Speaker 1 (00:00):
Gotta speak about SGA the season that he had one
of four players to win the scoring title, MVP and
finals MVP.

Speaker 2 (00:07):
You're the number one stun er. What well? What? What?

Speaker 3 (00:13):
What's up? Everybody?

Speaker 1 (00:14):
Welcome back to the Draymond Green Show with Baron Davis.

Speaker 2 (00:18):
What up my dog?

Speaker 3 (00:19):
How you doing? Bro?

Speaker 2 (00:20):
What some big dog.

Speaker 3 (00:22):
Yet the world? I'm back at the crib now. I've
been all over the place, I tell you what.

Speaker 1 (00:30):
This past weekend I was at Fanatics fast crazy, Wow, Wow.

Speaker 3 (00:38):
I don't know how Michael polled his stuff off that
he does. Fun.

Speaker 2 (00:43):
It was cool, it was incredible.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
Man like as and.

Speaker 1 (00:50):
Obviously I didn't even get the opportunity to take it
in how a fan would receive it, but I can
imagine as a sports fan.

Speaker 3 (01:00):
Hmm, unbelievable, unbelievable. Wow. But uh yeah, bro.

Speaker 1 (01:08):
Now, you know, back in the gym on the court,
I've been lifting and stuff, man, you know, all that
stuff the whole time.

Speaker 3 (01:15):
But back on the court, I feel good to get
back out there.

Speaker 1 (01:19):
Kind of let the nicking, you know, the Knicks and
Nat Hill up after our three and a half myth
playoff Bush.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
Yeah, look, if you if you need a practice dummy man.
You know, while you're working yourself back, if you need
somebody to score on you and just you know, keep
you frustrated, keep your on me.

Speaker 2 (01:42):
Keep it.

Speaker 4 (01:42):
That's crazy, that's crazy. That's crazy. How I really feel
like I could score on you at will.

Speaker 1 (01:51):
Let us not forget you threw your back out getting
up off the floor, couldn't go to the pop up.

Speaker 3 (01:57):
We will not forget.

Speaker 4 (01:58):
That's because I was I was killing.

Speaker 3 (02:04):
We would not forget that moment in time.

Speaker 2 (02:07):
I was killing before it happened.

Speaker 1 (02:11):
Let's just relax ourselves. We would not forget the sad time.
If you need to practice, dummy man, I'm here.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
You know I appreciate your generality.

Speaker 1 (02:25):
In today's episode, we'll discuss the recent trades, share our
reactions just from the season, from the finals, NBA Draft,
and then also with the conclusion of this season that
means I am headed into my fourteenth season.

Speaker 3 (02:44):
Crazy wow, unbelievable.

Speaker 1 (02:48):
So we'll talk about all that stuff, but let's just
get at it. Uh KD was that fanatics fast which
we just spoke about in the middle of an interview
when he was traded to the Houston Rockets, And there
are some conspiracy theories floating around. So I must have

(03:08):
asked you before we get into the trade, what side
of the conspiracy theory to use? That though, they said
kat chose for that news to come come out on
Sunday because he wanted do overshadow the thunder. I personally,
I don't think KT is that type of guy. But

(03:30):
that's what people try to say.

Speaker 2 (03:32):
No, I ain't rocking with that.

Speaker 3 (03:35):
That's great, man, I can't about that. I can't rock
with the conspiracy theories.

Speaker 4 (03:39):
A lot of times, you know, these trades they happen,
and they just happened, like the desperation of the team
to get it done, and then information travel fast in
our sport, right, So Katie, the players the last person
an that.

Speaker 3 (03:57):
They're getting traded.

Speaker 4 (03:58):
Fact always so him finding out on stage and you
know at the festival for fanatics, that could possibly be
you know real. I mean, maybe he knew, maybe he
had to just like he I mean, maybe he knew
it was coming. But at the same time, doing the interview,

(04:21):
the fan reaction, right, and the.

Speaker 2 (04:24):
Call out from the fan. That's what I liked about
the content.

Speaker 4 (04:27):
Uh, you know, seeing fans and seeing how media travels
so fast, you know, now the player is really the
last person to know. If you're not on social media
or like a KD, you don't feel like asking.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
Your phone for two days, you shouldn't.

Speaker 4 (04:45):
Then everybody find out that you find you know, and
then you find out like damn for real?

Speaker 1 (04:50):
Is it possible that we can create this situation for everyone?
Like you think about how many guys have the bad
story Harrison Ball can trade a while on the bench,
DeMarcus Cousins getting traded, finding out he's traded in the
middle of an interview after the All Star Game? Do
you think that this is a way the NBA? Like,

(05:13):
should this be a requirement for the NBA? Just like
for guys not to look stupid or you know, because
those as happy as Katie was right like for most
to your point, for most guys, they could find that
out sitting on that stage and they don't know.

Speaker 2 (05:31):
Right I think.

Speaker 4 (05:34):
I mean, I'm kind of like yes and no, because
part of working for a team, or part of being
on team management is you know what if you just
want to trade somebody just because you think it's a
good deal, now you got I mean, if you're saying
the first person, I think the first person that should
be told is the actual player.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 2 (05:57):
Yeah, I agree with yeah.

Speaker 1 (05:59):
Because I think, you know, for most for most players, right,
like of course you're not going to be in the
driver's seat like Kevin Durant was, But there should be
some type of system, some type of fine system, like yo,
just get out before these players and this player's camp
is alerted, like that's an.

Speaker 3 (06:15):
Issue, you know what. But I think that should Yeah,
go ahead.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
I think there should be ultimately some type of guideline
to be uphell you know that, because it can be
a great thing, right, But at the same time, like
just finding out wherever your feet.

Speaker 4 (06:34):
That's crazy, it's Hella gray, right because think about it,
like the media is always gonna find out before you
that you got traded because they the one doing all
the digging, right, so soon as the trade happened one
side on the other side, I mean, obviously they should

(06:55):
contact the player, but the player is still gonna feel like.

Speaker 3 (06:59):
He didn't know.

Speaker 2 (07:00):
Yeah, right.

Speaker 4 (07:01):
I remember getting traded from the Clippers to Cleveland, and
Bennie del Nagro sat down and was like, oh man,
you know, we like what we like, what we like,
We're gonna sit you down.

Speaker 2 (07:15):
You know, don't even worry about playing. Don't worry about
playing New Orleans.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
I'm in the.

Speaker 4 (07:19):
Locker room and the media lady came up to me,
She's like, you know, you're getting traded, right. I was like,
hell no, for real? You know, I was like, hell no,
for real, bro. It was shocked. I was shocked, right,
I was shocked.

Speaker 3 (07:38):
So how did you react to that?

Speaker 2 (07:39):
Though? Like him? Uh, you know, I still fire. I
still fire.

