Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (00:32):
It's a Herd here Fox Sports Radio. LeVar Arrington Jonas
Knox in for Colin. You can hear us weekday morning
six am Eastern time, three o'clock Pacific here on many
of these Fox Sports Radio affiliates normally alongside Brady Quinn.
Brady Quinn is not with us here, so when LeVar

(00:54):
and I fill in and it's just him and I
do in the show, we'd like to refer to ourselves
as Black and Drack.

Speaker 4 (01:04):
Don't get nervous.

Speaker 3 (01:06):
I don't get nervous because it's because I'm It's because
I'm pale and I'm dark. So welcome in do the
debut edition of Black and Drack here in for Calling
and company on the Herd.

Speaker 4 (01:21):
What up sticks? Good morning, well, good afternoon. To say
good good noon to some people. Yeah, it's very interesting
Good morning to you, Good morning to everyone out here.
It is very interesting seeing the light of day, seeing
actual human beings walking by the studio, seeing energy running
through your body because you're fully awake. I don't even
need this coffee, It's just a prop for certain I've

(01:43):
already had two cups before I left the house and sleep.

Speaker 3 (01:49):
So first off, want to say congratulations Clayton Kershaw three
thousand strikeouts. It was quite the scene at Dodger Stadium. Yeah,
no kidding, a lot of a lot of throwing, lots
of scenes last night at Dodger Stadium. Clayton Kershaw gets
strikeout three thousand against the White Sox. The Dodgers were trailing.
He did not look great, probably probably the worst he's

(02:14):
looked since he's come back from the injury and the
rehab and all that. But nonetheless, it was about the
moment in the career of Clayton Kershaw. He gets strikeout
number three thousand and then they go on to walk
it off in the ninth because Freddie Freeman does it again.
So it was quite the scene there for the La
Dodgers at Dodger Stadium. Dodger fans were thrilled. Now from

(02:35):
one fan base and one organization that is legitimate championship
contenders and defending world champions to another team in town
that is not. Oh jeez, ladies and gentlemen to Los
Angeles Lakers. Oh yeah, take your pick. Yeah, hey, talk

(02:57):
about different balls in the Which one you want to catch?

Speaker 2 (03:00):
Man?

Speaker 4 (03:01):
There's still some up in the air. You chose to
catch the Lakers on.

Speaker 3 (03:04):
That you want to talk about a wild turn of events.
It's like the movie when Steven Sagal was in a
coma and he wakes up after eight years and he's like,
what the hell happened?

Speaker 4 (03:14):
How did everything change?

Speaker 3 (03:15):
I woke up this morning and all of a sudden,
I like rubbed my eyes and I'm looking around, going, oh,
so DeAndre Ayden's the lynchpin to a championship contender. Okay,
I had no idea. This is news to me, but
apparently he is.

Speaker 4 (03:31):
I'm in on that, DeAndre Aiden, Yeah, I'm in on that.

Speaker 3 (03:36):
Which of the forty games, or better yet, which of
the forty two games he missed last year was your favorite?

Speaker 4 (03:41):
Because I don't know. I kind of like the.

Speaker 3 (03:45):
This whole thing is bananas came out bananas, But apparently
that stuff is like, you.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Can't measure the amount of games missed anymore. And they
NBA that the idea of a disgruntal player, an unhappy organization,
the politics that play a part in missing games as
a pro NBA player is very real. So I don't

(04:16):
look at the amount of games that he missed last
year and say he can't be the guy that we've
seen him be when he was in Phoenix. I say,
I look at a guy that was in a situation
that didn't work out for him and didn't work out
for the organization, and now he's going somewhere else, and
that's probably why you didn't see a lot of him

(04:36):
this past season.

Speaker 3 (04:37):
And the problem I have with this is that this
is the third stop now for DeAndre Aiden. He was
in Phoenix, he goes to Portland. Now he's with the Lakers,
and a lot of people don't like Portland. Though, Oh
I listen, I you know what I mean, Like, I'm
not going to hold Portland against Sorry Portland, but I'm
just not going to hold Portland against Aiden.

Speaker 4 (04:56):
I'm not.

Speaker 3 (04:57):
Now. The reason why I would say that there should
be cause for concern is that there was reported issues
in Phoenix you know, work ethleic, tardiness, all the things
that come along with it.

Speaker 4 (05:09):
Attitude.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Are you talking about Luca? Are you talking about DeAndre?
Talking about DeAndre? Oh, okay, Luca's already been fat chiamed enough.
We're not gonna go okay.

