Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. All right, great guests
coming up.

Speaker 3 (00:28):
I asked him during the commercial break, listen, guys, we're
talking sports.

Speaker 2 (00:32):
We're having sun.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
So I asked him, I said, hey, man, where are
you on that fraud SGA?

Speaker 2 (00:38):
And he looks up. What I was like, I'm joking
kind of all right?

Speaker 3 (00:43):
Ryan Hollands, NBA veteran, He's always smiling and laughing. We
have some goods back and forth. All right, First of all,
set the scene for me last night. Okayse he's up
fifteen in the fourth. Are you saying, okay, that's a
let me go, put the kids to bed, let me
go get a glass of milk and some cookies.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
It's over.

Speaker 3 (01:04):
Or did you think the Pacers say they got to
shot here?

Speaker 4 (01:08):
They're the group that they've shown this offseason that they
always have a shot. They just believe man and for
Rick Carlisle what he's done with that driving kick offense
based around Halliburton. They just need one or two guys
to get hot from three. I think Obi Topping had
about five last night. Nim Hard hit some big shots
and you got to grow up that absolutely believes And

(01:29):
it's a recipe for disaster because you had to I
think fifteen or so turnovers in the first half, second
half gets down to five. Indy takes care of the
basketball and the thing about the thunder And I called
this before the series, J Mack, and I know you're
not gonna believe it, but J Mack, I've been talking
about this for a long time.

Speaker 5 (01:46):
You're gonna have the offensive.

Speaker 4 (01:47):
Execution of excuse me of Indiana. Their ball movement and
they're probably one of the better teams and this would
be ideal.

Speaker 5 (01:56):
And I want you to hear me when I say this.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
To actually move football in overtime, move the ball in
the fourth quarter. A lot of teams did. It's a
pick and roll to an isolation. For Okay, see it's
Sga isolation.

Speaker 5 (02:09):
Okay.

Speaker 4 (02:09):
For New York Knicks, it was pick and roll a
cat to a Brunson isolation.

Speaker 5 (02:14):
Did not work out. You're not going to.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
Beat the pacers because the Pacers continue to move the ball,
and when you need it most, haw Lla Burton steps up.
They come back from down twenty. They are the heartbreak kids.
I don't know whatever nickname is floating out there, man,
but I saw this coming a mile away, man, and
it is a part breaking loss because you just lost
one court advantage.

Speaker 3 (02:33):
Yeah, but at the same time, it's not just a comeback.
The thunder had to gag it away. Are you surprised
Dagnall went up by I believe they were up eight
after the SGA free throws. He pulls chet for Wallace
and they had no bigs on the court and they
couldn't get any offensive boards. They give up points inside.
Are you surprised he w wasn't no bigs. It did

(02:53):
work at the end of the first half. But are
you surprised that he did that down the stretch.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
I'm not surprised about that because they moved the ball
so well. So if you can guard the ball with
the small lineup, the one thing is if you can
keep the ball in front, now you don't have to help.
Now you can take away the three and when you're
going to come back. The offensive rebounds hurts you, but
the threes kill you. So by going small, Okay, see
gets real switchable case and Wallace, I could you could

(03:19):
argue he's their third, second or third best defender, and
there's a reason that he was in the game. But
you don't want to end up getting spread thin. The
duos don't beat you, the threes beat you. And already
is that Indiana still got threes even with a small,
switchable lineup with Wallace on the fourth, because they will
go find a big and they'll go pick on them. Man,
and Rick Carlisle is roofless, and I think we're going

(03:40):
to have to put start putting more respect on Rick's
and a especially if he gets a championship this season.

Speaker 2 (03:45):
Yeah, no doubt.

Speaker 3 (03:46):
But you've heard the Patrick pat Ryan not Patrick pat
Riley saying no rebounds, no rings. And the rebound age
last night was fifty six thirty nine. It made up
for all the turnovers that they were gagging the ball
away twenty four times. I don't do you think Okay
c needs to make any adjustments in game two, or
do you just say, hey, we're starting Wallleace again, We're doing.

Speaker 5 (04:06):
Us they do. I think instead of going small, you
go big.

Speaker 4 (04:12):
If you're going to attack anywhere, I think your attack
has to be inside.

