Speaker 1 (01:45):
All right, guys, UFC three zero two, just wrap and
Isla Mahatchev is still the UFC light.

Speaker 2 (01:51):
Heaving, I mean lightweight champion of the world.

Speaker 1 (01:54):
You know, coming into this fight, so many expected Islam
Hochev to walk through Dustin and the odds stated that,
and you know, honestly, Dustin spoke of it publicly that
it was disrespectful. He doesn't feel like anyone should be
that big a favorite over him, and honestly showing the
act on tonight that.

Speaker 2 (02:14):
He was right.

Speaker 1 (02:16):
You know, Dustin Pourier was able to defend takedowns consistently.
He was able to survive in the grappling when he
got taken down, and he was able to land things
on the feet when he got up. Now, Markacheff fought
a good fight. Guys, I watch this man for a
really long time. Continue to improve, and right now the

(02:39):
completed version of Islamihachev is the number one.

Speaker 2 (02:44):
Pound bound fighter in the world.

Speaker 1 (02:45):
So much can change because of what we think is
going to happen in the fight. But Dustin Poitier showed
tonight that you cannot just anticipate something. His takedown defences
on point. But at the end of the day, is
Samhachev on two judges scorecards, was up three to one
UH and was on his way to defending his championship

(03:08):
if if if not if he didn't get the submission.
Ultimately he did get the submission, and that is what
the method of victory will be. But those guys fought
a very, very tough, competitive fight. You know, every time
I watch this MAV, I'm always even more impressed with

(03:33):
how he handles really tough situations. There were extended periods
of time where he couldn't get a takedown on Dustin.

Speaker 2 (03:41):
Pourriot, so he outstruck him. You know, say what you want.
He outstruck him.

Speaker 1 (03:47):
People here in the arena were so pro Dustin that
when Dustin landed anything, the reactions were so loud. But
in terms of the numbers, Mahatchev won the six strikes,
Mahachev won the overall strikes, and uh, he did a
good job. You know, he did a really good job.
I as a guy that spent a lot of time

(04:10):
with him, I'm very proud of the fighter that Islam
has become. You know, what's very important to me was
having could be back in his corner for a fight
that proved to be much more difficult than they anticipated
because after the third round, guys, they didn't show it
on the TV. Kabet storms the octagon, gets right in

(04:30):
Islam's face because you stop, Dustin kind of tell them
let's go, let's go, motherfucker, and I was like, let's go.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
He didn say motherfuckers. Then they would have started fighting, but.

Speaker 1 (04:38):
He said let's go, let's go, and Islam was like okay,
and Kabi told him no, when that happens, you need
to take him down. It's too risky to be standing
in front of him. It was awesome because I don't
know who.

Speaker 2 (04:54):
Can relate or relay that message.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
To him more effectively than i'bab Normaga medalf.

Speaker 2 (05:02):
You know.

Speaker 1 (05:04):
He is now defendit the belt three times and said
that he wants to go to one seventy. I'd like
to see him fight a armonts Ruki in first, because
while this is the third title defense, the first one
against a lightweight, and I know that Islam will do
what he needs to do to continue trying to defend
that championship with Dustin Pourrier showed tonight that he can

(05:25):
be challenged in his weight class.

Speaker 2 (05:27):
That it's good to see him. So Islam Markhachev takes
on one.

Speaker 1 (05:30):
Hundred thousand extra dollars for performance fan bonus fight of
the night and he once again defends his championship belt.
So hats off to the champ man. We're all proud
of you. You are representing the team and everybody so
so well. Dustin Poorien, you know we're from the same hometown.

(05:52):
I've known the guy for a real long time, and
today kind of broke my heart. I spoke about not
wanting to hear him talk about retirement because I thought
he might start looking to what's next.

Speaker 2 (06:02):
Well, obviously, in the act. He told Rogan it might.

Speaker 1 (06:05):
Be over for him because he wants to spend time
with his daughter and all these other things. That's the
thing that I didn't, you know, selfishly didn't want him
look into a life where he could spend all that
extra time with his beautiful wife Joe Lee and their
daughter Parker. But if you're gonna go out, that's the
way to go out. Dustin was out there fighting his

(06:28):
ass off man trying to become a world champion. He
had nothing to be ashamed of.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
You know.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
Islam was able to take him down with something he
probably never seen in his life before, and he got
him in the Dars choke, which I can attest to
is one of Islam's best submissions.

Speaker 2 (06:43):
But if Dustin Pouritier is leaving this game, he leaves
us with a ton of memories. Now.