Speaker 4 (05:18):
I mean, I was just making sure that we understood
that maybe the Lakers are feeling like they're well versed
in those type of guys.

Speaker 3 (05:25):
Nico Harrison was like Joe Clark, Joe Clark in the
movie talking to that kid who's overweight, some slovenly sloppy Moore.

Speaker 4 (05:36):
Doing jump.

Speaker 2 (05:38):
Smoke crack.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Don't Nico Harrison jump, challenging Luca to jump off the building?

Speaker 2 (05:46):
You want to jump?

Speaker 4 (05:49):
No, no, I want to play for the Lakers. I'm sorry,
I want to play for the Lakers. I don't want
to do it anymore.

Speaker 3 (06:01):
So Nico Harrison was busy fat shaming Luca. DeAndre Ayton
was in Portland, and according to it's not fat he
does don't work hard.

Speaker 4 (06:09):
I guess, don't you thank you?

Speaker 3 (06:14):
That was a Nico Harrison live on the on the
top of a building, ready to throw Luca.

Speaker 4 (06:19):
That is not how Luca's losing the White people, So
it is not what we're insinuating.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
So DeAndre Ayton, according to an article from the New
York Times that he there were veterans were kind of
fed up with him. He would show late, he would
miss team planes or be tardy to team planes, just
like the just your typical not really all that invested.
Some people kind of viewed him as a bit of
a clown there, and it did not work, and he

(06:46):
was bought out, and so now he's a member of
the LA Lakers. Now I would say this, it's an upgrade, right,
it is an upgrade at the center position. But it's
an upgrade much like sushi at a liquor store when
you're hungry.

Speaker 4 (07:02):
It's food.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
I just don't know if that's the kind of food
you want, or if that's the kind of food that
you would go that's exactly what's going to get me
through the rest of my day. I'm just skeptical. I
still look at this team and I go, they are
at best fourth fifth in the conference, and considering the
upgrade Houston made, what okayse just did You've got Denver

(07:26):
coming back Minnesota you think will take the next step.
I just I don't know. How this does anything different
for the Lakers next year.

Speaker 4 (07:33):
I think it does if the leadership quality is there
for DeAndre Aiden and the scenarios that you are mentioning,
I don't. I don't feel as though a can't get
right because those are can't get right actions. If if
you feel as though coming into the scenario you have
a good hold of understanding through you know your conversations

(07:57):
with with Aiden, that those are things you can manage.
I honestly believe as a player, when DeAndre Aiden is
playing the game, he can be one of the more
elite bigs in the game. And if you were to
ask anybody who knows basketball and has paid attention to
the Lakers, they've needed a big man. They needed a

(08:19):
legitimate big man. And as we continue down this road
of preparing for post Lebron James era in LA, I
think this is a good move. Now let me add
this to it because I got this from my guy Cuffs,
the legend by the way, some dude show put up Cuffs.
He comes along with us on Saturdays when we do

(08:40):
up on games, and he did call DeAndre Aiden going
to the Lakers, by the way, before it happened in
previous shows, and this is the latest that he's come
up with. And I think that this is pretty spot
on and on par for what could possibly take place
with everybody getting what they want. I think the Lakers

(09:01):
want to move on from Lebron James. I think Lebron
James is okay with moving on from the Lakers if
it serves his purpose, which is one he's trying to
get another championship, or two to try to catch up
with MJ and Kobe, and three to make sure that

(09:23):
his son's career isn't cut short. What would be the
best solution to that, Well, let's talk about it. If
you put all of the elements together and you say, okay,
what makes this work for Lebron James in this scenario,
it would be most likely to go to an organization
that still would approve of having him, would embrace having him,

(09:48):
would support having him, which would lead to possibly him
being able to package that up with bringing his son
with him. There's the possibility of that unless within the
buyout or the leaving of LA they would make sure
they take care of Brownie James in the event that
he were to leave here. Those two elements, right, but

(10:10):
it would also be for him to go to a
place where he a has a chance to win in
the championship, be be with somebody that he's familiar with.
If the New York Knicks hire Brown, right, if they
hire Mike Brown, there is a relationship of respect and
admiration between Lebron James and Mike Brown. They have history together.

