Speaker 2 (00:16):
On the iHeartRadio app by searching the FSR. We got
to talk about Brett Favor. Ever heard of him?
Speaker 1 (00:25):
We heard Clared Pick in the NFL draft, the Falcons
choose Brett Favor.
Speaker 3 (00:30):
You know what.
Speaker 1 (00:32):
I remember Oval Reddenbacher choosing Brett Favor to the Falcons.
Speaker 2 (00:36):
I don't remember that. I don't favor.
Speaker 1 (00:39):
And then Chris Berman there with the rescue with the
assist making a joke out of it, and the favor
to pick Farv. Great job there, Berman, But Brett Fav.
The Fall of Farv, I'm told on Netflix, debuted last night.
We talked about it briefly yesterday just to hype you
up for it, but we all watched it.
Speaker 2 (01:00):
What are your thoughts, what were your takeaways?
Speaker 1 (01:02):
And Here's what's crazy about life and the news cycle
that we live in, especially in today's world, more now
than ever, is how quickly you forget like we remember
the story, but you don't remember all the details. And
when they're compiled into one untold documentary, you're like, yeah, damn,
Brett Farv how'd he get away.
Speaker 2 (01:21):
With Brett farrash?
Speaker 1 (01:24):
Yo? Man, you were a great football player and all,
but this good old boy did some shady stuff. I
think it was best summed up by that Green Bay
reporter who was asked to do a story about Brett
Farvre the family man, and he's like, I don't write fiction.
Speaker 2 (01:42):
That was a great line.
Speaker 1 (01:44):
It was with our trend of Brett Farvest trash. Your takeaways,
you know, there's a few one of them, and this
wasn't even what made him trash. Yeah, like, what did
you forget about? What did you learn for the first time?
Has your opinion changed? I think it should have, I do.
(02:05):
I mean, you could separate the people. He was a
great football player, yeah, but gunslinger, as they pointed out
twenty five times they did. And you know what, he
did throw harder than the average quarterback, noticeably raking fingers.
You know, great quarterback, but not a great guy. And
(02:25):
I think a lot of us chose to forget about that.
We did not no, but we were reminded of other things.
Even I was watching last night Rich and I was like, yeah,
I forgot about that part. So what were your takeaways,
guys eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. Let's start
off with Rich eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox.
My big takeaway that has nothing to do with him
(02:45):
being trash.
Speaker 2 (02:46):
We'll get to that.
Speaker 1 (02:47):
I absolutely forgot that he adamantly retired twice and then
came out of retirement quickly after.
Speaker 2 (02:54):
I forgot how annoying the I will never play another
game but thing.
Speaker 1 (02:59):
But then we know because he played for the Jets
and then he played for the Vikings. But you're right,
I forgot how it went down as well, because again,
we live in the time of next, the next story, nex,
what's the next story? And then you move on and
you forget a little bit. I think we owe Tom
Brady and Aaron Rodgers an apology because their retirement hoaxes
(03:21):
or comebacks or anything nothing compared to Brett Farve's double
doozy of I'll'll ever play again by two back and
then back again, like what a pain in the ass
now and trash, By the way, when you watched the
Inappropriate picture portion of the story. Yeah, I was reminded
(03:45):
just how much it affected Jen Sturger, Like we knew that,
and Rich you could explain why and how we knew that.
I mean, I forgot that she was doing that much
in the industry. She really had a great thing own.
What I don't want to do is this is not
about me. I don't want to I don't want to
insert myself. But the reality is I was dating Jen
(04:07):
during the time of this happening, and and spot or
Video Guy was her roommate. So I mean, when you
talk about being close to a story, no one could
be closer. That's why it was extra weird for us
to watch. I was oddly oddly emotional watching this.
Speaker 2 (04:22):
I really was. I lack empathy, Rich.
Speaker 4 (04:25):
Rich In spots should have been in this documentary.
Speaker 1 (04:28):
I mean, I'm not even joking, you know, really me
because there were two like they had biased opinions.
Speaker 2 (04:32):
Throw me in there.
Speaker 1 (04:33):
You know what was in this documentary my living room
and my plant, which I still have.
Speaker 2 (04:38):
That's right, that we could you know what I were like,
Wait a minute, is that your plant?
Speaker 1 (04:41):
So trust our perspectives and we'd love to hear yours.
Eight seven seven ninety nine O Fox because we've known
her for years. Yeah, Rich really knew her on a
different level. Spot lived with her. She was a frequent
guest on our show, and it was a sad time.
But like I said, being so close, I knew her
(05:02):
as Jen and I knew she loves sports, and I
knew she was doing cool stuff. But when you see
it compiled all the things that she did in the past,
she created, and the opportunity she created for herself, You're like,
damn man, one guy's wiener shot got in the way
of all of that momentum.
Speaker 2 (05:18):
That's a shame.
Speaker 1 (05:18):
And I said to Covino to give an analogy. Who
does it better than me? Maybe Colin Stars. Just because
you label yourself to guy with the analogies doesn't make
you the best at them.
Speaker 2 (05:32):
Eventually it gets in your head. I think we all
give analogy. I'm mine of the best. I said to Cavino.
Speaker 1 (05:37):
That would be like if when your career was just
starting to starting to take off, I'm waiting for it
to take it, when when we were in the early
days of maximum and serious exam, when our show was
really starting to gain some steam, that would be like,
in that moment, a girl set you a boob pick
and because of that, your career got derailed. Yeah, that's
not fair. Man. Doesn't seem fair now, does it? No,
(06:00):
not at all. And I think we were completely reminded
at what a different time it was. And I wish
they brought this point home more. We made this point yesterday,
but let's repeat it again. That happened in today's world,
it would never go down like that, It just wouldn't.
And I understand that Brett Farre was a football god
and still is to a lot of people, but what
(06:23):
he did was wrong. And in today's world, you know,
Jen would have been a victim and Brett Farr would
have had to answer a lot of questions back then.
Back then, they pushed her aside and he was a hero,
which is terrible. As Jen said, she lost her show,
She had a TV show that was canceled, and Brett
Farr was inducted into the Hall of Fame and his
life went on and he was the greatest and he's
(06:44):
doing copperfit sock commercials right, So it's like it didn't
affect him, but it completely affected her.
Speaker 2 (06:51):
Today's world, the me too movement happened.
Speaker 1 (06:54):
Anytime someone missteps or does something crazy like that, it's
big news man and and you're canceled. Dude, Brett farre
was still a hero, and unfortunately Jen paid the price
and her career took a hit as a result. And
to fash forward to the second part of the docum,
probably rich, It probably affected your relationship. I mean, no doubt,
(07:18):
that's a whole weird discussions friendships. I mean, yeah, it listen,
it's an awful scenario. And you know who doesn't get
enough blame that dirt bag and dead spind that AJ guy,
because you know, had he not blown up the story
about Jen receiving the lude text and everything, then it
would have just been an awful experience for her that
(07:41):
she would have had to remember and have dealt with.
But by him exploiting that and blowing it up and
paying someone to hack her, which is next level. Was
cool about this untold documentary is that she had the receipts.
Because even if you were close to this story, even
if you paid close tention attention to the story, there
(08:01):
was still a part of you that.
Speaker 2 (08:02):
Thought, really she was act come on, you know, or you.
Speaker 1 (08:09):
Had this impression that maybe she was flirty with Brett Farv.
But you learn right from the source that she never
even met the thing, and that was always the thing.
That's a big, big revelation. That was always the thing
that Cavino spot and myself always found wild from knowing
Jen very well, as people would assume that because she
(08:30):
was a good looking girl. Jen's a great person, and
I think people would assume she was looking for opportunity, right.
I think that one of the biggest takeaways is that
you're right. We knew it, because again we're close to
the story at the time, but we always knew that.
You know, Jen had never met him, never shook his hand,
and he was just a creep trying to.
Speaker 2 (08:49):
Kick it to her. I remember that, but I forgot.
Speaker 1 (08:51):
And the fact that they've never met and he's so
cavalierly is like whatever, Like guy is what did I say,
Brett Farv's Matt Barbou's trash. The guy's a piece of ass,
really and uh, to be honest, Pisa ass, No, he's
no piece of ass like that. He's got a little
(09:12):
dinky to my dinky was that small wild? You had
never sent it to anyone any wore crocs in the photos.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
That was a little tiny black box that they used
to cover it up.
Speaker 1 (09:22):
You know, if they're gonna blurt out your penis on TV,
you hope they use a bigger box and like Tenny
little Bucks. So again, we understand how the public probably
viewed it. Jen was sexy. She's a good looking girl. Oh,
she was probably flirting with Brett Farv. Even George Stuffinopolis.
Speaker 2 (09:38):
What's his name?
Speaker 1 (09:39):
Uh, George even Stuffagus was insinuating that it was probably flattering, right, Jen,
I mean it is Brett Farv.
