Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (00:25):
Senior national writer, Foxsports dot Com, Fox NFL Kickoff, NFL
Kickoff Sundays in the Fall on Fox. I think he
replaced me. I think that. I think that's what happened
is Bosses came down and said, Shreger, get rid of coward.
That's what I remember. You kick me to the curb gladly,
and he's joining us. Peter Schregers now joining us. That's
how I recall. That's what I remember about it. They
(00:47):
upgraded the show, that's what they if. I recall that
they needed to make an upgrade information guy. So you know,
we were talking about this all. It doesn't matter if
it's a small market or a big market. There's fatigue.
I lived in Connecticut. I love the Patriots, I love
fought but after a while I was like, I get
everybody else getting bored to death. Do you think there's
(01:07):
a Chiefs fatigue setting in?
Speaker 3 (01:10):
It's the biggest topic of the week, which is interesting
because if we're so fatigued by it, why are we
still talking about it? And it's funny because the ratings
came out on Sunday and it was fifty seven million
people tuned into CBS to hear Nance and Romo call
that game. I would say they might be wearing a
different hat this time, abound. It used to be this
wholesome Midwest story of Clark Hunt's family with Lamar the dad,
(01:32):
and they finally win the AFC Trophy first time in
fifty years, and they're going and then it was okay,
we like this guy Kelsey, And now it's like people
are sick of seeing Kelsey's brother and Kelsey's brother's sis
wife and the mom and the dad, and Swift's mom
and Swiss dad and Andy Reid doing state farm commercials.
Bundle Ruski, I think there's that, But I also think
(01:53):
this happened with the Patriots also, and it's okay to
wear the black hat as a team and they're leaning in.
You had Andy Reid on yesterday, and I don't know
if you've spoken to any other people in that building personally,
but like they kind of like this role. Come and
beat us, Come and beat us. And it reminds me
of the old Howard Stern movie Private Parts where pig
Vomit played by Great Paul Giamatti is how come everyone?
(02:18):
How come the ratings are so high? And he has
a research guy do it, and the research guy says, well,
people love him. And for the people that love him,
we asked him and a million people said they love
to hear what he's going to say next, and he goes, okay,
but what about everyone else? And they said yeah, yeah,
Well two million people chimed in and said they like
tuning in because they want to hear what he has
to say next. And it's the two million people who
don't like him. So this is just what comes with success.
(02:40):
And to put a button on it, we had Brady
on obviously, I work with Gronk and Edelman on Sundays.
We've got Belichick on every media thing that can imagine,
and even the mccordy brothers have Josh like, we're going
to come full circle on this thing too. And you'll
see that a lot of these people who are part
of the Chiefs five ten years from now, They're going
to be lovable, warm, embraced care even if they're hated
(03:01):
right now.
Speaker 1 (03:01):
You know, the Eagles, I think have the better roster overall.
It's getting better for the Super Bowl, is it not.
Speaker 3 (03:08):
There's a little window now. So Brandon Graham is their leader,
and he has been missing for most of the season,
and it was all but assumed he was done for
the year, but this little window emerged that he could
be activated, and this could be the storyline of Super
Bowl Sunday if they can get him up to speed
despite his injury and get him on the field for
the actual Super Bowl. This was not even a consideration
early season, but he has been recovering and they would
(03:31):
love to the very least have him to be a
part of this team running out of the tunnel. Of course,
Brandon Graham not only on the last Super Bowl team
that played Kansas City, but the Super Bowl hero that
stripped Tom Brady in twenty eighteen up in Minnesota. So
the Eagles are hoping not only do they get Jurgens
healthier and they get everyone on that offensive line good
to go, but they might have their defensive leader, even
(03:51):
if he's just playing a few steps. To have him
dressed and in uniform and ready to go would be
huge for the Eagles against the Chiefs.
Speaker 1 (03:58):
So the Senior Bowl has been happening here in Mobile, Alabama,
and there's a lot of draft talk. The sense is
it's not a great draft at the top, it's not
very good at quarterback draft. All your sources in the NFL,
I mean, this is the positioning time. I mean you
got new coaches, new staffs, draft picks getting discussed in
this kind of off week before we get to Super
(04:21):
Bowl week. What are you hearing around the NFL? The
Shrine Bowl, the down in Mobile.
