(00:25):
Pretty light weekend to college football.

Speaker 2 (00:27):
Next weekend's better. Jmak with the news heard on the news.

Speaker 3 (00:34):
This is the Herdline news.

Speaker 4 (00:37):
You won a college football winner, Buddy, Yeah, Miami Hurricanes
minus seventeen against USF. USF just took down the Gators.
Uh and they're still celebrating at USF. I think Miami
smashes him. Anyways, let's move on to the.

Speaker 3 (00:50):
First story column.

Speaker 4 (00:51):
That's CD Lamb, who appeared India Blazing five for the
first time in his life.

Speaker 3 (00:58):
He had a rough week.

Speaker 4 (00:59):
One FF credit him with four drops, the most since
Nase Harris in twenty twenty one and the most by
a wide receiver since Jerry Judy in twenty twenty.

Speaker 2 (01:09):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (01:10):
Lamb talked about how the drops impacted.

Speaker 5 (01:12):
Him, going back to my fundamentals. I know what it is,
I know what to do.

Speaker 3 (01:18):
Again's game one.

Speaker 5 (01:19):
We got sixteen modies and that's just again the competitor
that I am and how much I cheat to the
game as far as being honest, and I'm just giving
it everything I got because I do love this I
love this game, I love this play. I love the
guys that I do it with. So as for me,
just heard him. I ended up bargaining.

Speaker 2 (01:36):
He is the last thing I worry about with the Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (01:38):
He's all good, and I mean, George Pickens is talented,
but you can see the gap between Ceedee Lamb and
George Pickens when they're on the field together.

Speaker 2 (01:48):
And who DAK trust.

Speaker 1 (01:49):
And I guarantee you that this is one of my
bets they are going to make a point of going
back to Ceedee Lamb over six and a half catches
is one of my favorite bets of the way. I
think they're going to really because listen, CD really is
the DAK and CD right now are easily now that
Mike has gone, the two most important players Brian Schottenheimer,

(02:10):
and he needs a double down on DAK and CD Lamb.
At the home opener against the Giants.

Speaker 4 (02:15):
If I'm the Giants, I just try to take away
CD Lamb. You know, I'll say, hey, Pickin's gonna beat us. Fine,
you know Jake Ferguson Javonte would go for I would
do my best to take away CD Limb.

Speaker 3 (02:25):
The Eagles could not do that. Colin. I think it's
a smart bet. You had thirteen targets in week one.
We should have easily had ten eleven catches.

Speaker 4 (02:33):
Next up, let's go to my Jets. They were outstanding
in Week one. You could argue nobody looked better than
the Jets that in defeat. Justin Fields had three touchdowns
and Garrett Wilson who had a good game but took
that late hit from Jalen Ramsey. That kind of sense
the loss. Wilson knows they're not done yet. And there's
a lot more where that came from.

Speaker 6 (02:54):
This game.

Speaker 2 (02:54):
Is it rewards people that I love? It is the
way I see it.

Speaker 5 (02:58):
They love and he loves the day, and he playing
the right way and has the right mindset. Every time
it takes that deal they go and uh, you know
all the teammates we that's some tages, right.

Speaker 3 (03:06):
So when your quarterbacks doing that like you got no choice.
I'm ana pop up after you taking that. Ya, I'm
a whatever it may be, because you see him do it.

Speaker 1 (03:12):
So Yeah, I don't think that offense looks quite as
amazing on the road against Buffalo.

Speaker 4 (03:22):
Huh You sure about that? Were you impressed by Buffalo?
They couldn't tackle Derrick Henry?

Speaker 1 (03:27):
I mean, I know he's a again that what is
the rule of football? If you win but play poorly?
And Buffalo defensively was did not play good football game.
I think the Bills are going to be sort of
dialed in and you'd like him to cover as well,
say relative division game, I'd stay away from it. I

(03:48):
think it's seven. I'd probably take the Jets six and
a half. All stay away, but I think Buffalo wins.
I think there's some scoring in this. I think it's
kind of a twenty eight to twenty one game. If
I got seven, i'd prob lee take the Jets, probably
seven and a half.

Speaker 2 (04:02):
I would definitely take the Jets.

Speaker 4 (04:03):
Yeah, I took a nibble of the Jets just so
I can have.

Speaker 3 (04:05):
A rooting interest. I think it'll be a good game.
I gotta be honest.

Speaker 4 (04:09):
Of all the units of the contenders, like Green Bay
looks awesome on both sides of the football.

Speaker 3 (04:13):
I thought the Buffalo defense was.

Speaker 4 (04:15):
Really really bad, but as you said, they faced the Ravens,
who are a machine. Final story, Colin, we haven't mentioned
as Dame in weeks Shedeur Sanders.