Speaker 5 (04:16):
You gotta shore up the paint first.

Speaker 4 (04:18):
And I think you give yourself a chance because Oklahoma City,
if you go small, what you're telling Indiana to do,
We're trying to run with you.

Speaker 5 (04:26):
You can't run with Indiana. You need to slow it up.
You need to own the boards.

Speaker 4 (04:31):
So when SGA goes into his isolation modes, now you
got chet inside and now you have Hartenstein inside. And
I think when you mix check with Hartenstein, you get
the most out of Chet check and stretch the floor.
He can shoot, and now he can use his list
to cover ground defensively. So I think the mistake he
made was trying to match up with Indiana offensively and
get up and down the floor.

Speaker 6 (04:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and Noone Easter not a im Pacific on Fox Sports
Radio FS one and the iHeart radioip NO.

Speaker 2 (05:00):
I totally agree. I do want to listen.

Speaker 3 (05:03):
Man, you got to be delicate with this guy because
he has so many fans and understandable.

Speaker 2 (05:07):
He's a great basketball player. SGA just where are you
going with j But Ryan, let's be real.

Speaker 3 (05:14):
Thirty eight points on thirty shots, three assists for your
point guard in forty minutes.

Speaker 2 (05:20):
I mean, at some point, just get to get.

Speaker 3 (05:21):
Everyone else involved, because again it's just one game, and
maybe the Thunder roll them after this. But on some level,
can you can you see that the strategy from the
Rick Carlisle is hey, Sga, you get yours, go for it,
go for a forty piece.

Speaker 2 (05:34):
We don't care. We're not letting the other guys bang three, four, five,
six threes.

Speaker 3 (05:39):
Lou Jord hit five, but nobody else really got going
for them, and that kind of hurt them in.

Speaker 2 (05:44):
The end of the game.

Speaker 4 (05:46):
It did, and again Jay, like I said, you can
see this coming in. I think for Shay he has
to stay aggressive, you know, And it looked like last night.
If you're not going to have the assists, that's got
to be forty five to fifty points and they probably
come away with the If you're playing Indiana, Shae is
gonna have to be in that range with that style
of play against the Indiana Pacers. But ultimately, at the

(06:08):
end of the day, I think it's too late to change.
I think you go bigger. I think you go hit
the boards, you try to pound out Indiana on the inside,
and I think that gives you a shot to win.
But I think trying to spread the floor and play
Indiana style, that's not gonna work.

Speaker 5 (06:22):
Now.

Speaker 4 (06:22):
In terms of Shaye, my only argument may say, hey,
down the end of the stretch, you know, you gotta
match Cayler Burton, like forget what's happened earlier, and I
get it. You're playing against their ball movement and you're
scoring at the rate that four or five pacers are
scoring at. For SGN, that's just what it's gonna have
to be. But down the stretch of the games, he's
gonna have to find a way to close those games

(06:44):
out and the ball is gonna have to be in
his hands and ultimately, right now he's just not gonna
have help and he's gonna have to bring it home.

Speaker 5 (06:50):
So again, get back to your identity.

Speaker 4 (06:53):
Understand that your offense isn't going to be great, but
they gotta find ways to defend. And I think that's
what Dagnall tried to do in my argument for him,
and it's go back bigger and bu.

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Well, wait a minute, not going to have help.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
I mean J dub, who I think is criminally overrated
all NBA guy this year, not help.

Speaker 2 (07:10):
He was six of nineteen from the floor.

Speaker 5 (07:12):
It's a seed. It's a season award. J Maco, it's
a season award. J Man.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
You can't be mad if they got for see the
thing I did, go ahead, But here is J Mack.
If we came into the series right and I asked
you out shout to say, who do you expect to
show up for the thunder?

Speaker 5 (07:27):
Who would you say?

Speaker 2 (07:28):
That's that's the reason I picked the Pacers is six.
I don't know. I don't know that. I think those
guys are legit Jews and Threes.

Speaker 3 (07:34):
Lebron and Luca are a legit duo, right A d
and Kyrie legit duo. You got duos everywhere. I don't
know that there's a true too with Chet or J Dubb.
Do you think either of them player?

