Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume.
Speaker 2 (00:10):
What's up everybody? Welcome back to the Draymond Green Show
with my brother BD. What's hating the dog? How you feeling?
What's upthing? My bro good Win?
Speaker 1 (00:18):
Game seven clutch he catch through. Oh man, that was
the hell of a game, man on the road. Game
seven in Houston. You had sixteen points, five assists, six rebounds. Defensively,
it was a masterclass. This is your fifth time winning
(00:40):
versus Houston. Was it a celebration because this was a
tough series? Was it a celebration or was it was
like was it like, oh man, we just were happy
we got out of this.
Speaker 2 (00:52):
I mean, the celebration is goes as far as what
you see guys doing on the court. The video that
you may see in the hallway, if there's a video
in the locker room speech, that's about as much as
a celebration as it's gonna get. I think, you know,
like we ain't turning up or lit that we want
(01:15):
you gotta move on from it fast. But you're you're
there's an excitement about as you know, and just closing
out a series, right like and so yeah, like we
never take that for granted because, as you know, every
series is hard, Like I don't care how good you are.
I don't care if you sweep a team. It wasn't easy,
Like it's just it's very hard to do. And so
(01:37):
you share different moments with different people, right, like the
moment that me and Steph share there and Steve this
different moment, you know what I'm saying. Because we've gone
in this place five times. I mean we've played against
this team five times in the playoffs and beat them
all five times. Like we won to now two get
(02:00):
seven in this arena against two different regimes, by the way,
like two completely different teams. Like they were really good
and got really really really really really really really bad. Yeah,
and then just got really good, really good.
Speaker 1 (02:12):
I'm saying.
Speaker 2 (02:12):
So, like we've gone through all of that and here
we are, and so it's like that appreciation for that,
getting that first playoff win with Jimmy, you know, that
playoff series winning with Jimmy, like and sharing in that
with him, like obviously you know he's been there, right,
but we haven't done that together, you know what I'm saying.
So you got that like that small celebration there, you
(02:33):
got like the small celebration amongst the guys that this
is their first time winning the playoff series. You know
what I'm saying, like real small, there ain't no real
celebration there. I would say there's more of an appreciation
than a celebration. That one felt good.
Speaker 1 (02:48):
And you know, Houston was my team, uh, one of
my sleeper teams for the year. I gotta give a
shout out. You know, I picked them. I have a
great season. I think for you guys, it felt like
like the monkey was off your back. Right as an underdog,
you jump out, you get the lead in the series.
But you know, this team had a lot a lot
(03:09):
of fight, right, And I love a quote. I think
your quote at the end when you found the camera
saying good night has been real? Like, that was a bar, right,
because y'all been going back and forth. You know, damn
they're fighting. It was a scrappy series. So the good
night it's been real that was a bar.
Speaker 2 (03:30):
I gotta ge. I gotta give you a propp So
now that was a bar. That was a straight bar.
I appreciate that. Man. That felt good. You know, it's like, yeah,
it's been real, but good night it's a rock. We're
moving on to the next one. But hard fought series.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
Man.
Speaker 2 (03:48):
You know, one of the tougher series I've played in.
If I'm honest, them boys was tough. Your boy, buddy,
He'll went off thirty three points nine three pointers about time.
But that's my boy.
Speaker 3 (04:03):
Listen, Buddy was right on time, about time, buddy, baby, Yes.
Speaker 2 (04:09):
He was right on time. Buddy had like this serious
ass demeanor, like Buddy's never serious. He had like this
serious ass demeanor the last couple of days. And when
we got off the bus to walk into the shoot around,
I was walking behind Buddy. He was first, and I'm
(04:29):
walking in, and I could see how he's walking, like
he's walking with like a a slide and and but
it's like a power walk, just like serious as hell.
And he just kept like he was so vocal and
everything was just so matter of fact, like you think
he'd been in this situation a million times, like he
(04:51):
was so dialed in. I'm actually not surprised he had
that game. He was so dialed in. Well, when I
saw him walking in, I was disclose, and I wish
I would have done it. I was going to record
him walking in because he was walking so powerful. I'm
(05:12):
not surprised at all that he had that game, But
it was great to see him have that game. I
know the amount of work he put in, and I
know the amount of slander that he's caught all year
at different times, and so to see him have that
game on the biggest stage in Game seven, like you
see how tight guys can get. Look at Dylan Brooks,
you know what I'm saying, Like you see Houston was tight,
(05:33):
like out there playing on the floor against him, like
you could feel it. Fred van Bleet wasn't tight, you
know what I'm saying before, But they were tight and
we could feel out we consense it. The arena was tight,
like you consistent. They knew what was coming. They like
not these dudes again, and everybody in the gym knew
what was happening. It was the worst kept secret. And
(05:54):
Buddy was the opposite, but he was amongst a group
that was like, whatever it is, what you know, we're good.
