But the coach like this is kind
of who Greg Williams is, right, he just can't help himself.
Remember remember he's offered multiple head coaching jobs and instead
(01:10:56):
become the defensive cording of the Cleveland Browns, who had
won one game over two years. Right, especially especially talking
when you just watch your quarterback to Mondeo and you're
probably got no shot. Why why I even do that?
I don't know. The podcast is three now, it's a
great one. Also fall on Facebook. His rants are amazing.
John middlecoff Liddle, great stuff, dude. Be sure to catch
live edition. So the Doug Dot Leaps Show week days
(01:11:18):
at noon Eastern three pm Pacific. Leap Show rolls on
here on Fox Sports Radio every day. This time, we'd
like to play for you a portion of a previous
show on Fox Sports Trader or Fox Sports One. We
call it. The show is called First Things First. Of course,
you can watch at six thirty to nine thirty am
Eastern Time three thirty to six thirty am West Coast
(01:11:41):
time on Fox Sports One. Nick writes on that show,
he said this on First Things First, on why he
sees the Steelers struggling this season. Do I think they
bounced back? No? I do not. Do I think the
Steelers are a good team this year. No, I do not.
Do I think the Steelers are going to have their
first losing season under Mike Tomlin. Yes I do. I
Right now, We've got to. I think we've got to.
(01:12:03):
I believe we need to get over the brand and
just look at the trajectory. It's a third team win
team that flamed out unfortunately for them against the Jags
two years ago, that then lost their star running back
and became a nine win team that then lost their
star wide receiver. And I think now is going to
become a seven win team. This is a team with
a quarterback in year sixteen who is not getting better,
(01:12:25):
even if you think he's maintaining, the talent around him
is getting worse. They have not addressed the defensive issues. Well,
they have attempted to address the defensive issue. Spent a
first round thick on the star linebacker Devin Bush from
Michigan this offseason. And I think he's gonna be a
really good player. But why would what do the what
do we think the Steelers are gonna do great this year? Well,
(01:12:48):
in fairness, um, you know, Ben Rothburg through for five
thousand yards last year, and if we'd all agree they
they did, in fact try and fix their interior lineman issues.
Like it's one game against the Patriots. Let's it's not
freak out about the scores from week one. Like if
(01:13:09):
I go back to Week one of last year, do
you guys, remember it. Okay, week one last year, even
week to last year, by the way, the Bengals beat
the Ravens. That that actually happened. Um Week one, the
Steelers tied the Browns. Week one, the Bengals beat the
(01:13:30):
Colts in Indianapolis. That's with Andrew luck as starting quarterback.
Bengals started out started out pretty good too. And oh
on the year, and there is a time. Week by
week fifteen they had the worst defense in the history
of the league statistically. All right, go back and look
last year at at some of the results. The Buccaneers
(01:13:51):
not only beat New Orleans, they beat him in New Orleans.
That happened last season. Uh this, the Broncos beat the Seahawks.
So the Panthers, who got a terrible year, beat the Cowboys.
The Packers beat the Bears. All of these things happen
(01:14:12):
in Week one. So do I think that Rainy Fitzchner,
their offensive coordinator, had a good run pass balance? I don't.
Do I think that Ben Roethlisberger has figured out who
is number two wide receiver is or how to get
James Washington the ball. No, I do not do I
think they look bad in Week one. I do. But
(01:14:33):
I mean, like, look, they're in division where I'm gonna
have to breathe on the Ravens here a little bit.
They have the Dolphins on their schedule, they get the
Bengals twice, and I'm not a buyer in the Bengals
long term. They need to win this game before they
go to San Francisco, before the schedule lightens up a
little bit. It wasn't that they lost, New England's the
way in which they lost, and they did, in fact
(01:14:53):
get embarrassed. But it's just one game, and I'm not
gonna suddenly say that a franchise who has never finished
below five hundred with their current head coach still has
been Rothisburg quarterback and looked so good in the preseason,
is going to finish with seven wins. I think they
win nine, maybe ten. We'll see. This weekend becomes huge
with Seattle coming too their place. Raiders offensive lineman Trent
(01:15:17):
Brown joins the show upcoming next we'll ask him about
that really remarkable game plan which allowed which allowed Derek
Carr to not get sacked by anybody from the Broncos,
and how they can attack the Chiefs and what it's
like to leave New England. That's next to the Doug

(01:15:58):
everything soon had a cover almost anything. When it's game time,
have an experienced player help you stand at the game,
put their experience into play. At Farmers dot com, we
are Farmers. Oh boy, he yeah, yeah, um, I'm gonna
have to retweet this one out yep. Exactly zero days
(01:16:20):
since the last uh Antonio Brown incident. Now the Zenith
you just heard this from Dan Buyer, the helmet maker
of the new helmet that Antonio Brown was going to wear,
has decided to say thanks, but no thanks. We're gonna
party company with us. Amazing, amazing, amazing, amazing. UM. Anyway,
(01:16:41):
we'll wait to to to hear. We assume that he's
going to play this weekend as they take on the
Miami Dolphins. Speaking of the Patriots, former Patriot offensive lineman
Trent Brown of course had a huge deal, huge deal
with the Oakland Raiders and he joins us now on
the Doug Golan Show. Raiders are one in oh on
the year, and it's it's not just that they want
(01:17:02):
to know their quarterback Derek Carr not sacked against Denver Broncos.
