Speaker 2 (00:22):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:25):
One of the hardest working people in our business, Diana Russini,
the athletics, senior NFL insiders, got all sorts of good
stuff and there's a lot of stuff going on. This
is the time of the year. The coaches now David
Tepper fire as a coach and now everybody looking over
their shoulder. So Diana, it's great to see you. I
want to talk about a coach that I have defended
on the air because I do think he's done a

(00:46):
good job with his side of the ball. There's a
lot of moving parts with the Jets. You're really connected
to this situation? Is Sola safe? Where do you land
on that? What do you hear?

Speaker 3 (01:02):
Anytime you want to talk about the Jets, Colin on
your show, just say, does Aaron Rodgers want this to happen?

Speaker 4 (01:07):
Because that's the way this organization operates.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
If Aaron Rodgers wants it, if he wants Robert solo,
Robert Salad's going to be the coach.

Speaker 4 (01:14):
If he feels like Robert.

Speaker 3 (01:16):
Sala is a good communicator, he's a good listener, he
connects with these players really well, then Aaron Rodgers is
going to want to stick with him. And from the
sense I get around the building, this staff feels like
they're going.

Speaker 4 (01:27):
To be safe.

Speaker 3 (01:27):
There's an understanding that what he Johnson understands that the
season completely changed once Aaron Rodgers was injured, right, Because
that's really the storyline that the Jets organization wants fans
and people around the league to understand. Every single thing
on this team was built around Aaron.

Speaker 4 (01:46):
Going back to how.

Speaker 3 (01:47):
They handle their free agency, we know that they hired
Nathaniel Hockett because of Aaron Rodgers. We know that free
agency wishless he had. Everything has to do with making
sure Aaron Rodgers is not only happy, but he's in power.

Speaker 1 (02:00):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
They want to make him feel that he's not just
the quarterback on this team, but he's part of this
franchise and he has the control and he is given
that control now Look, there's a collaboration.

Speaker 4 (02:13):
They all have conversations.

Speaker 3 (02:15):
But at bottom line here, if Aaron Rodgers wants it,
Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (02:19):
Is going to get it.

Speaker 3 (02:19):
And if he believes that Joe Douglas and Robert Sala
are the right guys for next season, these guys are safe.

Speaker 4 (02:25):
And it seems like that's how they all feel in
the building.

Speaker 1 (02:27):
All right. I want to bring up Jim Harbaugh. So
I was told last night from somebody that was connected
and was this weekend at Ohio State Michigan. There's a
feeling at Michigan. This could be it, especially if he
wins a Natty all your sources, are you hearing his name,
Diana being bandied about when you talk to people, Absolutely.

Speaker 3 (02:49):
Ever since Jim left the NFL, his name is always
in the mix, but it certainly has heated up a
lot more over the last week or so.

Speaker 4 (02:55):
So let's just start with Carolina.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
Right.

Speaker 3 (02:57):
You mentioned David Tepper makes that firing the last week
with Frank right now out If you remember, Tepper and
Harball had conversations last year, right, he was a It
obviously didn't pan out, but this was something that they discussed.

Speaker 4 (03:12):
So that's a name that I'm hearing again.

Speaker 3 (03:14):
The Chicago Bears are another organization I have heard has
had some conversations about that, depending on what decision they
make with this coaching staff that is in place, and
of course what they do with that quarterback situation. But
Jim is certainly a name that is respected in league circles.
In the NFL, Ownership is definitely obviously very interested in

(03:36):
what he could bring back to the NFL. So I
certainly think this is going to just continue as we
are closer to the end of the NFL regular season,
when ownership can start beginning that process of.

Speaker 2 (03:49):
The coach search.

Speaker 1 (03:50):
Okay, so you have an article at The Athletic about
Mike Vrabel. Now his name has been mentioned as a
successor to Belichick. That's well dock and often discussed. I
can't see Tennessee letting them walk out the door. Your
take on Vrabel one of my favorite guys in the NFL,
one of my favorite coaches. What are you hearing.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
The sense I get from the Titans organization, and this
is just talking to high ranking sources there just about
how they feel. Let's just start there about their head coach,
right because they're not having a good year at all.
They don't look good on either side of the ball.
And Vrabel's done a really good job the last few
seasons of putting together a pretty good product considering the

(04:37):
roster has never really been that great.

