Speaker 2 (00:21):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Well, we got we have some really really interesting matchups
as we head into the Thanksgiving weekend. With that forty
six years at NFL Films, Greg Cosells joining us, we
all get smarter, all right. So I thought that was
about as well as Caleb has played last week. He
still misses layups. He had three passes in the first

(00:48):
half that couple sailed. Philadelphia's defense, especially defensive interior linebacker
is rangey and fast and aggressive. The corners are good
thoughts on what you're seeing from Caleb and how it
matches with that Philadelphia defense.

Speaker 3 (01:05):
Yeah, I thought Caleb for the most part last week
was very controlled, very calculated. The biggest issue that he
has and I heard you're talking about the completion percentage,
But the thing is he misses routine throws. Those are
throws you can miss if he can clean that up,
then his growth will be really really positive. He's cut
down a bit, of course. I thought his old line

(01:26):
last week did a very very good job against a
tough Steelers pass rush. Obviously high Smith has been out,
but I thought the old line did a really good job.
They played Osie Trapillo, the rookie from Boston College at
left tackle. I thought he played really well, so he
was very controlled, very calculated, and I think the more
he plays like that. You know, the number one stat

(01:48):
for me, and you spoke about a lot of stats,
but really, for me, I think the best stat that
really reflects a sense of growth is he does not
get sacked a lot. And you and I both know
at USC he got sacked a ton, and last year
he got sacked a ton. And most people, as soon
as you see a quarterback get sacked, they think it's
on the old line. That's actually not the case. More

(02:09):
sacks are the results of the quarterback than the old line.
And this year he's not getting sacked much at all.
I think he's only been sacked fifteen or sixteen times.
So to me, that's a sure sign of his better
understanding of the offense. The offensive concepts, and obviously he's
playing with a new coordinator, so he's developing very nicely.

Speaker 1 (02:29):
Philadelphia's offense, Saquon Barkley is a non factor. Now, is
it like baseball? Like in baseball, there's arm fatigue, Like
a guy comes off of Big three hundred a year
in spring training, it's it's a dead arm. I mean,
it just doesn't feel like he's got the juice. Or
is it the OC? Is it the old line? How

(02:49):
do we describe what's going on with Saquon and the
Eagles offense?

Speaker 3 (02:54):
I mean, I would say the old line is the
biggest culprit Colin. I would say that Jurgens has not
played anywhere near as well as he did a year ago.
The same can be said for Landon Dickerson at left guard,
and Jordan may Alatta has not played well this year
at all. So what's happening is Barkley does not get
past the first level of the defense. Last year, he

(03:15):
had the most yards gained before first contact of any
back in the league. This year he's near the very bottom.
He only gains about two yards before first contact, so
he's not getting past the first level of the defense.
So it's almost hard to tell you know, what Barkley
is because you're not seeing him get out into space.

(03:37):
I mean when he ran sixty five yards for a
touchdown a number of weeks ago on the second play
of the game, he ran away from the defense with
no problem. But the old line, to me, has been
the biggest culprit. You know, you can always get into
other things, you can try. You know, that's not the
way the Eagles have played. The Eagles are basically sticking

(03:57):
with the formula of that, hey, we have to execute
what we do better. And this year that hasn't worked
because the O Lion has not been able to play
very well.

Speaker 1 (04:07):
So Shanor Sanders I said, I had predicted he'll be
thirteen to eighteen, and he was thereabouts. I said, he'll
have one ugly pick. I think the best thing I
can say is that he doesn't there's a looseness. He's
kind of a you know, sometimes to his detriment. He
doesn't let the game. He's not intimidated. I don't think

(04:30):
he gets necessarily frenetic. He does throw the ball down
the field more than Dylan Gabriel. But when I watched
him Greg, I'm like, oh, that's kind of what I
saw at Colorado. He misses, he can miss badly, but
overall he gives him a more of a big play component,
doesn't He.