Speaker 5 (07:47):
I think they can be.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
I think we just haven't seen it yet, you know what,
all due respect and I think the challenge for Oklahoma
City when they win games, they've been able to win defensively,
so they turn them over fifteen times in the first
half second half that defense has to ramp up even more.
And the tough thing with Indiana is when you ball pressure,
they continue to move the ball, they continue to trust.

Speaker 5 (08:08):
So it's hard to really key in.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
In Oklahoma City, Digno they have one of the more
intelligent defenses.

Speaker 5 (08:14):
You know, they have strategies for every single player on
the floor.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
You know, they may press up with Halis Burton, they
may you know, sag back on they have. They have
and not just a one on one defense, they have
team defense for every single player they play against. And
think about Rick Carlisle. Rick is always thrown in a
different player. He's always throwing in a different wrinkle. And
I think ultimately at the end of the day, man
it does. It just becomes really really tough for Oklahoma

(08:39):
City because they got to score enough, and defensively they
have to manufacture more points with their defense.

Speaker 5 (08:45):
It's a point of emphasis. So for look forlor diagonal
to possibly trap.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
A lot more, maybe mix things up little one two
two zone, you know, a little running jump action. But
he's gonna have to win it defensively. And I think
one guy who you saw do that in Toronto was
Nick Nurse. Nick Nurse was excellent on the defensive end,
they were able to create points with their defense. So
I think dag Nolan is going to understand and think
about that Game seven against against Denver.

Speaker 5 (09:11):
They went in trapped. They put Caruso on a.

Speaker 4 (09:14):
Big dog Okaki, so that may be something you see
in game two.

Speaker 3 (09:18):
So interesting Again, I picked pacers and six. I did
say I can see OKAC winning in four straight. But
a reason that I think Indiana's got a shot. Okase's
bench overwhelmed the West right just two months in Minnesota
to Denver. A no bench last night, and I haven't
heard people talking about this. Indiana's bench outscored OKC thirty

(09:39):
nine to twenty eight. That's unheard of for this OKAC team.
So when you start taking bullets out of the chamber,
I don't really know where the edge is for OKAC.
And I'm sure they win game two in a runaway
ZI exact theory. But this Indiana bench, I think it's
better than Okse's.

Speaker 4 (09:55):
They trust man and the one thing that Rick will
do and I played for Rick over in Dallas, He'll
go with the hot hand. He'll put whoever in the
game is playing well. He's gonna trust advents you'll go
with different guys. So these guys are battle tested and ready.
And for Okay, see that, you're absolutely spot up. That
was their advantage against Denver, that was their advantage against Minnesota,

(10:19):
against ant Man, being able to throw bodies at him
and making him have to be a ball player.

Speaker 5 (10:24):
And you know what's even tough for Oklahoma City.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
They weren't prepared for this matchup because Minnesota is more
one on one. You know, we're gonna out physical you,
out tough you, out talent you, and you couldn't do
that in this situation. So I think for Dagnell, he's
gonna have to find a way to create the turnovers.
The guys on defense, you got op bounds, you got
to use them. You got to make this game extremely physical.

(10:47):
For Indiana truggled.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Ryan Hollins, NBA former center, he's on Fox Sports Radio
nine ams on Sunday. Let me ask this one. So
Jaden McDaniels, you know, really good descender. People thought, oh
he could slow shake, he had no chance. And then
I say, well, Andrew Nemhart, he's a dog.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
I like that, dude.

Speaker 3 (11:06):
Oh no, Jay, he's got no chance. People forget this.
He was a Team Canada. He knows SG a well
like Hart, and SGA got so ticked to him last
likeeight Did you see that shove in the fourth quarter
after a foul like SGA.

Speaker 2 (11:23):
People don't want to admit this.

Speaker 3 (11:24):
He was a little shook in that game. He was
not getting the free throws he wanted. Here it is
right here, we're showing on the screen. Look at SGA
just get out of here. And it was like, oh okay,
and then Nemhart went and bumped him on the line.
These are the little things, man. Nemhart is really good.
Bryan making two million dollars a year.

Speaker 5 (11:43):
Listen, man, the IQ is back in the game. Shot up.

Speaker 4 (11:46):
Mark Feeley's done an excellent job with his guys, But
nim Hard is a guy.

