(00:22):
Our observations from Super Bowl weekend. There was a lot
and you said the word whelming, not underwhelming, not overwhelming,
just whelming.
Speaker 2 (00:32):
Is that a word? I think it might be? Sure
it is that.
Speaker 3 (00:36):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (00:36):
I was whelmed at best, at everything from start to finish.
It was a mediocre, boring night, especially when you invest
so much in the football season every week. We come
here speculating, you're so fired up about every matchup, and
it comes down to a wet fart that we got
last night. And that's how I felt about it. I
mean fart, yeah, because that she were never in it
(01:01):
unless you're an Eagles fan, Unless you're an Eagles fan
or a Chiefs hater, there was nothing to be really
excited about. And then I was excited about halftime, and
even that was well, there's two extremes here. Don't do it, no, no, no,
I didn't hate it. There's people I hate it. I
think they're equally as wrong as people say, and they
loved it. You know, I get it. I understand we
all grew up with hip hop. So to act like
(01:22):
you didn't get it, No, we get it, okay, And
I know his popularity. We're not old by any means.
I understand. Even that was whelming to me because this
is Super Bowl performance. I wanted excitement. Maybe my expectations
were off, but still whelming. And then the celebrations were
equally as welming.
Speaker 2 (01:41):
I didn't see anyone that thrilled to win the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
But I think your whole day was whelming because just
for the time I got it. You got to put
this in perspective. No, it does if he knows a
little under the weather after a week of Super Bowl
fun in New Orleans. That means my perspective was more
accurate than yours, because you're hobnobbin with people having a
fun time. Correct, it was nothing fun about the game. Correct,
you said it home by your watchelf. No, I was
there with theo my dog, and he's my dog, and
(02:06):
that means I was counting on the game to be
entertaining because again, invested in an entire year watching for that.
That's why I'm like, oh man, boom boom. I was
waiting to be entertained. I wasn't like hoping has sucked.
I was waiting to be entertained. There was enough about it.
There was not a moment in that game where you
(02:27):
felt it was a game that sounds ridiculous, but Philadelphia
total ball control.
Speaker 2 (02:34):
That's what she said.
Speaker 1 (02:35):
In the first half, Like, there was a point where
it's like they had the game plan we talked about, Danny,
I'll give.
Speaker 2 (02:40):
You credit all along. You keep the ball out of
Mahome's hand.
Speaker 1 (02:43):
There was a time where it was like, is Philadelphia
the only one on offense? The first three possessions by
the Chiefs were three and out, four plays and three
and out.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
Like I'm here, Patrick Mahomes here exclusive on the Coveno
on Rich.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
I just want to say I'm sorry for one of
the most embarrassing performances by any QB.
Speaker 2 (03:04):
And uh, you know, it just wasn't our night, and.
Speaker 1 (03:07):
Any goat conversation between me and Brady's probably on pause
for now.
Speaker 2 (03:11):
Pumped the breaks, pumped the breaks, but we'll be back.
Speaker 3 (03:15):
Have you guys, did. This was the entertaining part to
me late last night and starting this morning with the
TV sports shows. Have you ever seen the media turn
on a player so quick as they turned on Patrick Mahomes.
Speaker 1 (03:29):
That's what I find eye rolling and his fault though
about the world we live in sports media, I guess
you know, it's.
Speaker 2 (03:36):
A fickle world. He wishy disassociate myself.
Speaker 1 (03:40):
He wins that game by far, the greatest dude on
the history of in the history of sports.
Speaker 2 (03:45):
He loses.
Speaker 1 (03:46):
Let's pump the breaks go. You know that never happened
to Brady or Montana or anyone like so. Well, that's
because if you live in the world of hot takes,
you have to you know, put it in reverse immediately.
And we don't live in that world. We live in
the sports world. But that's not our angle and never was,
never will be.
Speaker 4 (04:03):
My question is, if the narrative for the past like
year or so has been that the refs are responsible
for him winning, shouldn't we just credit the refs for
him losing them?
Speaker 5 (04:12):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (04:12):
The Eagles were dominant, man, the Eagles were dominant. They Yeah,
they were dominant last night. The Chiefs never had a shot,
you know, they they played large and if you want
to look at the positives, here are the two positives
that I took away. As far as the game, the story,
the storyline, the fact that they lost, came back, and
(04:33):
the story of revenge and perseverance is incredible. I think
that's for the history books. Yo Man Jalen Hurts lost
the super Bowl, came back, and clob are the team
that beat off. That is like a story of motivation
and that I love. And as far as the super
Bowl halftime show, I think the takeaway here is they
(04:55):
went artsy and took a chance. You know, maybe creative
and artsy isn't what the super Bowl needs, but they
went for something different. Anyone under forty loved it, anyone
over forty really didn't. And it's generational and that's okay.
I like the fact that they took a chance on it.
Not everything has to be dancing sharks, because that's equally
(05:18):
as eye rolly, you know what I mean. Like, I
don't need dancing sharks either, But you know, at the
same time, I don't know how deep I want to
get for my halftime show.
Speaker 2 (05:25):
Maybe just left shark.
Speaker 6 (05:26):
I'm under forty first of all, and second, I was.
Speaker 7 (05:30):
I was whelmed by Kendrick Lamar, who I like, I like,
I have literally his songs on my phone right now. Yeah,
it just I don't think translates to the stage of
the super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (05:41):
As I heard something, as I heard someone say, Monci,
you know, Kendrick Lamar, that would have been a hell
of a you know, Grammy Night performance. Yeah, the super
Bowl halftime show warrants a spectacle.
Speaker 7 (05:53):
Yes, and you know that hit where everyone jumps up
and you're just so excited.
Speaker 2 (05:58):
There was no surprises. We knew it was going to
be there. What was the surprise?
Speaker 1 (06:01):
The casual, the casual Exuel l Jackson, jet it man,
that's Drake's girlfriend. It took me two seconds to connect
the dots and like, oh Waitnes, that's Serena Williams, Wait
aboute oh Drake. But listen the super Bowl halftime show.
We've been saying it for a year. It's clearly they're
(06:22):
going after a younger demo, which listens, they already got hey,
they already got uh you know you, if you're older,
if you're like our parents generation, they got you, or
you're going to be, you know, eventually dead in the
next one of years. They don't need you, they need
the younger demo. Kendrick Lama is a fine choice. But
if you were looking, like Manci said, for that everyone
jump out of their chair moment. You know, they not
(06:43):
like us as a monster hit. Yeah, But other than that,
if you were a casual music listener, you might not
have known any other song, any other song. That's the
that's the truth. Because he doesn't cross over to mainstream
like the Kiss FM in your hometown and the Z
one hundred. And that's why one hundred could look at
that as a positive, like not everything needs to be
(07:06):
that way, and they took a chance. I'm not sure
if it worked, but again, much like everything in the
United States, this kind of split down the middle.
Speaker 2 (07:13):
It depends who you ask.
Speaker 4 (07:15):
If you put like a huge country artist up there,
who has wide mainstream success, I probably wouldn't know most
of the songs.
Speaker 2 (07:22):
Yeah, because I don't follow.
Speaker 4 (07:23):
I probably could say the same thing like, hey, yeah,
you're never gonna make everyone happy. So it's like, just
put up a good product. And I thought it was.
I enjoyed as a visual and musical performance. I enjoyed it.
Speaker 2 (07:37):
Oh, I thought it was. I thought it was really interesting,
I actually did. I wanted more.
Speaker 1 (07:40):
I thought like, Okay, this is interesting. I like where
it's going. I like Samuel L. Jackson's uncle Sam trying
to dictate where the storyline went, and Kendrick Lamar is
still doing his own thing. The symbolism. I get all
that very cool, but it wasn't that exciting, which was
the mood of the entire night.
Speaker 2 (07:56):
So maybe it's very fitting for a whelming is what
this how about?
Speaker 1 (08:01):
Let's not take Cavino's word for it, sitting by himself
with his dog. Let's not take my word for Let's
go to a guy.
Speaker 2 (08:07):
That's Belvar Burton. Let's take his word for it. Let's go.
It's still in New Orleans. Hold on, hold on the game,
damn Bayer, hold on, hold on what up?
Speaker 3 (08:16):
Dan?
Speaker 1 (08:17):
Wait?