Speaker 3 (04:48):
Well his best play and it was a great play.
And there's no way to say that other than that
was that long past to Isaiah Bond on third down
when they win zero blitz and he was forced out
of the pocket immediately, and he threw it to Bond.
The ball traveled sixty yards in the air. That was
against zero coverage. It was a great ball. But for

(05:10):
the most part, Colin, they didn't ask him to do
very much. I watched that tape and anytime it was
third and long, there was a screen, either a conventional
screen or a tunnel screen to a white out. The
touchdown to Samson here came on third and long, and
it jacked up his yardage obviously, So it was a
tough game. To get a true read on what he is.

(05:32):
We'll need to see a game, because they controlled that game.
They were never really there was no sense in that
game that Cleveland was not in control of the game.
So we need to see a lot more. I came
away from that tape and I know people want to
make immediate judgments about him based on whatever their point
of view is. But this was not a game to
make any kind of definitive judgment about your doors.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
Sanders, I claim after watching Brought thirty on Monday, his
toes not right all three of his picks, two of
them especially behind the receiver, and didn't have a ton
of velocity. Now he does have multiple picks in four
of his five starts, right there is I you know, listen,
professional athletes, Lamar Jackson, I don't think one hundred percent

(06:15):
they're not going to go out and advertise it. I
didn't think pretty had the velocity. I thought his ball
just I mean, he kept throwing behind people. What did
you make of it?

Speaker 3 (06:24):
Well, I think that when Purdy's at his best, he
is a high level post snap processor and with incredible anticipation.
I think both those things which made him so good
his first two years in his career and even much
of last season. You're not seeing those two things at
the same level that we've seen them in the past.

(06:46):
And that's what he has to play as because he's
not a velocity thrower to begin with. Colin, as you know,
he's not a guy that's going to sit on his
back foot and drive the football at the intermediate level.
So right now, the post snap operation for him is
not quite at the same level we've seen before, and
what happens there the result of that is the anticipation

(07:08):
is just a notch late, and that's what we saw
the first interception by Horn, not the one we're looking
at now, but the first one was a classic example
of that. He was just a beat late, turning it loose,
and it allowed Horn to undercut Jennings. So this is
the one I'm speaking about. The last interception by Horn.
You really can't put on party. That was about as

(07:29):
good a play by a corner as you'll ever see.
There's no way that a quarterback would have accounted for
Horn on the play we're looking at right now.

Speaker 1 (07:37):
Okay, let's talk Chiefs Cowboys. Yeah, you know, we all
kind of you know, pulp fun at Jerry Jones, but
overshown now that he's healthy. He was great at Texas.
He is a player. They're still getting pressure on the
quarterback without Micah. Quinton Williams and Kenny Clark have made
it much more difficult to run on them. I mean,

(08:01):
this defense, and they're gonna get an edge rusher in
the draft. They got two first round picks. You know
they're going to address that. I don't know. I like
my eyes tell me just on their defense. Forget offense.
Yet on defense, right, they're pretty athletic, That's what I see.

Speaker 3 (08:17):
Yeah, I mean those three interior d linemen with Williams,
with Clark and Dickie Zua are really really good and
they were a problem last week for the Eagles. Their
concern and their linebacker. You mentioned overshowing their linebacker position.
They're playing a lot of guys, they have a deep rotation.
They're clearly more athletic. The concern for them is at

(08:38):
the corner position, and that weakness and I believe it's
a weakness can crop up in any game and you
never know when that'll be. It did not hurt them
in any great way last week against Philadelphia, but that's Philadelphia.
Now they're playing the Chiefs, and the Chiefs are a
very odd passing team. Mahomes could be one of the

(08:58):
most unique players that I've ever evaluated and studied throughout
his career, Colin, because he's not really a pocket technician
the way we think of pocket technicians. He's truly a playmaker,
and he has unbelievable vision, unbelievable awareness of what he's seeing.
Now he can make throws from the pocket. I don't

(09:19):
want to suggest he can't do that, but when you
watch their tape week in and week out and study
every play as I do when I watch the coaching tape,
you don't see a ton of refined subtlety in their
past game, particularly at the intermediate level. Mahomes has the
most passing attempts, most passing completions, and most passing yards

(09:40):
behind the line of scrimmage of any quarterback in the league.
It's a very odd mix, but he's He's just a
different cat, and he's very difficult to play against.

