doing well in the real world. John Middlecoff three and
out podcasts, and the Tush Push has survived. It did
not get banned. Jason Kelce worked the Room full of
Owners and Jeffrey Lurie also did gave a funny comment
(00:39):
and the Tush Push survives, so we will dive into that.
Brock Purty, we had some news or the details about
his contract and how much money he actually got, so
we will talk about that. We're gonna do a big
mail bag today as well at John Middlecoff. At John
Middlecoff is the Instagram firing those dms. Probably gonna be
my last podcast for the next couple days. I'm just

Speaker 1 (03:02):
The tush push has survived, and the Eagles and Jalen
Hurts and Nick Sirianni will get in short yard of
situations in the goal line and they will score touchdowns
and they will create first downs.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
And my overall take on this has been kind of indifferent,
and I'm typically on I would say polarizing topics not
usually a fence sitter. But I was unbothered by the play,
but also understood if it disappeared tomorrow, I wouldn't be faced.
Completely understood why the Eagles would want it, and I
understood the old school football guys like Mike Vrabel, going,
(03:39):
what are we actually talking about? This is a football play,
and they have a player who is better at this
than anyone else. If you have a quarterback who can
squat six hundred and fifty pounds, you would do the
same thing. We saw Josh Allen, one of the strongest,
most athletic players in the NFL, and an inability to
gain half a yard, and part of it was because,
(04:00):
unlike Jalen to go low, he had to go hi.
And so I was, I'm cool with this, and I
do understand the detractors. I get the NFL. I don't
get all caught up like Jeffrey Lurie. It's a healthy play.
Jason Kelcey, who has kind of gone viral that there
was a big ESPN dot com article about an impassioned
plea how him and Jerry Jones were watching film and
(04:25):
Jerry's like, listen, I don't want to give the Eagles
an advantage but makes a good point so that you
know the Jeffrey lury and how we break out the
big guns, bringing Kelsey to talk about this place, and
if we could run this sixty times a game, I'd
still be playing in the NFL. And listen, the reason
this works for the Eagles is they have a dominant
(04:46):
offensive line, but most importantly the quarterback. If the quarterback
was someone else, it would not be as effective. So
Jared Goff or Brock Purty or Josh Allen or just
go around the league Baker Mayfield. The advantage is the
strength of Jalen. And like Vrabel was saying, like what
stops us from doing this and that like defending the Eagles,
(05:08):
and I was like, yeah, I don't care. And some
of the comments to come out, you know, Jeffrey Lewy,
I guess gave like a long diatribe about the health
of this play and if you take this play out,
it'll actually make guys less safe, even for your teams,
and I guess dropped a line about a young child's
wet dream with how great this play is. And then
(05:31):
Troy Vincent, you know, went full ESPN was like, that's
offensive to the women in here. It's like, Troy, calm down, buddy.
Any person in this room offended by using the words
wet dream like, give me a break. This is this
multi billion dollar business. No one's offended by that classic
Jeffrey Leury line. But ultimately, this place survives, and I
(05:54):
think we're a year away if the Eagles dominate again
and they win. Like if the Eagles were winning six
seven games, no one would care, this would not be
a talking point. But they've been to two of the
last three Super Bowls and they just beat the shit
out of the Chiefs, and if they do it again,
if they go back to back and beat the crap
at everybody, And this play is obviously a huge part
(06:15):
of their arsenal because when they get down to the
goal line, they are scoring a touchdown. When they get
in a short yarded situation, they are moving the chains.
It's basically automatic and it will go away. But as
of right now, they get to use it another year.
And listen, the Eagles are obviously going to be one
of the heavy favorites to win the Super Bowl and
(06:35):
be a dominant team and be a playoff team and
probably win the division. So it's this story is not
going to go away, but the Eagles and use it,
utilizing Jason Kelcey, which Jed York tweeted about, like I
owe the guy a beer. You know, Listen, there are
certain guys that just can own a room and their passion,
their ability to connect, and they're just likable, like certain
(06:58):
human beings just resonate with other people because they are
just likable people. And Jason has always been one of
those guys, Like he could go into a room with anybody.
I mean, it's honestly the power of that individual. That's
why he him and his brother created a podcast with
like two years later it's worth one hundred million dollars.
You could put Jason in a room, you know, it's
(07:18):
some dive bar in some blue collar town with a
bunch of dudes making thirty forty thousand dollars a year,
and he would get along with them perfectly. You can
put him in a room with a bunch of guys
that are worth ten and eleven figures and have teams
worth five to ten billion dollars and they can have
normal conversations with them. It's just a skill that man possesses.
(07:39):
It's why you know, you typically the guys that communicate
in sports, whether it's a point guard, whether it's a
quarterback obviously the center, Like they usually can communicate well
with a lot of different people. And Kelsey's ability to
go in that room, like the Eagles aren't dumb, right,
a pretty smart organization. I don't think, I mean case scenario,
(08:00):
it went as well as it did bringing him in
because let's face it, like, and I don't blame it.
We're all selfish. I say it all the time people
in One thing I've talked to Maria a lot about
since we've been dating, is like sometimes she gets really
caught up when you know things in business don't go away.
It's like people are selfish. So when you go into
the mindset, not trying to fuck the other person, but
(08:22):
just realize, like at the end of the day, they
will make a decision with themselves their family first. That's
never gonna change. And it's never really changed. And I
think the Eagles were selfish on this. They don't want
to lose the play. I don't blame them, and I
bet there were a lot of people in the room
who are kind of like whatever, like I keep it great,
(08:44):
like me and bringing Jason kelcey in clearly. I think
Florio reported on it. It swung several teams like the Browns,
the Lions, Like it's a big deal. I mean, twenty
two to ten pretty close. I mean, you're just two
votes away from this thing going bye bye. So I
do feel pretty confident if the Eagles win again. Honestly,
they don't even need to win the Super Bowl. If
(09:04):
they just have a twelve or thirteen win season and
they're deep in the playoffs, this conversation is not going
to stop. And the Packers admitted, like the NFL use
them as a guinea pick. The Packers did not care. Again,
the Packers like most of us like whatever, Like yeah,
the play is kind of boring, we know the outcome,
but like it's their advantage. The NFL utilized them to
(09:27):
be at the forefront of like get rid of this thing,
and people within the Packers like, yeah, it wasn't that
big a deal to us, Like we actually kind of
respect it. So the NFL will do that again next
year because if this play is the conversation about it,
you could argue has only gotten bigger. So congrats the
Eagles fans. You got a pitch that you can continue
(09:49):
to use and it's very very effective. So I would
expect Jalen Hurts and those guys to get some extra
touchdowns because of this play, because that's what they always do. Okay,
rock Party. I was thinking about this because listen, when
a story breaks, I mean part of the business. I'm
in one huge advantage a little inside baseball here that
(10:10):
I have over Let's say I had a three hour
radio show. Is news breaks on anything, I can immediately
do a YouTube video and then repurpose that and put
it on my podcast feed the moment the news breaks.
