Thirteen years in the NFL, he does these things called
(00:45):
Baldise breakdowns on the Internet NFL Network that I absolutely love.
Made the playoffs three times. Smart dude. He's joining us live.
He'll have a tree as you'll see in his living
room and plum trees in the background in Fort Lauderal.
That's good living right there, my friend.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
Guess hey, Colin, Happy holidays to.
Speaker 1 (01:02):
You, Happy holidays to you. So I want to start
with Detroit. So this league is the NFL has expanded
the league. Uh and this you've seen this in college too.
You're gonna have more injuries. So Detroit was the best
team in the world in October and then they were
good in November. And now I watch their defense and
they are struggling, and I'm wondering you've been on teams
(01:24):
like this where I mean, we saw Patrick Mahomes lose
both tackles and get blown out in the Super Bowl
this morning. This Detroit team does not feel like a
trophy team to me. They don't do they to you?
Speaker 2 (01:38):
Now? Now when you give up five hundred and fifty
yards and forty eight points to Buffalo, and Buffalo is
game planning against their new middle linebacker that they picked
up at the bus stop. We's could have been a
good player. Kwant ale Xander. I don't want to detegrate him,
but he's due to the team and he's been on
the street. And Buffalo went right after him with Tyd
Johnson and James Cook and they got big, chunk plays
(02:00):
against it. And so that's where they're at right now.
There's not much of a pass rush, Cheap quarterbacks and
a half time like Josh Allen had and you do
up forty eight points. If you score forty two, it's
not enough. Yeah, they had a great offensive day. I
mean Jared Goff threw from five hundred yards five touchdowns,
and it wasn't enough. That's not how you win playoff games,
in big playoff games. Tolm.
Speaker 1 (02:21):
Yeah, because so many of those games, by the way,
for a dome team or outdoors and cold and Wendy,
I want to go to another great team that everybody
in this room loves the Eagles, but I said this
week they have the traits of a losing franchise. They
have squabbles on the sidelines, the coach gets disrespected, the
receiver in the quarterback. I'm not sure they get along.
(02:42):
They run through coordinators. I'm not explaining Carolina. I'm explaining
a franchise that you know, they fire super Bowl winning coaches.
Can you be this noisy and win?
Speaker 2 (02:56):
As part of it is you know I live there, Colin, Yeah,
I played for the Eagles. I live right across the
bridge in South Jerseys High and I'm friends with a
lot of guys on the team. It's part of playing
in Philadelphia. It just has they chased some of the
greatest stars in different sports out of Philadelphia, and so
there's always a lot of noise that goes with it.
(03:17):
The only problem I think that the Eagles have is
there a slow starting team.
Speaker 1 (03:22):
Yes, and they can beat.
Speaker 2 (03:24):
You by throwing it like they did last weekendst. Pittsburgh.
They can beat you like they did in the Rams
right there in your backyard. They're calling against the Rams,
and Saquan can run and you know, account for three
hundred yards and they can he can look like the MVP.
The problem when you get to the playoffs some of
these games, the way they're playing, you might only get
eight possessions. And if you start slow and turn it
(03:45):
over once and are trying to figure out what we're
gonna do today, you might you might get you might
get to the game too late. Yeah, And so that's
the only thing is can they ever start fast because
they're the slowest starting team in this league and then
they just steamroll you once they figure it out, and
that that might cost them in a playoff game against
the team that, you know, Green Bay, Minnesota whatever that
(04:07):
kind of comes out hot against them.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
Are you.
Speaker 1 (04:11):
Are you surprised how quickly the Chargers are viable. I
could argue, Baldy, they were the worst team in the
league last year in December and January. I mean they
they gave up sixty to the Raiders December fourteenth. Last
year sixty. That was a bad Raider team. Are you
shocked at how suddenly good they are?
Speaker 2 (04:32):
I am, and I'm not like last year and the
years before they couldn't tackle anybody. Yeah, no, nobody gave
up bigger plays like it was once they got the
ball passed the line of scrimmage, like everybody just whipped
and they were just grabbing air and they were awful.
They're a much better tackling team. Now they got rookie corners.
They've solidified the linebacker corps. This Diane Henley is a
(04:55):
great yes number zero for the Chargers, Like he doesn't
miss attack, so that's part of it. And just this
hardball will. It's just remarkable. He looked like he was
as tense as you can be all game long until
they got into the locker room and they got a
little celebration going on. But I mean, he just wills
this team and everybody responds. I mean, you're seeing guys
(05:17):
last night, we're not sure exactly who some of these
guys are. We know Lad mcconkee. But Darius Davis has
a huge play. This touchdown throw right here is a
remarkable throw to Davis in the end zone. They get
a you know, a fair catch interference free kick at
the end of the half. Nobody gets that, Like, where
did that come from? The go look up to think
(05:39):
nobody even knew the rule. No player even knew the rule.
