You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:27):
Oh, here we go our two and a Tuesday. The
Herd Hierarchy and Nick Wright could be a bubbling, simmering controversy.
With the Lakers going on right now, things are getting very,
very interesting. I gotta tell you the I hope LA

(00:47):
sports fans. The Dodgers just signed Edwin Diaz, the Lakers
are red hot, Harbaugh, and the Chargers and Herbert are
nine and four. Rams could be the best team in football.
And USC just signed the number one recruiting class. I
hope LA sports fans realize. I mean, the Clippers are
you know, shocking a circus, but most of their you know,

(01:11):
franchise history is littered with nonsense. But I'm just cities
go in cycles.

Speaker 2 (01:18):
Man.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
LA is hot.

Speaker 1 (01:20):
Let's stop waste any time. Let's get to our Herd
hierarchy right now.

Speaker 2 (01:30):
Heard hierarchy. Now go the top ten NFL teams according
to College Number ten.

Speaker 1 (01:36):
Well, listen, the Bills are flawed, but they have won
twelve straight home games in December and January, and Josh
Allen has a career high completion percentage and yards for
attempt this season. I still think they're asking too much
of them, which is why they've had twelve giveaways in
five games. They're not a clean team. They can get sloppy.
They're bad against the run, although they've been a little

(01:58):
better in the last couple of weeks. I think the
reality is they'll go as far as Josh Allen can
take them. I don't trust them situationally. They were fumbling
near the goal line this week. I think right now
the best quarterback in the world, not the most decorated,
but the best is Josh Allen. But there's too many
questions for me. They sneak in at number ten.

Speaker 2 (02:18):
Number nine.

Speaker 1 (02:20):
The Chargers are now five and zero in prime time
this season. They're a big stage team at least in
the regular season. Thirteen and four under Jim Harbaugh in
the second half of seasons. That's best in the NFL.
Remarkable with all their injuries the offensive line's atrocious, all
beat up. The running game depends on who's healthy. But

(02:42):
they have a great pass defense, best in the league
since Week eight. Between the head coach and the star
coordinator and Herbert, they're in every single game. I have
the Chargers at nine, number eight. I can't even figure
the Niners out. How in the world do they have
the number one scoring defense since Week eleven? Robert sala

(03:03):
I don't like their defensive personnel. I'm mid on brock party,
but they've got five wins of ten plus or more
points since Week seven. That's tied for the NFL lead.
They don't get penalized. They've got two easy games coming up,
just had the bye San Francisco. Yes, they're two Christian

(03:23):
McCaffrey dependent, but Kittle and Jennings and Piersoll, they're getting healthier.
I'll put them at eight.

Speaker 2 (03:30):
Number seven.

Speaker 1 (03:31):
Texans have the best defense in the league, five game
winning streak, eight of ten. Their offense can worry me.
I do like CJ.

Speaker 3 (03:38):
Stroud.

Speaker 1 (03:39):
They have played the fourth hardest schedule in the league,
so they are battle tested. Number one scoring defense. I'll
tell you there's a couple of young defensive coaches in
this league that are really sharp. Demico Ryans and I
told you I had somebody inside the Niners tell me
years ago Demiko Ryans was going to be a star

(04:00):
as head coach. That Houston defense is no fun to play.
I've got him at seven, number six. I'm gonna give
it to the Bears. They lead the NFL in turnover differential.
They run the football, they can win time of possession.
People bang on Caleb Williams completing fifty eight percent of

(04:20):
his throws, but he is so electric and dynamic.

Speaker 3 (04:23):
I can live with that.

Speaker 1 (04:24):
I think their biggest issue they give up six point
one yards of play. That's near the bottom of the NFL.
That's what worries me. It's not Caleb's lack of accuracy.
I think he got to live with that because he's
so dynamic. They've got to shore up their defense. On
the average play number five Seattle.

Speaker 3 (04:46):
Maybe I have.

Speaker 1 (04:47):
Them low, but there's a slew of teams above him,
and there's reasons why they can be reckless. They're a
run first team, they're aggressive sometimes a little you know, penalties, youth.
I don't think they're a super Bowl team yet. I
think like the Packers who were young. It'll take another year.

(05:08):
I think Green Bay is ready this year. They weren't
last year. They have, you know, tied for the fewest
sacks allowed. Some of that's just Darnold's good on his feet.
But I have Seattle at five, number four, but I
think the Broncos roster is a little more experienced, and
I get offensive coach Sean Payton first game though this
year they have not trailed. Listen, here's what's really impresses.

(05:32):
Tied for the most sacks and then the fewest allowed.
You can't get to their quarterback. They always get to yours.
That's gonna serve them well in the playoffs. Offensive line,
Sean Payton's got a number one after a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (05:46):
I love their roster. I really like their roster.

Speaker 1 (05:50):
I wish their quarterback wasn't this uneven, but I have
them a nick ahead of Seattle number three.

Speaker 3 (05:56):
Green Bay.

Speaker 1 (05:57):
I may have them low, best third down offense, tied
for the fewest giveaways. They're a very smart, clean young team.
I thought last year they were a bit too young.
I love that Christian Watson is healthy because Jordan love
like a Sam Darnold loves to throw the deep ball
and throws a brilliant deep ball. I also think the

(06:19):
Mica trade was brilliant.