Speaker 3 (08:18):
That's my drop that starting.
Speaker 2 (08:22):
From New Orleans. It is our very own Dan Byer.
He was there.
Speaker 1 (08:26):
I saw all of his coverage on social media, some
great picks.
Speaker 2 (08:30):
Has a has it going? Man? And how was it
from your perspective?
Speaker 1 (08:33):
By the way, is all the green confetti out of
your hairs?
Speaker 8 (08:37):
I did not get hit with green confetti, but there
may be some making its way back with me.
Speaker 2 (08:41):
Yes, Oh.
Speaker 5 (08:44):
Yeah, who knows.
Speaker 8 (08:45):
The Super Bowl halftime show did not translate to the
crowd that.
Speaker 5 (08:49):
Was intended in attendance. It did not. It did not
work in that fashion.
Speaker 2 (08:55):
So it does make I wonder though. It's like, you know,
do you cater to the consumer?
Speaker 1 (09:00):
But at the same time, and I say this all
the time, actually learned this in marketing class. Marketing one
on one tells you that, you know, Coca Cole is
not advertising to you.
Speaker 2 (09:08):
Everybody knows what Coca Cola is. We know what it is.
Speaker 1 (09:10):
They're advertising to younger people, and that's the NFL's way
of gaining a younger audience. They're bringing Kendrick Lamar in here,
even though he's not that young.
Speaker 2 (09:18):
He's been doing it.
Speaker 1 (09:18):
Since the early two thousands. He's in his late thirties, right.
But again, it's not for you. We need to understand that.
But it's interesting to hear that the vibe in your
living room, or at least in fifty percent of the
living rooms, was the same as the vibe in the stadium.
Not that exciting.
Speaker 8 (09:34):
Well, remember guys, when the NFL they struck a deal
with Rock Nation years back, and that changed the Super
Bowl halftime show where now we've had artist based either
in hip hop or R and B ever since really
that agreement was made. So you had the weekend Super
Bowl fifty five. I think he's crossed over to be
(09:56):
you know, mainstream. We had the great Doctor Dre Snoop Dogg,
Shell that it everybody loved in LA and then you
had Rihanna Ashera, now Kendrick Lamar, and so I think
that at some point you do need songs. And that
was the tough part of last night is I don't
know if Monty Senator who said it, but there's only
one maybe two songs you know of kender Lamar, maybe
(10:18):
Rich you said it.
Speaker 5 (10:19):
So nobody's singing along.
Speaker 8 (10:20):
And that was a point that I've made to many
people last night and today is that they played Mister
Brightside by the Killers in the fourth quarter and all
of the Eagles fans were singing it right, and they
played Sweet Caroline, and you know, we know what happens
when see Caroline's played at a sporting event. Everybody singing it.
Nobody was really into it. Last night, however, was worst
(10:43):
that I have seen.
Speaker 1 (10:44):
A minor and it gave me a little did they
gave me some chills man, because.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
Yeah, but that was the only point I know.
Speaker 1 (10:49):
But still everybody that was what the death of Drake's
career as the as the stories go. But yeah, that
was kind of cool but interesting to hear your perspective, Dan,
I thought maybe more excitement the stadium most your dad
didn't get that reference. My point is next year San Francisco,
they clearly clearly aren't caring about your dad. And I
(11:09):
think what Dana is saying here is that with rock
Nation we're not going to get Metallica next year either
because they're from the Bay Dock Nation is going to
give you a younger, more rhythmic, hip hop leaning, urban
leaning radio like audience. That's the truth, right. So if
you look at it the last five shows now San Francisco,
(11:32):
you might.
Speaker 2 (11:33):
Say, well, isn't Metallica from the Bay area?
Speaker 3 (11:34):
Yep?
Speaker 2 (11:35):
Is that the year they do go? Does rock Nation
go rock?
Speaker 1 (11:39):
Do they maybe say is like a post Malone Mightley Cyrus,
maybe go back a little more mainstream, like where do
they go? Where do they go from here? They do
a mix of all that. What says you, dB, that
was the.
Speaker 8 (11:49):
Tough part about last night is you mentioned the special
guess we knew Sizza was gonna be performing with him.
There was nobody that came out that did a song
or did a verse or did anything with him. Special
guests were, as you said, Serena dancing and Samuel Jackson speaking.
Speaker 5 (12:07):
And there is something out like we've.
Speaker 8 (12:08):
Talked about it on this show, like ladies and gentlemen,
blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (12:12):
You're like, oh my gosh, like that, that's the coolest thing.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
I thought it was a big surprise that they fit
one hundred and fifty people in one little car.
Speaker 2 (12:19):
That was a big surprise.
Speaker 1 (12:20):
Yeah, and as half as a half Mexican guy, I
find that to be cultural appropriation. Wasn't even a Tacoma,
I know. So you know, I took a little offense
to that. I'm like, yo, that's he's making fun of Mexicans.
I think joking, joking.
Speaker 8 (12:32):
Fifty Remember Super Bowl fifty they had cold Play and
then they brought out Beyonce, and I think they also
brought out Bruno Mars so you could cold pit play
who you thought could carry the whole show, and they're like,
you know what, let's add Beyonce to this and let's
also throw in Bruno Mars, who, by the way, were
the performers in previous Super Bowls not too far from that.
Speaker 5 (12:51):
In forty seven, Beyonce did it.
Speaker 8 (12:53):
In forty eight it was Bruno Mars, So like you
even have that like level of it, like there is
something need of where all the.
Speaker 5 (12:58):
Stars get together.
Speaker 8 (13:00):
Heck, the biggest controversy ever came with Justin Timberlake and
Janet Jackson, right, like there's a crossover to Yeah.
Speaker 5 (13:08):
What happened? Anybody got video, by the way, just to refresh. Yeah,
I think that that pops. That stuff does pop.
Speaker 4 (13:16):
I'm convinced. I'm still convinced to this day of my lifetime.
Other than like the big ones like Prince obviously Michael Jackson,
which was huge, the two thousand and one Super Bowl
show was one of the greatest, and because it touched
all generations. You had Aerosmith, which was a legendary band
everyone knew. You had in Sync, which was for like
younger people coming off of the late nineties early two thousands.
(13:38):
You had Britney Spears whoever won Love. Then you had
Mary J. Blige come out for a little bit of
the older school hip hop. Then you had Nelly come
out who was contemporary hip hop. So I feel like
a show like that that touches every little generation has
something for everybody, is something that we need.
Speaker 5 (13:53):
You know.
Speaker 4 (13:54):
It's like I thought that the show with like Dre
Snoop Eminem all that, even though it was more hip
hop skid, it touched every generation NFL.
Speaker 2 (14:02):
That's what we need. NFL's not hurt and they could
do what every day I want.
Speaker 1 (14:05):
Stick with what you said, though, Spot, You're never gonna
please everybody, because sometimes when you do all that, if
you get Metallica and Chris Brown, it's it feels forced someometimes,
you know what I mean, Like that sounds dumb to me,
you know. So you know, the NFL took a chance.
I'm okay with it the whole night. Like I said,
it matched the vibe of the entire night. When you
think about it, everything was just okay. And when you
(14:26):
saw the reaction of the Eagles actually winning, the most excitement.
We had to do our research because I was like,
Jalen Hurts, I get it, he's a very poised, level
headed dude, but you do want to see him hoisting.
Speaker 2 (14:39):
The trophy like we won. Yeah, you want to see.
Speaker 1 (14:41):
Excitement you watched an entire season to see a.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Somber process, a little lethargic, you know what.
Speaker 1 (14:51):
For how to do our research, Sam, and we looked
up the Disney World commercial, you know, Jalen Hurts, you
just won the Super Bowl and he does the I'm
going to Disney World. And that was the most excitement
I saw. And it was emotional, and I love that.
I just I wish we had more of that. But
again it goes back to what Spot said, We're never
going to be fully satisfied or fully pleased, you know.
(15:12):
Overall it was it was a it was an eh
sort of night. I don't like poised people. Yeah, I
wanted excitement, but I'm not a fan of the poised.
I like excitement. I like emotions. In fact, the Jalen
Hurts made me roll my eyes, like, this guy looks
like you just you know, won a fifty fifty fifty lottery.
Speaker 2 (15:29):
To schools at his kid's school. It won the Super Bowl.
