You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
Here we go. It is our number two. On a Wednesday.
Joel Klatt less than four minutes Michael Irvin, last hour,
Jamack and I disagree. He says, throw those bums out
of Yankee Stadium. That's no way for men to act.
And I say, that's how men do act. When you
put them in a stadium with other men, that's what
they act. Like, punish them their season ticket holders. They

(00:48):
went across the street and were interviewed. I'm surprised the
guy when they found him across the street and they
asked him about the game. I'm surprised he didn't go
out and basically say, hey, listen, it should be Garrick,
Ruth and me in Monument Park. I'm very valuable. It's
I guess my standard is so low for men, but

(01:12):
it's like, yes, this is what happens. I should have
a higher standard. But I've been around sports for fifty years.
This is what guys do around other guys.

Speaker 3 (01:20):
Collectively, us men, we got to get our act together.
Yeah we're letting it slip. Guys, come on, step up
our game for all of us.

Speaker 1 (01:26):
Yes, that's right, all of us. So Jerry Jones talking
about Dak Prescott, I totally disagree with this, and I'll
give you a reason why. But he talks about Dak Prescott.
He doesn't want Dak Prescott running anymore. Here's Jerry Jones.

Speaker 4 (01:39):
You really don't want to see him really take off
with that ball. These quarterbacks that run, you know they're
going to get injured, and that happens. It happens to
the youngest, happens to the best. It's happened to da.
I wouldn't say it's up there, read letters in the
practice facility, don't run, but I would say that we
want him to be smart about it, and he is

(02:00):
being spared about and I don't want to see him
take those cans of hits.

Speaker 1 (02:06):
By the way, the Cowboys need Dak to run because
they don't have a run room. It's a bad running
back group and I would say last weekend is a
prime example of why running does matter as long as
you use discretion. I just don't think Dak can run
ever since he broke his ankle. He can't run. Brock
Purdy is a great example. Brock Purdy had a really,
really rough first half against the Cowboys. He threw behind

(02:29):
Deebo Samuel. He was low. It's like an NBA player.
He lost confidence in his jumper. But yet in the
second half he was the Niners. He ended up being
the niners second leading rusher and that got his confidence back.
Throwing Justin Herbert four rushes forty nine yards crucial in
that game because they have no perimeter weapons, and Jaden
Daniels has one really good wide receiver eight rushes fifty

(02:53):
two yards. Now you don't want him to get hurt.
Kyler Murray against Miami in the second half. If you
can run, run, trust me. Defensive coordinators would love it
if mobile quarterbacks just sat in the pocket always. Now
you got to be sitting in the pocket's more important.
But between Brock perty, Justin Herbert, Jaden Daniels, and Kyler

(03:14):
Murray this weekend was a great example, especially when you
get to the second half and you're off script and
things break down and you lose an offensive lineman. The
quarterback that can get up field move the change. I'd
go to Patrick Mahomes a couple of the Super Bowl
wins for him. He's had a huge second half run.
I don't need nine of them. But I thought this

(03:35):
weekend quarterbacks who were struggling to move the ball, the
occasional dart outside the pocket is a huge, huge, unscheduled opportunity.
And when you have the weakest running back room in
the league, like the Dallas Cowboys do, I think Dak
should move more than he is this year. I just
don't think he can. He's not Aaron Rodgers or Kirk

(03:57):
Cousins immobile, but he's are those guys than Lamar Jackson.
And with that, Joel Klatt, the voice of college football
at Fox Sports, who's got the biggest game of the weekend,
the only matchup between top ten teams. This is gonna
be one for the agent somebody. It's gonna be Ohio State,
Penn State. The whole Dak take. It was a good one. Yeah,

(04:18):
that was good. You know, I spent a lot of
time on that one. Say well, think about it, every
every single quarterback. If you're going to be a great
third down team, and no average team, you know is
no great team is not good on third down. You've
got to have a quarterback steal one or two always,
unless you have an offensive line as dominant as Detroit's. Okay, no,

(04:40):
that's fine, there's exceptions. Yeah, that offensive line is the best.
There's been three great O lines in the NFL in
a decade. Dak's early Cowboy O line, the Eagles before
Jason Kelsey retired. Yeah, and this one in Detroit. Yeah,
I agree with it. Even Belichick yesterday on the other place,
was like, yeah, there's no real way to stop them,
cross your fingers and hope they run out of gas.

(05:00):
All right, So let's talk about this. So I have
been on Ohio State. I said they're gonna lose to
Oregon and they're gonna meet him in the National Championship.
But in the Oregon game, what was troubling is the
defense got gashed by a good quarterback, but mostly a
college quarterback. I watched him against Nebraska and they can't
run the football and they beat Nebraska. But if Nebraska's

(05:24):
play calling, in my opinion, would have been a little
more creative in the fourth quarter. I thought Nebraska could
have walked out with a w. Something's I just feel
like this. It's always something with Ohio State defense. They
can't run the football. Doesn't it feel like they're leaking
a little oil at this point? Yeah, obviously, and part

