Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Well, it's the players, the fans, and even the broadcasters
are running on fumes. Eighteen innings. A guy who's been
around iconic moments his whole life, Derek Jeter, five time
World Series champ, fourteen time All Star. That was crazy.

(00:48):
You know, it's really interesting. I made this point about
you several times over the last ten years that even
great baseball players, their numbers often go down in the postseason.
You're facing better pitching. It's harder yours didn't You were
the same guy. So Freddie Freeman's got that ability to
just he's Freddie Freeman in Atlanta in la regular season?

(01:13):
Is there a trick to it? Because you're facing better pitching,
you're in high leverage situations. I mean, the crowd's on you.
How did you like just you were just the same
Derek Jeter? I feel that with Freeman. Is there a
secret way to do it.

Speaker 3 (01:28):
I don't know if there's a secret way to do it, Colin,
but I think it's more of just approaching every game
like it's a regular season game. You know, you have
to pride yourself on consistency, and it's not like you
show up in a World series and games saying, oh
my goodness, all of a sudden, now I'm playing in
a World series. Let me try to do more. You know,
Freddy's an unbelievable hitter, you know, And I guess the

(01:51):
best thing I can say about Freddie is I'm more
surprised when he doesn't come through as opposed to when
he does, because you've seen him do it so much
over and over and over regular season, postseason. It doesn't
matter and he does. He's the same person, you know,
He's got the same demeanor. You know, he's had twenty
five at bats last night, whether he got out or

(02:13):
he hit a home run. I mean, it's the same
approach when he's in the box. And that's what I
appreciate about Freddy.

Speaker 1 (02:19):
You know, Derek, your great Yankee teams had this ability
to take a really good player like a Scott Brocchus
good player and rise to be a star in the moment.
You know, there was Pisada and you and Mariano, and
you know there was a core four or five guys,
Hall of Fame guys, and then there were good guys
that got great in moments. We Will Klein was at

(02:42):
Tacoma with a seven ERA and last night he goes
four innings, and I I make this argument, it's almost
like when you are a good athlete, but you're around
great athletes, you do rise. And there were guys on
those Yankee teams. I mean, I'm watching Will Klein and
I'm on the internet, and I'm like, who's Will clinb

(03:05):
What do you make of a guy that at triple
A release multiple times doing that? Do you do have
you seen that guy's rise in the moment?

Speaker 3 (03:14):
A hundred percent? How about how about Will clin though,
I mean he wasn't even on the roster. He's in
Arizona for the last few weeks, never pitched this many
innings before in his career. He's out there on the
mound and he does what he does in a World
Series game, pivotal World Series game. So yeah, I know,
I know what you're saying, Colin. A lot of times,
you know, when you're with a group that has had

(03:35):
a lot of experience and a lot of success, like
the Los Angeles Dodgers, you know that you don't have
to do too much yourself. You just want to play
your part and you want to do your job. You know,
you don't put everything on your own shoulders. And I
think when you think small like that, good things happen.
So we've had players, you know, like you mentioned, that
may have not had too much success with other teams,

(03:57):
and then they come and they join our group, and
then all of the sudden you see him come up
with these big moments because they know that. Look, I'm
surrounded by people who are professional and consistent and get
the job done. Therefore, all I have to do is
play my small part. But let me say this, he
played more than a small part last night. I mean
that was that was fun to watch. Oh so you

(04:18):
got you got? Dodgers fans googling will climbed all morning today.

Speaker 1 (04:23):
Yeah. During the game, I'm like, who is and I
saw it. I grew up by Tacoma. I'm like the
Coma Rainiers. That's why as a kid Otani's now going
to pitch. And you know the amazing thing about Otani,
Well you can see the gifts, right. I don't think
sometimes people understand how emotionally draining pitching is, right, Like

(04:45):
it's it's the focus. I mean that you go to
the laptop, it's like, what's this guy?

Speaker 3 (04:49):
Like?

Speaker 1 (04:49):
What's this guy here? And when you watch Otani, are
you more blown away by the stuff of the plate
or the pitching?