It could be at midnight, it could be at seven
in the morning, it could be at three in the afternoon,
(10:31):
where historically, like if you have a radio show, well,
if your show's from three to six, if the news
breaks after that show, nothing you can do till the
following day. And it's a huge advantage we have here.
So obviously NFL news in some of these stories, especially
in the off season, are just a must to have
an instant reaction. And the other day, I guess it
(10:52):
would have been Friday, I was literally walking out the
doors like three in the afternoon to meet my buddy
Jeffong and a couple other buddies and go play like
nine holes and have a couple of cocktails. It's Friday afternoon,
enjoy some sun. And the news breaks and we were
teeing off in like thirty minutes. I'm like, listen, I'm
gonna be a little late. I gotta give a reaction
(11:14):
to brock perty and Schefter's tweet is he got five years,
two hundred and sixty five million dollars, and then ten
five minutes later it comes out a little more detail,
one hundred and eighty eight million dollars guaranteed. But NFL
contracts are not like I mean, one of the biggest
conversations going on right now in baseball. Do the Mets
regret Wan Soda because the moment they pay Wan Sodo
(11:37):
just like all these baseball contracts, I'm giving you five six,
seven hundred million dollars. We don't need to go. Let's
wait for the details. Let's see if there are injury guarantees,
if there are offsets, if there are dates in the
off season. No, every fucking penny is guaranteed. I mean,
we've seen it in the NBA forever. It's like, wait,
(11:59):
they just okay, who two hundred million dollars. It's like
that is insane. And all these contracts in baseball and
basketball are guaranteed, and in baseball a lot of the time,
it's like he signed a five hundred million dollar contract
and he can opt out every couple of years, where
it's the complete opposite in the NFL, and it's always
(12:19):
been the push like guaranteed money. That's not the way
we run our business because we have way more players
and the injury risk here that would be a disaster.
And do you know who benefits the most from the
non guaranteed money, Because when Perty's contract came out, Flourio
on Pro Football Talk did a breakdown. It's actually the
moment he signs the contract one hundred and fifteen million dollars.
(12:43):
To put that into context, Jalen Green, who most people
around the NBA thinks like a backup, got one hundred
and four million dollars last offseason. So Perty, like, listen,
there's injury guarantees and some other stuff, but truly the
money guaranteed the moment he signed the contract at a
franchise worth eight point six billion dollars and he's the
(13:03):
starting quarterback, got one hundred and fifteen million dollars guarantee
and a forty million dollars signing bonus. So I think
sometimes like the NFL takes a lot of flak and
they run their business completely different than these other sports.
It's the reason their sport is the most healthy because
they can pivot out of things like if this brock
Purty situation, I think it's gonna go well. I think
(13:25):
brock Purty is a good player, and watching him talk today, Listen,
this comparison isn't apples to apples because the other guy's
one of the best players I've ever seen. But he
reminds me a lot the way he cut and conducts himself,
the way he acts, the way he talks like Scotti Scheffler. Now,
Scotty Scheffler is gonna go down as one of the
greatest players ever. Obviously, brock Purty is not as good
(13:47):
at his sport as Scotty Scheffler is at his sport.
But just he's one of those guys completely unfazed by money,
will will not be impacted one iota, absolutely zero. Now
is he good enough? Especially the way we're gonna talk
about him now, we're gonna find out in the next
couple of years. But if he's not and this is
(14:07):
a problem and he either regresses or he gets exposed
or whatever, which again I don't think is gonna be
the case, the forty nine ers in that after the
twenty twenty six season can get out of this thing.
And that's why the league's healthy, because most of these contracts,
even these crazy quarterback contracts, are like three year deals
(14:27):
where we see in these other sports, these albatross contracts
that you just can't move. It's like, this is a
do you know who get screwed? The fans, the consumers,
and there is not a business model that is more
consumer friendly than this one. Now, if perty is just solid,
he's gonna see all this money. It's let's use car
as the example. Derek Carr actually gave back some money
(14:51):
this year, but will have made over two hundred million
dollars guaranteed in his career. Why because he was good
enough to just keep being the starter for year after year,
year after year after year. And that's most of these guys, right,
So I would expect him to be solid and him
to make a lot of this money. But you always
have the out if it's a problem and I think
(15:13):
that is the healthiest thing that the NFL does is
does not tie themselves to this crazy guaranteed money that
these former players are like, we are getting screwed. Well,
you're actually getting highly compensated, but we're taking a huge
risk because you can get injured at any moment. So
it's like if we did these other contracts like baseball
or like basketball, you would be unable to get rid
(15:35):
of any of these guys and the fan would get
royally screwed. Okay, a couple other things in the NFL.
This just made me laugh. You know, today, I guess
Caleb Williams refused to talk to the media, and unlike Rory,
who did this last week, I twenty one, twenty two,
you're in this story that has to do with something
(15:57):
that's happened eighteen months ago. Some of it involves your dad,
Like like what am I I'm on this team? What
am I gonna say if I was his age younger guy?
Like if it was an older player, And you know,
there was some story like this, like you gotta face
the music. I give the guy a little grace. But
Ben Johnson came out today and said it's come to
(16:18):
my attention that over this past week our quarterback has
been in the media, not saying like Caleb as but
just that this has been a big story. I love
it when like a Green, a new, young, kind of
hot shot coach, tries to come out with a lot
like this. Ben, It's come to your attention. You live
(16:40):
in fucking Chicago. Hell, you were on Collins show last
week and he asked you about it. It's come to
your attention. No, it's just the story. Is the story now.
If you want to respond as he did and say, listen,
I haven't been here my only experience, that's fine. I
got no problem with that. But when you start and
open up with a cheesy line, it just made me laugh.
It's come to your attention? Do you think that story
(17:02):
for a guy this is the head coach of the
Bears who's living in Chicago local TV. Listen, I'm not
even that big of like a local TV guy, But
when you live somewhere, it's inevitable that you end up
like especially if you're just watching a basketball game and
it's on ABC that ends all of a sudden, You're
watching the local news and you just see some stories.
It is for him to downplay like it's just kind
(17:24):
of floating out there. My media pr guy gave me
his story just made me chuckle. I just I love
a good kind of like cheesy, nerdy response to something
that is a complete lie. Cam Ward signed his contract.
