Speaker 1 (01:25):
Sweet.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
So, hope you had a great night, Hope you enjoyed
your basketball, got a good game tonight we'll be talking
about it.
Speaker 1 (01:34):
But Rich, I know you wanted to start off with
a goofy question. I did.
Speaker 2 (01:38):
But let me tell you what else is coming up today.
There's so many rumors swirling around Bill Belichick. You know
what we're gonna reserve Is it Covino or Belichick for
tomorrow when we fill in for Dan Patrick's show. Nice,
but we're definitely still talking about Bill Belichick and the
rumors are is this happening or not? Because there's so
(01:59):
many story surrounding her. Will I always feel like he grunts.
I just every time I think.
Speaker 1 (02:05):
Of billbout everything else.
Speaker 2 (02:07):
Yeah, Verry Frankenstein like about that. You know, is he
gonna be coaching or what? Plus Game six at the Garden?
Is this one of the biggest moments at the Garden
in recent history.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Well, I think the answer simple will.
Speaker 2 (02:23):
Get all that atmosphere gonna be like, we'll break it down,
we'll explain. Like I said, we reminisce and we throw
it back on Thursdays. Let's just say it involves animals today,
animals in entertainment. It doesn't involve tutsi rolls. Yeah, I'm
avoiding that news.
Speaker 1 (02:37):
No tutsi rolls.
Speaker 2 (02:38):
In fact, I was gonna eat one today and no past,
no thanks, no more tutsi rolls for this guy, No,
no Diddy. All right, I had a question for you
based on today being the anniversary of something we all
watch as a kid, like a million times. You remember
when you were a kid, somehow, some way, the same
(02:58):
reruns always aired. There was a rerun taping the Doobie Brothers.
Speaker 1 (03:04):
Or I'm sorry, Roch, I didn't know.
Speaker 2 (03:07):
I thought the Brady Bunch, Marcia breaking her nose, or
the Hawaii episode.
Speaker 1 (03:13):
We always saw the same episodes.
Speaker 2 (03:15):
Do you guys remember on Gilligan's Island, somehow, someway the
Harlem Globetrotters.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Found their way onto the island. I do.
Speaker 2 (03:25):
I never saw that one even as a kid, I'm like,
how did this even happen? By the way, the Globe
Trotters from Harlem, by the way, yes, even found their way.
Speaker 1 (03:35):
Onto Scooby Doo. They had a moment. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
Growing up, crossover episodes like that always stood out and
always got extra airplay. By the way, you know why
we did the research on this. I always thought it
was a weird phenomenon, Like, hey, I never watched Seinfeld,
but every time I sit down, it's the same episode.
I think everybody feels that way, right, Like I never
watch X Y or Z, I never watch Friends, but
(03:58):
every time I put.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
It on, it's the same wall. What are the chances
I've seen this King of Queen's episode?
Speaker 3 (04:03):
You know?
Speaker 2 (04:03):
The reason is these are the episodes that tested the highest,
the most popular episodes, the highest rated ones, so they
air them more often, and that's why you tend to
see them. It's not some weird coincidence that only happens
to you. But I've always felt that way, Rich, Like
I really watch Saved by the Bell, but every time
I sit down, there's a stupid duck covered in oil
(04:25):
or something, And I've seen this. Laura, I'm so excited
I've seen this one. So I bring this up because
that very popular Harlem Globe Trotters episode of Gilligan's Islands
first air today in nineteen eighty one. And my dumb
question is we all grew up loving the Harlem Globe Trotters.
I remember seeing them at Nasau Coliseum, like your family
would go.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
Have the Savannah Bananas.
Speaker 2 (04:48):
In twenty twenty five equaled the popularity of the height
of the Harlem Globetrotters. Yet oh, oh, okay, well hold on,
they're selling out stadium. I was gonna say, they just
recently sold out another stadium. It was Fenway for a minute,
right now, it's something else, something in the news recently
about can you believe they sold out something else? What
(05:09):
they've done is insane. Their popularity again, just grew exploded
through social media. It got to the point where you
were seeing these things and you're like, what is going on?
And then now your wife and girlfriend like I love
the Savannah Bananas. Everybody wants to see them. They are
the modern day Globe Trotters, no doubt, are they as popular.
Speaker 1 (05:30):
I don't know about that yet. I'm saying the way when.
Speaker 2 (05:33):
When I see them at Gilligan's Island, then I'll say yes,
when you would see Curtly Neil putting the ball behind
his back or throwing confetti out of a bucket, we
are we glamorizing that. Are the Savannah bananas coming up
to the bat coming up to the plate with a
bat on fire, flipping before catching a fly ball? Are
they doing as much or more than the Globe trotter involvement.
(05:55):
I don't know, but I don't want to downplay how
great the Globe Trotters were either. I never got a
chance to seem, but I did get. Look, we grew
up working in radio, right, and one time I had
like giveaways to see the Harlem Globe Trotters, and I
was like, I gave them to my family and they went.
Speaker 1 (06:12):
I was supposed to give them the listeners or whatever. Yeah, sure, hey.
Speaker 2 (06:14):
Mom and dad you listen. Here you go, Hey you go,
my parents, listen. Take the kids. I had little siblings.
