Speaker 1 (00:00):
Kabbooms.

Speaker 2 (00:02):
If you thought four hours a day, twelve hundred minutes
a week was enough, think again. He's the last remnants
of the Old Republic, a soul fashion of fairness. He
treats crackheads in the ghetto gutter the same as the
rich pill poppers in the penthouse.

Speaker 1 (00:18):
Wow.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
The Clearinghouse of Hot takes break free for something special.
The Fifth Hour with Ben Maller starts right now in the.

Speaker 1 (00:29):
Air everywhere back in the podcast Dojo. Welcome in another
brand smaking new addition of The Fifth Hour with Ben
Mallor and Danny G Radio providing you marginal conversation, well
hopefully better than marginal conversation all week and long as

(00:51):
we are yapping away here and Danny g tremendous reviews.
We had Joey Chestnut. We actually released the podcast you
you're able to track down Joy. It was very difficult
to track down Joy chest nutt and so it was
it was great to have him on as he headed
out of New York and we we made sure to
put that podcast up early so people could hear it

(01:12):
and not wait until Friday. So that was cool.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
Yeah, No, it was really good to hear him talking
with you again. But you're right to track him down
after the win, because normally we speak to him prior
to the Big Nathan's event. This year, we kind of
wanted to mix it up and talk to him afterwards,
which turned out to be a good idea because of
the weather delay and all the interesting things that happened
this fourth of July. But to get him on the line,

(01:38):
it was almost as hard as booking Brian Billick.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
Brian Billy Brian Billick, Yeah, it was. It was touch
and go Billick. And if you heard the podcast here
with Joey Chestnut, you heard me vaping for a long
time there at the beginning of it as we were
trying to track down.

Speaker 4 (01:56):
Flavor.

Speaker 1 (01:57):
Well, you know, Cooper Loop sent me some links to
some stuff. So but no, it was great to have
him on, and we'll have him on again next year
hopefully as he keeps going. He's thirty nine years old
and he is at the top of his game. I
love some of the conspiracy theories. I didn't get into
this on the podcast, but I read online there was
some I think it was it was a Kobe Yashi,

(02:18):
one of the guys was saying that the this is outstanding.
The competitive eating is rigged, like they're making the hot
dog smaller so the records can be broken.

Speaker 4 (02:27):
It's just outstanding. It's just it's just wonderful.

Speaker 1 (02:31):
It is so good. All Right, we have on this podcast,
We've got we'll see how it's time we have Danny's world.
It's not comic con Benny's Buggy, Pirate's life for me
and Backscratcher, and hopefully we'll get to all that will
go rapid fire here, but we will start with this.
So I did something I have never done before this

(02:53):
week Danny. In fact, it actually happened back on Thursday,
way back on Thursday, and it does involve your world.
It's Danny's world. So I got a message from someone
who I'd never spoken to before, who reached out to
me and said, hey, a big fan of your so

(03:14):
and so, and I'd love to have you on our show. Right.
So I was like, okay, whatever. I don't do a
lot of these things, but every once in a while
my schedule worked out. I was like, okay, I'll do it.
Why not, what the hell? And I popped up for
the first time, Danny on the vehicle of your old
friend Danny's Danny's World, Klay Travis, I was on OutKick.

(03:38):
I can't deal with it.

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Oh crazy?

Speaker 1 (03:42):
Yeah. Yeah, Clay's got his own network there that he does,
which is it's online, right, It's only online. I think
I think that's that's it.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (03:49):
He turned his website into a broadcast machine, also launching
live radio shows a few years back.

Speaker 4 (03:59):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
So it was pretty cool. And he's got a bunch
of us, I guess some of his buddies from Nashville
that are there and some other people that do shows,
and it was cool. I'm all for as many broadcasting
jobs as can possibly be out there. I fully support
that the industry has gotten a lot smaller. And it
was a good conversation. I had fun. It was a
little awkward because it was video. It wasn't just audio.

