You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we go. It is a Monday. We are rare
and to go live in Los Angeles. Yeah, I got
a cold, but colds are for whimps. Baby who's missing
on Monday. Wherever you may be and however you may
be listening, Thanks for making us part of your day.
Jamac So, you have been on me for about a

(00:50):
month with my devotion to Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes
and uh, you know last year and we talked about this,
Kansas City was eleven and oh in these one score
games and we were like, that's kind of random, brother
h and four this year, so let's start with this. Listen,
there is a thread, there is a trend. When Kansas

(01:12):
City loses. It's usually not the defense or a drop
pass or the run game. It's because Patrick Mahomes is uncomfortable.
Last night Kansas City was terrible on third down, dominated
time of possession, only got sixteen first downs. Mahomes hit
fifteen times. This is why they've been blown out in

(01:33):
a couple Super Bowls. Josh Allen conversely twenty three of
twenty six because Josh Allen was comfortable all night and
Mahomes was never comfortable for three and a half hours.
That defensive front Joey Bosa, that's why they signed him.
He's a pain in the butt and Andy Reid knows

(01:54):
it last night. So there is a way to beat
Kansas City when they lose, and sometimes they they lose ugly.
Mahomes is getting hit now. It's not all roses and
rainbows for Buffalo. Okay, Kansas City lost twenty eight twenty
one and had the ball late trade deadline tomorrow. Buffalo

(02:16):
needs to go out in upgrade. This was an instructive win.
Kansas City probably is just gonna get healthier up front,
going to cross their fingers a little. Buffalo's got a hole.
They got a hole. But there is a trend when
Mahomes this year is hit seven times or more, they're

(02:36):
one and three, and so last night's a great example.
It felt like one of those games we've watched them
lose in the Super Bowl where you're just like, he's
not comfortable, he doesn't trust his own line, he lets
go with the ball early, and he still almost pulled
it out. But if you're Buffalo, just think about this.
Josh Allen's nearly perfect. You run for one hundred and

(02:56):
forty yards, you're at home, you're perfect in the red zone,
you dominate time of possession, you win the turnover battle,
and Mahomes had the ball late going for the tie.
So again, not all losses are awful losses, and not
all wins mean you've solved everything. I watched Buffalo, and

(03:19):
my takeaway is, how does Kansas City have a chance
to tie this game? They got punched in the forehead
for three and a half hours and we're moving the
ball down the field. I mean that stuff was nightmare
fuel for Buffalo late year. They got know they're not
going to do it again after they clank the field goal.
So the one thing, though we kept saying last year
Kansas City Philadelphia was the best team last year, I

(03:41):
think right now there's an argument the La Rams are
the best team for the second straight year. The best
teams over in the NFC, not the AFC. AFC's got
the better quarterbacks. I think the NFC's got the better teams.
But last year this team was unbeaten eleven to zero
in one score games, and now they're zero and four.
The only team worse the league is the Test. So
that's your company. So the last two years Kansas City's

(04:04):
had a hole on that half offensive line. They had
to let go Joe Tooty. This year Joe Totey's now
at Bear. So Buffalo, don't pat yourself in the back.
Howie Rosevean's already made a move. Go upgrade wide receiver,
Go up grade wide receiver. You beat them, it doesn't
mean you're gonna beat him. In January, here's Patrick Mahomes

(04:27):
on the loss.

Speaker 3 (04:29):
We've had great moments, we've had bad moments. We got
to be more consistent as a team. I gotta be
more consistent in that quarterback. We got to be able
to battle. I mean, we've we've kind of been in
all these these tight, close games and our history, but
if they're not going our way now, so how can
we deal with that adversity? How can we be better
and learn from it? I mean, you only learn from
so many losses. I mean, you gotta gotta learn from
it fast and set uphill battle when we get back.

(04:52):
But I think our guys are up to it.

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Yeah again, there are not every win solves all your issues.
Learn from stuff. I want to talk about the Chicago Bears.
So much in life and in sports is just getting
slightly better. I always tell my kids that you don't
have to take big swings. You can hit a lot
of singles and doubles in life. Just get a little better.