Speaker 3 (06:22):
Not all was bad for Dallas.

Speaker 1 (06:24):
But it was brilliant because they're gonna lead a lot
of games late and he's the closer.

Speaker 3 (06:27):
I have Green Bay at three.

Speaker 2 (06:30):
Number two.

Speaker 1 (06:31):
Patriots were idle. I have them at two ten to zero,
and Christian Gonzales plays their elite corner ten game winning streak.

Speaker 3 (06:39):
Are they a bit young? Is Drake may ready listen?

Speaker 1 (06:42):
They have played the easiest schedule in the NFL.

Speaker 3 (06:46):
That needs to be noted. Houston could be better.

Speaker 1 (06:49):
Houston's played the fourth hardest schedule, so I think they're
a little harder to judge team. We know the coach
is good in the quarterback is good. But I have
them at two. On the Rams boy was Devonte Adams
of steal leads the NFL with fourteen touchdowns. Puka Nikua,
by the way, averaging the most receiving yards per game

(07:11):
in NFL history. Ninety one tight ends, quarterback, head coach,
running back, o line. They have no weakness offensively other
than Stafford's immobility. The defense is young and outstanding. This
feels like the most complete team in the league. And
you may have noticed I do not have Philadelphia in.

Speaker 3 (07:36):
I'm sorry.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
I think their coach is coordinator dependent, and their quarterback
in Philadelphia is an if quarterback, he's circumstantial. If the
O line is healthy, if the defense is great, if
Saquan's having a great year, I have Philadelphia at eleven.
And with that, Nick Wright joining us on a Tuesday.
First things first, All right, Eagles not in. I'm not

(08:00):
judging rosters. I'm judging how are you today. I don't
love Buffalo. They should have lost, and I don't like
what I see from Philadelphia.

Speaker 3 (08:08):
Any major complaints.

Speaker 4 (08:10):
Well, I agree with you on Philadelphia. I disagree with
you on Buffalo. Let's start with Philly.

Speaker 5 (08:17):
Yet.

Speaker 4 (08:17):
You can't be the quarterback who might be limited but
always wins and never turns the ball over and then
have a three game losing streak because you keep turning
the ball over Like that doesn't work. Other quarterbacks can
get away with some rough moments because their high moments

(08:38):
are what carries you that hasn't been jailing. And I
am really concerned about the Eagles, and I've been saying
this all year when the last half of the year
when there seems like once again there is some real
uneasiness within the locker room about the offense that for

(09:00):
different reasons but a very similar timeline. This reminds me
a lot as a player, and seemingly as relationship with
his teammates of Russell Wilson in Seattle Little they both
went to two Super Bowls. They Russ won the first,
lost the second. Jalen did it in the reverse order.
They're both excellent deep ball throwers and efficient short throwers,

(09:25):
struggling the intermediate stuff, dynamic with their legs when they
want to be, yet didn't seemingly get all the credit
for the championship.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
And also there seems to be a.

Speaker 4 (09:38):
Real disconnect between the player, the quarterback and the rest
of the locker room that came to a head in Seattle,
and I think it's coming to a head in Philadelphia.
And that interception last night, Colin, not that one or
this one or the next one, the other one, the
last one. You can't make this mistake on first in

(10:01):
ten and overtime, you just can't. And so yeah, and
I don't I know what his record is and it's unbelievable,
and Jalen to his credit, is a great, big game quarterback.
Great we've seen him play excellent in two Super Bowls.
But I also know what Sirianni's record is, and it's
alongside John Madden for the best winning percentage for a

(10:23):
coach start of his career. I don't trust Sirianni to
get it right, and I don't think an inflatable bunny
in the.

Speaker 5 (10:30):
Locker room fixes it.

Speaker 4 (10:32):
Yeah, And if I sound a little extra harsh, sorry
to keep ranting. It's because misery loves company, Colin. And
if the Chiefs are going down, we're pulling a lot
of teams with us.

Speaker 1 (10:44):
Well, yesterday we were all concerned at Fox Sports when
I turned on your show and I saw a stretcher
come out. Now, you did have a pack of smoke,
so that let me know you were still breathing.

Speaker 3 (10:55):
But there was a lot of concern here.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
Explain you were so concerned.

Speaker 5 (11:01):
Yeah, that's why you checked in on me. You're so worried.

Speaker 4 (11:04):
You were laughing, making fun of me, you and j
Mack going over what should have been your freezing cold
off season takes and instead reveling and them.

Speaker 1 (11:13):
Yeah, go ahead, I said yesterday, is it a reboot
or a subtle re build. This may not just be
a tweak and they can do it. By the way,
you could see what Mike Vrabel did. It's and you
have Mahomes and Andy Reid. I gotta when I watched
Seattle and the Rams, and when I watched the Texans
and I see the athleticism and the speed and the youth.

(11:36):
Are the Chiefs that rebuild this point?

Speaker 4 (11:39):
Well, no, You're never rebuild if you have one of
the greatest quarterbacks ever you know, in his prime. But
they listen, this isn't a fluke.

Speaker 5 (11:48):
Just like last year.

Speaker 4 (11:50):
I was adamant that that team was a great team
and everyone's like, but the margin of victory in the
close wins. Winning in the NFL is a skill. Like
a great tennis player understands there's like four or five
points in the match that actually matter. I'm gonna win those.
The Chiefs last year understood that, and this year they

(12:14):
have been the opposite. At the highest leverage moments of
these games, they've been at their worst.