Speaker 2 (09:50):
She's like, no, not at all.
Speaker 1 (09:51):
You know, she wasn't looking for that because she really
was trying to make the most of her opportunities in
the sport world.
Speaker 5 (10:00):
What's up?
Speaker 2 (10:01):
dB?
Speaker 5 (10:01):
I thought that her comeback, which was you're insinuating that
I would be flattered, Yeah, was so biting and granted
had happened, you know how many years ago, but that
was probably the second biggest part of that documentary where
you take a step back but just agreed.
Speaker 1 (10:18):
The time and place we're in that a reporter on
ABC Nightly News would insinuate, I mean, Jenny, are you
flattered that one of the best porton all time sent
you as junk?
Speaker 2 (10:27):
Like, oh, you out of your mind.
Speaker 5 (10:29):
Yeah, yeah, this is so easy. This is so interesting
considering your connection. I'm not connected to Brett Favre, but
I was born and raised in Wisconsin. The first game
that he appeared in with the Packers that they put
in this documentary, I was at against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Speaker 4 (10:45):
With that ninety two yard drive.
Speaker 5 (10:47):
It was what a.
Speaker 1 (10:48):
Performer, what a gutsy football player. The separation, you know,
it's wild to me.
Speaker 5 (10:52):
Then in my broadcasting career, you know, like throughout Farv's
later days, the retirement stuff that you mentioned of, like
there were not only like two official retirements. There was
the one that he announced with Green Bay and the
one that he announced with the Jets. It was also
the previous two or three seasons where he always hinted
it and wanted people to, you know, be like, oh,
come back, yeah, but there was never a full announcement
(11:14):
by it. But it is interesting because I was even
asked what I thought about the documentary, and first of all,
I don't think it even should be a FARV documentary.
I figured that there was so much of Jen Sturger
on it and that story and not that the welfare
stuff was just kind of put at the end, but
it was so so dramatic. But also this line of
(11:37):
this timeline of Farv was kind of felt by I
think a lot of the people that had backed him.
And when he went to the Vikings, he no longer
had that aura around him from Packer fans. So everything
that was wrong that he would do wrong, you would
be like, oh, Okay, maybe he isn't the guy that
we thought he was. And so when she says, if
(11:58):
people are telling you who they are, are you know,
believe them. I think that summed up the whole thing.
I actually think it's I didn't learn a lot about
Farv in that scenario, coming from where I came from.
But man, like, he's just, yeah, just not a good guy.
Speaker 1 (12:15):
Listens as someone like we said, who knew Jen well
knows Jen to us.
Speaker 2 (12:21):
I hope there's some redemption for her.
Speaker 1 (12:23):
I hope this leads to a cool opportunity and someone saying, hey,
this this woman got her, you know, her career shot
down because of this. Maybe someone gives her a chance now.
I've thought another telling quote Dan Bayer was from former
Packers coach Mike Sherman. I mean he didn't say it,
but it was quoted in the documentary where Brett Farr
felt so invincible at one point where he went rogue
(12:46):
on a play and Mike Sherman was furious on the sideline,
and Farr's attitude was like, what are you going to do?
Speaker 2 (12:54):
What are you going to do?
Speaker 1 (12:55):
Was the attitude towards his head coach. And listen, when
you when you win a Super Bowl for a all
market team like that, who is so thirsty since the
bart Star early Vince Lombardi days. Of course, this guy's
gonna be a hero. And Brett Favre on the field
can't take away from the fact that he was a warrior,
a gunslinger, one of the toughest sobeast to ever wear
a football uniform. But off the field, it seems like
(13:17):
we got to see what this dude's all about. We
haven't even gotten into the volleyball stadium story yet that
Dan touched on, But that's just another layer of what
help It was a nice court What a trashback story
this is, And again it made me oddly emotional because
of the impact it had on so many people in
so many lives, especially Jen's like and at the time too,
(13:38):
maybe because at the time when we heard about this. Yo, Look,
I'm just a stupid young man at the time. This
is fifteen years ago, you're twenty something. You're an like
what brettforb what?
Speaker 4 (13:48):
No way?
Speaker 1 (13:49):
Not understanding or realizing the ramifications that would eventually come
of it, you know, and ruin poor Jen's career and everything.
And now she has this reputation and this stigma, and
again we you know it, but when you see it
laid out that way, you see how much it affected
her and other people, and you're like, man, this is terrible.
Why do you think Mike Vic by the way, was
(14:10):
he there to be like, hey, I afked with some
dogs and you hate me and this guy does all
this Like.
Speaker 2 (14:14):
What was I think it's the opposite.
Speaker 1 (14:16):
It's like, here, I was the most hated dude, and
now people have accepted me and I've moved forward, and
you're gonna hate Brett Farv even more than you hated me.
Speaker 4 (14:25):
He started the contribution as this is what it's like
being a quarterback in the South, the legendary quarterback.
Speaker 1 (14:31):
Yeah, I think it was, like you think when I
did was bad, Wait till you get a load of
this guy as that Peter Griffy would say, and family guy,
you think that's bad.
Speaker 4 (14:39):
Yeah, And Michael Vick said, the system is rigged. And
so you know, if you are Bret far Iv, you
can get away with some of that.
Speaker 2 (14:46):
Okay. So now here's what I was also reminded of your.
Speaker 1 (14:49):
Takeaways from the Fall of Farv controversial Netflix documentary number one.
Speaker 2 (14:55):
Today.
Speaker 1 (14:56):
We told you to watch it last night, gave you
a homework assignment. Now we want to get to your
phone calls and feedback again. Completely remember the gen thing
we sort of lived in Spot was living with her.
Rich and her were together. She was a friend of
all of ours, and you know, still in contact today.
I totally forgot rich about other Jets employees coming out afterward,
(15:20):
other messuses and people saying that he was sending them
the same sort of mess my hotel and I'm horned up, honestly, Yeah,
I did forget about that. I completely forgot about that
part of the story, just you know, adding so much,
so much to what he was really about and got
(15:45):
away with it. That's the thing he was unscathed for
all these years. So your takeaways, we get to your
phone calls and feedback, and we're going to take you
back to the year two thousand, way back on a
Wednesday time the Knicks. We're in the Eastern Conference Finals.
What else is going on in two thousands? We're gonna
(16:06):
take you back twenty five years. So we're Cavino and
Rich Iowa, Sam's on the Ones and Twoes, Danny g
Super producing spot. Sturger's X roommate is getting ready for
midweek major and we're Cavino and Rich on Fox Sports.
The video not to make light of that terrible story.
And you know, anyway, as we said, Jen hopefully get
(16:27):
some redemption at it.
Speaker 2 (16:28):
I think she.
Speaker 1 (16:29):
Will spot no jokes here, probably one of the first
people to see the terrible text from far from I.
Speaker 2 (16:36):
Guess they were roommates.
Speaker 1 (16:37):
Okay, So here's a question that we were asked earlier
today on our Patreon. Did you guys see the pick spot?
Do you remember the first time you saw the pick?
Speaker 2 (16:46):
I do.
Speaker 3 (16:48):
I for some for some reason, I remember, like I
don't know my space being of I don't know something
was Yeah, so I did see the pick.
Speaker 2 (16:57):
I saw it. It was probably on a foot phone. Yeah,
I saw it on a phone and like what crocs.
Speaker 1 (17:01):
And again, the reality is it would have just been
dirt bag Hall of Famer sent our friend an inappropriate.
Speaker 2 (17:10):
Text, and we kept a secret for like a year
and a half, right.
Speaker 1 (17:12):
Because it was no, it was not our business to share, right,
it was a private story. And it was that dead
Spin guy that I think he's a big part of
what ruined Gen's life.
Speaker 5 (17:23):
He is.
Speaker 4 (17:23):
And one thing you didn't point out rich after he
leaked at a lot of the narrative in the media
is why was she coming out with this? Now, she
didn't come out exactly, but that was yeah.
Speaker 1 (17:34):
He again because she was a good looking girl and
we just had that way of thinking back then. It
was a different time and Brett Farv's a hero. How
dare you?
Speaker 2 (17:42):
So? What did you learn? What were your takeaways?
Speaker 1 (17:44):
And of course we're giving away prizes on this show today,
so stick around. We're going to play some Mike's Wednesday
Words of Wisdom and major but right now live from
the Fox Sports Radio studio, What Up dB.
Speaker 5 (17:57):
Not to not to share stories, but I think that
there's just something that you guys said that you guys
knew about this for a year and not that you
never really thought anything of it, but that also tells
you I think that everybody here probably has a story
about someone who was famous through some connection of a
family member or yourself. That makes you look at someone
(18:18):
else in a little different light than maybe what the
general public does for the famous person, no doubt, but
that also then tells you on to Jen Sturger's problem
of how difficult it is to shake that, or for
Brett Favre to say, what are you going to do
about it? Like that's like that, it's that shield around
this the famous person, or abuse of power.
