You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All right, here we go.
It is Thursday. This is The Herd.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
Wherever you may be and however you may be listening,
Thanks for making us part of your day. Great show today.
So in one hour, I'm gonna do what I do
once a year. I'm not really in the mock drafts
because it's just signing up to be wrong, like forty times,
but I do right before every NFL draft, I do the.
Speaker 3 (00:49):
Top fifteen picks.
Speaker 1 (00:51):
What would I do if I was the general manager
of the top fifteen teams drafting. I'm not going through
the entire first round, but I went through the top
fifteen one hour from now, Here's who I would draft
based on rosters, need, what you've done in free agency,
this is what I would do. I've always said, if
(01:11):
I didn't do this for a living, my dream job
either a screenwriter or an NFL general manager. So in
one hour, I'll be the general manager. It is great
to have you in. So at the end of yesterday's show,
Jordan Schultz filling in for Jmac This week, in one
of the Herdline stories, had that Time Magazine's list of
the one hundred most influential people in America. They did
(01:35):
not have Caitlin Clark on the list, but they had
two other WNBA players, and they had a bunch of
other athletes. I love Jalen Hurts. I don't think he's
one of the one hundred most influential people. I love him,
and it just struck me. I had so many people
reach out to me on this yesterday. So I just
want you to think of words matter influential. Influential is
(02:01):
the word Time Magazine used. Influential. She played one year
of pro basketball in a small market for the worst
team in the league, and she literally changed the entire
financial makeup of the league.
Speaker 3 (02:15):
That defines influential.
Speaker 1 (02:17):
The WNBA had its most watched season in twenty four years,
its highest attendance in twenty two years, and set records
for digital consumption and merchandise sales last year.
Speaker 3 (02:27):
That is all Caitlin Clark.
Speaker 1 (02:29):
Six WNBA teams have already preemptively for their games with
Caitlin Clark moved to bigger venues. Time Magazine used the
word influential. I didn't they used that word, Well, Colin,
I heard this, Colin. They gave her Athlete of the
(02:51):
Year in America in December, and so there was no
reason to put her on the April list. All right,
So Time Magazine is telling me she went from the
Athlete of the Year in America in December and by
April she's less influential than Breonna Stewart.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Yeah, yeah, I'm not gonna buy that argument.
Speaker 1 (03:17):
You think Hollywood in the nineties said, listen, Tom Hanks.
Speaker 3 (03:20):
Everything he's in is great, he's won.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Back to back Oscars, but you know, let's share the spotlight. Nope,
movie studios were fighting over Tom Hanks. Everybody wanted Tom
Hanks because Hollywood. Hollywood's gotten into trouble in the last
ten years when they've tried to make independent movies where
women fall in love with fish and now nobody goes
to a theater except for Tom Cruise and Christopher Nolan.
Speaker 3 (03:44):
Big avenger movies.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Right, like the Big directors, the big stars, play the hits.
I've been doing this for thirty three years. I've had
a pretty good career TV and radio podcasting. Play the hits.
You think Fox upstairs in Baseball cover goes. You know,
we've done a lot of Aaron Judge, Otawni, Juan Soto.
Anybody checked out the Mariners' schedule lately? Can we squeeze
(04:08):
them in? That's never been a discussion ever here. The
NFL this year literally has a new rule. You no
longer have to put every team on television at least
once because they realized Carolina is not well run.
Speaker 3 (04:26):
That's a Carolina problem.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
Why should I force network CBS, Fox, ABC to put
on bad products? So this idea, and I'll say this,
there have been a lot of great individual female athletes globally,
but in terms of North America and team sports, men
have dominated. And because men have dominated this for so long,
they get it. UFC just put John Jones and Connor
(04:51):
McGregor on every big card.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
It's not about sharing. We'll pay them a fortune.
Speaker 1 (04:55):
The rest of the guys, eh, We'll pay what we
want to. Baseball Fox Coverage, Moro, Tawni and Aaron judge
the NFL. It's funny Lamar Jackson, Patrick Mahomes the Philadelphia Eagles.
You ever notice that they put on television big brands
all the time. The minute the Pittsburgh Steelers are uninteresting,
Boom gone off. Let's put on the Detroit Lions play
(05:19):
the hits. But the WNBA last year blessed their hearts,
finally got a star.
Speaker 3 (05:27):
And they didn't know that they couldn't figure it out.
Speaker 1 (05:29):
Well, we don't want to put too much, too much,
Caitlyn Clark. Gott Nope, every game, every list, every game,
every moment, every contest, every All Star game, every single day,
all Caitlyn Clark, Well, it will offend Who cares? You
didn't make any money in twenty four years? You're subsidized
by the NBA. Who gives a rip? Who are you
(05:49):
offending players that don't make revenue? You're subsidized by the
NBA more, Caitlin Clark all the time. Always hurting feelings.