Like Steve come in like, oh it's cool, we're good.
Straight you know, steph through the finger roll high up
in the layup line and when he make it, he'd
go jumping around everyby he made and everybody out there
(06:14):
dancing like we was loose and I think Buddy was
able to feed off of that as well, whereas opposed
to those guys they went the opposite way. It was
game seven. Yeah, you just taking game seven. Game seven.
You gotta tighten up, you know. Yeah.
Speaker 1 (06:30):
Game seven is tough because all you're thinking about the
night before, if you've never been in one, is like, man,
I finally get to be in the game seven, What
am I gonna do? And you saw Houston in the beginning,
even Saygoon missing easy bunnies, Jalen Green missing shots, stealing
Brooks missing easy ones. Outside of Van Fleet and uh
(06:53):
and Thompson, those are the only real force they had
and they had to scrap. Y'all made him scrap for everything.
And that's what playoff Game seven, Championship basketball. It is
all about one thousand percent, you know.
Speaker 2 (07:08):
Going into that game, we made some adjustments on how
to dice their zone up, which was genius by Steve Stots.
We diced that zone up, which then forced them to
have to take Steven Adams out. And that's the lineup
they were doing. That's the lineups doing the damage.
Speaker 4 (07:26):
Man.
Speaker 2 (07:26):
We diced that zone up right, so, and Steve just
said it, like, yo, we gotta get fifty to fifty
balls and not turn the ball up like, ain't no
major adjustments to be made. But we're gonna be loose.
You catch it, you open fire, like we're going out
there loose and they're going to tighten up Peter one.
So he said, this arena gonna be tight. They gonna
(07:47):
be tight. Everybody gonna be tight. And we going out there,
we're gonna be loose. We fire and we're going to
get this win. Man, it was fun. I think you know,
like you said, Thompson played with a lot of force. Uh,
he he got a change. It's tough. He live in
the moment. A lot of respect for young fella. He
(08:09):
is special. The way he defends, the way he get downhill. Yeah,
he's he's certain of himself. He athletic as hell is.
He relentless. A lot of respect for the young fella manpcial.
He's special. Sing Goon, got a lot of respect for him.
(08:29):
You know, I've played against I've played against a lot
of guys and I always tell people, man, in a
playoff series, one of two things happened. You either completely
lose respect for someone or you gained a lot of
respect for someone because you see who really real and
when when these playoffs happen, you know what I'm saying,
(08:50):
you see a lot of people fade. You get to
see who really real. You also get to see how
people are after the game, which we'll talk about. But
sing gooon, real man, he back down at all? What
I would say to him if I was his og,
he can take it right from here. Flop a little less, embellish,
a little less because with a defender like me, he
(09:12):
doing that my feet off that, you know what I'm saying?
He real, He ain't he physical, He ain't backing down.
He got a bag, you know what I'm saying. Like
he and he twenty three years old, Like I don't
think you realize you ain't got a young squn Absolutely
so he real a lot of respect for him. The
(09:32):
way Jabbari played in this series. Obviously, Stephen Adams prevant,
we know that day the Don's over there, you know.
But Jabari Smith, he was huge in this series for
them shots. Uh, he got loose balls, you know. He
trying to put pressure on our defense. Those guys are
just named, all those guys. A lot of respect for
(09:53):
those guys, may on how they acted after the game.
You know, you see a lot about you see a
lot come out and tell you a lot about a guy.
And I didn't see. I didn't see Jalen Green after
the game, but some of the guys told me that
he was out there. So respect. But Dylan Brooks ran
off the court. So when I say, you see what
(10:15):
guys has made of he ran off the court like
ain't shaking nobody up. And you were like you you
you admitted that you were trying to hurt Steff Hand,
which again fine by me, Bro, Like I get it,
We all get it when you hoop. You know what
I'm saying. So if you're gonna be on that type
of time.
Speaker 3 (10:36):
You go on the press all the time, you gonna
be talking, You're gonna be god Wolf, don't lose and
then not face the music.
