Speaker 1 (00:24):
At McShay thirteen does an extraordinary job on this stuff.
None taught for a lot of years he was on
with us, so recently we're bringing him back as the
draft begins in Earnest on Thursday. So I want to
start with this. There's and I had heard this about
four or five days ago that the giants in the
room are split on Shador Sanders, which would lead me
(00:45):
to believe they're not taking a player at number three.
They're split on You've been around these teams. A lot
of people have said day Balls, Moore, Jackson, Dart, Shaneesmore, Schaedure.
How can you be split at this juncture or is
this common?
Speaker 3 (01:03):
Let me ask you this question, Colin, like, there are
so few in the league that actually are really really
good at developing quarterbacks, working with quarterbacks, and there's a
handful of guys who are considered one of like the
better offensive minds, right right, And so I don't care
if you draft a quarterback even outlasts the head coach.
(01:24):
I'm utilizing what his special trade is the reason why
we brought him in the as the head coach, what
he's been able to do with quarterbacks and offensively. And
so if Dable doesn't like a guy, or if he
likes a guy, aren't I trusting that opinion over the
scouting staff. And like you know, I'm kind of a
(01:44):
scout by trade, and I believe in marrying the personnel
with the coaching staff. But in this specific instance, I'm
going with the coach that believes in the quarterback and
wants to work with the quarterback. And so what I'm
hearing matches up with exactly what I expected. I've been
saying for two weeks now. I can't imagine Brian Dabole
is kind of going all chips in on Shador Sanders.
(02:07):
Brian Daboles worked with Jalen Hurts at Alabama, Josh Allen
and Buffalo. He got the best out of Daniel Jones,
a quarterback I never thought should have ever been drafted
where he was, but he got the best on him
when he was healthy. And so Jackson Dart lines up
with what Brian dabells looking for in a quarterback. Sturdier build, mobility,
(02:28):
energy on the ball. So I've always said I suspect
that Brian Daboll is a Jackson Dark guy, or maybe
even Tyler Shuck or maybe developing Jaln Milroe. But I
can't imagine, especially in that division, in that weather, that
Shador would be the guy that he say we got
to have them. And so it doesn't surprise me at
(02:50):
all that this information is coming out. The shadoor in
Dark thing is fascinating to me. The same principles were
applying to Daball apply to Kellen Moore in New Orleans,
like he's worked three OC jobs with Dak Prescott, justin
Herbert Jalen Hurts. Those guys are more in line with
what Jackson Dart is. So I quarterback is not going
at three is from everything I can understand, And if
(03:12):
what you just pointed out, I think it will be
abdul Carter if it goes Ward one Hunter two, So
then Shador falls to nine. Everyone's saying for about a
week and I would saying it's not New Orleans. It's
I don't think it's Shadoor New Orleans at nine, and
I don't think it would be Shador to New Orleans
at forty. So now it becomes what's the market for Shador,
(03:32):
And everyone's pointing to Pittsburgh, and I do have from
pretty good sources. Mike Tomlin does like Shador, and there
are people in the building that do like Shador. But
we thought for a little while, that's the hard floor.
That's where he's gonna, you know, worst case, he goes
twenty one to Pittsburgh. I was told Sunday night when
I landed here in LA by someone I trust that
probably is much or more than anyone out out there.
(03:53):
That's a softer floor than people think. And it makes sense,
like I think Pittsburgh would rather trade back. They gave
up the number, the round two pick with DK Metcalf.
So now we're in a situation where maybe it's like
old old on these quarterbacks and we get into the twenties,
and yes, maybe a team like the Giants moved up
a little bit for Jackson dart or New Orleans some
(04:15):
times to get up ahead of them for Jackson Dart.
I don't see the team out there, and no one
I've talked to sees the team out there that if
Shador gets past twenty one, they're gonna go racing in
the first round to go get him.
Speaker 4 (04:26):
So I'm not saying he won't go in the first round.
We found out the night before on Baker Mayfield. We
didn't know about Michael Pennix last year.
Speaker 3 (04:35):
There's always one team kind of lurking, and so can
he go in the first round if it's not Pittsburgh.
Speaker 4 (04:40):
Absolutely, But I don't have.
Speaker 3 (04:42):
A team where I'm like, they're gonna come and be
the parachute for Shador Sanders.