Speaker 3 (04:25):
So h have you been following what's going on?

Speaker 4 (04:28):
Because reports indicate shadere is not even leading the scout
team offense.

Speaker 3 (04:33):
I know that would be run by Bailey Zappi.

Speaker 4 (04:37):
Shadur is getting no practice reps behind Flacco and Dylan Gabriel.
We spent like the entire summer talking about this guy,
and now he's not even running the scout team.

Speaker 2 (04:47):
Colent, I know it's crazy. I mean, it really is,
is it?

Speaker 6 (04:53):
Though?

Speaker 1 (04:54):
Well?

Speaker 3 (04:54):
Yeah, I mean I didn't.

Speaker 1 (04:56):
Think he was a great prospect. I thought cam Ward
was easily the best.

Speaker 4 (04:59):
Problem during the season with everybody, not just us, everybody,
I mean Daniel Jeremiah, who's the number one draft guy,
everybody loves Shadure. During the season, everybody had him as
a first round pick.

Speaker 3 (05:10):
Call it everyone.

Speaker 4 (05:12):
Yeah, he's not even running a scout team on the
Cleveland Browns. That is a bit of a drop off.
So there's a bit of a disconnect here.

Speaker 1 (05:20):
Come on, well, it tells me and I one of
the things that I remember when Drew Locke came into
the league and I was like, I think he's trying
to do hard to be cool. That's a huge turn
off for me. Johnny Manziel had that, like, you're not
just your rookie quarterback chadure one hundred mile an hour
speeding ticket, legendary room. It's like, you got to get

(05:43):
your priorities at that position. You got to get them
buttoned up by about fifteen years old. Yeah, and I think,
I mean, seriously, it's unfair, but there are certain professional
professions like pilot if you know, there's a lot of
twenty six year old pilots out there. I need you
to be more mature than most twenty six year old guys,
medical field surgeons. At twenty seven, I needed to be

(06:05):
more mature. You can't come over with a hangover. Quarterbacks
the one position in sports. It's kind of unfair, but
I need you to be an adult by twenty two
years old, like an adult making mann decisions. And I
think sometimes Shador comes in as silly and playful, and
I'm just that's just a turn off to a lot
of people.

Speaker 4 (06:23):
What if it's more, what if he's just not cut
out to be an NFL player?

Speaker 3 (06:28):
Is that is that possible?

Speaker 7 (06:29):
Well?

Speaker 2 (06:29):
I mean if yeah, I mean.

Speaker 4 (06:31):
I mean, forget the maturity just as a football player.
Is it Is it possible? I mean every team passed
on him multiple times. The Browns gave him a shot,
and now they're like, eh, scout team, but let's bring
in Bailey Zappy to run this guy.

Speaker 3 (06:42):
Like that's alarming.

Speaker 2 (06:44):
Yeah, I don't disagree.

Speaker 3 (06:48):
I don't know where he goes from here.

Speaker 4 (06:50):
I mean, again, this is a guy who was like
in the Heisman mix, he was on TV, huge deal
of Colorado. He's not running the scout team. Come, I
don't And I mean, and that's not really that's going
to be tough for him.

Speaker 1 (07:01):
Man, Yeah, I I you know, in his college teammate,
Travis Hunter is nothing but talent, Like he is just unbelievable.
But Travis didn't get the play that Shador did in college.
Some of it you know obviously the dad, but it
is I don't remember ever there being a quarterback who

(07:22):
The day before the draft, the people I trust, all
of them publicly or privately, said yeah, he may fall
to mid second, late second, but he probably get drafted somewhere.
And he is now in Week two, not even with
the scout team. In my life, that's never happen. Kenny
Pickett wasn't good, but multiple teams gave him a shot.

Speaker 4 (07:44):
Right right, right, I mean, shadur Remember this is the
guy who was a starter at Colorado, a starter at
Jackson State, a fairly big time recruit, and that this
has got to be tough for him. I just hope,
you know, hey, man, stay grinding, don't don't lose the
plot here, stay focused, And that's going to be difficult
for him.

Speaker 3 (08:00):
And he's a young guy with money and.

Speaker 4 (08:02):
Fame, and I just so I hope it turns out
well for j.

Speaker 2 (08:05):
Mack with a news.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Well that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
herd Line news.

