Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:24):
J McK and I both have Ohio State winning the
national championship this year.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
You're in Vegas this weekend. Can you scoop me up
a ticket Ohio State to win it? I will I
will put a Benjamin on the Buckeyes.

Speaker 1 (00:34):
Benjamin on the Buckeyes.

Speaker 3 (00:36):
I'll slide to you a C note next week. You
want to get paid in twos?

Speaker 1 (00:42):
No, I think I'm gonna do that.

Speaker 4 (00:44):
Yeah, well it's a one hundred bucks.

Speaker 1 (00:45):
I'm not sure if my place has a sports book.

Speaker 4 (00:49):
You go to hotels in Vegas without a sports book.

Speaker 1 (00:54):
There's like one hundred and forty hotels. Not all of
them are there.

Speaker 4 (00:58):
Strip buddy, aren't you staying in the time time area.

Speaker 1 (01:00):
I'm not going to give that up. I mean Uber
delivers there, so it's you know, it's Uber. J mack
with the news.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Turns this is the herd line news.

Speaker 4 (01:15):
It's weird.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
We touched on this this week. Just Drake May droppings stuff.
Awesome player. For two years now he's being picked apart.
I've had him going second overall for the longest time now.
One GM told The Athletic that it wouldn't shock him
if May ended up being the best quarterback in this
draft class. Now, listen, maybe he slides down to nine

(01:36):
in a better situation. We both agree if he goes
to the Patriots, it's going to be a flop. Yeah,
but there is certainly a world where Drake Bay comes
out of this. Does it look great on draft night
because he slides and ends up being the best quarterback
in this draft?

Speaker 1 (01:49):
I don't think that's possible.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
You don't think that's possible. If Brian Dable gets Drake Bay.

Speaker 1 (01:56):
No, that's not no Abra flush.

Speaker 4 (01:59):
And Caleb Williams or Daboll and Drake May.

Speaker 1 (02:02):
Ebank loose and Caleb Williams that that roster in Chicago
is ready to win games.

Speaker 3 (02:07):
Now, we like to think that, well, here's a world
where eber Fluss can before Thanksgiving and then you know
Caleb's got a whole new offense, a whole new coach.

Speaker 4 (02:16):
I'm just if Drake May somehow gets to Brian Dables.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
I will say with conviction, I do not believe Drake
May will end up being the best quarterback in this draft.
That is my strong take. He could be good if
he goes to Minnesota or goes to the right place.
Jaden Daniels is more talented. Caleb Williams is more talented.
U think that's crazy.

Speaker 4 (02:36):
I don't. I don't.

Speaker 3 (02:37):
Caleb obviously more talented. Yes, I just can't ride with
the Jayden Daniels stuff. I don't know, more talented. This
is a guy we saw what were years of him
as like, Okay, he's serviceable, and then he gives Jaie Dan.

Speaker 1 (02:51):
I'm gonna watch the Washington Commander's draft. I may have
them winning the division if I feel they drafted strongly.
I'm not joking.

Speaker 4 (02:59):
I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (03:00):
If they get Drake Bay, if they get Jayden, that
will not pick them the way. Okay, next up the Raiders.
I feel like we don't talk about this team. I'm sorry,
they just stink. There's nothing redeeming about them. Maybe they
take a quarterback. They have the thirteenth pick and are
currently the favorite to select Michael Pennix. He would compete
with the immortal Aidan O'Connell and also Gardner Minshew if

(03:23):
Pennix went to Vegas.

Speaker 4 (03:25):
I don't wish Michael Pennox on the Raiders at all.
I'm sorry. I my gut tells me the Raiders punt
on a quarterback here.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Really, and they just go Gardner Minshew for two years.

Speaker 4 (03:36):
Well no, no, no, hold up, they saw a little
bit of Aidan O'Connell.

Speaker 3 (03:39):
I think they take a bigger look and then Minshoo's
the backup and they go for next year.

Speaker 1 (03:43):
You think minshoes the backup to Aidan O'Connell. No, that's
not how I see.