The reality ESPN in baseball right now, they've hurt each
other's feelings. They'll get over it. If you don't make money,
you're not a league. You can't subsidize people forever in sports,
(06:12):
So Caitlin Clark changed the financial structure of the league.
She's not wasn't my word, it was Time Magazine's word.
They used influential, and now she's not influential. So here's
a rule for anybody considering starting a league. And I
do think the WNBA got so mocked and criticized they
(06:35):
finally figured it out. In sports, don't get caught up
in sharing the spotlight, because occasionally an athlete will be
the spotlight. Don't play nice, play the hits. Caitlin Clark
is easily the most influential athlete in a team sport
(07:02):
since Michael Jordan. Patrick Mahomes is great. The league was
doing fine, Tom Brady retired, the league's doing fine far
Peyton Manning left fine.
Speaker 3 (07:13):
They're great.
Speaker 1 (07:15):
I mean, you could argue Steph Curry is influential because
of the way he changed the way basketball is played.
Speaker 3 (07:20):
Maybe that's the second.
Speaker 1 (07:22):
Most influential person, but I mean, the only athlete in
my lifetime I can think of that compares to Caitlin Clark.
And it's not a team sport, it's golf as Tiger Woods.
Tiger Woods literally got people to a television on Sunday
for a decade. It was Sopranos after Tiger Woods round.
I mean, he changed American viewing habits. So just think
(07:44):
about this. Six WNBA teams have already preemptively moved the
Caitlin Clark games to bigger venues. Time Magazine, you use
the word I didn't you invalidated your list. You made
it inauthentic because you were trying to play nice. Don't
play nice, play the hits.
Speaker 3 (08:02):
Okay.
Speaker 1 (08:04):
So you know I mostly because very busy, living a
very full life.
Speaker 3 (08:11):
I stay off X a lot.
Speaker 1 (08:15):
You know, it's like a conspiracy theory platform. Now, I
kind of stay off it. But apparently I made some news.
I got a call yesterday afternoon from somebody very close
to the Nico iam Aliyava family. So he's the quarterback
at Tennessee, very good, making a lot of money, and
decides I'm not going to show up to a spring practice.
And the story from Tennessee side was he wants a
(08:35):
bunch of money and we're not going to give him
a raise. We're already paying him two and a half million,
we're not.
Speaker 3 (08:39):
Going to four.
Speaker 1 (08:39):
Now his family is saying that's not it. So you know,
you got people at Tennessee saying it's all about the money.
His family say, it's not about the money, it's about
the fit. I don't know if going to UCLA is
better than playing at Tennessee. I think Tennessee's got better players.
It makes one hundred and fifty million dollars a year,
it's a huge program. I'm not sure i'd leave ten
(09:00):
for UCLA football. But he's a California kid, so I
was told in this wild wild West nil era, as
of yesterday, he's going to UCLA. Now his family is
saying it's not about the money. Tennessee's saying, eye roll,
give me a break. So I am surprised by this
because I said, in southern California, it's understood that UCLA
(09:20):
is a basketball school. USC is a football school. They
got a lot more money. It's private, you can pay
people whatever you want and don't have to report it.
And USC jen Cony athletic director and Lincoln Roddie, they
are highly aggressive with football. They are spending a lot
of money on nil. UCLA football, I was told two
years ago spent less than Utah and around what Oregon
State spends. So I thought it was very probable it
(09:43):
would be USC as he transferred. We talked about that
a couple of days ago, but I was told yesterday
by somebody close to his family it's UCLA.
Speaker 3 (09:51):
Now.
Speaker 1 (09:52):
Is it official yet that we're on day two of
a ten day portal opening. It's not official yet, but
I was told Lincoln Ryle he loves a five star
high school football recruit that is in the program. Now,
who's hey in Long Street? He's a very very very
go to YouTube great high school quarterback. Lincoln Riley loves him.
Doesn't want to send any bad messages or bad vibes
(10:14):
that that kid, that freshman will play at least some
this year, and they want to. They think he's going
to be the future of the program. And so UCLA
is like, you know, we're going to roll the dice here.
But I will say this, and I've said this before,
I don't want to hear about how all these young
athletes are impoverished and you always have to take the money.
I do not think money should drive decisions when you're
(10:36):
a great young athlete. I would stay at Duke or
Carolina over go to the G League over one hundred
thousand dollars. I mean, I'm sorry, you play at Duke,
you get thirty million dollars or free marketing. The only
reason I know who Zion Williamson is he played at Duke.
I'm not watching g League or YouTube videos for high
school basketball players, so I don't know.
Speaker 3 (10:55):
If it's a good move.
Speaker 1 (10:56):
But I am told somebody close to the family that
UCLA is the spot. Joel Klatt, who I think we
were both surprised. Joel Klatt talked about this on my
show a couple days ago.