Speaker 5 (12:20):
And it started.

Speaker 4 (12:21):
I can chapter and verse it just quickly for you.
Con then I'll talk to the rebuild. Week one, third
and fifteen, fourth quarter against Justin Herbert, get off the
field and you can win the game. Chris Jones doesn't
keep contained Week two, about to take the lead against
Philadelphia despite being outplayed. Kelsey lets it go off his

(12:42):
hands against the Jaguars. You're about to put that game away.
Mahomes doesn't see the d Linemen lurking pick six against
the Broncos fourth quarter lead.

Speaker 5 (12:54):
Bo Nicks in a third and long you let them
pick it up.

Speaker 4 (12:58):
And then a comedy of air on Sunday night from
Andy's decision to go for it when the Texans Dophins
was dead to Travis once again mishandling a pass, Patrick
having some unchara uncharacteristic mistakes. This team deserves to be
six and seven, There is no denying it. But what
I would tell you is this, and it's the similarities

(13:22):
are stunning in this regard Brady, who Mahomes is always
compared to. Brady in year seven played in a Super
Bowl to win his fourth Super Bowl and be cemented
as the greatest team ever. They lost, and then over
the next three years Colin the Patriots won zero playoff

(13:44):
games and got blown out in the playoffs, including a
loss to Mark Sanchez at home zero playoff wins over
three years. Patrick Mahomes in his seventh year as a starter,
played in the Super Bowl to win his fourth Super
Bowl and be the greatest team ever. They lost, and
right now they look like they're going to miss the playoffs. Now,
I don't think they're going to go two more years

(14:05):
without a playoff win. But it does EBB and flow,
and so the Chiefs right now, for the first time
in the Mahomes era, are not a great team, and
they have to reckon with that and figure out what
needs to be done in the offseason too.

Speaker 5 (14:20):
Correct it.

Speaker 3 (14:21):
Listen.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
I've said this before. It's one thing if you're a
millionaire and you're a trust fund kid. It's another if
you grew up in chaos and you're a millionaire. They're
not all even I said earlier. Some quarterbacks are hot
air balloons. They're weather dependent. Jalen Hurts summer fighter pilots.
Just give me the coordinates, all land the plane. Herbert

(14:44):
has an atrocious soul line. They've been on a third
string running back. They're in a division with the rating
Super Bowl dynasty and Sean Payton, the Denver's pass rush elite.
And here's Herbert nine to four. They shouldn't have won
the game broken hand, stiff army people. Listen, I know
he doesn't have the pelts, but even you last night

(15:05):
watching Herbert nine and four, weren't you a little impressed
with him?

Speaker 3 (15:10):
A little?

Speaker 5 (15:11):
Well?

Speaker 4 (15:11):
Well, listen, I I don't.

Speaker 5 (15:13):
I'm not anti Justin Herbert, first of all.

Speaker 4 (15:15):
Second of all last night is it's such an interest.

Speaker 5 (15:19):
This is here's my issue. Now.

Speaker 4 (15:21):
I know I'm talking to a guy, and I don't
know if we can put Colin back on the screen.
But who in all of a sudden new age Colin
Cowherd you said, I know he doesn't have the.

Speaker 5 (15:30):
Pelts on the wall.

Speaker 4 (15:31):
I don't think Colin Cowherd believes in walls or pelts
or anything.

Speaker 5 (15:35):
I heard yesterday.

Speaker 4 (15:37):
I heard you call Josh Allen the greatest player in
the history of the sport, A guy who's played your friend,
a friend of yours, a personal friend of yours, Tom Brady,
went to ten Super Bowls, johns Elsman, You're like johns
Ellen's the greatest player I've ever seen.

Speaker 5 (15:52):
So I listen. I know you're very new age. It's,
you know, the it factor.

Speaker 4 (15:57):
Here is what I find frustrating about out some of
the Herbert discourse. All right, So I think despite a
horrible stat line, he was really impressive yesterday, despite the
fact that half his yards came on a dump off
to Kamani Vydal. I thought his toughness, his running the circumstances,

(16:19):
that was impressive. But I feel like I'm allowed to
think that way because I was not also being like, hey,
I know they lost a game they had no business losing,
but did you see how many yards Justin Herbert threw
for and how pretty the throws were.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
The folks who for years.

Speaker 4 (16:40):
Have been the biggest Justin Herbert defenders that are like, yeah,
wins are in a quarterback stat what are you talking about?

Speaker 3 (16:48):
Clutch?

Speaker 4 (16:49):
Like, just watch him throw? Are gonna now with yesterday?
They'll be like, yeah, I understand he had a passer
rating of forty and threw a bunch of turnovers, But man,
the guy sure knows how to win, doesn't he, Like,
you got to pick the lane here, And so that
that's my frustration there. I also, you know what we're
staring at, Colin Herbert versus the Prince in the playoffs again,

(17:10):
We're we're right down the barrel of that gun, and
I'm excited to see it.

