Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:24):
Well, Joel Klatt, he's the voice of college football here
and we have a crazy weekend Indiana. Notre Dame starts
on Friday. Marcus Freeman just signed an extension, which doesn't
surprise me because he's really good. There was rumors about
the Bear's job. I want to go to Texas though,
so the last three weeks I've watched him, and I'd
(00:45):
make an argument Ars Manning is a better fit at quarterback.
I don't like going into a playoff and not loving
your quarterback. It feels like they've gotten conservative. To me. Well,
I watch him and I see all that five star talent.
I see it on defense. I don't see it on offense.
Is there any chance if Texas struggled in the first
half and Clemson's got a real defense, they just go
(01:08):
with Arch and they just say it's been bad for
a month. I mean, do you think Stark would do that?
He did it.
Speaker 3 (01:16):
Against Georgia in that first matchup, right, Colin, You know
so like I think that there are certainly elements of
Texas's offense that I believe in more. If Arch is
on the field, he's much more mobile than when you
y and right now he changes the pace of his
throws to a different degree. One of the things, and
(01:38):
I know this is a small thing, but with youers
in there, they have certainly regressed offensively. In fact, you know,
for their last seven games, they've scored twenty points or less. Yeah,
and that's not what you would expect from a Steve
Sarkisian offense. And one of the things that has happened
is that as as yours became more immobile with that
banged up ankle.
Speaker 4 (01:59):
Then the the.
Speaker 3 (02:01):
Level of stress on just the passing game and his
ability to throw guys open went way up. And he
doesn't really do that. He doesn't change the pace on
his throws all that much. He's a float thrower. He
throws with touch almost all the time. He doesn't necessarily
drive into tight windows and really throw guys open. So
because of that, there's a ton of stress on Steve
Sarkisian to scheme guys open for him. Yeah, and when
(02:24):
he faces good defenses, that's tough. So I do think
that there's a little bit of an element. Remember the
Tua Jalen Hurts Alabama team. Remember Nick Saban. He was
toying around with, hey, are we going to be better
with Tua to throw the football rather than Jalen in there?
And then when he had to have it against Georgia
in the National Championship game, he pulled the trigger. I
just wondered to myself, like, if they were struggling, how
(02:45):
short is that leash on quinn yours?
Speaker 4 (02:47):
I think it would be pretty short.
Speaker 1 (02:49):
Okay. So urban Meyer came on yesterday and he said, basically,
Ohio State is going to have to throw their offensive
lines not going to create openings against the SECD line.
It's not And all of a sudden, I look at
the weather, it's thirteen degrees. They lost confidence of Will
Howard in the game against Michigan. I think Tennessee's got
a better defense than Michigan, but they both have great
D lines. I don't know J Mack think that they're
(03:12):
gonna roll. I think this is a I think this
puppy's got twenty three twenty written all over it. I mean,
what do you think it's gonna look like? What's this
game gonna look like? Buckeye's valls.
Speaker 3 (03:26):
So history would suggest that when Ryan Day has has
a poor showing that he fixes it pretty quickly. And
I go back to this, like in twenty nineteen, you
remember they lost to Clemson in that game against Trevor Lawrence,
and then the next year he got another shot at Clemson.
They dropped what was like forty nine on them in
(03:47):
that game. In twenty twenty in the playoff with Justin Field,
they lose to Michigan. They go to the Rose Bowl
face Utah. They dropped forty eight on Utah. That was
twenty twenty one. In twenty twenty two, they lose to Michigan,
still get the playoff. They go face Georgia. They put
forty one on that Georgia team, albeit.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
In a loss.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
And so like to me, when Ryan gets put into
a corner and his offenses get put into a corner
and they don't play as well as they should, he's
got a little bit of a time to evaluate that
he usually comes out swinging, and there is no doubt
they have been even self Admittedly, their game plan against
Michigan was totally wrong.
Speaker 4 (04:24):
Chip Kelly talked about it. So I fully expect Ohio.
Speaker 3 (04:27):
State to come out and play a game in space,
in the passing game, and try to utilize their weapons.
Speaker 4 (04:33):
I really do.
