Speaker 1 (00:00):
And that meeting was it was a key factor to
that success of that of that day and I'm just
thanksful for Kyle Man.
Speaker 2 (00:05):
It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (00:06):
He like came out of nowhere exit from the training room,
and it was like, man, his aura was still being hurt.
His aura was still there. Shoot, He's like, don't every
win on Skinny Jeeves sh if I mean the kid.
Speaker 2 (00:18):
I was like, Man, I love Skinny Jee's. I love
being the fly.
Speaker 1 (00:21):
We talked about Ricky a little bit and he was like, look,
we found Ricky a best shrinking but earlier in his career.
Speaker 2 (00:27):
He was He was talking about he like, you ain't
gonna get no catch today. I was like, dang or
you sim.
Speaker 3 (00:38):
Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast. And we got
an incredible guest today, Kendrick Bourne.
Speaker 2 (00:45):
He needs no introduction being killing this season. Fifteen receptions
for two eighty four and twelve first down to the
last two games, b on what's what's good? But what
I'm sharing, Man, thanks for having me, bro appreciating it. Welcome,
you said, I don't need welcome, Man. I can throw
the energy through the screen from you. It's been good
last few weeks. Man, it's been fine. Man.
Speaker 3 (01:05):
How you doing, Man, I'm doing better now, I'm doing better.
I'm right where I need to be. I'm right when
I need to be. Man, you've been killing. But I'm
gonna take it. I'm gonna take it back to when
I first met you in twenty eighteen.
Speaker 2 (01:19):
And you.
Speaker 3 (01:22):
Know, you know, I call you b R. You know,
because they say you say you're born ready, that's what
they say.
Speaker 2 (01:27):
But said, so that's it.
Speaker 1 (01:31):
That's an insigner inside, that's an insigner. That's one way
to put it. Insider.
Speaker 3 (01:39):
But I don't think I've ever told you this, but
you changed the way I saw preparation for football.
Speaker 2 (01:45):
Gun. Wow, you changed.
Speaker 3 (01:47):
You changed the way I thought about it because I
always thought you had to be so locked in and
so like you know what I mean, headphones in, everybody serious,
and you used to be dancing and your energy he
is crazy and smiling and laughing.
Speaker 2 (02:02):
And I used to be like, bro, he ain't like
it at all.
Speaker 3 (02:07):
He ain't tripping about he ain't tripping about nothing, that boy.
And then you would go out there snag nag, snag,
clutch catch.
Speaker 2 (02:16):
I'm like, Okay, maybe it's a different way to do it. Man.
Maybe there's more than one way to skin a game.
I promise you.
Speaker 3 (02:26):
I used to think that you had to be serious,
you have to be headphones on, and if you wasn't,
you wasn't gonna play well. And you changed that whole
perspective for me. I said, this man's energy is different, and.
Speaker 2 (02:37):
I love it, Bro, I really appreciate that, Bro. Like
that's an honor to hear. Bro.
Speaker 1 (02:42):
Like even the last years, like later, you know, us
seeing each other again, like you said, Now, that's that's
an honor, bro. And it it goes to just enjoying
the game, you know, being young back then. You know
you saw me back then being a young guy just
trying to make a name, just enjoying the game, enjoying it,
not really understand and then you know how certain people
operate like that. You said you operated more like lock
(03:05):
in And I was just doing it how I thought
was how to do it.
Speaker 2 (03:09):
And it worked for me, and everybody works different.
Speaker 1 (03:12):
But it really was like an exciting time for me,
you know, just getting in the league, being young.
Speaker 2 (03:17):
I was really just enjoying it.
Speaker 1 (03:18):
But it has always been my personality and and it
worked for me.
Speaker 2 (03:22):
It kept me loose.
Speaker 1 (03:23):
It kept me in the mindset of like, hey, this
is a kid's game, you know, just enjoying it, and
so it was.
Speaker 2 (03:29):
It was really a fun time for me back then.
Speaker 1 (03:31):
But also to even hear how you say, like you
do have to have a professional side and like a
silly side too.
Speaker 2 (03:37):
There's it works both ways.
Speaker 1 (03:38):
So I've learned even getting older mature more like, hey,
you do have half a sense of locking in at
a certain time when it gets closer.