(04:21):
It was great to see pooh, how dare you? But
it was fun. I had a good time. So I
did make my cameo appearance on OutKick with Hot Mike.
I was the show that I was on, if you're
familiar with that. So I popped up on there. Now
this being the Saturday podcast, which is all about us, Dany,
It's all about us. The life of malor and Danny

(04:43):
g last weekend a story that has never been told
before on the broadcast airwaves. Last weekend, it was my
wife's birthday. Now we talked about that, but it was
the culmination. And you know this, Danny, because you have
to deal with this as well. Not just a birthday,
it's birthday month, right, It's not just a day. It's

(05:04):
a whole month long celebration. There's parties, there's cake, there's balloons,
the whole thing. We had gotten back from New York.
We recorded the podcast, did the podcast, and then boom baby,
as the old Pacer broadcaster would say, we were on
a ferry. That's a boat, Danny. A ferry is a boat.

(05:26):
We went on the boat and headed out to the
Mighty Pacific, a thirty mile trip. It was not a
three hour tour. It takes about an hour to a
oasis right there in the Pacific. Beautiful Catalina the island
life for me, Danny. I love Catalina. We've talked about it.

(05:46):
I go, I tried to go once a year. I
didn't go last year. What's kind of the island life?

Speaker 2 (05:51):
Right?

Speaker 1 (05:51):
We've do As we've mentioned Catalina, you've been there. It's
a small, secluded island that is owned by the descendants
of William Wrigley, who at one point was one of
the richest people in America. Owned the Wrigley Bubblegum Company
and all that, and the Chicago Cubs, and in fact
they had, as we mentioned, you haven't heard before, the

(06:13):
owner of the Cubs put spring training on Catalina in
the nineteen twenties to try to promote his island, to
get people to go there, get publicity for the island,
all that stuff. So and they only have one town there, Avalon.
That's it. There's nothing. You're not allowed to go anywhere
else on the island. I think there's one other spot
on the island you can go to and you have

(06:35):
to take a boat. It drops you off at Avalon
and that's where you stay, right on the beach. I
did learn some fun facts, so you want to hear
some fun facts about Catalina.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
Yeah, it's kind of crazy that this comes up right
now because our middle kid, he went out to Catalina
with a few of his buddies and their parents and
they're staying at the I guess there's one big hotel
there in Avalon.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
There's a few hotels, but there's one big one and
then there's a few smaller ones. So yeah, so that's cool.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah, So as we speak, he's on his last day
there in Avalon.

Speaker 1 (07:10):
So I had never been until I was an adult,
I'd never been to Catalina, but I learned and I
liked that. You said you'd like to hear fun facts, Stanny,
because although I was gonna give them anyway, he really
had no choice, right, it was an obvious question. But
so Norma Jean Baker lived in Avalon for an entire year.
You know who, Norma Jean Baker is probably better by

(07:32):
her stage.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
Name, maryland Lynn Monroe.

Speaker 1 (07:36):
That's right, Marilyn Monroe. Her first husband was stationed on
Catalina during World War Two. How amazing must that have been?
If you were in the military and you were you
were in the Marines and you're stationed on Catalina. How
great is that?

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Yeah, it's like a little mini vacation.

Speaker 1 (07:56):
Yeah, there's been a bunch of Hollywood types that have
been out there all the way from like John Wayne
to Taylor Swift and everywhere in between. But then they
filmed a bunch of movies right. That's the famous story
about why they have buffalo on the island. It's a
great story. So in the nineteen twenties, they were filming
a movie. It was called Vanishing America, and so they

(08:18):
moved this big Hollywood film crew out there, and to
make it authentic, they brought fourteen bison from the Great Planes.
They shipped them these thousand down thousand pound bison. They
shipped them to this small island off of La Catalen Island,
and the plan was, Hey, when this thing gets done,
we're going to move the buffalo back to the planes

(08:40):
and we're not going to keep them here. Unfortunately, the
Hollywood budget ran out and they didn't have enough money
to even finish the movie at that time, so they
just left the buffalo. And how many generations? How long
do buffalo live?

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Do we know?

Speaker 1 (08:57):
I don't know how long buffalo live. You'd got to
think that's the second third generation buffalo. I don't know
how many there are on the island. But it is
kind of cool because you drive around some of the
back roads there and you will run across a buffalo
just kind of just having.

Speaker 4 (09:13):
A meal and just you live twenty years.

