Speaker 1 (00:00):
Welcome to Sharper Square, presented by a hard rock bet.
We are part of the Volume podcast Network.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
This is the show that makes the.

Speaker 1 (00:08):
Squares sharper and makes the wise guys pay attention. I
am Chadmulman. I am joined as always by Michaels, my companion, Mike.

Speaker 2 (00:16):
Padre, Professional Better, Simon hunt Ello.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Simon Chad, how are we doing great? You know, you
know what.

Speaker 2 (00:26):
We're two and two on the day.

Speaker 1 (00:28):
But it was some wacky, wild fun football. This game
with the Bills and the Patriots just a burn burner.
Let's give it up for Matt Mitchell right now because
he's being a total pro, hasn't lost it once in
the prep to come on the show. He's producing the show.
We washed it all together in real time. He's the
mayor of Western New York and he's going to suffer

(00:50):
through the show listening to us talk about that game,
which we did not win. We had a minus one
and a half in the contest, we had the Browns
plus three and a half in the content, we had
the Texans, we had the Titans, I mean.

Speaker 2 (01:03):
Plus two and a half.

Speaker 1 (01:04):
That one really stinks, and we had.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
I forgot who else we had.

Speaker 1 (01:11):
Who else do we have set Seattle minus seven and
a half. Nice job, Simon Hunter. All right, we didn't
really have any last outs, like.

Speaker 2 (01:22):
You know the game.

Speaker 1 (01:23):
The only other games that were like in contention, Raiders, Jets, Dolphins, Colts, Jags,
Like we talked about all sides of all of them.
So let's get into it. I want to say Buffalo
for the end. Nice job by you. Seahawks minus seven
and a half at Carolina. This was Simon says, and

(01:46):
I gotta tell you it was exactly as you played out.

Speaker 2 (01:50):
This was about Seattle's defense.

Speaker 1 (01:53):
Sam Donald was truly terrible in this game, basically for
the whole game. Unfortunately, Bryce Young in the first half
was worse one point one yard per attempt in the
first half. I mean Seattle's defense two turnovers in the
third quarter, putting him in contention to score those two touchdowns,

(02:16):
and they kind of ran away with it from there.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
Yeah, Seattle's defense in Seattle's run game, shocking League really
showed up to this game. I think it was three
to three at a half time, and Seattle basically ran
from one hundred yards in that first half, and it.

Speaker 3 (02:27):
Was just Sam Darnold was horrible, just a.

Speaker 4 (02:32):
Yeah, couldn't hit open guys, kept taking bad sacks, went
under the ball too long, had a bunch of weird
sacks where he would pull his head down, look at
the passers around him, and just collapse on himself.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
He just was not at all on rhythm. Man.

Speaker 4 (02:47):
Yeah, the defense built us out just because, like you said,
Bryce Shong had what he's been doing all season, he
has he's up and down games, and he had a
really bad game today, really down. I know Teddorron McMillan
was sick coming into the game and.

Speaker 2 (03:01):
Zero catches or maybe one, yeah, maybe one catch, but.

Speaker 4 (03:04):
Catch your five yards or four minutes and like you know,
you could say no excuse, but he didn't look himself.
But at the same time, it really was just all
brace Shawn. He just could not get into a rhythm.
And Seattle's defense, we've talked about it this year. They
just travel. I mean, it's crazy how good they are
on the road defensively, and uh yeah, even in certain

(03:25):
scenarios like you said, it just things weren't going their way.
It was three to three going into half, and not
that I was ever like, oh we're dead. We're never
going to cover the number, but it make sure you realize, Okay,
we have a bad number, right, I think they closed
six and a half. Yeah, did the hook, so we
didn't need the touchdown. We need to touchdown and at
least a field goal. And yeah, Cooper Cup had a
horrible drop in the back of the end zone that

(03:46):
you could have maybe called p ion, but it was
a bad drop and they took the field goal. And
it's like, Okay, we're probably gonna get back door here.
But like you said, lucky for us. Bryce Young had
a couple more couple more picks and you know, just
one pick on the day, but that was a crucial
moment when he got the ball back, turned it over
and they went right down and sport another touchdown. So yeah,
the Seattle team, like we've talked about, when they're flexing

(04:07):
the defense, it doesn't matter how bad Sam Donald is right,
they're gona keep giving them short fields and opportunities to
score the ball and eventually them break through. So this
is a game Seattle. We're missing a lot of players
and didn't really matter. I think they lost I forget
who it was. Some in the middle of the game, right,
might more of the receivers. Maybe was Rashi Saheed the
punter return to wide receiver that went down the injury.
But it was just like Seattle couldn't catch a break,

(04:29):
kept getting injuries, and they did not matter.

Speaker 3 (04:30):
Their defense was so dominant. They just rolled this game.

Speaker 1 (04:33):
You know, Sam Donald to begin the second half, well,
let's talk about the first two drives in the game.
First drive, Seattle has a third and thirty one. Obviously,
I don't convert second drive. They asked something like a
third and fifteen, third and twenty. They run a draw.
They actually convert it. First drive in the second half,
they get down into the red zone, Sam Donald lays

(04:54):
one out perfect pass thrown directly to a Carolina Panther's cornerback. Luckily,
Truba Hubbard fumbles on the very next play.

Speaker 2 (05:08):
The Seahawks scored a.

Speaker 1 (05:10):
Touchdown because basically they just start decided to start running
the ball, and then the very next series Bryce Bryce
junk throws that interception.

Speaker 2 (05:16):
So yeah, that's that's how we got bailed out there.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Like this Seattle defense, it's going to be great to
see next week, Like we know it's going to be
a field goal game depending on what happens tonight, but
right now to there are three point dogs on the
road at San Francisco next week. Oh no, now the
numbers moved one and a half. It was dude, this
number was three before I came upstairs. So someone's betting

(05:40):
this number down. We're going to talk about that in
a little bit. It's gonna be one of the key
games to talk about, all right, Simon New Orleans at Tennessee.
Tennessee opened to a three point dog, closed closer to
two one and a half in some places two and
a half.

Speaker 2 (05:58):
In the contest, Tyler Shuck.

Speaker 1 (06:01):
On his rookie of the Year making drive, throws a
great pass to chrys Olabe.

Speaker 2 (06:11):
Unbelievable, very next.

Speaker 1 (06:13):
Play, perfect back shoulder in the end zone for a
go ahead touchdown.

Speaker 2 (06:18):
They go up twenty seven to twenty six. What was
more amazing.

Speaker 1 (06:21):
About that is that the drive before had been his
rookie of the Year making drive. And Pettis, the Sames receiver,
caught a screen he's running for the end zone, breaks
two tackles because guys are trying to strip. The ball
gets to the end zone, someone punches it out. The
Titans recover stops the Saints from taking the co head touchdown,

(06:44):
getting the go ahead touchdown, but the Titans can't do
anything with it, so Shuck gets to redeem himself with
a new Rookie of the Year game winning drift.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
Yeah, let me just start from the top.

Speaker 4 (06:54):
This is as nice as I can possibly beat the
chat because he is coming off of COVID.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
Chad, you have one job. What is your one job?