(05:45):
of that is is injuries. So their left tackle against Oregon,
Josh Simmons, goes out, Yes, and Simmons would have been
you talk to some scouts, they are saying like late
first round, early second round, like that's how well he
was playing. Yeah, and he was next to an All
American guard Downovan Jackson. So the left out of their
offensive line was the strength of their offensive line. I
would I would have considered them more of a left

(06:06):
handed run team because of that. Yeah, And when he
went out, they have they have not found the secret
code to like re established the run game like they
had earlier in the season without Simmons in at tackle,
and they tried to play this z in Maholski. It
didn't really work out. He got banged up, and so
now you're kind of juggling. We might see Donovan Jackson

(06:27):
out at tackle, which we saw late in that game
against Nebraska, So it's patchwork. It's going to be patchwork.
So yeah, yeah, like leaking oil, I think is an
interesting way to put it. Penn State's a bad team
to play well, especially there. Yes, when you're when you're
struggling on the offensive line, you don't want to go
to Happy Valley because the crowd noise coupled with the
fact that this is and and the data bears this

(06:48):
out over the last three years, nobody rushes the passer
better than Penn State, regardless of player. By the way,
that's Chop Robinson, Abdul Carter that they they've got a
great rush. Ye, They've always got that, and they always
utilized their crowd. Remember this is one of the great
environments in all of college, so it's fantastic, and so
they utilized that crowd noise to really get after the quarterback.
This was let's just take a step back. Let's go

(07:09):
back to last year. Michigan goes to Penn State. Everyone's like, man,
they ran at thirty two straight to the day. Speaking
of Michigan, right, remember that, Yeah, they had to they
couldn't lock Chop Robinson, the defensive end who ended up
getting taken in the draft because of the crowd noise,
because they had a patchwork offensive line and they had

(07:29):
an out. They said, Okay, we're gonna put extra offensive
linemen on the field, We're gonna put extra tight ends
on the field, and we're just gonna take your pass
rush away from you. I don't know if Ohio State
can do that. So think about it this way. The
last couple of years, it's been a Marvin Harrison show
against the Nitney Alliance each of the last two years.
Remember two years ago against Joey Porter. He was great

(07:50):
with stroud third down, he was incredible. Last year they
went to him early often established the offense. I actually
think if Michigan's answer to Penn State's pass rud was
running the football, I think Ohio States is going to
be more passing the football. I don't think that they're
gonna sit there and try to make it work with
this patchwork offensive line running the ball. I think they're

(08:11):
going to say, hey, will Howard, Jeremiah Smith, a mecha
Abuca go in the game. You know, it's interesting to
go win. If you're a team that goes to Penn
State and wins, or Ohio State and wins or Alabama.
This is just off the top of my head. It
could be run. But generally you have to silence the crowd.
You have to get the crowd up. These are all
twenty year old kids. This is not the NFL. You
don't have as good as electronics like you go on

(08:33):
the road generally, let me back this up, right, what
did well? What did Georgia not do against Alabama that
they did do against Texas? Ran the ball, got an
early league, so they take the air out of the
building a little bit, right, and you relieve pressure on yourself.
What did Ohio State not do against Oregon? They did
not own the game early. Therefore the crowd becomes a

(08:56):
bigger part of it. So you're right, I think that
this whole avenue that you're on, it's so when you
go on the road to win, there's a couple of
elements that really help you. Generally, like a first round
NFL quarterback kid with experience, you go on the road.
JJ McCarthy, I got a lot of starts. Yeah you
know what I mean. That's for secondly offensive line prowess. Yeah,
I hear. Nothing gets a crowd riled up like a

(09:18):
big sack and so Michigan went on the road last
year is like first round quarterback, dominant O line. They
made places quiet, really fast, nine to ten play boring drive.
What do you cheer about? Now you're telling me, and
I'm watching Ohio State's own line and run game, you're
not going to dominate the line of scrimmage. I think
Will Howard's a good player. I don't think he's great,
but I like him. This game feels like to me,

(09:40):
you don't have the elements needed to keep Happy Valley quiet. Well,
the big caveat here is that Penn State is also struggling.
I guess you could say or in between quarterbacks because
of the injury to Drew Aller, and now it might
be Bo Prabula their backup that is playing the all
don't know if they have an elite wide receiver, certainly

(10:02):
not Evan Stewart elite, which is the guy who burned
Ohio State in that Oregon Ohio State matchup. And so
you look at this and well, let's say it this way.
This is going to be Ohio State's second road, true road,
top five matchup of the season. That's unheard of in

(10:23):
college football. Better than Penn State, right, I believe they
do too. I believe so. But this is their second
top five road matchup of the year. That's already happened
this year, happened to Georgia. What can we learn from Georgia?
They wey be way better in the second roadie. They
were way better in the second road game, and specifically

(10:44):
their defense and just their overall connectivity in terms of
how they were going to win the game. Their offense
didn't play great. Carson Beck turned the ball over. Offense
didn't play great, they didn't need to. Why the defense
played outstanding, gave them short fields, allowed them to build
that twenty three round lead. The question about Georgia going
into Texas is the same question about Ohio State going
into Penn State, which is kind of a wonky offensive line.

