Yo, how you doing. What's up?

Speaker 4 (00:30):
Buddy?

Speaker 5 (00:31):
Oh Man, you're shot out of the cannon. Hine, I'm trying.
Oh he's hyped. That's Rich Davis. I'm Steve Cavino's Cavino
and Rich. Day two in for Colin on the Herds.
Have a good day. We have lots to get to.
We gotta talk Lebron, Dad.

Speaker 3 (00:47):
No, not Dad, Bron. Don't call me Dad. Don't call
me Dad.

Speaker 5 (00:51):
We gotta talk bobbleheads today. We have a feature we
do every Wednesday, every Midweek. That's what the kiddies say,
Rich mid Week or major the biggest stories in the
world of sports and pop culture.

Speaker 3 (01:07):
We let you decide. We go over them.

Speaker 5 (01:08):
Are they Midweek or major? And should you be offended?
Should you be offended? Let's say there's a big game
in your city and people are coming to visit that
city and they don't stay with you, They don't stop
and say hi, Are you offended? When your buddies are
passing through and they don't acknowledge you. There's so much

(01:29):
to get to. But before we get into Jerry Jones,
Rich I was gonna say, we're also going to talk
about drinking on the job. Oh no, see, now you're
over promising. And we're going to talk about Trent Williams
and we're going to talk about Dak Prescott.

Speaker 3 (01:41):
Now we're going to try to get a lot in today.

Speaker 5 (01:43):
Well, we'll do our best, okay, because we're having fun
here on the herd. We're filling in for a good
These are big shoes to fill. What type of shoes
does Colin whar are you thinking? Oh man, offensive like
prodest sneakers of those new Snoop sketchers. Probably because they're
those Snoop ones, they're cool and comfy. Yeah I don't know.
He's wearing a six Yeah yeah, definitely a comfy track

(02:04):
shoe for sure. So big shoes to fill, but always
fun to be here. Thank you guys so much. If
you want to call and get involved this eight seven
seven for the Herd eight seven seven four eight four
three four three seven eight seven seven for the Herd
again at Covino and rich if you want to see
our punchable faces, and especially Riches.

Speaker 3 (02:22):
And I got to start.

Speaker 5 (02:23):
Off by saying, do we all have the same I'm
putting it out there. Okay, I could be by myself,
but do we all have the same sort of thing?

Speaker 3 (02:31):
He's about to wives, He's about to be vulnerable.

Speaker 5 (02:33):
Yes, our wives and girlfriends say things to you like
when you wake up in the morning, make sure you
put this on your face. First, put this on, and
then use this cream when you go to bed, but
use it because it's gonna expire, since I want you
to use it. Does everybody sort of deal with that
sort of thing? And are you like the reluctant guy
who's like, man, don't do that sort of thing. I

(02:54):
I'll back you up because I care about that stuff.
So if my wife's like, Babe, use this skincare stuff,
it's good, dude, I'm getting older. I don't want to
look old. But there I guarantee there's lots of guys
listening to the herd right now. Then, I've probably never
use moisturizer. But my dad, my dad is one of
those anti My brother in law, he's one of those anti.
Like I don't use lotion on my face because I'm

(03:15):
a man. My dad washed his face with that gritty
sandpaper soap. Do you know what people use that body shop?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (03:23):
Yeah, my dad used that to wash his face because
he's a real man. So anyway, last night, right, my
girlfriend's like, same exact conversation. You see that over there,
that's the vitamin C. You're supposed to see the serum.
I'm like, yeah, yeah, make sure you use that. You
gotta use that in the morning, okay, because I don't
want it to go bad, and I want you to

(03:43):
use that.

Speaker 3 (03:44):
And I'm like all right, fine.

Speaker 5 (03:46):
And then there's a part of me too that's like,
well if I don't use it, she's gonna notice it
makes serious?

Speaker 3 (03:49):
I be serious. Is that the faint citrus smell in
the studio right now?

Speaker 5 (03:53):
Dude?

Speaker 3 (03:54):
And here's the thing, I smell burnt rubber. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (03:56):
What she failed to tell me is that when you
put it on, it's so much like chemicals and like this,
oh dude, it's burning my eyes.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
Right now as we speak.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
So if you guys smell burnt rubber or burning skin,
or if my skin starts to melt like the dude
from Raiders of the Lost Arc, just know it's because
I put this stuff on my face and it smells
so bad it's going up my nose the whole time,
sort of ruining my whole vige.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
Yeah, but it took five years off. You look like
you're in your thirties. Look at me, I'm glowing.

Speaker 5 (04:28):
My eyes are burning and watery, but yeah, I'm glowing now.
But I think a lot of guys can relate to
what you said.

Speaker 3 (04:34):
Wifey.

Speaker 5 (04:34):
Your girlfriend will say, Kadys loves it, and you're just sure,
let me do it. I'm here to say like today
was an exception. Yeah, and I'm paying the price. But
for the most part, I don't think dude should be reluctant.
Are you in a rush to look like a catchersmith?

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Are you in a.

Speaker 5 (04:49):
Rush to look like the old Marlborough man? Are you
in a rush to look like an old guy? I say,
you follow their lead. They know a little something about
this stuff, but she failed to tell me how much
is smelled, so it smells like it smells like, you know,
like a beauty slot or something, you know, like that
chemical Like what is that? Oh, that's my face And
people can smell it from there where they are. Now

(05:10):
that's how bad. Yeah, probably you probably smell it to
your speakers. Now this is only jumped by one other
story I could think of trumped and let me wrap
it up by telling this story real quick. Yep, my
sister pulled one of these on my brother in law.
My sister is like, Chris, I got you a new
hair product that's under the sink.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
Okay.

