Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we Go, hour two and a Monday. Matt Hasselbeck
here in studio in about five minutes, live in Los Angeles.
It's the Herd wherever you may be and however you
may be listening. Thanks for making us part of your day.
I have terrible peripheral vision, apparently because he was right
next to me. I had no idea it was going
to stop by today. He was with wife seeing their kids,

(00:46):
and he gets still choping on sit in our studio today,
which is always fun for us when you get a
Brady breeze. Hassele Beck, guy's gotta sit in our studio
and j Mac. I don't know how good your weekend was,
but UH had a pretty good weekend.

Speaker 2 (01:02):
Oh really, flexing on the game undefeated.

Speaker 1 (01:05):
I have the Jets to night undefeated three and zero.

Speaker 2 (01:07):
Maybe you should do blazon four now instead of blazing five.

Speaker 1 (01:10):
It's a good idea. I don't want to short change America,
but I generally don't have five good picks. But you
know what, I should do that just because I already
know my bets. Minnesota off of bye against Detroit, off
a blowout win, Detroit will come back to earth. Minnesota
is so well coached. Rams off of bye New York

(01:31):
job like you guys can all bang on the Giants.
Cincinnati had to win that game. They didn't have elak neighbors.
I think I think that coach is excellent. They don't
have much to work with. I think he's really good.
All right, we do it every Monday. It's called right wrong.

Speaker 2 (01:44):
Let's go where Colin was right well, I said.

Speaker 1 (01:46):
This week with Detroit the Cowboys oil leak and regression
as a franchise would begin this weekend. I think their
rosters average. I think in a weapons league they have
one great weapon, CD Land. I think you can't have
an eighty two year old general manager. There's too many
jones Is in the building. They need outside influence. They're

(02:08):
too insular. They remind me a lot of the Lakers
with one or two great players, and that's it. This
is what I told you. I thought they'd finished third
in division as of this morning. That's where they're going
to finish. We were right on the Cowboys where Colin
was wrong. Was I wrong on Lincoln Riley five and
eight in his last thirteen games. They just don't have

(02:30):
enough top talent. Considering their NIL is fortified at about
thirteen million a year, they have a huge brand. I
like their wide receivers. I think their secondary is the
best it has been in years. But there's just no
there there. They don't feel terribly resilient. Situationally, They're okay.
They are very very young, but letting Penn States tight

(02:50):
end have seventeen catches is absolutely absurd.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
I was wrong where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
When the Ravens went ohen too, I said, don't worry
owner GM coach quarterback A plus at all of them.
They're fine, And here they come. Cleveland's a mess. The
Steelers are limited offensively, and Lamar Jackson would be my MVP.
I can't I cannot believe how good Lamar Jackson is,
the fact that everybody doesn't love him. I don't get
the kids. Incredible fourth straight win and fourth straight game.

(03:19):
His passer rating is one fourteen. I mean that is
a streak. They lead the NFL in rush offense. Yeah,
Derrick Henry's part of it, and so was Lamar. Where
Colin was raw boy, I thought Doug Peterson, I'd banged
on that for six months. I thought he was a
perfect fit in Jacksonville. They don't do anything right. And
what really concerns me is Trevor Lawrence has regressed. Some

(03:42):
of this is on coaching. He has regressed badly in
his last eighteen games. In their last twelve games, they're
two and ten, and they feel incredibly inefficient and loose.
That game wasn't even close. I mean, did you ever
think Jacksonville had a shot against a young team in
Chicago that's trying to find their footing in their way

(04:04):
total control of that football game in London for three
and a half hours.