Speaker 3 (04:34):
I don't know if they have to throw the ball
down the field as much as they need to play
the game in space. If they do that, they're going
to score some points because they're too talented not to.
The game plan against Michigan was was wildly conservative. I
think that that game and opponent is more inside of
their heads than anything else.
Speaker 4 (04:51):
So I'm actually going to go opposite of you.
Speaker 3 (04:53):
I think Ohio State comes out and plays really well offensively,
loose offensively, and aggressive offensively, and I think that they're
going to score or quite a few points because of it.
Speaker 1 (05:02):
So is Indiana a fraud like against Ohio State and
beat up on the Rutgers of the world, or can
they play with Notre Dame?
Speaker 3 (05:11):
Well, I mean, look at it this way. Notre Dame
and Indiana are actually fairly similar in that they both
played very weak schedules, and they beat up on those
week schedules. Now it just so happened that Indiana played
one great team. They lost to that one great team
on the road. Notre Dame lost in Northern Illinois at home.
And so I think when you look at this game,
(05:33):
I think Indiana has got a great shot. Of all
the games, this is the one that we could see
an upset. I actually think I even picked an upset.
I think Indiana could absolutely win this game. And the
one reason is is because they're strong right where you
have to be strong in order to beat Notre Dame,
and that's specifically the run defense. Their run defense is
(05:53):
very unique. First of all, from a schematic standpoint. They
don't just force their defensive linemen to take one gap
and day in that area. They let them kind of
play and then the linebackers fit opposite. And it's because
they have all these guys from JMU that played for
their coordinator at JMU. They know this defense. It's a
unique style of defense, and they're the number one rushing
defense in the country. Well, if you can force the
(06:16):
game onto the shoulder of Riley Leonard and the passing game,
then I like your chances. If you're Indiana, because here's
the thing, Curtis Rourke is a better quarterback than Riley Leonard.
If you get into a situation where you just have
to trust the quarterbacks and the offenses, I would trust
Indiana specifically because of that issue with the run defense
against Notre Dame's run offense. The one thing that I
(06:37):
will say, though, is that I don't think Indiana has
seen a run game like Notre Dames at all at all,
So it won't surprise me at all if they struggle
actually stopping the run. But this is the one game
that I would say that the underdog has a good
chance to win.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Okay, two things here we have to address. Everybody now
is selling their stock on Lincoln And I said this
because it's a high profile program. People go, oh, they
lost all these five star guys. None of them were
as good as people thought. Actually they're best receivers. I
totally disagree.
Speaker 3 (07:11):
Zachary Branch was he's fast, an electric player, fast electric player.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
Electric And my take is, then why couldn't they get
in the ball? I mean it was Lemon was the
better receiver.
Speaker 3 (07:22):
You have to ask your coach about that. Colin, do
you think they're do you take a lot of responsibility.
Speaker 1 (07:26):
Well, I mean, if I think he's over, I think
he's a classic, great YouTube highlighter and you get him
in the program and it's like he's a return man.
I don't know. I mean I watched their other four
star guys and they're all lighting it up, and I'm like,
the five star guys not that good. I mean, I
don't know.
Speaker 3 (07:42):
When you lose Deuce and you lose Kyroen Hudson, like,
they've got a major problem. You can explain it away
all you want. No, no, no, they've got a major problem
on their hands. The fact is is that if you
were to sit here three and four years ago, five
years ago, before nil really became a thing, and you
were to say, like, hey, at some point in college
football's future, you're going to have unlimited free agency, unlimited INIL,
(08:06):
and so players can choose where to go, they can
choose what brands they want to play for, in what
markets they want to play in them, you would have
thought to yourself, oh my gosh, that is heaven for USC.
And here we are, and USC right now is spiraling,
and that is a dangerous place to be because when
you lose momentum, it's almost impossible to get it back.
(08:30):
One of the few examples that I've ever seen in
college football history where a coach and a program lost
total momentum and got it back to the point where
they could go win the national championship was Michigan just
a couple of years ago, in the COVID year they
wanted to fire Jim harbaughn All of a sudden, it
was this miraculous turnaround and to the point where they
ended up winning a national championship.
Speaker 4 (08:51):
Can it happen?