Speaker 1 (18:42):
It's like Jet said, and that special like he was
a football god and she was a freelance worker.
Speaker 2 (18:47):
For the Jets. Leverage.
Speaker 1 (18:49):
Yeah, it was so much leverage out. It was a
different time. It's sad to see and Dan speaking of
that timeline, I was reminded yesterday again I knew, but
I forgot that this all started to unferl and unfold
when he was with the Vikings.
Speaker 2 (19:06):
That's when he was dodging those questions. Yes, not when
he was with him.
Speaker 1 (19:10):
The reality is, like you said, there's people that tell secrets.
I've We've never been the type of show that if
we get wind of something, we want to break salacious news.
Speaker 2 (19:19):
I feel like that's scumbag behavior. I really was.
Speaker 1 (19:22):
I'm not gonna I won't even say the person on
our show. One time at Serious XM, we did a
pre taped interview. We interviewed a celebrity before our show,
Famous Guy, Famous Guy, and he referenced his boyfriend, and
Cavino chuckled, like he goes, oh, no.
Speaker 2 (19:37):
I The guy was like, I'm gay.
Speaker 1 (19:39):
You know, I've never actually said that, and then after
the interview he said he'd never been asked.
Speaker 2 (19:44):
Yeah, and he's like, I was just he was very
comfortable with us.
Speaker 1 (19:47):
After the interview, his pr people said, hey, listen, you
could do what you want, but he would prefer if
you don't want taking that little part out.
Speaker 2 (19:55):
It was not our place to, in my mind, to
about him.
Speaker 6 (19:58):
I love that because that's such an opposite of like
the tabloids like you guys.
Speaker 1 (20:02):
Just a bit of what happened in this story with
that guy from dead to me, since this guys are like, no,
since we're good. This celebrity has come out openly gay now,
but we knew back in the day, and again, I
felt it would have been a lay mass move to
be like, we're gonna be the ones.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
That out you.
Speaker 1 (20:18):
I feel like that's a bad characteristic and we will never.
Speaker 2 (20:22):
Be those people.
Speaker 5 (20:22):
But I think the point, like I a buddy of
mine was at a college where an NFL team held
a training camp years ago and saw one of their
star players leave next door at like two am where
there was a house full of girls, and oh and
so I've never looked at that player the same because
I know that story.
Speaker 2 (20:43):
I knew someone that but I same thing.
Speaker 5 (20:45):
I knew the point, Like I think everybody has those stories.
Speaker 1 (20:47):
I know someone again, I won't call people, but I
know someone that worked for the Mets, and you know,
I'm a big Mets fan. There was a player that
kept getting banged up with injuries and I'm like, oh man,
they can't shake this hamstring thing. And someone said, well,
if they weren't out drinking and drugging until three in
the morning, I'm like, that's what they're doing, sure, And
you know, in my mind they were just really trying
to rehab that leg. And they're like, no, no, they
party every night and they're never gonna get better because
(21:07):
they're just And that guy was mister met.
Speaker 5 (21:12):
But the people know that story and also didn't out it. Yeah,
like that's that's the crazy thing about it.
Speaker 1 (21:19):
Now, some people you could argue that have an integrity
works against you.
Speaker 2 (21:22):
In our world, I'd rather have it. So it's number
one today, the fall Afar, wishing Jen the best, wishing
the Mississippi people the best.
Speaker 1 (21:29):
Yeah, And that's the other part of the story. The
guy ended up with one point one million dollars to himself. Yeah,
to himself, not just the again, I was reminded of that.
Speaker 4 (21:41):
Well, yeah, once he found out that he could get
that money, he went back for more.
Speaker 1 (21:45):
This was money that was supposed to be used for
the poorest of poor people in Mississippi, and these are
really poor people. And the majority of the money went
to his daughter's stupid volleyball stadium. And then one point
one million went to himself.
Speaker 4 (22:01):
Yeah. They said, a single mom with two kids in
that state at the time could get and this was
just a few years ago, could get what was it,
three hundred dollars a month.
Speaker 2 (22:11):
Yeah, like to sixty something something like that.
Speaker 4 (22:13):
Yeah, you know.
Speaker 2 (22:14):
But fares kid needs new nets on their volleyball. And
here's the thing, rich, we remember the gist of it.
Speaker 1 (22:18):
We remember like yeah, yeah, the volleyball thing one point
one in his own pocket and he didn't have enough.
Speaker 4 (22:24):
The text messages where he was asking asking the politician
who helped him get the money, yeah, can I get
caught doing this?
Speaker 1 (22:30):
By the way, the receipts were so key in this
documentary because if you had any speculation on Sturge or
or that story, it put it to rest.
Speaker 2 (22:39):
I promise you the proof was there. I promise you this.
Speaker 1 (22:41):
If your husband, wife, boyfriend or girlfriend or someone goes, hey,
can I get caughtified? Doe blank, They're about to do
some scandalous crap like that's just you don't.
Speaker 2 (22:51):
Say, can I get caught doing this?
Speaker 7 (22:53):
You don't?
Speaker 2 (22:53):
Are you a cop? Are you a cop? I got
to ask first.
Speaker 1 (22:56):
You don't preface that. Yeah, you don't preface that. If
you talk to a your own Vegas and she goes,
you're not a cop?
Speaker 2 (23:01):
Are you? You know what she just doing? I mean
people only.
Speaker 1 (23:06):
Ask if they could get in trouble if they're doing
something wrong. Let's wrap it up. Your takeaways from this documentary,
by the way, two good documentaries this week, this one
in pe Wee Herman on Friday.
Speaker 2 (23:17):
I can I'm excited for that for real?
Speaker 1 (23:18):
Can't wait, that's on Max, but your phone calls now
to wrap it up eight seven, seven ninety nine on Fox,
Let's go to Miami. What's up, Miami, Seth, you're of
a convenion wretch.
Speaker 8 (23:27):
Hey, guys, what's going We'll thanks for a little bit
of fire.
Speaker 5 (23:30):
Yeah.
Speaker 8 (23:31):
Look, I don't think it's a farm issue. I think
it's a societal issue. I think we all understand that, right,
you know. Yeah, when you think about your your integrity
and your morals throughout you know, we'll just keep it
with this country. I worked in an industry similar to
your guys industry where a lot of personalities, a lot
of talent has to have a little bit more besides,
you know, I know how right, So I'm not again
(23:54):
what happened to that woman is absolutely terrible, and yeah,
Brett Fark should be held to call.
Speaker 5 (24:00):
Should you know?
Speaker 8 (24:00):
Obviously we face some criminalizations here, but and your guys
is industry will just speak within your guys entertainment industry,
how much does you know, especially from from the female
mentality of the female portion of it, do you have
to sacrifice knowing that you are going to be able
to make a little bit of headway based off of
(24:20):
your looks and things like that, and knowing that we're
hanging a carret, we're essentially dating Carris in front of
you know, uh, these savages. I mean, we're all you know,
we know, we're all man here. We know how we
can be. So just taking that new consideration now, that.
Speaker 2 (24:34):
Is that is a layer of it.
Speaker 1 (24:35):
Like daven mentioned, like you know, when she was working
with the Jets, like the guy was like security, you're
gonna throw her in the stands with a bunch of
savage fans, like yeah, let's send. It's just a reminder
to check yourself as a grown man, like how hard
it is too. It's a reminder of how hard it
is for women to deal in this boys club of
sports and broadcasting. But how far it's come too, because
when you look around now, there's nothing but beautiful women
(24:59):
hosting these shows and broadcasting in the world of sports.
And another thought I had Rich watching this and we'll
wrap it up with one more phone call though, was like,
you know, Jen is a person. She's not just a
picture or sexy beautiful woman that she described herself as
on the show. She's a person. And imagine her dad,
like we we met her dad, We knew her, Dad.
(25:19):
Imagine your daughter, your kid who you love, hits sort
of the life lottery and Musburger points her out and
she gets this great opportunity only to be ruined because
some guy decided to do that. Like just from a
parental perspective, Yeah, I figure about rich you know, dating
her and spot living with it. Like from a parental perspective,
how does his day? His dad must want to karate
(25:41):
karate bred Farber far in the in the beanbag, Like
that is infury, very small people. Yeah, you know it's
as a dad. I hear with Kuno saying thing about that, Danny.
Speaker 2 (25:52):
You got kids.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
Imagine if you're one of eighty thousand people a game,
if your kid's career got sidetracked because some pervy guy
of power, you'd be furious.
Speaker 4 (26:01):
Oh yeah, god maam.
Speaker 1 (26:02):
All right, let's say how to Deacon in Houston? Wrap
this up and we'll go to dB for an update.
What's out, Deacon?