I think if you're a Titans fan, you gotta be
pretty excited. Hope is a powerful thing, man. Belief is
(17:45):
a powerful thing, you know. Sometimes you see like I
was listening to Bill Simmons and he did like this thing,
like should uh some of these fake NBA trades, and
some of them include, you know, the number one overall
pick with the Dallas Mavericks with Koop listen, Cooper Flag
might be the next Andrew Locker paid Manning. He also
could just be like a solid starting quarterback. Right you
(18:08):
have no clue what you're getting. You think like it's
it's probably gonna go well, and I more than likely
he'll be an All Star. But there's no guarantee. But
the hope of no different with Arch Manning no different
when Caleb was drafted. The hope of what could be
is more powerful than already knowing. And when you see
guys that like in the NFL, because if I went, hey, Tennessee.
(18:32):
Cam Ward is gonna be like Kyle. Let's just let's
say I threw this out. He's gonna be like Kyler
Murray meets Kirk Cousins. He like, it's like what if
I went, like, you know, he's gonna have a He's
gonna be like eighty percent of Patrick Mahomes. Sounds a
lot better. And whenever you have a situation like last
year and you had to witness Will Levis in the
quarterback position, couldn't have been any worse. It's just it's
(18:55):
pretty refreshing. And listen, I didn't know that much about
cam Ward, but watching some of his comments, I want
a couple guys with the Titans. They are very, very
bullish on this human And that's the thing. Back to
Purty and listen, a lot of the guys that aren't
Mahomes or Josh Allen Lamar, who are all high character,
elite guys. But the way you become like seven through twelve,
(19:16):
typically you got to be a high level cat from
a work ethic standpoint, from a film study standpoint, from
a recovery standpoint. Like most of the guys in that
next tier, you know the Jared Goffs. The Jalen Hurts
is you know purty first first couple of years, you
just kind of go, like Dak Prescott when he's healthy,
it's like usually checking all the boxes off the field.
(19:38):
It's pretty rare. It's like, yeah, this guy's kind of
a douche, doesn't really work that hard, but you know
he's seventh best quarterback in the NFL. Usually not how
it works. So if I was a Titans fan, I'd
be pretty pretty excited. And last, but not least, this one.
If listen, it's tough spot for John Spytech. You know,
(19:59):
Pete Carroll's in charge of hiring his coaches and hire
Chip Kelly, who that he got. Chip Kelly's making some
serious cash now just being an assistant coach. I mean,
talk about a guy just went full mercenary cashing them checks,
got the Raiders to give him three years eighteen million
dollars to be the offensive coordinator. And Ashton Genty, who
has anyone that watched him play? You know, if you
(20:20):
watch a lot of running backs right the way they're
standing behind the quarterback, they're in like an athletic position.
They are ready to explode. And then there are certain guys.
I think Derrick Henry's a little like this, but Ashton
Genty is literally just standing there. He's just like standing.
He's like a wrecked right, straight up and down. No,
no athletic posture, Like the first thing they teach you,
(20:41):
like if you're playing infield in Little league is like
bend your knees, get down right, you know, have a
good like little shoulder witch stance. Athletic no different than
you play like seventh grade or sixth grade basketball, right,
open your feet, bend, be able to be an athletic position.
That is not how Ashton Genty is as a as
a running back. Yet it created from Boise State, a
(21:06):
top six pick, right, and the first thing Chip Kelly
does is change his stance, and Ashton Genzy's like, you know,
super high character, good guy. Kind of felt like gave in,
but it wasn't something that I you know, this is
a weird situation. My take would be, as a front
office GM, can we just let him do what made
(21:28):
him be until we have to change it? Like, should
this be something that we change immediately? My pushback would
be no, If we like him enough to draft him
six overall, could we just leave him standing there in
the backfield literally before the ball is snapped, just unfazed
before that becomes a problem. So that that would be
(21:51):
I'm not trying to be a Raider hater. I'm pro Listen,
people think I was anti Ashton Genty. He's an excellent player,
He's a special prospect. I'm not disagreeing. I just the
running back value. Drafting guys, we can argue that till
we're blue in the face. But if I'm going to
draft him, I'm gonna let the fucking guy be him,
not change his stance the first thing I do. So
(22:13):
uh yeah, Chip Kelly has made ash Genty change the
way that he lines up. So yeah, the NBA Finals
are almost here and every play could be the one
that changes everything. This is the NBA Playoffs, where heroes rise,
legacies are built, and the action never lets up. With Draftings,

Okay, mail back time at John Middlecoff at John Middlecoff
is my Instagram. Fire in those dms. Get your questions
answered on the show. Let's start with Will had a
couple of cocktails the other night and would like to
reward my question. He'd asked the question and they rewarded.
It happened to us all been there, buddy. If you're
(24:39):
in the dogshit franchise category and need to turn things around,
how do you balance taking swings at quarterback with building
the team if you truly believe the team is a
quarterback away? Can you blame the Falcons Jets Broncos two
years ago for betting on one player that flips your
franchise around. Being in a rebuilding purgatory seems worse, obviously,
(25:02):
paying Kirk ninety million guaranteed is reaching. But if you
roll out another quarterback for a whole season, you will
lose fans and remain irrelevant. We don't have diehard fans
like other franchises. The Falcons have had one top five
draft positions since twenty nineteen two thousand and nine, Matt
Ryan third overall and eight, So they can't just bet
(25:25):
on getting their franchise quarterback from the draft. What would
you do differently, I'm not acting like finding your franchise
quarterback is easy. It's not like you said you typically
even if you draft high, we know how often you miss.
I supported what the Denver Broncos did when they traded
for Russell Wilson blew up in their face. You know,
(25:47):
when they traded for Aaron Rodgers. He was much older
than Russell, so there was risk involved. But like, I
totally understood those two trades. But drafting a guy high,
Zach Wilson, Trey Lance, justin Field doesn't guarantee anything. So
I hear you. I'm not talking about the whole philosophy
of like now we can argue like are we playing
(26:08):
Monday Morning Quarterback? About Kyle Pitts probably little, So I'm
not gonna argue about that draft pick in general, but
just the Kirk Cousins move. He was thirty six years
old coming off of torn Achilles, and he's an awful athlete,
so there was a ton of risk involved there. Now
(26:31):
ultimately says Arthur Blank's money. But I think on that
specific move where I have an issue with it is
if you loved Michael Pennix, which clearly they did, the
GM and his coach, he should have had those guys
be all over comparing Michael Pennix knowing they're drafting eighth.
You know when did Raheem get the job in January?
