(01:07):
Let's go okay, guys. So earlier in the week, we
released a video with all of my best moments for
my checkings. But how about the biggest DC moments me
from calling out Ben Askern with some of the insane

(01:31):
takes that he has to putting out bets, wrestling people,
teaching technique, treat teaching people to speak English. We just
had a hell of a year this year at DC TV.
So let's take a look back at the boy DC's
biggest moments, my most out of pocket moments, because there

(01:52):
are times where I look back myself and I go,
what in the world was I thinking?

Speaker 1 (01:56):
But let's see.

Speaker 2 (01:58):
Oh my goodness, it does not look good.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Francis hurt bad, Francis hurt bad.

Speaker 2 (02:05):
Josh is gonna put it up. Oh my god, Oh
my god, Oh my god, Oh my god. You're not
the little kid that I used to know.

Speaker 3 (02:29):
Oh my look at my guy.

Speaker 1 (02:33):
Look at my guy.

Speaker 2 (02:34):
You know, the shoes, everything, my mic you might just
keep falling on.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
With Dad DC. You gotta get you the fanning past.

Speaker 3 (02:43):
I get nervous around you. Get that championship energy. You know,
like last time it was fight.

Speaker 2 (02:48):
Week and we were talking like this. It was cool,
you know, like it was cool, but like I was
beating you and Madden. I wasn't really like trying to
like I wasn't really like trying to like.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
Help your confidence.

Speaker 2 (03:00):
You know you're supposed to really help a dude when
they're on the verge of a championship.

Speaker 3 (03:03):
And I beat the ship out of you.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
I mean, I'm a hell I can help you. Remember
what happened? What?

Speaker 3 (03:07):
Actually?

Speaker 4 (03:07):
I got the footage, bro, you got the I got
the footage.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
I have the footage.

Speaker 4 (03:11):
I have the footage.

Speaker 3 (03:13):
Just know that when my YouTube channel, my video coming
out first, and you know what I'm gonna do.

Speaker 4 (03:18):
You know how I do know your story?

Speaker 3 (03:22):
You always wrong?

Speaker 2 (03:23):
So so what when I was kind of like before
we get started.

Speaker 3 (03:28):
So the injury right everything, it's.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Public knowledge though, all right, guys, they don't have to
do this.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
So Jamal got hurt playing basketball. People don't know is
I did it?

Speaker 2 (03:42):
I crossed, I got I.

Speaker 3 (03:47):
Come.

Speaker 2 (03:47):
I will just tell you all the truth. So what
happened is you know, I just look at you.

Speaker 3 (03:56):
At first. I was scared of me. I was scared
for you to find out what happened. What happened was
I did it?

Speaker 2 (04:01):
I hit him with the y'all remember when AI hit
Michael Jordan it was flip.

Speaker 3 (04:06):
It was the young.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Dude, you stop comparing yourself to Mike.

Speaker 3 (04:12):
It was the young guy. Stop.

Speaker 2 (04:14):
It was the young dude with AI do it to
the older guy. But with us it was the older
guy did it to the young guy. I crossed hm
all he fell, and all of a sudden I saw the.

Speaker 4 (04:22):
Pick that he would be. He would have been the
injured one. He would have been the injured I was
giving y'all work, y'all got lucky. I had about what
twenty points in like five minutes on y'all.

Speaker 2 (04:32):
He kind of played, well, yeah, you little wider right,
because Phil is a ball Phil is the biggest ball
hog ever in a basketball game.

Speaker 3 (04:41):
Phil the ball. But he still had all your points
off of free throws.

Speaker 5 (04:45):
How we played the pickup game, and you gotta always
puts off free throws.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Come on, man, you paid.

Speaker 4 (04:50):
The rest, You paid the rest, Come on, come on, man,
you can tell me it.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Was a long time ago.

Speaker 4 (04:55):
I don't.

Speaker 3 (04:55):
Yeah, I might have paid the rest.

Speaker 2 (04:58):
Brother, Yeah, bro, he sniffed him out immediately. I was like, Oh,
this guy right here will cheat for me. Let me
give him twenty bucks.