Speaker 1 (06:19):
They all went.
Speaker 2 (06:19):
They still talk about like what an amazing time they
had at the garden. And of course the Globe Trotter
has only lost like one game ever, right to the
generals or.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
Whatever, that's the rumor, right, Like they lost once.
Speaker 2 (06:31):
Yeah, I think they've lost one time, But I don't
want to downplay how big and great they were with
fan involvement and pop culture and how everybody for decades
always debated could they beat or compete with an NBA team.
I don't know if anyone's really saying that about the
Savannah Bananas at this point, but as far as entertainment
(06:52):
and as far as where they are now, they are
easily the modern day Globetrotters more popular now than the
Globetrotters without a doubt. We've we've hung out with the
Globetrotters in recent history in the past five years or
so when we were still doing it. Yeah, when we
were at ESPN, we did a bit with the Harlem
globe Trotters where they taught us how to do some
moves and you could probably find the video if you
(07:12):
search hard enough on social media. But we got to
hang with the modern day current Globetrotters, and it's still
an honor. It is still difficult to make that squad.
They added the first female to the squad in recent history,
so there's still a market for the Globetrotters. But the
Savannah Bananas definitely have taken it next level. I you know,
I gotta asked the question, Danny g I was Sam
(07:33):
Dan Bayer have in your mind have the Savannah Bananas
leapfrog the Harlem Globetrotters as the number one sports show
as far as like a game like a game of
that's a show of sorts, gimmick and no, I.
Speaker 4 (07:47):
Think you'd be have to be a prisoner of the
moment to do it. Yeah is still yeah, yeah worldwide?
Speaker 5 (07:54):
Could the Globetrotters sell out an NFL stadium right now?
Speaker 1 (07:57):
Though? I just like, yeah, I don't want to live
in the moment.
Speaker 2 (08:01):
I know that's the thing we do a lot in
the world of sports, like we'll see someone you know,
have an amazing performance to be like greatest ever. Yeah,
but dB also said something. I'm glad Dan, because I
would have forgot. Honestly, it was on the tip of
my tongue before Worldwide. I think that is the difference.
And I think that the Globetrotters were around in a
time where they were a traveling spectacle and people love
(08:25):
them worldwide pop culture relevance.
Speaker 1 (08:28):
To the point where you said they were on.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Gilligan's Island Scooby Do and Scooby Doo and everybody.
Speaker 1 (08:33):
Hey, everybody tried to spin that ball.
Speaker 2 (08:36):
NBA players try to do that because they saw the
Globe Trotters do it. We all did, and we did
that whistle because the Globe Trotters did so. Like I
said before, I don't want to downplay their importance by
lifting the Savannah Bananas past them, but they are the
current day team and they've got that momentum, no doubt.
Speaker 5 (08:54):
When you guys interviewed them, Rich, did they teach you
how to spin the ball?
Speaker 1 (08:57):
In your big head? They did?
Speaker 2 (08:59):
You know what Convini believe or not, Cavino has a
skill of spinning a basketball. We I just remember hanging
out with the Globe Trotters and thinking like, Yeah, this
is a Globe Trotters.
Speaker 1 (09:09):
It is a big deal. It is a big deal,
and they have legacy.
Speaker 2 (09:12):
And I agree with dB in the sense that I
don't think the Savannah Bananas are worldwide recognizable yet where
the Globetrotters were.
Speaker 1 (09:21):
If you're in.
Speaker 2 (09:22):
America and right now, man, they are killing it, and
good for them. It's a lot of fun, a lot
of fun for the family, and they've done a great
job marketing themselves on social media.
Speaker 1 (09:31):
It's incredible.
Speaker 2 (09:32):
Ask yourself this, if we were doing a contest here
on Fox Sports Radio, or forget that, even the workers here.
Speaker 1 (09:38):
Have you found out?
Speaker 2 (09:39):
You know, we got some tickets to give away. Do
you think the demand on the phone lines and we said, hey,
we're gonna play a game and we're giving away. If
the prize was Globe Trotter tickets at Crypto or the
Savannah the Savannah Bananas are playing at Dodger Stadium, what
do you think would be like? Oh, man, I gotta
go again. It's like comparing an old act versus a
(10:00):
new act. The new act is gonna Wanna is going
to be more popular at the moment. You know who
do you love? Pink Pony Club, that's her name. I
don't love her, but yeah, Chapel Roone, I I don't
love her, but go on. More people would want to
see chap Ron than Madonna. But Madonna is a million
times bigger than.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
Chapol Rone, right, Chapel Roone is just hot right now
though she's hot to go, she's h O TGG. Yeah.
Speaker 2 (10:28):
So yeah, I think they're both incredible and the reason
we're bringing this up. By the way, is today's the
anniversary of that episode? Don't ask me why I sat
on social media, and I just remember sitting in my grandparents'
living room with their big s TV set that was
a piece of furniture, and I feel like I always
saw that episode of the Globetrotters hanging on Gilligan's Island
and the first airing was on this day in nineteen
(10:50):
eighty one, and it got me thinking when we were kids,
the Globetrotters, between that and Scooby Doo, they were very
mainstream popular and I feel like the Savannah Bananas right now,
we're having a moment. And by the way, hold on,
hold up, we all remember a special Saturday Sunday afternoon
special broadcast on the weekends of when the Globetrotters aired.