Speaker 2 (04:07):
Where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (04:09):
You guys were all bailing on Steve Sarkisian and I
said he may be the best recruiter in the country
now that Nick Saban's retired. He's a tremendous play caller
and his quarterbacks. You can go back to was Washington
USC days. They all get better quickly. I love Sark.
They ran over Oklahoma thirty four to three, not a
big surprise. They were a two touchdown favorite to the

(04:30):
last unbeaten team in the SEC. I think the only
team that can really match up with him is Ohio
State and they played Georgia this weekend. I like Texas
to win that game, but I think it's a competitive game.
But I think Ohio State could potentially beat him. Maybe
Georgia could, but that offensive line looks like an offensive
line full of guys that will play on Sunday. Where

(04:51):
Colin was right, well, I said all summer Ohio State
is going to play for the national championship, but they're
going to lose in Eugene, and I thought if they
played again, Ohio State would win. I am concerned that
the defense continues to get gashed in these big games
against top ten teams. But Ohio State's a very good
football team. But Eugene is different. If the loudest college

(05:12):
stadium I've ever been in, it's built into the ground,
and I mean listen, Oregon's got four and five star
guys everywhere. I wouldn't be surprised if Oregon and Ohio
State and Texas are the three best teams when you
look up in December. But we called this one. I
think if they met again, and by the way, they
had eight penalties, fall starts, clock management issues. We had

(05:32):
predicted that crowd for a college program. They're going to
go on the road and look unsettled offensively, and they
did at.

Speaker 2 (05:39):
Times where Colin was raw.

Speaker 1 (05:42):
I fell in love with the San Diego Padres after
Game three and they didn't score a run from that
point forward. Yeah, I mean, Manny, Machado and Tatis were
one for fifteen in their last two games the minute
I fell in love with them. Apparently they sent all
the bats home because they couldn't score a run. LA
used eight relievers unheard of to shut them out in

(06:06):
the playoff game. I think San Diego is so much
fun to watch, but I mean Jack Flaherty, Aamamoto, all
those relievers. Eventually the better team won in Los Angeles,
where Colin was right. Steelers offensive coordinator Arthur Smith, we
predicted this would like justin Fields more than Russell Wilson.

(06:29):
Last week, Arthur Smith was quoted saying, I like fields.
There's no drama. He doesn't try to create a perception
he's endearing to his teammates, which was a bizarrely aggressive
shot at Russell Wilson. But this is what we predicted,
is that the guys are gonna like Justin Fields. He's
not rich, he's not sitting around on social media. He's

(06:50):
just a regular dude. Even in Chicago when he was losing,
everybody liked Justin Fields.

Speaker 2 (06:55):
Where Colin was right.

Speaker 1 (06:57):
Finally, the New Orleans Saints are what we thought they were.
I always judge a coach is he at least good
on his side of the ball. He may not be
good on the other side. But Dennis Allen, the Saints
are now allowing the most yards per game in the NFL,
and he's a defensive coach. I think he's a bit
over a skis. I think they probably have to take
a big swing at quarterback, but I picked them for

(07:20):
third or fourth in the division. I just too many,
too many great quarterbacks and too many great great coaches
in this league, and I don't think New Orleans is
good enough at those two positions. Where Colin was right.
Where Colin was wrong.

Speaker 2 (07:34):
On a Monday, be sure to catch live editions of
The Herd weekdays and neon Eastern nine AM Pacific on
Fox Sports Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app heard
Hierarchy No Go. The top ten NFL teams according to
College number ten.

Speaker 1 (07:54):
Tampa Bay Buccaneers four and two. Their offense leads the
NFL with four games for thirty points, and Baker Mayfield,
dating the last year, is humming. A big part of
it is he and Chris Godwin are money together. And
also the run game here is second in the league.
Rashad White, Bucky Irvin, Shawn Tucker. Giving Baker Mayfield a

(08:16):
run game like any quarterback is a game changer. Baker
Mayfield right now, you're gonna get some Pro Bowl votes.
He's humming. The Bucks are their ten, number nine. Atlanta
just beat him barely, so i'll give it Atlanta. Who's
two and oh on the road. I don't think they're
quite as inconsistent defensively, or I should say overall, is