Speaker 1 (17:16):
I set about Shador Sanders is that I understood the
tebow delusion. He was winning, and there was the Christianity
connection with Chaduur. It's almost like the trend six and seven.
You can try to explain it to me. I don't
get it. He's not winning. He seems like a nice

(17:38):
enough kid. I the conspiratorial feel, the conspiracy theory stuff.
Dylan Gabriel set a college record with stars. He was
more ready to play early, but Shadur's more talented.

Speaker 3 (17:49):
That's it? Or am I missing something?

Speaker 1 (17:52):
This this belief they're trying to bury Shadure. I don't
culturally get it. What I got tebow shitter is much
better than t bow. I don't get the animosity towards Stefanski.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
What am I missing?

Speaker 5 (18:06):
Well?

Speaker 4 (18:07):
I mean, I listen, I don't. I have said this
now for a couple of days. Don't assign to malice
what can be explained to stupidity, like the I don't
think it takes a conspiracy to get to where we've
gotten with the Browns handling of the quarterback position. I
just think I think the simpler answer is Kevin Stefanski

(18:31):
might make some really poor decisions, and the two point
conversion was a poor decision. Whenever you make a play
call that is so bad and goes so poorly that
people's only explanation is you must be intentionally sabotaging your team,

(18:52):
it means that's probably one you would like back, and
it does listen. I don't buy the conspiracy piece of it.
I do think it's I know this will shock people.
I think it's possible that the Browns organizationally make a
lot of poor decisions, not the most buttoned up, don't
have the quarterback thing figured out. And I also think

(19:15):
that the game we saw Shador play on Sunday, I
don't think Dylan Gabriel is capable of playing at that level. Now,
Shador will make some mistakes Gabriel might not make, but
at least there are some big plays, and so it
was wholly a lot the only here's my problem with
my biggest problem with Stefanski's two point conversion decision. The

(19:39):
only way this silly conspiracy stuff continues after that game
is by that decision. If you simply call a regular
handoff or let shod or throw the way, if you
do literally anything else for at least a week, the
noise around your team dies down because where's the starter

(20:01):
he played well, win or lose. Instead, you do a
wildcat reverse pass that looked like the worst play in
the NFL this season that Max Brosmer wasn't involved in,
and I don't understand it.

Speaker 1 (20:14):
So I'm a college football die hard. I thought Miami
deserved to be an over Notre Dame. I think Notre
I said this earlier. You know, Notre Dame won't commit
put a ring on it.

Speaker 3 (20:25):
They won't.

Speaker 1 (20:26):
ACC's asked him to marry him three times and they're like,
we're not quite ready. Well, so the ACC backed twenty
one year member Miami, who was more deserving anyway, and
said we got Miami's back. And now now Notre Dame's like,
you know, feels like we're on an island out here.
Yet you're independent. Still, you've been in an island of

(20:47):
your choosing. That's so I think that I think they
mostly got it right. I was very happy Miami got
inn over Notre Dame. You have acknowledged that you're not
a huge college football fan, but I like that because
you tend to embrace the bigger mac topics. What do
you make of the playoff announcement?

Speaker 4 (21:03):
So I think you're gonna love this, Colin. So I,
first of all, I agree with you. Miami over Notre
Dame was very simple. They have the same record, they
played each other, Miami one. Like you can say, that's
caveman stuff, like, I don't know. I think the game
should matter, yeah, but I don't actually care about that
piece of it. Because here is my argument, and leave
the bracket up and seev agree with me. I wanted

(21:24):
the playoff expanded from four to twelve for seasons exactly
like this one, where there is one team Indiana that
in any system ever was going to get in, and
then four to six teams that all had a legitimate
claim to be in the top four. Because without the

(21:47):
new playoff system, what do you do about Georgia, Ohio
State Tech, Oregon, Ole, miss A, and m They all
have one loss, they all have an argument. So that
for me, the entire purpose of the playoff is to
make sure A and M on up. If you will,
A and M, Oregon, Ole, miss and in the top

(22:09):
four teams have a chance to compete for a national championship.
After that I simply don't care. And you're lucky you
got included. Like everyone who is not a no doubt
inclusion doesn't get to complain. The playoff was not created
to make sure the tenth best team in the nation
can have a chance to win the national championship. The playoff,

(22:32):
for me, was created to make sure a team that
actually might be the third best team in the country
doesn't get left out because their fifth ranked Oregon. That's
what so I think they got it right. First of all,
I actually might have considered Notre Dame over Alabama, but
forget that. But everyone after A and M is on

(22:55):
a free pass. You lost twice, you gave the committee
a reason to lead you out.

Speaker 5 (23:00):
You're lucky you got in. Everyone for me and M up.

Speaker 4 (23:04):
Is why the playoff was created, and I'm happy about it.

Speaker 3 (23:07):
Yeah, you know, I think it's a good take.

Speaker 1 (23:09):
And I also always had my country club theory is
that you think the more you expand the country club
from thirty members to sixty, everybody will be happy. But
what happens is you weren't allowed in, and then your
neighbor gets in as the sixtieth person. You're like, I
make more than him. I'm a nicer guy than him.

(23:31):
I've lived in the community longer, I'm a better golfer.
The more you expand the playoff, the surlier the arguments get.
If it was two teams, you'd be like, well, Indiana
and then you have one argument, Ohio State or Georgia.
So I think what happens is when we expand playoffs,
we think it's going to dim and lessen the arguments.