Speaker 2 (07:01):
Don't bet the Tennessee Titans. That's actually true.

Speaker 3 (07:04):
Yeah, dude, I.

Speaker 4 (07:05):
Bet the Tennessee Titans, and you failed your job once again.
We would beat ten games up. We would be ten
games above our record if we just did not have
the Tennessee Titans every week in our contest. And even
when they're up thirteen to nothing, I was like, we're
gonna blow this game because I just we should have
not had Tennessee in this contest.

Speaker 3 (07:23):
Then then got our main contest. I did not put them.

Speaker 4 (07:26):
I'd switched them out and put the Colts plus six
and a half, which got very lucky cover, very lucky.
But yeah, I was cursing your name the whole time.
You got me rooting against my guys. Shuck, who for
the believers out there there are, I twet it out.
We have like twenty believers in shuck who bet shuck
with us? Or just I should say mea cha. I
didn't believe plus one fifty Rookie of the Year now

(07:49):
two hundred to one, five or four weeks ago, five
weeks ago, he is now plus one fifty to win
Rookie of the Year. It's just he's the man in
this game. You I know, you were scared of him.
You were scared of Shuck. He would drop back and
hitting totally.

Speaker 1 (08:01):
I was totally scared of him. Anytime cam Ward dropped back,
I was not scared. Anytime Tyler shut dropped back, I
was totally scared. I was convinced he would complete a pass.

Speaker 4 (08:12):
Yeah, he stud u three hundred and thirty three yards. Yeah,
he was like seventy year eighty percent passing rate, two touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
No, just it's crazy.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I know he's been it's been bad teams he's been
beating up on but he's been beating up on him. Like,
it's really impressive how good he's been playing. They were
down whatever, it was, thirteen nothing and he came back
in this game and.

Speaker 3 (08:33):
Cam Ward, you know, we live and die.

Speaker 4 (08:36):
But him, he had a couple of incredible plays, incredible,
then he had a couple of just this guy is
a total bonehead rookie quarterback and.

Speaker 3 (08:43):
He burned us.

Speaker 4 (08:44):
So I still believe until the very end, because I
just have to believe that there was a chance we
would get down there, get that touchdown and whatever they
would to get the two point when no matter mean,
you would cover.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
But he's just can't do it.

Speaker 4 (08:56):
Can't what even even on his incredible plays. As he
was down, I think it was uh yeah, down play.

Speaker 2 (09:01):
It was a fourth and ten play and his knee
was down.

Speaker 1 (09:04):
It was a brilliant last second sort of backwards passed
that got them the first down upon further review with
replay assist, his knee was.

Speaker 3 (09:17):
Down, so legit, no joke.

Speaker 4 (09:20):
I don't want to hear the word Tennessee in your
mouth next week if you bring up that game, I
swear to kind of freak the fuck out yet, So no, Tennise.

Speaker 3 (09:27):
I just I can't do it anymore.

Speaker 4 (09:29):
I don't know what I got to do to you
for you to stay away from Tennessee, but you somehow
got me back into it, and it's like, dude.

Speaker 3 (09:36):
It was the literally the only job I gave you
this year. Just don't let us put tennis in the contest.
We put it in somehow believab.

Speaker 1 (09:41):
Oh look, we got a little bit, We got a
little bit caught up in. They're five and three against
the spread the last eight games since Mike McCory took over,
and they've been playing better football and making better decisions
and not not doing the bonehead ill prepared concepts that

(10:04):
put them the positions where all of a sudden they
were down thirty seven to three in the first half.

Speaker 4 (10:10):
There are thirty one other teams. I don't want to
hear your reasoning anymore.

Speaker 1 (10:14):
So.

Speaker 2 (10:14):
The wise guys loved them at the end of the day.
At the end of the day, the wise guys loved
Oh my god, it was terrible.

Speaker 1 (10:25):
At one point, the Titans went for it on fourth
and two for midfield. They threw a wide open, uh
dump off screen. It was great. They went up thirteen
to nothing. We're loving it. Cam later in that seat.
In that half, he got stripped back. Strap got stripped
sacked by Chase Young, who returned for a touchdown thirteen

(10:46):
to seven, thirteen ten with three fifty one to go
in the first half. That was like kind of the
beginning of the end. That's when we knew, because the
Titans were dominating that game, dominating that game.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Hey is down to plus one thirty Rookie of the Year.

Speaker 1 (11:02):
Congrats to Tony Poller, fourth straight one thousand yard season
rushing tied for the longest active NFL streak. Pittsburgh Steelers
at the Cleveland Browns. We were on it all week
four and a half four, three and a half, closed
at three. I took it on the money line. I'm

(11:23):
pretty sure you took it on the money line. Look,
the Browns were truly inspired, going up ten to nothing
in the first ten minutes of this game. And like
on that first touchdown, Shador Sanders in a rainstorm floated

(11:43):
a wounded, slippery duck over the opposite shoulder from Harold
Fannin Junior that it was supposed to go. Fannin twisted
his body, twisted his groin, caught the ball, landed on
the goal line, and split two defenders to get it.
They scored the touchdown. Fannin's done for the game. The

(12:06):
Browns are up ten to nothing, and we're feeling pretty
good because Shador was dominating. He was ten to fourteen
for one hundred and fifty six yards and a touchdown.
Had the Browns driving, gets hit, throws a pick and
all the momentum like obviously their momentum swings in this game.

(12:30):
But the Browns could have put this game away in
the first half, and instead they barely won this game.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
Yeah, lucky for us.

Speaker 4 (12:39):
Shador had one good quarter and Aaron Rodgers could not
have a good quarter, So.

Speaker 1 (12:43):
You could see the difference with no dk Metcalf and
other receivers on his team.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
A little bit.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
It's it's honestly on these games I watch and I'm like,
what was their game plan in Pittsburgh? I felt like
their honest game plan was Aaron Rodgers is I don't
want to be on this highlight reel for the next
one hundred years of mouth here sack because he just
every time took the quick checkdown or was throwing the
guys who hadn't even broken out of their route yet, right,

(13:09):
he was just trying to guess where they're going.

Speaker 3 (13:11):
To because he felt a little bit of pressure. Very
bizarre game.

Speaker 4 (13:14):
It really was like, I just this is why people
lose their mind watching these games, being like the NFL
is fixed because you see a game like this, and
we joked about it, but why would the NFL not
want this Week eighteen game between the Ravens and Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (13:27):
The matter and they don't care at the end of
the day. That is the truth.

Speaker 4 (13:30):
But when you watch a game like this, it felt
so bizarre where Pittsburgh just you know, thirty nine passes
by Rogers, but I bet you thirty seven of them
were between ten yards or before where we just coming
to this game, he had been playing well, pushing the
ball downfield.

Speaker 3 (13:45):
He was just so bad in this game.

Speaker 4 (13:46):
I think he played half his passes one hundred and
sixty eight yards. Just a bizarre game. And again they
ran the ball all they wanted to Pittsburgh. I think
they ran for over one hundred and thirty yards and
their averaging over five yards per care. Yeah, they only
got six points, So that's what I mean. It's just
a very weird game. But we bet this, like I say,
every year we've taken Cleveland here at home as a dog,

(14:07):
and now it's five out of six years they've went outright,
So we talk.