Speaker 4 (04:40):
But that being said, they know what they have.

Speaker 3 (04:42):
You know, sometimes with owners, you wonder if they understand
that the talent that they have on the coaching side
is that good if they're not winning. And that's really
why I started to dig on that story, because he's
a type of coach where you do talk to people
around the league, they consider him.

Speaker 4 (05:00):
To be a top ten, top five head.

Speaker 3 (05:02):
Coach in the league, despite the fact that he hasn't
won a Super Bowl with the Titans.

Speaker 4 (05:06):
Just yet, everyone that competes against.

Speaker 3 (05:08):
Him knows that they're going to be a really tough
team to beat. So the sense I get out of
Tennessee is they are they want to keep him there now.

Speaker 4 (05:15):
In terms of the New England side of this, and
I think if.

Speaker 3 (05:18):
Rumors really started to pick up when Mike Vrabel was
up in New England, he was inducted in that Patriot
Ring of Honor and we saw him right during the
game when the Patriots played the bills. He's sitting in
a swinge at Robbercraft and they looked comfy, right, and
you have to wonder what those conversations were.

Speaker 4 (05:35):
Of course that would be tampering, so they wouldn't be
doing that.

Speaker 3 (05:38):
But one of the takeaways was, you know, the New
England reporters up there were saying that Rabel was emphasizing
to Craft it's not like this in other places.

Speaker 4 (05:49):
This place is really special. And I know that stood
out to me and it made me.

Speaker 3 (05:53):
Think, hm, maybe maybe that's something he would want.

Speaker 4 (05:58):
Maybe maybe he wants to go back to New England.
But after doing some digging on.

Speaker 3 (06:02):
That last week, bottom line, he wants to be in
Tennessee and Tennessee wants him to be in Tennessee. So
I think this is going to be a marriage that
we're going to see work out and continue over the
next few years.

Speaker 1 (06:15):
All right. So I don't think Carolina is going to
win much going forward. So the Bears have their pick.
They have the number one pick. My guess is Caleb Williams.
Despite the win. You know, thirty three starts in the NFL.
I watched CJ. Stroud by the second half of his
first week. If you're good. You see it, and you
see it pretty quick. My guess is Chicago is moving
off justin and I do think he has a market

(06:36):
somewhere like Atlanta. Has that decision been made according to
your sources.

Speaker 3 (06:43):
I don't believe it's been made.

Speaker 4 (06:45):
I don't think it's been finalized.

Speaker 3 (06:47):
You know, anytime you talk to somebody in the Chicago organization,
they'll tell you, you.

Speaker 4 (06:51):
Know, we're still evaluating.

Speaker 3 (06:52):
And in terms of the power and the control there,
Kevin Warren has brought has been brought in there.

Speaker 4 (06:58):
He really started doing the work and Chicago.

Speaker 3 (07:00):
He was hired in January, but pretty much April, so
he's really trying to take that time to take a
look at all of it, a quarterback position, a coaching staff,
and really try to make an unemotional decision in how
he sees the Chicago Bears organization not just have success
in the short term, but of course the long term.

(07:22):
So depending on how he sees it. But for me,
just just from from staying on that story and following
it all season long and obviously having those conversations, I
do see Chicago not only moving on from from their
head coach, but I do see them getting back in
the quarterback market and figure out where Justin feels lands
next to me?

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Why not the Eagles? That looks like a like a
trade that Howie Rosen.

Speaker 3 (07:47):
Would make, uh, you know, perhaps like a like a
Trey Lance type situation where we saw this past offseason, right,
that would make a lot of sense.

Speaker 2 (07:55):
We'll see.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
We'll see if they'll come up with that.

Speaker 1 (07:57):
J Mac Atlanta and the Philadelphia Eagles. J Max mentioned
that yesterday that it's interesting, it's an offensive culture. Maybe
he'd be more comfortable better offensive line and weapons. Okay,
when the Niners went and got Chase Young, it didn't
get a lot of play because Chase Young was seen
as somebody who had sort of underperformed. But if you
look at analytics since he arrived, he's actually helped their

(08:19):
defensive front. Guy's a baller. So, Shaq Leonard, maybe it
was over in Indye, but for thirty snaps, you can't
tell me he doesn't matter. What is the market on,
Shaq Leonard? Do you hear all sorts of stuff? What's
the latest?

