(02:05):
Daniel Cormier. You guys have seen me in so many
different roles, right the fight of the broadcaster, the podcaster.
But what you have not seen me do is talk
to my family and the people closest to me. And
because of that, I want to introduce you to my
newest adventure in podcasting, and that's gonna be talking to
my boys, the closest people to me, about the sport
(02:27):
that we all love so much. You got my cousin Terry.
Me and this guy were born two days apart, and
you might know him, you just might not have took
notice of him. He's the guy that every single time
I walked onto away in stage was up there with me.
But not only is he a big time fan, he's obsessed.
(02:48):
I cannot tell you how many tuesdays I have got
text from Terry talking about he's watching the Contended series.
The shit is out of control. How much this dude
watch fighting. We used to watch video consettes of all
all the boxing fights he had growing up. His true lad,
diehard fan. I'm excited if you ought to get to
know Terry better. Bottom left my nephew Jamel. Terry was
(03:09):
also in the military, so Tee, thank you for your service.
We got my nephew, Jamel, who lived with me when
he was in high school, ultimately went to play basketball
at Northeastern Oklahoma onto the University of Central Oklahoma. My
oldest nephew and one of the closest people to me.
Multiple times, this guy has held me up after walking
(03:33):
to the way and stage where I was barely able
to stand tall. So I'm excited. If you ought to
get to know Jamel, just know this about the jamelto
Jamel does not hold his tongue. The only way I
got him to agree to do this was if he's
allowed to be him, So enjoy him. I guess the
only way he's gonna do it, and then I let
him be here. And lastly, you got my cousin Craig.
(03:56):
This is one of my greatest friends. Again, He's been
there from day one. He worked as my assistant for
a little bit. He worked in my training camps. He
was also lived with me he was in high school,
went on to play football at Oklahoma Southwest Southeastern Oklahoma,
and d Ran Oklahoma. He was a cornerback. I've burned
(04:19):
his asatoma two in my life. Just ran right past
him on the fly route. But Craig is also very
knowledgeable mixed martial arts. These are my guys, and look,
you'll get to know him better as we get going.
And there have a fellas. Thank y'all for joining him,
and I appreciate it. Let's go on, all right, boys,
So the first topic right last week or yeah, a
(04:42):
couple of days ago, Tony Ferguson's latest fight was announced. Now,
as you guys know, Tony Ferguson has lost multiple fights
in a row, and after the last fight against Bobby Green,
I was of the belief that he had probably reached
the end of the road. Now we might I have
seen Tony Ferguson anymore, but lo and behold. In December,
(05:05):
one of the biggest fights of the year, Tony Ferguson's
next fight just got announced. He's gonna be fighting Patty
Pimblet at the UFC pay per view. Last time we
saw Patty, he was in a very controversial decision, got
the victory, but it seemed as though whereas everything went
right for Patty in the beginning, the fans started to
turn on him. So my question to y'all is this
(05:28):
is this booking more about Tony Ferguson and what he
is in his career, or is this booking more about
elevating Patty Pimblet. We'll start with you, Terry.
Speaker 3 (05:38):
I think it has to be the elevator Patty Pimblet,
just because you're gonna use Tony Ferguson as a name.
But like, after looking at it, that's what I thought
at first initially when it got announced, But after looking
at it, I'm looking at the level of competition that
Tony Ferguson fought and it's all killers, like all the
way down. Bobby Green was probably the fight that he had.
So I'm thinking, like, if Patlet for the same level
(06:01):
of competition that Tony Ferguson did, his record probably looks
exactly the same. I don't think. I don't think Patty
Pimler beats a Mike Chandler. I don't think Patty Pimlin
beats Charles Olavera like he's fighting high level competition. And granted,
I don't think Tony Ferguson is still the same guy
that he was, don't get me wrong, But I don't
(06:22):
think it's that bad of a matchup. When you're looking
at it, Tony has fought the better level of competition,
so when you're.
Speaker 2 (06:30):
But when you're looking at Tony Ferguson, you could tell
me that he resembles the guy that was on that
twelve flight win streak.