Speaker 4 (11:08):
I could see him back on the West Coast. I
would I would think that he wants to be in
the Big ten. I would think, but I think he
could wind up somewhere else. I think U n C
is interesting North Carolina. That's That's just to just to
keep your eye on that. The LA schools make a
lot of sense now. I have heard that there has
(11:29):
been a huge, quiet influx of U c l A money,
that's all. So I'm not going to be shocked if
he winds up at U c l A.
Speaker 1 (11:42):
I am not tied to UCLA boosters and donors. I
know a few USC boosters and donors, but if Joel
Clatt's hearing it, that validates it for me.
Speaker 3 (11:52):
So I've heard it to U C.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
L A. He's a very talented player. He is absolutely
going to be if he has a good year with
UCLA or Tennessee, He's going to be a first round
second round prospect. Long, tall, good arm. Just needs to
clean it up. But he looks the part, you know.
And I mean when I watched him and I watched
Jackson Dart, and I watched both of them. If you
(12:16):
told me one of them was going to end up
eventually being an NFL star, I would have chosen this kid,
even though his game is not as clean or refined
as Jackson Dart. Today, I did think this was interesting.
This made me laugh yesterday. So you know, in a
full disclosure, Urban Meyer's a friend. But everybody is saying
good for Tennessee for taking a stand. Urban Meyer's like, yeah,
I've coached in the SEC. Forget this stand stuff.
Speaker 5 (12:39):
As a guy that's been involved almost forty years in
this game, I can't believe this happened here. Here's the
reality is Tennessee is screwed there and they got a problem.
You lose a potential high draft pick, you have the
backup quarterback left last year, and now you have a
red shirt freshman after nine passes, and a freshman you
have zero experience, and the hortal opens as we speak.
(13:01):
They're going to have to go get one.
Speaker 3 (13:05):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (13:05):
I kind of get that too. So that's where we
are as of now. Time Magazine, Stop being nice, Stop
worrying about sharing. I mean again, men dominated team sports
in North America. It's not about that. Just just man
play the get the stars up front center, rinse repeat,
(13:28):
Rachel Nichols in studio in an hour from now, in
forty five minutes from now, I'm gonna give you. If
I'm the GM, here's what I do with the top
fifteen picks. I think the Raiders pick is fascinating. I
think the Jets pick is fascinating when you really have
to when I really sat down today with a team
and really wrote down what I thought. I'm the general manager.
(13:52):
I think there's one shocker. There'll be one shocker, but
I would do it if I was GM.
Speaker 6 (13:56):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays
and Newone East the Pacific.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
All right, you are now entering the No Bull Zone
sponsored by Credible Great Rates.
Speaker 3 (14:05):
None of the Bowl. A lot of stuff to talk about.
Speaker 1 (14:07):
Today, forty minutes from now, my top fifteen mock draft
who I would draft if I was the GM of
these teams. So last night, I gotta tell you a funny story.
So moving some of my operations to Chicago over the
next several months, and so I bought some season tickets
for the Bulls and the Blackhawks. And so my wife
(14:28):
last night went to the Miami Heat Chicago Bulls game,
and she goes, Honey, did we buy tickets to a
really bad team. I'm like, yes, Chicago's tanking. It's not
a very good team right now. And so Miami just
blasted him in clowbrative. But as I'm watching the game,
I am thinking to myself, wouldn't this be a great
place for Kevin Durant. I mean, Miami wins a lot.
(14:49):
I know Miami is known, as you know, there's an
old saying, a sunny place for shady people. But the
Heater grown ups. The Dolphins and the Marlins aren't. The
Heat are grown ups. They haven't missed the playoffs in
back to back years for two decades, nine conference finals
in twenty years. They've been in two finals in the
(15:12):
last six years. And I don't think they have that
good of talent and Kevin Durant, he can hide stars hide.
It's an international city, he'll hide. He'll get a major
coaching upgrade. Spolstra from Budenholzer goes to a weaker conference.
And oh, by the way, Bam out of Bayou when
he played in the Olympics. Bam a very long, athletic,
(15:33):
excellent defender, will take will take the tougher defensive assignment.
And I'm just looking at it, and I thinking to myself,
you could talk about the Knicks, but his TIB's gonna
be there, and his TIB's a great fit for KD.
Long practices a lot of minutes. That's not what Spolster's
gonna do. Spolster gets stars, the Heat get stars, Riley
Lakers heat get stars. The Knicks Tibbs almost feels sometimes
(15:57):
collegiate long practices, grinding players and minutes. And then you
could say the Celtics. I just don't see Kadie as
a Boston guy. That's just men, and I don't think
they're gonna make that move. So I kind of have
always felt like the Miami Heat are the Warriors East.
Great coach, great owner, great GM, excellent culture miss on
(16:20):
draft picks the whole league does, but get the free
agent signings usually right. And I'm looking at Kadi and
I'm like, and I've told you before, I love Kadie
the player. He seems like a nice guy. His career
moves drive me nuts. But the Miami Heat do stars well,
Peyton Shack, Wade, Lebron, Bosh, I mean Lebron and Butler left,
but I don't know, seem like they all got to
(16:42):
They get to a lot of finals in Miami, and
they don't always have the best roster. I mean, Jimmy
Butler got to a couple of finals. I didn't like
the roster. I like Jimmy Butler and Tyler herro was
good last night. I've hitn't miss on him. So just
a thought as I watched them a clobber of Chicago
beginning to end last night. Katie, no state tax, Winter
(17:03):
League mostly pat Riley Spolstra.