(11:06):
We didn't idle injuries up front. Ye, George's hold one
against Kentucky Obama was bad, that's right. So who stepped
up George's defense? So now you look at for me,
you look at the wide receivers for Ohio State, and
you look at that defense. Yes, they got torched against Oregon.
Guess who got torched earlier in the year before the
Texas game, the Georgia defense in the first half against
Alabama and they corrected those wrongs. There's there's so many parallels,

(11:29):
you know, for those two teams in this situation. Because
again I go back to this, what has conference realignment
actually given us incredible matchups? We just don't see in
the history of this sport teams at the top end
having to go twice in true road games to play
top five matchups. It just doesn't happen. Okay. So I
gotta say is that, you know a lot of times

(11:52):
in sports, we're all captivated by the sizzle, and then
as you inspect it, you don't see a ton of steak.
I will say the first couple years of the transfer
portal in Colorado was a lot of sizzle, but there
are not a lot of meats, old samwich. You're gonna
be revisionists. You're trying to backpedal, but I will be
good backpedal. They run the ball now, defensive line is

(12:13):
pretty good. Now is Colorado beating non impressive teams or
is this a team that could make the playoff?

Speaker 5 (12:20):
To you?

Speaker 1 (12:21):
Is Colorado a potential number eleven twelve seed? Can they
beat a Utah? Absolutely? Right right now. I mean, Utah
is a five hundred team right now. I know, but
I mean we look at Utah and Kansas State. The
Kansas State beat them, I look at those I mean
they had the lead in the last three minutes against
Kansas State. That's a one loss team. That's a that's
a ranked team. Colorado could absolutely beat anybody left on

(12:45):
their schedule, which means that they could they could wind
up ten and two, and depending on what happens in
the rest of the Big Twelve, Like let's just say
Kansas State beats Iowa State or you know, regardless, or
be gets tripped up against Kansas or Utah. Let's just
say for the sake of argument, that Colorado finds its

(13:06):
way into the Big Twelve championship game. They can absolutely
be any of the best players in college football right now.
Right now. They've got the best quarterback and the best
position player in the sport right now. And you're right,
by the way about their line of scrimmage. It's not
just pr and sizzle and Instagram and also staying there Texas, No,
but this is this is a real team. Their top

(13:26):
twenty and stop rate with their defense, their their offensive line,
is protecting Shador much better. Remember now, remember two years
ago they lost eleven football games. Those eleven losses were
by an average of twenty nine twenty nine. So what
Dean's been able to do and basically a year and
a half is pretty staggering. Do you still go Do

(13:47):
you think he'll go pro?

Speaker 4 (13:49):
No?

Speaker 1 (13:49):
Do you think he'd go to a better college job?
I mean, I'm gonna lump, so I sure hope not.
I will say this, I think that just as as
much Colleo needed Dion, I think Deon needs a place
like Colorado. Let's say, like, I'm gonna lum. I don't
care what he does with our history. You know what

(14:09):
I'm like. I'm not sitting here saying like we gotta
have you know, he's got to be an adherent to
our culture. He can create anything. He can create anything
at Colorado. See Like, let's just say, for sake of argument,
he goes to like a bigger Let's just throw one
out there, like an A and M. Not that he
would have a chance to go on A and M.
A and M's great with Mike Elcho. That's not what
I'm suggesting. I'm saying a program like an A and

(14:31):
m they are. They are so dyed in the wool
aggie fans that they want someone to come in and
be a part of their culture. And that's what Mike.
That's right, the uniforms and traditions, all the different things come.
You're exactly right. So so so this is why Mike
Elco is working in Jimbo Fisher is not just because
Mike feels like an Aggie. He's come in and he's

(14:52):
a part of their culture. See at Colorado, Dion's building
his culture. It's like, hey man, here's the keys due
eleven losses by an average twenty nine. Like whatever you want. No,
I like that. And so for the record, that's what
Phil Knight did to Oregon football. Yeah, Washington had all
the tradition. I remember once I went to a Husky game.
They wore white pants. Outraged by the boost. Oregon's like,

(15:13):
we're gonna have four hundred uniforms. Yeah, and one of
those errors like ah, that's awesome. So that's why they
dominate LA recruiting. So do I think he'll leave, I
don't know. I don't know. I know that he's he's
got it very good at Colorado. Not every place is perfect, certainly,
and I'm sure that there's there's frustrations. I'm gonna lum
so I'm obviously gonna hope that that he stays. And
by the way, I just I think it's a good

(15:34):
spot for him. And if he can grab a couple
of these recruits that they're talking about, then they're gonna
be good moving forward. Okay, Oregon number one, let's see
Joel Klatty. I have Oregon number one.

Speaker 4 (15:45):
Now.

Speaker 1 (15:45):
They've had a bit of a scheduling break. Had they
gone on the road with Bosey State, they may have lost.
I mean, some of this is they got it as
they scuffed early. They played a lot of home games
that helped. It really did help. And I go back
to a conversation that I had with Landing over the summer.
I like him really. I think he's a great I

(16:05):
didn't think a defensive coach would go to Oregon and
crush He's impossible, not the route. He's really really like him.
He's really good, and and he's he's unapologetic about the
way that he goes about his business and in all
the right ways. And and you know, he and I
were talking. We actually we actually played played golf up
at Eugene Country Club, that it was a great place.