Speaker 9 (15:32):
The game was such a pummeling though, That's why I
That's why it wasn't It wasn't like a last second decision.
It was like this game was in the books by
pretty much halftime let's be honest, ad quarter and so.
Speaker 2 (15:42):
By the time the game was over, he was like, eh,
we won, eha.
Speaker 3 (15:45):
But when it's thirty four to nothing, I mean, you
know you're gonna win the entire second half. In fact, dB,
I was going to ask you at home watching, it
felt like after the Cooper to Shawn interception the game
was pretty much over. Did it feel that way there
in the stadium?
Speaker 5 (16:00):
Well, Danny, you must be on XS. That's exactly what
I tweeted.
Speaker 8 (16:03):
I go, I think this is over at that point,
because it was. Kansas City had done nothing and they
did not mentioned earlier the early part of this game,
Kansas City didn't even try to run. The Eagles had
eighteen rushing attempts compared to Kansas City's won So even
when Kansas City did have the ball in the limited
(16:23):
fashion when they weren't down by the thirty four, they
were only down by ten or less than certain parts,
they chose to throw the ball. And I think that
that was a big, big problem. Not that they were
going to win the game and run over Philadelphia, but
Patrick Mahomes is not going to beat the Eagles by himself.
And I think the Chiefs game plan forced him to
(16:44):
try to do that, and we saw how it turned.
Speaker 1 (16:45):
Out when Kansas City couldn't put anything together at the
end of the first half, and you like, I'm able
to put some points on the board. You like, got
it's twenty four to nothing. You still thought they'd make
an adjustable. You thought twenty four to nothing. Every one
in my house who was watching was saying, Casey gets
it's the ball, all right, they'll drive and they'll get
the two point conversion and then it'll be twenty eight,
twenty four to eight, a two score game. And when
(17:08):
Kansas City came out in the third and it was
a quick three and out, I'm like, yo, this is
not like yeah, we're not even gonna get an ounce
of excitement, Like this is like the most boring.
Speaker 2 (17:19):
Again, at no point were you like this is a game, like.
Speaker 4 (17:22):
Where were those magical mahomes drives that were used to.
Speaker 2 (17:25):
It happened was getting gator right on him.
Speaker 8 (17:29):
Why he did it, By the way, his gatorade bath
came before the two.
Speaker 6 (17:33):
And that's when if you're worthy touchdown I think happened
once you put out Kenny pickt any I had no
problem with that, and you know what's what's interesting is.
Speaker 1 (17:42):
Three minutes left that the game was always that they
could have poured gerade on Sirianni with three minutes left
in the first half.
Speaker 5 (17:49):
I'll tell you. I'll tell you this. You like Patrick
Mahomes being in the game.
Speaker 8 (17:53):
There was a play where he almost had his arm
taken off like Brock Purty did against the Eagles in
the NFC Championship game. It's about with nine minutes to go,
fumbled and Philadelphia recovered. I had no idea why Mahomes
was still in the game, guys, and then I realized, Oh,
there's Super Bowl records to break. Travis Kelcey broke Jerry
Rice's all time record for most receptions in Super Bowls.
Speaker 2 (18:14):
Yeah, dB, it's so funny would say that.
Speaker 1 (18:16):
I said that to our buddy bo who's in the
editing room today, and Monci before we went on the air.
Speaker 2 (18:20):
I said.
Speaker 1 (18:21):
The bummer for me is that because there was so
much garbage essentially yardage in time at the end, Mahomes
and a couple people padded their postseason stats and the
stories being not like historically it'll be like, well, Mahomes
did throw for three hundred yards because I looked back
the score too.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Unfortunately that's what they'll see.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Yeah, you know what one person I did change my
mind on because Jalen Hurts was so boring. I really,
you know, by the way, I don't think it was
just him. I thought everybody, And it could have been,
you know, because they clabreed them. But it could have
been a sense of relief too. Yeah, you know, but
everything I think everybody's real action was sort of like
(19:01):
not excited.
Speaker 2 (19:02):
I really changed my mind. And we're allowed to do this, guys.
Speaker 1 (19:05):
This is not a you know, you don't have to
be a stubborn ass where you make your opinion and
that's it forever. I set a different side of Nick
Sirianni with his kids last night and him crying postgame,
and he went from guy I grew up with. I
didn't personally grow up with him, but growing up on
the East Coast, New York, New Jersey, he just feels like,
I don't know, like a like a like a guy
(19:26):
you want to like slap in the face, Like like
he's got that look like a like a.
Speaker 3 (19:30):
He used to be number one on your most Punchable Faces.
It's called a hate to face.
Speaker 1 (19:35):
This account win is coming from a guy with a
punchable face, A Rich Davis, shut up, I'm but no,
I got Dixie Rannie when when they win, he's got
this arrogant look.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Very Jersey, oh, very the Philly.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
So what I didn't like about Nick Sirianni had nothing
to do with who the man he is.
Speaker 2 (19:51):
I just didn't like his vibe.
Speaker 1 (19:53):
Seeing him with his kids being superficial, saw a human
sign and seeing his other kid there and him showing
some tears like you know what I'm the jerk for.
You know, I like Judge how to say about this
team loves each other. He said that multiple times throughout
the night, that they're what team is all about, and
how they didn't want to let each other down. And
(20:14):
I think we proved the question of the week. There
was greater motivation from trying to get vengeance in this
super Bowl than trying to repeat because it looked like
they had winners fatigue. It looked like the Chiefs were
never really in it. They didn't know how to really
make any adjustments, They didn't seem pumped about anything, their
(20:35):
body languages super so. Again, I think that the greater
motivator was the fact that the Eagles had been there
and lost to them, and they weren't going to let
that happen again. And I think although we've painted a
really boring picture, the great takeaway here is perseverance in
the comeback story of the Eagles, and I think that's inspiring.
(20:56):
Dan Byer, who's on site, before you go, Man, any
other observations you want to leave us with.
Speaker 5 (21:00):
I think you're Siriani take Rich is very on point.
Speaker 8 (21:03):
There were a lot of people that came up to
him after the game, and I'm curious to see if
he'll be more grounded in his way, in his ways
moving forward now that he is a super Bowl champion,
because there's responsibility that goes with that. I am also
just curious on the Jalen Hurst Jalen Hurts love fest
and how far it takes him in Philadelphia before we
(21:26):
go back to the usual Philadelphia ways.
Speaker 5 (21:29):
Yeah, we have until the you know, opening.
Speaker 8 (21:31):
Week, it's of the of week one, and then we'll
then we'll see if it starts to change it all.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
It is funny, Dan, because the Nick Sirianni narrative from me,
and I'm sure a lot of people went from like, Yeah,
this guy too. I look at him crying. He's got
his kids and you know, but the Jalen hurts being
very ho hum about winning.
Speaker 2 (21:49):
You know what. It reminded me of remember when Paul Skien's.
Speaker 1 (21:51):
Won Rookie Yeah, oh my god, and Livy Dunz all
a sudden he just stand there like a dud. It's like,
I can't vibe with those type of people because I'm
a very excit So I'm like, if you win the
cy Young, if you win the super Bowl, if you
win something, show me something, you know. It's that age
o old question of you know, act like you've been
there before. Look, they never won, though, so be excited
(22:12):
about it. You're allowed to be excited. But then again,
that's kind of what makes some great quarterback. He's a poised, calm,
cool and collected kind of guy. But I thought the
whole team was again maybe relief rich who knows Dan Byer,
thanks you insight man. Have a safe trip back, Dan
bayer By from New Orleans. We had a great time
with him out there and a great week in New Orleans.
(22:32):
If you missed any of our shows, catch the podcasts.
I noticed is going to sound dumb, like, Hey, that
Samuel L.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
Jackson. Guy was really great. I get it.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
He's one of the greatest actors of all time, the
highest grossing actor, right, He's in the most movies that
made the most money. But with the pressures of Super
Bowl Live like that, you're not impressed, Like, here's my mindset,
though not a little bit. When John Hamm did the
introduction and when Bradley Cooper did the introduction, you don't
think those are really I know they're famous and they
live under the spotlight, but we're talking Super Bowl with
(23:04):
a hundred million people watching. You think you'd be able
to deliver in that pressure, no doubt, no doubt. You
know your heart wouldn't be beaten a little faster. You're
just the coolest guy. You don't think it's a nerve
wracking situation. Maybe guys like me have that regular harpee
like a Jeter or a Montana, and you're a nervous ninny.