(08:37):
an effort team. I like Kirk Cousins, been around the league,
consistent personality two and oh on the road. Their issue
is they don't get to the quarterback. They brought Matthew
Judon in from New England. He hasn't done anything so
they only have five sacks this year, so I think
I think Atlanta and Tampa are the two best teams.
I think. I think Kirk Cousins is such a steady,

(08:58):
unemotional ship. I give them a slight edge, but those
two teams are going to battle to the end. Carolina
saintern toast, they got both. Those teams have a million issues.
Number eight Buffalo, they're four to zero against teams under
five hundred. They're a little like the Dallas Cowboys. Can't
beat the good teams, beat the bad teams. And they
are twenty one to five against the AFC East over

(09:20):
the last five seasons. So it's a little Dallas Cowboys.
They can be fools.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Gold.

Speaker 1 (09:24):
I will say the offense is tied for the second
fewest giveaways in the NFL this year, and James Cook
was out last night. I think they have added a
dimension to their offense. I love their tight end Kincaid, Dawson, Knox,
but we gotta be honest. They don't beat the good team.
Kansas City beats the good teams. Baltimore can beat the
good teams. Buffalo's not beating the good teams. I put
him at eight. Number seven, I may have the Packers

(09:45):
two low again this week. Lead the NFL and turnover
differential Jordan loves Miss two games, He's second in the league,
and touchdown passes. I love this kid, had my questions early.
He's humming Dobbs Christian Watson. They got three tight ends
like five different players have multiple touchdown receptions. Nobody else
in the NFL saying that, and they lead the NFL

(10:09):
with fifty four what they call big plays. So again
this week, I have them probably a spot too low,
but they're a young team and can be a tad
inconsistent half to half. But I have them at seven
number six. If Joe Mixon plays, I think the Texans
are a handful. Their only loss came on the road
to the Vikings. They had a stinker. Everybody gets a stinker,

(10:29):
everybody but the Chiefs gives you stinker. Joe Mixon changes CJ. Stroud,
Nico Collins out. They got to get him back. The
defense with the Migo Ryans is excellent. I think this
team could get to the AFC Championship. I don't think
they're quite mature enough with big game experience to beat
a Kansas City. But if I was Kansas City. I
wouldn't want to play them. I think this team's a

(10:51):
really good Texan six, number five Niners. Now, they're not
good in the red zone. My belief is Christian McCaffrey
will solve that. But they've led by ten plus points
in five or six games. They are physical, they're multi dimensional.
Because of Shanahan, they all seemingly always have a lead.
Number two passing offense, number three rushing offense, and that's

(11:13):
without Christian McCaffrey. Also, Brock Kurdy has been tremendous on
third down this year. You know how much that means
to me. I think the great quarterbacks are third down quarterbacks.
MAM's the best in a long time. I have San
Francisco at five, number four, Ravens at four, number one
total offense, number one rushing offense. Lamar Jackson is now

(11:34):
twenty two and one against the NFC. I worry about
their pass defense, and this is going to be the
big issue with this team, is they're going to play
down even the games they play well and lead. I
worry about them late in games. But you know, I
love me Lamar Jackson and Baltimore. I have him at four,
number three, but I like that old line with Detroit

(11:56):
that I think can control the clock and keep their secondary,
which is a liability off the field. Now they got
to figure out what to do with Hutchison's loss Max Crosby.
I mean, the Raiders just gave out DeVante Adams. Do
you give away Max Crosby and you get more picks?
They have an excellent running back duo, best offensive line.
But the schedule gets tough. Now three of the next

(12:18):
four games Vikings, Packers, Texans. There's gonna be a couple
l's here potentially for the Lions. Number two Vikings off
of bye, They're gonna beat Detroit. That's my guess. One
of my picks of the week. Off of by, this
team's gonna beat Detroit. Detroit's off a huge win, feeling
themselves only undefeated team in the NFC. Now, again, like Baltimore,
my concern is great against the run, not great against

