Speaker 1 (00:05):
Welcome back to the Richard Sherman Podcast, and it's Week seven.
Mitchell chaos in the NFL. Who's the contender, who's the pretender?
You really don't know. But what I do know is
New York the Giants might have found him one.
Speaker 2 (00:20):
I think the Giants did found them one of Jackson
dart Man. Holy cow, what a game for the New
York Giants, unfortunately for them. Talk about blunders, Richard. They
give up thirty three points in the fourth quarter, and
I know you as a defensive back. Let's before we
get to this game, let's talk about a specific play
(00:41):
because it comes down to the wire. The Giants are
trailing and they throw a deep ball up on the
right side. Ridley Moskets flagged at the one yard line
with PI on a back shoulder fade. I guess if
you want to call it that a ball that was
thrown underneath the receiver and the refs bail them out.
I know you did not like that call, and ultimately
(01:02):
I think karma, you know, awarded the Broncos with a
big time victory. Richard, your thoughts on that play and
your thoughts on this game.
Speaker 1 (01:12):
Yeah, it was an incredible game. I mean early long
you thought, hey, the Giants, it looks like their day.
You know, it couldn't go better for them. But Jackson
Dart had some some real, real great passes, got got
some things, didn't use his legs, a ton got a
little banged up. THEO Johnson catches catches a tip pass
from Wandale Robinson, and you think, oh my god, this
(01:34):
is the Giants day. Then Denver wakes up in the
fourth quarter. Thirty three points in the fourth were all
the way back and win this game. But the play
you're talking about was the penultimate drive of the game.
And Riley Moss, I don't you know, I hate to
be cliche, but I don't think he could have played
(01:55):
that any better.
Speaker 3 (01:56):
You're playing through the receiver.
Speaker 1 (01:58):
Look look back for the ball, swipe through the receiver,
and it's incomplete.
Speaker 3 (02:02):
It looks like a no play.
Speaker 1 (02:03):
Like, hey, I've seen I've seen worse things happening and
not be called. But these underthrown pis are the death
of me, Like they're gonna be the death of this
game because it's it's detrimental to the game because you
only you were rewarding the offense for bad play. You're
rewarding offense. It's hard enough play to make. I want
(02:24):
to I challenge anybody to go outside and have somebody
run a route and then have somebody underthrow it, and
I want to see you either stop them from catching
it or defended without without ping them, and then you
will finally understand how hard it is to play defensive
back in this league. And for Riley Moss to look
back through in that critical situation and for them to
throw the flag, I oh, I don't think it's good
(02:46):
for the game, man. I don't think it's good for
the game. But you know what, football has a way
of even in itself out and figuring it out.
Speaker 3 (02:54):
And the Broncos came back.
Speaker 1 (02:56):
Bownicks played a really good game in the second half,
especially fourth quarter. I would say, yep, he threw two TVs.
He threw the ball fifty times, two seventy nine, two touchdowns.
They started to hand the ball to JK. Dobbins a
little bit more. He ended up with fourteen carriages for
eighty one yards, and the defense showed up. They got
a critical interception in that fourth quarter, a big time
(03:17):
interception deep in Giants territory, which which ended up being
incredibly helpful to their comeback effort. They had four sacks
in the game, obviously coming in with the lead sack
getter Nick Benito, one of the best corners in the
National Football League, if not the best corner reigning Defensive
Player of the Year Patrick Surtain.
Speaker 3 (03:33):
And even with all that they they had, it had to.
Speaker 1 (03:37):
Come down to the wire, but they were ever able
to make enough plays down a stretch to win this game.
That's that's that's championship grit. That's a playoff team. That's
good coaching, that's good execution, and that's a great learning
for this team. You know, I know this defense is
probably gonna be kicking themselves looking at missed opportunities giving
up thirty two points in a game. But you'll take
(03:57):
learning lessons in a win, no question about There's no.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
Doubt about it. And especially with the Kansas Kansas City
Chiefs looking like their old self at four and three, now,
these Buccaneers need to I'm sorry, these Broncos need to
keep up with them. Five and two. Now, this is
a huge win, and this was a win they should
have had looking at the schedule. But I tell you what,
Richard the New York Giants. There's something brewing in New
(04:21):
York right now. I mean, albeit with the loss, what
they have with Jackson Dart and Cam Scataboo. I mean,
as a New York Giant fan, you've got to be
looking at this team and saying, hey, I don't know
if we're going to make the playoffs anyway. So maybe
it's not the worst thing that we take a loss today.
Maybe it helps us in the long run. But you
got to look at this team and say, wow, Okay,
(04:41):
maybe they are onto something.
Speaker 1 (04:45):
Yeah, you definitely do. And in the grand scheme of things,
this was a lost season for the Giants anyway. You're
not expected to win the world. You're not expected. But
I think one thing is it is true, is is
Day Bowl shouldn't be going anywhere this year. I think
they can continued. They're going to continue to draft. They're
gonna have a high draft pick. Unfortunately, I don't think
(05:05):
they have the team to necessarily compete, but to compete
with a playoff team from last year, a team that
is well coached, the team that's expected to be contenders
this year, not only for the AFC West, but for
potentially the Super Bowl, especially with that defense for them
to come out and play the way they did, to
hang in there to really dominate for a majority of
(05:25):
this game. Jackson Dart seems to be the answer in
New York. Obviously, he struggled a little bit late when
he got banged up, but he still had three touchdown
passes he ran one in. That's four touchdowns in the game.
Scatter Bolt sixteen carries for sixty yards. Tyrone Tracy came back,
made an impact, had a thirty one yard touchdown in
this game. And the defense had a couple of sacks.
But Brian Burns got banged up. Obviously there's some issues
(05:49):
late in the game. But again, this is without Malik Neighbors,
this is without Slayton, this is without your go to guys.
So you have to take take, take some, take some solids,
and knowing that you did this with Dan Daniel Bellager,
Theo Johnson, uh Wandale Robinson and no, no, you know,
(06:09):
disrespect to those guys, but those aren't your guys. Those
aren't your your premium players. You expect Malik Neighbors to
come back and be a big time guy. I expect
him to draft likely offensive lineman in this draft. High
up but I expect him to draft more playmakers and
then defensively you would expect more pressure. But give give
Dinver Broncos a lot of credit. They they played well
(06:31):
the Giants. Next game, they got the Eagles again, who
they just beat on Thursday night.
Speaker 3 (06:35):
We had them the Giant.
Speaker 1 (06:36):
The Eagles coming off a really good win where their
offense looked really special. They're wide receivers. Both of them
had over one hundred yards in the game. Uh Jalen
Hurtsch threw for over three hundred in the game, and
he looked really proficient, especially late in that game.
