Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Here we go, it's a Friday. It's our two ready
to roll. First hour, fu By completely flew by. You know, Jmac.
I had a winning week first week. Last week robbed
in the Denver loss. I'm not going to complain about it,
but probably the toughest beat I've had. I mean, I

(00:47):
told you this off aeronon. That's the toughest beat I've had,
probably in three years. But you know what, I'm not
a victim. No, that's not who I am. I just
put the work foods on, grab the shovel and start
digging out picks. So here we go is week three.

(01:07):
I feel good about it. Blaze and five.

Speaker 2 (01:10):
Let's blaze it up right up, It's Collins Blazing five
Rams said Eagles.

Speaker 1 (01:16):
I'm gonna take the Rams plus three and a half,
best second half team in the league. Stafford's the highest
redded quarterback, but more than anything, it's the number one
scoring defense in the league. Both opponents held under twenty
Not only are they getting to the quarterback eight sacks
from six different players. This defensive front is gnarly. And

(01:38):
the Eagles offense they have three plays, just three plays
all year over twenty yards. It's a bb gun despite
a great o line in Saquon Barkley. I don't get
the number Eagles offense trying to find its way, Rams
defense getting better by the quarter. I'm gonna take the
Rams to upset them. Twenty seven twenty three.

Speaker 2 (02:00):
Dealer said Patriots.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
I'm gonna take the Patriot as a home dog plus
one and a half. Drake May played very well. What
I like they're getting after the quarterback. Mike Brable's got
that defensive front coming. Also, they've been hard to run
on and Pittsburgh doesn't run it anyway. Aaron Rodgers been
sacked seven times in two games. They haven't run the

(02:21):
ball in Pittsburgh in seven years, and they're not going
to run it against New England, meaning Aaron on the
road is going to have to throw. And this Steelers defense,
I don't know what's wrong, but it's a mess on
the back end, and they're allowing six and a half
yards of play. I like the Patriots straight out to
win this game. Twenty seven twenty three.

Speaker 2 (02:46):
Saint said Seahawks.

Speaker 1 (02:47):
I like Seattle big. They've held both opponents under twenty
points Jackson Smith and Jigba. Yet looks like they found
a number one receiver, and that was the concern I said.
I thought Darnold was an upgrade. O line will be better.
Both have been true. Listen, y'all tell me about Spencer Rattler.
Can you win a game? You know, they've been oh

(03:09):
and nine the last couple of years against playoff teams.
They've lost seven team straight games when they allowed twenty
plus points. I'm gonna take Seattle to score twenty points
in this game. Spencer Rattler's completing under sixty percent own
eight is a starter. They're traveling cross country. I don't know.
I like Seattle here at home twenty eight to twenty.

(03:30):
I don't even I don't even think it feels that close.
I think the Saints maybe score, you know, they try
to backdoor it and score a touchdown. I think Seattle
is going to control this football game and cover Cowboys
it Bears. I'm taking the over. I think Dallas will
win close, but I'm taking the over fifty and a
half points. Listen, the Cowboys have the best third down
offense in the league. Against that Giants defensive front. It

(03:53):
was pay day and they did what they wanted to
Javonte Williams. We always liked him in Denver, Dallas picked
him up. They found some creases in the offensive line.
Steede Lambs having a monster year and the Bears. Bears
defense is allowing seven yards of play Clayton Johnson's out
and they're bad on third down. So the Bears don't
move the change, they will not be able to keep

(04:15):
the ball away from Dak Ceedee Lamb George Pickens. So
the Bears have too many three and outs and that's
a recipe for a tired second half defense missing their
best corner. Cowboys win at twenty eight twenty seven, But
I like the over on this game. Bet the Cowboys
Bears over. Whether it won't be a.

Speaker 2 (04:36):
Problem here Lions and Ravens Monday Night Football.

Speaker 1 (04:40):
You know what I say when Lamar Jackson hosts an
NFC team, I don't care what the spread is. It's
Ravens minus four and a half. I'm taking Baltimore onotom
line once again, number one scoring offense in the league,
seven to one. Over their last eight home games, ten
of the thirteen have come by over a touchdown. And

(05:01):
here's what I don't like. The defense for the Lions
is allowing a forty eight percent conversion rate on third down.
That's near the bottom of the league. And so and again,
you know again the first drive, Caleb Williams moved down
the field. I don't like teams that struggle on third
down defensively, especially against Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry. They

(05:23):
have a way of picking up the first downs, dominating
the clock, keeping your quarterback and your offense on the sideline.
Ravens win thirty twenty three. I'll take him to cover
the spread. Eric Mangini is now joining us. First things

(05:43):
first to see him all the time, Jamack, you said
you liked the picks.