Speaker 3 (17:07):
That feels like a good fit to me.
Speaker 7 (17:09):
Jordan with the news, No, no turn on the news.
Speaker 6 (17:13):
This is the herd line news all.
Speaker 7 (17:16):
Right calling the Mavericks beat the Kings last night to
keep their playoff hopes alive. Anthony Davis, Yeah, twenty seven
and nine. It was good, while mister Clay twenty three
on eight for eleven, shooting very efficient. After the game,
Thompson told the media quote, we wanted to give the
city of Dallas something to be proud of. Speaking of
(17:36):
the word proud column. We talked so much about Luca
in that trade going to the Lakers, But how about
the fact that you have two future Hall of Famers,
and Klay Thompson and Anthony Davis. They got some pride too, man,
and I think it'd be foolish of us as basketball fans,
as lovers of the NBA to put that aside and
(17:57):
forget the fact that these guys want to do something too.
Speaker 1 (18:00):
If before Kyrie Irving tore his ACL so who knows
if he comes back the same player, But before that happened,
I had a very unpopular opinion. In the short term,
if they were healthy, they're better than the Lakers and Luca.
Now long term, I'm taking Luke in his prime, of course,
but they have the best center rotation in the league
before Kyrie got hurt, one of the best closers all
(18:23):
time and certainly in the league now under six', four
big athletic they need another playmaker to take the ease
and the burden Off Kyrie irving playing thirty eight minutes a.
Speaker 3 (18:34):
Night but they've got a really good.
Speaker 1 (18:38):
Roster but it all fell apart, simultaneously and so it
makes the, trade which was a bad, trade look. Catastrophic
If kyrie was playing right now and ad and you
have a healthy, roster this team's absolutely capable of getting
to The Western conference. Finals they've got good, players just
(18:59):
most of them are banged.
Speaker 7 (18:59):
Up, yeah if you think about, it last, season in
the play in, Game clay goes oh for, ten oh for. Ten.
Yeah last night eight for, eleven twenty three.
Speaker 3 (19:09):
Points, well he played.
Speaker 7 (19:09):
Well speaking of, PRIDE i mean you're talking about a
four TIME nba. Champion Clay davis is a top seventy five.
Player it was cool to see, that at least. Temperarily
Derrick henry signed a two, year sixteen million dollars contract
With baltimore in twenty twenty, four and it paid off.
Immediately henry ran for just under two thousand yards had
a league high sixteen. Tuds The ravens could extend the
(19:32):
thirty one year old running back to give the team
more cat flexibility and keep him In baltimore long. Term
Here's RAVENS Gm Eric tacosta talking about his running.
Speaker 8 (19:42):
Back we have a lot of different balls in the
air right. Now that's probably WHAT i would say on.
That you, Know i'm not going to talk about what we're,
doing what we're not doing behind the scenes business wise
with these.
Speaker 7 (19:51):
GUYS i don't think it's good for me to do.
Speaker 8 (19:53):
That we're blessed to have a bunch of really good,
players and we're going to try and keep as many
of those guys as we.
Speaker 7 (19:59):
Can you, know it's interesting because we saw it last
year With. Saquon, now The Philadelphia eagles just Extended barkley
and he has two years or had two years left
on his. Contract it would make a lot of, sense
too much sense for me WHEN i think about The
ravens to Extend Derreck. Henry they have other guys Linder,
Baum Kyle, Hamilton isaiah likely other guys that could.
Speaker 3 (20:20):
Extend, well he's one of their six core.
Speaker 7 (20:23):
Players to, me it's a no. Brainer. Yeah he he
already proved his.
Speaker 1 (20:27):
WORTH i can see moving Off Mark edwards the Title Mark.
Speaker 7 (20:30):
Andrews, Yeah Mark.
Speaker 1 (20:31):
Andrews it's a good tight end draft, yeah he's getting
more banged. Up that's a tough physical. Position Tight ends
can age very very. QUICKLY i Like Mark, andrews BUT
i would move off him at this. Point IF i
had to save, MONEY i get that.
Speaker 7 (20:42):
Move but there's no downside right to Extending Derek. Henry
he is a. Unicorn he's thirty. One he plays like
he's twenty. Five there's no age. There, okay this is pretty.
Cool Shoe haltani continues to. Impress he blasted his leadoff
home run four hundred and forty.
Speaker 3 (20:56):
Eight, wow, oh look at.
Speaker 2 (20:59):
That oh.
Speaker 7 (21:00):
Woo Now atani's tied for the league.
