(00:24):
Friday at this hour or two. I'm telling you, this
new college football world got me all geeked up. Miami Hurricanes, Braby,
the swag is back, Tredd d Chamblis, Oregon in their
amazing uniforms, and then there's Indiana. This is crazy. Had

(00:46):
so much fun yesterday. I don't know what my new
Year's resolution is gonna be. I don't think eating four
giant chicken enchiladas was on my bingo card, but that's
what I did yesterday. I just ate all day and
am gloriously happy for it. So last week we took
all dogs. I don't do that a lot, at least

(01:07):
this year, and we were two and three. Let's end
our blazing five. We've had a good year, fifty eight
point three percent. Let's end it on a strong note.
Here we go.

Speaker 2 (01:19):
Let's blaze it up right up, It's Collins blazon fuck
Seahawks at forty nine ers.

Speaker 1 (01:25):
Winner gets the number one seed. I like Seattle minus
one and a half. They've won ten of their last
eleven games. They're only lost two points on the road
against the Rams. They've been a great road team. Sam
Darnold five and one against his former teams. I like
the more athletic, younger, deeper roster JSN back to back
one hundred yard games against the Niners. Secondary. We know

(01:47):
Seattle on the road is really good, almost better than
they are at home. San Francisco is one in three
against the Rams, Texans and Jags this season. Second game
on short rest defense, it's just not very good. I mean,
you saw Caleb Williams tear it apart. I think Seattle
controls a lot of the time of possession and wins close.

(02:10):
I'll swallow the point and a half. Seahawks went on
the road, as they often do. Twenty seven to twenty three.
Brown said Fingals. I've been taking the Bengals recently a lot,
and I like him here. They're coming off back to
back twenty ploys twenty point dominating wins. They've scored thirty
plus points in for their last five games. Burrow's always
been good in December and January, go back to when

(02:33):
he started, and the offense is not turning the ball
over back to back games. Burrow and the Bengals give
them credit. They don't have anything to play for, but
they're playing like they do. And the Browns offense is
turnover prone. Shador Sanders seven picks over his last three games.
Judkins is out in Joco and Fan and the tight

(02:53):
ends who are good are all banged up. Shaduor Sanders
against Burrow feels like a major, major disadvantage. I like
the Bengals to win and cover thirty to twenty one.

Speaker 2 (03:06):
Lions at Bears.

Speaker 1 (03:07):
I'll take the Bears minus two and a half at home.
Caleb Williams, even going back to last year, has always
been good at Soldier Field. They've won six straight home games.
Number three rushing offense and the Lions cannot stop the run.
They have allowed one hundred and fifty plus rushing yards
in three straight games. This matchup favors Chicago again. Caleb

(03:30):
at home even last year, is a little bit more comfortable.
Detroit what are they playing for? Twenty third ranked defense.
I like Chicago's ability to run the football consistently setting
up some big plays down the field for the Bears.
Take the Bears to win and cover. Twenty eight to

(03:51):
twenty four. Cardinals at Rams. Sean mcvayh has ticked off
Rams to win and cover. It's a get spot for
LA lost to Atlanta, and Sean McVay said after, Yeah,
the starters will play. They've outgained opponents in six straight games.
They're twelve and one this year. When they have one

(04:13):
or fewer giveaways in Arizona's defense is atrocious. Cardinals have
lost eight straight. Five losses have been blowout losses since
Week ten. Arizona's got the worst scoring defense. So again,
when Stafford's under pressure, he's one quarterback. When Stafford is comfortable,
he rolls. I think Sean McVay would pour it on

(04:36):
if he could. Thirty one twenty they win and cover
the spread.

Speaker 2 (04:43):
Ravens at Steelers.

Speaker 1 (04:44):
Here's my one underdog. I think it's close. I'm going
to take Pittsburgh to cover the spread. Ten of the
last eleven meetings with these two teams have been one
score games. Pittsburgh nine to two. In the last eleven,
they're plus eleven and turnover margin. Pittsburgh does not turn
the ball over. Baltimore I think is better, but they

(05:06):
do nine giveaways over their last five games have the Ravens,
and that's like second worst in the league. So Baltimore's
got the talent. Baltimore I think is better. Dereck Henry
has never been great against Pittsburgh. Rokwan Smith, Kyle Vanni,
Ronnie Stanley kind of banged up. I think it's your

(05:27):
classic Steelers Ravens game. I wouldn't be shocked if the
Steelers don't have a defensive touchdown. Baltimore's got the better offense.
I think they win late. I'm taking the hook Baltimore
twenty one to twenty, but I'm taking the points. Jmack
observation thoughts. I don't take a lot of favorites last week.

(05:49):
I have most of the year. The Rams generally I
would not take them, but McVeigh after the Falcons law
was in no mood to let us starter's rest. I
think they pull it off.

Speaker 3 (06:06):
Yeah, I like your Rams case. I'm gonna be backing
them based on hearing that. I am curious this Lions
Bears game. Very interesting revenge spot for the Bears. Remember
they got smoked by thirty in Detroit earlier this year.
But Dan Campbell his guys don't pack it in and
mail it in week eighteen one two three can Coon.
He doesn't operate like that. I don't know what to
make of that game, so I'm staying off it otherwise,

(06:27):
you know, other than San Frana, I like everything.