Some of that was he's getting rid of the ball quickly.
Some of that is the rebuilt offensive line. Trent joined
us on Fox Sports Radio. Trent, how are you? I'm
doing well? How about good Man? Um? Look, how would
you from from actually being inside that locker room when
(01:17:23):
you got you know, film crews following around, You've got
all this other stuff. What's the Oakland experience been like
for you? From the moment you signed until playing, uh
this weekend? Um. When I first signed, I was kind
of just feeling things out. Um, because I'm not really
a vocal guy. I'm always kind of a guy that
(01:17:44):
just go the word and come home to have a
deal doesn't really say much, but I definitely over the
time from the time I've gotten here to to now,
it's definitely been a lot of of growth and change.
I feel like, you know, in the way everybody us
things around there where everybody decided to come to work
every day, put the work in and and and hopefully
(01:18:05):
we can keep these wins rolling. Um. When when they
ultimately released Antonio, what was you how did you personally
feel about everything? Um? I mean, I hate it didn't
work out, but I guess it's I guess it's a
part of the business. I mean I didn't really feel
any any type of way. Of course, of course you
(01:18:27):
would love to have a guy like that who has
that kind of play making ability on your squad, but
you know, it is what it is. Like we couldn't
the two sides couldn't come the terms or an agreement
or whatever, and so I guess they had the part
ways all right, So you get ready for Monday night football.
(01:18:47):
Like the first test for you and Colton is you
know this dynamic candem of defensive ends for the Denver
Broncos in terms of game plan. How close to the
game plan did your actual play end up playing out?
Mm hmm um pretty close? Uh. They Uh we were
(01:19:08):
able to stay on schedule, to stay ahead of the chains,
and and that really played. Uh he was rolling us
trying to uh containing that that great passwords of over
in Denver. Yeah, it felt a little bit like New
England right where Derek was getting rid of the ball
so quickly they had to get frustrated. It is that
is it was there, and I know that last year
in New England, you guys ran the ball a ton
(01:19:31):
and it was different than what Tom was doing on
Sunday night, what he's done previously. And but but it
did feel like like the game plan did Did you
feel like it frustrated them at all? Yeah? I definitely
I could sensor a little frustration, but um credits to
our coaches and and us going out there and taking
(01:19:51):
full full control of the game and and we came
out with a dug Trent Brown joining us in the
Doug Outlive show on on Fox Sports Radio. What's that
feeling like to go like, Look, it's a big personal
change for you obviously started in San Francisco. You go
out New England for here, you come back. You had
the shoulder injury earlier in your career. You know, you
(01:20:11):
signed this big deal. There's all this talk about rebuilding
the offensive line and and what they're and and people
holding having you know and Gruden talked about it that
not a lot of people think a lot of the
team coming into the year to go out on Monday
night football standalone game to get that win over defense
and everybody respects. What's the feeling like walking off the
field after that. It's a great feeling. All I can
(01:20:34):
say is all those people that were writing us off
continue to uh jump in line for anybody else out
there that I I didn't believe in it, and we'll just
try to keep proving your own. Trent Brown joining us
in the dug Outleap show, I didn't see I don't
remember you on Hard Knocks. Did you tell them to
stay away? Did you like, hey, I'm not because we
saw Richie Richie and he's not even playing right now?
(01:20:56):
Did you tell them I'm not about Hard Knocks? Uh?
I actually did. I was kind of looking forward to
it a little TV time to help them get my
brand out there. But um, when you got too huge
names like uh, Ritchie Incognito and Antonio Brown, you kind
of can't really expect the cameras to be on you,
(01:21:17):
you know what I mean? Like people want to see
a show, so they go follow the superstars, all right,
So if you want to get your brand out there,
like rap album, are you redoing homes? Uh? Like do
you do? Are are you a pet guy? Like? What
what do we want to know about Trent Brown that
that Hard Knocks missed? Well? I have a brand TV
(01:21:41):
seven seven Greatest Underdogs and it's based, uh, spread compandence
to people out there who have been told they can't
do something, or people who feel less fortunate or don't
have the best circumstances, best of circumstances in life. And
I just want to want to let people know that
(01:22:01):
you can do anything, and it's life you put your
mind to, as long as you keep gold first, never quit,
and and treat people the way you want to be treated.