Speaker 3 (06:50):
So I'm looking forward to that.
Speaker 1 (06:51):
Can they can they match the energy they had against
him a couple of weeks ago. We'll see the Broncos
have the Cowboys, who looked like an entirely different team
than they had in a pass against the Washington Commanders.
They played well defensively, had a pick six. Dron Bland's
back in the lineup had a pick six. They talked
about playing more man coverage and they were able to
do it. Obviously to Washington Commanders were without their top
(07:13):
three pass catchers, but still they and obviously Jayden Daniels
got banged up in this game. But Dak Prescott looks
really really good, Mitchell, I.
Speaker 2 (07:24):
Had no question about it. You want to know who
else looks really, really really good? Is Inanianapolis Colts. I
mean this team. To me, if you wanted somebody to
have to go on the road and prove it, to
prove that they're worth this championship contender category, it was
Inananapolis Colts. And now they're six to one. They go
on the road to the LA Chargers and they take
(07:46):
care of business. I mean they dominated this game. Richard,
your boy Indiana Jones, Daniel Jones putting on another clinic
and then his running mate, mister Taylor. I mean Jonathan
Taylor with three touchdowns. Holy, he's got to be firmly
in that MVP combo. I would assume that's so tough
to break as a running back. But Richard, the Indianapolis
(08:07):
Colts win by fourteen points, thirty eight to twenty four
against the LA Chargers, who are trying to keep up
in this division race with the Broncos and with the Chiefs.
What are your thoughts on the Indianapolis Colts right now?
Speaker 1 (08:20):
I think they may be the best team in the AFC,
and I know I'm gonna get some flak for that
because of the Buffalo Bills. But the Buffalo Bills have
shown some chinks in the armor, no question about it.
I haven't seen those same chinks from the Indianapolis Coats. Yes,
they've lost the game, but even in the game they lost,
I thought they could have won that game. If Ada
nine Mitchell doesn't drop the ball over the goal line,
if he doesn't have that holding call on Jonathan Taylor's
(08:43):
fifty yard run, they easily win that game against the
La ramsal A rams So again. Indiana Jones a guy,
just an entirely different player from the guy that was
in New York. Shane Steichen has injected belief in this guy, confident,
and they just look like a great team. They're complete,
(09:03):
they can do it on the ground. Jonathan Taylor looks
like an MVP candidate. Ten rushing touchdowns on the season,
one receiving touchdown, eleven total touchdowns, and sixteen carries for
ninety four yards. In this game, he looked dominant and
a lot of the TV runs looked identical. You look
at him, You're like, is that the first one or
the second one or the third one? I'm not sure,
(09:24):
but Daniel Jones could be an MVP candidate. They're not
gonna give MVP to a running back, unfortunately. Y'all can
argue with somebody else if they weren't gonna If they
didn't give it to Saquan last year, and they're not
gonna give it to CMC the year before, they're not
giving it to running backs. I think they should change
the award and give the quarterbacks their own award so
that they can give the MVP fairly and stop saying
(09:45):
it's just a quarterback award, because that's what they're making
it right down. No matter what a running back does,
they're not giving him the award, no matter how valuable
they are to their team. But defensively, they played a
great game even without Charvarius Award in the line up,
who went to I R with a concussion. In the
pregame from the game before, they looked incredible. They had
(10:07):
three sacks in the game, two interceptions, They got kennymore
back in the lineup. They were giving Justin Herbert issues
all over the place. Obviously, they had three sacks. The
Chargers offensive line has been absolutely decimated with injuries, losing
Joe aut and Rashaun Slater. Not many teams can can
overcome the loss of those two kind of caliber tackles
(10:31):
no matter what. Even if it was just you're starting
right and left tackle, that's a tough loss. But to
have you're starting to right and left tackle be premier
players and to lose them for the season the way
they did, it's a tough pill to swallow. But Keenan
Allen had a good game eleven catches for one hundred
nineteen yards. He continues to be a safety blanket for
Justin Herbert. Justin Herbert through the ball fifty five times today.
(10:53):
That's what you're gonna expect without Omrion Hampton in the
lineup anymore. He's banged up there. Without so many of
their star players, you got it. Somebody else is gonna
have to step up. Quentin Johnson didn't have the game
he usually has, but Gatson steps up in his play
seven catches for one sixty four Herbert throws for three
(11:13):
touchdowns of four hundred and twenty yards, but he had
the two interceptions, and that was a difference.
Speaker 3 (11:18):
In the ball game.
Speaker 1 (11:19):
Again, the Colts looked like the most complete team in
the AFC and maybe the NFL both.
Speaker 3 (11:25):
Sides of the football.
Speaker 1 (11:26):
A top five defense and offense that's incredibly balanced. And
one thing that was notable in this game is when
they had to get a first down to seal this game,
they did what they ran one with Jonathan Taylor and
they had to get another first down Mitchell and guess
who they leaned on, Indiana Jones. They leaned on Indiana
(11:47):
Jones to close this game out. And that just shows
you the drastic change in the belief that they have
in this young man. He's looking like an incredible player
right now. He's looking like the first rounder that was drafted.
And I look forward to seeing what they're going to
do all season. I hope I'm right about this team,
but it feels right because they're so balanced and they're
(12:08):
so freaking good on defense.
Speaker 3 (12:11):
I love this for lou Atmo.
Speaker 1 (12:14):
I love this for him because he was suffering in
Cincinnati where they're spending all their money on the offense
and nothing on the defense, and he's coming to a
team that has more balance, he has more say so
in the roster, and it's turned out really good.
Speaker 2 (12:27):
And fortunately for the Indianapolis Colts, they get the unofficial
bye week next week playing the Tennesse Tennessee Titans, So
you know, it's very, very feasible we could be looking
at a seven to one team after eight weeks. But Richard,
I want to dive a little bit more into Indiana
Jones Daniel Jones. I know we talked about it in
podcasts past, but Richard, the Indiana Jones, the New York
(12:50):
Jones we saw last year and Daniel Jones, I mean,
call me crazy, There's no way anyone could have seen
this coming. How does this happen? I know it's coach,
I know it's structure, I know it's his system, But
like Richard, you played in this league number of years,
how in the world does this happen with Daniel Jones.
Speaker 3 (13:12):
Like that.