Speaker 1 (09:15):
Oh, that's it yeah, lived twelve oh man, so wait
a minute, they came.

Speaker 3 (09:19):
It says they can live to be older. But the
average lifespan is twenty years.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
All right, So I believe nineteen twenty four the buffalo
came to this Catalina island. So let's do the math.
That's like, man, and what are we like six generations
if they just live twenty years something like that.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Yeah, that's crazy more.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
Than that probably, Wow, they said there would be no math.
Take that for data. The highlight of the trip, I
rented a golf cart. As you know, Danny, there are
very few cars on this island, so Benny's buggy and
we cruised around just about every street. You can't go
on every street because they don't allow. But they actually
have learn this. I did not know this. They have

(10:01):
a a golf cart cop that rights citations. Yeah seriously,
And so this guy's like a narc. He drives around
on a golf cart and he writes down because every
cart's numbered, and he'll write down your number, and you'll
get a ticket if you go on the wrong road,

(10:21):
if you go too fast, if you don't stop when
you're supposed to stop, and all that stuff, and I
thought that was I was like, Wow, that's okay, that's
the gig. How about that job? You're running around writing
tickets in a fricking golf cart. But I had a
great time. It was fun. Me and the wife. We went,
we hung out, the family was there and it went
snorkeling near the Casino, which is the big theater there,

(10:41):
beautiful old building in Cantalina. And I did get a
gift on my way out of Catalina Danny something I
was reminded of of a kryptonite that I have. And
this is not a product of getting older. I've had
this since I was a kid. I can't put my
head underwater, can't I can, but if I get water

(11:03):
in my ear, i am totally getting the royal screw
job just does not go well. And I get I
don't know if it's swimmers here. I think I guess
technically it would be called swimmers ear. But I have
my right ear is my kryptonite. My right hand was
getting a workout and I've been dealing with this since

(11:26):
I was a kid. I actually had tubes in my
ears when I was a kid. And the career path
that I've chosen where I have to put headphones on
for pretty much twenty five hours a week if you
include the podcasting, the editing, the show, and not the
greatest decision for my hearing. So I know I'm gonna eat.
I'm a hearing aid. I'm trying to push it back

(11:48):
as long as I can. But the last week, so
when you have swimmers here, my version of swimmers here.
When I get water in my ear, the first thing
you notice is, boy, we're screwed. And then the second
thing it's it's kind of like constantly having an ear
plug in your one ear where you can barely hear
out of it, but the other ear is fine, which
is a problem. So it's like I always have it,

(12:10):
and I've I've used In fact, i'll show you right
now because you can see I have hydrogen peroxide here.

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Oh yeah.

Speaker 1 (12:16):
I have been pouring into my ear a couple times
a day to try to get rid of it, and
it does help. It bubbles everything up, all the gunk
that's in the ear from the bacteria and all that.
So that was my secluded island getaway. It was not
It was not comic Con, Danny. It was definitely not comic.

Speaker 3 (12:34):
Con as you can hear maybe a little bit and
see behind me. I'm not in my usual setting because
I'm actually in Las Vegas right now with the Covino
and Rich Show, because our big boss Dawn said, my man,
I'll need you to capture a couple of podcasts, my man.
For the NBA. There's gonna be a lot of nerds

(12:57):
in Las Vegas this weekend, Ben, but not comic book nerds,
not superhero nerds. NBA nerds.

Speaker 4 (13:05):
Oh me, oh boy. Yeah.

Speaker 3 (13:08):
So I guess the NBA's plan is they're going to
try to take Summer League and turn it into a
big event. And that's gonna include the Convention Center at
the Mandalay Bay, fifty NBA stars walking around signing autographs,
lots of different events going on surrounding the National Basketball Association.

(13:32):
We all may get the Zion Williamson treatment.

