Speaker 1 (00:01):
The volume.

Speaker 2 (00:10):
What needs to happen this off season for the Warriors
to be real contenders again.

Speaker 3 (00:16):
I think, you know, the heavy lifting has been done.
Like you added Jimmy. I think that was the biggest
thing that needed to happen. Now we got that. Now
you can tool around that. You know, our team was
tooled around staff. Now you know how Jimmy looks in
the system, you know how Jimmy likes to play.

Speaker 4 (00:34):
You can also tool around that as well. So I think,
you know.

Speaker 3 (00:37):
Just locking in from that front, understanding what we got
where we can get better and making those pushes.

Speaker 2 (00:45):
You know.

Speaker 3 (00:45):
But free agency is tough, man, you know, trying to
court people and make the best friend, and you don't
always know what it is right Like for some guys
it could be the highest dollar a mouth.

Speaker 4 (00:56):
Of the other guys that could be totally different.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
So I think just going into it, it's just all
about looking to see, like, all right, now we know
how it looks Now we got that part figured out.

Speaker 4 (01:08):
Now what does it look like around that?

Speaker 3 (01:09):
So I think we're in a much better position handing
to this one than we were last year.

Speaker 2 (01:14):
Yeah, y'all got y'all got some money to play around with.
Y'all got some you know, some young talent that you know,
it's not taking up a lot of the salary cap.
You gotta just cominga you know things, free agents in
this class.

Speaker 4 (01:29):
So yeah, y'all got some work to do.

Speaker 2 (01:32):
But like you said, showing up the you know, the unks,
that's what I'm gonna start culling.

Speaker 4 (01:38):
Yeah, we're gonna show up they.

Speaker 3 (01:43):
Also, y'all got to stop with this stuff in my hood,
my hood, uncle uncle, un crackhead.

Speaker 4 (01:51):
In MyoD, y'all be calling people. I don't block. I
don't do that will never be okay with me.

Speaker 5 (02:07):
Like, oh, the US, the Bay Area, that's you letting
you you let your hair go back in.

Speaker 6 (02:23):
About to about to cut it.

Speaker 4 (02:37):
He's heard. I'm just asking the question. That's it I want.

Speaker 1 (02:43):
I just wondering, m jaymnd was I Hey man, look,
I'm just trying to see what happened my hair bro
grow back.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
You know, I like them little curls. I like to
have my hair nappy, like the little naps.

Speaker 4 (02:58):
I like that. You gotta go to Turkey, the Turkey. Yeah,
you gotta go to Turkey for what what? What's in Turkey?
They waiting for you. You got move along? All right?

Speaker 2 (03:21):
If you can say one thing to Warriors fans right now, unfiltered, what.

Speaker 4 (03:27):
Would it be. I don't really got nothing to say.
What up domination? Just about this season? Like, well, I ain't.

Speaker 3 (03:37):
Got no gripes. Oh, it's just about the season. You're like, oh,
you know we're gonna come back better. Oh well, fans,
I ain't wiping no dolls.

Speaker 4 (03:46):
Fans up. They know what it is, you know.

Speaker 2 (03:48):
They he did say that I was gonna win it all.

Speaker 4 (03:54):
Yeah, I ain't know. I ain't. I ain't know what
it could have. But you know what I'm saying, it's
all good. We're gonna leave it where it's at. It's
all good.

Speaker 3 (04:03):
I'm gonna congratulate the Oklahoma City thought it because I'm
not one of them, Maden. You know these guys out
here behaving, I believe it that wears at number. Congratulate them,
goscul They are champions, all right. So where it's at?

Speaker 2 (04:15):
With that said, what has been your best moment or
moments in the twenty twenty four twenty twenty five season.

Speaker 4 (04:25):
Our best moment of the twenty twenty four twenty five season. Man,
when you wrap a bunk. When you got that bunk?
What don.

Speaker 2 (04:41):
When you went down the lane. I forget what team
it was. I think he hit a three. Then he
went down alone and got a duck. He was gone, cry, shit,
you barely got he got that.

Speaker 4 (04:57):
That's light work, man.

Speaker 3 (04:58):
You know, we ain't moving off no play you know
what I'm saying, no regular season plays. You know, he's
gotta have once in the game's gotta happen. Players got
to happen in the playoffs really matter. When did you
When did you dunk on Carolinka.

Speaker 4 (05:16):
In the playoffs? Everything? Everything?

Speaker 3 (05:20):
Everything? Yeah, you know, so we ain't tripping on that.
You know what I'm saying that that's light work.

Speaker 4 (05:27):
What What about?

Speaker 2 (05:28):
What about the night night moment when you when you
hit Thanks to Night that I was fun?

Speaker 4 (05:39):
That was that was that was That was fun.

Speaker 3 (05:45):
And then you know, I enjoyed the season though, you know, like, hey,
I came out of this season feeling better than I
did three years ago. You know, so I think most importantly,
you know that just health continuing to grow. I think
overall net positive. Now just keep it rolling and win

(06:08):
the championship next year. But overall net positive, man, So
I'm looking forward to this next one, obviously getting the
team right, getting the ross right, knowing when we're looking right,
like rolling into next year.

Speaker 4 (06:20):
But you know, you know how I'm rolling the US, baby.

Speaker 2 (06:26):
You know that's the pedigree, y'all back? Yeah, back, So
you're back to pedigree absolutely, So that's how we roll well. Also,
I want to send out some love to uh to tyrase,
you have two teammates ted Achilles. How hard can the

(06:46):
team bounce back one of your best players get hurt?