Speaker 3 (04:28):
It all starts now. There's a bowl game tonight, the
Shrine Bowls down in Dallas, and then on Saturday you've
got the Senior Bowl. But what happens is the entire
front office for teams descend upon Mobile. And it's not
just let's watch the players. It's gossip season. Also, it's
you start figuring out your boards because there's groupthink and Okay,
well this guy's better than this guy, and this guy's
(04:49):
better than this guy, and this position group's better. The
big takeaway I've gotten having not been in Mobile, but
talking to everybody is one not a quarterback draft. So
every year we see the quarterback get bumped up, and
in this case it would be cam Ward and Shadora Sanders.
Will they get bumped up enough to be one two?
Despite the fact that guys like Travis Hunter and Abdul
(05:09):
Carter and Tyler Warren are objectively viewed as much better
prospects in this year's draft class. But we see the
quarterback position because of how important it is, rise that's
going to be a storyline. Also, the running back class
is absolutely loaded in this year's draft, and you say, well,
we don't value running backs anymore, so you won't see
them go. Do we not value running backs anymore? Is
(05:31):
that going to come full circle? Based on the impact
that we've seen from Saquan in Philadelphia, Derrick Henry in Baltimore,
of course, Josh Jacobs in Green Bay than the young
guys Bjean Robinson and Jamier Gibbs were both taken as
first round picks two years ago, and both those guys
are two of the top ten offensive players in the NFL.
So the running back position led of course by Gentry,
(05:51):
who's the kid from Boise State, but it can go
five to six deep. I just think it's a really
interesting draft and that the positions that matter are not
necessarily the positions that are are going to be the
best in this year's draft. So defensive tackles rich, tight
ends rich, and running backs rich. Traditionally, those are not
position groups you see go in the top three, four, five.
Speaker 1 (06:10):
Yeah. By the way, what Super Bowl Week look like
for you? Obviously there's executives down there. What's that look
like for you?
Speaker 2 (06:17):
It's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (06:18):
Cool, because I think for me it goes full circle.
I started off in two thousand and five covering it
for Foxsports dot Com and on Monday Night on Fox
Sports One. I'm gonna be hosting the Fox's Super Bowl
Opening Media Night, and it's gonna be simulcasted with the NFL,
but it's that event where the first see the teams
and all the media is welcome to come, and it's
(06:39):
that kind of Monday night. Let's break through the ribbon
and let's get out there, and I'll be hosting it
with Carrissa and Mark Sanchez and Cooper Manning will be
with me down there in New Orleans and then Super
Bowl Sunday, Colin, I'll be a prominent piece to it.
I'll be working with the Big Show and that's with
Strahan and Howie and Tarry in those guys. But we've
got like a ten hour pregame show and I'll be
at the Eagles Hotel before before they even wake up,
(07:01):
and I'll be stationed there and I'll be giving you
all the latest updates all the way to the road
to the stadium and then right off it's a kickoffs.
So really excited. Obviously I'll be doing stuff for Good
Morning Football in the morning, but I am pumped to
be a part of the Monday night and then of
course Sunday and then I'll be there postgame on the
field interviewing the players of the winning team. And this year,
unlike others like I think it's a pick, I'm here
(07:23):
in this one. This is really close between these two teams,
and even though either way, so we'll see if I'll
be celebrating with Kevin Hart or Paul Rudd, We'll see.
Speaker 1 (07:31):
Great seeing you, my man, Peter schreg Or Fox Sports.
Thanks Buddy love being on Seacom. Yep, it's U and
of course the losing team's fan base will blame the officials.
You can just chalk that up to that's what's going
to happen.
Speaker 2 (07:43):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
in noon Easter nin am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.
Speaker 1 (07:53):
Jmac with the News.
Speaker 2 (07:57):
Turn on the news. This is the Herd Line News.
Speaker 4 (08:01):
All right, let's start out with Saquon Barkley, who's obviously
been tremendous all season.
Speaker 5 (08:06):
Now, some of us saw this coming, including this show.
Speaker 4 (08:08):
However, one of our teammates here at FS one, Chris Broussard,
believes that Saquon Barkley has had more of an impact
than Christian McCaffrey had on the Niners.
Speaker 6 (08:20):
Y'all laughed at me when I say he's gonna have
a Christian McCaffrey type impact. He's going way beyond Christian McCaffrey.
Speaker 1 (08:29):
That's true.
Speaker 6 (08:30):
And what this shows you they've always had a great
run game. You put an elite back behind that offensive
line in Philadelphia and this is what you get and
so let's just enjoy it.
