What is going on? Everybody? John Middlecoff Three and Out
podcast just watched a little Sunday Night football, Kirk Cousins
looking like Peyton Manning. What a performance by the new
Atlantic quarterback coming off in Achilles, throw us for over
five hundred yards and just eviscerated Tampa. Baker Mayfield was
(02:23):
no slouch either, He was really good and just a
crazy fourth quarter fumbles fourth and fifteen which was pretty insane,
some penalties and then they had to pump back and
go over it all. Obviously, overtime I do. I don't
have the right answer for overtime, and I'm not like
(02:44):
super worked up about a touchdown wins the game. But
I don't know. Shouldn't we just make the same thing universal,
Like overtime in the playoffs is the same as the
regular season. Is anyone gonna complain about that? I get
long season, and it's just the playoffs a somewhat different.
But in football, all these games matter, you know. I
(03:07):
would Tampa have ever been able to stop anybody? Probably not,
so it might not even have mattered. But I don't know,
what a what a crazy night though, I'm not gonna
let We're not going to dive into that. So we'll
dive into Baker, We'll dive into Cousins. We'll also dive
into uh, you know these wide receivers. Is trading for
a wide receiver even good business in twenty twenty four?
(03:30):
Don't we have enough evidence that it doesn't change that
much paying premiums and trading a lot for them. Obviously
huge game with the Jets in Minnesota. We'll have a
male not a mail bang. Actually, Stucky will join us
as he does every Thursday. It's Fugazi Friday. So I
got a Fugazi that actually might be a reverse for
Gazi my Starbucks some I've noticed. I don't know if
(03:52):
it's the new CEO, but the changes might be happening.

to some football, you know, I got to tell you
about my friends, my partners in the official ticketing app

little college football game, little Red River rivalry. And if

you want to go to any game, any game. I
had the Mets game on at halftime Pete Alonzo boot
game winning home run. It was sweet. And if you
want to go to a game, a World Series game,
a playoff game, you name it. If you live in
one of these regions. Obviously, football, the NBA starting back

(05:18):
That game was bananas. It really was. There wasn't much
defense being played, but the end of that game was crazy.
It's hard because you're like, oh, that's what I'm gonna
go all in on. When it was fourth and fifteen
after really the Bucks were driving. To end the game,
Bucky Irving fumbles. Great play by Baits, who is just
(05:42):
a stut I mean that guy, what a great signing
two years ago by the Atlanta Falcons. But they get
the fumble, so they get the ball back down three
with two forty eight. Then that drives a disaster. Yet
they still have three timeouts and they decided to go
forward on fourth fifteen, which at the time that's what
I thought I was gonna lead the podcast with, because
(06:04):
I'm like, listen, this is insane. You're only down a
field goal, punt the ball, try to play defense and
you don't need to go the whole field. Then the
Bucks have a disastrous drive. Obviously there was an uncalled
face mask, but there was also a holding, so really
those should have offset. But still there was no guarantee
they were getting into field goal range, and even if
(06:24):
they did, it was gonna be a long field goal.
But then they have to punt the ball back goes
into the end zone. Cousins with the great drive, they
don't have any timeouts. That's multiple big time drives in
big spots this year for him. Obviously the Eagle game
and he hits Drake London on the play where you're like, God,
it's pretty risky. You're looking at the clock, you're looking
(06:45):
at them, try to snap it. They get it off.
Then they take a delay of game where it's like
they're waiting for the referee, and even the referee in
the booth with Alan Herbie's like, I don't know what
they're waiting for and you're thinking, but if he misses
this field goal, he would have missed a field goal
where actually he missed two because there was an offsides
(07:08):
You rarely see that usually when a guy missed the
field goal, but there's like a penalty and then they
get another shot, they usually make it. He missed them both.
He had one blocked, not totally his fault. The dude
went untouched and one of the easiest field goal blocks
you'll ever see. And then you're thinking, listen, I don't
know exactly who the delay of game all is on,
(07:28):
but you know it's that unit. So when you're the kicker,
you're the star of the field goal unit. So you're thinking, geez,
they're gonna lose with this disastrous field goal unit. He
bangs it right down the middle, they go to ot,
they win the coin toss. Once they won the coin toss.
The Buccaneers defense, I don't know exactly. Obviously, they're missing
(07:48):
two starting safeties. Their dbs were getting shredded all night
and cousins bang bang boom, and they score a touchdown
with a guy Hodge who I think he had first
catch this season tonight, and a guy that you know
you think of Drake London, who's having a huge night.
Kyle Pitts comes out of you know, witness Protection tonight
(08:11):
have some moments. Darnell Mooney has really kind of become
cousins go to guy. He also had a moment early
in the game or late in the game down the
stretch I think with like five or six minutes to
go where he's coming on like a deep comeback, Cousins
has to get rid of the ball a little early,
probably because he's about to get taken out. I think
(08:33):
everyone on their couch is like, you got to catch that.
By the time he turns around, the ball can't be
that far away from it's coming. He drops it. Herbstreet
says he would have scored I'd say fifty to fifty.
Who knows. I know he had a little inside track,
but that assumes he would know where to cut. But regardless,
that looks like a devastating drop. Just just absolutely bananas.
(08:56):
And like I said, that was I'm thinking tonight when
it felt like multiple times in the fourth quarter, the
Buccaneers are gonna win. You're like they're about to go
four and one. They just beat you in Atlanta, You're
gonna fall to two and three, so you're gonna be
two games behind them. Though I looked at the Buccaneer schedule,
I think next week they play the Ravens. It's not
necessarily easy, but you're just like God, this is a
(09:19):
huge swing game, and then you end up winning it.
And while you still have to play go to Tampa
and go to New Orleans, you did take care of
business against them both at home. I will assume that
Atlanta's gonna sweep Carolina. So that's just a massive win
and there is no way around it. What a fucking
(09:41):
game by Kirk Cousins. That's as good as it gets.
I don't even care what your name is. Tom Brady
Peyton manning Aaron Rodgers forty two of fifty eight for
five hundred yards. Now, obviously that last play, he took
it the majority of the way, but how many deep
outs deep comebacks just strikes down the field. And I
(10:01):
get Tampa's playing awful defense, but he was just consistently
peppering guys in stride. Both The quarterback play tonight was
really really good. They both probably especially Baker missed a
couple that he would like to have back, but that
was really really high level quarterback play tonight, and we
(10:22):
saw as we see every week, when you hit him
and you can make a move, huge advantage because movement
is not something Cousins can do. But like Jay Gruden
said when he came on the podcast whatever three weeks ago,
there probably aren't many better seven on seven quarterbacks in
the NFL. So when he has time and he has
(10:43):
a clean pocket, he can eviscerate you. And even the
one pick, it was fourth and fifteen. I all picks
are not equal, and I listen, what was he supposed
to do? Take a sack? Right? He had to get
rid of the ball. Now, it was a relative easy pick,
but I think that's kind of a crazy call by
the coaching staff. But regardless you remove that play, that
(11:07):
was what an eligue game by Kirk Cousins. It really was.
That was that was a masterpiece. And this was a
guy that I questioned coming into the season, like this
thing could get weird. You draft this quarterback really high.
He's answered the bell, and he's answered the bell hard early.
Right the Philly moment when he drives him down the
field last week, pushing the ball down the field, getting
(11:29):
the big PI where really Mooney was opened down the
sideline before he got taken out, and tonight kind of
was just a masterpiece at home in that crowd. Arthur
Blank just I think every single week this season, maybe
every single week til Arthur, you know, no longer graces
our presence. They're just gonna induct someone to the Hall
(11:51):
of Fame a couple of weeks ago as him. Tonight
is Matty Ice, next week it'll be the ball Boy.
Following it'll be who knows. You know, you just never
know where Arthur Blank's gonna go. But that place was rocking.
And Kirk Cousins, I mean, let's face it, their defense
in the first half of that game was getting shredded.
(12:13):
I mean, Baker Mayfield, I'm thinking tonight through that first half.
I mean, they gave three touchdowns in the first half
and they only had thirty points going to overtime. So
defensively they did much better job. Obviously the fumble they
caused was huge, But I'm thinking to night watching Baker
Mayfield and Kirk Cousins. But Kirk Cousins, you know, he
signed a relatively shorter deal, I think one hundred million
(12:35):
dollars guaranteed He's thirty six years old, coming off the
Achilles Baker, obviously a little bit of a one year
wonder resurrecting his career. Tampa wanted to keep him. I
looked at his contract, three years, one hundred million dollars,
twenty eight million dollars signing bonus, and fifty million dollars guaranteed.
So on average, he makes like thirty three million dollars.
And think about the other two quarterbacks in the state
(12:57):
of Florida. Trevor Lawrence gets two hundred million dollars and
TUA got to think like one hundred and seventy million
dollars guaranteed. Obviously Tua is better than Trevor Lawrence, but
he's ko and who knows his career is completely in flux.
And Trevor Lawrence objectively is one of the worst three
or four quarterbacks right now in the NFL. And then
you get this guy who you got for fifty million
(13:19):
dollars guaranteed, who has just completely resurrected his career. I
mean those guys like if I would have told you
a couple of years ago when he was in Carolina,
because Cousins now has been good for a while, I
mean tonight's like one of his crowning achievements. I mean,
it's by far the most most yards he's ever thrown for.
I think they said on the broadcast for sixty was
(13:39):
the previous number. Like that's that's as good as any
Like I said, any quarterback can play, but you watch Baker.
One thing Baker brings the table that Cousins doesn't bring
to the table is the movement element. Obviously throwing on
the run, and he was really really he was dominant
in that first half. I mean the touchdown he had
to Sterling Shepard, his college teammate. That's as good of
(14:01):
a throw as you'll see in that situation. Because in
the red zone, the field obviously, I mean, this isn't
breaking Loosier is a lot wider than it is deep.
So precision and timing are a must. We sometimes down
the field routes. You saw it tonight with both quarterbacks.
You don't have to beat on time perfect. You can
still have your guy make a play bail you out.
(14:22):
There's just not much moving room in that red zone situation.