Speaker 3 (21:02):
Leading he, Looks, oh my, lord but.
Speaker 7 (21:05):
This is his twelfth homer colin of over four hundred
and forty five. Feet, now why does that. Matter otani's
got more home runs of over four to forty five
than any Other dodger since they've started tracking the stat
eight decade. Ago he's been on the team a little
over a.
Speaker 3 (21:20):
Year that's not that far from leaving the. Stadium that
is a. Bomb he was.
Speaker 7 (21:25):
Seen pouring his teammates. Water by the, way this is
how unselfish this guy. Is there is a great clip of.
Him he's getting. Water looks like he's thirst to. Say,
no he's actually getting water for his. TEAMMATES i would, Argue,
colin And i'm curious where you're at on, This is
this the greatest free agency signing IN mlb?
Speaker 1 (21:44):
History, well he's the greatest player in baseball. History, yeah
he's the most skilled player of all. Time, YEAH i,
MEAN I i believe two years ago The dodgers, said
because The dodge spend, money and a couple of years
ago they started restructuring deals and spent a little less than.
(22:06):
USUAL i think The dodgers saw several years ago this
is the, guy a better version Of Babe.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
Ruth.
Speaker 1 (22:14):
Yeah and he's such a GOOD i, mean, honestly he
looks like a Movie.
Speaker 3 (22:19):
Sarah he is such a good, looking humble. Kid it's just. Amazing.
Speaker 7 (22:24):
Yeah it's interesting because we Have i'm In New, york
that's WHERE i. Live we Have Aaron, judge who's kind
of our version Of, otani maybe not quite the. Same
AND i was at A yankee game the other day
and people were talking About Aaron judge and how great he.
Is AND i asked a couple Of yankee, FANS i,
said would you Take otani Over judge and they all
they both, said you, know we Love, jodge we loved but,
Yes otani's the only, Guy yes that transcends the.
Speaker 3 (22:46):
Sports, yeah absolutely.
Speaker 7 (22:48):
So he's perfect FOR.
Speaker 3 (22:49):
La baseball is lucky right.
Speaker 1 (22:51):
Now if you look at baseball's best, players and this
just knows the, case they're, all, well.
Speaker 3 (22:57):
They're all good.
Speaker 1 (22:57):
Guys Rice harper's a great, Guy Mookie BET's a great
Old Tawny Aaron, Judge, like it does matter that they
the guys that are front and center are like good.
People that doesn't always work that. Way you can get
some you, know, uh problematic. Guys but A baseball's got
it humming right. Now their stars are in the right
(23:18):
market and they're all like, friendly, humble good. Teammates like
it's a good. SPOT i would, Agree jordan with the, News.
Speaker 6 (23:28):
Well that's the, news and thanks for stopping by the.
Speaker 7 (23:31):
Line.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
News you, know it's there's an old, saying don't outthink the,
room and, uh maybe it's a guy, thing but sometimes you,
Know i'm trying to be smart And i'm breaking something
down And i've got a big decision in my, life
And i've had smarter people than me, say you, know
maybe it's an, agent maybe it's a boss or. Something somebody, says,
YEAH i wouldn't outthink the room on, This and so you,
(23:55):
Know i'm hearing all these stories About Shador sanders dionson
dropping in the.
Speaker 3 (24:03):
Draft so.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Let's say that happens and he becomes really. GOOD i
want you to think about a few. Things are we
overthinking the?
Speaker 3 (24:15):
Room?
Speaker 1 (24:15):
So number, one he's the son of a legend that's
worked a few. Times he was not only accurate with
an ATROCIOUS o, line he is the most accurate college
quarterback ever major, conference seventy four. Percent he actually played very,
well Unlike Jackson dart against the best teams he didn't
(24:39):
have to.
Speaker 3 (24:39):
Win he played.
Speaker 1 (24:40):
Well he carried a bad old line and no run
game to thirty three points a. Game so if you
don't draft him in Your cleveland or The giants or
maybe even The, jets are you gonna look up and, go, yeah,
yeah we probably out fought the. ROOM i always understood
(25:02):
passing On Josh, allen who's. Amazing he didn't get any college.
Scholarships he went to a. Juco he was crazy. Wild
Greg cosell told me going into his last year at,
college he, goes keep your eye on this. Kid SO
i watched them Against oregon In. Iowa he was a turnover,
machine he was, inaccurate he was, wild played small college.
Football LIKE i get people, going, YEAH i like, him
(25:25):
but we want to win now and he's like three years.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
AWAY i don't. KNOW i look at Schadeor.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Sanders he checks a lot of boxes and this whole
thing about, well he doesn't have any great. Traits, OKAY
i want you to think about. This this is out
thinking the. Room how many great quarterbacks are there in THE?
Nfl Like lamar's, Great, mahomes, Great, burrow, Great Allen. Great,
NOW i would Say Matt, Stafford Jalen, hurts there's. C. J.