Speaker 4 (07:45):
But by the time the game was over, by the
time I got to the bus, they was like, well,
the train ain't happening.

Speaker 2 (07:52):
It ain't happening yet. I gotta say, you know, I.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Got family in New Orleans, say buy to my family,
get on the bus, and then on my teammates finding
out right it looked like.

Speaker 2 (08:04):
Then we get on the plane and it happened.

Speaker 4 (08:06):
So I got to fly back home with the Clippers,
with Bennie Del Nagro, all the players on the team.
So I decided that, you know, I've been quiet over
here for two and a half years. I ain't really
said that, I ain't really said nothing to nobody. I've been,
you know, keeping it low key. So I just went

(08:29):
up to each person and just kind of told him
how I felt about him and how I'm gonna continue
to feel about Some of it was love, some of
it was just like, you know, critique, but it was
more so like I wasn't really trip by the time
I got off the plane, I wasn't really tripping anyway, right,

(08:50):
I was like, it is what it is. But it
was important for me to kind of like get that
angst off my chest because I was, you know, you
did with some when you're not winning, you dealing with
some busters. And at a certain point of the league,
the league was shifting to like where it is now,

(09:12):
so there was gonna be a conflict between what's old
and what's new. That they work hard for it or
they entitled like we had to do all this, they
not doing nothing, you know. And then to your point,
like the media knowing management not really, I'm you know,
I got beef with management, so it can happen at

(09:33):
any time. They did approach me and ask me for
a buyout, which I probably should have took, uh, you know,
considering the circumstances that if I look back, it wasn't
as bad a deal as I thought it would would be.
To like get up out of there. But yeah, I
just let everybody know how I feel. Sat down with everybody,

(09:54):
sat down with the young dudes, like DJ told them, like, yo, bro,
like you could you could do something, you know, like
don't get caught up and all the shit that you
saw me caught up in. You know, just just hoop.
You know, it's gonna be different front for you, you know
what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (10:10):
So question, after this happened and you could have taken
the buyout but you didn't, your next deal, what was
your next deal you signed after this contract that you
were currently thinking about taking the buyout on, what was
the next deal you signed?

Speaker 4 (10:26):
I think it was like this was like my uh,
I was already like two years into my last deal,
so my next deal was like a two year deal
because I was hurt.

Speaker 3 (10:41):
But how much like was it more than minimum? Now?

Speaker 2 (10:45):
I don't need to I think it was like a
round the minimum.

Speaker 3 (10:48):
Okay, Because the question I had was, I feel like.

Speaker 1 (10:53):
When you do take bios in this league, where you
say it may have been a great situation, but I
feel like when you do take bios in this it's
almost hard to get off the minimum from that point
over four.

Speaker 2 (11:05):
Yeah, I think, well, I would have probably not been hurt.

Speaker 4 (11:11):
Went to Charlotte right, got a chance to get back
with Jay Rich and stack in the East Coast, so
I won't worry about the minimum, you know what I mean,
because I was still I was still one of the
illest uh huh. But it was just I was playing
for the Clippers, okay, right, And so it was hard.

(11:36):
It was hard to wake up every day, and you
gotta deal with so much drama before you can actually
play basketball. You gotta do all this talking before you
can shoot a basketball. You gotta do all this scouting
and all this shit. And it's like, man, can we
just play five on five one day and everybody shut
the fuck up?

Speaker 2 (11:58):
Like that's how we get better?

Speaker 4 (12:00):
Right, But it was just, you know, it was just
like where you know, it just warmed me. It just
warmed me. So but I was still good and I
was still you know, I can get whatever numbers at
that point, I can get whatever numbers I wanted, depending
on how to floor the game or what my perspective
of the game. So leaving I probably would have had

(12:22):
a better opportunity to, Like I was not hurt to
pick up and then take off again somewhere else, right, Okay.

Speaker 3 (12:31):
But speaking of the trade, biomarkus all that.

Speaker 1 (12:36):
Obviously the Phoenix Suns has agreed on the Blockbussel trade
said at fifteen times NBA All Star two time final
MVP Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green,
Dylan Brooks, the number ten pick in this year's NBA Drive,
and five second round picks. So just taking that into account,

(12:59):
obviously the deal is done. Now, you know, what's your
take on these new little Rockets at Kdan?

Speaker 4 (13:05):
You know, man, that was gonna be That was gonna
be my question to you. You know, I've been saying
that KD is an upgrade when you think about what
the Rockets needed. They need efficient scoring and what KD
brings in presence his offensive awareness, his defensive awareness, his

(13:29):
overall I'm aiming to win a championship. I think it's
a fair trade, right. I wanted to know how you
felt because I was analyzing y'all game and y'all series
as the reason why this trade happened. Because when you

(13:50):
look at a Jalen Green and you look at Dylan
Brooks and you say, when they played well.

Speaker 2 (13:56):
Did the Rockets win more than likely?

Speaker 4 (14:01):
Yeah, I'm saying no. In in that series against Golden State,
right in that series, Jalen Green had one great game,
right they won. Dylan Brooks, let's say he was as consistent.
He was consistent, right, he didn't like he had a
consistent series. Jalen Green had an up and down series.

(14:25):
Right now, you start looking at who could they rely on?
Van flicks and go and Thompson yep, and so Thompson leaped.

Speaker 1 (14:36):
From I would say that Here's what I was saying,
No one gives some credit.

Speaker 3 (14:41):
But also I thought Javari Smith was.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
That's what I was saying. Yes, I thought so too.

Speaker 1 (14:47):
And I thought Jabari Smith worked his way back from
almost going the wrong way as the number two pick
to like hold on, I don't like I can compete
at this level. And I think he worked his way
back and will probably be in the our lineup on
this Rockets team moving forward, and I think well deserved.
So you know, when I look at it, and you
know you mentioned those two guys that listen, anytime you

(15:09):
can add Kevin Durant, it's an upgrade. I don't care
who you are as a team, any team in the
world in basketball.

Speaker 3 (15:17):
If you add Kevin Durant, it's an upgrade.

Speaker 1 (15:20):
Now you start speaking on like if you add Kevin
Durant for Steph Curry.

Speaker 3 (15:24):
Now those are different conversations.

Speaker 1 (15:25):
But if you're just in this case, you know, or
in most cases, you add Kevin Durant to the roster,
it's going to be an upgrade. So make no mistake
about it. You know, everybody trying to make like these
conversation pieces. It's Katie. You add him to the roster,
Your roster is better. Now you talk about now, if

(15:49):
you want to discuss the business of basketball, then you
have a different discussion when you start talking about salary
and what happens with caps, and that's a totally different question.
But that's not what we're talking about here. What we're
talking about here is you add Katie to that team,
it's that team better. And where they struggled was you know,
Jalen had a very tough playoff series. You'd like to

(16:13):
think if he had a better playoff series, they win.
Who knows, but you'd like to at least think that
Dylan Brooks was, like you said, he was consistent all year.
He played well, he shot the ball really well this year.
Dylan Brooks is who he is. On a contract, like
Dylan Brooks own, you will always kind of be the
throw in piece, yeah, you know, and that's just kind

(16:35):
of the nature nature of the business. I don't think
Dylan Brooks was traded because Dylan Brooks did anything wrong.
And in this situation, I think Dylan Brooks was traded because,
quite honestly, that's how this business works. And your contract
make the money work. They wont Kevin Durant, your contract.