(05:14):
Caleb Williams and the Chicago Bears football operation just keeps
getting a little better. They lose that game last year.
Five wins this year already matches last year, and four
of the five have been ugly. They are winning ugly.
Who cares they're winning. Last Friday, I said, I like
Chicago in this game because when Caleb gets a run

(05:37):
game like he did against Dallas or Cincinnati, he's very effective.
He doesn't throw picks. He didn't in high school, he
didn't in college, he doesn't in the NFL. So he's
maintained that he's not throwing picks. They had a run
game yesterday. Last year, they were atrocious in one score games.
There were three and seven. This year they're three and one.
There is an art to winning ugly Kansas. He did

(06:00):
it last year. Now you're not going to keep doing
it year after year after year. But Kansas City was
great at those close games. This year they're not for
a variety of reasons. So the Bears offense right now
is fourth in the NFL, believe it or not. And
Ben Johnson yesterday four different Bears through a pass. He's
gotten into his tricks. You know what it tells me

(06:21):
when Ben Johnson now is using more tricks is that
Ben Johnson now is more confident in the base operation.
That's what it tells me. Ben's like, okay, now I
can do some tricks. Now we can get a little fancy.
Ben didn't want to do that quite as much early
because he didn't trust the foundational stuff. But yesterday they
ran for over two hundred and eighty yards. It was

(06:42):
a real offense. Now the defense has major holes. This
is not a super Bowl team. They got to solve
the defense. But I have said before when the season started,
I said, do not get paralyzed by the Chicago Bears
win loss record. I think I had him at eight wins,
I said number one gotta cut the sacks in half. Well,

(07:03):
last year through eight games, twenty nine sacks. This year
they've cut it in half. So again, this is not
rocket science. They're running the ball better, they're taking fewer sacks,
they're winning the turnover battle. It's not science. A lot
of this stuff is can you just look like a
grown up adult business? Just improve a little? And not

(07:24):
only year to year of the Bears improved, but every
week now are they're using a few more tricks. Now
they've got a little more confidence. So between Ben Johnson's
brain power and Caleb's brain and horsepower to real football team,
there's gonna be With Caleb, there's gonna be wow moments.
Here's the walkoff touchdown, mostly walk off to Colston Lovelin,

(07:49):
but doon emotion's left. They're blitzing. It's picked up. Caleb
Crows middle.

Speaker 4 (07:53):
Of the film level touch picks away the thirty glove,
the twenty glove, the ten close an en zone.

Speaker 1 (08:00):
It's down Bears. Coaston Lovelin out of pro by Caleb
Williams on the blitz, what's Sevenden? Seconds to go? Now
they shouldn't have needed that touchdown to win because they
gave one up on the other side, as Joe Flacco
throw Fromer's five football fields. But that's okay. I mean
yesterday is a great example. I mean, go look at

(08:20):
the Raiders, Jags games. I mean, go look at around
the NFL, the Colts all year push people around. Yesterday
they they got worked. You don't know. I mean Denver
literally wins only one way in the fourth quarter, constantly trailing,
So you can't worry about it. The bottom line is
this was going to be a shootout. The Bears defense

(08:41):
gives up a ton of yards per play and the
Bengals was atrocious. But so much in life and in
sports is just getting a little better. There's a lot
of singles and doubles out there. That's to me what
I see from the operation. It's what I see from
Caleb ben Johnson. Now more trick plays, has a little
more more confidence, more sets, more motion, more looks. That's

(09:03):
what it looks like to me. Here's Caleb.

Speaker 5 (09:06):
After speaking to coach throughout the week, we knew that
this is an explosive offense. They can score at any moment.
They can score. He's something he said it before the game,
day before the game, or so that, you know, we
get up by two touchdowns, don't feel good or comfortable
with the guys after the game. It doesn't matter that
they put up how many ever points they put up.
We're all excited for this win. This is a big

(09:26):
moment for us, you know, to be able to go
into this next quarter of the season.

Speaker 1 (09:31):
The one thing I'll always say about Caleb Williams, he
is a thick, strong kid, so he doesn't get hurt,
and he doesn't throw a lot of picks. He's got
you know, he's got a big arm. For a size,
I'm actually taller than him. He's not a real tall guy,
but you never think about his height because he plays
so big. He's thick, he's got a huge arm. He

(09:53):
plays with a ton of confidence. He missed a couple
of layups yesterday. He missed a couple of easy ones.
He's completing about sixty of his throws. That's not his
bread and butter. He's he's kind of the opposite of
Kirk Cousins. Right, You're not gonna get the easy stuff,
but the ceiling he'll blow through it, you know, four
times a game. But you gotta feel good. They're better,
They've got a quarterback. It's not very often we say

(10:15):
it a Monday. I love the Bears offense. I don't
know what's going on in Green Bay. Don't say that
a lot over the last thirty years. But the Bears
offense is getting better and the Packers offense is completely lost.
And we'll talk about that. Jay Mack from the World Series,
which is the best I've ever seen to you know this,

(10:37):
This league is so funky. You just like the Colt
yesterday totally worked. Lions Vikings was weird. I have my
thoughts on the Packers, and I've always defended Matt Lafleur,
but I'll say this again. I think the Rams are
the best team in the NFC. I think we pay

(10:57):
so much, and I think I think Howie than the
GM of Philadelphia making moves. He knows it. So that
Rams win over the Scent. No, that's not it.