Speaker 1 (09:50):
Listen, I say this about the Cowboys. Dak is having
a year. Two star receivers, The young old line is
a little unpredictable and pass pro pretty good run blocking line.
It seems to me their very guards are really good,
really good guards. Very few three and outs, They're excellent
on third down. Still too many penalties, but we can

(10:13):
credit Dak Schottenheimer, George Pickens. This offense is absolutely legit.
There's no reason. I mean, Jerry Jones may be a
better GM than we give him credit for. But on film,
I think they can really go after defense in the
draft because I like that. But I see I think
it's an elite exceptional offense.

Speaker 3 (10:33):
Well, I bet most people would be surprised by this
given stat Javonte Williams has the second most first down
rushes of any back in the league. Why he's rarely
ever talked about, and he's averaging five point three yards
per carry on first down. The only back, believe it
or not, that has more first down rushes than Williams
is not Jonathan Taylor, It's James Cook. So they run

(10:55):
the ball on first down. This is not just a
let's toss it all over the yard passing game. And
George Pickens, you know, I remember watching him his freshman
year at Georgia, Okay, and he dominated the SEC as
a freshman at Georgia. He is so extremely gifted. Now
normally they line him up as the boundary X, the

(11:16):
single receiver to the short side of the field, but
they're starting to move him around Colin and he is
a very very difficult cover. And just in terms of
physical athletic traits and hands, he's a top five receiver
in the league. Wow.

Speaker 1 (11:30):
Yeah, No, he was something else at Georgia. All right,
let's talk Packers Lions early game on Fox nowrow. So, Now,
last week was tricky because I believe Matt Lafleur, because
Jordan Loves non throwing shoulders banged up, was protecting him.
And I also think they didn't think JJ McCarthy could
move the ball against their defense, so they were hyper conservative,
hyper and that was the game plan. But overall this

(11:53):
year I watched Green Bay and I've told the audience
they're actually good. But for the first time in thirty years,
it's their defense that feels like it carries the offense.
So that's not Green Bay. Do you think the offense
is a little broken or it's just more of their
top talents on the other side.

Speaker 3 (12:15):
I don't think the offense is broken. I think you know,
and again I don't know about Love's shoulder. Maybe that
was the reason, but I think that mattel floor is
always wanted to have a balanced offense. You know, the
one thing we did noticed last week with Love is
that he did not really push it down the field.
I think he had had only one pass attempt that
went more than twenty yards in the air from the
line of scrimmage. But we know he's capable of making

(12:37):
those throws. He does not turn the bow over very much.
He plays very controlled in effishing football. I'm sure it
wasn't on anybody's Bengal card that Emmanuel Wilson would have
twenty eight carries, but that's the way that game played out,
and I think that he wants to play that way again.
Twenty eight carries is a lot. That's more than in
most games, even if you do want to run the football.

(12:58):
But I don't think, you know from Love on tape
this year, I don't think Loves played poor football. You know,
It's just it's been one of those odd years where
they just haven't hit the same number of big explosive
plays that we've seen them hit in the past. But
this defense has played well, and I think that's in
this game where the rubber is going to meet the road.
Because the Lions, since Dan Campbell took over the play calling,

(13:20):
they really want to run the football. I think he's
gotten back to putting golf under center. They want that
for the run game, they want that for the play
action pass game, which they're really good at and have
been for a number of years. And I think that
in this particular matchup, that the Lions, particularly at home,
are going to feel like we have to line up
and we have to run the football.

Speaker 1 (13:41):
Okay, and let's talk about the Lions. Listen. Jamier Gibbs
is just doesn't even look like other I mean, he
gets shot out of a cannon. He saved him last week.
I mean he is in that. You know. No, everybody
always says don't draft a running back early. The kid
at Notre Dame, Jeremiah Love, to me, looks like a
first round running back. I don't have a problem. I
think every other year there's a running back I watch

(14:03):
in college and go Zeke Barkley, like, okay, that's a
first round running back. Gibbs. What does Jamir Gibbs look
on I know what he looks like at my television.
What she looked like on film.