Speaker 5 (05:32):
Now, my brother in law, Chris is a total bobo, right,
and he'll do whatever you tell him to do. He's
sort of laid back, just goes with the flow kind
of guy. He's like, all right, I'll use whatever you
told me to do. And he came to my house
one day He's like, I don't know what's going on. Man,
I'm like burning up or something. I feel real weird.

(05:54):
And dude, I'm looking at the guy and his head
is as red as could be, like a tomato head.
I'm like, what is going on you?

Speaker 3 (06:01):
Manu?

Speaker 5 (06:01):
Okay, I'll use the new hair product. He's just telling
me about the new hair product he used. He used
like ben gay or icy hot on his hair and
his head was on fire the whole time.

Speaker 3 (06:12):
Dude.

Speaker 5 (06:12):
I'm like, dude, he grabbed the wrong bottle or something
or I don't know what he did, but he used
some sort of muscle cream on his head and it
was burning the whole time. And the dude had to
go to a concert like that. I'm like, what an idiot?
So anyway, be careful when he uses stuff. Maybe do
a little sample first. That was my morning, How is yours? Well,
I'll tell you what. I'll tie it into our lead today.

(06:35):
You know who doesn't listen to their wife or girlfriend?
Woh Jerry Jones? Because he don't listen to nobody. Does
he have to Jerry Jones? That one of the perks
of being that old and successful. Listen Jerry Jones. Jerry
Jones is, let's be honest, a great business man. The
value of the Dallas Cowboys is upwards of ten billion dollars.

(06:59):
He's done at all, but he has had more head
coaches than playoff wins since the nineties. Hell, he hasn't
done anything with that team in the playoffs since the nineties.
What were you doing in nineteen ninety six? Me picking
your nose in college, drinking cheap beer. O man, I
was the man in ninety six. Of course, Yankees won

(07:19):
the World Series. I was at the parade. I was
doing all.

Speaker 3 (07:22):
Well, it's fun think about that mindset.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
That's the last time Jerry Jones got to the Promised
Land with the Cowboys. So it's funny when he comes
out because he's all the speculation Danny all the time, right, Like,
should Jerry Jones hire a GM?

Speaker 3 (07:36):
The consensus is what? Of course? And this has been
going on for years and years.

Speaker 5 (07:42):
Yeah, but once you passed like one hundred years old,
isn't it written somewhere that you could do whatever you want?
Isn't that one of the perks of making it this far?
A little something that you do. I'm not saying Jerry
Jones knows a lot, but listen to this quote. This
is via an interview he did a one on one

(08:03):
with Cowboys reporter Clarence Hill Junior. Okay, I've done it all.
Should I do a little Southern accent? I thought that
was an actual SoundBite.

Speaker 3 (08:14):
I've done it all.

Speaker 5 (08:16):
I have an ordinate amount of confidence. So if if
anyone could figure out how to get this s done.
I can figure it out and how it gets done, Okay,
And then he goes on to say, I've been there
every which way from Sunday. I busted my ass a
bunch of bunch and there's nobody living that's out cutting

(08:36):
and shooting. They can't give a bunch of times they
busted their ass. I don't even know what that means,
like a weasel on I've done it all. So he's
saying there's no one and it ends with him saying,
and there's no one that could be a better GM
than me.

Speaker 3 (08:51):
Wow.

Speaker 5 (08:52):
And by the way, Ryan, big Sexy, you don't have
to bleep me out when I say like a weasel
on a woodpecker. One time I got like bleeped out
and like we didn't know what that meant. But it
was the National Geographic Photo of the year. It was
it was a weasel on top of a woodpecker. If
you don't believe them, look it up, look it up,
Google it. But it sounded like something like Jerry Jones
When we were on ESPN. They I mean, this is
a true story.

Speaker 6 (09:12):
I can tell you alas alone, a woodpecker I've seen it,
I've done it. Have you not said that they dumped?
They they hit the dump button? Woecker an amazing photo though,
look it up. Its weasel is riding on the back
of a woodpecker. But I don't want to get you
off track. I think the proof is in the numbers.

(09:34):
More head coaches than playoff wins, all that stuff. We
know what the cowboys have been up to. But I
do think you need to give like old people their respect.
He is the Cowboys. He does know a little something.

Speaker 5 (09:47):
I'm not saying he could do it better than a GM,
but there is something to be said about the wisdom
an older person has. Really, that's all you have when
you're that old. You've been there, done that, You've seen
it much. Aren't there things you just have someone else do?

Speaker 2 (10:01):
Yes?

Speaker 3 (10:02):
You think about your own life? All right?

Speaker 5 (10:05):
Ryan music, handsome fellow, I mean so well dressed. Both
two we end music. Both look at you?

Speaker 3 (10:11):
You know? Can I tell you look at your guys?

Speaker 4 (10:13):
What do you think?

Speaker 5 (10:13):
You know? Why I wore jeans and put on some
Jordan's today and a nice shirt because you guys, the
herd dresses nice. They set the tone dress success. Yeah, yeah, Ryan,
you were saying that you at one point tried to
mount your own TV.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
Oh, you know what, that's just a terrible, terrible idea.
Tell us about it that listen, it all worked out.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
So we'll go.

Speaker 4 (10:33):
We'll start at the end and let you know that
the TV is still on the wall, The wall is intact.
We're all good there. But if you're mounting your own TV,
you'd be like, hey, you know, maybe this takes like
two hours three if you're really doing your due diligence.