Speaker 2 (08:52):
Yes?
Speaker 3 (08:53):
But I got to tell you, like I'm worried for
USC right now.
Speaker 1 (08:57):
Well, I've always been a little more optimistic, very optimistic personality.
Speaker 4 (09:01):
Well, but here's the problem.
Speaker 3 (09:04):
Their roster is going to be less talented next year
than it was this year. And Colin they lost him
to Maryland and to Minnesota. So if you're telling me
their roster is going to be worse from a talent perspective,
how can you expect their team to be better from
a record perspective?
Speaker 1 (09:24):
Well, I don't think the guys they're loser as good
as you think that star system. I don't know. I'm
not big into that I'm in again.
Speaker 3 (09:31):
Is that is a wild take of yours? I gotta
tell you, man, that is who that is.
Speaker 4 (09:39):
Okay, that is some optimism right there. You are an optimist.
Speaker 1 (09:42):
I really am so, urban Meyer said yesterday. Ten years ago,
Belichick would have struggled in college. But now it's all negotiating.
You don't have to go knock on doors. It's just
all negotiating. He'll do fine. What do you make of
Belichick at Carolina?
Speaker 3 (09:56):
I totally agree with urban Meyer. You know, it used
to be that that in college football. It was about
relationships and development in a lot of senses, and you
had to sell the ability of that player to go
to your place and win championships and then go to
the National Football League. That's what recruiting was. It was relationships,
NFL national championships, and it was so few programs that
(10:19):
could dominate those arenas okay, and could really convince guys that, like,
you have to come here, if you want to win
a national championship, you have to come here. Look at
our lineage of players in the National Football League, Okay.
Speaker 4 (10:30):
And now it's different. It's very different.
Speaker 3 (10:33):
Now you've got to evaluate talent and you've got to
do it well because of the transfer portal and recruiting well,
I would argue that Bill Belichick knows what he's doing
as far as evaluating talent.
Speaker 4 (10:44):
Then you've got to value that talent.
Speaker 3 (10:46):
And that's what the difference is now as opposed to
in the past, is that you've got to value that
with the rev share and understand what you're going to
pay these guys. And you can't overpay for guys that
are not going to contribute.
Speaker 4 (10:57):
You just can't.
Speaker 3 (10:58):
And so I think his back ground is going to
pay huge dividends in terms of that. I also believe
that the top of college football is flatter than it's
ever been as far as parody is going, and so
end game situational coaching is becoming much more important than
it was four and five years ago. That's going to
be a big feather in Bill Belichick's hat. And the
last thing that I would say is that right now
(11:19):
there are so many different paths to success in college
football as opposed to seven years ago in the height
of the fourteen playoff colin you had to be Georgia
or Alabama or Ohio State or Clemson because those are
the only teams that could dominate those areas that I
was talking about previous. Now look at these. Four of
the twelve teams in the College Football Playoff are Indiana
(11:42):
with a first year head coach and transfers from JMU.
Kenny Dillingham at Arizona State was picked to finish sixteenth
in the Big twelve. You've got SMU, which is paying
to be in the ACC and not collecting a rev share.
Rhet Lashley brings in all these guys from his time
at Miami, and you've got Boise State.
Speaker 4 (12:02):
So the number of ways.
Speaker 3 (12:03):
To get to the top end of college football and
to find yourself as successful is is.
Speaker 4 (12:09):
There's just more.
Speaker 3 (12:10):
Paths to that now, and so I fully expect Bill
Belichick to work out at North Carolina.
Speaker 2 (12:15):

Speaker 1 (13:22):
Okay, I think we're gonna get close games, Jamax says, blowouts.
You think, Notre Dame Indiana's close, but potential blowout. So
I can't wait. I'm very excited. I am.
Speaker 3 (13:31):
I feel I've got a close game in Texas Clemson.
Oh you think if I was a betting man, I
would take the points with Clemson because I don't think
Texas is going to be able to score thirty or more.
And then I'm just like, the one game I think
could get away from somebody would be Penn State SMU SMU.
Speaker 4 (13:49):
The two best teams they faced all year. They lost.