And that throw was awesome. But what a night. Not
a great night for the defense, especially Todd Bowles and
his secondary who just got absolutely shredded. But it's you know,
it's fun, right because Cousins now kind of is what
been well established I would say these last three or
(14:43):
four years, is a really just high end player. Now
he's never been considered a top five guy, but he's
I would say, pretty consistent, falling in the category if
somewhere like eight to twelve, and a guy if you
do a good enough job building your team, like you
can make the playoffs with and there's o a ton
of value there and people really really like him. And
to me, the Baker story is really cool. I mean,
(15:05):
this guy was I was thinking tonight, like if you're
John Dorsey and you're watching on your couch, like, that's
the guy that I drafted number one overall. The swag,
the talent, I don't I don't know if he's actually thinner,
but he definitely looks like he's moving around better than
he did in his younger career, you know, his first
couple of years. Obviously. You know there was a scene
(15:28):
today or I mean a visual when they were walking
off the field. I think it was on an incompletion
on third down when Chris Godwin and Mike Evans. I mean,
these guys are championship players. I mean Mike Evans is
going straight to the Hall of Fame, and Chris Godwin
has to be one of the better, you know, third
down possession type wide receivers in the league. And they're
(15:49):
just both walking side by side. It actually might have
been after he was sacked and might have been the
play where he was shaken off his knee, but it's
like they really like this guy and they got something
going now that secondary and that defense. They got to
get that figured out. They need to get guys healthy.
It's not the end of the world as a loss,
even as a divisional opponent, given it's the road game.
(16:09):
But I think it's a much bigger win for Atlanta
than it is a bad loss for Tampa. But it
definitely hurts because they had the ball in position to
kind of ice the game, and a fumble kills you
when they're running backs actually like that. Remember two years
ago with Tom his last season, and this is where
I think Baker was alluding to, because I bet Jason
light and Todd were kind of telling him like it
(16:30):
was just not negative, but they just had some serious flaws.
They were I think historically one of the worst rushing
teams in the history of league. They might technically be
the worst. And now with White and Irving, it's like
they got a couple of running backs. You know, obviously
they both can catch, they run really hard between the tackles.
They're both quick, so you can give it to them
on sweeps. Autumn's a very solid tight end. You got
(16:54):
Evans and Godwin and now Shepherd's pretty solid. Looks like
he's resurrecting his career. Like offensively, they're pretty damn good,
you know. I Mean, i'd say the same thing about Atlanta,
but it's weird late in the game, and I think
even overtime. Who's in there? Where's Bijon know where to
be found? Where's Bjon know where to be found? And
I don't quite understand that. I think we have to
(17:14):
admit if they would have a do over on the
Kyle Pitts draft pick, they would take a do over.
And it's just he wasn't bad to night by any mean.
He's actually more productive than he usually is. But I
think you kind of realize when you watch him play
he's kind of a bizarre player because he can't his
blocking is a zero out of one hundred. You know,
(17:35):
if like George Kittle or Gronk is like a ninety
five Kelsey just on effort throughout his career, is probably
somewhere in the middle. Like this guy's a zero, brings nothing,
but he's not quite quick enough to just spread outside,
so you kind of have to motion him around and
ideally get him on a small dB. But usually these
nickel DB's they're changing direction and their explosions really quick,
(18:00):
and so he basically has to win on size or
if they're in zone coverage, just kind of sit there.
But let's face it, I mean they're actually lucky. This
Mooney signing looks to be really good because he's come
right in with Drake London and Ray Ray McLeod is
pretty good signing too. He's been watching his career with
the Niners and he's he's a good player, so it's
(18:23):
kind of crazy that they're not. They didn't phase Pits
out of the game this week, but I think you
kind of see he's just a role player, not the
number four overall player. But luckily because of their talent
and really because of their quarterback and his ability to
kind of spread the ball around and he clearly really
likes Mooney as well as London. That's not gonna kill him.
(18:43):
And god, that was just my heart's pounded. That was.
We've had some duds on Thursday Night. We've had We've
had some difficult watches, especially down the stretch. And I've
admitted this over the years, the NFC South isn't exactly
my go to division, but I think it's pretty fun.
This year, it really is. Atlanta is clearly a lot
(19:05):
more interesting. Adding Cousins, Baker Mayfield is just a fun
watch in that offense. And obviously New Orleans, who has
a big game this week against the Chiefs, who you
guys know that that I picked to win the division,
which is not gonna be easy. Me. We got some
work to do, especially you know, I don't feel great.
They're gonna win this week, so we got we gotta
(19:26):
start digging ourselves out of a hole. But man, that
was fun. Okay. I wanted to dive into something that
obviously gets a lot of headlines. And DeVante Adams requesting
(19:49):
a trade and is gonna get traded and will eventually
get traded, and obviously he's on the Raiders because he
got traded to them for a first and second round
pick same offseason, along with Tyreek Hill first and a
bunch of Both of them got a bunch of money,
and I think we all have to acknowledge that trading
a lot for a wide receiver does not get you much.
(20:12):
It really doesn't, you know, when I think of the
best wide receiver moves obviously drafting them and extending them
and keeping you on your team, But when you trade
for someone else's wide receiver. Let's look at the Raiders,
they have been a joke since DeVante has been on
the team. Let's look at the Miami Dolphins. We widely
(20:34):
consider Tyreek Hill. The players just voted him the best
player in the league. He's one of the greatest wide
receivers of all time, definitely one of the most unique
players in NFL history. That team hasn't sniffed a big win,
let alone a division title, let alone a playoff victory
since they've had him on the squad. So I get
(20:56):
it makes headlines, and I'm all for the position. It
does matter. Vikings are four to zero justin Jefferson's been great.
You go around the league like you've got to have
good wide receivers. I'm not saying they're relevant. The Chiefs
are an outlier situation, but I think we need to
be careful about Like the Jets now, they'll probably end
(21:18):
up with DeVante. Aaron Rodgers is running a show. Their
chips are all in the middle of the table. But
some of these other teams, even if you can get
them relatively cheap, it only costs you a third rounder
because of the financial situation of his contract of salary
caps base, of all the different variables. Aren't you better
off taking a deep breath waiting and seeing what defensive
(21:40):
players become available, because this doesn't guarantee you a damn thing,
and you'd be renting them. I get why the Jets
have to do it. Their coach, their quarterback. They're just
all in and if it doesn't work, it's all over
and every one of them's fired. The coach is fired,
the GM's fired. If Rogers missed the play, who knows,
maybe he just retires and goes to do ayahuasca in Egypt.
(22:04):
But this notion that like and listen, I get excited
for it. It's great headlines. I remember when both these
guys were traded. If you could do it over again.
You could argue, well, the Dolphins, he's been important, like yeah,
but for what now that's made them relevant? Like that
They've won some games, but they can't win the division. Honestly,
(22:25):
it hasn't even been that close. And last year they
started with like a three lap lead. I mean, the Raiders,
no one would argue that if they could do it
over again, they one hundred percent would have turned down
this trade. It's been a disaster for them because you
have to overpay these guys now, you just do. When
(22:47):
you have to pay a wide receiver thirty thirty five
forty million dollars here soon, you better be very careful.
And if he's your guy, totally understand it. And I
get why the Minnesota Vikings pay Justin Jefferson. Hell, I
didn't even agree with Brandon Ayuk. I'm like, you know,
I probably just move on. I don't love paying this
(23:07):
guy this much money, but I do understand it. You
drafted him, he's produced for you. But like when a
guy's available, when are other people that make a ton
of money in the NFL ever available? When are top
pass rushers ever like TJ Watt Khalil Mack getting traded
is an all time outlier situation, Aaron. These guys never
(23:29):
get traded ever when are like, you know, great left
tackles on the never happens. Laramie Tunzel got traded to
the Houston Texans. Why because they were trying to tank
for Burrow and then Floor's at the end of the
season refused and led him to Tua instead of Joe Burrow.
But like this, trading for wide receivers gets a lot
(23:50):
of headlines. I think we could argue it's pretty bad
for business. I'm I'm excited for this game. I'm disappointed
it's at the time because for those of us on
the West coast nine thirty eastern, six thirty Pacific kickoff,
it's you know, I like turning on my football at
(24:10):
ten am on Sundays, but listen, it could be could
be digging ditches. I do think this game's pretty interesting
because I was listening to Belichick, who has like seventeen podcasts,
and he does like this video podcast with Lombardi and Patricia.
Patricia speaks to Belichick like you would your father or
(24:31):
your boss. It's just it's just clear who the alpha
is and clear who the bait is. And Patricia says nothing.
It's like, I mean, it says nothing. It's like, Matt,
you're not in the NFL right now, you're sitting with
Bill and Lombardi, who are willing to say you talk
like you're at the podium for a team you're you're not.
You got run out of the league and you'll go
(24:52):
back when Bill takes you. But you're allowed to give
your actual opinion on things, not just the cookie cutter,
boring ass version you're in the quote unquote media. Now, buddy,
give me something. Every time when it's Lombardi, Belichick and
Patria they go to Patricia, I'm like, oh my god,
cut off it, like one of the debates. Cut off
(25:13):
the mic, cut off the mic, because listen, I know
for a fact, like every human being, you have opinions,
you just refuse to give them. Even Bill, you can
tell like early on in this he was letting him fly.
I think he knows I'm coming back here relatively soon.
But he'll still pick a spots, he'll still say some things.
But one thing he mentioned for Minnesota is that Minnesota
(25:37):
so far through four games, has had the lead in
all but four minutes, all but four minutes. If you
do the math, four games sixty minutes, that's two hundred
and forty minutes. So they have completely controlled every game
they've been in. All of their sacks except one have
come from the lead, so they have completely bout rads
(26:00):
and own people from the jump. Right. If you're watching
one of these UFC fights and a dude gets clipped
thirty seconds in and it just rattles in the rest
of the fight, he's kind of on the defense. And
that's what the Ravens have done the last two weeks.
