Speaker 1 (00:01):
All right, Welcome to Sharper Square, presented by a hard
rock bet We are part of the Volume podcast Network.
This is the betting show that makes the squar sharper
and makes the wise guys pay attention. I am Chad Millman.
I am joined by my co host, my bff, my companion,
my compadre, professional better Simon Hunter. Hello, So I'm in Chad.
(00:26):
Oh boy, listen, I know you're feeling it rough, rough
beat for the Cardinals, which you were heavily invested in.
I'm out a survivor because I had the Rams in
one pool and the Cardinals in another. We're going to
dig into all of it. We had a lot of
consternation and debate on this morning's show, accusations of me
(00:50):
being immature, being nutless. You were not very nice to me.
I'm going to chuck that up to you just being
upset about going to see the Phillies last night. The
games we discussed the most this week, but especially today,
were betting on the Broncos against the Eagles, betting on
the Saints against the Giants, betting on the Panthers against
(01:13):
the Dolphins, betting on the Commanders against the Chargers, and
betting on the Jets against Dallas. All five of those
teams were down double figures in four of those cases,
down multiple touchdowns at some point. Today, four of them
came back to not only cover, but win. None of
(01:36):
them were the New York Jets, and only one of
them was a team that we put in our final five. Unfortunately,
we did put the Jets in our final five. We
will get to our early leans and entire review of
how we did on all of our picks and your
live comments from the chat in a sec. In case
(01:59):
you missed it, this small, very quick announcement. We've run
a totally free to play NFL Pick Them contest for
a few years. In the previous iteration of this show,
it's coming back, folks.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
I don't believe it. It just continuous.
Speaker 1 (02:16):
Fine, It's coming back. Thanks to our beloved sponsor, hard
Rock Bet, we can now announce the return of the contest.
All new, totally free, sharper Square NFL Pick Them Contest
will launch very soon. I'm not giving the exact date yet,
we need to figure out some final logistics before we
can officially announce. Thanks for the patient stand by all right. Reminder,
(02:39):
we had the Rams on Thursday night, so that's already
an out. We were going in oh, one to one today,
we could be anything from one and four to four
and one. Instead, right now we are two and two.
We have the Jags plus three and a half tomorrow morning,
I mean tomorrow night, remaining. Boy, I wish I had
been nutless and not put the Jags in the final five,
(03:00):
because man, we probably would have had one of the
teams we left out and we'd be sitting here three
and two and really happy. Oh, Simon, first game, We're
going to spend two minutes on this. Houston Texans Baltimore Ravens.
It was three and a half in the contest. It
could have been thirty seven and a half and we
(03:21):
still might have won this game. Closed it Houston minus
two and a half. Look, anything you want to say
about this game, anything before I ramble on, because I
feel like we kind of nailed this one. You had
it at Simon says, at three and a half earlier
early in the week, and it was no mystery.
Speaker 2 (03:40):
I know.
Speaker 3 (03:40):
I wish I could be happier. Simon says too. And
oh but I'm legit dead inside. This is going to
be a painful podcast.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Well, let's talk about it right now, because I don't
like otherwise, You're just going to be, you know, challenging
to communicate with. And people are going to wonder why.
People are going to wonder why.
Speaker 2 (04:00):
I wonder why I'm dead right now?
Speaker 1 (04:01):
Yeah, explain because the.
Speaker 2 (04:03):
Fix was in.
Speaker 3 (04:04):
I can't believe what I just watched that Cardinals game.
I don't even know if I can. I don't know
if I can talk about it yet, because it's just
ridiculous everything about that game between them saying he dropped
the ball before it crossed the end the end zone.
The running back for the Cardinals, he dropped the ball
into the end zone and they said it wasn't a touchdown,
and then they basically picked off cam Ward and they
(04:27):
said the guy possessed the ball and made a football
move in front of the ball and they recovered it
for a touchdown. Tennessee, all these things happened, and we
lost our survival pool, which I love survival pools, and yeah,
just insane about to be up.
Speaker 2 (04:42):
What was it it was gonna I think it was
twenty one to six.
Speaker 3 (04:44):
They're gonna score that touchdown, so I've been twenty eight
to six with like ten minutes to go, and yeah,
Kyler Murray is a loser. Gannon's a loser. That's a
loser organization, Cardinal fans. I feel so bad for you guys,
just losers, top to up the bottom, embarrassing organization. Game Ward,
that was awesome for you, But my god, just losers, Cardinals, losers.
(05:10):
Just I can't believe the organization.
Speaker 2 (05:12):
Kyler.
Speaker 3 (05:13):
I would, I would literally release him today. Just guy
puts up twenty one points and then just looks disinterested
for a whole second half. And he's just the worst.
Speaker 2 (05:23):
They're just the worst. So yeah, I'm hurting right now.
Speaker 1 (05:28):
It's not fair.
Speaker 2 (05:29):
It's not fair.
Speaker 1 (05:31):
The Titans have been a conundrum for us for the
past year and now five weeks, where we've either avoided them,
occasionally bet them, but generally try to avoid them. We
knew the tide was going to turn at some point,
we really didn't think it was going to turn this week.
(05:54):
Who knows if it's because Callahan stopped calling the plays.
Who knows if it's because they went into Arizona, which
leaves a gaping hole in any lead that is bigger
than the Grand Canyon. And we know better than to
ever bet on Kyler as a favorite. We thought we
were a little bit safe betting on Kyler in Survivor
(06:16):
as a big favorite. I know you're feeling it for
reasons that have to do with betting and not just
on Survivor, but yeah, like I had turned that game off,
like you know, I had it in the four box,
and then I turned off that one. I turned off Cincinnati.
I left it on Seattle, which was amazing, and I
left it on obviously the Commanders, which was amazing. All
(06:39):
of a sudden, I'm going into my phone and both
of those games, the Bengals and the Titans have made
it a game, crazy, crazy day of football for them.
