loaded up. Heard Hierarchy in a couple of minutes live

an however you may be listening. Thanks for making us
part of your day. Jmac So, we just heard during
the break it's being reported and I don't know, I'm

(00:47):
not sure who's reported in Las Vegas newspaper.

Speaker 3 (00:49):
Credible, incredible reports.

Speaker 1 (00:52):
Raiders are willing to listen to offers for star receiver
Davonte Adams Kansas City.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
You know how that willing to listen. They're already talking
to people. That's what that means. There's a lot of teams.

Speaker 4 (01:05):
We just floated a bunch during the commercial, like, there's
a lot of teams that we could use Davante Adams
for that.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Extra push to go to the Super Bowl. A lot
of good teams.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
How about your Washington commanders, how about Daniels, Terry McLaurin,
Davante Adams.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
I think Terry mclaurin's a good number one, isn't he good?
I don't think they have a need for a one.
I like, Terry, don't.

Speaker 4 (01:25):
You know this when you're when you're running hot, just
like at the crap table in Vegas, I'm going all in, baby,
give me Davante Adams and let's let's make a run.

Speaker 1 (01:34):
That guy's usually drunk and going to bed at three
in the morning, and he loses the next night. I
don't think Washington needs a number one. I like Washington,
You're just happy and content with one. I mean a
lot of the good teams. I mean, I don't think
Buffalo needs one. Kansas City would, but they probably don't
have what it takes to get it, and they like
Rashee Rice Green Bays got their guys. Detroit has I

(01:57):
mean they got two guys. I like, Oh, give me
a break.

Speaker 3 (01:59):
I like that Jamison william Yeah, he's good for one
or two catches a game.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Splash play hell not Savi, You're worthy. Everybody loves in
Kansas City. He's two splash plays a game. All right,
let's get to it.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
It's Tuesday. It's time a herd. Hierarchy heard Hierarchy.

Speaker 2 (02:16):
Time. Now go the top ten NFL teams according to
College number ten.

Speaker 1 (02:22):
I thought Seattle, missing their four best defensive linemen, looked great.
Gino Smith, that dude throws a beautiful ball, is totally
in tune with DK Metcalf.

Speaker 5 (02:35):
I like their running backs. I mean, I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (02:38):
Gino leads the NFL in passing yard second and completion percentage.
Kenneth Walker. I was blown away. Seattle didn't have their
four best defensive lineman against the best O line in
the league. You knew they wouldn't make stops. I thought
Gino was exceptional and a Monday night on the road.
Seattle at ten, number nine. Texans only loss came on
the road to the Vikings. They got housed. Didn't have
Joe Mixon, but their top eight de offense, five defense,

(03:00):
and I love c J. Strout Joe Mixon's coming back listen.

Speaker 2 (03:03):
C J.

Speaker 1 (03:04):
Stroud is a young quarterback. To see Caleb Williams this
week when he got a run game with the Andre
Swift Oh Caleb look pretty good, as good as c. J.
Stroud is, and he's got his weapons like Nico Collins.
Young quarterbacks especially, they need their running backs. Joe Mixon returns.
I like Houston nine. Number eight the Packers. It's weird.

(03:25):
They're zero and two with Jordan Love and two to
zero without him. They do lead the NFL in big plays.
I like all their structure. Listen, Jordan Love hasn't taken
a lot of snaps because of the injury, and he's
not he's not quite ready to go. Second half the
offense look better than the first half. They lead the
NFL in takeaway So Green Bay is a feisty, aggressive defense,

(03:45):
which is what their fans have been complaining about for years.
How come the defense can't be as good as the offense.
I still think Green Bay is an ascending team. It
is a young team with a quarterback that comes in rusty.
They're gonna be just fine.

Speaker 2 (03:58):
Number seven.

Speaker 1 (04:00):
I don't know what to do with the Commanders, but
they're breaking every single NFL record offensively. Jaden Daniels, we
thought he was going to be like Lamar Jackson. Light
is he or is he just Lamar Jackson? I mean
kid's incredible. I just read here this morning. He has
five total touchdowns and six complete incompletions over the last
two games. I do think the Cliff Kingsbury oca higher.

(04:23):
And we predicted this. We thought Washington would be a
playoff team. I think all flushing out the bad vibes,
the bad owner bring it an entirely new organization in
owner down for the first time in a decade. Everything
is good vibes and positivity. I don't know where it lands.
I don't know when the regression is coming. But I

(04:47):
thought Arizona was one of the better sides of the week,
and they blew him out in Arizona. But Washington at seven,
number six, I know they won last night. But that
defense on the back end, Jared Goff once again is
the strength of a team and nobody wants to acknowledge it.
In the last two weeks, he's completing eighty eight percent
of his throws. They've got an over the top receiver,

(05:08):
they have Omar on Saint Brown, they have two backs.
I like a great offensive line. Don't trust Dan Campbell
in situational football. But here's the reality. With Detroit, it
is hard not to be a good team. When you
have a dominating running game and a dominating O line
and a very capable Super Bowl quarterback, they're just gonna
win a lot of games. They're gonna mash a lot

(05:30):
of people, and it's not always going to be pretty.
I have Detroit at six, number five Buffalo. Now they're
getting some of their linebackers who were injured back. They
were a mess this past week and they ran into
a buzzsaw. It's called Lamar Jackson. He does that at
home a lot. He blew out the Niners and the
Lions last year in Miami. I'm not selling my Buffalo stock.
I think they have offensive balance between Kincaid and James Cook.