They've come out of the gates like gangbusters. To me,
the way for the Jets to have a chance to
(26:22):
win this game, Like one thing we've learned, when they
get into a little adversity, zero faith. They have no
sweat equity together. I don't even know if they like
each other that much. They will fold like a fucking
cheap ten. But the one way they can win, especially
against this team who is humming, is make them fight
through some adversity. I think the only way the Jets
(26:44):
can win this game is if they come out the
gates and get an early lead and gain control of
the game in the first quarter. If they're up like
ten to nothing or thirteen to three or something at
the end of the first quarter, I think they would
have a chance. But I see zero ability for them
to get down against the Vikings because the Vikings are
(27:04):
not comfortable playing this way. They are dominating playing this way.
They get an early lead, a touchdown or two, and
then they suffocate you, even if you have a comeback
like the Packers just did, too little, too late, And
I promise you the Jets would not be able to
stomach a comeback like the Packers just did. So if
the Jets and Aaron Rodgers are gonna win this game,
(27:26):
because let's face it, they are on the roller coaster season.
When they win, everyone will just give them a nice
little slurp job, give them a nice little tink tickle.
When they lose, it'll feel like everyone's getting fired at
any moment. And that's just what they've signed up for.
And this could be an awesome win. It really could
(27:48):
you beat the four to zero Vikings who passed the
eye test, pass the statistcal test, past the coaching test.
You know, the last two quarterbacks ironically in this game
back Player of the Year Geno Smith. Last year, Joe
Flacco this year, Sam Darnold, I mean three former Jets quarterbacks.
(28:09):
But I don't know. I think the only way the
Jets can win this game is to get an early lead,
and not just like you know, three nothing or six nothing.
I'm talking like double, like multiple scores. Can you be
up ten to nothing at the end of the first
quarter where it's like, Okay, let's see the Vikings, who
(28:29):
have just not been down literally at all this season.
Let's see like no one can argue or dispute what
we've witnessed them do. But when you're always playing from
in front, like it's easy to you know, I could
walk into any bar in America and pick on the
no matter who's in the bar, if Trent Williams is
(28:50):
sitting right next to me, or if I walked into
the bar with Chuck Lydell on my back shoulder. But
can feel invincible doesn't feel the same when you just
walk in by yourself. You might not be picking the
same fights and not saying some guys might be able
to handle their own, some guys might not be able
to handle their own. And I want to just learn
(29:10):
that about the Vikings And maybe this is just a
year where ninety percent of the games they just jump
on top and they just take over before we get
out of here. Obviously it's Fugazi Friday and one Fugazi
we've talked a lot about. When we first instituted Fugazi Fridays,
the number one thing was tipping, which is obviously problematic
(29:32):
in this great country we live in. Well, recently Starbucks
shit can their CEO that their stock was in the tank.
Obviously you went there. They were out of whack. I
mean the company needed a reset, and they hired this
guy from Chipotle who actually had come from Taco Bell.
(29:52):
Really impressive in his deal. I mean he got like
a twenty million dollars signing bonus. He gets to work
from home the headquarters that they they put a bunch
of people down with him in Newport. If he does
fly up to the headquarters in Seattle, they got the PJ.
It's only a couple of days a week. It's a
great deal. I mean, it's he's good. He's already claimed,
like you know, every morning I work out, I get
(30:12):
to the office, he does like a nine to four.
He's got This guy's a badass. I've gone through the
Starbucks line twice in the last week and forever. They'd
hand you if you pay with card, right the card reader,
and when they hand you the card reader, obviously it's
like thirty fifty, one hundred percent tip. The last two
(30:36):
times she's taken my card, handed me my two ventie
ice coffees and just pay ten bucks or twelve bucks
or whatever they came out to be. Tip option wasn't there.
I'm not saying Starbucks has gotten rid of the fugazi
of tipping on fifteen dollars coffees, because I can't speak
(30:57):
for every Starbucks in America, but I know the one
I go to here in North Scottsdale. I wonder if
there has been a company mandate to throw this out,
to end this long running, long standing fugazi in America.
And the other one I've seen that I noticed last
night I was watching the Padre who they planted the
(31:17):
Braves Padre swept them to nothing the series, the little
mini series, right, so now they're going on to the
next round. And that place in downtown San Diego was
just awesome, and it made me think the Chargers should
still be in San Diego. It's just one of the
great American cities. I knew so many San diego Ins
(31:40):
who were just great Charger fans. And you see the
vibe and the buzz when the Padres are playing like
they're just so irrelevant in LA and I get it.
Maybe it meant a little more money to Dean's pocket.
They built this great practice facility in El Segundo. Nobody.
Jim Harbaugh is one of the most legendary football coaches
(32:04):
of my lifetime and just football personality, so they got
a lot going for him. They got a lot going
for him. They will never matter in Los Angeles. They
just will not. It's just never gonna happen. And they
had a place that was pretty special. And I get
it there were issues with the government. I'm not pretending
(32:26):
like it was some perfect situation that they just flipped
up the middle finger, but them being LA just it's
never gonna truly work. I mean, how the Rams when
they play certain teams are getting out drawn in their
home stadium seventy to thirty so and they were in
Los Angeles for a long period of time. Did it?
(32:46):
Just like San Diego, Man, that just that sucks, That
really sucks. I wish the Chargers were still down there
because it just it just fit. It really did. Okay,
(33:10):
back at it again with my main man, Stucky from
the Action Network. I was just watching him on YouTube
with a little Sunday six pack, seeing some of his
favorite bets. This week, you actually agree on one. All
Lines Today presented by DraftKings. It is week five in
(33:31):
the National Football League. It's week six technically in college football.
So we're off and running. Can you know? Sometimes when
I say that out loud, I start to get like
the Sunday Scaries. I'm like, we're moving too fast, We're
getting too close to the end. I mean, it just
flies by, Stucky. Let's let's give a hat tip to
you the Baltimore Ravens, who you absolutely loved him in
(33:54):
that spot and they brought I mean, the game was
over relatively fair, definitely after the trick play failed for
Joe Brady. And let's give a hat tip to myself,
bore my guy, Klin de boor that three out of
the last four games against Dan Lanning, Steve Sarkisi and
now Kirby Smart. I know the game was close, but
give me a fucking break. They warked them. How about that?
How about them apples.
Speaker 3 (34:15):
Yeah, well, Raven's that that trick play. I could tell
you there's been over the past five seasons as a
Ravens fan, there's been a lot of blown leads, blown
double digit leads.
Speaker 1 (34:26):
And momentum shifting too.
Speaker 3 (34:28):
I could you could feel it in the stadium and
there just that play felt like it was just okay,
you could exhale. So, yeah, that was a classic hardball spot.
There's like one a season and he usually comes through.
So that was nice. But yeah, good calling to Boor.
I thought that, Look, the Alabama secondary still has issues.
(34:51):
I mean, Beck ended up throwing for like five hundred yards.
But and look, I got the credit Georgia to at
least I mean, I haven't teams can go down twenty
to nothing with four turnovers of safety, and granted they did,
They're good to go five for five and four downs
and then still somehow take the lead. But I think
I thought the difference was you were right, and it
(35:12):
was I was shocked that Georgia came out with with
like a deer in the headlights. Look, this is a
team that's played big games, but Carson Beck looked like
he was seeing ghosts early. Did they not expect Miller
to use his legs on the edge. They had two
weeks to prepare for this, and I thought the difference
(35:33):
in the game was ultimately that Alabama was able to
build that big lead. Why because they had the better
game plan. And I think I also thought that they
came out, you know, more focused, more well prepared, and
obviously it helps here.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
We have evidence now, stuck, We have evidence now stuck
you Right, the PAC twelve Championship game, which I would say,
Lean's Oregon in Vegas in terms of home crowd, he
came out guns blaze and controlled the game. Sark, same
thing came out right away. I think they might have
like the score was like seven to seven or four,
but you could tell like Dubor was in control of
(36:12):
that game. Same thing obviously Michigan. I think we all
agree the teams it wasn't a fair fight. I mean,
Michigan was just clearly better than them. So no, you'd
have to have the greatest game plan in the history
of the world even to keep the thing close. But
if you remove that game three or four games now
or the other three games where they had I would
say close to equal teams, right, you would say Alabama
(36:33):
and Georgia equal Sark Washington and Washington Oregon do Boar's
advantage Like I'm a fan, but it's mind blowing how
fucking good the guy is.
Speaker 3 (36:43):
Yeah, especially against all of who's considered top tier coaches
in college football, He's got the best of them almost,
you know, I mean, Harball is no longer there, so
I mean every time so far and all of their matchups.
Speaker 1 (36:58):
So yeah, other ce's coaching. Gina throwing up six hundred.
Speaker 3 (37:02):
Yards now yep, Yeah, Gino looked spectacular, but that was Yeah,
I thought that was the difference in the game. You know, Georgia,
the turnovers bit them coming back. You know, they did
make Kirby made some good adjustments, as you would imagine,
you know, they started taking away the edge for Miller
to run and that kind of cleared his mind. But
(37:26):
you're you're just not going to beat Alabama if you
come out like that. And the difference was coaching, I think,
and the game plan was just better. So yeah, a
good call there. The Bills. The funny thing about uh
the Bills game is going into last week, everyone and
(37:46):
their mother said the Bills are the best team in
the NFL. Josh Allen's winning the MVP Bills are unstoppable.
And that's what happens when you play, you know, three
clown cars. They played the Jags who were still winning
us the Dolphins, who were they still they're They're the
first team since the winless Browns to not pull a
(38:07):
lead through four games. Yes they have a win, but
they won on the final play and h who else
they played the the Cardinals? So and then what happens
one game in the classic Carbo spot before last weekend.
The Ravens have all kinds of issues right in the
(38:27):
past events they can't all know too the lead the
special teams. Uh now, the Ravens are the best team
in the NFL. It's all I hear. It's one game.
So the overreactions are crazy if you're and a lot
of times if you just simply it's uncomfortable a lot.
But if you just because who wanted to fade Buffalo
last week is as an underdog. But if you just
kind of very simple, high level, if you just kind
(38:49):
of fade those overreactions, you just buy low and sell high.