Speaker 3 (04:58):
Both? Absolutely? Both. Look. I mean starting pitchers, you pitch
every fifth day for a reason, right, you have four
days off because you have to go through your routine.
You have to get your body ready. You got you to
get your arm in shape. And for him to be
able to look, I mean, he's arguably the best offensive

(05:20):
player in baseball, along with with Aaron Judge and everyone
seeing Vladimir Guerrero. So you can make a case for
him being the best offensive player and pitching wise. I mean,
what he's been able to do. If you just take
away everything offensively, you know he could be the best

(05:40):
pitcher in the game. But then to have him do both,
I can't. I don't get it. I don't even know
how to answer the question. But it's like he's we're
joking about it last night. It's like he's the six
foot two little leaguer that's twelve years old that absolutely
dominates in little league and he's doing it at the
major league level.

Speaker 1 (06:00):
You know, it's interesting. I like starting pick. My theory
has always been, does it could be football or basketball
or baseball, end of the game's biggest moments. Have your
best players nothing against bullpens. I want my starter. I
want Garrett Cole. I don't care if it was Verlander
in his prime, Yoshi, I don't want a bullpen. Baseball's changed.

(06:22):
It's a bullpen sport. Do you like it? I like
my guy. I like a guys and a moments. What
do you make of the explosion of bullpens and a
batter an inning? What do you make of it?

Speaker 3 (06:37):
I think it's hard. Look, the Dodgers showed it last
season because they pretty much rode their bullpen to a championship.
But that's hard to do, especially when you start playing
these long series, because the more times you see the bullpen,
the better you're going to be offensively. I think this
type of baseball that the Dodgers are playing right now

(06:58):
relying on their starters. You know, this is sort of
a throwback to when you know, we had Clemmens and
we had Pettitt and Mussina and Cci, guys that would
go out there and they were expected to throw seven
eight innings and then you go to Mariano and it's
game over. It is I really enjoy watching this Dodgers team.
I was joking with with Dave Roberts last night and

(07:19):
I said, you look younger. He looks younger because he
just sits back and he relaxes and he watches his starters.
And there's a couple moves with an exception of last
night that was a completely a different type of game.
But you sit back, you rely on your starters, and
it's fun to watch. But the Dodgers are peaking. They've
peaked at the right time from you know, a health
standpoint and from a pitching standpoint, and it really is

(07:41):
a throwback.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
I thought baseball was at its best and I was
working for another company. It was Red Sox Yankees, and
I used to say, is there was something about old
Yankee Stadium is that it was moved. It was almost
like a bridge. It moved a little bit when it
got loud. It just it felt different. But it was
also the players. Is that the Dodgers now off a championship,

(08:40):
Toronto now backs against the wall. I really think with
the Springer injury and exhausting their bullpen, I'm like, I
don't know if Toronto can come back. But I also
think there is an advantage having been in games like
this when you would be with the Yankees and you'd
play a really talented team and it was one of
those games that you just want an next running game

(09:01):
or a highly dramatic game at Yankee stadium. You won,
You go home, you sleep, you wake up. Did you
feel like driving to the ballpark the next day? Did
you feel like this is an edge? This is what
being a Yankee is because I honestly, after that game,
I think, I think last year's Dodgers this year's I
don't know if Toronto's got anything left, do you.

Speaker 3 (09:23):
Well, I'd be very careful to count them out. You know,
Toronto's had their backs against the wall from you know,
the majority of the season. No one thought they'd win
the ale Lease, no one thought they'd get to the
World Series. They have a very, very talented group that
they've overcome adversity. Look, I said it before, I think
the Dodgers have the best team in baseball. I think
they're playing well at the right time, and quite frankly,

(09:45):
I think they can play better than they are right now.
And it just goes to show you how good they
are and how balanced they are. But you know, you
play a game like last night, it's one of those games.
If you lose, it's tough, man, It's a tough pill
to swallow because you know, you always look back and say, wow,
we had an opportunity and this could have changed the series.
So we'll see how Toronto bounce is back. But you

(10:07):
know they've been doing it all year.