Speaker 3 (14:13):
Well, I remember watching him the summer after he played
at Georgia Tech before he was transferred to Alabama, and
I thought this guy was ridiculously special then. But Gibbs,
you know what every offense looks for as explosive plays,
and he gives you that. And again it's the I
formation and the thing about Gibbs. The thing last week

(14:33):
was Gibbs played fifty snaps in Montgomery only played twenty three. Now,
I don't know if that's going to continue throughout the
rest of the season, but let's take a look at
Gibbs because I think just his speed is just crazy.
And that's the play I chose. You know, we always
talk quarterbacks, Colin, but I think when you talk about
the the Lions, you kind of have to look at
Jamir Gibbs. I mean, he's had some huge games. You

(14:56):
nailed it. He saved them last week. I mean he
gained two hundred nineteen yard rushing. Here's the play that
we want to break down. And again I spoke about
the fact that since Dan Campbell took over, you're seeing
more eye formation. You're seeing that here GoF is under center,
Gibbs is the I back. This is the way they
want to I think start their offense. And one of
the things that really stood out last week six ozer

(15:18):
line personnel. Okay, fifteen snaps of it, and they gained
thirty seven percent of their total yards out of six
oh line personnel. And Dan Skipper was the sixth O alignment,
so he played fifteen snaps and on this play with
right where he's lined up, this is a run formation
all the way, and what they're going to do here
is run outside zone to the wide side of the field.

(15:42):
So now what you're going to do here is you're
going to see the four play side blocks. And this
is done about as well as you can do it
as we watch this, and you're going to see it
in slow motion, but this is just getting a hat
on a hat. This is about as good as it
gets playside, and you can see everybody on the old
line the four oer lignement and right the tight end

(16:02):
they are blocking exceedingly well. Now the key thing with
a lot of his own runs, because what are you
trying to do? Stretch the front side and cut off
the backside. So the backside is critical, and the critical
block here is by Taylor Decker, the left tackle. This
is a really hard block. It's a backside cutoff block.

(16:22):
In fact, this is a block Colin that a lot
of O line coaches look when they evaluate college offensive linemen.
They look to see if this block can be made
because this is a really difficult block. And look what
Decker does He's able to get inside of the of
the defensive lineman. That is really hard. And then you
see the other block by the left guard here, and

(16:45):
that's the gap in which Gibbs is going to run through.
Gibbs makes himself skinny. And what do we know about Gibbs.
I mean, he is so fast. I mean when he
gets to the second level. Hey, we spoke earlier about Barkley,
He's not getting to the second level here. Gibbs gets
to the second and now third level and the juice
he has, he just outruns angles. So I'm gonna be fascinated.

(17:09):
You talked about the Packers defense. To me, that side
of the ball is the most fascinating in this matchup.
To me, the Lions offense Packers defense.

Speaker 1 (17:17):

Speaker 3 (18:12):
Turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (18:14):
This is the Herdline News.

Speaker 4 (18:16):
All right, let's start with Ceedee Lamb. Colin. You know,
it's funny Pickens is having such a good season. We're
not talking about Ceedee Lamb and all his drops. He
had three drops against the Eagles on Sunday. Remember in
Week one he also had three drops. Yep, that's kind
of crazy. He's got eight on the season. And he says, yeah,
I know that's a problem.

Speaker 5 (18:36):
It's really just like a focus on my end, honestly,
just thinking of doing two before one. And there's been
plenty of that going on. And by that I mean
I'm thinking about my next move before catching the ball
and things of that nature. Uh, it's not really much
on anybody else but myself, And I've never been a
type of really point the finger. But yes, it's all

(18:56):
I mean, I got to handle that.