So good seeds. Yeah, that's I mean, that's that's an
important building building confidence, especially in young people. Uh, It's
it's an incredibly important thing. Toughest moment of your career
was what? Um moment of my career? Yeah? Getting hurt? Maybe?
(01:22:27):
Maybe maybe getting hurt in San Francisco? Is that the
toughest moment? Or do you have to go back high
school or college? His mind of my career is definitely
probably uh, getting hurt and saying for you for sure
when you get hurt, and I don't think people understand
maybe they do when you get hurt in your shoulder
and you're an offensive lineman, right, that's I mean, like, look,
(01:22:49):
you're obviously your back and your hips and your knees,
but it's not just your ability to punch and to
do your job, but you can't train, and so you
lose your strength and so you have at your fee
what what's what? What's that like? To try and come
back from it was definitely difficult. Luckily, I m as
(01:23:09):
soon as I came out of surgery. There was just
some of the things that I was able to do
fresh out of surgery. I was already probably about three
months ahead of SKIP, I mean three weeks ahead of schedule.
But that's because I've been doing this is so long.
That's what the doctors and trainers were saying. But it's
really tough, Like it's just mentally and physically draining, because
(01:23:33):
like you're in pain around the plot and then you
you only put yourself through more pain by because you
have to get do do these exercises and everything that
you're being asked to do, and that's the only way
you're gonna get better. So it's just a lot of
pain and and a lot of mental struggles that you
have to overcome. But if if I say, just like
anything else, if you attack it mentally and when the
(01:23:54):
mental parts, the physical part will be easy. Alright, you
are listed as the heaviest player in the NFL. How
much do you currently weigh? If you don't mind me asking, Okay,
how do you maintain that? Way? Like? I mean, obviously
you are naturally big boned, right, you're a good power
forward when you're playing in high school. But you have
to how how do you do you just constantly eat?
(01:24:16):
Is it not? Like? What? What is what allows you
to maintain that weight? I mean, it's really not even anything.
I have to go out of my way to do
this because I really don't eat a lot. You can
ask anybody that knows me, well, I don't eat a lot.
It's just I'm just a naturally big guy. Um, and
so I don't have to eat a certain amount. I
don't have to do anything like I'm just it's just
(01:24:37):
like my natural weight. Okay, So like breakfast this morning,
would you do? I had a breakfast taco, two eggs, bacon,
and teese with some avocado. That's nice, uh, flour or
corn tortilla. Like where's like like an a taco just one?
Well it was it was more I don't I don't
(01:24:59):
see you're doing something like street taco type of little
tiny thing you're holding your fingertips right, But that's it? Okay? Now,
like protein shake, milk, water, iced tea? What would you wash? Do?
I drink a lot of water, so this morning I
had with it and then uh, I usually have a
sake either before after practice. Not a shake, but a smoothie.
(01:25:22):
There's a smoothie with two schools of protein powder, plant
based protein powder. Um. Okay, but when you do go
what is the one meal? If you go back home
to Georgia or like you know, you're in the South,
you know, like you you go back to you go
back to to Gainesville and there's just something I can't
catch I crush What is it? Mm hmmm? Really anything
(01:25:50):
my my family is cooking. I feel like my family
eat the best food in the world and prepared the
best food in the world, Like especially after living a
couple a long time and just eating that some of
my friends houses or you know what I mean, just
seeing what other people taste. Brother, Like I'm I definitely
(01:26:10):
feel like a lot of people didn't eat like I
have growing up, or just to taste of food is
just different. One. I'm a pretty good cook, cook myself. Okay,
so this is we We didn't learn this on a
hard knocks. Your go to meal. I'm coming over for dinner.
You're like, I'm gonna make you one meal. This is
your this is your smack your mammy meal. This is
this is the one. What is it? Man? I probably
(01:26:33):
get on the grill, make some sticking wings, some ribs, whatever,
you guys, you need. A couple of my former teammates
they know, um you know on the grill Mason leans, ribs, uh,
paying salad, babe beans, green whatever, corn bread. All that
I can make, I can make it all. So so
when and when you're on the grill, what's his name
(01:26:55):
that used to play for the Patriots? Shoot? That was
and it was with the texting more huh yeah, Vince
school are you you? Are you getting down on the
grill like like Vince does. Nah. They's got a lot
of toys due. But I haven't invested in the grill
like that. But I mean, I get down with what
I got for sure? All right, well listen to see
(01:27:15):
have you got on hard docks? We would have got you,
would have got you like a trigger or green egg
like grilled deal. Now we'll have to get it out
on radio and see if we can we can hook
you up. Hey, hey, Trent, continued success and health and
and protect opening up holes for your rookie running back
and protecting Derek Carr. Thanks so much for joining us.
Thank you for having me. All right, Trent Brown joining
us on the GOT Live Show on Fox Sports Radio Music.
(01:27:38):
Would you have for breakfast this morning? I had? I
had avocado toast. Like there's the I make fun of millennials.