Speaker 1 (08:12):
The biggest one o'clock game, and I mean Detroit hosting
Chicago feels huge. Chicago can go. Oh and two, they
got the Cowboys, the Raiders and the bye coming up.
And I don't think this year we're judging the Bears
on wins as much as we are. They've got to
save this quarterback. The Lions have the Ravens. Next week

(08:35):
you go oh and two into Baltimore, it's oh to
three and you got about three percent chance to make
the playoffs. But I don't know. I mean, I you
watched him. I watched him. All the data tells you
Caleb's struggling on overthrows, on the operations pre snap, on
accuracy on the layups. Dave wantstat on if he believes

(08:58):
Caleb can be saved by Ben Johnson.

Speaker 8 (09:02):
I think it's gonna work because of the style of
offense and head coach, Ben said. Ben Johnson said afterwards,
who I'm a fan of? He said afterwards, I should
have run the ball more. They have thirty five passes
and only twenty runs. Okay, you know, so how do
you help a young quarterback. Everybody knows that you take
some pressure off him by running the ball and then

(09:23):
those play action passes.

Speaker 2 (09:26):
Yeah, it is j Mack for the record.

Speaker 1 (09:29):
I don't know what the props are on Caleb Williams,
but I also think this is important and I believe
this to be true. Watch Ceedee Lamb get a bunch
of looks against the Giants, and watch Swift in the
run game for Chicago. Be really what Chicago tries to do.
I think if you go look at that first series

(09:49):
and that first game for Caleb, I think coach wants
that talked about this.

Speaker 2 (09:54):
They threw the ball too much.

Speaker 1 (09:55):
So I honestly believe the under on Caleb's pass it.
I think they're going to come in. They're going to
lean on physicality. I mean, they spent all that money
on the guard, Juny Drew Dolman, the center, and Jonah Jackson,
and they didn't really use them. So my take is
watch Chicago go into a heavy, heavy, thirty five carry,

(10:21):
run oriented performance.

Speaker 4 (10:22):
So the problem with that Colin is didn't Caleb start
ten for ten and they look good early like they.

Speaker 1 (10:28):
Didn't run the ball at all, though consistently Minnesota did.

Speaker 4 (10:31):
So my big concern obviously with the Chicago team is
they offense looked fine early, the defense looked fine early,
and then halftime happened and adjustments were made, and Minnesota
won the second half handily. I mean the fourth quarter,
like imagine that snowball rolling downhill. Fourth quarter, you can't
stop JJ McCarthy. Now you've got to go to Detroit
play an angry Lions team coming off a loss, and

(10:54):
they look bad. You don't think Goff and Samara Saint Brown,
everybody's locked in and they're gonna steamroll this Bears defense.

Speaker 3 (11:01):
This could get squorely.

Speaker 4 (11:02):
I mean, if we come in Monday and it's thirty
five thirteen lions, I'm not going to be surprised. Would
you be shocked if the Bears lost by twenty I would?

Speaker 2 (11:11):
I would. I think they're going to lose by a touchdown.

Speaker 1 (11:14):
It's funny because I had Tom Brady on yesterday and
I asked Brady, I said, you know, my take on
all these young quarterbacks that had seven on seven coaching,
seven on seven camps and private coaching, is that I
give them until Thanksgiving year two. I used to believe
you give a quarterback three years, then you make a decision.
To me, these guys have way more throws Thanksgiving year two.

(11:37):
That's when I raised my hand private room upstairs, GM
coach coordinator and say it's not going to work.

Speaker 2 (11:42):
I asked Tom if that was fair.

Speaker 6 (11:44):
There's a lot of people who have no idea what
they're doing when they're tasked with coaching a quarterback or
calling an offense. So are you saying I mean, just
like we'd rank quarterbacks one to thirty two. Do you
rank offensive coordinators one to thirty two? What if you're
a quarterback and you go to a system and they
don't teach you coverage. They don't teach you cover one,
they don't teach you cover two, they don't teach you

(12:05):
cover four, they don't have personnel meetings. They give you
an offensive game plan and they go all right, but
here you go figure it out, and after Thanksgiving of
your second year, they're going, man, this guy just can't
play anymore.

Speaker 1 (12:17):
The over under on pass attempts is thirty two and
a half. I'd take the under on that.

Speaker 3 (12:21):
If he's throwing thirty two times, they're probably losing.

Speaker 9 (12:24):
Tone.

Speaker 1 (12:24):
Well, here's the thing. He may have to over Underthrowing
totals are tricky.

Speaker 2 (12:30):
I don't.

Speaker 1 (12:31):
That's not a prop bet I oh wait a minute,
I will, because if you trail, it changes a game plan.
If you're down fourteen late third, you're going to throw
the ball six out of seven snaps and you don't
want to.

Speaker 3 (12:41):
Well, fourteen is not It's not over at fourteen.

Speaker 4 (12:44):
I mean, hell, the Bills came back down fourteen, the
Vikings were down.

Speaker 3 (12:49):
I think thirteen.