Speaker 2 (03:46):
So as I got.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Older, I started to learn how to tame it a
little bit, still be myself, but also engaged ownside of
what you're saying, like having that locked in mold. So
it was it was a good time that I did,
how it was, and then as I got older, I've
learned how to balance it. You know what I'm saying.
It's a business and you got to know how to
carry yourself, but it's also good to have that side
to it too.
Speaker 2 (04:06):
So it's just been a journey man.
Speaker 3 (04:09):
But it's also something about bro your energy and your
positive energy and you just constant, like vibrant energy is
something that elevates the team, you know what I mean.
And I think they're speaking to it right now that
they've missed, and you don't appreciate it or understand you
miss it until it's gone, you know what I mean.
It's like it's like something a part of an engine.
(04:30):
You're like, well, if we take this away, it won't
matter that much. You can just replace it with a
similar part. But you don't understand how massive that part
is and how the energy you bring into that building
affects so many people around you.
Speaker 2 (04:41):
And I think people are appreciating it now and I'm
happy to see that as fire. And that's exactly I
didn't really understand it either. That's what's amazing. You know.
Obviously I went to New England left for a little
bit and it was different. It was a different world
for me.
Speaker 1 (04:54):
And it's funny how you say, how you operate it,
you know, when you warmed up and then ideas, it's
almost like what I I was in San France. I
was like free, but then when I went to New England,
it engaged that side of me, that blue collar like,
oh shoot, like they operate different over here. So I
was bringing my energy into that and it kind of
got settled in, you know what I'm saying. I was
(05:14):
kind of like adjusting to my environment. So I wasn't
I would say, as vibrant as you say, because my
energy does affect And I think that was something that
I kind of like kind of loss, not laws, but
like I was just in a different space. So coming
back what you're saying was just amazing, Like I even
missed it and what you're saying, so I was able.
I'm able to pour out more into Like this environment
(05:36):
is just different.
Speaker 2 (05:37):
You know, you experience different things. Every place is different.
Speaker 1 (05:40):
But I definitely didn't understand how big it was and
how much I have to like enjoy that because it
feeds myself too, and like how I operate in a
crazy way. But I definitely see that the organization appreciates it.
Being back so far, you know, Kylin John and them,
they've been saying in there, so it's been fun.
Speaker 2 (05:57):
It's been dope so far. Bro, you're being you'll dope thing.
Speaker 3 (06:02):
And another part I want to say that I noticed,
and I've made it sure to comment every single time
I saw you wear a suit or anything. I said, look,
I remember when BR used to come in the building
totally different than this.
Speaker 1 (06:15):
I said, I don't know who this is unused you wo.
And that's a part of the growth that what you've
been talking about. And you've always giving me good advice
to like how to carry myself, little gems here and there,
but you never wasn't tied to like shut it down.
You always would just give little gems of like hey,
sprinkle this saying, you know, fix this up. And it
goes into that maturity and that growth. And my agent
(06:37):
is a big one that I was like, man, you
need to stop just wearing whatever you want. You gotta
look presentable. You gotta, you know, show you care about it.
And I think the suits they really do a big
thing for just what you're saying, like I'm about business,
like I am who I am, I'm goofy, I'm silly,
but when I step in between the white lines like
I'm about business and and it's something that you have
to learn and you gotta really like it may seem little,
(06:58):
but it's big. So the sue thing, man, has been fun,
and it does do something to you mentally when you
suit up, you're like, oh yeah, like.
Speaker 2 (07:05):
You even feel it.
Speaker 1 (07:06):
So so it's been dope, man, just growing, but being
myself has been fun.
Speaker 2 (07:11):
Man. But it's little things that go a long way.
And let's just talk about the team. Because you come in.
Speaker 3 (07:17):
When you come in, Mac Jones is all of a
sudden he's the starter for a little while because obviously
the injury that broad and you guys have instant chemistry
from New England. I witnessed it myself when they brought
me in on a Sunday night and young Bon was
in New England trying to run dig routes. I said, oh,
(07:39):
what a.
Speaker 2 (07:40):
Time time It's funny.
Speaker 1 (07:43):
So like yeah, Mac, it was crazy, Like it's ain't
ironic now how we're together. Man, God put us together
and he worked it all out. And so you know,
I never you never know what's gonna happen in life.