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Do you think Minshew comes in and he's the start?

Speaker 5 (03:50):
Yeah?

Speaker 1 (03:50):
I think Minshew. If you look at his college and
pro career, he's virtually Baker Mayfield.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
So this reminded me.

Speaker 1 (03:55):
I'm not joking when I say that. Go look at
his collegeen pro numbers. He's Baker, but not as rich.

Speaker 4 (04:01):
This reminds me of Will Levis situation.

Speaker 5 (04:03):
Right.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
We saw Will Levis last year a little bit. We
saw more of Aidan O'Connell. We don't think Levis is
the guy, but he's gonna get a chance this year. Now.
I know there's a new regime there, but it's possible
O'Connell gets a look at the starter. We agree he's
not the guy.

Speaker 1 (04:18):
So why would you keep looking at it?

Speaker 4 (04:20):
Well, why are you looking at Will Levis?

Speaker 1 (04:22):
Because Will Levis has a much bigger arm, moves much bigger, moves,
much better, higher draft pick, much bigger arm, much higher ceiling.
I'm gonna give the higher ceiling guy another ten games.
I'll give Will Levis till Thanksgiving, and if at Thanksgiving
people in the organization will know if he's the guy
or not. Aiden O'Connell was an immobile Purdue quarterback who

(04:44):
is a backup. It was a nice ball, but I
don't need to keep giving him looks. If you ever
an NFL scouting department, their job is to tell you
before fans can figure it out, that's a starter, that's
not I don't need to see any more of them.
I think he's a fine NFL back, But there were
games last year. Go look at the Raiders games. They
couldn't get first downs for halves Like I'm sorry, Will

(05:06):
Devis get your first down here.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
The team had had some issues.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
To put it mildly, I wouldn't say issues. I think
he has a ceiling. I don't know if that's issues.
I mean I can't sing. I don't have issues. I
just have no singing voice. I don't have issues for
what can't aide o'connall do now, I mean, Aidan O'Connell,
in an era of quarterbacks that need to move, does
not move.

Speaker 3 (05:30):
He just to let you know he was absolutely dominating
in the preseason.

Speaker 1 (05:36):
You can't even say that with a straight place good.

Speaker 4 (05:39):
He was good in the preseason. They loved him. They
love it in Vegas in the preseason.

Speaker 1 (05:44):
Now in the NFL, these days, we must tell our
audience starters do not play in the preseason. I mean, like,
don't play at all. Like there are teams that won't
play any of their starters any snaps.

Speaker 4 (05:56):
I don't want petty.

Speaker 1 (05:56):
It used to be that you could watch the preseason.
I always felt like this. You watch that third preseason
game and it told you something. I do not watch
the preseason anymore. I'm not going to clutter up the
parking space with cars and there's no spaces. There's no
reason to watch the preseason. It is a bad product
and they don't play any other starters. It's like watching
college basketball in October when it's all the transfer portal.

(06:20):
What are you watching? None of these teams fit yet
it's all new players together. I mean, John Calipari just
came out and said to Arkansas, we don't have a team.
So John Calipari probably will build a very very good
team by like March. But I'm not gonna watch Arkansas
in October and go. You know, I don't like what
I see. It's like eight guys that have never played together.
So the preseason in the NFL is drack. It's awful.

Speaker 4 (06:43):
Don't disagree. Final stories.

Speaker 3 (06:45):
The UFL has announced the addition of the Sportsmen of
the Year Award. It'll celebrate one player's service off the
field as well as they're excellence on the field.

Speaker 4 (06:52):
Nominees will be revealed throughout the season.

Speaker 3 (06:55):
The work will be highlighted across the league's content and
social media. The winner of the inaugural award will be
announced the week of the uff UFL Championship.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Very exciting things happening in that league.

Speaker 1 (07:08):
There's a lot of doubters with spring football in America.
But when I watch highlights of these games, just look
at this video right here. These are either really really
good college players are this is not sloppy flag football.
Look at that catch. When you watch these games, I

(07:28):
see at skill positions, rotational NFL guys. There's a lot
of football to out in this country. Go watch, go
watch three or four series, and you can't tell me
there's not NFL guys.