Speaker 6 (11:05):
When the Saints had the ball for sixteen, No, what
it is though, in a league of upsets and weird finishes,
that was the most predictable game in the first series
on it was like workman life.

Speaker 1 (11:16):
And the other thing is the Rams have an identity.
The Bears are starting to find an identity. The Bills
last night, run the ball, pass rush, have an identity.
Packers don't. So this is a time of the year
where you know, because these games get close, you don't
have a full roster. Everybody's beat up. There are no
perfectly healthy teams. So what do you do when you're

(11:37):
missing five starters? This is why San Francisco is winning.
They have an identity. They're all beat up. But when
you don't have a full roster or your backup quarterback, Okay, guys,
this is what we are. San Francisco is Christian McCaffrey,
this is what we are. The Packers don't have an identity.

Speaker 6 (11:53):
They didn't punt yesterday. They went up and down the field.
Just a lot of mistakes which led me to believe.
Remember we talked about it being a trap game last
week against Aaron Rodgers, next week against the Eagles in primetime.
And this is the lowly Panthers. Who Panthers have I
think the same number of wins as the Kansas City
Chiefs are something close to that. Like the Panthers are
they good?

Speaker 1 (12:12):
Un On Friday? I set on Friday Show, Watch out
for the Panthers. I had a feeling it was a
trap game. And if you watch Carolina's defense, you know,
when you have high draft picks year after year after year,
you got dudes. Yeah, like they got some receivers now
at Tucker.

Speaker 6 (12:29):
Craft injury for the Package, Rude, Big One, Rudal becoming
a tight end, League two tight Ends, three tight Ends.

Speaker 2 (12:35):

Speaker 1 (13:11):
Check us out on YouTube and subscribed. Welcome back. You
know it's funny everybody wants me to love their young quarterback.
I love Drake May. I think Michael Pennix is really good.
You know, I love bow Knicks, Caleb's coming around. I
feel terrible for Jaden Daniels injured again. JJ McCarthy. I

(13:34):
feel like at Michigan as like, yeah, they're not asking
them to do much, and everybody this morning is like,
oh what you think of JJ McCarthy. Bow Nicks is
on a six game winning streak. Statistically, he's the best
fourth quarter quarterback in the league, and you all keep
telling me stinks. My take on JJ McCarthy, he was
good on script first quarter, one hundred and forty one

(13:56):
passer rating. Rest of the game his passer rating was
thirty eight. I'm buying the coach, Kevin O'Connell. I'm buying
Justin Jefferson. I buy the left tackle Christian Darisow. But
JJ McCarthy I felt like I was watching Michigan JJ McCarthy,
don't screw it up and make one big throw. So
Kevin O'Connell has made Kirk Cousins and Sam Darnold look

(14:17):
like first ballot Hall of famers. I don't have a
lot of games. I got three games, and again when
I watch him, I gave Caleb Williams credit when he
was very good on script. JJ McCarthy on script with
this brilliant head coach and Justin Jefferson and Jordan Addison
in this Pro Bowl left tackle. He's very good on

(14:38):
script and he deserves credit for it. But I don't
have a lot. You know what it felt like. It
felt like a Michigan game where the Vikings had more
rush yards than passing yards. The story of the game
used to be Michigan's defense, not their offense, and it
was Minnesota's defense which wrecked Detroit's offensive line. And at

(14:58):
the end of the game, JJ McCarthy made one great
third down throw. I felt like I was watching Michigan's
JJ McCarthy. By the way, in both of his wins,
he's won twenty seven to twenty four. He's thrown for
exactly one hundred and forty three passing yards. He's had
two tds and one pick. I feel like I'm watching
the Michigan version now, with this coach and this left

(15:19):
tackle and these receivers that could be good enough to
be a playoff team. But at Michigan, I loved Harball,
I loved the defense, and I love Colston Loveland. That's
how I feel. He's like the ups driver. I don't
know who he is, but they always deliver on time.
The package is never screwed up. I love the delivery system.
I don't know if the ups drivers any good. Seems

(15:41):
like a nice guy. So it just felt a lot
like the Michigan JJ McCarthy, which is I love the
coach at Michigan and the tight end and the defense,
and that's what I felt yesterday. It was fine. He
was good on script, but it's not a script league,
you know. And I said that about Caleb. It's great,
he's coachable, but this you get thirteen possessions, Eleven are

(16:06):
not on script. And here's JJ McCarthy after the win
over Detroit.

Speaker 8 (16:11):
We really played very well on all three phases, but
there's a lot of meat on the bone in all
three phases. So we got to go back to work
and you know, make sure we correct all the little things.
And I'm happy that we got the win, but I'm
not proud, to be honest with you. There's a lot
of meat on the bone, and I feel like I
could have played a lot better. But coming into this
environment and you know, controlling my emotions, controlling you know,
kind of my temperament going into it, I was proud

(16:32):
of that.