Speaker 4 (12:49):
But don't you say, if Jalen Hurts has to throw
over thirty times, the Eagles are in trouble.

Speaker 3 (12:54):
I think the scene definitely applies to chick Caleb Williams.

Speaker 4 (12:57):
If he's throwing thirty two times, they're probably losing the I.

Speaker 1 (13:00):
Mean, well, think about how good Jalen Hurts is. Right
since their bye, the Eagles bye last year, no team
has thrown fewer passes than the Philadelphia Eagles with Aj
Brown and Devonte Smith and Dallas Goddard. Think about that,
as good as Hurts is and as great as the
weapons are, and it's the best pass blocking line in

(13:23):
the league. Philadelphia with an offensive coach. Since their bye,
throws it fewer than any team in the league. And
the point being is, if you don't you know, if
you've got a quarterback that you like and he's athletic,
but you don't always love him in the pocket, the
Eagles don't throw the ball.

Speaker 3 (13:42):
Okay, hold on, hold.

Speaker 4 (13:43):
On, I would like our stat guys to strip out
forget full game. I want to see first half when
games are close. We know the Eagles were blowing out
folks last year, and so fourth quarter they're not throwing
any passes at all. They're just running and grinding clock.
I want to see first half, Colin. Are the Eagles throwing.

Speaker 3 (14:00):
Less than everybody? First? Maybe that's accurate, but again fourth.

Speaker 4 (14:03):
Quarter Eagles last year, I mean they were top.

Speaker 3 (14:05):
Three team in the league.

Speaker 9 (14:06):
You know.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
Yeah.

Speaker 7 (14:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays
and noon eastern nine am Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and the iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 2 (14:17):
Hey what's up everybody?

Speaker 10 (14:18):
It's me three time pro bowler LeVar Arrington and I
couldn't be more excited to announce a podcast called Up
on Game?

Speaker 2 (14:26):
What is Up on Game? You asked, along with my
fellow pro bowler TJ.

Speaker 10 (14:30):
Hutschman, Zada and Super Bowl champion Yup, that's right, Plexico Birds.
You can only name a show with that type of
talent on it. Up on Game We're going to be
sharing our real life experiences loaded with teachable moments. Listen
to Up on Game with Me LeVar Arrington, TJ. Hutschman,
Zada and Plexico Birds on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts

(14:54):
or wherever you get your podcast from.

Speaker 1 (14:58):
And with that, Urban Mind is now joining us live
Fox Sports College Football analysts.

Speaker 2 (15:05):
There, there you go. You're all ready to go. I
call it HI.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
So you're doing the Oregon, You're there. Oregon's plan Northwestern.
I think you and I have talked about this. I
always think there's about four college football programs, Ohio State, LSU, Georgia.
I don't know if BAM is anymore with the NIL,
but I think Ohio State's in that class. I don't
think Michigan is even with hardball until the very end,
they had an older group. But I think there's about

(15:31):
three to four elite recruiters.

Speaker 3 (15:34):
Oregon.

Speaker 1 (15:35):
I never really thought of them, even when they were
winning the last five years. But I wonder if NIL,
when you watch the tape of Oregon in the first
couple of weeks, has Oregon moved into with all that
California national recruiting?

Speaker 2 (15:49):
Have they?

Speaker 1 (15:50):
I mean, they've always recruited well, but not Ohio State
or Georgia LSU. Well, do you still think they're doing
it mostly with a little less talent than three or
four big No.

Speaker 9 (16:01):
I agree with you that they are officially a blue
blood team in my mind when you watch them play,
the consistency and here's me, and you've talked to us
about this many times, Colin. Their offensive and defensive line
are legit. Now. We played the Oregon in the National
Championship in twenty fourteen and I want to say they
average just under three hundred pounds on the offensive and

(16:22):
defensive lines. Now it's almost three hundred and twenty pounds.
So they're finding the guys that And once again, Colin
me and You've talked about this one hundred times that
the Pac twelve for many years they just couldn't find
the offensive a defense alignment. That's the difference between them
and the SEC. They are officially now in my mind
of blue Blood. You stick them in the SEC and

(16:43):
obviously the Big Ten they're as good as any team
in the country.

Speaker 1 (16:46):
So I was thinking about Ohio State and it's weird
how this works. So you had success at Bowling Green
and then Utah, but when you own a Florida in
Ohio State, the pressure rams up. I mean, talk radio,
the newspapers, there's a million people that you're act.

Speaker 2 (17:00):
It's hard.

Speaker 1 (17:01):
But I did feel like when Ryan Day and the
Buckeyes lost to Michigan. I remember that game. Next was
Tennessee and I thought, boy, he's got to win this
thing and he's got to win it impressively. From that
point forward, the Tennessee game until today, it feels like
to me that they're different. It feels like as a coach,

(17:25):
I guess I'll.

