is which player will have the most rushing yard this week?
Speaker 4 (00:38):
James Cook, Kashawn.
Speaker 3 (00:40):
Jenkins, Christian McCaffrey or Saquon Barkley Colin I know the answer.
Speaker 5 (00:44):
Who you got?
Speaker 1 (00:45):
I like James Cook. They're gonna get some possessions. You know,
when you take a good team up a couple of
stinging losses, they play mad. I think Buffalo is gonna
play well this weekend. Albert Breer covering the NFL money
More in quarterback for over twenty years. Hey, let's the
Ravens suddenly. I mean we saw last night Albert just
(01:09):
getting Joe Mault back at left tackle. The Chargers could
run the ball to the left side, and Herbert was magic.
The Ravens are bringing back the band this weekend at home.
I think they're going to go on a heater. What
do you think?
Speaker 6 (01:25):
Yeah, I mean, I think there's been a lot of
those narratives out there column what's wrong with the Ravens.
Look at the inactive list, you'll see exactly what's wrong
with the Ravens. Lamar Jackson was out, Kyle Hamilton was out,
Brokwan Smith was out. And now they've got a chance
to walk in. Now they've dealt themselves. They dug themselves
quite a hole to dig out of at one in
five and I'm gonna read the schedule, de I have
(01:45):
it in front of me. They play the Bears this week,
then they're at Miami, at Minnesota, at Cleveland, and then they.
Speaker 5 (01:51):
Play the Jets.
Speaker 6 (01:52):
There's a shot, and I'm not saying it's the lamp,
but there's a pretty good shot you can get through
that at five and zero, yep. And then on Thanksgiving
night have the Bengals coming in, who could be playing
really well at that point too, with Joe Flackoak quarterback
with a six and five record, and then they go
into a critical stretch where they play the Bengals, the Steelers,
then the Bengals again and the Patriots and the Packers.
Speaker 5 (02:14):
So the schedule to stiffened down the stretch.
Speaker 6 (02:16):
But they've got a real chance here to build some momentum,
to get Lamar Jackson back in the groove, Havero, Kwan
Smith and Kyle Hamilton back in the middle of that defense.
You have Ronnie Stanley getting healthier at left tackle. I
would not dismiss the Ravens as a contender.
Speaker 2 (02:31):
Again.
Speaker 6 (02:32):
I think most of their issues just to stem to
what was on the inactive list over the last months.
That's why they haven't played as well. And I think
they've got a real chance here to go on a
run based on Hewa.
Speaker 5 (02:43):
Their schedule sets up you and.
Speaker 1 (02:44):
I agree, So I think one of the real fascinating
games Dallas, it's a true serum game against Denver. So
they beat the Giants and the Jets, and they tied
the Packers and almost beat Philly and then they get
shelled by the Bears and lose a fourth quarter lead
to the Panthers. So we don't know what they are.
Denver's got their own issues. They can't hit the long
ball they trail all the time. So it's funny. The
(03:07):
two best rosters in the NFL, I would argue are Eagles, Denver,
maybe Detroit, and both the Eagles and the Broncos don't
feel good right now about their offense. All your sourcing.
I know that Sean loves bon Knicks, but it has
been really much like Jalen, really uneven for the Broncos offense.
(03:29):
Why do you think? What do you hear?
Speaker 6 (03:33):
Yeah, I mean I think there's a year of tape
on them, and I think that's definitely a factor in
how they're deploying bon Knicks, and teams have a better
handle on how to deal with them now, you know, certainly,
I think you know, you look at the roster and
I think their skill position talent is good, not great.
Courtland Sutton, Marvin Mems are good players. Are they great players?
Speaker 5 (03:52):
I don't know.
Speaker 6 (03:53):
You know what they've got in the backfield with Ak
Dobbins and RJ.
Speaker 5 (03:56):
Harvey.
Speaker 6 (03:58):
You know, they really need bo Nicks to go out
there and play point guard at a high level because
they're balanced.
Speaker 5 (04:03):
They don't have superstars, and you.
Speaker 6 (04:06):
Know, I think the encouraging thing is down the stretch
of some of these games. Down the stretch of the
Giants game, down the stretch of the Philly game, we've
seen bon Knicks make some big time throws like bon
nicks Is two throws at the end of that Giants
game were as big as big gets, right, Like there's
the one right down the pipe to Marvin Mems.
Speaker 5 (04:23):
He finds them sitting.