Speaker 3 (06:50):
I think, uh, it's tough, man. You know we we
obviously had Clay go down. KD went down, but he
left the same year Steph went down. Like it's tough.
You're not winning without your best player in this league,
Like you can put together a decent season, but it
ain't happening. But man, I do send my love and

(07:11):
well wish is the tyresse though just on the speedy recovery.

Speaker 4 (07:16):
Leaving it all out there on the floor.

Speaker 3 (07:18):
You know, these days, these cap to Achilles injuries are tricky.
Man I put on my threads to come as soon
as it happened, Like, man, I look too familiar. NBA
Finals elimination game. God get the cooking cooking. KD got
the cooking like it was just looking cooking, my gosh.

Speaker 4 (07:42):
And so Man, I just wish you well in a
speedy recovery.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Uh.

Speaker 4 (07:48):
That sucks, man, But I'll tell you what it does.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
When you look at the Indiana Pacers about to go
into the tax for the first time, it'll be interesting
to see if they changed they tune because you got
highly out for a whome a year now. Yeah, more
than likely.

Speaker 4 (08:07):
So man, he just wanted everything changing, man, totally, totally.

Speaker 2 (08:14):
Man, I went down. I was I damn there. Wanted
to cry for more bro because you know, to not
get a chance to finish his heartbreaking and he deserved it.

Speaker 4 (08:26):
He fought to a game seven. He fought with injury.

Speaker 2 (08:28):
We talked about it on the show that playing with
that calf muscle was gonna be risky. Remember we talked
about if he can show up and give us a
Willis reed. He did that game six twenty three. That
was a little bit more. But coming into game seven,
it's like you forget that that the way you feel

(08:50):
going into a game seven, you feel so much better, Yeah,
but you're not so much better. You still say it's
more damage if anything. Yeah, you know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (09:02):
When I say still the same, I mean you're still
dealing with the same You're still.

Speaker 4 (09:05):
Dealing with the same thing.

Speaker 2 (09:07):
And a lot of times like you so hype and
you feel good, Like how many times I can remember
so many times like man, I feel good and then
jump and land and be like, now, how did this happen?

Speaker 4 (09:22):
Right?

Speaker 2 (09:24):
You forget you forget you forget that. Oh you're still
injured and you're still nursing the injury. So it was
tough to watch that because that young man deserved to
be be able to finish that game and walk off
that court on his own. But he will be back.
I know that's right. He'll be better, most definitely. Will

(09:46):
most definitely. So shout out to Tyree's Man and Indiana patients.
They had a great year. Get to the NBA finals
such when you get there and lose, but they have
an incredible year.

Speaker 3 (09:58):
So congratulation to those guys as well. KD was that fanatics,
That's which we just spoke about in the middle of
an interview when he was traded to the Houston Rockets,
And there are some conspiracy theories floating around, so I
must have asked you before we get into the trade,
what side of the conspiracy theory do you stand on?

(10:20):
They said Kad chose for that news to come come
out on Sunday because he wanted overshadow the thunder. I
personally don't think KD is that type of guy. That's
what people tried to say. I ain't rocking with that.

Speaker 4 (10:40):
That's great, man, that I can't rock with the conspiracy theories.

Speaker 2 (10:45):
A lot of times, you know, these trades they happen,
and they just happened, like the desperation of the team
to get it done. And then information travel fast in
our sport, right, so kt the players the last person.

Speaker 4 (11:01):
To know that they're getting traded?

Speaker 2 (11:03):
Fact always so him finding out on stage and you
know at the festival for fanatics, that could possibly be
you know real. I mean maybe he knew, maybe he
had to just like I mean, maybe he knew it
was coming. But at the same time, doing the interview,

(11:26):
the fan reaction, right and the call out from the fan.

Speaker 4 (11:30):
That's what I liked about the content.

Speaker 2 (11:33):
Uh, you know, seeing fans and seeing how media travels
so fast. You know, now the player is really the
last person to know if you're not on social media.
Or like a KD you don't feel like asking your
phone for two days, you shouldn't. Then everybody find out
that you find you know, and then you find out

(11:53):
like damn for real?

Speaker 3 (11:55):
Is it possible that we can create this situation for
like you think about how many guys have the bad
story Harrison Bars can trade a while on the bench,
DeMarcus Cousins getting traded, finding out he's traded in the
middle of an interview after the All Star Game?

Speaker 4 (12:15):
Do you think that this is a way the NBA?

Speaker 3 (12:18):
Like, should this be a requirement for the NBA, Like
for guys not to look stupid? So, you know, because
those things as happy as Kadie was right, like for
most to your point, for most guys, they could find
that out sitting on that stage and they don't.

Speaker 4 (12:35):
Know, right I think.

Speaker 2 (12:39):
I mean, I'm kind of like yes and no, because
part of working for a team, or part of being
on team management is you know what, if you just
want to trade somebody just because you think it's a
good deal, now you got I mean, if you're saying
the first person, I think the first person that should
be told is actual player.

Speaker 4 (13:01):
That's what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Yeah, I agree, with yeah, because I think, you know,
for most for most players, right, like, of course you're
not going to be in the driver's seat like Kevin
Durant was, But there should be some type of system,
some type of fine system, like, yo, this get out
before these players and this player's camp is alerted, like
that's an issue, you know, but I think there should yeah,

(13:23):
go ahead. I think there should be ultimately some type
of guideline to be uphell you know that, because it
can be a great thing, right, But at the same time,
like just finding out wherever your feet.