Speaker 2 (17:25):
Ask this question.

Speaker 1 (17:26):
When you won your Natty at Ohio State or or Florida,
do you coach a little differently? Do you feel you
can take a few more big swings because it validates
your system, your program?

Speaker 2 (17:39):
Or is that just media guys talking?

Speaker 1 (17:40):
But when I talk to Ryan and I look at
Ohio State, there is a confidence.

Speaker 2 (17:47):
There is no question.

Speaker 1 (17:48):
When I watch Ohio State now, I'm like, oh, that's
currently the best college football program in America. And I
didn't feel that pre Michigan loss. I'm like, many wrong.
Is any of that land for you at all?

Speaker 9 (18:05):
It does, And I talked to coach Day quite often,
and he does. He sounds like a different person. He's legitimate,
you know, He's always been legitimate in my mind, but
now the world's mind. He's won a national title. There's
very few guys that have done that. The difference with me,
and I'm anxious to watch how he handles it, because
I think Kirby's handled a well I've seen Nick Saban
handed it well, I didn't you know everything Once we

(18:26):
won that first national title, it was like the pressure
was unbelievable to repeat, repeat, repeat, and I don't. It's
remains to be seen as they continue through their journey
with Coach Day and the Buckeyes, but I see a
much different Coach Day, a much more relaxed not relaxed,
but much more confident. And it seems like people are
off his back finally, and I mean, look at his

(18:47):
winning one lost record. He's now a Nashier Championship coacher.
Is the one issue that he's got to deal with
at the end of the year, and that's the Wolf Raines.

Speaker 2 (18:55):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (18:55):
The Nick Saban said something this week and we talked
about it about a year go on the show, is
when the nil exploded. I'd said this on the air.
I said a lot of times in the South, your
biggest or second biggest booster, because a lot of SEC
schools do not have huge enrollment. I think Florida does,
but a lot of them don't.

Speaker 2 (19:15):
In that that.

Speaker 1 (19:16):
Your first or second biggest booster in an SEC program
could be a very you know, a very successful car dealer.
But if you look at Big ten schools. We have
forty thousand people. That's a lot of graduates. They go
into the market, bigger schools, bigger endowments. I mean, the
richest guy in the world this week, Ellison, I think
he's a Is he a Michigan grad? Yeah, Larry Ellison's kid.

Speaker 2 (19:39):
I think it is.

Speaker 1 (19:40):
And I'm like, it's just a reality. You got Seattle
in the conference. Now in the Big Ten you got
Phil Knight money, you got USC money, Penn State gets obviously,
Ohio State's loaded, Michigan's got massive endowment. And Saban said,
we used to think we had a geographic advantage, we
had more good players. But Saban said, I think the

(20:00):
nil the money advantage is the guys up north.

Speaker 2 (20:04):
Do you believe that? Is that what you're hearing?

Speaker 9 (20:06):
I read that quote from coach Saban, and I believe it.

Speaker 2 (20:09):
You know I didn't.

Speaker 9 (20:10):
I think this has been a result that not many
people expected. Myself included that it would only bring other
conferences or the Big Ten on level with the SEC.
There's many, including myself right now, said they are better
than the SEC, which five ten years ago, there's no
chance that's going to happen.

Speaker 2 (20:27):
So I think it is.

Speaker 9 (20:29):
And this is something that I never thought through until recently, Like,
wait a minute, he's right that these big you know, Columbus,
it's endless the amount of money that you can get
that you have Detroit right next to Ann Arbor, you know,
the one school of state colleges out there by themselves,
but they have Philadelphia and Pittsburgh.

Speaker 2 (20:45):
So I think there's a lot to it.

Speaker 9 (20:47):
You know what's funny is one of the coaches once
said is that the SEC used to pay players, and
everybody pays players. So I'm not saying that happened, but
that's what they're saying.

Speaker 2 (20:57):
Yeah, well that's what I'm saying. So I'll say, Okay.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
So I saw something this week. I love Sark, I
really do. I think he's great. But ars Manning's planning
the game, and I saw him wins during the game.
And my take, his football players wins all the time,
you know what I mean, you get hit, you wins.
But one of the reporters came out and said to Sark,
you know, one of your players kind of wins during
the game, and Sark kind of got, you know, he
kind of got after the guy, and I got and
I thought to myself, listen, man, before you win that Natty.

(21:26):
There's a lot of pressure at Texas. I would argue
the toughest job in college football. Take coaches out, maybe
quarterback at Ohio State and quarterback at Texas.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
And I feel like with Sark has a lot of
donor money.