Speaker 6 (04:24):
Down on the zone and then he hits Sutton on
the sideline and man coverage to set up the game
winning field goal.
Speaker 5 (04:30):
How do you make that happen more consistently? I think
that's what they're searching.
Speaker 6 (04:33):
For, and this is going to be a fascinating week
to see it because this should be like at least
when you're talking about that singular matchup Denver offense versus
Dallas defense, this should be where Denver kit has a
chance to get themselves back on track.
Speaker 5 (04:48):
I mean, I think this is a.
Speaker 6 (04:49):
Real strength versus strength game where you've got an outstanding
Dallas offense with Ada, with a quarterback in Dak Prescott
playing at an MVP level, two receivers and Lamb and
Pick who have number one type ability going against the
Denver defense. That's fantastic, right, So we have strength and
strength there, I think on the other side, now Denver's
got that opportunity to really assert themselves offensively.
Speaker 5 (05:12):
It'll be interesting to see whether or not they can
do it.
Speaker 2 (05:14):

Speaker 1 (05:53):
So, you know, I look at Aaron facing the Packers.
There was a lot maine that there. When he came
back from that darkness retreat, he was surprised they let
him go. How he was surprised, I don't know, but
it was time. Jordan Love had been in the building.
You want to get a couple of years on that
rookie deal. Do you think Aaron and the packers are
(06:16):
in a tense place or time heals all wounds with him.
Speaker 2 (06:23):
I think.
Speaker 6 (06:25):
I think Aaron's relationships with a lot of people in
that building are actually still pretty good.
Speaker 5 (06:31):
Here's what I respect about Aaron.
Speaker 6 (06:33):
And I will say this like he's not perfect, right,
but what I've always respected about Aaron is that when
he punches, he punches up.
Speaker 5 (06:40):
He doesn't punch down.
Speaker 6 (06:41):
Generally, his issues have been either with the head coach
or with front office people.
Speaker 5 (06:47):
So like when you're talking about like his relationships.
Speaker 6 (06:50):
In the building in general, like the trainers, the equipment guys,
the white staff, like some of his teammates down the line,
I think all those people still love him. The coaching staff,
he had a good relationship with Matt Lafleur. Matt Lafleur,
I mean, for all the great things that he's done
over seven years in Green Bay, maybe the most important
(07:10):
thing he did was manage the relationship and be the
buffer between.
Speaker 5 (07:14):
Aaron Rodgers in the front office. So I think ninety.
Speaker 6 (07:18):
Five percent of Aaron Rodgers' relationships are still really good.
Speaker 5 (07:22):
But then there are a couple that weren't.
Speaker 6 (07:24):
And so Brian Gudukunz is still there as the general manager.
Speaker 5 (07:27):
That was one relationship that was certainly strained.
Speaker 6 (07:30):
Mark Murphy was the president. He's not the president anymore,
so he's gone. So like I think there's gonna be
there's gonna be a lot of handshakes and hugs for
Aaron Rodgers waiting on the other sideline on Sunday when
the Packers come into Pittsburgh and then maybe when the
game starts, a few glares up to the suitet level
(07:51):
if he can throw a touchdown pass or too.
Speaker 1 (07:54):
Yeah, that's funny. I gotta tell you. The deadline is
it's very tantalizing. My take has always been if you're
a super Bowl worthy team or you have a star
quarterback Buffalo old Matt Stafford, Like I love the Green
(08:18):
Bay Mica move. Not a trade deadline move. That's a
big swing. That's a super Bowl roster. Then I hear about,
well the Giants want to like slow down, like the
Raiders want to slow down. That's just job your retainment, Like,
is there if I said to you one or two
teams that you're like, I mean, I think Buffalo maybe
(08:39):
if they win convincingly this weekend. No and maybe they're
getting people back. I just feel like Buffalo needs a
perimeter weapon and an interior defensive weapon. I don't know why.
I just think Buffalo looks at Kansas City, Albert, you
know how this game works. They're watching the Chiefs thinking
we don't match up right now with Kansas City.
Speaker 5 (08:57):
Yeah, and Kansas City's playing really well.
Speaker 6 (08:58):
I think Patrick Mahoonmes might be the MVP of the
league right now. They're playing great football. I think, you know,
a lot of us can see this coming. Now They've
got Rashie Rice back. I think the Chiefs are speaking
of teams going on a heater. I think they're going
to go on one now too.
Speaker 1 (09:14):
Yeah.