Speaker 9 (26:07):
Hey, what's up? Fellas? What I loved listening to the
show man. Farv has been a jerk for a long
time and a lot of us have known it. But
I wanted what I want to do. I didn't realize
about this dead Spin dude, this AJ guy. I didn't
realize any of that at the time. And what I
wanted to say, Man, how many times have we seen
in this new world somebody get canceled for something they
(26:29):
did ten, fifteen, twenty years ago. Bro, It's never too
late to hold a jerk accountable for ruining somebody's life.
And you guys have just the platform to do it.
Speaker 2 (26:38):
You dude.
Speaker 1 (26:40):
If there should be someone that is held accountable now,
Brett Favre and the AJ dude from dead Spin should
be you know, it should be, you know, held accountable.
I was gonna say to the worst, but they should
be held accountable.
Speaker 2 (26:54):
I would not I.
Speaker 4 (26:55):
Were the career losses that she's taken FARV should have
to pay her.
Speaker 2 (27:00):
No doubt.
Speaker 1 (27:00):
And I think that if dead Spin wasn't already gone,
didn't they aren't they canceled because the whole Cogan's.
Speaker 6 (27:05):
Right, No, that was Gowker. Uh, Deadspins still around. It
just got bought by a different company and just doesn't
have the same profile. But I believe were you talking
about when Gawker released like a sex.
Speaker 2 (27:15):
Tape with yeah yeah they wait, yeah yeah, you.
Speaker 1 (27:19):
Know you were also reminded of all those websites at
that time in you only two thousands, which he's talking
about my Space and all these other things that were
going on. By the way, the two is it me
or the two thousands? Are they starting to feel like
more of a time capsule?
Speaker 2 (27:31):
You know what?
Speaker 1 (27:32):
You look when you look back now, you're like, oh,
at the time, you don't feel like it's much different
than now, And you're like, oh, look at the flip phones.
Speaker 2 (27:37):
And then MySpace is going to take you back to
the year two thousand. Who was in your top eight?
Speaker 1 (27:42):
We're going to take you back later today we will
go over that, but let's go to dam Buyer for
an update.
Speaker 2 (27:47):
Hey dB d me, what's up, bud?
Speaker 5 (27:48):
Guys? Cam Ward wasn't born in the year two thousand.
It wasn't until May twenty fifth, two thousand and two
that the Titans quarterback was born. But today he signed
his rookie deal four years forty eight point seventy five
million dollars fully guaranteed overall.
Speaker 1 (28:06):
Crazy put in perspective, because remember there were some mel
Kuiper that thought should or should have been the top
dog four years forty something versus four year four million.
Speaker 2 (28:16):
He's a big difference.
Speaker 5 (28:18):
Yeah, the decibel point was moved one spot to the
right for Tam Ward. He signs his rookie deal today.
Speaker 1 (28:28):
Let's go back to the year two thousand.
Speaker 2 (28:31):
There's a certain What we're gonna do is go back thursdays,
back into time. We for a Thursday.
Speaker 4 (28:41):
It's not Thursday, Sam, Thursday, Sam, Sam, Sam, it's not Saturday.
Today's Wednesday.
Speaker 5 (28:51):
That's good week, Sam Sam.
Speaker 4 (28:53):
We're just flashing back because the Knicks are in the
Eastern Conference.
Speaker 2 (28:57):
Like, I know it's fifty after, but I no, I
it was totally thrown off. I don't know what. I like,
I needed a minute to like collect myself. Yeah, it's
not Yeah, that's coming up on tomorrow's show.
Speaker 4 (29:09):
So don't miss don't miss Covino and Rich tomorrow on
Thursday fifty after.
Speaker 1 (29:16):
They don't they call that in the broadcasting world. That's
a horizontal teas for what's coming up tomorrow. I w
was Sam way to preview our throwback Thursday segment tomorrow.
Speaker 2 (29:24):
Tomorrow, Well throw it back. You're screwing with.
Speaker 6 (29:26):
Me because it's like it's the day is different, but
everything else is the same.
Speaker 3 (29:29):
We tried to stop you about ten times, and you
kept We're just going way back on a Wednesday, Sam.
Speaker 2 (29:33):
All right, in the year two thousand, Yeah, can you
guys name off?
Speaker 4 (29:37):
There two reality TV shows that debuted in the year
two thousand.
Speaker 1 (29:42):
Well, I know one of them. Let me tell you,
Danny G. This is a little unfair because you're talking
to Captain two thousand.
Speaker 4 (29:47):
So k over there.
Speaker 1 (29:48):
You know I'm the main voice on seriously, someone other
than Rich ahead, and Rich still shops that structure, so yeah,
he knows, he knows a lot about it. Rich still
gets his wardrobe from Arab pastaal So yeah, we we
know Rich is the king Captain two thousand himself.
Speaker 2 (30:02):
One of them is the Real World right now?
Speaker 4 (30:07):
Two other network shows, ye show?
Speaker 2 (30:09):
Wait no, but yeah, these were the anniversaries.
Speaker 6 (30:11):
These were both on Big Network Survivor Yes, yes.
Speaker 4 (30:15):
Yes, Survivor debut and by the way, there's now been
seven hundred and thirty three contestants in forty eight seasons. Okay,
what's the other one?
Speaker 2 (30:23):
Is the Osbourne's one of them? No, nope, the other
one brother? Oh and you know what else?
Speaker 1 (30:28):
The Golden Power of Veto and am I also correct in
saying who Wants.
Speaker 2 (30:33):
To Be a Millionaire. That was late nineties. That was
ninety nine, I believe two thousand.
Speaker 4 (30:38):
It's not on my list, but it was ninety nine,
two thousand. All Right, this movie just had a launch.
It was in the midst of an epic run. It
was nominated for a whopping twelve Oscars at the seventy
third Academy.
Speaker 2 (30:52):
Awards in the year two thousand.
Speaker 4 (30:53):
Yes, and we talked about this actor just last week
on our show.
Speaker 3 (30:57):
Not so Nicholas Cage. No, the other guy, Christian. It
wasn't Batman.
Speaker 4 (31:01):
Oh not Christian Bale. I'm sorry. I was getting confused
with Bail and this actor. Both both have stories about
getting hot on the set. I'll give you that clue.
Speaker 2 (31:11):
Oh, Mel Gibson.
Speaker 1 (31:12):
No, we all need to mentally reset, like I was
Sam right now.
Speaker 4 (31:20):
All right, Well, we'll tease it for the other side,
because we're also going to do the music the Top
forty list. I think Rich will nail some of the
top forty songs that were at the top of the charts.
Speaker 1 (31:28):
We'll do that next plus Mahomes new presence and Hey,
Midweek major coming up. Since the year two thousand and,
I have to say On a total side note, I
think it's so cool how the old school Knicks have
banded together to root on the younger guys. I love
when teams do that. It's cool to see that fraternity
(31:51):
of players. These players come together, all these players that
were part of good teams, they were all stopped by Jordan,
and they're rooting on guys like Spreewell, Alan Houston, Starks.
All these guys coming together to watch these young dudes plays.
Awesome to be besides Barbary the legends coming out to
see the Knicks. Now, Danny, this is no insult to you.
(32:11):
You're a diehard, true to the bone Lakers fan.
Speaker 4 (32:16):
Yeah, but I've told you before how I had a
soft spot for the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (32:19):
When I look at the Garden versus Crypto formerly Staples,
there's a sense to me that when celebrities go to
the Lakers game, it's to look at me. I'm here
right like a lot other than Jack, who historically was
always there.
Speaker 2 (32:34):
To me, it's a lot of look at me.
Speaker 1 (32:37):
When I see celebrities at Knicks games, like Ben Stiller
and Challa May and Tracy Morgan and Spike Lee, I
feel like they are so invested like you and I
where you go you see other like Lakers super fans.
Speaker 2 (32:49):
Charl Spreewell's invested. Yeah, I just did.
Speaker 1 (32:51):
There's a sense Charles Oakley's there's a sense of fun
going on at Madison Square Garden right now. And man,
you know the Pacers want are rude? That fun that
goes down tonight game. Speaking of the history and all
those old school players, Reggie Miller will be there. So
exciting game tonight. But they weren't in the Eastern Conference
finals since the year two thousand.
Speaker 2 (33:14):
What was going on in the year two thousand?
Speaker 1 (33:17):
Yeah, dude, yeah, thank you Conan.
Speaker 4 (33:24):
All right, the number one movie. Like I said, it
was nominated for a lot of Oscars. It made a
ton of money. I think the second most money worldwide
that year. And I'm sorry. Bail didn't look like Bail
in that Al Davis picture, so that threw me off.
Here's a better clue for you, guys. He was born
in New Zealand. The movie was set in one eighty
(33:45):
a d He's famous for having a fit where he
threw a telephone. Oh Gladiator, Ah, thank you guys. Gladiator
was the number one movie and the Knicks were last
in the Eastern Conference final.