Speaker 3 (14:12):
Divisional games are always weird.

Speaker 4 (14:13):
Certain teams Voodoo the Jags today that number got down
to three and a half. They covered that number, right.
So it's like it's just these weird divisional matchups. These
certain teams have these teams numbers and the Browns, it
doesn't matter if they have Sanders at the quarterback position
who's terrible, or you know Deshaun Watson who was terrible
when he was there playing for the Browns. They just
cover this number. It's always their defense that shows up

(14:35):
big time. The Browns did today. I mean that was
a really impressive the defensive performance. Like I said, Sanders,
that one quarter, you swing your eyes, you like this
guy could be a pro. Like he was making big
time throws, running with the ball. The other three quarters
are like this guy he won went out and camp
next year. I mean, you know talking about Molik coming
up from Green Bay, where's he going to go? If

(14:55):
he went to Cleveland, I think he could beat out
shudor Sanders. Yeah, ma Undes, it's just Sanders. He just
is so inconsistent. That's his biggest issue. But I always
say rookies, I tried to be too hard on him.
That's when you end up with a Peyton Manny who
led the league. I think in interceptions is a rookie,
and the baker broke his record for interceptions as a rookie.
It's you never know, right, It's just such a tough position,

(15:16):
so trying to react to it. But Sanders, he tried
to make us lose this game. Tray, he tried to
throw a couple of but thank god they dropped him.

Speaker 1 (15:24):
He had an oh my god, off balance into coverage
unnecessary pick early in the fourth quarter when the Steelers
were on their heels and the Browns d was dominating,
even Dion like in the box. They showed a clip
of him, like he just took his his hat off
his hands and just covered his face and was shaking

(15:45):
his head. He's like, come on, man, like, these are
the things you gotta know better. I raised you better
than this. I raised you better than to throw off
balance picks into coverage when your defense is winning you
the game. And the Browns held and they won in
the game. I mean, the Browns couldn't even convert a
third and one with two minutes thirty seconds left to

(16:07):
potentially win the game, like deep in their territory. They
still had to get the defense to come back on
and hold the Steelers. So kudos to the Browns defense.
That's why we bet him.

Speaker 2 (16:19):
You're so right about Aaron Rodgers, Like every ball he
threw was just trying to make sure he wasn't going
to get sacked by Miles Garrett.

Speaker 3 (16:26):
It was bizarre.

Speaker 4 (16:28):
It made me so happy where we took the Browns
where it's like this is did the dream scenario this
game right now?

Speaker 3 (16:34):
They just they can run the ball they want.

Speaker 4 (16:36):
Eventually they're gonna have to throw a third and five
and Rogers could not complete any passes.

Speaker 1 (16:40):
I look, we tried to avoid the Buffalo Bills, but
we were enamored with Josh Allen. We were enamored with
this running game. Uh the way it played out, we
weren't going to cover because the number ended up closing
it one and a half in the contest.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
I'm not gonna lie.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
I live bet the Bills money line at plus three
point thirty in the first half, so that two point
conversion was real kicking the dick because I would have
loved to have seen them convert back. What a crazy game.
It's so interesting you see this in so many games.

Speaker 2 (17:20):
How much.

Speaker 1 (17:23):
Mistakes swing momentum more than big plays. Mistakes, you see
it with penalties. You see it with fumbles. Those are
the things that end up killing teams more than aj
Brown making an unbelievable play or Brandon Cook's making an
unbelievable play. It's always the freaking mistakes that kill you.

(17:47):
Because the Bills were driving. Josh Allen may or may
not have fumbled that ball that led to the eagles
first touchdown, but then the Bills couldn't get anything done
until four minutes left the game.

Speaker 4 (18:01):
Yeah, another game where a quarterback played a good quarter
like Hurts to me, played really well for a quarter.
I think he was at one point five or six
on third down, he was carving up that Bill's defense. Yeah,
and then he basically did nothing the rest of the
game and let this team totally get back into this
Bills team and just well we talked about with this
Eagles team, right, like their offense something's been off of

(18:22):
them all season. Their defense has just got constantly better
every week. And this is the Fangs masterclass type of
game where they knew Josh Allen something was off with
him and he was not going to try to run
the ball.

Speaker 3 (18:34):
They really didn't didn't QB spying that often.

Speaker 4 (18:37):
It was pretty shocking watching the whole defensive game plan,
and I think they said it was the first time
he had been shut out in the first half at
home since the Giants in like twenty twenty three, and
you knew eventually was going again when I was like you,
I bet the lie, but I bet the number I bought.
I bought the seven and a half. Uh, you know,
I think they went down. They got the four and
out on the goal line and it went right back

(18:58):
up to eight and a half and I hit it again,
and you just knew eventually Josh was gonna get one.
He got the two, he got two touchdowns, had to
put his team in the best opportunity pasta can put
him in to win the game. And once again team
let them down special teams. Right, that missed extra point,
And I don't hate them going for two, right, that's
such a momentum play, you know, just win and get

(19:18):
out of there. Don't have the guys play a whole
other quarter in that overtime. And sucks for us though
as someone that had the number, we wanted obviously the
extra point in overtime because I want to cover our bet.

Speaker 3 (19:28):
But I do think that was right by the.

Speaker 4 (19:29):
Bills and this Eagles team that feel like an Eagles
game that they've played all season, where you know, they
play really well for a quarter or a quarter and
a half and they just do nothing offensively the rest
of the game and rely on the defense to kind
of pick up the scraps. So trying not to put
too much blame on either side. It was horrible weather,
the whole game really sloppy both. Yeah, you know, Eagles,

(19:50):
I don't know what they're playing for at this point.

Speaker 3 (19:51):
Maybe they're playing for the two seed.

Speaker 4 (19:53):
If there's the math works down the Bears lose out,
maybe I think that's their motivation, but I expect them
to sit start next week. So yeah, it's as an
Eagles fan, I would say pretty disheartening seeing how bad
the offense was in the second half. But at the
end of the day, I guess the win's a win.
But for us, as the Bills better, we were never
really in it, but we should.

Speaker 3 (20:12):
We had.

Speaker 4 (20:13):
Our only hope was that kicked the extra point. We
get the overtime, but it was just at the end
of the bad bet. I just Josh Allen, you can
see that injury was a big deal. Yeah, you know
this team when they get down from behind. He has
been superman. They put that stet up there all the
time he's come back this season, and yeah, he's been
so good to a SECANDIC complain, right, he's cashed that
money line. Like you said many times in a fortune,
this time, Chad, that two pointer just didn't go your way.

Speaker 3 (20:35):
Brother.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
The Eagles had one hundred and seventy four yards in
the first half. In the second half, I think they
had seventeen.

Speaker 3 (20:45):
Also terrible.

Speaker 2 (20:46):
Yeah, Jalen Hurts was over seven in the second half,
and I don't I don't know that I blame Hurtz.