It was like a big deal, like, oh, the Globetrotters
(11:12):
are on TV. I haven't seen that with the Savannah
Bananas yet.
Speaker 6 (11:16):
Yeah.
Speaker 4 (11:16):
There's also a point in my life, and I don't
want to speak for you guys, but where I thought
the Globetrotters would just destroy the Celtics or Lakers, like
like I thought like they were so I didn't understand
the concept of what they were and who they were.
But there was no way that Magic Johnson or Larry
Bird would be able to I mean.
Speaker 1 (11:34):
In my mind I was like, Magic Johnson, how about
Curly Neil exactly who we interviewed. Honestly, Yeah, for sure, absolutely.
Speaker 2 (11:42):
But they're on their way, rich, They're really on their way,
and they're selling out, like Danny g said, football stadiums now,
which is incredible.
Speaker 1 (11:51):
Now do you think the Savannah bananas.
Speaker 2 (11:52):
And it went from these dudes doing choreography on social
media to now selling out football stadiums the Savannah Bananas level,
would you equate it to solid minor league ball players. Yes,
that could do a backflip on a routine fly ball
and then catch the ball like you see some of
these infielders hold on. They'll hit the ball against the ground,
(12:13):
popping up bare handed like it's a Skilteman acquires a
little more than that. They have to be personable and
a gimmick, and they have to be kind of handsome.
They're they're they're definitely good looking, cool dudes. My girlfriend
let me know about it. He's like, they're kind of hot. Well,
I say, now you're a banana cavinoside his girlfriend sarch
history and it was a Banana's only fance.
Speaker 1 (12:35):
I don't mean to.
Speaker 4 (12:36):
Put you guys on the spot, but I don't know
if you know the answer off hand, like how how
hard do they throw? I mean like it's it can't
be fifty, but I don't expect it to be. Are
they wearing stilts or not wearing skilts?
Speaker 2 (12:49):
I think that that should be part of the question.
You know, Dan, my guess is in the eighties to
ninety I don't think they're these were not This is
not a middle infielder's pitching the ninth inning in a
bullet Yeah, they're throwing some heat, but nobody's.
Speaker 1 (13:02):
Throwing ninety eight.
Speaker 4 (13:03):
You know, nobody's coming in and blowing the doors off
anybody at one o two. I don't think that's happening.
Speaker 1 (13:08):
Hold on, I'm gonna look it up.
Speaker 2 (13:10):
That's chat ChiPT Could you know how fast did the
Savannah Banana's pitch? I'm sure we'll find out how fast
did the Savannah Bananas pitch a baseball?
Speaker 1 (13:21):
Again, this should have been me searching it and saying, guys,
do you.
Speaker 2 (13:24):
Know Savannah Bananas have pitchers that throw in the high
eighties to low nineties typically with some for the hell
of it.
Speaker 1 (13:30):
Are hitting ninety nine.
Speaker 2 (13:33):
I go on, you know, but when they're doing like
let me flip the ball in the air, grabbing and throat,
they're still throwing high eighties the low nineties, which, as
we've talked about when we were kids, that was that
was your That was heat?
Speaker 1 (13:44):
Was that Ai? Was that AI on there saying that?
Speaker 4 (13:47):
Yeah, because AI last week did say a metal band
open for Nate Bargatsi in Green Bay. We had that
with Iowa Sam. But I don't want to say it's
completely trustable, but he'd be careful with those searching. Yes,
I do believe, you know, we should do Rich.
Speaker 1 (13:59):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (13:59):
We have a on this podcast called over Promise. We
should get Jesse Cole, the founder of the Savannah Bananas,
on the show. He has a crazy story because he
put everything into it and he believed in it from
day one, which if you have seen clips of him,
I would love to being.
Speaker 1 (14:14):
I think fans first entertainment, we should get him on Overprops.
Speaker 2 (14:17):
Not a bad idea, buddy boy, all right, but I
figured I just thought with that only because as I'm
going through on notes for Today Show. Of course, there's
plenty of other fun things to get to, but I
just thought Savannah Bananas are doing every day, Danny, you
see some special thing like they sold else.
Speaker 5 (14:29):
Oh, they were in the news this past weekend because
of that backflip catch.
Speaker 1 (14:33):
Yeah, insane. Yeah, it was awesome.
Speaker 2 (14:35):
It's really great. We're happy for him. They're really doing
something cool modern day Globetrotters. Even though the Globe Trotters
still do their thing, they're making baseball fun and exciting
for kids. It does open up a new world and
possibility for kids. And isn't the fun of it If
a ball goes in the stands? Yes, if the fan
catches it, it's an out.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Like they have taken fun.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Liberties, which I think is great. But I have two
last points. You brought up the Globe trot anniversary today.
It's kind of odd that Gilligan's Island was still on
an eighty one because that show started what in the
late sixties, early seventies, So that was this very special
don't make a special one off like a one off
movie episode thing.