Speaker 1 (10:09):
Yeah. The one of the things I remember years and
years ago, somebody asked you you were in a slump,
and you said, you said, man, I don't overthink it.
I just go in tomorrow. I want to hit the
ball hard. I'm going to go up and just hit
it hard. I'm not gonna with that. Oh oh, Tawny.
It couldn't hit against Milwaukee like he was struggling until

(10:31):
that one profound game. And there are different guys at
different times in the postseason that get into slumps. How
do you compartmentalize in the World Series or an ALCS
if last night you left five runners on last night,
you know, Freddie Freeman the other day on a pop
up made a mistake. It's like, man, you gotta forget
about that. You got to be dialed in. Did you

(10:53):
find it easier or harder in the postseason the World
Series to compartmentalize the moment after a you draw the
caller after two strikeouts.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
I've always thought it was easier, you know, because when
you get to the playoffs, only one thing matters, Only
one thing matters. Every pitch, every that every situation, you
have a chance to help the team win. So you
don't ever get in the box thinking about what's my
average this series. It's what can I do in this
particular moment. So I always that's why I love playing

(11:24):
in the postseason. I mean, I hit a home run
in two thousand and one, the Mister November home run,
and I think I had one hit in the World
Series up until that point, but no one remembers that
because every moment you come up, you have a chance
to do something. So I always found that it was easier.
And I think if you put that pressure on yourself
in terms of you know, I haven't done this or

(11:45):
I haven't done that, that's when it's sort of snowballs.
But if your only focus is each individual pitch, each
at bat, each game, I think it makes it a
little bit easier.

Speaker 1 (11:55):
Do you know what you hit in the World Series?
It's insane? This is insane. I know, three one that's
an insane batting average in the World Series.

Speaker 3 (12:07):
Because you're facing it was fun. Yeah, I mean those
are those are the you know, that's what you dream of,
You dream of playing in the World Series.

Speaker 1 (12:15):
You know.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
This is what it's all all. This is what fun
is about. And I mean, this is what you when
you're in Little league. You you sit down and you're
in the backyard and you're dreaming that you're up in
the World Series. So look, I was Fortunately I played
in a lot of World series. I played in seven
World series, man, So you know, I've had a lot
of the bats. But I just love it. If there's

(12:35):
one thing I do miss, I don't miss playing the game.
I don't. There hasn't been a day since i've retired
where I've missed playing the game. But if you could,
if I could wake up and play in a World Series,
I'd do it.

Speaker 6 (12:47):
You know.

Speaker 1 (12:48):
I hope you're gonna get it. Are you gonna get
a nap in here before the ballpark? You don't have
to play short tonight.

Speaker 3 (12:53):
I'm gonna try, man, I have no voice. We're gonna
see what happens. I'm just the only thing I'm hoping
for is nine innings. That's all I can do today.

Speaker 1 (13:01):
So am I actually? So am? I?

Speaker 3 (13:02):
Yeah? Right? All right?

Speaker 1 (13:04):
Great seeing you Derek, You Someboddy appreciate it, all right,
the great Derek Jeter. Yeah, that's Okay, we're all rooting
for nine innings. That's crazy. That is when you three
twenty What was Derek's career average about three Z nine
three ten to hit better in a World Series, like,
I think some guys are just built for it. I
think Freddie Freeman. It's like Derek Jeter said, you're surprised

(13:26):
when he doesn't deliver what two men on? Like, some
guys are just built for it.

Speaker 5 (13:30):
Some guys.

Speaker 1 (13:31):
I mean, I always felt Michael Jordan at the free
throw line, so I was close. Derek Jeter's career average
is three ten. He hit better than that in the
World Series. That's something.

Speaker 5 (13:43):
J Mack with a news No, no, this is the
herd Line news.

Speaker 6 (13:49):
All right, let's start with those Baltimore Ravens who are
playing games with the injury report. Kind of sort of joking,
but Lamar Jackson is expected to play Thursday against the Dolphins.
John Harball said he's very confident in his quarterback returning
to action, claiming last week's injury report was just a mistake.

Speaker 5 (14:08):
Colin from the veteran.

Speaker 6 (14:09):
Coach, Lamar is a active, actually a fully participant in
practice this week, that's what they're saying. So Ravens minus
seven and a half in Miami Thursday night.

Speaker 1 (14:24):
I don't want to do it again. So last week
and Monday Night football, I took the Chiefs and I
took four favorites and my favorites went five and oh
this weekend I missed on an over under. There's one
over under I like this week. But I'm looking today.
I'm liking a lot of favorites.