Speaker 2 (13:39):
That's crazy, it's Hella gray, right because think about it,
like the media is always gonna find out before you
that you got traded because they the one doing all
the digging, right, so soon as the trade happened one
side on the other side, I mean, I see, they

(14:00):
should contact the player, but the player still don't feel
like he didn't know.

Speaker 4 (14:05):
Yeah, right.

Speaker 2 (14:06):
I remember getting traded from the Clippers to Cleveland, and
Bennie del Nagro sat down and was like, oh, man,
you know, we like what we like, what we like.
We're gonna sit you down, you know, don't even worry
about playing. Don't worry about playing New Orleans. I'm in
the locker room and the media lady came up to me.

Speaker 4 (14:28):
She's like, you know you're getting traded, right I was like,
hell no, for real. I was like, hell no, for real? Right, bro?
It was shocked. I was shocked, right, I was shocked.
So how did you react to that? Though? Like him? Uh,
you know, I stood fire. I still firm.

Speaker 2 (14:50):
But by the time the game was over, by the
time I got to the bus, they was like, well,
the train ain't happening. It ain't happening yet. I gotta say,
you know, I got family in New Orleans, say buy
to my family, get on the bus, and then now
my teammates finding out right it look like.

Speaker 4 (15:09):
Then we get on the plane and it happened.

Speaker 2 (15:11):
So I got to fly back home with the Clippers,
with Bennie Del Nagro, all the players on the team.
So I decided that, you know, I've been quiet over
here for two and a half years. I ain't really
said that. I ain't ready said nothing to nobody. I've been,
you know, keeping it low key. So I just went

(15:34):
up to each person and just kind of told him
how I felt about him and how I'm going to
continue to feel about.

Speaker 4 (15:44):
Some of it was love.

Speaker 2 (15:45):
Some bit was just like, you know, critique, but it
was more so like I wasn't really trip By the
time I got off the plane, I wasn't really tripping anyway, right,
I was like, it is what it is. But it
was important for me to kind of like get that
angst off my chest because I was, you know, you're
dealing with some when you're not winning, you're dealing with

(16:08):
some busters. And at a certain point of the league,
the league was shifting to like where it is now,
so there was gonna be a conflict between what's old
and what's new. Did they work hard for it or
the entitle like we had to do all this they
not doing nothing, you know. And then to your point,

(16:32):
like the media knowing management not really, I'm you know,
I got beef with management, so it can happen at
any time. They did approach me and ask me for
a buyout, which I probably should have took, uh, you know,
considering the circumstances that if I look back, it wasn't
as bad a deal as I thought it would would

(16:53):
be to like get up out of there.

Speaker 4 (16:54):
But yeah, I just let everybody know how I feel.

Speaker 2 (16:58):
Sat down with everybody sat down with young dudes like
DJA told them like yo, bro, like you could you
can really do something, you know, like don't get caught
up and all the shit that you saw me caught
up in. You know, just just hoop. You know, it's
gonna be different front for you. You know what I'm saying.

Speaker 3 (17:16):
So question, after this happened and you could have taken
the buyout but you didn't.

Speaker 4 (17:22):
Your next deal, what was your next deal you.

Speaker 3 (17:25):
Signed after this contract that you were currently thinking about
taking the buyout on, what was the next deal you signed?

Speaker 4 (17:32):
I think it was like.

Speaker 2 (17:33):
This was like my uh, I was already like two
years into my last deal, so my next deal was
like a two year deal because I was hurt.

Speaker 4 (17:46):
But how much like was it more than minimum? Now
I don't need that. I think it was like around
the minimum. Okay, Because the question I had was, I feel.

Speaker 3 (17:58):
Like when you do take biot in this league, where
you say it may have been a great situation, but
I feel like when you do take biots in this league,
it's almost hard to get off the minimum From that
point over four.

Speaker 2 (18:10):
Yeah, I think well I would have probably not been hurt,
went to Charlotte, right, got a chance to get back
with Jay Rich and stack in the East Coast, so
you won't worry about the minimum, you know.

Speaker 4 (18:28):
What I mean?

Speaker 2 (18:29):
Because I was still I was still one of the
illest uh huh. But it was just I was playing
for the Clippers, okay, right, And so.

Speaker 4 (18:40):
It was hard.

Speaker 2 (18:41):
It was hard to wake up every day, and you
gotta deal with so much drama before you can actually
play basketball. You gotta do all this talking before you
can shoot a basketball. You gotta do all this scouting
and all this shit. And it's like, man, can we
just play five on five one day and everybody shut
the fuck up?

Speaker 4 (19:03):
Like that's how we get better?

Speaker 2 (19:05):
Right, But it was just, you know, it was just
like where you know, it just warmed me. They just
warmed me. So but I was still good and I
was still you know, I can get whatever numbers at
that point, I can get whatever numbers I wanted, depending
on how to floor the game or what my perspective
of the game. So leaving I probably would have had

(19:27):
a better opportunity to, like I was not hurt, to
pick up and then take off again somewhere else. Right,
the NBA Finals are here, and every play could be

Obviously, the Phoenix Suns has agreed on the Blockbussel Trade
said a fifteen times NBA All Star, two time final
MVP Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets for Jalen Green,
Dylan Brooks, the number ten pick in this year's NBA
Drive and five second round picks.