(05:52):
The rookie receiver looks special to me. I think Buffalo
is gonna be fine. They've been a roller coaster for years.
All Kansas City games look the same, Buffalo doesn't. Buffalo's
a little Dallas cowboy. They're a little Mike Tyson knockout
or unraveling. That's kind of their DNA. I still think
they're good. Buffalo five, number four San Francisco. So now

(06:12):
they're getting their guys back, Debo and Kittle. They don't
have Christian McCaffrey. But the reality is they leave the
NFL in time of possession, it's still Shanahan, Purdy, Debo Kittle,
I you Jennings, come on when this team is healthy,
whether or without Christiancaffrey, it's a really good football team.
And again Fred Warner is playing linebacker at a level
we have not seen for a long long time. San

(06:34):
Francisco at four, number three. I'll never sell my raven stock.
I'll never sell it. They look like the fastest team
in the league. If Kansas City's got the fastest defense,
they have the fastest offense. And he may never beat
Patrick Mahomes number one total offense. With Derreck Henry now
number one rushing offense, They're not very good on the
back end. Everybody's got a flaw. You start paying your

(06:55):
quarterback huge money. Everybody's got a hole. The Chiefs have
a wide receiver hole now with Rashid Rice, Ravens have
a little bit of a hole. I like Kyle Hamilton.
Maybe they have a cornerback issue, but I'm not selling
my stock. Derrick Henry leads the league in rushing with
Lamar Baltimore or Buffalo literally looked like they were waving
the flag Monday night. They had zero answers nine yards

(07:18):
of play. Number two Minnesota. I don't think it's a fluke.
I didn't buy into the Saints. I'm not sure if
I bought into the Jets after they beat New England.
I buy into this team. Everything works. Their defensive coordinators excellent,
their special teams are consistent, Their offense is amazing. They
have the tall Sean McVay as a coach. They're not
only four and oh, they're four and oh against the spread.

(07:38):
They're beating people badly. Darnold leads the NFL in touchdown
passes passer rating, and the defense leads the NFL in sacks.
It's not a star studded defense. It's not Kansas City
where you can see it completely disrupting people. And it's
the same two or three guys. It's Chris Jones every week,
wreaking habit. It's not that. But it's good, and it's
exceptionally coached. And I have Minnesota to number one. Listen,

(08:01):
Mahomes is eighteen and fourteen when trailing by ten or
more points. That's a silly stat. But the other thing
that we have to acknowledge Rashi Rice had become a
really really elite receiver and you cross your fingers, but
that's trouble. Xavier Worthy is not a volume guy, but
he isn't over the top guy. Are they going to
be at the trade deadline in the market for a receiver.

(08:24):
I'm not quite sure. They won last year without Worthy.
They didn't even have an over the top receiver. Again,
their structure so good, but Mahomes has five picks and
four have been ugly. I just kind of trust him.
Every game looks the same. I've said this for two weeks.
They look like New England. He's just very good defensively,
great coach, amazing quarterback. I mean, how many great receiving

(08:47):
cors did New England have? It always felt like they
had an element or they'd have a whelker when they
had Moss. They didn't win a Super Bowl. So my
takeaway is this is my best top ten so far.
I feel very strongly about this top and Nick Wright
is going to join me now live first thing.

Speaker 2 (09:03):
First time.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
I kind of like my top ten there, but I
kind of do. I don't think there's a lot of pushback, right.

Speaker 6 (09:11):
No, I you know, I was trying to find something
I couldn't stand about it, and you're right, it doesn't
have the glaring errors I've come to expect from the
hard hierarchy. I would I would bump the Lions a
bit that that would be my only pit knit to pick,
so to speak.

Speaker 5 (09:32):
And listen, when.

Speaker 6 (09:34):
Golf is protected, they look as dangerous as any offense
in the league. And yesterday, even without Frank rag Now
now you mentioned Seattle's injuries up front, that is noteworthy.
They were able to protect him and he played a
brilliant football game. And so yeah, as far as the
best team on the outside looking in, I know for

(09:55):
a long time people would be like, why aren't the
Jets in there? And then you can just be like,
well to just the game this weekend, that's why the
Jets aren't in there. I like it, Colin. Your Chargers
aren't there anymore. How the Mighty have fallen, but I
think they'll be back at some point. But I can't
really take any issue with it. I think this is
I think this is your best work to date. So

(10:16):
it's so far, so yeah, I like it.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
So I said this is that when you get into
a relationship, sometimes they're uneven and Aaron in the Jets
was an uneven relationship. He was rich, successful, powerful, Hall
of Fame. Sala was a losing coach. GM had to
get they missed on a quarterback. There's heat left tackle.