Speaker 4 (07:40):
And that's the thing.

Speaker 3 (07:41):
Like in basketball, if you don't make the NBA, you
can go to Turkey. It's Slowvenia. There's all over the
world there isn't another football.

Speaker 1 (07:48):
This is yeah. And i' mean just when I watched
the games. Now I've said this over and over, don't
judge offensive lines because if you can play, the whole
league's looking for offensive linemen. There's a ton of NFL
guys around or they're either NFL or you know, get
to camp. Last guy cut. I don't know. I think
the quality of it's way better than a lot of

(08:10):
people think. J Mack with a.

Speaker 2 (08:12):
News, Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by
the herd Line News.

Speaker 1 (08:18):
It is funny basket. You know, I don't have an
answer for this, but basketball is a global sport and
you get to like the twelfth pick and you're out
of players in the draft. The NFL is just a
domestic sport, and there's a lot of moms that don't
want their sons to play. And you can go seven
rounds and you can find Rock Purty as the last
guy picked in the draft, and you'll find another thirty

(08:39):
five guys that make the league that are undrafted. It's
just it's weird. I don't know the answer to this.
I've never really done a submarine dive on it before,
but it is interesting. Is basketball just the rosters are obviously, duh,
they're smaller, but they're not that much smaller that you're
out of players by the thirteenth pick and half the

(08:59):
NFL is undrafted. Yes, the NFL rosters are four times
the size, but it feels like there's twelve times the talent.
I mean, you go to these NBA drafts like this year,
you get to the second round, you are you're almost
out of players at the at the thirteenth pick. Everybody's like,
I think he's a rotational guy for a global sport.

(09:19):
A lot of people out there and Joel Klatt is
doing the the Ohio State spring game. Now, for years
and years, spring games do very well in you know,
college football is a little regional, so they do very
very well. It's like spring training. You know, spring training
games aren't great games, but they pack them. In college football,

(09:41):
you can pack spring games. But for the years, I've
always thought, you're gonna tell me, like a big brand
like a Michigan or Ohio State or Notre Dame or Texas,
if you put a spring game on, couldn't get a number.
So I think at Fox, this is on the Big
Fox this weekend, isn't it. They're putting this on the
Big Fox. Yeah, they're putting it on the Big Fox.
And I my takeaway is if I'm by a television,

(10:03):
I would actually watch it. I would watch it this weekend.
By the way, before we get to Klatt, who's also
a golfer, if there's any update on the Masters, give
it to me. I will be rooting. And I didn't
like him initially, but I do find since all these
big names, Dustin Johnson, Bryson De Shambo, and Brooks Koepka
went to the Live Tour, I do find myself bored

(10:24):
with golf looking for more personality because I'm not a
guy that plays a ton I play in the summer,
but I do find myself thinking I miss brooks Kopka.
I'd like to see him on a regular basis. Patrick
Reid's gone, John Rahm's on the Live Tour, So you know,
to me, Tiger is plus one through thirteen? All right? Uh?

Speaker 3 (10:43):
Deshambo Shambo's leading, I mean named Max Homa made a
big charge today.

Speaker 1 (10:49):
I think, do you think Bryson to Shamba leading? That
will get me to a television Well.

Speaker 4 (10:54):
I don't know about you, but he is polarizing.

Speaker 3 (10:57):
Since we started talking about him, I had two friends
text me, I can't believe you guys don't like Bryson.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
He has like a bit of a cult following.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
I have zero domain expertise in golf, so I don't
know why that is, but I will be looking into it.

Speaker 4 (11:08):
This way.

Speaker 1 (11:09):
So the projective cut is plus four Tigers plus one.

Speaker 4 (11:12):
So you'll watch for Tiger this weekend?