Speaker 2 (14:44):
Again.

Speaker 1 (14:44):
There's two underdogs I like, and there's there's four favorites
I like.

Speaker 6 (14:48):
So the dogs have been barking on Thursday this season.
Obviously we saw the Bengals last week. It's just tough
to make a case from Miami. Man, they're not good
despite that win over the Falcons. By the way, can
I just say I know that you love the Falcons
so much, so deeply. Ever every season you tell me
avoid them, like no Drake London, no Penix.

Speaker 1 (15:09):
They couldn't do anything.

Speaker 6 (15:10):
So are the Dolphins suddenly good or did they just
have a great situation last week?

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Well here's why I like the Ravens as a favorite. Yeah,
so the band's back together, so like they don't have
any time to waste like that game Sunday with Tyler
Huntley like they had to win it. The Bears didn't,
So Baltimore is one of the few teams in the league.
They've got to win the next five games. They can't
mess around with this stuff. So my take is Miami

(15:37):
comes in feeling good, but to your point, they had
some help, and I think Baltimore is playing hair on fire.
I think Baltimore is going to roll Miami. I can't
disagree with you there. All right, let's move on to
interesting subplot here.

Speaker 6 (15:54):
The Minnesota Vikings Colin have a big game Sunday at
the Lions. Is a huge game on Fox. It feels
like season saving Tom. Here's the big story. So Carson
Wentz had been filling in for JJ McCarthy. We've now
got word that Carson Wentz had a torn labrum other issues,
but it happened two weeks ago, so they were playing

(16:15):
and starting Carson Wentz despite these injuries. Of course, they
get so bad now he's out for the season.

Speaker 1 (16:21):
With shoulder surgery.

Speaker 6 (16:22):
JJ McCarthy is going to start this week, but interestingly,
he was the emergency quarterback Colin the last two weeks,
so there's some speculation. We'll wait a second if McCarthy
was the emergency quarterback and the Vikings knew Wentz had.

Speaker 1 (16:38):
A torn Laboram why didn't.

Speaker 6 (16:39):
They just start McCarthy, Like, if he's good enough to
be the emergency, shouldn't he have just started for Wentz?
And it's becoming a thing in Minnesota. I'm being told
via text that essentially the emergency quarterback essentially goes in
and just hands the ball off. He's not throwing the
ball because he's not healthy. So maybe McCarthy was hurt.

(17:00):
Is McCarthy playing this week? He's starting this week? But
to go from emergency for two weeks to starting, did
he magically get healthy?

Speaker 1 (17:07):
I don't know how you don't like the Lions this week? Wow,
it's tough to not lay it with the Lions at
home now.

Speaker 6 (17:13):
Kevin O'Connell in a you know, they gotta gotta have
it game?

Speaker 1 (17:16):
Can they show up?

Speaker 6 (17:17):
I mean, the defense does not look good. They got
destroyed in UH by Justin Herbert and company.

Speaker 1 (17:24):
I don't know, Colin.

Speaker 6 (17:25):
Essentially, JJ McCarthy has one good quarter in the two
games he's played in his career, and that was the
fourth quarter against your bears.

Speaker 5 (17:32):
Remember that one?

Speaker 1 (17:33):
Yeah, Detroit were my bears earlier.

Speaker 6 (17:38):
Is that because you're bashing Caleb Williams this week, they're
not for trashing.

Speaker 1 (17:42):
I'm offering. Yes, I'm contextualizing. I'm not bashing.

Speaker 6 (17:47):
Yeah, okay, fine, final story, Colin, Yeah, here we go.
It's Wemby time. I know you were watching last night.
Look at this three sixty lay from the seven Wemby.
Look at just erasing shots at the rim, Colin, The
Spurs are four and oh Wemby had twenty four and fifteen.
Didn't have to play much last night because the uh

(18:08):
who's at the raptor?

Speaker 1 (18:09):
Yeah, they see you know what. Look at Lemby in transition.
They're starting five Stefan Castle. They're starting five is good.
I don't know about their bench, but they're starting five
is good.