(26:53):
So once agains the offensive coordinator, that should have been
their main priority of comparing Pennix to Cousins in I
don't know all of February at least mid to late
February and early March before you made that decision, So
to me, it felt very like a haphazard like they're
just kind of yeah, like no direction. So I that's
(27:16):
my issue with that individual move. Big picture, I hear
what you're saying. I don't disagree that it's difficult, but
they had the eighth overall pick and then they fell
in love with Michael Pennix. But they had just given
all this money when they needed a bunch of help
on defense, and they had ninety million dollars to give,
you could have got a couple guys for like forty
five million dollars each. That's my issue there with that
(27:39):
specific thing. Now, over the course, there's probably other situation,
like individual situations, but I'm I'm not even talking about that.
My issue with Desmond Ridder is didn't they draft them
in the third round. Let me just I just want
to get my facts straight here. Desmond Ridder was drafted
(28:00):
did in the third round, seventy fourth pick, So that's
a pretty good pick. If you watched him in that
Bowl game. I forget who they played, but they they Yeah,
they went thirteen to zero and they played Oh yeah
they played Alabama. I get Alabama's a better team, but
it was like watching like what are we doing here?
(28:21):
This is not He felt completely overwhelmed physically just to
make basic throws. I remember watching that because Cincinnati Sauce
Gardner that team was stacked running back. Forget what team
he's on, but he's a good player. I mean, they
got they had a bunch of NFL dudes and they
ran the table with Fickle. They were legit. And then
I remember thinking like, oh, thatsman, Rare is good because
(28:41):
he had had a big season. He had thirty and
eight sixty five percent, like he was really good that year.
But I remember watching that Alabama game going, oh, man,
I don't know, I don't know about this, and they
still drafted him the third round. Ever since the playoffs
have been restructured to have seven teams from each conference,
(29:04):
there has always been one division with three playoff teams
In this upcoming season, do you believe this trend will
continue where three teams from the same division make it
to the playoffs. Below is a list of the divisions
who have had three playoff teams in the past five years.
Twenty one NFC West, twenty two NFC East, twenty three
(29:25):
AFC North. Last year, the AFC West and the NFC North. Yeah,
I would think the AFC West has a pretty good chance. Again,
I would you know, you're basically a lock to have
two teams. Who's the biggest lock to have two teams?
(29:47):
You would say the NFC East with the Eagles in Washington,
feel like a lock. The AFC West between the Chiefs,
Chargers and Broncos feel like a lock. The AFC North
feels like a lock right between some rotation. I mean,
the Ravens are in, the Steelers make it a lot,
(30:10):
and the Bengals hard for them to mit. You could
say the North, it just seems like, yeah, it's gonna happen.
Curious what type of season it would take from Hunter
for Gladstone and the Jags to look like geniuses. Well,
in fairness to Gladstone and Travis Hunter, you draft a
(30:31):
guy and you trade a future first round pick to
move up from five to two. You don't determine your career,
as I almost said a freshman as a rookie, like
he could have fifty catches and make some plays on defense.
People like oh solid, Like you don't get to make
a determination after one year, like Jalen Carter is a
lot more interesting after a second year than you first
(30:53):
year is interesting player. But I mean you watch them
after last year, so it's you can give them all
the time. You get a couple of years. You know
you now he could make him look like a genius
is immediately if he dominates, I mean if he catches
ten touchdowns and has a bunch of interceptions like he's
they're gonna look like geniuses and they win ten games
and make the playoffs and win the division. Yeah, I'll
(31:13):
look at a genius. But if it doesn't go perfectly,
you can't just basically, in sharpie say it was the
worst move of all time. I started watching football every
week in nine when I started playing myself question, what
is the best roster or short lists of rosters you
(31:36):
ever saw that did not win a Super Bowl? For me,
it was the forty nine ers of eleven through thirteen.
They just had the misfortune of running into Eli a
loaded raven squad in the Seahawks lob. It's a good question.
I think the best team I saw, and I was
(31:57):
going to a lot of games from like twenty ten.
The twenty seventeen eighteen range Niners team was pretty good,
but like you know, Alex had some flaws. In Kaepernick
while very explosive, I mean, in his prime an elite
runner and great you know, his fastball, pushing balls down
(32:17):
the field, but he didn't have great touch. So like
their quarterback play relative to some of these other teams
like that, that was a huge differential aiding factor is
like Russell was just a better player. Now, this team
won a super Bowl, But I think the best team
I saw was top to bottom was the Broncos with
Peyton Manning. Now, the team that won it with Peyton
(32:37):
Manning in whatever year that was sixteen, Peyton was a
shell of himself. But those first three years, i mean offensively,
defensively they were. It was stupid how good they were.
So yeah, I mean, I don't see how many teams
during that era it didn't win. There were a couple
of Steeler teams they were pretty good. I mean the
(32:58):
heyday of Antonio Brown. You know, the Patriots own them,
but they played the Patriots. You know, the Steelers beat
the Chiefs I think in the second round in like sixteen.
Then they played the Patriots and Leveon injured is growing,
so it just wasn't really a game. But that those
teams were pretty good. I'm a lifelong Seahawks fan, and
(33:22):
while I have a ton of faith in Schneider, I
am confused on our quarterback round. I'm curious to hear
your take on what you think the plan is for
Milroe and Darnold, because I'm not sure Also, do you
think Schneider is a top five GM in the league
right now? If so, where in the top five, And
do you like the direction of the Seahawks are moving.
I think Jalen Milroe to them was like, I'm invested
(33:46):
in a couple of these right now. The stock let's
just I'm not going to give the exact stock, but
I'm down. I'm down, but this was a play I
continue to put my if this thing hits, like, I'm
betting on it being like a twenty exer, but there's
a chance that I just lose I mean a substantial
(34:08):
amount of money. I'm not rich enough to where it's
like I lose, you know, fifty grand just goes away.
I'd be I'd be I'd be pissed. But it's a
risk I feel value in taking right And I mean,
I'm actually closer to six figures in this thing. But
it's just it's one of these things that could maybe
(34:29):
change the life of my future children and or maybe
it just goes belly up. And I think that's what
Jalen Milroe is to the Seahawks, that it's like, if
it works best case scenario, we have a dynamic some
version of Lamar Jackson. I mean, that's that's and if
it doesn't like whatever, we gave a third rounder, but
(34:52):
like it could change our franchise. And Sam Donald, like
Jalen Milroe can't start Week one. Our plan is to
win ten games and we get Sam Donald for' Bern
Gino smith who ARE oc knows and it gets us.
Going so Drafting Jalen milroe really doesn't have that much
to do With Sam donald Because Jalen milroe can't start
right now And Sam donald can and you're trying to
(35:15):
make the. Playoffs and if next Year Jalen milroe takes
a huge, step maybe beats him out and you can
Trade Sam. Donald BUT i think it was a calculated. Risk,
listen do you ever just want to give away third round?