Speaker 1 (16:33):
Yeah, perfect, That's exactly what he should have said. Perfect.
He won. It was a road game. I will say this,
Brian Flores, I hope he got a game ball because
I mean Detroit's offense golf got sacks five times, hit
another eleven. I think I think Minnesota had ten tackles
for losses. They just blew up the Lions run game. Now,

(16:57):
Laporta was great. He always is. Amor on Ain't Brown.
The game ball felt like a lot of these Michigan games.
I'm giving it to the coach and the defense. But
that's okay. It's a win. It's on the road, it's
in division. You're gun on the podium after you made
a one big throw in the third. But you guys
still hating on bow Niggs. He's on a heater. He's
like Brady in the fourth Quartery, you still don't like him.

(17:19):
So I just need to see more. J Mack with a.

Speaker 2 (17:22):
News no, no turn on the news. This is the
head line.

Speaker 1 (17:27):
Find chugging vitamin C with turmarec today.

Speaker 6 (17:31):
I do apology, a little tumoric action to start today.
Like it all right, Colin, let's go with Seattle Seahawks.
Last night, absolutely des whid the watching this was one
of those rare primetime beatdowns on the road. I mean,
they were up twenty eight nothing in this in no
time flat. Sam Darnold sixteen of sixteen in the first half.

(17:51):
How by the way, how about those Seahawks throwback jerseys.

Speaker 1 (17:53):
You had to love those first of all John Snyder's
the GM. Just ask yourself watching the game did not
Did it not feel like a power for team in college?
Playing an out a conference game like Seattle was so
much faster and so much bigger. Now there were backups
playing for Washington the key spots. But this was my
worst blazing five pick of the year. Even when I lose,

(18:14):
I usually feel I'm on the right side. You can
tell early, Oh, second drive, You're like, oh, Sam is
just playing pitch and catch JSN is he the best receiver?

Speaker 6 (18:24):
I think right now he's the best receiver in the league.
I mean, I know, justin Jefferson's awesome and Chase's awesome,
but this guy's getting open and he's their top guy
by a mile.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Every defense news we.

Speaker 6 (18:33):
Gotta stop Jason and he's getting he is.

Speaker 1 (18:35):
Really I'm telling you, wait, I said it after this draft.
It was the second draft in a row that I thought,
arguably Seattle had the best draft John Snyder. And they
look the part, and they're young. They're Green Bay level young,
so they're gonna get better and better.

Speaker 6 (18:50):
So Mike McDonald, whose team is one of the best
in the NFC, let's be real, he's really proud of
Sam Darnold.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
Believe me when I say it, I'm not surprised.

Speaker 6 (18:58):
We watched We watched Sam every day on how he operates,
and he's the same guy every day, which is what
you love about him.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
And we're chasing it.

Speaker 5 (19:07):
You know.

Speaker 6 (19:08):
The guys are determined and and it's fun to watch,
and the teams when the team comes together, that's this
type of stuff that you can do.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Seattle is bizarrely dominant on the road. Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:20):
Well, I was just gonna note as a young team
at home against Arizona's short week could be Kyler Murray back.
But this Seattle team is interesting. I'm gonna give you something.
This is better than your Broncos call last year, because
I don't think anybody had this Seattle team being this good.
Right now, we saw the Packers lose, the Lions lose.
I know you love the Rams right now, but I

(19:42):
think Seattle's really a dangerous team that defense.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
So the Seattle would be my fifth year in a
row that I took a team to make the playoffs
that nobody doubted. And I did it because of John Snyder.
I didn't do it just because of Donald. Donald's obviously
much better than Geno Smith. He always has been. But
that's not the case. It's I love the draft. You
love the draft, and I think Seattle's last couple drafts
I said this Pete Carroll and John Snyder, there was

(20:07):
a lot of that wasn't a healthy relationship at the end.
Now John runs the drafts they have hit on. I
mean they have those last three years and there's seven
or eight gms. I talked to. John is one of
the sharp guys. But boy, when you watch this team,
they've got you that royal the tight end JSN. These
guys are only getting better.

Speaker 6 (20:25):
Remember they moved off Metcalf and Lockett and was like, Oh,
I don't know what are they doing. I mean, they
were pushing all the right buttons. It looks like when
they come to the line, they look like a running
team and the next thing you know, like five guys
go out in patterns and you're like, oh my gosh, Settle.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
One of the most lobsided road standalone game wins I
can remember.

Speaker 6 (20:43):
I mean that being said, Washington is feels like a
dead team. I thought that last week. I don't we
don't want to talk too much about Washington, But.