Speaker 3 (18:18):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (18:19):
With the window, Spurs are now four to o their
best start in eight years. And uh, you know, I
don't know, man, I think wee Ben Yama. We're talking
first team All NBA. Well that's how good I mean,
he's made such a freaking lead.

Speaker 1 (18:32):
Look at these numbers. So Yo Kitsch is the best
player in the league. My take is Wemby will surpass
Luca at some point because he's so has so much
dexterity and presence on the defensive end. I mean, vicer
can do more than Luca can do. Lu can give
you thirty eight, but he's not doing much in the
defensive end.

Speaker 6 (18:53):
I mean he's almost at five blocks a game.

Speaker 1 (18:56):
So let's look game. So Yo Kitsch is the best
player in the game to this moment. Lucas number two,
but Wemby will probably be two in an hour. Uh,
Yannis would be four.

Speaker 6 (19:07):
Oh, okay, Jannis Ford, I guess I'll give you that.

Speaker 1 (19:13):
Okay, who's six?

Speaker 3 (19:15):
Well, Anthony Edwards is hurt right now.

Speaker 6 (19:17):
Lebron's hurt right now, Tatum's hurt right now. You know,
Leek's got a lot of injuries. It's certainly not your boy,
Cooper Flag. It's not Anthony Davis.

Speaker 1 (19:27):
Yeah, I think you're right, Steph. By the way, is
Anthony Davis. I'm just gonna throw this out there. You
see put on some weight.

Speaker 5 (19:33):
He yeah, they're calling.

Speaker 3 (19:35):
Yeah.

Speaker 6 (19:35):
I don't want to fat shame anyone, but just he
looks heavy on a couple. Well, yeah, you know, I
had a busy summer eating in Dallas. I guess the
I haven't been to Dallas in a few years.

Speaker 3 (19:44):
But the food is good there.

Speaker 1 (19:45):
Yeah, rib steaks everywhere.

Speaker 6 (19:47):
Luca gained weight in Dallas. Remember they started to fat
shame him, and now he's all skinny out here in
La eating avocado toast and everything.

Speaker 3 (19:55):
I mean, listen, they're.

Speaker 6 (19:56):
Saying, you look like you may have put on a
few pounds since moving to the Midwest.

Speaker 3 (20:00):
I don't let me.

Speaker 1 (20:01):
Tell you something. Eaton's good out here. He's very good.
Uh J Mack with a new.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
Well, that's the news, and thanks for stopping by the
Herd line.

Speaker 1 (20:12):
That was very nice of Derek Jeter to stop by.
He did not have to go on our show today
and he's working on about thirty five minutes sleep.

Speaker 3 (20:20):
So I appreciate that.

Speaker 1 (20:21):
That is It's just wild. It is wild what we're watching.
I don't know. Eighteen innings. Isn't that spectacular, isn't it?
I think one of the craziest stats is Otawi last
couple of weeks has reached base every time, seven for
seven and six walks. It's like Beer League stuff. Like

(20:44):
what he's facing the best staffs just incredible. It's the hurd.

Speaker 2 (20:52):
Be sure to catch live editions of the Herd weekdays
and Noone Eastern a em Pacific on Fox Sports Radio
FS one and iHeartRadio app.

Speaker 1 (21:07):
Game four World Series tonight. It was interesting. I was
watching the NFL and the favorites just dominated as the
weather turns cold, and more defensive players than offensive players
get hurt on average in the NFL. That's why it's

(21:27):
important to be a young team like a Seattle or
a Green Bay. You don't want to get too old
because young players tend to heal more quickly. So there
are some teams in this league that are old and
feel old. And when you get banged up and the
weather turns, guys take four weeks, not two. But I
thought last week the most interesting game was Bears and

(21:47):
the Ravens in Baltimore, and then Lamar couldn't play, and
it was funny. I thought about going to X and saying, okay,
I'm pulling that out of the Blazing five. But I
thought Harba off by Huntley has been around a while. Well,
they're getting really healthy, and I don't trust the Bears
on the road, and I don't trust NFC teams against
the Ravens in Baltimore. And you end up watching that

(22:08):
game and there was a really bad interception. Caleb threw
from his own end zone, and you know, the coach
is like, he shouldn't have thrown it there. Caleb's like
a good guy, jumped the route. It was a really
bad pick. And I've seen you notice in Chicago, I've
had multiple people say you're too you're too hard on Caleb.
And I saw a column today that said, you know