(12:41):
the pass. I could see this team going to the
playoffs and dominating somebody and leaking oil on the back end.
And that's why I have them at two. Number one
Kansas City, eleven straight wins. They're you know, I still
never know what I'm getting a wide receiver is Rashi
Rice coming back, Juju Smith Schuster can't set for Xavier

(13:01):
Worthy's kind of a gadget guy. Travis Kelsey can disappear.
But best defensive lineman, best defensive coordinator, best coach, best quarterback,
O line's good enough. I think you know I'm just
gonna take him. Put them here. I guess they're more vulnerable.
I guess, but they get number one.

Let's not waste any time. The Blazing Five.

Speaker 2 (13:31):
Let's blaze it up, Fired Up. It's Collins Blazon Fox.

Speaker 1 (13:36):
Patriots versus Jaguars favorites win in London. Jaguars second straight
week staying in London. Trevor Lawrence's last three games, he's
been good. One hundred and one passer rating, sixty eight
percent completion percentage. The Patriots are a mess. They're projected
to start their seventh different offensive line. Ramandre Stevenson may

(13:58):
not play their star back the thirty first ranked in scoring,
worst ranked offensive line in the league. Turnovers are coming
a plenty. This team is falling apart. Jacksonville's coaching staff
is desperate for a win, massive advantage at quarterback. Jacksonville
favorites do well overseas, especially favorites who have played there before.

(14:22):
Jags win and cover twenty seven to twenty.

Speaker 2 (14:28):
Lions at Vikings Okay.

Speaker 1 (14:30):
Vikings offensive coach off of bye rested. I like Minnesota
lay the one and a half. They're three to zero
at home. Only team to cover every game, but their
defense has been equally impressive. They've held opponents under twenty
points in four or five games. They're the only team
to not allow a touchdown outside of the red zone.

(14:52):
This is Brian Flores. You get nothing cheap. It's very
new England Patriots in their prime nothing cheap. Yes, Lions
are on a three game winning streak, but they faced
three of the worst defenses or most banged up defenses
in Seattle. The Cowboys and the Cardinals take a deep breath.
Aiden Hutchison not playing Carlton Davis. Their corner hasn't practiced

(15:17):
this week, so the pass rush significantly less. A top
corner is out. Minnesota up a bye this season. They
are first in a lot of categories. I don't consider
it an upset. Vikings win sees control of the Division
twenty eight to twenty.

Speaker 2 (15:33):
Four, Seahawks at Felkids.

Speaker 1 (15:36):
The Seahawks' defense is now officially healthy. Byron Murphy, the
great defensive tackle from Texas, will play, boyd Mafi will play.
So their defense. They got a banged up corner one
practice one didn't. But their three game losing streak has
come against teams like the Lions and the Niners. Okay,

(15:59):
they're a good team potentially. Remember their offense has the
highest passing rate in the league. Can they throw against Atlanta?
Of course they can because Atlanta has no pass rush.
The Falcons are on pace to have the lowest sack rate,
second host sack rate in league history. So Seattle defensive
front Mike McDonald has all the bigs upfront. Defensively, Gino

(16:22):
Smith will have time to throw. And I'm getting three points.
Remember I like Atlanta, I do, But if you look
at them, a couple of their wins have been over
the Saints They're dead and the Panthers worse. I think
the value is on a healthier Seattle team on the road.
Here Seahawks upset the Falcons twenty seven to twenty four.

(16:45):
Raiders and Rams, So I locked in this line on Monday.
This was my best pick. It was Rams minus five,
I said Monday on this show, I'm taking this to
blazing five. I said it five times. I don't care
what the number is. Now it is five. Getting Cooper Cup,
Rob Havenstein, the right tackle, a Jordan Whittingham at wide receiver.