Speaker 1 (20:51):
Is Quinn in trouble right now? Like? No, but what
you start to wonder, and this is fair to say
the injury was brutal. That's the fourth injury in two
years for Jayden and Daniels. And what concerns me is
when your college issue or concern becomes your pro issue.
Remember Johnny Manziel, You're like, he's kind of small and
he's kind of immature, and then he comes to the
NFL and he's really small and immature. Jaden. The question

(21:13):
what Jayden was, he's really thin and Kennyan door that
was the only question about it. Everybody loved him, but
he is thin and we're seeing him now. I mean,
he's clearly a great talent, but so much of this
league was far of an Eli, Manning and Brady. You know,
everybody's playing hurt. That injury is really grucous.

Speaker 6 (21:32):
You like when Joe alts out, You don't bet the
Chargers when Terry mclaurin's out, don't bet the Washington Commander.

Speaker 1 (21:37):
They have nothing on offense.

Speaker 6 (21:39):
Let's move on to the Rams sticking in the NFC West, Colin.
They came out of the bye week and I mean
this was anstruction and they paced the Saints. It was
not really close at all. Poka Nukua with a great catch.

Speaker 1 (21:50):
Here's a weird thing. I didn't even realize this.

Speaker 6 (21:52):
So Matt Stafford's odds in the MVP rankings are climbing significantly.
Another four touchdown effort two hundred and eighty one yards passing.
Here's Jared Verse saying, hey, after watching the Dodgers win, Yeah,
we got something to say. Wat's gonna be able to
dominate like that.

Speaker 1 (22:07):
Get that way, bring that will say back to LA.
It gets us hyped up, and now we know we
gotta be nixt there you go. Yeah, it's easy to say,
well the Saints stink, but this this league. We saw
Tampa go down to the wire and trail the Saints
and then come back, and I mean that's the NFL.
It's a very close league. I think they're the best
team I think they're the most complete team. And I

(22:28):
love Stafford. Uh, there are times in his career he
could be a bit reckless. He's ironed out the reckless.
I mean Davonte Adams. George Pickens and Devonte Adams were
two wide receiver pickups. They have both been unbelievable, unbelievable pickups.
While the Cowboys and the.

Speaker 6 (22:46):
Rams, yeah, I mean, as listen, this Rams team totally complete.
I don't see a weakness other than special teams. Colin,
Let's be careful. They their kicker missed a field goal
and an extra point. I didn't know he's got four
missed us a season.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
I think they dropped him. You don't need that crap
in the.

Speaker 6 (23:03):
Postseason, Okay, in the playoff games where it matters, you
need to trust your guy. So that would be the
one weakness that I saw. By the way, this New
Orleans Saints went forty plays and had the ball for
sixteen minutes.

Speaker 1 (23:15):
That that's a bit bab the most dominating performance of
the year by a team. I don't disagree. I don't disagree.
I like it.

Speaker 6 (23:21):
A final story, calm, the Atlanta Falcons went to New England.
This was actually a vital, good game, a bit of
a crazy fourth quarter. So let's highlight this play right here.
So it was a huge third down. Michael Pennix thinks
he got them to jump and then he decides, I'm
just gonna dirt it.

Speaker 1 (23:36):
Okay, we got the flag.

Speaker 6 (23:38):
No, there was no flag and he was called for
intentional grounding brutal. So they were faced with fourth and
fourth and twenty and they decided to punt.

Speaker 1 (23:46):
They don't get the ball back.

Speaker 6 (23:47):
So afterward, Raheem Morris says New England, there were some
shenanigans going on.

Speaker 1 (23:54):
They claim here's here's Rayee Morris.

Speaker 9 (23:57):
They did a nice job. They assimilated a snap. The
ball came early. We snapped early within that snap. That
was when we got the intestional grounding. Nice job by
those guys. They would clap in simulated our snap. Got
to snap the ball to know that's what a ball
was snapped earlier Mike when he wasn't ready for snap.

Speaker 6 (24:12):
Now, of course people have dug into the video and
there's no clapping.

Speaker 1 (24:15):
Well, that's your job as a quarterback to identify that.
You can't blame the Patriots. You have to identify that
that's and again, I'm not going to crush Panics. He's
a young kid. How many times has he started? You're
on the road. Yeah, So, I mean then this game
comes down to the kicker missed a pat.

Speaker 6 (24:32):
They've blown two games because the kickers. And I'll tell
you there are parts of this team.

Speaker 1 (24:36):
I love. Drake London's insane was so good. He's so good.

Speaker 6 (24:39):
Yeah yeah, b Jeon Robinson weirdly back to back strange
non factor games after he cooked the Bills. I don't
know what to make of the Falcons. They dropped two,
three and five. They're now behind the Panthers in the division.

Speaker 1 (24:53):
Well look at I mean, it's funny these divisions. Can
Kansas City is what five and four? Yeah, they were
at Denver is seven and two, and I think Denver's
hosting them this week. That's like, I mean, that's that
is a Denver.