It's like the Molos avocado toast and a big at
a latte, almond and coconut milk latte. I think I am.
I eating as much as as he said, only two
eggs in his breakfast brito. T J. Manzana joins this show.
(01:28:02):
Co Next, I'm gonna ask him about Cam Newton, how hard,
how frustrating might be to play with a guy who's
so off target, And let ask him about the newest
Odell Beckham Jr. Deal. That's next. Be sure to catch
live editions, so the Doug Dot Leaps Show week days
in noon eastern three pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
and the I Heart Radio app Doug Otlap Show Fox
(01:28:22):
Sports Radio. Uh t J. Ashman's was a former Pro
Bowl wide receiver. You can hear him every Saturday here
on Fox Sports Radio at one pm Eastern time uh
ten am Pacific time, alongside the legend Steve Hartman. T
J joins us in the Dug Otlip Show on Fox
Sports Radio. I'm sure you've heard what Odell Beckham Jr.
Said about Greg Williams. Can I play for you what
(01:28:43):
Greg Williams said about O'Dell Beckham Jr. Let's go, dog,
I'm ready for you. All right, here's here's Greg Williams.
O'Dell who? That was a joke, That was Jerry. You know,
that's just you know, those are the things. I think
there's been several players. I just found out about it,
but we've got several players that have already come out.
And you know that I've mentioned things about that. We
don't do that. I've never done that anywhere I've been.
(01:29:06):
We don't do anything to hurt the team. It's the
number one primary thing. If you're committing penalties, you're doing
those types of stuff. We just don't do it. And
you know, you guys are cooperating giving him attention. Just
don't give him attention, you know. And it just is
what it is. He's a dispersing one of them. He's
one of the most dynamic players. Leave for him. That's
your opinion? What what? What? What's the New York's opinion,
(01:29:30):
the Giants opinion? What did? What did the Giants do? Don't? Don't?
So that's not a question for me. So it feels like,
and you come if I'm wrong, t J. But he's saying,
this is the dude that's only saying this for attention.
And if he was so talented, so great, so dynamic,
why the Giants trade him? I know. Greg Williams is
(01:29:50):
a big talker, big trash talker. That's who he is.
But but what's your takeaway on the back and forth
between wide receiver and defensive coordinator. I a game that
it was hyped up preseason, Donald gets hurt, hype goes down. Man,
But give us something now, because if I'm Odell and
I eat this deepens up. Oh, I'm letting them know
(01:30:13):
about it. Like they're they're gonna know right away, Like
I might say something to Greg Williams, um during the
game if I'm gonna uh, if I'm making nice catch,
I'm having a good game, I'm saying something something if
I'm on the just and it's not disrespectful. It's all
in good fun, great competition. Let's go. And so I
don't mind it one bit. Uh Greg Williams come back
(01:30:38):
firing back, and it just brings a little more anticipation
to the game. On Monday night, the Jets have no
players and that's why Greg Williams should have been quiet.
And so it just it makes it look so nobody
goes into a game looking to intentionally hurt another player.
I don't care what the coach says. That's number one.
(01:30:59):
Number two is when you play a good team. And
I'm not saying if you heard a player any you're
you're trying to hurt him every place, like you think
a guy hits me and says, oh, I just want
to topple him, or man, I'm trying to really hit them.
That's what they're trying to hurt sw anyway. And so
(01:31:21):
I've never really listening to it. Oh man, the coaches
saying hurt me. The coach is saying doing They're trying
to do it anyway, and so it's my job to
try to avoid that, play well and help my team period.
T jss O our guests in the Doug Otlip Show
on Fox Sports Radio. Um, how does Antonio Brown work
with the Patriots? This is gonna be very interesting because
(01:31:45):
they're planning dolphinto Mike. You just said about the jet.
They have nothing and so if it's a blow like
many presumed, like Vegas and songs with this wide spread,
how much does he play? How much do they use him?
How much has he learned? Um of the new offense
being in New England. Um, it's just so many variables
(01:32:07):
that don't that go into it. She should help because
he's very talented, but they don't really need him, so
to speak, this week to help. I think they roll Miami.
He doesn't get a lot of snaps. They do try
to get him involved just to kind of get his
feet wet, but I think it's a pretty quiet Sunday
for him. Yeah, but but but how does it work
long term? Like does he because because as you've told me, like, look,
(01:32:29):
Chad's his Chad's his idol, right, I mean he grew
up in that area and Chad didn't work there. But
one thing was Chad. You know, he was able to
get away with some things and Sinsnati he couldn't get
away with in New England. What about Antonio? Does he
work their long term? I don't know how Sad. I mean,
I don't know how a b is mentally as far
as conceptually picking up UM a different system playing in Pittsburgh,
(01:32:53):
So I don't I don't know how he is from
that perspective of learning the new offense that quickly. Um.