Speaker 2 (08:45):
Yeah, and he's gonna do this for the next few years.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Yeah, you know, it is interesting. Not all players are
the same players based on where you put them. Saquon
with the Giants, I mean he just he would get
contact at the line scrimmage. Saqon with the Eagles often
doesn't see contact for four to five yards, sometimes more
than that. So like McCaffrey with Carolina is one player,
(09:10):
McCaffrey with Shanahan and the Niners is a much better player.
And that and that is when you take that is
what the best gms do is that you spot great
players not in great situations. Yeah, and and they're undervalued
saq I mean again, it was we thought it was
obvious with this old line and A. J. Brown is
(09:30):
such a big component of this because you can't cheat
as a safety against the Eagles. You have to shade
your coverage to the sidelines, which means if he gets
to the first line, how many big runs has he
had in the last six weeks.
Speaker 5 (09:43):
He feels like a sixty yard touchdown every week.
Speaker 1 (09:44):
Yeah, So it's just they're they're I mean, McCaffrey was
always good and then you watch him when he was
healthy with the Niners, it's like, oh, Shanahan doesn't lose
with him. And it's the same with Barkley you're like,
is he a top five running back of all time? Yeah?
Speaker 4 (09:55):
The numbers on the screen are twenty twenty two, his
first season with the Niners. That was the year that
brought Py got injured in the NFC Title Game.
Speaker 5 (10:02):
So the numbers are down a little bit.
Speaker 4 (10:04):
You look at his numbers last year and they're like
saque in the postseason, I mean, just unbelievable. I hope
they could do it in the Super Bowl. You think
there's a would you bet atm MVP.
Speaker 1 (10:12):
Or Oh, I'd have no problem doing it because earlier
I said Kelsey, no, no, no, I didn't predict Kelsey. I said, now,
do you think it's possible? This is a very good
tight end game between Goddard and Kelsey. You're talking elite tied.
I mean, like there are these are the two best teams,
and they're here for a reason. These are great rosters.
Kansas City's is great and nobody quite gives it the credit.
(10:35):
Philadelphia is great, and we all know.
Speaker 5 (10:37):
What Detroit Lions fans right now are upset with you.
Speaker 1 (10:39):
Yeah they're they're they're rosters good too, but they're not
as elusive at quarterbacks.
Speaker 5 (10:43):
Were talking about them in headlines shortly and not in
a good way. All right, let's move on to the
next story.
Speaker 4 (10:47):
As the New England Patriots your team of destiny next season.
Speaker 5 (10:51):
I know you love them. Colin Vrabel's now with the Helm.
Speaker 4 (10:54):
He brought back Josh McDaniels as OC to help Drake
May in year two. With the return McDaniel's former Patriot
and three times Super Bowl champ, James White has chimed in.
Speaker 5 (11:05):
He believes it was the perfect tire for New England
and Drake Nate.
Speaker 7 (11:09):
From what I've watched from afar from this offense over
the last couple of years, it's been a lack of
details and a lack of execution, and that will be
the two things you know that Josh will emphasize the most.
You know, the meetings, it's gotta make sure you're a
ten of in there to walk throughs, make sure you're
in tent of in there. On the field, He's gonna
make sure you're a tent of out there and doing
the right things. He doesn't miss a beat for Drake May.
(11:31):
I think it's perfect too. You saw he there for
Max Jones and his rookie year had a great rookie year.
You know then you know, Josh ended up leaving that.
It became a little bit more difficult.
Speaker 1 (11:40):
After that, very very interested. I'm gonna call my friend
Vrabel at some time, maybe sit down and chop it
up on the personnel.
Speaker 5 (11:49):
Well, when are you gonna hang?
Speaker 4 (11:50):
Are you gonna bring all these friends to the set
at the Super Bowl? You're gonna let's set up a
gathering if you will. Can I get in on that action?
Speaker 1 (11:57):
I would say that a lot of times my friends
are insiders and they don't like to be in the sun.
They've worked their power in the shadows.
Speaker 8 (12:05):
Believable.
Speaker 5 (12:06):
The final story is Shadeur Sanders Shocker.
Speaker 4 (12:08):
He's not participating in the East West Shrine Bowl today,
but he did meet with a lot of quarterback needy
teams who were at the top of the draft. Then
Shadur met with the media and was asked how his
experience at Jackson State and Colorado have helped him prepare
for the next level.