Speaker 1 (04:46):
So we have heard and almost everybody's told me this,
it's a remarkable running back draft. So let's do some
comps on this. If I say, Travian Henderson Ohio State,
who does he remind you of? Or Omarion Hampton at
Carolina who do they remind you of? Give me a
calm because you've said before, and I've heard this from
multiple people in the league, it's like, this is a
(05:07):
this is a running back draft. There are guys ranked
fifteenth to eighteenth that may play early and be like
regular starting backs in this league. It's that good of
a running back draft. Take Trevon Henderson into Ohio State.
I liked him. I thought he was really good. Does
he remind you of anybody?
Speaker 3 (05:24):
I think Jamiir Gibbs is an accurate an accurate assessment
if you're trying to do like shades of or comparison,
because and I'll tell you this, and I said this
at the Senior Ball talking to people, and that's when
people are just talking ball and they're not now trying
to give out information for specific reasons. There was some
(05:44):
late first love in Mobile he wasn't there, but just
talking to people on the field and Senior Bowl and.
Speaker 4 (05:49):
Kind of people just.
Speaker 3 (05:50):
Talking then and now as we get closer, it was okay,
it's going to be it's going to be aston Gent
in the top ten.
Speaker 4 (05:57):
We'll get to that in a minute, by the way,
and then it's.
Speaker 3 (06:00):
Going to be Omari and Hampton. Maybe he goes shortly thereafter.
Worst case he goes twenty to Denver. I'm starting to
get the sense, and in part because this class is
so good at running back and it's so deep that
the running backs could fall a little bit. And I'm
also getting a sense that it won't be shocking if
Trevon Henderson goes before Omari and Hampton, and so it's
(06:21):
just something to keep an eye on that. There are
some teams in the twenties that I know of that
have a lot higher grades on Trevon Henderson than people
would like to think. Now, will they take a running
back in the late first when there's the end of
the offensive tackle, run is going to be there, the
end of the edge class run is going to be there.
So that'll be interesting to see. But don't be shocked
if Henderson goes before Hampton. And also don't be surprised
(06:44):
if we don't have Remember twenty seventeen, Collin right with
that great running back class, Thirty running backs were drafted,
one of the best classes ever. It started with Leonard
Fournette and Christian McCaffrey. Alvin Kamara was in that class,
but there were only five running backs taken in the
first eighty five because everyone in the league knew we
can target our guy and different flavors on Day two,
(07:05):
on Day three and Saturday, and so we saw a
couple more go but from pick one oh five to
the end of the draft, there were twenty three running
backs selected.
Speaker 4 (07:14):
I think this class could be a little bit more
like that.
Speaker 1 (07:16):
So it's interesting. There's always a player. So the first
round's over and then everybody goes out, has a has
a cold beer, and they go to the lobby of
the hot hell they talk, and all of a sudden
there's one player, like a Mecca Muca of Ohio State
that didn't go and whoever's got that first pick in
the second round. Everybody's like, because I think that kid
(07:39):
I have taught, Nobody I've talked to doesn't love him, don't.
I mean if he can do he can do sideline,
more of a slot, runs, the right routes, work. You
can see the work on the field. So I have
this feeling that he's going to escape the first round
and all of a sudden there's going to be people
(07:59):
that move. Everybody's saying it's a move down draft. I
could see people moving up if he's not drafted in
the first round. So my question is is he a
first round or to you or very top of the second?
Because everybody likes.
Speaker 3 (08:13):
Him, I agree, if he's sitting there top of the second,
he's the guy that you do move up.
Speaker 4 (08:19):
For and it was interesting. I was at I was
at Ohio State for.
Speaker 3 (08:22):
The pro day, and it was like it was Nick
Bose's year. There were some stars at receiver and Haskins
was a quarterback. So I was sent out by the
network to go cover these these star players. Everyone I
talked to in the inside the building, coaches, people that
worked in the staff there, equipment managers like, hey, this
(08:44):
Terry McLaurin guy. You have no idea how important he
was to this team. And he wound up going what
third round?
Speaker 4 (08:50):
I think it was. Mek is kind of the same.
Speaker 3 (08:53):
It's like you watch him on Take Colin and it's
not this I made this ridiculous like comparison.