Speaker 1 (18:58):
Yeah, it's mostly been against the Eagles. The two Eagle games,
he's he's really had a bunch of drops. I still
think he's a number one. He's just maybe you know,
those are big games, those are great corners. There's a
lot of pressure in those. That's the biggest rival for him.
Maybe it's that, but listen, I still trust him if
the ball's in the air. He's a tremendous player.

Speaker 4 (19:17):
So if you're scoring at home. Remember in Vegas he
said I can hold my liquor, so he can hold
onto his liquor.

Speaker 1 (19:22):
Can't handle hold out of the football.

Speaker 4 (19:24):
Against the Eagles, obviously, CD's really good. I just wonder
if Pickens has been so good that maybe lands in
his head about shuts. I mean, Pickens got more looks
than he did, more targets last well, they did.

Speaker 1 (19:37):
They're different CD in that, but CD gets real separation,
whereas I always feel like Pickens is stronger, more of
a less catching rate. Yeah he's but he's so good
after the catch. I mean, there, listen, there. I always
thought Pickens was a talented two. I wouldn't build around him.
He's been a dominant one this year.

Speaker 4 (19:56):
Yeah, all right, let's move on to Jayden Daniels, a
forgotten man, a forgotten season. The Washington quarterback something that
nasty elbow injury on November second head coach Dan Quinn
said this week Daniels is set to return to practice,
but he has not yet been cleared for contact. Colin,
just help me make sense of this. They're three and eight,

(20:17):
They're not going to the playoffs, and Jaden Daniels is
out here saying if I'm back out there unhealthy, I'm
ready to go. I want to be out there, like
I don't know, I'm extra cautious with stars in the NBA,
in the NFL. I don't want to see Jadon Daniels
on the field again this season. What's the point.

Speaker 1 (20:34):
Tell me he's a pro athlete and he's competitive and
wants to play. I mean that's great. Yeah, in any field.
You're healthy, you're aggressive, you're competitive. I want to be
on the field. I think I have no problem him playing.
I really don't. I think young quarterbacks need more reps.
This one thing again, if he was thirty seven years old,
it was Matt Stafford or Aaron that's different. Young guys.

(20:55):
Get him out there. He's still in the learning process
of how to be a quarterback. Get him snap.

Speaker 4 (21:00):
Yeah, he's also learning how to play behind that rotten
offensive line, which is getting them killed, and so he's
running for his life and getting hurt. Colin that you
get injured in December and it's major, You're gonna miss
part of next seas. You can't.

Speaker 1 (21:11):
You can't think about that. Now you know what you
could do.

Speaker 4 (21:13):
You can have them on the headset, listening on the sideline,
and you get.

Speaker 1 (21:16):
A higher draft pick.

Speaker 4 (21:17):
How about this? Would you rather win six games, go
six and eleven with Jaden Daniels playing down the stretch
and pick eleventh, or win four games and draft I
don't know, fifth with Jayden and Daniels sitting. Think about
the long term.

Speaker 1 (21:31):
I think either fifth or eleventh, you're getting a starter.
You're probably getting an offensive tackle that starts at left
or right for you because there's three great oh tackles
and they'll at least two of them will be available
by the eleventh pick. So what they want, they're gonna
get regardless.

Speaker 4 (21:45):
And by the way, they have two games left against
the Eagles, who will be fighting for the number one seed.
You want your quarterback for suiting up against those Eagles.
That defense is nasty. Here's a commando schedule. Yeah, I mean,
come on, and for defense, that's a nasty unit. Brian Flores,
all he wants to do is blitz the New York Giants, Eagles, Cowboys.

Speaker 1 (22:08):
I don't know, man, I'm extra cautions.

Speaker 4 (22:10):
Just mark me down as I want my stars healthy
when it matters, and this game don't mean anything. Final story, Colin,
There's been a lot of rumors about one that Kevin
Stefanski intentionally withholding opportunities from Shador Sanders. I think we
both think this is laughable. However, Cleveland's new quarterback one Shaduur,

(22:31):
talked about his relationship with Stefanski. Here we go.