Speaker 1 (15:14):
And did it ever dawn on us.
Speaker 2 (15:16):
That they were all trapped there on the island yet
the globetrotters were there and left somehow.
Speaker 1 (15:22):
Did that ever done?
Speaker 5 (15:23):
On it?
Speaker 2 (15:24):
There was always some like odd way how the person
got off and they didn't. Yeah, so stupid, don't know,
so dumb, But anyway, props to the bananas and maybe
we'll get you know my theory be you know my
theory about the professor, right, I mean I think that
he was the he was the first closeted gay man
on television because Mary Anne and Ginger all they talked
(15:46):
about how much they loved the professor and.
Speaker 1 (15:48):
He was still had no interest.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
You just want to fix his coconut radio and had
his pants and shirt were always oppressed nicely.
Speaker 1 (15:56):
Burton Ernie around before that. That's a good point. I
don't know we got figure that out.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
But I always thought the Professor, I'm like, come out, professor,
we'll still love you. But uh yeah, he was extra
handsome and very like put together, put together and Grendon.
Speaker 1 (16:08):
On an island that he looked at handsome cars.
Speaker 2 (16:10):
So that being said, rich, let's get into some real basketball,
some real basketball again.
Speaker 1 (16:17):
I hope you had a Celtics sort of night man.
They're playing with.
Speaker 5 (16:22):
Some heart champion yesterday Hertsham.
Speaker 2 (16:25):
A champion shine Through. Kind of cool to see there's
still a team to be wrecking with. But you know,
I want to I want to bop you in the
nose because I missed my DraftKings pick six because you
were like brunting over Bro and I was and I
was like, I don't know, I think he's gonna have
an off night, and you convinced me. I'm just saying,
big play. Hey, Jimmy Butler didn't step up either, and
(16:46):
I said he would. You know, he was nowhere to
be found. What do you have seventeen points last night?
So we said yesterday and dB sort of backed it up.
Big players like that played big and big games, so
at least you count on them or hope they do.
Speaker 7 (16:59):
Uh.
Speaker 2 (17:00):
That wasn't the case for everybody, but the Celtics reaped
the benefits. Now the Knicks are up three too.
Speaker 1 (17:04):
Now.
Speaker 2 (17:05):
Game six happens at the Mecca Madison Square Garden, Mecca
Lea High, Mcaheiney Hoe on Saturday, Mecha Leka hih Mecca
Heiney Hoe Saturday Night, Madison Square Garden. Cheapest ticket right
now eight hundo, which is understandable. I'm sorry, Friday Night
not Saturday, and Friday Night Tomorrow night, Knicks hosting the sets.
(17:26):
The biggest night at the Garden since gun through Gable
Williams and brought.
Speaker 5 (17:31):
The Ringling Brothers bard since we were up on Saturday
for Saturdays came.
Speaker 2 (17:36):
But since I saw the Ringling Brothers, Barnum and Bailly
circus at the Garden back in eighty nine.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Was it the year they stapled a horn on a
horse and said.
Speaker 2 (17:45):
That since the circus came with the unicorn. Seriously, I
actually thought about it. And the Knicks haven't won an
NBA title since nineteen seventy three, so you will get
a fifty two years. The Rangers won in nineteen ninety four,
and before that is you remember the New York Chant
used to go nineteen forty.
Speaker 1 (18:03):
Yeah.
Speaker 2 (18:04):
So now this is the biggest night at the Garden
since the Dice Man sold it out. This is the
biggest thing Billy Joel ended his residency. The Garden has
been the Garden's been waiting for a game like this.
You know what's wild is growing up. You know we're
from New Jersey, New York, but I parked right there
by the Garden every day when I was working in
Manhattan for fifteen plus years, and you see the Marquis
(18:27):
world's most famous arena, and you really buy into that,
you really believe that.
Speaker 1 (18:32):
In my opinion, it is right.
Speaker 2 (18:33):
If you sell out the Garden, you win at the Garden,
like you've done it, You've done something, and it's about
time something big happens there.
Speaker 1 (18:43):
In the world of sport, in basketball especially, think.
Speaker 2 (18:45):
About it when they talk about the world's most famous arena,
Dan Bayer back in the day that included boxing and
when the Knicks and out of the.
Speaker 1 (18:51):
Teams were better. So would you agree that it's been decades.
Speaker 4 (18:55):
In terms of the status of the arena? Are we
talking about games? Because that was the point that I
wanted to bring up with you guys in terms of
arena always awesome.
Speaker 2 (19:04):
In terms of games being played there, I think it's
been decades since there's a game of this level significant week.
Speaker 4 (19:12):
I mean like like honestly, like the Game three that
they had up to Oh, you guys were talking about
the ticket prices, Yeah, for like how crazy and how
difficult it was to get a ticket. The Knicks lost
at home to the Pacers last year in a Game
seven in the Eastern Conference semifinals.
Speaker 1 (19:29):
That's true, so it's not even a game seven.
Speaker 4 (19:31):
What I do think is interesting and why I would
buy into what you guys are saying is last year
they probably lose to the Celtics in the Eastern Conference finals.