Speaker 3 (08:35):
Yeah, it's interesting how you surround yourself with studs, how
your productivity really goes up, and it really seems like
with Chase that that's been the case here change of environment,
But for Shack Leonard's I think it's a different scenario.

Speaker 1 (08:49):
Colin.

Speaker 4 (08:50):
You know, he's obviously a really disruptive player.

Speaker 3 (08:53):
I remember another player telling me, when you play this team,
you have to know where he is at all times.
I don't necess necessarily believe that's still the case. I
don't think he's done. He's obviously not watched. They're talking
about two top teams who are bringing him in for
a visit. Right he'd met with the Dallas Cowboys yesterday.
He spent the day with the coaching staff, he had
a physical. He left without a deal, though, and Philadelphia

(09:14):
hadn't set up that visit until yesterday afternoon really because
they thought Dallas was going to be able to get
the deal done. And I was told that Jack really
wants to take some time here to decide where he
wants to go. So he's in Philadelphia at this moment,
and I was told he'll take this weekend most likely
to decide where he wants to go. So in terms

(09:35):
of his level of play, I mean both teams talking
to both of them, they obviously feel like they can
make a difference, and these are two he can make
a difference.

Speaker 4 (09:42):
And these are both.

Speaker 3 (09:44):
Teams the Dallas Cowboys and the Philadelphia Eagles who were
making vocals during the trade deadline at the end of
October to try to find a linebacker.

Speaker 4 (09:52):
Right both of.

Speaker 3 (09:53):
Them were in the market form weren't able to land anyone.
So it actually makes a lot of sense why they
would bringing a shack.

Speaker 4 (10:00):
At this point.

Speaker 3 (10:01):
And if he can just resemble a little bit of
what he was doing and say, like twenty twenty one
with seven force fumbles, then yeah, this is quite the
addition late in the year that he would be But.

Speaker 4 (10:15):
Obviously we know he's doubled a lot of injuries.

Speaker 1 (10:18):
Finally, in Los Angeles, they're not a big brand, but
they are a big talking point on Mondays after close
losses the Chargers, So there was a story today. Spanos
is generally they don't spend a ton of money on coaches.
They'll let it play out to the end of the season.
A lot of people here talk about, you know, Kellen Moore.
My question is, would they consider a Harball and then

(10:41):
Harball would want personnel control? What do you hear it?
Would it be Kellen Moore? Would it be big money,
and they've been reluctant, Anthony Lynn, Brandon Staley, They've taken
young up and comers, Harbaugh and the discussion big name.
What do you make of it, Diana.

Speaker 3 (10:59):
Well, I can tell you the Kellen Moore situation. He's
been given an opportunity to show what he's able to
do on the offensive side of the ball and bring
out the best in Justin Herbert. So we've seen it,
and I'm not necessarily sure that's helped him this season.
I think Kellen Moore's value was a lot higher last
year when he was with the Dallas Cowboys. When he

(11:20):
met with the Panthers twice, he almost got that job.
He was close to getting that job, So I would
I would be shocked if they went with Kellen Moore,
who obviously is on that staff right now. And I
know there's a report right now that they're going to
clear house, and that's the sense around the league that
Brandon Stally will be done at the end of this
year pretty much, no matter what happens here over the

(11:41):
next few weeks.

Speaker 4 (11:42):
Obviously, if they were.

Speaker 3 (11:43):
Able to go all the way to the Super Bowl,
that's not going to change. But With that in mind,
I do think Jim harm is a name that they'd
be crazy not to at least take a meeting with him,
knowing that, look, we haven't been able to figure this
out and get this right with the people that we've
put in place that don't have as much much experience.
Why not bringing a guy who knows how to develop
a quarterback? And Yeah, maybe the ConTroll thing is it

(12:07):
doesn't agree with how you normally run business.

Speaker 4 (12:10):
But sometimes you see these teams.

Speaker 3 (12:12):
Going in a different direction knowing it's probably for the better,
and that could be for the better for the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
Diana Rusini works so hard the Athletic Reader stuff latest
article on vrabel one of the smart guys in the league.
As always, I know you're going to have to endure
that weather. I'm not even going to talk about California weather.