Speaker 6 (09:14):
I think there's a lot of pressure on people in
Buffalo because they've paid a lot of that core now.
You know, So now you've got the guys that you're
locked in with. This is sort of the two point
zero era for Josh Allen in Buffalo, and so you
need guys like at Aliburn and Greg Russeau and Trell
Bernard and Khalil Shakir.
Speaker 5 (09:33):
You know, you need those guys to perform at a
high level. Could they use.
Speaker 6 (09:37):
Another weapon to make their offense a little bit more dynamic.
I think if that was available to them, they would
certainly look at it. And if it was a young
number one or a guy with potential to become number one,
then I think they would explore it. So who is that,
you know? I think you call New Orleans about Chris o'lave.
I think you call Minnesota about Jordan Addison just to
see if there's any interest at all. Because those guys
(09:58):
are coming close to the end into their rookie deals.
I think both those guys wind up staying where they're at.
I think both those guys wind up extended. But those
are guys I think you would look at, if you're
Buffalo and say, maybe we need to get a little
bit more dynamic on the outside. Another name I would
watch a little bit further down the line for Buffalo.
It could be Rashid Shahed from New Orleans. The one
(10:20):
thing Buffalo doesn't have on offense right now is a
real field stretcher, you know. I think if you look
at the way that other teams have played them over
the course of the first month and a half of
the season, they're not as concerned about Josh Allen getting
the ball down the field, So bringing in a burner
like Shaheed I think could be an interesting play if
you're Buffalo.
Speaker 5 (10:39):
The Rams are another team I would watch on this front.
You know, they've.
Speaker 6 (10:42):
Been aggressive in the back and they've been aggressive in
the past. They've really kept their powder dry with the
draft picks. They've now got a lot of draft capital
to work with. They've got a good young Corra players.
Could they maybe at a corner. I think there could
be an interesting move there for the Rams.
Speaker 5 (10:58):
If they're willing to take a swing. Historically they've been
willing to take swings.
Speaker 1 (11:02):
Hey, one more question. I know the game's over. They
flirted with Aaron, They wanted Darnold, but not at that price.
They had Daniel Jones in the building. They settled for
Carson Wentz. What I mean the messaging on JJ McCarthy,
like Kevin O'Connell after the game. I'm not trying to
reach I don't want to say something that is not true,
(11:25):
but man, it's got a smoke fire feel to it,
doesn't it. Or is he still really nursing an injury.
Speaker 6 (11:32):
They're still trying to figure it out, figure out what
they've gotten him, you know, And I think that's just
the reality the situation. He hasn't played enough, you know,
And so look here's the timeline, right, So on Tuesday morning,
they get him out there.
Speaker 5 (11:44):
They put him out there a practice last week.
Speaker 6 (11:46):
On Tuesday, they get him out there in the practice field,
he says he doesn't feel quite right.
Speaker 5 (11:52):
They make the decision, we're just going to wait another week.
Speaker 6 (11:56):
And really the reason why is if JJ McCarthy had
fifty or a hundred starts, they would look at it
and say, yeah, it makes sense to hobble him out there.
He's better than Carson Wantz even at eighty percent. Let's
just throw him out there. But you know, as it
stands right now, I think the important thing for Kevin O'Connell,
right or wrong, and what he's doing and trying to
develop JJ McCarthy is they want to build his confidence up.
(12:19):
And they felt like, you know, and facing jesse Mentor's
defense on the road on a short week, they could
do more damage by good by just forcing him out there.
Speaker 5 (12:29):
So they decide to.
Speaker 6 (12:32):
Play it safe on this one, and they're going to
start him against Detroit, which is a heck of a
way for him to come back, right, And they're going
to give him some runway, you know. I think Kevin
O'Connell quasi adelpha mensa. All the people in that building
understand they've got a roster that can compete for a
championship over the next few years. So they need to
make a They need to get a really clean read
(12:52):
on who JJ McCarthy is for the rest of the year.
At the same time, they got to give their team
the best answer at quarterback right right now. So I
think JJ comes back in he starts. I think they
expect that he'll get better over the course of the year.
They expect that he can build on that fourth quarter
he had against Chicago. They expect that he can learn
from some of the mistakes that he made against Atlanta,
(13:14):
you know, and then we'll see what he's like. We'll
see how he plays over the next month or two.
But I don't think the book is closed yet on
who JJ McCarthy's going to be as the Vikings quarterback.