(23:52):
The more you end the country club, the more people go, well,
my neighbor got in, get in it.

Speaker 5 (24:00):
And the argument.

Speaker 4 (24:01):
But what I like about it is it makes the
argument less have less gravity, because if it was still
four teams, there is a really like Texas Tech versus
Oregon is a really really hard call.

Speaker 5 (24:17):
Yes and Ole miss in A and M.

Speaker 4 (24:19):
While I think they're a cut beneath Tech and Oregon
would feel like, wait a minute, why aren't we included?
And so expanding it the way they have I think
is really smart. I would not expand it any further.
And I also do like the fact that Duke didn't
get in just because they won their conference championship, Like,

(24:42):
if we're going to put a team in that has
no shot of winning the whole thing having it be
a one loss James Madison as opposed to a five loss.

Speaker 5 (24:52):
Duke, I like that a lot.

Speaker 3 (24:54):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
By the way, because of hippolaws, we can't tell you
what was wrong with Nick Right yesterday, but the video
is so dramatic. Let's show it again, broken heart, Colin,
that's what's wrong, broken heart. And I'll tell you one
other thing because I might have to hit you off
the air for you know, a bridge loan. It's also
I'm gonna send this video to all my creditors after

(25:17):
this football season because I'm being reminded that all my
preseason futures bets I tied, and the Chiefs making the
playoffs to them to get a little extra juice.

Speaker 5 (25:29):
And now all all that's.

Speaker 4 (25:30):
Come and do on me, buddy, I'm a I'm in
a rough way. I'm in a rough rough way.

Speaker 1 (25:34):
My friend, well, Sam Darnold can still win a Super Bowl,
so A'll be the medic that saves your life.

Speaker 3 (25:40):
That's all, well, thank god.

Speaker 4 (25:41):
I appreciate it, buddy, But more than that, I just
need some money.

Speaker 3 (25:45):
Talk to you later, Colin.

Speaker 1 (25:46):
All right, Nick Wright, First things first, very funny show yesterday. Yeah,
the you know, you expand the playoffs to me and
everybody says, Okay, that'll solve it. No, it just opens
up more arguments. I think we had an amazing college
football season. I loved it. I thought the committee mostly
got it right, and if you want to expand it,
I'm fine with that.

Speaker 3 (26:05):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (26:06):
I think the one thing I'll say is everybody kept
telling me blowing up the Pac twelve would ruin college football. Didn't,
Nil would ruin college football?

Speaker 5 (26:16):
Didn't.

Speaker 1 (26:17):
Transfer portal was bad for college football, isn't. They're not perfect.
I mean the transfer portal feels sometimes moving a little
fast for my taste. But coaches are moving all over
the place. They're Lane Kiffin's leave it in the middle
of the night. So if players leave, they leave good stuff.

Are you doing that Laker controversy? Why are you teasing
the good stuff?

Speaker 5 (27:25):
Bro?

Speaker 3 (27:26):
Say much?

Speaker 1 (27:27):
Have you seen the NFL schedule next week? Oh my
wait next week or this week?

Speaker 3 (27:32):
The coming up this week? This week has five double
digit favorites.

Speaker 1 (27:35):
I think Rams Lions. Okay, well that again, it's like
Fox is on a heater. That one is a great game.
Do we have the rating in for Green Bay Chicago
this weekend?

Speaker 3 (27:47):
Seventy five min nine. I'm telling you that thing was gripping.

Speaker 1 (27:51):
It was everything traditional rivals, cold Weather close.

Speaker 6 (27:56):
Game that that or the World Cup bracket reveal and
the pools.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
That was fun. We liked that. I was great. J
Mackle the news, Turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (28:09):
This is the herd line of horse.

Speaker 6 (28:12):
We got some breaking news out of Andy Collin yesterday.
We talked about Philip Rivers. Maybe going to the Colts. Well,
it's official. He's been signed to the practice squad. Yes,
forty four year old Philip Rivers. He's a grandfather.

Speaker 3 (28:22):
Did you know this?

Speaker 1 (28:23):
Forty four years old grandfather? He played old when he
was thirty six.

Speaker 3 (28:27):
Bro, so he's older.

Speaker 6 (28:29):
According to the staff, he's older than the head coach,
Shane Psyche. I don't even know what to make of this.
Now here's the reason why he signed. Ridley Leonard is
the number two.

Speaker 3 (28:38):
But he's hurt.

Speaker 6 (28:39):
Anthony Richardson's on IR. This is how crazy their season
has been. He was working with bands. I know, you
go to the gym and use those bands. It snapped
back and broke his orbital bone, like early in the season.

Speaker 3 (28:49):
He's out.

Speaker 6 (28:49):
I mean, I think it's dangerous to put Philip Rivers
on the field in Seattle. The line has ballooned to
thirteen and a half Colin. This is when I say dangerous.

Speaker 3 (28:58):
I'm not kidding. I joked on social media.

Speaker 6 (29:00):
This is like when Apollo Creed went to fight Ivan
Drago and Rocky four and literally got killed. I mean,
Philip Rivers hasn't played football in five years.

Speaker 1 (29:08):
Well, he's a he's big, thick, strong, smart, he like
he'll no, he can't move.

Speaker 6 (29:12):
You've seen you can talk about Dexter Lawrence in that
defensive front. Those guys are nasty. No, DeMarcus Marcus Lawd's
sorry you look at that. Honestly, the front seven of Seattle,
what they've done.