Speaker 2 (10:46):
Don't be that guy, because again, you lose a lot
of respect for guys in that moment. I had a
moment with Dylan Brooks back when he was with A
Memphis and I said, the dynasty start after you. And
the reason I said that is because things like that,
because bro, you like so then guess what did Tarry
Easton do it? He lead the court. I got love
(11:07):
for Tari East and his mom was talking. You know
what I'm saying. My mom almost had to get out
of earlier in the year though, absolutely, you know. And
I ended up catching him right before he was about
to walk out there ring and he was like, he
was walking this way so he ain't have to come
by me, but I could in my distance, I could
(11:29):
see him right there. I said to him, I like,
wave him now, and I went and adopted him up
and that was kind of a little safe. But don't
be that guy man like you don't like you, you
lose a series. But that's who Dylan Brooks is, you
(11:50):
know what I'm saying. And we understand, like you a
sucker man you like. But but Tari East said, he
not you know what I'm saying. And like I said,
his mom was talking, and so I love I don't
get that. I got a lot of love for young
fella because the way you go about his business, the
way you play the game, I got a lot of
love for Don't be like that because you lose respect.
When when guys lose respect for you in this league,
(12:13):
like it don't matter and it's gonna catch you in
the end. You know what I'm saying, Like Dylan Brooks
couldn't come through in this series in large part because
nobody on the court respects you. So anything you do
the way's gonna be looked at the way it's gonna
be received. It ain't beneficial to your team when you
trying to win championships, you know what I'm saying. When
you're trying to compete at the highest level and you
(12:35):
that type of guy, it ain't beneficial to your team
and they catch you in the end, so they front
office trying to run off and not say what's up,
you know, like all that. Like, But like I said,
e may ten toes. You know what I'm saying, Big smile,
hug love, you know what I'm saying. But you know,
like I said, I gained a lot of respect for
a lot of guys over there. Not that I ever
(12:56):
have much respect for dude, but just show why you don't,
you know what I'm saying, and Tar East and I
still got love and respect for here a young fella.
I'm gone like that. Follow clowns man, be careful, be
the almost. I left the court one time after losing
the series. It was right after we lost to UH
(13:19):
to the Cavs in twenty sixteen. I left the court,
walked to the locker room. I got to my seat,
and for me, it was just such a whirld and
I'm like, man, we just lost. Man. And I got
to my seat, I'm like, what am I doing? I
got out my seat, walks back out there, shook everybody up,
congratulated there, and then went back to the locker room, like,
(13:40):
don't be that guy. You don't want to be that guy.
You ain't right.

Speaker 1 (15:33):
All right, dumb nation, ya though, what's cracking the area?
Steph Curry showed up in the second half, in the
fourth quarter. He scored fourteen of his twenty two points.
He led throughout the game, and he was waiting for
his moment. Talk about his preparation or what was what
(15:55):
you saw with him during the game. It felt like
he was pacing himself for that time.
Speaker 2 (16:02):
I don't think he was necessarily pacing himself. I think,
you know, one thing, or being patient or being patient.
He was definitely patient. But you know, everybody been talking
about the meeting. You know, I spoke my piece in
the meeting, and one of the things that Steph said
in the meeting, he said, controller controllables. That's essentially what
Draymond is saying. Controller controllables control what you can control.
(16:25):
So I know I can control turn not turn the
ball over. I know I can control what I do
on the defensive end. I know I can control getting
loose balls. I'm going to control those things. And so
I'm saying that one of the things that Steve had
said to myself, and I'm sure he said the things
the same thing to Steph. He when when we sat
and had that conversation that everybody's talking about. One of
(16:48):
the things he said to me, he said, it's my
job to tell you what it means for you leading tonight,
like what we need from your leadership tonight is my
job to emotionally prepare you for that. He gave me
some gems over there. But they're saying that Steph's job
last night was to not turn the ball over, and
so he played such a patient game because he wasn't
(17:10):
going to take any risk. He was going to not
turn the ball over because that's what it required for
us to win that game. You know what Dons do
when it's time to win the game seven, They do
what's required. You know, when we played in Sacramento, you
know what was required to him. It was required to
him to get fifty for us to win, and John
when it got fifty. Dons do what they have to
(17:33):
do when it needs to be done, and that's what
the game called for from Steph and he was patient,
and then he took over when it was time to
send them boys home on their way, he took over
and he did what he had to do down to
stretch him and Jimmy buckets, you know. So it was,
you know, it was. It was beautiful to see his
(17:54):
floor game.
Speaker 1 (17:55):
I like watching that version of Steph Curry. That is
my favorite version of Steph Curry. Lent the team in rebounds,
steals blocks.
Speaker 2 (18:07):
But.
Speaker 1 (18:09):
His pace, right, his pace, even though he playing at
the same high frequency, the way he was thinking about
the game, the way he was involving people. He turned
down opportunities for another opportunity, knowing that the opportunity was
gonna come back. It was magical to see super duperstars, right,
(18:32):
iconic players operate and paint at a different.
Speaker 2 (18:39):
Pace than everybody else.