Speaker 1 (20:56):
They basically only had him throw in pretty high leverage
situations for the Bills where they knew he was going
to throw and they could bring so much more pressure
than they had in the first half. And I just
thought he was super conservative and instead of trying to
make aggressive throws, which he did do in the first half,

(21:17):
he just sort of took those.

Speaker 2 (21:18):
In front of him.

Speaker 1 (21:19):
And now, unfortunately, it meant that they weren't gaining ground
on the Bills or improving their position on the Bills.
And then the Bills did what the Bills do and
scored those two touchdowns. But I don't know if I
don't blame I don't look at that and think, oh
my god, the Eagles are in real trouble. I thought

(21:40):
they played pretty well and then just were super super conservative,
hoping their defense could get that one extra stand in
the fourth quarter. Yeah.

Speaker 4 (21:51):
Yeah, it just doesn't make sense to me because it's like,
you're not good enough offensively to be conservative. You need
to get some type of rhythm head of the playoffs.
Their offense has just been a nimacull season and this
has been the problem. Last year they could lean on
Saquon the run in the second half of That's what
was the magic syrup, right, they would dominate these teams
lean on Saquon the second half. And you saw in
this game Saquon just couldn't do anything. I think you

(22:12):
had less than four yards per carry. You just every
time he's getting hit in the backfield. And it's been
the quiet secret of these Eagles this whole season. Their
offensive line just not that good. So, yeah, it'll be
interesting what they're like in the playoffs. Right once Lane
Johnson's back. You saw Jalen Carter, how big of a
different teamate coming back in this lineup, So, like I said,
hopefully Eagles rest guys next week and ready to go

(22:33):
once they get to the playoffs, because it looks like
it might end up being them versus the Rams.

Speaker 3 (22:37):
In round one.

Speaker 1 (22:38):
We got the Bears plus three and a half tonight.

Speaker 2 (22:42):
God, we were.

Speaker 1 (22:45):
Like both of these games, so close to being three
and one or four and oh heading into the Bears
plus three and a half tonight. Instead we are two
and two heading into the Chicago Bears visiting the San Francisco.

Speaker 2 (25:23):
All right, Simon.

Speaker 1 (25:24):
One of our live viewers, Alison Norris, wants to wants
us to talk about how bad the NFC South is
because we got a Panthers box game next week about
to take the title for the NFC South. I don't
want to talk about that yet because I know we're
going to talk about in our leans. But look, the

(25:46):
Panthers lost today to the Seahawks. Acceptable.

Speaker 2 (25:49):
We planned on that. The bus lost to the Dolphins, which.

Speaker 1 (25:54):
I thought was going to happen, and the busmo continues
to be the same, taking early lead and then blow
the game.

Speaker 2 (26:02):
And they completely blew this game today.

Speaker 3 (26:06):
Yeah, and shut out to Alis Norris. I see all
your tweets. She's a number diehards chat, She's been an
OG She's an original love Listen. I love this division
so much.

Speaker 4 (26:20):
And when we're in a spot where Carolina all they
need to do is tie this game against the Bucks
and they go to the playoffs at eight and one.

Speaker 3 (26:27):
This is what I live for.

Speaker 4 (26:28):
This is everything I'm all about. I hate these people
that want to reseed the playoffs. No, it's you win
your shitty division. You deserve to be in with home
field in Round one. So couldn't be more excited as
a better I'm dying, dying for the Panthers to win
because I'm going to one hundred percent bet on them
because I've been doing it all year, the up and down,
the fade, the ride, the fade, the ride week the week,

(26:52):
No doubt be on them upcoming. But it didn't even
matter what the number is going to be. They could
have been the favorite. I probably would have talked myself
into it. But is there gonna be an easy your
fade than them in the playoffs? Doesn't matter who they
play in the wild card round. It's like, my god,
if it's your Bears, I think the Bears will Smif
this team, it's gonna be really interesting what Carolina gets
matched up with.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
But yeah, NFC South total train wreck. Someone put up some.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
Crazy statu It was basically the Bucks, what are they
won in seven their last eight? And the guy wrote,
this team, if they win in week eighteen will make
the playoffs. And I love that to you. I was like,
that's so true. They just win one game in week eighteen.
After that run, they'll win. But yeah, we missed two
really easy ones today and you nailed it. That one
was a bad miss and the Patriots was a bad mess.

(27:38):
We should have been on that one. So as soon
as that game started, like you said, it's like, of
course they don't get enough fourth down. Of course the
Viorsiver runs the wrong route. Of course, Baker throws that
bad pick. It's just like you said, a train wreck
of you know, nine weeks now for this Bucks.

Speaker 1 (27:53):
Team, that's got to be the coaching at some point,
even if they make the playoffs, you gotta wonder if
is going to stick.

Speaker 3 (28:00):
Now you have to fowre.

Speaker 4 (28:02):
You know, it's just as Baker gets like hernia surgery
into both his acls fixed and shoulder surgery, then I
give Todd Bowles a little leniency. What if nothing happens
with that and it's just all the whole head coach
and just that's what it has to be. It has
to be culture. It's just a total meltdown by this
team right now.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
Another game that we want to talk about. Randy Savage
is watching. He'd like us to know if the Giants
should be our shame shame, shame for actually winning themselves
out of the number one overall pick.

Speaker 2 (28:37):
They're not my shame this week, though.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
That game ended in a brawl, so they should all
be shamed for deciding they were going to take it
so intensely and try at the end of the game
when nothing else mattered anymore. But oh lord, thank god
we talked ourselves out of the Raiders while Max Crosby
was trolling them with more and more videos of how

(29:00):
injured he is.

Speaker 3 (29:03):
I don't watched.

Speaker 2 (29:04):
I think I watched.

Speaker 1 (29:06):
I watched half a series of that game after the
early games ended, while waiting for the Bills game to begin.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
Yeah, it's like you said, just a horrible game. Overall,
Dart actually played pretty well. I think overall the Giants
of the team played pretty well. And you saw why
the Raiders are just awful. It's just Geno Smith just
this whole season, how bad he is, just taking horrible sacks,
terrible spots and uh yeah, just you know, the Raiders

(29:35):
getting them one tick, getting your guy. It's uh, it's
all lined up now, Chad, And there's just there's no
way they win in the last week and screw up
this draft pick. So I get if I was a
Giants fan, I'd be pretty pissed, honestly. But you know,
like I talked about Jackson Dart, he want he needed
to win that game. He doesn't want anyone coming in
here and being controversy with the quarterback positions.

Speaker 2 (29:57):
So yeah, that was I think that's right.

Speaker 3 (30:00):
That was an old.

Speaker 4 (30:01):
Timer though that this I think they drove the field finally,
Las Vegas, they scored a touchdown, and literally the ensuing kickoff,
the Giants returned it back, and it's just like, man,
this is just a totally horrible team. They just kept
showing Pet Carol on the sideline, you know, talking about it.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
They think he's gonna be back next year.