Speaker 3 (29:22):
To some galba. I want to read that.

Speaker 1 (29:24):
The staff just sent me this colin other quarterbacks who
had played at forty four, and I remember this George
Bland with the Raiders and athletes are in much better
shape now. Warren Moon Chiefs two thousand. Vinnie Testaverdi remember
that Tom Brady Buccaneers.

Speaker 6 (29:43):
Yeah, but the defenders now are bigger, faster and stronger.

Speaker 3 (29:47):
They're scary. I'm just telling you, man, this is not
a smart I'm surprised the line isn't like twenty.

Speaker 6 (29:53):
Well, remember Seahawks have the Rams next week on Thursday
Night football, so they're not going to give him max
effort to power down once this is twenty four to
six and then just coast.

Speaker 1 (30:02):
So I love Philip Rivers. I love that he's like,
saddle up, let's go.

Speaker 3 (30:09):
Troy.

Speaker 1 (30:09):
Troy Aigman told a Stroy a year he was retired
for like four or five years. People came after him
when he was retired.

Speaker 6 (30:13):
Well remember Frank Rag now the center of the Lion's
right to come back. And they're like, oh, you have
a torn hamstring, bro, you can't play football.

Speaker 1 (30:18):
No.

Speaker 6 (30:19):
I think I think this ten Rivers past the physical
is impressive.

Speaker 1 (30:21):
I bet you Matt Ryan's been called. He just retired
a couple of years.

Speaker 3 (30:26):
So he's like, he's in the booth with say.

Speaker 1 (30:28):
I guarantee if Matt Ryan got called by somebody, Philip Rivers.

Speaker 6 (30:31):
You're telling me there's no young guy you would feel.
I mean, Josh Doop sports he doing okay. Remember we're
good at NASA or so. Well, remember it is what
is at week fifteen. So there's just a lot of
beat up quarterbacks. Yeah, and you know, I've argued for
years the NFL needs to expand its roster to carry
another quarterback somewhere. This is a I love Philip so much,

(30:55):
but he played old in his late thirties. I mean
Brady felt. I mean I watched Brady on the broadcast.
You could never guess his age. I mean he looks
and feels young. This is uh, it's it's gonna make
me watch. So the Cults are fighting for their playoff lives.
The schedules tough, Colin. They're not getting in the playoffs.
It's over and that Sauce Gardner deal will look horrible.

(31:16):
He's out with the calf still. I mean, look at
the schedule. Where's a win here? Who are they beating?

Speaker 1 (31:21):
No, this schedule is bru I don't want to see
last month in the league.

Speaker 6 (31:27):
It's certainly up there. The Chargers have a tough one.
But this is like the Niners and Robert Sala. You
know that Jags have some edge rushers and the Texans
has shown against Patrick Mahones.

Speaker 3 (31:36):
You don't want to face them.

Speaker 6 (31:37):
All right, Let's move on to uh let's go to
another team on the West coast. That's the Rams. They
slaughtered the Cardinals really easy. Dub forty five seventeen.

Speaker 1 (31:46):
Kuka Nakua is having yeah and absolutely unbelieved. He and
Devonte Adams are the best one two in the league.
Jamar Chase Higgins two. Those two are both Pro bowlers.

Speaker 6 (31:57):
Yeah, for sure. Here's McVeigh on his team performance in
the blowout.

Speaker 7 (32:02):
I thought the guys did a great job. This is
this is a mentally tough group. This is a resilient group.
You know, you got to earn it. And and I
thought they had a great week of preparation. I thought
even just the maturity of even some of the stuff
where I wasn't around a little bit just because of
what I was dealing with. Just the way they handle it.
These are grown men, you know, and they do such
a great job of this is a player led team.

(32:23):
And and really I can't say enough about what are
a great job our coaches do.

Speaker 5 (32:26):
I don't mean that to be minimizing them.

Speaker 7 (32:28):
At all, but we got a lot of really great
leaders in that locker room.

Speaker 1 (32:32):
And they are healthy. Jason there usually this time of
the year you're banged up. The rams are hot, hungry, healthy,
and when that.

Speaker 6 (32:42):
Bull gets rolling with that offense, oh hair a machine.
I mean Kyrin Williams, Blake Korham, Blake Koram's playing now.
We thought last year now had didn't he break his
rent an injury, but the sh a couple of fumbles
too that they were like, Now Blake Korham is awrise,
he's nice.

Speaker 1 (32:55):
And now the Terrence ferguson the tight end out of Oregon,
like they don't miss them all.

Speaker 3 (33:00):
Draft picks either.

Speaker 6 (33:01):
You know, we don't like to fire coaches here, but
a lot of Arizona fans are like, yo, it's over Forgannon.

Speaker 3 (33:06):
I mean that was listless, terrible performance. Final story.

Speaker 6 (33:08):
This is the one you were teasing. Oh boy, I
don't love this. Colin rich Paul is Lebron's guy. They've
been tight forever. He's his agent. He went on a
podcast and said a lot of stuff. Now you know,
the conspiracy theorist will say he's a mouthpiece for Lebron here.
But you watch the video during the break, the Lakers, remember,
are seventeen and six second in the West.