Speaker 1 (13:38):
Are you are they? Well? Yeah, I would think knowing
NBA events, and remember they had the All Star Game
in Vegas years ago and that turned out to like
a shootout at the Old West there the OK Corral
and all that. But yeah, it's gonna be crazy. I
wonder how much those guys are pitted. I saw some
of the names Kareem Abdul Jabbar. Kareem Abdul Jabbar is
a very surely human being. He's a total curmudgeon at

(14:00):
this point, and I wonder how much the NBA is
paying him to show up to that. I saw it
was Jerry West going to be making an appearance there.
They've got they've got live entertainment this weekend, and they're
they've got of course, merchandise sales, all kinds of, all
kinds of Do you know who you guys will be
interviewing this weekend? Have you have you gotten a tip

(14:24):
think of?

Speaker 3 (14:24):
It's kind of the way it was explained to me
is that it's going to be similar to Radio Row,
where they're just walking different options up to you and
you have to make a decision. So if I really
want to saddle Covino and Rich with a difficult interview,
as soon as they tell me Kareem is available, I'll
be like.

Speaker 4 (14:44):
I was a huge Kareem.

Speaker 3 (14:45):
Fan as a kid, but as you know, he's maybe
not the easiest guy to interview on the radio.

Speaker 1 (14:51):
No, we had Kareem when I did the Blitz with Looney.
We had Kareem abul Jabbar on on a Sunday. We
were so excited Looney, especially because he was a huge Laker,
you know, hologists and all that. And I one of
the first basketball games I ever went to as a kid.
My youth basketball team took me to the Forum and
it was a Laker game. It was after the game
we got to play on the court, and I remember

(15:13):
they walked all those kids down to the court. This
is in the showtime days of the Lakers. And I
was a little kid, and they walked us down to
the court and I walked by the basket as Kareem
did the sky hook, and as the eyes of a child,
it was like the most amazing thing. I thought. His
hand was hitting the roof of the Forum. It was

(15:35):
so high in the air, and it was like unbelievable.
I could believe it. And then as an adult, I had,
as I said, I Kareem on the show with Looney,
and we were so excited to have him on. And
then he could not have been less interested in being on.
In fact, he was eating lunch and he did not
stop eating lunch. He was eating a sandwich and he

(15:55):
kept eating the sandwich while he was answering the question.
You could hear him chewing. Fascinating and so that was
my experience interviewing Kareem abdul Jama. How much they must
be charging a fair amount to get into this thing, right,
this must be a pricey thing. The NBA must have
partnered with one of the Vegas promoters to do this.

(16:17):
But it's I such a manually bait, four hundred thousand
square feet and it's twice the size of the standard
All Star of Hey, this is.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Why the Summer League all know the details.

Speaker 3 (16:31):
In a couple of hours here, I need to make
my way to the convention center there, and our big
boss told me, he said.

Speaker 4 (16:38):
Danny, g my man, you are my point man for audio.

Speaker 1 (16:43):
Oh all right, well that's great. So you can have
now this is exciting. You could have like Clyde Drexler
selling toilet paper stop by for an interview, right, you
could have that. You could have you know, Bill Layan
Beard drop by and talk about what shoes he's wearing
because he's got bad feed or any old school and
well wait.

Speaker 3 (17:01):
A second, if the NBA is paying them to be there,
can they shill for a product?

Speaker 1 (17:06):
Well, anything as possible, Danny, as you know, right, you
can whore yourself out, and I'm not against that. I'm
in the horror yourself out business. He blew me off
at a hotel near Lax. The pirate's life for me,
A pirate's life for me, A pirate's life for me.
So I made my way back out to Blue Heaven

(17:28):
on Earth is the late great Tommy Lisora used to
call it Dodgers Stadium Chavez Ravine. But I did not
go to see the Dodgers, really. I went there to
see a friend of mine, a guy who I know
from the radio show.

Speaker 4 (17:39):
Ah, I saw this photo on your social media.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
Yeah, I posted a photo my friend. Robbie ink Mkowski
is his name, and he is the field reporter for
the Buckos, a real Yinzer. He used to work for
the Twins, but he has four years in Minnesota. He's
been in the baseball circuit for fifteen years. He's been
with the Pirates for eleven years. You know what baseball
He has watched at watching Pirate baseball for the last

(18:05):
eleven years. But he loves Pittsburgh and I actually met
him through the show. As I am proud to admit,
He's probably not as proud, but Robbie Mkowski is a
listener to the Overnight show. He's a big fan of
radio and he started listening to the show years ago.
And we actually met at the ballpark the first time.
He introduced himself, if I remember correctly, And even though

(18:27):
he's got a TV gig, he's a guy that loves
he really loves radio.