Speaker 4 (21:35):
So just taking that into account, obviously the deal is done. Now.
You know, what's your take on these new Litok Rockets
at KDAN.

Speaker 2 (21:46):
You know, man, that was gonna be that was gonna
be my question to you. You know, I've been saying
that KD is upgrade. When you think about what the
Rockets needed, They need a fishing scoring and what Katie
brings in presence, his offensive awareness, his defensive awareness, his

(22:09):
overall I am aiming to win a championship.

Speaker 4 (22:13):
I think it's a fair trade, right.

Speaker 2 (22:18):
I wanted to know how you felt because I was
analyzing y'all game and y'all series as the reason why
this trade happened. Because when you look at it Jalen Green,
and you look at Dylan Brooks, and you say, when
they played well, did the Rockets win more than likely?

Speaker 4 (22:40):
You know, yeah, I'm saying no.

Speaker 2 (22:43):
In that series against Golden State, right, in that series,
Jalen Green had one great game, right, they won. Dylan Brooks,
let's say he was as consistent. He was consistent, right,
he didn't like he had a assistant series.

Speaker 4 (23:02):
Jalen Green had an up and down series.

Speaker 2 (23:05):
Right now, you start looking at who could they rely on?
Ben Fleeck sing go and Thompson yep, and so Thompson
leaped from.

Speaker 3 (23:17):
I would say that. Here's what I was saying. I
know no one gives some credit. But also I thought
Javari Smith was.

Speaker 4 (23:24):
That's what I would saying, Yes, I thought so too.

Speaker 3 (23:27):
And I thought Javari Smith worked his way back from
almost going the wrong way as the number two pick
to like, hold on, I don't like I can compete
at this level. And I think he worked his way
back and will probably be in the star lineup. But
this Rockets team moved before and I think well deserved.
So you know when I look at it, and you
know you mentioned those two guys that listen, anytime you

(23:49):
can add to Kevin Durant, it said upgrade. I don't
care who you are as a team, any team in
the in the world in basketball, if you add Kevin Durant,
it's an up right. Now you start speaking on like
if you add Kevin Durant for Steph Curry, Now those
are different conversations. But if you're just in this case,
you know, or in most cases, you add Kevin Durant

(24:12):
to the roster, it's going to be an upgrade.

Speaker 4 (24:15):
So make no mistake about it.

Speaker 3 (24:18):
You know, everybody trying to make like these conversation pieces,
it's Katie.

Speaker 4 (24:23):
You add him to the roster, your roster is better.

Speaker 3 (24:27):
Now you talk about now, if you want to discuss
the business of basketball, then you have a different discussion
when you start talking about salary and what happens with caps,
and that's a totally different question. But that's not what
we're talking about here. What we're talking about here is
you add Katie to that team, it's that team better.

(24:47):
And where they struggled was, you know, Jalen had a
very tough playoff series. You'd like to think if he
had a better playoff series they win. Who knows, but
you'd like to at least think that. Dylan Brooks, like
you said, he was consistent all year. Uh, he played well,
he shot the ball really well this year. Dylan Brooks

(25:07):
is who he is.

Speaker 4 (25:09):
On a contract like Dylan Brooks on you will always
kind of be to throw in.

Speaker 3 (25:12):
Piece absolute yeah, you know, and that's just kind of
the nature nature of the business. I don't think Dylan
Brooks was traded because Dylan Brooks did anything wrong in
this situation. I think Dylan Brooks was traded because, quite honestly,
that's how this business works. And your contract make the
money work. They wont Kevin Durant, your contract make the
money work. And you know, when you look at the

(25:35):
way this team has been built, of course they're going
to trade throw throw Dylan Brooks in to make that
money work before they throw Jabbar's Smith in or they
throw u Tarry's like, these these young guys that were
drafted by this general manager. Now Jalen Green Russ as well.
He ain't gonna just get rid of all the people
he drafted, you know, he got rid of one. And

(25:57):
so I think when I look at this, it's an upgrade.
K D has his familiarity with a may Doka as
a coach. I think KD still wants to compete at
a high level. And I think this team, like when
you look at the rosters of everywhere we heard KD
may go, this team did the least gutting of a

(26:19):
roster that a team may have had to do to
make it up still to still make an upgrade and
still keep keep the roster in a good spot. So
that's what I think happens for the Rockets. That's that's
the way I think it looks for them.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
For KD.

Speaker 3 (26:35):
Talk about Phoenix on the other hand, I think it's
a little different situation. But for the Rockets, I think
it's good. Also shout out to freddie V got a
new to deal to stay with the Rockets. Well, the
way I saw him lead that team in the playoffs, like,

(26:56):
and they're gonna need his leadership. They're gonna need his
leadership with that team. I think, with with with Fred's
demeanor and how Fred go about things, and with KD
and how KD go about things, I think it'll be
a good match. Yeah, you get some of the exactly
some of the stuff that Kate don't want to do,
and people try to make it like an indictment. Okay,

(27:18):
his character. Know, there's just some stuff that we're all
human beings and there's something we all have strengths, we
all have weaknesses and certain things that Kad don't like
to do.

Speaker 4 (27:28):
Fred will do that.

Speaker 3 (27:29):
And guess what, on a basketball team and team sports,
that's actually how we're supposed to work. And so, you know,
I think this puts them in a really good position.
I think they're obviously going to be a team to
be wrecking with your expects going to make a big
jump after the playoffs. He had, you know, expect Tyres
and all those guys may jump.