Speaker 3 (06:51):
Cardinals organization, you are losers. Fold don't exist anymore.
Speaker 2 (06:56):
Tomorrow. I hope I wake up tomorrow.
Speaker 3 (06:57):
They said, yep, thirty one teams NFL Arizona literally folded overnight.
Speaker 2 (07:02):
Good, let it be done.
Speaker 1 (07:04):
I can't wait till we get our new segment, Who's
the Hero of the Week and who's the go to
the week. I feel like I know exactly who you're
going to go with. Houston, by the way, just to
put a bow on it, because there's really not that
much to say, there was one driver CJ. Stroud, was scrambling.
It looked literally like he was taking a Sunday stroll.
I think he kept waiting for someone to come hit him.
(07:26):
No one ever did. He just sort of casually got
bumped out of bounds. This was in the first half.
They had seventeen points midway through the second quarter, more
than the average all year, twenty four to three in
the first half. I think the final score was forty
four to ten, So, you know, good for us, good
for the Texans. It was nice to get an easy
win because the rest of the games were super, super challenging.
(07:51):
The New York Jets were plus two and a half
against the Dallas Cowboys. There was a massive swing from
when we recorded the show this morning and did it
when I was in College Park too. When I landed
back in Connecticut at noon, and all of a sudden,
the Jets had gone from one and a half point
underdogs to one and a half point favorites. That was
(08:12):
because four of the five Dallas linemen offensive Laman were
announced is being out and Cavante Turpin was out and
Malie Cooker was out. So all of a sudden, all
this money swung and it turns out it just didn't
matter because the Jets are gonna Jet. I mean that
was eerily, eerily similar to last week. Freakishly similar to
(08:34):
last week.
Speaker 3 (08:36):
Yeah, but life bet and bad teams. They're a terrible team.
I think it's ten to three. It was a b
Reese Hall someone, I think it was. He's carrying the
ball for first down again, ten to.
Speaker 1 (08:48):
Three inside the ten yard line.
Speaker 3 (08:50):
Yeah, with like three minutes to go, probably four minutes
ago in the half, fumbles, Dak gets the ball. I
think seven plays a minute thirty off, the scores a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (09:02):
Just get the ball.
Speaker 1 (09:03):
It's like sack sack, they get, they go, they go
three plays, two yards.
Speaker 3 (09:07):
Punt, Yeah, that gets the ball back. Was it a
runner of pass and they score a touchdown? Like the
next play.
Speaker 1 (09:13):
They had a sixty eight yard draw one one mistackle
draw by Javonte Williams and then they score on the
next play to a wide open Jason Ferguson. The guy
had four catches and two touchdowns in the first half. Like,
it was astonishing. How pathetic they.
Speaker 3 (09:33):
Are, Yeah, I mean not as pathetic as Michael Bidwell,
the principal owner of the Arizona Cardinals. Just fold buddy.
If you hear this fold up shop, it's over. But yeah,
that was a horrible experience. Like you said, we're dead
at half, Like when when you look at the score,
I think it.
Speaker 2 (09:51):
Was from ten to three to three, twenty three to three. Yeah,
we're dead.
Speaker 3 (09:56):
So yeah, life betting bad teams at that At that
I'm just like me and chat are just overthinking of
cooking ourselves. That number got the minus two and a
half the Jets before kick, like just insane. The amount
of steam came in on the Jets and yeah, like
you said, the Jets are gonna Jets, that game easily
could have won, was in their grasp.
Speaker 2 (10:17):
They totally fell apart.
Speaker 3 (10:18):
DA played well enough and yeah, like we said, they're
down four starters on the offensive line, didn't matter. Put
up thirty seven points.
Speaker 1 (10:25):
I think didn't even get any pressure on Death like
he he was so good against this Jets defense. And
the Jets did the same exact thing. It was like
they're down ten three. They fumbled the ball literally racing
for the goal line. Brest Hall had something like eighty
one yards on nine carries at the time of that fumble.
(10:48):
Every single drive. They were killing themselves on penalties. They
had ten penalties in the game. They had seven penalties
in the first half. Every single time they made a
good play, it went back and they made it had
a penalty. You watch Aaron Glenn and he gets so
much praise from the announcers. This isn't how Aaron Glenn coaches.
This isn't how Aaron Glenn teaches football. At some point,
(11:11):
isn't it like we keep saying the same thing every week?
They keep making the same mistakes every week. Mark Shriff
Mark Schalare wasn't calling that game. He was calling the
Panthers game, which we're going to talk about. But at
some point he says, you've got to master the stuff
that takes no talent, And the Jets can't even master
(11:31):
the stuff that takes no talent, which is literally standing
still before the ball is snapped. That's it.
Speaker 3 (11:38):
Oh yeah, they're just they're terrible like that whole game,
Like you said, tons of penalties, They're just it's I
feel bad for when you're totally lost, if you don't
have a coach or a quarterback. You know, Justin Fields
does his best, Like those fumbles aren't on him. But
those running backs are the ones that keep killing them here.
But you know, at the same time, when it's third
and nine and the game matters, you don't feel confident
(11:59):
when Justin dropped.
Speaker 2 (12:00):
So yeah, tough, tough bet tough losses.
Speaker 1 (12:03):
He continues to be incredibly inaccurate.
Speaker 2 (12:05):
You just can't.
Speaker 1 (12:06):
He cannot convert on a play that is outside the numbers.
Speaker 2 (12:11):
No, but then again, you'll have other players where you're like,
you're you're spectacular. So it's tough with him. He's just
so inconsistent.
Speaker 1 (12:18):
The Jets o line is kind of the one that
looked like it was missing eighty percent of the starters.
The Cowboys had five sacks. Do you have any sacks
the Cowboys had the entire year before the game started,
two five. They doubled their number in a single game.