(22:29):
he's fine, relaxed. Well, the difference is when you get
Ben Johnson, the hottest coach, and have the third easiest
schedule and spent one hundred million on your O line
upgrades and honestly, Roma Dunze, DJ Moore, Loveland, Luther Burden,
DeAndre Swift, the Bears have really good offensive skill. People

(22:50):
like way above average. Well, Fine's not good enough. And
I think he has been fine, but you know, I mean,
like you want to see a notch above fine against
the Bears schedule. I mean even playing the Ravens, they
got a huge break. They didn't have to face Lamar Jackson.
So now their defense is a bit overrated too. It

(23:10):
takes the ball away, but yards per play they give
up about five and a half six yards to play.
It's not a great defense. It's a playmaking defense. But
Nick Wright, who was a fan of Caleb, you know,
I think he had the Bears last year this year
in the Super Bowl. I think on the idea that
everything with Caleb and Caleb he's fine, Caleb.

Speaker 7 (23:33):
Williams being just fine is a disaster, and I would
have eliminated that as going into last year, I would
have said that the only chance Caleb Williams is not
at the very least very good is catastrophic injury. He

(23:55):
is a year and a half in still shaky at
what should be the easiest stuff, and that is concerning.

Speaker 1 (24:04):
Yeah, I mean, it's we all.

Speaker 3 (24:06):
You know.

Speaker 1 (24:06):
The other thing is when you watched Jaden Daniels last
year as a rookie chop it up, and you watched
Drake may or bow Nicks, there's a comp I mean,
you're looking at people to the same age, so, you know,
and a lot of it's where you land like bow Nicks.
It's an advantage getting Sean Payton, Patrick Mahomes gets, you know,
Andy Reid, by the way, Josh Allen the Bills made

(24:27):
the playoffs the year before he got there. Sean mcdermot's
more than capable Lamar Jackson got. I don't think it's
a coincidence. Lamar Jackson got the Ravens infrastructure, the Bears
don't have any of that. We think Ben Johnson's really good,
but the ownership's week the front office is eh. So
he you know, Caleb did not inherit any Reid in
And I think there's a real a linear line. There's

(24:49):
a real line here between where you land and how
well you do. I like Kyler Murray, who would be
great in Arizona, you know what I mean? Like so
like almost everybody would work if the Rams drafted you
or Kansas City drafts you. I think it's I think,
I mean, I think it's very difficult to be good
in Chicago at quarterback ownership, front office. It's not ideal.

(25:12):
It's one of the poorer ownership groups. Not to mention
in Chicago a lot of cold weather games, windy and cold,
so that that adds to it. But overall, I don't
think everything's fine, And if it is, that's not where
you want to be, you know, twenty some games into
your career. So watching that. We just had Derek Jeter

(25:34):
on there's a line from the office and I don't
know exactly what it is, but it's like, it's too bad.
People don't know they're in the good old days until
they're out of the good old days. It's kind of
a classic line from the Office and what we are
watching in baseball right now, the quality of talent that's

(25:56):
never been like this. So first of all, NBA is
very global soccer, very global. Football is very domestic to
this point. But I mean o Tawni and Yoshi. I
mean Yoshi is throwing games, his last two starts, complete games, unhittable,
and what Otani's doing. I've always wondered, will the NFL

(26:17):
ever become more international? You know, football everywhere else, but
here is a different sport. But it's just I'm so
glad that Otawni ended up going. You know, he was
considering I don't know if he considered the Yankees, he
considered the Blue Jays, Toronto International City, he considered Los Angeles,
and Los Angeles was a better fit because he was

(26:40):
with the Angels. But it's just incredible. I always thought
like the best team athlete I ever saw was Michael
Jordan in terms of he was the best scorer, he
was the most relentless. He was the most clutch. He
was a great on ball defender. He didn't elevate necessarily
every teammate like Lebron does. But Michael was the best
team athlete when you consider the pitching. I think go

(27:03):
Tani is the greatest team sport athlete in the history
of America. It's just insane just being a great pitcher.
It's just Derek Jeter on Oltani earlier.