I think maybe Harball knew it, but he got three
points at the end. They have no time on the clock.
There is a will that he brings to Stanford, to
San Francisco, to Michigan, to San Diego. Wherever he goes,
he brings it and the team responds immediately.
Speaker 1 (05:57):
So listen. The Sandfords forty nine ers still have a
year to play with with Brock Perdy. But the Steelers don't.
And I said this earlier. Pittsburgh is a little like
Seattle plus Denver, whereas they don't need Russ to carry
them like Seattle because a Lynch and Pete in the defense.
But he is valuable and has changed the offense like Denver.
(06:19):
I think I would sign him, But boy, without Pickins,
it's a pretty middling offense. What do you do with Russell?
Because Baldy, we got to be honest. The last year
of Ben Trubisky, Pickett, Mason, Rudolph, it was rough and
it's not rough. It's limited, but it's not rough to
(06:40):
watch anymore. What do you do with russ.
Speaker 2 (06:44):
I think you resigned him. I think you resigned right here.
You might go into the well and see what's out
there in the draft. I don't know that's been a
top flight pick, but I would resign him right now.
I think you know they lost their number one draft
pick to an injury this year, Foretano. He's going to
be a really good player. Trying to build this offense line.
They got two rookies in there, Zach Frazier. It's a
(07:06):
really good player. So they're trying to get better up front.
So it doesn't look like everything is a struggle, because
everything looks like a struggle if you don't just can't
throw a jump ball to Pickens and let him make
some fantastic play and it was awful. They were sticking
the mud against Philadelphia last week, and it looks like
a checkdown offense, and it might look like that tomorrow.
(07:26):
Against Baltimore, and so they want to try to build
in the trenches and they just they're going to get
better there when Fatano gets there next year, they'll get
better up front, they'll run the ball better. And I
think Russell, you get Pickens, you get another receiver. I
think you can open this thing up a little bit
more than what we've watched.
Speaker 1 (07:46):
Finally, are we giving the Kansas City Chiefs respect because
we just admire Reid in Mahomes. If you didn't know
who they were and you just had never watched football,
you'd watch them and go, Yeah, their on line can struggle.
Mahome gets hit a lot. Why is every game close?
They are great on third down? But Kelsey looks old,
you know. But there we get so much buy in
(08:08):
that we're like, well, they'll be fine, and they're not
really fine. What do you make of them?
Speaker 2 (08:13):
Well, I mean, Steve Spagnola is the best coach that's
not a head coach in this whole business. So in
Spags we trust. They just got back Charles Amena, who
who had a big game when you put a rush
line up, Carloftis or Mena who Stone Cold Jones and
Mike Dan up front you might not have to blitz.
There's four guys that can win one on once. Defensively,
they're going to be in every game. And so yes,
(08:35):
the tackle position has been weak like it was five
years ago to Super Bowl. But the you know, and
when you got to take Joe Tooney and take them
from left guard to play them at left tackle just
to get through a game against Cleveland where you're weakening
two positions to fix one, that's not a good sign.
But it's where they're at with the offensive tackle position.
So like, I still think that they're well coached and
(08:58):
defensively they can keep the score down against anybody right now.
Speaker 1 (09:02):
Yeah, hey, you're the Bears, you're the GM. Who would
you hire? I think the job's too big for a coordinator.
I think there's too much turbulence. I want a veteran
pilot to land this plane. What do you think?
Speaker 4 (09:15):
Huh?
Speaker 2 (09:15):
Is Mike Dick available? I mean, you know, they need
a guy that comes in there and just like hardballs,
come in and just change the culture. Yes, the culture
is terrible. You can't have these results evolving door of
consisting coaches and head coaches and coordinators like they have had.
I like to see him take a look at Mike Grabel.
I think Mike Grabel might be a guy I'd like
(09:36):
to see him talk to Steve Spagnolo like that guy
can flat out coach. They've always been a defensive town.
They've got some talent on that side of the ball.
There's two guys that I think deserve a second chance
as a head coach, that I think might do better
the second time around. Right now.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
Yeah, I don't think you're wrong. NFL dot Com check
it out. Personalized view of the NFL schedule Brian Baldinger,
NFL Network Analysts. He's so great, got such good Baldy
breakdowns remain amazing. And the Christmas tree of the palm trees.
Good for you in Fort Lauderdale.