Speaker 3 (05:13):
I did.

Speaker 5 (05:14):
I did everything I could. I told Josh, I was like, bro,
don't let DC get along with the rest. Bro, don't
let him do anything. It's never never, it's never, it's never,
it's never. Every opportunity, every opportunity. They always try to
watch me because.

Speaker 4 (05:26):
They know I got every opportunity.

Speaker 2 (05:28):
Anyhow, Jamal Hill, thanks for checking it with my brother.

Speaker 3 (05:31):
I appreciate it.

Speaker 2 (05:35):
First off, I have no problem with Nate Dias. I
have no issue with him. I don't I don't really
know Nate. I've always respected Nate for what he did.
It's like the Octagon so and so. I'm a lot
of things, guys, but one thing I'm not is nobody bitch.
I'm not a bitch. So my question is this, when

(05:56):
did it become okay for men to start calling each
other out they name like that. When did that become okay?
You know, I don't disrespect nobody in my assessments of them.
I try my best to be as fair as I can.

(06:20):
I don't quite understand, as I got a slide to
the right, why people think it's okay to attack you,
attack you in that way, especially calling you outside your
name like that. It's not cool. Man. You don't get
to just talk to people any way you want. But
also just being in a disrespectful manner. It's not cool.

(06:45):
It seems reckless that so many can be so disrespectful
in the approach. I don't get that. I really don't
get that. But I'm nobody's bitch. And to say I'm
not a fighter, it's just I don't get it, man,

(07:05):
I don't get it, because again, I feel like I
was actually pretty fair to this dude, because when you
really think about it, to say I'm not a fighter,
when you really think about it, Nate Diez was fun.
N Diez got to a championship opportunity. But if I'm

(07:30):
not a fighter, whatd that make him? What does that
make him? If I did what I did and then
he did what he did, what'd that make him? You know?
One time I was talking to Habib, and it was
when Nate was coming at Habib, and Nate said, Habib

(07:52):
said something to the effect of this man has lost
twelve or thirteen fights in his career. He's like, Daniel,
I can't respond to this guy. I can't take this
guy serious because who loses to that many people? How
can you call me not a fighter when you have
had those instances? What did I do? I thought, the best.

(08:14):
I fought the best in the world constantly, so to
say I'm not a fighter because I'm making it because
I have an opinion on whether or not I want
to see him headline the sphere. The Spear is going
to be one of the greatest pay per view experiences
that we've had in the UFC. Nay Diaz on Mexican

(08:35):
Independence Day would fit the card beautifully. The main event
would have to be against econor McGregor maybe, hey, maybe
George Marsvedal. I don't want to fight in ads, but
George Masivedal does. Why is he attacking me When George
Marzadal at his gym he in stocked it. That's what

(09:01):
the energy should be directed. That dude wants to fight you,
not me. I'm over here making YouTube videos about what
I think will be a great card, while still actually
saying I would appreciate seeing you on the car, when
in reality, when you look at what you've done recently,
I don't know if many people that may not possess

(09:23):
your star power even get an opportunity to be on
that car. I don't even know if they get a chance.
But because of your star quality, because of your popularity.
If you were back in the UFC, you would get
that opportunity. I'm saying I would check it and tap
into it. I don't see how that is disrespectful. But

(09:46):
the reality is the one thing we will not do
is compare myself to any ideas because it's different levels,
much different. I'm a champion two weight classes. I lost
three times in my career four if he count to fight,
that was called in no contests four times. The two
guys we are on much different wavelengths, we are on

(10:08):
much different planets. We're not in the same stratosphere in
terms of fighters. We're not. And it's time for me
to stop allowing people to attack or come at me
in these ways when I'm doing my job. But can
I still get into the stuff that I was doing
back in the day. No, I can't be fighting in clubs.
I don't go to clubs. I can't be approaching people.