Speaker 4 (30:18):
And all I can think about is I wonder if
they're gonna let him keep that stupid hoodie of his
and all of his old merch he got for this
one year of work and just sent him about his way,
because you just you can't bring him back, especially with
the fact they're gonna be drafting the rookie quarterback. You
need to go get, you know, a great offensive mine.
You know, a lot of the a lot of talking
right now, our Brian Flores his new contract up for
the Vikings.

Speaker 3 (30:39):
After seeing how it's played out.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
Two in Miami, I don't know, I'd be yeah a
little getting a guy like Brian Floores coming.

Speaker 1 (30:46):
I think if you're the Raiders and you're gonna get
a new coach and you know you're drafting a quarterback,
you gotta get a guy who knows how.

Speaker 2 (30:54):
To work with quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (30:57):
That's it out there there, Chad.

Speaker 2 (30:59):
That's I was part That's what I was going to say, Like,
I don't I don't know who that is.

Speaker 1 (31:02):
There's no obvious choice to go fix the Raiders like
there was for the Bears, right, Like who's who's the
offensive genius who's been surprising us this year?

Speaker 2 (31:16):
That would be a no brainer.

Speaker 1 (31:18):
Who'd want to take over and work with a brand
new number one overall quarterback?

Speaker 3 (31:23):
Maybe?

Speaker 4 (31:23):
I mean you could look at the Sea of the Saints.
I mean, it's a lot of Kellen Moore. But whatever
they've done with Shuck between the QB coach that of
all the quarterbacks is to me week to week keeps
making the most progress.

Speaker 3 (31:35):
So that's the name to watch.

Speaker 4 (31:36):
Or whoever, I don't know who it is, But whoever
the OC is or the secondmental line Cohen like guy
that's learning from the best, right the Jacks twelve wins now,
it's insane. So maybe our guys, we just don't know
a Raider right now. But you're right, that's probably the
way to go. But I just can't get over how
good Floors has been defensively. The Vikings just amazing, yeah, amazing.

Speaker 1 (31:56):
Yeah, But when I watch him on the sideline and
I think he's great I don't know who's going to
give him another shot when he's in the middle of
sue in the.

Speaker 2 (32:04):
NFL, you know what I mean.

Speaker 3 (32:06):
Yeah, that's true.

Speaker 1 (32:09):
It's just it's a real it's a real tricky one.
You just mentioned the New England Patriots at the New
York Jets, and you know wise wise words this morning
when I tried to make the case we were never
going to put it in, but you explained to me
why we couldn't put it in, and just about couldn't

(32:31):
put the Jets in and in a normally blind smash
spot for a two touchdown underdog at home against the
team with so many injuries, all Drake May did was
throw five touchdowns to five different receivers go over four
thousand yards. They clinched the AFC East. Drake May has

(32:53):
probably put himself position to win the MVP, he humbly
said after the game. When he was told he joined
Tom Brady and Drew Bledsoe as the only Patriots quarterback
to throw for four thousand yards. He was asked, how
does it feel to be in their category? He goes,
I am not in their category. So yeah, they dominated

(33:16):
and I think he only threw like twenty passes. He
completed twenty one passes, five of them for touchdowns. Twenty
five percent of his passes were for touchdowns.

Speaker 4 (33:23):
Yeah, nineteen of twenty one nineteen completion of twenty one
pass attempts ninety percent completion percentage. And I saw someone
put up his numbers next to Lamar's numbers. Basically the
only guys ever deal what he's did at twenty three
and it was a year Lamar one MVP, so you're
not far off saying he is, you know, close to
get MVP now. I think he's down a plus two
hundred plus one seventy five and a couple of different books.

Speaker 3 (33:45):
Well worth it.

Speaker 4 (33:46):
Right, if Stafford lays an egg, you know this upcoming
game against Atlanta or in week eighteen, I talked about it,
like these these writers, they rarely give this award to
wild card teams. It's just they like to give to
the quarter a couple one or two seeds, so they're
gonna be in quite a spot. Like to me, as
much love and respectors getting to Stafford, right, he's had

(34:07):
a much tougher schedule and what he's done is so
oppressive and he's earned it. It's like the the LEO
when it in the Oscar right, it's like this he
put in all the work all these years. That might
not be his best performance ever. This might not be
Stafford's best performance ever, but he's do one like he's
always been. This guy who's been at the top of
the leader board. He's in Detroit, he's kind of you

(34:28):
never could give him that type of award, and we
came to La they always had such a good run game.
He was never gonna get the touchdowns he needed to
get this award. And this year, I mean they've really
leaned into the red zone touchdown passes right up to McVay.
Never really did before, but with DeVante Adams and Puka,
these big body receivers, they really threw a lot of
touchdowns and his numbers just look insane. So Drake may

(34:49):
put him in a weird spot like he's really do
he really needs to throw for another three touchdowns on
Monday night or up Tuesday morning, and all of a
sudden they're at a picking because I just think this
Strake made the level he's been playing out. Once again,
it's been bad teams, but it's incredible, Like he just
does not have these letdown games.

Speaker 3 (35:06):
He's letdown spots.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
So I hate it as a as a Newland hater,
I am just hoping it's a one year wonder flash
in the pan.

Speaker 3 (35:13):
But he looks he looks so free.

Speaker 2 (35:16):
It looks really good.

Speaker 4 (35:17):
I can't wait to see what does in the playoffs
because we know, we know the stats right, first time
stars in the playoffs, it's just tends to be disastrous.
But he looks like the neo, the freak, the matrix breaker,
just the one of the kind type of guys.

Speaker 3 (35:28):
So I cannot wait to see it.

Speaker 4 (35:30):
Because the AFC is just wide open, and you know,
they get healthy this Patriots team, like we said coming
to this game, they had a lot of people out.

Speaker 3 (35:37):
They can get guys back.

Speaker 4 (35:38):
Defensively, get the offensive line healthy again, be really interesting
this this Patriots team come in.

Speaker 1 (35:43):
To playoffs, Will Campbell, Milton Williams, Travon Henderson coming back.
That'll be interesting once they're fully healthy and they're playing
top notch talent caliber talent every single week. One more
game I want to talk about before we get into
the next categories. Yeah, uh, the Colts in the the Jags.
This game, it opened at six and a half it

(36:04):
got bent down to four and a half, we both
walked away from it when it got below six, landed
on six, and I got to say credit to Trevor
Lawrence and credit to Liam cong because they were down
ten to nothing, and then they were down ten seven,
and at the end of the first half they were driving,
and Trevor Lawrence threw a classic bad Trevor Lawrence pick

(36:28):
in the Colts end zone that basically closed out the
first half. They could have gone up fourteen to ten.
Instead they were going to the locker room down ten seven.
Then they went ahead again and fell behind again, and
they kept coming back, and Trevor Lawrence was just making
good throws and clutch situations, hard throws to make. He

(36:49):
didn't panic, he didn't make his usual stupid plays. I
was impressed, like they had no reason, no reason covering
that game.