(10:32):
They go back to when Lebron James first time in
Cleveland he was with them, they had a ton of
great success. Mike Brown is a very well respected coach.
If he were indeed and in fact the coach that
ended up being named the head coach of the New
York Knickerbockers, is there a possibility as close as that

(10:53):
New York Knicks team is to competing for an NBA title?
Would that be the move Mike Brown falls into place?
Boom first domino falls down? Is Lebron James the next
domino in that? In that series of dominoes to fall?
Does he end up in New York great market? He
goes from one major media market to the other major

(11:16):
the two bohemos, he goes to the other one. And
we know that Lebron James has made a career of
going to organizations that are close to winning championships or
I have already won one. This Knicks team is close
to a championship. It would be a familiar person in Brown.
He would be able to integrate and get in there

(11:38):
in an easy manner, a less stressful manner, and make
a difference for a team that was probably a Lebron
James away from being able to make it at least
to the championship round. Well, it gets him closer for sure,
because the Eastern Conference is wide open.

Speaker 3 (11:54):
Well, there you go. It's wide open because of all
the injuries. And look, I've said it before on Fox
Sports Radio. I believe Cleveland's in an advantageous spot because
for a team that's running to injury bad luck the
past couple of years, everybody else ran into it this
year and maybe Cleveland just by default becomes the healthiest team.

(12:14):
And if Mike Brown does you know his finalize and
that's the reports we're hearing that he's going to be
the coach of the Knicks. Yeah, if you're Lebron and
this is all about you getting to another NBA finals
to have another shot. The easier path of the East
by far, because in the Western conference, it ain't happening
right now.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
Doesn't that bring you back to the conversation. It was
just out there. Everybody was throwing this out there, ring chasing,
ring chasing culture, ring chasing culture. As if Lebron James
was the creator of ring chasing culture. He's not, by
the way. I don't think people should try to downgrade
him that way, but ring chasing culture. If Lebron James

(12:53):
were to leave and to go to a team like
the New York Knicks, it's that does this Does this
now begin to be the idea of you couldn't get
it done in Cleveland, so you had to go to Miami.
You eventually got it done in Miami, and then you
go back and then you get it in Cleveland. Then

(13:16):
you can't get it done in Cleveland anymore. So now
you go and build a super team and you are
able to get a bubble, a bubble championship in La
La seems to have run its course. Now if you
go to New York looking at what they got in Brunson,
looking at what they got in if they're going to
keep towns, which you would assume that they're going to
keep Karl Anthony towns, you go join eighteen that actually

(13:39):
is set and built to make a run for the championship.
What does this do to Lebron james legacy, Because, in
all due respect, Lebron James has had to go chase
the rings elsewhere. It has never been bring the rings

(14:00):
to him. And when you look at Kobe, they brought
the rings to Kobe. When you look at MJ, they
brought the rings to MJ. They didn't go somewhere else
to go get it done with somebody else's main players
and you integrated and maybe became the main player. They
didn't do that with the Steph Curry didn't do that.
The rings have come to where they are. Lebron James

(14:22):
is widely considered arguably the greatest basketball player of all
time and yet maybe be the maybe the only one
in the category of having to go chase the rings elsewhere.

Speaker 3 (14:38):
First, I think it's pretty disrespectful to list off the
accomplishments of Lebron James and not include the nd season title.

Speaker 4 (14:45):
Oh that's my bet, that's rude, my bet, my bet,
and enter that Champions of the nd Season tournament.

Speaker 3 (14:53):
Now, I bet I've heard from people that the ring
he got in the bubble wasn't actually a ring, it
was a gold COVID mask. Again, I don't know, and
I'm not trying to spend be negative. Yeah, I'm not
trying to spread any sort of negativity out there. But
I just think he is what he is at this point,
and what if I don't think that there's anything that

(15:13):
he could do to either jump above Jordan or move
off anybody else's list. Like you feel about Lebron, how
you feel about him, and if this is all about
I want to go chase another championship, it's going to
come down to him looking at the landscape of the
Western Conference and trying to figure out is that the
best way to do it. Me personally, I don't think

(15:34):
it is. I think there's way too many obstacles in
the way and way too many better teams. I think
if he's going to do it, it's going to be
out East. I just don't know, depending on what they're
going to ask in return. If the Knicks look at
that and go, is it really worth one year potentially
of Lebron and everything that comes along with me?

Speaker 4 (15:52):
He took his option, he took his option, and he's
getting older. What exactly are you going to ask for
in trying to get a hold of lebron James? And
if that value is so high that it is a
scoff at it and turn and walk away from it,

(16:13):
then why are you getting rid of him? If his
value to you is still that high? Why are you
getting rid of him? Look?

Speaker 3 (16:21):
I think if you're the Lakers and you're planning on
moving on with him, moving on from him after a year,
just do it now?