What I will say is this from the outside looking
in as a player, a former player, I should say
when you go to New England, it's something about New
England that everybody has an idea of what you're walking into.
(01:33:13):
It's like you have that teacher, Oh man, I got
this class. Man, I can't wait till this class like
you you this teacher. Don't let you talk, man, like
you already know going into England what it is. You're
not tripping. You check ego out the door. A matter
of fact, I don't even know if you check it
at the door. You check it when you leave you
leave it at home, and so you know what Belichick
(01:33:34):
is about. I believe any rational thinking person it should
not be a problem at all, just because from the
outside looking in, New England has this reputation of no nonsense,
and so you automatically going there knowing it's no nonsense.
Does he strike you as a rational thinking person? Everybody
does until you prove me that you're not. And people
(01:33:55):
could say, well, he's proven that, or you could say,
man was he ageist and trying to get up about
it there because you knew New England was very interested
in signing him, and if he could get out of there,
New England would be an option for him. Who knows,
time will tell, right if he if he if he
gets booted out in New England number one, he's probably
done in the league, or he should be a number two.
(01:34:15):
He's not a rational finger person. Yeah, yeah, I tend
to I tend to agree with you there. Doug Gallin
show on Fox Sports Trader. That's the voice of t J.
Hushman Zada. Who's who's the most inaccurate quarterback you play with? Man,
that's tough. I thought all my quarterbacks is pretty acca
(01:34:37):
Carson was the best. Uh Man. Matt housel beg he
was an accurate. Flacco is accurate. I mean, if I
had to take a pick, I would probably say Joe Flacco.
And Joe Flacco through me a lot of accurate balls
that I didn't catch all the time. So I mean
that's I played with a good, good, accurate quarterback. That's
(01:34:58):
a tough question. What would it be like to play
with Kim Newton? It would be tough. It would be tough,
Just being honest with you before and when I said
it will be tough. It's really off of last night's game.
Everybody's jumping on him and piling on him and kicking
a man when he's down. I mean, but the first
game he completed, if I'm not mistaking of his passions,
(01:35:19):
the first game yesterday was under so that really dragged
her completion percentage down. He he wasn't very accurate yesterday.
He admitted that he didn't play well. He admitted that, um,
he's gonna have to play well or he's gonna lose
his spot at the starting quarterback. You have to win games.
He he's three years you moved or four years you
(01:35:41):
moved from me to m V p in the NFL. UM,
it's in him. He's going to have to improve, and
that's just no other way around it. I would not
want to be a receiver and playing with Cam Newton
from what I've seen in his last eight games, what
he's on eight Uh, But he did have shoulder surgery. Um,
don't know how he's feeling. You don't know how to rehab.
(01:36:02):
When is he out there toughening out like he did
last year? Nobody knows. Put him in the training staff. Okay,
what about Jamis? I felt like, you know, like, look,
I thought that was a big game for Jamis and
I thought he played pretty well in the second half.
Did you I like Jamis Winston. If I'm a receiver,
I'll play with Jamis Winston. He takes too many chances,
(01:36:23):
but he takes too many chances trusting himself and trusting
you as a receiver that you'll make the play. Um.
That deep ball he threw to Mike Kevins was fantastic.
He made a lot of nice throws during especially in
the second half. Byron left with the former NFL quarterback
of former top ten pick Bruce Harrians has done a
(01:36:44):
great job with these quarterbacks and offense in the NFL.
So I like Jamis Wiston, I like is development moving forward? UM,
I wouldn't mind playing with Jamis Winston as a receiver.
T j Heshman's out of Joints doug otlip Show here
on Fox Sports Radio. UM, alright, alright, last last thing.
(01:37:06):
Give me a team that you watched in Week one
that you're more impressed by then maybe most everybody else's.
I'm honestly this I can't believe. I'm like this question
is be an act because the first team that comes
to mind is Cincinnati Bengals. I was shocked they played people.
(01:37:29):
Don't you go play in Seattle, Kansas City, New Orleans
sat in Week one? That is tough. It's extremely loud,
and not only that, you sow many times. Andy Dawnton
dropped back and through the ball, and so that showed
me that they're onto something. The Bengals really they lost
the game, no moral victory. They played well. Phil will
(01:37:49):
Trigger makes the kick, they win the game. Um. So
the Cincinnati Beagles, they really impressed me week one very much.
So t Jens checking out tomorrow, He's awesome along with
Steve Hartman. Want to suck Eastern time ten o'clock am
Pacific time. And then of course after he gets done,
he's gonna come down watch my kid play football and
teach him how to play wide receiver in the NFL.
Thanks so much, t JU, I got you, man, That's
(01:38:12):
that's no joke. I'm serious. Get out there and make
make make a little got leaps um the start of
seven on seventh circuit. Baby well, he does seven on
seven tonight and then tackle tomorrow. But you would have
loved to be high pointed a ball in the corner
of the end zone last weekend. It was pretty awesome
and I was like that. I was like, man, I
wish I had it on video for t J. I'll
talk to you soon, all right, take care of brother.