Speaker 3 (16:51):
Make the money work.

Speaker 1 (16:52):
And you know, when you look at the way this
team has been built, of course they're going to trade
throw throw Dylan saying to make that money work. Before
they throw Jabbar's smith in Orf they throw Taris like
these these young guys that were drafted by this general manager.

Speaker 3 (17:11):
Now Jalen Green Russ as well.

Speaker 1 (17:12):
He ain't gonna just get rid of all the people
he drafted, you know, he got rid of one. And
so I think when I look at this, it's an upgrade.
KD has his familiarity with Amy Doka as a coach.
I think KD still wants to compete at a high level,
and I think this team like when you look at

(17:33):
the rosters of everywhere, we heard KD may go, this
team did the least gutting of a roster that a
team may have had to do to make it up
still to still make it upgrade and still keep keep
the roster in a good spot. So that's what I
think happens for the Rockets. That's that's the way I
think it looks for them.

Speaker 3 (17:54):
For KD.

Speaker 1 (17:55):
Talk about Phoenix on the other hand, I think it's
a little different situation. But for the Rockets, I think
it's good. Also shout out to freddie v got a
new to deal to.

Speaker 3 (18:07):
Stay with the Rockets. Well, uh, the way I saw
him lead that team in the playoffs.

Speaker 1 (18:15):
Like, and they're gonna need his leadership. They're gonna need
his leadership with that team. I think with with with
Fred's demeanor and how Fred go about things, and with
KD and how KD go about things, I think it'll
be a good match. Exactly some of the stuff that
Kate don't want to do, and people try to make

(18:37):
it like an indictment on ka his character. Know, there's
just some stuff that we're all human beings and there's
something we all have strengths. We all have weaknesses and
certain things that Kad don't like to do. Fred will
do that. And guess what, on a basketball team and
team sports, that's actually how it's supposed to work. And so,
you know, I think this puts them in a really

(18:58):
good position. I think they're obviously gonna to be a
team to be racking with. You expect him going to
make a big jump after the playoffs he had, you know,
expect Tyres and all those guys that make jump. So
it'll be interesting. I think, you know, I think that
team is in a really good position, and I definitely
think it's an upgrade.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
Shout out to our boy Frandvelan Fleick. Yeah, I mean,
I just I totally agree. But let's talk about the Sons.

(20:34):
The Sons get Jalen Green Dylan Brooks the tenth pick
of this year's draft, correct, Yeah, And so you think
about where are the Sons going, what.

Speaker 2 (20:47):
Are they looking for?

Speaker 4 (20:48):
You know, obviously they have three dynamic guards Jalen Green,
Bradley beal Uh, Devin Booker, And now that team will
adopt Dylan Brooks personality, right, which.

Speaker 3 (21:06):
I think can help that team, by the way.

Speaker 2 (21:08):
Ye, so talk to me, they.

Speaker 3 (21:10):
Can help that team.

Speaker 1 (21:12):
When I look at this Phoenix team, I don't think
they're done, you know. I think you can still expect
to see them be aggressive in whatever ways that they
can if I had to guess, you know, just just
having to look at the roster, you know.

Speaker 3 (21:28):
But I think getting the tenth pick back is a
good start.

Speaker 1 (21:32):
I think this drift, you can get some good value
at the tenth pick, some really good value at the
tenth pick.

Speaker 3 (21:38):
So I think I think that's the start.

Speaker 1 (21:41):
Uh, you get Dylan Brooks, whether they keep Jalen Green
or whether he's an asset that you can move somewhere else.

Speaker 3 (21:48):
I think, you know, this is a start.

Speaker 1 (21:51):
To what seems like, you know, I know, I know
Matt Ishpi, Matt Ishube is sparked dog. I can't ever
foresee Matt just throwing the top. But what seems like
a little bit of it, I won't say rebuild, but
definitely a reset. I think this is this is the
start of that. But I think I still expect to

(22:13):
see them, probably with some more movements somewhere, because right
now on the roster.

Speaker 3 (22:21):
It's a lot of shooting guards.

Speaker 4 (22:22):
So you know, I was gonna say, it's a lot
of guards on the roster.

Speaker 2 (22:27):
There's a lot of guards in this draft.

Speaker 4 (22:30):
Looking at the tenth pick and thinking about a lot
of teams needs just watching, ok C, there can be
some more movement I think from Phoenix, Uh coming along,
but you know at Jalen Green, Devin Booker, dynamic is

(22:52):
excited to see. You know, I think if they can
figure out what they want to do with Bradley Beal
that it's going to be, you know, like we all
expected before, that's going to be the key to whatever Phoenix.
However they move forward or you know, stay the same,
but you know, they have some opportunities. I think the

(23:12):
draft could be something special for them if they can
get one of them versatile score forwards, a young forwards
to you know, not necessarily replace KD, but be someone
that the fans are excited about seeing, somebody young and exciting.
The fans are saying, I want to see. But moving

(23:33):
on reaction to Drew holiday Man getting traded to the
Blazers for Anthony Simon's and second round picks, what's your thoughts.

Speaker 1 (23:43):
On Yeah, I think it's just funny to see Drew
traded back to the Blazers after the Celtius got him
from the Blazers in order to help them win the championship.
But in saying that, they say Drew don't want to
be there. I think that was the case the first
time he was traded there as well. But you know,

(24:04):
contract situation is different. I think he three years left
on the deal, so it's kind of not up to
you at this point. But we'll see what happens. But
you know, you signed the contract. He is what it is.
So you know, the Blazers going to do us best
for them, and they've made that very clear. You know,

(24:26):
the best player in Blazer history wanted to be traded
to certain places and he wasn't traded to those places
that he wanted to be traded to. So they've shown
that as a franchise, they're going to do us best
for the Blazers.

Speaker 3 (24:39):
You know.

Speaker 2 (24:40):
So, and it's a good pick.

Speaker 3 (24:42):
Tune to see how I play out.

Speaker 1 (24:43):
But I think Drew can also whether if he stayed there,
I think, you know, he can be a great asset
for Chance, you know, bridging that gap between Chance and
you know, these young guys and kind of being that
coach on the floor that veteran leader who's still got game.
So you know, I think still got a way to
see how to play out. But you know, this is

(25:05):
a team that is young and definitely rebuilt. So be
that as draft night. I think that's that that may
still shake.

