Daniel Cormier gives you his INSTANT REACTION live from the octagon to UFC 316 in Newark, New Jersey after an incredible night of fights. Merab Dvalishvili capped the night with a submission victory over "Suga" Sean O'Malley in the main event. DC says Dvalishvili beat the best version of O'Malley, who looked significantly better than in their first fight at The Sphere. Kayla Harrison submitted Julianna Peña in the co-main event to become a UFC champion, and immediately following her win she called out women's UFC GOAT Amanda Nunes and the two faced off in the octagon! Cormier breaks down the Nunes vs. Harrison fight and why that is one of THE BIGGEST WOMEN'S FIGHTS in the history of the UFC. DC also talks Kevin Holland's impressive victory, Patchy Mix's disappointing debut, and his fighter of the night award. #Volume #Herd

Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume. Guys, you have se three sixteen just wrapped
from Newark, New Jersey, and what a night it was.
This post fight video is brought to you by Total Wireless,
the official wireless provider of UFC. They're in your corner

(00:21):
with unlimited five G data that will not slow you down.
UFC three sixteen just wrapped. I got my results page
right in front of me. Got that for you guys.
You know, uh, it was a big night from Newark.
It was busy, great fights who had some great performances.

(00:41):
But ultimately, once again, when there is a vandamweight title fight,
Morob d Wallace Willie is involved in it, there's a
real opportunity or a real option or chance that he
will be the story.

Speaker 2 (00:56):
And once again Morob is the story.

Speaker 1 (00:59):
It was paced, it was pressure, and it was his
dominance of Sean O'Malley that once again establishes him as
the dominant force in the UFC's bandweight division.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
The most telling.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Thing about this fight, and the most important thing about
this fight, is that Sean O'Malley was better prepared. Sean
O'Malley was ready for Morob Duwallas Willie. Shan Omriley had
better takedown the fence. Sean O'Malley did a better job
moving his feet not getting trapped. Sean O'Malley looked better,

(01:32):
but unfortunate for him, Marob was better.

Speaker 2 (01:35):
Mrob was better in.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
The striking as Miles walks behind me and just gets
in my shot every single video.

Speaker 2 (01:41):
Look at this guy.

Speaker 1 (01:42):
He's a reoccurring character in these post fight videos. But
Marab was just better. The second round. Morob had to
stand with him the entirety of that round, and two
of the three judges scored a round for him. He's
gotten that much better. He's so much improved that his
striking now is starting to match what he can do.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
In the wrestling. And we know how good Sean Omalley is.

Speaker 1 (02:03):
There was a point in the second round with Sean
Malley in a big right hand and Morob didn't go down.
And if he can't drop him with those shots, you
knew Sean O'Malley was in for a really long night.

Speaker 2 (02:15):
First round, Morob does what he does.

Speaker 1 (02:17):
Second round, O'Malley defends almost every single takedown that was
thrown in his direction. Third round, Morob changes it up
a little bit, pushes him against the side picks, him
up on his shoulders, just like he did with Henry Sahudo,
slams O'Malley down and then continues to just work him
up and down. There is nothing more exhausting guys then

(02:37):
getting taken down, getting up to your feet and getting
thrown back down to the mat. That is what Morob
did to him over and over again. You know, UFC
three to sixteen was a monster of a fight card.
It was an amazing fight card, and Morob showed again
he's the man.

Speaker 2 (02:56):
You know. He beat the best version of Sean O'Malley.
He beat the.

Speaker 1 (03:02):
Guy that was locked in. He beat the guy that
was not playing the superstar. He beat the guy that
was not here to put on a show, a guy
that came ready to win.

Speaker 2 (03:12):
And Mirob Duallace really really did smash him.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
He dominated him, He controlled him, and you can see
O'Malley starting to will but then for him to finish
him like he did in the third round is what's
most impressive.

Speaker 2 (03:24):
Because we know that Morob is really good.

Speaker 1 (03:26):
What we don't know is that Morob can truly dominate
in the way that he did. John Wood texted me
before the fights and he said, I hope you're not
buying into all this O'Malley hype.

Speaker 2 (03:35):
He's going to get smashed. I swear to god, he
said that to me.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
And I go bro Sean seems ready said he's going
to get smashed.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Those guys don't lie.

Speaker 1 (03:46):
That's exactly what Morob did tonight as he retains his
UFC bandaweight championship, and now he set the fight Corey Sanhagen,
who deserves this title fight more than anyone.

Speaker 2 (03:56):
He is so ready.

Speaker 1 (03:57):
He's done everything he could possibly do in order to
get a title fight. But Morob's actually doing his post
fight interview, and he always does it like he's just
having a conversation. He talks about weed, talks about wanting
the wife, talks about why his cardio wasn't so good
before because he was smoking cigarettes. Morob is a character,
and this place was rocking, and rightfully so for a

(04:18):
fight that really didn't matter. The co main event, Kayla
Harrison put it on Juliana Pagon. I mean, not much
of that fight was competitive, you know, so many expected
Kayla to be the UFC champ at some point. So
many believed that she would hold the championship, and tonight

(04:40):
She showed why there was so much pressure and so
much expectation tied to her. She went out there in
round one, got an early takedown and controlled the first round.
Juliana throws two bottom up kicks from the bottom that
are illegal.

Speaker 2 (04:55):
She gets a point.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Deductor Kashaw Lynn is a former fighter and he is
a really good referee. There was no hard warning. Sharlynn
right away said no point taking.

Speaker 2 (05:04):
Now.