Be sure to catch live editions. So the Doug got
(01:38:34):
Leap Show week days at noon eastern three pm Pacific.
I want winner. Well, week got him five NFL five
College five on three. It's five for five with Doug Gotlin.
Let's go five, all right, let let's start with some
college games first. Doug Gotlip Show here on Fox Sports Radio.
(01:38:56):
Florida is an eight point favorite over Kentucky. Big reason
why I remember Kentucky upset the Gators in the swamp
last year, but they had Terry Wilson. That's Terry Touchdown
who just heard his knee out for the year quarterback
of Kentucky. And you know, look, Florida's averaging four and
twenty five yards game total offense. Better. Felipe frank has
been better. I'm not a huge fan, but he is talented.
(01:39:19):
Floorda's only given up ten points per game this season
on average. And again, Kentucky lost a bunch of seniors
from last year's team, lost a great running back to
the NFL, and just lost their quarterback. I like Florida
Big on the road in Lexington, Big Fox Sports. One
game is Iowa Iowa State si Hawk on the line,
(01:39:42):
And uh, did you know? I mean I was been
good offensively. I mean it's not hard to be good
when and this is a big game. It's an Iowa
State team that very easily, very easily could have uh
could have lost to Northern Iowa. But Nate Stanley has
been great so far this year. Six touchdown passes, nary
(01:40:04):
an interception. I just wanted to say, nary why I
was defense twelten the country only giving up seven points
per game. Obviously haven't played a stellar schedule yet, but
it's this lines down to one, down to one. I
was taking a ton of respect Matt Campbell because they're
at home. I think Iowa comes in and wins. This
game obviously is a favorite. I think they will. They
(01:40:26):
will cover as well, maybe a couple of others. Arizona
State is recruiting really well, good young freshman quarterback taking
on Michigan State on the road, and Michigan States the
offensively they're hit and missed, their defense is stellar. Last year,
of course, Arizona State upset Michigan State at their building.
(01:40:47):
This is now a fourteen and a half point line.
That's a lot of points from Michigan State playing at
home against Arizona State. I love Michigan State to win.
I think they cover as well and take that big number,
and I'll be okay with it, just because I struggled
to think Arizona State can go out on the road
in their frost first road game of the year and
(01:41:08):
and score, let alone win. UM Clemson is take excuse me,
Oklahoma is taken on U C l A. This is
a big number. Twenty three and a half but in
addition to the fact that U has been struggling and
they played UH two games already and lost both games.
They like to play with great tempo, and so does Oklahoma,
(01:41:28):
which means more possessions, and more possessions mean more points.
I think Oklahoma wins this game going away twenty three
and a half point line. I'm gonna take the favorite.
I'm gonna take the favorite Oklahoma, even though it's on
the road. Let me even another favorite that I like.
I like Virginia taking on Florida State. Florida State is
(01:41:49):
one and one, a survival at home against U. L.
Monroe on a missed extra point um. Meanwhile, they lost
at home to Boys State that you know Jim Levitt's
coming in as a defensive analyst. It's just not enough
time to change their defense into evolve mid season. Meanwhile,
I think Virginia playing at home, this is one of
(01:42:11):
the things that Florida State. They still carry the banner
of being Florida State. I'm gonna take the wah who's
to win and to cover at home? If have you
noticed the trend here? The trend here is for UM favorites.
I'm gonna take one underdog. Purdue is at home against TCU.
(01:42:31):
I know Perdue lost on a field is it a
late field goal to Nevada who got just blasted by
organ But tc is living a little bit on reputation.
TCU on the road traveling to Indiana to take on Purdue.
I'll take Purdue as a two and a half point dog.
Give me a home, give me one home dog for
(01:42:52):
the Saturday. All right, let's get to the NFL. The
Patriots taken on the doll Fins. I think the Dolphins
are atrocious making Fitzpatrick wants to be traded. That's fine.
These guys will you know, they'll wave the white flag.
And I think New England continue to try and make statements.
(01:43:12):
You know, really the New England game last week, it
was thirty three to three. Remember Tom Brady was in
the game late in the game throwing passes. They're trying
to make a statement there. They want to get the
ball to Antonio Brown. They want to use all of
their different weaponry. I think that they're they're they're trying
to when they can try and work on some things,
but also have a little bit of fear factor. This
(01:43:33):
is when they were eighteen no lost in the Super Bowl.