I'm sure most hyped up guy I've ever met in
my life who can't sit still. I'm sure you would
(23:26):
have been so cool in that situation. Those things don't
affect me, they affect you. I've worked through you a
long time. You're always shocked by this, and it baffles
me because these anything. Kedrid Lavart was more nervous last
night than any other concert. John Ham, yes, because one
hundred million people are watching pressures. It's a high pressure situation.
It comes with a lot of criticism. He knows that
going in there. But you think John Ham does that
(23:49):
and then expects everyone to be like, dude, your voice cracked,
you suck like. It's a high pressure situation to do
those things live under those bright lights. The super Bowl
is not like anything else. It's not the Grammys, it's
not the Oscars. Super Bowl is an international spectacle. So
for Samuel L. Jackson to be that great, I was impressed,
(24:09):
but foolishly whatever. I just think it's super cool when
people deliver under that immense amount of pressure. Look, these
athletes have been playing to get there all season. These performances.
It's it's just a little different. It's a it's a
one and done situation, like you don't get a recut
or a redo.
Speaker 2 (24:28):
Yeah, you know, it is impressive to me.
Speaker 1 (24:29):
I thought Lady Gaga was equally impressive in the beginning,
like she sounded flawless.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
I don't know.
Speaker 1 (24:34):
I always think of something uh, and she Trump jumped
off the top of the stadium. Stoop Dog once told
me this personally. Yeah, Oh, we talked about you get
nervous for certain moments, and he said, I don't get
nervous for stuff I'm good at. I get nervous for
stuff I'm not good at. Like I would be if
(24:55):
you told me Rich go make an announcement in front
of a stadium.
Speaker 2 (24:58):
Yeah, of course it's be a little no, but that's
what I know how to do.
Speaker 1 (25:01):
If you told me, can you go in the middle
of the arena, didn't even so dancing freestyle, then I'd
be nervous. You're you're undermining how this could have messed up,
Like just the fumble of a word could have messed up.
Speaker 2 (25:14):
Samuel L. Jackson, but he was perfect.
Speaker 4 (25:17):
You know who recently really showed how talented and calm
they are. We said this Carrie Underwood. Remember when she
had to perform at the inauguration, which the entire country
was watching, and something about the sound or the music
wasn't going on.
Speaker 3 (25:31):
Yeah, She's like she had to go a cappella.
Speaker 4 (25:33):
I'm just gonna sing this a cappella the Capitol rotunda
and she nailed it, and she didn't.
Speaker 3 (25:37):
Freak out until after she was behind closed doors.
Speaker 1 (25:40):
Yeah, but in the moment, you deliver in the moment,
that's what they do. But you know, I was still impressed.
Speaker 3 (25:45):
You know who he talked to at the Super Bowl
who we were impressed with this same thing, Andrew Whitworth.
Speaker 2 (25:50):
I thought you're gonna say, seal him too.
Speaker 3 (25:53):
But Whitworth, remember, not only was he speaking in front
of the entire stadium when the Cardinals hosted the Rams
playoff game, but he knew he was going to be
on camera in front of millions of people, and he.
Speaker 1 (26:05):
Did express how nervous he was. But Rich Davis not,
you just proved my points, Dunce, What do you mean?
Sure duns had like chpelone. That's a good one. He
said that he was nervous on our show. That doesn't
mean that doesn't mean you don't step up.
Speaker 2 (26:18):
And deliver because you're nervous.
Speaker 1 (26:21):
Andrew Whitworth said he was more nervous than when he played.
Because you know what, Andrew Whitworth knows how to do
play football.
Speaker 2 (26:27):
He's not a public speaker.
Speaker 1 (26:29):
This is you know, he's a rookie essentially in the
broadcasting game, So I would assume a guy like he
would get more nervous making an announcement.
Speaker 2 (26:37):
Fish out of water at a stadium.
Speaker 1 (26:39):
Fish out of water, perform at a million shows.
Speaker 2 (26:45):
We all have. So anyway, my bad for being impressed.
Speaker 1 (26:49):
Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports Radio, are you ready
to do a little things that made you go?
Speaker 2 (26:56):
Super Bowl Edition? Things that make you go, things that
make you go?
Speaker 1 (27:05):
You know, there was a there was a hit on
Mahomes that I I didn't love because I don't want
to see anyone get hurt, and since he didn't get hurt,
I loved it. There was a play where he got
mushed by the face mask like he was when it
happened live, I was like, did he just get killed?
Speaker 2 (27:21):
We have actual sound audio from that clip. Yo, thank
you say the.
Speaker 1 (27:28):
Defender on the Eagles rushed him by the face and
threw him back, and it was like insult to injury
and probably the worst day of mahomes professional career.
Speaker 2 (27:38):
Did you feel bad for him? Not even a little bit.
Speaker 1 (27:41):
No, I mean you don't want to get to the
Super Bowl and stink it like it was embarrassing. At
my party, we were rooting for the shutout come third
quarter because it's like, this game stinks.
Speaker 2 (27:50):
What can we root for?
Speaker 1 (27:51):
Maybe let's root for the Chiefs, a dynasty, having the
worst game in Super Bowl history. And then very quickly
I just got a touchdown. We're like, no, that's over.
But no, I didn't feel bad for them at all.
In fact, you know, it's refreshing. I did, however, think
that the NFL needs to step on it with this
whole eighteen game schedule. We've talked about when the NFL
(28:12):
adds eighteen games, they're talking about adding a second bye week,
and when it's all lined up, the super Bowl will
eventually be the Sunday before President's Day. And listen, we're
here working because we work in sports media, so we're
gonna be here regardless. But everyone else that had to
go to work today think about how we're just one
(28:33):
week away from just having that Monday be a holiday
for you know, everyone else, Like.
Speaker 3 (28:39):
Yeah, today needs to be a national holiday.
Speaker 2 (28:41):
Agreed.
Speaker 1 (28:42):
There's not many things that we could claim as American
that deserve this type of holiday. I really do think
that this is so ingrained as part of our culture,
part of the fabric of who we are all walks
of life in America, all cultures, we all unify on
this one day we celebrate. It should be the day
of rest, the day after super Bowl. What makes me
(29:03):
your recovering day or what makes more sense to you?
Make it Monday off or super Bowl Saturday? No day
off Monday until you got to change something after sixty years, honestly,
Monday off because everyone want to create their day off
after the super Bowl. That's changing something. No, that's yes example, Yeah, sure,
well say you know it's fun. Thanks for me in
(29:23):
the contrarian that I want to swim your head against
the table. Yesterday, yesterday we were at the Yeah, I
want to mush you like mahomes.
Speaker 2 (29:30):
Not a hostility between you guys. We were saying it yesterday.
Speaker 1 (29:35):
We're hanging around my kitchen, half paying attention to the
game because it was like forty nothing, And we said,
of all the things people fight about, politics, the halftime show, everything,
there's not one person that would be like that's a
bad idea. Who doesn't think it's a great idea. If
you made the Super Bowl Sunday followed by President's Day Monday,
there's not one human that would be like, not a
brad idea except spot apparently.
Speaker 9 (29:55):
What about Bill Belichick would say no days off, and
we say, you know, you're the only ones you could
move up presidents A because presidents say is just an observation.
It's not like occasionally it falls on Lincoln's birthday.
Speaker 3 (30:08):
You know.
Speaker 1 (30:08):
It made me say, speaking of Bill Belichick, Sam, the
fact that he had the huevos to incorporate his girlfriend
in a national ad for Super Bowl. To me, that
shows huge investment in this woman. Some people won't even
post their girlfriend on social media. This guy brought her
onto a national ad for the world to see. So
(30:29):
to me, that says a lot. I'm like, dang hot,
you must have him every time I see them, and
I hope.
Speaker 3 (30:35):
He'd parade her around.
Speaker 1 (30:37):
But you don't look in at risk, man, like, let
me show me proud of her. As a guy who's
been through several failed relationships, Sam, there's nothing more embarrassing
than like vouching for somebody and then like having to
explain everybody like.
Speaker 2 (30:49):
Yeah, I guess it didn't work.