Speaker 4 (25:14):
Some Yeah, okay, yeah, I can see that's still shaking up.
But uh, you know the Anthony Simons with Boston, Uh,
for Drew, I can understand why Boston is doing this.
We can understand how he can fit in because Boston

(25:34):
doesn't really they need scoring. They need more scoring guards
now because of you know one I would say, Jason
Tatum going going down, you know, looking for for scoring
is their dynamic. Shooting threes is their dynamic. You got
another dude thinking really get out of stress the floor,

(25:55):
catch fire. I think it works in a system, But
for Drew, I think it's great for Portland and it's
great for Drew. You get to mentor you get to hoop.
You're gonna be in at the end of the games.
You don't have to worry about you know, you're gonna
be the closer, right and part of that closing team
for the Blazers, and you get to break scoop along

(26:16):
and I like what Portland had last year. If as
we get closer to see what they do, I'm gonna
probably call Portland as my sleeper team last year or
this year. You know, my sleeper team was Houston at
the beginning of the year. You see what they did.
So you know Portland, I've been looking at, analyzing if

(26:38):
they make a couple more moves and put a few
pieces together. I look at Portland as a team that
can make that jump because they young dudes, are talented
and play hard.

Speaker 1 (26:49):
All right, well, we're going to see as the team
shape our free agency and even.

Speaker 2 (26:53):
Started a right, That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 1 (26:55):
Man, agency has not started, and this man given a
sleeper team.

Speaker 3 (27:00):
That's ridiculous. What doing you know?

Speaker 4 (27:04):
I'll be doing my scout man, I got a scale,
I got a scout, play GM.

Speaker 2 (27:08):
I played GM at home.

Speaker 1 (27:10):
Free free agency ain't started. The draft is just starting.
That this man is talking about who he got as
a sleeper. And listen, they also the Celtans also traded
at christophs Zinias to the Hawks. The Celtics. Listen, this
is all about the second Aprin. People said they didn't

(27:31):
want super teams anymore.

Speaker 3 (27:32):
With her, you have it.

Speaker 1 (27:34):
All these moves are being made to dodge that second april.
For those out there that don't know what the second
apron is, and Layman's turn for you.

Speaker 3 (27:41):
It's a hard cap.

Speaker 1 (27:43):
It is a hard cap that no owner is dealing
with because the penalties are crazy.

Speaker 3 (27:49):
You lose draft picks, you.

Speaker 1 (27:50):
Lose the mid level exception, you lose roster spots, you
lose the ability to get better and compete as a team,
and the amount of money that you lose is insanity.
And so the Boston Celtics would have had a salary
caps with luxury tax bill of five hundred and forty
million dollars. It is now at two eighty because they
got rid of those contracts. So for those that don't

(28:12):
understand what the second apron is, as as basic as
I can flitt it for you.

Speaker 3 (28:18):
It is a hard cap.

Speaker 1 (28:19):
And when I said this before the deal was the
sign that this is ridiculous and it's going to hurt players.
In the end, no one wanted to listen and everybody
wanted to act like the PA was making a great deal.
The PA made a shit deal, as the PA has
done for years now, and every year the pop gets

(28:39):
bigger and the business gets better and the players get
screwed more. That's that's just how this business works and
so insane that back to the Boston Celtics, that's what
all of these.

Speaker 3 (28:51):
Moves are about people.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
That's why they got rid of Perzingis, That's why they
got rid of Drew Holliday.

Speaker 3 (28:56):
That's why you're hearing so many people call on Jaylen Brown.

Speaker 1 (29:00):
You're hearing so many people call on Derek white Is
because they know they want to get away from that
second Apron tax and Jason Tatum being out, things are
up in the air. You trade for Anthony Simons, I think,
listen there, they they're the boss and tell us they
got to be competitive. But at the end of the day,
it's an expiring deal cap situation, all of those and

(29:23):
you got Jason Tatum hurt, right, So if I had
to guess Jaylen Brown, if he have any Nixon nax
this year, probably won't be in the lineup because you're
gonna recalibrate, You're gonna let your books settle, and then
next year with Jason Tatum coming back, then you try
to retool and start going for it again. And that's

(29:44):
just how these things work. You'll see this all over
the NBA for years to come, because that's just the
way that this CBA works, and so you'll see this happen.

Speaker 3 (29:55):
Over and over again. That's my spiel. That's the second.

Speaker 4 (30:02):
We asked for no more super teams. So we're definitely
gonna get no more super teams. But we're also gonna
get teams that rise in the draft, do great things
in free agency, and they're gonna it's gonna be more
broken up teams than the teams that you grow up
on being like, yo, this team has been together for

(30:23):
five years. That's gonna be hard to do, especially, you know,
having young players becoming great and getting better with that cap.
The New Orleans Pelicans are trader CJ. McCollum, Kelly Olynnock
and a future second round pick to the Washington Wizards

(30:44):
for Jordan Poole, Sadig Bay and the number forty overall
pick in the second round of the NBA Draft. What
does this trade mean for both teams? Draymond, what does
it mean for the Pelicans?

Speaker 3 (31:00):
What this means for the Pelicans is that Joe D's
coming in.

Speaker 1 (31:04):
He's making some changes. He wanted to see you know,
just acquire some young talent in Jordan Poole to see
if he can still make it work with next to
the Zion's you know, Trey Herb Jones. You know, see
if you can put it together with these young guys.
I think, so when I look at this Pelicans, this move,

(31:27):
you got de Johonte be coming off from Achilles injury.
When I look at this Pelican move, I like, I think,
when you add a talent like Jordan Poole, you know,
CJ is kind of who CJ is, you know, Jordans
Jordan still has room for growth. I don't think we've
seen the best of his growth yet. And I think

(31:48):
getting in a in an organization like New Orleans under
Joe Dumar's leadership, you know, with with Willie Green at
the coach, I think would be a really good situation
for him. I think Washington the first year he spent in,
justin last year, he had a really good year numbers wise,
But when you're on that team, it don't matter. And
so I think, you know, when I look at when

(32:10):
I look at this for the Pelicans, I look at
this as a net post. You know, you didn't you
didn't have to go crazy. From a salary cap standpoint,
I think Jordan may make a little less than CJ.
Or right around the same amount, you know. But yeah,
I think you still got time for him to prove himself.
A couple more years left on his deal, uh, two

(32:33):
or three more years left on his deal. I think
he still got time to prove himself. And with some
young guys who are also looking to take that next step,
and so I think they become a team that you
got to watch out for in the West. You know,
they got a lot of talent. They're gonna they can
put it together. They're gonna creep up and can possibly
have a good year. So that's what I think this.

Speaker 2 (32:53):
Moved mean for the Pelicans, the Wizards.

Speaker 3 (32:56):
What you got for the Wizards. You when I look
at that trade for the Wizards.