Speaker 1 (21:42):
And when you watch Sark kind of get riled up
at that press conference, do you think he's feeling a
little bit of pressure.

Speaker 2 (21:47):
I do.

Speaker 9 (21:48):
I think it comes with that job, and I feel
I feel the same about Sark as you do so
much respect for that guy. But I kind of saw
that interaction with the reporter and I wondered, why, you know,
that's a legitimate question. If he's hurting, then just tell
him hurt it. If he's not, so you know, he's fine,
But I don't so I don't know if there's something
behind door number two with that. I saw the same

(22:09):
thing on video. But you're right, you know, players wins
all the time. But you know, I do believe that
was a legitimate question, you know, is your quarterback hurt?
Because I actually heard that from someone at Fox. They say, yeah,
he's a little dinged up. But you know, I didn't
see that during the High State game because they ran
him quite a bit. So yeah, I don't understand that interaction,
and maybe there is something there.

Speaker 1 (22:29):
Finally, Bryce Underwood's the real deal. But Oklahoma's got more
juniors and seniors, Oklahoma's got a great quarterback. Oklahoma was
the much better team.

Speaker 2 (22:37):
How much? Final question?

Speaker 1 (22:39):
When you have a star quarterback as a freshman right
out of high school, would you be worried that you
how much? Can you just let him play? Or would
you still kind of feel like, Hey, he's a kid,
he's going to learn.

Speaker 2 (22:51):
I don't want to put him out to the wolves.

Speaker 1 (22:52):
What would you do if you had Bryce Underwood and
your Michigan He's going to be great?

Speaker 9 (22:57):
You know, I just I even said that on Big
Ten Network. I say, pump the brake. He's going to
be fine. Freshman quarterbacks don't go into Norman, Oklahoma and
coach and play against the Brett Bendables defense. I've tried
that with veteran quarterbacks. He's that good of a defensive coach.
You put that on the road in Norman and against
great players at Oklahom which they look like a much
better team. What did you think was going to happen.

(23:19):
That's going to happen. It's not his job to go
win that game. You know whose job it is. It's
the other players around him, and they didn't step up.
Don't don't put this one on Bryce Underwood. Put them
on the defense and the rest of the offense. You know,
where was the run game? Oh, you can't say that
the quarterback lost that game or that freshman quarterback is
going to struggle that game. Everyone else has got to

(23:39):
elevate and they didn't do it. Urban Meyer on a Friday.

Speaker 1 (23:42):
We're going to be getting Urban on Friday's lot and
I absolutely love it.

Speaker 2 (23:45):
It's great.

Speaker 1 (23:45):
Seen you and have fun tomorrow. I may just stop
by Evanston just up the road from where we're at
right now.

Speaker 9 (23:50):
Coach, thanks a beautiful setting here in northwestern Oh.

Speaker 2 (23:55):
It is absolutely stunning.

Speaker 1 (23:57):
And with that we take a break. Jmack returns or
his picks of the week.

Speaker 7 (24:01):
Neck be sure to catch live editions of the Herd
weekdays at noon Easter not a Empacific.

Speaker 1 (24:10):
It's only week two of the NFL season. The stakes
are already rising. Bounce back performances. What to do with
the Dolphins Patriots underachieved Miami, New England. Nope, I didn't
pick it. Jmack didn't either. Are you ready for tomorrow's headlines?

(24:31):
Let's yeah, I think I think we have one in common.
All right, tomorrow's headlines today, let's make some NFL predictions.
Forty nine Ers at the Saints. I'm surprised you took
this game because the Niners we don't even know.

Speaker 2 (24:44):
I mean they got six starters that are banged up.

Speaker 4 (24:47):
Yeah, you know, not a great move by me. I
like seven games on the board, So this was kind
of a late edition. But I'm rocking with my guys.
The headline for forty nine Ers versus the Saints will
be I'm loving it. Take bite into Big Mac. Yes,
I think mac Jones. Listen, I'm not gonna call him
being the next Geno Smith or Baker Mayfield or Sam Darnold,

(25:10):
but there is enough talent in mac Jones that I
think can marry that with Kyle Shanahan's offense and schemes.

Speaker 3 (25:17):
This could be a good performance for mac Jones.

Speaker 4 (25:19):
Okay, despite the injuries, I see Juwan Jennings not practicing obviously,
kittle out, I think mac Jones is going to be
able to move the football. Do you remember when Kyle
Shanahan had a backup name Nick Mullins. He showed up
and it was like, who's this guy? Shanahan can do that,
Kevin O'Connell. These great coaches can find backups to come
in and dominate. And oh, by the way, Saints offensive

(25:41):
line still beat up. They did not show well last week.