That's just your general principle when betting the NFL. HM
you're doing better than mom. I mean, like this week,
where where is it scary? H Washington commanders, unstoppable offense,
cannot be stopped by the way we've heard.
Speaker 1 (39:10):
This, everyone's gonna bet on that? And who wants to
bet on Deshaun Watson and Cleveland.
Speaker 3 (39:14):
Yeah, but now the line is, you know they're now
they're ley three and a half point favorites at home.
That's a big difference for one of the worst defenses
in the NFL. Is a team that you know, three
weeks ago was a one point favorite at home against
the Giants. So and the Giants probably win that game
if they had a kicker on the roster. So and look, I.
Speaker 1 (39:34):
Mean once the preseason look ahead line at this game
probably Washington plus two or three.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Yeah, probably posted and a half. Now we dad learned
that Daniels is a lot. I mean, I look, I
thought he was probably gonna be like Justin Fields up
off and maybe he's still Fields is playing well, but
maybe he will not end up being what he looks like.
But you can't discount what he's done. So you have
to upgrade Washington significantly. But this is a big jump,
(40:01):
and you have to remember that Daniels he's been in
very fortunate situations the past three weeks. I mean, they
played the Giants, one of the worst defenses in the NFL,
especially their secondary. They played the Bengals, whose defense is
a mess right now if their entire defensive line has
been out, so they were able to just run it,
run it, run it, and then easy passes. And then
you play the Cardinals. I mean the Cardinals, you could
(40:24):
argue they have the worst defense in the NFL. So
the Browns defense is an upper echelon unit and they're
more aggressive, like they're gonna play a ton of Cover one.
They're gonna be So the defenses that they played were
more passive, and you're able to run that horizontal stuff.
We have heard this with Cliff Kingsbury before. The offense
is unstoppable. Kyler's unstoppable. This is a Arizona used to
(40:45):
always get out of these great but it doesn't.
Speaker 1 (40:48):
But it doesn't slow down till November, true December.
Speaker 3 (40:50):
That's sure call of duty comes out I think October
twenty fifth for Kyler. So, uh so, yeah, you just
have to hold your horses. Look, I mean, Daniels, he looks,
he looks the thing I like about Daniel so far,
and obviously his stats speak for themselves, and ran you
have to take into a cathal level competition, but he
just does look extremely poised and comfortable in the pocket,
(41:12):
which is really what you want to see from a
rookie quarterback, especially this early in the season. So I
have to give them credit. But that, like, that's probably
one I look, Washington could blow out Cleveland. Cleveland is
not a good football team right now. They've all kinds
of injuries on the offensive line. Although their center did
practice today, which is big because their backup center was
really bad last week and even though he got job
(41:33):
in a holding call that probably cost him the game
against the Raiders. But the other ones, like the Vikings,
is this is probably the top of the market on
the Vikings. And you just saw the Jets. They can't
move the ball against the Bronx. They lose their home
to the Broncos with sixty yards passing, the fewest yards
passing in fifteen years for a winning team. Who wants
to bet the Jets right now? How is Aaron Rodgers
(41:55):
gonna have out flits? But now you're talking about the Vikings,
a team that was projected to win SIXI ish games
a three point favorite over the Jets on a neutral field,
probably getting a little too rich. Just saw the Ravens.
Now everyone loves Drayton Ravens out getting out to a
field goal favorite on the road in sinci. I know,
since he has injuries on the defensive line, we'll see
if they get healthier. They could this week, so it's
(42:15):
gonna be tough to stop that Ravens rushing attack. But
now we're saying the Ravens are a field goal plus
home field advantage better than the Bengals. Not sure about that.
So those are some of the I think weekly overreactions
in the market that I'll be looking to bet against.
Speaker 1 (42:35):
Okay, let's start there, because one thing you've taught me
and now I look for this is as the season
goes on, you know, home dogs indivisional games, and that
game to me jumped out to me. Obviously, Cincinnati, their
offense has played much better the last couple weeks. Defensively,
they've been missing a lot of players, and like you said,
(42:56):
I mean, really you can't argue the two first half
for the Ravens the last two weeks are as good
as any team's played. So far this year, like is
dominant completion them and I mean Minnesota's also had some
incredible first afts, like that's that's a super high level.
Now divisional games, though, this team's very comfortable with the opponent.
(43:18):
I mean, it's not like we have new coaching staffs.
Zach Taylor's been there for this, you know, era of
the Ravens personnel. So they're very, very comfortable. Everyone is
going all in on Baltimore, which I don't disagree with
the way they've played, but these divisional games, we know,
they get weird. Joe Burrow is looking more healthy. The
other thing that's jumping out is, you know, those first
(43:40):
couple of weeks, Jamar Chase was kind of m I A.
He's starting to make some big plays. Obviously had two
touchdowns on the Monday Night. He had that sweet ass
touchdown last week where he like spun around guys, break tackles,
run around. It's like, okay, you're getting that like that.
That's what makes them pretty potent because to me, Higgins
has always felt kind of like a stiff, tall guy,
but he is productive. But it's like I'm I defend
(44:02):
Mike Brown, Like, yeah, I'm not giving that guy hundred million,
like I should be able to find it. But what
Jamar Chase brings to the table, like holy shit, you know,
can you imagine if that's always the thing like with
the Ravens, if they ever got a guy like that, like,
holy moly, they would really be potent. But I'm hammering
the Bengals plus two and a half now. The defense
situation makes me nervous. But you know, this kind of
(44:25):
feels like one of those where the Ravens kind of
got their mojo back, feeling themselves a little bit. Divisional
game always big, but this feels like a super Bowl
for Cincinnati, like they're gonna get back in the season.
It kind of I mean, it must win. You can't.
You can't be one in four, especially if Baltimore beats
you and assuming Pittsburgh wins at night, Like you're fucked,
aren't you.
Speaker 3 (44:45):
Yeah, it's a massive game for the division. If the
Ravens win, they're probably gonna win the division. If the
Bengals win, this race is gonna be tight with the
Steelers in the mix as well. I mean I think this.
Speaker 1 (44:58):
I guess the Ravens are two and two.
Speaker 3 (45:00):
Yeah, so I mean, you go Ravens, go to three
and two, and then you know, you drop to one
and four and you lost your home game to Baltimore
and you lost. You had a last play schedule. The
Bengals had a last play schedule. That was one of
their edges coming into the season. They already lost their
AFC East advantage, which was big because the Ravens beat
(45:22):
the Bills and the Bengals lost at home to the
Patriots to the page. So that's it. It's bad. That's
supposed to be you know, a potential full game, you know,
maybe a full game that you would get on the Ravens.
So this is a huge game at home. I agree.
You look like there's the Bengals defensive line. It's definitely scary.
I mean even the Panthers could run on them last week.
(45:43):
The Panthers can't run on anybody because they just don't
have any guys. So we'll see if they can get
Rankins and hillback. It looks like Hendrickson is gonna play.
Jackson and Murphy who have been there. They were supposed
to be contributors. They just had their practice windows open up.
They were full participants. Will see if they play on
the defensive line, so they should. They could have some
reinforcements coming along the defensive line, which would be so
(46:04):
important because it's really hard to see, you know, if
they trot out the same defensive line that they have
the past two weeks. I mean, the Washington could just
run out will like it was just four to five
yards of pop. Carolina did the same thing as a
team that hasn't ran the ball well in two years.
So we'll say if they can get some reinforcements back
(46:24):
on the defensive line, I would imagine they get one
or one back, which would really help. But I think
this is more about the Bengals offense that they can
they can keep up here. The way to beat this
Ravens defense, the run defense is really good. You have
to attack them on the outside with good receivers like
the Bills just don't have that. You know, Humphrey and
Stevens can lock down and lock down the Bills receivers.
(46:48):
Who aren't you going to really overwhelm you? And I
think that the Bengals are one of those teams that
can do that. And Burrow's playing really well. We always
see him get off to these slow starts of the
first Cup weeks. He's a lot of times he's dealing
with injury or rust from the preseason, and then he
starts to get going and now he's cooking and he's
got all his pieces back. And I mean this this
(47:09):
kid Eric all this receiver, he looks really good. This
tight end he looks really good as well. So I
think they can keep up and could the raven Could
the Ravens win? Yeah, obviously it's it's a but I
think this is a good time to sell them at
the peak of their market, especially if you can get
a field goal, Like it's like flirting going there. But this, this,
this sets up there's that I see value in the Bengals,
(47:31):
and this sets up to be like last team with
the ball wins and especially if the Bengals can get
some guys back to the defensive line, that will really help.
But yeah, home divisional dog, a lot of familiarity here,
Ravens off that huge win against Buffalo. This is this
is the time too to buy the Bengals. I agree
(47:52):
with you here.
Speaker 1 (47:54):
I feel dirty betting on this game, but honestly it
might be my favorite bet on the board.
Speaker 3 (48:00):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (48:00):
New England actually had a couple moments against the Niners
early on where there was a little fight, then they
just got overwhelmed. The talent discrepancy, I don't really think
it's debatable. The Dolphins version minus Tua is the worst
team in the NFL. Like I've watched basically every Jag snap.
You know, obviously they could They're gonna end up with
like five wins or four wins probably, but they are
(48:22):
dramatically better like this version. If they played the Dolphins
ten times, I'm taking the Jags seven or eight to
Tyler Huntly version. I mean, this team, the stats for
him obviously jump out the fucking screen. Offensively, what is
Tyreek have like eighty seven total yards since Tool was
laying on the ground. It's been a complete disaster they
(48:44):
kind of have. I mean everyone's making fun of the Titans,
and Titans were kicking their ass, you know. I mean
that was that was a beatdown. So in fairness to McDaniel,
who listen, I think's pretty overrated. Everyone's like obsessed with
his look. I mean, he hasn't won a big game
in two years. They fucking crumbled down the stretch. Uh,
(49:06):
But I don't know what you're like, It's Bill Walsh
winning games with Tyler Huntley like I probably not. I
do think New England this is a pretty interesting spot
if you are going to bet on him throughout the season.
I think Miami kind of everyone's talking about Jacksonville tapping out,
and maybe they do. I thought they played pretty hard
last week. I think Miami's got one, two, three, can
(49:29):
Coon written all over them in October.