Speaker 5 (10:48):
Yeah, it took like three days. Okay, So we got
to preface it too. Like we understand there are certain
guys out there. We take a lot of pride in
doing it themselves and they're good at this stuff. But
if you're not good at this stuff, you have to
ask yourself, is my time worth that? Wouldn't it be
easier to just have someone do it, just to save
me the frustration and the time?

Speaker 3 (11:07):
One hundred percent. My brother in law helped me do it.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
And we had just moved into this house, my wife
and I and you know, you're so excited.

Speaker 3 (11:16):
You're like, oh, a new house, this is great, so cool.

Speaker 2 (11:18):
I'll do it.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
I'll do it.

Speaker 2 (11:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (11:19):
Yeah.

Speaker 4 (11:20):
You start putting holes in the wall, and then all
of a sudden you're like, man, this took a lot
longer than I thought. Now it's nine o'clock at night.
You're like, we can't be drilling holes in the water.
Nine o'clock at night. Carries over into the next day.
You forgot where you left off. You're like, oh, we
got to remeasure did you write down the measurements? Oh,
we got to remeasure it again. You're not confident about it.
Oh no, he's thinking to fall off.

Speaker 5 (11:42):
And then you put this faith in a professional rich
where they put it up and you're like, h looks good.
If you do it, I bet you question everything and
is it straight? You probably dwelled on it absolutely, Yeah,
didn't know if it was straight. We keep like backing off,
going back. We're like, no, it's crooked. It's crooked.

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Like you take it off, you do it again, You're like, no,
now it's crooked.

Speaker 3 (12:04):
The first way was the right way.

Speaker 4 (12:05):
And then yeah, for like two weeks after that, I
kept thinking, as soon as I got home, I'm gonna
open the door and the TV is gonna be on
the ground.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
Yeah, yeah, now from now on, from then on. I
was like, I'm never doing anything like that. You gotta
call Johnny Lawrence. He has a company out of here,
you know of Cobra Kai Johnny Lawrence. Didn't he break
a pipe in the wall? Yes, in one of the
episode of the episodes, Yeah, but he mounted TVs and
that is I can imagine people rolling their eyes there
because there's a lot of people where they could do

(12:32):
that easily.

Speaker 3 (12:32):
But I'm with you one hundred percent. You go to
my house.

Speaker 5 (12:35):
I have a space right there ready for the TV
to be mounted. It just hasn't been done yet because
I'm not doing it. I'm not doing it. I don't
need the hassle or the hoff It's a message to
Jerry Jones. Jerry, we know what you've done. You're a billionaire,
you own the Cowboys, get a GM. Don't be that
sure of yourself. I have a question. You're a great businessman.

(12:58):
I need are you great at this?

Speaker 3 (13:00):
I don't know? I need to Uh is it are
you too old? Is it past you? I don't know.
My wife wants to put what.

Speaker 5 (13:05):
Are they called pendants over the kitchen islands, you know,
like the little hanging lights over kitchen island. I called
an electrician. Do you think I want to attempt to
start doing electric work in my house?

Speaker 3 (13:15):
Yeah? Just YouTube bit, that's say.

Speaker 5 (13:18):
I'm right here saying that though, because there's probably millions
of people listening right now, just to hear the aliens
who are rolling their eyes and saying, come on, yeah,
some of us are handy.

Speaker 3 (13:28):
I delivered my own son. I'm not paying.

Speaker 5 (13:33):
You gotta pay professional. I mean, even something as simple
as you could be like this is absurd. I think
it's worth the hundred bucks a month for a pool
guy out here in California.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
It's not like a ball and a lot of people
have pools. Well that's the thing.

Speaker 5 (13:47):
Now, are you just being lazy there or do you
really need a professional? But you work hard so you
could pay people so you can relax and enjoy your
family and your time.

Speaker 7 (13:55):
I get it.

Speaker 5 (13:55):
All I'm thinking is I'm not That's not something I know.
So guess what I do. No, I could skim the pool.
But to give someone one hundred bucks a month to
they come by every week to make sure the levels
and the chlorine and everything's right, that to me is
worth it. For you, it's worth it. A question when
everybody has there Is it worth it for you? It's
not a it's not a day of our shelf. I

(14:16):
don't bring up your divorce or ex wife. Sure, yeah ahead,
we're only on national radio, only millions listening. It's okay,
did you spend a lot of money on a divorce
attorney or did you say no, I'm gonna represent myself.

Speaker 3 (14:28):
I thought about it because I was broke. Yeah, I
thought about it.

Speaker 5 (14:32):
I'm like, I think I could do it, but no,
not only hold on to answer your question since you
brought it up every day of my life since then. Okay,
not only did I have to pay for lawyer, you,
as the guy who makes the more money or woman
who makes more money, you have to pay for the
other person too.

Speaker 3 (14:51):
So I had to pay for my lawyer and her lawyer.

Speaker 5 (14:53):
I'm like, what if that guy that was a nightmare
nightmare for so mounting a TV, hiring an electrician, presenting
yourself in court?

Speaker 3 (15:01):
What do you think being your own GM?

Speaker 5 (15:03):
Why do you think athletes, you know, sometimes get pushback
when they're like, I don't need an agent, I'm gonna
represent myself. That's never That's usually not a good idea, now,
Lamar Jackson, Richard Truman. There have been people that successfully
have done it, but in our world even like there's
small potatoes compared to a Colin or Dan Patrick. But
we have an agent that represents us and does our
contract because there are things you can't do.

Speaker 3 (15:25):
You get someone to do.