This is knocking off the Celtics with a legitimate chance
of making it to the NBA Faffic Garden.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
And currently, according to DraftKings and bet MGM and everything,
the Oklahoma City City Thunder are odds on favorites. I
think minus one forty to win the NBA title. After
that there's a big drop off and it's plus six
hundred Nicks and te Wolves. So right now Vegas is saying, hey,
OKC wins this whole thing, but out of the Eastern Conference.
(20:07):
As of this moment, the Knicks have a chance to
be that team for the first time since the nineties,
for the first time since they lost to the Rockets
and the the Spurs and when they were you know,
OHJ was doing car chases.
Speaker 1 (20:20):
I thought of two big moments.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
I already mentioned one, but again, Lisanity at the Garden
was wild. That was a hot ticket in New York insanity.
Two weeks of insanity, and it was an electric moment
for anyone in that area, anyone inside the Garden, yep.
And we were at one of them. Carmelo Anthony's debut
was pretty big.
Speaker 1 (20:40):
That was big.
Speaker 2 (20:41):
That was big because you know, Carmel, you thought that
it was going to be, you know, a franchise changing moment,
and we were there and it was electric.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
So that was a big moment.
Speaker 5 (20:51):
How about twenty five years ago when you two, you've
told the story before, how you were at the Garden
for the Diddy bad Boy freak Off concert.
Speaker 1 (20:58):
Stop it, stop it, you stop it? Yeah. Rich was
front Road. Rich was front road. They called him oil boy.
I remember they called.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
Rich.
Speaker 1 (21:10):
Didn't you have to wear a raincoat in the front Road?
Speaker 3 (21:12):
Yo?
Speaker 1 (21:14):
For that? And Gallagher, which was really weird. Geez guys man.
So yeah, if you're gonna.
Speaker 2 (21:21):
Call yourself the world's most famous arena and you really
buy into that hype, you got to start delivering and
bringing some action and excitement aside from concert performances and
comedy shows and hockey. What about what about when you
took your daughter to see Frozen on Ice? Is that
not a no, it doesn't count. Like I said, the
circus doesn't count the Knicks winning Game six at home
(21:46):
in the Garden. Boom puts it right there again. I
love it. I think it's so exciting and honestly, and
Dan Byer said, because we did talk about it last.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
Week, Man, the Garden's gonna be rocking.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
No, this is it. You get the chance to win
at home. You have Timothy Shama, Lama Ding Dong there,
You're gonna have Spike Lee, you gonna have superstars there, cheer.
Speaker 1 (22:04):
In storm in the field. They're gonna be super pumped
about this one.
Speaker 4 (22:07):
I also think in a way it's big because they
aren't playing with a safety net. And I know that
it may seem like a Game seven is a safety net,
but in Game three they didn't really have. If they
lost the game, guess what they have another game four,
you know, two nights later. This is now you've dropped
the two games and the Celtics are maybe finding momentum
without Jason Tatum and going back to Boston. That would
(22:28):
be a difference, Like there's there's something on the line
for New York to lose, which could make Game six
tomorrow that much bigger.
Speaker 2 (22:34):
And two more reasons Dan completely agree but again, defending champions,
you want to knock them off. And they're not just
any defending champions. There then Boston Celtics, the New York
Boston rivalry is deep, and that just adds more fuel
and more fire, more excitement for Game six. So even
if you're the most casual fan, there's so much reason
(22:57):
to watch.
Speaker 1 (22:58):
No doubt.
Speaker 2 (22:59):
Well listen, come up, we'll talk a little more NBA.
But yesterday the schedule release. Now we're gonna go over
a bunch of this on over promised our bonus pod

Speaker 2 (24:34):
The concert live audio from the concert where you were
at the garden. Man, it's the freak off Rage of
twenty twenty five. These stories are getting wild and it's
you know, to the point where ed did he at
Diddy to the list of artists you may never hear again,
like r Kelly was pulled from so many places?
Speaker 7 (24:51):
Did he?
Speaker 1 (24:52):
Yeah? I think he did. I mean, that's what they're saying.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Right now is Cavino and Rich live from the Fox
Sports Radio studio.
Speaker 1 (25:00):
For over forty years, tire Rack.
Speaker 2 (25:02):
Ti Iraq has been helping customers find the right tires
for how, what and where they drive. Ship fast and
free back by the Free Road has a protection with
convenient installation options like mobile tire installation tiraq dot comly
tire buying should be all right now, Rich in less
than twenty minutes, old school in fifty hits. That's why
I love throwing it back on a Thursday and reminiscing.
(25:23):
Start thinking about animals in your favorite movies. It's a
dumb question, but it'll all make sense. Plus, I promise.
Whatever we don't get to today is on over Promise.
Like I know we're talking the NFL schedules, right, but
we're really going to dive into the best ones on
Over Promised. Episode ninety two premieres right after this show
on Fox Sports Radios YouTube page.
Speaker 1 (25:45):
Even talk some boxing. Maybe al right, well, join us live.
I gotta ask.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
Yeah, we're gonna talk about this, like I said, on
Overpromise because it's very visual and that's our video podcast. Yes,
I love it and can you know, can't even fake it.
He's like, yeah, the schedule. I think these videos are great, Danny.