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Absolutely absolutely, I'm more likely to probably watch Joel Tiger Bryan.
It's not that I don't like Bryson, but you know,
when you get the guys that are a little too alpha,
I gotta eat sixteen strips of bacon in the morning.
It's like, oh, yeah, okay, what's wrong with that? Yeah,
you don't have to announce how much bacon you eat,
just you know. But Brooks Koepka is Bryson without a
lot of the obnoxious qualities. Dustin Johnson is sort of Deshambo,

(11:38):
big strong, long off the tea without some of those qualities.
But I gotta be honest, you watch golf, it's not
as fun. I like the big hitters. You know. John
Daley had a lot of fans.

Speaker 2 (11:47):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern non am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (11:56):
Joel Klatt joining us doing the Ohio State game on Fox.
So I think it's the best team in the country.
I think Chip Kelly's probably worth a w somewhere on
the schedule when you do this game. My only question
with Ohio State, and it feels like a big question,
but maybe it's not as big in college as the pros.
Who's their quarterback? I know everybody else is great, but
who's their quarterback? What are we gonna get from Ohio State?

Speaker 6 (12:21):
That's a good question, and it's a major question.

Speaker 7 (12:25):
I think that there's going to be a good competition,
in particular tomorrow, which is why I'm so interested for
this spring game between Devin Brown, who has been at
Ohio State and Will Howard the transfer. Now you know, listen,
I would assume you don't transfer to Ohio State unless
you think you're going to start at quarterback. For Will Howard,
he was a starter, won a Big Twelve championship at
Kansas State when they beat TCU a couple of years ago,

(12:46):
So I would lean that direction, Colin, although I will
tell you around the program, knowing what I know of
some of these high school recruits, I wouldn't be shocked
if Julian Saying has a bit of a say in this,
at least at some point during the course of next year. Obviously,
this this spring is gonna be tough for me just

(13:07):
got there. But he's a really talented player, so they're
definitely gonna have their choice. But to your point, that's
the biggest question, and it's and it's always something that
I don't think you can win a national championship without
great quarterback play. So they're gonna have whoever it is
is gonna have to play really well?

Speaker 1 (13:25):
Do you worry as we get to the draft? Somebody
said this week Greg McElroy, who I like, but he said,
you know, Caleb hasn't faced adversity. And my joke was,
did you see the O line at USC? The last
two years? It's nickname was adversity. They was running for
his life. So I you know, you got a lot
of JJ McCarthy. I'm sitting home on my TV watching

(13:46):
every snap of Caleb Williams. He was overcoming every game.
You could only win by track meet shootout. There was
no other way to win last two years at USC.
Do you get to a point now when you're analyzing
guys that you feel like, I've got enough information. Here's
my opinion taken.

Speaker 7 (14:03):
Yes, So it's the exact same scenario that you have
to be in as a quarterback or as a coach.
During the week of preparation for a game, there is
a point where you have to stop because all you're
doing is hurting all the preparation that you've already done
because you're starting to hunt for ghosts. Then everything is
a what if and it's like, well, did he play

(14:24):
the level of competition? Was he challenged enough? Did he
face enough adversity? And the answer unequivocally for Caleb Williams
is yes, the guy is the best prospect in this
year's draft. I think he's going to be an excellent
pro He's a better version of what Patrick Mahomes.

Speaker 6 (14:40):
Was at Texas Tech. That's just a fact.

Speaker 7 (14:42):
And I think that the paralysis through analysis of the
NFL draft has become very common, in particular at the
quarterback position. We saw this last year Colin. Let's not
forget last year. At this time, people were trying to
c J. Stroud is not going to do this, X,
Y or z, and look at this cognitive tests, this

(15:04):
and that, and what did he do? He went out
there and won the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the
Year and he was sensational. A lot of us still
believe that that team is only going to get better
with him as their starting quarterback. So this process lends
itself to guys hunting ghosts and analyzing this for far
too long. Because remember, even in the fall, we have

(15:25):
a game every week to analyze, so it stops our
analysis on a seven day rolling basis.

Speaker 6 (15:31):
In the draft process, we have months.