Speaker 1 (13:26):
Albert Breer Monday morning, quarterback, Thanks buddy, you got a call. Yeah,
he J mac You, me and Albert Breer wholeheartedly agree
on the Baltimore Ravens at home have to win. It's
not that Chicago doesn't want to win. They don't have
to win. Baltimore's got to go on a four or
(13:47):
five game winning streak. Everybody's back. NFC team struggle with Lamar.
NFC teams mostly get blown out in Baltimore against Lamar,
and they're not getting like a guy back. Just look
at what Joe Alt. Just Joe Alt back to the
Chargers last night. One guy changed their run game and
Herbert had an extra beat. What if you get a
(14:10):
safety and your top linebacker and your left tackle and
Lamar Jackson, that's the difference between losing by ten and
winning by fifteen.
Speaker 4 (14:18):
Yeah, no, No, you're spot on there. Remember Charge.
Speaker 3 (14:21):
I was on the Chargers two weeks ago or last
week against the Colts. They were down I think twenty
three to three at half time.
Speaker 4 (14:26):
Last night.
Speaker 3 (14:27):
The Chargers did not punt like the Little League is crazy.
And you see some of these radical swings, and I
think I'm with you. I think the Eagles really show
up this week, and I think the Ravens do as well.
Speaker 1 (14:37):
J Mackle the news, No, no.
Speaker 2 (14:40):
Turn on the news. This is the Herdline news.
Speaker 4 (14:44):
All right, Colin, we got to go back to Aaron Rodgers.
They got the big Sunday night football.
Speaker 3 (14:48):
Game Packers against Aaron Rodgers and the Steelers. We heard
from the floor, we heard from Rodgers, and now Jordan
Love is going to chime.
Speaker 4 (14:56):
In on his relationship with Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 8 (15:00):
A lot of it is just, you know, I'm saying
good luck throughout the season. You know, a rod text
me and was, you know, talking about some of the
players we've been run in and some of my footwork.
Things like that complimented me, So you know, obviously it's
great to be able to hear from him. You know,
I got so much respect for him, and you know anytime,
you know, he gives me pointers things like that. You know,
all's the stuff you want to you want to get
feedback from a legend like that.
Speaker 1 (15:23):
I'm looking forward to that one. That's gonna be a
good game.
Speaker 4 (15:25):
Yeah, I feel like I need to.
Speaker 3 (15:27):
I know that Rogers is soaking up a lot of
coverage this week.
Speaker 4 (15:30):
I just want to remind people. According to Pro Football.
Speaker 3 (15:33):
Focus, Okay, Aaron Rodgers grading out is the twenty fourth
of thirty six quarterbacks.
Speaker 1 (15:39):
I know you hate it, No, I just don't. I
got nothing against PFF, but that's not what my eyes
tell me. I think ye that, yeah, yeah, I mean
Joe Flacco. My bigger issue is what's wrong with the defense.
It's the highest paid defense for the fourth year in
a row. What's wrong with the defense. Aaron's fine, Aaron's
is well. I thought last week the one time he
wanted to go really deep like Dolto deep, That's not
(16:01):
what this offense is. This offense is fifteen yards in.
The run game is better. And I also think quarterbacks
can elevate an O line, and Aaron has a way
smartly at the offensive line to audible out of trouble,
audible into plays that work. Do you think it's a
coincidence the old line is actually playing well in Pittsburgh
(16:22):
for the first time in six years. I think that's
directly connected to Aaron Rodgers.
Speaker 4 (16:26):
So this is the problem.
Speaker 3 (16:28):
How do you square this with Rogers facing the Jets defense,
which is abysmal. We know that the Seahawks defense, he
did not cook. They lost the Patriots defense. He was
okay in that game, he didn't win it. Remember Patriots
had five turnovers. Then you face the Vikings in London.
As we saw last night. The Vikings defense is a joke. Okay,
the Cleveland Browns defense doesn't travel, didn't show up in
(16:49):
Pittsburgh after.
Speaker 4 (16:50):
The London trip, and then the Bengals last week. He
destroyed them. But the Bengals can't stop anybody.
Speaker 3 (16:55):
So all of a sudden, now you've got to face
a top ten defense, Colin, after not facing one or
five weeks, six weeks. I think this is gonna be
a bit of a rude awakening for Rogers.
Speaker 1 (17:05):
But they didn't. They have a couple extra days to prep, hasn't.
Mike Tomlino has been good Monday night football, extra days
to prep. He's not good on Thursday, but he's good
the following Sunday.
Speaker 4 (17:15):
He's gonna have them all juiced up. That's fine.