Speaker 5 (11:51):
TJ.

Speaker 4 (11:51):
McConnell, you know, like Indiana and Rick Carlow said, we're
going after toughness. We don't want sexy, we don't holt
the forty years vertical. We're going out in getting toughness.
But those guys are frustrating. You're absolutely right. That Team
Canada thing is the thing. My guy Dylan Brooks with
Dylan Brooks, see Shay, you know it's personal it's all
you know what he sees Jamal Murray. They know each

(12:11):
other's moves. Those guys have been playing together for so long.
But nim Hard doesn't wy you. He's tough as nails.
He's gonna show up, he's gonna hit a big shot.
TJ McConnell the same type of guy, you know. And
they're just breeding the right things. And we thought in
the NBA, you know, you win with the three pointers,
you win with versatility. Recalla has recall I will not
have anything less than two peer point guards on the floor.

(12:35):
He will have nothing less than two peer point guards
on the floor. They're gonna run their offense, They're gonna
hit shots, they're gonna get in sets.

Speaker 5 (12:41):
It's simple basketball.

Speaker 4 (12:42):
The IQ was coming back to the game, and I'm
sorry for those fans watching. This isn't Lebron, this isn't Perry,
this isn't There's Durant. This is that the loop of
the star studded finals that we were normally able to
rally by. This is just some darn blood basketball we're seeing, man,
And these guys are whoopers. They're and toughness in IQ
are the things that you're going to be looking for

(13:03):
in this NBA draft and all these teams looking into
free agency. That's how you would a my guy, Fred
van Fleet. That's why Houston was number two in the
left because Fred Vanfleet is tough as nails and that
is bringing the NBA back.

Speaker 2 (13:16):
Man, that's a good take.

Speaker 3 (13:18):
So let me know if you agree with this. It
just came to me listening to you. Best case scenario
for the NBA, Indiana wins the series. OKAC goes after
Giannis or Kevin Durant and gets one of them. Then
everybody hates OKAC because they brought back Kadi or because
they got Giannis and they just won sixty eight games.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
I think that.

Speaker 3 (13:40):
Would be great for the league. I'm not being disrespectful,
but I just think they're boring. As they're currently constructed.
There's no reason to feel love or hate for OKC.
But if you give them a superstar, man, screw those guys.
I'm rooting against them.

Speaker 4 (13:54):
Agree or disagree, I degree as we take our basketball
hat off of our entertainment head on.

Speaker 5 (14:01):
I told it a while ago, Jay Mac.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
I don't know if I was a going with you
or Colin, but I said, man, I would love if
Kevin Durant went back to Oklahoma City. They definitely have
the assets. Sam Presley got enough assets and we're able
to win, and they can put a package together with
Kevin Durant and Chet and those boys, and just the homecoming.

(14:24):
You're like, I think it would be special to be
the entire NBA would be excited. I think the moment
would be there, and I think, you know, hey, Oklahoma
City potentially, and I don't speak this from any knowledge,
just selfishly. You know, hey, if the Houston Rockets could
put a friendly package that could keep a lot of
our young talent here and add a guy like Kevin

(14:46):
Durant would bring the immense value. But we're saying the
same thing. You know we talked about earlier, just being certified,
having a guy who you know, can hit a shot,
who's been there before, who can be in that mentor role.
Because when you have a megastar like shake this Alexander,
there's only so many people that can say, hey, Shay,
take this shot here do this because he's like, well,
I was better than you. Like when I played with

(15:07):
Bookiy Cousins in Sacramento, Like I could tell Bookie Cousins
how to be a professional. I could talk to Bookie
about showing up to practice all time. I didn't talk
to him about clothing games. I could give advice my opinion,
but you know what, you've never been there before. So
Durant could be one of those guys on one of
the teams and it would be it would be cool
to see in Oklahoma City. I think Houston has a

(15:29):
need with these young budding teams that need somebody. Hey,
that's why Minnesota with a respect with him and ant
Man are there.