You never know what the journey's gonna bring. So just
trusting the plan, going working, being prepared for your opportunity.
Speaker 2 (07:59):
That's kind of what's been happening.
Speaker 1 (08:01):
With me when I went to New England, Like I
changed how I ate and worked and took care of
my body, like I went through so many changes over there,
and obviously I was going Mack his rookie year and
so not even like understanding four years later what would
be but just going through life, going through times of change,
and that's what it was when I left here and
(08:21):
going over there and need him Mac and we instantly
hit it off too, Like he was behind Cam Newton
at that time, and Cam was Cam was kind of
coming back from like trying to resurrect his time and
stuff like that, and Matt ended up getting a job
and stuff like that, and then we just kind of connected.
Speaker 2 (08:38):
We were connecting more and more.
Speaker 1 (08:40):
Obviously got paid and stuff like that, so I had
a roll in things and we just were connected. We
just were connected and you could feel it and it
started to show on the field and then fast forward
over it. Well, I'll talk about our game, which was funny.
So seeing you out there with this crazy he was like, man,
you go cheap running dud. It was a crazy time man,
even seeing you like in that that uniform. Man, just
(09:01):
seeing you everything, like our connection and stuff was just crazy.
Tom Brady just a crazy time player out there with
some legends like you and yourself and Tom, It's just
it's amazing, man, that that atmosphere was crazy in itself
and just a fun time. But like you said, you
could see the connection that we had, which is amazing.
So coming over here, him having his opportunity, me getting mine.
(09:23):
It's like you almost can't write it, bro, And I'm like, man,
guy like you, good guy, like appreciated, like it's a blessing.
And but it all goes into the preparation before prior
to like me being here, because if I come out
here not ready bosically, body, physically not ready, mentally not ready,
Matt mentally not ready, not physically ready, they're not gonna.
Speaker 2 (09:43):
Have these last two weeks that we have.
Speaker 1 (09:45):
You know, we're not gonna be prepared for it. It would
have probably passed us by. But it goes into the
work of prior years and all the build up, and
it's crazy how it's happening, but it's definitely ordained.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
And I'm happy about it, man, so so happy for you.
And you even had some adversity. It hasn't always been
smiles and rainbows. When you came back, you had the
drop on third Down and and we in an instant,
you know, gratification, but an instant tear.
Speaker 2 (10:11):
You down world as well. And I know how hard
that was for you.
Speaker 3 (10:17):
And it was on a short week and you gotta
pin tweet says, let the criticism help you not affect
you and talk about.
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Everything that you go through is for a purpose. And
that's the truth that I believe.
Speaker 1 (10:32):
So there's no growth in comfort, There's no there's there's
only growth in and like adversity and and hard times,
you change.
Speaker 2 (10:40):
You change how you think, you change how you operate,
you change how you view things. And in that game,
it was my first game with Brock too, so I'm like.
Speaker 1 (10:46):
I wanna, I want to help play with Brock, you
know what I'm saying, feeling it like, well make it
look good, and it just didn't go away. It's just
everything was going left. I had three drops in the
game and I'm just like, bro like what is happening?
And so it was adversity. So after the you know,
taking the l shout out Eric Armstead, it was almost
like his day, which was it was this game says revenge,
(11:07):
which was you know what I'm saying. The energy with
you could feel something was all which is crazy shout
to the guy. But after the game, I was just like,
you know, you self evaluate after every game like athletes
supposed to do, and we got to keep it real
with ourselves. Like so I'm like, all right, I could
have been in better spots. It was just it was
a weird game. But I could have made the catches.
That's what I do know, Like or I made those
catches all the time, so why didn't I make them?
Speaker 2 (11:28):
You know, bad eyes, trying to run before I catch
the ball, you know how I get ready?
Speaker 1 (11:37):
They going around without the ball, and some little things
like that that you watched the film you evaluate and
the next week that you said had a short week
and it was it was eating at me though.
Speaker 2 (11:46):
Man, I'm like, I gotta make up.
Speaker 1 (11:48):
And then you kind of doubt yourself. Sometimes you're like,
how it's gonna be him, I gonna have another bad game.