Speaker 6 (22:35):
Definitely like a coach, you know. He tells me what
I need to do on and off the field. We've
definitely grown our relationship and everything is grown. So I'm
just thankful to be here. I'm definitely not comfortable though,
so that's first and foremost that I have another opportunity
to go out there. But in life, you gotta understand
how quickly things come or how long it comes. It

(22:57):
could be taken at any point in time.

Speaker 1 (23:00):
Yeah, I like that.

Speaker 4 (23:01):
Is there any is there any coded language there? It
can be taken at any point in time. Our relationship
has grown. Imagine if after year one I came on
the Herd, I'm like Colin, our relationship has grown. It
did that's read you didn't like me at the beginning.

Speaker 1 (23:13):
No, that's that you eventually stopped wearing bicep shirts and
grew up. J Mack with the news.

Speaker 2 (23:22):
Well that's the news, And thanks for stopping by the Herd, Lie.

Speaker 1 (23:26):
Nice, I'm interested to see j Max picks. We have
a fun show. What a fun week Uh, it's the Herd.

Speaker 2 (23:33):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd weekdays.
And noone Easter, not a Empacific.

Speaker 1 (23:40):
Thanksgiving is upon us, and the NFL is serving up
a full plate of matchups beginning tomorrow right here on Fox.
I already, I already I have J Max five picks.
His last pick is is I already know which way
it's going because it's a really great pick. And uh,
and I know exactly what you're gonna say. Why you

(24:00):
like the team you like. But well, we'll let the
audience wait for about five minutes. But I think your
last pick is really a sharp pick. So we call
this tomorrow's headlines today Packers Lions. I think we disagree here.
What do you say?

Speaker 2 (24:15):
Yeah?

Speaker 4 (24:15):
You know, listen, I love the Thanksgiving games. First of all,
Casey Dallas gonna be great. We'll get there shortly. But
this game I'm fascinated with, Colin. I really do believe
one of these teams could be super Bowl bound. The
headline for Packers Lions will be let me see you,
Cassie roll, Motown gets green baked. Yes, sir, give me
the Green Bay Packers here, Colin, how about this stat

(24:37):
This is the first time the Packers have been underdogs
all season. First time. I'm telling you there's a big
disconnect between with the public seas with Green Bay and
what they've seen this season and what the market thinks.
I'm just telling you, if you think the Packers are
the side this week, you probably want to bet them
to win the super Bowl, because I'm telling you this
is a great matchup for the Packers. They run a
lot of stunts, right, Colin, Where Michael Parson starts on

(24:59):
the edge and then come guess we're Detroit's weakest interior
offensive line. Goff got beat up last week by the Giants.
And speaking of last week, I know you want to
kind of poop poo it ouh. That was a look
ahead game. I get that. You know that's fine. They were.
The defense was on the field for seventy seven plays
against Jameis Winston and company. Okay, I think even though
Love has a busted up shoulder and he had to

(25:20):
hand off with his right hand regardless of which side,
not great. I think the Packers have some success. Keep
an eye on Christian Watson against the Detroit man defense.
Watson to Berner indoors, there's a world where he rupts.
I'm starting him in all my fantasy leagues. I like
the Packers.

Speaker 1 (25:36):
Here Colin Tomorrow's headlines today Chiefs at the Cowboys.

Speaker 4 (25:42):
I think I'm five and oh picking against the Chiefs
the season. You know that was my off season. Take
I'm a public enemy number one in case, the headline
for Chiefs Cowboys will be simply see delicious boys pickings
their teeth and go dack for seconds. Yes, I'm going
with Dallas here. It's weird. This is the same team

(26:03):
Colin that lost to Arizona at home, remember that a
couple of weeks ago. Yeah, and then they lost to
Carolina on the road. And we know Carolina is not good.
But for whatever reason, for the big boys, Dallas shows up.
Both games against Philly were really close and tight, and
they pulled one out. I do believe this Dallas offense
is going to give Casey a world of problems. You know, Spagnolo,
what's his DNA blitz blitz blitz you had the SAT earlier.