(17:06):
They're getting healthier, and Stafford's been very good at home
in four or five home games this year. He's been
one hundred plus passer rating. Kyron Williams eight straight games
rushing touchdown. So I like the Rams when they get
healthy Offensively. The Raiders only win, okay, they've lost three
or four games, the only win in that stretches the
Browns eight and O'Connell no scrambles, four hundred and forty

(17:27):
dropbacks and totally immobile quarterback with a sixty two percent
completion percentage. They can't defend the run. They are all
banged up across the board, and now Devonte Adams has
gone Rams win pull away in the second half twenty
four to fourteen. I'm taking five. I announced it. I

(17:47):
declared it on Monday.

Speaker 2 (17:50):
Jet said Steelers, Okay.

Speaker 1 (17:52):
This was another game I liked. Early in the week.
We waited on the line. I'm gonna take the Jets
minus one and a half. First of all, they should
have beaten Buffalo. They're the best two to four team
in the league. They had a season high in motion
in their offense when they replaced Neat Hackett, so they
look like a modern progressive offense. First game now with
a Devonte Adams, he'll probably have some red zone opportunities.

(18:14):
Their defense is great, Their pass defense is sensational. They
have the best corner combo in the league. Against the
team offensively that struggles Pittsburgh's lost two to three games.
They only win recently was Aiden O'Connell. You know, the
Purdue kid doesn't move pocket guy sitting duck against the
Jets pass rush. They can't run the ball effectively. The
passing offense is the Pits. I think it's an inspired

(18:38):
Jets team getting Devonte Adams, which increases and improves Aaron
Rodgers mood. I think they should have beaten Buffalo, but
not for Taylor Rapp and Jaron Johnson making the interception
of the year. They beat Buffalo if they had a
field goal kicker who can make kicks, they beat a
very good Buffalo team. You're getting major value here with
an offense in Pittsburgh that doesn't know what they're doing.

(18:58):
Jets win twenty seven to twenty lay the points. So
that's four favorites. Who you know see four favorites. Yeah,
four favorites in the Seahawks. I last week I went
favorites as well. I think in most of these games,
I'm taking at least decent quarterback play and value. I

(19:20):
know in the Seahawks game, you're worried, but Atlanta is
one of those teams. Sometimes you have a winning record
and you're not as good as your record. Sometimes the Jets,
you have a losing record, you're much better than your record.
The Jets feel four and two, the Steelers feel two
and four, and I only have to lay a point
and a half and I get Aaron Rodgers over whoever

(19:42):
they play at quarterback.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
He played with the Denver Broncos, who won last night.
He played under Sean Payton years ago. He's Emmanuel Sanders,
a regular on our show. At two time Pro Bowl receiver,
over a decade in the league, in a Super Bowl
champ with those Broncos not long ago. So you played
under Sewn in New Orleans. He's outspoken, he's raw, he

(20:15):
doesn't suffer fools gladly. He's intense. But I'll tell you
Denver with their cap situation, emmanual this year and next
is a bit of a mess. And he's he looks
like he's squeezing everything out of the orange he can.
What's his secret? When you played for him? Well, if
I didn't ever watch Sean, what's his secret?

Speaker 3 (20:35):
I mean, for me, Sean's a winner?

Speaker 4 (20:36):
Uh? You know when I went to New Orleans, obviously
we had Drew over there, but I mean every single
game was like Sean was ahead of defensive coordinator. I mean,
he's as smart as they come. He's seen a lot
of football, and he knows how to get his players
to play. He brings the best out of his players.
I remember when I was in New Orleans, that was
during COVID. I mean we had myself was out, my
Thomas was out. We had so many guys that are out,

(20:59):
but yet were still going and still winning. And it's
just a testament to Sean and his coaching and how
he gets guys to play. I mean, right now, you
see what he's doing with a rookie quarterback. Yeah, I
mean he has bow Nicks playing well. I mean well
enough to win games, and I mean he's doing it,
and I'm excited. You know, when we picked up Sean,
you know, I'm still living out here different When we

(21:19):
picked him up, I was ecstatic about it because I
knew that we now had a coach who can go
into the AFC West versus Andy Reid. Now we got
harpball in the AFC West and we're gonna be able
to compete, and.