Speaker 3 (13:52):
Meanwhile, Penn State is like knocking on the door of
that elite status in our sport.
Speaker 1 (13:57):
Good scene, you clap, Joel Clapp.
Speaker 4 (13:59):
It's great to see you. Great to see you.
Speaker 3 (14:01):
I need some of that optimism rubbing off. You've got
some sort of like holiday cheer going on.
Speaker 1 (14:06):
Jmax's been saying it all day. I just, you know what,
I'm just very grateful. It's just I got trees all
around me, and you know, just.
Speaker 4 (14:13):
Very very great at you. I'll tell you what.
Speaker 3 (14:16):
I'm I'm grateful that you have me, only I really am.
Speaker 1 (14:20):
I feel the same.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Great to see you, my man.
Speaker 1 (14:22):
Great to see you, buddy. Jmak. From that point, it's
I don't know if you can top it, that kind
of cheer and that kind of holiday vibe. Jmack with a.
Speaker 2 (14:31):
News turns this is the herdline news.
Speaker 6 (14:37):
I thought Clatt might give me some credit for your
holiday cheer. My just positivity and great vibes rubbing off
on you.
Speaker 1 (14:44):
But I guess well, I think you've always had You're
all you're a glass half fool guy. No, I think
you're kind of uh, you like to stir things up.
That's fun, Lah provocateur.
Speaker 7 (15:00):
Stop it all right, let's go to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Speaker 6 (15:04):
So we'll start with the good news, Patrick Mahomes, who
just announced moments ago.
Speaker 7 (15:07):
He will be starting.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
According to Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes starting, Hollywood Brown is
going to play. But there is some not great news, Colin,
and that's Travis Kelce who's kind of struggling. He has
set a career low in receiving yards per game, yards
per catch, and touchdowns. How are they a one lost
team with Travis Kelsey playing so poorly? He is thirty
five years old.
Speaker 7 (15:29):
We got a little screen of the stats of all.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
I think they're trying to I think they're trying to
give Noah great touches. I think they're trying to get
Xavier Worthy involved. I'm the believer that they could use
him more, but they're trying to get all these other
young players ready because they want to have multiple dimensions
to their offense. And they know Kelsey's great. He'll show
kell in the playoffs. Yeah, so I think they're just
trying to get all these young guys Gray and Worthy.
(15:55):
They just want to get all these guys worked in.
When they get to the playoffs, they're going back their heater.
They're going back to Kelsey. You don't have any concerns.
I don't. In the two I thought, no, Hey, you
go to end at Gronk's career, he was still money
in the big games. You go to Kelsey's career last year, playoffs.
It's just one of those things. Is Travis Kelsey looks
(16:16):
at the sport. He not worry about November Will What
they gotta worry about is Noah Gray. Can you trust him?
When do you find that out? You don't find that
out in January. You find that out in September, October, November.
Speaker 6 (16:27):
Travis Kelsey treating the regular season like the NBA players do.
Speaker 1 (16:30):
I can half to get it except he's available.
Speaker 6 (16:33):
Yeah, you gotta play like what fifty snaps come on
nothing versus a full NBA game? Yeah, what dear coward.
Look at that's smirk. He's a little caught off guard.
All right, let's go to the next story. And wow, Colin,
look at this. Magic Johnson was on Speak yesterday.
Speaker 7 (16:48):
I can't believe I didn't see him. That was my
favorite player growing up. Man, I was a huge Magic fan.
Speaker 6 (16:52):
He has now chimed in on what's wrong with the NBA,
and here's his take on why NBA ratings are falling.
Speaker 1 (17:00):
Who I knew Larry Bird was coming for me right right.
Speaker 8 (17:02):
You see, I said, if we if we line it
up now.
Speaker 7 (17:07):
Right?
Speaker 2 (17:08):
He put on that green, I.
Speaker 4 (17:09):
Put on that Yeah, he ain't playing, come on, man,
right And.
Speaker 8 (17:13):
That's what it's got to get back to that and
it's the reason why the number of viewerships are going down.
And these guys better wake up and say, hey man,
we got to change this.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
And also low management.
Speaker 8 (17:28):
You guy gotta play.