Speaker 3 (06:36):
Definitely not. And that's where like, that's why I'm conflicted.
When I'm looking at it, where he's fighting Patty Pimlet,
it has to be the bill Patty, But I don't
think it's that type of fight. I think he has
a better chance they were giving him credit for. Like, Yeah,
I'm not high on Patty Pimlet, bro Like, I'm not
thinking that Patty Pimlin is on that level. Like, put
Patty Pimlin in there with Michael Chandler right now, and
(06:57):
he's gonna get killed. Bro eight.
Speaker 2 (07:01):
Jameel has a completely different take on tons, completely different.
Speaker 1 (07:07):
Man.
Speaker 4 (07:07):
You lost me when you said his last fight with
Bobby Green, you thought he was at the end of
the row.
Speaker 1 (07:12):
I thought he did.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
I did.
Speaker 1 (07:14):
He was at the end of the road way.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
Before his last He was at the end of the
road wave before the last fight with Bobby Green.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Bro Killers, He's been, he been done tee. I guess.
I guess they are using the Tony Ferguson name.
Speaker 4 (07:34):
Hey, oh he done, no question, Jamel.
Speaker 2 (07:41):
But Terry does make a point, right, Terry does make
a point that on that seventh fight losing streak boys
been Nate Diaz, it's been, it's been. Uh uh, Charles Olavelli.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
He has been done long as Tony Ferguson.
Speaker 5 (08:01):
I agree with that.
Speaker 1 (08:02):
I agree with that too.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
That was no, no, no.
Speaker 1 (08:06):
Who who else are we naming?
Speaker 2 (08:09):
Well, I'm just trying to tell you when you look
at the list of guys that Tony Ferguson has fought,
Like Terry said, he did get when this losing streak started, right,
it was when he fought for the interim title. He
fought Justin Gaechee. Then after he fought Justin Gaichee, he
fought against Charles Olavera, and then he fought Nate Diaz,
and then he fought Michael Chandler, and then it seemed
like he was taking a step back when he fought
(08:30):
Bobby Green. But Bobby Green, as we all know, is
a very talented mixed martial artists. Bobby Green has been
around for a long time, so Tony Ferguson has not
fought I mean, we have seen Tony Ferguson in there
with a who's who of fighters in mixed martial arts.
So when you look at this matchup Craig, it can't
be as simple as they are gonna use his name
(08:51):
to elevate Patty Pimlin. Even though on first look, everybody
has that first reaction it's exactly like, oh, like we
go again, Tony Ferguson out there with this young dude
to lose because it seems like he's getting fed to him.
But he has fun a level of competition that not
many people can even see.
Speaker 6 (09:11):
Well, let me tell you something, BRO, I have a list.
Just like y'all put a list together. I have a list.
Speaker 5 (09:18):
One of the things that were missing right now is
I look through my roller.
Speaker 6 (09:22):
Decks and I see the people that he's beaten in
his twelve fight win streak. Yes, I feel like they're
doing something. That twelve fight run came about three or
four years. He ain't lost to nobody. He beat all
these cats, and then he started taking a dive. What's
his losing streak right now?
Speaker 2 (09:40):
I think it's seven six or seven six or seven.
Speaker 6 (09:43):
I think he got about I think he got about
I thought it was like closer than nine.
Speaker 2 (09:48):
No, he lost like six or seven.
Speaker 6 (09:50):
Okay, so you know what, he has about five or
six more fights to lose to match that twelve fight
win streak.
Speaker 2 (09:57):
You know, you don't get to lose twelve fight no role, bro.
Speaker 7 (10:01):
If if you're Elka Couli, you get to lose.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
You lose six. You really want him to turn to
the boogeyman?
Speaker 2 (10:09):
Is none?
Speaker 1 (10:10):
Bro? You want him to die?
Speaker 4 (10:13):
Broe there looking like a bogeyman.
Speaker 2 (10:18):
Here's the question though, Bro, but is it simple? Isn't
as simple as? Is it as simple as he just
needs one? Because imagine what happens for Tony Ferguson if
he beats Patty Pimblet. He said before the last fight,
I sat in the fighter meeting when that Tony Ferguson said,
it's gonna be a fight right now. Five more fights.