Speaker 4 (08:59):
Right.
Speaker 5 (09:00):
It's not like when you go out to a nightclub
or a lounge or somewhere and you see this beautiful
woman and she jumps up like there's no special trait
with a mecca. But it's like the friend group you
have and there's this one, this one girl or guy
that is like always there, trustworthy, makes you laugh a lot, and.
Speaker 3 (09:16):
Then over time, over time you're like, I just I
like how I I like who I am when I'm
around him. Yeah, I like I trust this person that's
a mecca. You trust him implicitly. He's a force multiplayer
in your locker room. You know what, You're gonna get
eighty ninety catches out of him. It may not be
eighteen yards per catch, but it's going to be like
eleven or twelve. We're gonna get first downs. He's going
(09:37):
to be a best friend to a quarterback in the league.
I don't think he gets out of the first round,
but if he does, I'm with you. I think I
think teams would be like, let's make a call overnight,
let's grab it.
Speaker 4 (09:46):
I checked him this hotel.
Speaker 3 (09:48):
By the way, and the first thing I saw, there's
a tap in this hotel. It's it's the herd pills
pills there, so they'll they'll grab a herd pills there, right.
Speaker 4 (09:57):
Could you believe me?
Speaker 3 (09:58):
I walk in here, I go my I got all
my stuff, and I see that the herd kills and
they're tapping here.
Speaker 4 (10:03):
So I had to get that on.
Speaker 1 (10:05):
That hotel's got good taste. Okay.
Speaker 6 (10:07):
I want to end with that.
Speaker 1 (10:08):
Abdul Carter he's been advised to get surgery. He doesn't
want to get surgery. Drew Rosenhouse very persuasive, but that's
that worries me. Like, I know he's talented. I watched
him play six times this year? Is that a deal break? Here?
Is that weird where he's got an injury. Everybody's saying, bro,
(10:31):
get surgery. He's like, I want to get surgery. What
do you make of that story?
Speaker 3 (10:38):
I've talked to teams in the league and they're not
overly worried about it, and it's kind of been left
at that, so I, you know, and I've talked to him,
like they've set their board. One team I talked to today,
they're doing their final. They they've got their psychologists coming in,
their doctors coming in. So like, different teams are in
different parts of the process. But ultimately I haven't gotten
(10:58):
any word from a single time team where it's like, yeah,
that's that's something that we would shy away from.
Speaker 4 (11:03):
Right, So.
Speaker 3 (11:05):
Let me before we jump off, I just want to
get to this. This to me on Thursday night is
going to be fascinating.
Speaker 2 (11:11):
Okay.
Speaker 4 (11:11):
I think Abdul does go three to the Giants.
Speaker 3 (11:14):
I think Will Campbell does go four to the New
England Patriots. I think this is a class where everyone
I've talked to lines up with a lot of my grades.
There's no offensive The offensive tackle would have been the
fifth fifth best tackle last year. The wide receiver would
have been the fifth best wide receiver last year. Okay,
but we're going to see those positions bumped up because
specific teams have specific needs, like the Patriots at left
(11:35):
tackle with Will Campbell. I'm hearing now, Jacksonville, think back
to Trevor Lawrence and Justin Ross and t Higgins, those
sixty four receivers, four thousand yards in twenty eighteen, twenty nineteen,
forty two touchdown catches.
Speaker 4 (11:47):
That's when he was at his best.
Speaker 3 (11:49):
There's this six to four wide receiver out of Arizona
called named Tetero and McMillan, and I don't have him
rated that high, but maybe he's the pick at five
and then six. Everyone said Ashton genty to the Raiders.
I'm hearing it's armand Membu the offensive tackle or maybe
an edge.
Speaker 4 (12:05):
So we could have a group because.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Of picks four, five and six and specific needs at
tackle and wide receiver that are there.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
All of a sudden, we get to seven and the
Jets we got Carolina at eight, we got New Orleans
at nine.
Speaker 3 (12:17):
The Bears at ten, and they could have a situation
where these edge rushers are still on the board. Jalen
Walker included, we could have Ashton Genty falling to the
Chicago Bears at ten, Tyler Warren and Colston Loblin. I've
talked to so many teams in the league. They all
have him in the top nine or ten players on
their board. All of these and Mason Graham defensive tackle.