Speaker 2 (16:27):
Do it now?

Speaker 4 (16:28):
Yeah? I make him make it doable. I'm with you.
Don't don't try. Don't try to rob the whole hen house.
If you know your intentions are to get him out
of there. If you want to get him out, then
make it a doable situation. Make it a doable deal.
And for what it's worth, if you felt like you

(16:48):
got dupe by bringing in his child, you could get
a two for one er. Yo, daddy, Yo, daddy did this?
Now you got to go right along with him? What's
about a way? How do you handle that? Like, if
Bronnie James has to go because his dad he left,
how will the media handle that? That's a whole other

(17:10):
conversation in itself.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
God, what do you you will find out a lot
about lebron James's reputation in town if they traded him
and then immediately after trading him they made Bronnie the custodian,
like that would be you'd find a hell of a
lot about. Wasn't looking for that plot twist, but that
was the hell of a twist. Like all of a sudden,
they're like, heyre's here's a mop and a bucket. He
could say he's an employee of the LA Lakers.

Speaker 5 (17:35):
I mean, I mean, all the perks if he gets
to sit on the bench, but he's cleaning toilets and
cleaning floors during the week, making sure there's no dust
on the floor for practice, He's still considered to be
an employee of the LA Lakers.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
Yeah, it's the whole thing is a bit bizarre, but
nonetheless it is the Herd. Here on Fox Sports Radio,
LeVar Arrington Jonas Knox in for Colin as we take
you all the way up until three o'clock Eastern time
noon Pacific up next here on the Herd. Though, there's
one team in the NFL that feels great about everything
going into next year, but maybe they shouldn't find out why.

Speaker 4 (18:13):
Right here on FSR.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern non am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 4 (18:23):
Hi, this is Jay.

Speaker 6 (18:24):
I'm the producer of the Paula and Tony Fusco Show.
Usually in these promos they ask you to listen to
the show. I'm here to ask you please don't listen
to the show. The hosts are two absolute morons who
have the dumbest takes on sports imaginable. Don't listen to
the show so it can get camped.

Speaker 4 (18:38):
Who wha what? What the hell are you doing in
our studio?

Speaker 2 (18:40):
Get him?

Speaker 4 (18:40):
PAULI ignore that fool. Listen to the Pauling Tony Fusco
Show on the iHeartRadio app or wherever you get your podcast.

Speaker 2 (18:50):
He's still moving.

Speaker 4 (18:52):
It's a Herd. Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 3 (18:55):
LaVar Arrington, Jonas Knox in for Colin coming up here
in about twenty mine from now in another edition of
The Herdline News. We had history in the world of
sports last night. We will tell you why, who it involved,
and how it nearly got a little bit interesting. That'll
be yours here again about twenty minutes from now here.
On Fox Sports Radio, so Andrew Philippony, who's a radio

(19:17):
host in Pittsburgh. He recently pointed out these Steelers being
underdogs in eleven of seventeen games this upcoming season. So
here are the games, because it's a shorter list and
it won't be I won't take us long. Here are
the games that they are favored in, Week one of
the Jets, Week two versus the Seahawks, Week six versus
the Browns, Week nine versus the Colts, Week fifteen versus

(19:40):
the Dolphins, and Week seventeen at the Browns sidebar, thank
you to the Cleveland Browns for being in the same
division as the Steelers, because you will guarantee that they
won't finish last. But the Steelers being going into the
season with all this hooplaw and all this discussion, when
you start to take a look back, and we've talked

(20:02):
about it on our show Two Pros and a Cup
of Joe, when you start to take a look back
and you look at what the NFL presented them from
a schedule standpoint, they're up against it this year. Like
they do not have an easy schedule. It is difficult,
which is why the win total had been set at
eight and a half for Pittsburgh, and if you're an

(20:23):
eight or a nine win team in the AFC, you're
probably not gonna make the playoffs in that conference. So
for all the discussion about all the pieces they've added,
it still feels like Pittsburgh's up against it going into
next year based on the schedule.