Speaker 4 (30:51):
That's why whenever you invite a new girlfriend to a
wedding or like a family event, always make sure they're
on the end, so when you need to crop the photo,
it's easier.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
So this guy is bringing her super Bowl ads. That's
like a high validation. And I'm sure they got paid.
But it made me say, hmmm, all right, well let's
go to Manci. Someone that's never on the end of
a photo, never right in the center. Who would do
that to her?
Speaker 6 (31:13):
I mean, I am the small one, so I tend
to be in the middle right, Yes, just for the picture.
Speaker 2 (31:17):
You can just cross the bottom half of the photo.
Speaker 1 (31:19):
Sign you hold a sign on every team photo because
you're so little.
Speaker 2 (31:22):
Yeah, exactly, Missus Tompkins, fifth grade. Yeah, you know what
I mean.
Speaker 6 (31:27):
It just makes it look proportioned, you.
Speaker 2 (31:29):
Guys, it's just what it is. Exactly.
Speaker 6 (31:32):
When you're talking about Carrie Underwood, she the clip is
she just looks at the camera. She's like, I'll just sing,
I'll just sing. Oh, it's so good, so good.
Speaker 2 (31:45):
The post super Bowl blues.
Speaker 1 (31:47):
But now we're in the middle of things that made
you go, hmm, super Bowl edition, any of your observations
from the game or this weekend, but mostly the game,
you know, other other than you know, I know, we're
showing a lot of left to the Rocket ad take
Me Home Country Road, the Pringles with.
Speaker 2 (32:06):
The mustaches and before that little Little Caesars.
Speaker 3 (32:09):
Prior to that with the eyebrows flying. Oh eyebrows, that
was Little Caesars. And then Pringles did the mustache flying. Okay,
so they did Eugene Levi's eyebrows. I was like, who
bit who?
Speaker 2 (32:20):
I think they like? Is it V?
Speaker 1 (32:24):
I think it was a callback, you know what I mean,
Like it was a callback of comedy kind of like
I think it.
Speaker 2 (32:30):
Was meant to Yeah, I think.
Speaker 1 (32:33):
I mean I've seen both speculated in articles about Super
Bowl ads again, much like the overall feeling.
Speaker 2 (32:41):
Of the game and the performance kind of a mid
the commercials.
Speaker 3 (32:46):
Some decent ones. The Michelob Michelob Ultra was good, the
pickle Ball.
Speaker 4 (32:51):
I thought the McConaughey one was funny. They've all conspiracy.
Speaker 1 (32:57):
The age of being excited for Super Bowl ads is
is kind of done simply because we've seen all the
on social media. They get leaked ahead of time, so like,
is just not there?
Speaker 3 (33:07):
Does that have to happen?
Speaker 2 (33:08):
It's strategicy, I know, but they they need to change that.
Speaker 1 (33:12):
Well, they want to get it out there at Danny Sell,
like for instance, the Helman's Male one where it was
Billy Crystal and Meg Ryango reenacting when Harry met Sally,
and then Sydney Sweeney's I'll have what Cheese having. If
I had seen that for the first time yesterday, I
would have been like, oh, hell, you know it was cool.
But I saw it on like TikTok to. You just
explained why the company shouldn't leak, exactly like we had
(33:35):
Seal on the show last week. We watched the ad
before he came on and knew about it. But if
I had Seed, like, oh my.
Speaker 2 (33:41):
God, I can't believe they made Seal a seal.
Speaker 1 (33:43):
Other observations, any commercial takeaways, let us know at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox.
Speaker 2 (33:49):
We'll get your feedback.
Speaker 1 (33:51):
I realized last night made me say, hmm, I guess
I'm gonna have to invest in some flair bottom jeans.
I guess they're coming back. As as of yesterday, those
bell bottoms were ugly on swing, the bottoms like more
of a flake people being bottom.
Speaker 2 (34:05):
You know.
Speaker 1 (34:05):
Either way, I'm wondering, Wow, is this the comeback? Does
this mark the star of.
Speaker 2 (34:10):
I wanted to see his shoes. I wanted to see
what shoes he's wearing. He was wearing platform shoes, like
can we hear okay platform nikes? Yeah, you know what.
I thought it was interesting too. I noticed these.
Speaker 1 (34:20):
Things a lot, and I immediately noticed it. And I'm
shocked at like half the people at my house were like,
oh yeah, I guess So you didn't immediately notice the
lower third graphic the score. It was the most simple,
very very basic.
Speaker 2 (34:35):
I didn't hate it. You saw more of the field.
It was the most basic, simple p h I and casey.
Speaker 1 (34:42):
No bold and easy to follow package like a high
school av package. Yeah, I noticed it, it said, I
saw a funny tweeted said, who let grunk design graphics package?
But you know, it seemed it seemed very simple. And
of course people were talking about that.
Speaker 3 (35:00):
Get a Gronk. Remember Tom Brady running out of the batteries.
Oh that was yeah, and she's like, oh boy, gronk
again and she walks off to change his batteries.
Speaker 2 (35:08):
Dura cell commercial.
Speaker 1 (35:10):
So again, any of your takeaways from the game from
last night, you know, let us know at eight seven,
seven ninety nine on Fox And if you can't call
at Covino and Rich it's your Super Bowl edition of
things that made you go hmm, by the way, I'm
seeing the turning point of the Super Bowl, you know,
you think about when did it go from like ooh,
can Mahomes make a sweet come back? To you know,
(35:31):
this game stinks and it's over with a minute forty
left in the half, when Philly was up seventeen to nothing,
and you're like, all right, they got a minute forty something,
they get a field goal, that it's seventeen to three,
two score game, they get the ball, or even if
Mahomes scores a touchdown, it's a ten point game. When
he threw Is that when he threw that interception and
then Philly scored like a play later or so when
(35:53):
it was twenty four to nothing, that was it.
Speaker 2 (35:54):
That was the to me. That's when you're like, oh,
this is not happening.
Speaker 3 (35:58):
How about when Hopkins dropped wide open pass and he
had all that green in front of him?
Speaker 10 (36:02):
Oh?
Speaker 2 (36:03):
Is that when Chris Jones like fell to his knees.
Speaker 3 (36:05):
Yes, God, And I think all Chiefs fans must have
felt like that. Anyone who gambled on the Chiefs must
have felt like that. And their body language after that
it was like they were done.
Speaker 2 (36:15):
How about this?
Speaker 1 (36:15):
You know what made me say, hmmm, how Jalen Hurts
won in grand fashion because Saquon Barkley wasn't much of
an impact player during the game.
Speaker 2 (36:24):
What do you have fifty something yards? Yeah, the two
yards of carry.
Speaker 1 (36:28):
Yeah, so he wasn't much of a factor here and
Jalen Hurts was able to step up make some great
plays and really dominate the game. So, you know, props
to him, and happy birthday to Saquon and the genet.
I got two more quickie things that maybe go h
and we'll get to your feedback. I just saw the
(36:49):
Gatorade dump again. I think it's a top five Gatoray
dump of all time. You know what, they nailed it.
There was no miss. It was like Sirianna got blasted.
Speaker 9 (36:59):
Headphones flew off his head, his hood came up over
his head and then kind of sat.
Speaker 2 (37:04):
There and it looked cool. Was good.
Speaker 3 (37:06):
It was.
Speaker 1 (37:06):
It was a very clear and they did a little
like maneuver to get there, and they did it early.
Wasn't suspecting it. They did right, They did a little
sneak around and then you saw it was Adre Brown, right,
he was part of that was the DeVante Smith. I'm
forgetting they did was part of it. They did a
little sneak around and it was a good one. And
(37:28):
the other observation was, did you hear if you if
you feel like you need a little Monday a Monday cry?
Did you hear the voicemail the message that Saquan's daughter
left him before the game? Have you got kids, especially
a daughter? You might cry after you listen to this.
(38:03):
I really really really hope you when and that even
I'm really thankful that you've.
Speaker 5 (38:10):
Been caring for your whole family.
Speaker 10 (38:12):
And I know you're gonna win, but if you don't,
that is okay.
Speaker 7 (38:17):
I'll always always love you, and I see you always
love your.
Speaker 10 (38:22):
Family would always love you, and your mother and father
would always love you. O family would always love you
no matter.