Speaker 4 (17:29):
They gotta play, They gotta play.
Speaker 8 (17:31):
We took pride in playing yes eighty two games like
I wanted to. It's all hurting me ear finger, like
I still want to go mom out there.
Speaker 1 (17:41):
Yeah, I've been I think I don't understand the NBA
Commissioner Adam Silver has not put his foot down on
load management. I just I don't get it. That's an
It's not baseball. It's not one hundred and sixty two games,
and it's not a sport where you have like arm
injuries like you understand when a guy misses a start
in matri baseball.
Speaker 7 (18:00):
You're comparing baseball to basketball.
Speaker 1 (18:02):
No, baseball is more interesting these days.
Speaker 6 (18:04):
But maybe maybe it is more interesting. I'm just saying
from a from a playing perspective. You swing in the bat,
you get three or four at bats a game, and
make it a couple of plays. Here's the other problem.
And I'll go back to my inside.
Speaker 7 (18:16):
The NBA take.
Speaker 6 (18:16):
These guys have made the rings culture so I it's everything.
Speaker 7 (18:21):
Rings are everything.
Speaker 6 (18:22):
Who cares what you do in November or December or January,
it doesn't matter.
Speaker 7 (18:26):
So take those days off and be fresh for the playoffs.
Speaker 6 (18:29):
That's the Rings culture that is instilled by some of
these guys on inside the NBA. That's all Barkley and
Shack talk about, and Colin. I'll be honest, I think
it's great that you know shit. What you say is
SGA is playing so great. They don't have chat Wilbern
and you know what It's not the end of the world.
They lost the NBA Cup because they're gonna be.
Speaker 7 (18:46):
At full strength in the playoffs. Remember, this was your
pick to go to the finals, wasn't it.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Okay, I got I got Boston beating OKAC in the finals.
All why listen, I I'll watch.
Speaker 7 (18:56):
And this whole rivalry thing magic.
Speaker 6 (18:57):
Come on, do you remember when the Lakers were playing
the Celtics are like what, five channels on television, no smartphones,
no streaming, there's a totally different era, Like, oh, it's
just so exhausted getting in this discussion.
Speaker 7 (19:09):
Really, honestly, eighties NBA, do you remember it? There was
maybe one game on TV a week Colling maybe.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Well, in the NFL's got games on every day but Tuesday,
and their ratings keep.
Speaker 6 (19:18):
Going up with they do, but there's only seventeen of
them during the season. You know, once a week, you say, Jason,
can you commit to Sundays?
Speaker 7 (19:24):
But seventeen?
Speaker 6 (19:25):
But it's always been once a week it has now
they haven't had as much Thursday Night.
Speaker 1 (19:30):
And then as the NFL has expanded, their ratings keep
going up. Why because the game has remained viable, electric
and dynamic due to rule changes to help offense. The
NBA has more games on TV like the NFL, and
the ratings are plummeting because it's a ditto, it's carbon copy.
Everybody plays the exact same style.
Speaker 7 (19:52):
So when you.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Look at all these sports have more games, when you.
Speaker 6 (19:56):
Tell the White, hey, football season, I need four months
every I gotta lock it.
Speaker 7 (20:01):
Yeah, that's not a big deal. Do you know what
four months is the NBA season that gets you.
Speaker 1 (20:05):
To like the All Star break? But that was so
just think about it. Every sport has more games on
TV than twenty years ago, all of them. Why is
football the only one skyrocketing up? Well, there's only one
game a week now. That was the case thirty years ago.
Speaker 6 (20:19):
But it Football wasn't on top thirty years ago, by
the way, back in like the eighties, it was not
the ratings juggernaut.
Speaker 1 (20:24):
It was well, it was. It was still.
Speaker 7 (20:26):
Good, but it wasn't like a machine.
Speaker 1 (20:28):
It was still great, it wasn't as dominant. Yeah, so,
but I mean the argument there's only one game a week,
that's always been the case. We only had one game
a week. Why there's a lot of TV ratings going
up and the nbas are going backwards. Baseballs aren't going backwards.
Football is not college football, girls, women's basketball.
Speaker 7 (20:48):
Do you think gambling in the last five years has
helped NFL or what?