Speaker 1 (18:40):
Right fact fact, it was like, who oh, hold on, okay,
He leading the team in rebounds, he doing all the
little things, yeap that, like you say, control that cover,
you gotta come for yourself. And then Jimmy went on
his own six ho o' run in the fourth.
Speaker 2 (18:56):
To put the game away.
Speaker 1 (18:58):
We see the dynamic of what's Steph controlling the game
and what Steph can do in the fourth quarter than
that Jimmy dynamic of Hey, you paying so much attention
to Steph Curry the go Jimmy with the misos I
told you about, right, he gets big buckets because people
forget that he's on the floor for some strange reason.
(19:22):
They forget that he on the floor because he wind
up with an ISO. They don't double right, and he
gets to a spot and he's man, he's money. Yes,
he is now Jimmy's great man offensively and defensively, a
presence his IQ. Jimmy be out there talking everybody through
(19:42):
everything like, yo, we do this, just do this, this
will kill him, just do that thing.
Speaker 2 (19:47):
Do this. He diabolical with it. Man, It's so dope
to be on the side. When you play somebody in
the playoffs, you get to see what's real. Obviously we
never got the opportunity to play Jimmy in the playoffs,
and so to play with him and being the playoffs, like,
just get to see it. It's really excited me again,
(20:07):
it's real.
Speaker 1 (20:09):
Congratulations on game seven, moving right along second round uh
oh uh.
Speaker 2 (20:17):
Oh uh oh the TS.
Speaker 1 (20:23):
Yeah, y'all still the underdog in this series. Y'all got
the t Wolves on deck. I know you've seen the video.
You have to see the video. It's been playing on
social media. I don't know if you got your social zone.
But two years ago, Anthony Edwards he said.
Speaker 2 (20:38):
I want to play Warriors. I want to get to
some Warriors wherever they are. I want to get to them.
That's why the Warriors so much. I mean, Dremond talked
so much trash. That's pretty much the only reason. Well, Anthony,
that was coming for you. You know, even if you
don't have your social media as on, people gonna make
sure you see everything. You got a phone on, you
(21:00):
will see And so of course I've seen it, but
I remember the video. I live when I saw the video. Again,
that's who man is. I've stated on the show already,
like if there's two guys that I think talk to
that talk m that's young. It was a man and
Jah you know, so like that's who a man is,
(21:22):
and he continued to be that guy. I respect that.
It is what it is. I'm looking forward to the series.
I think, you know he gonna play obviously a huge
role for the Timberwolves. I'm gonna play a huge role
for us, you know, but this series ain't about me
versus a man or who can I'll talk who this is?
You know, this is about high level basketball. Who gonna execute,
(21:45):
who gonna have the best game plan, who gonna follow
that game? Playing? Stars be stars. That's what this is about.
So you know, I love how the Internet try to
make things like us and man versus Draymond. But then
they also say Draymond is nobody. So I don't understand
how they like they be a little confused, you know,
but you know, it is what it is. And had
(22:06):
a great playoff series, you know, in that Laker series,
and you know I'm looking for into the mat show.
Speaker 1 (22:13):
Yeah, I do know what this series just about. What's
that it's about? If Draymond Green get two more flavoring
files or three more texts in the playoffs, that means
there's a one game suspension. No, yeah, yeah, I don't
(22:34):
told you, bro, I didn't told you. Maybe I shouldn't
seen you the last album. Maybe I should sing you
the year love or R and B playlist, Yeah.
Speaker 2 (22:42):
I'll take I'll take a great RB playlist. You got
a great R and B playlist because I had to
use that to get through that rocket series. Man, But bro,
I gotta tex yesterday, I'm patching the ball, like, come on, man,
it's crazy technical foul. Elbowed me in my face right
in front of the referee referees. Just look, I just
(23:05):
took off on the court, like I don't understand, man,
that man smacked right across my arms. That got hit
in the face, and I got a text.
Speaker 1 (23:13):
And I have to remind you you are also the
first person they got a technical file on the offensive
file and one.
Speaker 2 (23:24):
It's nuts like so I don't know, man, Like yeah, Like,
don't get me wrong. I do things that give me text,
give me favorites, but I'm also not I'm just not
referee with by the same referees under the same rules.
Like nah, for sure, it's not like anybody else with fever.
They don't even review it. Like so you know, my
(23:48):
best not to get suspended. But at the end of
the day, I'm also a different set of rules and
it ain't always we gotta make a better something you
can't be getting. Like two more, I didn't say a
word to referees yesterday, I still got a tack. Here's
the thing, now, go there. I made it a point yesterday,
(24:11):
even with my team, I told them I'm not talking
to referees. I made it a complete point. I still
got a technical foul. Like so at a certain point,
like there's nothing I can do, like it is what
it is.