Speaker 1 (13:13):
I can't totally explain it and say that I know
all the answers because it's I don't think it's that
simple and clear. But I think it's something to be
said about all these quarterbacks that are going to new places,
to these quarterback whispers and having success. I think they
said Daniel Jones had a little bit of time with
Kevin O'Connell when he said that was some of the
most valuable time that he's had as a quarterback. He
(13:35):
learned more in that time than I think he learned
in all of his years in New York. And that's
no shot at day Ball on their staff, because obviously
they're doing a solid job with Jackson Dart right now.
But sometimes when you lose your confidence early and fans
get down on you, everybody gets down on you, especially
in a big market like New York. You saw it
with Sam Darnold. It's hard to recover because once you're labeled,
(13:59):
once you get labeled certain thing, it's hard to lose
and shake that label. And I think it took him
going somewhere else, them really really building an offense that
emphasizes his skill set and what he does well is
supported by an incredible run game, a good running back,
a good scheme, a good defense. You surround a quarterback
(14:21):
with a good running game and a good defense, he'll
have a chance. And then you speak confidence into him,
put him in positions for him to be successful within
his skill set, not ask him to do things that
other quarterbacks did or somebody you worked with in the past,
but designed it specifically for him. And I think that's
what the Indianapolis coach and Shane Stike can have done,
and that's why he's thriving.
Speaker 2 (14:42):
It's unbelievably impressive. Richard. Let's talk about the Kansas City Chiefs.
They took care of their division rival, the Raiders in
dominating fashion. Everyone was worried about the Chiefs. I thought
they were done. I mean you, I don't know if
you thought they were done or not, but they certainly
do not look they are done. They look dominant, Richard,
(15:02):
thirty one to nothing. Rashie Rice is back in the fold,
and he got involved very early, very often. What was
it four or five catches in the first quarter. He
ends up with seven catches for forty two yards and
two touchdowns. How important is Rashi Rice to this offense?
Speaker 1 (15:19):
I mean, the way they look today, he seems like
the lynch pin. He seems like the pivotal piece at
least for Patrick Mahomes to have success because everything opened
up with him back in the offense. You see Travis
Kelce getting his longest gain in four to five years,
Roshie Rice having two touchdowns, but check O getting.
Speaker 3 (15:40):
A little a little bit more breathing room in there.
Speaker 1 (15:42):
But it's Patrick Mahomes that looked the best today, and
I think that should be scary for the rest of
the league, because no, I didn't think they were done.
And I told you this, I said, I'm not counting
the Kansas City Chiefs out anymore. Not ever, I don't
care unless they're unless they're shown to be statistically disqualified
from the playoffs and they're eliminated. I believe they gonna
(16:06):
They're gonna have a chance at the end because that's
what they've done. If they get in a tournament, they're
probably gonna make it to the end. And nobody wants
to see them. Nobody wants to see the Kansas City
Chiefs on their schedule in January.
Speaker 3 (16:20):
No, you don't. You don't. You could say you do
the Buffalo Bills. You don't.
Speaker 1 (16:24):
Indianapolis coach would love to avoid them, Like there's nobody
that's like, hey, yeah, let's get the Kansas City chief
Jacksonville Jaguars. I know you guys feel good about that win.
You would hate to see them coming to Jacksonville in
January because guess what, go ahead and book your vacations
because it's over with. And that's the way they've been.
They've been in the Super Bowl five in the last
six years, So we'd be foolish. We'd be foolish to
(16:48):
think anything else because that's what they've proven. You gotta
get sometimes you got to give people respect of the
respect of their past. Mitchell, Hey, this is what they've done,
this is what they've shown, this is their reputation. Reputation,
champions their reputation. They're gonna make the show. So look,
until they don't live up to their reputation, I'll think
(17:09):
there will be in it regardless of what's going on.
We've seen seasons where Patrick Mahomes has struggled early. They've
gone on the Super Bowl. We've seen years where he
looked like the MVP candidate. They've gone to the super Bowl.
We've play years where they're a defensive team. They've gone
to the super Bowl, you know where they're really really
driven by their run game.
Speaker 3 (17:29):
They've gone to the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (17:31):
So they've shown Andy Reid has shown, Spags has shown
they can do it a lot of different ways. Whatever
way that it needs to get done, they can adapt
and get it done. So I've had a lot of
belief in them and I continue to do that. The
way the defense played today against the Raiders. I don't
think I've seen anything like that. I think they said
the Raiders had thirty offensive plays, the least amount of
(17:52):
plays since like twenty since two thousand and two. I
think it was they had seventy five yards passing twenty
five yards rushing. I mean abysmal. That's abysmal offense in
the National Football League. And I feel awful for Pete
Carroll and his staff because you know, you're not sure
they're gonna have a job. I don't think the Raiders
are gonna fire anybody in season. They've done that enough.
(18:12):
It doesn't work. But hopefully they give him another year.
But that's a rough game, especially a division rival, to
come back like that, to to to come back from Obviously,
Geno Smith is struggling a lot this year. I think
he's leading the league and interceptions, and they just don't
look like a confident team, obviously being without Rock Powers.
(18:33):
Jacobe Myers was out. Everybody's calling to trade for your
best pass rusher and Max Crosby, and it may time
may be time to look at that, you know, it
may be time to look at some of those things
and allow these guys to see what life's like somewhere else.
Put Max Crosby. Could you imagine Mix Crosby on the
Indianapolis Colts or the Seattle Seahawks or the San Francisco
(18:57):
you know, just somewhere else where you could be imediately impactful,
have a chance to have a winning season if you
put him on the Colts. Sheesh, Mitchell, that changes that
dynamic immediately.
Speaker 2 (19:12):
I couldn't even imagine, Richard. I mean, fortunately for you,
you played on a lot of winning teams. I mean,
could you imagine being in Max Crosby situation right now,
in the prime of your career and a proverbial dumpster
fire in Las Vegas?
Speaker 1 (19:26):
No, I couldn't. I couldn't because I would ask for out.
I'm sorry. I'm not built to keep losing like that,
especially you know the way he's showing up to work
and going full speed, going as hard as he can
every week. He's not giving up at any point in
the game. He plays four quarters all the way to
the clock strikes zero. You want to have a chance
to actually be playing for something, and he's given this
(19:48):
organization everything he could and they had, you know, Unfortunately
it hasn't worked out. Like it should for him, same
thing as true for Miles Garrett. You hope those guys
get a chance to play in the postseason, to make
impactful plays in anuary, to see what it feels like
to play in championship games and Super Bowls on the
biggest stage and the brightest lights. But if they stay
(20:08):
where they are, it doesn't look like they'll get that chance,
and it's just unfair to the game. So hopefully, you know,
something positive happens. Obviously, it's not the Raiders season this year.