Speaker 1 (33:59):
Wow, the second one came out and sort of fizzled.
We had recently and think how many years we had
to wait for the sequel twenty four to be exactly
sure it came out right. I was entertaining things at first,
and then I don't know, just sort.
Speaker 2 (34:11):
Of went away. It didn't It definitely didn't live up
to this.
Speaker 4 (34:13):
Yeah, first one, all right. Technology Advancement Sony released the
PlayStation two oh crush bandicoot. Yes, And we were in
the middle of the two thousand US presidential election between
George W. Bush and Al Gore.
Speaker 2 (34:28):
We learned about hanging chest.
Speaker 4 (34:29):
Yes, thank you. It was so close that there was
a disputed vote count in Florida and the outcome was
not determined for over a month, leading to a recount
in a Supreme Court case.
Speaker 1 (34:38):
You know what else was popular in the year two thousand?
Danny you could play along You're ready?
Speaker 4 (34:42):
Yeah?
Speaker 2 (34:43):
Was That.
Speaker 1 (34:50):
Was the biggest commercial for bud wise. Wow, that's crazy,
all right?
Speaker 4 (34:53):
Which artist had the number one song on the pop
charts on the Billboard one hundred I got the top
thirty in front of me, could take a shot at
the top forty.
Speaker 2 (35:02):
Is this last one standing? Yeah, I wasn't prepared for this.
Speaker 1 (35:05):
And by the way, you probably had a lot of
these on Napster in the year two thousand, No.
Speaker 5 (35:09):
dB Mambo number five remember that one, of course I do,
but I think that was a little before that.
Speaker 2 (35:16):
It was a nice a little bit of Jessica. I'm sad.
Speaker 4 (35:19):
I'll give you a clue for the number one song.
He actually sings his own name in this song.
Speaker 2 (35:23):
I know, I know.
Speaker 1 (35:25):
In the year two thousand, a lot of the charts
revolved around the re emergence of Carlosente.
Speaker 4 (35:32):
There you go, Maria Maria was number one.
Speaker 2 (35:36):
That was the number one song of the year.
Speaker 4 (35:39):
When they were in the Eastern Conference finals.
Speaker 2 (35:41):
Okay, two thousand the time is that from Supernatural?
Speaker 4 (35:44):
This is the top thirty two thousand.
Speaker 2 (35:47):
That was a big comeback for Carlos Santana for we
just to know our.
Speaker 1 (35:50):
Parents got Black Magic Woman and oh yeah, come Ova.
And then twenty plus years later he did a song
with Rob Thomas, Tons of Due.
Speaker 4 (35:59):
I was just gonna Richie had Smooth, also Smooth in
the top twenty. That was number eighteen at the.
Speaker 1 (36:04):
Rob Thomas he had Game of Love with Michelle Branch.
He just had a ton of hits Santana, But wasn't
it also like a boy band era around that?
Speaker 4 (36:12):
Number seven is a big boy band.
Speaker 1 (36:14):
I'll go with in sync. Yep, bye bye bye there
it is two thousand.
Speaker 4 (36:19):
And uh and a song you guys like to tell
the story about about how the song came about has
to do with undergarment.
Speaker 1 (36:25):
Cisco the thumbs. Number four, that was a big song,
don't you.
Speaker 5 (36:30):
Guys dismissed my mambo number five? Like I was way off?
Speaker 2 (36:33):
It was ninety nine.
Speaker 5 (36:34):
I was April ninety nine, so like we're only nine
months away.
Speaker 1 (36:38):
I did, He did it, and Rich did. He's very
pop pompous. Why because every day when I don't do this,
I'm recording for pop two K and I know that
song doesn't pop up. So I just knew with certainty
it was such a big song that if I've never
played it on serious XM, it was definitely.
Speaker 2 (36:56):
Not too bad. I was still around that era Beau.
Speaker 5 (36:58):
I had the I was Danny talks about his djaying days.
I didn't DJ like Danny, but I did have to
DJ weddings and school dances, and I played a lot
of Mambo number five at that point, so that's where
it was based. Also a lot of Bye Bye Bye
at that time.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Yeah, But by the year two thousand, I think it
was Mambo number six, so you were wrong.
Speaker 2 (37:19):
Yeah, sorry, Dan? A year behind which.
Speaker 4 (37:22):
Hip hop song? Do you guys think I was playing
the most in the club in the year two thousand,
number one I Gotta Get Route from the atl yep Oh.
Speaker 1 (37:30):
I was going to say, my guess must be wrong.
Then I was gonna say maybe a little Destiny's Child.
Speaker 4 (37:35):
Destiny's Child is on the top forty, top ten. They
were number five with say My Name and Yeah, Sam
is right Outcast was the top of the hip hop
R and beach art with so Fresh, So Clean.
Speaker 2 (37:46):
You said Atlanta and I was like, okiss.
Speaker 1 (37:49):
What about In the world of music back then, that
was a little That was one of the first country crossovers.
Speaker 2 (37:55):
Faith Hill, Yeah, I had a big year better.
Speaker 4 (37:58):
Number three, her hit song brief Breathe.
Speaker 1 (38:00):
Yeah, that was that was a big one back then.
You know, in the year two thousand, I was wearing
Jinkos bro I would I would have my PlayStation in
my back pocket in case I wanted to bust out
a game of tech and two I got to.
Speaker 2 (38:14):
Give you guys a trivia question.
Speaker 1 (38:16):
What percentage of Americans do you think had the Internet
in two thousand when the Knicks were last in the
Eastern Conference Finals? What percentage of Americans had Internet in
their house?
Speaker 2 (38:26):
I definitely had that dial up going on for sure.
I got mail. Yeah, I had that. So it's probably
a lot lower than we think. I don't know.
Speaker 1 (38:35):
Now, you way over, about six out of ten people
did not have Internet. Crazy I would hit you with
another and Mom would pick up the phone and ruin
your connection.
Speaker 2 (38:48):
It was a good year for a couple of people
in this room.
Speaker 1 (38:50):
Danny g the first of a three peep by your Lakers, Yeah,
and Cavino. The Yankees beat my Mets in the Subway Series,
and of course remember that my week sauce.
Speaker 4 (39:00):
Game seven against the Trailblazers for the Lakers, remember to
get to the finals.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
It was also the year and I have my little
little sheet I use for pop two K.
Speaker 2 (39:11):
Let me see what I got here.
Speaker 1 (39:13):
It's really interesting to look back though, for real, because
for me personally, I know Rich lives into two thousands
when he does his countdowns and stuff. It doesn't have
much of an identity for me when it comes to
this stuff. Like when I have references, a lot of
mine come from the nineties grunge era. So actually, like
two thousand, I'm like, I don't know. The two thousands
were very like it was the early days of social media,
(39:36):
internet stuff like that, and the two thousands very identified
by like your flip phones and your and like, you're yeah,
but actual two thousand, I'm a little confused.
Speaker 2 (39:44):
I have to take myself.
Speaker 1 (39:45):
I'm in college, You're right, I'm playing PlayStation. I was
listening to Third Eye Blind still, Like, what year is that?
Speaker 4 (39:52):
Cove number sixteen on the top forty Billboard chart here, Yeah,
a song the Ranger, a group the Rangers brought back
to prominence, and you interviewed.
Speaker 2 (40:01):
Them with all homes Wide Hole po.
Speaker 4 (40:07):
Higher number six.
Speaker 2 (40:08):
Woh yeah, so that's the Creed era.
Speaker 4 (40:11):
Red Hot Chili Pepper's other side was number twenty four,
gonna digg it.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
On of the side.
Speaker 5 (40:18):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
So it's hard to really place what was going on
right then and there because I'm either leaning too far
nineties or too far ahead into two thousands.
Speaker 5 (40:28):
Hence mambo number five.
Speaker 6 (40:29):
Yeah, that's that's you're absolutely right, Dan.
Speaker 1 (40:32):
It's very confusing to me to like pinpoint exactly what
was going on at that time, but I'll tell you this.
We know the Knicks were in the Eastern Conference finals,
so it's cool to see them back man, And that's
what was going on.
Speaker 2 (40:44):
Hold on, my phone's ringing.
Speaker 1 (40:45):
Yeah, you're the former snake champion, right, My nochi is ringing,
but we're beepers still around.
Speaker 2 (40:50):
It was that scared me, by the way. It was funny,
it's the first year.
Speaker 1 (40:53):
They always say the year two thousands sort of changed
any the cell phone from like, yo, you had like
a yuppie, like a like a rich person, to have
a self coomb pilot's a thing. No, because in the
year two thousand it went from what do you got
a cell phone?
Speaker 2 (41:08):
What do you must be like a rich kid? To
like the regular like.
Speaker 1 (41:12):
Nerds were riding around on razor scooters at the office.