But you gotta have more belief than doubt. You gotta
you gotta know who you are and like your foundation
and stuff like that. So warm ups that game was
it was funny. I was really like looking in the
balls kind of acting different. I'm like, oh, I kind
of don't like this, like I've actually had a character.
But it was good because I was like feeling it,
(12:09):
like hey, don't run from it, don't don't be scared
of it, like lock in, Like it's kind of what
you started the podcast where sometimes you've got them days work.
Speaker 2 (12:17):
Hey, I can't be too silly right now, lot, sweet sweet,
I'm out there dropping that thing. It's this week.
Speaker 1 (12:22):
I'm I'm saying you ain't smiling as much, but you
know it's different times you go through. So that's like
what I've learned too, and what you're saying of how
you operate. And I was just looking the ball in
through the week and I had the game that I
had obviously, but it is kudos to like believe in
you know, always believing in yourself, understanding that you know,
I've been doing this for a long time. And to
have a short week was a blessing too because you
(12:44):
ain't got to think about it for more days.
Speaker 2 (12:46):
You got three.
Speaker 1 (12:47):
You got three days, and it was no great game
man breakout game for it was huge.
Speaker 3 (12:52):
I want to talk about Kyle Shanahan and his belief
in you, because he got a different belief in you too.
And I was in the team meeting where he threw
his criticism at you. I wasn't in every meeting that week.
I'm sure he got you gotten your high quarters a
low Bitlley, but he gave you fair criticism. But also
it spoke belief in to you. It's smoke faith, he said, KB,
(13:15):
I know you can do this.
Speaker 2 (13:16):
You know what I mean.
Speaker 3 (13:17):
I know you you catch this and take it out
the back end, he said. He said, you would have
got caught up the reins, but whatever, but he believed
you could do it, absolutely. And I think there's something
to that to say, hey, I know what happened, but
I also know the man you are. This is this,
this wasn't this isn't who you are, This isn't what
I believe you are. I know you better, and I'm
(13:38):
an feed you when he fed you that game, And.
Speaker 1 (13:41):
That's great coaching. That's exactly what it is. You know,
you want to you want to build your players up
and and and you know the game is all about coaching.
I can't be the player I want to be if
I'm not coached to be successful. Like and it's not
easy to be a coach, like I can tell like
they going through a lot trying to put me in
a position to be sic us. Well, they never know
what's gonna happen. But in that meeting, I felt that
(14:03):
I felt the encouragement, the coaching, the criticism, the constructive criticism.
It's important and like he not like, well, we're gonna
give up on you and the next person.
Speaker 2 (14:15):
Now it's like, no, I've seen it. We have a relationship.
You know.
Speaker 1 (14:18):
He gave me my first opportunity and that meeting it
really hit home for me. Man, and that was a
big part of the success of the LA game because
he talked about that the day before the game, like
it's not like it was, like you said, we already
had our means prior, so this is a build up
and like showing you, ay, I believe in you. And
when you got the belief of the coaches, you got
(14:38):
the belief of the organization, your teammates, it don't matter
about what the fans say. You know, the fans don't
what you're saying. They'll put you up and they go
tear you down. So you can never get caught up
over there. You got to focus on internally in the
building and that meeting was was a key factor to
that success of that of that day.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
And I'm just thankful for Kyle Man. He he really
knows what he's doing.
Speaker 1 (14:59):
He knows personalities, he knows how to connect and it
goes deeper than than football, and that's why you see
the success he's been having in his coaching career.
Speaker 2 (15:09):
No question.
Speaker 3 (15:10):
And speaking of players, man, we lost Fredriko, Like, oh,
talk about how the locker room is taking that.
Speaker 2 (15:17):
Man. That was hard to watch in every possible way,
and you know, like the injury itself, it's tough. You know.
Speaker 1 (15:24):
We was talking about like you know, you see a
guy going the tent handstring pool.
Speaker 2 (15:28):
He like, I don't really know what.
Speaker 1 (15:29):
Happened, and then he may go off lead a field,
but it's like, all right, he might be all right.
Speaker 2 (15:34):
But to see how gruesome it was was just hurt.
And to see who it was.
Speaker 1 (15:38):
What he's saying, you know, him playing that many consecutive games,
about to break the record all those things, was like,
oh my goodness, like out of anybody.