Speaker 9 (12:24):
It is definitely a truly grateful experience going there and
experienced that and knowing that's my foundation. Then going to
Power five and experiencing that also, So we went we
changed the program in Jackson, We went to Colorado, change
the program, and we did everything people didn't think we
was able to do. So that's why I know him
the most guarantee risk you could take.
Speaker 5 (12:47):
I think the most guaranteed risk you can take.
Speaker 2 (12:50):
Well.
Speaker 1 (12:50):
I think he's a good solid quarterback prospect, good solid
B plus cam Ward B plus. I think Cam's more athletics.
Chadurs a bet. What did you like more coming out?
JJ McCarthy or Shadur? I think they'll both be prospects,
Pennix or Shador. Penix shws a better ball, butch throws
a really good ball too. I would say there are
(13:12):
very few A prospects, and a lot of it's not
on their college stats. I mean, schad't win a ton
of games. That's not why that Josh Allen was in
a prospect mel Kiper called him top ten prospect ever
a quarterback. Yeah, Elway was.
Speaker 4 (13:25):
I don't know that everybody realizes how tough it is
for GMS when you've got a quarterback. Essentially, if you
draft Shadur, you are linking yourself to him the same
way the Jets drafted Zach Wilson and the Bears drafted
justin fields, you fail on a top first round pick
at quarterback and there's a good chance are out of
a job in three years. The amount of homework involved
(13:47):
in digging into Shaduur his background, his skills, his abilities,
It's beyond just watching tape him carve up Colorado State,
Like that doesn't really mean much.
Speaker 5 (13:57):
This is a tough decision. It's I don't you know.
Maybe he does fall to six. There's a chance.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
That's why the Rams with Matt Stafford, if they wanted
to move him, would get a first and the second,
maybe a third like you can get. It's not there
are no guarantee. I'll say this, I would not be
surprised if a quarterback taken in the second round is
the best quarterback.
Speaker 4 (14:21):
Well, he's probably going to a decent team at that point,
right second round dumpster fire like you know Tennessee or
the Jets or you know.
Speaker 1 (14:28):
Somebody's there's going to be a quarterback. I think I
know it is going mid to late second round and
he's going to go to a good team.
Speaker 5 (14:34):
Let's go ahead and say you love this guy? You guys,
are you?
Speaker 4 (14:36):
Is he gonna couple on the show leading up to
the draft, like your boy Bo Nix Last year.
Speaker 1 (14:39):
I only bring winners on. I think I can fit
him in.
Speaker 5 (14:43):
Trash talking. He's just reaching Jordan levels here.
Speaker 1 (14:46):
Goodness, please j mack with a news.
Speaker 2 (14:49):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the Herd.
Speaker 1 (14:53):
Line new We'll put to Tom Brady interview on the
podcast if you want to listen to it. I did
think h I was like the think. It was the
first question I asked Tom that I really liked. He
went into detail about you know, I said, two weeks
to prepare for a game, I'd be bored out of
my mind. You've looked at how much film? And he
said he liked the extra prent for the super Bowl.
Speaker 8 (15:17):
One of my best kind of memories from the Super
Bowl twenty fourteen. We're playing the Legion of Boom and
it's Friday night before the Super Bowl and I wasn't
feeling great about the Red Area package we had, and
I went in and Josh McDaniels is in the staff room,
and I said, hey, we got to go the Red Area.
I said, it's just too hard down there. They'd play
(15:40):
too much zone. And if I looked at the left
earl moves to the left. I looked at the right,
Earl moves to the right. So we install three plays
on Friday night, after two weeks of preparation. All the
practice is done, and one of the touchdowns is to
Jojo Lafel the first one of the game, and the
second one is to Danny A. Mondola later that game,
(16:00):
And we hadn't practiced them at all for eleven days,
and it was just I like to use every minute
of prep going up into those games because they're the
hardest ones to win.
Speaker 1 (16:10):
Yeah, I mean it's interesting a lot of teams who
are solid with maybe like a great quarterback the Colts
with Andrew Luck can get to a conference championship. You
have to be a great team to get to a
conference championship. You have to be really good. But the
hardest two games to win are the conference championship in
the Super Bowl. So you know, you got a seventeen game,
(16:31):
eighteen week schedule, They're gonna add another game and at
the end, like the final exam is much tougher than
the midterms and the weekly tests, So every little ounce.