Speaker 3 (33:29):
Behind Okase, that's true.

Speaker 6 (33:31):
Rich Paul was like, yeah, I don't really think we're contenders.

Speaker 3 (33:34):
Here we go.

Speaker 8 (33:36):
I personally don't think the Lakers are good enough to
be contenders right.

Speaker 3 (33:40):
Now, not right now.

Speaker 2 (33:40):
When you say contenders, what do you mean?

Speaker 8 (33:44):
I don't think they have enough to get to the
Western Conference. Fine, I don't think they have enough to
get to really contend. From that person, so as currently constructed,
you don't love the Lakers chances?

Speaker 3 (33:56):
No, now there.

Speaker 1 (33:58):
I totally agree. They're not good enough athletically on the wing.
They don't have a good offensive teams will eat them
alive in the playoffs.

Speaker 3 (34:07):
When you can play a team six seven times, you
know this. It's difference between going on a date.

Speaker 1 (34:12):
And being married, and when you're married, you argue about
stuff because you're around each other all the time. The
Lakers are a hard team to prepare for it because
they're so good offensively, Reddick Austin, Lebron Lucas the best
offensive player. So when they just come into town and
you get one prep film session, it's like they're a handful.
But if I play the Lakers over the course of

(34:32):
a series, and I can go, oh, they can't defend
the wing, and Lebron's going to give you at this
point maybe two really good games in a series and
three or four average games in a series. Luca, Okay,
you can pick on him defensively, they have no rim protector.
So this happens all the time. Remember those Houston Rocket
teams with Harden, You're like, they're amazing in the regular season.

(34:55):
Harden doesn't defend, So I think Chris Paul's you think
he's picking on who.

Speaker 6 (35:02):
So if you watch the full video, essentially Rich Paul
is being a mouth piece for Lebron and saying we
don't have enough right now.

Speaker 3 (35:10):
You know, we can't defend on the wing. We're not
athletic enough.

Speaker 6 (35:12):
And this is coded about Austin Reeves, and it really
sounds a lot of Laker fans are angry right now
that Lebron and Rich Paul are trying to get Austin Reeves.
Move for Yannis, bring Gianni's here, then we'll have enough
to battle. Okce, Colin, I don't like this at all. Okay,
the Lakers love Austin Reeves, they love them.

Speaker 3 (35:29):
They don't want to trade him.

Speaker 5 (35:31):
Now.

Speaker 3 (35:31):
If you bring on Yannis, that's another story.

Speaker 6 (35:33):
But the reality is like, this is not what you
need when you're seventeen and six and second in the West.
This is now a diversion. This is all the Lakers
are going to be asked about. Lebron's of course saying
all the right things. I love Austin, that's my guy.
Why would your best friend and agent come on here
and say the Lakers are not good enough when they're
seventeen and.

Speaker 1 (35:51):
Six, Well, because they're not. That's called contextualization. Rich Paul
is saying, don't be fooled by records. It's like in
the NFL, we say this all the time. Everybody goes crazy.
The Miami Dolphins are on fire in Miami, it's September.
They're not built for late in the season, though they're
playing well. Now, what he's basically saying is this is great,
but look at the Tea Wolves and OKAC, and you

(36:14):
start looking at these Western teams san Antonio, those teams
are better defenders, better rim protectors, better wing defender. I mean, like,
San Antonio is built for a long series. So is
okayc so is Denver. The Lakers are built to come
into town and beat you because they have three great
play initiators, but they've got holes in the roster. And
I appreciate, I appreciate anybody who isn't a fan bull.

Speaker 3 (36:38):
I totally agree with Rich Paul here.

Speaker 6 (36:40):
It's less about do you agree with them, it's do
you think when you're seventeen and six in Riding Eye
you want.

Speaker 3 (36:46):
Basically he's got a new podcasts, but do you want Lebron?

Speaker 6 (36:49):
This is essentially Lebron saying we're not good enough when
we're great?

Speaker 3 (36:52):
Well, let's do you want that? Because how do you
get better?

Speaker 5 (36:55):
You trade them?

Speaker 1 (36:56):
So you're assuming this is this is on talking.

Speaker 6 (37:00):
I know Rich Paul. I think it's Rich Paul talking.
I would hope, so I can't. This feels like sabotage,
does it?

Speaker 5 (37:07):
Not know?

Speaker 1 (37:09):
Rich Paul's a pretty successful, strong guy. Nobody's gonna force
him to say anything. He's got a new podcast on
the Simmons Group, and so I think this is an
authentic opinion.

Speaker 3 (37:20):
It's right.

Speaker 6 (37:21):
Some of the advanced stats tend to agree they're not
great with the point differential.

Speaker 3 (37:25):
I'm just telling you offensively, they can hang with anybody.

Speaker 6 (37:27):
They've also had Lebron Reeves and Luca for what like
five games together. Can we give it a little more
time to breathe like, yes, you're right, No, rim protective
of Colin. This is not what you need ahead of
this Spurs game. This is all the Lakers are gonna
ask JJ Reddick. By the way, Reddick was at the
Eagles game last night. My buddy's ran into him. Lebron Reeves, Luke,
that's all they're gonna talk. We don't need this crap.

(37:48):
Sorry for what is this weed? Sorry for the wee
are you on the roster? I may be a towel boy,
you know During the NBA Cup figure Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (37:58):
Well, that's the news, and thanks for supping the Herd
line news.