Speaker 3 (21:29):
I hope we do.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
Vegas had him at five wins and they're already at four.
So I'm happy for my friend Sewn Peyton. You also
are a teammate of Josh Allen about four years ago.
So they add Amari Cooper. And what I like about
this is I think Buffalo's good organization. He is a
smart veteran who runs good routes. I don't think they
need an over the top guy. What they need here

(21:54):
is nine targets and six catches and good on third
down takeaway on what Amar Cooper provide as a veteran
receiver for Josh.

Speaker 3 (22:04):
Yeah, I think this was a great pick up.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
You know, Mario the past few years have had a
thousand yard season with the Browns.

Speaker 3 (22:11):
I mean, five time Pro bowler.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
If you go back and watch the Jets game, you
see when the Jets played man and man, it was
kind of hard for guys to create separation. So you
bring in a guy Mari I still remember with the
Cowboys and how he run his route.

Speaker 3 (22:25):
I think he's similar to a guy like Davante Adams is.

Speaker 2 (22:28):
If you come up and press me, you better.

Speaker 3 (22:30):
Have your mind right to come up with.

Speaker 4 (22:32):
I'm about to give you some sauce that you probably
can't handle. Yeah, you know, And to have a guy
like that in the locker room, it's just awesome for
Josh who he knows if you want to play us
man and man, I know I can go to this guy.
But not only that, they got a young receiver cores
over there in Buffalo. So to bring somebody in has
some success, Ben to the Pro Bowl, had thousand yards seasons.

(22:55):
Somebody for those young guys to look at it and
be like, Okay, this is how he's supposed to.

Speaker 3 (22:59):
This is how you're supposed to do it, and that's
how you become.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
A veteran and a professional. So I think it was
a great pick for sure for Buffalo.

Speaker 1 (23:06):
Now, how much can we expect because Aaron, unlike Amari
and Josh, Aaron and Davonte have played together. They got
the back shoulder timing down. How many practices? How many
games do you need before you believe Davante is a
real weapon for the Jets.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
I think it's gonna be a set because at the
end of the day, Davante is a route runner and
only that he's a guy who can create separation. And
in the National Football League, the difference to a high
school and the National Football League of separation. The margin
might be this big right in high school, but in
the National Football League it's this big. What's the problem

(23:44):
with a guy like Davante? Is this gonna be this big?

Speaker 3 (23:47):
And then you've got a quarterback like Aaron Rodgers who's
gonna put the ball here?

Speaker 4 (23:50):
So I think it's gonna be all predicated on the
play calling, honestly, in terms of what routes he's comfortable
with and putting him in those positions for him to succeed.

Speaker 3 (23:59):
But I think he's gonna have instant, instant success.

Speaker 4 (24:02):
Now the problem is they're playing against the Steelers and
that defense is stout, so it's gonna be interesting. But
I'm actually looking forward to see it to see if
they could still have that same chemistry that they had
in Green Bay, because it'd be awesome to see.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Speaking of the Steelers, Mike Tomlin obviously drafting, developing defense,
it's what the Steelers do. But you know, Big Ben
leaves Pittsburgh, Brady Lives leaves New England, and those defensive
cultures they're lost at sea. They're trying. It's Trubisky, Mason,
Rudolph Russell, Wilson, Justin Fields. I mean they're trying. They're
bailing water.

Speaker 2 (24:36):
Are you Do you like?

Speaker 1 (24:38):
Justin's foreign two and they're replacing him. Now he may
not be all this, but do you like that? Mover
would just stick with the kid.

Speaker 3 (24:49):
You know and playing for the Stellers.