Speaker 7 (15:34):
With no finality to any of this, and the speculation
runs rampant.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Yeah, you have Bo Nicks as your sixth best quarterback
of the six. Is that just a lower ceiling thing
anything you don't like?

Speaker 7 (15:48):
Yeah, there's nothing I don't like about Nicks. I think
that we have six legitimate first round quarterbacks, you know,
So I like Bo Nicks a lot, but of the six,
I think he's got the lowest ceiling. But he's also
just a different style of player than you're going to
get let's say, Michael Pennock or JJ McCarthy. Nix is

(16:09):
more of a point guard, very cerebral, incredibly smart, heck
of a leader. He's a good accurate throw, and he's
got a strong arm. It's not that he can't do
those things. I would just say that his style lends
itself to being more of a distributor a point guard
getting the ball out, like, for example, of Colin. I
think he would really flourish in Sean Payton's offense in Denver. Yeah,

(16:31):
because Sean Payton likes to run what I would call
scat protection. Scat protection, at least in my vernacular, means
that you're only going to block five guys in the
protection and you're going to release your five free receivers.
And when you do that, then the burden of protection
falls on the quarterback because he's got to protect himself
with his mind, his feet and is timing. I think

(16:53):
bo Nicks does that incredibly well. This is why Russell
Wilson and Sean Payton was such an oil and water
marriage in Denver's because Sean wants the ball to come
out quickly, Russell wants to hold onto it and look
for big plays down the field. And that offensive I
would say Mesh never came together, whereas bo Nicks would
be perfect for a Sean Payton offense. So if he
gets into the right fit, I think he can have

(17:15):
a lot of success.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
The you know, we somebody Owas falls in the draft,
and Drake May is interesting because he was inconsistent, whereas
Caleb was pretty consistent. Jadeen JJ McCarthy, bow Knicks panics
a lot of three hundred year you know, I mean,
I feel like I got the same guy every time,
and then Drake May. I only watched him twice this year.
I got two different quarterbacks. He looks like Justin Herbert,

(17:40):
he didn't throw like him, so like if I said
to you, somebody's gonna tumble, He's not gonna get picked early.
I have this weird feeling it's Drake may not that
he's not a first round quarterback. What do you make
of the suggest his combine wasn't great? That's weird. You
almost never hear that.

Speaker 7 (17:58):
I mean, I'll just say this, Drake has the highest
ceiling other than Caleb, of these guys. Wow, he makes
throws that the others cannot dream of making. He is
the youngest of four brothers that were all athletic, all
played Division one level athletics or higher, and had to

(18:21):
overcome that and compete against that his entire life. I
thought that he was a victim of some really poor
play around him, very similar to Caleb, and I think
his inconsistencies similar to Caleb last season showed up because
of that, and there was a desire to compete at
the highest level and desire to win to the point
that he became reckless at times with the football. But

(18:44):
trying to attribute that to the way that he will
always play, I think is false because that's not the
way he played the previous season. I did his game
against Oregon in the Holiday Bowl last year, not this
last Holiday Bowl, but the one before it. And he
made three, four, five different throws that that are like
off the charts great. He's got enough mobility to threaten

(19:04):
the defense. He can kick and move in the pocket,
and I think he does it cleaner than most people believe.
And then he makes throws that the other guys just
can't dream of making. He's his arm talent is way
up there. And I refuse to make the same mistake
that I made with Josh Allen or Justin Herbert, or
seeing these guys with this skill set and allowing like
a poor completion percentage or a couple of off games

(19:26):
in college when surrounded by what I would consider either
a bad offense or a bad offensive scheme, and I
let that talk me out of Herbert and Allen, and
I started making bold, ridiculous, you know, comments like I
wouldn't draft Justin Herbert in the first round. I said
that on your show. What a stupid thing to say.

(19:47):
And I allowed some of those things to scare me off.
I won't do that with Drake May. Drake May is
going to be a really good NFL quarterback. And like
I said before his ceiling is higher than all of them.
But Caleb, even Jayden and Daniels. You can tell me
Jaden Daniels is better than Drake, mate. All you want.
All that happened is that he was on a team
that had better players around him, and so his film

(20:09):
was cleaner for this season. But that's the only reason.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
Joel Klatch too in the Ohio State game tomorrow, the
spring game with Michigan April twentieth, Good for you, can't
wait to watch? Good see anybody?