Speaker 5 (15:37):
And you know.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
Katie has a lot of gas left in the take man,
I tell you that much. But that could be a
cool fit. And in terms of Giannis onto the Kupo,
I think we know Giannis has kind of expressed he
wants to go to a big city. But I think
I'd like to see Giannis in a situation where he
could win and be truly competitive. I think you know
what jumps to mind obviously like the note brainer and
I don't even know if it's possible to work, but

(15:59):
the Gohots eight Warriors, I think because him and Steph Curry,
the way he puts he puts pressure on their ramj Mac.

Speaker 5 (16:05):
He puts pressure on their ring and you want to open.

Speaker 2 (16:08):
Things up, how well are you gonna get about?

Speaker 5 (16:10):
That's what I said. I don't know how. I don't
know how.

Speaker 7 (16:14):
I don't know.

Speaker 5 (16:14):
I don't know how.

Speaker 4 (16:15):
You know you have to lose something or something that
you may not want. But again, I understand the alert
with san Antonio because him and Wimby they have assets. Uh,
the Houston Rockets have assets, so it's beautiful to be
him playing all these situations. We saw the news about
New York willing to throw everything, and if I'm New York,
you look if you fired Tom Thibodeau, you damn sure

(16:37):
better excuse me, don sure better be better. Try to get
Yanis out to the couple or bring these fans back
because tims of the dog Man. I don't forgive me
New York. I just don't understand it. Maybe the sun
behind the scenes that I don't get. I guess it
has to be somebody's fault. But Yanna, something Coop on
New York could be very bonce office. I'm not sure
what you give up. Maybe anything that Milwaukee asked for.

Speaker 3 (16:58):
We got one minute real quick, So Kevin Durant, there's
a I don't It's un clear if it's a report
or speculation that the paper Clips are going to make
a move on Kevin Durant some kind of Norm Powell package.

Speaker 2 (17:10):
It doesn't seem realistic.

Speaker 3 (17:12):
However, KD plus Kawhi is kind of sort of fascinating.

Speaker 2 (17:16):
You think there's any shot that goes down.

Speaker 4 (17:21):
I mean, I think there's always a shot because Kevin
Durant's at the age and respected enough where.

Speaker 5 (17:24):
He can go where he'd like to go.

Speaker 4 (17:26):
I don't think that the Phoenix Suns and all respect
to what they've done with their organization, they would kind
of send him somewhere that he doesn't want to go.
And I think, you know, Kd's knowledgeable enough to say like, hey,
I don't want to lead you guys in a bad place.

Speaker 5 (17:39):
So I think the Clippers are in play.

Speaker 4 (17:41):
I think any large market isn't playing great situation, And
for KD, he probably wants a mix of.

Speaker 5 (17:46):
Winning and you know, a nice location.

Speaker 4 (17:48):
You know, his age, man, it kind of gets down
to that, so you know, age definitely gonna be in played,
you know, or that's going to be a highly set
after market.

Speaker 5 (17:57):
But I think for the Clips just.

Speaker 4 (17:58):
Being in La and alone, it's there, but the challenge
they're going to say, well, what if we're Phoenix, what
assets do we get back?

Speaker 5 (18:05):
That makes us feel comfortable? But ultimately I think it's
in Kevin's is choosing.

Speaker 3 (18:09):
OKD to stay off Ig. He's trying to bag on
me on the Herd. Ig take a shot. But whatever
it happens, happens to the best of us.

Speaker 5 (18:16):
Well what did you say this What did you say
this time?

Speaker 7 (18:19):
Bro? Yeah?

Speaker 3 (18:23):
Fox Sports Radio, former NBA guy all around, good dude,
Thanks Ryan, I have a great weekend.

Speaker 5 (18:29):
Appreciate it. Day man, Talk to you soon, man.

Speaker 2 (18:32):
Boy, All right? Coming up next?

stories that well, other shows don't seem to have the
time to discuss.

Speaker 9 (19:12):

twenty years and still work together, I mean that says
something right.

Speaker 3 (19:45):
Back here on the Herd. Final segment of the week. Wow,
it's been a banger of a week. I mean, you
got Thibodeau getting run, you got the heavily favored Thunder
choking away things at home. And now to wrap up
the week, Chris the Bear Felikica joining us live from
Saratoga The Belmont Steaks are on Fox tomorrow.

Speaker 2 (20:07):
Chris a degenerate gambler.