The Chiefs have the Commander's Next playing, you know, and
it doesn't look like Jaydon Daniels will be back there,
so they'll likely be facing Marcus Mariota, and that's a
game they could win as well. So you talk about
(20:29):
getting back on the right track. They're four and three now,
they could be looking at five and three, and like
you said, the Denver Broncos, you need to create some
distance between them and the Kansas City Chiefs because again
they'll they'll sneak up on you and be coming for
the one or two seed at the end.
Speaker 3 (20:45):
Of the year.
Speaker 2 (20:47):
No question, I'm in shoot. I became a believer again
in the Chiefs last week when they took care of
my Detroit Lions. But this week with Rashi Rice back Man,
I think they put the national media in lancek Ape
of the NFL. I notice that they have never left.
They are firmly back in that championship caliber conversation.
Speaker 1 (21:07):

Jackson Smith and Jigba have scored a touchdown in five
straight October games as a favorite, He's.
Speaker 2 (21:23):
A stud, Richard. I'm not even gonna debate that Sam
Darnold has thrown for two hundred and forty one plus
yards against AFC opponents five times in a row. His
over is just two thirty and a half.
Speaker 3 (21:36):
Sounds like a steal to me.

Speaker 2 (22:12):
Richard, let's talk about the Philadelphia Eagles. They go on
the road, they take care of the Minnesota Vikings twenty
eight to twenty two. Jalen Hurts has a solid game,
I mean, his best game of the season, no question about.
At nineteen to twenty three, to three and twenty six yard,
three touchdowns. He found his buddy always open aj Brown
four receptions for one to twenty one and two touchdowns.
(22:34):
I know you got to love to see that. The first,
I guess quarter of the season, this Philly offense just
had no identity and now they still can't run the football,
but they finally figured out how to throw it and
they take care of the Minnesota Vikings. I'm not gonna
leave this game and think, hey, Philly is dominant. I
(22:55):
don't think they are. I mean, Carson Wentz gifted them
an interception. He did not look good at all. But Richard,
what are your thoughts on this Philadelphia Eagles team. They
escape Minnesota with a win.
Speaker 1 (23:07):
I think this was really good for the locker room. Obviously,
there was a ton of frustration going on both with
the pass game, both receivers who were frustrated, Sakwon Barkley's frustrated,
and overall, Jalen Hurts played one of the best games
of the season. He was very efficient, nineteen of twenty
three for three twenty six and three touchdowns. Again, like
(23:27):
you said at the running game, still can't find his ground,
and some of it is schematic, some of it. You
don't have Makai Becton at the right guard, you don't
have a a embarrassment of riches like they did before.
Still kind of banged up on that offensive line. They're
not healthy and that hurts everything. But yeah, aj Brown
(23:52):
having four receptions for one twenty one and two touchdowns
in a critical catch late in the game that sealed
the game on the dubble move. Those are the things
you need to give yourself a chance late in the
season and to keep these guys happy. Devonte Smith has
been having good games in great games. This is one
of his best games. I think this is a career
high one eighty three in a touchdown. But you need
(24:13):
to have these guys healthy if you're gonna have any
chance late in this season. Jalen Carter being back obviously
helped this defensive ton They look like they might have
lost to Dorri Jackson for a bit of time, but
they still made big plays.
Speaker 3 (24:26):
They had a pick six.
Speaker 1 (24:27):
In this game, and that ended up being the difference
in this ball game against the Viking team that's obviously
playing Carson Wentz and you know, had some struggles with
their offensive line. But I don't know. I still don't
know what to make of this team. I'm not necessarily
ready to put them back in the top five and say, man,
(24:47):
the Eagles are back, because it just doesn't feel that
way right now. It still feels like there's some hiccups there,
some struggles that are unnecessary. There's not enough balance. Is
this sustainable? Ken Jalen hurts this sufficiently? This effectively? Every
single game? Can the defense create a pick six and
in another turnover every game? I'm not sure I think
(25:09):
they can win the next one. They play the Giants,
so they could come back and and end up splitting
this season with the Giants, But I think there's something
to be said that about, you know, their offensive struggles,
at least running the football. Jalen Hurts played a phenomenal
game and it still came down to the wire. He
played one of his best games of the season and
still came down to a really incredible throw and catch
(25:32):
for him against against the Minnesota Vikings, against their zero
blitz pressure.
Speaker 2 (25:37):
And so.
Speaker 1 (25:39):
I hope they figured it out, but it's still be seen.
You know, this, this is ever evolving league and an
ever evolving situation with Philadelphias.
Speaker 2 (25:48):
They're just different in the standpoint that, you know, not
only offensively to the they look different, but defensively. You
talked about it last week with the absence of Milton
Williams and Josh Schwatt. They let those guys walk free agency.
You know, they they signsa Darius Smith from my Detroit Lions. Unfortunately,
but that experiment didn't last very long. He just announced
(26:09):
his retirement. Now we're hearing that Brandon Graham might be
coming back. Potentially he's mulling coming out of retirement. Uh.
Do you think that's a good idea for both sides?
Speaker 1 (26:18):
Yeah, I mean, it always makes sense pass rushers. It's
a very specialty position and it's one of those things
either you have it or you don't have it. And
Brandon Graham obviously has it, obviously fits into this scheme,
and it would he means so much to that locker room.
He would come in and fit in right away with
their with their depth, you know, being depleted, you know, Nolan.
Speaker 3 (26:38):
Smith being on IR. He'd be a welcome addition.
Speaker 1 (26:42):
So I think it could work out, but I'm not
sure that's going to actually happen, or or if he'll
wait till later in the season, you know, maybe make
that playoff run, which would be which would be a
really cool story, no question about it. And the Vikings
on the other side got some decisions to make. We
got them this Thursday night in l A against the Chargers,
and they got to figure out if they're gonna play
JJ McCarthy, are they're gonna stick with Carson Wentz. And
(27:05):
like you said, Carson Wentz had some really really bad
interceptions today, the pick six where he was under Durest
and he just put the ball in Harm's way and
they rent it in for a touchdown. Our plays you
can't have without that play. You know they they may
find a way to win this game, but with that
play makes it incredible, incredibly difficult, difficult to beat the
(27:25):
defending champions, and it's gonna be incredibly difficult to beat
the Chargers and Justin Herbert. If you make those kind
of mistakes, they're gonna make you pay for it. So
I don't I'm not sure the old line is good
enough for them to put JJ McCarthy behind it again.
You know, I'm not sure he's processing as fast as
Carson Wentz is and and gonna be able to execute
(27:48):
the offense as well. Just in youth, you know, I
know people are like, oh, man, he's he's the number one,
he's the number ten pick and he just I hear you.