Because it was like the dot com boom. What year
was that?
Speaker 2 (41:17):
No, that was the the dot com bubble, the dot
com bubble? How about this song?
Speaker 1 (41:21):
You remember this song the dot com bubble burst? How
about this song in the year two thousand, do Do
Do Do Do Do do do Do Do Do Do
Do Do Do do because everyone was rocking that Nokia
right where you know what. Disc men were still a
thing they had to because I remember taking the bus
in the early two thousands and I still had my discman.
(41:44):
Let me hit you up with one more. We talked recently, Danny,
remember about like the worst business deals? Yeah, two thousand
was the year where Netflix said, hey, Blockbuster, do you
want to buy us for fifty million dollars?
Speaker 2 (41:55):
And Blockbuster was like, nah.
Speaker 4 (41:57):
We could.
Speaker 1 (41:58):
That was the year where where everything we do now
would have been Blockbuster. But if you're thinking like, damn man,
that was a long time ago. Yeah, that's how long
it's been. And that's why you're seeing the Nicks celebrate
in this way. So whose signe are you on tonight?
Pacers Nicks? And now it's time to give away a swiggy. Now,
(42:19):
this guy's words of wisdom are incomparable. How could one
measure up to Mike who runs this place?
Speaker 9 (42:27):
Never heard of them?
Speaker 2 (42:28):
Last week was my favorite? What was it?
Speaker 1 (42:30):
There's no such there as fake breasts because if you
could feel them there real life.
Speaker 2 (42:35):
That was I So you didn't win a swig, you
got the gist of it. You have to gist. I mean,
this guy brings it.
Speaker 1 (42:41):
So I was saying, without further ado Mike's words of wisdom.
Speaker 2 (42:49):
It's time for the guy that runs this place.
Speaker 5 (42:51):
Just for clarification, guys, Big Mike does not run this place.
He is not in charge of everything. He has no
power over really anybody here. It does not run this place.
Speaker 2 (43:01):
It's Big Mike's words of wisdom. On a Wednesday and
apple a day will keep anyone away if you throw
it hard enough.
Speaker 6 (43:19):
By the way, that's an easy one. Be dialing now
at eight seven seven ninety nine on Fox. I mean,
those are wise words. But if you can't remember that one,
you're the hoist guy pulls out an apple a day reverence. Yeah,
he needs to make these harder, longer, and more complicated.
Speaker 1 (43:34):
So if you could read that, repeat that verbatim, you
win a swiggy. Be dialing now eight seven seven ninety
nine on FOXN Gee, let's go back to the two
thousands for a second, because I know you were running
the clubs. We were all younger men and the you know,
if you're in your forties now, two thousands were your twenties.
You were acting the fool, will you? You were ordering
(43:54):
Yager bombs and.
Speaker 2 (43:56):
You were partying Thursday nights.
Speaker 1 (43:57):
You were, you know, getting Chrystal Champagne in the VIP Like, yeah, bomb,
I'm assuming those biga bombs. Those are Danny about vodka?

Speaker 2 (44:05):
Was that was that around here? Two thousand? I think
there was just starting to get some stick.
Speaker 1 (44:09):
Yeah, you gotta look up when Red bull starting because
it might have been more Red Bulls giving me wings.
But Danny g that's when you were in the VIP
booth and it was a fun year. Girls always wanted
to go to the VIP the DJ booth.
Speaker 4 (44:20):
I was running the radio station Q one oh four
seven OX in our Ventura Santa Barbara, fifty thousand watts
of all the flavor hip hop, R and B and
old school. It was fun. It was a fun time
and really good hip hop and R and B at
that time. If you look at the list rich and
one morn, Yeah, go for it. The late great Aliyah,
I feel like, oh yeah, she was. She was definitely
(44:42):
on there. She she had the hit try Again and.
Speaker 2 (44:46):
Does your souf off?
Speaker 4 (44:47):
And try jaw Rule Ja Rule was in the top

by Do Trick, Daddy, Big Timers, Nelly, Ludacris, mp uh,
Let's see big Time tis mystical?
Speaker 1 (45:01):
Oh big Timers the way did Big Timers? Who sampled
Gilligan's Island ate it upo?
Speaker 2 (45:06):

rich There were a lot of club songs like that
at the time. I remember ying Yang Twins Whistle Why

Speaker 2 (45:18):
Of course, do you remember the song?
Speaker 1 (45:20):
This might be a very East Coast club song, But
do you remember feel So Good by so Nick?
Speaker 5 (45:24):
Yes?
Speaker 4 (45:25):
Oh yeah, that was in the top twenty of the
billboard s.
Speaker 1 (45:30):
Just reminiscing, just to bring it back a little, but
only because if you wonder why New Yorkers are climbing
up light posts like they're from Philadelphia, like they're they're
degrading themselves like they're from Philly, it's because there's an
excitement level about the Knicks that hasn't been around. This
is before social media, before smartphones, before any of the
(45:50):
things that you do on a daily basis. Could you
know that's the last time the Knicks were relevant. I
think it was the first season without ewing to double
check that, because I'm looking at the roster too.
Speaker 2 (46:02):
In two thousand, Alan, he did in.
Speaker 1 (46:04):
Ninety nine two thousand or two thousand and two thousand
and one. Yeah, because it's the ninety nine, two ninety nine,
two thousand. Charlie Ward I think was on that team.
But it's been a long ass time, guys.
Speaker 2 (46:14):
All right, So.
Speaker 1 (46:17):
Again Mike's Wednesday words of wisdom. Let's see if he
could do it? All right, can you repeat it verbatim
for your chance at the coveted swiggy.
Speaker 4 (46:29):
Right, I'm going to go to the studio lines Ryan
and Pennsylvania has the first shot at it.
Speaker 2 (46:33):
Ryan, Let's see what you got. How are you, buddy, I'm.
Speaker 8 (46:36):
Good man, just getting out of work. I'm away home.
Speaker 1 (46:39):
Let's do appreciate you listening first of all. Now it's
your turn twoin a swiggy. All right, let's let the
music establish. Here we go, take it away, right, let
it simmer.
Speaker 9 (46:50):
An apple a day. We'll keep anyone away if you
throw it hard enough.
Speaker 2 (47:01):
So there you go. Wow, you know why am you one? Man?
Speaker 4 (47:07):
That was easy money?
Speaker 2 (47:08):
Yeah?
Speaker 8 (47:08):
Thank you very much, man, I'm listening to you guys
every day.
Speaker 2 (47:11):
I know how to go appreciate it. I appreciate you, Ryan,
Thank you. Hey, join us in Vegas.
Speaker 1 (47:15):
We'll be partying the twentieth, twenty first, and twenty second.
Speaker 2 (47:18):
Everybody's invited.
Speaker 1 (47:19):
Twenty first and twenty second, twentieth, I'm sorry, twentieth and
twenty first.
Speaker 9 (47:24):
You guys don't be giving away any any any free
tickets and some airline passes to.
Speaker 2 (47:29):
Go with it.
Speaker 1 (47:29):
I mean, we don't have the budget for that. But
enjoy your swiggy man, enjoy your water bottle.
Speaker 2 (47:35):
Thank you, bro. You know I it's so funny.
Speaker 1 (47:38):
I I feel like Mike read that one off like
a Snapple cup.
Speaker 2 (47:42):
He might have, or like a bad dad jokes.
Speaker 6 (47:44):
Snapple was still a thing, hard apple cider, hard cider label.
Speaker 2 (47:49):
Apple day. We'll keep ready on the way.
Speaker 1 (47:52):
All right, Well, hey, we got midweek major with Spot,
and don't forget there's a hot story. Patrick Mahomes has
two new weapons. Man, it's gonna be a good year
for him. We'll explain what that means next Right here,
Covino Rich on Fox Sports Radio. Our video producer Spot
puts together all the biggest stories in the world of
(48:14):
sports and entertainment.
Speaker 2 (48:15):
We call it Midweek Major.
Speaker 7 (48:18):
Covino and Rich get you over the middle of the
week where mid Week Major Major. I love that we
throw sports and pop culture headlines and topics at the
fellas and it's like the kids.
Speaker 2 (48:31):
Says, we definitely leader see in our score Midweek Major.
Speaker 4 (48:48):
I need that was for the East Coast as the
Knicks are back in the conference finals. And before we
hand things over to the number one and only host
of this segment, you hear the horns, so you know
you've made it. In the middle of the work week,
Covino and Rich are gonna roll the two big Red
love dice over there to see who gets the first take.
Speaker 2 (49:05):
I just rolled big Fat four.
Speaker 1 (49:08):
And by the way, Danny, better than the middle of
the work week, knowing that you have a holiday weekend
coming up, it makes it feel a little better.
Speaker 4 (49:16):
Here goes to the Rich role.
Speaker 2 (49:18):
Seven. I'm getting ready for our Vegas trip. Baby.