Speaker 1 (13:55):
All right, j Maack with the news.

Speaker 2 (13:57):
No, no tarn on the news. This is the herd
Line News.

Speaker 8 (14:03):
So somewhere along the line, I don't know, I became
a Steelers fan this year. Could have been some preseason
money on maker missed the playoffs.

Speaker 5 (14:09):
I don't know.

Speaker 8 (14:09):
Maybe it's flashy offense there so over the week over
the weekend. You know, Deontay Johnson in the game against
the Bengals, if you see him there on the screen,
number eighteen, not even moving at the snap the ball's fumbled.
He doesn't seem to care, I know, and it goes viral.
He's just standing there like checked out on the play. Look,
everybody's running around scrambling. He's just like, ah, immature, I'm

(14:30):
you know, blessed to be stressed. Anyways, Mike Tomlin has
addressed this during his weekly press conference.

Speaker 2 (14:35):
Here's what he had to say.

Speaker 5 (14:37):
We got to take care of the ball. It is
our desires how we construct victory. So Jayalen's got to
do a better job there. You know, Deontay can't let
the emotions of the previous down affect this next down.
But I'll give him an opportunity to address that with
you guys, I'll give him an opportunity to address that
with teammates. I'm not going to add any additional color.

(14:59):
I think play like that are best described in outlined
by those involved and less so by guys like me.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
Such a good quote. Yeah, he's basically gonna let the
player defend himself. Listen to Steelers through the years, because
of Tomlin's gravitas and respect had been willing to take
players emotionally that can be viewed as difficult that other
teams like take off the board. And that's a credit
to Tomlin is that he can coach these guys and

(15:31):
get the most out of them. And so that's why
you get you know, Lavian Bell, Antonio Brown, I mean,
Big Ben had his own drama, right. So I think
with Pittsburgh, because of Tomlin's presence and respect in the building,
they have rolled the dice on some of these players.
They're often incredibly productive. And so the way the Steelers

(15:51):
look at a Jay Mack is, yeah, we've done this
before and it's always worked for us, and so like
it not every culture is to say he may not
work with and coaches, but he works with Tom and
Tom O always gets these guys at least early in
their career figured out.

Speaker 8 (16:06):
I'm a little I think he's been through this with
Antonio Brown. And let's be real, Johnson's good. He ain't
know Antonio Brown. Antonio Brown, at the height of his powers,
was a superstar in the NFL. Yeah, so you put
up with a lot for a superstar. Johnson and Pickens Man,
these receivers, they get a lot of flags for celebrating
first downs and like run their mouth.

Speaker 2 (16:24):
Some of that stuff's got to change. I don't know.
You like the Steelers this week five and a half
against the Cardinals. It's a big number.

Speaker 1 (16:31):
I like the Cardinals. Better quarterback than'll lose, but cover
they also Cardinals got blown out teams that get blown
out and usually play. Yeah, they'll play. They'll play a
spirited game and lose to the steam.

Speaker 8 (16:42):
I'll just point out AFC has I don't know if
it's sixty percent, but they've dominated the NFC at the head.

Speaker 2 (16:48):
Hey, this is another AFC versus NFC.

Speaker 8 (16:50):
AFC is better, no question, except at the top. Next up,
Gino Smith. Oh boy, it's got that elbow in the eleven.
Showed it in the Lost of the Niners. I mean,
San Frank was just killing them after like two quarters,
but with a full week of recovery. Gino's off the
injury report. Pete Carroll had this to say about his QB.

Speaker 2 (17:11):
Difference in nine day.

Speaker 9 (17:13):
He's out there running practice and putting on a show
force as he does every week, with throwing the football
over the place, and he did that exactly. He was
full go the whole time, and that was not the case.
And so you know, we want to make a big
deal about it that you know, it's pretty obvious. You know,
it's a big difference.

Speaker 2 (17:29):
This number keeps climbing. Collins seven seven and a half.