(10:30):
I don't do that. But I'm not a bitch. I'm
not gonna disrespect nobody, and I'm not gonna sit up
here and just get disrespectfuy disrespected by these dudes, because
that's not right. It's not right, and not even just
to me to a man. You don't call a man

(10:51):
out his name. You don't do that, at least not
where I'm from. I don't get it. I don't get it.
Like I said in the beginning, I don't have a
problem with they DIDs. I don't. He clearly has a
problem with me. Gil Roy is an hour and a
half away from Stockton. I live here. I'm not trying

(11:14):
to fight. I'm not gonna be up the fight with
this man in the streets. But we can always just
have a conversation if you have a problem with something
I said. But to call me out my name like that,
to say the boy ain't did what the boy did?
I mean, Louise gonna pull up a whole bunch of
videos and run a highlight ruler what I did in
my career and in those pictures gonna be a lot

(11:37):
of belts and a lot of championships. I fought the best.
I very rarely had opportunities to fight guys that weren't
on my level. I can only imagine what my record
would be if I did. If I wasn't fighting big
Foot Silver in my eighth fight, or Josh Bournett my
ninth fight. Think about that nine fights into my career,

(12:00):
less than three years after starting, I'm fighting Josh Bournette.
So to wrap it up, Nate, here's the deal. I
ain't got a problem with you when I see and
I'm gonna tip my hat off to you. If you
want to say something to me, come up to me,
tell me, tell me what the issue is. We can
discuss it like men. What's up, guys. Welcome to a

(12:20):
brand new episode of Funky in the Champ. I'm Daniel Cormier.
That is my man, Funky Ben as friend Ben, I dude,
when you sat down the size of yours sl I mean,
I mean you look fantastic. I see you at the tournaments.
I saw you sitting on the wrestle them at the

(12:40):
other day. I was like, Ben looks better than he
did whenever we were in the Olympic Games. Well, and
I mean, I don't know about all that. I'm serious.
I'm telling you about the guy that scene that saw you.

Speaker 1 (12:51):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (12:52):
Well, I'm trying to stay lean. But I stopped being
dessert eighteen months ago. That was really helpful, It really was.
I love Dessert. I thought I was going to miss it,
and I don't really miss it. At all.

Speaker 4 (13:03):
What do you mean?

Speaker 2 (13:05):
Like, what were you eating for you dessert every every day?

Speaker 6 (13:08):
I screamed, whatever, I don't eat dessert every day, the
anual something you don't need him anymore? No, I just
thought one day I just stopped.

Speaker 2 (13:19):
It's kind of isn't that weird? Like how how strong
your mind is Whenever you think you like, really enjoy
something and you just go, I don't want to do
it anymore, then you can kind of stop it.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
I kind of got that obsessed with personal well, and
I'll tell you for me. So the first time I retired,
I meant it. I really did mean it. And the
second time I retired, I have a hip surgery. So
I literally had no choice, like I couldn't do anything.
But it was like, dude, I've been making weight for
you know, so twenty seventeen. I probably been making wait
seriously for like twenty years, like twenty years of making

(13:53):
weight on almost you know, year round basis, I'm not
gonna look at a scale. I didn't look at a
scale for ten month. I didn't look at it. I
didn't care. So finally, and this is before I got
traded DFC. But I'm like, okay, I gotta do something
so I'm not super fat the rest of my life.
So I got on a scale and I was like
two ten, and I'm like, I'm gonna.

Speaker 2 (14:13):
Wrestle at Midlands.

Speaker 6 (14:14):
So I had to make weight, right, this is the
only way us as the wrestlers know how. So I
got to make weight. And then the second time I retired,
I did the same thing. I just ate whenever I
wanted because I didn't want to worry about it. And
then at some point it was like, okay, all right,
now I'm really really really done, Like there's no way
I'm doing anything else. So then it's like, well, I
got to make a choice here. Either I'm gonna be
able to keep wrestling my athletes or I'm not, you know,

(14:37):
So I decided to get serious about it.

Speaker 2 (14:39):
Well it's working, my guy. You look fantastic, you know. Yeah, Isla,
I'm hustling you online.

Speaker 6 (14:46):
Actually, so you you maybe you could do the same
that you can quit dessert too, No, yeah, you do it.

Speaker 2 (14:54):
Now. I've literally I've literally done way too much. Like
I started like act like really cutting.

Speaker 3 (15:00):
Wait.