I'm on the title. So it's not like he has
(10:40):
lost that desire to fight. He has not lost his
the thought that he can be a world champion. And
I'm gonna tell you this right now, and this is
the saying his oldest time fellas, every great champion has
one more night in him. We saw with George Foreman
when he beat Michael Moore. He did not along in
(11:00):
the ring with Michael Moore. We have seen so many
great fighters have one great night where if you close
your eyes and you squint enough, they remind you of
that person that was on that run. They remind you, Jamel,
of the Tony Ferguson that beat Kevin Lee for the
interim championship. They remind you of the Tony Ferguson that
beat Josh Thompson and beat all these dudes, cowboys, Sarony
(11:21):
and all them dudes that he made look so average
when we're talking about Hall of famers. Cowboy SHARONI is
a Hall of Famer, and Tony Perguson.
Speaker 4 (11:30):
Beat him slash quittern, yesers beat it.
Speaker 1 (11:35):
Kevin Lee?
Speaker 6 (11:37):
Oh come on, hey, Jamel, tell us what happened with
the Kevin Lee fight?
Speaker 3 (11:42):
Bro?
Speaker 5 (11:42):
What happened to Kevin Lee fight?
Speaker 1 (11:44):
They bow trash bro?
Speaker 2 (11:47):
He talking about Who's king?
Speaker 5 (11:49):
He was getting washed though that first round.
Speaker 4 (11:51):
Hey, oh listen, you saying give him one more? Justin
gat you they said he just need one more? Gave
him Charles over, he just need one? How many gonna
give him before you just keep losing? The dude is done?
Kind of be honest, though, kind of be honest. Tony
Ferguson is exactly who he's always been, the same fighting style,
the same guy. He's just not fighting those guys that
(12:14):
he fought on that twelve fight win streak.
Speaker 2 (12:16):
So you show you think that the twelve fight win
streak when you're watching it as a fan is more
about the people he's lost to opposed to Tony Firk. I mean,
I think Tony Ferguson was so good, bro. The way
he would hit these guys, the way he would hit
these guys, they would look like they were bludgeing Terry.
Speaker 3 (12:36):
It looked like he had like the elbows he had,
like that rangiest style, Like he was dangerous, bro.
Speaker 2 (12:41):
Don't get me wrong, I just that's what I'm saying.
I just feel like you and I Terry have a
better appreciation for who he was than Craig and Jamal.
Speaker 3 (12:47):
So I've never viewed him as, like I'm being honest,
I've never viewed him as like the guy like when
they had him on that run when he had to
fight Kabee, when he's gonna fight Kabib. I never really
viewed him as that big of a three to him.
But I just know, like if they would get in
that with him, he was cutting him up. He was
he was tricky, like his wrestling was tricky, Like he
(13:07):
was he was dangerous. Now I don't think he's that anymore.
But I'm just maybe because I'm not that high on
Paddy Pimlet that I think he still has a chance
against the fighter of that Calvi, but losing to Jared Guard.
Speaker 1 (13:21):
I agree with you.
Speaker 4 (13:21):
I'm not high on Paddy either, but what is Tony
Ferguson doing that's different than what he did before?
Speaker 1 (13:27):
He fights the exact same, So why does it not
working on?
Speaker 4 (13:30):
But let me ask you, I think the matchups in
that twelve fight win Street was the perfect time for
Turner Ferguson took for those fights.
Speaker 2 (13:38):
I think he lost something. I think he lost something
in the Justin Geatechee fight, middle of a pandemic, no
people in the arena fighting Justin Gaigee for five rounds,
getting beat up for as long as that took. I
thought he lost something in that fight, and he just
never looked the same afterwards. But guys, not many people
don't lose something when they fight Justin Gaechee. That's what
(13:58):
happens justin Gegie. He takes a little part of you
that you don't get back. So I don't think you
could blame Tony Ferguson for that.