Speaker 3 (49:32):
Yeah, look, it's been it's been a good run on
the show for three years, but this is this is
probably the end of the road for me. I mean,
you're you're gonna pull me in on a Thursday afternoon
to talk about this game. I think this is my
last appearance on the show, No joking.
Speaker 1 (49:46):
This is sick. This game.
Speaker 3 (49:47):
This is why we gambled. I have First of all,
I have no idea who's playing this game. If you
you want to go, you want like a you're a
fan of CDs for seats, go look at the the
injury report for both teams. Don't know who's who's playing
on the Patriots offensive line and just they just lost
their star center. Everyone else is hurt. Both their starting
safeties uh Dugger and Peppers. They didn't practice today. They
(50:10):
might be out. One of their starting corners might be out.
Doesn't even matter against Miami.
Speaker 1 (50:16):
Jalen Phillips is out.
Speaker 3 (50:17):
For Miami lost Phillips. They have offensive line injuries that
they don't have a quarterback. I mean, your hope is
that like Huntley, this is better with the timing, but
it's like with the of the offense after a game
and he could like just throw it deep and it
hits hill one or two times. I mean, what is this?
This total is that let's see, it's total thirty three.
(50:44):
Now it's a thirty six. It might go lower perfect weather.
This is such a low total for but yeah, it
might go lower. I mean, to get a total of
thirty five or below with perfect weather is extremely rare.
I have no idea on this game. I guess see
I fear New England looks like they're still trying. Brissette
(51:06):
doesn't make mistakes generally, and he's one of the lowest
interception rates in NFL history, which makes why it makes
them such a good backup. Also, is this a game
that you try, you try some Drake mayn't. I don't know.
There's a ton of uncertainty. But in this spot, Miami
looks like they have quit. I mean, I don't know
(51:26):
what's called McDaniel. He's making some bizarre, bizarre decisions. And
you see all these other I know it's tough. You
lose all you lose to you lose all these guys,
But look at these other coaches that are well respected
in the league. They're winning with backup quarterbacks. I mean,
look at Lafleur. He's two and out with Malik Willis
this year and in.
Speaker 1 (51:46):
Faress to Miami. The title defense is pretty good. Like
if you just took their defense and like gave it
to the Bills, I think we'd go. Uh are they
the favorite to win the Super Bowl? I mean, how
good did the kid from Texas sweat? He's three hundred
and fifty pounds making tackles. Their dbs are good, Like
I like the Titans kind of on defense. Obviously offensively
rolling with what Levis and Mason Rudolph, but the Titans
(52:09):
pretty respectable opponent I've thought through four weeks.
Speaker 3 (52:12):
Yeah, I agree, sadly, I bet them each of the
first three weeks. I had some horrible losses, but I
didn't bet them against Miami. I should have, but that's
how I knew they were gonna cover because I finally
didn't bet them. But yeah, I like their defen Simmons
Jeffrey Simons one of the best defensive line in the NFL.
He didn't even play ball er him and Uh Sweat
formidable more than formidable duo in the interiors. So yeah,
(52:34):
if I was gonna bet this, I didn't. It's like
Miami on a short week with all those injuries. I
just don't know who's gonna play for him. If I
had to bet it, uh, and I had to watch
this game, he'd like tied me to a chair and
I would bet the Patriots. So I do agree with you,
and yeah, I do think the Jags are still fighting.
Look last week that was another example. Who of the
(52:55):
talked about it last week that I liked the Jags
against the Texans who wanted to to bet the Jags,
but for some reason that the Texans haven't looked great
they got blown out. The Jags also got blown out.
Everyone saw it, and then the line went up to
seven who wanted to bet the Jags after getting blown
out by the Bills that haven't won a game. But
I mean you mentioned the Jag first, Dolphins the jag
(53:17):
should have beat the Dolphins a week one. They fumbled
going in the end zone.
Speaker 1 (53:19):
They were up seventeen to three.
Speaker 3 (53:20):
They fumbled the ETM fumbles and the en zone to
go up seventeen with the game away, then an eight
r touchdown the other way. So but in that by
the way, in that game, the Jags, as SVP SAIDs
the pitchy wu wu they were throwing the ball back
towards the end zone, almost had a heart attack. Luckily
it was the ETM. They ruled forward progress at the one.
(53:41):
One of those is going to happen again soon. I've
had a couple in the past. They are ruin your day.
But yeah, Jags are still fighting. That was just another
example of okay, market is just over selling how bad
this Jaguars team is divisional game familiarity, and they were
able to cover pretty comfortably and came back to get
(54:01):
that win with a touchdown in the final minute. But
back to your original question, Yeah, it's Patriots or nothing.
But I have no idea who's even playing in this game.
Speaker 1 (54:10):
Before we get into that, I would say the two
Marquee games, I know you're fired up on one. I
think we got some agreement here. The Bears, I know
they're two and two, but they just do not tap
past the smell test to me. I mean, especially given
all the hype and what everyone thought. They finally won
a game. Obviously the run game and sweat, you know,
(54:33):
was a big addition in terms of them not being
able to run the ball through three weeks, but they
kind of just had their quarterback then condunk. They said
that hero ball shit because you're way off. I mean
when he throws the ball down the field, I heard
someone say yesterday. His metrics down the field are pretty
poor so far. And the eye test is there are
a couple passes in that game against the Rams where
(54:55):
DJ Moore streaking down the sideline and it's not even close.
And let's I'm not bailing on Caleb Williams, but he's
clearly just off for the height in what we saw
in college. But the Panthers, since going to the bullpend
and going with d Andy Dalton, what they score thirty
seven against the Raiders, they scored twenty four. Like their
(55:17):
offense is just pretty solid now and it's not like
the Bears are scoring thirty points. So I get four
points on the road against a Bears team that I'm sorry,
looks much more like a six or seven win team
than a nine or ten win team. I think it's
not o' hammer.
Speaker 3 (55:34):
No, yeah, I like the fanths here. This is the
Panthers team that I was trying to tell you.
Speaker 1 (55:42):
Are the Bears good now? I don't.
Speaker 3 (55:44):
I don't think so. I mean their defense is playing well.
They they You were able to run it a bit
on the Rams last week. Maybe that happens again. But
even in that game against them, they were pretty fortunate
that the Rams couldn't score in the red zone. The
Bears scored off a couple of turnovers. They were out gained,
outplayed on a down to down basis. It was a
(56:06):
pretty fortunate win. Who were there two wins against this year?
The Titans? They had they were it was I won
in a million win at home? They there. I had
a punt block for a touchdown, Will Levis throw him
a pick six for a touchdown. They came back from
down seventeen to nothing despite not scoring an offensive touchdown,
(56:28):
and then they beat the Rams practice squad. I mean,
who was playing for the Rams in that game? Both
pretty lucky wins.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
And that game was close against the run, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (56:38):
Very close, could have went either way. So, I mean
Caleb Williams just he's not there yet. He leads the
NFL by a wide margin in off target throw percentage,
So you're right, like just anything downfield is not there.
So credit to them. They made some adjustments. They got
their run game.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
What's your take on that. Why do you think that's happening,
because it's it's not just miss the guys on their fingertips,
he's he's fucking airmail and Kevin Garnett, right, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (57:04):
I don't know. I mean it's part of it's the
offensive line. So the offensive line has not been good
and it's definitely going to continue to be a struggle.
So I don't know if it's he's just.
Speaker 1 (57:18):
But he played with a bad offensive line last year.
Speaker 3 (57:20):
Ye, that's true. I don't know if he's like just
struggling to deal with hey play within the structure of
the offense. I don't think the play calling has been
great either. That hasn't helped them. But and then like
at USC, he had just like a longer leash and
he just felt more comfortable. And so I really don't
know what the with the issues still it's still early,
(57:42):
but you just have to go off what you're seeing,
and right now it's definitely problematic. So this is an
offense that it's not a team or an offense that
I want to back to win by margin by you know,
you're laying four, you got to basically win by six,
seven or more. It's not an offense that's there right now.
Speaker 1 (58:00):
Now.
Speaker 3 (58:00):
The Panthers d is horrendous. They had more injuries, lost
their linebacker Shack Thomps, they already lost Theirk Brown. But
what they're doing, you know, they're they're just taking away
the explosive play. They're gonna play a ton of Cover three,
but they're blitzing a lot because they have no other
way of generating pressure, like none. So everyro's blitzing a lot.
That's something the Bears have not shown any ability to handle.
(58:22):
I mean, their their offensive line is just in disarray
when dealing with any blitzes or stunts. So the Panthers
could have some success there and then everyroll will give
some complex Cover three looks on the back end, so
maybe it forces Caleb into a mistake. But you brought
up to key point here with the Panthers is that.
I mean, their offensive scored sixty points in two games
of Dalton. They scored sixty points in eight games over
(58:44):
the last eight games with Bryce Young combined, So this
is just a much improving. The offensive line also significantly improved.
You look at pressure rate on just dropbacks allowed. Panthers
number one in the NFL by a wide margin. I
think they're like fifty teen percent. Next best teams at
like twenty one percent. So their offensive line is playing
(59:05):
really well giving Dalton time, and Dalton is more than
capable of making throws. So I think that the offensive
line can handle the Bears defensive front. So yeah, I
think that it's Panthers are nothing here against the Bears.
So just their offense right now. Maybe Cable will get
there and they'll start to figure some more things out,
But right now, it's not a team that I'm running
(59:28):
to bet as a favorite of more than a field goal.
Speaker 1 (59:32):
Okay, obviously the two big games this weekend, you know,
the Bills Texans. It's kind of a stay away for me.
I want to lean Bills, but they're You watch them
against the Ravens and you go god their defense at
any moment, and we know how potent Houston is. But
then again, you watch Houston against the Jags, You're like, ah,
(59:52):
this is not the team that I hammered to be
the number one overall seed. Nico Collins has been incredible.
I don't necessarily have, you know, a strong opinion on that.
I do think the night game, you just look at
it and you go, Lawrence's out, Mike A. Parsons is out.