Speaker 11 (38:28):
What you do.
Speaker 1 (38:31):
I love you so much, Sady for taking care of
me and Sta and mommy big blessing.
Speaker 2 (38:39):
I love you, Daddy. What that drone behind?
Speaker 3 (38:47):
I thought that was you playing organ underneath of it? Rich?
Speaker 2 (38:50):
It was Rich trying to play like sentimental music.
Speaker 5 (38:53):
Moment.
Speaker 1 (38:54):
Yeah, the one thing that makes me want to cry
about that is the fact that it eventually turns into
them rolling their eyes at you. And they're teenagers, so yeah,
that makes me want to cry. But no, speaking of kids,
that was a sentimental moment, but you already mentioned Sirianni's
kid and Bradley Cooper's kid. I was impressed that they
knew how to spell eagles and yet their own mayor
(39:15):
did not to spell eagles.
Speaker 2 (39:16):
So I thought that was kind of made me say hmmm.
Speaker 3 (39:18):
For the first time ever in my life, I tried.
I attempted to watch a Super Bowl with a toddler
running around.
Speaker 2 (39:23):
Oh yeah, Lord, sandhelp, Yeah yeah, leave him in the
kitty room, keep them at the kitty table.
Speaker 1 (39:30):
Let's go to your feedback things that made you go hm,
whether it's commercials, halftime, the game.
Speaker 2 (39:36):
Let's start with Ryan and Seattle. What's up Ryan?
Speaker 10 (39:39):
They totally agree, the Hopkins drop and the not getting
three points before halftime. But one play that I haven't
heard talked about yet. And I'm not a Chiefs hater
or a Kelsey hater, but I think it was early
third quarter. I thought it wasn't over yet, and then
Kelsey had that. It was about third and fourteen. Kelsey
(40:04):
got about ten yards and then he didn't fight for
the four more Yards.
Speaker 5 (40:07):
Do you guys remember that play?
Speaker 1 (40:08):
Yeah, it's a play where there are times where Kelsey
was like somehow found a way, But.
Speaker 2 (40:12):
Yeah it did. It wasn't there day. Man, It's just
again I said it.
Speaker 1 (40:16):
He came in with a really bold outfit. I don't
know if you saw that a disco star. He looked
like he was, you know, in a seventies throwback sort
of shaft kind of mode.
Speaker 2 (40:25):
He had on some seventies gear. It looked like with
some cool shade.
Speaker 3 (40:29):
Looked like a Saturday Night Live skit.
Speaker 2 (40:31):
Yeah, when you roll in like that, you gotta play big.
Speaker 1 (40:34):
I feel like it didn't match the vibe, so it
just was more embarrassing.
Speaker 2 (40:39):
Take a look. Not a lot of tailor swift shots either.
Speaker 1 (40:41):
I made me say, NFL Network replaying the game, now,
take a look at the lower third. Is it clean
or too elementary? Like when you look at it, clean it.
It's not blocking much of the game at all. And
I think, you know, sometimes the graphics get a bit
you know, intrusive where it's taken up like you know,
a portion of the screen like really simple clean.
Speaker 2 (41:00):
I like it. No complaints for me.
Speaker 1 (41:02):
What was the over underarm shots to Taylor Swift, Well
the under hit because I feel I was We saw
her just in the beginning she got booed and that
was it. And what did they catch her saying like,
what is happening something like that, what's going on?
Speaker 2 (41:16):
What's going on after the booze?
Speaker 6 (41:19):
Yeah, well yeah, they're booing you because you're dating a
Chief And it.
Speaker 2 (41:23):
Was seventy five Eagles fans.
Speaker 3 (41:25):
Yeah, oh yeah, well we knew that because of opening night.
Speaker 2 (41:29):
Yeah, we were there all weekend, Danny.
Speaker 1 (41:30):
Danny points out, he goes, yo, look up everyone and
everyone in that Superdome, with the exception of a couple
of Chiefs fan there was a lot of green up.
Speaker 9 (41:41):
And they were allowed to. And you remember, this is
the same fan base that you know decades ago through
snowballs at Santa Claus.
Speaker 2 (41:47):
You'll never live that down. Huh. They're gonna they're gonna
boo Taylor Swift. That's just that's totally par for them,
no doubt.
Speaker 1 (41:54):
So here here's my question, based off of everything we
saw yesterday. We talked about the halftime show, we talked
about the shows, we taught, we covered it all like
everyone else has. Jalen hurts when you went into this
postseason storylines, Will Mahomes three, Pete Josh Allen, MVP Halie
(42:15):
Steinfeld engaged. Is this his year that the Bill's Mafia
finally get one? Lamar Jackson having one of the best
runs of quarterback ever had was this year He's gonna
get over the hump the Lions fifteen and two? Is
Campbell take them all the way? Minnesota with with Sam Donald? Like,
the Eagles are like the sixth storyline, and I think
(42:37):
because of that, they were like under the radar. So
much of the season was a big storyline, was a
big story Yeah, maybe it was just I feel like
you knew they were a solid team and there was
not a lot of drama around them. They were just
consistently solid and then Jaden Daniels emerging. I really think
that there was a sense of the Eagles, for as
(42:57):
big of a market team they were, I think they
were really sort of under the radar. So now you
got to ask yourself when everyone talks about the greats
and who's the elite quarterbacks, that eye rolling conversation, who's elite?
Guess who doesn't have a Super Bowl? Lamar Jackson, Josh
Allen Justin, Herbert, Joe Burrow. Oh and mind you, Jalen
Hurts has been at two of them. Yeah, so now
(43:19):
you got what twenty six? You got to say to yourself, Well,
where does Jalen Hurts fit into the conversation?
Speaker 2 (43:24):
If he's been to two Super Bowls and he won.
Speaker 1 (43:26):
One, who's in the conversation if he wasn't before and
now he is, and he's got a win where they
don't and he beat what we were calling the next goat,
So major bragging rights for the guy.
Speaker 2 (43:36):
If that's how you get in the conversation.
Speaker 1 (43:37):
If you're judged on winning and losing. We had this
conversation in the beginning of the season. Remember we named
all the young quarterbacks in the league, and we're like,
you think they'll win one? And we're like, well, guess
what we just named like twenty young quarterbacks. Maybe four
of them will win one. Mark Jalen Hurts down.
Speaker 3 (43:55):
I don't think anybody was in unison saying that they
thought Hurts was gonna win one. And now there were
topics on TV today, is this the start of a
new dynasty in the NFL? Well, the Eagles do it
again and honestly, except and I got to give our
show props. We goof on ourselves all the time when
we're wrong, and that's often the case more than being right.
(44:16):
But all the way back to the weekend prior when
we were in Vegas for the Benavitas fight, we were
talking about Jalen Hurts and who has more motivation, and
you guys were arguing about it a lot, and that
kicked off the week in New Orleans as well, because
the storylines were mahomes, mahomes, mahomes, Chiefs three Peete and
we talked about that, Rich, remember, because you were saying, hey, man,
(44:38):
it's history, it's history. And Covino's argument was, well, the
Eagles are hungry. Or remember Hurts sitting at his locker
room emotional saying, I dropped the ball in that last
Super Bowl. I'm going to be back. I'm going to
have revenge. And we said that we thought the Eagles
had a lot to play for, especially Hurts. We were
not hearing that. We weren't hearing the Jalen Hurts storyline
(44:58):
as much as I thought we would. And then every
day suddenly this morning it's Jalen Hurts as the headline
and of course he should because he's the MVP. But
how many of these media dudes pivoted so quickly when
they were slobbering all over mahomes the past couple of weeks.
Speaker 2 (45:14):
They absolutely were so right about that.
Speaker 1 (45:18):
We play a post NFL season round of do you
think they'll ever win? Because we got Jalen Hurts winning one. Manzi,
I want you to know this, okay, because we did
this at the beginning of the season and everyone's like,
oh yeah, oh yeah. The answer was yes to too many,
And you got to remind yourself. Dynasties happen. Guys win
more than once. You know, there's been legends like Dan
(45:41):
Marino that walked away with zero, right. I mean, let's
start and I'll name some people. You tell me, will
they ever at a Super Bowl? So every career?
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Will they ein?
Speaker 1 (45:52):
Because you saw I got like Philip Rivers right, like
whole season, whole career, Josh Allen, No.