Speaker 4 (18:32):
Wow.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
And we were chatting and he told me that he
wants to get into radio. In fact, he's actually dabbling
a little bit. He said he's going to do some
weekend fill in shows at one of the legendary radio
stations in America. If you're a radio nerd, you know
this station is the most important station was at the
beginning of radio k d KA and Pittsburgh KDKA, which

(18:57):
I think is the only radio station which is east
of the Mississippi that has the k call letter because
they were the first commercially licensed station to broadcast on
the radio waves in nineteen twenty. They one on the
air in November of nineteen twenty and that started radio.

(19:18):
And now I know a lot of radios moved to
streaming and podcasting like what we're doing right here, but
that was the first official station, was KDKA, and they
also were the first station to broadcast obviously first they
did the first ever live sporting event, which was a
boxing match, a local boxing match at Pittsburgh. They also
did the first ever heavyweight championship fight, which I think

(19:39):
was a Jack Dempsey fight. They had the first ever
baseball game on the radio was on KADIKA. I think
it was nineteen twenty one. They did the first football
game on radio. I mean all that stuff. Anyway, it
was cool. We were like talking. He was telling me
about KDKA a little bit and the stuff he was
doing there, and he's a really cool dude. Hopefully that

(20:00):
goes well for him and all that. So we were
talking about little inside radio, how we make the hot dogs, Danny,
you know what I'm saying. Well, a couple of guys
talking radio, and he introduced me to a bunch of
the people from the traveling party for the Pirates, which
is cool. I met a bunch of Pittsburgh guys, and
some of the guys were talking about how they were
staying at a hotel in downtown Los Angeles this week

(20:22):
there was an anime convention going on. Gy Yeah, and
so they were fascinated by the case play that was
happening at the hotel. But if I remember correctly, Danny,
isn't Pittsburgh home of like one of the largest furry conventions.
I've heard that that there's like a legendary furrery convention

(20:44):
that takes place in.

Speaker 4 (20:45):
Pittas that you heard that, you freak.

Speaker 1 (20:47):
Well, you know, and in my spare time, we don't
talk about that on the podcast, but you know, I
just kind of leave that alone there.

Speaker 4 (20:54):
Yeah. I mean when I think of Pittsburgh, I think
of Willie Stargel.

Speaker 1 (20:58):
Pops Pops Guy hit the two home runs out of
Dodger Stadium completely.

Speaker 3 (21:04):
We are family Pirates. As a little kid, I used
to think those uniforms were pretty nice.

Speaker 1 (21:10):
Yeah, they popped. The Pirate old school uniforms popped. Actually,
this triggered a thought. I was watching this week if
you want to what kind of loser I am. When
I'm on the treadmill at the gym, I flipped on
YouTube and I found the entire broadcast of the nineteen
seventy one All Star Game, which was played at Tiger Stadium,

(21:33):
and it was it was fascinating seeing how as before
I was around and all that, seeing how the game
was broadcast. It was one of the early still early
in broadcasting as far as sports, mainstream sports television in
the early nineteen seventies, and so it was very raw.

(21:56):
But some of the names. The guy that threw out
the first pitch at the nineteen seventy one All Star
Game was a guy who made his debut in the
major leagues in nineteen twenty four. Charlie Gerringer, a famous
baseball name from back in that year. I was before
we were around. I've heard I heard the name when
I was a kid. But this old man, Charlie Gerringer,

(22:18):
throwing out the first pitch, and they had just these
really hokey things. They had the commercials on the YouTube feed.
It was pretty pretty well. But the All Star Game itself,
Vita Blue pitched against doc Ellis, and every time I
saw doc Ellis, I thought of not him pitching, I
thought of him doing LSD and pitching that famous story

(22:41):
when he was in I think it was in San
Diego with the pirates and they'd gone to La on
an off day and with some friends. He's from La
doc Ellis and they did LSD and he didn't He
wasn't supposed to pitch. They drove him to San Diego
and he had to pitch because the other guy just
couldn't pitch, if I remember correctly, And he pitched, but
he started that game. The lineup for the nationally had

(23:03):
Willie Mays leading off. Henry Aaron was batting second. I mean,
it's something. Willie McCovey was in the line. This is
the biggest names that could possibly be out there anyway.
That just popped in my head, Daddy. That's a that's
known as a bit of a non sequitor, but it
popped away. So we have a little bit of asking.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
Yeah, you were asking about the Furry Convention in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (23:23):
Yeah, yeah, is there? Did you look it up? Have
you done some recon on that?