Speaker 3 (05:48):
Love the picks. In fact, Patriots is a smart play.
I think at Pittsburgh's way overvalued Ton this could be
your first five and zero a little bit.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
Well, come on, let's slow down, nut hating.

Speaker 4 (06:00):
Am I big.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
Guy, Eric Mangini now joining us from New York. So
I said, look at he's nodding into Greem and he
loves those picks too. You can tell me I like
the picks.

Speaker 5 (06:14):
I don't know. I don't know about the New Orleans picks.
Seven and a half is a lot of points.

Speaker 1 (06:18):
It is.

Speaker 5 (06:18):
It is the only one I'm worried about.

Speaker 1 (06:20):
Okay. I was saying this. Sometimes you and I in
our lives have watched history. I grew up and I
saw Hank Aaron surpass Babe Ruth. I remember that was
one of my first sports memories of the kid. And
we know we're watching history, and then there's times that
it's not necessarily about a record, but we're watching something
that doesn't make historic sense. Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills

(06:44):
have not lost the turnover battle in twenty five games.
Eric his last twelve games, I get thirty touchdowns in
one pick. I've always said the one thing that's hard
to coach out of star quarterbacks who have horror is
reckless far look manning, name it Elway. It's like you

(07:05):
can't tell the guy with the big muscles at the beach,
hey keep your shirt on he's just born to show
off the fact that he's got this much horsepower and
basically now throws the ball underneath, doesn't take a risk.
He throws it shows he's coachable, he's humble. I think
we're watching his history here in the last twenty fifteen

(07:27):
games with Josh Allen. I don't think I've ever seen
anything like this, this horsepower with no mistakes.

Speaker 5 (07:34):
Yeah, it's been amazing. And you mentioned Brett Farv, So
Josh had the record where he led in the four
previous seasons. He had the most touchsounds and he had
the most turnovers and it was tied with Brett Farvr.
And that's a perfect comparison. When I had Brett Farv
in New York, you love the upside. He loved the

(07:54):
chances that he took, but he didn't love the fact
that he had to take a chance all the time.
And then I used to talk to Brett. I'm like,
I'm like, look, don't you don't have to hit on sixteen.
We'll be okay. We don't want to coach it out
of you. And obviously at that point in his career
you weren't gonna but we need a little bit less
of that, and the fact that Josh Allen was able

(08:14):
to do what he did last year after having five
out of the six previous years with double digit interceptions,
it's it's really impressive, and it's hard to do because
his nature is to take chances. Yes, and for him
to go in into now what three games he has
done a turnover to this season, it's it's really really impressive.

(08:38):
I hope it's sustainable. And if it's sustainable, it's hard
to imagine. This isn't the year that they're They're in
the Super Bowl.

Speaker 1 (08:46):
So I want to talk about Miami for a second,
and I know the game is over, but I thought
Mike McDaniel had him ready to play. There were guys
wide open. He obviously can scheme people open. He'll get
a job as an OC and be great if he
gets released of his duties. I don't doubt that at all.
There's some people that are just built to coordinate and
they're great at it. Steelers for years had a defensive

(09:07):
coordinator who's unbelievable and Steve Spagnall, and that's fine. Some
people are VP Summer Press whatever. But the TUA thing
is interesting because there's a cap hit here, And I've
said the NFL went through a decade where they convinced
themselves that quarterback size doesn't matter. Bryce Young, Kyler Murray, Tua,
Russell Wilson, and you look up now and you're like, yeah,

(09:27):
the big guys are winning again. They're winning all the
And so my take is on Tua. Jay McK and
I talked about this. I like, I think in a
dome team, I think in warm weather it can possibly work.
But I do think watching him throw that pick where
it's like he didn't see the linebacker, he's too he's
too smart, He's had taken too many snaps to throw
that pick. I do think you have to consider going forward,

(09:50):
maybe maybe this isn't this isn't gonna beat Josh Allen.
Josh Allen's going nowhere Eric for the next ten years.
Drake May's a bigger, stronger quarterback. Those teams playing cold weather,
windy cold weather. Where what would you do if you
ran the Dolphins Latua?