Speaker 4 (33:02):
You know, I actually like it for the Wizards. Why
Because I think CJ. McCollum is what the Wizards need.
You need some veteran leadership, You need someone who can
play basketball. You need someone that can talk to your
young guys and get them in positions to play NBA basketball.

(33:25):
You got a linux there who's like, you know, a
bridge player, somebody who can come in learn the system,
be a VET.

Speaker 2 (33:34):
So you're really trading you.

Speaker 4 (33:36):
Know, young energy from Pool who is a dynamic scorer,
but you bet on Pool to be you know, your
next all star, superstar player and leader. I think you're
gonna get the leadership in McCullum. You're gonna get more
consistency out of what do you have now. I don't

(33:58):
know how how many years McCullum got on this contract,
but I just like that.

Speaker 2 (34:04):
I like this trade in favor of CJ.

Speaker 4 (34:07):
And then I also think for Washington, it's a good
move to start cebmit your organization with some veterans around,
especially the young guys you have, because they're gonna take
some time to develop, or if they developed properly, they
can skyrocket over half a season with their.

Speaker 3 (34:25):
Time, no doubt, no doubt.

Speaker 1 (34:27):
I think what we're starting to see Morris teams went
so far left with the youth movement that they're realizing that, no,
you can go young, but you gotta have.

Speaker 3 (34:36):
Some veteran leadership in there.

Speaker 1 (34:37):
Ors the blind leading the blind and that don't And
so I think that's what we're starting to see.

Speaker 3 (34:42):
You know, when you look at this OKAC team.

Speaker 1 (34:44):
They started with all those young guys, but throughout those
years they brought in Chris Pauls, you know, and different
guys that has helped continue to show from a veteran
leadership standpoint, the way.

Speaker 3 (34:58):
To shade and for share to take the rais.

Speaker 1 (35:00):
So I think teams are starting to realize that, I know,
Will Dawkins comes out of the OKC tree, and you know,
just to watch him put those veteran leaders around those
young guys, I think it makes sense. I expect CJ
to go in there asking for an extension, uh, to
extend that money, and but I think overall, I think
it's a good move for both groups.

Speaker 4 (35:21):
Yeah, it's definitely, definitely a good move. The league is
starting to get a little bit more balanced, and I'm excited.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
I think the finals.

Speaker 4 (35:34):
Created a whole new image and infrastructure of what success
looks like. But also the playoffs too, so.

Speaker 1 (35:45):
Uh, speaking of the playoffs, we got to congratulate okay
see winning their first NBA championship. I'm obviously familiar with
how how dynasties look. Obviously still plan, so I'm not hope.
I'm hoping they ain't starting on right now. But do
you think this could be the start of a dynasty
an OKAC and where their team is. I think dynasties

(36:09):
are a lot harder, but I'll get into that. Do
you think this is the start of one?

Speaker 2 (36:13):
I mean, we'll see. I have to go with the numbers.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
There's going to be a different NBA Champion crown next year.
But does OKC have the best chance. Absolutely if they
keep this team intact and figure out Okay, if they
can make a couple of minor tweaks to upgrade what
they got, then I would pick them as number one.

(36:41):
I don't think Indiana is a fluke either. I think
Indiana now has some championship pedigree or finals pedigree they'll
be back to. But the dynasty part is hard in
this era as hard as this era because at some point,
like you said, they're gonna be facing a hard cap

(37:03):
and they're gonna have to be highly strategic about how
they shepherd in the old and the new.

Speaker 3 (37:11):
I agree with you.

Speaker 1 (37:12):
I think, like you said, dynasty's I think it's just
gonna be tough, you know, right, Like they're like Caruso
was big for this championship, Hardenstein was big, lou Door
was big, when you start paying JDub the max and
Check max or near.

Speaker 3 (37:26):
Max, And so I'm saying, guys, you start to lose.

Speaker 1 (37:29):
And now you playing older guys playing with young guys
that don't look the same, you know.

Speaker 3 (37:33):
So I think they're.

Speaker 1 (37:35):
Set up for success, uh, for sure, but uh is
it the start of a dynasty? Those things are hard
to come by. You start talking about health. Everybody gotta
stay healthy.

Speaker 3 (37:47):
Uh, you know that that drive and will I don't
doubt that that'll go anywhere.

Speaker 1 (37:51):
They got some young, hungry guys, but I think that
can that can definitely play a part in it.

Speaker 3 (37:57):
And this this CBA ain't really set up for that.

Speaker 4 (38:00):
Now that the thunder have won the title, you explain
the window of opportunity for them to continue winning championships.
You know, we talked a little bit about dynasty. What
does that window for them look like?

Speaker 1 (38:12):
I think their best chance to win an US Championship
is next year because you'll still have Check and Jay
Dubb making rookie money, which means you still allowed to
keep your pieces. And so their best chance to win
again is the following year. Once that money kick in,
everything looks different. And so when you start talking the
window opportunity. Look at the Houston Rockets, they won two,

(38:36):
they haven't won one. Sens you know, you start talking
Detroit Pistons won two win thirteen thirteen years, thirteen fourteen years,
one another one twenty one years.

Speaker 3 (38:50):
They haven't one.

Speaker 1 (38:51):
Sense Like, when you get the chance to kick that
window in, you gotta kick it in.

Speaker 3 (38:55):
You gotta go take the window in now.

Speaker 1 (38:57):
But your best chance is now, because start building a beat,
you injuries happen, contracts happen. Their best opportunity to win
again is next year. And I think they should understand
that is you know, that's just the way these things work.

Speaker 2 (39:14):
Yeah, yeah, that's what I think we said. We talked
about that.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
You know, do you if they didn't win it this year,
they got the next two to three years to win one. Well,
they won it this year, so now they got two
years for sure, possible three if we were setting books right.

Speaker 3 (39:43):
That's exactly that's how it boils down. Like you're gonna
have to start getting rid of people.

Speaker 1 (39:51):
And when you start getting rid of people, like you
can pluck one person from a.

Speaker 3 (39:55):
Team and it can change the whole landscape.

Speaker 1 (39:57):
And so we'll see. But that's That's how I breakdown
for them, ah Man. Before we move on, I got
to speak about SGA and the season that he had,
one of four players who win the scoring title, MVP
and finals MVP. Beautiful to see him continue to take
that jump after jump after jump, and you know, finally

(40:20):
finishing on out, not finishing on now because he still
got many years ago, but finish the season out. Do
you think coming into next year you start talking about like,
does this just make you the face of the NBA
or doesn't I personally don't.

Speaker 3 (40:44):
I don't know.

Speaker 1 (40:44):
I think fac of the NBA just happening. And I
know people keep talking about that. But when you look
at the season he had, what else.

Speaker 3 (40:53):
Can one do?

Speaker 2 (40:54):
You're the number one stunt up? What?