Speaker 1 (20:51):
I think it's helped all sports more than anything.
Speaker 7 (20:54):
Prostly, some of those handles are are massive.
Speaker 6 (20:56):
Final story, Colin Mike Evans one of the most underappreciated
receivers in NFL history.
Speaker 7 (21:02):
Can I go there? He's had ten straight seasons over
a thousand yards receiving.
Speaker 6 (21:06):
Mister a few games this year with a hammy, but
his quarterback, Baker Mayfield says he wants Mike to get
eleven straight one thousand yard seasons.
Speaker 9 (21:14):
I'm thinking about it more than Mike is. He helped
himself out. They'll put a little chunk into it. But yeah,
it's all in all winnings the most important part. But
he's a huge part of this offense, and so he
makes a huge difference in, you know, the explosive aspect
of this offense. So trying to get the ball some way, somehow,
but not forcing it.
Speaker 1 (21:34):
No, they're gonna be a tough out.
Speaker 4 (21:35):
I like him.
Speaker 7 (21:36):
Mike Kevin's is a Hall of Famer, right, absolutely, Well, they.
Speaker 6 (21:40):
Just just making sure we're on this good to see
when we agree on stuff. I'm looking at his career, man,
I mean he's had.
Speaker 7 (21:46):
He's only thirty one.
Speaker 6 (21:47):
He's at jamis at quarterback Brady Baker.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
No, he's had, and that's another reason I love him.
He's to have multiple quarterbacks.
Speaker 2 (21:56):
Jamichael the news, Well, that's the news, and thanks for
the Herd Line News. Be sure to catch live editions
of The Herd weekdays and noon eastern non am Pacific
on Fox Sports Radio FS one and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 6 (22:12):
It's a Special Day of Football Saturday on Fox. Catch
the next chapter in a bitter historic rivalry, like Russell
Wilson and the Steelers take on Lamar Jackson and the Ravens.
Speaker 7 (22:23):
It all kicks off Saturday at four eastern on Fox.
Speaker 1 (22:26):
Okay, so a lot of people talk, but what do
your actions lead me to believe?
Speaker 6 (22:33):
So?
Speaker 1 (22:34):
Jmack is a Chiefs hater. He's very critical of the Chiefs.
But I thought today we would take the fourteen playoff
quarterbacks if the playoffs started today. Now, some may get
bumped out, not many. It's getting closer and closer. When
Denver beats the Colts, you're getting closer and closer. If
the Chargers beat Denvers, then I kind of feel like
(22:55):
the AFC is locked in. So these are the fourteen quarterbacks,
so a playoff game, the more in order. I'll let
you start. You're very critical of Mahomes. I believe the
word you use is lucky, so generous. So you were
going to go in the quarterbacks available, We're doing a
quarterback draft for playoff success. You go first. Who would
(23:18):
you take out of all these great quarterba Well.
Speaker 7 (23:20):
That's so kind of you what you're in the holiday spirit.
Speaker 1 (23:22):
I'm gonna put you to the task because I would
take Mahomes without even blinking the guys at one, he's
fifteen and three.
Speaker 7 (23:29):
I don't care about fifteen. I care about this year.
Speaker 1 (23:31):
Colled Okay, go ahead.
Speaker 6 (23:33):
The first pick in the quarterback draft, Jason MacIntyre selects
Josh Allen, quarterback of the Buffalo Bills, who's been the
best quarterback by a mile this season in the league.
I mean, I've got a bunch of stacks, by the
way to win the MVP's minus nine hundred.
Speaker 7 (23:48):
Okay, you bet nine hundred bucks to one one hundred.
Speaker 6 (23:51):
I know the playoffs he is not historically, but awesome,
But who cares. I'm talking about this year and this
Buffalo offense Colin with Cook, Kincaid, k Omens back, they
got so many weapons, and Josh Allen is the ultimate
chess piece.
Speaker 1 (24:04):
He's the number one pick.
Speaker 7 (24:05):
Hands down.