Speaker 5 (15:27):
An unprofessional look to be talking numbers with your employers.
They're never a good thing, especially in this business. I'm
sure yours as well. But Jerry Jones, it comes down
to this, can you do it yourself? Should you do
it yourself? Things you shouldn't do yourself. My sister and
I told this story recently on our Patreon. Yes, we

(15:49):
have one. Check it out if you'd like. We appreciate
that if you like our show. My sister hit us
up on our little family chat and she's like, I
don't know what to do. This is a this is
a great example of get someone to do it. I
know this story. This is you know, should you hire
a professional or do it yourself? Jerry Jonestyle, She's like,

(16:09):
there's like a major active beehive in front of my
house and the neighbors are complaining. And she showed a
video right and it looked like she went back in
time because there was some sort of prehistoric beehive that
I'd never seen before, like something out of a cartoon.
Like usually you see those little cones or those little
you know, those little things in the corner. You're like,
what is that hornet's nest? What is that thing right there?

(16:31):
And you can remove it. This was a full on, giant,
prehistoric high It looked bigger than the biggest watermelon at
a cookout.

Speaker 6 (16:40):
And she's like it was like and my dad was like, yeah, yeah,
I tell you what I would do.

Speaker 3 (16:44):
I would just you know, spray it and hit it
with a broom and yeah, tell you a.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
Husband to do it. I'm like, tell her husband to
do it. This guy's gonna have bit by these things.
They're probably deadly, but we end up dying. Just hire somebody.
It wasn't even a beast. It was like a hornet
horn it, dude, I'm gonna show you, Ryan, I'm to
show you because I'm not exaggerating. It was full on,
like giant, like cartoon like hive and it could all
come out and make an arrow like in a cartoon.

Speaker 3 (17:10):
Yeah, and go up to the guy. Yeah.

Speaker 5 (17:12):
And she's like, it'll probably cost me like two hundred
dollars to get it removed. I'm like, two hundred dollars
well spent. You're gonna have your husband going up there
with a ladder or whatever and a broom in a
broom the neighborhood. They're gonna attack, like what are you doing?
What's the cost of a hospital bill when he falls
off the ladder? Because not only yeah seriously, so like, yeah,

(17:34):
two hundred bucks, and nobody, nobody wants to waste or
spend two hundred bucks that they don't have to spend.
But some things are just better left to a professional.
You could relax, have the comfort of knowing that it's
being done right. And Jerry Jones here could probably benefit
if he hires a GM. That's not the discredit what
he knows. He does know a lot, So I give

(17:59):
him that, But I here's somebody else because the proof
is in the numbers.

Speaker 3 (18:02):
I played Devil's Advocate. Only if you're Keanu Reeves.

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Okay, now, why when's the last time you said that movie?

Speaker 3 (18:11):
Why would Jerry Jones.

Speaker 5 (18:14):
Need a GM when it does seem like he does
make good moves, he's putting great personnel, he's signing the
right players.

Speaker 3 (18:22):
No one's ever good enough business.

Speaker 5 (18:23):
No one's ever said this team is failing because Jerry
Jones is losing a free agency, Jerry Jones is drafting poorly,
this team is constructed well, and as Mike McCarthy said earlier,
I don't know when the hell it became easy to
win twelve games every year. They just can't get to
the next level. Is that on Jerry Jones or is
that on the head coach and the personnel just not

(18:44):
delivering in the clutch. Jerry Jones, you could argue, from
a GM owner standpoint, has not a pretty great job, right.
The problem is in what we know about the NFL
in general, is a GM. If Jerry was the GN
but had an owner, he would be out of a

(19:06):
job by now, because an owner would not keep a
GM for going on two and a half decades now,
that's true without advancing past the divisional round of the play.

Speaker 3 (19:16):
That's a great point.

Speaker 5 (19:17):
So yeah, he should fire himself as GM and hire
someone if he's going to be a diligent owner. In
that case, he has to fire himself from this position
and hire someone else just to give him a shot
to shake it up.

Speaker 3 (19:29):
As our buddy for ill used to say, you gotta
shake it. Oh you know so?

Speaker 5 (19:32):
The question again heard Nation Fox Sports Radio Nation. Things
you shouldn't do yourself, you know, like deliver a baby,
like electric work. There's no way that Rich should be
doing that. I know Rich's skill set again, removing a beehive.

Speaker 3 (19:48):
Tell us your.

Speaker 5 (19:48):
Story, your nightmare, or maybe the story we're paid off
where you were gonna pay somebody and you're glad you
didn't let us know?

Speaker 3 (19:55):
Again, do you like to do it yourself?

Speaker 5 (19:57):
Eight seven seven four three fourths three seven eighty seven
seven for the herd, Some people have no choice but
to do with them. I will say, if you want
to get people fired up, We've been doing this a
long time, believe it or not. And what gets people
more mad than anything? You're gonna bring up cars? Aren't
let me tell you I.

Speaker 3 (20:15):
Know it when there are hot buns.

Speaker 5 (20:18):
I'm sure Colin has certain conversations he could have where
listeners and people go nuts, maybe backwards hats or you know,
some fun day Colin has right anytime I talk about,
oh I bring my car and to get the oil change,
I don't do that myself.

Speaker 3 (20:33):
The feedback we get like, what do you mean, you know,
change rowing oil?

Speaker 8 (20:36):
Wan, I'm like, why you're not a man's mane?

Speaker 5 (20:40):
You don't know the backlash we get. And I always
have to defend Rich here too, and believe me, I
don't want it. But when we agree, it's fact. We're
guys from the East Coast. I'm from New Jersey, Riches
from Long Island, so very much city boys in some ways. Right,
should we grow up with this this skill set where
you do yourself and you're under the car, you're ringing

(21:02):
it up and you're changing this and fixing that, and
I'm pinkering on the weekend?