Speaker 4 (27:50):
So it'll be interesting.

Speaker 3 (27:52):
I think, you know, I think that team is in
a really good position, and I definitely think it's an upgrade.

Speaker 2 (27:57):
Shout out to our boy, Fred Fleek. I mean, I
just I totally agree the new Orleans Pelicans are trade
is CJ McCallum, Kelly Olynnock and a future second round
pick to the Washington Wizards for Jordan Poole, Sadig Bay
and the number forty overall pick in the second round of.

Speaker 4 (28:20):
The NBA Draft. What does CIS trade mean for both teams? Draymond?
What does it mean for the Pelicans? What this means
for the Pelicans is that Joe Dee's coming in.

Speaker 3 (28:33):
He's making some changes he wanted to see, you know,
just acquire some young talent in Jordan Poole to see
if he can still make it work with next to
the Zions, you know, Trey Herb Jones, you know, see
if you can put it together with these young guys.

Speaker 4 (28:51):
I think.

Speaker 3 (28:53):
So when I look at this Pelicans, this move. You
got de Jonte be coming off from Achilles entry. Look
at this Pelicans move, I like, I think when you
add a talent like Jordan Poole, no, CJ is kind
of who CJ is. You know, Jordan George still has
room for growth. I don't think we've seen the best

(29:14):
of his growth yet. And I think getting in a
in an organization like New Orleans under Joe Dumar's leadership,
you know, with with Willie green a to coach, I
think would be a really good situation for him. I
think Washington the first year he spent in justin last year,
he had a really good year numbers wise, But when

(29:35):
you're on that team, it don't matter.

Speaker 4 (29:37):
And so I think, you.

Speaker 3 (29:38):
Know, when I look at when I look at this
for the Pelicans, I look at this as a net post.

Speaker 4 (29:44):
You know, you didn't you didn't have to go crazy.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
From a salary cap standpoint, I think Jordan may make
a little less than CJ or right around the same amount,
you know, but yeah, I think you still got time
for him to prove himself. A couple more years left
on this deal. Uh two or three more years left
on his deal. I think he's still got time to
prove himself. And with some young guys who are also

(30:09):
looking to take that next step, and so I think
they become a team that you got to watch out
for in the West. You know, they got a lot
of talent. They're gonna they can put it together. They're
gonna creep up and can possibly have in good years.
So that's what I think this move mean for the Pelicans.
The Wizards. What you got for the Wizards. You look
at that trade for the Wizards, you know.

Speaker 2 (30:33):
I actually like him for the Wizards. Why Because I
think CJ. McCollum is what the Wizards need. You need
some veteran leadership. You need someone who can play basketball.
You need someone that can talk to your young guys
and get them in positions to play NBA basketball. You

(30:55):
got a Linux there who's like, uh, you know, a
bridge players, somebody who can come in and learn the system,
be a vet.

Speaker 4 (31:03):
So you really trading.

Speaker 2 (31:05):
You know, young energy from Pool who is a dynamic scorer,
but you bet on Pool to be you know, your
next all star, superstar player and leader. I think you're
gonna get the leadership in McCollum. You're gonna get more
consistency out of what do you have now. I don't

(31:27):
know how how many years McCollum got on this contract,
but I just like that.

Speaker 4 (31:34):
I like this trade in favor of CJ.

Speaker 2 (31:36):
And then I also think for Washington it's a good
move to start submit your organization with some veterans around,
especially the young guys you have, because they're gonna take
some time to develop, or if they develop properly, they
can skyrocket over half a season with their time.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
No doubt.

Speaker 3 (31:56):
I think what we're starting to see Morris teams went
so far left with the youth movement that they're realizing that, no,
you can go young, but you gotta have some veteran
leadership in there.

Speaker 4 (32:06):
Or is the blind leading the blind and that.

Speaker 3 (32:08):
Don't And so I think that's what we're starting to see.
You know, when you look at this OKAC team, they
started with all those young guys, but throughout those years,
they brought in Chris Paul's, you know, and different guys
that has helped continue to show from a veteran leadership standpoint,
the way to.

Speaker 4 (32:27):
Shade and for sure to take the raise.

Speaker 3 (32:29):
So I think teams are starting to realize that, I know,
Will Dawkins comes out of the OKC tree, and you know,
just to watch them put those veteran leaders around those
young guys, I think it makes sense. I expect CJ
to go in there asking for an extension, to extend
that money, and but I think overall, I think it's
a good move for both groups.

Speaker 4 (32:50):
But the NBA Draft is currently going on.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
NBA drifting one of my finest nights you know, he
was the third pick, so maybe you want to like
get all hight for the draft.

Speaker 4 (33:01):
I think that shit don't matter, don't It's all about
where you go.

Speaker 2 (33:07):
Man. I always say the draft is whatever team you
go to with system. It don't matter where you what
pick you go. You just want to go to the
right situation. And we've seen that countless amount of times
with you know, players in the second round you look
at I think, you know, the story that's most relevant

(33:27):
in my time was with Sean Lewis, you know, being
a first round pick and getting drafted in the second round,
being upset or wind up going to Seattle and wind
up becoming the Men. Yeah, faster than he would if
he would have, you know, went to a Portland at

(33:49):
the time or Indiana at the time.

Speaker 4 (33:51):
I had to sit behind some bets. So you know,
the draft.

Speaker 2 (33:55):
For the draft, for me, it was incredible, you know,
being the third pick, I didn't really know nothing about Charlotte.
I didn't really know who was on the team until
I got drafted.