(12:41):
This was the best. This was the best. It was
like fourth and a half yard at midfield for the Jets,
and they had been slicing through the Cowboys defense. They
went for it. Instead of just running it straight ahead,
they called a rollout. Two Cowboys shot both the gaps
on either side of the center basically met at Justin
(13:04):
Field's bat at the ball that he could barely get
to the line of scrimmage for an incomplete throw. It
was an astonishing display of incompetence, maybe beaten today only by.
Speaker 2 (13:21):
Who Arizona Cardinals formerly.
Speaker 1 (13:24):
Or Arizona Cardinals. Maybe maybe they took it. They took
the victory right away from the New York Jets. All right,
So the one game we did put in that we
did win. Of the teams that came back from double
digit leads deficits, I mean, it's our last one in
(13:50):
I'm not taking credit for it, but I can't. All
I can say is that when it came down to
the Broncos or the Commanders today, I said, right when
I was about to say Commanders, I said, I keep
feeling Right when I was about to say Broncos, ike,
I said, I keep feeling Commanders. So we went with it,
(14:10):
and I'm not gonna lie. Like, midway through the second quarter,
I'm like, oh, we could be just sitting here and
so comfortable. I could be relaxing, recuperating from my long parents' weekend. Instead,
I got to sweat this team. And look, it did
not look good in those first twenty minutes of football
(14:30):
for the Washington Commanders.
Speaker 3 (14:33):
No, they got lucky. Let's let's be honest again, That's
that's how it is. Unlucky lucky they had. The turning
point of the game was a punt from there on
end zone. Lad McConkie receives this said punt takes it
back fifty yards for a touchdown. Unfortunately for him is
the end. Whoever was try to block the punt hit
the guy's plant leg, which I think is fifteen yard penalty. Yeah,
(14:57):
gives gives them a first down Washington. And like we say,
it's just all momentum rhythm. Like Daniels was in a
rhythm for the first like you said, first twenty minutes.
I think he was three of seven for like seven yards, Yeah,
like something insanely like that. And you saw once you
pushed the ball downfield, got rid of the nerves, which
(15:18):
is that's what makes some specials. Putting the ball downfield
and using his legs. Legs weren't really there for him,
right the brace. You saw it hampered him a little bit.
So yeah, I'm with you for a couple of minutes there.
It's like, why did we not just take Denver? Why
didn't we not just take the Saints. We've taken a
quarterback wasn't played in two weeks with a giant knee brace.
That's down ten to nothing. But like we talked about
(15:40):
the time the Chargers, it's the injury bug, like it
hits teams and it just keeps hitting them throughout the game.
They just kept dropping guys. It's crazy, like how bad
their luck is. And you know, by the third quarter
they're already down three more defensive players and their guard.
Speaker 2 (16:01):
So it's like, you.
Speaker 3 (16:02):
Know, Herbert, he made plays like every time he did
make one penalty. By the backups that are in the
game and everything, we're right for the Commanders. We talked
this week, you know, like you said, Simon says. My
whole view of it was these are the type of
games you take positions on because they're long term winners.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Just like the Jets. People are gonna shit on us.
It's no different.
Speaker 3 (16:25):
They're playing a number in a spot against a team
that's overvalued by public perception.
Speaker 2 (16:31):
You can see how it can go. We can easily
have two Jets games.
Speaker 1 (16:34):
Today, especially the two and a half.
Speaker 3 (16:37):
Yeah, so that's why I like, you know, twenty seven
to ten, Did the Commanders really beat them that bad?
Speaker 2 (16:43):
No?
Speaker 3 (16:44):
But the public is going to react to this now,
totally be out on the Chargers team, and yep, we'll
see what's coming up this week. But yeah, this was
a game I'm so happy we covered. Obviously the fans too,
but yeah, we were in the same chad that taking
out Denver, taking out the Saints. I love them all.
(17:05):
I didn't mind all three of them, you know. The
only one I regret is I wasn't working for the Saints.
But people understand, I've been betting this thing for seven
days and it's Spencer Rattler, And like I said, you're betting.
Speaker 2 (17:20):
Well, everyone else.
Speaker 3 (17:20):
Is in the world you talk to in my little
world is telling me they're betting as well, and it's like, shit,
is it really this easy?
Speaker 1 (17:27):
Right? So what am I missing?
Speaker 2 (17:28):
Easy?
Speaker 3 (17:28):
So yeah, that was one we definitely overthought in the morning.
But yeah, I'm just really happy they both came through
because I know how many people, especially fans reached out
and bet those including Denver, which everyone bet as well.
Speaker 1 (17:40):
Yeah. So what was interesting about the Commanders to me was,
like you said, Jaden Daniels did not look right, they
did it. They actually had a segment where they showed
him changing his cleats. He was wearing a new set
of kleats and they changed the cleats before that drive
after the fumble, which to me was the key playing
We're gonna I want to dive into that a little
bit deeper later in the show. But after that thumb,
(18:05):
after that fumble, you know they're down ten to nothing.
And Jaden Daniels on the first three plays of that drive,
he gets sacked. There's a an incompletion and a holding penalty,
so it's third and sixteen and all of a sudden,
he just like he throws a dart down the middle
(18:25):
of the field right up. The scene was like the
exact throw. You need to get yourself in rhythm, right,
And they talked about it, like even on the broadcast.
I forgot who the announcers were, but on the broadcast
they talked about how you just need to see one
go in, right, And Jade and Daniels had talked about
just needing to see one go in. I think he
saw that one go in. And after that it was
(18:47):
like again and again and again. They drove down the
field for the touchdown. Then they get the recovery, they
get the the bounce back after the penalty. He throws
that beautiful ball to Luke McCaffrey and then another one
to Deebo Samuel. They get the field goal, all of
a sudden it's tied. I gotta tell you, like this,
(19:09):
Jacorey Klusky, Crossky Merrick, guy him and Jayden Daniels. What
was interesting to me is it looks like someone is
right about to tackle and looks like out of a cartoon,
someone is about to grab these guys and all of
a sudden they're gone, like they're just grasping it air.