Speaker 4 (20:39):
Listen, I've made my points on this known as this
has continued to unfold. They have been active this offseason,
and they have spent money. But people make the point
of saying that Pittsburgh spends their money on defense, and
that's true, it's proven through the information that is set

(20:59):
forth and put out there. But they do look to
be trying to improve their offense. Now. I don't know
that I'm a believer in their back back committee that's
in their running backs room right now, but maybe it
works out for them based on what they see in
terms of their quarterback position. It's a it's obviously a

(21:20):
tremendous risk. It's a big move to bring in Aaron Rodgers,
and it's a probably a short lived move. But what
does that short lived acquisition, What are the results of that?
So you guys, are you know the bet the betters
out there or the prognosticators and betting are basically saying
that Aaron Aaron Rodgers is washed. That that is basically

(21:44):
in essence what they're saying. Damn. I mean, what else
does that insinuate? What does that insinuate? I just love
that term washed, cleaned in a mother lover. So so
my whole thing is what can Pittsburgh do Pittsburgh? And
this creates an interesting conversation Jonas, because I want to

(22:07):
throw it out at you and see how you feel
about it and try to make some sense of it.
They have a pretty decent defense. Their defense is not bad.
If they were to lose TJ. Watt, We've had the conversation.
I don't think it can happen. Shouldn't be a conversation,
but with some of the recent things I've heard swirling

(22:29):
around rumor wise, it's worth the conversation if you were
to get rid of TJ. Watt because you felt as
though giving him a long term contract doesn't serve the
Pittsburgh Steelers in a way where one you're going to
get the amount of production that you want for the
amount of time that you want it for, and two

(22:51):
it may make it difficult to trade him if you
wait and give him a new contract and try to
trade him under the new contract that he has. If
right now you feel like this is the best time
to unload TJ. Watt because it's that year early before
it's a year too late type of approach, then what

(23:12):
would you do to justify that trade. You would have
to bring in someone who makes your team unequivocally better
and almost justifies it.

Speaker 2 (23:27):
One.

Speaker 4 (23:28):
I do not believe you can bring in a swapout.
It can't be a defender. It just can't. You cannot
get rid of TJ. Watt and bring in another defender
and hope that that's going to work out. There's no
one out there that exists, and you can't do it.
But what if you were to do it on the
offensive side of the ball, and you did a trade,
you orchestrated a trade with say rumor has it with

(23:50):
the Washington commanders. With the Washington Commanders, you get a
couple nice draft picks that would give you the ability
to start to build towards the future, because now you're
building draft stock and draft capital. But then you bring
in Terry McLaurin. If you add Terry McLaurin to now

(24:12):
the ad of John U, now the addition of DK metcalf,
and you have Terry McLaurin on that offensive side of
the ball. I would say all that's left is do
you have a running back and can your offensive line
hold up? If your offensive line, if you're confident that
your offensive line can hold up, and you get someone

(24:36):
that can produce at an above average level, they don't
have to be a superstar, even if it's by committee.
Do you have a backfield that is conducive to giving
you the hard yards that Pittsburgh has always needed to
have to win in the AFC North. Does that make
it a more legitimized move forward? Does that actually the

(25:00):
solidify an off season that where you say the Steelers
are always defensively heavy. You just added Jalen Ramsey. If
you were to lose TJ. Watt, they are going to
have guys. It has happened before, when when Kevin Green
and Greg Lloyd left, people thought that it was going
to be hard to replace them, they replace them. When

(25:20):
Joey Porter and Jason Gilden left, as hard as it
may seem and sound, they were replaced. When these guys
have left. When Chad Brown and James Harrison have left,
they have been replaced. Do you look at it from
the historical standpoint of who you've replaced in the success
you've had at that very position that TJ. Watt is at,

(25:43):
And do you make a move that says we'll put
a younger guy in here. He's not a well known guy.
It's probably the safer move, even though you're gonna get
spanked by the media, you're gonna get spanked by the
fan base. But is it a smart, legitimate, prudent move
to unload TJ. Watt now before it's a year too late,

(26:04):
add a guy a weapon in Terry McLaurin, which would
be an amazing addition to that offense. In fact, you
would have no excuses if you're Aaron Rodgers or an
offensive coordinator on how to distribute the ball. You got
John Nehu, you got Friar move, you got you got
a double tight end set. You have so many, so

(26:26):
many groupings that you could go out there in situational
football and be in favorite like in a very very
favorable situation. Does this make sense to you to take
that approach.

Speaker 3 (26:41):
I'm not doing it day because and look, we've talked
about this before. I am at at I think getting
I think not getting a deal done with TJ. Watt
and moving on from him undoes all the good you
did this offseason. And we made this point on our show.
If you were to get rid of TJ. Watt, doesn't
it Isn't it counter to everything that you've been trying

(27:01):
to do this offseason.