Speaker 4 (34:12):
Yeah, I went to a good team.

Speaker 2 (34:13):
I went to a vet team, a playoff team, a
team that was you know, trying to make it in
the playoffs. In a tough, tough Eastern Conference, and I
got a chance my rookie year to sit on the bench,
which I did not like as a number three pick
because the coach tell me I should be starting by
men season.

Speaker 4 (34:34):
But it was cool if I.

Speaker 2 (34:36):
Would have got drafted earlier later who knows what kind
of system, But I went to a system where I
was able to grow and they ultimately become an All star.

Speaker 3 (34:47):
And yet three, no doubt, No, I think, you know,
I think where you go, Like you said, it's far
more important. Where was you at on draft? I was
in sagging off the doll event center, baby with a
terrible suit on. And how was it? Well, how did

(35:08):
it go for you? Because you were supposed to be
a lottery pick?

Speaker 5 (35:11):
Right?

Speaker 4 (35:11):
Yeah I was.

Speaker 3 (35:12):
I wasn't necessarily going to be lottery, but I definitely
was like projected to the top twenty, top twenty, top
twenty five. Yeah, and you know, to go thirty fifth pick,
it's like, dang, you see the end of that first
round come You're like, man.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
So it's a great night, you know, but it was
very bittersweet.

Speaker 2 (35:31):
Feat was people overreacting at the party or at your event.

Speaker 4 (35:37):
Well more people.

Speaker 2 (35:38):
Overreacting than you or well, I know you were disappointed,
but like what was the what was the hype and
then like the whole the death.

Speaker 3 (35:48):
I don't think anybody overreacted. I think people are all shot.
You know, you could kind of feel like the Anks
way like way and they're like man like when it's
gonna happen. But I don't think anybody over acting. Nobody
made too much of it. I probably I probably felt
with most about it. You know what I'm saying, It's
just because I know the work that I have put
in and I knew what I had to offer and

(36:09):
so on. In the second round was baffling to me.
But in saying that, to get your name called and
special special in NBA draft is special. So I'm forever
grateful for that moment. I hope these guys enjoy it,
enjoy that night, and then't understand that tomorrow and yeah,
one guy may get an opportunity faster, but tomorrow everybody

(36:30):
is in an equal planning field.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
You got to go prove that you you belong in
the NBA and what you can bring to a team.

Speaker 2 (36:36):
Reaction to Drew Holliday Man getting traded to the Blazers
for Anthony Simon's and second round picks.

Speaker 4 (36:45):
What's your thought on Yeah, I.

Speaker 3 (36:48):
Think it's just funny to see Drew trade back to
the Blazers after the Celtis got them from the Blazers
in order to help them win the championship. But in
saying that, they say Drew don't want to be there.
I think that was the case the first time he
was traded there as well. But you know, contract situation

(37:08):
is different. I think he three years left on the deal,
so it's counting that up to you at this point,
but we'll see what happens.

Speaker 4 (37:18):
But you know, you signed the contract. He is what
it is.

Speaker 3 (37:22):
So you know, the Blazers going to do us best
for them, and they've made that very clear. You know,
the best player in Blazer history wanted to be traded
to certain places and he wasn't traded to those places
that he wanted to be traded to. So they've shown
that as a franchise, they're going to do us best
for the Blazers, you know. So, and it's a good

(37:45):
pick to him to see how I play out. But
I think Drew can also whether if he stayed there.
I think, you know, he can be a great asset
for Chance, you know, bridging that gap between Chance and
you know, these young guys and kind of being that
coach on the Florida veteran leader who still got game.
So you know, I think still got a way to

(38:06):
see how I play out. But you know, this is
a team that is y'all and definitely rebuilt. So be
that as draft night. I think that's that that may
still shake some.

Speaker 4 (38:19):
Yeah, okay, yeah, I can see that's still shaking up.

Speaker 2 (38:22):
But uh, you know the Anthony Simons with Boston, Uh,
for Drew, I can understand why Boston is doing this.
We can understand how he can fit in because Boston
doesn't really they need scoring. They need more scoring guards
now because of you know one, I would say, Jason

(38:45):
Tatum going going down, you know, looking for for scoring
is their dynamic. Shooting threes is their dynamic. You got
another dude that can really get out of stress the floor,
catch fire. I think it works in a system, But
for Drew, I think it's great for Portland and it's
great for Drew. You get to mentor you get to hoop,

(39:07):
You're gonna be in at the end of the games.
You don't have to worry about Uh, you know you're
gonna be the closer, right and part of that closing
team for the Blazers, and you get to break scoop
a log.

Speaker 4 (39:19):
And I like what Portland had last year.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
If as we get closer to see what they do,
I'm gonna probably call Portland as my sleeper team last
year or this year.

Speaker 4 (39:32):
You know, my.

Speaker 2 (39:32):
Sleeper team was Houston at the beginning of the year.
You see what they did. So you know Portland, I've
been looking at, analyzing if they make a couple more
moves and put a few pieces together. I look at
Portland as a team that can make that jump because
they young dudes, are talented and play hard.

Speaker 4 (39:52):
All right, Well, we're.

Speaker 3 (39:53):
Going to see us the team shape out free agency
and even start got right, That's what I'm saying. Man,
agency has I started, and this man given a sleeper team.

Speaker 4 (40:02):
That's ridiculous what I'm doing. You know, I'll be doing
my scout.