(10:38):
The ownership is impulsive. So this was always an unbalanced relationship.
So when SLA pushes back maybe on Cadence and Aaron's
the best Cadence quarterback easily in league history, I get
Aaron thinking, what time out defensive coach doesn't like Mike Cadence.
You guys can't do. I've seen your record before I
got here, and I do it. I think I think

(11:00):
the problem in this relationship isn't now. It's that it
was always unbalanced and Aaron's always been moody and tricky,
and I think we're seeing it in lot real time now.

Speaker 6 (11:09):
Your thoughts, Yeah, I think that is spot on. I
also think that is just one of the jets many problems.
So let's talk about the Jets. Because Colin, you call yourself,
or maybe America calls you America's honesty broker. Correct, Yes,
like that's one of your many nicknames. Okay, well, I
am trying to grow into the role of America's sports

(11:33):
media accountability broker.

Speaker 5 (11:35):
Which is we need.

Speaker 6 (11:38):
What I'm not okay with is folks watching the game
Sunday after being all in on the Jets for the
last six months and all of a sudden acting like
they're just discovering, you know what, the Jets might have
a coaching issue. Really, the thirty three win percentage but
for the last three years didn't tell you. Oh, the

(12:00):
New York Jets, who under this head coach, are two
and six with extra time to prepare. Like you mentioned
it earlier, the best coaches, you give them a bye
or a mini buye, they come out.

Speaker 5 (12:11):
This team becomes the worst team.

Speaker 6 (12:13):
And the more time you give this coaching staff to
cook something up, the worst the team is. All off season.
I said when I was skeptical of the Jets. Listen,
I like Breise Hall. I don't know that he's a superstar.

Speaker 5 (12:27):
But I like him. Oh my god, watch the games.
Look at what he did last year. I'm like, I
don't know, man.

Speaker 6 (12:33):
The final game of the year, they force fed in
thirty seven carries because they so badly wanted to have
a thousand yard rusher. They couldn't get that done. And
now fast forward to week four. They're playing the Broncos,
and the fans are mad that they didn't give the
ball to the rookie Brilan Allen on the goal line.
Not the guy who think Gary's four yards. I was
told all offseason, Oh my god, the weapons this Jets

(12:55):
team has. Like listen, Garrett Wilson's a good player. Is
he a great player? I don't know, Maybe he will
be one day. He's a good player. Oh, you're under
selling it. Guy hasn't had sixty yards yet. Aaron Rodgers
is seventy nine pass rating when targeting him, ninety nine
when targeting everyone else.

Speaker 5 (13:10):
There has been few things.

Speaker 6 (13:13):
In the in recent sports media history more mystifying than
the amount of otherwise smart people that thought a team
would assume to be forty one year old mercurial quarterback
coming off in Achilles who hasn't been good in.

Speaker 5 (13:27):
Three years, had coached by a coach.

Speaker 6 (13:31):
According to his resume, one of the least accomplished coaches
in the NFL right now, with an offensive coordinator they
tried to move off of an offensive line they put
together in the offseason, and a couple young weapons who
have shown flashes that team's going to compete for what
They were, the favorites to win the division, the favorites
to win the AFCAS, like Josh Allen retired and went

(13:53):
to a monastery. I never understood it lose. And when
they lost, if I may, and then I'll shut up.
They lost the Niners game Week one. How much do
we have to hear this? Well, that was a bad loss,
but it doesn't matter. They're gonna be four and one.
This is gonna go win, win, win, win win. Well,
you're two and two in underdogs to the Vikings. So
I never understood the Jets type, and I think we're

(14:15):
seeing it right now.

Speaker 1 (14:16):
So we said with the Steelers it was funny, we
said even when Russ. We said this before the season,
even when Russ was in his athletic prime. He wasn't
great from the pocket, and he wasn't loved in the
locker room. So Justin Fields was going to win the
locker room. He's a likable, relatable young athletic. And this

(14:37):
team can't figure out their run game or their own line.
It's a Tomlin issue. I guess they just can't figure
it out. It's never gonna be great. I do think
they got the OC right, but if you're asking young players.
So at one point, Russell's elusiveness could overcome his limitations
as a pocket guy. He doesn't have that. Justin isn't
great in the pocket either, but his athletic ability can

(14:59):
overcome that sick athlete sick. And the truth is he's likable.
Everybody in Chicago to the end liked him to the
last game. And so now basically he's starting this week,
Tomlin said earlier today. So he's the guy, and there
he's the starter. He's the starter.

Speaker 6 (15:16):
He's the starter. It's over. And by the way, I
don't think Justin Fields is going to continue to play
at this level because this last game might have been
his best game, even though they lost.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
I do think he'll have.

Speaker 6 (15:32):
A stretch of rough football at one or multiple points
this year. I still think he should be the starter
for the entirety of the year, barring injury. That they
don't have a good quarterback in waiting. They have a
thirty five plus year old who is all of a
sudden now injury prone quarterback coming off.

Speaker 5 (15:56):
Back to back awful seasons.

Speaker 6 (15:59):
I don't understand this idea at all that there is
a real question there the guy with more upside ended
up getting the job because the other guy was injured.

Speaker 5 (16:11):
He has played better.

Speaker 6 (16:13):
Justin Fields has played better, and he hasn't played brilliant,
but he has played better these four weeks. Then Russell
Wilson has played at any point in the last three years, Like,
what are we talking about?

Speaker 5 (16:25):
It is it? Listen?