Speaker 4 (27:03):
If you bring in a guy that makes Aaron Rodgers
that much more dangerous. I'm sorry, I just gotta say it.
And as a defender, as a former defensive player, it
pains me to have to say it, it really does.
But if I can improve and upgrade my offense to
that capacity, that's this. That is the Washington Commanders number

(27:26):
one receiver, that's their number one target. If you were
to bring in another one with DK Metcalf, who is
a one which by the way, I made the point,
and I made the discussion point, and I stand on it,
it's a hell. I'm gonna put my ten toes down
and stand on it. I don't think that DK Metcalf
was an upgrade from George Pickens.

Speaker 2 (27:49):
I do not.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
I think that they had the same type of character traits.
I think that they could potentially he could potentially be
an issue the same exact way Pickens was an issue.
And I don't I didn't feel as though I felt
like that's a swapper, that's a one offer, Like that's
it's a swap, it's a push. You didn't get better,
but you didn't get worse. You add Terry McLaurin, who

(28:13):
is a known character guy, high character guy, high achievement guy,
understands the gang, good team guy. And oh, by the way,
he's an Ohio Stater, so he understands the area. There's
the connection with the quarterback that just got drafted from
Ohio State.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
I don't think that it.

Speaker 4 (28:31):
Would be a bad move. I think it's a justifiable
move if you're upgrading your offense, even if it was
as significant a downgrade by letting TJ. Watt go. In
the long run, you may look at him be like, Damn. TJ.
Watt didn't have the greatest of years that next year. Dang,
he never really got back to where he was supposed

(28:52):
to get to. Maybe the Steelers pulled the trigger at
the right time. It could possibly work in their favor,
especially if you come out and offense is cooking in
the AFC North.

Speaker 3 (29:02):
Look, I love Terry McLaurin. I think he's one of
the more underrated players in the league. I just did
to sacrifice what you would lose on defense with TJ.
Watt to add Terry McLaurin. I don't think it's worth it,
especially if Rogers is only going to be here for
a year. Do you really want to part with a corner.

Speaker 4 (29:21):
But that's where again you've always you're always going to
be faced with those hard decisions. And and our guy
Bill Belichick was one of the best and greatest at
doing it. Getting rid of a guy that you was
a beloved guy was a part of the fabric and
of you know, the makeup of what the community represented. TJ.

(29:44):
Watt has done a fine job of building that type
of of uh, you know, goodwill. He's banked a lot
of good will. But that's still it's still the business
of football. It's still the business of pro sport, and
the business of pro sports says, put more points on
the board. We want to have a defense that can

(30:06):
keep points off of the board so that we can
put more up. But the name of the game, the
rule changes. Everything is geared towards making sure that the
game is a more offensively driven and stimulated game. And
if I have to lose a major, major key and
a piece to our team on the defense side of
the ball, I at least want to do it knowing

(30:26):
that I improved and I upgraded our ability to be
able to score touchdowns. And Terry McLaurin, with this group
of guys that they brought in, I think they're in
a really really advantageous position if they were to make
that type of a move.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
So, as we mentioned, they're underdogs in eleven of seventeen games.
Are the Pittsburgh Steelers going into next year? Does Terry
McLaurin coming in and losing TJ. Watt, does that take
that up or take it down? I would say that
it takes it up. I'll take I want TJ.

Speaker 4 (30:57):
Watt. That takes Wait wait wait, if you were to
lose TJ. Watt takes it up as in, you're going
to lose more games? Yeah, oh no. If I were
to take Terry McLaurin over TJ. Watt, yeah, you're gonna
lose more game. You want to lose more games, well,
then you don't do it. If if you're in the
Pittsmark Steelers and you're looking at it from that perspective,
then you don't do it.

Speaker 3 (31:14):
Yeah, I just I look if I'm Pittsburgh and I
know that you know what the odds are going into
the season. But the reality is the NFL. There's injuries,
there's you know, a couple of misplays here or there,
and teams that you expect to be good. It's why
there's so much turnover in the postseason for the most part,
in the NFL, more so than other sports, because a
couple of games here or there, like it's a fine

(31:35):
line between being seven and ten and ten and seven, like,
it's a fine line. There's a couple of moments here
there that could be make or break. So if you're Pittsburgh,
you probably look at this and go, yeah, so we're
only favored in six games going into this season if
we're able to maintain and keep TJ. Watt and get
him done, and everybody is blowing endorsement up TJ.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Watt. But if you're Pittsburgh and you go.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Least I would I would feel better about my chances
going into next year with TJ. Watt as opposed to
no TJ. Watt add Terry McLaurin.