(12:39):
So picks four and five are going to set the
tone for this draft, and the teams drafting after two
and through Chicago could be looking at players that they
had rated three, four, five on their board that are
still sitting there.
Speaker 1 (12:55):
I can't wait. Todd mcshae, the Todd mcshae, the ringer.
Speaker 4 (12:58):
Good see anybody, good seeing you.
Speaker 1 (13:01):
But yeah, it's the you know, it's so funny that
Hampton and Ashton Genty are getting so much publicity that
people are overlooking. Uh Trevon Henderson at Ohio State, who's
a stud And if you looked up and said, oh, yeah,
he made like four Pro Bowls, you'd be like, yeah, yeah,
I mean he is a he is a burner. I
(13:23):
mean he is big time When that guy gets like
a second step. It's like by so I don't know,
it's just he's one of these classic guys. Is because
Genty is such an interesting player five and eight and
a half out of Boise State. There's everybody's gloming onto him.
He's a very good player. I think we're forgetting Henderson
at Ohio State.
Speaker 7 (13:42):
But can I push back on Henderson for a quick second.
He was on a loaded teeth.
Speaker 4 (13:47):
But.
Speaker 6 (13:49):
Who are incredible?
Speaker 1 (13:50):
But they did not have a great offense at long It.
Speaker 7 (13:52):
Was good in the playoff, it was dominant. I mean, listen,
I like Henderson a lot. I had him in first
round in some mock drafts and some BeO more like listen,
he's more of a second but he's great value is
the second round, right like you put him on the rams,
he will be.
Speaker 1 (14:03):
Well, I don't have a second round pick, but he is.
There's two guys from Ohio State. This look like keep
asking about it. Yeah, the other guy too, who uh
the receiver and Henderson. If they're not taken in the
first round, they have to be the first and second
guy taken in the second round. Those guys are start
day one, you know.
Speaker 6 (14:19):
But a lot of this colent.
Speaker 7 (14:21):
We talked about Deavante Adams earlier, right awesome in Green Bay.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Goes to the.
Speaker 7 (14:24):
Raiders, puts up numbers, they didn't win anything. Goes to
the Jets numbers, they didn't win anything. But gotta be
on a good team with a good coach.
Speaker 1 (14:30):
Well that's the other thing. Davante was expensive. These guys
second round free. So when you get Davonte, okay, well
then there's people I can't get because of the salary.
I'm just telling you, if those two Ohio State guys
do not go in the first round, you can't tell
me it's a bad draft. Those are Day one exceptional starters.
Those are really good college players.
Speaker 6 (14:51):
What about your boy Will Howard or no Riley Leonard?
Who any chatter on those two?
Speaker 1 (14:56):
A lot of people don't have my ability to see
the future. He'll he'll go.
Speaker 7 (15:01):
I saw the funniest stat on the Louisville quarterback what's
his name, Shook Tyler.
Speaker 1 (15:05):
Something everybody tells me, dude, he is literally twenty seven
years old. He was older than Trevor Lawrence to that.
Speaker 6 (15:13):
So he played in college for seven years. He started
for one season, that's it.
Speaker 4 (15:18):
Now.
Speaker 6 (15:18):
He had a lot of starts, like spoty starts, guys.
Speaker 1 (15:20):
I said this, dude, when you go to college. Remember
when you went to college and your freshman year, you're
in the dorm and there's the resident the R. Yeah,
Resident Resident Advisor.
Speaker 4 (15:31):
The RA.
Speaker 1 (15:32):
And he's the one guy with a beard and he
drinks like expensive beer, like and he's got like the
nicest car. And you're like, that guy's a winner. No,
he's just older than everybody. He's just the old guy
that you're like, Man, he's drinking like he's not drinking.
Milwaukee's back a.
Speaker 6 (15:49):
Beast for that guy.
Speaker 1 (15:50):
Yeah, he's twenty seven in your nineteen, right, he had
a bit of an edge. So I would say that
quarterback is the r of the drive that I like.
Speaker 6 (16:00):
Okay, that's good.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon Easter nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio.
Speaker 1 (16:09):
App Jmack with the News.
Speaker 2 (16:13):
Turn on the news. This is the Herdline News.