Speaker 2 (45:59):
I've changed my stance on him. You think he'll never never.
Speaker 1 (46:02):
They're the quints essential like really great, really good, never
get their kind of team.
Speaker 2 (46:09):
Damn. You would think though, because he's so great, I
get it.
Speaker 6 (46:12):
I thought he was done, and he changed my mind
to yes.
Speaker 3 (46:15):
Okay, I think he would have gave the the Eagles
a better game yesterday.
Speaker 2 (46:21):
I agree with you.
Speaker 3 (46:23):
I do think Alan's going to get one Super Bowl ring.
Speaker 2 (46:26):
At some point. Yeah, yes, Sam spot anyone.
Speaker 9 (46:29):
Yeah, I agreat Yeah, yeah, yeah, just because he's athletic
enough and there. But it's like when you're in the
AFC and you have to get rid of the Chiefs
just to get to the Super Bowl to then beat
the NFC team. That's actually harder to do than being
the NFC team. Just getting one shot against the Chiefs
and then your Super Bowl tea.
Speaker 2 (46:46):
But didn't we all think that this was the year
to do it and he didn't. But I hate to
say it. I hate to say it. I'm a Carino.
How many of those opportunities I had a great window
to do it.
Speaker 3 (46:55):
This we actually heard in the preseason, Oh the Bills
are taking a step back. Remember that was a narrative
of that was that was and they surprised a lot
of people with how great of a season they are.
Speaker 1 (47:06):
Yeah, I got one for you. Ready, Well, hold on,
let's keep this in mind. As he gets older, he's
gonna have to adjust his game. He can't be reckless
like that forever forever either, so, but he could he
make those adjustments. Joe Burrow, Yes, I think because they
were there and they played well, I think they'll get back.
(47:26):
I think he's a guy that could carry a team
through the postseason if he's hot and he has that
team though, that's the thing.
Speaker 3 (47:32):
The ownership around him.
Speaker 6 (47:35):
Question whether he can do it. He can do it,
but it's a team of sport.
Speaker 1 (47:39):
Right Lamar Jackson, Yes, there will be a year he
gets over the hump.
Speaker 2 (47:45):
What do you think, Cove, Yes, I think so.
Speaker 1 (47:48):
Man, yes, if there if there is a god, yeah,
he had he has to win, man, he's too good to.
Speaker 2 (47:54):
Not win one. They got Derrick Henry.
Speaker 1 (47:56):
If they still, if they continue to build around him
and this team, I think they could do it. The
funny part is we keep thinking of the same big guys, right,
but then as they get older, the bow Nixes of
the world and.
Speaker 6 (48:09):
Janiel But are you talking about AFC.
Speaker 1 (48:12):
We take Strouds of the world, there's gonna be other guys.
That's Star Levice's of the world.
Speaker 2 (48:16):
No, that's right, it's cute, you know. Sanders Drake, Yeah,
so you never know. How about this one. Jordan's Love
in Green Bay.
Speaker 9 (48:27):
I'm gonna say I'm just as a Packer fan, I'm
gonna say no, Wow, Yeah, I.
Speaker 2 (48:32):
Good too early, So I'm saying no.
Speaker 3 (48:34):
If you're a fan, you're supposed to say yes.
Speaker 9 (48:36):
But I'm being I'm I look at him and I'm
like out of far Rogers in love and I haven't
seen enough of him yet. Not a big sample size,
not a big enough sample size. I just feel like
it's not gonna happen.
Speaker 1 (48:46):
And not to name drop, but we talked to Drew
Brees about all these young quarterbacks on radio Row Drew Brees,
my boy. We talked to him last week and he
was just going on and on about how much great
talent there is in the quarterback position. So, you know,
it is interesting to think about that not everybody's gonna
win one. Speaking of your boy, Drew Brees, he spoke
(49:07):
highly of Jaden Daniels. Was this year the oh my god, shocking,
like they surprised us, but back to like, you know,
good team. But will Jaden Daniels and the Commanders win
a Super Bowl?
Speaker 10 (49:19):
Bro?
Speaker 3 (49:20):
He's so poised.
Speaker 6 (49:21):
He is so poised that I think he has a
real chance. I actually don't even see a sophomore slump
coming from him.
Speaker 2 (49:29):
But you know, you got to ask yourself.
Speaker 1 (49:31):
A guy, like a guy that's a quarterback in the
NFL usually has a good tennish years, right, So that
means all these other people somehow you will you're fitting
in a commander's Super Bowl win. Yeah, and we spoke
the same way about CJ. Shroud too, so you got
to throw him in the conversation.
Speaker 2 (49:48):
There's a lot of guys in the waiting line right now.
There's a lot of talent.
Speaker 1 (49:53):
Can I compare it to the coniest thing you'll ever
hear me say? Oh, so you ever watched The Bachelor
and he's got like twenty hot chicks And it's.
Speaker 2 (50:00):
Like, yeah, some hot tricks just go home and never
get the rose. Some of the reportable name is analogy
but so good at the same time.
Speaker 1 (50:07):
Yeah, it's like some yo in my hometown on the
Hottest Chick. Well, guess what, You're not getting a rose
on The Bachelor. I'm sorry, sorry, Jessica, it's so you know.
And by the way, a new episode tonight. I need
something to help me get over this Super Bowl blues.
I haven't started the season, so we're too intimidated. That's
like eight hours of catching up because too much Bachelor.
Speaker 3 (50:29):
Richie Davis really quick. I got a name for you,
Rock Party.
Speaker 2 (50:32):
Yes, you think he's gonna win a suit like a
true fan. I didn't even think about like a true fan.
Speaker 1 (50:38):
By the way, we got a big scoop over this
past super Bowl week. We had the most random combo
of Seal, the singer, the artist Seal and Deebo Samuel,
and Deebo spoke so highly Seal.
Speaker 2 (50:51):
The spokesman for Es, same guy. I thought you're talking
about Flex Seal.
Speaker 1 (50:58):
No, but I promise you you ever see Seal flex
though not Phil Swift, the inventor of flex Seals. Sam
the singer Seal. We had him and Deebo Samuel on
the show and we saw firsthand, and you heard firsthand
that Deebo had nothing but wonderful things to say about
playing with Brock Purty So and that's coming.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
From a guy that's probably never gonna play with him again.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
The fact that he says he wants to trade, you
know from hearing this on Fox Sports Radio. That had
nothing to do with the quarterback situation or what he
thought of Brock because he seemed to really really admire him.
He talked about his poise. Yeah, talked about like he's
the guy. Remember he even defended him when you said
they got lucky with him.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
He's you know. He was really.
Speaker 3 (51:39):
Talked about his command in the huddle and how amazing
of a leader he is.
Speaker 1 (51:43):
Yeah, he went on and he was gushing basically over
brock Party. So the fact that he requested a trade
goes to show you that he doesn't like where the
team direction's going and where the leadership is aside from
quarterback situation. So based on that Rich, I think brock
perty is not in a good situation. Has it dawn
done anyone in this room that I may have thrown
the last pass to Deebo Samuel as the forty nine
(52:05):
er Tweebo to Deebo goes down in history.
Speaker 2 (52:08):
Webo to Debot, that was good? Did you write that
ahead of time comedy? That was good?
Speaker 1 (52:17):
If you go to Cavino on Ritch on Instagram, I
threw him a pass for good. Look I saw yeah,
and I taught me like, oh my god, he might
not even been on the team.
Speaker 2 (52:25):
Did I throw the last.
Speaker 1 (52:27):
Tuddy oh well, well again to answer your question, brock Party,
though to me, it just shows that something's not stirring
the kool aid or something's not right in San Francisco?
Speaker 3 (52:39):
Is it your head coach rich right? Like, why would
he want your general manager who's rubbing deebo the wrong?
Speaker 1 (52:43):
I mean, because you know, listen for every great organization, right,
there's someone unhappy you could talk about like Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (52:49):
I really do feel like we have great leadership.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
But it's gonna be I'm sure there's one or two
hosts or like unhappy. No matter what, you're not gonna
have fifty three guys unhappy. Just sucks that one of
those unhappy. Are you your stars? Let me give you
two more names than we'll take your feedback, stars Stars,
Dash Darscott, Well Jack Prescott.