Speaker 2 (10:07):
See you by That's it, all right, Colin, Happy holidays
to you. Yeah, look forward to talk to you down
the road here.
Speaker 1 (10:13):
All right, Brian Baldinger, good stuff.

Okay, Mac, I'm well fire. You know what, your picks
have been pretty good this year. I'm pretty excited for
your picks. J Mac, you gotta be honest with you.
Speaker 6 (11:29):
I'm on here asking chat GPT some questions to help
me break down this SMU Penn State game.
Speaker 3 (11:34):
I got some good stuff for you.
Speaker 1 (11:36):
You know what yat GPT?
Speaker 3 (11:36):
Do you use that?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
By the way, No, I should, though, shouldn't? I?
Speaker 6 (11:39):
Oh, they can answer literally anything. It's really impressive.
Speaker 1 (11:43):
So you just go. Is it CHATGPT dot com? Yeah?
Speaker 3 (11:47):
And then I have a subscription, so I pay every month?
Speaker 4 (11:49):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (11:50):
What do you pay a month?
Speaker 3 (11:51):
I'm not I mean you could look it up. I
think I think it's like twenty.
Speaker 1 (11:54):
Bucks a month, and you can ask unlimited anything in
you don't pay, then you can't ask any But I mean,
like instead of having to Google and sift through, you
just ask and they find it within seconds. If you
wanted to write your Fox Sports digital betting piece, can
it write it for you?
Speaker 3 (12:10):
No, that's nonsense.
Speaker 1 (12:12):
I don't I wouldn't do that.
Speaker 6 (12:13):
You could do that for like a seventh grade social
studies paper on you know, World War two or whatever.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
But so is your pick better than the seventh grade
social studies.
Speaker 6 (12:21):
Over I don't know, But for instance, I just I mean,
we got to do stuff but I just asked, what's
the coldest weather game sm you played in this season?
Speaker 3 (12:29):
Do you know what the answer is? Well, first of all,
do you know what the tempers are going to be
a Penn State.
Speaker 1 (12:33):
Seventeen? Yeah? About that? Okay, I would say forty four
degrees for SMU Wow, good get.
Speaker 6 (12:38):
Forty five Clemson in the ACC title game. And if
you look at how that game started, they were like shook.
They were down what was it twenty one?
Speaker 2 (12:45):
Nothing?
Speaker 3 (12:45):
Early? They were down big. They fought back.
Speaker 1 (12:48):
This thing is check jbt GVT.
Speaker 3 (12:50):
We got Cowherd's breaking.
Speaker 1 (12:51):
Give me twenty bucks. Ask me our question. I'll get close.
I mean I have it. I'll get close, baby, j
Mack with the news.
Speaker 2 (12:58):
No, no, turn on the news.
Speaker 5 (13:01):
This is the Herd Line news.
Speaker 6 (13:04):
More good news for your Kansas City chief actually nicks
Kansas City Chiefs Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 3 (13:10):
He's off the injury report. I mean, what a turnaround
for this guy. Huh, Bionic Mahomes.
Speaker 6 (13:16):
We got to call him that Hollywood Brown will be
playing against the Texans on Saturday. Now, he might be
on a pitch count, but Andy Reid said they expect
him to be a contributor Colin.
Speaker 3 (13:27):
Everything's coming up. Chiefs man.
Speaker 6 (13:29):
Every time you think this team is the run is over,
they're back in the mix.
Speaker 1 (13:34):
You're gonna play through that ankle injury. Hollywood and brownam
a checko.
Speaker 6 (13:39):
I'll be curious how they handled the left tackle situation
because you got Mahomes a little hobbled the ankle of
a one hundred percent.
Speaker 1 (13:45):
We know that and the number one it came out
this week Chiefs minus two and a half, I thought
was the better of the week on the board. Now
it's up, they're three and a half. You can middle
it to stay away. But I thought when it was
two and a half KC even with Carson Wentz Houston
in cold weather, I mean, I don't trust Houston on
the road. Forget cold weather.
Speaker 6 (14:04):
The Chiefs have covered I believe one of their last
seven games, and that was against the lowly Browns and
Jameis Winston. I would not rule this an automatic dub
for the Chiefs. I can't get there.
Speaker 3 (14:15):
You don't think Texas is lot?
Speaker 1 (14:16):
Don't you want to just chat GVT who they like? No,
don't do football picks?
Speaker 3 (14:21):
Uh no, they Well it's not with the spread. I mean,
I haven't tried.
Speaker 1 (14:23):
They can't be predictive.
Speaker 6 (14:25):
Nothing is predictive. That's what's so tough about a football game.