Speaker 1 (17:31):
Now, Dallas has been the best home coover team last
couple of years in the league, and I think it
should be noted we touched on this yesterday. Dak is
having his best year and Mike McCarthy's his coach. Aaron
had a better win percentage with Mike McCarthy in the
playoffs than Matt Lafleur. I mean, I am critical of McCarthy,

(17:53):
but I will say Dallas, however he motivates. Does anybody
in the league crush the teams they should crush like Dallas?
And the answer is no.

Speaker 2 (18:03):
Correct, all right, you're ready for this.

Speaker 8 (18:06):
I just knew there was something I needed to look at.
I want to see this Dallas play after Seattle. Oh
would you look at that? The rematch with the Eagles
is next weekend. Is there a chance Dallas, feeling themselves
after multiple blowouts, are looking on that calendar.

Speaker 2 (18:26):
They got it circled. We want revenge on the Eagles.

Speaker 1 (18:29):
Here's what I do.

Speaker 8 (18:30):
They possibly overlook a reeling Seattle team.

Speaker 1 (18:33):
Philadelphia loses to San Francisco since his urgency, goes to
Dallas and beats him again and plays better than they
did the first time. I thought Philadelphia won that game
and there was a lot left on the bone. Oh way,
the Dallas game, Yeah, I mean I thought Dallas mostly
outplayed him and played about as well as they can
and lost. Philadelphia played okay, and one I think Philadelphia

(18:56):
loses to the Niners, comes back, plays very focused foot
and beats Dallas. Dallas doesn't be good team.

Speaker 2 (19:02):
You got Dallas covering this week against Seattle.

Speaker 1 (19:05):
I'd price stay away, but I listen to every time
I doubted Dallas against Commanders. Dallas wins these games and
wins them comfortably. Today, tomorrow, night.

Speaker 8 (19:13):
They won forty five to ten, thirty three, ten forty nine,
seventeen forty three, twenty.

Speaker 2 (19:17):
I mean, if you're not good, they're gonna smash you, yep.

Speaker 1 (19:21):
And if you're shocking quarterback, they will really smash you.

Speaker 2 (19:24):
I'd be careful here.

Speaker 1 (19:25):
I'm gonna tell you something that's shack for me yet.
That's Shack Leonard news. You're not paying a fortune for
him if Dallas could. And by the way, when the
Niners went and got Chase Young, they didn't need Chase Young.
They had a pass rush. It was an additive. You're
adding strength to strength. The Cowboys don't need Shack Leonard,

(19:45):
they have Micah. You're adding strength to strength pass rush.

Speaker 2 (19:48):
Well, I thought didn't. Didn't vander Esk get hurt like
they're gonna need somebody. It's not that Eagles run game.
Jalen Hurts running up the middle of.

Speaker 1 (19:53):
I just toown thirty snaps for Chase Young twenty eight
snaps A game for Chase youm twenty eight for Shack Leonard. Yeah,
I'll t that. I'm not asking him for fifty six
where Shack can get hurt you twenty five twenty eight
snaps for Shaq Leonard at Dallas. I think it makes
him a better football team. Absolutely, okay, and I would
I honestly if Dallas adds Shaq Leonard. No, I honestly

(20:15):
think I think they get They're not only in the
Super Bowl bubble. I think they're a top five team.
I think he's a kind of guy.

Speaker 2 (20:21):
Is Shack Leonard putting him over the top against the
Niners or Eagles, it.

Speaker 1 (20:24):
Puts him right in the same octagon octagn okay, puts
some right. It goes Kansas City, Baltimore, Dallas, Philly, San
Francisco in that order. No. Just and again, I know
Shaq Leonard's probably not worth half a point, but I'm
saying is from a personnel standpoint. With a great defensive coordinator,

(20:46):
Dan Quinn, you give him another piece. I mean when
you give these defensive coordinators who have been around another piece.

Speaker 8 (20:53):
And he's gonna be motivated after he's basically getting kicked
off the team in Indy Like, dude, Dude, Shack is
now long, big, fast, physical dude.

Speaker 1 (21:02):
He's just not a fifty nine sixty three snap guy
that you build around. You know, that's not what he is.
I'm okay with it. I don't need a three hour show.
Give me, give me a good opening rant.

Speaker 2 (21:13):
Final story is the NBA.

Speaker 8 (21:15):
Mark Cuban is selling his majority steak in the Dallas Mavericks.
Cuban will remain the governor of the franchise and in
control of all basketball operations.