(25:52):
Stroud there's some really really good. Guys And stafford may be,
Great aaron was years. Ago so there's five or six great.
Quarterbacks fourteen teams make the, playoffs meaning good or very
good quarterbacks get you to the. Playoffs and in THE,
nfl what you're trying to avoid is what The colts have,
(26:16):
going which is you, know this is not working at
all at. Quarterback that's because The colts have THE, gm
they got the, coach they got a good. Roster, yeah
this isn't working at. ALL i got fifty college, games
seventy four percent completion, percentage battle line thirty three a.
Speaker 3 (26:36):
Game you keep telling me he's not. MOBILE i keep
watching the. Film he's.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Mobile it's Not lamar, mobile but he's Not Jared. Goff
he's more than. MOBILE i Mean. Mahomes you, know you
Watch mahomes and you, see, oh that's, great get great
out of. Here good makes the. Playoffs Trevor lawrence has
made the. Playoffs Kirk, Cousins Jared, Goff good makes the.
(27:04):
Playoffs So good is clearly good enough for your franchise
to be playing In? January and isn't that really what it's?
ABOUT i mean, Two i've said this about. Two i'm
not a huge to a.
Speaker 3 (27:18):
Fan too is. GOOD i don't think.
Speaker 1 (27:20):
He's very, good but he's. Good And tuoa got the
bag and everybody on the. SHOW i, Mean dak is. Good,
NOW i wouldn't Pay dak great, money But dak's.
Speaker 3 (27:33):
GOOD i don't. KNOW i JUST i think SOMETIMES i,
THINK i you know.
Speaker 1 (27:40):
Again Joel klatt On tuesday discussed what makes HIM nfl.
Speaker 3 (27:45):
Ready you cannot question his.
Speaker 4 (27:49):
Accuracy he is. Lethal he can put the football in
a shoe, box really anywhere on the, field mostly inside the.
Numbers i've told you how Bad colorado was before they got,
there and everybody immediately talks about the Coach prime effect
or The Travis hunter. Effect what took them from one
win to nine wins, was, yes those, guys but mainly
(28:10):
it Was. Shadoor it was the fact that he was
a great. Quarterback.
Speaker 3 (28:15):
YEAH i don't.
Speaker 1 (28:17):
KNOW i SO i will have my mock draft in
twenty five minutes of the top fifteen, teams and.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
There are certain teams in this. LEAGUE i don't know
how you pass on. HIM i don't really get.
Speaker 6 (28:30):

Speaker 1 (29:43):
One, OKAY i am very. EXCITED i do it once a.
Year i'm gonna do my mock draft top fifteen draft
picks at the top of next.
Speaker 3 (29:53):
Hour i've told you, Before i'm. Delusional IF i.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
Didn't do, this which is pretty easy compared to a
screen or AN nfl general. MANAGER i would want to
be A, gm but WHEN i went to, school my,
College Eastern Washington, university did not have a major IN nfl,
personnel SO i ended up.
Speaker 3 (30:13):
Talking BUT i love. This i'm into.
Speaker 1 (30:16):
It you, KNOW i love the, draft and so we're
going to do that in twenty. Minutes i'm going to
have a mock, draft And i'll give you. REASONS i
think it's well thought. OUT i, think you, KNOW i
may miss on fourteen to, fifteen BUT i really Think i'm.
Right it's almost like when you buy a powerball. TICKET
i start, thinking you, KNOW i could use a, boat
a second. Car i've already won the thing every TIME
i play. It AND i Know i'm looking at this
(30:37):
mock draft And i'm, like these teams are idiotic if
they don't listen to.
Speaker 3 (30:40):
Me these are brilliant.
Speaker 2 (30:41):
PICKS i.
Speaker 3 (30:41):
THINK i think you'll enjoy. It we'll say, That.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Okay so a lot of times there is because something
is great for a long, time it sort of gets
embedded with, us and maybe a local restaurant that's good
for a long, time and even if the service gets,
bad you're kind of used to, it you love, it keep.
Going AND i would give you an. Example.
Speaker 3 (31:03):
BOEING i grew up in The Pacific.
Speaker 1 (31:04):
Northwest boeing was very, prideful leading exporter in THE, us you,
know the pride Of american. Engineering And boeing's having. Troubles
if you googled problems With boeing right, now you know
since twenty, eighteen fifty one billion dollars in operating losses
(31:26):
and they just had a door plug recently rip off
a plane at thirty three thousand. Feet, boeing you, know
the term now to talk About boeing should be if It's,
Boeing i'm not going it's it's struggling as a, company
and they've had whistleblowers and, problems AND i mean it
just there's controversy every fifteen minutes With. Boeing it makes
(31:47):
me think about the Planes i'm flying, Seriously AND i
think The Pittsburgh steeters have become. That IF i said to,
You heather's THIS nfl, team, well who just. Listen they
haven't won a playoff game in eight years and It's
april Mid. April they don't know who their starting quarterback.