Speaker 2 (23:28):
No?

Speaker 4 (23:28):
I was riveted.

Speaker 3 (23:29):
I I was totally entranced by your conversation about your
YouTube viewing there.

Speaker 4 (23:37):
I mean, the Furry Convention.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Nothing nothing comes up on that.

Speaker 3 (23:42):
Ooh yeah, twenty twenty four. They're already looking forward to
next year's.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
You got a plan ahead. You got a plan ahead.
You gotta get your costume ready. There's a lot that
goes into it.

Speaker 4 (23:52):
It's called anthrocon.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Is that right? Is that right?

Speaker 4 (23:56):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:57):
Okay, all right, and how much does that cost?

Speaker 3 (24:00):
That's a good question, but it says can a twelve
year old go to anthrocon?

Speaker 4 (24:05):
That's the first thing that pops up. Oh boylive.

Speaker 3 (24:10):
If you are under eighteen years old at the time
of the convention, you need permission from your parents or
legal guardian in order to attend.

Speaker 1 (24:17):
Oh my gosh, keep away from the creepsters. All right,
we have backscratcher. Here we go backscratcher this week? Did
we have one review? Did we have three reviews or
no reviews?

Speaker 4 (24:33):
Danny? What do you think I'm gonna say?

Speaker 1 (24:36):
Uno, Well, I am happy to report that we had
on the fourth of July three, we had a three
spot of reviews. These are actual listeners to the podcast
that have taken time out to go to the Apple
podcast page, which is podcast dot Apple dot com and
then it's in the description Danny, right, people can find
as we talk about every week. For those that are

(24:56):
new to the show, you can click on that that
helps us out. It's it's kind of it's kind of important.
So if you have a chance to do that, it
does help us out. So this is from Farmer Charles.
He says, five star podcast, Ben Mather and Danny G
will capture your hearts and minds chopping it up on

(25:17):
the fifth hour. These guys provide hours of entertainment that
will get you through any weekend. Download and listen and
enjoy great interviews and discourse on the everyday life and
times of Ben and Danny and all the other shenanigans.
I hope I'm doing this right. You gotta listen to
the fifth hour or you're missing out. Charles. That was great.

(25:38):
That was nicer than anything anyone's ever written from the
company about this podcast, So thank you for that. We
also have Pana Pana I think is the name. Oh no,
excuse me, boy, I screwed that up. That's that's the
next one. This one is from Marcy in Little Old Whitney,
Texas and I have to do some recon on Whitney, Texas.

(25:59):
But Marcia Resident says, love been and Danny G. I
don't miss an episode. I've listened for many years back
when West of the four oh five was on. Danny G.
Has been a great addition. Keep up the great and
entertaining content. Well, thank you. I appreciate that. You'll see Whitney,
Texas have I heard, I've heard of Late Whitney. You

(26:20):
think Whitney, Texas is near Late Whitney. You think those
two things are related?

Speaker 4 (26:25):
Not sure, I don't know.

Speaker 1 (26:27):
Let's see Whitney, Texas. Uh popul Oh, my population. You
want to take a guess the population of Whitney, Texas
last census, Dan, you want to take a.

Speaker 4 (26:36):
Shot one thousand, three hundred and six.

Speaker 1 (26:42):
Well, you actually win because you didn't go over one thousand,
nine hundred and ninety two. Yeah, we're only off by
like less than seven hundred. The city is three miles
east of Late Whitney. There you go, so I was
kind of right. Yeah. The Amazon Prime original movie The
Vast of Night, I have no idea what that is,

(27:03):
but it was apparently shot in that town, and.

Speaker 4 (27:08):
Probably not the only thing shot in that town.