Speaker 4 (49:21):
Perhaps that means Rich gets to go first. And now,
ladies and gentlemen, the most famous person besides Judy Bloom
from Scotch plains New Jersey spotty boy.
Speaker 2 (49:32):
Hi, guys, you know I only roll seven on the
first run and eight All Day ROWL six. We're gonna
take over a craps table and make millions. We're gonna
do something. I'll tell you that much.
Speaker 4 (49:41):
All right.
Speaker 3 (49:42):
We'll start off with the Buffalo Bills, who have been
chosen by the NFL and the Home Box Office to
be the center of the training competition of Hard Knocks.
Roger Goodell made the announcement during spring meetings, saying the
raining AFC East champs will be documented as they prepare
for next season. Of course, series will focus on team practices,
possibly get some offscreen drama. Maybe we'll see the future
(50:02):
Missus Allen running around. NFC East also getting their treatment
for the d season for next season, focusing on multiple
teams including the Giants, Commanders, Cowboys, and Eagles. Hard Knocks
Training Camp with the Buffalo Bills premieres August fifth on HBO.
Speaker 2 (50:18):
Max Is that what it's called now?
Speaker 9 (50:19):
Is?
Speaker 3 (50:22):
I'm pretty sure our Home Box Office, Maximilian as I
call it, Yes, this is I'd.
Speaker 1 (50:26):
Be mid okay, they do it every year. The Bill's
a good choice. Harley Steinfeld. I hope there's a little
involvement to bring some you know, some pop culture fun
to it. And by the way, rude of you to
bring up the Bills and not wish Josh Allen a
happy twenty ninth birthday.
Speaker 2 (50:40):
Oh is that today? Josh Allen turns to twenty nine today?
I don't want to get.
Speaker 1 (50:44):
Twenty I didn't get my alert, didn't get your Josh
Allen alert. Well, mister t turns seventy three today.
Speaker 2 (50:48):
I put it in the pool.
Speaker 1 (50:49):
Well, I hope Josh Allen gets my edible arrangement and
sent them a balloon.
Speaker 2 (50:53):
So I think this major major spot. And I'll tell
you why.
Speaker 1 (50:59):
A See's Champs, Josh Allen Superstars. It could be a
weak ass team. This is a great team. This is
an intriguing season. So when I first saw this rich,
I was like, ooh ye yeah, and it gets me
excited about it, so because sometimes you watch a team
that you don't care at all about.
Speaker 2 (51:17):
So I'm actually excited about this.
Speaker 1 (51:19):
And you know what, I'm sure they will also highlight
the Bill's mafia, which could be fun.
Speaker 2 (51:23):
Yeah, the fan base is insane, so I think it's
would be a great season. I'd sticking in the NFL.
Speaker 3 (51:28):
Jalen Hurts doubling down on his absence from the White
House last month, as he claims as he said he
had scheduling contacts that he's really busy.
Speaker 2 (51:35):
Super Bowl champion Eagles QB.
Speaker 3 (51:37):
Invited to the White House along with the rest of
the team on April twenty eighth. Many were in attendants,
including Saquon Barkley, who went on to have a round
of golf with the President, but Hurtz commented in a
press confidence conference yesterday saying he just simply wasn't available,
going out to say.
Speaker 5 (51:50):
I don't think that's pertinent.
Speaker 3 (51:52):
Everyone who went was available, or that everyone who went
and was available seemed to enjoy themselves. So even if
it's not political, he's sticking to his guns. Midweek or Major,
I'm gonna go Major.
Speaker 2 (52:05):
And I'll tell you why not, because I care. I listen.
Speaker 1 (52:08):
No matter who the president is, I would go because
I honor the seat that the man Holtz and maybe
a woman one day. Right, I think the president's a
big deal. I would sit down with Obama, Trump, Bush, Clinton, anyone.
Speaker 2 (52:19):
I think it's an honor.
Speaker 1 (52:20):
Lincoln, Lincoln Taft, who got Starfield, Garfield, Hoover.
Speaker 2 (52:27):
I just find it odd when he's like I was busy.
Speaker 1 (52:30):
In my mind, I'm like Gues van Buren, to quote
peee Herman back in the.
Speaker 2 (52:33):
Day, busy doing what is he doing? What he's taking
his bath? Francis is busy.
Speaker 1 (52:41):
I've seen this when people go to the Oscars or
a wedding or big event. It's like, oh, they were
busy that day. What is busier and more important than
going to the White House and being honored by the President.
Speaker 2 (52:50):
It's a wildly weird excuse.
Speaker 1 (52:51):
If he asked me, you could say I'm not a
fan of Trump and he didn't want to go, that
would be okay with that.
Speaker 2 (52:56):
To say you had plans, that's like, hey, uh, Penny Hannah,
cancel him? How what is going on? I don't get it. Yeah,
I agree with Rich. It's major. It's like I was.
Speaker 1 (53:06):
Visiting New York once and I was like, Dad, I'm,
you know, visiting from LA three thousand miles and he's like, oh, well,
you know what, come a little later in.
Speaker 2 (53:14):
The day, I have a dental cleaning.
Speaker 5 (53:16):
I'm like, oh, I got.
Speaker 2 (53:17):
I got a doctor's on point.
Speaker 5 (53:19):
It's very hard to get it.
Speaker 2 (53:21):
What is more important than this honor?
Speaker 1 (53:24):
I booked it six months ago. Rich can't again unless
it was like something health related. And if you really
want to squash the story.
Speaker 2 (53:31):
What were you doing? Why the big mystery? I'm with
Rich I'd respect it more if he just came clean
and said, yeah, I don't like Trump all right.
Speaker 9 (53:38):
Uh.
Speaker 3 (53:38):
Still speculation around the engagement between legendary NFL coach Bill
Belichick and his twenty four year old girlfriend Jordan Hudson. Well,
Bill may have confirmed it in his own way. As
you know, Bill has eight Super Bowl rings, six with
the Paths, two with the Giants. Well, he debuted a
new boat on the waters off the Swinky Island of
Nantucket and Massachusetts with the name in Roman numerals one
(54:01):
plus eight rings, alluding to the fact that there may
be an extra ring having to do with his engagement.
Speaker 1 (54:07):
No, I see, I think this is major region, but
I am interpreting it differently. Oh, he's with a younger,
more vibrant woman.
Speaker 2 (54:18):
Oh you think that ring? I think I think the
ring is somewhere in his pantalonis. I think my hands
need a little help.
Speaker 9 (54:26):
On four.
Speaker 1 (54:28):
I don't think it's an engage ring. I think it's
that moink. Wow, geez, wow, that's a that's a hot take.
That's a hot take right there.
Speaker 2 (54:36):
I'll take it, and I agree with rich.
Speaker 6 (54:43):
Major story because it's Bill Belichick and he's seventy four
years old, she's twenty four married.
Speaker 2 (54:52):
What married? He's here?
Speaker 1 (54:54):
It's a very odd story of course that applies a marriage.
One plus eight rings? Well, what's the the ring? Give
me a break. I just find it very odd at
this guy seems.
Speaker 2 (55:05):
To be high school class ring, but he just seems
to be so smitten and it's really tough to see.
It's such a guy that I don't know.
Speaker 1 (55:15):
It's a very major story because you're not going to
tell me that she's not gonna have involvement on his decisions,
because all wives do. What's that irish promise ring? That
clitter ring?
Speaker 4 (55:28):
A purity ring?
Speaker 2 (55:32):
Jonas Brothers.
Speaker 4 (55:32):
There you go.
Speaker 3 (55:34):
The White Sox begging got a higher power to lead
them to victory this season. So pop Leo the fourteenth,
as you know from Chicago, Chicago White Sox fan.
Speaker 4 (55:44):
His brother revealed it.
Speaker 5 (55:45):
We saw the.
Speaker 3 (55:45):
Footage of him in the stands at the game one
of the two thousand and five World Series. Well, the
team capitalizing on their connection by highlighting the Pope and
his attendance with a graphic installation at ray Field. The
Socks unveiled the attraction ahead of their matchup against the Mariners,
which featured the new Pope waving in front of the
Chicago skyline, UH with a photo a photo of him
in the stands at the two thousand and five game,
(56:06):
also a frame jersey next to it with the name
Pope Leo went under. Of course, the number is fourteen
Socks currently fifteen and thirty five. So maybe they'll turn
it around for the rest of the season midweek or major.
Speaker 2 (56:16):
Dude, you ain't turn it around. The Saint Angels in
the outfield. You never know. I don't know, but you know,
it is pretty cool.
Speaker 1 (56:22):
Listen, if the Pope rooted for my team, I would
imagine they would, you know, do something. I think it's
a classy little touch, and the White Sox they need
a little something.
Speaker 2 (56:30):
I think I would say it's for the mid I
think it's it's a mid story. I agree with Rish.