Their defense was already shitty. I mean, that's and did
I read that Cooks is injured as well?
Speaker 3 (01:00:14):
It's got an infection. He's out.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
So you go, why don't I empty my account on
the Pittsburgh Steelers? And then you go, well, I've been
gambling long enough to know in these spots it almost
feels too good to be true. But I listen. I
don't know how it's hard. If you did, you're basically
just fading. Everybody bet the Cowboys, but you can't feel
confident on it. It's a big I mean, if Pittsburgh
(01:00:38):
wins all of a sudden, you're four and one, you
start feeling yourself a little bit. In fields definitely has
looked better this year in the second half. Last week,
I know the Colts defense isn't great, but fuck he was.
He was making some plays that just feels too easy
to me. But I don't know how you take the
Cowboys in this spot.
Speaker 3 (01:00:57):
Yeah, will You'd be surprised how public the Cowboys are.
I mean, I was texting with.
Speaker 1 (01:01:01):
The the Yankees or the Lakers or something.
Speaker 3 (01:01:04):
Yeah, I was textingally a couple bookmakers. They're like sixty
forty Cowboys the Steelers so far. So I think that
they'll actually end up getting more as far as just
ticket percentages.
Speaker 1 (01:01:15):
And why do you think that is? Just because they're
just the most public team.
Speaker 3 (01:01:18):
Yeah, They're a pub up public team. It's like Dak
and Lamb. People still don't trust fields. Cowboys are just
the sexier team people like to bet in prime time.
So but look, I mean but public sides. I mean
last year they had a really good year. Some sometimes
it win. Look go back to the Chiefs Chiefs Falcons
(01:01:38):
game on Sunday night, Lions against Seahawks. That was a
big one Monday night. I like the Steelers here. I mean,
you can't underestimate what the losses of Lawrence and especially
Parsons means to that defense. Now, look at the defense,
what is it. It's a bottom of the barrel unit.
I mean, Parsons does so much for that day. Those
are their two best defensive linemen, not only as far
(01:02:01):
as pass rushes concerned, but also against the run. Their
run dye is non existent. You look at the teams
that can run the ball that play Dallas this year
and they, I mean the Saints just destroyed them. The
Ravens did whatever they wanted. On the ground, they have nothing,
and on the back end they don't have. Their secondary
(01:02:23):
is a mess yep because you had an injury to
their on Glands. You just have Digs who you know,
it's kind of a boom er bus corner and not
much else. Lewis is decent in the slot, but you
don't really have a second corner that you rely upon.
But what does Pittsburgh want to do? They want to
run the ball. We want to run the ball some more,
you know, and then take their shots with pickens, you know,
(01:02:45):
get their tight end above a little bit. And then
Fields is playing really well. It looks like as a
good command on this of this offense, he's using his
legs effectively to extend drives. So yeah, they're playing well,
but they want to run, run, run. They want to
run up the middle. You know, it is the worst
defense in the NFL defending runs up the middle. Well,
the Dallas Cowboys, So they should be able to move
(01:03:05):
the ball on the other side of the ball when
Dallas has it. By the way, this is a really
good field goal. You're into kicking, really good kicking matchup.
Brandon Aubrey obviously is a weapon, but the Steelers have
a weapon at their own. It doesn't get talked about enough.
It's the most accurate kicker in NFL history. Now because
if Tucker's struggles of.
Speaker 1 (01:03:24):
Late, well I mentioned on the podcast, like last week,
when when did they play oh on Thursday night? In
Aubrey just I mean, he's banging sixty yard field goals
and then you look up the story. I'm like, this
guy's I'm just overreacted best kicker. And I had a
bunch of people like that's bullshit. Check out his numbers.
It's like, yeah, I get it, he's fucking we're not
ranking kickers, he's not quarterbacks. But you're right. I mean,
(01:03:45):
Aubrey's story is pretty incredible. To be a soccer player
to then go, you know, just start training, go to
the minor leagues and then become what he's become. I mean,
that's that's a freaking awesome sports story, isn't that.
Speaker 3 (01:03:57):
Yeah, well, unless you've met the Cowboys last week and
then he cost you recovery finally miss at the end.
But Boswell, that's a very tough stadium to kick him,
by the way. So for the fact that he's the
most accurate kicker on NFL history, there are why is
that there's some there's tricky wins, especially on one side
of the stadium. There's like these swirling wins. So for
(01:04:17):
the longest time there was For the longest time, Justin
Tucker had the stadium record for most made field goals
over fifty yards. I think Boswell has since passed him,
But it was a road kicker, you know. I mean, look,
how many fifty yards are made? Like fifty plus yarders
are not easy in that stadium, especially on one side,
(01:04:41):
because there's these swirling wins that are just hard to
judge and they just come and take the ball, and
so a lot of teams won't even try them, like
at fifty three. If it's like fifty three, fifty four
to fifty five, especially on the left side, it's they
just punt or go for it because it's it's it's
very difficult to kick. It's by the hardest staium in
(01:05:02):
the NFL to kick it. So yeah, good kicker matchup.
But the other side the ball, I mean, look, the
Dallas offenses is struggling. It's they can't run the ball
at all, like it's non existence. So the offensive line
is worse. She got two really good guards, but the
tat you got, you know, a couple of rookies who
are struggling. Steel has just met one tackle spot and
(01:05:25):
you can't run it at all. It is the worst
they're up there down there with you know, the Raiders.
Uh as far as rush efficiency, they just can't run it.
They don't have any baps. This is all talked about
all off season. It's not surprising. And their offensive line
is taking a step back, so there's no help for Dak.
And then it's just the weapons. How much you like
(01:05:46):
how much can how many times can you go to Lamb?
And defenses know that, so there's so much attention but
on defending CD Lamb and Dak's now in all these
known passing situations, right, they're not they're not able to
run it effectively, and they're still doing it too often.
They're still trying to run it too frequently on early downs,
which is just not smart. And then you're in these
(01:06:07):
third downs and guess what's gonna happen now? Is t
J Watt that pass rush is gonna tee off. They're
probably gonna cause a turnover to the You know, the
Steelers play a lot of looks that Dak has struggled
more against historically. So yeah, there's no cooks here. It's
it's like how many how much damage can Lamb really
(01:06:29):
do when there's just no help? And I just think
the losses of Parsons and Lawrence can't be overstated. And
this is a this is a classic bra Rah Tomlin
spot off the loss in again that I thought that
they were pretty unfortunate to lose against the Colts. They
I think they outplayed them, They had a fumble in
the red zone they got they I think that they
(01:06:50):
were the better team down to down in that game,
and the Cowboys were maybe a bit fortunate against the Giants.
Dable I think should have he should have went for
but they had two red zone trips that they kicked
two field goals in and they were pretty fortunate to
win that game. So yeah, I like the Steelers. Here.
This is a classic rower off Thomas spot at home,
prime timing and what is that translate to the defense
(01:07:12):
coming out just with their hair on fire, probably forced
to keep turnover. So yeah, I like I like the
Steelers anything under three. I played some cheap money line.
Speaker 1 (01:07:22):
You had to get a little joy out of Flacco
coming out of the pen and taking down the Steelers,
throwing a couple easy touchdowns. He looked, you know, Flacco,
who would have thought, I mean, his last couple of years.
Pretty cool story, and this guy was clearly toward the
end of his career. You know in Baltimore when Lamar
kind of Wally Pipson, I guess he's not injured. He
just got benched. But then the Jets and just kind
(01:07:42):
of bouncing around. It's just kind of over. And then
you come back last year and then again he just
looks like the same guy he saw in Cleveland. It's
fucking awesome.
Speaker 3 (01:07:51):
Yeah, it's it's amazing. I actually, of.
Speaker 1 (01:07:54):
Course Anthony Richardson's hurt too. It's a great spot for him.
He's gonna get to play.
Speaker 3 (01:07:58):
Yeah, it's I would want to bet the Jags this
week as like too and a half point favor if
it was Richardson starting, If it's Flacco, I don't. I
like the Colts I liked, I would like the Colts.
Of Flacco is playing. Richardson is too he's too ratic,
he's too inaccurate right now. And the Jags, their defense
isn't great. They're gonna play a ton of man. I
(01:08:19):
think Flacco would be able to exploit that. I'm not Richardson.
I don't think Keny just on a down the down basis.
He's not accurate enough. And the Colts defense, I mean,
they have injuries. Jonathan Taylor's banged up. But if you
got Flacco out there against that defense, I trust the
Colts more. It's one of those situations where Richardson. You
(01:08:40):
gotta remember richards had only played a couple of games
last year. He's still a rookie, but there was I
had concerns about his accuracy coming out of college. I
still do. He hasn't demonstrated the ability to consistently move
an offense. He's going to have a couple highlight throats.
He's got a cannon of an arm but there's no consistency,
no accuracy. So I think Flacco is gives a higher
(01:09:02):
floor of that offense and he'd be able to move it.
So that's something that I'm keeping an eye on. But yeah,
the Flaco story is pretty amazing.
Speaker 1 (01:09:13):
Guys ageless, Okay, I get you out of here on
this any Saturday, A couple of games. As you jumped
out to me, Michigan an underdog on the road at Washington.
I'm not sure Washington's any good. Missouri I don't necessarily
have a take on this because I don't know. I
know Missouri is good. But on the road at A
(01:09:34):
and M, they're getting two and a half points. That
number kind of jumped out to me. But A and
M now has gone they've transitioned to quarterbacks, right that
the backup can run around a little bit. He's a
better player, or you know, I haven't been dialed in
on A and M as that is the other starter
Wegman or whatever his.
Speaker 3 (01:09:51):
Name back might be. That's game time decision. By the way,
I didn't, I didn't. I forgot the touch on you
of Bill's Texans.
Speaker 1 (01:09:56):
Bill.
Speaker 3 (01:09:57):
I want to see if Nixon plays mix and or Pierce.
They both didn't practice, so I saw on Wednesday it did,
but not out there today, So I don't know they
needed that. What teams are doing against Stroud while the
Texans offense is struggling a bit, he's having a bit
of a sophomore slump. I think they're gonna be fine.