And both of them on that opening drive of the
(19:30):
second half where he had like forty four yards in
a touchdown on the opening the drive, Jacory did they
just look so fast It's amazing to me. And that
next series was the one for the Chargers where Trey Pipkins,
the right tackle who had gone out, came back in
Justin Herbert makes two great throws to McConkie and nikeenan Allen.
(19:52):
Both get called back because of penalties on Trey Pickpinn's
and that that was it like, even with the penalty,
even with the fumble by Crosskey Merit in the middle
in the in the fourth quarter, you didn't get the
feeling like the Chargers had enough gas to get back
in the game.
Speaker 3 (20:10):
Everything was going wrong, like you said, just Herbert kept
making plays and stupid penalties and then you know, even
on his pick, it was really stupid. But it's just
once again bad luck pressure that probably wouldn't be facing
if he had some bodies. But even watching Washington, the
fear for me in this game was they their corners
are some of the slowest on football. Like, if you
dive in the numbers, they grate out as incredibly slow
(20:33):
in coverage, and you saw that, like, yeah, there's multiple
times that even kep Allen streaking just wide open, breaking
off his routes where you know, they had their opportunities.
Speaker 2 (20:44):
But we try not to read too much into it.
Trust the number, trust the spot.
Speaker 3 (20:48):
And yeah, this was uh, I really really, like you said,
ugly game to start, but people saw why we wanted
to take it.
Speaker 2 (20:55):
Just the Chargers are not the same team they were
three weeks ago.
Speaker 3 (20:59):
It's just a a batter team just trying to survive
right now.
Speaker 1 (21:02):
Well, look, you saw at some point in the second
quarter the rush just started getting to destin Herbert think
five times. Yeah, they were in his grill constantly. It's
like they started to bringing extra pressure. They knew where
to bring the pressure. The Chargers just had no chance
to feel bad because we've seen this game many many
times for the Chargers. Okay, two and two. I think
(21:28):
the best we would have been today right now would
be three and two, because I don't think either of
us we're going to tuck ourselves out of betting the
New York Jets at plus two and a half. It
was our brass balls either way we were betting it.
It's just a question of would we have replaced the
Jags or with one of these games, if we hadn't
(21:52):
replaced the Commanders and the Broncos, like somehow we were
going to end up with two losses today. So I
know we can say we were going to be four
and one, but I think we really were going to
be either three and two right now or two and two.
Agree or disagree?
Speaker 3 (22:06):
Yeah, no, we would have been three and two. The
reason I'm not that I need you put the Jags in.
It's like, you know, my view of it was that
was your baby, Like if you had say you had
loved Denver and you were pounding the table for him.
Obviously i'd've been like, Okay, well go Denver, but you
didn't have that this week. Now the only real team
was the Jag So I still like it. The only
thing I'm worried about now is like literally all my
(22:28):
early reads came through today, Like I think I went
eleven and two. My personal bets against the spread, and
obviously I'm with you on the Jags.
Speaker 2 (22:37):
I hope it's gonna come through. My initial read was
the Chief, so I'm on it.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
I believe in the Jags, believe in the number. I
still think we got a good number. The Lands right
on three, so I'm still confident we go three and two.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Well, let's be confident together. We left out Denver. Denver
closed it four and a half. We got it. I
think we got a loan. Nervous about it today because
it got down to three and a half and then
got that back up to four and a half. And
so to me, that was sort of not believing in
bon Nicks, being a little bit nervous about the late
money coming in, not thinking it was just public money
(23:12):
at least that's the indication I got, and.
Speaker 2 (23:14):
So just a bon Nicks then, yeah, it was I
love the spot. I loved the number.
Speaker 3 (23:19):
We've been talking about faiding this Eagles team that just
something's not right with them. Offensively, They're a little over
value in the market. And yeah, another game where I
think they, like you said, double digit they're seventeen to three.
Speaker 2 (23:30):
Yeah in the fourth quarter.
Speaker 1 (23:32):
Yeah, in their history, in their history, By the way,
I think there was a stat that Denver Broncos in
their history went down four touchdown, two touchdowns to start
the fourth quarter, one and one hundred and twenty one.
Speaker 3 (23:47):
It's a wonky day. I know, it's it's just a
wild day. And that's why I like, again, wish we
are three and two, Senior two and two. I'm still
still happy with that. Just just keep surviving.
Speaker 1 (23:57):
By the way, I don't want to gloss over this
one thing with the guess who is zero to twenty
four when playing a team that scores twenty one points
or more?
Speaker 2 (24:06):
Justin fields, justin.
Speaker 1 (24:07):
Fields we had talked. I felt like this was the
Eagles game where everything that had been going their way
and masking all of the issues they've had finally sort
of came to roost against a Broncos defense that really
kept this team in the game the entire game right
because like starting the second half with a wheel route
(24:31):
touchdown to Saquon, it looked like the Eagles were just
going to start rolling because they had played okay in
the first half, but all of the luck that had
gone their way completely evaporate evaporator, and that was especially
true in the very end, I thought in the second half,
(24:52):
they went five plays after the touchdown, five plays twenty
three yards punt, three plays minus a eleven yards punt,
three plays minus six yards punt, three plays two yards punt.
Peyton put bon Nicks in fantastic positions like easy throws,
(25:15):
not risky throws, mostly short throws, long drives, six plays
seventy two yards, eleven plays fifty yards. They kind of
dinked and dunked, but it helped that the Eagles kept
committing penalties and the luck definitely caught up to the Broncos.
The Eagles had a great call to complete a long
(25:37):
pass downfield to DeVante Smith called back for a legal
shift fifteen total yards of offense in the fourth quarter,
a clear intentional grounding that wasn't called on Bonnicks to
keep a drop alive. Like it all went bad for
the Eagles in that fourth quarter.