(32:07):
Is does that sound like a well run. Operation Diana.
Russini yesterday we talked about The Steelers Aaron. Rodgers here she.
Speaker 11 (32:16):
IS i Think Aaron rodgers is definitely sitting back. GOING
i want to go to a place WHERE i can
drop right in Like Tom brady did In Tampa bay
and win A Super bowl this. YEAR i don't. THINK
i don't think The Pittsburgh steelers are built to. WIN
i can tell YOU i spoke To pittsburgh this. Morning no,
updates think about, this no updates right. Now at this,
(32:36):
point as we're a week out from the, draft they
still have no idea whether or Not Aaron rodgers is
going to sign with. Him they still want.
Speaker 3 (32:42):
Them BUT i just.
Speaker 11 (32:43):
Think aaron knows he's got the leverage in the situation
here and he may just sit this thing out and wait.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
It's.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
APRIL i, mean the teams that are well run in this,
league like The chiefs and The, rams have moved off
like Super bowl level quarterbacks or playoff level.
Speaker 3 (33:03):
Quarterbacks steelers don't have a.
Speaker 1 (33:06):
Quarterback so NOW i Believe i've said, This aaron's too
smart to make a dumb. DECISION i don't Think pittsburgh
fits at. All, NOW i could be. Wrong he'd make
a big announcement AND i could be, wrong but if
you want to be A, steeler my guess is he
would be A steeler right. Now If aaron wanted to
be A, steeler he'd be A. Steeler he would have
announced it two weeks. Ago and SO i think the
(33:27):
smart move here For Aaron, rodgers the very smart move, is,
Hey i'm going to wait for the draft and see
where the chips fall on. QUARTERBACKS i don't want to
Become Kirk, cousins an older. QUARTERBACK i go to a
team then they draft a quarterback and there's controversy and
the young, QUARTERBACK i, Mean aaron doesn't want to go
somewhere where they draft a quarterback and the young quarterbacks
(33:49):
getting snaps, attention and if he has a bad, game everybody's,
like hey play the young.
Speaker 3 (33:52):
Guy they don't want to go.
Speaker 1 (33:54):
There SO i Think aaron smartly is sitting back and, going,
Yeah i'm Not i'm not really interested in rolling the
dice With. Pittsburgh so that's my. Take here's another story
that is, LISTEN i know that all you, GUYS i
(34:14):
see the Reaction Bill belichick dating a girl in his.
Speaker 3 (34:17):
Twenties it's kind of, icky you, know like like fifteen
years younger than his. Son it's it's. Whatever i'm not a. Moralist.
Whatever i'm not even going to tell you what my wife.
Said but.
Speaker 1 (34:33):
So belichick's girlfriend Told North carolina not to Introduce Steve
belichick As bill's son to combat, nepotism claims like we
can't all figure.
Speaker 3 (34:42):
Out that his son.
Speaker 1 (34:45):
Whatever so WHAT i think is interesting About belichick in?
College SO i initially strongly believed that he showed no
indications of ever wanting to coach in. College you, know
believe what people show you and tell, you believe they're.
Act Since bill was a bad. Drafter he didn't watch
college football On. Saturdays he wasn't sitting down WATCHING ucla
(35:07):
And Oregon. State clearly he didn't draft. Well the coaches
that really draft well or have a draft feel Like
Jimmy johnson loved college. FOOTBALL i KNOW i work With.
Jimmy jimmy loves watching college. Football that's why he was
so good drafting it when he became a cowboy. Coach,
Right bill, Doesn't and so my initial take is it
(35:30):
would be like a gap. Year carolina was going to
be like like like a layover at an airport right
a couple, hours and that his contract even stipulated he
could lead pretty, quickly and that he would go To
philadelphia Or. Buffalo, well they Like sean McDermott And buffalo
And sirianni just won A Super. Bowl So bill staying
(35:50):
At carolina for the time. Being BUT i will tell
you the other thing that's really clear is he doesn't
appear to have a lot OF nfl.
Speaker 3 (35:59):
Interest that was.
Speaker 1 (36:00):
Clear and the couple organizations THAT i thought he would
go back for one just won The Super.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Bowl that's.
Speaker 1 (36:05):
Clear AND i do, think you, know dating somebody in
their twenties feels a little. Awkward it's one of those
things among guys you're like thumbs. Up in the corporate
world of THE, nfl it would be a little. Wonky
SO i do Think bill's going to stay at college.
(36:26):
FOOTBALL i did not think this six months to a year.
AGO i think he's just stay at college. FOOTBALL i
think he'll be pretty successful BECAUSE i think now you
don't have to, go you, know beat the bushes for
high school. Players you can go buy college. Kids THE
nil Helps. Bill but you, know the whole girlfriend, thing
she's kind of like running his brand, now and IT'S i,
(36:48):
MEAN i, Again i'm not a moralist, whatever but it's
just it's just a little odd to. Me AND i
do not think it's viewed by THE nfl as you, know.