Speaker 6 (25:05):
Denver has Raiders and that oh so Denver has the
Chiefs in two weeks. Okay, so there's a trap, potential
trap game against the Raiders Thursday night. I'll have plenty
I've already bet the game. I have a lot of.

Speaker 1 (25:15):
Stuff on that.

Speaker 6 (25:16):
But uh yeah, tough one for the Falcons. Patriots, by
the way, did not look amazing.

Speaker 1 (25:21):
No again, young quarterback, we said it. They have so
many new starters. I think it's remarkable that they are
playing as well as they are. I thought they'd win
ten games.

Speaker 6 (25:31):
They could win fourteen to thirteen Colin. They go to
Tampa this week. They are underdogs. Tampa off a bye.

Speaker 1 (25:40):
Denver is seven and two. Their next two games are
at home than a bye. Yeah, no, Denver, Denver's in
good shape. I don't pick them to win the division,
did not win it. They're not winning the AFS. Do
you pick them to win the AFC West? That was
my pack.

Speaker 6 (25:52):
Better be careful, some of these teams may be putting
you on blast on social media with these predictions.

Speaker 1 (25:58):
You saw the Buffalo Bills back with the news.

Speaker 2 (26:01):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
herd line.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
You know it's I would vote Aaron Rodgers into the
Hall of Fame, obviously first ballot. He's one of the
twelve best quarterbacks I've ever seen. I always thought he
was better than Farv. I thought he was more of
a thinking man's quarterback, few made fewer mistakes. So I
always liked Aaron a little bit more than Farv. He
can drive me nuts. A little projecting here and passive

(26:28):
aggressive stuff. I don't think that's great leadership blah blah blah.
But when Aaron was in his prime in Green Bay
with a great organization, it was impressive. Obviously, I'm so
blown away what he's doing in Pittsburgh. This has been
a dysfunctional offense for seven years. Last year Pittsburgh was
twenty ninth in the red zone offensively. Now they're top ten. Yeah,

(26:49):
TJ Watt in the defense knocked around Daniel Jones. They've
done that thirty times in five years. But I mean,
Aaron Rodgers and Sam Darnold are not the same player
now they've left. They When I watched Aaron at the Jets,
I thought he was old. I had set on the air.
I'm like, go to Minnesota or retire, dude. You look old.
Aaron looks nimble. It's like, uh, I don't know if

(27:12):
it's ayahuasca or whatever. I don't know what it is.
Aaron is moving great, his body language is good. He's
top ten and touchdowns completion percentage passer rating. You can say, oh,
it's our defense. Give me a break in the two
big Steeler wins the Colts in New England. They got
eleven takeaways. That's nonsense. That's not going to happen in

(27:34):
big games. This Steeler team is all about Aaron It's
all don't don't kid yourself, don't don't talk about the defense.
Your defense does this, It's still not a very good defense.
The Steelers offensive line and pass protection right now is
mid They average one point seven yards a rush. I

(27:55):
could fall down and average that you could too. So
the line's not very good, especially in pass protection. The
run game is not very good, and despite what you
saw yesterday, the defense isn't very good. This team is
going to go as far as Aaron Rodgers can take them.
And right now, do you know he's on track to
complete sixty eight percent of his throws and have thirty

(28:15):
six touchdowns. That is better than that amazing Brett Farviere
with the Vikings. It's better than that. So I think
the credit does not go to the defense, or Mike
Tomlin or the run game, or it goes completely to
Aaron Rodgers. This was a disfunctional, tone deaf relic, a

(28:37):
dinosaur of an offense. They're good in the red zone.
I mean they are high completion percentage. Move the chains.
I mean yesterday you know TJ. Watt doing what TJ
Watt does, But none of it matters if Aaron's not
completing twenty five or thirty five and moving the chains.
Here is Aaron after a surprising too win.

Speaker 10 (29:02):
This was a really important win for us though, to
not lose three in a row, to not go to
one and three at home, and to kind of get
that big elephant that was starting to try and jump
on the back to the defense, which is made up
of media and you know, outside outside conversation about them.

(29:26):
So we're all human, and I think those guys you felt,
you know, pretty upset, had little red ass about what's
been going on. So I'm proud of them the way
they came back and responded.

Speaker 1 (29:37):
Also another instructive win. If you're Pittsburgh, I think you
have to look at the running back position. I think
the Bills need to get another receiver. Don't patch yourself
in the back because you beat Kansas City. I think
give Aaron another running back. Old quarterbacks are always better
with the run game. The Rams are running the football

(29:57):
very well. Stafford looks amazing, so I thought both the
Steelers and the Bills very impressive wins. I'm it is
amazing you leave the New York Jets. Sam Darnold is
the highest rated passer I think in the league. And
Aaron looks fantastic. He looked old last year. He's looking good.
And don't don't kid yourself about the defense yesterday. It's

(30:19):
not a great defense. This is not a great defense.
All right. Best World Series I've ever seen. And I
think Colin Wright collin wrong. On top of the hour.
I think I figured out the Packers problems because they
got problem.