Speaker 5 (10:07):
Yeah, it's funny. Buddy Ryan used to say, there's a
place for a good little guy in the NFL. It's
just not in front of a good big guy. And
that's true. The big guys at the end of the day,
are are going to win? And the thing with Mike
McDaniel on too. I remember when when Mike first got there,
everybody loved the impact that he was having. He was
a player's coach, and even Tua really blossomed because he

(10:30):
had dealt with the hard coaching previously. It didn't it
didn't really fit his personality. He clicked with Mike. They
go to the playoffs his first two seasons and he's
taken a step back. But the issue with two isn't
just about the mistakes or his size, but you've also
got the concussion part of it, and you just don't
know when it is the next hit going to be

(10:53):
the last hit with him. And that's what was surprising
me when they initially gave him the big, long term contract.
It's a huge risk, not just because of his size,
but also because of the concussion history. So I don't
know how many more years he's gonna be able to
play and a want to or want to play.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Yeah, No, I didn't like the big contract and I
said it on the air, So I said with Caleb
Williams against the Cowboys, I don't need to win, I
need progress. I don't need a dou w. But you
can't after the first drive be holding the ball for
three point three seconds. The whole offseason, I said, I
don't care about yards, wins, touchdowns, get rid of the ball.

(11:36):
Play within an offensive structure. Through two games outside of
the two opening drives, Eric, I don't see it, and
I just I've been saying this. Now, I don't know
if structure coach is going to work with free wheeling, athletic, dynamic,
ad libbing quarterback. What say you?

Speaker 5 (11:56):
I think it can work, and I think two is
are a think. With Caleb, it's been frustrating because the
defense has been so bad. They're up boards seventeen to
six at the going in the second half. In the
first game, they come out, then they missed the field goal.
He scores the touchdown late, but the defense lets him down,
and then the last game there is no chance defensively.

(12:18):
So you'd like to see him in some competitive games,
consistently competitive games, to see where it progresses. Again, just
like with college, you see plays where like, wow, this guy,
this guy has a chance to be a really good quarterback.
But to your point, every play can't be some sort

(12:38):
of heroic elongated makes something happen play it just can't be.
And he took some heat last year and iber Flues
took some meat last year saying they were he wasn't
taking enough chances. Remember that narrative. So there's a balance here,
and I think he's in a good space to keep

(12:58):
making progress. Defense guy has to hold up there end
of the bargain to some degree to give him a
chance of being competitive game. So he's not trying to
score a ton of points then late in the game.

Speaker 1 (13:10):
So I think al Michaels threw a little shade at
the Eagles last night without saying their name. He said,
you know, some teams are really fun to watch, some aren't.
Some good teams, and it was a little shade at
the Eagles. Here's my thing with the tush push. I
think the league's gona ban it. And this is not
the question, but because they're doing it too much. I
think if you'd have done the defensive shift in baseball
wants a series, they'd still have it. When you did
it constantly, baseball is like, this doesn't work. It takes

(13:34):
base runners. We want more action and base runners. So,
needless to say, the tush push I think will get
a banned because it's just now a bigger part of
their offense than throwing the ball down the field. But
it does symbolize a concern that they have more tush
push attempts then passes ten yards down the field, and
they have Aj Brown and Devonte Smith deep threats. That

(13:57):
signals to me, they don't trust The staff doesn't trust him.
It's not offensive line protection. It's not they don't have
quality tight ends, like they don't throw the ball down
the field. What is that telling me about what the
staff thinks about the player? Jalen hurts.

Speaker 5 (14:14):
Look, I think the forma is fantastic. So he signs
the big contract. They try to justify him as a passer,
and he throws fifteen picks. Okay, So then they come
out at the start of last year and the first
four games, he's got thirty attempts in each of the
first four games and they go too and two. Since then,
over the next sixteen games, he's had over thirty attempts

(14:37):
one time, and they're undefeated over that time period. So, okay,
if that's the forma that wins, it's not going to
be exciting. AJ Brown is going to be on the
sideline at some point with a different book or some
other some other theatrics to subtly or not so subtly
express his frustration. But it's boring, and I'm sure it's

(14:59):
from straighting for everybody who's playing them. But it's a
formula that works, So why not be boring and win
instead of trying to get you know, style points and lose.
It works for them, and then you may hate it,
but it's a formula that works, and I wouldn't deviate
from it.

Speaker 1 (15:19):
So I got a little heat this week, apparently on
the interweb. J Max says it was hyperbole, and I said, listen,
if in basketball the Hall of Fame counts for pro
and college, I mean a Harlem globetrotter is in the
basketball Hall of Fame officials are But in football it's
the college football Hall of Fame in Atlanta and then
the Pro football Hall of Fame in Canton, Ohio. They're separate.

(15:40):
I said, if you combine them like basketball, could I
argue Jim Harball is the best coach ever. He's taken
five messes. Four of the five they were good immediately,
five of five they were very good within two to
three years. He wins a ton and Natty gets Vizipper Bowl.
He leaves all five or a mess next day. He's

(16:01):
not just a coach, he's a soul.