Speaker 4 (14:06):
So so we're looking at the names in that twelve
fight that made him, Oh my is Tony Ferguson.
Speaker 1 (14:12):
But let's think about it all. All the guys that
he fought, I feel.
Speaker 4 (14:16):
Like was kind of on their way out in that
twelve The ones with the name was kind of on
that decline. Josh Thomas Thompson, jodsh Thompson. Bro, you know
Josh Thompson. I know, yeh, Josh Thompson. Josh Thompson's r DA.
I mean he's still fighting today, is he r die tho?
Speaker 3 (14:36):
But at that time, like he fought him in twenty sixteen,
So I think that was our DA at that point
in the game, Bro. And he was a former lightweight champion.
I gotta give you credit for that. And then you
got Edson Barbosa. He's not he's not he wasta get it.
He's not perfect, but he still was dangerous at that time.
He would he would pose problems for him.
Speaker 2 (14:57):
I think Jamel just kind of don't like. I think
he just looked at Toty Ferguson. So so the whole
time when we even at a kid, were like, man,
this is the hardest fight for you just you guys
just never bought it. Craig y'all never bought that. Tony
Fergson will be that guy that would challenge I'll be
that way.
Speaker 6 (15:12):
I'll tell you this much. When he fought Landovanada, that
fight right there, it was like it was so entertaining,
right it was super entertaining, but it.
Speaker 5 (15:22):
Shouldn't have been.
Speaker 6 (15:23):
And at that moment, like before, I'm not gonna lie
because I've been around you, guys, and then around all
the guys like preparing for Ferguson three fights in a
row and never getting to get that. And then we
finally see him fighting Landovanada and he's doing them cartwells
and them backflips and all that stuff to get around
this kid, and it's a freaking fight.
Speaker 5 (15:45):
I was like, this is this is not Elka Koi anymore?
Speaker 6 (15:48):
Like now I started looking at him totally different, like
I don't I don't see Tony Ferguson as the guy
that's gonna challenge kud Be and I didn't. And we
never got to see that because we literally saw a
decline three fights later from Tony Ferguson that has continued today.
Speaker 2 (16:07):
That dude is ae just still feels like he can fight.
All right, guys, it's September, so you know what that means.
As always, we got more mixed martial arts. But but
is the return of pro and college football. Now you
can always watch it on TV, but trust me, guys,

is my last question before moving on to Tony Ferguson.
Is there risk in using Tony Ferguson as the UFC
(17:38):
to elevate Pivlet Because no matter what you say, they
ds Tony Ferguson, all them dudes right that the fans love,
they hold a special place in their heart. Is it
dangerous for these dudes to be used to uplift these guys?
Because I can work in the opposite direction. You can
have the fans turn on that kid. It's not professional wrestling.
(18:01):
In professional wrestling, you take the old guy, he gets
pinned by the new guy, and then the new guy
becomes the man. It's not as simple and fighting. Some
people are so drawn to those memories of who these
guys were that they may turn on the new guy.
Is there a risk? And if Patty Pivlet goes out
there and he demolishes Tony Ferguson, that the general fan goes.
(18:25):
I don't like seeing that happen to one of a
guy like el KAKUI, especially when a section of people
feel just like you Jamel, just like Craig, that he
may be past his best days.
Speaker 3 (18:38):
So it's almost like you're behavior. You're beating on someone
that you feel like is a shell of himself. And
it's like to me, like for Patty Pemlin, he's already
kind of on the decline from what he was, like
with the loss to Jared Garden with some of the
things that he's done, Like, he's not the same Patty Pemlin,
so this could be a negative thing if he does so.
Speaker 2 (18:57):
Patty Pimlet, Patty Pimlin is the same kid. He gonna
beat the same kid I'm talking about Tony. On the
Ferguson side, Terry is, they're dangerous. If Paddy Pimlin walks
right through Tony Ferguson, does the general public go, Man,
I don't like this. I don't like seeing one of
my great champions go down in the way that he did.