Speaker 6 (16:27):
It's a sad kind of surprising end. But Russell Wilson's
time as hey, you're a no doubt starting quarterback in
this league might have ended in training camp when his
cap tightened up. I don't think we are going to
have another season where it's like our week one guaranteed

(16:48):
starters Russell Wilson.

Speaker 5 (16:49):
And so yeah, I think it's Justin Fields's job.

Speaker 1 (16:51):
I'm gonna throw this at you. We got into this discussion.
J Mack brought it up. So Albert Breer came on
my show a week ago, say keep your eye on
Belichick and Jacksonville. So I'm gonna ask you, and we
got into this, I said. And also, Philadelphia is going
to a buy. I would not be shocked if they
didn't get Belichick on the phone. I'm serious. They moved

(17:12):
off Chip Kelly winning record, Doug Peterson super Bowl. This organization,
though not impulsive, is hyper proactive. They will bail on guys.
They've got a lot of money in ownership. So I'm
sitting there looking at I'm thinking, let me ask you
if you were Belichick and the understanding is the media
stuff is fine. You know, he can pay the mortgages

(17:32):
in Nantucket, but he's going to get back into coaching.
Would you take Jalen Hurts in a passionate market, great
owner or Trevor Lawrence in kind of a circus rich
owner money? But it just it's never right. And because
I think a lot of people view Trevor Lawrence will

(17:53):
be better with the right coach and Jalen Hurts is
done and what if they're the same, They can only
win with an elite coordinator? What job if your Belichick
would you take?

Speaker 6 (18:05):
Okay, so you're I mean, you're really trying to lead
the jury, lead the witness here with your setup. So
let me make this clear. I'm a Trevor Lawrence guy
that is now becoming more and more based off of
things he did at Clemson rather than in the NFL
this year, it's unforgivable. Yep, like this, the Jacksonville Jaguars

(18:28):
have they got their doors blown off and by the
Bills every other game. With just adequate situational football and
above average quarterbacking, they would have won.

Speaker 5 (18:39):
And they're zero to four.

Speaker 6 (18:40):
So I can't defend how Trevor has played this year.
You know, I would still rather have him moving forward
than jail and hurts. Can I understand folks saying, hey,
what are you basing that off of?

Speaker 5 (18:53):
And my answer is kind of like.

Speaker 1 (18:54):
My gut, I don't know what else to tell you.

Speaker 5 (18:57):
I just think. I just think, and I can't prove
it to you.

Speaker 6 (19:00):
With that said, Philadelphia is unquestionably for Bill Belichick the
better job.

Speaker 5 (19:06):
Like it is a great.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
Ownership, a great franchise, massive talent on the offensive side
of the ball, which is where he has struggled finding
talent and the wide receivers, the running backs in particular,
and enough peace defensive lineman to work with. Like, I
know this has never happened, and this wouldn't happen. But

(19:30):
the best thing that Philadelphia Eagles could do today is
called Bill Belichick today and be like, can you be
here tomorrow? We've got ten days till our next game.
We want to take over mid season. I know it
doesn't happen, but in the NBA, just having Doc Rivers.

Speaker 5 (19:47):
They and now it didn't work out great, but they.

Speaker 6 (19:49):
Fired their coach brought someone in from the outside mid season.
If that would If you are a Cowboys or.

Speaker 5 (19:56):
A Washington fan and you found.

Speaker 6 (19:59):
Out to the Eagles have hired Bill Belichick and he
takes over tomorrow, that bums you out, like and in
pro sports you should more often do the thing that
your opponent doesn't want you to do. Yeah, so I listen,
I had the breer. I had heard a similar thing.
Steven Ruiz had mentioned it, I think a couple of

(20:20):
weeks ago about there being a lot of Belichick Jacksonville rumors.
I think that would be a fine spot for him.
But yeah, if for Philadelphia, given the talent in place,
you have to think that would be a great landing spot.
And I know we're all talking for the twenty twenty
five season. I don't hate the idea of him taking
over somewhere early in a season.

Speaker 5 (20:39):
See if you can get it turned around.

Speaker 1 (20:40):
Yeah, And it's also interesting, Nick, because you know Bill's
doing a good job at what he's doing. But Parcells
a couple of times went into broadcasting, and the minute
he got an offer, Bill was right back into it.
Is the truth is Sean Payton, Parcells, Belichick. There's too
much working upstairs. They're still close to I mean, I
know Bill seventy, but Bill's still the best of we

(21:00):
ever had in the league.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
But and he wants the record.

Speaker 6 (21:03):
He wants the Shula's a he wants Shula's record.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
B His boat is called.

Speaker 6 (21:09):
Eight rings, not six rings, because he counts the ones.
He wants a coordinator. So this is a guy that
cares about those things. And see, nobody with that much
money is taking a sixth and seventh job for the money.
He's doing it because he loves football that much and

(21:29):
wants to stay in the public eye.

Speaker 5 (21:31):
So he is coaching somewhere next year.

Speaker 6 (21:34):
And again, like, I think the Bills are gonna be
good throughout the year. But as a Chiefs fan, you
know what terrifies me is the idea of Bill Belichick
head coach of the Buffalo Bills. Like all of these
teams that have a core in place but haven't quite
been able to get to where they're trying to go
to and don't need Bill to you know, rebuild the franchise.