Speaker 2 (30:38):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noone Easter, not a Empacific listen.

Speaker 1 (30:44):
Just because we have better weather. All our teams win championships,
and people are handsome and ten year round. It's no
reason to hate Los Angeles. Twenty six million people minimum
watch the World Series. The final rating comes in tomorrow.
My guess it's twenty seven or two. Only eight million,
you know, just everybody doesn't like the rich guy rot right.

(31:05):
For the record, the Mets, Phillies and Yankees are just
shy of a billion dollars of payroll this year. They
want to combined one playoff series the Mets, Phillies and
Yankees has a lot of team spending money. For all
those that get worked up about the Dodgers' money, it
was thirty six year old zero time all star on

(31:30):
retirement's door McGill Rojas Game seven ninth inning that actually
saved the season. Here it is playoff drill to left
field indep.

Speaker 4 (31:44):
Head good, no way, Magelrojas.

Speaker 1 (31:52):
Dave Roberts played his gun.

Speaker 2 (31:54):
The guy hadn't had a.

Speaker 4 (31:56):
Head in a month, and in the ninth inning of
games he sent a tiny home run.

Speaker 1 (32:03):
Also made a key defensive play. Again, Miggy's on the
doorstep of retirement and Dave Roberts pulled the right lever.
Oh there's also defensive replacement Andy Pahz. This happened. Take
a watch.

Speaker 4 (32:21):
Five ball to left field Hernandez on the run with
Pajz over his head. Paz runs him over, makes the catch,
sends Game seven to the ton Incredible. Andy Pahz, fresh
into the ball games.

Speaker 1 (32:40):
Center fielder makes the play of the night in left field.
Just absolutely unbelievable. We're not done. Will Smith, who caught
seventy three innings in the World Series, including all of
the eighteen inning game. He did this Smith.

Speaker 4 (32:58):
It's a high fly ball on a deep laft field.
It's got a chance. It is God. It's Will Smith.
In Game seven, they'ren in the eleventh inning. Game seven,
the Dodgers leave for the first time.

Speaker 1 (33:13):
Will Smith, Miguel Rojas, Andy Pajes. Yes, Yoshi's the best
pitcher in baseball. But when the Yankees were dominating, they
had Clemens and Kohne and the great Andy Pettitt and
all stars. They were winning the Hot Stove League. For
the record, Rojas is the fourteenth highest pay player on
the team. They moved Will Smith up in the batting order.

(33:36):
Dave Roberts made all the right moves for the record.
The Dodgers won Game six why due to a bad
base running mistake by the Jays, and they beat the
Phillies on a walk off error by Philadelphia. So yes,
the Dodgers like a great football team. If you fumble,
they'll score, all right. You air ball it, they'll take

(33:59):
it to the other into the floor and dunk on
you. You can't make mistakes, but the Dodgers don't make many.
Here's Dave Roberts after back to back World Series crowns
right now.

Speaker 11 (34:10):
I'm just really elated and really proud of our team,
our guys, the way we fought, and we've done something
that hasn't been done in decades. And you know, there
were so many, as we talked earlier, so many pressure
points on how that game could have flipped, and we
just kept fighting and you know, guys stepped up big
so I could just go on and on about you know,
the big plays, the big performances, and you know, this

(34:31):
is one of the greatest games I've ever been a
part of, and this whole series and what the Blue
Jays did, and they gave us everything they had and
just such a first class organization.

Speaker 1 (34:39):
Yeah, I mean, Toronto out hit the Dodgers, but the
Dodgers out pitched them. And in crucial situations, the Dodgers
were the better team. They were the better base running team,
they were the better defensive team in crucial situations. That's
all these playoff series come down to. Great hitting is
going to be great. Great pitching will beat great hitting.

(35:01):
And the Dodgers had the best pitcher easily. You go
back and look at all those you know, Jeter and
Pisada and Bernie No, it was Mariano Rivera closing out games.
And the starting pitching for the Yankees was fantastic. I
mean last year when Garrett Cole pitched against the Dodgers,
Yankees looked like as good as the better team. So yes,
they made a big bid on Yoshi. Several teams did.

(35:23):
I said it last week. He paid for himself and
then some in the World Series alone, Yoshi is four
to oh. He is more than paid for himself. And
you get what you pay for, all right. The green
Bay Packers, it's a bit of a mess. Listen. They
wore those leather helmets, those fake leather helmets. They took
the game to literally. Their offense looked like something from

(35:43):
the fifties. They never punted, they rushed for over one
hundred yards and they lost at home sixteen to thirteen.
And Bryce Young for Carolina didn't even play particularly well.
So my takeaway is Green Bay and this is a problem.
They don't know what they are. They didn't even punk.