Speaker 3 (21:06):
Who like a weeeze alone a record?

Speaker 6 (21:09):
Yeah?

Speaker 5 (21:09):
No, Like that's not what we grew up doing, right.
I go up playing whiffle ball in baseball and like
a lot of you did. But I'm saying we didn't
grow up with that skill level. My dad was like,
get out of my weight. It was one of those things, Dad,
can I help, Nah, you're in my way. So he
never taught us. Jack Didley squat, same with Rich's dad. Now,
so we don't change our own oil, leave it to

(21:31):
the professional, right Jerry Jones style your feedback next right
here on Fox Sports radio, and we are going to
get to Otani and bobbleheads, another conversation that gets people
fired up. Some people bobbleheads, other people like, what are
you a child? So we'll talk about Otani Bubblehead Night,
which is tonight. There's a lot of people excited about
that out here in LA. We'll talk about Lebron James,

(21:52):
some more NFL drinking on the job. Like I said,
so much, he gets you're over promising body here on
the Herd, Covino and Rich.

Speaker 2 (21:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
at noon eastern nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 5 (22:06):
I saw the Vegas odds for the top five AFC
teams to represent represent Zen in the Super Bowl.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Okay, do you agree with this top five? I'll read it.

Speaker 5 (22:18):
I'll read it to re Can you do it in
countdown form like Spider Harrison. I'll do my best, Rick Dy,
Spider Harrison and Casey Casem Kimbang. If you're gonna do
a top five countdown, you gotta do it like a
pop radio superstar.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Spider Harrison, Casey Casem.

Speaker 5 (22:32):
In case you don't know, by the way, Rich Davis
is the guy on Pop two, k on SXM, and
I am the guy on Turbo and all that other stuff.
We combine and joined forces to do this show. Pretty
sweet side hustles. Yeah, alright, So I'll give you the
top five AFC teams coming in at number five, Los

(22:53):
Vegas number five, the Jets at plus a fifty. Okay,
number four, they're Houston Texans coming in at number four
plus eight hundred, Cincinnati Bengals plus seven to fifty Bengals

(23:14):
with a bullet. As we move up the countdown, the
Baltimore Ravens at plus five fifty.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
And we made it to the top. Of course, the
Kansas City Chiefs at plus three fifty.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
Is there a team outside the top five that you're like, hell,
they've forgotten them. So you got Kansas City, Baltimore, Bengals, Texans, Jets.
Is there a little disrespect on the name of the
Buffalo Bill. I'm just amazed that little on everybody's sort
of list because there's so many question marks there. You're
really banking on Aaron Rodgers to be the man, and

(23:53):
I understand, you know they've been picked to win it all.
Keep the mind kiving no, they had Aaron Rodgers, you know,
last four plays. But didn't you say yesterday the Jets
are gonna jet the team around the Jets. They're not
jetting anymore around the Jets around Aaron Rodgers. Last year
was good. I think they made improvements and he is
actually going to play this year, knock on wood. So

(24:15):
I don't hate the Jets being in the top five.
In fact, where were your forty nine ers? Again? This
is THEFC, oh AFC, okay AFC top five forty nineers
would be number one in the NFC.

Speaker 3 (24:24):
I imagine Jets, Jets, Houston, Cincy, Baltimore, Kansas City.

Speaker 5 (24:32):
The only abbey is if you have faith in Buffalo
or Miami and you think that we're sleeping on Mike McDaniel.
But Danny g pointed out yesterday a lot of defensive
setbacks on the Dolphins. They lost a couple of key
players to free agency. And the Buffalo Bills, you wonder
if Josh Allen has enough weapons and if that team

(24:55):
is you know, did they lose did they miss their
little window of opportunity?

Speaker 3 (24:59):
But at this point point, the Bills are more proven
than the Jets are, so you'd think the Bills would
be at five and the Jets would be at six.
Speaking of they do have the number one trash talker
in the league, Josh Allen. Yeah, so you're.

Speaker 8 (25:15):
Telling me I was voted as the number one best
trash talker coming in and number one trash talker, Josh Allen,
let's go, that's what Josh Allen tweeted that out a
couple hours ago.

Speaker 5 (25:26):
Yeah, we talked about that. You know what, I don't
hate the list, so we can move on to Lebron.
But I saw that come across the TV screen. I'm like,
you know what, Casey of course Baltimore. Of course, NFL
is uh high five, high fiving themselves from making that
your kickoff game. Your your two most favorite teams in
the AFC play a week from tomorrow. So congratulations NFL

(25:49):
for just you know, striking gold again.

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yeah, I'm not mad at this.

Speaker 5 (25:53):
So kissas City, Baltimore, Cincinnati with Joe Burrow. That's I mean,
these are those are your top three. We've talked about
those quarterbacks being three of the four current best. Right
then you got Houston, who was coming off a really
hot year with CJ. Stroud, And I've heard people argue
that they take a step back, and then I've heard

(26:13):
other people say that they're gonna win twelve plus games,
So what No one really knows. That's the funny part
about sports talk radio and TV. I mean, that's the
part that drives me crazy, like no one's got a
crystal ball. I mean, the funny part is when you
see the outtakes years later of you know, people's terrible
hot takes that are as cold as ice. Who knows

(26:34):
what the Texans are gonna do. If they went twelve
and five and CJ. Stroud lit it up, he'd be like, yeah,
I get it. If they went eight and nine and
took a step back and he threw, you know, got
a little exposed through more interceptions, you wouldn't be terribly
shocked either, because that division got better.