Speaker 2 (16:05):
The soul of.

Speaker 1 (16:08):
The team leaves. And you've been in a room with
Jim and so when I said, if you combine the hall,
is he the best coach? And I always thought Jimmy
Johnson was the one guy that got college right, pro
right one everywhere. Harbball's like five for five. I don't know,
it's just I'm watching Justin Herbert. He's better. I'm watching
the defense. It's number one. I'm watching the tackling, like

(16:31):
some data. They've just gotten better at everything. Hen't does
he know everything about football? What is it? So?

Speaker 5 (16:39):
I've been with multiple Hall of Fame coaches, Bill Parcells,
Bill Belichick, and Jim Harball is going to be in
the Hall of Fame two. And the thing that's different
about Jim and Jim is a very different personality. But
it's it's a really effective personality. He legitimately loves football.
He wants to be carried off, you know, to the

(17:03):
you know, the afterlife from the football field. Nothing makes
him happier than being there. And and the thing about
that is when you get into pro football and even
to some degree, college football, it can be just work.
He brings that enthusiasm that you had as a kid,
when you love the game into each of these programs,
and that's contagious. Then there's the element of he doesn't

(17:25):
care about what's what's happened in the past. It doesn't matter.
He used to say, we're the San Francisco forty nine ers.
We can do whatever we want. And he'd believe that
it did not matter what happened in the past, it
didn't matter what conventional wisdom was. We could do whatever
we want. And that gives him a huge competitive advantage
because he's not bound by group thick They're gonna do

(17:47):
whatever they want. And then the other thing is, look
look at the faith that he's shown in Justin Herbert,
the things that he said. He's not just the best
quarterback in the NFL right now, he could be the
best quarterback ever. That that faith and confidence that you
have in the player, that's contagious too. That permeates into
the player and it's powerful. So it's a stylistically radically

(18:12):
different than parcels radically different than Belichick, but a way
that really works and works wherever he is.

Speaker 1 (18:19):
Finally, I said this, Nobody wants to be called an elitist,
but I'm a quarterback traits elitist. I like, I like big,
strong guys that move well. I've never been a small
quarterback guy outside of Drew Brees, so I'm an elitist.
I like a big arm. Dak doesn't have it. I
like durability. Dak's had two surgeries. I like bigger physical

(18:39):
athletes manning big band, braidy well. Dak's normal size. But
I said, he reminds me of the kid that the
parents sometimes forget about because he's never a problem, he
gets good grades. The baby said, he's never in trouble,
he never pulls the fire alarm in high school. And
in the end, you make him executor of the will

(18:59):
because he's the one kid. And those kids don't forget.
And those kids, by the way, they end up being
mentally tough because they get They get ignored a lot,
right like, because the parents are spending so much time
in the other kids. And I look at Dak, and
you got Jerry, and you had Dez, and you have Zeke,
and you got Mike and you got the Star. He's
on his third coach, second surgery. I watched him the

(19:20):
first two weeks. I've never seen him as good. I mean,
how do you view him?

Speaker 5 (19:27):
Yeah, that's a that's a perfect analogy. My youngest is
like that. He's on autopilot and you don't have to
worry about a thing with him. I totally agree with that.
And Dallas is it's year after year of drama and
dysfunction and and and everything that goes into sort of
Jerry's Jerry's world, But that's not part of that. And

(19:49):
I've been so impressed by Dak these first two games,
coming back from an injury and playing as well as
as he did in Philadelphia. And look, if Ceedee Lamb
doesn't drop three very catch balls, they're probably winning that game. Yes,
And you know, he's the highest paid player right now
in the league, and he actually looked like he deserved

(20:11):
that distinction over the last two games. And there's not
been many times where I could have said that about that.
But there seems to be a resolve and almost a
little chip and anger all all the things of saying
I'm tired of hearing how I'm not good enough, and
I'm not one of the top guys, and I'm going

(20:33):
to show you that I am. And through two games,
he's made a really strong argument.

Speaker 1 (20:38):
I mean, for him in that game against the Giants
in overtime off surgery to peel off a huge run
and I was like, it's impressive. All these years, all
these surgery Giants, d line is good. He takes off
to the races that maybe it's not Lamar Jackson or Josh,
but I was like, that's an impressive play in that
moment to trust yourself, put yourself off out there, Eric

(21:01):
Mangini as owas by the way, your kids are going
to hear about this, So the one kids were going
to like what you said.

Speaker 5 (21:09):
Well, I think all three boys know that he's like that,
so there won't be a shock.