Speaker 2 (25:43):
Colin.

Speaker 4 (25:44):
I just punched into one of your favorite search machines,
chat GVT. How has Alvin Kamara done against the Niners defense?

Speaker 3 (25:52):
Here we go three games, last three games.

Speaker 4 (25:54):
Eight carries fifteen yards, seven carries thirteen yards, thirteen carries yards.
He sense a theme. He's not gonna be able to
run a lot against solid company. Give me the Niners
here on the road.

Speaker 1 (26:05):
Tomorrow's headlines today. This was a stay away game to
a lot of emotion though. Bears at the Lions. A
man with courage, j Max is gonna make.

Speaker 4 (26:14):
A pick Listen, the week two is big. Don't overreact
to what you saw in week one. We liked the
Lions coming into season. We didn't love them, but we
liked him.

Speaker 3 (26:21):
Now everybody's selling the headline for Lions.

Speaker 4 (26:24):
Bears will be rolling in the deep dish, Ben and
Caleb can't top the charts. I'm selling at that graphic,
just outstanding work. I like Destroit here, Colin. I'm sorry
everything that I see about Goff's history against the Bears.
He's won five of six, put up some really good
numbers in the process. I didn't see anything overwhelming from

(26:46):
the Bears, especially in the fourth quarter stopping JJ McCarthy,
which they couldn't that.

Speaker 3 (26:51):
I think they're gonna be able to now go on.

Speaker 4 (26:53):
The road in the indoor fast track and slow down
or Detroit team, Colin. You know the Lions are gonna
be fired up. I'm a Rossain Brown. We had the
clip in herdline this week. He's like cursing, we're taking
down Ben Johnson. This is a big, big game for
the Lions and at home. I like golfing Company, and
this could get away from Caleb and Ben over under

(27:13):
Tyson bageent fourth quarter passes thrown, Colin.

Speaker 1 (27:17):
If this is a blowout, give me the Lions here comfortably.
Tomorrow's headlines today. I think we'll get agreement on this.
Eagles at the regressing Chiefs.

Speaker 4 (27:27):
So I'm working with the producers. You know, during the
week they're like, Jay, we need one more. I'm like,
I can't decide. Let me go big, Colin. The headline
for Eagles Chiefs will be under the feather Birds give
Chiefs the football flu Oh yeah, Philadelphia Eagles get the win.

Speaker 3 (27:45):
Colin, I've been consistent on this all summer.

Speaker 4 (27:48):
I didn't like what I saw from Kansas City at
the end of last season. I know they got lucky
in the one score games eleven or zero, but they
came out against the Chargers pretty flat, and I just
I don't know where the talent is. You give me
worthy yes or no, it doesn't really matter. I don't
think they've got enough.

Speaker 3 (28:03):
Dudes. I don't like the offensive line.

Speaker 4 (28:05):
And let's be real, Jalen Carter will return everybody's reaction
Colin from Eagles Cowboys with Eagles. Eagles defense didn't look good.
They couldn't slow down Dac. What's going on? Hello, Jalen
Carter maybe their best defensive player who was out for
the entire game. So now you put him in the middle,
and suddenly Nolan Smith off the edge, who looks real, Bendy,

(28:26):
I think the Eagles are good now, Listen, Kansas City
probably comes out hair on fire. Yeah, coming back from
Razilly get to early league. Come on, and I think
the Eagles come back and beat him. And I got
Philly winning and casey oho and two tomorrow's headlines.

Speaker 1 (28:39):
Today, this will be a hard game, just stumach, regardless
of the outcome. Not exactly TV Magic Panthers at Arizona.

Speaker 2 (28:48):
I think this was the one game. This was my.

Speaker 1 (28:52):
Last pick that I dropped, so I liked Arizona in
this spot.

Speaker 2 (28:55):
This was my last.

Speaker 1 (28:57):
This was my six. Now my six pick last week
was the Vikings Monday Night football over the Bears.

Speaker 2 (29:02):
That was right this. I liked Arizona here, but it
didn't make the cut.

Speaker 4 (29:05):
Yeah, no, I can understand that. I mean, hell, very
few people are interested in the Carolina Panthers and Arizona
didn't look great last week.

Speaker 3 (29:12):
However, the headline.

Speaker 4 (29:14):
For Arizona Carolina will be Bryce Crispy treat and then snap,
crackle and drop. Listen man, Colin. They came out against
a Jacksonville defense that was bad last year and they
couldn't do a damn thing. Then you get like the
lightning delay which really delayed things, and they couldn't do
anything much after that. Colin I'm not selling Bryce Young.