Speaker 1 (56:35):
They could have made it cooler by having like a
sacred seat spray paint that one seat that he sat
in gold and it's like you're a lucky fan.
Speaker 2 (56:41):
You get you're like blessed by the God, would say,
did like Pope foam hat night.
Speaker 1 (56:44):
Yeah, you got appen lean into it a little harder, like, oh,
the great Pope, race the great Hope. If you're sitting
in a sacred seat and give a way prizes, you
win a trip.
Speaker 2 (56:54):
To the Vatican.
Speaker 1 (56:55):
Oh my god, you get free tickets forever and ever.
Speaker 2 (57:00):
Yeah, I'll lean into it, man, I love it all right.
Speaker 3 (57:03):
Travis Kelcey backtracking his stance on playing the season opener
in South Paulo, Brazil, after facing backlash for throwing a
bit of a tantrum after the game was announced, as
you recall complaining about the heat being that close to
the equator, saying you didn't want to put on his uniform.
He's played in Jacksonville in September and it's effit miserable, says.
Speaker 2 (57:21):
All that kind of stuff.
Speaker 3 (57:22):
Well, on this week's new podcast, you made a turnaround, saying,
talking about the excitement for being in a bunch of
primetime games, you can't wait to see all the brazil
fans enjoying American football. And then Jason went on to
say how apparently they were told the weather in some
palow in Brazil in September is very nice.
Speaker 2 (57:39):
So they're very excited about it. Midweek or major. You know,
this is very nice. The but cheeks out there, I mean,
I don't want to say it. Don't tell me say this.
Speaker 1 (57:47):
I think, uh, I think this story has nothing to
do with his take on Brazil in the Games. I
think the take you said, he said, uh back one
too many times? Backtracking you said backtracking, you mean it
harry Back. All I'm thinking about is Travis Kelsey's harry
Back and maybe going to be Maybe this is good
news for all the harry Sasquatches out there, because if
Taylor Swift could get with a guy that's got a
(58:09):
hairy back like that, maybe it's like, uh, do you think.
Speaker 2 (58:11):
She shaves us back? I bet you, I ge.
Speaker 1 (58:15):
Laugh, I bet you if people want to see that, honestly,
wax it do something, Travis.
Speaker 2 (58:21):
She's too hands up town to harry Back. That's my take.
I agree with you on that. I'll agree with rich
on that. I don't have a hairy back button. What
do I push here?
Speaker 1 (58:29):
Ah, it's a mid story, major carry back.
Speaker 2 (58:33):
I'm supposed to care that he is okay with Brazil.
Brazil is awesome.
Speaker 1 (58:37):
I've never been there, but I've always wanted to go.
But his hairy back is a pretty mid story. Shave
your back, dude, half sasquatch, half Croatia. I guess all right, well, hey,
thank you Spotty, great midweek major, thank you Bud.
Speaker 2 (58:52):
Trash.
Speaker 1 (58:52):
And if I'm anywhere and this song comes on, I
take a bathroom break, I'd tail.
Speaker 2 (58:55):
You're insulting Dan Bayer. He loves a song.
Speaker 6 (58:57):
No, I told Dann he needs a stick around to
hear his He's called back, oh rumor.
Speaker 1 (59:03):
Spreading, and this is Dan Byer's favorite song. Oh man,
Dan is very Dan caging the name to the.
Speaker 5 (59:08):
Buyer number five. Okay, that's not the case here. The
problem is is Rich has been lippy all week, like
his his forty nine ers. Ah, that's a win against
the Seahawks. Hippy even yesterday when like I guess, like
Tom Seavers said that. I said that. So this is
the third straight day where like he's popped off. And
(59:31):
here's the deal. Nobody except Cavinos sometimes in spots, sometimes
calls him out on it. You know, Sam's just like Rich.
So when MAMO number five was released in April of
ninety nine because I thought it maybe two thousand, trying
to add something to the show. I don't think I
should be ridiculed by No. That was years and years.
Speaker 2 (59:52):
You saw the real side of Rich, is what you're saying.
Speaker 5 (59:54):
Yes, Yes, the real can the untold Rich Davis story
to come out?
Speaker 2 (59:58):
This welcome. That's why Dan's always been a Cavino guy.
You're officially part of the crew. Now got frustration towards
Rich like that part of the crew. It took four years.
Love you, buddy, you've seen it.
Speaker 5 (01:00:10):
You see what we see like the third time's triple crown.
But I just won the Belmont by you know.
Speaker 2 (01:00:14):
A very decissive attitude.
Speaker 1 (01:00:16):
He does not see it, he doesn't see he doesn't
God wrong again anyway, TV.
Speaker 4 (01:00:23):
It's like how we were running really late for Last
one Standing on Monday and Rich wanted to talk about
butterflies for ten minutes.
Speaker 2 (01:00:28):
Yes, seriously, Yeah, I mean this is how Rich it is.
So again we're Covino and Rich.
Speaker 1 (01:00:34):
I'm here pampas Rich live from the Fox Sports Radio studio,
and for over forty years, ti Iraq has been helping
customers find the right tires for how, what and where
they drive.
Speaker 2 (01:00:43):
Ship fast and free and back.
Speaker 1 (01:00:44):

like mobile tire installation. Dude, it's mobile tire installation. Oh sorry,

Old School and fifty hits on the clock. So be
sure to join us and we'll figure out a way
to give way more prizes tomorrow. Do you think the
Knicks old court and win Game one at home tonight? Man,
that's tough. I do, Rich, I think that personally. But
what I can guarantee is what we said last time.
(01:01:28):
Electricity Man. The garden's gonna be hopping, and it's gonna
be fun to watch. It's gonna be fun to see
all the old heads they're representing, all the latrell spree
wells out the ratings.
Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
No, you do, I have an idea.
Speaker 1 (01:01:42):
You sit Halliburton's dad in between all the old school Nicks.
Speaker 2 (01:01:48):
Yeah, okay, and Haliburton's dad right next to you.
Speaker 4 (01:01:51):
Yeah, I mean, now, rich, are you keeping your wallet
closed tonight because you got burned last night?
Speaker 2 (01:01:59):
You know what now that you said that MVP? MVP?
Speaker 1 (01:02:03):
Yeah, thirty one points when it was thirty one and
a half. All right, what do we got here tonight?
Jalen brunts in twenty eight and.
Speaker 2 (01:02:10):
A half, I'd say, just under, all right, don't let
that half.
Speaker 4 (01:02:17):
Yeah, don't let that half get you.
Speaker 1 (01:02:18):
No, all right, Karl Anthony Towns ooh, twenty two and
a half.
Speaker 4 (01:02:26):
Bet you bet you he scores twenty three points.
Speaker 1 (01:02:29):
All right, I'm gonna go over Haliburton eighteen and a half,
over over, don't hand it only We'll do one more Turner,
we're topping. Who do you want to do, I'd say,
Miles Turner. Miles Turner is fifteen and a half.
Speaker 2 (01:02:49):
Under. Okay, I'm just totally went with arbitray.
Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
I went arbitrary with you guys.
Speaker 4 (01:02:56):
Get this draft Kings pick six hits yours, Taco Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (01:03:00):
Right, fair enough, So we got we got Brunson under
twenty eight and a half. We got kat over twenty
two and a half, Halliburton over eighteen and a half
in Miles Turner under fifteen and a half ten bucks
pays eighty All right, cool, that's more reason to have
fun and enjoy the game. Thank you guys for enjoying
the show. I hope you enjoy the show. Anything you
(01:03:21):
miss catch it on the podcast. Now, we got two
minutes left, Rich, which means we'll probably have to continue
this conversation tomorrow. But all show Rich has been teasing
Patrick Mahomes is two new weapons this offseason.
Speaker 5 (01:03:34):
Yeah.
Speaker 1 (01:03:34):
Now, again, this is a legend and this is rumor.
This is just based on what the eyes could see.
Because I don't know if I'd necessarily agree with you
yet evidence. Yeah, well, there's a lot of people that
disagree because guess what, the lovely I enjoy her very
much on quarterback. I got a new respect for Britney Mahomes.
But there's photos. Now, you know she was in Sports Illustrated.
(01:03:56):
There's a lot of before and after.
Speaker 2 (01:03:58):
There's a lot of before and a half. We're actually
ran on it, and I think she's.
Speaker 5 (01:04:00):
A new mom.
Speaker 1 (01:04:01):
And when you're a new mom, they get big. Others
are saying she got the babies get big. But he
got some bazoombas mansy, that's the proper term. I think ZOOMSNSI.
Speaker 5 (01:04:14):
Yes, I'm here, I'm listening.
Speaker 1 (01:04:15):
What do you think you're you guys, you're a lovely woman.
Speaker 2 (01:04:18):
Absolutely, it's them both.
Speaker 1 (01:04:20):