Copathetic it's kind of like that's you, Know belichick's also seventy,
three and he's not A Pete carroll. Seventy Pete carroll's
like young and joyful and fun and laughing and. Aspirational
(37:12):
pete is a different. PERSONALITY i had, Said raiders go
Hire pete Bears Hire pete Like. Pete some people are
seventy and feel. Fifty Nick saban's close to. Seventy Nick
saban feels mid. Fifties he's talking a mile a. Minute
belichick looks his age and kind of is grumpy like his.
Speaker 3 (37:27):
Age and SO i don't.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
Know WHEN i watched the Whole New england, Thing i'm
fascinated by. It At carolina is The patriot way in
a year gonna be dude lost his way Cause i'm
just watching all this internet stuff and the girlfriend And
i'm not judging, you do? You but it is Weird
AND i don't think people in THE nfl look at
(37:51):
it and, go, yeah, yeah it is is a guy
that is, current like he went TO espn and builds
one of those that when he laughs ON, tv it
looks like he's struggling to, laugh like it's not natural and,
fun and it's kind of it felt a little forced courtesy,
laugh and so he was trying to.
Speaker 3 (38:11):
Rebrand AND i get. It i'm not you know. Whatever
she's probably a wonderful.
Speaker 1 (38:14):
Person but AS i watched this whole thing And i'm
seeing the video this week and she's kind of running the,
Show i'm, Like, jordan it just feels a little.
Speaker 3 (38:22):
Odd.
Speaker 7 (38:23):
Yeah the video of her that we just saw where
she walks off to him a, practice there's a ton
of guys. Running it's. Weird it's it's just, weird. Okay
AND i understand that they've been dating there in a.
Relationship this is it?
Speaker 2 (38:37):
Right here is?
Speaker 7 (38:38):
She what is her? Authority nothing against, her but what
is Her this is not.
Speaker 1 (38:44):
A personal, attack, no what it is is the winning
his football coach in the history of THE, nfl the
most important coach Since Bill. WALSH i, mean he's on
The Mount rushmore and he goes to college AND i
didn't really buy, it BUT i hope he does well
BECAUSE i like college football And i'd love to watch.
Speaker 3 (38:58):
Him And i'm you, know and In, bill we.
Speaker 1 (39:01):
TRUST i sat at the other company and for ten
years watched Every patriot, game, practice ANYTHING i can get
my hands.
Speaker 3 (39:06):
On i'm rooting for.
Speaker 1 (39:07):
Him but, THIS i, mean you can't avoid with all
the social, platforms, now you can't avoid this. Stuff, no
if you turn your phone, on these images Of bill
the Girlfriend carolina are flying.
Speaker 7 (39:17):
In talking about and. PRACTICED i don't get. It why
is she? There there's no other girlfriend or spouse at a?
Speaker 3 (39:25):
Practice you know?
Speaker 1 (39:25):
What it shows me he's staying in college because because
he's smart, enough don't do that in.
Speaker 3 (39:30):
College, yeah he's smart enough to know. That you. Know
there's some owners are looking at, it, going, yeah all, RIGHT.
Speaker 7 (39:37):
I DON'T i don't get. It you said the word.
Speaker 3 (39:39):
Icky that's it's And i'm not judging on.
Speaker 6 (39:43):
That i'm.
Speaker 7 (39:43):
Not i'm talking about her. Practice it's just it doesn't
send a good. Message that's that's.
Speaker 3 (39:49):
Yeah and you AND i are. NOT i, MEAN i
know you well, enough even THOUGH i blew you off
for dinner.
Speaker 7 (39:54):
For, dinner although you, know, listen you didn't feel.
Speaker 5 (39:57):
WELL i.
Speaker 7 (39:57):
DIDN'T i went to the restaurant by myself in the.
Speaker 1 (39:59):
GLASS i still don't feel, weight But i'm not missing
my mock draft. Day so it's, just you, KNOW i
don't THINK i come across as a, moralist but stuff
can be off.
Speaker 3 (40:09):
Putting it's, like, yeah that's it off. Putting good.
Speaker 1 (40:13):
Word if you went with your wife and my wife
to dinner and with a seventy year old and the
girlfriend was, twenty we'd be.
Speaker 7 (40:22):
Talking ABOUT i mean what that would be the entire
topic of conversation after. Dinner, hey what do you think about?
Speaker 1 (40:29):
That i'm, just you know, What Maybe i'm being too judges, Whatever,
Okay Rachel. Nichols the mock draft that nobody's been waiting,
for the mock Draft i'm waiting.
Speaker 3 (40:40):
For AND i believe these are smart. Picks i'm THE.
Speaker 1 (40:44):
Gm this is WHAT i would do based on your free,
agency your, needs your lack of production. Contracts you, Know
i'm gonna look at the top fifteen. Team this is
WHAT i would. Do not sure how. Many he'll be,
right but it's next hour.
Speaker 3 (40:58):
Two the hurd