I mean, you go back to that Seahawk Patriot Malcolm
Butler interception. It came down to a play that I
literally reaction prep, luck, fortitude, whatever it is. Jmack, He's
(16:58):
got his headlines, He's ready to roll. Live from Los Angeles,
It's the Herd.

Speaker 5 (18:21):
We'll be joined by special guests all week long.
Speaker 1 (18:23):
Can't wait for Super Bowl Week on FS one. You know,
it's interesting you grew up in the East Coast and
have never been to New Orleans. Great? That really a shock.
Great yeah, great food city. And it's like being from
the West Coast and never be into Vegas. Oh stop it, come.
Speaker 4 (18:39):
On, New Orleans is not that close to I mean
Las Vegas for forty five minutes, it's not that close
to it.
Speaker 5 (18:43):
I was Northeast. It's a little different.
Speaker 4 (18:46):
But uh, in New Orleans like a top ten city
in the country for partying, would you.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
Say, I think yeah, yeah, I think it is. It's
it's known as a great uh. Not only has it
got great food and drink, but the quality of service
is amazing, Like it's a really they treat you, the
restaurant tours and the staffs. I mean, every time you
go to New Orleans and you go to dinner or lunch,
you feel special.
Speaker 5 (19:06):
Have you locked up any Michelin Star restaurant?
Speaker 1 (19:08):
Right? I don't do Michelin Star restaurants. I don't do
French food right now? Now, what you could talk me
into a cocktail and some oysters at noon? That part
I'm willing to go. Okay, Yeah, we can have some
fun here.
Speaker 5 (19:22):
We That's cool that you want to hang out with me.
Speaker 4 (19:24):
You know, I know you like to keep your distance
when you're around the important people.
Speaker 1 (19:28):
Like after mos Goff drops forty on you tonight, you'll
be so beaten down you'll need a friend. All right.
We call it Tomorrow's headlines today Jay Max Dodent on Thursday,
best of her Tomorrow. So what's the headline going to
be for the team without a coach? Speaking of New Orleans?
To say, so, we're trying.
Speaker 4 (19:45):
To tackle some coaches and outlooks for the season in
New Orleans. They seem like they've zeroed in on one guy.
They punted on McCarthy. The headline will be Shaints hire
a coach yet more or less. Yeh, Kellen Moore, it
seems like he's ticketed to New Orleans. I said earlier
this week, I think McCarthy dodged one here. I don't
think this is a great job, Colin. I'm looking at
(20:06):
the breakdowns.
Speaker 5 (20:06):
They are negative seventy million in.
Speaker 1 (20:08):
Caps maas, No, they're in big trouble.
Speaker 5 (20:10):
That's brutal. Four straight losing seasons.
Speaker 4 (20:12):
I mean, if you look at their roster, one of
the best players they had this year was Taysom Hill.
He's thirty five and they're probably gonna have to move
off him for the financial reasons.
Speaker 5 (20:21):
Carr was a bit of a disease.
Speaker 1 (20:22):
They are three and twenty against playoff teams since Sean Payton.
Speaker 4 (20:26):
Went as a shocking stat I mean, basically they are
a mess. I can't find any positives here. They need
basically everything. Like you look at the offensive line, they
could lose two much total rebuild, a complete rebuild. I
don't see why Kellen Moore is leaving the Eagles for this.
It's like you're literally going penthouse to the outhouse, and
I think it's a tough uphill climb for him.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
All right, how about this one tomorrow's headlines today? This
is an interesting one. I let's look at the headline
for Aaron. I've actually, I think kind of pivoted to
a positive Aaron just becau because I thought he played
well the last two months.
Speaker 5 (21:01):
Yes, smoking mirrors.
Speaker 4 (21:03):
It's it's very fascinating the way the wording and the
messaging from Aaron Glenn on Aaron Rodgers, and it was
not an overconfident he's our guy, we wanted back, blah
blah blah. It was more like, hey, this is about
the team. As such, the headline for Aaron Rodgers will
be now you can spiracy me, now you don't.
Speaker 5 (21:21):
Rogers vanishes to Vegas.
Speaker 1 (21:23):
Interesting. This is a bit interesting.
Speaker 5 (21:26):
I think the Raiders have to get interesting here. Like
you said, Pete Carroll's seventy.