Early the season, they were demolishing teams. They scored thirty
three points no turnovers against the Pittsburgh Steelers. What are
they gonna do against the Dolphins? And I just I
don't see how. And that defense is filthy. So if
they score four touchdowns and don't give up a touchdown,
you have a field gore too, you still cover. I'm
(01:43:53):
taking the Patriots and that huge That huge number is
a huge number. Four reasons. I like the Packers at
home against of Vikings. I know others have come on
this show and said, hey, Vikings are outstanding defensively. I
agree that Dalvin Cook looks like Dalvin Cook. I agree
with it. I thought the Packers defense looked really, really good.
And remember the Packers also benefit David buck tr Uh
(01:44:14):
is questionable. That's obviously the best offensive linement. That's a
that could tip the scales. But the Packers at home,
with an extra couple of days prepare uh Aarage didn't
play great. But he's also playing against the Bears defense.
And while I think the Vikings are very talented, they're
not the Bears defense. I'm gonna take the Packers at home.
Titans are taken on the Colts, and I know that
(01:44:37):
people are pointing out rightfully so that if that if
Adamentitary makes the two makeuple field goals that he missed
or the extra point, they beat the They beat the
Chargers last week. But it should also be pointed out
that the Chargers must have punt. Chargers has some injuries. Uh,
the Chargers, you know, they just attack phase on whereas
if you can stop the run, you can beat the Colts,
(01:45:01):
and the Titans will stop the run. Marcus Mariot will
look good last weekend forty three points, shutting down the
Bears offense, forcing three turnovers, allowing over thirteen only thirteen points.
And uh, if not for a one handed interception, if
not for a muff punt, the Chargers win going away.
(01:45:22):
I saw the whole game. Cults are okay, Titans are
a really good team. Titans win three points not enough.
I'll take the Titans. I don't think the Broncos are great,
but they dropped a touchdown pass and could have beaten
the Raiders on the road. They're much better at home.
They always have a couple of early home games and
their head coach is the former defensive coordinator of the Bears,
(01:45:42):
and he knows their weaknesses deep in their defensive secondary.
And I also think that teams roll in the year
aren't in great shape and so they come out to
Denver and they get exhausted by playing in the altitude. UM.
I also think that Mitch Drabinsky, Uh, he's not a
guy that gets rid of the ball quickly. He's the
guy that when he doesn't see it, he tucks in
(01:46:03):
and he runs it. That's not the way you play
against the Bears. You cannot outrun Khalil Mack and the
rest of this defense. You need to get rid of
it quickly the way that Derek Carr did. That's not
what the Bears did do. I like the Broncos as
home dogs to win straight up. RAMS are taking on
the Saints. Um. The Saints secondary got burned by the
Texans with big plays fifty four yard pass, thirty eight
(01:46:25):
yard pass, thirty seven yard pass, back to back plays
with a game on the line. Rams offense was solid.
Put them on the turf a little bit. Um. But
you look at Jared goss numbers, he's far better at
home than he is on the road. The Saints are
far better at home than they are on the road.
And they're on the road in this game. I like
the Rams to win and to cover. So you got Rams, Broncos, Titans, Packers, Patriots.
(01:46:46):
There's your five. There It is five NFL five College
five for five with Doug Godley in a remarkable run.
Another day, another r Antonio Brown story. We'll tell you
what he did or what happened to him next. Fox

it's Friday with a full moon. We let Dan Buyer
give us the stories the day. I give you the
(01:47:28):
reaction you need. It's called the press, the press dB
what he got dog. It is Friday and a full
moon tonight. Yeah, yeah, you interested in any of that stuff.
It was like a full moon. I mean, my back's
(01:47:49):
pretty hairy and now it's you know, now I'm going
wear will full I think this I read somewhere that
maybe like this one happened again for another like thirty years. Yeah,
but the you know the full moon is actually only
its fullest for like a couple of minutes. I was reading. Yeah, yeah,
the actual well, he said, some had some downtimel to
read that we do. And it's funny like we do
(01:48:12):
read more, but now we read stuff on our phone
and little tidbits like that, but we do read more
than Yeah, I would say. So I read this and
I'm going to pass it along to you. Helmet manufacturer
Zenith is he said it to end their relationship with
wide receiver Antonio Brown. Brown was actually spotted in practice
this week with the Patriots wearing a shut helmet, which
made Bron's previous helmet that is now banned by the NFL.
(01:48:34):
So that Zenith deal is now over. Yeah, it's amazing,
right this guy. Every relationship ends badly for him, every
single one. I don't think this has anything to do
with the civil lawsuit. I think this has to do
with the fact that he signed a deal to play
with this other helmet and then he goes to England,
he tries to sneak in his old helmet and because
he's Antonio Brown, somebody takes a photo of it and
(01:48:56):
they're like, wait, we're paying you to wear our helmet
and you're not wearing it. That's not the way it works.
I think it also shows the lengths that he went
to to not play for the Raiders, where Like if
shut had a helmet that he liked anyway, instead he
you know, does this whole other thing and this and that. Heck,
if he's wearing a similar or helmet by the same manufacturer,
I'm sure that they would have said, here, try this one.