Speaker 1 (06:32):
I know that all right, here we go RG three,
Robert Griffin the third is joining us live. I love
that it can do NFL in college. So I got
to start with this because we both love college. But
what's great to see again? Happy Holidays, Happy New Year
to your beautiful family. I gotta tell you is I
love Miami and I'm gonna throw this at you. So

(06:56):
Ohio States. Last two games, Ryan Day takes over the play.
They score ten and fourteen, And I think Ryan's a
great coach, but I think it's very difficult to suddenly
pivot against the two best defenses you play. I don't
know the run game, the O line. I think some
of it is Robert and we and I like Ryan,

(07:17):
but I think some of it is that's a weird
transition when you face two great defenses.

Speaker 4 (07:22):
Yeah, Colin, You're one hundred percent right.

Speaker 5 (07:24):
It's a very weird transition, especially when you haven't been
doing it the entire season. So you know, you see
some of these teams, you know, Ole Miss, you know what,
Charlie Weist Junior, you know, allowing him to continue to
coach through the playoff Oregon will Stein. If you're really
trying to win the big one, you don't want to
make that drastic of a switch at the last second
when your head coach has been mostly focused on managing

(07:45):
the team, managing all these agents with nil and the
transfer portal open, and now all of a sudden, hey,
we want you to call plays that you haven't. You
haven't done this all season, in a number of seasons.
That's why I think. You know, Brian Hartline, you know,
being a new coh to South Florida, it would have
been great if he could have continued on for Ohio
State to really have a real shot and making this happen.

(08:08):
They didn't in Miami took advantage of it.

Speaker 1 (08:10):
What do you make, Fernando Mendoza, I know it's college,
but what do you make as a pro prospect. He's
a little corny after games, but I gotta tell you
size matters. He's big. His receiving core is Becker cashes everything.
I love Mendoza. You know, I'm an old school I

(08:32):
like my quarterbacks, you know, to be more formal and
traditional and kind of you know, thank you and please,
And I know, what do you make of him?

Speaker 5 (08:41):
No, I love Fernando Mendoza because Banana Mendoza knows who
he is. And I've seen some of the memes of
like he sounds like chat GBT when you ask him.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
A question after a game. It's funny. It really is funny.

Speaker 5 (08:53):
But the thing I love about him is he's going
to process, he's going to do it well, and he's
going to do what his team needs him to do.

Speaker 4 (08:59):
Goes, goes fourteen to sixty. He doesn't throw the football
very much.

Speaker 5 (09:02):
Why because Kaylen Black and Roman Himby went off and
the offensive line control the line of scrimmage and they
literally ran over Alabama. So I love Fernando. I think
he's the first round pick. I think he's a top
ten pick. I think coaches are gonna love him. He's
a big kid. Like you said, size does matter. But
he can make every throw on the field, and he's
not afraid of the big moments.

Speaker 4 (09:22):
So when you have a rookie.

Speaker 5 (09:23):
Quarterback coming in, those coaches are like art, is he
gonna do what I ask him to do? Can he
make plays that maybe aren't there? With his arm, talent
and with his ability to think? And he can do
all those things. And if he gets in a great
situation with weapons around him, that's where I think he
can truly truly excel. Is he a guy that's gonna
save a franchise because he's, you know, super dynamic, off

(09:43):
schedule play type guy. No, but if you work with
him and put the right guys around him, he can
win you a Super Bowl. So I really do like
Brenana Mendoz and I think with him and Kurz Signett
you have done at Indiana is one of the best
turnarounds I've ever seen.

Speaker 1 (09:57):
You know, it's interesting, Robert, with the transfer portal, it
is it takes a while to bring in eleven new guys,
nine starters. Like I watched Miami lose Louisville. I didn't
watch the whole game, but I watch it, and the
moment to me when I bought into Miami was when

(10:17):
they beat Pitt and I'm like, warm Weather team goes
to Pitt and I'm like, oh, thirty eight seven. I
was like, And then I went that day and I
started looking at common opponents with Notre Dame and I'm like, no,
they're different, They're different. I think Miami matches up with Indiana.
I mean, what do you make about that? Because I
think Indiana and Miami just feel like that is it's destined.

Speaker 5 (10:42):
To me.

Speaker 1 (10:43):
I've watched Indiana go to Otson and really roll Oregon.
What do you make of this Miami story this year,
how they lost a Louisville and SMU and were just
kind of found themselves.

Speaker 5 (10:55):
Yeah, I think your point about Miami. It really became
something for me when they decided we're not going to
be the Carson Beck led Miami Hurricanes.

Speaker 4 (11:09):
Right.

Speaker 5 (11:09):
They paid them a bunch of money reports of four
million dollar contract, and you know, early in the year
it was like, all right, Carson, go throw us to
a national championship. And I think Mario Christaball and their
staff realize like, Okay, that's not going to be our
recipe for success.

Speaker 4 (11:25):
Not that Carson Beck can't do it.

Speaker 5 (11:27):
But the way our team is built and how we're
built at the skill positions and in the trenches is
really what's going to lead this team to success.