(16:27):
I'm not allowed in there, but it hurt it great.
That's that's right. We don't allow you at He was
talking about how it took bo Nix a while after
the transfer to really get it and to really get Oregon. Yeah,
get Oregon, to get the system, to become comfortable in
the system, and he felt like Dylan was just just
ahead of Bow but that it would still take some time.

(16:49):
And what's happened exactly what Dan told me on the
golf course back in July, which was it took him
a little time. And now all of a sudden, you
look up and who's getting better every single week? Oregon,
who is who is correcting their weaknesses? Oregon, whose quarterback
is playing as well or anybody in the country. Oregon
whose offensive line has gotten way better since the beginning

(17:10):
of the year and is healthy. Oregon, whose defense is
playing back Oregon. You look up and it's like, yeah,
Oregon's the number one team in the country, not just
because they beat Ohio State, but because they're playing better
football than anybody else right now. And that's a credit
to Dan Lanning. Are you are you still kicking the
ball when nobody's looking when you play golf, because that
was the criticism early was it was it the criticism

(17:30):
Dan's like I thought that you were behind the tree. Wow,
front of it. That's you know, like that is I mean,
those are big accusations when it comes to golf. I'm
not saying you're cheating in the nil. Let's just moving
the ball a little. Yeah, and it's not that big
of an acquisation. Okay, you're a baseball guy. Hey, guys
in the back. Give me the Yankee Stadium. Give me
these guys that should be a on the park. Yeah,

(17:52):
the guys that grabbed the ball. So first of all,
let's put up Klatt's top ten. I don't disagree with
any of it. Oregon, Georgia, Ohio State, Penn State, Texas,
Indiana's got a great coach. I think there's a little
smoking mirrors. They'll meet better teams. Oh okay, Okay, well,
I mean they'll play better teams. They will. They're gonna
have to go to Ohio State. Now, that's gonna be
a big one. They've got Michigan State this weekend on

(18:13):
the road. They've got Michigan next week they're gonna have
to go to Ohio State, so they've got a tougher
into the season. I'm telling you just watch it. Watch
out for Clemson. Clemson is better in Miami. Miami's undefeated,
but watch out for Clemson. Miami is gonna get beat. Okay,
I want you as a former. You played minor league
baseball three seasons and how many years? Three seasons they
didn't go well? I had to quit? And what level

(18:35):
were you at? I played a couple of Double A
games in spring training. I hit behind. Actually you want
a quick story, Yeah, we have time for a quick start.
Got nothing but time. Okay, So yeah, I'm sure. I'm sure.
Two thousand and one, I'm in spring training with the
San Diego Padres organization two thousand and one, and they

(18:55):
sign a forty I believe two year old Ricky Henderson
to a minor league contract, and Sean Burrows and god
rest his soul was the Triple A third baseman. I
played third base, so they said, hey, Joel, just go
take Sean's spot. His arm is sore for the week,
and just hit second play third base, which is what

(19:17):
Seawan's job was on the Triple A team. So I
was like, okay, great, so I'm going and it's just
on the side fields, you know, the Triple A team,
and they the next day, the Padres signed Ricky Henderson
to a minor league contract. So he's playing on the
Triple A team, hitting leadoff in front of me, and
so I'm sitting there him like this is incredible. I'm

(19:38):
a nineteen year old. Here's a forty one, forty two
year old Ricky Henderson. And he would be in the
on deck circle and he would look back at me
before he walked up, and he'd be tapping his toes,
you know, he'd be doing his little like Ricky Ricky shuffle,
and he'd look at me and he'd be like three two,
And I was like, what is he? What is he
saying to me right now? I don't even understand. All

(20:00):
I could think of, Colin is I wanted to hit
a home run with him on base so that he
had to wait at home. And I was just gonna
give him a bash, brothers, because like, why not? Right
Like you're talking about three and two mean exactly, That's
why I'm like, why is he telling me a number?
He'd be on first base and he'd be talking to
himself at first base. There's no fans there. It's minor league,
you know, baseball in spring training, and so you can

(20:22):
hear him over there and he'd be like, Ricky gets on,
Ricky gets on. He'd be tapping his toes and everyone's like, man,
this is incredible. So I'm swinging from the heels because
I want to hit a home run. Man, I want
to you know, I want him to wait there. I'm
gonna give him the bash, brothers. I'm just I'm looking
dead red first pitch fastballs, just swinging there a manager's
nightmare and go yeah, exactly. So I finally, after a
couple of games of him telling me a number every

(20:43):
time he walked up one, two, I finally asked the manager.
I'm like, Skip, why does Ricky keep telling me a number?
Like I am totally lost? And he's like, son, that's
how many pitches he expects you to take so he
can steal second. And I was like, oh, got it,
got it. So he's not happy that I'm swinging from

(21:05):
the heels either. It was your man, Noah, Skip, And
I'm like, thanks for telling me two days ago, guys, unbelievable, Okay,
show the Yankee video of the guys, a coup of Bianco,
the kid who interferes and somebody tries to wrestle with
Mookie Bats So this is and J Max like, throw
these bums out of the sport? J Max, what are
they supposed to do? They're they're called fanatics. What do

(21:27):
you make of this? What do you think? It's amazing?
It's amazing. By the way, the umpire correctly said you're out.
The stadium said you're out. Yeah, exactly, So they got punished.
They I mean, they got everything they need. The love
this guy look at him, He's like, give you that.
Jack literally wants him to go to the Bronx jail

(21:47):
for a moment.