Speaker 1 (21:15):
All right, great seniors, O's coach, Great scene you too, Gon. Yeah,
I mean, let's be totally honest about this. That Thursday
night game with Dallas and Philly, if Cede Lamb doesn't
drop just the one deep ball, they probably win. Forget three.
I'll give you a draw. I'll give every receiver drop
every game, even an easy one. That was the play,
and that was a perfect throw by Deck and CD,

(21:38):
who was amazing. The following week, I bet the over
catches and we hit that. He just he dropped the touchdown.
He didn't do that very often.

Speaker 1 (22:30):
I had to tell you, I read all these columns
about you know, the Bears don't play in Kayla. It
is the defense. Why does the Chiefs defense not look
as dominating in the second half this year because they
have no run game and defensive players get tired in

(22:52):
the second half. That's why Justin Herbert eats it alive
and the Eagles win the second half. Why is the
Steelers defense It's suddenly so awful, especially in the second half,
because they can't run the football. They can't sustain drives.
You're complaining about the Bears defense. Have you seen the

(23:14):
numbers on Caleb Williams After the first drive, it's three
and out. The defense is exhausted in the twenty drives,
not of the first two drives of the game. It's
completely fifty six percent of his throws. He holds them
all alonger than any quarterback. They're absolutely atrocious on third

(23:35):
and fourth down. That's why the Steelers defense is bad
in the second half. There's no run game yet. The
Seahawks defense in the second half, so again, San Francisco
and Pittsburgh are great. Why they sustain drives. They can
run the football. So you can talk about the defense
all you want if you can't pick up consistent third downs.

(23:56):
I mean, Miami last night stayed close because they can't
pick up third downs. Miami kept their defense off the field.
Their time of possession was good, so the defense made
some plays. So if you wonder why defenses get bad
and fall apart in the second half, it's because they're
on the field for the fifty sixth snap, fifty seven,

(24:17):
fifty eight, fifty nine, sixty. It's harder to play defense,
so the problems come for the inn It because in Chicago,
the inability to keep the ball time of possession long drives.
That's the key to defenses. It's very hard to historically
find a great defense. You can go back to the
Steelers great defenses in the seventies. Yeah, they had a

(24:39):
great o line, Frank o'harris, Rocky Blyer. You know that
defense sat on the sidelines in the first half and
watched the Steelers in Bradshaw score a lot of points.
And then in the second half with the lead, knowing
the other team had to throw, you had a fresh
defense in the second half, right Greenwood, Joe Green, Dwight White,

(25:03):
great safeties, Jack Ham, Yeah, Lambert. Why because teams had
to throw because the Steelers led and the defense was
pretty arrested. Go look at your great defense. Almost always
there is a running game component. I mean Tom Brady's
best defenses. Tom was completing third downs. So if the

(25:25):
Bears and Calebs are scoring thirty three points a game,
it's remarkable how good their defense will look so oh
my god defense, because their defense is watching their offense
have eight, nine, ten, eleven play drives. It's hard to
be a great defense when you're tired. Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (25:47):
No, no, no, turn on the news.

Speaker 3 (25:50):
This is the herd Line News. All right, let's start
calling with the game. The major blazon five Lions Ravens.
You talked a lot about Lamar's dominance, but Detroit's actually
been able to somewhat slow down to mobile quarterbacks and
Jordan Love and Caleb Williams. They didn't beat Jordan Love,
but he didn't beat them with their legs. Obviously, Lamar

(26:11):
is a different beast. Here's Dan Campbell on prepping for
the two time MVP.

Speaker 7 (26:16):
We're gonna have to be on point again. It'll be
but I but I go back to this too.

Speaker 1 (26:20):
Man.

Speaker 7 (26:20):
You can't paralyze your guys either like you know, you can't.
You can't pull back so far on them that they
lose you know what makes them great players, you know,
or like a guy like hutch Man. You just gotta
be careful. So, yes, we have to be disciplined. Somebody's
gonna have to cover for you. If you got a
two way go and then man, don't leave your feet.

(26:41):
That's always don't leave your feet. You just keep moving
with a base until you get reinforcements and let's just
close it in on him. But that's that will certainly
be a big point emphasis.

Speaker 1 (26:52):
I think they're in trouble. I think NFC teams facing
Lamar when you don't get a regular diet of him.
He's a lot those first seven, eight nine. So I
think Baltimore is going to get out to a lead
and then a golf's going to be playing catch up,
meaning it will negate the running game. He'll have to throw,
and I like Baltimore to pull away.

Speaker 4 (27:11):
Yeah.

Speaker 3 (27:12):
Still no word on what's going on with Taylor Decker,
their offensive lineman.

Speaker 4 (27:17):
That could be huge.