Speaker 1 (24:06):
Yeah, I'm gonna take the guy who's fifteen and three
and is the greatest quarterback postseason record wise we've ever
seen so far. I'm gonna take Patrick Mahomes in eighteen
career playoff games, forty six touchdowns, only nine turnovers, and
again that's against playing like against Belichick and Buffalo. I'm
(24:28):
gonna go Mahomes.
Speaker 6 (24:29):
Oh, this is tough because I really like Lamar Jackson
a lot.
Speaker 7 (24:33):
But with the second pick in the draft, I'm going
with Jalen.
Speaker 6 (24:39):
Hurts in the Philadelphia Eagles. I think there we're aheaded
toward of Bill's Eagles super Bowl. So I get both
quarterback that are gonna be in the Super Bowl this year. Now,
Listen Hurts has been up and down a little bit, obviously,
Saquon Ski, you know, up and down. I just looked
at the Eagles injury report for this week. It ain't great,
but we're talking about the playoffs. Eagles still could get
the number one seed in the bar. They could overtake
(25:01):
Detroit Chance or Slim, but it could happen. And I
just love everything about Jalen Hurts, running, passing, AJ Brown healthy.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
I'm gonna take Matt Stafford, who's on an absolute heater,
ten touchdowns, no turnovers, last five games, and the fact
that the offensive line is healthy, Kyron Williams, Pooka, Nakua,
Cooper Cup, Sean McVay. I'm taking Matt Stafford. I have Patrick,
Mahomes and Matt Stafford of our last three Super Bowls.
Those are the three quarterbacks that have won all the
(25:32):
Super Bowls. I'll have Mahomes and Stafford. By the way,
we're taking our time on this, but that's my second.
So we got four of them off the board. Who's
number five?
Speaker 6 (25:39):
Oh, you're living in the past, number five. This feels
almost too easy. I gotta go Lamar Jackson, who's the
second best quarterback in the league this year after Josh Allen. Again,
I know the historic playoff issues with Lamar, I'm thinking
this year, this is this year draft. Lamar has been fantastic.
Ravens are gonna be live.
Speaker 7 (25:57):
Trust me, I think I talk to some people, it
sounds like this whole Derek Henry struggling. They're saving Henry
Lamar hasn't really been unlock running the ball a lot
would not shock me. If the Ravens are in the
AFC Championship.
Speaker 1 (26:08):
I'll take Jordan Love, who again excellent o line, multiple weapons,
one of the healthier teams in the league, fourth most
passing touchdowns in the NFL the last two years with
missing a month because of injuries. I think Jordan Love's
got a great coach, got a power run game, has
the best collection of young tight end receiver talent. I'd
(26:30):
take Jordan Loves. So I want to.
Speaker 6 (26:32):
I want to steal your guy, Bo Nicks. But but
but there's no way on Earth I could draft him
this high.
Speaker 7 (26:37):
I'm gonna go a little bit a little let's get
a little crazy.
Speaker 6 (26:40):
Let's go with Baker Mayfield again this year. Baker lights out.
Remember Godwin got hurt. Everybody sold their buckstock, Holy col
Baker Mayfield's been tremendous with Mike Evans, that three headed
running back game. Even the tight end Kate Otten showed well. Yeah, listen,
I know it's not gonna be popular. You guys can
laugh all you want, but the way Baker's playing right now,
I Tampa's gonna be dangerous in the NFC.
Speaker 1 (27:02):
I'm gonna take Jared Goff with that great offensive line. Listen,
Golf has played a lot of playoff games. Eight and
he's five hundred, so he has played eight playoff games.
I think that experience matters. I like Donald, He's never
had a playoff start, and they led the Rams not
only do a Super Bowl, he lost to the Patriots.
I think Goff has overlooked the fact that you take
(27:23):
Baker over Golf in a playoff game. Interesting. So we
got nine guys off the board, eight or nine.
Speaker 7 (27:28):
Do you know who won head to head this year?
Speaker 1 (27:29):
Right in that game?
Speaker 6 (27:33):
Listen, I love Justin Hurber as much as the next guy.
I don't know about their chances. If they lose this weekend,
they're gonna be tasting.
Speaker 7 (27:39):
The Bills are chiefs in the first round. That's a loss.