(29:34):
I know some people who know him. He's a great guy.
I remember you sat next to him on a flight.
I like this kid a lot. I just don't like
this team, and Arizona did not look great putting away
New Orleans last week.

Speaker 3 (29:46):
That being said, big revenge spot.

Speaker 4 (29:48):
Remember last year in December, Arizona went to Carolina and
they were Arizona was in the mix for a playoff
spot and they really had two turnovers that killed them.
Carolina won in overtime and that kind of ended their season.
I think Arizona gets revenge here. Kyler Murray was ill
last week and looked at it took five sacks. I
think I think they're fine. I think Arizona in Fantasy
Survivor load up, they get to win here.

Speaker 1 (30:11):
Finally, Tomorrow's headlines today, this was another game. I think
I know where you're going on this and I think
this could be your strongest pick.

Speaker 2 (30:19):
Bucks at Texan.

Speaker 3 (30:20):
Yeah, this is a big one. I like Houston a lot.

Speaker 4 (30:22):
Here the headline for Texans Tampa Bay on Monday, and
I will be bucked around and found out tall Texans
teach in lessons.

Speaker 3 (30:31):
I like the Houston Texans to bounce back here.

Speaker 4 (30:33):
The injury report isn't as bad as it appeared against
the Rams. Remember last week they had some guys beat
up Houston's good Man and I talked about some of
the stats.

Speaker 3 (30:42):
This week.

Speaker 4 (30:42):
Tampa Bay gave up over one hundred and ninety yards
after the catch against Atlanta. Okay, Nico Collins the company
could be feasting this week. I didn't like what I
saw on Tampa despite the win over the Falcons. That
I'm lower than market on Tampa this season. I think
Houston's defense really annihilates Tampa. By the way, Tristan Wurf's
Colin is practicing, so that's a potentially good sign they're

(31:05):
gonna need him against will Anderson. And by the way,
will Anderson and company that defense is not far behind Denver.
So I'm on the Texans a minus two and a half.
This will definitely touch three by kickoff. I like the
Texans to win.

Speaker 2 (31:17):
Yeah, I like your picks a lot.

Speaker 1 (31:20):
Now you're making me feel like I should have taken
Panthers Cardinals.

Speaker 4 (31:23):
Well, I probably should have dumped Denver in there as well.
I like your Denver pick. I like Atlanta against Minnesota.

Speaker 1 (31:29):
I'm surprised you didn't take the Titans against the beat
up round.

Speaker 4 (31:32):
Yeah, well listen, this is wins and I did pitch
that and they were like, well, we don't want to
just talk spread. I did bet that obviously, but I
don't know that the Titans win out right, So yeah,
I'm on Titans as well. All right, you and the
staff battling, you know, Colin, this could be a multiple
jet ski weekend for both of us.

Speaker 3 (31:51):
I like our picks a lot man.

Speaker 1 (31:53):
Yeah, no, it's a yeah, you know, I'm doing occasional.
I won't do it every week maybe, but I'm doing
a casion no props now because I just think people
are betting props. I started looking in the offseason. It just,
you know, people how much they've bet props and over unders,
and that's like a big part of what people like
to bet. And I also think it's harder to hit
on a lot of picks because the market's gotten more sophisticated.

(32:16):
I think people out there watching us and fans are
just better, smarter, better than they've ever been. The lines
are tougher. I actually think there's only one line this
week I thought was weird, and I thought the Titans
getting five and a half was a weird line. I
would have guessed that would have been like three to
three and a half. So that's why I made the pick.
I'm like, that feels like not a mistake by Vegas,
but a very better friendly pick to me.

Speaker 4 (32:38):
Well, let's see what's up with the Rams injuries to
the offensive line. Big Friday is a big practice day.
I noticed you didn't do Seahawks and Steelers. That's a
to me, fascinating game. I like Seattle, but a lot
of other people seem to like Pittsburgh.

Speaker 1 (32:54):
I think Pittsburgh because I think Mike Tomlin was humiliated
by that defensive effort. Seattle doesn't have much of an
offense anyway. Seattle is one of those teams that has
kind of one way to win. Run the ball, keep
the score low. They don't have a number one receiver,
so Seattle has one way to win and Pittsburgh humiliated
by their defensive effort. I think this is a tough, physical,

(33:17):
twenty three to twenty, low scoring game, but I don't
know who wins. But I don't think there's going to
be a lot of points. And with that we are done.
Urban Meyer stop by Tom Brady This week stop by
Dave Wnstein.

Speaker 2 (33:28):
How good was that?

Speaker 1 (33:28):
All that info on the Bears and the Packers and
the Dolphins.

Speaker 2 (33:33):
We'll see it Monday. It's the hurt