Speaker 3 (25:54):
Yeah, no, that was a bad game. Painful to watch
too as an Eagles fan. But something's just not right
with I think he had six carries for thirty yards,
and it's like, there's no excuse if you're up seventy
seventeen to three heading into the fourth quarter and he
only has six carries. So yeah, injuries to the offensive line,
and you know, I thought her it's actually played pretty well.
(26:15):
Obviously disappeared in the second half, but like you just
read the stats, like they just were not in sync,
couldn't get in a rhythm, and they had dumb penalties.
Speaker 2 (26:23):
So Eagles media will probably be wearried.
Speaker 3 (26:26):
As a fan, don't care it's October fifth, Okay, they
lost to Denver if it was December fifteenth. In our
offense is still putting up a pedestrian seventeen points at
home against that Denver defense, which they were passing the
ball at will against them to start the game. There'll
be major issues. But I think you know the OC,
(26:49):
if this continues, he'll be fired. It's a guy that
has no he's got nothing to back him. He's he's
a friend of the head coach that took a stand,
gave him a good job, and you know, there again
it's not working right now, but I still think it's
too early. So yeah, sucks still lose that game, but
honestly more excited about my Cowboys divisional bet, which was
(27:09):
dead and now has just a hint of life because
the Eagles they could have some serious problems going forward
where Dallas they have an easier schedule, they can win
some of these ugly games like they have, so I would,
says an Eagles fans, probably the only really worry right now,
But overall, I think, you know, once they get Saquon right,
that offensive line right, they'll be fine come late December.
Speaker 1 (27:31):
Yeah, it's a look. The Eagles heading into the day
were twenty and one in their past twenty one games,
including the playoffs. They are a team that will figure
it out. They've got all the pieces. There's clearly something
that clicking right now with the offense, and it caught
up to them today and now they can sort of
they have to walk away. They have to be intellectually
honest about what's been happening, and they can't sort of
(27:53):
rely on, oh, we just fixed this, we just fix that.
They're not doing well, the luck ran out. Now they
need to figure out. Okay, how can we actually get
back to executing getting Saquon in the game being offensively
minded not offensive? Do you like that? I'm just trying
to make a smile. I like, I can sense have
(28:14):
done for you. Thank you. I appreciate it. Well, not
the fact, not the first time I heard that. Listen,
Miami Carolina, we won that one. Rico Dowdall two hundred
and six yards one hundred and seventy yards on the
right side, no kidding. So Miami just cratered, like they
stopped scoring for basically two and a half quarters, and
(28:35):
then they gave Bryce Young a chance to Bryce Young
and come back and win this game. And it was glorious.
It was everything that's great about Bryce Young and why
we love betting them when we actually decided to bet
him in the exact right spot, which we're only doing
imprudent and thoughtful ways when we're betting the Carolina Panthers.
Speaker 2 (28:54):
Yeah, and I was cursing his name. I won't lie
when it's seventeen to nothing.
Speaker 3 (28:57):
It's like I shouldn't known, should have known not to
back price here. But yeah, like you said, he definitely
came back and made the throws, but this was a
Miami loss seventy nothing. Waller, I don't get it, Like
this guy comes back, he looks like an all pro
tight end. He's getting whatever he wants. That's why they're
(29:19):
up seventy to nothing. Then they just go away from him.
Very bizarre game plan in the second half by Miami.
And yeah, Panthers won this game by Miami, like most
of these teams, like the Eagles too, Like these teams
lose these games. Like so Miami tough, tough loss, but
you know they know the deal. They're a bad team,
Like they just their secondary. There was a point there
(29:42):
where they're saying these guys' names and their secondary. It's
like I've never even heard of these guys, which is
just brutal because it's like I don't even hear them
coming out of college. So yeah, you know, Miami, not
that they needed this win, but it felt like their
coach did where it's like, if you can string together
a couple wins, maybe his job will be all little
safe because they do have an easy schedule. But you
(30:03):
look at it, go, well, they're easy schedule. They're part
of that easy schedule for other teams. They're just a
bad team. So yeah, another game that we we should
have more confident on. But it was never gonna be
on my five favorite bets this week.
Speaker 1 (30:15):
Well not when we had the New Orleans Saints minus
one and a half staring us in the face and
the line jumped to two and a half before kickoff,
so we were still getting a good number. As you said,
we were leaking confidence. I was leaking confidence because it's
Spencer Rattler and it's the Saints as a favorite, even
(30:38):
though from the beginning a week ago this time, I'm like,
why are we not going to bet the Saints as underdogs?
And then they became short favorites when Jackson Dart has
played one game and look, Jackson Dart proved to be
a rookie. Like they got up fourteen to nothing, and
(30:58):
then the Saints like they kept fighting, they kept fighting,
they kept fighting. Jackson Dark looked really good for about
fifteen minutes of this game, maybe twenty minutes of this game,
and then all of a sudden, like the Saints did
what they've been doing all year. They just kept themselves
quietly in the game, and then they just freaking dominated
(31:20):
and truly turned Jackson Dart into a pumpkin again.
Speaker 3 (31:23):
Yeah, I thought, like you said, Jackson Dart actually didn't
play terribly, Like there's if you're a giantsman, they still
think there's things to be excited about with this team.
But you saw that, you know he's going to make
those really really stupid mistakes like.
Speaker 1 (31:36):
That that fumble.
Speaker 2 (31:38):
Yeah, that fumble just.