Picks of course. Not they Got Russell wilson once upon
a time in the third. Round but, like if this thing,
hits it could change our. Franchise and that's you, KNOW
(35:40):
i think for those of us that like to gamble in,
investing to, me there's a lot of gambling in, Investing
LIKE i kind of like the rush of something like
this could be, big or this could blow up in my,
face you, know and that's what taking a guy Like Jalen. Milroe,
Now Anthony richson's a better example of like risking everything
you got at. Pick it's way, less like doesn't do
(36:03):
much if you, lose like a third round, pick he busts.
Whatever but that was the mindset behind. There AND i
think if all gms were available from scratch and there
was a, DRAFT i Think John schneider would go in
the top. Five, YES i think he's a. Stud fan
of the. Show i'm super excited for the flag Football
(36:26):
olympics team in twenty twenty. Eight curious to hear who
you would put on that. Roster the game isn't, Contact
so my thought Is Josh allen or some of these
bigger bodied positional guys would have less impact in a
flag football. SETTING i Have Lamar, Jackson Saquon, Barkley Justin,
Jefferson Jamar, Chase ceedee Lamp, Brock, Bauers George. Kittle let's
(36:49):
Get brady to show up at forty seven forty eight
and play on this. TEAM i think he would do. It,
UH i don't know If, SAQUON i don't. KNOW i
don't really know that rules like are you handing the
ball off in flag. FOOTBALL i, LISTEN i could be,
stupid but are? YOU i don't think you. Are to.
(37:10):
Me Like Jamiir, Gibbs saquan's hands like the one downfall Of,
saquon and downfall is the wrong way to describe. It
the ONE i would say somewhat of a liability for
just an all around elite. Players i'd Say saquon's hands are.
Average they're not, bad but they're Not marshall falk OR
(37:33):
lt Or christian. McCaffrey i would Go gibbs there BECAUSE
i think you're throwing a lot of like wheel. Routes
SO i don't Think saquon would be the. GUY i,
mean you could pick a million. Receivers there is no
receiver ON usa flag football who is better THAN i
mean one HUNDRED nfl wide. Receivers so obviously you Go,
(37:56):
Jefferson Chase, lamb LIKE i think you could go like
ran them, Dudes like you could take a guy from The.
Jags you could take a guy from The you take
whoever you want. It jacks Have Brian, thomas like you
could take. Whoever they would. DOMINATE i Think Kyler murray
would be the greatest flag football. Player. EVER i mean,
ever because he's got a stronger arm Than. LAMAR i
(38:22):
just feel Like Kyler. MURRAY i don't know WHEN i
think flag football even more Than, lamar And lamar is
like one of the greatest athletes of all. TIME i
feel Like kyler'd be my number one. Pick kind of
a wild, idea but what if teams put a power
back at quarterback when they ran the toush. Push teams
know it's, coming and The eagles do it and still
(38:42):
can't stop. IT i understand that running backs are a
bit smaller in terms of, height that might not, work
but someone Like Derrick henry under center would be. Unstoppable
he's an. Anomaly but even if you had a powerback
who's five to ten or, so like a pre Injury Nick,
CHUBB i think you can stay. Low i'm sure they're
factors like taking snaps under center that could be. RISKY
(39:03):
i think that's a big. Thing you, know we talk
about this a lot with a. Quarterback the, quarterbacks the
center quarterback exchange is like the most fundamental part of just.
OFFENSE i, mean the offense cannot operate if you can't
get lined up and the ball. SNAPPED i do think
snapping the, ball those guys make it look a little
(39:27):
easier than like IF i just put my running back
down there and IF i, fumble if it's a tie. Game,
right let's say it's twenty to twenty and you do
what you're, doing And COACH x rolls out his running.
Back twenty to twenty five minutes, left we're at the
fifty yard, line it's fourth and. One i'm, Like i'm not.
(39:49):
Punning i'm playing to win the game right. NOW i
roll up my running back to Do Jalen hurts and
the center quarterback, exchange it fumbles and their defensive tackle
falls on, it and they drive and win the. Game
your coach would get. Destroyed SO i hear what you're.
Saying it is that exchange is not as easy AS
(40:12):
i think the way we just act like it. Is
anyone that's ever been to a college, practice even a
high level high school, practice like you spend time just
working on that exchange while the running back's doing other.
Stuff so it's you only get so much time on
the practice.

Speaker 2 (41:01):
CHANNEL i love the. Pod loved what you said the
other day about girls in THE nfl like. Football uh,
oh this is this Is. Emma so we got a lady.
Here i'm a Dire chiefs, fan not Because Taylor swift
fan way, before and coustiously optimistic for upcoming. Season CAN
i stop you right? There if you're A chiefs, fan
(41:23):
like the only thing that you should be excited for
is give me the date week. ONE i, mean five
Super bowls in six, years one of the greatest quarterbacks
ever and the best coach in THE. Nfl cautiously, optimistic
fucking throw cautiously in the. Trash you are optimistic until
(41:44):
told otherwise every single season moving forward like you have
been for the last several Flaws like who's gonna play left.
Guard who's gonna be our slot? Receiver who gives a?
Shit we Got, patty we Got, spags and we Got.
Andy we're gonna be. Okay feels like everyone is expecting
(42:04):
us to go in a ten year drought Like brady.
Did do you see that From? Mahomes, also what are
you thinking about the on line? EDITIONS i got mixed.
Feelings i'm hoping we can get more explosive on. Offense
you guys are gonna be. Fine you guys are gonna be.
Fine you won fifteen games last, year fifteen beat The
bills in THE Anc championship, game who had just beat The.
(42:26):
Ravens you beat The ravens the year. Before you guys
are gonna be. Fine i'll promise. YOU i think it's
a little bit like the better version of What andy
had in the mid two thousands With donovan. McNabb you,
know Until Terrell owens got, there they did not have
a bunch of high named wide. Receivers they were a great,
defense they had good running, backs and they had a
(42:46):
good offensive. Line, obviously your offensive line needs to be.
Better but what do you Think Andy reid is at his?
Core he's an offensive lineman gonna be. FINE i would
not bet against The. Chiefs wanted to get your thoughts
on the T wolves In thunder. GAME i understand That
sga is a, superstar AND i won't take that away
(43:06):
from but even a non basketball player or casual basketball
viewer can see that a lot of these calls for
him were. Absurd in my, opinion it's looking worse Than
harden was. Getting what are your, Thoughts, well your boy
might have Made i'd say the biggest Bet i've made
in twenty twenty. FIVE i had forty five hundred dollars
in my account because of THE Pga. Championship now that
(43:30):
wasn't technically. Winnings it was just like getting my money,
back and, SOME i mean some of it was previous,
winnings AND i basically just rolled that over with the
nextra five hundred dollars and put five g's on The
thunder or excuse, me on the T wolves to win
because they were plus two seventy to win the. Series
obviously The thunder are, good but my overall take is
sixty eight wins is the Greatest fugazi number in the
(43:53):
history of professional. Sports and that's not a shot at The,
thunder it's a shot at the people they. PLAYED a
third of the league tanked all season. Long another five
teams you can add to that list after Like, christmas
and then even the good teams take ten to twenty
games off a. Year so it's, like if you try really,
(44:14):
HARD i saw this when The warriors won twenty three
OR i won seventy three in two thousand and, sixty, fifteen,
sixteen whatever year that was the year Before durant got.