Speaker 1 (38:04):
This week in the NFL, I'm telling you, man, we
get we get sold. There are so many good rivalry
games coming up live in La.

Speaker 3 (38:12):
It's the Hearth.

Speaker 2 (38:17):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon eastern non am Pacific.

Speaker 6 (38:22):
We got a huge sec big Eiast battle on Fox
College Hoops Friday, as Texas takes on Solo Ball and
fifth ranked Yukon. And it's off Friday night at eight
eastern on Fox.

Speaker 1 (38:35):
So Rich Paul Lebron's agent, right, Max Kellerman I got
a new podcast, and this is the one that got
j macall worked up, is that Rich Paul in One
of the bites is essentially saying this Laker team is fun,
but eventually Austin Reeves becomes a major liability.

Speaker 3 (38:56):
Here's the bite.

Speaker 8 (38:58):
When you have the talent up top that they have,
those guys can win games.

Speaker 3 (39:03):
Lebron and Luca, but also Austin's Austin taking a step.

Speaker 8 (39:08):
Then when you go into the playoffs, we seen last
year they ran into athleticism and length, they struggled going
back to the championship organization versus the organization with championships,
the Spurs.

Speaker 2 (39:22):
On the Spurs, he'd be the sixth man, right, especially in.

Speaker 8 (39:25):
The Durs made that decision, and you know what Jenobi did,
embraced it right and how many championships they win?

Speaker 3 (39:32):
Five?

Speaker 8 (39:32):
Yeah, it's those type of decisions to be made.

Speaker 3 (39:38):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (39:38):
So so basically they're saying is, you know, Austin Reeves
is first guy off the bench on a great team.

Speaker 6 (39:46):
Uh.

Speaker 1 (39:46):
But but eventually he'll be exposed in the postseason, which
is what happened last year, which it it got. You
know these guys you love, Brock Purty, Jalen Herds, Austin Reeves.
I know the story is great, but they do get
like Austin Reeves gets exposed athletically playoffs in the NBA,
they swallow the whistle, so you can bully Austin Reeves.

Speaker 3 (40:08):
He's not a super long player.

Speaker 1 (40:09):
He's aggressive, he works his butt off, you can bully him.
He's not that strong, he's not very long. In the playoffs,
the ref swallowed the whistle, so Austin was not a
great playoff guy. But in the in the regular season,
where they kind of just let you play. You know,
they call more whistles, He initiates contact, Austin gets to
the line. He's a twenty point guy. So I can

(40:29):
like Austin Reeves in one setting. It's like Tua in
the sun is wonderful, two in the wind not my
favorite quarterback.

Speaker 6 (40:37):
I love how Austin Reeves is having the best season
of his career.

Speaker 3 (40:40):
He's a lot to be an All Star.

Speaker 6 (40:41):
We were on this over six weeks ago, and what
we're doing is having Lebron's best guy come out and
slander Austin Reaves. Yeah, he's a good sixth man. What
is happening, Colin? Where's the agenda here? You know what
this is doing. This is deflecting away from Lebron because
I think everybody knows this is probably his final year
with the Lakers, right unless he takes a dramatic pay.

Speaker 1 (41:03):
Austin has been the better player this year on the
Lakers over Lebron, at least in terms of consistency.

Speaker 3 (41:08):
I like Lebron.

Speaker 6 (41:09):
I don't want to be bashing him here, but Colin,
let's talk through this.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
We had a minute.

Speaker 6 (41:15):
What's what's Lebron's game plan in the offseason because a
ain't nobody paying him.

Speaker 3 (41:18):
Well, they're forty fifty million new owners. This is it?

Speaker 1 (41:23):
Okay, JJ, Reddick Luca or the future Austin Reeves is
up for discussion.

Speaker 3 (41:28):
Lebron's not the future. I get that. So where then
what becomes of Lebron? He it's over, So he's going to.

Speaker 6 (41:34):
Retire because I'm telling you, Charlotte's not giving him thirty
million dollars a year money.

Speaker 3 (41:37):
It's over. He's not going anymore.

Speaker 6 (41:39):
So this is to me them getting ahead of that
and trying to prolong his career by bringing in Giannis
and moving Austin.

Speaker 1 (41:46):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (41:46):
Probably, I don't like that. That's a dirty game. It's
the game play basketball.

Speaker 5 (41:51):
Lebron.

Speaker 6 (41:52):
Hey, you know, have you seen the numbers on him?
He's not getting to the rim like he used to. Well,
come finish, you get the rim like he used to.

Speaker 3 (41:57):
It's his last year in the league.

Speaker 6 (41:59):
So aren't we talking about that instead of getting Austin Reeves,
who's having the life career season.

Speaker 3 (42:04):
Why aren't we talking about that? I don't know. I
think you're reading like this drama. Stay out here next week,
my friend, don't go home. We need more Lakers content.

Speaker 1 (42:13):
In between, we got a great last hour. Joel Klatt's
gonna stop by. Do not shed a tear for Notre Dame.
I thought I always was a Notre Dame guy. I
said this the La Times yesterday. Finally came to my side.
USC does not need Notre Dame. Notre Dame getting left
out needs USC. Jen Cohen, you've got the leverage, use it.