Speaker 3 (17:17):
Mike up Parsons might have something to say about that, Colin.
Speaker 4 (17:21):
I like the Packers here. I think we might be
on opposite sides.
Speaker 3 (17:24):
Next up, Saquon Barkley remains one of the big mysteries
in the NFL. Remember last year, two thousand yards from
scrimmage win the Super Bowl offensive mvv blah blah blah.
Speaker 4 (17:35):
Colin.
Speaker 3 (17:36):
His numbers are down so dramatically, it's like what everybody
thinks is gonna happen in the stock market here in America.
Speaker 4 (17:42):
Barkley's falling off a cliff.
Speaker 3 (17:43):
Doesn't have one hundred yard game this season, But Saquan said,
id gaf give me the wins.
Speaker 9 (17:51):
I'm really not a big number guy. Never really was
good in numbers in school either. People will use numbers
to you know, what's the saying woman line, numbers don't don't.
I don't really get caught up in that. I don't
think it defines me as a player. I still know
what I bring to the table. But I do know
we have to be more efficient in the r own game,
(18:12):
and that's something that we're focusing on. But at the
end of the day, our whole goal is to go
six and two and win another football game.
Speaker 1 (18:20):
My kind of guy doesn't worry about stats. He worries
about being big in big spots. I also think their
own line has been beat up, so I think some
of it's just injury related. I mean, I thought it
was pretty remarkable last night just adding Joe Alt literally
changed the entire Chargers offense. They could run, never punted
(18:43):
one guy. So I think a lot of this stuff
we tend to forget the value of the offensive line
because we don't talk about them, we don't know their names,
we don't buy their jerseys. It is remarkable the difference,
Like the Giants, when Andrew Thomas is up and when
Andrew Thomas is not, a like, it's a different offense.
So I think the healthier the on line gets, the
(19:05):
more Saquon reverts back to last year.
Speaker 3 (19:07):
I do wonder is there such thing as a double
revenge spot? You know, Saquon lost famously to the Giants
two weeks ago. He didn't do jack squat and also
they moved off of him to keep Daniel Jones, who
they then ran off. I think this, if Taquon doesn't
pop here, I'll start to legitimately be concerned that, like,
maybe this just isn't happening this year.
Speaker 4 (19:27):
Colin does he have the pop of vijon of Christian McCaffrey.
I have not seen it.
Speaker 1 (19:34):
Yeah, I mean, you know, running backs get banged up.
There is arm fatigue in baseball. Is their running back fatigue?
I mean, Jonathan Taylor wasn't happy a couple of years ago.
Now he's got a better offensive line, a great tight end.
Jonathan Taylor is the happiest guy. In the world. It's
it is hard to be you know, it's it's you. Also,
sometimes you get a different offensive coordinator, like the Eagles.
Speaker 4 (19:55):
Every year they get a new one.
Speaker 1 (19:56):
Well, that's right, and that the offensive coordinators changed. As
Tony Gonzalez, you STI always tell me that he goes.
The fans don't understand when you get a new offensive coordinator.
They have favorite plays, favorite sets. It doesn't he goes.
You think, oh, Tony Gonzalez. He goes. Either an offensive
coordinator that didn't throw to the tight end he goes.
I want to add of there he goes. You just
think they look at your personnel. He goes. Some guys
(20:17):
have an offense and they don't change it based on
the personnel. So I think Saequan's fine.
Speaker 3 (20:24):
All right, we'll wrap up with World Series Game one.
Action starts tonight on Fox. Blue Jays Dodgers. Everybody's excited.
Speaker 4 (20:32):
Now.
Speaker 3 (20:33):
Two years ago, or two off seasons ago, rather, Shohey
Otani was being rumored to link to the Blue Jays
and there was a big social media scandal. Is he
on a flight to Toronto? Is he gonna sign a deal?
I don't know if you remember this Colin. He ended
up not being on the flight and signed with the Dodgers. Well,
Jay's manager John Schneider poked at the free agent pursuit.
Speaker 10 (20:54):
You felt good about it, you know, and you felt
you felt good about the feedback he was giving about
our organization and opportunity here. But you never really know
what a player's feeling in free agency, and there's got it.
There's a lot of things that have to line up
for them personally too, so you can't really think about
what if, you know, you think about the twenty sixth
that we have. He's a great player. I'll say it again.
(21:17):
I hope he brought his hat, the Blue Jay hat
that he took from us in our meeting. I hope
he brought it back finally. But and the jacket for decoy.