Speaker 4 (36:59):
Yeah, And I was honestly the only reason I played
the Colts at six and a half in that contest,
which is because all the professionals I knew in the
world were like, dude, you have to play that number.
This number should be you know, five and a half,
four and a half. And then also it was three
and a half by kickoff, and it's like, all right,
I'll follow these professionals, even though I do not believe this,
and I had bet. I told you i'd bet into
the Jags just because of that crazy trend. Now the

(37:21):
Colts now are three and eighteen against this Jaguars team
against this bread and it's just the craziest stat Like
that's why I once the number moved that much, I
was like, all right, I have to bet this, especially
now three and a half. But yeah, the books threaded
the needle. They were going to cover that three and
a half, and then they went forward on their own
side of the field on a fourth down and you know, Rivers.

(37:43):
It was a fun story, but it's honestly played out
exactly how I thought it was going to play out.
Where he can put together a good driver too, but
it's just it's never gonna be consistent enough to win games.
And unfortunately for them this type of game, the Jags
just sold out to stop the running. I think Jonathan
Taylor barely averaged three yards per carry it. They just

(38:03):
basically said you're gonna have to beat us with Rivers
and he tried his best chat but you knew that
pick was eventually coming. Yeah, get another pick that was
dropped and cool, story was really fun, Like I honestly
got a little emotional watching just to start of the game.

Speaker 3 (38:18):
He was getting like interviewed, and it's like this is surreal.

Speaker 4 (38:20):
Like I can't believe forty four year old, fat faced
Philip Rivers is out here slanging still. And like we said,
last week, aast the forty nine ers. If they had
somewhat of a defense, he would have won that game
in Briantown, like he was slinging, and this week he
looked a little bit like that the arm had finally
caught up to him. Was a little bit of a
noodle arm at some point. And yeah, seventeen seventeen completions

(38:41):
on thirty attempts. It just it was never working for
this offense. And uh, like we've been saying the Jaguars
Trevor Lawrence, the biggest thing he unlocked this year was
using his legs. And that's a crazy stat It was
basically he's only their quarterback. I think then Hurts and
Allen that rushed for more than eight touchdowns, threw for
more than three thousand yards this this season. So total

(39:04):
props to Trevor Lawrence and you know, we've talked with
Lin Cohen upper Coach of the Year. It's just really
impressive with the Stax teams done. And I'm like you,
I there was a there was a minute therehe It's like, oh,
the Cultu are gonna win this game, and now Houston's
gonna steal this division, and that the Jags in the
second half they found a way through all that anniversary
So it's it's really impressive.

Speaker 1 (39:21):
Yeah, all right, Simon, who would you like to shame
this week?

Speaker 4 (39:30):
I had a couple options, but you gotta go with
the Bucks.

Speaker 3 (39:35):
Gotta go with the Bucks.

Speaker 4 (39:42):
Just I guess shame Baker Mayfield because he is the
leader of the Bucks. So shame on you, Baker. It's
just total letdown after letdown. Like, well, we were watching
that game. He had guys open. He's just so bad
right now, He's so inaccurate and uh, you know, the
run game was obviously really disappointing.

Speaker 3 (39:59):
This game. We let them down.

Speaker 4 (40:00):
But you know, Baker to face that Miami secondary and
only come olia with seventeen points in that type of
game again, Baker, September, that's thirty four points easy, and
you know another weird game where you know a Mecca
booka five targets, three catches for twenty yards.

Speaker 3 (40:17):
What happened? Like, it's just bizarre.

Speaker 4 (40:19):
This guy was by far the best rookie catch on
fire for through seven eight weeks and he's totally falling
off Mike Evans. Seven targets, three catches, I think he
had thirty yards. Like, it was just all negative. So
just total shame on this Bucks team. Just as a
fan of the Eagles when they had their meltdown, it
was honestly the worst eight weeks of my life. This
Bucks meltdown is even worse. I had someone compare it

(40:42):
to that Eagles team. I said it might be worse
because this is just incredible how bad it's been. But
they can save it all in Week eighteen by winning,
so pretty pretty insane.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
But yeah, shame on Baker. Just totally disappointed.

Speaker 2 (40:56):
Shame on the Tennessee Titans defense. So awesome in the
first half.

Speaker 1 (41:07):
Jeffrey Simmons was tackling guys downfield, he was tackling guys
behind the line of scrimmage, he was forcing fumbles, he
was getting sacks, ten points allowed. Tyler Shuck was in
check second half twenty four points allowed, fourth quarter fourteen

(41:27):
points allowed. Those two scoring drives were both four plays.
One of those scoring drives went for eighty yards in
two minutes and twenty eight seconds.

Speaker 2 (41:37):
Another scoring drive.

Speaker 1 (41:39):
Four plays sixty four yards in one minute and ten seconds,
and oh, by the way, that doesn't count the three
play seventy yard, one minute, forty four second drive that
ended with a fumble at the goal line, which the
Titans could then not convert. As bad as cam Ward was,

(42:00):
they did get twenty six points, and he gave seven
points to the Saints. He did, and the Saints and
the Titans defense, with multiple chances, could not stop the
Saints from going on long drives down the field in
very short amount of time and coming back from multiple
multiple double digit deficits. Shame, shame, shame on the Tennessee Titans.

(42:29):
I mean, I guess it's shame on me, but really
it's shame on the Tennessee Titans. Simon, who's your hero?

Speaker 4 (42:36):
Yeah, there's a lot of good options this week, and
I'm gonna go a little off track just to give
this guy some shine because it was just so impressive
and cost me some money. That's her damn sure Derrick
Henry Hero of the Week. I mean, I'll go through
the numbers just because how insane they were, But you
had two hundred and sixteen rushing yards four touchdowns. He
moved into the fourth all time in rushing touchdowns and

(42:59):
he is now in the top ten of rushing yards.
Derrick Henry, he has had two seasons in Baltimore. In
both seasons, he's rushed rover one thousand, two hundred yards
and has over twelve touchdowns in both seasons. It's just
you look through his numbers in his career, what he
did Tennessee and now what he's doing for the Ravens,
and it's just, you know, when you're watching a Hall
of Famer, right, we knew coming in this guy at all,

(43:19):
this potential was this giant freak. You just always wonder
how his body would hunt hold up because he runs
standing up like AP does Adrian Peterson. They don't lean down,
they don't get get low, they run straight up, and
they take so much contact with that big being that
big of a target doesn't matter. This man is just
he's the best. It's so incredible watching him. And I
joked with you the last week we got really lucky

(43:41):
with our Newland bet. Yes, Horrible did us a huge
favor and stopped putting him in the game. I don't
know if you saw the Derek Henrick quotes after the game.
He's just basically saying, this is why I train. He's like,
I get better as a game goes along. This is
what makes me so great. It's like that's a little
shot at his head, coach, being like, you're out of
your mind. That let me get touches in the fourth quarters.
So yeah, here of the week, Derrick Henry. Just incredible game.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
My game.

Speaker 4 (44:05):
I honestly thought Malik Wilson play that type of way
in Green Bay would play really well defensively, they never
had a chance. Derrick Henry was on one just dominant
that game, and step Only obviously played really well, But
that was a total Derek Henry type of game. Two
sixteen yards, four touchdowns.

Speaker 3 (44:20):
Again.