Speaker 6 (21:48):
Said nothing of the sort of.

Speaker 3 (21:49):
MLB is apparently considering whether or not they will let
these guys go to the stadium tonight. So I know
the Yankees are okay with it, but MLB, we'll see
what they say.

Speaker 1 (21:58):
They should walk in late and get a standing ovation
from the whole section. People are really reacting to this. Why,
like they got what okay, is it against the rules?
Then they were kicked out of the game. But what
are they supposed to do? They're supposed to try to
help their team win. Yeah, they're called fans for a reason.
They're fanatics, folks like, let's stop, J Mack, come on,

(22:21):
what is this?

Speaker 3 (22:22):
You're you're like, how are these meatballs supposed to help
the Yankees win?

Speaker 1 (22:25):
You're you're like the coach from Remember the Titans? Was
it was?

Speaker 6 (22:29):
It?

Speaker 1 (22:30):
Was it Denzel when he was like, are we having
fun now? Or is this one? No? No fund sir?
That's J Max. Let's be honest. New York hasn't won
anything in a decade. This is this is to them,
and they're gonna get you know, they're not winning this series.
Who's the best? Who's the Who's your favorite guy? Is
that the guy in the road uniform that like is

(22:51):
trying to be like throw his hands up and be
like no, or is it the guy in the sunglasses
trying to explain himself like, no, this is our area.
He came into our area. That guy the best. That's
what he actually said after they called him. He goes,
this is our wall. Well, that's exactly right. He's a
Yankee fan. To him, it's his whole section.

Speaker 4 (23:08):
J Man.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
Walk them in late, bring them in like with lights,
give them an entrance. You know I have everyone applaud Why.

Speaker 6 (23:15):
Why are you clibrate these guys?

Speaker 1 (23:17):
Come on, let's that's right. Come on, what are we
doing the.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
Fox set tonight with with a rod and we should.

Speaker 1 (23:24):
Bring them up in the guys, bring them on the BEYONDO.
I got a chair open right now, I'll bring bring
him on this show. This is incredible. Why why are
you so angry?

Speaker 4 (23:33):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (23:33):
I know this is a guy that grounds his kids
for a month because they don't they don't do their
bed when they leave for school. They don't make their bed. Yeah,
that's a big one. That's a big one.

Speaker 6 (23:43):
Come on, you make your kids brush your teeth or
they just know to do it.

Speaker 1 (23:47):
I mean, I don't think this is brushing your teeth.
You know, when my kids are having fun out out
of my yard, I'm not like, hey, no laughing, no
laughing out there? What is this? We's supposed to have
a game right now. Well, my friend text me, he goes,
they could have broken Mookie BET's wrist. Oh come on,
that's like getting sounds like some soft La Dodgers fans.
You hear me, listen out here. They just throw stuff

(24:11):
at you, that's what they did at the Podras. They
just decided to throw stuff. Man, I tell you what
good I don't understand this. Jmac take, Yeah, I don't
give it. I tried working with him, and I'll tell
you what. You get it once he's like, Colin, why
are you smiling? We're talking about sports. This is supposed
to be serious. Yeah, you would, I agree?

Speaker 2 (24:30):
One more heard. The Herd streams twenty four hours a day,
seven days a week within the iHeartRadio app. Search Herd
to listen live or on demand whenever you like.

Speaker 1 (24:40):
So the best argument J McK and I are getting
all our friends are texting us and they're all like you, Colin,
you're very, very permissive. The best argument you have if
you're a Dodger fan or you're really bothered by these players,
the best argument is, hey, just don't touch the players.
The go for the ball, do whatever you want, spill
a beer just to well. But my take, well, you
don't want to touch the players. You don't want to

(25:02):
throw stuff at the players. There's a lot of lines
you don't want to cross. But I think that there's
a reasonable argument, like just don't touch Mookie Betts. And
it looked like they were monkey and very much monkying
with the glove and then one of them grabs his arm.
That guy. So Major League Baseball has just announced those
two guys will not be allowed in the stadium tonight,

(25:24):
at least if the Yankees can control it. In honor
of these two, I'm gonna have a meatball parm a
sandwich for lunch because there are a couple of meatballs,
and I think in honor of these guys and support
these guys, meatball, marinaer or sandwich. But I do think
there are lines you don't want to cross, but I
think fans obliterate them. You don't want to get into
a fight at a stadium, there's one every time I go.

(25:46):
You don't want to throw stuff. I've seen that happen
at Texas and Dodger Stadium recently. You don't want to
touch a player, Well, we just saw it happen. The
lines have been blurred so much that it's just part
of the world we live in. I've always thought they're
gon we're going to have a bad incident in the NBA.
It's just going to happen eventually. I'm just I'm waiting
for this awful moment. But I think there is an

(26:07):
argument to be made. Major League Baseball said you touched
a player year out for the game, come back next year.
I don't have a problem with that. That's a good take.
J Mack with the news. Turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (26:21):
This is the herd Line News.