Speaker 3 (20:09):
Just kidding, He's not degenerated, A great gambler, No, I
who as Okay, see plus money genius move from when
Denver led to one. I am curious. Do you have
a Belmont Steaks pick for the audience tomorrow?

Speaker 7 (20:24):
I do. It's nothing super creative. I do think that
the favorite journalism, the previous winner, will win the second
legative trip and ground here. I think the way the
race is going to shape up, he's going to be
a little bit closer to the lead and a race
that's not going to add as much peace as potentially
the Kentucky Derby had, which may have set up for
sovereignty to win him. But if eight journalism the way

(20:45):
he's Downstown in the preakers and looked so good over
this track, I do think that he will win at
the smile and quarter distance and just hauled off from
Derby Champs sign.

Speaker 2 (20:54):
All right, let's pivot to the NFL.

Speaker 3 (20:56):
Aaron Rodgers, the long the national nightmare is over, he
was ours there for two years. Obviously, you're a Jets fan.
We commissionate frequently. I'm just glad it's over. I'm just
curious your thought is this going to work in Pittsburgh.

Speaker 7 (21:12):
I don't know. I mean, I guess, I guess if
you want to take the glass half bowl approach, he's
better than anyone that had on the roster and anybody
that currently have on the roster. Now, look, you and
I both know about the jetsal organization try to be
and a little bit of disarrayed offensive line had its injuries.
The weapons that he had with Jeff warn't necessarily great

(21:32):
coaching staff obviously issues there. He now goes to the
argularly one of the most stable coaching staffs in the organizations,
and the people in the league. You bring him became
that tap, you keep it running back, your team that
conditionally wins with defense. He showed lash years. It timed
last year that he still had something left. He doesn't

(21:53):
have to go out and win the game, win games
for them. However, I still think that as you're looking
at that the vision, they're behind Baltimore, they're behind Cincinnati.
As long as Joe Burrow is healthy and Hendrickson is ready.
I know my Tomlin has not had a losing season
as a head coach. It feels like you're probably still
in that eight or nine win range and burn in

(22:15):
that commision.

Speaker 3 (22:16):
Yeah, I'm just curious. You know, Aaron Rodgers, I don't
want to call him a coach killer. That being said,
there's a world where the streak ends for Tomlin and
all of a sudden they win, you know, five or
six games. The Arthur Smith marriage with Rogers is a disaster.
We heard about Tomlin maybe leaving for TV for a
little bit. I don't know just how bad could this get.
I don't want to be too negative, but that's the reality.

Speaker 4 (22:40):
You see.

Speaker 7 (22:40):
I don't know if it's necessarily bad if they have
a five wing type season, because the Steelers have always
been in the middle. They're in the worst place you
can be in the NFL. You're in the mill, you're eight,
you're nine and eight. You're maybe gonna go to the playoffs,
but you're not going to make a run of this ball.
If they kind of bottom out this year, what's going
to be a quarterback heavy draft next year with Garrett Neusmeyer.

(23:03):
I mean, maybe Arch Manning, a Carson Deck and a
bunch of adoptey more potentially Leonard Sellers. Next year is
a great quarterback draft, and if the Steelers are picking
top six, top five next year, that's not the worst
thing in the world. If they go for they go
for it one year and try and win the division,
try and make a playoff, fall with Eric and they
make it. Fine, that's good. But this is a year

(23:24):
where if you kind of have a down year, you're
going to be in a good position at the top
of the track.

Speaker 2 (23:29):
Interesting.

Speaker 3 (23:30):
All right, let's quickly pivot to Frank Rag. Now, listen,
I'm sure people are like, Ah Center retired, who cares?

Speaker 2 (23:36):
This is big? You're a gambler, you know.

Speaker 3 (23:38):
The trenches are everything I do believe. And we had
Adam Turnoff, who you know, well, he was on the
show earlier this week. It's like he's been in the
Lions season win total under. I don't know if they're
a playoff team in the and the loaded NFC.

Speaker 2 (23:51):
Chris, Yeah, I.

Speaker 7 (23:53):
Think you look at the NFC and you look at
their and their win totally. You might want to investigate
the under with some of the games that they won less.
But you look at all these great teams in the NFL.
What's the common denominator? Evils, wines, bravings, great offensive lines
are the key losing the anchor of your O line
right now. I mean, I don't know if you could

(24:15):
replace that, and it doesn't mean they're going to have
a losing season and completely missed the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (24:20):
I don't.