Speaker 2 (21:25):
He's on the mad since two thousand.

Speaker 8 (21:27):
He purchased a majority share for two hundred and eighty
five mili. The team is currently valued at three and
a half billion dollars. Now a lot of people are speculating, Hey,
he's leaving that show Shark Tank and now he's selling
his steak.

Speaker 2 (21:40):
Oh my gosh, Mark Cuban's going to run for president
And I don't know.

Speaker 8 (21:43):
I talked to someone last night. It sounds like he's
bringing on Adelson from Vegas. You know what he did
in Vegas casinos conservative, big time casinos, and that's what
Mark Cuban wants to do. He wants to bring gambling
to Texas, be part of the team that does that.
And all of a sudden, he's got this destination. You
build an arena, hotel, casino, and he's got this complex

(22:04):
in Dallas. Is like a big time destination. So don't
I don't think he's running for president. I think he's
just trying to make more money.

Speaker 1 (22:10):
Well that's what rich guys do. They like to make
more money.

Speaker 2 (22:13):
I have a bad idea.

Speaker 1 (22:15):
Jmack with the news.

Speaker 2 (22:17):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping back the Herd.

Speaker 1 (22:21):
Line New I have a great parlay for you this
weekend thanks to Draft Kings Sportsbook. New users please use
the code Herd h e erd when you download the app.
Here's my parlay pick of the week via Draft Kings
Sports Book. I'll take the Lions minus four at the Saints.
I'm out on Dennis Allen. I think he's one of
the worst coaches in the league. Lions got embarrassed by

(22:42):
Green Bay. They bounce back and win. Chargers minus six
at the Patriots a desperate team coach in a hot
seat in New England. I'm not sure they want to
win games. I'll take the Chargers to win by more
than a touchdown. And I'll take the Jaguars hosting the Bengals.
Jake Browning not it can't beat you downfield. Jags want
to get that number one seed. They're motivated. If you

(23:03):
want to take the Herd parlay, check out Draftking Sportsbook.

Speaker 2 (23:37):
Sunday, we got a huge doubleheader on Fox.

Speaker 8 (23:40):
First, the Lions take on the Saints or other regional
action than.

Speaker 2 (23:43):
In America's Game of the Week.

Speaker 8 (23:45):
Christian McCaffrey and the Niners take on Jalen Arts and
Eagles in one of the biggest games of the year.

Speaker 2 (23:50):
Check for the games in your area Sunday on Fox.

Speaker 1 (23:53):
Lions Saints Early game, Fox underrated, car Golf underrated.

Speaker 8 (23:57):
You know we're going to get browns rams out here
in the afternoon, right Did you see that they have
to go to a watering hole and check that one out.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
I'll go to a watering hole. I know which one.
I'm going to join me if you'd like. It's a
big number. Okay, So there's a story out Aaron Rodgers
officially today starts what they call a twenty one day
practice window. Now the Jets play Atlanta, Houston, Miami. I

(24:24):
think in that order all was significantly better offenses. So
if you start looking at the schedule, they're not gonna
win Miami.

Speaker 3 (24:31):
I doubt.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
They face some offenses here. They can move the ball,
even Sam Hell and Washington can move the ball a
little bit. So my take is that this this team
is going to end up probably a five to a
six win team, six and eleven. But Robert Salad talking
about Aaron now, can he's ready to.

Speaker 6 (24:49):
Go, being able to activate him after the twenty one day.

Speaker 11 (24:53):
We're not there yet because they're still like, you know,
he's like a lot of guys coming off they're usually
not ready to play football. There's still a little bit
of a health concern there, and so you know, you
use these twenty one day windows to see where they're at.
So we're so far away from that. But like I said,
the mindset for this is more of a progression in

(25:15):
his rehab and like I said, he's been cleared for
functional football activity.