Speaker 4 (11:34):
And I think that's that's really any of us.

Speaker 5 (11:36):
You get a brand new toy, you want to play
at the brand new tour, and you want to make
that tour the feature. But sometimes you got to go
back to the trenches, which is where football is always won.
And that's where Baying and Mesidor and these guys up
front make me believe that college football is more like
the NFL than it's ever been.

Speaker 4 (11:53):
Colin.

Speaker 5 (11:54):
You got to be able to win upfront, just like
every level, right, but you got to have closers on
the outside. And the teams that have closers on the
outside are the ones that we're seeing playing in the
college football semifinals.

Speaker 4 (12:06):
Or they just have elite quarterback play.

Speaker 5 (12:08):
So I think Miami made the decision right in the
middle of the year to be like, you know what, Yes,
we paid our quarterback a lot of money, but this
is how we're going to win, and we just need
him to make five throws a game to win us
a game and not turn the football over. And I
think Carson Beck has has accepted that challenge and done
a great job for them down the stretch. I'm happy
for Miami third place ACC team and the College of
Balls to make semifinals. You know, you know how I

(12:30):
feel about conference bias.

Speaker 4 (12:32):
So I think there are there.

Speaker 1 (12:35):
Yeah, there are three teams in here who could be great.
I don't think Old Miss is one of them. I
don't think they're good enough defensively. I just I just
love Trinidad Chambliss. I just love him. I get little
Dak vibes. I don't think they're good enough defensively. Is
that fair that Ole Miss? It just I don't think
they can make big stops in big spots in this,

(12:55):
in this going forward? Or do you see it differently?

Speaker 5 (12:58):
I think it's fair because Georgia put thirty four on them,
and Georgia hasn't been this juggernaut of an offense all
year long. Even though I respect the guys that they have,
especially the moxie of Gunner Stockton.

Speaker 4 (13:12):
But when you look at Trinidad Chambliss.

Speaker 5 (13:13):
You see these types of plays, but he's also making
the on schedule throw. Yeah, you know the heat check
touchdown that he threw after the interception that really kind
of you know, blew the game out for them and
had them more of a situation where they felt like
they could win.

Speaker 4 (13:29):
This guy's story is incredible.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
You know, D two national champion at Fair State, zero
star recruit coming out of high school and then he's
not even the starter coming into this season. Starter goes down,
he steps in, never looks back. So I just think
this whole You know, we love stories Colin and college football.
His story is phenomenal. The fact that Lane Kiffen isn't
there anymore and Ole Miss is in the college football

(13:52):
semifinal with the coaching staff that Lane Kevin put together
is just fascinating.

Speaker 4 (13:59):
If they win the next national championship, there's going to
be a movie made about this right now? Me, you
do we should direct that movie. This is it's phenomenal.

Speaker 6 (14:08):
Man.

Speaker 1 (14:08):
Yeah, I said earlier. He's from a big rapids Michigan,
and it can't be that big because I've never heard
of it, and my wife's from Michigan. So I love
the kid's story. It's amazing. Okay, So you know I
said to most of me, at least me when I
was twenty years old, you know, you got your car's
breaking down, you don't love your boss. It's hard to
be twenty and a lot of quarterbacking in this league

(14:29):
at twenty, you usually don't get Andy Reider, Sean Payton.
You get into an organization where the GM loved you
and the coach didn't. There's politics, there's an impulsive Weok,
you know this. So Sam Darnold goes to New York.
He's twenty, he's a good looking kid. He's in New York.
He's a quarterback for an NFL team. He gets sick.

(14:50):
You know, half the people in the building aren't sure
about him, and I'm like, this is just a twenty
year old kid. Yeah, I find it. I think he's
really special, but I understand and all the reckless talk
is somebody who's played the position. I look at him
and I'm thinking, nobody can win in New York. I
looked at him at Carolina winning record. They loved him
in San Francisco, they love him in Minnesota, they love

(15:12):
him in Seattle. Nobody or do you see him as
a there's limitations, he is reckless. How do you view Donald?

Speaker 5 (15:21):
Wow, I've viewed Sam Donald as the classic case of
an organization failing a young quarterback. I've always felt this way,
Colin that, you know, because of my own experience and
what I've seen in NFL history. If you don't believe
in a quarterback, holy you know, head coach, GM owner,
don't draft him.

Speaker 4 (15:40):
Look a look at New Orleans, right. The owner loves
Tyler Shuck.

Speaker 5 (15:45):
The GM loves Tyler Shuck, and the head coach, Kella.

Speaker 4 (15:50):
Morrett loves Tyler Shuck. So what do they do.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
They allow him to make mistakes, and they allow him
to play confidently so he can play himself out of
a rut. Now, Tyler Shuck is looking like one of
the best rookie quarterbacks out there, especially win loss wise,
I know wins on a quarterback staff. But yeah, when Lark,
he's playing at a really, really high level. When you
watch the tape I called his game against the Carolina
Panthers where they won and he came back, you know,

(16:14):
late in the game to lead them to victory.

Speaker 4 (16:16):
He's confident.

Speaker 5 (16:17):
Sam Donald has one of the most special arms I've
ever seen.