Speaker 6 (20:21):
Hey, good to see you, my friend. I'll be in
there soon. Sometime we'll get together.

Speaker 8 (20:52):
To, and that's why we have a brand new podcast
called over Promised. You see, we're having so much fun
in our two hour show. We never get to everything, honestly,
because this guy is over promising things we never have
time for.

Speaker 2 (21:05):
Yeah, you blubber list lame me.

Speaker 5 (21:07):
Well, you know what it's called over promise. You should
be good at it because you've been over promising women
for years.

Speaker 8 (21:11):
Well, it's a Cavino and Rich after show, and we

Speaker 5 (21:25):
Well, if you don't get enough Covino and Rich, make
sure you check out over Promise and also Uncensored by
the way, so maybe we'll go at it even.

Speaker 4 (21:32):
A little harder.

Speaker 5 (21:32):
It's gonna be the best after show podcast.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
Of all time.

Speaker 8 (21:35):
There you go, over Promising, and remember you could see
on YouTube, but definitely join us. Listen Over Promised with
Cavino and Rich on the iHeartRadio app, Apple podcasts or
wherever you get your podcasts.

Speaker 1 (21:46):
In Tournament now, very very close plan Tournament's happen on
next week.

Speaker 3 (21:52):
I believe Wednesday and Friday very exciting.

Speaker 1 (21:55):
So you think you know you're gonna predict through headlines
how the end NBA season is gonna finish. Here we
go tomorrow's headlines. Today, what is going to be the
headline to the NBA MVP?

Speaker 3 (22:11):
Those watching at home just saw Cowherd shake his head
a lot. He knows where I'm going here. Everybody has Joki.

Speaker 4 (22:16):
Jokicic is great.

Speaker 3 (22:17):
That line will be don't Luka now, but Doncic is
the MVP colin. Some of these stats are mind blowing, right,
He's averaging thirty four to nine and ten. Nobody's ever
had thirty three, nine and nine before since like the merger,
Okay Luka leads in points, second in assists. I think
he's second in three pointers made. Is the most forty

(22:38):
point games in the league this year and the most
thirty point games.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
He is an unstoppable force.

Speaker 1 (22:42):
He is unstoppable.

Speaker 3 (22:43):
And let's be real, it's not like he's playing with
a stack deck. And I know the Jokic defenders. Jokis
doesn't have an All Star alongside him. I get that,
but he's got lotto picks and Murray and Gordon like
they got.

Speaker 4 (22:53):
A really, really good team. Luka Doncic.

Speaker 3 (22:56):
I know he added Kyrie, but I'm just telling you
what he's done to get them back in it and
improve defensively.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
The defensive numbers are staggering. This team's on a mission.

Speaker 1 (23:03):
Colin Tomorrow's headlines today defensive player of the Year, What
about a d He's pretty good.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
Ad as a distant third to two guys, two tall frenchmen.

Speaker 4 (23:15):
I believe battling it out.

Speaker 3 (23:16):
The headline will be buse your hands are tied. All
fingers point to Wemby. This is among NBA nerds like myself.
This is one of the most heated discussions.

Speaker 4 (23:27):
Is it go Beart? Is it one?

Speaker 3 (23:29):
Ban Yama and some people have stitched together videos of
people wanting to dunk on Gobert.

Speaker 4 (23:34):
Nobody tries to dunk on Wembanyama. They go around him,
they pass. It's crazy.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
But I'll add this Colin, and I know the problem
is wee Ben Yama spurs stink.

Speaker 4 (23:43):
But that this isn't an individual will try right.

Speaker 3 (23:45):
Like Okay, Go Beart's got an awesome team, and we
like to coach games with five or more blocks. Rudy
Gobert has three this season, web Benyama has twenty two.