Because t when Lenox Lewis beat Mike Tyson, right, there
(19:18):
was so much hope that Mike Tyson, after coming out
of jail and all this stuff, he had beaten a
couple of them due friends both in all them dudes,
people thought Mike Tyson's back, Maybe Mike Tyson becomes the
world champion. And when you watch Lynx Lewis beat on him,
you couldn't help but feel like, I don't know about
this Lenux Lewis dude, and I think it hurt Lenox
more than it helped him. Is there a chance that
(19:39):
this happens to Patty Pimblin, Yeah, he can.
Speaker 3 (19:42):
I think it really can, just because like put is
it very same reason that you say that that it
could fall back because he's like he's already on the
decline with the Jared Gordon thing. That's why I was
saying that whereas like he didn't get a clear win,
people still look at him differently from the behavior from
that fight. So now if he goes there and he
beats on Tony Tony Ferguson, and like you said that
(20:04):
that effect comes that could damage his career because now
you're not even taking on challenges anymore. You're just fighting
washed up people. Again, I hate to say that about
any fighter, but like we've kind of came to that
conclusion that he's a shell of himself.
Speaker 2 (20:18):
No, that's camp to that.
Speaker 4 (20:20):
Why why do you hate to say he washed up?
That is a fact, bro. We shouldn't be scared to
say facts. I'm the general I'm general public. Gonna feel bad,
been feeling bad on listen. I really think, I really
think though UF season a no win situation. If we're
being honest, if they if he go out there and
get his ass, if he gets beat bad, they're gonna
(20:41):
say he shouldn't have done that fight.
Speaker 1 (20:42):
If he goes out there and win, then they lose Patty.
Speaker 2 (20:46):
Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a dangerous fight. So so
it's a no win. It's a no win situation. Ultimately, ultimately,
Tony Ferguson gets an opportunity to make that walk again,
and especially when so many called for him to be
done after losing to Bobby Green in the way that
he did. All right, guys, so last night, alright, nope,
(21:06):
all right, guys. So last weekend we were watching UFC
Fight Night, where Michelle Watterson had a terrible cut. We
saw Raphael Fazi break his foot while kicking the arm
of Matatio's Gamrock. But what stood out to me the
most is probably not the biggest names on the card.
It was Cody Brundage fighting Jacob Malcoun. Jacob Malcoun, who
(21:29):
is a wrestler one of Robert Whitaker's friends and teammates,
was beating on Cody Brundage. Cody Brundage gets hit with
an illegal blow. Right, guys, Brundage is on the three
fight losing street. The dude has lost three fights in
a row. Generally, you don't even get three in a
row in the UFC before you get cut. But he's
(21:51):
lost three in a row and he's well on his
way to losing again. He gets hit with an illegal
blow Mark Smith. Referee, Mark Smith. We give these refs
a lot of bad time when they make mistakes, so
we want to give Mark Smith credit for being right
way we're supposed to be. He makes the call as
Brundage if he could continue. Brundage says no. He gets
a victory, losing streak over now he at least gets
(22:14):
another fight in the UFCEE. This dude was getting beat
by Jacob Malcoum. My question is what's the right way
to do this? Because we have seen on so many occasions, right,
Mohammed Usman poked his opponent in the eye last night.
The guy continues, Mohammed Husman gets to win. John Jones
need Anthony Smith on the ground illegally. Anthony Smidt continues
(22:36):
to fight, loses to fight. John Jones moves on as
the champion. Anthony Smith then starts to flounder a little bit.
But if he would have laid down, he would be
the champ. He gets paid for view in the return
al Jamain Sterling is the greatest case of this. He
lays down. Three fights later, people are considering him the
greatest bandam weight of all time. So my question is
(22:57):
what's the right way? Do you get up and continue
you or do you just deal with the general public going, well,
this guy laid down.
Speaker 3 (23:05):
I think as a fan, we want to see him
continue no matter what, right because we're looking at him
and we want to say, hey, this guy, if you
can fight, you should fight. That's what we're here to watch.
But as a fighter, I'm like, hey, bro, Like, if
he's gonna get cut, he's losing his source of revenue.