(01:49:19):
But to me, it seems like he stretched it out
as long as he could. In the ESPR reports, his
Chargers hold out running back Melvin Gordon will continue to
hold out with the team, but is likely to return
at some point this season. Not pulling the Levian bell
were the words of Jeremy Fowler, who had the report. Yeah,
he's gonna play because he wants to accrue that year.
Um but you know again like that, like what are
(01:49:41):
the charges are gonna play Hi when they get him?
But does he think that's gonna help his value? Remember
he's still under contract next year on his on the
fifth year of his deal, so um or no Franchi
excuse next year will be French. Next year they can
franchise Tack him if they want so. I mean, look
that they gave him an offer, They allowed him to
shop himself. Nobody wants to give him a first round
(01:50:03):
pick for him plus, not just because they don't think
he's were the first round pick, but more than anything,
they don't want to pay him thirteen million dollars a
year that he wants. He's just he's a really good back.
He's just not a great back. Redskins place running back
Darius Guys on i R following surgery to repair a
meniscus injury. It's the i R designated to return, but
he'll miss a least date weeks of action. Yeah, this
(01:50:25):
is tough news for a kid who's coming off of
an a c L. Good news for Adrian Peterson, right,
we'll see if he stayed ready. Adrian Peterson was not
active last week. Now a sudden, he' they're starting running back.
But for jealous, a guy who had a UM. He
had some interesting interviews when he was coming out and
get ready for the NFL, and now of a sudden
he suffered through I mean, he only played one game
(01:50:46):
and now his his knee. This is you know, it's
nobody points this out right, everybody's oh, running backs, they
just get used up and they get you know, abused
in their first contract. Here here's a guy that unfortunately
he's got hurt because of the playing that position. Shin
but this can be basically two lost years. Former former
Warriors guard Shawn Livingston announced he's retiring after fifteen seasons
(01:51:09):
in the NBA, winning three titles with Golden States. So
he was the number one point guard coming out in
America a Peori, Illinois, going to duke and I think
everybody knows he's suffer that horrific knee injury with the
l A Clippers. As respected a dude as there is
in the NBA, and his his personal comeback is nothing
shorter remarkable, nothing short remarkable, just to play in the
(01:51:30):
NBA again, let alone be a huge factor in a
couple of championship runs for the Golden State Warriors. Great dude,
great story. And my guess is this isn't the last
we've heard of Sean Livingston and uh and in basketball,
Zion Williamson broke the head off of a golf club
while taking part in the golf event with publicans, teammates
and coaches. Do you see this video? I did, I did,
(01:51:52):
and Iron not not a driver, but did. It's like
something It's like something out of a superhero movie. Speaking
of of golf, Kevin Chappell making some history today. Didn't
get the fifty eight. Heck, he was on pace with
a couple of birdies at the end for fifty seven. Instead,
Chapel settles and I'm joking for a fifty nine, the
eleventh sub sixty round a PGA tour history. Also more
(01:52:14):
remarkable that this is his first start since back surgery
last November. Kevin Chappell, though not in the lead, but
with a piece of history today by shooting fifty nine
at the green. What do you shoot yesterday? That he's
not in the lead, he shot. That's a crazy day,
(01:52:34):
so quite a comeback. Finally, Ryant Music passed this one along.
A worker in New Zealand tried to ease the angst
of his firing by bringing a person to support him
during his dismissal. They're having redundancy. The man brought in
a clown during the redundancy session. Clown reportedly mined crying
when the man was given his paperwork, and even blew
(01:52:55):
up some bluon animals during that meeting. It's pretty outstanding.
Although you're out of work and now you're having to
pay for a clown, and clowns do creep a lot
of people out. I don't know why do clowns make everybody?
So people don't like clowns anymore? No, not at all.
My kids don't like clowns at all. Maybe it's the
permanent smile, I don't know. Possibly a little bit, a
(01:53:15):
little a little bit, a little bit uncomfortable, a little
bit uncomfortable, but yes, out there and pressed that the
press buyer. I know you have a big show upcoming
this Sunday. You have a big upset you think happens
this weekend in sports? Oh gosh, big upset. You put
me on the spot here. Um. I think that the
Giants went at home against the Bills. I don't know
(01:53:36):
if that's big, but there's an upset. They're like to
two point dogs. I don't think that's crazy at all. Um,
can be a couple of interesting games in New York. Look,
I think Cleveland comes in and lays it to the Jets.
But we'll see that. That's Monday night. I think that
one's interesting. I do think the Broncos beat the Bears.
What the Bears are, what they're owing. Two after the season,
they had Pat Packers Vikings. Feels like the game of
(01:53:56):
this weekend really tells us a lot about both of
those clubs. And I know it's not a primetime game,
but tell me when Kirk Cousins played well in a
big game before we'll see you have a great weekend.