Speaker 3 (53:08):
Everyone think so not as long as Jarah who is alive.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
That's true.
Speaker 1 (53:15):
And by the way, I would never root against any
of these people. These are all great stories if they
were to win. But no, I don't think so at
curtains to the stadium.
Speaker 9 (53:24):
Only if they have curtains, that's good to the damn
SHA keeps skinning in my eyes.
Speaker 2 (53:28):
Yeah, they then I'm a.
Speaker 3 (53:31):
Monkey fan.
Speaker 10 (53:35):
You Rich.
Speaker 2 (53:38):
Caleb Williams, Uh shut up about the sun?
Speaker 1 (53:44):
Too soon to tell with Caleb, Yeah, you can't make
that assessment yet I didn't.
Speaker 2 (53:49):
How about uh, he said c J. Stroud. Let me say,
Kyler Murray, we say no way, but yeah, no, I
haven't felt I don't think so.
Speaker 1 (53:59):
No, But then again, you didn't think the Eagles would
be back so soon.
Speaker 4 (54:04):
Are some of these younger names going to be given
enough time to grow or are they going to be
in and out like most How.
Speaker 2 (54:10):
About the quarterback of Monzi's team, Justin Herbert? Justin Herbert?
How do you beat him out?
Speaker 5 (54:16):
I want to.
Speaker 6 (54:17):
Say yes, I think with the coach, I see we
have a back to.
Speaker 2 (54:22):
Rich's analogy not everybody gets. But that's what's crazy.
Speaker 1 (54:26):
I thought it was like, yeah, most of these quarterbacks
will retire with that one, and wow, justin such talent.
Speaker 2 (54:33):
Justin Herbert. He gets a hometown date, but it's after
that he's going home.
Speaker 1 (54:38):
He gets a hometown date, he'll make the playoffs, he'll
go on some runs, but yo, he's uh, he's not
going to the fantas.
Speaker 6 (54:44):
Can't wait to show you that. He goes to the
fantasy suites.
Speaker 1 (54:47):
They say, you know, based on that convo, man, it
really does put Jalen Hurts in perspective because he's got
something that none of those dudes have. Major an he
beat Mahomes to do it, so major props to have
got bad news too for all these other quarterbacks waiting
in line. Guess who's won five at a last last
eight super Bowls? The Eagles and the Chiefs. So it's
(55:07):
like there's such a little room to get in there. Yeah,
and you know what Burrow Allan, Lamar Love, Purty, Dak Jayden,
Daniel c J Strad, Kyler Murray and then I'm not
even naming like the you know, like the Caleb Williams
of the world and Justin Herbert and Trevor Lawrence. Do
we just say he's.
Speaker 2 (55:26):
Done on it? Do we assume that just a done story?
Speaker 10 (55:29):
Yes?
Speaker 2 (55:29):
Note on that team. Yeah, yeah, so we shall see Sam.
Speaker 1 (55:37):
You played Number one by Nelly, which ironically is one
of his few songs that did not go to number
one in the two thousands. But it's a good song
and shout outs to the Eagles and Jalen Hurts, who
is now a champion. Man.
Speaker 2 (55:49):
That's that that to.
Speaker 1 (55:50):
Me, is something that changes the narrative of a lot
of the young generation of quarterbacks. It's Jalen's now been
to two one one. That's can I give you this analogy.
It's it's when we've used over and over again, Rich,
but I have to do it one more time.
Speaker 2 (56:03):
It's fitting.
Speaker 1 (56:04):
It's like when Tyson fought Douglas and you think that
Tyson's still going to come back. Tyson being the Chiefs here,
you still think they're gonna come back, They're gonna come back.
But in reality, Tyson just got his ass whooped the
entire game. And that's what the Eagles did to the Chiefs.
They just whooped their ass the entire game. Dude, just
too powerful, too dominant, and Mahomes had no answers. And
(56:26):
after an extensive halftime you heard it, you saw it.
They made no adjustments that were impactful whatsoever. They clambered them,
clambered them. So Jalen hurtson just win. He dominated that game.
Let's say, what's up to Big Bert in Georgia. He
had some thoughts on the halftime show. Hey, no, after today,
we move forward because there's so much other stuff NBA
(56:48):
Baseball and think about all the offseason NFL stuff we're
going to get into. We haven't even touched on Aaron
Rodgers today because we're ran out of time. Aaron Rodgers
no longer moving forward with the Jets. So you got
to ask yourself, there's a lot of people. Where does
that go now?
Speaker 11 (57:02):
Yeah?
Speaker 1 (57:02):
Up in the air, Cooper Cup, Deebo, Samuel, so many
big names out there. You're like, well, what's going to
happen to them? And the draft will be here before
you know it? Big Bart, what's up?
Speaker 2 (57:11):
Man?
Speaker 11 (57:11):
Hey? I just want to tell you I love Ketchick.
He played above the level of this crowd. It's like
he was fast and serious, strands got sing being John
Malkovich or like you want to see different strokes. But
it's turned out it was a special episode where things
happened to Dudley and you're like, ah.
Speaker 1 (57:28):
You know, that's a great analogy if this is not
your Yeah, but not everyone expected to see Dudley at
the bike shot.
Speaker 3 (57:36):
That's what he's super meaning to a lot of what
was going on. And I think we can all agree.
For a big mass crowd like the super Bowl, you
probably need something simple.
Speaker 2 (57:44):
Yeah, But overall, like I said, it was interesting, for sure.
Speaker 3 (57:47):
I liked it.
Speaker 1 (57:48):
You know what, I do find funny though how people
I don't know if they're faking it or not. I
just I just don't have the energy to care as
much as other people I see on social media, like
in what way? Like you scroll through social media and
I've feel like people are just so mad about a
lot of things, And I'm like.
Speaker 2 (58:02):
All right, like, are you really that mad about the
halftime school? Like so rich?
Speaker 3 (58:05):
Are you saying you wouldn't have joined that large pregame
protest outside American Airline Center Saturday? He's not fat, bring
him back. He's the MAVs fans really mad about.
Speaker 2 (58:17):
You know, dudey must now because Luca left and now
a D's hurt.
Speaker 3 (58:21):
Yeah, what a nightmare. A lot of the complaints from
the unhappy Maps fans or why would we trade our
future and our franchise guy for a thirty one year
old who's hurt all the time? He balled out first
half of the game, in the beginning of the third
quarter twenty six points, sixteen rebounds, seven assists, three blocks
in thirty one minutes, and then lower body injury took
(58:44):
him out in the third quarter.
Speaker 2 (58:45):
In one strain O bleak or whatever. No, someone stabbed
he someone on Anthony Davis voodo doll and just that
that's what happened.
Speaker 1 (58:51):
He went No, seriously, maybe he overextended himself because it
was such an impactful and.
Speaker 3 (58:56):
He already had that ab strain, so his body could
have been over compensating.
Speaker 2 (59:00):
He has a lot to prove.
Speaker 1 (59:01):
He has been very vocal about he knows what Luca
meant to that organization. But he's going to bring his
own vibe and his own domination. So a lot online,
a lot to bring. And now he's hurt for he's
going to be on for weeks. Yeah, could drag to
him money that is insult to injury man pun intended.
That's just misery for the Mavericks. And then the rescinded
(59:22):
trade of Mark Williams. You referred to that earlier.
Speaker 3 (59:25):
Rich. Of course, the Lakers thought they had their center.
They're big guy for right now. And kind of a
juicy story came out from bleacher Report this morning saying
that Luca's team was the one behind wanting Williams, like
Polinka worked with Lucas team immediately and that that was
who Luca pinpointed as the center that he wanted to
(59:46):
play with because he loves guys that can lob and
play the pick and roll with.
Speaker 2 (59:50):
Can they still get Dwight Howard right?
Speaker 3 (59:51):
And then this story was, oh my god, Lebron's team,
how are they going to feel about this because Lebron's
been asking for different guys forever.
Speaker 1 (59:58):
But that's the weakest because now they both have to
go back to their former team. That's like going back
Just kidding, Dalton, I don't know, just going back to
an X after they told you didn't want you anymore.
Speaker 2 (01:00:08):
Just kidding. Connect.
Speaker 1 (01:00:10):
We love you, I We'll see you guys tomorrow. Have
a great Monday. I'll read it there to you, baby.
See you in a Promised Land by