Speaker 4 (16:21):
And I've known him since high school.

Speaker 5 (16:22):
You know, I went to an All Star game with
him and helped coach them, and he was talented way
back then.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
So when you look at what he's.

Speaker 5 (16:29):
Been through in his career, every quarterback now this myth
that man, he can.

Speaker 4 (16:34):
Do it by himself.

Speaker 5 (16:36):
It's just not true unless you're just a physical specimen
like Cam Newton was in twenty fifteen when he won
MVP and led his team to the Super Bowl. But
even then he still had Louke Keigley on defense and
he had Greg Olsen on offense right Steve Smith a
wide receiver. So like quarterbacks today, Colin have to have
guys around them. Sam Donald having Jackson Smith and jig

(16:58):
with this season, you know last year having Justin Jefferson
at wide receiver. That makes dividends for a QB to
the point where you hear this game manager versus game
changer conversation throw that you know, ish out the window.
That doesn't make any sense anymore. Every quarterback has to
have guys around Jalen Hurts has two number one wide

(17:20):
receivers and number one tight end. Why is Patrick Mahomes
and she struggled so much recently. Well, they don't have
a true game breaking number one tight end anymore because
Travis Kelce is older and they don't have Tyreek Hill.
It's just tough sledding for quarterbacks in this league with
how good the defensive rushes and how good the dbs
are now to not have number one type receivers and

(17:42):
number one type weapons that were tight end and running back.
So I think Sam Donald has that now, and that's
why you're seeing me excel. And I think that the
Seahawks aren't getting the credit they deserve, and it's because
of Sam Donald. No one believes that he can get
it done in the playoffs. And I wouldn't say that's
not fair, because life isn't fair. We know that otherwise
we probably would both be doing some some other things

(18:03):
that we wanted to do or whatever, even though we're
in joying what we're doing. I think Sam Donald at
the end of the day has to prove in the
playoffs by winning and going on a run that his
talent is exactly what we see. And I believe in
the young man, So I don't think he's limited. I
think he's just the right amount of reckless with the
right guys around him.

Speaker 1 (18:20):
So the the enigma of the season has been Baltimore
and Lamar Jackson, and I said this the other day,
and people are like, whoa, wha, wha. I said, Listen,
in my life, there's always six quarterbacks that if you're
the GM, you don't even take a call. It doesn't
matter if somebody offers you three number ones. You don't

(18:40):
take a call on Mahomes, Josh Allen. I wouldn't take
one on Caleb or Drake May. I'm just not there.
I'm not I wouldn't take one on c J. Stroud
or Herbert. That's my six and I'm just not taking
a call. Then there are guys Joe Burrow, and I'm

(19:01):
not going to initiate the call, but maybe injuries expense,
I'll take a call. Probably won't move him, but I'll
take a phone call on Jalen Hurts or Joe Burrow
because Burrow's one more injury away from we get a
draft the quarterback. So this whole year for Lamar is
he's twenty nine, He's missed seventeen starts, his cap hit,

(19:24):
his monstrous and all of a sudden this year RG
three Rgt. Robert Griffin, he wasn't as fast. What am
I to do with Lamar? I know he's great, but
is it possible at twenty nine that he has slightly
moved out of his prime. You watched him, it doesn't
feel the same. What is it with Art Well? What

(19:45):
is it with Lamar this year?

Speaker 4 (19:47):
Oh man?

Speaker 3 (19:48):
What?

Speaker 4 (19:48):
Okay?

Speaker 5 (19:48):
First of all, I think when you look at Joe Burrow,
Joe Burrow's actually come out and said, like I do.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
I don't know if I love the game anymore.

Speaker 5 (19:55):
And I think that that's a different conversation. Lamar has
never come out and said anything like that. So I
think Baltimore Ravens fans would burn the city to the
ground if the Ravens traded Umar tacks. And I mean
that wholeheartedly, and having been there and knowing how he is,
I did read the article that came out that was
bashing him. You know, I thought it was bush league

(20:15):
to make those statements. And coach Harball, you know the
John Harball that I know, you know, the greatest coach
I ever played for in the NFL. And I wasn't
even a starter for the Ravens. I was the backup.
But watching him operate the way he handled that when
it came to the press and he talked and he
defended Lamar, and he said, our relationship is great. If
you want to know what I think asked me that question,
and that to me, it kills it in the locker room.

(20:37):
And that's what's the most important thing here. If Lamar
Jackson had lost the locker room, this would be a
real conversation. But I've got great relationships in that locker
room still still to this day.

Speaker 4 (20:46):
They love Lamar.

Speaker 5 (20:47):
Yeah, they'd love for him to stay healthy and stay
on the field. Are they going to be more confident
with Lamar out there in this game against the Steelers,
with which is basically a playing game.

Speaker 4 (20:57):
Yeah, They're going to be much more confident with him
at qb is. He's their guy.

Speaker 5 (21:00):
The city loves him, and I've heard the rumors of
Miami may be coming and trying to snag him because
that's where Yeah, and who wouldn't want to play at home?
First of all, he would take a monstrous offer for
the Ravens to get rid of him. GM Eric DaCosta
has no interest in trading Lamar Jackson, and I think
for him, Lamar is motivated in different ways than people realize.