Speaker 7 (16:17):
All right, Let's start with my guy, Jason Tatum and
the Celtics. They had a nice game one win over
the Magic. Interestingly, our guy Eddie House nobody by the
way watches this show in textan me during it. Like
Eddie House, he is a big watcher of the Herd.
He had a hot take here on Jason Tatum. I
don't know if you're gonna like it. Tatum was not
among the top three MVP finalists, and Eddie House is angry.
Speaker 8 (16:41):
Most disrespected superstar in the league, most disrespected All NBA
first team player in the league.
Speaker 2 (16:49):
It was a three straight years that he's been All NBA.
Speaker 8 (16:52):
He's disrespected, and that's okay because sometimes that's fuel for
the fire and for the greater good of what the
Boston Celtics are doing. I think it turn is turning
him into a monster, you know, and eventually he's gonna
get that MVP.
Speaker 1 (17:07):
Well, yeah, I mean he's a great he's a great player.
I only push back on one thing. He's not the
face of the league. That's the only thing I've ever
pushed back.
Speaker 7 (17:15):
Should he have finished top three MVP because it's Sga,
Jokis and Yannis who all had no great seasons.
Speaker 1 (17:22):
Yeah, but I would take Jason Tatum if you told
me today. Yanis are Jason Tatum. I don't trust Yannest
with two and a half minutes to go in the
playoff game. Dude, I don't trust him. He had it
no jumper in his game. None, he's got no jumper.
Speaker 6 (17:37):
He'll get to the.
Speaker 1 (17:38):
Rim and then it's great.
Speaker 4 (17:40):
No.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
By the way, physically he's had injuries. Tatum hasn't. Tatum
does everything well, including Leyden games, hit, free throw.
Speaker 7 (17:47):
I love Tatum, you know that. I just don't think
there's a case here for him to be top three
MVP Yiannis the season. When you look at the numbers, no,
they're like historically great form EMPP.
Speaker 6 (17:56):
He's gonna finish third.
Speaker 9 (17:58):
That's crazy.
Speaker 7 (17:58):
Do you watch that first in the play Yeah, I
had like forty and twenty ridiculous numbers. His teammates stunk
up the joint. Now he gets Dame back tonight or whatever.
Game two is, I uh.
Speaker 1 (18:11):
Stay away game zigzag, stay away?
Speaker 6 (18:13):
Yeah, look at you? All right, I'm not I'm not.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
I will say this about Jason Tatum. How about this.
If you said all things considered, salary, age, temperament, everything,
who would you start your franchise with today? Now A
lot of people would say Wemby, sure, okay, and then
Luca Well, I would go Jokic to how about this
SGA or Jason Tatum tough call?
Speaker 6 (18:40):
I don't think so. You know where I'm going on this?
Where you going Tatum? It's it's a it's a really
good he had an amazing season.
Speaker 3 (18:49):
No, I like.
Speaker 1 (18:50):
What I'm saying is, if you started your franchise today,
I think everybody would say Wemby Jokic. I think a
lot of people would say Aunt number three. He's on him,
probably Ant. I know it's closed, but Aunt made more
threes than anybody, and Aunt is rising. He's not in
his peak yet. I feel like I'm in the middle
(19:11):
of table.
Speaker 7 (19:12):
Could guard four positions, he could guard point guards, long off.
Speaker 6 (19:16):
I'm a Tatum guy. I like and a lot, but
I go Tatum over over, and so I.
Speaker 1 (19:20):
Would say Aunt three, and then I would get into
the s j Ork.
Speaker 7 (19:23):
You should rank the best American NBA players that that
would be a good list for you, because it sounds
like you think Aunt might be at right now number one.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
Lebron a kid, I would say, that's tough.
Speaker 7 (19:36):
I would say because Americannadian, I'm so best American player.
Speaker 1 (19:41):
S Ja's Canadian. Yeah, best American player. Let me think
about this for a second.
Speaker 7 (19:45):
So let me give you the names. Tatum is up there,
Lebron is up there.
Speaker 1 (19:49):
I'm not doing Lebron.
Speaker 6 (19:50):
He's okay, Anthony Edwards, Jah Morant, No Cave Cunningham.