Nothing is predicted. Okay, you can look at trends. By
the way, trend betters have been getting slaughtered this season
because everything's been topsy turvy favorite.
Speaker 1 (14:35):
I'm a trend better. I'm getting crushed. I'm a trend
I take the stee like this weekend. I didn't make
it a blazing five because George Pickens is out, but
the trend would be you take Mike Tongland is the
six and a half point dog in a divisional game.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
He's like, why you just bought blindly betting trends.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
I've been doing that my whole career, getting hitting fifty
five percent. I'm a trend better and I'm getting crushed
this year.
Speaker 6 (14:57):
Yeah, so Chiefs.
Speaker 3 (14:59):
You don't like Chiefs at three and a half right now?
Speaker 7 (15:01):
Like it?
Speaker 1 (15:01):
But I liked him at two and a half because
I don't. There's never been a great covered team, but
I thought people were selling on I still got to
Andy Reid and Travis Kelsey and I still get spags
in the defense.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
Give me Houston money line. By the way, this is
win win.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
Right if the Chiefs lose huge win and I win
the money line bet. If the Texans get destroyed, I
just get to come out here and say how bad
CJ's trapp.
Speaker 1 (15:21):
This is all time. I'm interested in your picks this week.
He got him coming up in fifteen minutes. I'm interested
in your picks.
Speaker 3 (15:26):
You're the only one.
Speaker 1 (15:27):
Oh, I think America is interested you see.
Speaker 3 (15:29):
Next up is the Miami Dolphins. Colin I saw this yesterday.
I didn't know what to make of it.
Speaker 6 (15:34):
So the Dolphins season is cratering. Tyreek Hill is not helping.
Tyreek tweeted, quote time for me to go coach with
no punctuation. Now, our producer was like, well, what if
what if he puts the where does he put the
comma in that sentence? Time for me to go comma coach?
If he had used punctuation, just does that mean he
(15:54):
needs to be the coach and McDaniel's got to go.
Speaker 3 (15:57):
Here's Tyreek Hill explaining his dumb.
Speaker 4 (16:01):
I ain't meant by like I want to get traded
or I want to leave Miami, Like I'm in a
great situation here.
Speaker 3 (16:07):
I love the guys here, I love this organization.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
They obviously changed me and my family's life, and you
know what I'm saying, forever. So I'm in a great spot. Man,
I'm happy. I wish we were playing by the ball.
Speaker 3 (16:18):
But at the end of the day, like I feel
like when I tweet something, it's not always.
Speaker 6 (16:22):
About football, it's about, you know, seeing these other guys
you know, succeed in other areas like Deon Sanders and
stuff like that.
Speaker 1 (16:28):
So so I would just shoot my shot.
Speaker 3 (16:31):
I really have Michael Vick like, hey, it's time for
me to go coach at vic Maybe you know what
I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (16:35):
I believe him. I believe what he's saying. I don't
think he's trying to create something.
Speaker 6 (16:39):
Jalen wattall listed is doubtful. So it'll be the Tyreek
Hill show against saying he has not he has not
had a big game in a long time. I'll tell
you what.
Speaker 1 (16:47):
So, Mike McDaniel, genius tab is that you know, we
need to remain to send that genius card. They have
to turn that card back in Tyreek Hill.
Speaker 6 (16:56):
Look at the stats on the screen in their career
low in touchdown receptions, Colin.
Speaker 3 (17:02):
That is not good.
Speaker 1 (17:03):
No, they're not. He hasn't thrown you Tua has not
thrown a ball twenty yards in the air and completed
it since before Thanksgiving.
Speaker 6 (17:10):
You know, I don't want to get Houston Defense too
much credit, but it looked like they had solved this
McDaniel's offense. They liked that quick fake direction stuff and
then Tua over the middle and they were gobbling, they
were jumping the routes.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Did you hear what Tua? There was a story and
I apologize for not giving people credit. There was a
fascinating story or post the other day. I thought this
was really interesting, is that there was a little bit
of stress that Mike McDaniel's offense has so many changes
in motion that Tua is so busy getting the motion
(17:43):
through that by the time all the motion's done, he
didn't have any time to do anything. That there's too
much complication, there's too much motion, and all of a
sudden you look up and there's two on the clock,
and so that it's a little too clever. There's too
much motion, there's too much there's too many sets, there's
(18:03):
too many variations. And to the to a large degree,
this league is built on physicality. Yeah, I mean Philadelphia
O line, D line great. They don't play around a lot.
They don't do a lot of movement. Little motion here
and there. But I mean we were talking two years ago,
it's like they did more motion than everybody in the league. Well,
you know what, so did San Francisco and neither crushing
it right now? I'm interesting.