Speaker 3 (40:57):
Well?

Speaker 2 (40:57):
What what the number one stunner?

Speaker 4 (41:01):
Like if if you think about it coming out, you know,
coming off the championship, you're gonna be that summer league.
You show up the summer league, you number one Younumero,
you know, baby, you know started the season media day Numero.
You know, season starting Numero.

Speaker 2 (41:18):
So you can.

Speaker 4 (41:19):
Carry that that pedagree and and and he has a
great brand, right, he has a great brand.

Speaker 2 (41:27):
He speaks highly of his teammates.

Speaker 4 (41:29):
He's he he's very articulate about the game and patient
with reporters. So when you start thinking about are they
gonna have more national games? Where they better because he
the coldest. He the number one stunner right now. So
as far as face of the league, yeah, he got

(41:51):
it for now. In order to be the face of
the league and to carry that, they gotta come and
get him back to back, right, they gotta start, you know,
looking in the face of dynasties and being compared to
the greats. I think you know the run that he's
had with MVP, scuarant title Finals, MVP. You know that's

(42:16):
a league company, and he got the title. Now coming back, yes,
he should get all the fanfare of the limelight. Now
what are they gonna do with it if they go
if he go back and win it again, Oh yeah,
he the face of the league because you the number
one stunter two years in a row, right, But for

(42:37):
right now, yeah, I would say you gotta say he's
a face because they gonna get way more national games.
And he can talk to he can he can talk
that talk to anybody.

Speaker 1 (42:51):
Most definitely, But shout out to shay Man congratulations, job
well done.

Speaker 3 (42:57):
It's great to see a guy put the work in
and continue to play.

Speaker 1 (43:02):
Job well done. Congratch the OKC. Welcome to the table.

Speaker 2 (43:08):
Man one in the room with you.

Speaker 3 (43:11):
You gotta come on in the room, love it well.

Speaker 4 (43:17):
Also want to set out some love to uh to tyrase,
you had two teammates tedn and Achilles. How hard can
the team bounce back one of your best players get hurt?

Speaker 1 (43:33):
I think, uh, it's tough, man. You know we we
obviously had Clay go down. KD went down, but he
left the same year stuff went down. Like it's tough.

Speaker 3 (43:44):
You're not winning without your best player in this.

Speaker 1 (43:46):
League, Like you can put together a decent season, but
it ain't happening. But man, I do say my love
and well, which is the tyresse though just on the
speedy recovery, leaving it all out there on the floor.
You know, these these capter Achilles injuries are tricky.

Speaker 3 (44:04):
Man I put on my.

Speaker 1 (44:05):
Threads to come as soon as it happened, Like, man,
I look too familiar.

Speaker 3 (44:10):
NBA Finals elimination game.

Speaker 1 (44:14):
God get the cooking, cooking, cooking, KD got the cooking.

Speaker 3 (44:19):
Like it was just looking cooking.

Speaker 1 (44:23):
My gosh, and so, man, I just wish you well
in a speedy recovery.

Speaker 3 (44:29):
Uh. That sucks, man, But I'll tell you what it does.

Speaker 1 (44:34):
When you look at the Indiana Pacers about to go
into the tax for the first time, it'll be interesting
to see if they change they tune because you're got
highly out for a whole year now. Yeah, more than likely.

Speaker 3 (44:50):
So man, you just wanted everything changing.

Speaker 4 (44:55):
Man, totally, totally. Man, I went down. I was not
damn there one to cry for my bro because you know,
to not get a chance to finish is heartbreaking and
he deserved it.

Speaker 2 (45:08):
He fought to a game seven. He fought with injury.

Speaker 4 (45:11):
We talked about it on the show that playing with
that calf muscle was gonna be risky. Remember we talked
about if he can show up and give us a
Willis reed. He did that game six twenty three. That
was a little bit more. But coming into game seven,
it's like you forget that that the way you feel

(45:33):
going into a game seven, you.

Speaker 2 (45:34):
Feel so much better.

Speaker 4 (45:36):
Yeah, but you're not so much better you It's more
damage if anything.

Speaker 1 (45:43):
Yeah, you know what I'm saying. When I say still
the same, I mean you're still dealing with the same You're.

Speaker 2 (45:48):
Still dealing with the same thing.

Speaker 4 (45:50):
And a lot of times like you so hyped and
you feel good, like how many times I can remember
so many times like man, I feel good and then
jump and land and be like, now, how did this happen?

Speaker 2 (46:05):
Right now?

Speaker 4 (46:07):
You forget you forget you forget that. Oh you're still
injured or you're still nursing an injury. So it was
tough to watch that because that young man deserved to
be be able to finish that game, uh and walk
off that court on his own. But he will be back.
I know that's right. He'll be better, most definitely, will

(46:29):
most definitely. So shout out to Tyree's Man and the
Indiana patients.

Speaker 1 (46:34):
They had a great year get to the NBA finals
such when you get there and lose, but.

Speaker 3 (46:39):
They had an incredible year. So congratulations those guys as well.

Speaker 4 (46:43):
Moving on, what's up dub nation? Uh, we gonna get
into this dub nation.

Speaker 3 (46:48):
Man. We got some questions.

Speaker 4 (46:52):
What needs to happen this offseason for the Warriors to
be real contenders again?

Speaker 3 (46:58):
I think.

Speaker 1 (47:00):
You know the heavy lifting has been done, like you added, Jimmy.
I think that was the biggest thing that needed to happen.
Now we got that. Now you can tool around that.
You know, our team was tooled around staph. Now you
know how Jimmy looks in the system, you know how
Jimmy likes to play.

Speaker 3 (47:16):
You can also tool around that as well.

Speaker 1 (47:18):
So I think, you know, just locking in from that front,
understanding what we got, where we can get better, and
making those pushes. You know, but free agency is tough, man,
you know, you trying to court people and make the
best offerend and you don't always know what it is
right Like for some guys it could be the highest
dollar amount. Of the other guys that could be totally different.

(47:40):
So I think just going into it, it's just all
about looking to see, like, all right, now we know
how it looks. Now we got that part figured out,
Now what does it look like around that? So I
think we're in a much better position handing to this
one than we were last year.

Speaker 4 (47:56):
Yeah, yeah, got you I got some money to play
around with. Ya got some you know, some young talent
that you know, it's not taking up a lot of
the salary cap. You gotta just comminger, you know, things
free agents in this class.

Speaker 2 (48:11):
So yeah, y'all got some work to do.

Speaker 4 (48:13):
But like you said, showing up the you know, the nks,
that's what I'm gonna start calling.

Speaker 2 (48:20):
We're gonna show up the.

Speaker 1 (48:25):
Also, y'all gotta stop with this stuff in my hood,
my hood, uncle, uncle, uncles, a crackheaded my y'all be
calling me.