Speaker 1 (19:55):
Jamer Okay, Okay, I would go it is a coin flip.
I'd go Ant because I do believe there's even another
small level to his game. Aunt one Tatum to Kawhi
Leonard again, you got to play more than thirty seven games.
Lebron's too old. No, I mean this is an issue
with the NBA. It's gotten very international top.
Speaker 6 (20:17):
I don't think that's an issue.
Speaker 1 (20:19):
Well, it isn't for us, but it is. Listen, it
stadders when you go play at Duke Carolina Yukon and
we don't.
Speaker 6 (20:25):
He's going to be on this line, that's right.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
Why because he went to Duke Yeah, okay, and he's awesome.
So I would say Aunt one Tatum won a Who's three?
It's it's not easy.
Speaker 6 (20:38):
Yeah, I need some more time.
Speaker 1 (20:39):
Who is on top? Who is number three? Domestic player?
It's it's first.
Speaker 6 (20:46):
I mean listen, I can't even do Jamal Murray. He's
he from Canada. He was on the Canadian national team.
Speaker 1 (20:51):
I'll throw one at you.
Speaker 7 (20:54):
Don't say Paul George, Devin Booker, Kevin Durant, Devin Booker,
they they You've not given me a thirty nine year old.
Speaker 6 (21:03):
I like d book I like him. John he's in
contented for three, Steph Steph Curry.
Speaker 1 (21:09):
How about here's another one.
Speaker 6 (21:10):
I know he's thirty seven, mixto.
Speaker 1 (21:12):
Here's another one. Jalen Brown's four or five.
Speaker 6 (21:15):
No, Curry's a Bucksaylor Brown. Come on, are you doubting Curry?
Speaker 4 (21:21):
No?
Speaker 1 (21:21):
I love Curry, but you're literally going it's not like
you're reading in nineteen eighty eight sports illustration. I'm joking.
I'm just I'm thinking of all the young guys, and
I would go Aunt Tatum Booker. I guess I shouldn't
eliminate Staph and those guys I should.
Speaker 6 (21:43):
Yeah, I love them, and Thompson the way goofball.
Speaker 1 (21:47):
Donovan Mitchell, he's up there, he's gotta bean, he's above
Jaylen Brown. Yes, yes, yes, No, Donovan Mitchell's top two
or three, he's three. Aunt Tatum, Donovan Mitchell. All right,
I apologize to that spot. It's great.
Speaker 7 (22:01):
Yeah, well, let's yeah, okay, let's move on to the
Browns and GM Andrew Berry said last week that Jalen
Milroe may be the only quarterback that's faster than Lamar
Jackson when he gets to the NFL.
Speaker 6 (22:14):
How about this one, This will surprise you.
Speaker 7 (22:16):
Tom Pelasorrow said that Milroe is, according to coaches and scouts,
the greatest runner of the football they've ever seen at
the position.
Speaker 1 (22:25):
Oh no, I was told that. I was talking to
Steve Kime about that a month ago, and now Steve
Kaime and Clutch Sports represent him. But Steve said on tape,
he goes, that's the best I've ever seen at quarterback.
Speaker 6 (22:38):
Listen, I love Milroe. You know I'm high on him.
Speaker 7 (22:41):
I would take him in the first There's nobody that
could convince me that he's a better runner than Michael
Vick was at Virginia till Michael Vick was unbelieved.
Speaker 1 (22:49):
I would argue Lamar's faster than Michael.
Speaker 6 (22:52):
Yeah, may according to Foody Time, But do you remember.
Speaker 7 (22:54):
Michael Victims show vic highlights go on YouTube.
Speaker 6 (22:57):
Michael Vick is otherworldly. I'm that guy, was his Listen, You're.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Not going to get me to say a bad word
about Lamar. Mike. Lamar Jackson and I love the VIC
but I've never seen anything in my life like Lamar
Jack anything.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
I mean, you're.
Speaker 6 (23:09):
Splitting hairs here, but it's yeah, well.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Milon Roll may have Milroll maybe better than Lamar's straight
line speed, but Lamar's craft.
Speaker 7 (23:17):
Yeah, he's like that. The final story is the Vikings Colin.
They made the decision to move off Sam Darnold. JJ
McCarthy's their guy. Well, apparently he's working his way back
in preparation for voluntary workouts, which kicked off yesterday.