Speaker 1 (25:19):
Functional football activity. What does that mean to you? Now
you're a Jets fan, the resident Jets expert. You don't
want to have him play. I think it would be
a huge mistake. I think it's been you know, he
fashions himself. Aaron likes you to think that he is,
you know, not conforming to society's rules. And I don't
need vaccines, and I you know, I mean, I think

(25:41):
I'm saying something that it's kind of understood, you know.
I he views himself as not a traditionalist. He's going
to push back on mandates, government, media, anything that's traditional,
anti established, and that's fine. I'm not against it. I
think we need people like that, and if Aaron's one
of those people, I'm fine with that. I think a
lot of this is interesting, but I don't believe he's

(26:04):
capable of playing in the NFL this year. I think
I think it just it's I could see him coming back.
Remember he got hurt in the fourth play of the year.
Your take on it.

Speaker 2 (26:12):
Is, Yeah, I don't want to see him out there.
He's going to get hurt again.

Speaker 8 (26:15):
Now, listen, is he an upgrade is Aaron Rodgers on
one leg and upgrade from Tim Boyle? Certainly, But do
we want to see Rogers end his career like this?
Achilles comes back quickly and then gets hurt again.

Speaker 2 (26:27):
What's the point? I don't know, man, this is the
Jets franchise. I don't know. Why would you move off him?

Speaker 1 (26:33):
You don't want to explore all.

Speaker 8 (26:34):
Options, Like I've been saying for two months, like what
can you get for Sauce Gardner? Like he's awesome, but
I think you get the only way to get better
is you've got to look at everything. You have a
business currently, you look at all options all the time. Yes,
the Jets have to seriously consider it, like, maybe this
is not happening. It's not a thing. Nathaniel Hackett's been
a disaster. Who's Alan Lazard? Like what's he done? Healthy

(26:55):
scratch last week? Mikole Hardman. Now, everything Aaron Rodgers has
touched has kind of turned to pool.

Speaker 1 (27:01):
But Diana Russini is saying, basically it all runs through Aaron.

Speaker 2 (27:05):
That's not great.

Speaker 8 (27:06):
No, you're letting an anti establishment thirty nine year old
run the show. Now, you could argue, Listen, the Jets
haven't been good for a while. They've got the longest
playoff drought in the league. What do they have to lose?

Speaker 2 (27:17):
And I'll just say dignity.

Speaker 1 (27:19):
Maybe, Well, they haven't had a bunch of that. Yeah.

Speaker 8 (27:22):
Also true, way Woody Johnson, if you're paying attention, get
a clue, Brud, this is bad.

Speaker 1 (27:27):
New York sports is a mess, terrible.

Speaker 2 (27:29):
I mean, what's going on with the Yankees this offseason.

Speaker 1 (27:31):
It's a mess New York Sports.

Speaker 2 (27:33):
Yeah, at least Jalen Brunson's there carrying the torch for
the next.

Speaker 1 (27:36):
They're not a title team.

Speaker 2 (27:37):
Well that's because Julius Randall's playing like garbage.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
But all right, Joel Klapp, So the college football Playoff
came out. Now, I don't spend too much time on
the rankings because all these teams have a very good
team coming up next. But it's like, you know, Georgia, Michigan, Washington,
and Florida State. Florida State. Now their star quarterback got hurt.
They have a backup quarterback. They would be an underdog
to the first seven teams, eight teams. Oregon would be

(28:04):
favored over them, Texas, Bama, Washington, Ohio State, Georgia, they'd
all be favored over Florida State. And what happens in
college football, there's this battle between resume and reality. The
reality is we all know who recruits at the highest level.
Those teams win the Natty every year. The average margin
of victory in these games in the playoff has been

(28:26):
like over two touchdowns. So the media pushes for it,
the committee pushes for resume, and they deserve to be here.
And that team always gets smoked. So Florida State would
get smoked if they got in and played you know, Oregon, Washington, Georgia, Bama, Texas,
Ohio State, Florida, whoever they play. You know, they had
two hundred yards offense against Florida this past week. But

(28:47):
Joel Klatt says, don't be surprised if after this weekend
they don't make it. If you believe that Florida State
has earned a spot in the playoff, I'm fine with
that because, you know what, it's hard to go and
defeed it. And I don't care exactly what your conference
makeup is, as long as it's in the Power five.
They played LSU in the non conference. They'd beat Clemson

(29:08):
at Clemson, but without their quarterback for you to suggest
that they are one of the four best teams is silly.
I think that we have to be prepared for the
fact that the committee usually takes the path of least resistance,
and I think Florida State, with a win is going
to go and I know that I don't think that
it would be good for college football. I think that
it would be good for them. Yeah. Good news is