(21:23):
And the fact that he has been a little bit
injury prone the last couple of seasons, and the fact
that people are saying Oh he's lost his step and
he can't do this and you can't do that. He
kind of in a lot of ways reminds me of
Michael Vick, because when I was growing up, Mike, when
somebody said he couldn't throw, he'd go throw for three
hundred and fifty yards. Right when someone said, ah, he
lost a step, he'd go run for one point fifty.

(21:43):
And that's kind of what I see from Lamar Jackson
in the way that.

Speaker 4 (21:47):
He is motivated.

Speaker 5 (21:48):
He is somewhat motivated to prove people wrong, but also
to prove himself right. So I don't think they trade him.
I think he goes out and he plays well in
this game against the Steelers, and he kind of forces
Mike Tomlin to either have to take a TV job
or for the Steelers to realize that what they have
in Mike Tomlin is greater.

Speaker 4 (22:06):
And maybe they're not appreciating him as well.

Speaker 5 (22:08):
But I'm definitely rocking with the Ravens in this game,
and I think Lamar Jazz is going to prove all
those daughters wrong.

Speaker 1 (22:13):
Yeah, listen, these stories come out. I mean, the guy
in Baltimore that works for the Sun is a longtime
beat reporter, and I'm like, what am I to make
of that story? And so I think it's fascinating. I
think your depth of knowledge in the organization. I have
said this before about Lamar is that I would and
I felt this way about Elway and Denver. There are

(22:37):
certain quarterbacks that play for a franchise, but they don't
necessarily feel like the city. They're just really good players.
They play forever whatever.

Speaker 4 (22:43):
I mean.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
I love Brady, but Brady would go vacation over in Europe,
He'd hang out in New York. I didn't feel like
he felt like Boston. He was just great.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
Yeah, he's Hollywood.

Speaker 1 (22:55):
Yeah, there is no quarterback in the league that feels
I bet that's more popular within the city, the area
codes of the city than Lamar Jackson. I think he's
the most popular quarterback if you did a poll every
team in the league. Maybe Mahomes is up there because
of his success. So when you were there, do you
believe that to be true?

Speaker 4 (23:15):
No, it's it's one hundred percent true, and he is
the city. Like, let's be real. You go to.

Speaker 5 (23:20):
Baltimore and uh, you know, when I got drafted to Washington,
they call it Chocolate City. Okay, Well, if Washington, DC
is chocolate city, then god name Baltimore must be dark chocolate.

Speaker 4 (23:30):
City or something.

Speaker 5 (23:30):
So when you look at the city and how they operate,
how how rugged the city is, how tough the city is,
Lamar Jackson bodies all those things and when he comes
in the number one thing the Ravens did his rookie
year when I was there, I was there for with
Lamar for three seasons, you know, blessing honor to be
able to mentor him and see him go win MVPs
and really take over that team in the city from

(23:53):
Super Bowl Champions to Bowl MVP Jo Flacco. They never
tried to change Lamar. They never tried to change the
way he talked. They never tried to change the way
he were, his hair, they never tried to change the
way that he dressed. They allowed Lamar Jackson to be
Lamar Jackson. I, for one in my career, didn't have
that same experience. But what I loved was that this

(24:14):
is who we drafted, This is who we want you
to be. We want you to be Lamar Jackson that
embodies the city, the city cling to that and he
is like his jersey sales are crazy, and it's because
he has never changed who he is to try to
fit into something. The Raven said, you know what, We're
not going to put a square peg in a round hole.

Speaker 4 (24:34):
We're going to.

Speaker 5 (24:35):
Allow you to go be fully who you are. And
that's why he's been so successful. So yes, is he playful?
Does he lead in a different way? Huntred percent? But
that locker room would die for him because they know
that he's got their back.

Speaker 1 (24:51):
Robert, great stuff on a Friday, It's gonna be glorious
college football yesterday, excellent weekend. Seahawks and the Niners, Box Panthers,
Raven Steelers mean a lot. Great standios, Olas my man,
Happy holidays.

Speaker 4 (25:06):
Appreciate you brother, thanks for having me on you the
best come.

Speaker 1 (25:09):
Buy college football, pro football. You knows them both. I'm
in a name today, you know how j Mac Time
magazine has their person of the Year. I'm naming my
person of the Year in the NFL. Don't go anywhere.
I'm very excited.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
Person of the Year of the NFL. Can I get
a guess or two?

Speaker 1 (25:30):
No, no guesses.

Speaker 3 (25:32):
It's Brock Purdy. Did he make the final? Nobody from
the Jets. We can eliminate them obviously.

Speaker 7 (25:38):
Oh, this should be fun.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
All right, it's the hurt.

Speaker 2 (25:40):

Our person of the Year in the NFL. Around the corner, First,
j Mac with the news.

Speaker 4 (26:35):
No, no turn on the news.

Speaker 3 (26:37):
This is the Herdline News. Let's go to the Dallas
Cowboys Colin. Interesting little brush fire on the interwebs over
the last forty eight hours because of the Cowboys defense
and an interview that Matt Eberflus gave, he was asked
many questions about his future in Dallas and how the
Micah Parsons trade changed things for his approach.