Speaker 2 (15:50):
And he gave us some good words after the game.
It was crazy.
Speaker 1 (15:54):
He like came out of nowhere through from the training
room and it was like, man, his or was.
Speaker 2 (15:58):
Still being hurt or what's still there?
Speaker 1 (16:01):
And shoot like yeah, you know, you know what I'm saying,
you Jim or somebody different, you know, And so he
walked out on the crutches.
Speaker 2 (16:08):
In the in the room is just silent, man. But
that's that's the power he holds.
Speaker 1 (16:12):
And and and the and the way he carries and
he just told us not to worry about him and
the way he works on the field. You know he's
gonna tacken the rehab. But it took them, It took
the life out of us in that game.
Speaker 2 (16:22):
Was a tough time.
Speaker 1 (16:23):
I love the way we still battle, but it's just
a lot of adversity. We're facing it and it's gonna
show who we are, who our backups are, Like now
it's ops for other people and is I go back
to me and mac Jones. We were kind of ready
for our op and it's showing. So whoever is behind Fred,
whoever is behind whoever gets down, who are you are?
You gonna step into your time and and that's kind
(16:45):
of we want to focus on that because it's hard
to keep mourning, bro, because it's miss Brent.
Speaker 2 (16:50):
Warner with his head. We can we can more for
the rest of the years.
Speaker 1 (16:54):
And that's and that's what and that's what he said
out his mouth during when he talked to us after
the game, was like, hey, don't don't don't worry about me,
like and it helps us and me even talk like
this too, because it came from his mouth, and you
know it's real.
Speaker 3 (17:08):
Right right, and you know it's real, and you know
what that's really what he means. And you know as
soon as that man can be back, he gonna be back.
And I don't think it's gonna be this season, but
they say three months and three months don't seem like
the end of the season for this team. And if
there's a will, there's a way. We have seen some
crazier things happen in this game. But take me back
to Eastern. You know we're gonna we're gonna switch. You know,
(17:30):
I know June Bug, so I know Junior Adams. I
know some things about young kV that everybody else don't know.
But you also got to play with Cooper Cup and
you got you know, low key.
Speaker 2 (17:43):
Eastern didn't put him out.
Speaker 3 (17:47):
I'm telling you telling you so it's me about y'all
relationship and playing with him and the growth you see
from him, the growth you seem from yourself.
Speaker 2 (17:56):
Yeah, that was a huge time in my life.
Speaker 1 (17:58):
Obviously, being a young guy, uh leaving leaving high school,
I was very very had a strict dad, strict parents,
no no party, no moving around, none of that. So
when I got to college, I was kind of free, like,
oh man, like living in the doors. Oh, I'm acting the.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Food out, Oh bree, And you know, you know what
that crazy.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
You know, that's a problem when you're not mature. You know,
everybody matures differently. There's some people that leave high school
and are very mature. But I'm not on him, dude.
Speaker 2 (18:29):
I'm like, bro, I didn't.
Speaker 1 (18:30):
Get to party all high was cool and my dad
was driven baffling apartment and so just got into the lifestyle,
just got into it, got into drinking, got into the
you know everything, and it was just a tough life.
Ended up having a baby young in college and things
like that. So just moving fast. Needed to slow down.
And that's where Coop was very influential in my life.
(18:52):
Like he was very mature. Like Coop knew he was
going to the league, Like his freshman year. I was like,
I don't know how he knew, but he was the
work that he was protting, and.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
It was like who he was, you know what I'm saying.
It was just he was more mature.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
And I remember one time it was our senior year
and I'll have senior itis.
Speaker 3 (19:10):
Bro.
Speaker 2 (19:10):
I'm like, man, I'm going to the league too, Like,
I ain't worry about nothing, eio. I don't know how I'm.
Speaker 1 (19:15):
Gonna go to the league. What I knew it was.
It was real delusion though, but I knew. And but
he came to me one day. It was during summer
and I wasn't going to No. Seven on seven and
I was just like, man, I'm good season year, We're
gonna cook.
Speaker 2 (19:30):
I was having good years, frying like my to the Majeria.
I was balling.
Speaker 1 (19:33):
But then senior year, he came to my house. He's
like man, He's like, man, I need you to get
to where I'm trying to go. And I was like, oh,
you need me.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Now I need you.