Speaker 6 (26:24):
Let's go back to the NFL.

Speaker 3 (26:25):
The Pittsburgh Steelers two and zero with Russell Wilson under
center as they entered their bye week, now six and two.

Speaker 6 (26:31):
Overall, nobody's talking about justin fields anymore.

Speaker 3 (26:33):
Russ has looked pretty good outside of that first quarter
against the Jets' he's done well. He's got a total
of five hundred yards, three touchdowns, no picks, and he
knows the team still has a lot more to prove.

Speaker 5 (26:45):
We got a great confidence. We haven't done anything yet.
You know, we're obviously sitting here at six and two,
which is a great thing, but it doesn't mean anything.
It doesn't mean anything when we look back at it all.
We got to be making sure that we're staying and
focused on the next task, and that's that's to.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
Take care of our bodies, take.

Speaker 5 (27:02):
Care of our minds, Enjoy this with your families and
all that stuff. Is bye week because we've got, we've
got a surge ahead of us that we gotta go
get and there's a lot of great games ahead of us,
and we're not gonna shy away from them.

Speaker 1 (27:14):
And it's amazing when I mean, just think about Pittsburgh.
We looked at them as a fraudulent four and two team.
Now I look at them as a viable six and
two team just because of one play, one player, Russell Wilson.
I mean, it just it goes to show and we
don't think Russell is the elite, but going from I mean,
they were four and two and we were like, this
team is give me a break, but it does show

(27:37):
you that Russell is better than Justin Is. I look
at them now totally differently. They're not going to be
great teams, they'll compete with great teams because of their defense.
But just making an upgrade from a young quarterback who
isn't really good yet to a veteran quarterback past his
prime but still viable really changes the perception. I think

(27:58):
it changes Mike Tomlins percent. The one thing Russell's done,
He's gone right for Pickens, like he is making him
target number one the run game. Now with Naujie Harris
is better with Russell Wilson in there. I think he
has three straight hundred yard or close games, so I
do think Pittsburgh I have him in the top ten.
I don't think they're as good as the top three
or four teams, but I think they can compete with

(28:20):
anybody with Russell.

Speaker 6 (28:21):
So let me look at this the other way.

Speaker 3 (28:24):
They played the Jets, who at the time were two
and four, but I mean hammer them. Then they beat
the Giants, who look at two and five. So russ
has basically looked good above average against.

Speaker 6 (28:36):
Two bad teams. And the Jets defense.

Speaker 3 (28:37):
I don't care what anybody says preseason they're not good.

Speaker 1 (28:40):
But in both games they dominate the second half. They
physically wear down people, so it's not just winning. They
the second half against the Jets was twenty four to nothing.
They hammered him.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
I would blame Aaron Rodgers and Girlson. But anyways, here's
what's interesting. So they have a buy This week, Washington
has a huge divisional matchup against the Giants. Then Washington
has to face Pittsburgh. Like that's a bad spot. So
Mike Tullman now has two weeks to prepare for a
rookie quarterback and Cliff Kingsbury like it's a tough matchup
for them.

Speaker 6 (29:11):
Things are just looking good for Pittsburgh. Man, it's crazy.
I'll stand by it, Helen.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
I don't think there's a good football team, but the
record of six and two they achedule.

Speaker 1 (29:21):
First of all, that they do too many things well
not to be a good football team. Excellent pass rush,
they're now running the ball, they have good special teams.
They're not turning it over. I mean, they do too
many things.

Speaker 6 (29:33):
They're not contro Let me take it back. I rescind good.

Speaker 1 (29:36):
They're not a great football No, they're not a contender,
but they do they do too many things well to
not be considered a good and they're very good at home.
They don't turn it over. Now, they're running the ball,
they get a pass rush, they're physical, they look well
prepared and well coached. Back to back weeks, they've done
excellent work post half. I think they're a good football

(30:00):
That was wrong.

Speaker 6 (30:02):
Same with me.

Speaker 3 (30:02):
Next story is, let's go to Kirk Cousins at his
best games of the season against Tampa this year, which
is kind of clouding.

Speaker 6 (30:10):
Some of the numbers were gonna show him to you here
in a second.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
Cousins had seventy nine percent completions against Tampa and two
games this last week, two hundred and seventy six yards
four touchdowns.

Speaker 6 (30:20):
Remember he had the monster Thursday night game.

Speaker 3 (30:23):
Rakhie Morris spoke about just how good cousins performance was
earlier this week.

Speaker 7 (30:28):
That was probably his cleanest game as a quarterbacks Atlanta Facers.
You know, and I know it's hard to say when
we threw for five hundred yards one week, but you
know how.

Speaker 1 (30:35):
For the lost stats, but yesterday.

Speaker 7 (30:36):
Far as being clean, as far as throwing the ball
exactly where it needs to go, being his exhaustedt progressions,
feeling really comfortable, being decisive, doing all the different things
that Kurt does. Well, you can you can see the
confidence in our offense when he's playing that way, in
the style of layer we want to play it.

Speaker 1 (30:51):
And for the record, once again, look at.