THERE a huge part of their success they tried every.
Night and in the, league if you are, young hungry
and try every night and you're, talented you're gonna win
(44:35):
at minimum. Sixty and so it's, like listen to The thunder are,
good but after watching them against The, nuggets ain't the
fucking Fifteen. WARRIORS i didn't think so plus two, Seventy i'm,
Like i'm hammermering The, Wolves LIKE i Get, shay he's
gonna win THE, mvp but, like why Couldn't ant be
the best player in the. Series and then you're watching
(44:56):
last night and, Listen shay's getting some. Calls my bigger,
issue obviously the. REFEREES i hate the hardened style of baiting.
FOULS i despise that type. Basketball my bigger issue though
in the, game was you Have Anthony, edwards who is
like a Young Kobe Bryant Michael jordan level. Athlete he
should be attacking their throats every single, Play LIKE i.
(45:19):
Get the three pointers a big part of. Basketball and,
listen The warriors are my favorite team of all. Time
that stretch of like ten years Was Steph clay And
draymond and the couple years Would, drant but Mainly Steph
clay And draymond and Specifically Stephan clay the way they.
Played So i'm pro three, pointers but, like after a,
while if you're not hitting three, pointers like try something.
Else and they just kept gunning three. Pointers it was.
(45:41):
Crazy it's like you have AND i get he kind
of rolled his, ankle but do you have the best
athlete on the. FLOOR i ALREADY i don't regret my,
bet BUT i hate it WHEN i look At DraftKings
and it was plus two seventy to win the series
and now it's like plus forty five. Hundred it's. Shit
i'm still feeling. Good we just got to Win game,
(46:02):
Two so, attack, attack, Attack and, again in what World
i've defended THE nfl Against Patrick mahomes on. This you
should not be able to fake go out of bounce
like that's. Horseshit you should be flagged and he's not.
Alone other quarterbacks have done. That if you do the
fake and keep on, going you get a fifteen yard.
Penalty the baiting of, fowls and there's a difference of
(46:25):
like being smart about a bait and doing some of the.
STUFF i, Mean harden was it was ridiculous after a,
while but the referees always turned on him in the
playoffs and he'd melt like you, know ice on An
arizona summer. DAY i JUST i hate watching that style of.
Basketball BUT i hate WHAT i hate even more is
(46:45):
AND i haven't bet on THE nba all season, long
beside actually One warriors game in the, playoffs which part
of the REASON i had the money in my opera
was AGAINST i think The, rockets Like game one or.
Two BUT i JUST i hate watching a team shoot
pointer after three pointer after three, pointer and it's like, clank, clank.
Clank it's, LIKE i don't, know, Guys let's just get
(47:08):
a different fucking shot and make a. Basket their lead
is growing and growing as you keep hitting the. Rim
huge fan of The. RAVENS i recently had a debate
with some friends while having a few. Beers it takes
about three or four beers to get us going into
AN nfl. DISCUSSION i feel you, there, buddy gotta love.
It my question for you today is do you Think
(47:28):
Lamar jackson can be considered a top ten quarterback of
all time if he wins at least One Super bowl
and one MORE. Mvp aside from him his improved throwing
ability over the, years and he's the best rushing quarterback,
EVER i think he would make a valid argument talent.
WISE i can't put too many guys over. HIM i
(47:48):
can't admit he's yet to get over the playoff. Hunt
But peyton was the same way and didn't win one
until he was. Thirty by the, way one of my
friends bet me one thousand dollars That lamar will never
win The Super, bowl not contingent on the fact that
he can Ring chase later in his. Career if he
doesn't win one In, BALTIMORE i think he has three
to five. Years what he plays for one of the
(48:10):
best organizations in the, league so his team's always going
to be, good and it just like going into this,
SEASON i think they're clearly one of the best teams
in the, league and he's obviously a huge part of.
That and when the season, STARTS i, mean they're on
the short list of four or five teams that can
do you feel confident going The ravens can win The Super.
Bowl but he's got to. Play you, Know he's now
(48:33):
had back to back years of just an atrocious interception
in the. Playoffs and one of the things with playoff
football is, like we don't need the sexy stuff all the,
time and he gets he does that during the regular.
SEASON i, MEAN i would say one of the best
Players i've ever seen him make was one of the
games against The bengals where he ran back and, forth
(48:55):
did like a three to sixty and ended up throwing a.
Touchdown it's one of the greatest plays he's ever. MADE i,
mean his highlight plays in the regular. SEASON i bet
when his career, ends you could put his highlight plays
up there with anyone in the history. League the playoffs
is more about like playing, smart not turning the ball
over and getting first, downs AND i think that's what
they gotta. Do play smart, football no. Turnovers you could
(49:19):
argue the fumble against The bills where he like tripped
and he put the ball down and it kind of
hit freakish. Play the interceptions cannot, happen not in those,
games because you're going to be in a game that
it's going to be determined by probably less than a.
Touchdown so IF i give you an interception and that
turns into three or worst case scenario, seven that could
(49:39):
be a ten to fourteen point. Swing SO i Believe
Lamar jackson is good enough to win A Super. BOWL
i would not have said that three or four years.
Ago but he has to, translate you, know part of
LIKE i think we use the basketball, analogy like why
Does James harden have so much problems the? Playoffs it's
(50:01):
because all the shit he's doing in the regular, season
like no one. Cares it's about playing smart basketball in
a playoff, series especially in a game, five six and.
Seven you, know like we don't need fifty points at.
Anybody we see like twenty four in playing under control
and playing smart and sometimes like he kind of gets
lost in no man's land and, LISTEN i Think Lamar
(50:22):
jackson's way better Than James harden at their individual. Sports
BUT i do think he's got to take Like Patrick
mahomes is really good at, that just playing like a smart.
Game we're just not gonna turn the ball. Over we're
not evenna score that many. Points But i'm gonna play
at a high level intelligence Like i'm gonna use The
(50:43):
i'm not gonna let you beat. Me i'm A bronco.
Fan we had a Green Law hufunga and the rookie From.