Speaker 4 (32:10):
I think you're looking at it. You're looking at it
from a player to player perspective. I think you got
to pull yourself out of looking at it from the
Terry McLaurin to TJ. Watt perspective. It would be better
to say TJ. Watt and Aaron Rodgers look at it
from that perspective. It's the TJ. Watt versus Aaron Rodgers.
Because if you're adding Terry McLaurin, that means you're giving

(32:33):
another weapon to the person that you believe can come
in and win you more games right now if they're
being projected, because I just said, don't do it. If
you think you're gonna only win ten, you're gonna win
less games if you But if if you're projecting us
only win six games, why not take a chance. If
we're only going to be six games good with with TJ. Watt,
why not take a chance on we have Aaron Rodgers

(32:55):
at least for one season. If I have Aaron Rodgers.
And basically what they're saying is they're putting their money down,
all their money at the center of the table, saying
that we're gonna get this one good year with Aaron
Rodgers and you can add another weapon of that caliber
to his offense. I don't care who it is on

(33:19):
that defensive side of the ball. If that gets a
trade done where we can add that type of weapon
to our offense, let's go.

Speaker 3 (33:26):
Does it hurt your heart as a Pittsburgh guy and
a defensive guy to be saying.

Speaker 4 (33:30):
This, yeh, because it seems so it seems so chaotic.
You're not gonna be allowed to perman e's it seems, well, yes,
I can't because I'm a Pittsburgher and I keep it real.
Because you got a sandwich four point two runs through
these veins by guy, and that ain't gonna change. I'm
in the Pittsburgh Hall of Fame, supports Hall of Fame.
But what is your primanne sandwich? What is it? A
big fish?

Speaker 3 (33:49):
Uh?

Speaker 2 (33:50):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (33:50):
If you go to the Promaney's in State College, you
can see LeVar Arrington up.

Speaker 2 (33:53):
On the wall.

Speaker 4 (33:53):
There's a drawing of LeVar up on the wall. They
put the They put the historical sports figures of the
area on the wall. I happened to make the wall
with some pretty special people. You can see my face
on a urinal cake. I believe if you go here
but the big Fish the floor, I thought it was
the name of the company, but it was actually you
like in here.

Speaker 3 (34:13):
Dang yeah, look the Terry McLaurin situation. We can catch
up with Albert Breer next hour and see if he
knows any of the latest. That sounds intriguing, right, yea,
not the least for and I hope heard the rumors
circulating around, and it was just worth having the conversation
because to me, if you're going to put your because basically,

(34:36):
in essence, this is Aaron Rodgers' career, like he's he's
going to finish up, He's going to wrap it up.
Here in Pittsburgh, you have Mike Tomlin who could basically
you know, this could be it for him. You had
what's the name of the GM what's his name, Omar
con Omark Cohn. This could be the end of his career.

Speaker 4 (34:54):
Damn. I mean in Pittsburgh, it could be the the
It could cost a lot of people there jobs if
this doesn't work, if the stakes are this high, if
the stakes aren't as high, you've made this many decisions
and this many moves to try to make your team better.
Are you telling me in a in a decision and
a movement in an offseason where we could possibly save

(35:17):
our jobs and put us in a position to build
our team for the future by creating draft capital, that
you would not sacrifice a player, even of the caliber TJ. Watt,
You would not sacrifice him for that. It's just as
someone's one of them hard questions is what you get
the big dollars for? But it's worth discussing because I'm
giving Aaron Rodgers as many weapons as I possibly can

(35:41):
and adding Terry McLaurin and some some strong draft capital
with doing that, it just seems like it might be
the right decision to make.

Speaker 3 (35:49):

Yeah, let's go.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
Time.

Speaker 7 (37:00):
Come on, all right, guys, come on, big night in
La milestone moment for Clayton Kershaw, just the twentieth pitcher
in league history to record three thousand career strikeouts. And
here it was on Am five seventy one, two pitch strike.

Speaker 8 (37:18):
Three, cold buds. He got a little slider strike out
number three thousand for Clayton Kershaw history at Dodgers Stadium.

Speaker 7 (37:32):
Obviously, Kershaw hasn't quite been the same in several seasons,
but great to see him finally achieve that greatness at
home in front of the Dodger faithful at Chavez Review.

Speaker 4 (37:42):
He was getting lit up early, did not look good.

Speaker 7 (37:46):
It didn't look like he was gonna make it through there,
but he pulled it off because Dave Roberts.