Speaker 6 (18:24):
So this this game or when you know, when the
schedule comes out, this looks like a great game. San
Francisco going to Miami in December.
Speaker 3 (18:32):
Big edge for Miami. I don't know. You're on San
fran and I think I might be too.
Speaker 1 (18:36):
San Francisco is Baltimore. They're a lesser version. They're a bully.
When they play an average team or a bad team,
San Francisco plays with a ton of confidence. You line
them up against a good team, they shrink and I
and I think Baltimore has done that. When you line
them up against the good team, they're not the same team.
I like. I always like Shanahan and the Niners. When
(18:59):
they're facing an average to a losing team, they tend
to flex in those spots, may just push them around.
They have enough good players in skill to separate from
bad teams.
Speaker 3 (19:08):
And I know the Niner season is pretty much over.
Speaker 6 (19:10):
But I'll just say this rock Perty is trying to
angle for that big deal. Oh I know, I don't
think he's gonna be like And there's no weather issues,
no wet ball in Miami this weekend, So that's actually
kind of a good game. Final story, Colin, is that
at that time of the year where we hear quarterbacks
giving Christmas gifts to their offensive linemen. Brock Purty gifted
(19:30):
his linemen brand new Toyota Ta Comas. Now I guess
he has a deal with Toyota. Patrick Mahomes got his
lineman Rolexes. Joe Burrow didn't buy from the typical typical
gift registry, instead buying all his linemen individualized katanas.
Speaker 1 (19:48):
How about that.
Speaker 6 (19:49):
It's like a sword, you know, one of those like
cool things that you made, a sharp tool, you know,
like a weapon from karate and stuff.
Speaker 1 (19:58):
Like a Game of Thrones thing or something.
Speaker 6 (20:01):
More more like a from like a Bruce Lee movie
or something like that back in the day.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Not that impressed. That's probably a big deal in Cincinnati.
Maybe I don't think a coastal elite.
Speaker 6 (20:11):
Well, Joe Burrows the kind of guy, what did he
buy a batmobile. He's that kind of into quirky stuff.
He goes to fashion shows and like, yeah, So I
don't know. I know the audience is clamoring to find
out what QB Coward gave his offensive line Starbucks cards.
Speaker 1 (20:25):
I don't know. No Okays, no quarterbacks, the herd line news.
You know, I get you a lawn more. But nobody
in La has a yard because nobody can afford a house. Seriously,
by the way, the college football here's the format we
(20:45):
had Dan Mullen on earlier. Here's the college football playoffs
starts tonight. I think Notre Dame beats Indiana. It's close.
I think Ohio State throttles No. I think Texas throttle's Clemson.
I'll take Ohio's Ohio State narrowly. I'll take Penn State comfortably.
I'll take Notre Dame barely. And I did ask Dan Mullen,
(21:06):
former Florida Mississippi State coach broadcaster. I said, would you
like being a big favorite, the big dog, the favorite
to win it all going in?
Speaker 7 (21:15):
If you're Texas, It's hard to play the chip on
the shoulder card when you're at Texas.
Speaker 2 (21:20):
But I'll tell you what as a coach.
Speaker 7 (21:22):
Both are fun, both are great challenges to go do it,
but there's no way they're gonna get it. Texas has
to go and they have to say, hey, we've played
like a dominant team when we've played people were better
than when we've played people were equal to We have
not shown that. And there are two games against Georgia.
You saw that their offense didn't show up. If you're
gonna play Georgia, you're gonna play the big teams. You
(21:43):
have got to hit explosive plays down the field, throwing
the football, and they haven't been able.
Speaker 2 (21:47):
To do that.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Yeah. Yeah, I like Texas and I like them big
this weekend, all right, j Max picks right around the
corner live in Los Angeles The Herd.
Speaker 5 (21:54):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noone Easter not a im Pacific.
Speaker 6 (22:00):
Don't miss your chance to win free cash prizes playing
Fox Super six sponsored by Draft Kings.
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Go to the Fox Sports app to make your picks.
Speaker 6 (22:08):
One of the questions is which QB we'll have the
most rushing yards. Colin choices are Jaden Daniels versus the Eagles.
Jalen Hurts at the Commanders, Josh Allen versus the Patriots,
or Kyler Murray in Carolina Kyler Murray?
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Really have I been right on some of these this year?
I think I have? Haven't I I don't keep him.
Speaker 3 (22:29):
Score by design?
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Okay, sorry, snarky, all right. College football playoffs starts tonight.
So j Max got picks like the Blazing Five. He's
gonna pivot to some college and pro picks. Here we go.