Texas on. Offense we had an absolute weapon In, harvey
who has A we had an absolute weapon In. Harvey
he was a sneaky great signing In. Ingram we were
plus forty thousand to win The Super. Bowl so, basically
(51:05):
bete hundred win four. Thousand does that not seem like
a great value as a? Flyer bet the ceiling for
this defense could be on par with the fifteen defense
seems a little high to. ME i saw that. DEFENSE i,
mean they had Von miller in their. PRIME i Like,
benito but Von miller in his prime is one of
the greatest players in the history of the. League you
had where you Had, wolf you Had Malik, jackson you
(51:28):
had three elite corners in Teleeb Chris harrison the slot
and Young roby might not have been a, leap But
roby was pretty. Good you could hit back, then so
you HAD Tj. Ward who would you? Know, absolutely mollywop
You Brandon marshall was a good. Linebacker you Had. Travathan
(51:51):
that defense is as good as Defense i've ever seen
life that In seattle and The harbot nine ers were pretty.
Good BUT i think those defense or. Faster. MAYBE i,
mean you guys are. GOOD i wouldn't need a lot
out of Bow. KNICKS i like bow, Knicks but DO
(52:12):
i close my eyes and see bow knicks win The
Super bowl in year? Two seems like pretty? Crazy But
i'm with you pretty good. Value you guys are gonna be.
GOOD i think the fifteen defense though it feels like
a pretty Big, again this sport was, different so maybe.
Right what are your thoughts on THE nfl team owners
(52:34):
allowing one player per team to play flag football in
the Upcoming. Olympics, also which players are you picking from
each team and why IF i own the? Team if
you own the, team think about the players are gonna
want for flag. Football they're not gonna want your right.
Guard they're gonna Want Lamar. Jackson they're gonna Want christian
McCaffrey or you know Aj, brown, right they're gonna Want Tyreek.
(52:59):
Hill they're gonna want the best offensive players in THE.
Nfl it's, like, WAIT i gave this guy one hundred
plus million dollars and he's going to go in a
situation against people THAT i have no clue who they.
Are that it's gonna be a big. Deal LIKE i
would not sign off on letting. THEM i would not
(53:20):
be comfortable doing. THAT i would. Not and it's one
thing in some of these, sports like one The, olympics you,
know For Michael phelps or a skier or whoever, swimmer
it's that's their Super. Bowl but in, football The Super
bowl is a Super, bowl you, Know, LIKE i would
not be comfortable with. That remember a, long long time,
(53:42):
AGO i forget his first, name but his last NAME
i think Was. EDWARDS i think this is late, nineties
might have been like ninety seven ninety, eight one of
the best young running backs in THE nfl played for The,
patriots and The Pro bowl used to have LIKE i
think it was, volleyball and and he came down funny
on the sand and his leg was, ruined his career was.
(54:05):
OVER i think they ended volleyball right then and. There
BUT i would struggle with, yeah just uh, yeah ceedee.
Lamb yeah take. Him he's gonna play in The olympics against, Uh,
China mexico And. India, yeah, no no, problem what no? Chance,
NOW i get IF i was the, Player i'd want
(54:26):
to do, That BUT i would really struggle as an,
owner as a, coach as A gm trusting this whole,
SITUATION i would not feel comfortable with. It. Again WOULD
i give let my fifth wide receiver? Go for? Sure
but it's, like, hey can we Use Sam. Laporta it's, like,
(54:50):
well this little dude from The dominican who thinks he's
Fucking ronnie lot over here takes out his knee and
all of a, Sudden Sam laporta's like there because of
the dude From spain wanted to get on the NFL's.
Radar no, THANKS i know you're more of AN nfl,
(55:24):
analyst less. Fan now as a, fan you, Know i'm
kind of a. HYBRID i would Say i've just lost
my true true emotional ups and, downs WHICH i still
get from. GAMBLING i don't quite get LIKE i still
LIKE i follow the forty Nine ers really, closely but
it's just it's not quite the. Same And i'm jealous
(55:44):
of some of you that like still have That like
What sometimes WHEN i hear Like Bill, simmons like how
does he how does he still have that deep in his,
Soul I'm i'm kind of. JEALOUS i WISH i did
LIKE i. WOULD i would sign up for a big
story that would benefit. Us here on the podcas asked
over something forty Nine ers every day of the week
and twice On. Sundays but as a, fan would you
(56:07):
prefer to root for a team that is always competitive
and in the, mix but has no True Super bowl
chance like The? Steelers or a team who has big
ups and downs over the, years but takes huge swings
and is a true contender during the up. Stretches Think, Rams,
eagles et. Cetera as A steeler, fan being in the
endless cycle of a good but not good enough has
(56:29):
become sickening AND i just want the tanking season where
they finally get a top. Pick, well using your, examples
WOULD i rather be a fan of The rams and
The eagles? Recently, yes than The? Steelers but IF i
was a sixty year old guy being a fan of
The steelers over the course of my life has been pretty.
INCREDIBLE i think if we just use non, teams, like
(56:49):
would you rather win A Super bowl one year and
then miss the playoffs for the next five or would
you rather Be Mike tomlin and The steelers and for
the next six, years know the year gonna win nine
or ten? Games for as great as it, sounds win
That Super bowl is incredible watching a team win three
or four, games because part of it is, Like, okay you.
(57:11):
Suck there is no guarantee that you get out of.
That google how many times like The jags have? DRAFTED
I google how many times like The Arizona cardinals have? Drafted,
REALLY i when you're a bad. Team The giants have
been bad now for like fifteen. Years The jets haven't
made the playoffs since twenty. Ten It's may twenty twenty.
(57:35):
Five SO i hear. You and if if you, could
what you would sign up? For CAN i tank and
just get LIKE i don't, KNOW i don't even Need Patrick,
mahomes but just a guy that's gonna be good and
be my franchise? Quarterback you would sign up for? That
every every day of the. Week, right it's also easy
(57:56):
to be like and. Listen i'm a huge believer in.
This you learn a lot in life when you. Fail
And i've Been i've been fired. TWICE i got fired
twice by the TIME i was like thirty one years.
Old so when that happens to, you it's very, jarring
but it forces you in like a fight or flight.
Mode And i've known, people not, me like my, peers
(58:20):
but like my parents, peers guys that have gone. Bankrupt
and you hear some of these. Stories you see it On,
instagram LIKE i went bankrupt AND i battled back and
Now i'm worth a five hundred million. DOLLARS i knew
a couple of, people again not, personally but like through
my parents that WENT bka in the nineties and their
life never turned. Around AND i hear stories sometimes either
(58:45):
through like mutual friends or my brother's kind of still
in that world of like guys still talking about their
heyday of like nineteen ninety. Six it's, like, bro you
lost everything in nineteen ninety. Eight this is a long.
Time what have you been? Doing so it's it's easy
to go, like let's just, suck let's blow this bitch.