So if he has a chance to fight one more
fight and that's the way he gets it done, and maybe,
(23:26):
like you said, he goes out the next fight and
he dominates and he gets a new contract, he's good
to go. It's probably not the most favorable thing, but
like you said, when with el Jamaine Sterling, we know that, hey,
you can reverse the idea what people have of you
if I don't just win.
Speaker 2 (23:41):
I think people kept judging al Jamain for those actions
though it felt like even when he was the champion
beating all these dudes, it felt like people held on
to the fact that he won the belt in that way,
even though he came back and he beat Pyotryan. It's
not like you didn't fight Pyodana getting beat him.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
He beat him, laid down. I am laying down taking
the money. I'm taking the belt.
Speaker 4 (24:04):
And guess what, they only remember that I laid down
when it's time for me to fight. Only when, only
when it's time for me.
Speaker 1 (24:12):
To fight, they remember that I laid down in my life. Listen,
I do not care.
Speaker 4 (24:17):
I will walk around every day with that extra money
in that belt, and only here that I laid down
when they promoting my next fight. Who cares? Man, if
you heard it, you can't continue. Take the money, take
the belt, and and and they did something illegal, that's
on them. It's not your it's not your fault. Take
the belt, man, take the money.
Speaker 6 (24:36):
You know when they say that that that little saying
going out on your shield, you know where that come from,
Like the Greeks and the Romans and ship like that,
Like going out on your shield meant you died, You're done,
You're not coming back.
Speaker 5 (24:52):
So what's the what's the point of going out on
your shield?
Speaker 2 (24:57):
You can't go.
Speaker 5 (24:58):
You can't come back home like bro.
Speaker 6 (25:00):
Oh, so you're going to the afterworld with the forty
forty wives and all that.
Speaker 5 (25:07):
No, man, I want.
Speaker 6 (25:08):
To stay here on this earth, be a or get
an opportunity to fight again. So like al Jamaine, he
to he laid down, like Jay said, my man laid down.
Speaker 5 (25:18):
He got to fight again.
Speaker 6 (25:20):
Beat somebody the cat that he laid down for, beat the.
Speaker 5 (25:25):
Cat, and then goes on and becomes like mystic pretty much.
Speaker 2 (25:29):
Yeah, he beat dude, He beat he beat he beat him,
Then he beat TJ. Dillashaw, He beat us Henry Shudo,
and then fought Sean O'Malley and then the forty fight.
Even though he lost. Sean O'Malley brings eyes. Sean O'Malley,
for as big as star as he was, wasn't the
one that was collecting pay per view revenue. It was
al Jamaine Sterling. But none of that happens if al
(25:49):
Jamaine Sterling does not stay down and gets he.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Dropped his seal dog.
Speaker 5 (25:55):
He didn't go out of his man.
Speaker 1 (26:00):
Oh yeah what I'm out, I'm out. I am He
can hit me in my stomach, it.
Speaker 2 (26:11):
Can hit me. It can be a low blowing all
if you losing the right only like like it seems
as though what happens when they losing, Like sometimes when
the fight is super close, they'll keep fighting, but when
they losing, it's it's it's like the guy kind of
thinks about it. I remember I watching Diego Sanchez do
(26:32):
that one time. What you got said do y'all? When
Diego Sanchez did that, and he was like he was like.
Speaker 1 (26:43):
He was counting, he was counting. I'm not putting my
laid down in the same category with I can't.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
Put nothing category even bring him up them.
Speaker 1 (26:54):
That's one thing.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Okay, I can take all the people talking about it
laid out, but if they say that the same thing.
Speaker 2 (26:59):
As the.
Speaker 1 (27:01):
I am getting up, I take you to.
Speaker 5 (27:08):
Hey, Jamel, you're calling it gonna be like Diego diego.