(21:59):
Those teams would almost all of them be better off
with Belichick. So yeah, it's going to be somewhere. And
if I were a team that thinks I'm going to
fire my coach, I would consider doing it early to
try to snatch him up early.

Speaker 1 (22:11):
Nick, Right, we agree, first things first? After us, well
the Jets. You think Robert sala is gonna be back?
Will Belichick back with the Jets?

Speaker 5 (22:19):
How about that?

Speaker 3 (22:20):
No?

Speaker 6 (22:20):
No, I don't think that's gonna happen either, see.

Speaker 1 (22:23):
Nick, No, you know it's it sounds crazy, but Philadelphia
is going into a bye the Knicks Ariane thing. It
was bad in the it was bad last season, it
was bad in the off season. It's terrible. It sounds crazy,
But if you know, just ask yourself this. If you
ran a business and you clearly knew and identified our CEO,

(22:43):
is not it? Why are you waiting? I mean we're
in We're going into week five, We're not even a
third through the season. It's not like you know it.
Just you say to yourself, what Bill knows? Had a
coach the staff right now now, some would be replaced.
But if you're Bill Belichick and you only had one team,

(23:07):
that was interested in you. There is no guarantee that
you're gonna have multiple great teams interested. Philadelphia is a
great franchise. If you got to call, you wouldn't pick
up the phone. I don't know. It seems to me
would Bill be the front runner for this job in
the off season? Ask yourself this, if some hot shot

(23:28):
offensive coordinator, remember the Eagles don't historically Howie Roseman reluctant
to hire a Harball or somebody of great power, That's
my question. Would Philadelphia do that? Would Howie Roseman do that?
And just because Bill's gonna want saying personnel and how
he's the personnel guy. He runs it in Kansas City,

(23:50):
Brett Veach and he doesn't have any interest in that.
But Belichick's gonna have keen interest in that. Pete Carroll
has wanted to say in that, Mike Tomlin probably wants
to say in that. So is Philadelphia willing to go there?
But if you don't think Belichick could win this year
with this team, I don't know I think he could.
You could say what happened in New England, Well, the

(24:13):
Mac Jones thing isn't the Jalen Hurts thing. We've seen
Jalen Hurts Vye with the right coordinator. And by the way,
who would Belichick bring in Josh McDaniels. So he's got
the offensive guy. That's not the issue. He's got the
offensive coordinator. I mean, I seriously, if you told me
tomorrow there was a rumor Belichick and Josh McDaniels are

(24:34):
going to Philadelphia, it would not be crazy to me.
You're just rolling your eyes. It wouldn't be nuts.

Speaker 4 (24:39):
Well, if you say Josh McDaniels, I kind of throw
up in my mouth reflectively, given the last like five
years where he's been a train wreck and like goes
everywhere and thinks he's running the show.

Speaker 1 (24:49):
He's not a head coach, Daniels. North Turner was not
a head coach. He was an unbelievable ta tell me.

Speaker 4 (24:56):
What Josh McDaniels has done outside of the Tom Brady's
caddy in New England.

Speaker 1 (24:59):
Tell me, well, what's wrong with that? He's got a
bunch of rings.

Speaker 3 (25:01):
Oh it is Tom Brady showing up.

Speaker 4 (25:03):
No, he's announcing. No, I don't want Josh McDonald's made
Jones a pro bowler.

Speaker 1 (25:10):
That's pretty impressive. Made Mac Jones a Pro Bowl.

Speaker 4 (25:13):
Wonderful mac Jove didn't he almost win the heightsman in
college because he had a stack deck.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
It's Alabama, Oh my gosh, one season.

Speaker 1 (25:20):
You watch Alabama this weekend. They're pretty good, decent, they're
all right.

Speaker 3 (25:25):
You're okay with Josh McDaniel's being the EDC.

Speaker 1 (25:28):
By the way, what is wrong with people in life who,
over the course of their life professionally are unbelievable at
one job. They experiment and do other things. Doesn't work
as well, so they go back to that job. I mean,
how many CEOs get run out of buildings. They were
great at one place, small company, They go to a
big company. It doesn't work at unravels, they go back

(25:48):
to the small company. That's okay. You know what, you
don't have to be Michael Jordan tried baseball. It didn't work.

Speaker 6 (25:54):
Right.

Speaker 5 (25:55):
Randy Moles tried basketball. It didn't work.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
If you're great at one thing and you experiment and
chances and failed, hallelujah.

Speaker 3 (26:02):
Like you are you hearing that's a package deal anywhere.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
But you can't reduce Josh McDaniels too. It was just Bradian.
He was the sharpest offensive coordinator in the league. That's
why I kept getting job offers Chris Ballard.

Speaker 4 (26:18):
Fifteen twenty years ago. Lots changed, Colin, Come on.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
You really do you think he's running the wing tea
if he goes to Phillip might he might be.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
I don't know. Didn't that what he run with Tebo
in Denver?