Speaker 1 (19:46):
But like it really it really hit like he's saying
this for a real like why is he saying this?
And he understands, you know, a duo and and have
we had another guy named Shaq here. We had a
good big three receiver group and we have potential. But
you can't do it by hisself. Nobody can do it
by theirselves. And it really hit home for me, and
I was like, oh, man, it's bigger than I think.
(20:07):
It's bigger than how little I'm making it.
Speaker 2 (20:10):
You can know what I'm saying.
Speaker 1 (20:10):
I'm like, oh shoot, And so after that, I really
locked in and ended up having my best year. But
a lot of it goes towards him and the standard
he held itself to. And he had held our room too,
and he had a lot of recruits out of college
coming to look for him and stuff.
Speaker 2 (20:25):
So he gave me.
Speaker 1 (20:26):
The opportunity to be seen by scouts and it was
just a blessing in itself to be around him and
moving on to the league, you know, like he still
influences me now, like balling triple Crown like, so he's
hold hisself to the same standard and I've always admired it. Man, Like, Okay,
I gonna be like and and I didn't have the
same kind of career. I'm just trying to build myself
(20:46):
up in the league and things like that.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
But it's inspiring and this is somebody that I'm close
to it.
Speaker 1 (20:50):
I'm like, Okay, I've been around I can do things
like that and believe in like that. It may not
go like that all the time, but kind of what's
happening to me now, it's kind of those numbers.
Speaker 2 (20:58):
It's kind of crazy. So I'm like late late bloom
with bloom though. No, that's a real thing. Though, that's
a real thing.
Speaker 1 (21:07):
Some people your career may struggle in your first two years,
three years, but then year six, bro, it might be
your time, and so are you ready for it?
Speaker 2 (21:16):
Are you prepared for it?
Speaker 1 (21:17):
And I'm not trying to, you know, predict that or anything,
but it has been time. I've been developing, I've been growing,
I've been changing mentally.
Speaker 2 (21:24):
Spiritually, physically. All these things are happening.
Speaker 1 (21:27):
So my time is kind of now to maximize in
year nine, Like to me, nine year.
Speaker 2 (21:32):
Right made a pro bowl to a year nine and
then it was perennial.
Speaker 1 (21:37):
Oh wait, and that's where it goes to koop, like
he inspires me in that way and then it's dope.
So in June, Bug juw Bug was here's my coach
my freshman year, and he was very influential. He ended
up getting better jobs, but he was very influential. I remember,
I'm not a story about June. It was the receiver meeting.
I was late to man, I was I was like scrambling.
(21:59):
I don't know what I was doing. I used to
want to get fly to go to school. I was
like you know, I will get dressed to be seen
and I'll go to the me I was coming to
the meeting's dressed and he never said nothing. But this
day he like he got on me and I was
knocking on the door. They was in the room, but
I was late and they were in the room and
(22:19):
he told everybody's like be quiet ass and I'm like hey,
I'm like trying to listen to the door, like they
gotta be in here this hard room. And I ended
up just running around, went to the locker room and
he's like where are you at? He's like, where was
you at? I was like, Bro's at the door and
he was like he's like see. He's like I teacher
lesson because all you try to do is worry about
being dressed, being fly, this and that, you know, focused
on the wrong things. And he had a good point.
(22:41):
He's like, don't every wear those skinny jeans shum I
meeting the kid, I was.
Speaker 2 (22:45):
Like, man, I love skinny jee's.
Speaker 1 (22:46):
I love being a fly, but I had to tame
different things that I need to learn.
Speaker 2 (22:50):
And after that, Bro, I used to I used to
still get fly, but I used to go home Before
the meme chay Y.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
Are into the locker room change getting ready for the
day and be lot Dan. So all that time at
Eastern was was very important for where I'm at now.
Little things that you learn from people that you encounter,
and it's just huge for where I'm at right now.
Speaker 3 (23:08):
Man, it's really cool to say, man, and it's and
it's cool to see full circle moment your relationship with
Ricky and yeah.
Speaker 2 (23:16):
The way y'all kind of immediately.
Speaker 3 (23:18):
Hit it off and you could see like you breathing
life into him. I'm sure you're giving him great advice.