Speaker 2 (27:13):
Crazy, y'all gotta stop, man, y'all gotta stop. I just remember,
I remember he was like he was like kind of
legweight one two. I was digging this dub. But but
it's the difference. But there is no difference. I think
I think it's a case by case basis, obviously, and
I think that in al Jamae Sterling's case, he made
the right call because ultimately he went on to defend
(27:34):
that belt three times. Because you know, he defended that
belt three times, so and because of that, he was
the champion on three different pay per views. Because of that,
he got to collect on the Ford pay per view
against Sean O'Malley. But I think that in the branded
situation he had to wear with all to go. You
know what, man, dude, it was going bad, Like it
was going bad for him. He was on he was
(27:55):
he was on the ground just getting beat up because
he kept getting taken down and it was like it
was one of those situations where I don't know if
it was gonna get better for him. And he made
a choice to kind of like fight live to fight
another day is essentially what he did.
Speaker 3 (28:10):
He was out of that. He'd lost that fight so.
Speaker 2 (28:13):
Well, I mean, is he really? I mean, Tony's lost
six in a row.
Speaker 3 (28:19):
No one knows, bro. He was the three es out, Bro.
Speaker 2 (28:24):
I think.
Speaker 1 (28:26):
He lost that fight.
Speaker 7 (28:26):
He went back in the championship like, I don't think
they've run that fight back, no.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Bro, Because Anthony Smith, Anthony Smith would have fought John
Jones again as the champion. Yes, John Jones when he
stayed down there. Dana was like, he's a beast. He
kept fighting and didn't lay down. But it's not like
the organization look back at that fight and goes, we
gotta run these dudes back because he took in the
legal blow.
Speaker 7 (28:48):
And that's what I think Terry was saying by saying,
if he stays in that fight and loses, he don't
goes back into another title fight he just lost, they
will move off from al Joe.
Speaker 4 (28:57):
You know what I means truly truly affect him though,
like some of it truly affect them. So sometimes you
can't continue man in it, and if you do continue,
you don't even get a point deducted half the time.
Speaker 5 (29:08):
Bro, that's I'll watch that.
Speaker 4 (29:11):
So you lose a lot of yourself for the illegal blow,
but they don't get punished for it.
Speaker 3 (29:15):
So yeah, at least one or two points, like they said,
take two points something that's gonna actually affect the floor
if it's an illegal shot.
Speaker 6 (29:23):
I'm just thinking about this, bro, when I watch that
Anthony Smith and John Jones fight and he's standing on
on on.
Speaker 5 (29:30):
The cage holding up himself up in.
Speaker 6 (29:32):
Between that time, how many times y'all thought that it
ran through his mind that if I just stop right now,
I'm gonna be the champion.
Speaker 2 (29:40):
I gotta be honest. I don't know if Anthony ever
thought that that's what I'm saying. Ever thought I'm gonna
stay down and just become the champ and I and
I don't know if that's like the right thought, the
right thought, or the wrong thought. But I don't think
one time he thought if I don't continue, I'm the champ.
Speaker 5 (29:56):
I don't think dudes think that unless it's looking bad
or on bad for them.
Speaker 3 (30:01):
Bro it was what's going bad for him. But but
I think I think he has that warrior mindset that
what I'm.
Speaker 5 (30:08):
Saying like he was.
Speaker 6 (30:10):
I saw his interview with Kamara Usman. He was talking
about I was giving him work. I was, you know,
he thought he was actually in the fight. He thought
he was doing.
Speaker 3 (30:19):
Work he was.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
I just think I just think he's basing it on.
Speaker 4 (30:23):
He wasn't getting beat big, right, he wouldn't getting dominated.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
So sometimes people would take that and be like, I'm
doing actually, but you no, you're not. You're not. You know,
you're just not doing this bad.
Speaker 2 (30:37):
Get don't gonna get canceled y'all gonna get me.
Speaker 1 (30:40):
Cancled me what I'm gonna lose. I'm taking my title.
Speaker 4 (30:45):
I'm taking it and I will be a Champ for
the rest of my life. They're gonna have UFC Champ
by my name if I get illegal.
Speaker 5 (30:53):
Now you're gonna have that picture in the hallway. How
you gonna posing that?
Speaker 4 (30:57):
I'm gonna be in the club with my belt like
all Joe.
Speaker 2 (31:02):