Speaker 7 (26:57):
Here's what he said.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
I don't know if it changed that much.

Speaker 8 (27:01):
You know, obviously you're you have an all pro pass
rusher that wins really quick.

Speaker 3 (27:06):
That's certainly going to help any defense, if it's micaeh
or if it's Miles or whoever that might be.

Speaker 9 (27:11):
That's that that impact player is always going to help,
you know to a certain degree, you know, in past
downs and other downs.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
But you know, you can't look back.

Speaker 7 (27:22):
So here's what happened next, Colin.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
So, Michael Parsons obviously saw this on social media, did
the laughing crying emoji.

Speaker 6 (27:29):
There it is.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
And then, of course, because the internet's dumb, a lot
of people came after Michael. That's not right, that's wrong,
that's mean, And Michael responded with, you' all want me
to feel bad. Jerry Jones slandered my name to the
Cowboys media and national media for months, So I do
think I can react to comments if I want to respectfully.

Speaker 7 (27:49):
Well done, Michael.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
I don't know. I don't know. Did Jerry slander him?

Speaker 3 (27:54):
I don't yeah, he yeah, it was acting like he's
not one of the greatest pass rushers. Just in the
first five seasons of his career in NFL history, he
was acting like he was just a guy.

Speaker 4 (28:06):
It was.

Speaker 7 (28:06):
It was disrespectful. So I'm with Micah here.

Speaker 3 (28:09):
I know you like to cape up for the billionaire class,
the elites. I am a fan of the little man,
Michaeh Parsons. You know, I know he's doing well financially,
but he is the underdog here going up against Darth
Vader in the Evil Empire.

Speaker 2 (28:22):
Okay, yeah, I.

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Mean if you feel that way, or I mean I
like to see if guys get paid. I just like
paying quarterbacks, left tackles, one weapon and an interior d lineman.
I sometimes with outside of Miles Garrett, maybe Max Crosby,
I can struggle paying some pass rushers. But he's great.
There's no quie and I like that Green Bay took
a swing on him.

Speaker 3 (28:41):
So all right, they were headed potentially for the Super
Bowl Colin before this Micah injury. I mean, I like
this backers team. I have futures on them that are
up in smoke. But team Michaeh Parsons for me. All right,
let's move on to the Minnesota Vikings and a punching
bag of Colin Coward. This man will not be the
man of the Year, and that is JJ McCarthy. He
struggled in his first year starting member, he missed his

(29:02):
rookie year. But justin Jefferson is saying nice things about
his quarterback heading into the offseason. Here's Jefferson on who
he wants throwing him the ball next year.

Speaker 8 (29:13):
That's not that's not my job. Of course, I would
love for him to be here. Of course, I would
love for him to be the quarterback, especially off of
this year. I feel like he needs to show everybody
and prove to everybody that he is that top tier quarterback.

Speaker 1 (29:27):
So I would love to have.

Speaker 8 (29:28):
Him and I love to work with him and show
everybody he is that number one guy.

Speaker 7 (29:35):
Let's hear it. Come on, let's hear I'll see a smirk.
I know something's coming. Go ahead.

Speaker 1 (29:39):
No, he had his injury right now because he played
well in the last month. His durability, that's an absolutely
fair question, he said. I don't know what the numbers
are in front of me, but he's had a chance
to play like thirty games and he's played, you know,
eleven of them or something. I mean, he's just not
healthy enough. Even when I love a quarterback like Joe Burrow,

(30:00):
I'm like, guys, one more sprained ankle here, and we
got to draft a quarterback at some point. I think
Lamar Jackson's great, but he's missed seventeen games. That's a
full season over the course of like seven years of starting.
I think durability doesn't get talked about a lot. Brock
Perty's very good when he's one hundred percent healthy, So
forget all the quarterback stuff because he did get better

(30:22):
at the end of this year. He's played nine of
thirty three games, nine of thirty three.

Speaker 3 (30:29):
You know he's He's also I think the youngest starter
in the NFL. Just got to get that body right,
you know, maybe get on the Jmac workout plan and
beef up a little bit. I'm rooting for the guy.
By the way, I like the Vikings a lot. I
don't like a lot this week. I like the Vikings
against the Packers. Mash Unit final story column. Collin's Football

(30:49):
haven't talked about Arch Manning and what he did to
me Chigan in one of these exhibition games.

Speaker 7 (30:55):
It didn't mean much. Arch who you.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
Know, struggled for most of the year, came on strong late,
put up three hundred and seventy six yards four touchdowns.
He won with his arm, one with his legs, and
he was the Citrus Bowl MVP. Put that one in
the file cabinet. Here's what he said about Peyton, who
was also the Citrus Bowl MVP.

Speaker 4 (31:15):
Do you kind of have some bragging rights?

Speaker 1 (31:17):
What's that conversation going to be?

Speaker 6 (31:18):
Like? Nothing against the Citrus Bowl, but I think he
played in it twice. I don't want to have to
play in it twice. Us to be better leaders and
get this thing going. The standard is a standard Texas,
so got to keep it going and have a good
twenty twenty six.