Speaker 2 (15:01):
I made the World team in Cadets, and then after
that it was always like making world teams. It's like
then you were cutting like super big weight and I'm like,
I don't really want to do that anymore. I'm good,
Maybe just a little better and go work out, but nah,
I'm not gonna be uncomfortable anymore. Like fuck that, that's
just those days are over. I just wanted to tell

(15:26):
you though, man, Honestly, like the reason I don't want
you to retire is because it's selfish. I'm a fan, man,
I don't we it'd be hard for us as fans
of the UFC to not have you walk into the
octagon a couple of times a year.

Speaker 6 (15:38):
Bro.

Speaker 1 (15:38):
We appreciate you and your work, and Doug.

Speaker 3 (15:40):
I'm a fan man.

Speaker 2 (15:42):

day walking into that little bullshit Jimmy your head, man,
you know you to beat me.

Speaker 3 (15:47):

down Dustin.

Speaker 2 (15:52):

Speaker 3 (15:55):

you taking me down.

Speaker 7 (15:58):

I'm talking about the offense.

hilarious and he grabbed the stolen he wore.

Speaker 2 (20:20):
No, I don't know, like I was laughing. Tell me
you weren't laughing at that. I was, But I was like, yeah,
well it was because it was it was because it
was the jack, it was the red jacket. It was
a it was adiculous.

Speaker 6 (20:33):
It was a ridiculous jacket.

Speaker 2 (20:35):
You thought that Michael Jackson looking jacket was ridiculous? I thought, yes,
I thought that. I thought it was one of the
most stylish things I've seen a person wear with no shirt.
O'madley was wearing that no shirt for you? Too long?
Bro Huh?

Speaker 6 (20:49):
What California too long? Don't forget your roots. You're from
the Louisiana and then Oklahoma. That shit don't fly around
here in the Midwest.

Speaker 2 (20:58):
Wait, the Jackson, the jacket, don't find him? It was
Could you imagine Sugar Show showing up in there with
a jacket like that, with no tattoos and no shirt?
Could you imagine he walks in Wisconsin like that? Could you?
Mad Well?

Speaker 6 (21:11):
It's it's good for him that he can fight as
well as he can, because if he couldn't, he'd be
getting bullied all the time. I just told myself, Hey,
I had a great father son talked this morning and
because you know, my son's six now, and he got
he got his Some kids are harassed him yesterday and
he tackled one of them and they're like in the
picture line for school for the year.

Speaker 2 (21:32):
So what happened?

Speaker 6 (21:33):
And my wife, I talk to him. Now, I didn't
really get in trouble. So but so I said, you.

Speaker 2 (21:38):
Know that doesn't happen here right in the Midwest. The
teacher will go, Okay, your kid doesn't look my son
did one Superman punch.

Speaker 5 (21:49):
One.

Speaker 2 (21:51):
My son does one Superman punch. Bro he wants to
be Roman raids. The kid was bullying him. He does
one Superman punch and I get a call talking about
we understand how he grew He's growing up in a
tough household. I'm like, what household's not tough? I have
the salt. I'm the softest part.

Speaker 4 (22:11):
In the world.

Speaker 3 (22:12):
But he was.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
He got in trouble. It wasn't like he got in trouble.

Speaker 6 (22:16):
Well I did, so I did. Tell here's I'll give
you a talk. I told my son that. I said,
you know, if you're gonna grow up and you're gonna
be a man, men kind of pick on each other
a little bit. You know, if your friend Daniel Cormier
maybe more than others. But I said, in order to
defend yourself, you have to be able to verbally assault
them back or physically assault them back. Now, the problem
is you philically assault them in school you're probably getting trouble,

(22:38):
so maybe you gotta wait till after school.

Speaker 2 (22:40):
You're wrestling with that. What you are saying this to
your six year old son, You're going to create a bully.

Speaker 6 (22:48):
No not I said you can't bully them. But if
somebody's bullying you, do you know this? You're being funny
because you know this for sure. There's only two ways
to stop someone from picking on you. You gotta fight
I with fire, So you either verbally assault them or
physically assault them, and then they know that there's a
much easier targets. Don't pick on that dude, Yeah yeah,

(23:09):
And then I mean the other thing obviously, And this
is one of the ones that fighters should probably use
more often because of who fighters are.