Speaker 4 (21:29):
Three, he's gonna want to win now they're not winning
now with Aid and O'Connell or you know, probably gonna
move on quarterback.
Speaker 1 (21:35):
Yeah.
Speaker 5 (21:35):
However, there is a.
Speaker 4 (21:37):
Situation where Aaron Rodgers goes there and I don't know
if you remember, but him and Pete Carroll had a
showdown in the PAC twelve way back.
Speaker 5 (21:44):
Might have been the packed time. I remember that game.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
I remember watching that game.
Speaker 5 (21:47):
It was Rogers and Marshawn Lyndz.
Speaker 4 (21:48):
They have Pete Carroll, Matt Lioner and that stack team
and Rogers had like an amazing game.
Speaker 5 (21:52):
I think like eighteen straight complete.
Speaker 1 (21:54):
I remember that game.
Speaker 5 (21:55):
I watched it.
Speaker 1 (21:55):
I watched it at a wedding in Oregon. I was
on a side TV watching it. Yeah, very good game.
Speaker 4 (22:00):
And I just wonder if there's a whirldwhere, hey, we
can rekindle something here. The Raiders actually are in decent shape. However,
I did look this up. Their defense has some issues.
We'll get too shortly. But I just wonder if Rogers
goes to Vegas feels like his kind of town, comes
closer to the West, gets away from the New York. No, yeah,
(22:20):
I think he could fit there with Pete Carroll.
Speaker 1 (22:22):
Yeah, I don't think that's bad. I think. And by
the way, they've got both tackles, a great target, and
a center. They need to back a quarterback and a
receiver if the offense is potentially pretty interesting. Tomorrow's headlines today,
so Pete Carroll is the new coach of the Raiders.
What do you make of it?
Speaker 4 (22:41):
So Pete Carroll aira Rodgers, how would they fare together
in the toughest, maybe second toughest division in football. The
headline will be darkness repeat, Rogers and Carroll fall into
black hole.
Speaker 5 (22:56):
I had to have fun with it.
Speaker 4 (22:57):
I thought they did a good job. Like I said,
with the Raiders defense. Defense, they have ten defensive free agents.
Colin seven are starters. Five of their front seven all
free agents. They want to keep the safety Morrig. Yeah,
he's very good, very much, But like I mean, in
that division, you lose a bunch of defenders facing Herbert,
your guy, Bo Nixon, Peyton, and then of course Patrick
Mahomes and the Chiefs.
Speaker 5 (23:17):
I don't see a path to success.
Speaker 4 (23:18):
Whether it's Aaron Rodgers, aid and O'Connell, Pete Carroll has
an uphill climb. Now, like you said, the offense is good,
but the defense, which is what they hung their hat
on last year, defense was good. Statistically, I think they
got some work to do. I don't see this as
a playoff team in twenty twenty five.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Now, I want you to be objective on this next one.
Because I am predicting this next team is the Washington
Commanders of this year, which is they're my surprise playoff team.
Tomorrow's headlines today, Mike Vrabel returns the familiar stomping grounds,
(23:53):
the New England Patriot.
Speaker 4 (23:55):
I like how you've planted your flag in this team
for this coming season, and I got some.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
News for that flag.
Speaker 4 (24:00):
The headline for the Patriots will be ready willing, but
not Rabel.
Speaker 5 (24:05):
Pats can't reach five hundred. I don't see it, Colin.
Now let's start positive. You know you like this team.
Speaker 4 (24:11):
Ninety one million in cap space, fourth overall pick. Those
are the good signs, and obviously Drake may would like.
But I looked at some numbers Colin, researching this. They
had the worst offensive line in the NFL the last
two seasons. Past block win rate one of the important stats,
dead last, like so many different combinations on the line.
That's bad news. Now, you probably invest in an offensive
(24:32):
lineman at four, and you got the cap space you
got to go sign. Maybe they get in a bidding
war for the kid from KC who the Bears are
interested in. And then you look at the defense and
they could not get to the quarterback last year, like
no pass rush.
Speaker 5 (24:45):
I like Gonzales in the secondary. But I'm just I'm
being real.