Speaker 8 (26:49):
The Texans had a great offseason, So I'm not sure
how they take a step back.

Speaker 3 (26:53):
CJ. Stroud would have to fall on his face.

Speaker 5 (26:55):
I know people are like, what if you know, the typical, Well,
what if they have what if people are studying the
tape him and they find the holes in his game
and expose him, you know, the typical.

Speaker 3 (27:03):
And nobody's talking about their defense, lamp that defense in
the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (27:07):
And you know how we were talking about the top
four quarterbacks in the league yesterday, Who's the number five?
Who's the number five? The top four are obvious, Who's
the number five? Got a lot of feedback of a
lot of people backing up Danny g with C. J.
Stroud too, like, dude, it's him, it's him, he's him,
and we'll see. And you know how I feel about
Demiko Ryans. I think he's a hell of a coach.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
I love him. I love him. I know I think
Demiko Ryans is great. So I think I think though
I think they got the top five right.

Speaker 5 (27:37):
I think Buffalo could say disrespect other than Buffalo's that's
sort of I think where we all stand. Or if
you're a Jacksonville fan, I don't know many of them,
but you could say no in a hold up. Now,
Trevor Lawrence signed that big contract. It's time for him
to prove why he was considered a generational guy that
just has, as you said, match statistically to I know

(27:59):
Colin does those blind comparisons. The fact that Garner Minshew
and Trevor Lawrence have the same stat line over the
last couple of seasons. That's got a change. If if
Trevor Lawrence wants to, you know, be the guy that
everyone thinks he could be. So yeah, Danny G does
that fire you up as a Raiders guy? That they're
not even in the mix here? Well, I mean that's
not expected. Yeah, but does that make you excited? Like, well, hey,

(28:21):
I hope they prove everybody wrong.

Speaker 6 (28:23):
No.

Speaker 8 (28:23):
At the big white meeting table in the blue kitchen
here at Fox Sports Radio, we were having our pre
show meeting, Yeah and two and music were not surprised
to see Nick Wright on the big screen picking the
Raiders last in the AFC West. And then it was
my friend Chris Broussard's turn to go, and he picked
the Raiders last in the AFI hard you know. And

(28:44):
I told those guys if bulletin boards were still a thing,
if I'm Antonio Pearis, I just put that up for
the team to see.

Speaker 5 (28:51):
Yeah, you know Tom Brady, Yeah, let's time motivate Tom Brady.
I love that he did admit that they would take
those things that they would hear on TV or radio
and make it bulletin board material.

Speaker 3 (29:04):
Yeah.

Speaker 8 (29:04):
I've never seen a bulletin board before I know, you know,
I will say something our Grandpap you had, Danny.

Speaker 5 (29:09):
It's hard to It's hard to argue though, with that division,
with everyone being so high on Jim Harball, and you
know what Trump, Payton and bow Nicks looks like that
they could put together in Denver.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
But you know, in the right direction.

Speaker 5 (29:22):
I'm intrigued about your Raiders because you're right, they do
have a good defense. They're fun to watch, you know,
Antonio Piercedy get that team fired Raiders this because there's
a lot of teams that stink and I'm not watching
them the Raiders. They're projected to not be that good,
but they're fun to watch them still, right Like, I
still watch the Raiders.

Speaker 3 (29:39):
I'm tuning in.

Speaker 8 (29:40):
They have they have a very talented squad. They lack depth,
so if any of the starters go down, that's where
they get into the weeds a little bit. But the
thing about the Chargers, people are basing their predictions on
Harbaugh not sure. Yeah, I'm not sure if he has
the right personnel yet, but he's gonna get there. And
one thing that was really interesting is the teams got
down fifty three yesterday. The Chargers kept seven wide receivers,

(30:04):
which made people kind of look twice because, as you
were saying on yesterday's show, Rich people expect him to
run the ball a lot, but the Chargers keeping seven
receivers kind of leans towards maybe they're gonna throw the
ball one.

Speaker 5 (30:17):
Those are your top five and the AFC Hey Twoy music.
Any any of you guys watch A Receiver on Netflix?
I thought it was fantastic. Did you watch just briefly
they start? I haven't finished it. DeVante Adams struck me
as so generally unhappy in Las Vegas, and there are
times where it was like, do you know towards the end?

(30:38):
Like I get with Antonio, it was a different story.
It was a different story with Pearce, and it was
the QB situation. Oh he did not, I know, he
was not vibe.

Speaker 7 (30:46):
He did not.

Speaker 3 (30:47):
He didn't showed.

Speaker 5 (30:48):
There's two ways look at it. Oh he's very unhappy
or he cared a lot so he didn't like Garoppolo.
You could tell he t And I don't even think
you liked Aidan O'Connell. You were like, no, they liked him.
I think he was just like yo. I went from
Aaron Rodgers to this.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Yeah, I.

Speaker 4 (31:05):
Danny knows. As he said, we were talking about it earlier.
The Raiders thing is tough. It's it does not look
like a great situation for success. And yeah, when you're
a guy like Davante Adams who's like done it all
and wants to continue to add to his resume, I'm
I know. He mostly moved to Las Vegas for personal reasons.

(31:28):
He wanted to be more towards like the West Coast.
Him and Derek Carr were boys. But as soon as
they got rid of Derek Carr, I think he was
left looking around going he how did I end up here?
It's like you move, you relocate. I mean, it's just
not football. Nobody wants to move back many time, nationally
or in life. Richie always like to bring relationships into this.
It's like going from a ten that you're happy with,

(31:49):
there's sixth that you're unsure.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
But I mean like it.