Speaker 1 (44:21):
Yeah, they kept listing all the career records. He was
basically climbing the charts on total yards, touchdowns, multiple touchdown games,
touchdown games, multiple touchdown games with one hundred yards, like
truly incredible. The company that he is keeping now, it's
only people that are Hall of Famers.

Speaker 2 (44:43):
Yeah, exactly, exactly.

Speaker 3 (44:45):
I love every time they show that.

Speaker 4 (44:46):
I love seeing Curtis Mortny. That was just my one
of my favorite careers ever. Just the guy could never
wear out.

Speaker 3 (44:51):
He just just ran.

Speaker 2 (44:53):
He just freaking ran.

Speaker 1 (44:55):
In the spirit of going back, my here of the
Week is actually Brian Flores because that defense had that
was a one sided game. They had Max Brozman playing quarterback.
I think he had fifty six yards passing, and they
were going up against a team that for the past

(45:16):
couple of years has been a juggernaut offense.

Speaker 2 (45:19):
And while you and I can keep.

Speaker 1 (45:20):
Saying they weren't that good this year, the announcers were
glazing the Lions like Jared Goff was a MVP candidate.

Speaker 2 (45:30):
None of that we believed was true.

Speaker 1 (45:33):
As good as their stats are, they made Jamiir Gibbs
Luke mediocre. They made Jared Goff look like the guy
the Rams traded. They made Aman Russ Saint Brown disappear,
They made Jamison Williams disappear. They made that offensive line
look like they are a train wreck of an offensive line.
They knocked the Detroit Lions out of the playoffs, a

(45:53):
juggernaut team in the past two years. I don't think
the Lions need a reset. I think the lines are
going to be fine, but I think they put them
out of their misery the Vikings did for this season,
and that Vikings defense was freaking awesome. And if they
actually do get a quarterback and Brian Flores does stay,
I would be really excited having a Vikings fan because

(46:15):
they played with such passion and spirit and strategy and
he knew exactly which dials to turn at the exact
right time in that game on Christmas.

Speaker 3 (46:24):
So you said the Vikings have been a top three
defense this season, Jed, I.

Speaker 2 (46:28):
Did not say that.

Speaker 3 (46:29):
No, would you would you say? Damn it? I was
just open, you're gonna set me up.

Speaker 4 (46:37):
I just want to bring up once again, Jalen hurts
through for three hundred and twenty six yards, three touchdowns,
no picks.

Speaker 2 (46:43):
See, I wasn't going to say that.

Speaker 3 (46:44):
I like, to me, that's my whole point. Though they're
they're legit right.

Speaker 2 (46:48):
They've had that.

Speaker 1 (46:49):
They've had their moments when they've been great, but they've
also had moments where they've gotten beat up by teams
that shouldn't have beat them up and teams that are
really really good, and they made those teams look healthy.
But on this day they were freaking awesome when they
knew they had no backup, like they had to be
perfect because.

Speaker 3 (47:08):
They had met at negative like seven yards passing.

Speaker 1 (47:11):
Yeah, exactly, all right, Simon says, Seattle minus seven, Nice job,
Chad choice, Houston plus two and a half. Good job,
brass balls, Cleveland plus three, Nice job brocking a hard
plays Buffalo minus one and a half. That's a bummer,
sharp fish a square Chad had Tennessee. Simon out Chicago
favorite Parlay Seattle, yes, Green Bay, No Tampa Bay, no Rams,

(47:35):
we don't know. Bills, no underdog Parlay, Houston, yes, Bears,
we don't know Tennessee no, Cleveland, yes, Las Vegas no, Simon.
There are two games we got to talk about for
our early leans in Week eighteen. Number one, Carolina opened
as a three and a half point road underdog against

(47:56):
the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Speaker 2 (47:58):
I bet the three and a half.

Speaker 1 (48:00):
I also bet the money line on the Carolina Panthers.

Speaker 2 (48:04):
Your take on that game.

Speaker 3 (48:07):
I don't hate it.

Speaker 4 (48:08):
And before we dive in though live, the Bears just
moved to plus four and a half because I guess
they have like ten ten guys with the flu right now,
just cold nightmare.

Speaker 2 (48:17):
For it's not good. It's not good.

Speaker 4 (48:20):
Yeah, like I told you, didn't, I don't. I didn't
care what the number was gonna be. I was gonna
blindly bet the Panthers. I just I've been doing it
all season. Have zero faith in the books. I cannot
believe they hung up three.

Speaker 2 (48:30):
Just I'm shocked.

Speaker 3 (48:31):
Actually bizarre number by the books.

Speaker 4 (48:33):
So I'll get more word on this if we're stepping
in it right here, but I'll take the three while
at last, Just like that Seattle game, I was gonna
give out the three, but obviously that's gone. So yeah,
for this Carolina game, I'm like you immediately, I'm gonna
grab that three.

Speaker 2 (48:45):
It's moving to three very soon.

Speaker 1 (48:47):
It's at plus three and a half minus one fifteen
at some books, it's at plus three at other books.

Speaker 2 (48:54):
So get it while you can.

Speaker 1 (48:57):
The other game, Pittsburgh hosting the Baltimore Ravens. They opened
as three point underdogs. I also bet the Pittsburgh Steelers
in this spot.

Speaker 4 (49:14):
Yeap, where the suckers, I mean, there's nothing nothing to say,
nothing to pross people listen to this show. They knew
immediately we'd be betting Pittsburgh at that number. That's see
the definition of like Tomlin row Ross spot. Yep, I
hate it. I knew it was coming as soon as
they lost that game, Like, oh my god, I hope
they at least give us a three when they open this,
not a two and a half.

Speaker 3 (49:32):
And so I'm with you.

Speaker 4 (49:33):
I know it's a sucker bet right now, but I
have to grab that number. It's just does it go
up to three and a half. I would be honestly
shocked see the professionals coming heavy on the Ravens. But
it's it's a crazy game where I think most people
are going to have the model. The Ravens is a
much better team, especially when there's no Dk Metcalfe. You saw,
like you said, that was a big obviously it's some

(49:54):
metrics today with Pittsburgh.

Speaker 3 (49:55):
So yeah, that's that's a really tough game.

Speaker 4 (49:57):
I think we both are like blindly drawn to uh
just simply taking that's just very us.

Speaker 2 (50:04):
Yeah, I just don't think I'll be honest, my.

Speaker 4 (50:06):
God, Chad Bear has already scored a touchdown. Really, yeah,
it must have been a kickoff or something.

Speaker 1 (50:11):
You wanted. Oh man, look at us.

Speaker 3 (50:17):
This might be as good as it gets.

Speaker 2 (50:19):
To bet the Niners and bet the under.

Speaker 3 (50:21):
Rock party picked six by TJ. Edward. Wow, holy ship,
what a start.

Speaker 1 (50:27):
Oh my god, you know what. My kid literally just
texted me the exact text.

Speaker 2 (50:32):
What a start.

Speaker 3 (50:34):
We're locked in.

Speaker 2 (50:36):
Let me just say one thing about the Steelers.