Speaker 3 (27:18):
But I would circle Brian Branch in the Detroit secondary.
He's an excellent young safety out of Alabama plastick. I
wonder if they try to use him in some kind
of Kyle Hamilton role where he's more in the box
to contain Lamar. He's not as big as Kyle Hamilton,
but they don't. Their linebackers are not super fast. They're
more beefy, and that doesn't bode well for it from

(27:39):
my point of view.

Speaker 1 (27:40):
Yeah, I know. I think the two things I thought
they had to work on this offseason in the draft
was the interior line and the speed of their linebackers. Well,
they definitely addressed the offensive line, but I still think
Detroit's liability defensively is they're not great in space with
their linebackers.

Speaker 3 (27:54):
All right, let's move on to the Green Bay Packers.
Can't stop talking about those guys number one in the
heard hierarchy two and oh with wins oe for playoff
teams from last year, health is an issue. Colin Let's
tackle Rashid Walker believes they can run the table despite
these injuries.

Speaker 8 (28:12):
Hell, we've been playing pretty clean, as it's saying, amount
of fact, we've been playing pretty clean. But as far
as the offense, I feel like old line has been
doing good. Jordan husband playing phenomenally, and I mean we
all have just been playing to sing execute and that's
why we well, two and oh right now.

Speaker 2 (28:30):
And then the goal is, you know, keep it going.
But I think we can go undefeate it.

Speaker 3 (28:35):
Honestly, Yo, two and O brow settle down. Here's a
weird thing. They're gonna be favored in.

Speaker 4 (28:43):
All these games.

Speaker 3 (28:43):
Come maybe they're They're gonna be favored, certainly against Dallas.
Next week, they're gonna be favored against the Joe Burrow
lest Bengals. They're gonna be favored at Kyler Murray. Like again,
where are they going to be dogs here?

Speaker 2 (28:56):
Maybe?

Speaker 3 (28:57):
Uh, not even Philadelphia since you're at home. Yeah, I
don't know if they go, oh maybe Baltimore.

Speaker 4 (29:03):
We'll see.

Speaker 1 (29:03):
But they remind me of the early Mahomes Chiefs teams
where they can play from behind. They can play with
the league. A lot of teams are not built. Philadelphia
is not built to me to play from behind with
their power offense. And then there are certain teams that
I think are really fun. I mean, is Dallas built
to play with a lead? Can they just shut it
down and run twelve straight times? I don't know if

(29:25):
Dallas can, but they can play from behind with Dak
and Pickens and Ceedee Lamb and I you know, I
with the Packers, they could be down ten points four
minutes left if they had the ball. They're built for that,
and they're also built to slow it down, power run it.
I don't know. There's nothing about this team so far

(29:46):
I don't like. I like everything they do, so I.

Speaker 4 (29:49):
Would keep an eye on.

Speaker 3 (29:50):
So this guy Walker ran his mouth right, he's their
left tackle, you know who he's facing of the Browns
this weekend.

Speaker 1 (29:55):
Mile scared.

Speaker 4 (29:56):
Yeah, that's not great.

Speaker 3 (29:58):
And the guy next to Walker is a replacement the
kid Banks he used to be with the Niners because
they got the interior injuries. Banks is not good. I
would not be shocked if the Browns were frisky here.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Packers spent a lot of money of thanks a lot.

Speaker 3 (30:12):
And also, by the way, the injuries, No, it doesn't
look like Christian Watson obviously Jaden Reid. So Matthew Golden,
the young kid out of Texas, should get more looks
this week. Wicks and Dobbs also with him.

Speaker 4 (30:24):
We'll see undefeated is just a.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
Little goofy, you know, don't see it's your two and
oh if you're eight and O you want to talk
about that maybe. But anyways, final story, Colin, Let's go
to this guy named Aaron Rodgers, Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback. With
all the injuries to quarterbacks around the league, one NFL
reporter believes Rogers is already second guessing his decision to

(30:47):
sign with Pittsburgh and is waiting instead of waiting for
the right opening. There was chatter, remember he wanted Minnesota
because he was waiting out the JJ McCarthy situation. I
wonder if he is looking at that Pittsburgh defense and saying,
she's man, I didn't sign up to this craft.

Speaker 1 (31:05):
They can't, sus. So you and I talked about this.
This was one of our leading NFL stories in like
late July and August, which is what Aaron got frustrated
with in New York. A defensive culture, couldn't consistently run
the game, spotty pass protection, and basically one big time

(31:27):
receiver he trusted. That's the Steelers. He signed for a glossier,
cooler version of the Jets. The difference is Sala got
run out. Aaron didn't think that would happen, and Tomlin won't.
They are the Jets and forty one year old quarterbacks.
When Tom Brady chose Tampa, Tom smart, what did he say?