Speaker 6 (23:30):
Here's Kevin O'Connell on his QB one.
Speaker 10 (23:33):
We might not be talking in the same lens that
we did a year ago when everything was brand new.
That's the beauty of the year we've had with him,
albeit without the physical reps since the injury, but there's
been a lot of time on task and just once again,
I want to credit JJ for how he's handled really
these last two two and a half three months or so,
(23:53):
where I think he's ready to hit the ground running
as of today.
Speaker 7 (23:58):
So last year you had the Denver Broncos is your
team of destiny?
Speaker 6 (24:02):
That was your team.
Speaker 1 (24:03):
I've had to be fair, I've had about four of
those in a Row all.
Speaker 7 (24:08):
Right, patch yourself on the back more. I'm gonna make
the Vikings my team next year after the Jets.
Speaker 1 (24:13):
I do believe.
Speaker 6 (24:14):
I'm a buyer.
Speaker 1 (24:15):
JJ McCarthy, Chicago's going to be way better than the Vikings. No, no, no, no, no,
Chicago is a team. Coach O line, Chicago's gonna win
the game.
Speaker 6 (24:26):
Vikings win fourteen last year. Don't act like Sam Darnold.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
I thought you said they're going to be better next year.
Speaker 9 (24:31):
Better.
Speaker 7 (24:32):
They're gonna be the team that I think has a
sneaky run to like the NFC championship. Minnesota love their offseason.
Let's see what they do in the range. Like you,
carolinea two years well you met so you were out.
You were fishing in the Caribbean. But Aaron Jones, the
former Packers running backs in the Vikings and during the
commercial he was telling me some stuff about McCarthy.
Speaker 6 (24:54):
I'm all in on JJ McCarthy. Aaron Jones was hiker
fourteen games.
Speaker 1 (24:58):
You think they're going to be better, Well that is
maybe what they gonna go seventy dollars.
Speaker 6 (25:06):
I don't maybe not on the on the score.
Speaker 1 (25:08):
Jordan Love's not gonna get hurt again, Chicago's going to
be notably and Aiden Hutchinson's back for the line.
Speaker 6 (25:15):
Terrified.
Speaker 1 (25:15):
I have Vikings winning nine.
Speaker 6 (25:17):
Vikings win the division.
Speaker 7 (25:19):
Oh yeah, Oh, I would bet you that you was
gonna say a million dollars.
Speaker 6 (25:23):
Well, I don't have a million dollars. You might, mister
elite whatever, mister.
Speaker 1 (25:30):
Sitting next to the Kardashians tonight, I'm the elitist. I'm
out there upper deck with a bud light. Whatever are
you done?
Speaker 4 (25:40):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (25:40):
J MA, Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping
by the Herd line news.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
I'll be Mayn't you make a sign? Can you take
a sign? NBA doesn't let you tonight. Hey j Mac,
let us all see where's something bright orange or something
that right?
Speaker 6 (25:54):
Enough of me, let's get back to you, Cavi R Cowherd.
Speaker 1 (25:57):
Okay, let's we take a break. We come back. That's
the Herd.
Speaker 2 (26:01):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon eastern non a em Pacific draft coverage. YEP,
with the first pick, the biggest names that know about
every player and every team. You've got it right here.
Speaker 9 (26:13):
God listen as Fox NFL insider Jay Glazer, former New
York Jets general manager Joe Douglas, College football Hall of
Famer and former number two overall pick LaVar Erringtech at
Fox Sports lead college football reporter Jenny Tap delivered the pick.
Fine pick coverage is the next nighty night, Fox Draft
Night Live lives right here on Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 1 (26:36):
All Right, good show today, Nick Right, Todd McShay, Croshed.
We appreciate that we had Nick on. You know, Nick
as a Lebron loyalist, and there's nothing wrong with that.
I do think eight days off and facing a hungry,
well coached underdog U is not as easy as it thinks.
We all probably should have seen that coming. The Lakers
(26:58):
just played with no physicality until it was way too late.
And here's Nick on a down a one heading into
Game two for LA tonight.
Speaker 11 (27:08):
The Timberwolves over the last few years are in the
regular season, I think twenty one to three when Anthony
Edwards has eight or more assists, and the three losses
they scored a ton of points, they just couldn't get stops.