Speaker 5 (31:52):
I think everyone's been there personally, where you might move
to a city or move to a different town for
your job and then boss changes, you get let go
his budget cuts and you're like, all right, now now
I'm living in Cincinnati or cob Why am I here
like you, and I think Devanta Adams, even though Vegas
is cool, he's got a new kid, he's happy. I
think if Gardner Minshew doesn't get him the ball, and

(32:16):
he didn't even like how Jimmy Groppo was passing the
ball in like unsafe situations, I throwing the ball behind him,
exposing him to get hit hard. I think if Gardner
Minshew delivers, he'll be happy. Otherwise, I don't know how
it happens. But you've seen the rumors about he'll end
up with Aaron in New York. I don't know how
that happens. Maybe you get something.

Speaker 8 (32:32):
The rumors started because of comments Aaron Rodgers has said
and put out there.

Speaker 3 (32:36):
I can't wait to play again with him, right.

Speaker 8 (32:38):
And also, people watched the first few episodes of Receiver
took that and ran without finishing it, because if you
finish the Netflix series, you see, okay, he really loves
playing for Antonio Pearce, as do all the Raiders. And
he says, I was born to be a Raider. Look
at my school year pictures in elementary schools with the raider.

(32:58):
He was born to be a Ray. So if Minshew
can just be a serviceable quarterback. Hit the intermediate routes
and get out of the way. Let the receivers and
the tight ends do the work for you. Mediators will
be in the top six ten. Maybe nobody's gonna put
him there. But like you said, a few minutes all
these things happen. Yeah, use that as fire. Light a

(33:21):
fire under your team.

Speaker 3 (33:22):
Number six. If all these things happened, they might they
might be like number twelve.

Speaker 2 (33:26):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern not a em Pacific.

Speaker 3 (33:31):
Pally Fools, Gohea with Tony Foods Go Yeah.

Speaker 9 (33:34):
As everybody knows, we're the hosts of the award winning
Polly and Tony foodsco Show. But instead of us telling
you how great we are, here's how Dan Packrick described
us when he came on our show.

Speaker 3 (33:43):
Quick, knowledgeable and funny, opinionated. What are you doing interrupting
our promo?

Speaker 7 (33:49):
Yeah, it wasn't talking about you.

Speaker 2 (33:51):
You took those clips totally out of context.

Speaker 9 (33:54):
Oh yeah, well after this promo, I'm gonna take you
out and beat you.

Speaker 3 (33:58):
Let me put this into context.

Speaker 2 (34:00):
Shut up.

Speaker 9 (34:00):
Yeah, anyway, just listen to the Pauli and Toni Fusco
Show on Ieartradio, Apple Podcasts or wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 5 (34:07):
Yea, So we're talking Lebron. But before we do that,
let me tell you a quick little story that sort
of backs up what's going on here. I think, Yeah,
nobody wants to be feeling like the old guy. Nobody
wants to be like, oh, he's the old guy at
the club. It's the old old guy at the club.
No one wants to be, you know, that guy or

(34:29):
made to be feeling that way. And you know, I'm
very close in age with my uncle Joe. So it's
my mom's younger brother.

Speaker 7 (34:38):
Right.

Speaker 5 (34:38):
They're Mexicans, so there's a lot of kids involved. So
it's my mom's younger brother. He's significantly younger than my mom,
but he's my uncle. So we would go out on
the prow back in the day. We would get involved,
That's what he would say, get involved, yo, But keep
in mind involved tonight. That meant we were going out
to the bar, maybe meet a few ladies, have some fun.

(35:00):
You don't know, right, but keep him on the age difference.
You guess it's your mom's younger bro. Let's say he
was thirty something and you were in your twenties, exactly right,
So we could go out and have a good time,
but there was a rule in place, and he would
be that. He'd called me Bao Babe. That's just my
nickname in the family. Heyo, Babe because I hit home
runs like Babe Ruth.

Speaker 3 (35:19):
That's why. That's why.

Speaker 5 (35:20):
Yeah, that's fine, you know, I know, actually excited because
I hate hot dogs like Babe Ruth.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
So I was a hot dog king. He o, Babe.
When we go out, I'm your cousin. I'm not uncle, Joe,
I'm your cousin.

Speaker 2 (35:37):
Got that.

Speaker 5 (35:38):
Everyone in my group of friends, the girls we'd hang with,
they all thought he was my cousin because when we
went out, that was it.

Speaker 3 (35:46):
He's my cousin. Yeah, your cousin, Joe.

Speaker 5 (35:47):
I'm like, he's not really my cousin, my uncle, but right,
that's just how we rolled to not make him feel
like the old guy. So I understand where Lebron is
coming from. Lebron says to Brownie, Hey, when we're playing,
you call me two three.

Speaker 3 (36:03):
Here's what he said.

Speaker 7 (36:05):
Cannot call me dad in the workplace, all right. Once
we once we leave out of the private facility and
the gates closed. I could be Dad again in the car,
if we ride together at home, I could be Dad. No,
he gotta call me like two three or bron Okay,
you know, go if you want to, that's.

Speaker 2 (36:24):
Up to him.

Speaker 7 (36:24):
I mean.