Speaker 4 (23:56):
I mean, the guy's unbelievable defensively.

Speaker 3 (24:00):
I don't think this is a discussion now. If you
look at the betting markets, they're saying Gobert is gonna win.
I do have a futures taken on Wenby from way
way back, if you remember early, I like one Bnyami.

Speaker 1 (24:09):
Here tomorrow's headlines today, what's the headline for Coach of
the year.

Speaker 3 (24:14):
Okay, a little difficult because a lot of people point
to Boston and say, what why not the Celtics go, oh,
why not Malone?

Speaker 4 (24:21):
In Denver? What about Minnesota? The headline will be easy,
come easy, mosely. Jamal has the magic.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
He's done a great job. Young team bro.

Speaker 4 (24:32):
Look at this.

Speaker 3 (24:33):
They went from twenty two wins in his first year
to thirty four to now forty six.

Speaker 4 (24:38):
That's pretty impressive to put ten or more games each year.
And it's not like they added shack and something.

Speaker 1 (24:42):
They can't shoot threes either.

Speaker 3 (24:43):
They cannot shoot threes. I point to the Jalen Suggs improvement.
I know we don't do a lot of Orlando magic.

Speaker 4 (24:48):
Jalen Snuggs. Remember coming out of n Zagoa. I like
nobody like this time quarterback in high school.

Speaker 3 (24:53):
We love Jalen Suggs his improvement, not only as a
defensive player, He's gonna be an all defensive team guy,
as a three point shooter, as a leader. They got
a young team. Paolo Benkeo Wagner, I love moston Orlando's
a good team. There could be if things take out
this week shake out this weekend. The number two seed
these that's crazy.

Speaker 1 (25:11):
Tomorrow's headlines today, chaotic seeding in the conference. What's the
winner of the Eastern Conference? What say you?

Speaker 7 (25:18):
Yeah?

Speaker 3 (25:18):
I mean this is this is like who would win
in tennis McIntyre or Cowherd.

Speaker 4 (25:22):
It's just not that difficult head life will be.

Speaker 3 (25:27):
Do not pass go directly to Jalen Celtics Eastern Monopoly.
By the way, I love Monopoly, one of the most
under We played a lot. I just I don't see
how you pick against them.

Speaker 1 (25:39):
You can't. You gotta be who's gonna be him? Four
times in two weeks.

Speaker 3 (25:42):
One of my buddies is like, do you remember Trey
Young last year pushed Boston. Jalen Brunston could push Okay, sure,
maybe they win a game, maybe.

Speaker 4 (25:50):
Somebody takes one or two.

Speaker 1 (25:51):
It's a seven games series. You're not beating this team
four times in the year.

Speaker 4 (25:55):
You're two stacked every position under the deep.

Speaker 1 (25:57):
They can even handle injuries.

Speaker 4 (25:58):
Yeah, so I'm not going as Boston. You can fad
him at your own peril.

Speaker 1 (26:02):
Tomorrow's headlines today? What about the Western Conference a little deeper? Prickly?

Speaker 3 (26:08):
Yeah, a couple weeks ago. You know, we keep going
back and forth. You think you thought the Lakers could
have been the biggest threat to the Nuggets, the defending Chints.
I just want to remind everybody a year ago at
this time, I don't think many people will picking Denver.
It was like, oh, they haven't proven anything. In the playoffs,
the headline will be Cobra Kyrie MAVs sweeped the whole

(26:28):
Western leg I look it that Lebron Listen. I read
this stat earlier. They're playing great with Kyrie Irving this season.
The MAVs are thirty nine and nineteen. Without him, they're
eleven and eleven. They are just an okay team without him.
He's in the role that Jalen Brunson was in.

Speaker 4 (26:44):
Remember a couple of years ago, they go to the
Western Conference finals.

Speaker 3 (26:47):
This team's peeled off sixteen wins in their last eighteen games.
They're as hot as anybody in the league. And during
that strength defense top five defense again, they made some changes.
You know, they got Jones in the starting lineup. They
got Gafford who they picked up at the dead line.