(26:26):
Dak's like one of the best quarterbacks in the league
against a blitz this season. And I know McDuffie is
thought of a superstar. He's better on the inside. He's
playing a lot of outside. He's having a good season,
but he's not like a lockdown corner that he was
when they had Snead on the outside. Now, just to
be clear, Kansas City first indoor game this season, yea
Worthy and Rice they could eat. But what I Kansas

(26:49):
City weird? Like the last three weeks, Colin, They've played
run heavy teams Denver, Buffalo, and then last week. I'm
forgetting of a Colt with Jonathan Taylor. Dallas is not
run heavy, so I do believe there's gonna be points here.
I'm on the over and give me the three and
a half the hook if you can get it, Dallas Cowboys.
I like him to win outright, Colin?

Speaker 1 (27:07):
All right, Tomorrow's headlines today Big AFC South battle Texans
better at home usually at the Colts.

Speaker 4 (27:14):
Yeah, you know, not a sexy game, but this is
one of my bigger ones this month. The headline for
Colts Texans will be lost track of time, Texans salty
after dashes of Danny. Yes, I do believe the Texans
are overvalued here coming off that win against Buffalo. By
the way, Buffalo's tackles were both beat up in that game.

(27:36):
Neither of them is practicing right now, so that's part
of why Will Anderson and Hunter look so good in
that game. At the same time, I'm keeping a track
on CJ. Shroud, so he's at practice as of like
six minutes ago. Still has not been cleared from concussion protocol.
But he might be and that would be a big
get back. But this is about the Colts. Colin, remember
the last few games they played outdoors at Pittsburgh. Look

(27:57):
kind of slow. They played outdoors last week against Casey
look kind of slow. The game in Berlin didn't have
the same pop. They're coming back to the Dome now, Colin.
I think this is a Psichen special. Danny Dimes has
a real big game, and keep an eye on Jonathan
Taylor obviously on the ground. I like the Colts here
at home. Sauce Gardner also versus Nico Collins. I think
that's a good matchup. I don't know if you saw

(28:19):
this the Patrick Mahomes passing chart last week. He did
not throw to the left side of the field at all,
like zero completions. Sauce Gardner was over there a lot,
so I think Sauce really changes the calculus of this defense.
I like the Colts.

Speaker 1 (28:31):
Tomorrow's headlines today. I got a feeling I know where
you're leaning here, Raiders at the Chargers. Chargers off al bye, So.

Speaker 4 (28:39):
Me and a buddy are still alive in Survivor and
we like the Chargers this week. I know divisional matchups
are scary, but the headline for Chargers Raiders will be
much ado about stuffing Chargers keep the gent y in
a bottle. That's assuming GENTI even plays. Colin he got
busted up the ankle. I mean, listen, the Raiders are
in disarray. I don't know what to make of your boy,

(29:01):
Chip Kelly. He got fired. They fired his right hand man.
I mean, they got some guy who's been there forever
calling plays. I don't really understand how they have a
chance here against Harbor and company. Did you see what
Harbaugh did, by the way, for the team, gave them
extra days off on the bye week just to kind
of recalibrate, chill out, get your mind right after getting
spanked by the Jags. I think the Chargers are okay here.

(29:23):
By the way, they destroyed the Raiders in two matchups
last season. I think a big coaching edge for Harball.
And they have Derwin James. Remember he's like the Travis
Kelcey stopper. I think he does a good enough job
on Brock Bowers did a good job twice last season
that I think the Chargers get it done. Really hoping
that o'mary and Hampton, the great rookie running back, I
hope he returns. Still no clarity if he's going to

(29:44):
be back this week.

Speaker 1 (29:45):
This final one. I think I probably should have included
this in the Blazing Five. Tomorrow's headlines today, the weary
Giants travel again, this time to the Patriots.

Speaker 4 (29:58):
Yeah, Giants don't what to make of this team. So
they covered against Detroit. They nearly beat Green Bay outright,
they got to push there. Jamis is showing up. Do
you start him again? Or Jackson Dart? The headline for
Patriots Giants on Sunday will be digs in a Blanket.
Pat's wrap things up before dinner. I'm rolling with Drake
mate a little reluctantly, Colin. I just saw the news.