You was showing me the Raiders one. I'm not down
playing the significance of the actual schedule for me to
get excited about these goofy videos. Yeah, that's not happening. Well,
(26:12):
I'll give you a couple that we're gonna highlight on
over Promise. Did you see the Titans did schedule Rizzy
like a goofuff of a drug?
Speaker 1 (26:19):
Add the Chargers?
Speaker 2 (26:21):
The Chargers didn't minecraft the Falcons did Mario Kart?
Speaker 1 (26:25):
I think they're creative.
Speaker 2 (26:26):
Did you see the Giants did a reality show where
they casted people from each city.
Speaker 1 (26:30):
So tuned out like thirty seconds into these things.
Speaker 5 (26:33):
The Raiders had Penn and Teller looking for the chief
hysterious flags.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Yeah, you know, Portnoy was part of the Patriots one.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
So I don't like. I think they're fascinating.
Speaker 2 (26:44):
So you know what, Today on over Promise, we'll go
over the best and worst ones, and of course we'll
talk some fights. So right now, Bill Belichick and Jordan
said they can't seem to stay out of the news.
Oh my goodness, I bet you five minutes there's a
new spin new story. And I got preface this by
saying alleged, right, because Pablo Tory must have some weird
(27:05):
inside scoop because every story that comes out about them
is some Pablo Tory related He's got the scoop on
what's going on. But then it's not true, right, Like
he came out He's like, yeah, I heard she's banned
from UNC and then Bill Belijack's.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
Like, she's not banned from the USA. Not true, not happening.
Speaker 5 (27:25):
But did they all react to his report? Because the
timeline is a little.
Speaker 2 (27:29):
Iffy, right, But every day and every minute of the day,
there's a new story and there's another room around there
that so what I'm saying alleged, but based on the rumor,
I do have an actual question to the Fox Sports
Radio Nation. Let's go over some of the stories that
we're hearing, though, after you watch all the schedule releases,
after I'm gonna make you watch all thirty two of them.
(27:51):
Do I have to five hours? Jordan Hudson competed in
Miss Maine. She came in third, and there was a
lot of speculation that the media has been unfair to
her and that's why she didn't place well, she placed third.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
She placed third by Bill Belichick, he only excepts first place.
He yelled at her.
Speaker 2 (28:11):
But then Jordan Hudson recently had to apologize to her
cheer teammates for the Bill Belichick romance hoopla. Like all
her friends and all the pageant people and all the
cheer people, she's apologizing because it's a big time distraction.
Speaker 1 (28:27):
Sorry, guys, you're not ridiculous that sounds.
Speaker 2 (28:30):
Bill Belichick's girlfriend had to apologize to her cheerleading friends,
Like what, Then.
Speaker 1 (28:35):
It's Bill Belichick went public recently on an.
Speaker 2 (28:38):
Interview She's not going to be involved with anything to
do with UNC because they were questioning her involvement. Then
he had to be out there talking about no, there's
no involvement. Then today I saw another report. Now again
this is this is social media, so you don't know
what to believe. But I am basing a question on
(28:59):
this rumor red Zone Rush via Pablo Tory. Reports from
the University of North Carolina say things have gotten so
messy between Belichick and Jordan Hudson and UNC that there's
an absolutely real chance that Belichick is not the Tar
Heels head coach by week one.
Speaker 1 (29:18):
Now I'm not saying that's true. I want to make
that clear. But what I am saying is based on
all these rumors and based on some of the true
stories that Bill addressed himself. She's not involved, blah blah blah. Right,
do you think there is a slight chance that it
could not happen.
Speaker 2 (29:37):
Here's another reason why I asked that. I saw a
clip of Julian Edelman, Dude, Julian Edelman, former teammate who
learned under the great Bill Belichick, saying that one of
Bill Belichick's biggest rules in the clubhouse, in the fieldhouse,
in the locker room and the organization was no distractions.
(29:59):
Whatever you got go going on, you don't bring it here.
So when you got Bill Belichick breaking his own rules,
I want you to think, is there a risk of
him not making it? Take a listen to Julian Edelman.
Speaker 8 (30:10):
The number one thing we used to talk about all
the time in New England was distractions. Let's not make distractions.
The game's already as hard as it is, regardless of
what her role is, Jordan, Now that it's gained and
it snowball to what it's become. Right now where we're
talking about it three weeks later. It's becoming a distraction.
(30:31):
So that's what I'm sure, that's what we all think
right now. This is becoming a distraction. We gotta practice
what we preach here.
Speaker 2 (30:39):
That's Julian Edelman. You think he wants to call out
his dude. That's from The Herd last week. Julian Edelman
talking about Bill Belichick. That's absurd. You got Dave Portnoy,
who's the biggest Patriots Belichick cheerleader, saying, I don't know,
it's a little awkward. You got Charles Barkley saying I'm
going to reach out to Bill.
Speaker 1 (30:57):
So when you got all these.
Speaker 2 (30:58):
Rumors, and again, not all of them are true, right,
I think Pablo Torre's leaking stuff.
Speaker 1 (31:03):
He's here and stuff. Some of it's not true, some
of it is, but regardless, it is a distraction. No, Rich,
I have some speculation that I've heard no one else say.