Speaker 1 (05:05):
Juliana's already down two points, ten to eight. First round
without taking any damage. Second round, Kayler gets her down again.
This time she starts to put damage on her. She
gets along the octagon side locks in a kimora. Dude,
Juliana Payne, you heard the clappers. She knew that there
was only ten seconds left. Ten seconds. She could not

(05:28):
stay in that kimora. Generally you put your left leg
over the head to try to get him on their side.
Kayler ripped her onto her side from side control and
got so much pressure on the arm that she made
Juliana Payne tap with five seconds left in the second
round to become the UFC champion. So many times, guys,
we have these fighters, they're coming to the USC and

(05:49):
the expectation is they're going to be special.

Speaker 2 (05:53):
Not many of them can live up to that.

Speaker 1 (05:55):
Kayla Harrison did that, and she did that in unbelievable fashion,
and now she fights Amanda new Nets. It's crazy how
fast we move on from one champion to the new
champion in the next fight.

Speaker 2 (06:08):
But this is the fight.

Speaker 1 (06:10):
This is the greatest fight that we could ever hold
for at one hundred and thirty five pounds for women.

Speaker 2 (06:14):
We went a roundabout way to get here.

Speaker 1 (06:16):
We got Raquel Pennington versus Myra Boyne at Silva, which
wasn't a great fight. We got Raquel Pennington versus Juliana Pana,
which was another close fight. We ultimately get Kayla Harrison
versus Amanda new Nets, and it always feels like.

Speaker 2 (06:33):
We should have been here.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
That is why a man the left American Top Team
because the moment Kaitler walked in there, she recognized this
could be a problem.

Speaker 2 (06:40):
I may have to deal with this woman at some point.

Speaker 1 (06:42):
If she even said it in the octagon, she goes,
we knew this day would come, Kayler. We knew we
would have to fight each other, and she did that.
They now are on the verge of that. It's the
biggest female fight we've had in a long time. This
is the biggest female fight since Chris Cyborg.

Speaker 2 (06:59):
And the Man.

Speaker 1 (06:59):
The New Nets fought the first time that we've had
in the UFC, and I'm here for it.

Speaker 2 (07:06):
Joe piper One wasn't a great performance.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
I think when he goes back and he watches this,
he's gonna be very disappointed in the way that he fought.
Mario Bautista beat Patri Micks. Patrick Mix was very flat
foot and he did not move his head much at all.
Mario Bautista, who has not won eight fights in a row,
and he deserves some respect. People are booing because they
expected Patri to take.

Speaker 2 (07:28):
Him down and submit him.

Speaker 1 (07:29):
It's not Mario Bautista's job to accommodate what the fans
believe or what people bet on if Mario Bautisa's job
is to win, and that's exactly what he did again.
Kevin Holland beat this de Luke by submission. Another dars
choke for Kevin Holland. This dude is nasty at one
hundred and seventy bounds and I truly believe that he

(07:52):
can be a contender.

Speaker 2 (07:53):
He said today.

Speaker 1 (07:55):
To really set his sights on becoming a contender at
one seventy Do believe that Kevin Holland has that ability
to do that. Josh Van stopped Bruno Silva in what
was a masterpiece. It was tremendous to watch him do
what he did tonight at such a young age, twenty
three years old. He's already fought seven times in the UFC.

(08:18):
He's a former FURYFC champion, came into the UFC so young,
did not wrestle, but now he's a full on mixed
martial artist. Ozama Marzakhana beat Renson Herberro in the first
round and now this guy has won all of his
UFC fights.

Speaker 2 (08:33):
He's undefeated for his career.

Speaker 1 (08:35):
Outside of inactivity, he would be one of the most
talked about guys in the UFC.

Speaker 2 (08:39):
His time now for us to discuss Ozamot Murza Khana.
This guy is the real deal. Big win by Walda.

Speaker 1 (08:47):
Costa Acosta, Cortes Acosta, Neil Andres Gustinson beat the absolute
shit out of Cass Williams.

Speaker 2 (08:56):
I mean that was crazy.

Speaker 1 (08:58):
This guy said, I'm a Viking, give me an axe
and tell me where to fight.

Speaker 2 (09:02):
I don't watch film.

Speaker 1 (09:03):
I'm not technical. I just fight tonight. He showed that
he does that very well. Big win by one cong
Yo Ju Sung you. That knockout of Czechisauragi was absolutely crazy,
crazy Quilan Thou kill with a big victory and Marcel
Maderis with a massive victory to start the night. It

(09:25):
was an unbelievable fight call. And I'm so lucky that
I get to do this job and you guys support
me to do this job. But now it's time for
me to pick my Total Wireless Fighter of the Night, so.

Speaker 2 (09:37):
I want to hand out my Fighting Spirit Award.

Speaker 1 (09:40):
We had so many great performances right, so when I
had to choose, it was very difficult. So as I choose,
I'm just putting a tw by everybody's name that I
believe will be in the running. But ultimately you fight
at the highest level. Those are the hardest fights, championship fights.
And the guy that gets my Total Wireless Spirit Award

(10:00):
the usccree sixteen is Mirob Duwallash.

Speaker 2 (10:02):
Willie doesn't get no better.

Speaker 1 (10:05):
You fight the same guy that you beat by decision
the first time and you submit him, you have to
get the award. So for UFC three sixteen, my Total
Wireless Fighting Spirit Award goes to Marob Duwallash Willi and
as always, guys, I appreciate your support.

Speaker 2 (10:21):
I love each and every one of you.

Speaker 1 (10:23):
Thank you everyone that came out to the Total Wireless
appearance yesterday.

Speaker 2 (10:27):
It was packed.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
There were so many people. I could not imagine after
being retired for five years, you guys would show me
this level of love. I appreciate it and I will
never take it for granted. I appreciate your support, like
subscribe to your friends, that DC's got a YouTube channel,
and I'm doing things like this.

Speaker 2 (10:44):
Until next time, I love you guys. Peace,