(29:28):
next year we go to a twelve team playoffs and
we won't have these arguments. I wouldn't care if a
team gets in as a twelve It's like people who
get worked up over the sixty eighth team in March Madness.
But when you have a small number of playoff teams,
take the best teams. Vegas is the truth. Florida State
would be a two touchdown underdog to all the teams

(29:48):
in the top six or seven in KLATS poll or
my poll. But you know, be that as it may.
This is the final year of the playoff and if
it's true to form, they'll put Florida State in. That's
what they do, the path of least resistance. You know,
it's whatever. So I mean, you know, Texas lost a game,
Ohio State lost the game. Bama lost the game, you know,

(30:10):
don't lose the game, we wouldn't have an argument. I
think Washington's gonna lose Friday to Oregon, So you know,
somebody Usually what happens on this weekend is somebody gets upset. Now,
Ioway's got a great defense. Michigan came off a wildly
dramatic win. Hardballs back in the sideline. Could Michigan lose,
could Oregon lose? Yeah, Washington's got like NFL players and
a great coach. So usually a lot of people think

(30:34):
Bama can beat Georgia. I don't. I think there's a
huge I think they both have great athletes, both have
great coaches. Georgia's got a much better quarterback. But Bama
last week obviously was looking ahead to Georgia because they
almost lost to Auburn. Probably should have. So that's kind
of where we're at on that thing.

Speaker 8 (30:53):
Where's the game this year that Alabama has looked good?
Give me one game like they haven't played well?

Speaker 1 (30:58):
I could be if my memory didn't. They beat Ole
Miss and look pretty good if I recall.

Speaker 8 (31:03):
All right, Ole Miss whooped the damn Bills again. The
only reason they're a discussion is because their name is Alabama.

Speaker 2 (31:11):
Well, but they've been great forever with Saban.

Speaker 1 (31:13):
They did win all their games except Texas.

Speaker 2 (31:15):
Yeah, okay, but I don't.

Speaker 1 (31:16):
Like the fact. I don't like the fact Ohio State
lost on the road, Bama lost at home. That matters.
Where you lose matters.

Speaker 2 (31:24):
Or thanked at home by Texas that was a spanking well.

Speaker 1 (31:27):
Oregon lost tough stadium on the road, Ohio State lost
tough stadium on the road. That matters, Bama lost at home.
In college football, you rarely see teams go into top
ten teams and win on the road. So the idea
when you lose matters and where you lose. Bama lost
a home game and got pushed around by Texas about

(31:49):
how about this?

Speaker 8 (31:50):
Alabama beat Texas A and M twenty six twenty as
the A and M the fired Jimbo Fisher an.

Speaker 1 (31:54):
I know. I've watched Bama play five times.

Speaker 2 (31:56):
They beat Arkansas, Arkansas, they four.

Speaker 1 (31:59):
One by armor. I wanted they were outplaying.

Speaker 2 (32:01):
There's just not a good It's okay to say that.
I'm not a hater. They're just not a good football team.

Speaker 1 (32:05):
Well, there is a good bet are good football team.
I figure right, they're not a great football Michigan. Michigan,
Oregon Georgia are exceptional college football teams. This is the
best Michigan team I've ever seen. It's the best Oregon
team i've seen. It is not the best Georgia team
I've seen.

Speaker 8 (32:21):
You know, we don't love to bet favorites, but you
could parlay Michigan and Georgia this weekend and feel great
about it.

Speaker 2 (32:27):
He can just go out and spend the money before
the games.

Speaker 1 (32:29):
I almost gonna ugly that thing up. They're not gonna
score much. They may lose nine to six, but uh.

Speaker 8 (32:36):
You know I always go wow, Okay, go ahead, take
a double dog, dare you.

Speaker 1 (32:41):
It's not scintillating football, but it's a lot of a
lot of guys in.

Speaker 2 (32:45):
The UNFL teams touchdowns to keep this thing close.

Speaker 1 (32:47):
I'm just saying some of these some favorites, probably gonna
lose this weekend because that's the way it usually work. SSU. Well, man,
a man can dream, a man can pray. All Right,
we'll see tomorrow.