Speaker 2 (23:16):
But if it's someone.

Speaker 6 (23:18):
Below you, you cannot only just ignore them, right, you
can just I'm not going to respond to you.

Speaker 2 (23:23):
You're not worth my time.

Speaker 6 (23:24):
But as you know, as like an elementary school in
middle school, that tactic doesn't really work all that much.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Non They pickle in middle school or in elementary school.
I had it badly these guys. Oh my god, I
hadn't so bad. I don't know. I was a little
dirty kid. I had no new clue. Dirty. It's a
little dirty boy, you know, like because of my skin color,
Like if dirt gets on my face, it looks like
it smears. I was always sweating. Bro. I played at

(23:52):
recess until like eighth grade. I'm in eighth grade, running
on the ground, playing like basketball. Everybody what it's supposed
to do when you're a kid. Kids kids started, Dude,
my middle school, they took us off the playground. They
put us in front of the school with no toys,
just sit on the grass. They wanted to encourage you

(24:12):
that when you got to high school, there were no
more toys to play with at recess. So, Bro, everybody
just sat on the grass. Everybody just sat on the grass.
Nobody was bro, I swear to God. In my middle school,
they took us off the playground where the basketball who
were in the monkey bars. They put us in front

(24:33):
of the school where it was a big old grass
pasture with a whole bunch of chairs. So at lunch
you sat down and you talked to get ready for
high school.

Speaker 6 (24:43):
So high school there's no recess, but in middle school, like,
dudes are still you are still in sports in high school,
but you know you go play football at recess or
you know, baseball at recess.

Speaker 2 (24:53):
Whatever. We couldn't do nothing. We didn't do that. We
literally just sat there and talked. It was crazy. But yes,
fighters are sensitive. That is one thing that is absolutely true.

Speaker 6 (25:03):
I don't know what do you think about my parents advice?

Speaker 2 (25:06):
Daniel? How do you? How do you rate it? One day,
so so.

Speaker 6 (25:12):
My wife doesn't watch the show, so work, I had
to work on his cross. I said, you got him
with the knuckles, you know, because when they throw a
bunch of something.

Speaker 2 (25:22):
Does your wife watched this?

Speaker 6 (25:25):
I said, listen, I said, don't do it in school.
But sometimes you just got sticking one because I remember,
I said, you know, I got picked I think I
think everyone got picked on, but I got picked on.
But I remember one time I just threw the headlocked
this can I squeeze so freaking hard and people stop
picking on me because they didn't want get headlocked.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
You know, that is how that is how I stopped
getting bullied. I beat up a really tough guy. It
was over. I got double leg was I double leg on?
He was like what you know what they said to me?
No wrestling, no wrestling. They're like, no wrestling I was like,
the hell with that. You need to learn to wrestle
if you don't want to get your ass taken down

(26:04):
and beat them. I can't a moneymager. I was scratching you,
I was pludging you. I don't encourage I don't encourage
my kids to fight.

Speaker 6 (26:14):
No, we need to.

Speaker 2 (26:16):
We need to bring fighting back. I love your parenting advice.
I don't know that in California, I would encourage my
son to wait till after school to fight with the kid.
It just doesn't work like that here.

Speaker 6 (26:33):
I've been inviting you to leave the state of California.

Speaker 3 (26:36):
I know you have.

Speaker 1 (26:38):
Man.

Speaker 2 (26:38):
The weather is beautiful in the place. It's just beautiful.
I love I love California, man. I know, Hey, maybe
you don't get to beat people up on the street
as much as you do in Wisconsin. I'll trade it.
I'll trade It'll be a good trade off for me.
I'll reserve myself from beating kids at wrestling tournaments. I'll
reserve myself for my children beating people up at cool

(27:00):
to just live in California, I'm sorry, man, that's just me.
It's my choice. I get to do that, all right. Ben.
Let's go before you go before you go, oh, we're listen.