It only could have been formed in my Mondo Cabasa.
I mean, you do have a Mondo Cabsa. I've heard
no one say this. So this is an exclusive on
Covin on Rich and Fox Sports Radio. Hang on, let
(31:25):
me tweet out the size of your head right now.
Oh it's giant.
Speaker 2 (31:27):
It's like, you know what I want to say, One
size fits most if you look real close, it says
except for rich Davis. So first of all, there might
coup a point which is not worth it. Bill Belichick
in the past, remember he was gonna be the Jets
coach that never happened. So it's not it wouldn't be
unprecedented for him to accept a job and never coach
a game.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
That's number one.
Speaker 2 (31:47):
I don't want to give away a secret, but I
used to know a guy that would try to make
dinner reservations at hot restaurants and know what, he would say, Hey,
do you ever dinner reservation for let's say Howard Stern
or Dan Patrick, and the restaurant would be like, oh, absolutely,
just six pm work Howard Sterner, d Dan Patrick or
(32:11):
Stephen A's coming. And then right before that day they're
like that reservation is still good, right yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah,
Just so you know, like you know Howard or DP,
they're like fifty to fifty. Now they were never going.
They just wanted that reservation. What if Bill Belichick's like,
I'm gonna.
Speaker 1 (32:30):
Get my son a herd coaching job. Oh, that's a
good one.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
He accepts it, right, and then this all becomes a
major distraction him hooking up with some hot young twenty
something and it's like, it's not worth it at this
step in my career, I'm a distraction. Know who's gonna
take over my son?
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Oh that's a major conspiracy. But Rich. The one thing
I do believe in that story, what if they say
an answer to how do you like that?
Speaker 2 (32:58):
Is anytime something becomes too big of a distraction, right,
you see some guy take this noble approach of you know,
I'm forced to step down now because I'm not going
to be that guy. So if that were to happen,
I do believe your theory of that what would happen now?
But I wouldn't be shocked because Bill Belichick doesn't need it.
It was more of a like, you know, a guy
still wants to coach, but if it becomes a distraction
(33:20):
at this level, maybe the university, which doesn't have a
football program that's legendary, would want this. I don't know,
but remember what I said, Dan Patrick, Howard Stern need
a dinner reservation, dip out last minute? All right, let's
go to dam Patt. Let's go to Damn Patrick. Let's
go to Damn Bayer for an update. What's up, dB, Yeah,
that has been put out there. It's like it wouldn't
(33:43):
like it doesn't.
Speaker 4 (33:44):
It's not from Mars by any means, so there's uh,
definitely thoughts behind it. Speaking of North Carolina, guys, that's
where the PGA Championship is in Charlotte, North Carolina, Quail Hollow.
First round play starting to wind down. Cam Davis of
Australia is your leader at six under par, one shot
better than Ryan Girard, a North Carolina native. He's at
(34:05):
five under after a round of sixty six. Scotti Schffler
too under part today sixty nine, Rory McElroy three over
seventy four and is currently nine shots back of the lead.
Couple of other names on the course you may be
familiar with, Colin Moro Kawa to under par through fifteen,
Ludwig Odberg is two under par through fourteen, while bryceon
De'shamba won over par through thirteen holes in Justin Thomas
(34:27):
plus two through fifteen, Jordan Speed three over par through
fourteen holes, Thunder and Nuggets Game six Tonight eight thirty
Eastern Time Thunder up three to two in the series.
Denver hosts IT this evening host Game six. Braves beat
the Nationals five to two. Twins have won eleven straight.
They blanked the Orioles for nothing, while the Reds were
seven to one winners against the White Sox in the
(34:48):
ninth inning Tampa Bay trying to close out the Jays
in Toronto eight to three. Patriots defensive tackle Christian bar
More has been included to resume football activities after missing
most of twenty twenty four because of blood clotts, and
NFL owners will vote next week on whether to allow
their players to compete in flight football in the twenty
twenty eighth Summer Olympics on the ice. Hurricanes and Capitol's
(35:08):
Game five tonight seven Eastern Stars and Jets and Winnipeg
nine thirty Eastern in their game five.
Speaker 1 (35:13):
Guys, back to you, dB dB. Two things Dan said
during his update that struck me. Number one, twins eleven
in a row. You're thirteen and twenty and you're like, man,
this season sucks. And now you're twenty four and twenty,
Like what a turnaround? And I know Game six is
in Denver. You ever think if the Denver wins OKAC,
winning a game seven and home, but even boost the
(35:33):
morally even more, like just to prove that we we
went seven games.
Speaker 2 (35:37):
I know they're gonna try to win game six, obviously,
but I think a game seven in OKC is such
a great test against Jokic at home. A game seven
as a guy with no horse in the race, that's
what you will to see a game seven, no doubt.
But I don't think the thunder want to take any chances, no.
Speaker 1 (35:51):
Doubt, no doubt.
Speaker 2 (35:51):
Hey, listen, we're gonna go old school in fifty hits
in a few minutes. A hang tight, more Cavino and Rich.