Speaker 3 (48:41):
I don't that will never be okay with.

Speaker 4 (48:49):
Me, Like uh, the the Bay Area.

Speaker 3 (48:59):
That's hey, boy, you let you you let your hair
go back in.

Speaker 2 (49:05):
About this about to cut it? He's heard.

Speaker 3 (49:21):
I'm just asking the questions. That's it. I want wondering.

Speaker 2 (49:28):
Jaymond was I for.

Speaker 4 (49:30):
Hey man, look, I'm just trying to see what happens
my hair gro grow back.

Speaker 3 (49:35):
You know.

Speaker 4 (49:35):
I like them little curls. I like to have my
hair nappy, like the little naps.

Speaker 2 (49:40):
I like that.

Speaker 3 (49:41):
You gotta go to Turkey, the Turkey. Yeah, you gotta
go to Turkey.

Speaker 2 (49:47):
For what what's in Turkey?

Speaker 3 (49:50):
Hey, they're waiting for you. You got.

Speaker 2 (49:58):
Move alone? All right?

Speaker 4 (50:02):
If you could say one thing to Warriors fans right now, unfiltered,
what would it be?

Speaker 3 (50:11):
I don't really got nothing to say domination.

Speaker 2 (50:16):
Just about the season, like, well, you ain't.

Speaker 3 (50:18):
Got no gripes? Oh, it's just about the season.

Speaker 4 (50:21):
You're like, oh, you know we're gonna come back better.

Speaker 3 (50:24):
Oh well, I ain't wiping no dogs fans up. They
know what it is, you know, they.

Speaker 4 (50:30):
Because you did say I was gonna win it all
I know I ain't.

Speaker 3 (50:37):
I ain't know what it could have should have. But
you know, you know what I'm saying, it's all good.
We're gonna leave it where it's at. It's all good.

Speaker 1 (50:44):
I'm gonna congratulate the Oklahoma City Thunner because I'm not
one of them hating. You know, these guys out here behaving.
I'm gonna leave it where it's at. And I'm congratulate
them gods because they are.

Speaker 3 (50:54):
Champions, all right. So where it's at?

Speaker 2 (50:57):
With that said, what has been your best moment or moments?

Speaker 4 (51:03):
Uh in the twenty twenty four twenty twenty five season.

Speaker 3 (51:07):
Best moment of the twenty twenty four twenty five season, Man.

Speaker 2 (51:13):
When you wrap a bunk? Well, when you got that bunk?

Speaker 3 (51:20):
What dunk?

Speaker 4 (51:22):
When you went down the lane? I forget what team
it was. I think he hit a three. Then he
went down a lane and got a duck.

Speaker 2 (51:30):
He was gone, cry ship, you barely got he got that.

Speaker 3 (51:39):
That's light work, man.

Speaker 1 (51:40):
You know when you're moving off no play, you know
what I'm saying, no regular season plays.

Speaker 2 (51:48):
You know, you want to have whattching.

Speaker 3 (51:50):
The games gotta.

Speaker 1 (51:50):
Happen, players gott to happen in the playoffs for it
really matter what I'm saying, Right.

Speaker 3 (51:55):
When did you when did you dunk on Carolinka.

Speaker 2 (51:58):
In the playoffs? Everything?

Speaker 3 (51:59):
That's the.

Speaker 1 (52:03):
Yeah, you know, so we ain't tripping on that saying
that's light work.

Speaker 4 (52:08):
What what about what about the night night moment when
when you hit night that was fun?

Speaker 3 (52:22):
That was that was fun?

Speaker 1 (52:26):
And then you know, I enjoyed the season though, you know, like, hey,
I came out of this season feeling better than I
did three years ago, you know, And so I think
most important, you know that just health continuing to grow.

Speaker 3 (52:45):
I think overall net positive.

Speaker 1 (52:48):
Now just keep it rolling and win this championship next year,
but overall net positive, man. So I'm looking forward to
this next one, obviously getting the team right, getting the
ross right, knowing what we look can right like rolling
into next year.

Speaker 3 (53:01):
But you know, you know how I'm rolling then, fus baby, you.

Speaker 4 (53:07):
Know that's the pedigree, y'all? Back, yeah, back, so yeah,
back to pedigree.

Speaker 1 (53:13):
Absolutely, So that's how we roll. But the NBA Draft
is currently going on. You know, NBA Draft in one
of my finest nice you know, he was the third pick.
So maybe you want to like get all hype for
the draft. I think that ship don't matter good. It's

(53:34):
all about where you go.

Speaker 2 (53:35):
Man.

Speaker 4 (53:35):
I always say the draft is whatever team you go
to with system. It don't matter where you what pick
you go. You just want to go to the right situation.
And we've seen that countless amount of times with you know,
players in the second round you look at I think,
you know the story that's most relevant in my time

(53:56):
was with Sean Lewis, you know, being a first round
pick and getting drafted in the second round, being upset,
but wind up going to Seattle and wind up becoming
the man, yeah, faster than he would if he would
have you know, went to a Portland at the time

(54:18):
or Indiana at the time. I had to sit behind
some vets. So you know, the draft of the draft
for me, it was incredible. You know, being the third pick,
I didn't really know nothing about Charlotte. Uh, I didn't
really know who was on the team until I got drafted. Yeah,

(54:40):
I went to a good team. I went to a
vet team, a playoff team, a team that was, you know,
trying to make it in the playoffs in a tough,
tough Eastern conference. And I got a chance my rookie
year to sit on the bench, which I did not
like as a number three pick, because the coach tell
me I should be starting by man season.

Speaker 2 (55:02):
But it was cool if I would.

Speaker 4 (55:04):
Have got drafted earlier later who knows what kind of system.
But I went to a system where I was able
to grow and then ultimately become an All Star.

Speaker 2 (55:15):
And yet three, no.

Speaker 1 (55:17):
Doubt, No, I think, you know, I think where you go,
like you said, it is far more important.

Speaker 2 (55:25):
Where was you at on Jeff?

Speaker 3 (55:26):
It works out?

Speaker 1 (55:27):
And then I was in sagging off the doll events
and her baby with a terrible suit on.

Speaker 2 (55:34):
And how was it? How did it go for you?
Because you were supposed to be a lottery pick, right, Yeah.

Speaker 1 (55:40):
I wasn't necessarily going to be lottery, but I definitely
was like projected to the top twenty, top twenty, top
twenty five.

Speaker 3 (55:46):
Yeah, and you know, to.

Speaker 1 (55:49):
Go thirty fifth pick, it's like, dang, you see the
end of that first round come, You're like, man, no,
so it's a great night, you know.

Speaker 4 (55:58):
But it was very bittersweet me was people overreacting at
the party or at your event?

Speaker 2 (56:06):
Were more people overreacting than you or were?

Speaker 4 (56:09):
I know you were disappointed, but like what was the
what was the hype and then like the whole I don't.