Speaker 4 (24:50):
They're playing on the Mike tom and I remember when
Justin Fields came out here. I went to the game
when they played against the Broncos and remember talking to
uh several guys on the staff and tell how much.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
I love Justin Fields and how he.

Speaker 4 (25:05):
Plays and how he can extend plays with his legs,
and and not only that, like just how he how
he plays Like I'm a fan of how Justin Fields plays.
But when I think about Mike Tomlin and what he's
built on, He's built on leadership. And there's not a
coach that I can remember who who had more leadership

(25:26):
than Mike.

Speaker 3 (25:26):
Towmland in the way that he led.

Speaker 4 (25:28):
And so when I think about that situation, I think, what,
what is the what is the reason behind? You know,
even a battle with Russell Wilson and coming and replaced
Justin Fields, and and you know, for some reason, I
kept going back to leadership. Now I know Russell, and
Russell is the ultimate leader as well, He's gonna get
those guys going and from that standpoint, so it'll be

(25:50):
interesting to see how that how that situation plays out.

Speaker 3 (25:53):
But also I know Mike Tomlin wants to win the
Super Bowl.

Speaker 4 (25:56):
So sometimes I sit back and say, who gives the
Stillers a better chance at winning a Super Bowl as well?

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Because they have a top ranked defense.

Speaker 4 (26:04):
Now they need a signal caller who's who's probably been
there before, done that before probably won't Pinnick in those situations,
and I kind of lean more towards Russell Wilson, but
towards the future of the Stellers now lean more towards
Justin Field.

Speaker 3 (26:16):
So I mean, it's an interesting situation.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
But I think Mike Mike Tomlin when me and Antonio
Brown was there, he says, I got.

Speaker 3 (26:22):
Two dogs and one bone. I got two dogs in
one bowl.

Speaker 4 (26:26):
And then it's crazy how it's interesting how he's in
that same situation in terms of he got two he
got two dogs, but he only got one ball to
one starting spot. So he's trying to figure out who
who fished that, who fits that position best for this
year's team. And I think that he's gonna do what
he has to do in order in order to figure
it out in order to try to win a Super Bowl,
not just win or have a winning season, to try

(26:47):
to put out the best Super Bowl team.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
So Troy Aikman was highly critical of Ceedee Lamb in
the entire Dallas Receiving car. Let's listen to this sound.

Speaker 5 (27:00):
I think the routes are terrible. I think they run
terrible routes, and and I've thought that beyond this year,
and I think Ceed's got to improve and his route running.
And as a quarterback, if you're not certain where guys
are going to be consistently, it's hard. It's hard to
play the position. I see guys lazy coming off the
line of scrimmage. Sometimes they sometimes they run. Usually if

(27:23):
they do, it's because they're anticipating they're going to get
the football in that play. But if they're not, they don't,
and it all ties together. And so I'm not impressed
with that part of it.

Speaker 1 (27:32):
So who's to blame now? I mean, listen, there's a reason.
I get it. It's a long season. Guys gonna have
bad practices, But when you get to Sunday, you got
to tighten up the screws. If you're running bad routes
knowing it's going to be on the film session on Monday.
Isn't that a McCarthy issue, the head coach issue?

Speaker 3 (27:51):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (27:52):
Oh, you know, when I listened to Troy Wurz, he said,
he said, guys are being lazy. But only time I
him really running hard is when they're getting the ball.
And you know, I've had I've had the I've been
blessed to play on three Super Bowl teams, and I
remember playing with Peyton, and Peyton was huge on if
you're not getting the ball, still running the route full

(28:14):
speed just because you don't want to give anything away
or you never know I might come to you because
you might be the second lead. So that's what Troy
is seeing. Then that's just absolutely laziness. And it goes
the same thing in the run game. And when I
look at at this Cowboys team, I mean they got
they got to get their run game together as well.

Speaker 3 (28:32):
It all ties in, It all ties in together.

Speaker 4 (28:35):
So if guys are being lazy and not running off
the ball because they're not getting the ball, I'm pretty
sure that they're probably not blocking in the run game
as well.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
And so that's a mindset from.