Speaker 6 (27:10):
See what we came out here talking about MMA and
now we're we're giving parenting advice and it's been awesome.

Speaker 2 (27:15):
This was one of my favorite shows so far because
now help people know who you are. That now those
comments with whether or not Ben was right or I
was right, because he was bullying me in that group
of people.

Speaker 1 (27:28):
You know who was wrong?

Speaker 2 (27:30):
This guy. I don't bully people. I don't bully people.
You bullied me in that group message.

Speaker 6 (27:35):
And we're supposed to say, you know, the reason we
became friends, why like a long now this has been
what's say, let's say sixteen years, he doesn't Probably is
because I didn't let you bully me. You you go wrong,
bullied everyone else, and everyone else was kind of back
to you, and I said to you, yeah, and I said, listen,
you got a verbally assault them back, and I would

(27:57):
give it to you.

Speaker 2 (27:58):
I had to trade the center. You constantly picked on me.
You had no respect, God had no respect. You had
no respect for the fact that I was the senior
member of the team. You disrespected me from day one.
You dis I was the only one who went to
roll over for you. Yeah, it was it was.

Speaker 6 (28:16):
You know the other one you mad. We actually have
to we should do a shout out on the show
that want you to do this, because the only other
one you didn't mess with, and I think it was
likely because you were scared of them, was Steve Maco.

Speaker 2 (28:28):
His son just wanted seventeen. Can you believe that the
son won the world. Oh my god, what I wouldn't
do for my son to win the world. Superstar Mexican
fighters as Canelos fighting this week and also but you
have done it now two years in a row. Last year,
I gotta be honest with you, it was one of

(28:48):
my favorite nights in the year because the music was
fucking great.

Speaker 8 (28:51):
I had your coming.

Speaker 2 (28:54):
It was awesome, like the whole time. The music was great,
the energy was great. What does it mean to you
to headline this car.

Speaker 8 (29:02):
Well, it means a lot of Last year was like
kind of the test they wanted to sell do to
see how the work, you know, and also the part
of the people. You know, Mexican people didn't amazing passionate.
They're so passionate. They love, you know, their athletes, They're like,
you know, they're so so nice. They pray for us.
You know, we do a lot of things that stand
a lot of big, nice energy. And also the fighters

(29:23):
you can notice that, you know. Even Dana said, like
the Mexican herd, they are always going forward, doesn't you
know what? They are always chasing, chasing, trying to kill
europe on and we're not pointing this cars and we're
not no.

Speaker 3 (29:34):
We're you know there.

Speaker 8 (29:34):
I wrote a guill in this. This is I think
it's important, you know, for combat sports, because I mean,
excuse who does not like to wasn't know a big
bar and I think that's that's great.

Speaker 2 (29:47):
The crowd was crazy, the music was just so. It
felt like I had a couple of Kingsgaros in my
life and I had a Kings in Europe. I have
a gym right in Gilroy for you, which is heavy
Hispanic community and best Mexican food outside of I had
a place one time in Mexico that was really good.
But I take up my wrestling match, built a dance

(30:11):
floor and had a little girl's keeps in Europe.

Speaker 3 (30:14):
Best time ever. She's one of the wrestlers on my team.
Had her keyser at min you had keys.

Speaker 8 (30:19):
In no idea it I didn't have but why, uh
my my didn't my parents didn't have money at that moment.
I mean it was like you have to spend like
it's a wedding kind of yeah, like a big draft,
big party.

Speaker 3 (30:34):
I mean we were not able to let's do you
got money?

Speaker 2 (30:37):
Now? Let's do you why.

Speaker 1 (30:42):
You know it's over.

Speaker 3 (30:45):
But it was like it was like the funniest night.

Speaker 2 (30:47):
It was so awesome.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
I've been there before, Kazakhstan. I wrestled there. That's a
great country. But I got first place, killed everybody. When
when was it two thousand and five? Because beat everybody?
First place? He said what at the time?

Speaker 3 (31:14):

Speaker 1 (31:18):

ship with me, he's dead.

Speaker 1 (31:41):
Take down. You don't ever try this because then you're dead.

Speaker 3 (31:47):
You know the guy you no.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