Speaker 2 (40:08):
Man, I got a scalt I got a scout play GM.

Speaker 4 (40:11):
I played GM at home. Free free agency ain't started.

Speaker 3 (40:16):
The draft is just starting that this man is talking
about who he got as a sleeper. And listen, They
also the Celtians also traded at Christophsprezini's to the Hawks.
The Celtics, listen, this is all about the second April.
People said they didn't want super teams anymore.

Speaker 4 (40:35):
With her, you have it.

Speaker 3 (40:37):
All these moves are being made to dodge that second April.
For those out there that don't know what the second
apron is, and Layman's turn for you, it's.

Speaker 4 (40:45):
A hard cap.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
It is a hard cap that no owner is dealing
with because the penalties are crazy. You lose draft picks,
you lose the mid level exception, you lose roster spots,
you lose the ability to get better and compete as
a team, and the amount of money that you lose
is insanity. And so the Boston Celtics would have had
a salary caps with luxury tax bill of five hundred

(41:09):
and forty million dollars. It is now at two eighty
because they got rid of those contracts. So for those
that don't understand what the second apron is, as as
basic as I can flitt it for you, it is
a hard cap.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
And when I.

Speaker 3 (41:23):
Said this before the deal was the sign that this
is ridiculous and it's going to hurt players. In the end,
no one wanted to listen, and everybody wanted to act
like the PA was making a great deal. The PA
made a shit deal, as the PA has done for
years now, and every year the pop gets bigger and

(41:44):
the business gets better and the players get screwed more.

Speaker 4 (41:47):
That's that's just how this business works.

Speaker 3 (41:49):
And so in saying that back to the Boston Celtics,
that's what all of these moves are about people. That's
why they got rid of Persingers, That's why they got
rid of Drew Holiday. That's why you're hearing so many
people call on Jaylen Brown. You're hearing so many people
call on Derek white Is because they know they want
to give away from that second Apron tax and Jason

(42:10):
Tatum being out, things are up in the air.

Speaker 4 (42:13):
You straight for Anthony Simons.

Speaker 3 (42:15):
I think listening there they they're the boss and tell
us they got to be competitive. But at the end
of the day, it's an expiring deal cap situation all
of those things, and you got Jason Tatum hurt.

Speaker 4 (42:28):
Right.

Speaker 3 (42:28):
So, if I had to guess, Jaylen Brown, if he
have any Nixon nax this year, probably won't be in
the lineup because you're gonna recalibrate, you're gonna let your
books settle, and then next year with Jason Tatum coming back,
then you try to retool and start going for it again.

Speaker 4 (42:47):
And that's just how these things work.

Speaker 3 (42:48):
You'll see this all over the NBA for years to come,
because that's just the way that this CBA works, and
so you'll see this happen over and over again. That's
my spiel. That's the second April.

Speaker 2 (43:06):
We asked for no more super teams, so we're definitely
gonna get no more super teams, but we're also gonna
get teams that rise in the draft, do great things
in free agency, and they're gonna it's gonna be more
broken up teams than the teams that you grow up on,
being like, yo, this team has been together for five years.

(43:27):
That's gonna be hard to do, especially, you know, having
young players becoming great and getting better with that cap.
Guys in Vegas traded to the Orlando Magic but KCP

(43:50):
Cole Anthony four unprotected first round picks and a pick swap.
What do you think about the Magic move and how
does Bane fit with the current Magic team?

Speaker 4 (44:04):
Okay, potential lineup sucks.

Speaker 2 (44:06):
Bane Paulo uh Franz Wagner and Carter Jr.

Speaker 4 (44:14):
Oh, did somebody get fleeced for unprotected first round picks
and a pis walk. That's a lot, that's why. That's why.

Speaker 3 (44:27):
So when I saw the trade, I was like man's lot,
and I.

Speaker 4 (44:33):
Like bane, that's a lot.

Speaker 3 (44:37):
And then I saw what Orlando's general manager said. I
saw Quotese made and it made complete sense to me
why they would make that deal. Yeah, he said something
along the lines, uh, if you went into a lot

(44:58):
and created a basketball player, you go into the lab
and create Desmond bay And I said, oh, okay, that's
why he gave up so much. All right, cool, Well,
the reality is, I think Desmond Bain has done great.

(45:22):
I think he's a very good player. But if I
go into live and create a basketball player, I'm gonna
create Kevin Durrant or Lebron James, or like a six
six dude with Steph Curry's jump shot. Desmond Bain is
six 'y five with a six four wingspan or six
two wingspec or something of that nature. I'm not going

(45:45):
into lab and create No, with all due respect to
Desmond Bank, I'm not going to create a basketball player
with short arms.

Speaker 4 (45:55):
So when he said that, those are.

Speaker 3 (45:57):
The things that went in my mind, like, wait, he
got short ours, You're gonna go create a basketball player
with short arms. I don't quite understand that, And so
I was a bit surprised by the statement, but I
understood what he was trying to get at, like Bang
played both sides of the ball, but like, you gotta
find a better way to articulate that. You can't like

(46:19):
be like you're going to last when you go create
a player, you go create a player on two K cresize.
You created like six sixteen handle and shoot, you're not
creating Desmond Ban. But it made complete sense to me,
like why.

Speaker 4 (46:41):
They made that move? And I'll take it a step further.
I don't know this to be factual. This is just
my guess. My guess is they've been looking for a
point guard.