Up there is no guarantee that you flip that thing.
(59:06):
Around So i'm all For i'm not saying you're, spoiled
because you're. Not AND i get the. Frustration to. Me the,
MOVE i think the move is not like trying to
tank because your your organization's not gonna do. That it
is not gonna do, that WHICH i. Respect the move is,
this AND i respect. This i'm not A tomlin. Hater
(59:28):
guy's a fucking. STUT i do think a breakup can be.
Healthy like some breakups and some divorces are really really, ugly,
right some worst case, scenario you're Like cassie And, diddy
like what the hell is going on? There, Right but
there's a lot of them, like, yeah we just kind
of fell out of. Love and she's a great. Person he's,
(59:49):
awesome he's a great she's an awesome mother for my,
children he's great supporting my. Kids we just we just
it was. Time and The Eagles namdy a great. Example
andy got to, leave The, chiefs got a new, coach
The eagles got to experiment and have won a couple
Of Super bowls. Since And andy's gone on to become a.
(01:00:11):
Legend like you could The tomlin. Thing, now worst case
scenario is like this with The saints And Sean. Payton
BUT i think that's how the change. Happens last year
was the opportunity blow the bitch, up Send tom on packing.
Again WHEN i say, packing he'd have his ten teams
(01:00:31):
will try to hire. Him he'd get a job immediately
and go Hire Ben, johnson like that's your big. Swing
but they won't do. That AND i Understand Mike, tomlin
LIKE i DON'T i love being the coach of The.
STEELERS i would too IF i was. Him Andy reid
liked being the coach of The. Eagles that to me
is the. Move i've been an avid listener since the
(01:00:51):
summer of twenty. Three do you think the new kickoff will?
Stick it seems, Overwhelming it seems overly, complicated and did
not seem to impact the games last season as much
as it was hyped to. Do, also name idea for
people TO dm you who care enough to stick around
instead Of? Kafia what about fourth? Downers your show is
(01:01:13):
three and, out but the ones who stick around for fourth? Down?
Anyways you know what's funny IS i get a lot
of feedback that people like the, uh mailbags, sometimes especially
in the off season when we're just like kind of
pick topics that not much is going. On, this you,
know this pays the bills, here we got a grind right?
(01:01:33):
Now is this type of? STUFF i get a lot
of feedback that people like. It WHEN i get asked questions,
NONSPORTS i do THINK i don't have the data in
front of, me BUT i remember a headline From. GOODELL
i think they like the kickoff a. LOT i agree
it didn't give as many like, touchdowns but it did
create a lot more returns where it had just. Ended
(01:01:56):
it's kind of like moving the pat back when you
have the pat from like the two yard line or
five yard line or wherever the hell it. WAS i
guess it was snapped at the, two so it kicked
at the, seven so it was a seven ten like
seventeen eighteen yard. Kick it was like ninety nine point
nine percent of the. Time And belichick used to rail against, this,
like what's the this? Is why don't we just give
(01:02:17):
them just give a free point if you want it
or go for, Two and then they moved it back
and it's become like ninety. Percent SO i think they're
just they just want a little. VARIETY i don't think
it's going, anywhere no chance THAT i think they pivot off.
That you mentioned how concert and stadium revenue go directly
contributes to paying players and. Coaches, well it depends you
(01:02:40):
got TO i, mean if you own your. Stadium you,
know some people don't own their. Stadium some people are
in business agreements with the, city with the. Municipality so
every franchise is. Different who owns like The, RAIDERS i
don't know what they're set up is With. Vegas but
like every dollar that comes, in not every team owns
one hundred percent of that. Dollar SOME i, know fifty
(01:03:00):
percent of that. Dollar some might know thirty cents on that.
Dollar some of mine own seventy percent on the. Dollar
so it's not every team is the same that. WAY i,
mean like the forty nine, ERS i Know Santa, clara
they split. Revenue could you go into how wealthier owners
are able to pay players more even though there is
a salary. Cap i've heard the bonus years of kicking
(01:03:23):
the can down the, road but it never fully makes
sense to. Me so let's SAY i Have i'm a
team AND i only have ten million dollars a salary. Cap,
WELL i can get a guy that another team could, go,
hey we'll give you five, years one hundred million. Dollars and,
obviously over that course of that five year, DEAL i
(01:03:45):
can set up the salary cap hits at twenty million a.
YEAR i can set it up where it starts really
low and gets really. High BUT i can go as
an owner with a lot of cash and, go, listen
THE teamx want you for five, years one hundred million.
Dollars they're going to give you a signing bonus of
twenty five million. Dollars that means over the course of
(01:04:05):
the FIRST i think once you sign, it it's either
fourteen days or twenty one, days that signing bonus will
be in your. Account, WELL i will give you sixty
million dollars signing. Bonus so of the one hundred million dollar,
CONTRACT i will pay you sixty million dollars up. FRONT
i mean that'd be, aggressive but SO i have the
(01:04:26):
cash to take advantage of the, salary and THEN i
can do these void years and make that five year
contract eight years and spread that sixty million dollars THAT
i give them in a signing bonus over the course
of the. Contract so a lot of. TEAMS i, mean
this is The, Bengals, like look how much signing bonuses
(01:04:48):
they Gave Jamar chase AND T higgins SPECIFICALLY t higgins
number wasn't that. High but their owner's not giving out
that much cash. Historically the raceas you, know even once
they moved To, vegas Like Mark davison doesn't have the
cash that some of these other owners. Have Jeffrey, lewiy you,
know has spent a lot of Cat Jimmy haslam has
(01:05:10):
spent more actual. Cash so, like just BECAUSE i have
all these contracts on the, books how much cash AM
i actually paying people? Out Because i'm paying more cash
than the actual salary. Cap Potentially Jimmy haslam's blown by.
THAT i Think Jeffrey. Lury last year was The, browns The,
eagles and The niners in some. ORDER i know The
(01:05:32):
browns were. Won the cash that they spent on their
team far exceeded the salary cap because of signing. Bonuses
and it's how it's how you can manipulate the. System
where in, basketball it's LIKE i Give Steph curry five,
years three hundred million, DOLLARS i just pay him if
the first year of the contracts forty million. DOLLARS i
(01:05:52):
just pay him forty million. Dollars he doesn't get a signing. Bonus,
now it's all, guaranteed, Right Juan soto gets ten, years
seven hundred, million or whatever the funck that number, is which,
Again god he loafs a. Lot that'll do, it. Hopefully
that was a little cliff note version of. Explanation have
a great, day have a Good Memorial. DAY i Think
(01:06:12):
i'm just Gonna i'm gonna go off the grid for
a couple of days and just just relax SO i
will see everyone soon and take it easy and enjoy
a few cocktails on.