But they're my only Super Bowl future this year. I'm
not too worried. But teams are just they just did
(01:10:17):
what there. They did against the Chiefs and Momest couple
years ago, jacked up the cover two. They tripled the
rate of cover two from last year. Opposing defenses to
take away the exposive play. Right, the Texans were the
exception the rule last year, all those explosive plays. The
Texans got to figure that out. When did they? When
did the Texans offense look good? The best this year's
And what do you want to do when you're against
defenses that are playing too high safeties. You want to
(01:10:39):
be able to run the ball, force one of the
safeties down, then he could take your shots. Well, they
look great this year. Mixing was running the ball well,
I mean he ran for he ran all over the Colts.
Without him, you know, you know Pierce has heard too,
but they really need mixing to get that offense going.
So that's something that I'm watching if he plays like
(01:10:59):
I kind of like Houston in that game College. I
like Washington, don't. I think Michigan's bad. This is the
team they got lucky to beat Minnesota. They got They
had two ten yard touchdown drives after turnovers in that game,
and I mean Minnesota outgained them by like sixty yards.
They just Minnesota, who got rent all over by Iowa
the week before, shut down Michigan's rushing attack. They saw
(01:11:21):
what they were going to do. Michigan was able to
kind of surprise USC in a really good spot. They
made the quarterback change to Org. USC didn't really know
what to expect, and they were able to run on them. Minnesota,
who doesn't have a good run defense, was able to
shut down Michigan's rush tack. Well, Washington, I think we'll
(01:11:42):
be able to do the same. Steve Belichick knows this
is a one dimensional offense. I mean Michigan has won
their last two games by scored the twenty seven to
twenty four at home. By the way, it's their first
road game traveling across the country. There's still some holdovers
that Washington team that won some national championship revenge. I'm
sure they're gonna be fired up. And Orgy's run for
thirty and sixty yards in these two games and they've won.
I mean, yeah, I think it comes to an end here.
(01:12:04):
I think Washington wins that game. I also like Minnesota
at home against USC. It's a tricky spot for USC.
You know, they they've played two physical what's the line there,
They're like catching nine. There's gonna be heavy wins in
that game, which favors Minnesota. Minnesota just wants to run it,
control the clock, short passing attack and their transfer quarterbacks
(01:12:28):
starting to get more comfortable. You saw that in the
second AF against Michigan. So the wins and the conditions
they're going to impact USC as the much more explosive
passing offense. So I think Minnesota this is your classic
like running dog, uh you know, catching over a touchdown.
Those slowly one of the slowest teams in college football.
So the limit the possessions. Uh So yeah, I like
(01:12:51):
Minnesota there. I mean USC off two you know, physical games.
This is a team that hasn't won in the Eastern
or Central time zone since twenty twelve. I think they're
h to nine straight out one and eight against the spread.
So and they got Penn stay on deck. So this
is just a tricky situational spot. Don't be surprised Minnesota
gets a couple of calls. Big ten blew that game
(01:13:13):
last week, came out, didn't apologize. They said that they're
making just changes to how they officiate, So don't be
surprised if the Gophers get a couple of calls. But
and then, speaking of low possessions, you want to hold
your nose. I bet Bandy plus twenty four. It's like
twenty three now, still would bet at small against vet Bama.
This bandy team is it's scary. They're like, nowhere could
(01:13:37):
come out and they could just hit a million explosives.
But this Bandy team is a team all year that
I'm gonna bet as a big underdog and fade anytime
as a favorite. They're basically a service academy. They run like,
you know, an option esque offense. They want to roll
the ball, they want to go so slow, so you
know they're basically basically treat them as a service academy
(01:13:57):
and anytime. The Services, who's their coach Clark, But they
they brought in Jerry Kill and the new Mexico State
staff and Diego Pavia who, by the way, Diego Pabi
should have upset Missouri at Missouri early this year is
twenty one point underdogs. They shortened that name. He went
into Auburn last year. This staft they shortened that. They
destroyed Auburn and then they upset VA Tech at almost
(01:14:20):
two touchdown underdogs earlier this year. And like the Service guy,
and they lost his double digit favorites to Georgia State.
But they're coming off of by Alabama. It's just human nature.
That was a sixty minute emotional roller coaster. All your
eggs into that basket. Like now you're going to Vandy.
Fandy's coming off of a bye. They'll have some wrinkles.
Cluck Lee came out. He said, you know, they want
(01:14:41):
they want the game to be fewer than ten total possessions.
That's what he said this week. It's hard to cover
twenty four if there's only ten possessions in the game.
So yeah, I like vanderd A and m Missouri is
the hardest game for me on the board. I mean,
I don't know who's gonna be quarterback brand them. I
think Marce I'll read the freshman. He's better fit for
Colin Klein's RPO offense. Wegman has not looked good, but
(01:15:05):
maybe he gives them a better ceiling against the Missouri secondary,
which I think is vulnerable. But so I don't know there.
Missouri hasn't really played anybody. They should have lost at
home to Bandy. But this is their offensive coordinator, Kirby Moore.
He usually holds things back. He did this last year
and he doesn't really show much because they have a
(01:15:26):
really good receivers, good quarterback, and then you know in
one of their first big games will kind of unleash
the offense. So you go back and look at Missouri's
results last year, like they played like Middle Tennessee State.
The offense looked awful, they didn't show anything, so that
could be they're coming off of the buy here. This
is their first road game, top environment. But I'm so yeah,
I could make a case for either team here. I'm
still not sold in the A and M. Yeah, because
(01:15:47):
their secondary still have some question marks. But this is
the team that probably should have lost at home the
Bowling Green. They got out played by Arkansas in Arlington
last week. They just benefited from some turnovers.
Speaker 1 (01:15:57):
You know, So Arkansas is not bad. I agree, they
have played and they are.
Speaker 3 (01:16:04):
I'm I'm playing them catching two touchdowns against Tennessee because
I'm an idiot and I'm fading Tennessee again. I'll probably
uh lose more money doing that. But yeah, I think
Arkansas ficy. They can run the ball. My thing with
Tennessee is, look, they're great, but Nico he's not been
as sharp as maybe the final scores indicators, and no
one has like NC State has looked. You look at
(01:16:28):
who Tennessee's played. They played Little Sisters of the Poor,
you know, a couple of times, and they played NC State.
NC State's a bad football team. We've seen that.
Speaker 1 (01:16:36):
Now.
Speaker 3 (01:16:37):
This is the team that almost lost at home to
LA Tech. They've they had to come back to win
against Louisianattack. The Louisiana Tack lost at home to Tulsa.
They just lost that FIU FYU the week before lost
to Monmouth. Uh the Lotzek scored ten points in that
game at FIU. The NC State almost lost to Western Carolina.
Western Carolina's one win on the year by one possession
(01:16:58):
over Elon. I mean they got destroyed by Clemson, uh
and then destroy attends to NC State last week, he
goats Northern Illinois. They won, Yes, Northern oll Nois had
four turnovers in that game. Nc stayed at zero and
Northern Illinois still had a chance. At the end of
that game. NCE stayed at one hundred and seventy total
yards in that game. Buffalo, the Buffalo offense who upset
(01:17:21):
Northern Illinois the week before at Northern had more yards.
So NC State is bad. They can't move the ball,
they can't run it, they can't complete a four pass.
So like, I can't even take that much from that
Tennessee win. Then Oklahoma is a team that I know.
They won at Auburn last week. They gave up three
hundred yards of the first half to Auburn. They got
got So it's okay I had Auburn in that game.
(01:17:42):
It still hurts. But Oklahoma. They against Houston in game's
thirteen to ten at home in the fourth quarter. You
know again, they could have lost a two lane. That
game was close. Like to Oklahoma, they have all kinds
of wide receiver injuries. They can't run the ball. It's
like Arkansas at least can run the ball. Taylor Green.
This is the problems that I don't really trust Taylor
Green their quarterback. He's too an accurate, but he can run.
(01:18:05):
And we saw Oklahoma start to move the ball a
bit when they benched Arnold and they brought in their
backup freshman who was able to run because they're The
Tennessee defensive line is great. So yeah, I think two
touchdowns is too much. Maybe Tennessee is that good, but
the data points now looking back, they just they don't
look as good as they might have at the time.
Speaker 1 (01:18:26):
You know what's weird about college football is like in
the NFL, even when you play random teams, like you
get tested in the regular season, it's hard. You know,
look at Old Miss. I mean they're playing the Poor
School of the Blind and Kentucky, who goes and plays Georgia,
plays a real game, gets up for it, like kind
of just just gets used to playing at a high light,
(01:18:47):
comes in on the road and yeah, oh yeah, and
then they come in and kind of kick their ass.
I mean, I thought Old Miss kind of got worked
in that game. And listen, everyone liked Old Miss. But
is Kentucky not bad? I mean it's I don't know,
they're clearly They're defense is not bad. I mean their
defensive line is good.
Speaker 3 (01:19:02):
Their defense is elite, Their defensive front is elite. They
got NFL guys on the defensive line at linebacker.
Speaker 1 (01:19:09):
And that's always the argument, right for you know, people
get very very sensitive of like the SEC is so overrated. Listen,
the middle of the SEC. Their records might look like
the middle of the Big ten. But when you play them,
you're playing three or four NFL people on defense. And
when I play some of these Minnesotas or whatever, yeah,
they both might end up seven to five. It's a
(01:19:30):
different test physically, isn't that. Yeah, And you watch all
these games.
Speaker 3 (01:19:34):
Yeah, the crazy thing is that Kentucky was down it's
top corner all SEC guy in that game against ole Miss.
Speaker 1 (01:19:41):
They that was a fantastic win. I mean they kicked
the shit out of Yeah.
Speaker 3 (01:19:44):
I mean it was physically, yeah, it was.
Speaker 1 (01:19:46):
It was huge.
Speaker 3 (01:19:46):
I mean they had a great game, but they were
getting their defensive line. That's was the big question for
me coming here was the ole Miss offensive line. You
look at the transfer portal, I do think they're their
defense now is legit Like Ole Miss has a good defense.