Speaker 4 (24:48):
You stack this roster next to some of the other
bottom feeders, including my Jets. I don't think they've got
the talent. There's still I think a year away. It's
gonna take some time for Rabel to dig out from
this ugly situation. And yeah, I don't see five hundred
in the teleis now.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
This next team is interesting. So before the season started,
I went out and I said, the Cowboys and the
Niners are gonna regress. And I don't think it was
some amazing take, but they both did. I thought Denver
and Washington would be much better. That's I'm much more
proud of it. So I'm taking New England as one
of my launch teams, a team I think is gonna
(25:25):
pull back now. They're too good o line and running back.
They're too good to fall into the abyss. But I'm
this is interesting. Keep your eye. The Jets have poached,
you know, their defensive coordinator. The Bears have poached their
brilliant offensive coordinator. Tomorrow's headlines today, what's the headline going
(25:47):
to be for the Raiders?
Speaker 5 (25:49):
Actually, we're doing the Lions.
Speaker 4 (25:51):
Oh the Lions, My bad, my bad, my bad. The line,
here's the tough spot. I love this Lion story the
last two seasons, but they've had long, excruciating seasons ending
in just brutal defeat to the Niners and then the
Washington game. And now you lose both coordinators. The headline
in Detroit will be no Benz, no Glen's, no wins.
How the Lions lost their roar. I do see a
(26:14):
major pullback. Remember the division got better with Ben Johnson
going to Chicago. We know the Bears are on the
upward trajectory. I don't see the Packers going anywhere. I
like the Vikings Colin. I think there's a world where
the Lions. I hinted to this this week ten wins.
I think they could even drop further back. We know
Washington's on the uptick. NFC's very difficult right now, and
I just they could not pressure the quarterback after Aiden Hutchison.
(26:37):
It was like, we can't get to the quarterback, Let's
just Blasten. When you leave your secondary on islands and
they get.
Speaker 1 (26:41):
Cooked, think how good Philadelphia's roster is when they lost
They're two hot coordinators to head jobs. They were a mess.
People forget this. Dan Campbell is not I don't think
this is crazy. Dan's not a scheme gun. Yeah, he's
a walk around culture builder. You know, there's nothing wrong
(27:02):
with that. But the offensive guys, like like like Lafleuur
and Andy Reid and Sean Payton their scheme guys. So
they can lose an offensive coordinator. It has no effect
on McVeigh and Andy Reid and Sean Payton. But when
you get culture guys or defensive coaches and they lose
their offensive whiz and then they just bring somebody in
house up the Ben Johnson is a much higher grade
(27:25):
coordinator than the young man replacing him, So I don't
think this is a hot tea. We also think Greenvale
get better with time because it's a young team. If
JJ McCarthy's as good as he was in the preseason,
and we know Chicago, so this could you could argue
all three of the teams below Detroit will be I
mean it's hard to say that minnesot will be better.
They'll all be viable playoff teams and.
Speaker 4 (27:48):
Eagles of Washington going nowhere. I think we like Pennix
as a starter next year in Atlanta. I wouldn't rule
out Baker Mayfield keeping this train going. Chris Godwin's coming back,
like I mean, there's San Francisco's not staying down for
somebody drops off.
Speaker 5 (28:01):
What do you say every your two teams fall out
of the place.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
You know?
Speaker 1 (28:03):
I mean, look, there's seven new playoff teams on average,
and I mean, just let's just talk about this out loud.
So I think, I think this is my take in
the AFC is. I think philadel I think Indy is
gonna go after Donald. And I think if the Colts
get Donald, they're a playoff team. Okay, I think I
(28:23):
think there's a bunch of picks in cap space. I
don't think New England's going to bring in six to
eight new starters in the draft and in free eight.
They got a lot of money.
Speaker 5 (28:31):
You got Pittsburgh falling out.
Speaker 1 (28:33):
Got gott I have, I don't know, I've got Pittsburgh
falling out for sure.
Speaker 5 (28:38):
Chargers have cap space. I don't think they're falling out.
Speaker 1 (28:41):
No, I don't either, but but I but I can
see a couple of teams emerging. I would say.
Speaker 5 (28:47):
Bengals with Burrow, they're coming back. They're not really going on.
Speaker 1 (28:49):
I don't have as much promise as you do. I
I don't think. I think the next six seven years
for them are going to be very frustrating for Joe Burrow.
Speaker 5 (28:58):
I think it Dolphin's ish with Dan Marie by it.
Speaker 1 (29:02):
Oh yes, a little bit like that got.
Speaker 5 (29:03):
To the super Bowl early and then could not get back.