Speaker 3 (30:53):
That those are Listen, he's basically chewing up Tampa and
laughing at it.

Speaker 1 (30:57):
But that's okay, first thing to have to do in
the NFL win the division. That's true. So but again,
and Michael Pennix is sitting watching this pro win the division.
So for the people that complained about Atlanta, Kirk Cousins
and Pennix, it's turning out as we predicted on the show,
Atlanta would win the division with Kirk Cousins and for

(31:20):
a year, Michael Pennix would watch one of the great pros,
like Mahomes watching Alex Smith. Next year, I think Michael
Pennix is going to get more of a run. We'll
see in camp.

Speaker 6 (31:32):
Clarify that, please, more of a run.

Speaker 1 (31:34):
I think I think they'll make remember Michael Pennix this preseason.
They pulled him after a game. They're like, we've seen enough.
Next year, I think they'll be more of a real
competition for number one.

Speaker 4 (31:45):
Huh.

Speaker 1 (31:45):
And my guest says Cousins will win it again narrowly,
and oh my, he may have to sit Michael Pennix
for two years, Jordan loved. Did that seem to work? Okay?

Speaker 3 (31:56):
So Cousins is feasting on this sad sack division. They
have no against the Saints, Bucks, PANTHERSA. These guys are jokers.
The problem is the schedule doesn't really get tough. And
that's why this argument about Cousins maybe not being the
guy next year is.

Speaker 6 (32:10):
Tough Collins this on. They're on track to win eleven
or twelve games.

Speaker 1 (32:13):
That's what I predicted. I like, I told you I
thought they could be the number one seed in the NFCEED.
That was my prediction. They were gonna win twelve games.

Speaker 6 (32:20):
That's not out of the realm.

Speaker 3 (32:21):
I mean, they're gonna need some things to break their way,
like Detroit to lose this week, and again.

Speaker 1 (32:25):
You mean Saints are now a tire fire. Saints are awful.

Speaker 6 (32:28):
Well, Derek Carr's coming back this week.

Speaker 1 (32:30):
I mean, I know we lost five in the.

Speaker 3 (32:34):
True but that again the late season schedule, like Vegas
Giants Carolina three.

Speaker 6 (32:39):
Of their last four. Again, I don't see if.

Speaker 3 (32:42):
They're able to get eleven or twelve wins and win
a playoff game.

Speaker 6 (32:46):
You think Pennix is gonna have a shot.

Speaker 2 (32:48):
Next year, that's just.

Speaker 6 (32:50):
I know you love Penix man, but.

Speaker 1 (32:52):
Well I love Cousins. This is love both, Okay, I
had three?

Speaker 3 (32:56):
Is that like like you you're dating a girl and
then you start to realize her roommate's nice too, and
you try to stick date boats.

Speaker 6 (33:02):
I don't do that. You can't like the backup and
the starter you have to pick one.

Speaker 1 (33:05):
I can like you you cannot.

Speaker 6 (33:07):
That's come on, that's against the sports fans rules.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
I made three predictions this season. One Denver would be
better than everybody thinks, two Washington would make the playoffs,
and three Atlanta would battle for the number one seed.
Been a deep pictic, good years.

Speaker 3 (33:23):
Don't hurt yourself. Patt of yourself on the back. In
week eight, Colin, A lot can still happen. But yees,
so far some of your predictions are damn it.

Speaker 6 (33:32):
Looking really good.

Speaker 3 (33:33):
Final story is the loss of Stefan Diggs. That's a
bummer for the Texans. He's out for the season. Torn
acl Nico Collins still not back there, hopeful for next week.
So again they're playing the Jets here tomorrow night. Colin
and Jamiko Ryans believe the rest of his wide receiver
room will pick up the slack.

Speaker 8 (33:51):
One thing that has sticks out HUDs Mitch ows guys
is from our last game, like just showing guys winning
their one on one opportunities, huts going to the ground there,
making the tough kids matchie, finding a way to win
in an off schedule. A moment they're in the game
and come up with the big kids. That's that's all
we asked is win you're one on one and make

(34:12):
the plays that that you're supposed to make. If guys
do that, like collectively as a table, will be just fine.

Speaker 1 (34:20):
And that's what Houston is. They're just fine, not great,
just fine.

Speaker 3 (34:23):
So take Dell, someone named Xavier Hutchison. I'm not familiar
with his work. Robert Woods, John Metchi, that's the wide
receiver room.

Speaker 1 (34:32):
I'm you know you. You made a suggestion yesterday. Jacoby Myers,
he's good.

Speaker 6 (34:38):
I like that guy.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
I'm surprised. I'm trade deadline. Jacob Meyer.

Speaker 6 (34:44):
You can keep an eye on.

Speaker 1 (34:45):
I don't know.

Speaker 6 (34:46):
Does he play for a team where you know the GMO?

Speaker 1 (34:49):
No, that's not it might interesting. J Mack with the news.

Speaker 2 (34:53):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by The Herd.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
Lie.

Speaker 2 (34:57):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and new eastern nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 6 (35:06):
Last night, the.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
Yankees rallied to extend the World Series to a fifth
game tonight at Yankee Stadium.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
They'll try to keep their.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
Comeback hopes alive while the Dodgers looks at Prints their
eighth championship in franchise history. Coverage of Game five begins
tonight at seven eastern, four Pacific on five.