Speaker 1 (50:38):
About the I think the Ravens might have lost that
game if Moleague Will stays in. That defense was terrible
and they were getting beat by a second string quarterback
who was destroying them with no running game. I think
I think they got real issues in their in their defense,
in the passing game.

Speaker 4 (50:56):
Well, it's it's funny like that Green Bay team. I
think I saw they're gonna everybody now and they're gonna
play that kid that came in that looked totally lost. Yeah,
you can get Minnesota minus five and a half right now.
Why do we not take that like they're they're playing
for real. Their defense is playing for real. Extended rest
against the Green Bay team that could give two shits
about that game, especially the floor. He's not gonna be

(51:18):
wasting a week of prep on that. He's gonna be
praying for the playoffs, knowing he's gonna be the seventh seeds.
So I was shocked they opened Minnesota five and a half.
I could only see that getting up to seven. Just
one of those early numbers that when they opened I was.
I was pretty surprised by be careful though, like I
immediately bet the Chargers about realizing Herbert might not be
playing against Denver in that game, because I don't know

(51:40):
if the Chargers can't move their playoffs spot. But they
opened five and a half at Denver, and we talk
all the time Herbert anything above three in his career.
He's eleven and two against the spread as a dog.
So if it is Herbert and they're all playing, I
think we got a great number. If he is out,
I can just buy all that position later. But that
was just an early number that jumped out to me

(52:02):
right away.

Speaker 2 (52:04):
I'm trying to bet Minnesota as we speak.

Speaker 4 (52:08):
And just the last one a game I just found interesting.
It's you know, I know, it's tough because we just
lost on you know, our I saige that we just
won on Cleveland. The Cleveland's on the road at Cincinnati,
and they've just been an absolute juggernaut. It feels like
down the stretch here of Cincinnati, not just defensively, offensively obviously. Yeah,

(52:32):
they're minus seven, minus one, fifteen ten, a couple of books.
I'm gonna take it just in case it goes up.
I just when they're humming like this, Cincinnati, they're they're
one of the better teams in football. Shock in league
Cleveland now coming off another home win. We talked their
defense simply does not travel, so that would be an
interesting game. I'm just gonna grab that one just a
little early now, just in case number doesn't.

Speaker 2 (52:54):
I like that idea, Simon.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
Yeah, we k the again and people, it's a weird
week where it's I play a lot of these numbers
just because I think there's me a ton of movement
depending on teams, how they're playing it, and how the
resting guys. So yeah, it's just the biggest one. Just
be careful about that Chargers number. But I do think
there is value there to grabbing it early. The five
and a half, all.

Speaker 1 (53:12):
Right, I'm just uh, I'm getting that one done too
as we speak. Did I get it done?

Speaker 3 (53:19):
Yes?

Speaker 1 (53:20):
Okay, all right, big game we're gonna want to watch
are definitely the Panthers in the Box and the Steelers
and the Ravens. That was Sharper Square. We are waiting
on the Bears plus three and a half. We lost
with the Bills minus one and a half. We won
with the Cleveland Browns plus three and a half. We

(53:41):
won with the Seattle Seahawks minus seven and a half.
We lost with the Tennessee Titans plus two and a half.

The Burden

The Burden

The Burden is a documentary series that takes listeners into the hidden places where justice is done (and undone). It dives deep into the lives of heroes and villains. And it focuses a spotlight on those who triumph even when the odds are against them. Season 5 - The Burden: Death & Deceit in Alliance On April Fools Day 1999, 26-year-old Yvonne Layne was found murdered in her Alliance, Ohio home. David Thorne, her ex-boyfriend and father of one of her children, was instantly a suspect. Another young man admitted to the murder, and David breathed a sigh of relief, until the confessed murderer fingered David; “He paid me to do it.” David was sentenced to life without parole. Two decades later, Pulitzer winner and podcast host, Maggie Freleng (Bone Valley Season 3: Graves County, Wrongful Conviction, Suave) launched a “live” investigation into David's conviction alongside Jason Baldwin (himself wrongfully convicted as a member of the West Memphis Three). Maggie had come to believe that the entire investigation of David was botched by the tiny local police department, or worse, covered up the real killer. Was Maggie correct? Was David’s claim of innocence credible? In Death and Deceit in Alliance, Maggie recounts the case that launched her career, and ultimately, “broke” her.” The results will shock the listener and reduce Maggie to tears and self-doubt. This is not your typical wrongful conviction story. In fact, it turns the genre on its head. It asks the question: What if our champions are foolish? Season 4 - The Burden: Get the Money and Run “Trying to murder my father, this was the thing that put me on the path.” That’s Joe Loya and that path was bank robbery. Bank, bank, bank, bank, bank. In season 4 of The Burden: Get the Money and Run, we hear from Joe who was once the most prolific bank robber in Southern California, and beyond. He used disguises, body doubles, proxies. He leaped over counters, grabbed the money and ran. Even as the FBI was closing in. It was a showdown between a daring bank robber, and a patient FBI agent. Joe was no ordinary bank robber. He was bright, articulate, charismatic, and driven by a dark rage that he summoned up at will. In seven episodes, Joe tells all: the what, the how… and the why. Including why he tried to murder his father. Season 3 - The Burden: Avenger Miriam Lewin is one of Argentina’s leading journalists today. At 19 years old, she was kidnapped off the streets of Buenos Aires for her political activism and thrown into a concentration camp. Thousands of her fellow inmates were executed, tossed alive from a cargo plane into the ocean. Miriam, along with a handful of others, will survive the camp. Then as a journalist, she will wage a decades long campaign to bring her tormentors to justice. Avenger is about one woman’s triumphant battle against unbelievable odds to survive torture, claim justice for the crimes done against her and others like her, and change the future of her country. Season 2 - The Burden: Empire on Blood Empire on Blood is set in the Bronx, NY, in the early 90s, when two young drug dealers ruled an intersection known as “The Corner on Blood.” The boss, Calvin Buari, lived large. He and a protege swore they would build an empire on blood. Then the relationship frayed and the protege accused Calvin of a double homicide which he claimed he didn’t do. But did he? Award-winning journalist Steve Fishman spent seven years to answer that question. This is the story of one man’s last chance to overturn his life sentence. He may prevail, but someone’s gotta pay. The Burden: Empire on Blood is the director’s cut of the true crime classic which reached #1 on the charts when it was first released half a dozen years ago. Season 1 - The Burden In the 1990s, Detective Louis N. Scarcella was legendary. In a city overrun by violent crime, he cracked the toughest cases and put away the worst criminals. “The Hulk” was his nickname. Then the story changed. Scarcella ran into a group of convicted murderers who all say they are innocent. They turned themselves into jailhouse-lawyers and in prison founded a lway firm. When they realized Scarcella helped put many of them away, they set their sights on taking him down. And with the help of a NY Times reporter they have a chance. For years, Scarcella insisted he did nothing wrong. But that’s all he’d say. Until we tracked Scarcella to a sauna in a Russian bathhouse, where he started to talk..and talk and talk. “The guilty have gone free,” he whispered. And then agreed to take us into the belly of the beast. Welcome to The Burden.