Speaker 1 (26:29):
If you have ten years of success, like my Hall
of Fame line, Jim Rice Boston, to me was the
best power hitter I felt in the American League for
ten years, that's a Hall of Famer. I don't need
to argue about it. Like if you're ten years you're
great at anything, that's like Hall of Fame. And I'm
not saying Josh McDaniels is a Hall of Famer because

(26:50):
he was a coordinator, not a head coach. But for
ten years or whatever the number was, Josh McDaniels was
the guy in this league. I'm not you can't take
that away from him. And Belichick's not easy to do
deal with, and Tom is demanding. I mean, this was
not the easiest job in the world. I mean, Bill
ran through some coaches.

Speaker 7 (27:05):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:06):
The guy who created MySpace was on top of the
world for like I don't know, five years.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Where's that guy today?

Speaker 4 (27:11):
I just feel like, probably in a yacht somewhere. I
think he's out of money at this point. But uh,
my guest would be McDaniels is done in the NFL,
I would hope, So come on, get creative, get some
new blood in there.

Speaker 3 (27:23):
Treads? Is that what you wanted to bring on?

Speaker 5 (27:25):
Retread?

Speaker 1 (27:25):
Nick Sirianni was new blood, new blood? Brandon Staley was
new blood. I like, I like my old blood.

Speaker 3 (27:33):
Jamiico Ryans is new blood. Okay, yeah, work and I could.

Speaker 4 (27:36):
We could play this all day. I just don't want
Josh McDaniels anywhere near Jalen Hurts. Oh my gosh, Please
don't wish that upon him. I kind of like, Josh,
are we going to beef over this? You're you're like
a Josh McDaniel's guy.

Speaker 1 (27:49):
I'm saying, anybody in any industry that for ten years
is part of the greatest dynasty in the history of
the league gets credit. I'm not taking anything away from Okay, So, okay,
here's break Gregs Spags. Try to be a head coach
doesn't work. Spags is unbelievable. He's the best coordinator in
football offensive defense, that's the best coordinator football. I'm not

(28:13):
taking that away from him. I mean, can you imagine
in your life if somebody went to you and you're
eight years old and said I love football, and they
said you're going to become the greatest defensive coordinator in
the NFL for a ten to twelve year stretch. You
don't think your parents will be proud. You don't think
that's amazing. Not everybody gets to be Don Shula. Don
Shula had Dan Marino. It helps. I mean, not everybody

(28:35):
gets to be Belichick. Who gets Tom Brady. So, I
mean the idea that you have to be the number
one reeltor in town to be a good realtor Spags
is unbelievable. Josh McDaniels was Spags on the offensive side,
and I don't even know how long he coordinated in
New England because Charlie Weiss was there and there was
other I mean at one point.

Speaker 4 (28:52):
I just I know, we've seen some data of McDaniels
without Tom Brady and it's ugly, it's very carry out, But.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
That's the greatest quarterback that's ever played the game. You
want to know what the data is on Eric Spolstro
when Lebron left, not very good for three years.

Speaker 3 (29:10):
And then he bounced back though.

Speaker 1 (29:11):
Well because he's got Riley and Mickey Errison and it's
the best organization arguably in the league top to bottom. Yeah,
you just your thing is like if you're not number one, And.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
No, I totally did.

Speaker 4 (29:23):
I mean, I've seen enough of McDaniels that I like
when you bring in these new offensive minds, preferably someone
from the Shanahan tree, since they're all successful, That's what
I would do as opposed to bring in McDaniel's.

Speaker 3 (29:37):
But if Belichick's calling the shots, I don't know.

Speaker 4 (29:39):
Yeh.

Speaker 1 (29:41):
By the way, if you only judged people on what
they did as a head coach, what would you say
about Cliff Kingsbury, who is literally looks like he's five
years ahead of the league in Washington. Kingsbury's temperament didn't
work as a head coach. He's not a barker. He's
not gonna hold you account.

Speaker 3 (30:01):
He did get Arizona to the playoffs, which.

Speaker 1 (30:03):
I said ten times, and you kept killing me every
time I said.

Speaker 3 (30:05):
Well he got once they lost.

Speaker 8 (30:07):
But similar to Josh m daniel's got mac Jones, Ziff
Kingsberry is one of the sharpest, most creative quarterback developers
on the plane.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
Agree didn't work as a head coach, that's okay.

Speaker 3 (30:22):
I woudn't give him another shot as a head coach.

Speaker 1 (30:24):
I'm not sure I would. I don't think he wants it.
I don't think he I don't think Josh McDaniels wants it.
I think Josh has a lot of money and is like,
you're gonna pay me four million bucks to go to
Philly be the coordinator.

Speaker 3 (30:37):
We're gonna pay him all the money.

Speaker 4 (30:38):
Then he went and turned tail halfway, you know, after
accepting the job. So, I mean, we just know McDaniel's character, and.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
I don't know his character. It seems fine. He turned
down a job.

Speaker 3 (30:48):
Forget about Denver.

Speaker 4 (30:49):
When he went there, met with Jake Cutler, said you're
not for me, ran him out of town.

Speaker 1 (30:53):
Ja Jay Cutler wasn't for a lot of people.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
NFC Championship.

Speaker 1 (30:59):
How come Jay Cutler can't land a broadcasting job full time.

Speaker 3 (31:01):
Maybe he's not good of broadcasting.