Speaker 7 (24:20):
I don't know, but but I think this is a
bigger deal than that, especially when you focus so much
on quick passes with Jared gobb in the running game
with Montgomery and Gibbs. I think this is a big
deal and he really can't be overestimating.

Speaker 2 (24:35):
I'm with you.

Speaker 3 (24:35):
Chris Filica, host of the Bear Bets podcast, Fox Big
Noon Kickoff. Chris, thanks a lot, enjoy Sarahtoga and hopefully
the money people want some money off your pick from earlier.

Speaker 2 (24:45):
Great stuff is usual.

Speaker 7 (24:46):
Yeah, well we're run at four o'clock tomorrow beyond all
day and follow us on Twitter and good stuff.

Speaker 2 (24:52):
Buddy, Thanks a lot, the Bear Chris Filika. All right,
let's go to Alex Curry with the news.

Speaker 5 (24:59):
No turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (25:01):
This is the herd Line news, all right.

Speaker 7 (25:04):
J Mac.

Speaker 10 (25:05):
Let's start in San Francisco because Niners had it down.

Speaker 2 (25:08):
Your last year.

Speaker 10 (25:08):
But even with that, brock Perty went from mister irrelevant
to one of the highest paid quarterbacks in football, and
Mac Jones is his newest backup, and Mac talked about
how easy the forty nine ers offense is on a quarterback.

Speaker 11 (25:21):
I think they do a great job explaining what the
expectation of each play is and why they're doing a
certain play and there's no nothing left up to doubt,
if that makes sense, And everything's based on timing and
rhythm and also playing off structure, so has all three
elements of quarterback play. And yeah, it's it's very interesting

(25:42):
to watch it and see how they see the game
because it is the correct way to see it. And
as you can tell, the quarterback play is very efficient.

Speaker 10 (25:49):
Yeah, Kyle Shanahan sets quarterbacks up for success, right. I mean,
obviously what he just did for a Rock perty very
last pick in the draft, as you're relevant to that,
he was third stringer who came in and now is
the one of the.

Speaker 2 (26:03):
Highest paid quarterbacks in the league.

Speaker 10 (26:05):
But when you kind of compare Purdy to Groppolo under college,
Shanahan similar numbers, so you could kind of say, like
he takes I don't think Brock is like an average
guy now, but he takes kind of those kind of quarterbacks,
and he makes them great, but you're also able to
build around them because you're not paying a great quarterback.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
Kind of money. So now that you're paying Brock.

Speaker 10 (26:29):
As like one of the top quarterbacks, the question is
will they still be able to build around him and
have the team around him to make them as successful
as they can be, Because yeah, here you look at
the numbers up on the board right now of Broppolo,
Jimmy g and Rock Purty under Shanahan. I think the
yards per attempt it's Branks first and second in the
NFL right there. So it's I'm a Brock party fan.

(26:52):
I know you're a Brock pretty fan. But again, this
is going to be a test year. You just got
the bag. Like his jump from payment is absolutely insane.
Eight hundred that Yeah, he was making under a million
dollars to fifty million a year, Like, hey.

Speaker 3 (27:10):
Listen, he's going to be He went from taking the
bus to maybe private jets, Like that's quite a leak to.

Speaker 2 (27:17):
He is a car deal. Remember he got everyone those day.

Speaker 10 (27:19):
You got everyone cars for Christmas, which is wild. Okay,
let's head to New York where Russell Wilson is no
stranger to having younger quarterbacks pushing him for playing time.
At this point in his career, Giants obviously have first
round quarterback Jackson Dart and it's by New York drafting
the old miss product. Russ isn't changing how he moves
around the law.

Speaker 12 (27:40):
I think the biggest thing is for me is just
being my best every day leading. You know, just I
always think about, you know, just leading everybody. You know,
He's just leading every room, every moment, every time I
gets step on his own white lines and the opportunity
of that. We had a great dinner the other night,
as you know, falled o' lineman, quarterbacks and running backs together.
We just had a good time, tons of laughs and

(28:00):
in a good time together. So just I think the
fellowship of it all is the best part right now.