We call it tomorrow's headlines today Indiana at Notre Dame.
Speaker 6 (22:47):
Yes, snow is falling. South Bend's gonna be popping and chilly.
The headline will be I rish you a merry Christmas, Anna,
Natty New Year. Yes, we're going with the this year.
This week, I should say Christmas New Year.
Speaker 3 (23:03):
And I like Notre Dame a lot.
Speaker 4 (23:05):
Colin.
Speaker 6 (23:05):
I'm looking at some of these rushing numbers. They're one
of the best rushing offenses in the country. Are now
Indiana's run defense.
Speaker 3 (23:10):
Is number one? But who have they played? That's the question.
You know.
Speaker 6 (23:13):
They did hold Michigan and check held them to sixty
nine yards. Ohio State went over one hundred, Washington went
over one hundred. I think Notre Dame has their way.
The big question for me is Notre Dame hasn't faced
a lot of second half adversity.
Speaker 3 (23:25):
Right They've been leading at halftime of every game except
the one lost to the Old in Illinois.
Speaker 6 (23:29):
If Indiana punches them in the mouth, can this ground
game can they play catch up? So mild concern, but
I'll go Notre Dame twenty eight, Indiana seventeen.
Speaker 3 (23:38):
I'll go with the Irish.
Speaker 1 (23:39):
Tomorrow's headlines today Beaver Stadium, Indie Lions Mustangs meet for
the first time since nineteen seventy eight. What say you?
Speaker 6 (23:48):
They're calling for a white out in the snow. It's
snowing literally right now. I don't know if it'll still
be stowing tomorrow. The headline from Happy Valley will be
aller want for Christmas is SMU to I'm going with
Penn State. I've got them locked and loaded in a
couple teasers. Yeah, I really think this is just a
tough spot for SMU.
Speaker 3 (24:07):
Which came off it's game and oh, by the way,
I did look it up.
Speaker 6 (24:12):
Their coldest game was forty five degrees against Clemson in
the ACC title game.
Speaker 3 (24:16):
They came out and looked tight and cold.
Speaker 6 (24:18):
This is gonna be. I'm looking at the temperatures. Looks
like sixteen degrees. Wincho factor may be colder Colin. However,
the only thing I like about SMU is this high
octane offense. They will not stop throwing the football. You know,
if they're down twenty one in this one, they're gonna
spread the field and just chuck and duck and maybe
they come in the back door. Should be a good one.
I know a lot of people, even Klatt like Penn
(24:38):
State's path. I wonder if Penn State does overlook SMU.
Speaker 3 (24:42):
A little bit.
Speaker 6 (24:43):
Oh, we got warm weather team from Dallas coming to
play us, so there is some concern and we know
Franklin has letdowns in big spots. Fortunately, SMU is not
a top five team. So I'll take Penn State tomorrow's headlines. Today,
now we go to warmer Austin. Clem'son at Texas. I
like the whole Horns. Yeah, it's just probably the best
bet on the board. I know, double digits, Jason, what
(25:04):
are you doing the headline? Will the sark the hook
Horns did sing victory for the CFP. I like arch
Manning and quinn Ewers and Sark sark a little combative
in that video. Resow like he doesn't like all these
quarterback questions. But Texas is a very good team. Now,
I got some news here there. There aren't injury reports
(25:27):
in college football the way they are in the NFL. Right,
it's someone doubtful, dang playing so Banks, the left tackle,
who's a top ten pick, for sure, he's been practicing.
Speaker 3 (25:36):
They're saying he's a go.
Speaker 6 (25:37):
Bond, the speedy receiver who's real dynamic, he's got an
ankle dinged up in the Georgia game.
Speaker 3 (25:43):
Unknown, And Texas doesn't have to answer these questions. I'll
tell you if you see.
Speaker 6 (25:46):
Bond in warmups and he's playing, you know they gotta
put it on Clemson. And I gotta ask you, man,
anytime Clemson played a good team this year, Colin what.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Happened against Louisville, they're considered good.
Speaker 6 (25:55):
Clemson lost South Carolina Georgia, like they just they step
upgainst good teams.
Speaker 3 (26:00):
I know they did beat SMU A'll get them.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
This is a home team that's significantly better playing a
team you could argue shouldn't be in. I mean, they're
just in terms of quality, Clemson got housed.
Speaker 6 (26:12):
The only way Clemson's here is that huge kick return
against SMU with like ten seconds left. Yeah, and then
the walk on fresh or maybe not walk up, but
the freshman kicker drills a bomb. You're like, oh my gosh,
you made it. That's the only reason they're here. Clemson's
in trouble.