Speaker 1 (31:03):
Maybe maybe he's hard to deal with everywhere in his life.
I got nothing against the guy, but I know people
that knew him in Chicago he was a lot. He
was a lot. So if Josh walks in and identifies
I had Brady, I know what it looks like. Jay Cutler,
You're a pain in the butt. Get out of here.

Speaker 2 (31:18):
I'm not going to blame him on that one more heard.

Speaker 1 (31:30):
Okay. According again to a report out of Las Vegas,
the Raiders are growing open to the idea of trading
Devonte Adams. So where would he potentially go? Keep your
eye on the Cowboys. They have almost twenty four million
dollars of cap space. They're incredibly seed lamb reliant. Dakzowa

(31:53):
has been better when he has more weapons. I mean
there's teams like the n They're not going to go
for it. Uh Cleveland. I don't think he'd want to
go there, New England. Devonte's already said not interested. I
don't think the Lions need him. Raiders commanders have some
cap space. I would stay away in Washington. Everything's working.

(32:17):
Terry McLaurin, you do not need a superstar receiver to
win a Super Bowl. You need good weapons, and right
now the weapons in Washington are working. In Dallas, they're
not because their defense is beat up and they need
more weapons. So Jerry's always talking about all in all
in Devonte Adams to Dallas, I mean he's played with
a big brand Green Bay. He went back Home Raiders.

(32:40):
I mean Dak Ceedee Lamb one side. This is a
flawed team with no run game. Okay, Dallas a flawed team,
old lines in flux, running back room stinks, defense banged up.
They need to be great somewhere. Dallas is great.

Speaker 6 (32:56):
Nowhere.

Speaker 1 (32:56):
You put Ceedee Lamb on one side, Davonte Adams in
the other. You are now forcing teams to make decisions.
Dak is good. The better weapons he has. To me,
this is an opening for Dallas. You're gonna get nobody
in the draft nearly this good.

Speaker 3 (33:11):
They're already very top heavy. Let me just ask you, though,
Houston with CJ.

Speaker 4 (33:14):
Strad last year had an awesome year, exceeded expectations, made
the playoffs. What did they do in the offseason. Let
me get Stefan Diggs, let me bring him in here.
So why wouldn't Washington seeing that model quarterback on the
rookie deal.

Speaker 1 (33:26):
Go out.

Speaker 3 (33:27):
Terry mclaurr's good. Nico Collins is good in Houston.

Speaker 1 (33:30):
Let me bring a Devonte Washington.

Speaker 5 (33:31):
The issues are not offense, that's true.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
They're on defense.

Speaker 1 (33:34):
They're a mess on the back end, So Washington. Dan
Quinn saying, I'm a defensive coach. I've seen good defense.
We got holes everywhere, So Washington offense, don't mess with it.
Don't mess with Washington's offense. I'm arguing I've seen Dallas
try to get in shootouts in the last year with
Green Bay and Baltimore and the Saints, and they don't

(33:55):
have the weapons.

Speaker 3 (33:57):
How about the Colts, Anthony Richardson, Pittman Davante.

Speaker 1 (34:00):
If I can go to Dak and Anthony richards I
go to Dak.

Speaker 3 (34:05):
It's the price point.

Speaker 4 (34:06):
Is Jerry Jones gonna part with a first and a
third or whatever it's gonna take.

Speaker 1 (34:10):
By the way, Davante played with Mike McCarthy for five seasons.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
He likes to ovey that, well, we don't know if
McCarthy's gonna be there much longer.

Speaker 1 (34:17):
Well he will if Davante Adams ends up there. I mean,
I'm Dallas that is really interesting to me. They are
a flawed I mean they cede Lamb. They're putting them
in the backfield. They are putting CD everywhere, and CD's great.
You can't be the only guy in this. I'm watching
Baltimore and Buffalo. Between those two teams got eight different

(34:38):
skill guys. I like Dallas has won and a decent
tiight end, take a break, come back live in La.
It's the Herd.

the news.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
This is the Herd line News.

Speaker 4 (35:19):
How about those vikings Collins four and oh and debuting
at as Hyatt two in the hurd hierarchy, right, I mean,
what a run it's been, especially for that offense.

Speaker 3 (35:27):
Kevin O'Connell has been great. Now.

Speaker 4 (35:29):
He did have a moment where he had an opportunity
to go up two touchdowns late against the Packers Sunday
by going forward on fourth down at the Packers four
yard line.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
It failed, Packers came down and scored. It made it interesting.
Here's O'Connell having no regrets on the decision.

Speaker 7 (35:44):
So I'm just really, you know, stating the obvious inside
that locker room and confirming to them that I believe
in them, I love them, and we're gonna ride together
and we're gonna stay aggressive while being smart. There's always
a line there. Looking back on it, I'm sure people
will wonder, you know, why that decision happens. But once again,

(36:05):
I can't really make those decisions based upon the oh no,
what could happen type thing. I'm gonna be aggressive and
always smart, and I thought we had a chance to
convert with the player that I called.

Speaker 9 (36:15):
They made a play.