But he's a rookie and Carson Wentz is still a
veteran who's processing. It's the same thing when you have
a guy like Flacco come in to Cincinnati and they're like, man,
Jake Brownie was doing all this. Blacko's a veteran. He's
(28:09):
played for eighteen years. He's seen a lot of football.
He understands it. He sees it in the way the
coaches see it. He'll be able to recognize when the
safety's dropping, when they're splitting, when the rush is coming.
It's not going to be necessarily perfect. But when you
don't have a great offensive line, you give yourself the
best chance with a veteran quarterback who could at least
presumably get you to the right play and get you
(28:32):
to the right situation and make the right decision. And
in most situations, obviously he didn't today. He threw for
three hundred yards, zero touchdowns, two interceptions. So what didn't
work out like they wanted to today? But I think they're
going to stick with Carson Wentz because you just don't
want to put him, put a rookie behind this offensive
line and have this pass rush get to him.
Speaker 2 (28:55):
I don't think I like either option, honestly, Richard, either
Carson Wantz or JJ McCarthy. I really don't. I can't
believe I'm saying this. But do you think the Minnesota
Vikings are kicking themselves for not re signing Daniel Indiana
Jones this offseason?
Speaker 3 (29:11):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (29:12):
Yes, I do. I think they're kicking themselves, But I
don't think they could have afforded it. I mean, you
look at it now, and they had Sam Donald and
Indiana Jones in the fold and you're like, literally, wow, wow,
look how that worked out, and you ended up with
Carson Wentzon, JJ McCarthy. And if it doesn't get better again,
hindsight is twenty twenty.
Speaker 3 (29:30):
We can always sit back here.
Speaker 1 (29:32):
As Monday morning quarterbacks and be like, man, they should
have done this, they should have done this. But clearly
their you know, scouting department and research and what Sam
Donald was asking for, they felt like this was the
best decision they could make at the time and give
themselves a chance to win. Obviously, it looks like Sam
Donald is thriving in Seattle, one of the most efficient
(29:55):
quarterbacks in the league. His connection with Jackson Smith and
Jigba is one of the best in the li League.
And then you got Daniel Jones who's doing incredibly with
the Indianapolis Colts. But I think there's something to be
said about about sitting and waiting and being healthy and
learning from the quarterback in front of you. But we'll see,
(30:15):
because you don't want to have another situation where JJ
McCarthy gets out there, he gets banged up, his confidence
is shot, the fans stop believing in and the fans start
believing that he's not the answer, and then you lose
things going forward, you lose the confident. Right now, there's
still that mystery, there's still that era of a mystery.
Maybe he's the answer, maybe he just haven't figured it
out yet. But you put him out there three four
(30:36):
games and it doesn't go well, and they're gonna they're
gonna lose that mystery. Intri people are gonna say, hey,
he's a bust because because we're in a microwave age,
everybody's either the best or a bust every week. You know,
that's just the way age we're in. You can complain
about all you want. That's reality, no question about it.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Before we leave this game, we saw a very unique
I guess strategy against the tush push. We've seen teams
try to uh approach defending the tush push in a
number of different ways. This is a first. A guy
was lined up I guess sideways to the line and
all fours. H Richard. If you first off to our viewers,
(31:14):
if you guys have not seen this, just take a
look at it, YouTube, at Google it, do whatever. But
Minnesota Vikings use a very unique strategy lining a guy
up on all fours in front of the in front
of the center. Richard, what do you make of this approach?
Speaker 1 (31:29):
It's just team's trying to figure out an answer for it,
you know, something that can change up, something different, and
maybe somebody uses that and and builds on it and
figures out a different way to put him or a
different place to put him.
Speaker 3 (31:42):
But it's gonna It's the National Football League.
Speaker 1 (31:45):
It's not gonna just be stagnant and guys just continueing
to let them run a play and have one hundred
percent success. They're gonna do things and they're not gonna
just concede that it's just a first down when they
line up in information. They're going to try different things
to try to find an answer for And that was
just the Minnesota Vikings and Brian Flores trying something new.
Speaker 2 (32:05):
Let's talk about the New England Patriots. They continue they're
winning ways like the Patriots of old. I mean, they
take care of the lowly Tennessee Titans on the road.
But Drake May I mean, Richard, you want to talk
about efficiency. This guy looks like a stud. Twenty one
to twenty three, two hundred and twenty two yards, two touchdowns.
He's given the New England Patriots life. You gotta love
(32:27):
the job that Mike Frable's done his first year on
the job. It just seems like so so much of
a hand and glove fit for New England. Do you
think New England's back? I mean, their schedule is so
weak going forward. They played the Browns next week, then
they got a decent challenge against the Antlantic Falcons and
then a true test against Tampa Bay. But assuming they
beat Cleveland next week, they are six and two. I mean,
(32:49):
this team, after last year and the year before that
and the year before that, ever since Tom Brady left,
has been struggling to find their new identity. Do you
think they've found it in Drake May.
Speaker 3 (33:00):
Yeah. I definitely think they've found it.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
And I think they've also found what I talked about earlier,
the balance. Whemandre Stevenson had eighteen carriers for eighty eight
yards in the touchdown, They're running the ball well, Booty
had an incredible catch for a touchdown. Drake Mays pushing
the ball down the field and as accurate as anybody
in the National Football League on deep passes this year,
and it was obviously apparent today he threw for two
(33:24):
twenty two and two touchdowns twenty one to twenty three,
and the defense had four sacks. You have to play
good defense. You have to have a run game because
the run game helps your defense, gives them some rest.
Be effective on third down, be efficient in the red zone,
and that's what they've done. Drake May has grown this year,
and again they're doing everything they can. Mike Bravell was
(33:46):
putting him in positions to be successful. You knew he
would want to win this game versus the Tennessee Titans.
They let him go and literally just fired his replacement
last week because I guess they didn't want to send
his replacement in there for him to look that man
in an eye and try to I think they would
have ran to score up even more if Callahan was
still a coach. But yeah, I agree with you. They
(34:06):
have multiple games against the Miami Dolphins. I think they
got another game against the Jets this game because they're
in AFC East, it's a favorable schedule, and they've already
went into Buffalo and got to win. So when you
look at that and you're like, hey, you gotta feel
confident that you're gonna win those games Miami's kind of
imploding right now. You're not sure if Mike McDaniel is
gonna be there by the time they played the New
(34:28):
England Patriots again late in the season. New York hasn't
won a game yet, and you beat Buffalo, you could
beat the Browns.