Speaker 4 (27:00):
They picked up PJ. Washington.

Speaker 3 (27:02):
I gotta give credit Mark Cuban. You know, we kind
of digged him. I don't know what you call him
anymore in Dallas, but it's it's weird. They've kind of
built their team to hang with Denver, and I'm taking
on a limb Dallas to take down Denver.

Speaker 4 (27:16):
In the Western Conference. They can shoot there in the
second round, it would have to be actually, yeah.

Speaker 1 (27:20):
They can shoot their way to wins. Can they beat
him four times? But they can shoot their way to win.

Speaker 3 (27:24):
They're gonna Playoki straight up like Yukon did to Eatie. Hey, yokit,
you want to have forty five go for We're not
getting Murray. He's not gonna go off MPJ, no.

Speaker 1 (27:33):
Dunk for games. They shoot like Dallas can shoot their
way to wins. Can they do it four times? I
don't know, but nobody's sweeping this team. You just got
too many offensive you know. Maven's finally tomorrow's headlines today
headline for the winner of the NBA Finals.

Speaker 3 (27:50):
So we have the Celtics and MAVs. According to me,
and you know, it's tough for me to pick against Luca.
I am a big Luca fanboy. But man, that Boston
teams the headline.

Speaker 4 (28:01):
Will be.

Speaker 3 (28:04):
Drew light Special. Celtics baskets are overflowing.

Speaker 1 (28:07):
Deepest team easily in the league.

Speaker 4 (28:09):
I mean, they don't have a weakness.

Speaker 3 (28:10):
Now if you want to say they what can they
play Porzingis and Horford together against embiid? Okay, maybe that's
a bit of an issue, but I have to think
when there's no pressure on Porzingis to carry the load
or anything, and he's basically your three or four, you've
got the championship medal if you will. In Drew Holiday,
I think Tatum is a superstar. I think he's a

(28:31):
top five player in the league. I don't buy this
crunch time nonsense. Jalen Brown's perfect. They're built so well, Colin.
There is no discernible weakness on this team.

Speaker 1 (28:41):
You know what I want. I want Boston and Denver
to get to the finals, and I want Boston to
look like the better team. And then as they go
to close out Denver in Game six, they get tight,
Oh come on, and they just can't finish, and then
we get a game seven. That's what I want. I
want Boston to outplay him. So it feels like, Okay,

(29:03):
finally the Tatum group's gonna win. And then the one
thing we question, the ability to close, and they have
a terrible Game six. Well then at that point, whoever
wins Game seven is fine, but I want drama.

Speaker 3 (29:16):
And so you're right about some of this late game
stuff in the regular season. Now in the playoffs it
has not been an issue for Boston. I believe, by
the way, some of the best crunch time teams in
the league are out West, and they're not the Nuggets.

Speaker 4 (29:30):
But the Nuggets blow everybody out in playoffs, are gonna
be really good.

Speaker 1 (29:34):
I know people can say the ideal world for our business.
Could I argue Nicks get to the Eastern Conference Finals,
Celtics win it, Celtics win the final, Luca beats Denver
in the Western Conference Finals, gets to it. Luca his
first finals like Lebron's first little overwhelmed, they get beaten five,

(29:59):
Milwaukee house died first series. Major drama with Giannis.

Speaker 4 (30:05):
That would be good and the league would probably love.

Speaker 1 (30:07):
Drama and the Warriors winning one series.

Speaker 3 (30:10):
Warriors getting eight and Lebron getting seven would be ideal.

Speaker 4 (30:14):
I don't know if that's possible. Lakers have to win tonight,
big game tonight, and then Sunday.

Speaker 3 (30:19):
Like you said, NBA scheduled very wisely, right, loaded slate.

Speaker 1 (30:23):
Tonight, and everybody plays tonight and Sunday, everybody up against.

Speaker 4 (30:27):
UFC Saturday night.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
Where you'll be You don't want to go up against
that or me? That's trouble. All right, we'll see you Monday.