Speaker 1 (35:56):
But your thoughts on this, Bill, Belichicks, I think I
want to hear your thoughts. Let's go more.
Speaker 2 (36:01):
Next, Yeah, Covino and Rich, the world Famous, the Greatest
seeing our show on FSR live from the Fox Sports
Radio Studio. And now, Sam, are you ready, It's time
for our tire IRAQ play of the Day. Last night,
(36:23):
the Timberwolves took care business.
Speaker 7 (36:26):
The Horton Sounds here at target center of The Wolves
have captured to Game five one twenty one to one
ten after closing out the Lakers in five games. The
Wolves do the exact same to the Golden State Warriors,
and for the second straight season, Minnesota is headed to
the Western Conference Finals.
Speaker 2 (36:46):
It seems inevitable the Warriors just going to overcome Steph's injury.
Minnesota advances to the Western Conference Finals courtesy of KFAN
one hundred point three t Wolves Radio Network, and that is.
Speaker 1 (36:57):
Our tireract play of the day.
Speaker 2 (36:59):
For over forty years, Tyrak has been helping customers find
the right tires for how, what and where they drive.
Ship fast and free back by free road hazard protection
with convenient installation options like mobile tire installation, Tyraq dot
comy tire buying should be Now, we got to get
in some old school action. But let's wrap up this
Bill Belichick conversation and these phone calls eight seven seven
(37:22):
ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 1 (37:23):
Let's make it snappy. We got Doug and Maryland.
Speaker 2 (37:26):
Do you think there's a chance of Bill Belichick stepping
down because he is going against his own principles, which
is no distractions.
Speaker 1 (37:34):
He's the biggest distraction.
Speaker 6 (37:36):
No, I don't think he's gonna step down, and I
don't think he should. Guys, I'm not a Patriots fan.
I'm not a North Carolina fan, but I'm gonna tell
you what. I think. Everybody's taking this a little too far.
And trust me. And the very first thing he's gonna
tell is players is don't allow this. You know, I
don't want you guys to be watching all of the
media coverage on this. Don't allow him to be. He'll
(37:59):
let his players know I work Carolina not to allow
it to be a distraction.
Speaker 1 (38:02):
And I don't think that sounds fair to the players.
Speaker 2 (38:05):
I don't they're getting attention they never got in this
program ever.
Speaker 1 (38:09):
That's true.
Speaker 2 (38:09):
And you know what, I'll say this, Doug, And thanks
for the call, man, Sorry to rush your call anytime.
We appreciate it. What takes this all away and throws
it all out the window, all these Jeor Dawn rumors
and all this she's involved, she's not involved, is winning, right?
But if he doesn't win, it all comes back to that,
So more pressure on winning. I don't know, man, I
(38:29):
don't think there's an expectation to win right away. I
mean that that program hasn't done anything any time. They don't,
you know, till it comes back to what Julian Edelman
said right there, he's going against his number one principle,
which is no distractions.
Speaker 1 (38:42):
He's the biggest distraction. So think about it.
Speaker 2 (38:45):
Would you be shocked if it was a one and done. No,
that might be the most logical A one and done
not at all. But you know what we got to
do now, it's time. But when Old School hits fifty,
let's go.
Speaker 1 (38:57):
There's a certain.
Speaker 3 (39:00):
What we're gonna do by his go back back into time,
throwing it back for a Thursday. Old School went fifty.
That's fifty after CNR give you the time capsule topic
and we reminisce together.
Speaker 2 (39:15):
Yeah, so we throw it back every Thursday.
Speaker 1 (39:18):
We get you involved.
Speaker 2 (39:20):
B Dyland eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox, we
lost a big superstar this week, maybe one of the
most famous animal actors of all time, Marris the Alligator.
Speaker 1 (39:33):
Who's that alligator bit my hand?
Speaker 2 (39:35):
Oh my god, the alligator that the bit Chubbs Peterson's handoff.
People thought he was left off the PGA tour because
he was a black man.
Speaker 1 (39:42):
No, damn alligator bit his hand off.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
Damn alligator, damn alligat allegat.
Speaker 1 (39:48):
They were all there in heaven right at the end
of the movie. But now he's who's in that scene?
Speaker 2 (39:54):
See if you remember in the clouds Chubbs Peterson, Yeah,
it was the crocodile, the alligator, the alligator, and it
was Obi wan Kenobi, a former president was blinking right,
Why is he Blincoln up there?
Speaker 6 (40:09):
Right?
Speaker 2 (40:10):
I know it someone weird like that. It wasn't Obi
wan Kenobi and.
Speaker 1 (40:15):
Got his hand back, by the way. Based on that, look, Havy,
what other animal legends do you think of when it
comes to film and TV.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
Animal superstars? I know Rich's number one answer. He doesn't
even know his number one answer. I know Rich's number
one answer without even really Yeah. I feel like our parents,
generations all going to say, like mister Ed, everyone of
parents loved mister Ed, Mister the board parents loved Flipper.
Our parents love Flipper. Mister Dyah. You know what, And Lassie,
(40:46):
you have to trifecta for your mom. Yeah, so we'll
come up with our own list. Next right here, Cavino
and Rich shank Tu damn alligator