Speaker 3 (34:37):
Obviously.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
Quentin Judikins is running the ball really well now, so
the Browns look a little bit better. But they're they're
gonna roll out a rookie quarterback, and I'm sure Mike
Frable will have a plan for him to confuse him,
to make to give him dynamic looks. They'll have to
deal with Miles Garrett in that defense and Tyson Campbell,
who had a pick six in a game this week.
So the Browns aren't just laying down for anybody. They're
(35:01):
trying to be competitive and they're going to compete in
that game. So it's not necessarily an easy win, but
I like their chances in it. I think the Patriots.
I don't know about Patriots of old. You know, they
were a dynasty that won six Super Bowls and went
to tens. So let's not get ahead of ourselves, but
they're definitely a competitive team right now.
Speaker 2 (35:18):
Let's talk about the Tennessee Titans very briefly here, Richard,
if we had a redraft, a twenty twenty five redraft,
is it cam Ward or is it Jackson Dark going
off the board first? For the Tennessee Titans.
Speaker 1 (35:30):
I think it's still cam Ward. I think they still
go with cam Ward. I think they like what they
see in him. I think that he obviously doesn't have
enough talent around him, doesn't have enough structure around him,
which is why they fired the head coach. I think again,
when you talk about these quarterbacks development, who the offensive
(35:51):
coordinator is, what the system is, How are you playing
to his strengths? What does he do well? What does
he do incredibly well? Can you put him in positions
to do that again and again and again and not
challenge him to do things that he's uncomfortable doing, or
at least teach him how to be better at those things.
And I think that's sometimes what you get in a
(36:12):
position where you see a quarterback struggle because he's thrown
into a situation where they're expecting him to be developed
and him to have the answers. And you didn't put
a you didn't put a great vetter, or you know
what I mean. Sometimes you put a great bet around him.
You like Marcus Mariota. The Washington Commanders put Marcus Mariota
in the quarterback room with with Jadeen Daniels so he
could be kind of a mentor to him. Obviously, Jayden
(36:34):
Daniels is the starter, he's the guy, but he can
help him get ready for these games, to know what
to see, to where to look, how to prepare, how
to take care of his body. You want to have
those things sometimes, and I'm not sure they have that
right now for cam Ward, and I don't. I think
next year when they go to get ahead coach that's
(36:55):
going to be at the forefront, They're gonna look for
somebody that can help develop him and help to his
strengths and really bring the best out of him as
a player.
Speaker 3 (37:03):
I don't.
Speaker 2 (37:03):
I don't.
Speaker 1 (37:03):
I like Jackson Dart. I think he's in a perfect
spot with Dabo. I think that all worked out as
he should. But I don't think this that is an
indictment against cam Ward or this season is. I think
this was a lost season for the Tennessee Titans because
there they aren't a very talented team outside of cam Ward.
But I think there is somebody else that could get
the most out of him.
Speaker 2 (37:24):
I think management should also reconsider trading aj Brown for
a pick that neted them tray Von Burks, but I
guess that's neither here nor there, Richard. Don't look now.
But the Chicago Bears are four and two, and I
guess my main question is to you, as a Detroit
Lion fan, should I be worried with them being in
the NFC North.
Speaker 3 (37:45):
I don't know if you should be worried.
Speaker 1 (37:47):
It is cool that they're they're foreign too, but they've
they've gotten some wins against some teams that that aren't
necessarily contenders. I don't think they're ready for the big
time yet, but it's good for them they've won I
think foreign a row now now. Ben Johnson is doing
a good job getting the most out of the players,
just building culture, and I think that's what they're focused on,
just building winning habits, winning tendencies, making the right play
(38:11):
making the right decisions in these in game situations. I
don't think they're looking too far in the future or
worried about the playoffs or anything like that. I think
they're taking a one game at a time and trying
to get Caleb Williams where he needs to go. He
is fifteen of twenty six today for one to seventy
two in an interception, and they had two hundred and
twenty two yards running the football. DeAndre Swift had nineteen
(38:33):
carries for one to twenty four, and I think that's
what this offensive line is built to do. Again, like
I've said, for the history of football, you look at
championship teams and most of them will tell you run
game and get defense. And then if your quarterback is
dynamic and can get the job done, that's a plus.
That's gonna take you over the top. You're gonna win
a Super Bowl. But right now they're they're developing in
(38:56):
those habits. Their defense is making plays. They had four sacks,
three in or seven in this game, and that's what
they're doing. That's how they're building their winning habits. They're
consistently doing the things necessary, building their foundation, building their fundamentals,
and that's what's allowing them to keep winning.
Speaker 2 (39:14):
As you said, the running game was active today. DeAndre
Swift nineteen carries for one to twenty four in a touchdown,
and then the rookie out of Rutgers Kyle Manungai thirteen
and eighty one in a touchdown. That's big for the
Chicago Bears team, albeit against the New Orleans Saints. Winning
is important. You're never gonna undersell a win. Winning in
the NFL, as you would say, Richard, is not easy,
(39:36):
and it's big time for Ben Johnson in this team.
I've a lot of Detroiters have animosity towards Ben Johnson,
but I'm glad to see him succeeding. Especially with what
we're seeing with Aaron Glenn in New York. You'd like
to have one of your former coordinators at least finding
some success. The one team I do not want to
see succeed is the Green Bay Packers, but they squeaked
(39:58):
out a win in it Arizona twenty seven to twenty three. Richard,
when we saw the New or the Green Bay Packers
dominate the Detroit Lions week one, I thought we were
looking at a team that was gonna walk away with
the NFC. But over the last couple of weeks, it
looks like a team that's just skating on the edge
of victory or defeat. And today they skated on that
(40:20):
edge and walked away with the w What do you
make of this Green Bay Packers team? Because to me,
they don't look all that impressive. You know, Jordan Love
only throw us for one hundred and seventy nine yards
in a touchdown. Josh Jacobs, you know, carried the load
two touchdowns but only rushed for fifty five yards. It
was the defense and Micah Parsons with three sacks that
really won them this game. What do you see in
(40:41):
Green Bay? Do you see them as a NFC contender?
They got a lot of work to do still.
Speaker 1 (40:46):
Well, And I know Green Bay Packers fans and I
know we just we're just never going to agree on
this because they will go as Jordan Love goes, because
teams will not let you beat them with Josh Jacobs.
Speaker 3 (41:00):
They will not.
Speaker 1 (41:00):
They will If that's your best then you're saying your
best player, and I would agree with you. I think
their best bet is when Josh Jacobs gets going, everything
else opens up.