Speaker 3 (46:54):
My guess is they called on John and Memphis somehow
formed it, curved the ball back around and there was
Desmond Bang in the trade. Fourth first round picks and
an unprotected pick. Swap is insane. So it's obviously a

(47:18):
move that says they they believe in Paulo, they believe
in Franz Bogner, and we're gonna put someone around him,
some shooting that can add you know what I'm saying,
That can take some pressure off of them, and he
more than just a shooter, like he can get into
a bucket, you know.

Speaker 4 (47:35):
And so but that move, what the move signals to.

Speaker 3 (47:38):
Me is that they believe in those guys and they
want to try to go for with those guys. And
also what that move says to me is which I
agree with, they think the league is wide open and
right now is to take his shot. I just don't
know if that's the shot I would have taken with
four first round picks unprotected and a pick swap, I'm

(47:59):
not sure that's the out I would have taken. Just
it seems like a lie. But I do understand where
they are. I understand what they're what they're doing, what
they're thinking is and I respect anybody who's willing to
go for all.

Speaker 4 (48:11):
Right, where does the Band trade leave the Memphis Grizzlies.

Speaker 3 (48:15):
I think it leaves Memphis sort of in the same
position that they were in, not that Desmond band is
just easy replaceable, but they still got Jared.

Speaker 4 (48:23):
They still they still got Jared They still got Jah.

Speaker 3 (48:27):
They got a young Zach Edy, they got a young
jaylen Wells, they got a young G. G.

Speaker 4 (48:34):
Jackson, they got a young Scottie Pippen. So I think
it leaves them.

Speaker 3 (48:38):
Like again, I always say this, I don't think and
I try to tell people this.

Speaker 4 (48:46):
All organizations ain't trying to win championships here they are.

Speaker 3 (48:51):
That's essentially a shred salary cap move for Memphis. Take
all the picks back, stress from salary cap. See what
we can do with these young guys. But if we can't,
really and it don't matter. We got all these picks
for the future. Right, that's a salary cap move. So
where does it leave them? I think it should be

(49:11):
clear as day to Jah. You've got to understand how
this business works. Clear as day is that is that
organization really trying to win a championship. When I see
the move, I say, no, you're worried about other things
and you're pulling away. But y'all just pulling back the taxes.
Y'all pulling back. Y'all want to get the tax so

(49:33):
you let you know. But this has been a thing
with them. This has been a thing with Memphis. They've
been doing over and over again. They had a team
where it seemed like they had a chance. They let
the Anthony Melton, they send the Anthony Melton away to Philly.
They let Kyle Anderson wall.

Speaker 4 (49:53):
Right now you fast forward, it's vain. So this is
a thing for them.

Speaker 3 (49:59):
I think they're that don't want to get to the
tax and they make moves based on that.

Speaker 4 (50:03):
That's why I think this least Memphis all right.

Speaker 2 (50:06):
You know, there's been also, I would say a lot
of sayings or a lot of chatter about Memphis players
being reluctant to play in Memphis because it's a danger
space to live. Do you think that also adds to it?
I think Memphis is a great place. I think that
we should be one trying to uplift and highlight like

(50:30):
all the positive things. And so when you hear statements
like that from people like they don't necessarily be tapped
in right. And I don't like statements like that because undermines,
you know, the goodness, the positivity, the true essence of
you know, a city that needs to be uplifting. You

(50:54):
watching First forty eight and shit like that, and then
you're making assessments off that that's that's television, that's entertainment.

Speaker 4 (51:01):
Right.

Speaker 2 (51:02):
We're talking about people who blood, sweat and tears, you know, uh,
come and support you know, the Grizzlies, right, talking about
people who you know, support kids and and Memphis basketball
on all levels, the work you know, Penny doing so
you can't, you can't. It's just it's just bust the

(51:24):
comments to me. You know, I got a lot of love.

Speaker 3 (51:26):
For the city of Memphis. I got people from Memphis too.
People from Memphis has always shown me love. Even they
staff when we in their building, they show love. Everybody
in Memphis has always shown love. So and I was
about to go to Memphis two years ago. So I
wholeheartedly disagree because the last thing that was on my

(51:47):
mind was this is a dangerous place to live. I
can't go. Every city in the world has a dangerous park.
Every city in the world has a dangerous part to it.
So yeah, I'm not going to sit here and single
out that city and be like, yo, a player can't
go to that city because it's too dangerous. Come on, man,
there's that's a wow. There's a dangerous part of Los Angeles.

(52:10):
There's a dangerous part of Detroit. There's a dangerous part
of Miami. There's a Miamis.

Speaker 4 (52:16):
Part of the New York. There's a dangerous part of Dallas.
There's a dangerous part of Houston. There's a dangerous.

Speaker 3 (52:22):
Part of there's a part of Charlotte, you name it.
There's a dangerous part of everything. So to single off
that franchise and try to make it like nobody want
to go there because that place is dangerous, don't do
that to that city.

Speaker 4 (52:37):
I disagree with that wholeheartedly.

Speaker 3 (52:39):
Like I said, I was about to go there two
years ago and the last thing that was on my
mind was I'm not gonna go play at with that.

Speaker 4 (52:46):
Team because that's dangous.

Speaker 3 (52:47):
Is We're here to play basketball, raise our fans on man,
and be great, great pillars and the absolutely, man.

Speaker 4 (52:56):
How can I help that? You stop it? Man?

Speaker 2 (52:59):
That's we should have could have caught that one buzz
off or something like that.