You know, it's like, give us our stuff back already.
Speaker 1 (21:28):
Well, I mean, I think from a business standpoint, the
proximity to the Pacific rim, the Dodgers and the Angels
are better fits. I mean, but I think, you know,
Toronto is a great North American city. They're very well run.
I'm telling you, man, Toronto, they're they're almost like they're
(21:48):
a little bit like Milwaukee. But I think better at
the plate. I don't know what the numbers say. I
feel like they're Milwaukee but a little bit more dangerous
in that two, three four spot. Maybe the numbers don't
belie that, but that's what it feels like to me.
They'll give they'll give the Dodgers more trouble.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
So apparently, you know, everything happens for a reason. Some
people believe that. So after whizzing on Otani, Blue Jays
ended up with Vlad Guerrero. Not a bad consolation prize, right,
He's now like they're superstar. They love him and who knows,
maybe he's the MVP of the World Series and it's like, hey,
this is what was meant to be, not Otani, but
we needed Vlad as our guy leading us. I'll still
(22:28):
take the Dodgers in five. I think you said six.
Speaker 1 (22:31):
Was it? Dodgers in six? Key is tonight? Dodgers very
good Game one playoff team, But Bluji.
Speaker 4 (22:40):
Has just had a long series. Does that stuff matter.
Speaker 1 (22:43):
In baseball?
Speaker 4 (22:44):
Dodgers are well rested or are they rusty rested?
Speaker 1 (22:47):
Well, the Dodgers starters are ready to go, so I
mean Snell and Yoshi, everybody's ready to go. Jmckle the news, Well.
Speaker 2 (22:55):
That's the news, and thanks for stopping by The Herd
Line news.
Speaker 1 (23:00):
Dodgers, Pitchers starters are more arrested, probably an advantage his picks.
J mac Tomorrow's headlines today.
Speaker 2 (23:09):
Next, be sure to catch live editions of The Herd
Weekdays and Noone Easter not a Empacific.
Speaker 1 (23:20):
Rachel Nichols stopped by the show twice this week. Obviously.
Her second trip to our show was regarding the NBA scandal.
Of note, they've got a couple of things, a couple crises,
if you want to call it that, that they're dealing
with right now. The Clipper Kawhi story, which I'm not
(23:41):
fascinated with, but I think the reporting on it's been
excellent Pablo Tory. And then the other story yesterday which
was hard to wrap your brain around, Damon Jones and
Terry Rozier and Chauncey Billups a massive there's two separate cases.
One or in terms of number of people, is the
(24:02):
NBA gambling stuff, the poker stuff, which includes Lakosa Nostra.
I didn't know it still existed or didn't think it
was very vibrant today in the poker stuff. Now there's
accusations that Chauncey Phillips is part of both. They're just accusations.
But throughout the course of the weekend and next week,
(24:22):
we'll keep you updated on the very latest. There's a
real hunger for that story. But it is time to
make Jmac make the big picks. We call this segment
tomorrow's headlines Today. What's the headline? Niners and the Texans
on a wonky, weird numbers weekend and not a lot
of great games.
Speaker 4 (24:43):
I think this one certainly qualifies, probably for some.
Speaker 3 (24:46):
Reasons you're gonna find out here shortly, the headline for
Texans Niners will be love out the way forty nine
ers gold held up in Houston, Give me the Texans, Colin,
look at how we play on recent current of bens there.
Yeah again and nice to hear you laughing. So Demico
Ryans here, first matchup against the Niners since leaving San France, Colin,
(25:08):
I'm gonna ask you, like, listen, you're.
Speaker 4 (25:10):
A defensive coordator.
Speaker 3 (25:11):
You spent time with Shanahan. You're seeing these guys in practice.
If anybody knows what Shanahan wants.
Speaker 4 (25:15):
To do, it's Demiko Ryans.
Speaker 3 (25:17):
I think that's a big edge for this great Texans defense.
They got one of the best front sevens in the
in the league, arguably be the best front four.
Speaker 4 (25:25):
I think the Niners struggle here a little bit. I'm
with you.
Speaker 3 (25:27):
I think you said low scoring game earlier, especially without
Nico Collins at Christian Kirk.
Speaker 4 (25:32):
There's rumors that Houston could.
Speaker 3 (25:33):
Start two rookies on the outside, Higgins and Noel Like.