Speaker 3 (31:39):
Totally shifted that game and was so inexcusable. But another
game that you know, I think they were down fourteen
to three or fourteen six and Spenser Raller, like we talked,
I couldn't believe it when I dove into the numbers
and like saw that he was a lot of websites
had him great as like the eighteenth seventeenth about the
(32:00):
quarterback in football, which again I know that's not crazy high,
but the NFL is so hard right right, It's like
I couldn't believe that. It's like, oh my god, Kellen
Moore is making this work. I saw that there's a
little a little bit underrated potential on the Saints team,
but didn't see that coming. They they blew them out
(32:22):
in the second half, really dominated them, and yeah, twenty
six fourteen I think was the final score. So another
game when it finished, relief, happy it hit, but like you,
I was like, damn, probably should have stuck to it
heading the contest. That was a stressful game, but also
a unique spot, no brainer type of bet where like
(32:45):
we said they were, they looked like they were more desperate,
and they looked like they had a quarterback that's taken
you know, was at his tenth start. So again I
didn't want any of the previous ten. Finally won this one,
and yeah, now we can go back to the Saints
being big dogs and get them at a good number.
Speaker 1 (33:03):
So look, Jackson Dart the first couple series nine of
twelve for seventy five yards, two touchdowns. Saints are down
fourteen to six. The rest of the game he had
one hundred and twenty five yards and two picks, and
that included when they were down and having to throw
the ball and a sort of runaway win that started
(33:25):
with Jackson Dart basically just the ball slipping out of
his hand on a fumble to start the second half.
And that's when they all started to look like rookies.
Speaker 2 (33:34):
Right.
Speaker 1 (33:35):
As excited as everybody is about Cam Skataboo and Jackson Dart.
They're missing moleik neighbors. They don't really have they don't
have offensive weapons. You can't put literally the game in
the hands of two rookies and expect to come out
and not lose leads. They both fumbled and they both
(33:57):
led to mistakes that were killers and from to the
final score and putting the Saints over the top and
give him the win. Good for Spencer Ratland, including his
eighty seven yard touchdown pass, so really great. Just loved
it that one, Like, even though we didn't have it
in I was just glad because we I know how
much you bet it. I know how much I bet it,
So loved it totally.
Speaker 2 (34:20):
Like Spencer or Baker, like two qbs today.
Speaker 3 (34:23):
That really showed up in a big way for me
betting wise, And I'm sure they're fan base for the
same way of like they probably shouldn't have won the
way they did and both teams, Yeah, had incredible quarterback playing.
Speaker 2 (34:37):
Again, Spencer made some big time.
Speaker 3 (34:38):
Throws, so yeah, like that's that's got to feel pretty
good that you know this kid keeps approving Yeah, because
he hears the noise they're tanking for whatever it was
Arch Manning week ones like think how stupid that sounds
now looking back? I know right, it's it's a unique
spot now for the Saints. Can they build momentum here
or was just the one fluke? So yeah, I'm excited
(35:01):
to see what they end up being for the next
couple of weeks.
Speaker 1 (35:04):
All right, By the way, that Buck's that book, great
call by you on the box, great game game a
Mecca Buka and Jackson Smith and Jigba. That was anything
you can do, I can do better? Like they were
just going up and down the field, up and down
the field. They must like. Good for them, Good for
Ohio State receivers. That was high quality play. Poor Sam
(35:27):
Darnold before that interception twenty seven to thirty two for
three twenty something and four touchdowns, like he was almost perfect,
only to be bakered. He got bakered. Yeah, And it
was a phenomenal.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Game, all time game.
Speaker 1 (35:42):
Oh man, All right, let's hear from hard Rock. Then
we're gonna come back. We got some some goats, we

Kareem Hunts found the end zone in sixth straight October

I'm gonna I'm gonna name a couple, and then I'm
gonna give you my ultimate answer. Okay, before we get
to yours.
Speaker 2 (37:45):
That side, same, same, same one.
Speaker 1 (37:52):
I was gonna give it to Terry and Arnold Detroit
Lyons cornerback who every week has some pass interference or
defensive hole and call only today it happened to come
on a play where Jake Browning had gotten sacked in
the end zone by Aiden Hutchinson and it would have
been a safety. He got bailed out by the fact
Jake Browning two plays later threw a touchdown or through
(38:15):
an interception, so he does not get to be shamed, shamed, shamed.
I was going to give it to Cliff Kingsbury because
when the Commanders were buried in their own half of
the field, just outside their end zone at the end
of the first half, instead of running the ball when
the Chargers were clearly not calling their timeouts, he decided
(38:38):
to throw the ball, which led to the punt from
the back of the end zone that was returned by
Lad McConkey. Only they got lucky because of the roughing
the punter and then Ja Daniels bailed everybody out with
these brilliant throws to Luke McCaffrey and Deebo Samuel. Are
you ready? Are you ready for my absolute shame, shame,
(39:00):
shame of the week?
Speaker 3 (39:08):
What are the rules there? I feel like you've just
given out six shames.
Speaker 1 (39:11):
No, no, these were what could have been, but they
were they were bailed out. I'm giving you a shame
that that was not bailed out. The Jets entire defense.
You alluded to it earlier, okay, in the sort of
sandwich touchdowns between the Jets in aptitude on offense, this
(39:31):
is what it would look like for the Jets. With
forty one seconds left in the half, the Jets gave
up a sixty eight yard draft of Devonte Williams. The
Cowboys scored a play later. Combine that with the drive
just prior for the Cowboys, which started with two minutes
(39:52):
left from their own ten yard line. They got down
the field in sixty three seconds and scored a touchdown.
The fourteen points the Cowboys scored on the woeful Jets,
they're not even trying defense in one minute, thirty five
(40:13):
seconds and they gained one hundred and forty three yards.
That was There was no coaching, There was no trying,
There was no fire, There was no strategy, there was
no effort, there was no thinking, there was no there
was no consequences, there was no understanding of what they
were facing. There was just quit, plain, old quit by
(40:37):
the New York Jets. That shame, shame, shame. It's hard
for me to know where you're going.
Speaker 2 (40:47):
To go with this.