Speaker 3 (27:17):
He's arguably the best offensive player in baseball along with
Aaron Judge, and everyone's seeing Vladimir Guerrero, so you can
make a case for him being the best offensive player
and pitching wise. I mean what he's been able to do.
If you just take away everything offensively, you know, he

(27:39):
could be the best pitcher in the game. It's like
he's the six foot two little leaguer that's twelve years
old that absolutely dominates in little league and he's doing
it at the major league level.

Speaker 1 (27:52):
Yeah, and pitching is so Derek Jeter pointed out, you
got to take four days off after you pitch. It's
mentally and physically exhausting. Here's Dave Roberts. Here's his locker
room speech after the eighteen inning win.

Speaker 3 (28:07):
We're gonna need every single body.

Speaker 1 (28:09):
This is just not rhetoric, this is just not talk.
Tonight prove that we're gonna need every single person on
this roster help us in a baseball game. Those guys
games everything they had tonight to beat us, and none
of us waivered.

Speaker 3 (28:25):
Quit. We continue to fight. That's who we are.

Speaker 6 (28:28):
Hey, we got again yet heard let's starting heroes on
base nine times?

Speaker 3 (28:32):
That's what. Okay, leave it all out there.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
You ready to go to Mark. There's no letter. You
don't see a lot of baseball locker room speeches. I
didn't even know they had them. That's pretty good. No,
it's here's the line. By the way, I wish there
was a way to know you're in the good old
days before you actually left them. We are in the
good old days of baseball. I mean what guys can
do now because it's a global sport, so you get

(29:00):
these international players. I mean, just look at the Dodgers
roster right now. I mean it's just incredible how good
it is you're you're watching. This is the most talented
baseball team of all time by far. Multiple guys throwing
one hundred miles an hour, international stars, power hitters. It's
just you know, Tommy Edmund is classic. So he was

(29:20):
a I think he won a Gold Glove in Saint
Louis and he was like a two sixty two sixty
five hitter in Saint Louis, and you you bring him
to the Dodgers and you surround him with these great players.
Tommy Edmunds last night, he once again, Tommy edmund makes
a great defensive play like he he would be a
he would be a high end player on any team.

(29:42):
Like that play right now we're showing you on tv
ID is a great Major League Baseball World Series play.
I mean Taoscar Hernandez gets lost in this lineup. Remember
last year they went to New York. The Dodgers did
Taoscar Hernandez like own the series. Taoscar Hernandez is the
star on many teams in this sport. Tommy Edmonds the
best defensive player on most teams in Major League Baseball.

(30:03):
I mean, the idea of these guys with the Dodgers,
they get overshadowed. The talents insane and Freddie Freeman. He's
almost better in the postseason than he is in the
regular season. Jeeter earlier on him.

Speaker 3 (30:17):
Approaching every game like it's a regular season game. You know,
you have to pride yourself on consistency, and it's not
like you show up in a World Series and games say,
oh my goodness, all of a sudden, now I'm playing
in the World Series. Let me try to do more.
You know. Freddy's an unbelievable hitter, you know, And I
guess the best thing I can say about Freddie is

(30:38):
I'm more surprised when he doesn't come through as opposed
to when he does, because you've seen him do it
so much over and over and over regular season, postseason,
it doesn't.

Speaker 1 (30:49):
Matter between the Braves and the Dodgers. I mean, it
feels like and then that wild Series against the Podres,
It's like, I feel like I've seen every Freddie Freeman
postseason at bat. It feels like they've all been big.
You know. It's not like he ever, you know, between

(31:09):
the Braves, because he was with the Braves, he was
in so many big games, and now he's with the
Dodgers and they're all big games. It's I mean, Freddie
Freeman has really become a household name. Obviously he's helped
the Dodgers, but the Dodgers have helped make him. I mean,
the Braves are a massive franchise, but they feel more
regional in about a six state southern footprint. It's just

(31:32):
Freddie Freeman has become He has got a Jeter quality.
He feels like a better player in the playoffs, and
he's a Hall of Fame player in the regular season
as well. That is really rare. Blue Jays Dodger Stadium tonight,
Game four, We're all rooting for nine innings. That's a