Speaker 1 (26:25):
Go Texas, same here. This one's really interesting. Tomorrow's headlines
today the tenn SEC showdown in Columbus, Baby volunteers and
buck Eyes.
Speaker 3 (26:34):
You know, I'm a little nervous for Ryan Day.
Speaker 6 (26:35):
We talked about it. I know it's big now. The
seat is always warm in Ohio State. The game won't
be warm. The headline, well, b falla la la loss,
buck Eyes decked the balls.
Speaker 3 (26:49):
I really do like Ohio State.
Speaker 1 (26:51):
They have the better roster they do.
Speaker 3 (26:52):
I know you had.
Speaker 6 (26:53):
Tennessee in the NATTY in the preseason, Colin. I'm looking
them up. I don't know they lost to Arkansas.
Speaker 1 (26:59):
Well, I.
Speaker 6 (27:02):
Did beat Alabama. They did get that one. But is
Alabama good? I watched some of that game. I'm like,
I just don't see dynamic. You watch Tennessee against like,
you know, Directional State University and they win fifty six.
Speaker 3 (27:14):
Nothing. You're like, Oh, Tennessee looks good, but I don't
know that. I see it's going to be sixteen degrees
in Columbus.
Speaker 6 (27:21):
And again, coldest game that Tennessee played in forty one
degrees against Vandy in Nashville.
Speaker 3 (27:27):
This is this is a big drop.
Speaker 6 (27:28):
These teams coming from the south up north, above the
Mason Dixon Line in the cold weather in December, hostile territory. Again,
we've never seen this before. Playoff games on campus sites
in December, We're gonna see it for the first time.
Speaker 3 (27:41):
I think big edge to Ohio State. Give me the Buckeyes.
Speaker 1 (27:43):
All right, let's pivot to pro football. I don't think
it's a great NFL week for lines. I took a
lot of people like the Jets at three. I'll take
the Rams the Bengals.
Speaker 6 (27:56):
Bengals would have been my best play. But that's a
bad game. DTRNE soaring now.
Speaker 1 (28:00):
But tomorrow's headlines today Eagles at the Commanders on Fox Now.
It does have some value for both teams. Commanders don't
stack up, but they are at home.
Speaker 3 (28:13):
They played Philly tough on that Thursday night game.
Speaker 6 (28:16):
And but there's a lot here with the Eagles trying
to get that number one seed. Yeah, the Lions slip
up in Chicago, cold weather game, maybe the Eagles could
steal the number one seed.
Speaker 3 (28:26):
However, the headline.
Speaker 6 (28:28):
Will be ho, ho hold the line Philly tush pushed
into Christmas past. I'm sorry, I'm going with Dan Quinney here,
Colin upset special wow in Washington.
Speaker 3 (28:40):
I know the line's been tricky.
Speaker 6 (28:41):
Your early money on Washington, then it came back on Philly,
and now what to sit now three and a half.
I just I really wonder about AJ Brown. I know
the injury report was grim for Philly. It has gotten better.
Sae Quon's fine. AJ Brown is kind of practicing that.
Speaker 3 (28:56):
Knee is interesting.
Speaker 6 (28:57):
Do you force him into a game here or do
you say we're gonna need him in January? A. J.
Brown is a game breaker. We haven't lost a game
with him. I think they'll be cautious. But at the
same time, this whole Sirianni stuff. Remember Edelman this week
talking about that. I listen, man, that's sidelined. They don't
respect him. I wonder how much of this is gonna
seep because there's a lot of conversation in Philly about
this how much of it seeps into the game against Washington?
(29:19):
And I love what I saw from Washington against the
Saints last week. They were rolling and then the Kingsbury,
you know, took.
Speaker 3 (29:24):
His foot off the gas. I didn't love that.
Speaker 6 (29:27):
But I am gonna go with Washington in a mild
upset here. From the look on your face, you're not ride.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
With Well, it's not. It's more than a mild upset.
Speaker 3 (29:34):
Well, I mean spread three and a half. Washington is good. Listen,
I know everybody loves Tampa as a sleeper in January.
Why not Washington.
Speaker 6 (29:42):
Jane Daniels and McLaurin are clicking offensive lines, looking good.
Brian Robinson's dynamic, Yeah, all right.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Finally, Oh, it's a stinker. Well, it's Michael Pennix that
makes it interesting. You're right, Yeah, it's on Fox. I
want to watch Michael Penick tomorrow. Headlines today the Giants
at the Falcons. It's the Michael Penicks debut. So that's fun.
Speaker 3 (30:05):
It's very exciting.