(36:04):
They don't know what they are. Jim Harbaugh, you knew
what the Chargers were. Second game in Sean Payton has
already made a brand for the Denver Broncos. We are
great late. You may lead, We're unbelievable. We are a
fourth quarter team. And I'm not saying it's easy, but

(36:25):
it is essential. What are the Packers? They want to run?
That's Matt Lafleur's d it's his DNA, but they're not
great at running. They can get yards, but it's empty calories.
I think I would just give the offense to Jordan
Love and let him rip. But I mean, it's weird.
They beat the Vikings soundly, they beat the Steelers soundley,

(36:48):
but they lost to Cleveland and lost at home to
Carolina and tied Dallas. So they have got a form
an identity. And you can blame anybody you want right now.
But the best teams in this league, like Philadelphia. AJ
Brown didn't play. Philadelphia's offense look great. Why because AJ
Brown gets in the way of the Eagles identity. They're

(37:12):
a physical, run first offense. AJ Brown's a distraction. That's
why I've said move it. Green Bay doesn't know what
they are, so's you could say, well, they're young. Seattle
is almost as young. Seattle has an identity run first,
big swings downfield, and a fast, aggressive defense. I'm telling you, man,

(37:33):
it doesn't matter what business you work in, it can
be football or anything else. What are you and I
just I don't know what Green Bay is right now?
Here is Matt Lafleur on the home loss of the Panthers.

Speaker 12 (37:48):
We've had penalties, We obviously had a fumble on the
first drive. We had three possessions in the first half,
a nine play drive, a nine play drive, and a
ten play drive, and we had six points. So it's
going to be tough if we can't figure it out
and score in the red area. And it's just gonna

(38:09):
be tough to win football games like that.

Speaker 1 (38:11):
So here is my issue. They have the fifth highest
run rate in the league. That's Matt Lafleur's DNA. He
wants to run the ball, yet they're twenty fourth in
yards per carry, so they just don't. They're not a
good run team. They're better finesse. They're better with Jordan
Love moving around making plays downfield. Now Tucker Kraft is

(38:31):
out for the year officially. Brutal, great kid, great player,
played at South Dakota the jack Rabbits with a great
college player, just a football player. I think he played,
you know, full back and linebacker in high school. He
goes to South Dakota and then he goes to Green Bay.
He's a marvelous player, So it is becoming more of

(38:52):
a tight end league. I think he's a fairly capable blocker.
He's out for the year. Now they got musk Grave.
They have another tight end who's very solid. And I
think this all the time. The teams I like, and
as you get closer to Thanksgiving, do you know what
you are? And it's not easy. Some coaches, you know, hardballs,
do it real quick. John and Jim I think. I

(39:12):
think Sean Payton and Denver has really figured it out.
Is that listen, we're going to be a great late team.
We are going to be really good late. We're never
out of it. We take big swings. We're very aggressive.
But at Green Bay, I watch him and I'm want
they don't punt. They ran for one hundred yards. They
got it, they had. You know, they're just not terribly
effective in key spots in the game. Now. I don't

(39:34):
think Caroline is awful. I think you're thinking Carolina is bad.
I thought the line was quirky. I said Friday, this
is gonna be a close game. This is a trap
game for Green bay Watch out. I said it Friday.
I almost put it in the Blazing five. I didn't
should have, but that's where we are today. When you
watch them play, what do you think they are?

Speaker 10 (39:51):
Now?

Speaker 1 (39:51):
That's a good point.

Speaker 6 (39:52):
I think they missed the kid read Jayden Reid. Remember
they lost him with the broken collar bone earlier this season.
He's just an awesome talent.

Speaker 1 (39:59):
He can do.

Speaker 6 (40:00):
It's like a Swiss Army knife line him in the
backfield slot out wide. They miss him, but the Craft
injury leads me to believe you're right. I don't know
what can they be a running team with Josh Jacobs.
Craft is a great blocking tight end. He didn't go
nuts yesterday. Jacobs. It's a tough one because a week
ago we said the Packers, Yeah, Colin, they're the best
in the NFL. Now it's like you lose a lots

(40:21):
of the Browns and a lot of the Panthers, both
by three.

Speaker 1 (40:25):
Like what I mean. One of the reasons the Lions
loss was so surprising because the Lion's identity is punishing
you up front, and the Vikings punish them. So it's like,
just because you have an identity doesn't mean you have
it every Sunday. It's hard to create it, harder to
maintain it, and I think green Bay is a little lost. Offensively,