Speaker 3 (37:52):
I don't want to say gambles the right word, especially
in today's sports climate, but Dave Roberts, he pulled him
after sixty nine pitches in Colorado because he wanted to
set it up or again Colorado because he wanted to
set it up to where he could do it at
home in front of the crowd. And it wasn't until
his last, last inning, last pitch that he was able

(38:13):
to get that third strikeout. But other than that, it
was it was not looking good. And then Freddie Freeman
walking it off at the end was appropriate.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
That was perfect. So good good night for the Dodger fans.
Got to love those magical moments.

Speaker 7 (38:23):
All right, Horness, we're gonna say this one's for you
in the in laws. Well, US men's national team captured
a two to one win over Guatemala to advance to
the Gold Cup Final taking place on Sunday against Mexico. Yeah,
this is one of This is of course, last major
competitive tournament for the US as they prepare for the

(38:46):
World Cup next summer.

Speaker 4 (38:47):
Now, look good, guys, Guatemala's.

Speaker 3 (38:52):
Okay, I will so this This sets up the Mexico
US final again, correct, all right?

Speaker 4 (38:56):
Now they do not like each other. No, no, there's no.
I mean maybe the stakes are There's been reports of
bags of urine being thrown on the field players.

Speaker 3 (39:08):
You know, it gets a little gets a little spicy.
I have a strict policy. Okay, root against whoever the
in laws are rooting for. Okay, right, So go USA,
and I just hope that I'm in a crowd, a
room full of the in laws to where I can

(39:28):
go ahead, a room full of what, well, just a
crowd with enough people. Because I was at I read this.
I was at a Mexican restaurant. I was at a
Mexican restaurant and they were playing the Netherlands in the
World Cup back and I think it was twenty twelve,
and I remember my I was with my wife and

(39:48):
girlfriend at the time, and we were there and it
was I mean, there was guys sitting there with the
Mexican flag draped around him, and I didn't have a
rooting interest at all.

Speaker 4 (39:56):
We're just watching that. I looked around. I was like, oh,
let me go and start this.

Speaker 3 (40:00):
So I started live betting on the Netherlands, and I
didn't think they had any shot at winning. Mexico gave
up a goal with like two minutes left and then
lost it in the extra time, and I looked around
and everybody was just mortified. I thought it was hilarious.
I'm sorry. I grew up a Cubs fan. I got
the right.

Speaker 4 (40:17):
You gotta be a being careful doing that with this one.
That's just got to be careful right now. I mean,
I'm just saying you won't be politically correct. No, well,
look they I mean I understand. No, listen, there's I
guess if people want to take it that direction, they can.

Speaker 3 (40:35):
I'm looking at from a soccer standpoint. Okay, you know,
I'm just root against the opposite team. That's fine. We've
talked the best before. One of the great joys in
a man's life is when you can root against your
buddies team.

Speaker 4 (40:48):
Oh yeah, it's just a wonderful moment. And so some
of the best fights in Hubs after.

Speaker 3 (40:55):
Like, you don't even care about the other team, you
just want your buddies team to lose.

Speaker 4 (40:58):
Oh.

Speaker 7 (40:59):
One of my best friends has always been a Kings fan,
and when they were up to oh on the Warriors
a couple of years ago to finally win a playoff
series for the first time in forever, and then they
ended up losing to the Warriors.

Speaker 4 (41:13):
It was such a great feeling.

Speaker 3 (41:15):
Yes, really it makes us sick, but there's something about it.
You can't explain it. And she'll ask me all the time, like,
why do you just root against the other team when
you know we're all rooting for Mexico or whoever? And
I was like, because that's what I do. That's what
guys do. There you go, it's what we do.

Speaker 4 (41:34):
I mean fun.

Speaker 7 (41:35):
Nobody wants to be at the bottom of the pile,
so if you can somehow find someone else to drag
down and throw them underneath, You're like, that's exactly where
we want to beat.

Speaker 4 (41:48):
You do not want to know what happens at the
bottom of the pole. Ups what happens, Oh, All kinds
of screaming, hollering, just very inappropriate things happen at the
bottom of the pole. You don't want to be in
the bottom nay and prodden. Oh no, it's like more
like grabbing and twisting, God, pinching and pinching, pinching and pooling.
Yeah no, no, let's go to break. I'm just say,

(42:10):
don't want to go any deeper into this. Oh God, boss,
why is that trial over? It is?

Speaker 2 (42:19):
Can we talk again?

Speaker 4 (42:21):
Can we talk freely again? I just yeah, I want
to know, damn.