They are at their best when ant is playmaking. I
thought the Lakers approach would be and I think it
(27:28):
should be ant. You're gonna be single guarded and if
you score forty, we'll deal with it. Basically what the
Timberwolves did to Luca. The Timberwolves said, Luca, if you
get forty, so be it. You're not gonna get ten assists.
The Lakers had the opposite approach. I think that's a mistake.
Speaker 1 (27:47):
Yeah, Oddsmakers have the Lakers favored by five and a half,
which feels big the way they were pushed around in
Game one. So that is the classic zigzag theory is
something like Milwaukee was boat raced by the pace. Now
I think I think Indiana's got better players, so that
one's different. I think the Lakers have better offensive talent.
So that's a fascinating story. We were thinking during the
(28:10):
break about domestic players. It's not as though there's not
a lot of them. Ant one, Tatum to Donovan, Mitchell, three,
Booker four, Halliburton's got to be up there somewhere, tremendous.
Speaker 7 (28:21):
Obviously, John Morant Warren's consideration. Zion Williamson is in the discussion.
I don't know if he cracks top ten. Carol Oh,
Paulo Bankara, I think definitely's got.
Speaker 6 (28:30):
To be like nine or ten. What about Lamello ball.
Speaker 1 (28:32):
No, no, a lot of highlights. No thanks, Paulo boncarl Is.
Speaker 6 (28:37):
He's very good.
Speaker 1 (28:37):
Yeah, he's gonna beaten by next year. What does he average?
Twenty four a game, twenty three a game.
Speaker 7 (28:42):
When Trey Young would have been on this list, like
when he took down Nasty.
Speaker 1 (28:46):
He has had a bad regression and he's had some
pretty bad big spot performance.
Speaker 6 (28:51):
Tyrese Maxie your boy. Remember last year this time you
were loving Tyres.
Speaker 1 (28:55):
I like him. It's just Philadelphia.
Speaker 6 (28:56):
He's on a boat in Cancun right now. Well, in the
same boat you went fishing.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
Hey, let me tell you something. You go if you
when you bring those snapper in in the Caribbean, that's
not what they are actually, you know, it's it's that's
it's fond, that's get out there and go fish?
Speaker 6 (29:12):
Is it? Were they just biting left and right there?
Speaker 1 (29:15):
I mean they were in the water. Caribbean fishing is
great waters twelve feet deep. You can almost see them.
Speaker 6 (29:20):
Will you jumping into swim with them?
Speaker 10 (29:21):
Or no?
Speaker 1 (29:22):
No, no, no, you throw most of them back, but
you know most but some you know. But the people
on the boat that you know, that's that's dinner. Yeah,
I love it. It was fun. They were funny people.
Fishing is a lot of fun in the Caribbean, so
you know, it's it's not rough seas, it's awqul water.
Speaker 6 (29:37):
What about you at the SPF. Are you like a
thirty or you have fifty?
Speaker 10 (29:40):
Yeah?
Speaker 6 (29:40):
I'm a fifty as well.
Speaker 4 (29:41):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (29:41):
Yeah, all right, So I gotta tell you this, this
this draft is interesting. There is a you know, here's
what I don't like. How many stories just connected to
the Giants had there been no I mean seriously, there
was one when we entered the show today, a rumor
about Jack's and Dart, and there was one during the
show today, is that both Cleveland and the New York
(30:04):
Giants are considering moving down. Yeah, there's just too much
noise around the Giants.
Speaker 7 (30:08):
By the way, you know who there's not noise around
the Jets. Aaron Glenn has shut it down. Glenn and
the New GM super quiet. Like, there's no leaks about
the Jets right now.
Speaker 6 (30:16):
There's leaks galore. Giants, the bad all the bad teams.
Speaker 4 (30:20):
Of course.
Speaker 1 (30:21):
Yeah, I'm I'm you know, you can say what you
want about the quality of the draft, but there's going
to be a lot of players that go in the
late first round, like these Colston Loveland guys and Travian
Henderson guys. I mean, the top of the draft may
not be good. There are a lot the second round
(30:43):
wide receivers. Four to five guys will get drafted, all
will play early. There is it stars, no starters everywhere.