Speaker 1 (27:11):
It's an old western town. I'm trying to anybody famous
come out of there. Somebody named Tommy Duncan, country musician,
founding member of the Texas Playboys, who no idea.

Speaker 4 (27:24):
What that is?

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Heard of them? John Prentice, cartoonist and comic book artist,
best known for the forty three year on a comic
strip rip Kirby. Hmm, I don't know what that is either.
Let me look. I'm clicking on the thing here, Rip Kirby.
You know, it kinda looks a little the drawing of

(27:48):
the character looks a little familiar. It's about a private detective,
The Adventures of a Private Detective, Rip Kirby.

Speaker 4 (27:55):
Oh yeah, old school, Yeah, like a mystery comics.

Speaker 1 (28:00):
That's one of those things that you flash back to
when you were a kid, back when they these things
called newspapers, and you're like, I kind of vaguely remember
when I was looking at the the Family I was
looking at the Peanuts cartoon and then what was it?
It was the family one with the kids. Which cartoon
I forget the name of that one, but anyway, whatever
the cartoons I was looking at the time, and then
you'd see that other one, but I wasn't youthing to that.

(28:22):
So but anyway, thank you Marcy from.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
When you were using your silly buddy to press it
down up against the newspaper.

Speaker 1 (28:30):
You gotta do what you gotta do. You gotta do
what you gotta do, our last one on this wonderful backscratcher,
We thank you for this. It does mean a lot, seriously,
and I know it's a pain in the ass, I
get it, but it does help us out. This one
titled rarely miss an Episode. My brother in law, who
listens live every night, recommended the show and I started

(28:54):
podcasting it and now I rarely miss an episode. Very nice.
This is from Pana Gee. I guess we'll call the
person they didn't send their name. Especially love the fifth
hour and the listener's letters. Thanks for consistent excellence. Highly
recommend this show man. These are very nice reviews here.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Dad, Yeah, thank you for all three of those.

Speaker 1 (29:17):
We haven't read a douchebag review in months.

Speaker 4 (29:19):
It's been a while, and.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
Now that'll inspire somebody to send one out that will,
of course upset us.

Speaker 4 (29:25):
Great.

Speaker 1 (29:26):
So it is Saturday today. You're in Vegas, Danny? So
are you gonna be there all weekend long? Are you
coming back to LA on Sunday? You wait until Monday?
What's the travel itinerary?

Speaker 2 (29:36):
There?

Speaker 1 (29:36):
Are they paying for your hotel? Do you have to
sleep on the street? What's all that?

Speaker 3 (29:40):
No, the nice NBA folks are paying for my hotel,
so that's all taken care of. Get a small stipend
each day for food, So we'll see what kind of trouble.
I can get into at the buffet today after the
podcast for Gottlieb and then CNR and then two pots
cast tomorrow same thing.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
So a total of four shows for me to help produce.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
And how are those shows going to be short? They
can be short, right, podcasting be twenty five minutes, thirty minutes.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
They're giving each podcast a ninety minute window.

Speaker 1 (30:17):
Oh, that's actually pretty long.

Speaker 4 (30:19):
Yeah it is.

Speaker 1 (30:20):
It's a long. That's a lot of filler, Danny, that's
a lot of kareem. That's uh, yeah, you'll get about
ten minutes out of kareem. That'll be all right. We'll
get out on That is so obviously Saturday for me
as well. I've got absolutely nothing going on. I think
I'll do a little baking today, that's the plan. I'll
make some cookies so Eddie can shoot on them next
week and talking about how crappy they are. I don't
know which cookies I'm gonna make. I haven't decided yet.

(30:42):
I may make my crumble cookie, my ripoff crumble sugar cookie.
I might do that. But anyway, I have a great
rest of your day today if you're listening live on Saturday.
Although I know a lot of people listen later in
the week, so whenever you're listening, just enjoy, enjoy the day.
And we got another fresh pot. I guess the mail
bag coming up on Sunday, and we may also have

(31:03):
time depending on it for pop goes to the culture,
so we'll see if we have time for that. We'll
catch you next time. Have a wonderful, glorious day.

Speaker 4 (31:11):