Speaker 1 (31:32):
No, he played great, deserves a lot of credit.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
Interesting showcase game on the eve of the transfer portal.
So transfer portals now open, Colin. You know, we got
a Texas staffer here on the herd, and who.

Speaker 7 (31:45):
Are who are they getting?

Speaker 3 (31:46):
Because right now, Colin, everybody in the portal wants to
go play.

Speaker 7 (31:48):
With arts Manning. Okay, he looks really good in that game.

Speaker 1 (31:51):
Well, why would I why would I leave Texas?

Speaker 7 (31:53):
Well, here's the thing.

Speaker 3 (31:54):
Allegedly his roommate is entering the transfer portal a wide receiver.

Speaker 7 (31:58):
Why would you do that if your Arch's room.

Speaker 3 (32:00):
Reportedly some of the best receivers in the country, including
cam Coleman and Auburn. He's the number one receiver this
dude is. He looks like Jamar Chase six three to ten.
Apparently there's rumors that he could go from Auburn to
Texas and catch passes from Arch Manning. Listen, everybody was
a year early on Arch and Texas. They're really they
could potentially load up with a lot of.

Speaker 1 (32:22):
Them all the next year's quarterback class. Oh, it's good,
potentially exceptional.

Speaker 3 (32:31):
I'm just glad we've taken Julian Saying out of there.
He will be a four year starter, assuming he doesn't
get booted by laws day. Listen, next year's class, which
leads me to the whole Dante more Jet.

Speaker 7 (32:41):
Stuff, but we could talk about that later.

Speaker 5 (32:43):
I don't know.

Speaker 7 (32:44):
Do you take one this year and next year?

Speaker 3 (32:45):
Two?

Speaker 7 (32:46):
Do you You can't punt this year and look to
next year?

Speaker 1 (32:49):
The Jets have been punning for the last decade.

Speaker 3 (32:52):
Thanks for the reminder. Yeah, but Arch Manning, you never
want to go gaga over an exhibition game. He did
look pretty sharp.

Speaker 7 (32:58):
Colued no, no, no, no.

Speaker 1 (32:58):
He art takes always been. He's really athletic. If you
don't think of the Mannings as athletic, he's really athletics.
Big kid that runs well, and he got kind of
cleaned up as mechanics. I thought he played. Why watched
some of it? He played?

Speaker 3 (33:11):
Well, it's early, but we just saw Alabama look kind
of like doo dooo. I think the team to beat
in the SEC next year, it's probably I mean, who's beaten.

Speaker 1 (33:19):
Well, they've got the money. They've got it's the money
crowd and.

Speaker 7 (33:22):
Georgia they don't look like they have it stocked in.

Speaker 3 (33:24):
I think is moving on. I think it's gonna be
Texas next year. Keep an eye on our spanning.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (33:32):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping that The
Herd Line News. Be sure to catch live editions of
The Herd weekdays and noon eastern non a em Pacific.

Speaker 7 (33:42):

Speaker 3 (33:45):
Download the Fox Sports app and enter for a free
shot to win your shriff of ten thousand dollars. One
of the questions is which QB will have the most
passing yards Dak Prescott, Matt Stafford, Trevor Lawrence, or Caleb
moo Williams this week, Colin, Now you got to be
careful because some of these guys, like Dak are probably
going to play a quarter or a series and then bounce.

Speaker 1 (34:06):
Stafford goes big against the Cardinals, whose defense is allergic
to everything.

Speaker 7 (34:13):
What about Caleb Williams.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
I think he needs two hundred and some odd yards
to be the first four thousand yard passer in franchise history.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
The Lions run defense is so lean, so weak. I
think they're going to run the ball with such efficiency.
I mean maybe they're trying to generate it, you know,
kind of engineer a big passing day. That would be cool,
that would be fun. But I think they're going to
run it with some real conviction. Yeah, four thousand yards.

(34:42):
The team Chicago has never had a four thousand yard
passer and he's a couple hundred yards shy. So it
is remarkable in football, this big competitive landscape, what one
person can do. One year ago, the Lions were fifteen
and two number one offense in Pro Football. The Bears

(35:04):
were five and twelve, thirty second ranked offense. Then one
guy went from the good team the Lions, to the
bad team the Bears. And now Chicago's eleven and five,
top three offense, and the Bears are eight and eight
and they got a lot of issues. And the two
meet this weekend. And so we always talk about value
and impact. Ben Johnson has totally rerouted two separate franchises,

(35:30):
completely re routed the flights. This is not just being
a good head coach. This is being influential. That's what
this is. So you know, first of all, be very
careful ever letting great walk out in the door. But
here's here is Ben Johnson on this young team that

(35:53):
you worried if Caleb was a bust. Yeah, we don't
worry about that anymore. Here's been on this very young
and ascending Chicago group.

Speaker 9 (36:05):
Usually when you have a young team, a really young team,
they tend to ride the wave a little bit more
of going up and down. And I think we've got
we've got a really good core of veteran leaders that
keep the main thing the main thing. And they've made
my life a lot easier with this transition. And that
along with some veteran coaches, and you know, it takes

(36:25):
a lot of people to get it done like.