(31:52):
He brought Dronk with him for pass blocking, He got
assurances they would fix the right tackle and he went
to a team with a lot of dependable ways. Tom
knew what he was doing. Okay, So Aaron chose the Jets,
which is so strange. He's a West Coast guy, he's older.
He chose a team that hasn't consistently passed blocked for

(32:13):
seven years and hasn't run under Tomlin for six to seven.
So this is just the Jets with cooler uniforms. Well,
it's the same, you know recipe.

Speaker 3 (32:24):
So remember Brady went to Tampa and not only did
he pull Grunk out of retirement, but he got Antonio
Brown like living in his basement, and he got Leonard
Fournette to come with. So he had his guys in
New York. Aaron Rodgers got everything. Remember he got the OC.
I've already forgotten that guy's name.

Speaker 1 (32:37):
Nathaniel Hackett.

Speaker 3 (32:39):
Hackett, I think he's delivering pizzas in New Jersey, but
come on, I mean, honestly. And then he gets Alan
Lazard and Randall Cobb. Hey, Aaron, friends come on down
and they stunk. Pittsburgh gave him none of that. Has
he got any of his guys. They drew a hard
line in the sand, and he's probably just unhappy, if
this NFL insider is to be believed.

Speaker 1 (32:57):
Don't look at which Stafford chose. Efford Shoe's offensive guy,
Sean mcdaigh a great left tackle, and Andrew Whitworth a
consistent run game.

Speaker 4 (33:08):
Cooper Cuff at the time was a stunt.

Speaker 1 (33:10):
So it's like Stafford and Brady figured it out, Like
we want an offensive coach. The O lines gotta be right.
This team's got to be able to run the ball,
and do I have weapons and an offensive sensibility. Aaron's like, Ah,
the Jets didn't work, Let's try it again. Like I
don't get that. I never understood the decision.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Aren't you excited for like maybe five more months of
Rogers because he's retiring this offseason. He's gonna be done
and then we're not talking about it next season. So
enjoy it. Rogers. You're missing the playoffs this year.

Speaker 1 (33:39):
Buddy, We'll see Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (33:45):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
herd Line News.

Speaker 1 (33:49):
Yeah, it's I've always said this about the news coverage.
People say it's too liberal, it's to this and that.
It's not just the coverage, it's the stories the media
it chooses to write or ignore. It's all story selection.
That's where I see so much bias in the NFL
for these quarterbacks as they get old. It's not necessarily

(34:12):
once you're there, you have to choose the right place.
That's what it's about. When you're an old quarterback, You've
got to choose the right place. Stafford chose smartly, Brady
offensive coach, weapons easy division chose wisely. I just don't
think Aaron did. I do not think. I do not

(34:34):
think this is a great fit for him. We'll see.

Speaker 2 (34:36):

Rutgers tonight eight eastern on Fox.

Speaker 1 (34:56):
You ever been to Iowa?

Speaker 4 (34:58):
That's a negative beautiful?

Speaker 3 (35:02):
What's so beautiful about Iowa?

Speaker 4 (35:03):
Oh?

Speaker 1 (35:04):
I mean listen to that. I mean, you know you
may want to.

Speaker 4 (35:07):
I've never been.

Speaker 3 (35:08):
I've never tell me what's some beautifl I mean you're
treating it like it's Rome or Paris or something.

Speaker 4 (35:12):
Come on, what's beautiful about Iowa? What am I missing?

Speaker 1 (35:15):
Lakes? I saw one of the more beautiful sunsets of
my life. Good tell the first of all wheat in
the right light can be beautiful.

Speaker 3 (35:26):
Come on, by the way, Uh, I do have some
friends who went to Iowa, so I'm not being negative
on it.

Speaker 4 (35:32):
I just have not been to Iowa.

Speaker 1 (35:34):
It's the Paris of the Midwest.

Speaker 4 (35:36):
Is that what they say?

Speaker 1 (35:37):
That's what I say. So sometimes you see something, you
see a stat or something, and you're like, WHOA, that
can't be true, right that that'll happen, Like even our
staff or something. They'll see a stat and they'd be like,
we gotta double check on that. That does is Google right?
Is Chad gpt? Are we sure it's right? Whereas it
is it's getting too much of its data from Reddit,

(35:59):
Like what's going on here? Most consecutive games with fewer
than thirty points? These are active current active streak. Andy
Reid and Mahomes are on the list. I mean, obviously
the Raiders, Bears, and Jags are way up there, but
Andy Reid and Mahomes are on that list. And I
was thinking about this so last year. We always knew this.