Speaker 5 (36:26):
No, We've talked about this when Bronni got drafted by
the Lakers. It never dawned on me the amazing trash
talking that will take place anytime something happens to Bronnie, Like, Yo,
go tell you Daddy, there's gonna be so much great
trash talking. We look at it as a you know,
some people were like, nips, he doesn't belong. Other people

(36:47):
are saying, what a beautiful story, father son. We've yet
to talk about what amazing trash talk potential there is here.
There hasn't been a father son combo like this since
me and my dad when I would go to work
with him as a kid. My dad he ran a
vending route.

Speaker 7 (37:02):
Right.

Speaker 5 (37:03):
This is a true story, and I want your feedback
because we have a thought on this. Okay again eight
seven seven for the herd. My dad would bring me
to work on his vending route. He'd be taking me
all these factories and all these weird places where he
had soda machines, and I'd be there with my pumpkin
pie haircut, right, and I look very Hispanic. My dad's
an Italian guy. Okay, when you were a kid, you
looked like Tattoo from Fantasy Island.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Almost identical. So imagine Tattoo Deplane, Boss Deplane. That's me, right,
little white tuxedo on and everything.

Speaker 5 (37:31):
I'd be helping my dad carrying cases of soda to
whatever place he was filling up because he had the
vending route, and I would go to work with him,
and it was so embarrassing. No one ever really thought
he was my dad because he's a very Italian looking
guy and I was a very Hispanic looking kid, so
they always thought like I was his hired help, and oh,

(37:54):
you brought a little helper with you, and I'm like, no,
he's my dad.

Speaker 3 (37:59):
He's my.

Speaker 5 (38:01):
And they're like, oh, hey, you brought your little helper.
I was always the little helper and on the so
my point is on the flip side, Brani never wants
to be looked at like he's the little helper.

Speaker 3 (38:13):
Let me tell you.

Speaker 5 (38:14):
That was the weakest feeling ever. I'm like, no, I'm here,
because that's my dad. Yeah, and and there's no shame
in that. And I bring that up because Lebron didn't
have any problem with ever saying I got to give
two we the props here. He never had problems saying
I want to play with my son. We could have
endless soundbites of play with my son, Play with my son,

(38:35):
Play with my son, play with my son. But he
has a problem being called dad. So that's where there's
some hypocrisy there.

Speaker 8 (38:41):
You know, if Lebron has any sort of issue about
being the old guy Covino as your cousin or slash uncle.

Speaker 3 (38:49):
Cousin Joe, Yeah, no, there's no women around my uncle Joe.
It's okay.

Speaker 8 (38:53):
He should start with some color in that beard in
that in that right, because because he's letting that white
take over as we saw in the Olympics. And I
guess he wants to look like the mature us. The wisdom, Yeah,
I got a lot of it.

Speaker 3 (39:09):
I don't like that.

Speaker 5 (39:09):
Look, it's a young man's game. I get it's a
young man's game. So he doesn't want to be looked
at like dad, right, But I'm with you, get the
just for men dye that beard. The beard is weird,
no play for mister Gray.

Speaker 3 (39:20):
We know the deal. I agree with Danny g completely
on that.

Speaker 5 (39:23):
I'll tell you that Emtt Smith or Keith hernandez oh
both and again that that adds to the hypocrisy of
what he's saying. You know, does Bronnie want to be
called Bronnie? Then you know, stop referring to me as
your son. I'm Bronnie. Then can't go both ways. There's
gonna be a lot of great trash talking. I think
it's that that's that's the story we've we've neglected that.

(39:45):
Think about it. Think of all the veterans and people
that are gonna you know, bust chops. As far as
that goes, it says, you know, if they lose a
game or there's a you know, there's miscommunication on the court,
if he starts yelling at Bronnie, then he's like, Yo,
your daddy's.

Speaker 2 (39:56):
Yelling at you.

Speaker 5 (39:57):
Like there's gonna be because you've seen lebron barket teammate.
Is he going to be having that attitude towards his son. Yeah,
I understand. We can't play dumb and pretend like we
don't understand that he's trying to set the ground rules
of you know, when they're on the court, it's just business.
You know, they're they're just teammates at that point, so

(40:18):
there's no favoritism, there's no father son, they're just teammates
at that point. But again, the whole thing what makes
it a beautiful story is that it is father's son.
Do you refer to your parents ever by their first
names to other people? I've never called my parents. Oh,
that's a weird thing, mom and dad ever in my life.
So everyone's like, are you adopted? Like, no, that's my
mom and dad. Truth, it was the wrong person. You're

(40:41):
the one person on planet Earth that never called their parents.
But it goes with the story. The first time you're
called dad, not in the bedroom, Rich, I'm talking about it.
You know, when you're actually a daddy. Yeah, when you're
actually dad, it sort of hits you like, wow, i
am I'm a dad now. It makes you feel a
little older, Like I'm a dad now. My parents had

(41:01):
me when they were like twenty one, so mom and
dad to them just sounded like an old person thing
and they felt too young for that.

Speaker 3 (41:09):
And when you're a kid, no one ever told me
to call them that so what do I know. You
don't instinctively pop out and be liked. No one told
me that you're the one baby that never said mom
and dad never ever.

Speaker 5 (41:20):
Still to this day, I refer to them when I'm
talking to my siblings as mom and dad.

Speaker 3 (41:25):
WHOA.

Speaker 5 (41:26):
But I never called them mom and dad ever because
they were young when they had me. So if you
ask my mom, she'd be like, it's like we grew
up together. I'm like, well, Mom, slow down, you're in
your sixties, seventies. Maybe I don't even know, so, yeah,
I never did that. That's the truth to answer your question.
I know it sounds a little odd, Yeah, very odd.

(41:46):
But hey, lebron James, Bronnie James, this will be a
fun storyline that we didn't even think about.