Speaker 1 (36:26):
That it does, and Caleb has been excellent. But for
one man to have that influence to two separate organizations.
You can go ahead and name Elon Musk or your
favorite politician person of the year. The herds first annual

(36:50):
Person of the Year is Ben Johnson. Look at that.
You go ahead and go with that Musk guy, I'm
going with I'm going with Ben Johnson. All right, big
match up tomorrow night at seven o'clock. I'll be on
the couch. I don't know about the rest of you.
Finishing off a few more chicken Enchilotte has had four yesterday,
still three left in the pan. I like Seattle. I

(37:13):
think they have a deeper roster. And you don't know
if Trent Williams plays or George Kittle. My guess is
yes to both, but I asked RG three. Was on
the show thirty minutes ago a little bit about Sam
Donald before the showdown in the Bay Area.

Speaker 5 (37:29):
Quarterbacks today, Colin have to have guys around them, Sam
Donald having Jackson Smith and Jigma this season. You know
last year having Justin Jefferson at wide receiver. That makes
dividends for a QB. Sam Donald has that now, and
that's why you're seeing me excel. And I think that
the Seahawks aren't getting the credit they deserve. And it's

(37:50):
because of Sam Donald. No one believes that he can
get it done in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (37:55):
Yeah, I'm one of these. Matt Stafford has always been
a little wreck. In fact, if you remember, for the
people that say you can't win with Sam Darnold, the
year the Rams won the Super Bowl, Matt Stafford led
the NFL and picks now, you know, back in the
old days, Nay meth lway through a lot of picks,
far through a lot of picks. Picks don't drive me crazy.

(38:20):
An unwillingness to throw the ball down the field drives
me crazy. And somebody who struggles Aaron Rodgers at times,
I feel like it's mood in his body language changes
if he throws a pick or two. I like aggressive,
throw the ball down the field. I think their bigger
issue is after JSN, I like their tight ends. Their

(38:40):
running backs are hitting miss. They don't really have a
dependable number two. Rashid Seed was supposed to be that
guy from New Orleans. Deep threat had been kind of inconsistent,
But I said earlier, I put up the ten best
players in this game. I think at the highest end,
George Kittle remains unbelievable. Christian McCaffrey's the best player in

(39:01):
the game. Kittle and Trent Williams are two of the
best four. Jsen has established himself as the top two
to three receiver in the league. He and Darnold are
great together. But in terms of depth of talent Byron Murphy,
Devon Witherspoon, Nick Emminwara, DeMarcus Lawrence, Seattle's got the deeper, younger,

(39:21):
more athletic roster, much much better defense. But again, if
McCaffrey busts it for one hundred and forty yards, Kittle
has seven catches. Trent Williams can keep the pass rush
at Bay, then San Francisco wins the game. J McK
and I are diametrically imposed on this one. I think

(39:41):
it's closed. I think it's competitive. Seattle has been the
best road team in the league the last two years,
so and it's an our ten minute flight. I don't
think it's a big deal. I like Seattle in this game.
If I ask you, J mack, what does the game
look like to you? What kind of game, is it?
What do you you what, Franz Byre, No, I.

Speaker 3 (39:57):
Don't want to give too much away. We may be
talking about this headlines in the next hour. But yeah,
I think we're both thinking with our hearts in this one.
You love Sam Darnald. Everybody knows that. You know, when
you give out your Valentine's in a month, Sam Donald's
getting one, obviously, and when I do mine, brock Party's
getting one, right, So we're kind of thinking with our
heart over our head here. I'm worried because some respected

(40:21):
money is pushing this lineup. You see one and a half.
If you look at some certain other shops, it ain't
one and a half, it's up to two.

Speaker 1 (40:26):
Two and a half. Oh and that's wise guy money.

Speaker 7 (40:30):
It probably is.

Speaker 3 (40:31):
I don't think it's you know, Joe Public dropping twenty
bucks in Vegas is moving it. I just can't go
get some honors at home right now. Is there a
hotter team offensively in the league right now?

Speaker 4 (40:40):
That's different.

Speaker 7 (40:40):
No, I'm gonna ride that wave.

Speaker 3 (40:43):
It's just like a certain college basketball team play later today.

Speaker 7 (40:46):
Sometimes when you're hot, you.

Speaker 2 (40:47):
Got to ride it.

Speaker 3 (40:49):
But I just we'll see Sam Donald last week in
this spot for Minnesota or last season?

Speaker 6 (40:53):
How do you do?

Speaker 7 (40:55):
I forgot remember.

Speaker 1 (40:58):
San Francisco last in the league in sack.

Speaker 7 (41:01):
You see how he dodds it?

Speaker 4 (41:02):
Everybody?

Speaker 3 (41:02):
Yes, yes, San fred has no pressure, no sack, no defense.
Can Robert Sama scheme up some stuff.

Speaker 1 (41:09):
Well he will, Robert's been super aggressive. Sala deserves a
lot of credit because it's there. It should not. It
should be a bottom three defense in the league. Yeah,
they really should. It's not middle of the pack, which
is award winning when you consider what they're dealing with
injuries and lack of experience. Power three nets