Speaker 10 (28:07):
I'm not expecting anything big from Russell Wilson if you
look at him, if you look at his last two
stops right in Pittsburgh, he went six and five as
a starter, but plus the last four when it counted
the most, when they needed him for the most, and
Pittsburgh didn't pursue him. They pursued justin fields who started

(28:29):
before him. That's who they really wanted to keep. So
I we obviously know what went down in Denver. They
paid him millions of dollars to leave and go play
for another team. So his last two stops have not
been successful. And the Giants quarterback room is, you know interesting.
They also picked up James Winston, you have Russ, They
drafted Jackson Dart So I'm not there's a lot of

(28:52):
question Mark's there.

Speaker 2 (28:53):
It's a mid it's a quarterback game at all.

Speaker 10 (28:55):
It is, yeah, all right, and let's and with your
boy Kad Kevin Durant. Rumors are flowing. We've heard of
a lot of likely landing spots, but a Phoenix radio
has floated one this morning that could be surprising to you.

Speaker 13 (29:14):
The one team that I think that they'll be communication
now again. This maybe the Sun's reaching out to them,
or them reaching out to the Suns, or just mutual interest.
The one more team I'm going to put in there
as a possibility is the Clippers. We've never talked about
the Clippers before, but so I got Zubach, they got Done,

(29:35):
they got Powell, they got Dereck Jones. I'll have to
look at what their draft capital is. But the Clippers
are a team that I heard.

Speaker 2 (29:46):
Interesting, but it is interesting.

Speaker 10 (29:48):
Can you keep everybody?

Speaker 2 (29:50):
Can Kawhi?

Speaker 10 (29:52):
I mean you're gonna have another like big three, Yes,
a later base three.

Speaker 2 (29:58):
That's a great and l I would want not.

Speaker 10 (30:02):
Win, like you're also like competing with Lebron and Luca
and whoever else they get here in LA.

Speaker 2 (30:09):
Why is always missing huge game? It's well, it's kads
thirty seven September.

Speaker 10 (30:13):
The wise issue is he can't stay healthy at the
end of the season in the postseason.

Speaker 2 (30:17):
He did this last year.

Speaker 10 (30:18):
This was the first time that he was interesced in beforehand,
and then he was he was healthy towards the back
end of the season into the postseason. But that's kind
of been there Achilles heel Like they just haven't had
that postseason.

Speaker 2 (30:31):
That playoff success. So it's would KD want to be there?
Do they have enough to give up? I think KD
would certainly want to be in LA.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
Yeah, I don't know that the deal is going to
be good enough, Like somebody's gonna throw some stupid stuff
at the Suns. I think they're just desperate to take anything.
It's like when you're selling your house and you've got
to get the hell out. Just give me an offer.
Let's go look it.

Speaker 10 (30:52):
I mean, as we talked about, he's just trying to
get it down before Yannis land somewhere, because that's going
to set the market as soon as Jannis Trey situation happens.

Speaker 2 (31:01):
Like there it is.

Speaker 10 (31:03):
So if you get this done before, you're honis.

Speaker 3 (31:05):
I wonder mentally what Kevin Durant saying, Hey man, you
could get shipped for zubots and Norman Powell excuse.

Speaker 2 (31:12):
Rudy Gobert was like five picks. Bridges was five. I
don't care that I'm thirty seven.

Speaker 10 (31:16):
But again, at this point, like don't you just want
to be You want to be in a place where
you are still competitive and have an opportunity to make
a run like that. You're still competitive, and you're in
a big market and you're in a great city.

Speaker 3 (31:30):
So wake up, col oh alex Bert the news.

Speaker 6 (31:35):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
herd line.

Speaker 2 (31:39):
Now, thanks folks. We survived the week barely.

Speaker 3 (31:42):
I mean, you know, getting barbed from cam Newton and
you know the Dion Sanders crowd way.

Speaker 2 (31:47):
It was a hell of a week for Calary. I
think the show is still standing. Alex great stuff.

Speaker 3 (31:52):
The Big Guy's back on Monday, and I guess I'll
be back.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
I don't haven't heard from anybody to say that.