The maturity I'm hearing in this conversation in itself, I
can't imagine how much impact you're having on him.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
I talked to Kyle today. I to tell our day
our day off. Had a conversation with Kyle. He was
talking about we talked about Ricky a little bit and
he was like, look, we found Ricky a best frind
and just dancing on film.
Speaker 2 (23:43):
Because we be we be getting caught on film all
day like and may look bad, but it is. It's
a connection.
Speaker 1 (23:50):
What you're saying, it's gonna now we're not competing with
each other, We're helping each other we're competing with other teams.
It's always the competition in the NFL with in the building. Yes,
we're competing every day. We know this, but how do
we how do we separate that? And it's hard to
do because I got my own personal goals, Ricky got
his personal goal, everybody got their personal goal. We're trying
(24:11):
to trying to take care of family, We're trying to
be great, trying to get some trophies and stuff back
there like you, so you know what I'm saying. We're
trying to do things. But how do we separate it
for the bigger goal? And I think that's what's happening
between me and Ricky, Like Ricky knows he just he's enjoying,
he's having fun.
Speaker 2 (24:26):
He's young. It's almost like he's not even year two,
Like the way he's playing and like moving.
Speaker 1 (24:30):
I'll be telling him, like, bro, you playing like you've
been playing for six years like and he but he
can feel that like genuineness of it, like the realness
of it. I'm not saying it from a place of well, yeah,
just gassing him up, flattering them. No, broad really admire it, bro,
Like it's different, bro. And like he was saying it too.
He's like, Bro, when you're in the huddle with me
and I can feel the energy and everything.
Speaker 2 (24:51):
So it's very genuine. Man. I'm excited to like for
him to be back too.
Speaker 1 (24:56):
I was even telling him, like, I got my opportunity
because you were down, Bro, Like, once you get back,
and I'm saying, we don't know how it's gonna go,
but I'm excited to have you back because the energies
needed and he's one of one, bro, So he's gonna
be a special player in his in his upcoming years.
Speaker 2 (25:10):
Yeah, it's gonna be.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
He put on some great tape and I love what
him seeing from Obviously, he had the issue early in
his career, the gunshot, and and thank god he survived that.
But I've really liked what I've seen from him. What's
the mindset going into the game against Atlanta this week?
Obviously they came out with a big win against the
Buffalo Bills. Uh, it's Sunday Night football. Bell Bell is
(25:32):
the start. They might even have be all on a graphic.
I think they might even catch him on a graphic
this week. Sunday Night Football. Kendrick Bore Eastern Washington it's
gonna be a good game.
Speaker 2 (25:47):
Man.
Speaker 1 (25:47):
Those those boys played in a big game last night.
Obviously I watched it two man. You could see the
John and them man, the defense flying around.
Speaker 2 (25:55):
Bro. They got some good guys over there, good scheme,
good coach.
Speaker 1 (25:59):
They just you could tell they changing the culture around
over there, and that's what was needed over there. And
you know, Pole got relationship with the Falgria. So it's
gonna be it's gonna be spicy. It's gona you know
what I'm saying. It stirred up already, and I'm excited
about it. You know, that's what you want to play on.
Speaker 2 (26:13):
You want to play on, you know, under the lights
and under in prime time and stuff like that. So
it's exciting. But it's a challenge for us. Man, Like
I didn't really know about him too until last night.
Like I was, Okay, this is a team. You know,
you look on the schedule, how everybody do it? Strength
the schedule. We could get this one, we could, you know,
But then it started. We in week six, it changed
quick from week one. Quick.
Speaker 1 (26:35):
It's looking different, I'm telling you. So, Like watching last night,
I'm like they just played the Bills. Who the top dog,
and you could see the bills they're they're like they
knowed the top dog.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
So that's where it gets tricky.
Speaker 1 (26:47):
And and we're considered a top dog right now, and
you're gonna get teams best at all times. So I
feel like for us, we need to understand that, like
evaluating that game last night, not trying to feel like
we better than anybody, respecting the opponent, coming in with
the right mentality, playing ahead of the sticks and stuff
like that, like it's super important. So on offense, I
(27:07):
think that's kind of things we need to do defense.
You know, obviously they got a challenge, you know, missing Fred,
missing oh, some big guys. But it's the opportunity and
for the next person up and for our team to
show we could still.