Speaker 1 (24:23):
At a certain point, you gotta think, like the technical
foul with the rep is all the way right here.
Everybody else you know, they're down here on the on
their leg, but they they ready, so they technical file.
Speaker 2 (24:39):
They hit you up here. I can't worried about that,
Like I'm gonna get you, I'm gonna get unfair shaking.
Speaker 1 (24:48):
I just I just know you and Rudy go there.
This is a match up waiting to see.
Speaker 2 (24:56):
Oh yeah, well you know I am starting saying.
Speaker 1 (25:04):
The last time I was at the game and you
and Rudy go beer player, I literally was like, man,
I'm about to go get me a drink. I'm gonna
go sit down, the game about to start, the game starts,
I'm like, all right, let me go get a drink.
I come back to my seat. You're walking off the car.
(25:26):
When was that golden standard? I think it was last year.
Speaker 2 (25:31):
Last year. Oh man, I've grown so much as a
human beer since that moment. I was just remind you
we're not relasting. Yes, Hey, hey you have a lot,
a lot. I have to give you credit. I just know.
Speaker 1 (25:53):
You and Rudio Bear that's my matchup. Because it's gonna
be it's gonna be. I say, it's gonna be some Shenanigans,
it's gonna be fit Cali Be. You know, just be
careful out there because no doubt people bait.
Speaker 2 (26:05):
Right.
Speaker 1 (26:06):
And then did you know the last time Jimmy Butler
played against the Minnesota Timberwolves at the Target Center was
November twenty fourth, twenty twenty one.
Speaker 2 (26:16):
Nah, I didn't know that.
Speaker 1 (26:18):
And you know that Jimmy and the fans, they got
a lot of history. So I'm looking forward. I mean,
there's so many story lines with this one. A man
Steph and coming by the Icon, Draymond, Jimmy Butler, nas Reed,
Rudy go Beart, and I think Minnesota they got a
(26:42):
lot of underrated players side Yeah, similar to Golden State
Dante Divincenza. He's explosive. You see what McDaniels did. He
was bothering Yeah, you know, he was bothering Mike Colly.
Big shots. This is gonna be a game way different
(27:04):
I think than Houston because it's gonna be a probably
a slower pace, it's gonna be more possession oriented, and
whoever win the rebound turnover I think whens and the
three point shooting wins the game.
Speaker 2 (27:22):
Yeah, so it's a much different series, even just from
a personnel standpoint, Like it's a completely different series than
the one we just play. You know, sometimes you get
series back to back where you're like, Yo, we just
played a team that play like this, Like these two
teams play totally. They couldn't be further apart from the
way teams play, you know, And so it's a completely
(27:43):
different series that we're gonna have to make an adjustment to.
I think we're a completely different team than the Lakers
that they'll have to make an adjustment to. You know.
So like as you know, once you get to the
playoffs and second round with the conference finals, it's all
about adjustments. Players got to play great, you know, but
you get in those first two three games, you're figuring
(28:05):
them out, they're figuring you out. You know, we just
got to come out. We gotta play hard, We gotta
stick to our principles, you know what I'm saying. And
you feel the series like that skyle of report gets
more and more in depth. That's the series goal when
you you know, sometimes you start a series off and
you're like, Yo, we're gonna do this with this guy
before you know, at three games and you're like, yo,
(28:26):
we're actually going total opposite of that, like we wanted.
And so that's just the way the playoffs are. So
we'll fill that out, you know, over the course of
the next you know, two three games. But playing hard
is what gets you win to start the series. And
then you have to play with IQ and with the
you know, with the understanding of what they're trying to do.
(28:48):
So that's where we are with.
Speaker 1 (28:50):
It's almost beneficial to come in right after game seven
into a new series because you already used to the
contact playing against a team that is polar opposite. I
feel one Minnesota is a better matchup for you guys
on paper, like y'all match and mesh well, coming out
(29:13):
the Houston series that was that was not the best
matchup because of their youth, the athleticism, the length right,
the way that they attack. You got two big seven footers.
I like this Minnesota matchup. I like to talk about
real quick preparation because you've been on it, like you've
been on both of ends, coming out of Game seven,
(29:35):
going into a game one, sitting back for a game one,
watching the game seven, and scouting a team defensively in preparation.
Speaker 2 (29:45):
Which one do you favor? I think for me, I'd
always favorite the rest, being able to scout a team,
have longer's time to prepare. They didn't get too much
time to prepare because in a sense, they had to
prepare for both as well, but you know they got
a little more time to just sit back and watch.