Speaker 4 (28:45):
The head coach one hundred and when when I look
at this Cowboys team, I feel like everybody's kind of
in panic mode. But they're three and three right now,
they have a buye and then they have the Niners.

Speaker 3 (28:55):
But I think that that's just the attitude adjustment.

Speaker 4 (28:58):
That has to be be said throughout the team in
terms of let's get out damn mines together, Let's go
out and play some real football and let's not be lazy,
and let's let's go hard every single play.

Speaker 3 (29:09):
I mean, when I proached the game, I had eighty plays.

Speaker 4 (29:12):
I said, all of those eighty plays, I'm gonna do
a fool speed balls to the wall.

Speaker 3 (29:15):
And that's just how I'm gonna play the game.

Speaker 4 (29:17):
And so I think it's an attitude adjustment that they
have to make within the Cowboys organization if they want
to get where they.

Speaker 3 (29:23):
Want to be.

Speaker 1 (29:23):
I think it's interesting you mentioned that if guys are
lazy on their routes, as you said, Emmanuel, they're probably
not blocking on the run. So what I mean, I
mean that the routes is for them, the runnings a sacrifice.
So that's a real issue, and that's why they can't
run the football. Finally, you played under Kyle Shanahan. He
has struggled with Andy Reid. Many believe that Kyle's got

(29:45):
the better players, but you know, Andy Reid mahomes figure
this out. I kind of like, even though the Chiefs
are on a buy, I kind of like San Francisco
this weekend, do you believe as much as they've won,
that that Kansas City stuff hangs over their head. You
were in this culture for a year or do you
think it's just every game is different, But could you

(30:06):
kind of sense Kansas City is different?

Speaker 4 (30:09):
Look, I mean, I've been retired for two years, and
I still have feelings towards, uh, towards Patrick Mahomes and
the Chiefs, just because they beat us in the Super Bowl.
So I know that Kyle's still thinking, like, man, we
gotta get these guys, And I why not get him twice.

Speaker 3 (30:25):
This year if we see him again in the super Bowl,
but we gotta get him again.

Speaker 4 (30:28):
In the regular season, just to get that nasty taste
out of our mouth and and and to believe that
we can run with these guys and we can beat
these guys.

Speaker 3 (30:36):
And I got a feeling that's gonna always that's hower
taste is always gonna.

Speaker 4 (30:40):
Be, uh, you know, in Kyle's mouth, you know what
I mean? And Terrys of you know, Andy Reid beating
him twice in the Super Bowl. But I mean this,
this this week is definitely personal, and I'll be root
for the Nighters as well, even though I love Patrick
Mahoons and sometimes I find myself hating on him because
he is so good.

Speaker 3 (30:56):
Kind of like the whole time, Brady situation.

Speaker 4 (30:59):
But you know, I love watching him play, but at
the same time, and I want to see the Niners
take them down.

Speaker 3 (31:03):
Yep.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Emmanuel Sanders, two time pro bowler, twelve years in this league.
It's a Friday. Good seeing your buddy. As always, I appreciate.

Speaker 3 (31:10):
It you seeing as well. Take care of all right.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
I mean he said he's been under Kyle Shanahan, he's
been under Mike Tomlin, he's been under Sean Payton. It's
really amazing what Denver's doing. I mean they bow Nicks
did not play well last night. His mechanics are a
bit of a mess. Uh, And that was always the question.
He didn't have a big arm, really athletic accurate, but
last night his accuracy, I mean, they had they shortened routes.

(31:33):
He had a couple of bad, bad misses. One in
the red zone. One Rea threw between one receiver and
before another. It was like comically bad. So they'll get
that worked out. But I love the ability of Peyton
to a sense quarterbacks feet. He's nervous, he's got anxious feet.
Let's run the ball, shorten the routes. That's what great
coaching does.