Speaker 3 (41:08):
They're a really good offense.
Speaker 1 (41:10):
But when Josh Jacobs gets stopped, when teams stack the
box and find a way to stop Jacobs, can Jordan
Love beat you?
Speaker 3 (41:18):
And if that's what.
Speaker 1 (41:18):
Teams are doing, then is Jordan Love the guy, you
know what I mean, Because if they're gonna say, hey,
we're gonna make him play quarterback and beat us like that,
and we're gonna say, hey, we don't think he can
do it, then that brings up more questions and answers.
But that's what teams are gonna do. And if he
can answer the bell. And obviously they need to get
(41:39):
more healthy at receiver. I think Christian Watson is coming back.
They need to get Jaydon Reed back. But that's what
it's gonna come down to. Their defense is gonna be solid.
They're gonna be They've been in position to win just
about every game. The Browns game, I thought they were
in position to win that game. I thought their defense
played well. They didn't give up a touchdown and two
(42:00):
the interception from Jordan Love, and then they were in
scoring position. They scored a touchdown, ended up winning that game.
But the same thing was true here. You know, I
thought Jordan Love struggled a little bit and then they
some plays were made. You know, he pushed the ball
down the field a little bit, hit Matthew Golden on
a deep pass, and then it starts to open up.
Josh Jacobs once they got in the red zone. It
(42:21):
was a critical situation. They hinded it off to Josh Jacobs.
He sees that end zone, he gets within the goal line,
it's he's gonna find a way to get in there.
And that's what he did. He's a great player. Their
defense had six sacks today. That was the big thing.
Michael Parsons had never, never in his career had a
three sack game. He did today. He did today because
(42:42):
they had to have it. And he sacked Jacoby Brissett
three times in this game where Sean Gary had won.
And that's what it took. That's what it took. Kway
Walker had a sack and a half in this game.
Their defense was making plays and they were giving their
team a chance. But I don't think it should be
this hard versus the Arizona Cardinals. Now, the Arizona Cardinals
could definitely have a different a different record. They they
(43:04):
lost multiple games at the wire, last second field goals.
At least two of those games. This game came down
to the wire. So they've been playing good football. You
got to give Josh Gannon a lot of credit for
the way they've been battling there Without Kyler Murray. They're
without their star running back, and I think that should
be applauded. You know, they're they're still figuring it out
(43:27):
with with Marvin Harrison Junior. He you know, he's had
up and down games and he's figured it out. There
was some PI calls he drew today and made some
cool catches, but they were but overall they went against
a backup quarterback and it came down to the wire,
and so I think there's something to be said about
the quarterback position. And I know people are like, man,
(43:48):
you're so hard on him, But that's the point. That's
what you're supposed to be when you It would be
different if these quarterbacks were on rookie deals. When you're
on a rookie deal, you get the benefit of the doubt.
That's just how it goals. You get the benefit of doubt,
you get less criticism, you get the excuses, hey, he's
a rookie, he's learning.
Speaker 3 (44:06):
Once you're not on that rookie.
Speaker 1 (44:07):
Deal and you're one of the highest paid players in
the National Football League, you get criticism. I'm sorry, I'm
not gonna you're not gonna say, hey, man, this guy's
making fifty five million dollars. They don't have to be elite,
they don't have to be perfect, Like give him a break,
Like what then? What do we say then? What do
you want us to say? Man, they don't need Jordan
Love to play better. He can just keep doing like this.
(44:28):
It's up to everybody else to play better and to
lift him up. And Josh Jacob's got to do everything.
So like they need both. But if Josh Jacobs doesn't
get going, and you're a fifty five million dollar quarterback,
then it should be okay to depend on you to
win us this game. And I thought he made some
plays today to help win this game, so I'll give
(44:49):
him credit. But that's what it's gonna come down to
on whether this team gets to a super Bowl, wins
in the playoffs or if they don't, because teams are
gonna make him play left handed. They're not gonna let
him beat them with Josh Jacobs running the football, And
it won't be any fault of Josh Jacobs. He'll do
everything he can, but they're gonna stack the Box's gonna
be eight man boxes. They're gonna man these receivers. And
(45:09):
if they win and Jordan Love has a good game.
The Green Bay Packers will win, no question about it.
I believe they will win, and they are talented enough
to do it, especially when they're receiving Core gets healthy.
Speaker 2 (45:20):
Well on the opposit side of the field, oppositide of
the ball. Rather, Michaeh. Parsons flat out won them this game,
clutch moments, crucial moments late in the game, getting sacks,
taking care of the Arizona Cardinals, but his former team,
the Dallas Cowboys, getting impressive win at home, a dominating win. Richard,
(45:44):
seven weeks into the season, Now, how do you analyze
this trade? Because the Dallas Cowboys look competitive, they gained
a bunch of assets and cap space with dealing Michaeh Parsons.
Do you view this still as the wrong move seven
than weeks into the season.
Speaker 3 (46:02):
Yeah, I don't.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
I don't think you ever can view it as a
as a great move. I think I think the Dallas
Cowboys are in a great position offensively. I think they
to steal George Pickens from the Pittsburgh Steelers the way
they did and for him to blossom into the kind
of receiver that everybody thought he'd be coming out of Georgia.
It's really cool to see. And now Ceedee Lamb is
(46:23):
back and they look like an explosive duel today. The
Cowboys scored forty four today and and Dak Prescott if
they were if they had a better record, Dak Prescott
has an incredible argument to be an MVP conversation Offensive
Player of the Year conversation. He has played phenomenal football
(46:46):
this season and with or without Ceedee Lamb in the lineup,
and for him to get his star receiver back and
continue to grow and continue to play that way and
continue to put up points. And now his defense is
starting to show up and get some stops and give
it more possessions and it's starting to roll. Javonte Williams
is continuing to look like his old self and run
(47:06):
the football with aggressiveness and violence. I'd say both teams
feel comfortable right now. Both teams feel comfortable about how
it went. But the Packers are for one and one.
They're in position to continue to win and maybe potentially
chase a one seed in the NFC. And I'm not
(47:28):
sure the Cowboys are especially defensively, but I think you
would want Michael Parsons on your team if you're Dallas Cowboys,
and I don't think the Packers. I think the Packers
will be a worse team if they didn't have them.
I don't think the Packers will be four to one
and one if they didn't have Michael Parsons. So again,
I still feel like they won this trade. You won't
know what the Cowboys got from Michael Parsons until the draft.
(47:48):
They got draft picks, So how will those draft picks
pan out? How do they affect winning in the future.