Speaker 2 (27:18):
Get things done even when we're going through adversity.
Speaker 3 (27:21):
Yeah, definitely is the opportunity. It's a cool, cool opportunity.
Showcase Prime time again. We got five quick ones before
I let you out of here. Who was who was
the receiver you looked up to growing up?
Speaker 2 (27:34):
The student bro crazy thing I looked up to Odell Beckham.
Speaker 1 (27:39):
Wow, he frightens me right like, but thinking about O'Dell
even what he's going through now now playing for him.
Speaker 2 (27:45):
Man, it's tough times for right now he's trying to
get back in. I hope you.
Speaker 1 (27:49):
Because he's one of my favorite but he was very
influential on me, just his era and the age I
was at, like you know, being high school being you know,
seeing him like enough everything, the showcasing, which was just dope.
Speaker 2 (28:03):
So uh.
Speaker 1 (28:03):
He was somebody that I really looked up to. And
that's where some of the antics he coming from, Like
you gotta be an entertainer. Bro Odell's one of the
entertainers and in football and it's a market in.
Speaker 2 (28:14):
That it's important, but you got to be a baller too,
so he was. He was somebody that I've always looked
up to. Man, I've admired Brillan. It's a It's a
funny one because I'm close.
Speaker 3 (28:23):
I can't imagine if they would have gave you the
light they gave O'Dell.
Speaker 2 (28:26):
I cannot be you the Ruins July, you know, no.
Speaker 1 (28:36):
For real, bro Odell's the whole different Stratton spear bro
It's crazy.
Speaker 3 (28:41):
Ain't list celebrity right now? Who's the toughest corner you've
gone against in the league?
Speaker 1 (28:47):
M so I always be between Dary Sligh and the
uh Pathy Peterson.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
Okay, but then were my favorites. Then was my favorite too.
But I gotta give it to path he he.
Speaker 1 (29:00):
He was the most like like intimidating life.
Speaker 2 (29:04):
Before you go that week, You're like, oh, bro, I
need to I need to see what he been doing.
Speaker 1 (29:08):
And I called him around his later years so he
wasn't as crazy, but he was very smart.
Speaker 2 (29:13):
Instincts was crazy and you.
Speaker 1 (29:15):
Couldn't like no plays off, you couldn't do a lazy
route things like that.
Speaker 2 (29:19):
So I have to give it to pass He, no question,
no question. I love that answer. Favorite touchdown celebration. That's
a hard one for you because because you'd be jiving Gulo.
My favorite one, I would have to say.
Speaker 4 (29:34):
I had to say in New Orleans Saints, I had
two touchdowns and uh the second one was funny because
I when the first one was funny because I did
a dance, but they all our teammates was pushing me,
so I couldn't finish it.
Speaker 2 (29:46):
I'm like, hey, hey, he marveled me right now, Elboddy.
Speaker 1 (29:50):
Starting moment, but they like pushy, so I like stumbled
and then I man saying that we did our handshakes
and that was fun.
Speaker 2 (29:58):
Then I had a second one where they kind of knew.
I was like, hey, if I get back.
Speaker 1 (30:03):
In the game, y'all, I know, y'all excited, brother, get
a little straight and I ain't like a little dance.
Speaker 2 (30:10):
I was cutting up. Brother. Now, that was the top dog, y'all.
Scored a lot of points that day. Was what up?
Speaker 3 (30:16):
That was a big game too, man, I was a
brough game for us. I remember I looked at that scoreboard.
I said, yeah, figure it out. It was in that point,
on that point. Shoot down, shoot out, shootout, shoot out
(30:37):
hell pre game hype song, pre.
Speaker 2 (30:40):
Game HiPE song. So I gotta I gotta freaking hype song.
It is a gospel rap song by Kean Booon. It's
called where are My Phone?
Speaker 3 (30:49):
Is that the one you put on your story or
on your uh picture of my Instagram?
Speaker 2 (30:54):
It might have been hold on. It's called Slight Reverend.
So it's a good song. It's a good song.
Speaker 1 (31:00):
Give me, give me that mold, give me a little good,
feed my spirit, but give me a hike at the
same time, So ke onm poo.

Speaker 2 (31:35):