Speaker 1 (01:19:56):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (01:19:57):
They got guys who have you know, head agree the
results at the SEC level. Uh that they brought in
and you know it's they have a better defensive coordinator
now it's more a more well schooled, serious defense. They
have talent. So that Old Miss defense now is a serious,
you know, SEC contender caliber unit. But the question for
(01:20:18):
me is the offensive line. That was the one unit
that they didn't really you know, bring in top to
your talent. It was guys who you know, like a
North Carolina transfer struggled at North Carolina. The talent level
just wasn't that And what happened they got Yeah, he
played Middle Tennessee, the school of the blind. You were
(01:20:39):
able to just run away the talent. But you played Kentucky.
You know Kentucky didn't do in that game. Kentucky was
in the back of the entire game. They blitzed nobody
was they were. They were dropping seven eight every play. Uh,
take away the exposed to play. That's what Stoops wants
to do. Uh. The defensive line just dominated the Old
Miss office line. That's probably gonna be problematic. And you're
(01:21:00):
playing the top tier team. So that's what I think
is going to hold them back to tuck. You had
a great game plan, it's similar to what they just
wanted to shorten the game. Uh, take away the explosive play,
and then when they had the ball, it was just
bleed the clock. People Miss on the sidelines control the ball. Uh.
And then their defensive line was the difference in the game.
Their defensive front just whipped All Miss. I'm not sure.
(01:21:23):
I'm curious to see what all Miss does this weekend.
Because you're not out of it and they still host
Georgia's one loss, you're in the SEC.
Speaker 1 (01:21:33):
You could get into nine and three if you get
a big win against Georgia or Tennessee or whoever. You
know your biggest teams on your schedule. Don't they play
Texas too? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (01:21:40):
But the yeah, I mean, I would think nine and
three is maybe, but ten and two is still realistic,
and you could still there's.
Speaker 1 (01:21:48):
Gonna be a nine and three team in the playoff,
don't you think.
Speaker 3 (01:21:51):
I mean, it's it's it's hard to say because there's
just it's gonna depend on so many other things like
what happens, Like for example, I'll just this is an
unlikely scenario. But if like, for example, Michigan goes nine
and three, like they're not getting in. I agree, I'm
talking more. But see I'm talking more the SEC.
Speaker 1 (01:22:11):
Like if it's.
Speaker 3 (01:22:11):
Missouri, no, because their schedule isn't is so easy. They
don't play any of the top teams in the SEC.
If it's Georgia, yes, uh, Like Georgia plays you know,
they just played at Bama. Georgia plays at Ole miss
and at Texas. So you know, if they go nine
(01:22:34):
to three and lose those three games, they're getting in.
But like there's other things that can happen.
Speaker 1 (01:22:38):
So, but can the a CEC get two teams in,
Like could Clemson follow Miami and get in? Now they
look a lot.
Speaker 3 (01:22:44):
Better they obviously, Yeah, I think Clemson's legit.
Speaker 1 (01:22:46):
I guess they would probably play Miami twice.
Speaker 3 (01:22:49):
Right, they don't play Miami, which is the interesting part.
Speaker 1 (01:22:51):
Okay, so they could only lose to them on So
that's if their two losses are Georgia in Miami, that's
not bad as.
Speaker 3 (01:22:55):
I would think they would get in. Yeah, especially if
Georgia is in. You know that's a playoff team and
you know, say Miami he's a playoff team and Clemson
should be favored by a touchdown plus every game the
rest of the year. I think Clemson's good again, we'll
see if Miami doesn't Mario as well. Yeah, they and
(01:23:16):
cam Ward can be inconsistent. They I mean they they
almost lost that game last week, A seventeen point favorites
top spot against Cal this week traveling out there, Cal
coming off, but by should be healthier. Cal gets some
key guys back, but Ole miss they go you know
their schedule, they host Georgia and you know, if they
lose that game and they run the table, I think
(01:23:39):
they're in. But if they go nine and three, they
don't really have any other mark ewins that there are
other games are LSU, you know, South Carolina, Oklahoma, Arkansas
and Florida and Mississippi State. So I don't think they
get in at nine and three there, so they're one
(01:24:00):
team they just don't have to schedule. And then same
with Missouri. I mean Missouri that like this is obviously
this is a tough game against Texas A and M
but you know, then you have UMass, Auburn, Oklahoma, South Carolina,
Mississippi State, Arkansas, and they do go to Alabama, but
(01:24:21):
you're not getting in with that schedule nine and three.
But there are other things that could happen. You could have,
you know, say was the Big twelve getting one team
maybe though I should should get one team. But say
Iowa State runs the table, which I don't think will happen,
but we still have to learn about them. But say
they run the table and then they go to the
Big twelve Championship and they lose to say Utah or whoever.
(01:24:46):
Big twelve is wide open, Well, then that team gets
an automatic autobid and they'll gnna buy. They'll get the
top five seed. But you probably still put Iowa State in.
They were at twelve and oho, you know Big twelve
schedule winner win at Iowa. So like a Big twelve
could be a big thief. So yeah, the ACC if
(01:25:07):
they get two in, if the Big twelve steals too,
if uh, you know, then you have your group of
five team. You know, that's that's five of the twelve spots,
and you know the Big ten is probably gonna get
three teams in, so then you're down.
Speaker 1 (01:25:25):
I think unl V or Boise State is getting you know,
if one of those two runs the table. Let's face it,
UNLV made the right move telling that kid to kick
rocks because they look like a fucking they're good. They
play Syracuse to listen to this on Friday tonight. That's
a pretty interesting game. But it's in Vegas. Boise. That
running back, I mean, he looks like telling you to
(01:25:46):
me my cop. He's darren Sprolls at k State. He
is just dominant.
Speaker 3 (01:25:50):
You know, he's the best running back in the country.
Speaker 1 (01:25:54):
Oh, he's good. So one of those two teams, if
they run the table, are you in agreement that they
are the representative?
Speaker 3 (01:26:00):
Yeah? Uh, the like the MAC is out of it
now you can cross them off. Like, if say, uh,
Northern Illinois ran the table, they would have gotten in
obviously they and they lost NC State. They should have won,
but they also lost it home to Buffalo Bowling Green
lost it on the Old Dominion and so every MAC
(01:26:21):
team has lost. They're done.
Speaker 1 (01:26:22):
So Northern Illinois lost twice since they beat Notre Dame.
Speaker 3 (01:26:25):
Yes, so it's not a good look for Notre Dame.
The yeah, I mean conference, I don't think Liberty is
getting in. Liberty had a game canceled against app State,
like and their schedules a joke. And we saw them
against Oregon get blasted last year, so I don't think
they're in the mix. So uh, they just don't have
(01:26:45):
to schedule strength the Sun Belt. Texas State was supposed
to be up there too, but they've lost two games.
They just lost their own to Sam Houston. James Madison
is the one wild card. This is a team they
lost everything all of a sudden. They're an offense juggernaut.
Of course, seventy on North Carolina, that's a good data point.
Kind is not great, but it's a Power five team.
You beat them on the road seventy to fifty, they
(01:27:06):
put up sixty I think sixty again last week. This
quarterback Barnett is going crazy. If Jamu they have an
easy schedule, they run the table. Maybe, But if if
either Fresno or Boise runs the table from here on out,
they're gonna get in over JMU. But JAMU, I think,
is the interesting name to keep an eye on elsewhere.
(01:27:28):
But yeah, Boise and Fresno, I mean Bois and UNLB
will play now Fresno after that, Yeah, yeah, they'll play
twice most likely because they'll probably play They're gonna play
in Vegas.
Speaker 1 (01:27:43):
They play in the regular season.
Speaker 3 (01:27:44):
Yeah, October twenty fifth, and I mean the rest of
Boise schedule is is pretty easy.
Speaker 1 (01:27:52):
So that game is you have to beat the other
team twice. Whoever wins that game has to win it again.
Yeah they split, but yeah, they're gonna be the front runners.
They have good data points to do you have to
put a power four team in?
Speaker 3 (01:28:02):
Do they have to or no, you mean a group
of five or you excuse yeah, yeah, the.
Speaker 1 (01:28:07):
High the non power four or five team. You know,
I guess the PAC twelve doesn't exist non power five
do they automatically get a bit.
Speaker 3 (01:28:14):
The highest rate highest ranked UH conference champion from the
group of five level the power four, so I is
guaranteed to guaranteed a spot which makes the They're probably
gonna be the twelve seed, which makes the five seed,
and you get a pretty uh if you don't win
(01:28:36):
your conference, getting that five is pretty big because you're
gonna play but.
Speaker 1 (01:28:40):
Like a Georgia Georgia or type team, that's a pretty
good spot.
Speaker 3 (01:28:43):
Instead of the sixth seed.
Speaker 1 (01:28:45):
You know, maybe you get the boys he gave them. Hell,
I mean that could be a rule. The NFL remax.
Speaker 3 (01:28:50):
Look, I think it's it's day CE. Maybe you get
h Army and Navy. There's a scenario this is on
our site if you to go down the weeds on
action dot com. The action never got where Army and
Navy are both undefeated and then they play each other. Well,
they play in the AC Championship. This is very unlikely,
(01:29:12):
but Army Navy both look good. Then they play again
again in the Army Navy game, but the College World
Playoff has to make their decision before it's a crazy
stund very unlikely. But yeah, at the Mountain West is
the clear favorite. I mean maybe if if Memphis or
two Lane gets hot, you know, but they've they already
(01:29:36):
have losses and the Mountain West is good data points
you and know the big wins already against powerboard teams
Boise with genty, which gives them sex appeals, so to speak.
But they they went toe to toe with the organ
should have won arguably that game in Eugene. So yeah,
I think they're their clear favorites and Mountain West brace
(01:29:56):
will be very fun to watch.
Speaker 1 (01:29:59):
Okay, Stucky, let's uh, let's keep this thing rolling. Let's
have a good weekend, and let's make some money.
Speaker 3 (01:30:04):
We'll see you next week. Brother.
Speaker 1 (01:30:06):
M the volume mm hmm