Speaker 3 (40:48):
I'll just be quick Arizona. Shame get him out of
my country. They let them become the I don't even
know she was senting to Mexico to be in Mexico's city. Cardinals,
just get it. I'm out of America. They no longer
they should shouldn't be here. I just can't get over
how bad that game was, and then of fishing NFL
officiating in that game.
Speaker 2 (41:08):
Shame, just the whole thing. It's shame, shame, shame.
Speaker 1 (41:13):
Now, I get it. I feel for your brother, I do.
I know you can't. You can barely pontificate on this one.
I'm going to give you a chance to find some
joy in the week because I do have a hero,
someone who pulled victory for us from the jaws or defeat,
someone who made it so we could be two and
(41:35):
two with the handwringing. And it's a consternation that we
have when we go into these weeks. I thought about
Rico Dowdell game two hundred and six yards. I thought
about Spencer Rattler, who got his first ever win. But
I'm going with Kwan Martin. Do you know who that is?
Speaker 2 (41:55):
Have you ever hit the Kwan? Well?
Speaker 1 (41:58):
Kwan hit the Quan today because the Washington Commander's Safety
forced Quentin Johnston's fumble in Commander's territory that there was
no doubt the charges were going to go up seventeen
to nothing in that game, and then it was basically
a dead bet. And then we're basically one and three
on the day. And instead of having like every game
(42:21):
that we won, you mentioned you know you're eleven and
two on your sides for the day. I think I'm
like six and one on my sides for the day.
The only game I lost the New York Jets, and
it would have been much much uglier if Kwan Martin
had 'en forced that fumble to get the Commanders back
on the road to victory. Yay Kwan.
Speaker 3 (42:49):
My ear of the day will be my mother. Today's
your birthday. Come on, love your mom, shout out, toll
them moms.
Speaker 1 (42:56):
Ah, that's beautiful, that's nice to you.
Speaker 2 (43:00):
I'm you'n.
Speaker 1 (43:08):
I'm glad your mom doesn't listen to the podcast. I
know your dad listens to the podcast because your dad
is a faithful and devoter Reachwheeler every single time I
put out a link, and I'm hoping your mom, you know,
I know she doesn't feel that way about you at all.
All right, before we get to some let's let's do
some comments really quickly, because we do have some people
(43:31):
basically feeling the same way as you. Uh. Bigness wants
to know. Should we make the Cardinals stay in the
field so everyone can throw trash at them until they
get too tired to continue.
Speaker 2 (43:47):
No, it's too nice. You gotta get We should get
her about there.
Speaker 3 (43:50):
Make them scape from blue line to blue line and
they keep asking what team they play for. There's bitches
bring out bringing the ice.
Speaker 2 (43:58):
Sick of them, everybody on that line. Somebody's going to
get hurt again.
Speaker 1 (44:04):
I've actually never seen you react like this. You're always like,
it's just betting, it's just football, trying to be a professional.
Remember this. It wasn't even like twelve hours ago when
you were like, dude, you're so immature.
Speaker 3 (44:17):
I called you an amateur, but you were being immature
as well. I'm glad you agree.
Speaker 1 (44:22):
Oh amateur? Yeah, well I thought it was immature. It
was the filly in you. Here's a question from Donald
what I think is important. We talk a lot about
late money. Why do we care so much about late money?
Speaker 3 (44:35):
Well, mister President, it's a big deal. All right, don
the late money to me scares me. It's good in
some ways, but in a lot of ways it scares
me because it's the dopey public play the pros. Almost
all my work is done by five am. I mean,
(44:56):
I'm still doing stupid shit and betting on info because
I can't help my self.
Speaker 2 (45:00):
I'm a degenerate.
Speaker 3 (45:01):
But that money today that came in that late on
the jets, that's people following the wave, and the bookmaker
is having to move that line to adjust to it
because you know, schefter puts out a tweet or whoever
it was. Of all these guys that are out, they
have to protect themselves against it because that's some real
money coming in. Some legit pros might come in and
(45:23):
they might like that side. But yeah, for me, the
most interesting part of the lines that don't move like
that Commander's line sitting at two and a half all
week at two of the most public books in America.
That's pretty telling usually, So that stuff's more what I'm
looking for when I see the pros or the books
(45:43):
are holding on a line. And you know, like I
always say, certain books will move a half a point
on a ten thousand dollars bet from respected better and
they won't budge on ten million dollars from the public,
So that stuff really doesn't matter. So I hope people
know we're just not talking of our asses. There's a
(46:04):
lot of stuff, you know, when you hear and you
see going on, that dictates where that money is going
and why it's moving the numbers the way it is.
Speaker 1 (46:11):
All right, let's talk about some early leans for next week.
I know you're sick to your stomach. You probably don't
even want to think about having to it.
Speaker 2 (46:19):
All looks horrible to you. I'm just like, all I
see is pain. This is so good, I can keep going.
I mean, that's what sucks. It's like, we had a
great week, We're freaking two and two. It's ridiculous.
Speaker 1 (46:29):
Well, listen, we got the Jacks tomorrow night, and so
who's who's ever felt bad betting the Jags at plus
three and a half at home? Gauge is saying, shouldn't
Seattle plus one be a must bet next week? They're
actually at the Jags one point underdogs someplaces one and
a half at the jack Seattle. Any thoughts on that yet?
Speaker 2 (46:50):
I agree?
Speaker 1 (46:52):
Is it terrible of me to say, oh my god. Look,
the Cleveland Browns are four and a half point underdogs
on the road at the Pittsburgh Steelers. And if there's
ever been a time you want to fade the Pittsburgh Steelers,
it's when they are favorites at home in the division
against the Cleveland Browns.
Speaker 3 (47:10):
Interesting line, it's plus five right now at hard Rock,
and I agree, I can't believe it's that inflated. Maybe
it's the I'm sure Evan have some amazing trends. Maybe
it's the whole no rest traveling back from England could
play a game on the road against a team that's
coming off of bye week. There must be something because
that why is that not three and a half?