You know, anytime you can get rest throughout the playoffs
(30:06):
and rejuvenate. It's a long season, man. I think that's
been official. On the flip side, sometimes you can get
too much rest and you can kind of need that
game conditioning back and shake a little russ off little
or as opposed to we played it a day ago.
You know, sometimes it you know, you just saw it,
like how you feel, yeah, like you know you saw
the Knicks Celtics. Celtics have been waiting for the game,
(30:29):
you know, so like it can go both ways. I
personally would prefer the rest, though, that's just I've been
through like you said seven. I've been through sweeps and
had to wait for a series that went seven. Regardless,
I think anytime you can get rest during the playoffs
where high level athletes, you can figure the other part out.
(30:49):
How you think how you see the series going?
Speaker 1 (30:52):
Like I said, it's turnovers, threebounds and who list three
point shots, neutralizing, go bear neutralized, and Julius random. Make
Julius Randall a jump shooter. Make Anthony Edwards a jump shooter.
This is gonna be a tough series. I think you
go to distance six or seven games. I don't like
(31:14):
making predictions because they'd be kicking my ass on Twitter
every time I say something, but I definitely think this
series is gonna go go seven. I think if y'all
can steal one of these first two games, Minnesota.
Speaker 2 (31:30):
Is different. It's different than the Lakers.
Speaker 1 (31:33):
They were up and they have so they have so
many motives and motivations for that Lakers series that if
y'all can get game one or game two, I think
it turned the series in you favor. But I definitely
feel the game seven the West gonna be tough. I
don't think anybody is in these two rounds. I don't
(31:56):
see no sweeps. I don't see no four ones. If
I do, I'll be They're very surprised. This is the
matchup I've been waiting to see. I think this is
a fair, a fair, fair matchup. They'll match up well.
They match up well against y'all. I have to give
you all the advantage because of experience. And then on
the other side, coaching Minnesota, I watched the Laker game
(32:19):
and they close the Lakers out. They played well, but
I saw them they take mental dives, they take like
mental breaks, and the Lakers they don't shoot the three
like y'all. That could bite them to because they play
like this. They never like take you all the way out.
(32:39):
But they're a tough team. They're tough, te resilient, and
they're super talented. And I think that they have because
of the talent, they got a larger margin for air
because they can cover defensively and on offense.
Speaker 2 (32:56):
That's a fact. Definitely a great rail around the team.
Let's move around this league real quick. We got a
Knicks versus Celtics Game one, Knicks go into TV guard
and it's still won. What are your expectations? How long
(33:17):
does this series go? Og had twenty nine. Jalen had
twenty nine, mike L Bridges fifty one minutes iron Man.
The Celtics miss forty five three pointers. J t and
Jylen Brown combined for fourteen for forty three and five
for twenty five from three.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
I like the Knicks rolling with the Knicks, It's next
till I died, Baby, It's next till I died.
Speaker 2 (33:39):
Next tape all day.
Speaker 1 (33:40):
But I matchups the next matchup well against Boston. If
Jalen Brunson can Jalen Brunson in the fourth quarter, Boston
got problems jew Holiday he was playing. He played some
good def but Jalen Brow and is unguardable in the
(34:01):
fourth quarter. Then you look at Og hitting the three.
Speaker 2 (34:06):
McHale bridges. He can defend.
Speaker 1 (34:09):
So when I look at Jason Tatum, Jaylen Brown, what
I was saying with the Knicks Boston is a penetrate drive. Kid,
create open spaces, open shots. Because they really got five
shooters out there on the floor. The Knicks with the matchup,
they was actually closing the pack down. And so every
shot that Boston took, whether it was three, it was
(34:32):
three feet behind the line. Rarely did they get a
lot of open looks, and I think that kind of
disrupted their flow. When they did get open looks, they
rushed it or they just shot bad shots. So if
the Nates can keep Boston as a perimeter oriented team,
which they are, they shoot a lot of threes, but
if they can defend that three. I like the Knicks
(34:52):
in this series because I don't feel like Boston has
anybody that can really guard Jalen Bruns and then Kat
that is a mismatch in the series. Kat can be
an ultimate mismatch in this series, and I didn't think
that he had the best game, So I'll be looking
out for Kat to be explosive. And then it's a
(35:15):
matter if heart mcal bridges og with all the minutes
they playing, if they can if they can sustain, But
it's always next for me. I like the players, but
I'm not a Boston I'm not a Boston Celtics fan
at all.
Speaker 2 (35:31):
Anybody understand that it's me all day. But no, I
think the Knicks, like you said, I think they do
match up well. I think where the matchup kind of
can to in the Knicks favors. I don't know the
severity of Porzinger's injury. But Porzingis. Porzingis is a big
key for that team because he punishes switches really well.