Speaker 6 (27:41):
So I am gonna go a little surprise here and
go with Sam Donald slinging Sammy d only because I
think the Vikings are gonna have a shot in the NFC,
and I think Darnald can make a run Colin. This
kid is lights out indoors. You know, we'll see what
happens when he goes outdoors. But I like everything I've
seen from Darnald's. Some people saying, hey, fringe MVP votes.
(28:02):
Is he going to be the most sought after quarterback
in free agency? It's all because he's been awesome this year.
Speaker 1 (28:07):
I'll take Justin Herbert, who has gone eleven straight games
at one point this year without an interception. I think
the loss of JK. Dobbins has hurt him significantly. But
you're talking about I mean, let's be honest. We both
think he's a top six quarterback in the league. And
we're ten quarterbacks into this thing.
Speaker 7 (28:22):
That's a deal.
Speaker 1 (28:23):
I get Harbaugh Slater at left tackle. I tend to
think Lad McConkie's pretty special. By the way, Hayden Hurst
activated tonight, good tight end. I'll take the Chargers tonight
to win, and I'll take Justin Herbert.
Speaker 7 (28:36):
Yeah, that may be a whiff by me on that one.
I'll go Jaydon Daniels Washington. I like this kid. I
know they kind of played with their food against the.
Speaker 6 (28:43):
Saints, but man, this kid comes out strong start to games.
Look what they've been doing first quarter recently. Jadan Daniels
would be my guy there.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
Next up on the board, I would take c J.
Stroud Again, not a lot of playoffics. You know, he's
one in one career in the playoffs, so he's been
there before. Bo Nicks hasn't. I think c J. Stroud's good.
It's a hard team for me to figure out. They
beat the Bills earlier this season. There they dominated the Dolphins.
I never know quite what I'm getting, but I would
take c J. Stroud my final pick.
Speaker 6 (29:12):
I believe we're down to I only see two names here,
and I'm gonna have to go with my doppelganger, Russell Wilson. Yes, listen,
once he gets Pickens back and it looks like Pickens
and slaves to play. This isn't dangerous. Russell Wilson, him
and Arthur Smith really vibing. They just need Pickens to
invigorate the deep ball.
Speaker 7 (29:31):
I'll go Russell Wilson with my final pay.
Speaker 1 (29:33):
I'll take bone Knicks. And something interesting about Bonnicks that
doesn't get discussed. Do you know how he has the
sixth most rushing attempts this year. He runs a lot
and he's really a quick, twitchy, athletic kid. So and
and again, Sean Payton is part of the reason I
like him. So let's look at j max picks and
my picks and see, uh see who got the better
(29:56):
crop of quarterbacks. Obviously I get my home so I
feel good about that.
Speaker 7 (30:00):
I feel pretty great having Josh Allen.
Speaker 1 (30:02):
I get the Mahomes, Stafford Love Golf, Herbert Stroud bow.
Speaker 6 (30:07):
You know what would make this interesting is one of
the producers said, why don't we tally playoff victories?
Speaker 7 (30:12):
You see at the end of the postseason, Now how
things stack up. I have a feeling.
Speaker 1 (30:17):
I'm surprised here that you went Jalen Hurts your second quarterback.
Speaker 2 (30:25):
What do you mean Eagles? You had them?
Speaker 7 (30:26):
Did you have them? Number one?
Speaker 1 (30:28):
No?
Speaker 7 (30:28):
On the Hurt hierarchy.
Speaker 1 (30:30):
I like them, but if they win in the playoffs,
Saquon Barkley and A J. Brown, in my opinion, will
have to be substantial.
Speaker 7 (30:39):
You know who gets in the ball, right, Jalen Hurts
hands it off to them and throws it to them.
He's the He's the guy down on Jalen. Now we
all love.
Speaker 1 (30:49):
I can't believe I got Justin Herbert as the tenth quarterback.
Speaker 6 (30:54):
Taken well, and he's gonna have Dobbins at that point.
But by the way, on Stafford, they might not even
make the playoffs.
Speaker 7 (31:00):
You took him second.
Speaker 1 (31:01):
I think he's pretty good if the Jets beat him this.
My sources are telling me Matt Stafford is good breaking
impeccable sources