(30:21):
Will Campbell, the rookie left tackle, just placed on ir
so he's out this week for the next four. That's
not great news given the Giants having an edge rusher's
galore with Brian Burns and company. So I have some skepticism.
But this is just basically hand the ball off to
Stevenson and Henderson and let them cook.

Speaker 3 (30:41):
Right.

Speaker 4 (30:41):
The Giants have the worst run defense in the league
by a mile. Gibbs just went for two fifteen or
whatever on the ground, so I think this is pretty easy.
But I do wonder con in the back of my
head are the Patriots like getting a little fatigued? Is
the pressure wearing on them because they have not looked
amazing the last couple weeks. That again, Cincinnati was disappointing
all the failures inside the five yard line. So I'm

(31:04):
on the Patriots here. I like a flat seven better
than a seven and a half.

Speaker 3 (31:08):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (31:09):
Jameis Winston keeps shocking me the way he's playing. I
did not see this out of him. But I'm rolling
with the Patriots here as big favorites.

Speaker 1 (31:15):
You know, we talked about it this week is I've
never never really thought about it this way, but something
just came up to me watching Jameis Winston this week
is that there's three kinds of quarterbacks. There's franchise guys,
and there's always been backups. And you can tell the
backups they get drafted fourth, fifth, sixth, seventh round, or
it's a high round pick that you know pretty early's

(31:36):
not going to work. Jamis is the classic to me bridge.
You can start him for a year and win eight
or nine games. I think honestly, right now in Carolina
they're trying to figure out what Bryce Young is. Is
he like the best bridge in the league because he's
all over the map, I mean, in the he's got

(31:57):
two good receivers, he's got a start back. The defense
is better, He's all over the map. He's in the
eighties on pack, and he's got an offensive coach. Bryce
Young should be better. It's also a weak Wonky division,
so it's like it's Bryce Young. Mac Jones, by the way,
I think is a great bridge. I'm not building around
him now. I think Sam Darnold is a franchise guy.

(32:18):
I'll think a lot of people before Seattle were very
you know, they were very cynical, like it was Minnesota.
Now you watch him and you're like, Okay, he's a
franchise guy. Winning record Carolina, great year, Minnesota, great year
in Seattle, Mac Jones bridge guy. I think Bryce Young
probably falls into that. But when you ask about Jameis Winston,
he is the classic bridge. Like you're not gonna build

(32:39):
around him and hire coordinators for him. But dude, if
I said against the Patriots he threw for four touchdowns,
you would not be shocked. And he also threw three picks.

Speaker 4 (32:49):
Let me ask you, if you mentioned Bryce Young as
a bridge guy, do you keep him one more year?
You do not extend him, and you draft a guy
like Carson Beck, which is his bowler opposite. I know
nobody likes Beck. Listen, and he's going to be drafted. Okay,
he's sixty four with a huge arm. He's the opposite
of young who's small and was highly touted. So I
think you're probably onto something there. All I know is,

(33:09):
if Jamis is a bridge, I don't want him bridging
anybody with the New York Jets. Keep him with the Giants.

Speaker 1 (33:14):
No, no, no, maybe it's two weeks of fourth gold.

Speaker 4 (33:16):
I don't want him with the Jets.

Speaker 1 (33:17):
I mean, I think justin field, we've gotten to a point. Yeah,
he may just be a backup. Yeah, he's definitely not.

Speaker 4 (33:23):
Even a bridge.

Speaker 1 (33:23):
No, yeah, no, he's moved out of the bridge. But there,
I will say. In this quarterback class, I think Mac Jones.
I'll tell you another guy that's very interesting, Davis Mills.
All right, to tell you, I'm watching him to.

Speaker 4 (33:38):
Go into Week one starting Davis Mills, and your whole
team is going to think, like, what are we doing?
We're not going to the World Dams.

Speaker 1 (33:43):
I thought he was pretty good against the Bills. He's solid.
Come on, what maybe I like Bridges more than you.
I'm getting old. I'll start playing bridge here pretty quick.