(35:56):
And so Porzingis, like I said, if he don't come back,
then this series getting really hard. He comes back, I
think the Celtics will be just fine. They can still
be fine if he doesn't come back, but Porzingis makes
that team really go, like really take off. And so
(36:16):
he's a miss mess Brabo. Yeah, and when it shoots
four space and the way he shooting, like all can
shoot three, but the way Porzingi shoots the three different,
it's completely different, you know what I'm saying. So I
think Boston will be fine. But if Porzingis can't come back,
he can get tough. But in saying that, they missed
forty five point three pointers and lost by three, so
(36:37):
I don't think they going home work. They was up
twenty now they were and miss forty five three pointers. Like,
so you know, I think Boston will be just fine.
If you want my honest opinion.
Speaker 1 (36:48):
May say, baby, let's go Nick Caz versus Pacers. On Sunday,
the Pacers walked into Cleveland and snuck out Game one,
Darius Garland with a toe injury. There's no news when
he's coming back or will he when he will return.
Tyres Halliburton, he did it. He pushed the Pacers. Can
(37:10):
they get to the next round.
Speaker 2 (37:12):
I don't like this Pacer team.
Speaker 1 (37:14):
Man.
Speaker 2 (37:14):
They people sleep on their talent. They like eight nine
d and talented. The Calves got some injuries they're dealing with.
That matters. Health. Health matters in the playoffs a lot.
They have that going or not going for themselves. They
got Darius Grler who hasn't played in three games. I
think they have DeAndre Hunter got hurt yesterday. Evin Mobley
(37:38):
got hurt yesterday. You know, they're going in the game too,
a little beat up and he going in the game too,
hobbled against a team that's doing this. Yeah, they running now.
I do think they are a good matchup for the
Calves because the Cavs got those bigs and Pascal and
(37:58):
Miles Turner don't play in the pad now they will go,
you know, Pascal aal to do his thing, go down.
But they play from the outside and that pulls them
bigs away from the rim, you know. And they were
getting switches on Mobley, and they were getting the switches
on Jared Allen, and that's what they was going for.
Nim har had a big game them Harby balling, evening,
(38:18):
even hooping. Ty Reeves had a big game. Obi Topping
been incredible off the bench, I think for the second
half of the season, at least incredible. TJ McConnell doing
what he does. So you know, they got a series
on their hand for sure, and they better get healthy.
If they don't get healthy, they can get upset. They
can get upset, that's for sure. Nothing's promised. Regular season
(38:40):
only means something for the regular season. And then you know,
so I like the Calves, but they must get healthy.
They ain't just gonna beat this team not healthy. Now,
the patience took a page out of Calves book.
Speaker 1 (38:53):
Plus twenty five assists, six people in double digits. The
other two has seven and fifteen minutes. TJ McConnell, Obi
Topping and everybody had assists.
Speaker 2 (39:05):
Everybody.
Speaker 1 (39:06):
That means they was whipping the ball, moving the ball,
finding the mismatch. If Tyrese Halliburton can dictate where he
gets to the floor and draw those bigs out on
the perimeter, it's gonna it's gonna change the way Cleveland
has to play in this series, and I would say
advantage pacers.
Speaker 2 (39:29):
And the PACER's been there before. Yep, you know, so
we'll see, we shall see. Man shout out to Kenny Atkinson,
Coach of the Year. Uh, y'all know, I got mad
love for Kenny. So my god, shout out to my
guy Kenny job, well done, Congratulations my man. Shout out Kenny.
Man before we get out of here. Uh, Thunder Nuggets,
(39:50):
that game is actually coming towards there right now. Thunder
versus Nuggets. Who you got? Who you rolling? What you're
rolling with? Denver? You're rolling with? Okay, see what we
got man?
Speaker 1 (40:00):
Oh man got another game seven? I think this series
goes seven. Matchups, matchups, matchups. Okay, see, you got the
most talent and the most debt. But after what the
Junker did to the Clippers, man, it's hard to go
against that.
Speaker 2 (40:15):
That that young man got championship. Man, he got champed.
Speaker 1 (40:19):
They got championship pedigree, DNA, and they fight to the end.
That's the only reason why they beat the Clippers. They
just kept fighting. They kept fighting. And if there is
a lapse and the defense of your offense, that's where
Denver takes control.
Speaker 2 (40:36):
They play all the way to the end.
Speaker 1 (40:39):
Russ all those guys play all the way to the end.
So this is gonna be an interesting series because it's
gonna be can okay See consistently make shots from outside Den?
We're gonna plays old Den, We're gonna switch a lot.
What is How is Shaye gonna control the game? And
how can the other guys on okay See make shots
(41:00):
to make plays for each other?