Speaker 1 (06:51):
I don't want to see him go. I don't know
that he should go. I think that what Dustin Pouritier
should do is take the big fights, right. He's such
an attraction now in the world of fighting that he's
got a lot of money to be made, but also
a lot of big fights to be had. He's only
thirty five years old, so he can do this for

(07:13):
a long time. Maybe don't fight his frequently, but continue
to make that walk, because once you're done, you're done it.
You can't come back from it, and that sometimes that's
ups especially for a guy that seemingly has a lot
of years still ahead of him. But I thought tonight
he fought as good in losing as he's fought in

(07:34):
a really long time. And I think that he was
better tonight than he was against Ben was Sandani, and
that's a credit to him.

Speaker 2 (07:40):
And his coaching staff. Thought he fought well. You know, clearly.

Speaker 1 (07:45):
You lose, just some disappointment, but overall, I think Dustin
Broye is gonna be very proud of his performance in
the octagony. But if it's it, congrats DP man, you
did something then he could never have expect.

Speaker 2 (08:00):
Did you to do? Uh? Sean Strickland beat paul A Costa.

Speaker 1 (08:06):
You know that was another fight where it seemed pretty
obvious who was winning. You know, Sean Strickland was on
the gas the whole time, taking a risk, right, he's
number one. Contend they're fighting the number eight or seven
or eight ranked guy in the world.

Speaker 2 (08:20):
Taking a risk, and.

Speaker 1 (08:21):
Then you get to the scorecards and one judge season
fifty to forty five Strickland, one judge season forty nine
to forty six Costa. How can two people that are
supposed to be trained to judge these fights and see
a fight that different. Does not make sense. It should
not happen. We have got to do something about the judging.

(08:41):
I mean, hell, the Pourier fight with Islam seemed like
Islam was winning at least three rounds. One judge had
to fight two to two going into round five Poorier
and Marcachell.

Speaker 2 (08:52):
Other two added three to one Marcachell. But Sean Strickland.

Speaker 1 (08:57):
Continues to prove that he's improving, He's getting better every
single day, and he is a guy you can call
on when you need someone to fight Paulo Costa's game tonight.
But Sean Strickland was the one that set the base
of the fight, set the tone, and got the job done.
Sean Strickland now would seemingly be in line for another

(09:19):
middleweight championship opportunity. I hope that it's him and nobody
else comes in and scoops or steals that championship chance
from him. Kevin Holland broke me out, Ole Shazak's arm
in an arm bar Olex Sayzac complained because he didn't tap.

Speaker 2 (09:38):
That speaks to his toughness, but that fight was over.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
They could not have allowed him to get up, go
back and fight with a broken arm. I love his toughness,
but the right thing was done whenever they stopped to fight.

Speaker 2 (09:51):
You know.

Speaker 1 (09:52):
Uh, Unfortunately, judging tonight was a problem.

Speaker 2 (09:58):
You know, we had bad score cards early. We had
a bad score card.

Speaker 1 (10:04):
In Costa and the two to two Marca Jeff Fourier
was a bad scorecard. You know, we cannot have these
judges making these types of mistakes when people's careers are
on the line. I mean, it felt like it was

(10:26):
very easy to know who won to fight between Almeida
and Copylall. Almeida didn't win that fight, and he should
not have won that fight on anyone scorecard, but somehow
someone managed to score that fight for Almeida. He didn't

(10:47):
win that fight. He never was in that fight. The
only time he was in was in the standing. But
when he kept getting taken down and written control beat on,
he was even taking big shots.

Speaker 2 (11:00):
Can't award him a fight, he just can't.

Speaker 1 (11:03):
You are responsible for these guys, careers and women, you
need to make sure you're doing the job the right way.
Again the Strickland Costa fight, Paulo Costa did not win
four rounds.

Speaker 2 (11:16):
There's no way Paulo Costa won four rounds.

Speaker 1 (11:19):
How do you judge it in that fashion? It's absurd. Mantchev.
I thought it was three to one Mantachev at minimum
going into round five. So for as good as Dustin fought,
it still felt like he was behind the age should
not have been. To the ju judges, gotta do better.
They have to do better. They're gonna be in the

(11:41):
position that is so powerful. UFC three zero two is
a good fight card. We had a lot of decisions
tonight and that's not something that we are used to
on these big cars, but that did happen to us tonight.
But at the end of the night, we had some
fantastic fights. Congratulations all the winners. Congratulations once again to
Dustin fourty on a great career.

Speaker 2 (12:00):
This is it.

Speaker 1 (12:00):
Congratulations to Islama Hochev on once again showing why he's
the number pump pung fighter in the world. New Jersey
was great, the city was awesome. The entire week was fantastic.
I will see you guys from a Gregor versus Chandler.
That's gonna be a massive fight week, and I can
guarantee you that fight card is going to deliver. Until

(12:22):

every one, even especially this week while you guys tuned
into everything. I will never take you watching me for granted.