Speaker 1 (35:23):
So the two fans in New York that interfered with
Mookie Betts last night, Mookie Betts said, no big deal,
let's move on and it. But today, you know, Midweek
Wednesday show, it is sort of funny and both the
one of the fans as we show it again, he claimed, hey,
I protect this section, I protect this wall. I'm willing

(35:46):
to get kicked out to protect this wall. That's really
how he views himself as very very important, and I
think a lot of fans. He's the season ticket holder,
and obviously you should not touch Mookie Betts. But I
mean these are young. You know, it's on with the fans,
and sometimes players jaw back at the fans. The Padres
did that to Dodger fan, and Dodger fans threw stuff

(36:06):
at him. So all fan bases have bad behavior. Texas
fans throwing stuff on the field in the game against
Georgia because of a bad call. But I think the
funniest part is these fans, when interviewed after they were saying, hey,
I'm willing to get kicked out to protect my wall.
And I really believe that they want they want to
be in Monument Park. And so apparently the Yankees, seeing

(36:29):
the value of these two guys, have decided right between
Garrig and Ruth, you know, Coppo Bianco and his buddy,
you know, they're gonna be there going forward Monument Park.
They really are an important part of Yankee history. Now
Major League Baseball has swooped in and decided, you guys
can't be here tonight, which is probably the right call.

(36:50):
But maybe I'm too. I'm too you know, I think
my standard for fans is so low. I had a
friend go to the Dodger game the other night, and
he was it. He got great, great seats, and he said,
somebody sitting by him was a total jerk, young fan,
total jerk. It's like, I don't go to a lot
of sporting events because of that. Like it's just, you know,

(37:11):
I'd rather sit in my little media space, watch it,
take notes, have fun, eat soup.

Speaker 3 (37:16):
But so there's been a couple times where I've had
good seats at the Dodgers where like the on deck
guys within like.

Speaker 6 (37:22):
Fifteen feet of me. Yeah, and you can.

Speaker 3 (37:23):
Say some stuff and sometimes I'll like look them up
online the player and find a joke and say something
funny and the player will kind of look up and
laugh like smirk like, oh, that was kind of funny,
and the fans will laugh. But I'm not like talking track.
My kids are with me, so I'm not like dropping
f bombs and saying stuff. I'm assuming these guys were
cursing out Mookie Betts as they're trying to pry open
his glove. And the Yankees in Major League Baseball did

(37:45):
announce twenty minutes ago that they're not going to be
welcome back tonight.

Speaker 1 (37:48):
All right, yeah, I mean that's I mean, we know,
what's remarkable is how young the crowd is. I noticed
this when I go to Laker games. Young people are
struggling to get work. You've been reading stories about that,
and why not go out? I mean, look, how.

Speaker 9 (38:00):
I'm going to get work? How are you affording World
Series takes? Because your parents actually work harder than the kids.
Parents have put the time in. Kids are now soft
and so they don't you know, so the parents are
paying for the tickets.

Speaker 6 (38:12):
You think these guys are going back to live with
their parents.

Speaker 1 (38:14):
They're not going to golden sacks tomorrow. I'm going to
tell you that. By the way, this made me laugh.
So I saw this this morning, the NFL draft order
for next year as of this morning. See if you
notice anything on the NFL draft order. Here's the NFL
draft order this morning. Panthers, Titans, Patriots, Jets, Jaguars, Saints, Raiders, Browns, Giants.

(38:39):
Is that the twenty seventeen draft order of the twenty
twenty two It's the same teams every year. I mean,
it just cracks me up every year. And I guarantee
you one of these teams is going to mortgage their
future and move up for cam Ward or Quinn Viewers
and they'll be drafted in the next seven years. In
this space. You don't see the Chiefs in there very much,

(39:02):
you know what I'm saying. Or the Packers did not
very regularly up there.

Speaker 3 (39:05):
Okay, So of these nine, these magnificent nine, who needs
a quarterback? Panthers are taking one, right, Okay, let's do that.
But I don't know if the Titans are. Are we
sure the Titans taken the quarterback?

Speaker 1 (39:18):
Yes, okay, just.

Speaker 2 (39:19):
Have to check.

Speaker 1 (39:20):
I know, uh Levis's say, Panthers, Titans. I think the
Saints will Raiders Giants. I think the Browns will you
skipped over the Jets. I don't think they are. I
think they'll take them on in the fifth round. They
won't take one fifth round. No, I think they would
offend Aaron.

Speaker 3 (39:40):
Oh, that's what we've got to playcate Aaron Rodgers. I mean,
he's delivered what he wants.

Speaker 6 (39:43):
He's won so many games for the Jets. You got
to placate him.

Speaker 4 (39:45):
You gotta.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
You think they're gonna draft the first round quarterback. I would.

Speaker 6 (39:49):
I don't care what Aaron Rodgers wants. He's not delivering wins.

Speaker 1 (39:52):
They have. They have shown no ability to push back
on Aaron. That's what I've seen. Maybe they'll change, but
from when I seen, they're gona do what Aaron wants.