We'll see, But right now, Michael Parsons is making an
immediate impact for the Green Bay Packers and helping them
win real National Football League games like he did today
had three sacks, So I think both sides are content
for now.
Speaker 2 (48:07):
Richard, we got to talk real quick before we wrap
about a coach that's on the hot seat. Mike McDaniel
goes on the road against Cleveland Brown's a team you
think the Miami Dolphins and a coach that desperately needs
a win would show up for They did not, did
not at all. They took a drumming thirty one to
six against the Cleveland Browns. Richard, how hot is this
(48:30):
hot seat? How much longer does this last? In Miami
with Mike McDaniel. I'm not sure. I'm not sure because
again this is and people will call me the quarterback
hater or whatever. I'm not a quarterback hater, but I'm accountability.
I'm accountability. They they're paying to a tung of i
Looa fifty three million dollars a year. They're not paying
Josh McDaniel, I mean, Mike McDaniel fifty three million dollars.
Speaker 1 (48:54):
They're paying to a tongue of i Loa. So tungue
of Iloa has head back to back three interceptions. That
is unacceptable. That's not acceptable in any any respect for
any position anybody. So of course you got to give
Mike McDaniel, he's the head coach, he's the offensive guru.
All you got to give him some some criticism. But
(49:14):
the criticism also goes to the player. And for you
to go into the media and speak the way you
did last week to a tongue of bay loewe and
I know I've harped on this enough, but and continue
to play like this. Mike McDaniel goes out there in
this press conference and said, if if you're negatively affecting
the football team, routinely. I don't have a choice but
to assess a different player. And we're gonna find out
(49:37):
who and what we're made of. And he's speaking directly
to to a tongue vailua. I'm sure he's speaking to
other players, but he's speaking to the quarterback. And he
replaced them in the game with quentin Ewers. And and
what do they could you imagine the world where they
they they start Quinny Quinny. His name has given me
(49:57):
quin Ewers, quinn Ewers, quinn eris quinn Ewers quinn owers
next week, I I what does that do for to
a tongue of I Loa's career? What does that do
for the league? And even if you fired Mike McDaniel,
you still have to a tongue of ila. And you
have an injured Tyreek Hill, who's a big cap hit
(50:21):
you you have you still have issues. Devin A. Chain
is is is playing really well. Thirteen carries for eighty
two yards. He busts some big ones today. But you
can't you can't pauls. Paul He's got some big ones.
That's crazy, But you can't. You can't just depend on
that if you don't have a pass game. Then then
you can't open up the run game. So you got
(50:43):
Jalen Waddell, who's who's out there is a big speed,
big threat and all this stuff. But the quarterback has
absolutely no confidence. He's thrown over ten interceptions on He's
thrown ten interceptions on the season. I don't know who's
the problem and who's the answer, because you've seen success.
Speaker 3 (51:01):
From both of them.
Speaker 1 (51:02):
But right now, it's unacceptable play from the quarterback, and
it's unacceptable play from the team overall. They're struggling. The
Browns ran the ball well on them, they threw the
ball well on them. They're going against a rookie quarterback
Dylan Gabriel thirteen for eighteen for one to sixteen, nothing crazy,
but Judkins had twenty five carries for eighty four yards
and three touchdowns. And they just look like a better
(51:24):
team than you. And obviously they have Miles Garrett. They're
a tough outfit. On defense. I think they're a good defense,
and obviously the record doesn't show what they really are.
They're two and five, but they still have talent on defense.
And we talked about Diyson Campbell and his pick six
in this game, but they also have ward. On the
other side, they have some players on defense that could
(51:46):
get the job done and play at a high level.
But this is unacceptable play from the quarterback. You cannot
be above criticism making fift three million dollars.
Speaker 3 (51:55):
I'm sorry, I'm sorry.
Speaker 1 (51:56):
There's too many quarterbacks making fifty million dollars that guys
are making excuses for. With great pay comes great responsibility
and great accountability and great criticism.
Speaker 3 (52:07):
Is it fair?
Speaker 2 (52:07):
No?
Speaker 1 (52:08):
But is it fair? You're making fifty three million dollars.
We'll see you know, you getting paid for this job
and this comes with the job. So a quarterback that's
throwing six interceptions in two weeks, I mean he's part
of the problem.
Speaker 2 (52:23):
Seeing as how the Indianapolis Colts have done it, the
Minnesota Vikings have done it. I'm not paying a guy
that I'm unsure of fifty plus million dollars. I'm gonna
go and look for a guy that hasn't had success
elsewhere and pay him far less and see if I
can rejuvenate his career. Because this Miami Dolphins team is
going nowhere fast and I don't know how long this
(52:44):
deal is for. To a tongue of ailoa, Richard. But Richard,
it's not looking like it's gonna end well in Miami
for Mike McDaniel. Because of it all odds.
Speaker 1 (52:55):
And lines coming from our partners at hard Rock Bet.
We've got two Monday night football game games tomorrow, the
Seahawks versus the Titans and the Lions versus the Buccaneers.
Speaker 2 (53:05):
The Seahawks are favored by three against Houston Texans. You
got the Seahawks covering, Richard.
Speaker 3 (53:10):
No question about it, Mitchell.
Speaker 1 (53:12):
They got js in, one of the best receivers in
the National Football League, Sam Darnold playing his best football.
Speaker 3 (53:17):
K nine, and then they got a d line full
of hunters. They're gonna cover.
Speaker 2 (53:22):
My main question is, Richard, can they win at home?
Speaker 1 (53:27):
Well, they got to deal with the noise. They got
to deal with it. But Mitchell, it's no time like
the president.
Speaker 2 (53:33):
Fair enough, And how about this, I'll be in Ford Field.
The Detroit Lions are favored by six points against Tampa Bay.
Speaker 3 (53:41):
Who do you like?
Speaker 2 (53:41):
You like the Lions to cover? Come on, give me
some love here, Richard. I want to give him some love.
Speaker 1 (53:46):
But Mitchell, that was a struggle fest against the Kansas
City Chiefs and the Buccaneers are number one on in
my power ranks. I can't have them being minus six
in the game, Mitchell. I know they're gonna make it
a game. I expect them to potentially win this game.
With Mike Evans healthy now back in the lineup, a
Mecca Buca questionable, maybe even Chris Godwin. Mitchell, it's been
(54:08):
a while. Mike Evans is gonna come back with a vengeance.
Speaker 2 (54:12):
I love that they're number one of your power ranks
because guess what, the Detroit Lions beating your number one
power rank team might earn them the shot back at
being number one. I guess we'll see.
Speaker 3 (54:23):
We'll see.
Speaker 2 (54:25):