I'm like, whoa, that's a bit of a surprise. I'll
go seventeen to thirteen ish Texans get to win lines
moving toward three. This could close Texans three, which I
don't love.
Speaker 1 (25:46):
Tomorrow's headlines today, Brown's Patriots. I really like New England
in this spot.
Speaker 3 (25:52):
Yes, Colin, you know sometimes again we agree, it's like
seventy eight percent hitting the headline for Brown's against the
pay as well be canceled coverage. Brown's not protected from Mayhem, Colin.
Speaker 4 (26:06):
We love Drake May here. I know he's going to
the Hall of Fame.
Speaker 3 (26:09):
I'm gonna start calling him Drake mahomest. That's how good
Drake may has been. Right, number one deep ball throwing
the league.
Speaker 4 (26:16):
Colin, are you ready.
Speaker 3 (26:17):
For this stat twenty plus yard air passes Drake May
fourteen of eighteen this season. Wow, that's insane with five touchdowns.
And oh, by the way, the Browns they're susceptible to
getting beat deep again. This Cleveland defense does not really travel.
That's been a big issue for them, right, and you
get the rookie quarterback going up against Rabel. And here's
(26:39):
the other stat.
Speaker 4 (26:39):
I love.
Speaker 3 (26:40):
I haven't seen or heard this anywhere. So we saw
the Raiders last week get really smashed.
Speaker 4 (26:45):
Guess what they.
Speaker 3 (26:46):
Were going into their bye. Okay, maybe they were already
mentally checked out. You know who else We saw a
struggle Jacksonville guy, really their doors blown off. They were
heading into a bye. The Cleveland Browns have a bye
next week, Colin. They've been on a long one. They
had road games, they had London, they had to go travel.
Now you get a one more trip before the buye.
I think they kind of get smashed here by the Patriots.
Speaker 1 (27:07):
Tomorrow's headlines today, This was a stay away game for me.
Giants at the Eagles. Can they sweep Philly?
Speaker 4 (27:14):
Well, why do you stay away? Colin? I just just curious.
Speaker 1 (27:18):
Philly's gonna eventually figure out their run game.
Speaker 4 (27:21):
Yeah, so I would agree they're a Jeckel and Hi team.
Speaker 3 (27:24):
The headline for Eagles Giants the rematch will be Kwan
but not forgotten. Barkley sets a reminder for Giants. This
has to be the Saquon Barkley game. Colin, this is
a weird Eagles stat.
Speaker 1 (27:37):
Are you ready for this?
Speaker 3 (27:38):
So they lead the league in three and out punts,
number one in the NFL. They're also number one in
red zone touchdown efficiency.
Speaker 1 (27:45):
What.
Speaker 3 (27:46):
I don't really know what's going on with this team.
It could be as you noted that they're on another
offensive coordinator. You know, they basically change them like they're
underwear every season, and now they're just struggling on the
down to down.
Speaker 4 (27:57):
This aj Brown.
Speaker 3 (27:58):
Stuff is concerning everybody's wait right now to see if
he practices today and will be a go this weekend.
Speaker 4 (28:03):
But at some point they got to figure this out.
Speaker 3 (28:06):
Once they move the ball, they're great, but getting started,
they're like that old car that can't really get going. Meanwhile,
they're facing a Giants team that has been lights out
in the first quarter with Dart and Dable scheming up stuff. Remember,
they grabbed these early leads and can they hold on?
I'm going Eagles here, but I don't feel amazing about it.
Speaker 1 (28:24):
All right. I took the over on Dolphins at the
Falcons Atlanta at home. It's a little bit of a
track team. Tomorrow's headlines today Miami at the atl What
do you got?
Speaker 2 (28:35):
You know?
Speaker 4 (28:35):
I was texting you earlier this week.
Speaker 3 (28:37):
One of my big things in the league this year
is it's back to a ground and pound. Running is
so instrumental the way defenses are adjusting.
Speaker 4 (28:45):
Who did that give the edge to?
Speaker 9 (28:46):
Here?
Speaker 3 (28:46):
The headline will be for Falcons Dolphins life is to
a short Dolphins clock out mid season. This is a
Miami defense. Colin cannot stop the run. Seven they face
the season, five have gone over one hundred yards. Jonathan
Taylor was at ninety eight. Like I'm just telling you,
Bijon should be in line to carry your fantasy team
(29:09):
this weekend. And you know the headline here clock out
midseason has Miami quit. I mean, I think we saw
some of that in the second half against the Browns.