Speaker 1 (47:31):
Like it should be three based on everything right, it
should be division.
Speaker 3 (47:37):
So I agree with that early read. I'll grab the
plus five, But there's definitely something fishy going on with
that game.
Speaker 1 (47:45):
How big is too big for the Cincinnati Bengals. They
are fourteen and a half point underdogs on the road
against the rested Green Bay Packers.
Speaker 3 (47:56):
In another life that was going to be the survivor
pick green Bay. I don't know, Chad, You're the one
that keeps believing in this guy, what's his name, Browning.
Speaker 1 (48:07):
Jake Browning. I kind of lost my faith today too
many times, too many times. He was throwing too many
bad passes from the back of the end zone.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
I know, like a four weeks to figure that out.
Speaker 1 (48:18):
It's a team putting them in a bad spot. But
geez Louise, like Jamar Chase is getting frustrated. I know,
he made a great cash today from the touchdown, and
they tried, they tried to make it close. But this
team is this team, and so to me, it's sort
of a pass. They're becoming the Tennessee Titans. For me,
it's hard to bet against them. But I don't think
(48:39):
I can bet on no matter what the number is.
And I know, I mean.
Speaker 3 (48:45):
I know if I'm betting against a trend that's twenty
and one, which is exactly what I did ben against
the Bengals today. You know, it's a train wreck right
now for them because it's like they were in the
spot of spots and still didn't matter. They're just absolutely
terrible in every facet of the game right now.
Speaker 1 (49:03):
Listen, the Arizona Cardinals are plus five and a half
at Indianapolis next week. We know Kyler is great when
he's on the road too soon.
Speaker 3 (49:12):
Yeah, I mean that's this land line will be taken down.
The Colts are lucky they have a bye week now
because Cardinals won't exist, So it doesn't matter.
Speaker 2 (49:25):
No, that was the only other game I got a
little pissed off at you about was the Colts.
Speaker 3 (49:30):
How do we not? How do we miss that one?
Where it's like I love that game, we were bet
into it. This feels like another Colt spot. The Colts
are a good team and their biggest shit and they
push their weight around and if you make mistakes like
Kyler should, this is a bad spot. So I think
Kyler left for a minute because he had a foot injury.
My early position hard rock right now in Jersey's minus
(49:53):
five on the Colts super public line. I'll take it
because if he's out, if Murray is and it's tru Kobe,
I don't even remember who their backup was. I know
he came in the game. It's bad. Like that's a
really bad spot. For as much should I want to give.
Kyler still a great athlete, and he could give problems
to the Colts. Jacoby Brissett could not give those problems
(50:16):
that guy's a statue. So, yeah, this is an interesting number.
I'm gonna take the early nine with the public on
the Colts minus five.
Speaker 1 (50:23):
All right, So Colts is one, We're looking at Cleveland
is one. We're looking at Cleveland plus four and a
half on the road at Pittsburgh Seattle is interesting. We
don't know enough yet about Jacksonville.
Speaker 3 (50:35):
The tuppiest line right now, there's two insanely traffic lines,
which one Tampa is minus three right now at home
against the forty nine ers.
Speaker 2 (50:45):
What is that number? What are we doing here?
Speaker 3 (50:49):
Why are we not putting our life savings on Baker
and the books at home minus three? Like lightning striking
twice for mac Jones, He's gonna go on the road
and beat Well.
Speaker 1 (51:00):
Do we know that brock Purty isn't playing next week?
Speaker 2 (51:02):
I'd be shocked.
Speaker 1 (51:03):
That's what that lines. That's what that line says to me,
is that, Yeah, that's.
Speaker 2 (51:08):
A weird number to open that.
Speaker 3 (51:09):
And Chiefs Detroit it's opened right now, hard Rock minus
one of the Chiefs. That will be the biggest public
dog of the year, not even close to any other
side every hammering Detroit. Yeah, yeah, they're the to me,
people are gona haveing Pirrect is the number one team
of football right now. That's sports media cannot wait to
(51:31):
thrown the Eagles and put the lines up at number
one and just say week one was a fluke. They've
dominated three straight weeks. So yeah, that's a that's a game.
I'm circling right now. Where it's like, I want to
bet Detroit as a dog right now, just in case
the Chiefs do lose like they think, we think there's a.
Speaker 2 (51:47):
Possibility they can lose tomorrow night.
Speaker 3 (51:50):
Why not take Detroit Chiefs lose, we get Chiefs plus
two and a half. Maybe we can find the middle.
But I'd rather be on the Chiefs of the dog
opening the Chiefs right now favorite. I wouldn't be the
Chiefs a favorite right now.
Speaker 1 (52:01):
I was gonna say, I'm just gonna wait and see
what happens, because i'd rather have the chance just to
bet the Chiefs. I don't know, like.
Speaker 3 (52:08):
Tomorrow, there's no chance this gets up two. There's no
world the Chiefs are minus two. If they are. If
the Chiefs are minus two and a half, good for us. Yeah,
guarantee they're in our contest next week. Right, So I
just came to the Chiefs move more of a favorite.
I think this is a this is a dog line
for Detroit to bet right now, all.
Speaker 1 (52:28):
Right, so we're going to dig in a little bit
more deeper. On Tuesday, quickly review, Simon says was Ravens
plus three and a half and Commanders plus two and
a half. We did two this week because the line
had moved so much on the Ravens. Chad loves the
Jags plus three and a half. Brass balls Jets plus two.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
And a half.
Speaker 1 (52:49):
Lost that one rock and a hard place. We had
the Broncos and the Eagles. We liked the Broncos. It
was a tough call, sharp versus square. This isn't going
to cheer you up. But you had the Saints and
the Jets. Our favorite are our favorite parlay meaning betting
on the betting and parlay on the faves. We had
the Cardinals no Bills we don't know yet, Lions yes,