Speaker 2 (41:01):
Yeah, man, I think it's definitely gonna be a tough series.
Like I said, championship pedigree, okay See, who got the
most talent? I think Denver they got that championship pedigree.
Guys that'sn't been there, Guys that know how to do it.
Jamal Murray seems to have found his you know, it's footing.
So I think you know, it's gonna be a dog fight.
Speaker 1 (41:21):
Man.
Speaker 2 (41:22):
You know, I ain't really into making predictions in the West,
but it's gonna be a dog fight.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
So I do think okay See got the wings to
contain Denver, So that's gonna that's gonna be the deciding
fact that you ain't gonna be able to stop Joker, Caruso,
dor Wiggins, all those dudes, can you have.
Speaker 2 (41:43):
A greater impact on the game than Michael Porter, Westbrook,
bro Brown, right, Aaron Gordon.
Speaker 1 (41:51):
That's that's that's what this series is gonna be about.
Speaker 2 (41:54):
Man, before we get out of here, got to salute
coach Pop retireing San Antonio Spurs head coach. I saw
his press conference today, he said, I'm no longer coach,
I'm lak coach Pop Man. He I actually had the
opportunity to play for him in the Olympics, and man,
(42:18):
I got so much love for Coach Pop. Uh to
see him lead a sideline. It sucks because he's one
of those guys that you know the inevitable, right, Like
you know there's an end date, but you never really
see it and you never really want to see it.
And man, he's such a great person, a great human being.
The fact that I got the opportunity to share and
(42:41):
win in a gold medal with him just such a
special guy. Man. I spoke. I spoke about him in
a press conference the day that they announced it, and
I almost started crying. And I'm speaking about him again
and I'm about to start crying again, Like that's that's
his impact, and that's how amazing he is. So I
(43:02):
look forward to getting out to San Antonio and seeing
him this summer. But job well done, Coach Pop. You changed,
You changed the game as we know it. And you
you built the dynasty, You built the powerhouse. You built
one of the better organizations in in our league. And
it's you know, the way you credit your guys and
(43:26):
doing that with you is like the selflessness wonderful come man,
So salute the coach Pop. Thank you for what you
brought to the game. Thank you for allowing me to
be coached by you and do something special with you.
I hold that close to my heart. I love you,
Coach Pop. Appreciate you man.
Speaker 1 (43:46):
I at all that we didn't want to go medal,
but I was on the Olympic team and I got
a chance to be able to sit next to Coach
Pop when he was an assistant coach. George Carr was
the hand coach. So yeah, that was one of the
turmoil teams. But Pop kept me in it. Pob kept
(44:06):
my mind in it. He was somebody you can talk like.
He looked like a tough dude. Yeah, well he liked
the funny, charismatic love the game and you know, to
be on the team and to see who he is
as a person. Then to play against him and to
know like he got respect for you is a big
(44:29):
thing playing against the San Antonio Spurs. The way he
coached everything. When I'm coaching the kids or when I'm coaching,
I always think like Pop if I were to coach,
and now that I'm coaching, I think like Pop calling
early timeouts, sitting my style like man. One time he
called us time out. We playing man. He set the
(44:50):
whole starting fall, start fire, get up out of here.
Speaker 2 (44:53):
And they still beat us, and they still beat us.
Speaker 1 (44:58):
And I realized that as a visionary, he was always
coaching for the future.
Speaker 2 (45:05):
He was always prepping you for the future.
Speaker 1 (45:07):
He was always prepping his teams for the future, for
the playoffs, for situations, different players that he used, and man,
just just what an incredible basketball mind, but what an
incredible leader, right, what an incredible basketball godfather.
Speaker 2 (45:23):
To everybody.
Speaker 1 (45:25):
And then I mean as far as his spirit and
his energy and and his vision for bringing international players
and putting them on one team.
Speaker 2 (45:35):
Yep, I salute you, Pop Man. We love you. L FE.
I'm gonna call you quick to buy you a bottle
of wine like even.
Speaker 1 (45:46):
If you don't, you know, play on the same team.
I used to see him pay for his players dinners.
Speaker 2 (45:51):
Like I was in going to stage.
Speaker 1 (45:53):
Just man A one a one a one one one
one salute pop.
Speaker 2 (46:00):
We love you man, Yes, sir, that's a rock man.
We appreciate y'all tuning in. We will chat later on
in these playoffs, but we love y'all. We appreciate support.
Don't have without y'all. Make sure y'all grab that merch
til next time. That's a rap from The Draymond Green
Show with BD. Good luck round two, my bro, we out.
(46:23):
I see game three or four, I'll be up there.
Let's say last, Let's get it volume