Speaker 6 (30:06):
And they lined it up for him in a dome
against one of the most injury ravaged teams. Actually, yeah,
there were some reporters who cover the Giants tweeting out
names of guys who've been called up from the practice squad,
and it's like, is.
Speaker 3 (30:17):
This a real player? Are you making up names?
Speaker 6 (30:19):
Headline will be the Pennix Mightier than the Sword? QB
added to Night's list. I think Pennix is in line
for a big one.
Speaker 1 (30:28):
Yeah. They say they've got weapons in a good old
line and he's gonna have some help.
Speaker 6 (30:32):
I'll tell you this, it ain't gonna be worse than
what we've seen from Kirk Cousins for the last.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
Five weeks, you know, and Penix is that all season?
Speaker 6 (30:38):
Remember you were you the one who said the Flacco
to the Lamar Jackson was at your It.
Speaker 1 (30:43):
Feels a little bit like it like it was like
an aging player, a kid that's lighting it up that
we liked in practice. You're hearing reports that he's and
all of a sudden you're like, yeah, the old guy's
getting old fast.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
I mean, if you want to get excited for Michael Penix,
go back and look at what he did in the
college football playoff.
Speaker 1 (30:59):
Go watch what he did to Oregon twice.
Speaker 6 (31:01):
Oh my gosh, this guy can sling it. And you
know you got Darnol Mooney on the outside, Drake London.
They got weapons and I felt like they were being
underutilized with Kirk Cousins, who was just skittish to get
the ball out.
Speaker 3 (31:13):
He just looked uncertain.
Speaker 1 (31:14):
Listen, I'm told this that you. I was told this.
I've been told this by two NFL executives that every
quarterback in this draft class rates higher than shaduor Sanders
the number one quarterback in this class.
Speaker 3 (31:30):
And JJ McCarthy.
Speaker 1 (31:32):
Yeah wow, So what it tells you is this quarterback class.
I mean, you watched both Nick's last night. First half,
We'll pretty impressive and again he's he's got ways to
go and this is not a complete roster. But I
mean Caleb's talented, jayd and Dani's gonna make the playoffs.
Bo Nick's gonna make the playoffs. Yeah, I mean Drake
(31:54):
May has got nothing to work with and he's gotten better.
Speaker 6 (31:57):
Caleb's losing a lot, but his numbers are like, whoa,
this guy's having a good season just holding the ball.
Speaker 1 (32:02):
Say what Drake May. It's like he's not the issue,
like he's one of the shining silver linings. Is Drake May.
Speaker 6 (32:08):
I think what we're gonna see from penix Is. I
would say, what over under thirty ish passes? They're not
gonna They're not putting him in a handoff the ball
every time, right, they got to get to them.
Speaker 3 (32:16):
They gotta get a wink.
Speaker 1 (32:16):
Well, they have a run game.
Speaker 3 (32:18):
They do have a really good run game with Viijon.
Speaker 6 (32:19):
But just watching Pennox last year at Washington, this guy
can just he can carve up defenses. He can make
almost every throw. I think he kind of cooks here.
I'll say Falcons win thirty eight thirteen or something. I
think this is an eye opening and we start talking
about Monday.
Speaker 3 (32:34):
Hey, where's Kirk Cousins quarterbacking?
Speaker 1 (32:36):
Okay, there's gonna be one upset. We do this every Friday,
Thursday Friday. I ask you pick the upset of the weekend.
O boy, I think I'll let you go first. Well,
you have Washington, so I don't even I'll throw this
at you.
Speaker 3 (32:53):
Jets would be my backup.
Speaker 1 (32:54):
Yeah, Chicago at home against him.
Speaker 6 (32:57):
Yeah, that's a good one six and a half I
think is the line rappy weather.
Speaker 1 (33:01):
Chicago's not turning the ball over. I mean, Caleb's not
throwing picks. They're not fumbling it.
Speaker 3 (33:06):
I think they're five and one against the spread at home.
Speaker 1 (33:08):
And I also think Detroit right now, you can you
can put together eight, nine, ten play drives. You can
keep that offensive line off the field.
Speaker 6 (33:16):
What do you think their mindset is after the loss
the injuries, Montgomery.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
I think the Bears are going to win a game
before the season's over, and I think this would this
would be a nice win in the next season, some positivity.
I think Chicago at home is very interesting play. When
it was at seven, the wise guys did like it.
It's down to six and a half now the Sharpshire offense.
Speaker 3 (33:36):
That's a good hit for you if the Bears pulled
that off.
Speaker 1 (33:39):
Save that tape, Brian, let's arcot that. Okay, I'm rarely
very infrequently right this year with pro football. All right,
be safe, great weekend. The third