Speaker 1 (56:17):
Think anybody overreacted. I think people are all shocked. You know,
you could kind of feel like the Anks way way there,
like man like when it's gonna happen. But I don't
think anybody overreacted. Nobody made too much of it. I
probably I probably felt the most about it, you know
what I'm saying, just because I know the work that
I have put in and I knew what I had
to offer, and so going in the second round was

(56:39):
baffling to me.

Speaker 3 (56:40):
But in saying that, to get your name called and.

Speaker 1 (56:44):
Special special in NBA draft is special. So I'm forever
grateful for that moment. I hope these guys enjoyed, enjoy
that night and then understand that tomorrow, man, yeah, one
guy may get an opportunity fast, but tomorrow everybody is
an equal plan. You gotta go prove that you you
belong in the NBA and what you can bring to
a team. No surprise, Cooper Flag went number one and

(57:08):
the twenty twenty five NBA Draft to.

Speaker 2 (57:11):
The Dallas Mavericks.

Speaker 4 (57:13):
How does Cooper Flag fit in with the Dallas Mavericks
And shout out to Kyrie signing a three year, one
hundred and nineteen million dollars a contract. He probably won't
play next year unless it's later in the season. But
talk about Cooper Flag to Dallas and what that looks like.

Speaker 3 (57:34):
I think Cooper Flag to Dallas. I think Cooper Flag
is lucky man.

Speaker 1 (57:39):
You get a chance to go in with some great vets,
some guys that's gonna take some pressure off of you.
It won't just be the Cooper Flag show, you know,
So you won't have all this pressure on. You can
kind of get in where you fit in. Yeah, you
still gotta go be special, but you ain't gotta go
average twenty five points on the bad team twenty points
on the bad team.

Speaker 3 (57:57):
Like, you get to go compete and learn from some
of the best you know. And so I think that's
great how he fits. I think it gets interesting.

Speaker 1 (58:05):
We all know ad don't love playing the five Cooper Flag.
I think it's a foreman. I don't think he's a three.
You got Daniel Gafford, you got Derek Lively, you know,
So how does that all play out? One thing is
for certains, They're gonna make sure Cooper Flag fits into that.

Speaker 3 (58:20):
But how does that all play out in the end.

Speaker 1 (58:23):
I think will be interesting to watch, you know, just
because at the end of the day, if Cooper Flag
has to be a four and someone shifts, someone else shifts,
and so I'm looking forward to seeing how that plays out.
But uh, you know, I think he goes to a
great situation and also goes to a great organization. A

(58:44):
lot of times you the number one pick, you go
to a shitty organization.

Speaker 3 (58:48):
It's going to a great organization.

Speaker 1 (58:49):
So I think I think I don't think he could
have asked for anything better being a number one pick.
Dylan Harper was also was drafted by the San Antonio
Spurs with the second pick. Uh uh uh, how do
you see him fitting in there? Going to San Antonio?

Speaker 3 (59:05):
What? What what does that look like for him? Now?

Speaker 2 (59:07):
They got two big, dynamic guards.

Speaker 4 (59:12):
That can beat you off the dribble, get to the paint,
can post, find ways to score.

Speaker 2 (59:20):
I think he is.

Speaker 4 (59:22):
A different dynamic than Castle. He has more I say,
kind of point guard features, right pick and roll like
he's really really good in the pick and roll. But
you got a left hand six four big guard. You
got a six four six' five big guard like, This

(59:44):
this big guard combination for The San Antonio spurs is
gonna be. Dynamic they're gonna He they're gonna put a
lot of pressure on the. Defense and when you think
about not only, that you Got Dearon fox right as
the league. Guard then you're talking about this three guard

(01:00:05):
dynamic with this young kid coming off the, bench playing
him With, castle playing him with The Aaron, fox you
got a three guard dynamic that's gonna be getting downhill
and putting a lot of pressure on the. Defense that's
a lot of, foules that's a lot of, Files so
you better be ready to.

Speaker 2 (01:00:23):
GUARD i.

Speaker 1 (01:00:25):
AGREE i think you know that that type of size and,
length what what what what centaturios BUILDING i think can be.

Speaker 3 (01:00:33):
Special you, KNOW i Think Dylan harper probably walks.

Speaker 1 (01:00:38):
In i'm not sure if he's a starter from day
one because you Got fox, there you Got. Castle do
they ultimately starting day one to bring him off the.
BENCH i think that'll be decided about how he Looks
Summer league and going into. Camp but you, KNOW i
think the future is bright for. THEM i think that's
a great, pick you. Know so we'll we'll see how
we'll see how it turns. Out but, Overall Man San,

(01:01:00):
antonio they got, guards and they Got, wimby and they Got.

Speaker 4 (01:01:05):
Wimby they got, guards they Got, wimby and they got
they got perimeter guys who hustle and can finish and
make some. Shots all. Right As, bailey he was supposed
to be a top three. Pick he wind up going.
Five that's not really, Falling but you, know a lot
of the narrative was he is the FIRST us based

(01:01:29):
player to not work out for any.

Speaker 2 (01:01:31):
Teams do you think that hurt?

Speaker 4 (01:01:33):
Hurt it's not a hurt dropping from out the top
three to, Five.

Speaker 2 (01:01:40):
But what is your take on.

Speaker 3 (01:01:41):
THAT i don't necessarily think it. Hurt it didn't. Hurt
you went. Five whooped the fucking. Dude it didn't hurt.

Speaker 1 (01:01:49):
That but you're walking into THE nba able to, strike
AND i think that's what's most important to. Understand it's
like you're walking in with a question mark on. Character
you're walking in with a question mark on work. Ethic
you're walking in with a question mark on your. Camp
you know What i'm. Saying and so my thing to
him and his camp will be understand where you. Are,

(01:02:09):
okay it's, fine no big. Deal you went fifth in the.
Draft AS i said earlier in the, show that shit don't.
Matter no more matters for his, salary and that's about.
It it's now time to go. Play so be the
first in the. Gym don't go into the organization causing any.
Problems going to the organization knowing that there's some guys
that have been there before.

Speaker 3 (01:02:26):
You you can learn from.

Speaker 1 (01:02:28):
Them BUT i ain't saying go bow down, anybody but
know that it's some guys that know more than you
that you can learn. From go in there and be
a great. Rookie that don't mean don't go play, Great
go be a great. Rookie don't go in there thinking
stuff gonna be your, way because you already got a
strike and this league will move on from you.

Speaker 3 (01:02:46):
Fast this league has moved on.

Speaker 4 (01:02:47):
From and more and just as, talented even more talented.

Speaker 1 (01:02:53):
Players so absolutely so congratulations to. Him i'm not gonna
sit up and let's get to the damper for his. Night,
man listen to what from the. Gutter let's got, It
let's get. It but just know what you up against