Speaker 1 (29:06):
Well, we know, we know there's going to be teams
that regress. You and I both agree with Detroit as
a team that we think will pull back. Yeah, yeah,
and I would think this. I think Chicago's going to
make a big jump.
Speaker 5 (29:18):
Yeah, And I think the Niners are going to come
back pretty hard.
Speaker 1 (29:22):
They have too many smart people in the building.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Yeah and.
Speaker 1 (29:26):
Yeah, and I think they're also going to be I
think in the free agent market, moving people, accumulating draft picks.
Speaker 4 (29:33):
Seattle's a potential team to watch. You had a DK
Metcalf take that was kind of a life I.
Speaker 1 (29:36):
Guess I would move dk Metcalf. I would get another
number one pick because in a week draft, in a
strong draft, maybe you get a two with him, Maybe
you can get a one. I think Seattle needs to
take a swing at quarterback. I mean, how many years.
Can we do the geno thing, like, let's take a swing?
Speaker 4 (29:49):
What about a DK Metcalf Nico Collins combination in Houston?
Still got the quarterback on the rookie deal, Tank Delca.
Speaker 1 (29:56):
I know, I don't think I think Seattle's finite receiver.
I think Seattle needs to move up or use it.
He had a Donold. I think I just think they
have to take a swing.
Speaker 5 (30:04):
Jalen Milro, that's my guy in Seattle.
Speaker 1 (30:06):
He did not look good down in the Senior Bowl practices,
did not look great.
Speaker 5 (30:13):
Not a practice player.
Speaker 1 (30:13):
You know who did look great? Riley Leonhards. Tom Brady
came on earlier today. I think this is the I
think this Super Bowl is great, regardless of what anybody
says or not, because it's on Fox. I think it's
the best roster against arguably the best coach of all
time and Patrick Mahomes the current best quarterback. Tom Brady
on his thoughts and why he's looking forward to it.
Speaker 8 (30:34):
To me, the two teams that have been consistently great
all season long that are in this game, which is
exactly how it should be, and the outcome of this
game is going to be determined by a few plays
and no one knows which plays they are gonna those
are gonna be. That's why you got to be on it.
From the moment that you walk into the stadium. This
(30:56):
is a This is a great matchup for a lot
of reasons. There's a lot of stars, there's champions, there's coaches,
there's tremendous scheme, and then there's tremendous players that have
played well under pressure and it all kind of culminates
in this great performance, you know, played out in front
(31:16):
of the whole world, and all these players that get
to be involved in it, this is a highlight of
their life and it's going to be a highlight of
my life being there to call the game.
Speaker 1 (31:25):
Yeah, I think you have the best roster in football
with an underrated overall roster of Kansas City, and the
best quarterback in the game with at times an underrated
quarterback in Jalen Hurts. So I mean, if you had
to put the ten best players, I was doing it
in my head. I have ten best players. I'm not
going to tell I'd have six Eagles and four Chiefs.
But number eleven's also a Chief, So I think it's
(31:47):
I think it's closer than you think.
Speaker 4 (31:49):
I think you've probably got two chiefs offensive lineman, Chris
Jones and Patrick Bones.
Speaker 1 (31:53):
Trent McDuffie's a top ten player. He's arguably, on any
given Sunday, the best corner in football. They moved up
to get him for a reason. Trent McDuffie is great,
And you.
Speaker 5 (32:03):
Might have Kelsey at eleven. Huh interesting maybe that, maybe
I would, I would go seven to three Eagles.
Speaker 1 (32:13):
Well, first of all, Mahomes, Chris Jones, McDuffie have to
be in it. Well what am I doing? What am
I doing with Joe Sooney?
Speaker 5 (32:21):
McDuffie's excellent on the blitz. He he was not as
amazing as he was last year. He was very good.
Speaker 4 (32:27):
Is he better for sure than everybody anybody in the
Eagles secondary again historical or just this season.
Speaker 1 (32:34):
No, I mean, I'm you're you're I'm basically saying, coming
up in the Super Bowl, who are the den best players?
That's what I think. I think McDuffie, because of the
Eagles two receivers gonna be on an island a few
times with Spags Blitz saying.
Speaker 5 (32:47):
Hey, j Brown, O'll cook him.
Speaker 1 (32:48):
Be careful, He's not Brownie. This is not this is
not Tyrese Maxie. I mean this is McDuffie is an
elite corner, very good elite used to that word. We'll
see you Monday,