Can the Falcons run away and hide? We'll see how
Michael Pennix in that knee holds up. It sounds like
he's going to be a go not an issue. Miami's
pass rush isn't great. I just want to see the
Atlanta offense that cooked Washington right, that went up and
(29:30):
down the field against the Bills. That's the one I
want to see at home. And by the way, if
Tampa slips up against the Saints and Atlanta wins this,
we've got a divisional race that kind.
Speaker 4 (29:38):
Of is fun.
Speaker 1 (29:38):
Yeah. Finally, tomorrow's headlines today A really interesting game, Cowboys
at the Denver Broncos.
Speaker 2 (29:47):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (29:47):
I'd say this is probably the second best game. I'm
fascinated by it. I'm starting to come around on the Cowboys.
Speaker 4 (29:53):
I can't believe it.
Speaker 3 (29:54):
The headline for Dallas Denver will be shot happens three
hundred and fifty yard Dackerie dropped onto the field.
Speaker 4 (30:04):
Colin, this is about Dak Prescott. How about this? I
saw a funny stat The two best offenses.
Speaker 3 (30:09):
In the league are the Dallas Cowboys and whoever's playing
Dallas because the defense is so leaky. Sounds like Trayvon
Diggs I'm reading here in the last hour, could be
going on the IR.
Speaker 4 (30:19):
I don't know what happened in his house. Something went down.
Speaker 3 (30:21):
Now he's banged up, he's out, so they're gonna hemorrhage
points on the back end. But man, you know what
Dak Prescott cooks. That's man to man defense, throwing to
Lamb who can get open, and Pickens, who's a cheap code.
Denver plays a lot of man Colin, I think this
matchup should Dak should have another three hundred and fifty
yard game here. The question is can can the Cowboys
defense get enough stops to get the win. I'll take
(30:42):
a little Dallas on the money line, and if the
Eagles slip up, I'm just telling you, if you want
the Cowboys, Colin, bet them now to win the NFCS
because things could go their way this weekend, which is
honestly one of the bigger stories in the league.
Speaker 4 (30:55):
We thought this team was headed downhill.
Speaker 1 (30:58):
I thought it was a four to five win team. Yeah, no, not.
And I was a fan of what was it, the
August Green Bay Micah trade, Like I was a fan
of it getting two first round picks. Albert Brier, who
was on about a half hour ago, his thoughts on
that struggling bow Knicks Broncos offense and that leaky Dallas defense.
Speaker 6 (31:20):
I think this is a real strength versus strength game
where you've got an outstanding Dallas offense with a dat
with a quarterback in Dak Prescott playing at an MVP level,
two receivers and Lamb and Pickens who have number one
type ability going against a Denver defense. That's fantastic, right,
So you have strength on strength there. I think on
the other side, now Denver's got that opportunity to really
(31:42):
assert themselves offensively. It'll be interesting to see whether or
not they can do it.
Speaker 1 (31:46):
You know, it's it's interesting with Sean payton E. You
know bo Nicks. If you go to Russell Wilson's prime,
what did he do? He ran around and and you know,
could struggle over the middle of the field. Bow Knicks now,
young guy runs around really well. Has struggled on the
(32:08):
deep ball. Russell was very good on the deep ball early,
but never really saw the middle of the field. You know,
there's some complaints that you know, bo Nicks is little
run reliant, has to move, hasn't been as good from
the pocket. Greg Cosel says, I tend to think if
you can run as a quarterback, do it for the
(32:30):
first two years, then scale back on it. But for
two years as you try to de cipher NFL defenses,
pick up first downs, use your legs. By year three,
don't run as much, learn to slide. But I think
it's almost like when you go to work at a
new company the first two years, just live at the office. Now,
I tell my kids in your twenties, you've got the energy.
(32:52):
Live at the office. Thirties, start a family, forties, you
lose energy. In the NFL when you're a young quarterback,
the defenses are so much tighter and well coached in college. Run,
move the chains, move the sticks, pick up first downs.
It's going to be choppy. You know, people look at Mahomes, Well,
(33:13):
Homes didn't have to play us first year, so you
didn't get those five or six really sloppy, ugly, turnover
prone starts.
Speaker 2 (33:20):
You know, he had.
Speaker 1 (33:20):
Alex Smith, Andy Reid and inherited Travis Kelcey closer to
his prime or in his prime. All right, First things
first is around the corner World Series Tonight, Dodgers, in
the Blue Jays, stars, power hitters everywhere, cy young winners,