Speaker 1 (36:16):
Yeah, I didn't have a problem with it. And I
think that's these games like whenever a trick play fails,
everybody crushes the coach. But when a trick play works, yeah,
nobody ever goes that was a weird time to call
a trick play. You can't just be results oriented. I
support the decision making and it didn't work. By the way,

(36:37):
the greatest quarterback of all time, if you could end
up fifty to fifty on fourth down conversions, you'd be amazing. Ye,
so's I didn't have a problem. When you have this
kind of offensive weaponry, a quarterback that moves Addison, everything's
going right for them right now. Like Kansas City's good,
but they have issues. Does Minnesota have an issue?

Speaker 4 (36:54):
Yeah, well, I wonder if they're maybe peaking early. But
the counter is t J. Hockinson hasn't played it down
for them yet. He's excellent, one of the top tight ends.
Jordan Addison looks great, Colin You if you look at
their Pro Football Focus numbers, like everything on offense, it's
like green. The offensive line is playing great. I think
they're at what's six yards per play, seventh in the league.

Speaker 3 (37:14):
Eric Jones looks awesome.

Speaker 4 (37:15):
Vikings to me right now, it's early, right, this is
a marathon, not a sprint.

Speaker 3 (37:19):
They look awesome and the Jets are beating him in London.
Next story is the Cleveland Browns. Nick Chubb.

Speaker 4 (37:26):
Remember when he had the season ending knee injury in
Week two last year, Well, he spent the first four
weeks of the season on the pup list, but Chubb
is expected to return to practice tomorrow for the first
time since he rehabbed after last year's surgery.

Speaker 9 (37:41):
All working very hard. Natural progression is for him to
start practicing. He's ready to do that and then well
we'll see how he goes from there. But really not
focused much much farther past Wednesday.

Speaker 1 (37:53):
Yeah, all quarterbacks are good and better for the top
running back CJ. Stroud Deshaun Watson.

Speaker 5 (38:01):
They need him.

Speaker 4 (38:01):
I mean, Chubb was a top three or four running
maybe top number two after McCaffrey before the injuries. I
just this is gonna be a big shot in the
arm for the Browns. I think we talked about their
matchup this weekend. It's against Washington line with three and
a half yesterday, what is it now down to three?
So there's some money on the Browns. They just need
some leadership, some positive vibes. Things do not look good

(38:24):
for Watson right and the offensive line's injured.

Speaker 6 (38:30):
I think I like Cliland.

Speaker 3 (38:31):
I gotta whisper it because I'm kind of embarrassed to
say it.

Speaker 1 (38:33):
I doubted Washington last week. I did as well with
a dysfunctional franchise.

Speaker 4 (38:38):
And you doubted them against the Bengals too, so did I.

Speaker 1 (38:41):
I don't like their defense, but what they're doing offensively,
it doesn't make historic sense. So I'm just gonna ride it,
watch it, stay away until they lose. But right now,
I don't see any regression offensively.

Speaker 4 (38:51):
Yeah, I'm curious how they do. I think this one's
outside in Cleveland. Oh no, no, this is in Washington, Dan,
that's Brown's on the road. Oh, she's what about doing that?

Speaker 3 (39:02):
Crazy? I thought it was at home, the mistake by
the Lake.

Speaker 4 (39:05):
Let's wrap up Colin with a the story of Pete
Rose's passing yesterday at the age of eighty three years old.
The former Cincinnati Red was known for being MLB's all
time hit leader with two hundred and fifty six hits,
as well as his hustling style of play. Rose has
received had received a lifetime ban from Major League Baseball

(39:27):
in return for the league not making a formal determination
about whether or not he had bet on baseball.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Rose passed away at eighty three.

Speaker 1 (39:36):
Yeah. He You know, it's a complex legacy because when
I loved baseball in the seventies and eighties, Pete Rose
and George Brett and Johnny Bench were at the heart
of that. And you know, his nickname was Charlie Hussel.
And off the field he was a bit of a hustler.
I mean, he had been more honest in his life,
he wouldn't have been in nearly the trouble. Eve always said, like,

(39:59):
I to be able to separate art from artists. I
do this with actors, I do it with music stars.
I do it with athletes, Like you're great there, wouldn't
want to be your friend, wouldn't trush in a business deal,
but I think you're an amazing athlete, and a lot
of that is how I feel about Pete Rose. I
was in his company three or four times. He was
good natured, he was funny. But you know Pete was

(40:20):
Pete's own worst enemy. Had he just been honest with
commissioners up front. He wasn't honest until he thought it
could benefit him into the Hall of Fame. And in
the end, you know, it's honesty helps and he wasn't often.
But again, as a kid, when I love baseball, there
were two or three players that got me to a
TV and George Brett was one of them. From right
down the Street in nel Segundo and Pete Rose was

(40:42):
another one of them, and his style like Brett, it
was high intensity, incredibly passionate, get everything out of your talent.
But you know is you know our athletes have a
little bit of that artist gene, whereas they sacrifice other
parts of their life. They're kind of lobsided. It's all
about sports, it's all about entertainment, and you get these
lobsided people who don't they're not complete. And Pete felt

(41:06):
like there was a lot of things missing about Pete,
but the baseball part as a kid that grew up
with him, I mean he led that big red machine.
He is the kit King for a reason. There was
nobody else like him. Our three next