(36:23):
In baseball, when you have like back to back long
playoff runs, they say fatigue sets into your arms on
the pitching staff, so you may want to make some moves.
If you have these long, excessive playoff runs year after
year after year. Maybe the Dodgers are having that problem
this year. They've just asked so many biginnings out of
their pitchers. So Kansas City's going for a third straight
Super Bowl, right, And it's a lot of pressure, and

(36:46):
it's a lot of fatigue, and it's a lot of intensity,
and it's a lot of drama. Is this the natural
progression this year? The team just it's tired. They don't
have the juice. Remember when the Patriots were going for
they wanted to be undefeated. Remember that year they lost
to the Giants in the Super Bowl, But there was
so much pressure. I remember at one point they was

(37:07):
at the Eagles or the Ravens they beat, and everybody
was talking about officiating and it wasn't fair, and the
league wants them to be undefeated. And it was just
every game after Thanksgiving felt like so much pressure for
New England and you've got to beat the Giants and
there's so much pressure. And they got to the Super
Bowl and they were kind of flat and they didn't

(37:27):
win a playoff game. That Patriot team, that stacked Patriot
team did not win a playoff game for three seasons
after that. A lot of pressure and a lot of fatigue.
That's the downside. The history is that you put all
the chips in. Sometimes you're playing hurt, you make moves.

(37:48):
I mean in the NFL, it's understood if you win
back to back Super Bowls or three, you're the greatest team,
arguably the greatest dynasty ever. You are willing to get
up chunks of your life to do that. And I
when I watch Kansas City this year, it is yeah,
they sometimes to me they lack a little juice. On

(38:10):
both sides. You get more famous, everybody gets paid. There's distractions,
there's fatigue, there's distractions. I don't know, they don't have
a ton of juice. I think they'll beat the Giants
this weekend. But I mean it's one of those numbers
that you look at and you're like, this can't be true.
Most consecutive games with fewer than thirty points. Saints or tie, Saints, Chiefs, Texans, Jags.

(38:38):
It's the class they're in. All right, Week three schedule,
we have a great reporter coming on last hour, Robert Maye.
You want to stick around for that. He's got all
sorts of thoughts on the Bears and the Cowboys, and
more so Week three schedule. I don't see a ton
of upsets on the schedule. I don't think the Rams

(38:59):
beating the Eagle rises to an upset. I don't understand
what the line is not just two and a half
to three. At three and a half, I am taking
the I am taking the Rams. I don't see a
lot of upsets now that Jaden Daniels is out. If
the Raiders beat Washington without Jaden Daniels, that doesn't rise

(39:19):
to an upset. Cowboys Bears is a one point spread,
so that Vegas is telling you if the Bears win,
that's not an upset. I don't think Arizona with all
their injuries on the road. I think they're bubble bursts.
I don't think Detroit and that wouldn't qualify as an upset.

(39:40):
Is there anything? I mean? Is there anything? You? We
have one every single weekend? J Mac? We have one
every single weekend. Where's the upset? You know?

Speaker 3 (39:49):
Two of them jump out? Tampa Bay is down. It
looks like four offensive linemen. They've said Wurfs will not play,
and they're coming off a short week. The Jet strength
is what Colin did defensive front. There's a world I
know it's Tyrod Taylor in for Justin fields, but there's
a world where the Jets keep that close and interesting
and Baker doesn't pull one out of you know where

(40:09):
to end the game like he has in the first
two weeks. I would keep an eye on the Jets.
The other one is it's fishy and it's funny. During
the commercial break, I said to you, what's up with
the Chargers? Why are they only favored by two and
a half against Denver. By the way, if the Chargers
win this, they're three to zero in the division to
start the season. That's huge because obviously Kansas City's reeling.
Denver would start one and two Casey, you know, would

(40:32):
definitely be behind the eight ball Chargers. I think this
is going to get to three and I maybe going
to this Chargers game on Sunday.

Speaker 1 (40:39):
This could be a big game of the weekend. It
could be the game of the weekend. Two great coaches,
two capable quarterbacks.

Speaker 3 (40:46):
Just for the record, last year, Chargers dominated them in
the first game in Denver, it was bo Nick's early
second one was something of a shootout and the Chargers
took over in the second half.

Speaker 4 (40:56):
I think they're just really good, man. I think they
could be in the AFC Championship.

Speaker 1 (41:02):
That yes, yes, I mean Kansas City's pulled back. Burrows
now out of it. I don't think you're Houston's not
what we thought. And by the way, Ravens bills both
those defenses back end full sessions. Yeah, sus mid
