You're listening to Fox Sports Radio.

Speaker 1 (00:26):
Chris Peterson fourteen years in college football, made a bowl
appearance every year, won four games for everyone, he lost
four and a half. So one of the great all
time college football coaches of all time. He's joining us
live from the Pacific Northwest. He was at the Seahawks
Rams game and we were talking off air, you know
McVeigh pretty well. I asked about the quarterbacks, and I

(00:51):
want you to share what you did with about Matt
Stafford and how blown away you are because you were
at the game last night.

Speaker 3 (00:59):
Yes.

Speaker 4 (01:00):
So I've had a chance to be around the Rams
a little bit over the last couple of years, seeing
in practice, see how he studies, see how he treats guys,
and then how he processes. You know, Sean's got this
unbelievable system of offensive football, but it's very worthy as well.
I mean a lot of players are twenty words long.

(01:22):
This guy has a photographic memory. He does not wear
a wristband to call the plays off. He knows the
entire game plan, the arm angles that he throws with,
how he processes, how fast he gets through things, the
accuracy that he throws, and he's not a runner.

Speaker 3 (01:39):
It is truly amazing.

Speaker 4 (01:41):
And I have so much appreciation watching this greatness. When
you get a chance to see behind the scenes a
little bit, it is phenomenal like this, No look past
that we're looking at. It's crazy like he does it
every game. It is a true master of his craft
every Sunday.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
For the record, you coached Pooka at Washington, you recruited him,
got him. Tell me what you thought of him as
a true freshman in Seattle.

Speaker 4 (02:11):
Well, we played him as a true freshman, and we
had some pretty good receivers, I'll say that.

Speaker 3 (02:16):
And I saw this in high school.

Speaker 4 (02:18):
I think he was the all time leading high school
receiver in the state of Utah. And you'd see him
catch these phenomenal passes. The harder the catch, the more
you felt.

Speaker 3 (02:32):
Like he was gonna make it.

Speaker 4 (02:34):
And then he comes up here to Washington, and it
was the same thing. He just made all these tough catches.
The harder the catch, the more you knew he was
gonna make it. The body control, strong hands, really great
football IQ of feeling the game. Yeah, it was a
blessing to be able to coach him for the short.

Speaker 3 (02:56):
Time that I did.

Speaker 1 (02:57):
I remember that team. You had some NFL receivers and
he played as freshman.

Speaker 5 (03:00):
I remember that, yep.

Speaker 4 (03:02):
And he was just starting to come on halfway through
his freshman year and he ended up breaking his foot
just planning weird.

Speaker 3 (03:10):
So you could feel all this that he was going
to just do some really really special things.

Speaker 1 (03:15):
So you go to the college football playoffs, and it's
different than a bowl game. I mean, you had great
bowl success. Now now, especially if you're in an Oregon
or Georgia Ohio state, you got you gotta have three
four games back to back.

Speaker 5 (03:31):
How would it's very NFL And that's.

Speaker 1 (03:33):
Why I like that Ryan Day went and got Chip
Kelly NFL experience, Matt Patricia NFL experience. I do think
it's different than your old bull style. How would you
coach a little different knowing it could be the first
of two, three or four games?

Speaker 4 (03:48):
Yeah, I think you're coaching it like, Okay, we're gonna
get a chance to get rested up, recharged, healed up
a little bit, and then we're going to play this
three to four game season. But it's all good on good.
So I don't like the huge layoffs you know that
some of these buy teams have. I think you get

(04:08):
out everybody that's got a buys in a great rhythm
right now, and now all you're doing is taking them
out of the rhythm. So I think that's and we
saw it last year a little bit because of the
matchups were uneven. But you know, we saw some of
these seated teams that had buys lose and everyone's going on, well,
part of it is you lose your rhythm.

Speaker 3 (04:27):
And so I think it's a new season, fresh start.

Speaker 4 (04:32):
All the things that we've learned, all the hard things
that we've been through, we take those lessons forward and
it is all in all we got. The cool thing
is is now school is now behind us. I know
nobody talks about academics anymore in college football and college
but that is real and that is a thing. And
so now finals are behind us and we can just

(04:54):
go and it's kind of pro football ish being at
our best. You always, as a coach, the thing one
of the things always, whether you're playing in a bowl
game before college football playoffs, are we playing.

Speaker 3 (05:05):
Our best at the end of the year.

Speaker 4 (05:07):
That is a goal and I think everybody that's you
know in this tournament is doing that.

Speaker 2 (05:13):

Speaker 1 (05:52):
You saw Fernando Mendoz at Cal and he wasn't this good?
Are you surprised at his growth? Because you saw him
at Cal and it was up and down.

Speaker 4 (06:03):
I am so surprised at the entire Indiana program.

Speaker 3 (06:09):
Like last year.

Speaker 4 (06:10):
When Signetti came in there, I was like, yeah, wow,
he kind of hit it big and that was impressive,
and then to come back and do it again, and
you're right. I did get a chance to watch Fernando
at CAL and it was like, Wow, what an impressive throw,
But then.

Speaker 3 (06:24):
You'd have some throws or some things that would kind
of really hurt them. And how he's grown.

Speaker 4 (06:30):
In this Indiana offense with Signetti and company has been
nothing short of amazing.

Speaker 3 (06:35):
I mean it really was.

Speaker 4 (06:36):
I thought, you know, before Cal was like some good
a lot, just good enough to get your beat. Now
this guy is truly an elite college player.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
I mean, he can move good.

Speaker 4 (06:46):
The accuracy doesn't have an cannon for an arm, but
it's plenty strong enough, and throws like this.

Speaker 7 (06:53):
Wow.

Speaker 3 (06:53):
I mean I've been so impressed.

Speaker 4 (06:56):
And you know, I had a chance this year actually
to vote for the Heisman Trophy, and I mean I
went back so hard between Pobby and him, and I
actually did vote for Fernando as the as the winner,
with a super super close second to Pavia.

Speaker 1 (07:12):
You know, it's interesting the nil Marcus Freeman's name gets mentioned.
They're one of the last teams that didn't make it.
And I look at it and I think, well, he
can make a lot of money. But he's making a
lot of money now he can control personnel. But college football,
some would say it's like a poor man's NFL. You're
paying everybody. You know, it's constant free agency. But some coaches,

(07:35):
I mean, Signetty may like it. He's older. He didn't
want to just do recruiting for high school. Like he
may like to write some checks and not have to
go on the road as much. For a guy like
Marcus Freeman, who's got the young guy energy, would you
consider the NFL or stay at Notre Dame.

Speaker 3 (07:51):
I love Marcus Freeman. I like Notre Dame a lot.

Speaker 4 (07:56):
I think it's really a bummer that they are left
out of this playoff because I look at it like this,
this is a team that could have a chance to
win the tournament and you're left out.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
That hurts.

Speaker 4 (08:08):
Now should in my opinion, they have gone in over Miami.
No Miami beat them, and there is enough closeness between it,
Like if we beat you and our records are the same,
as schedules are similar, I should go in.

Speaker 3 (08:21):
But I'm just saying this, Colin.

Speaker 4 (08:23):
I mean, I think college football is so nuts right
now and so crazy. If I'm a Marcus Freeman type
young coach, big career in front of me, I'm looking
really hard at the NFL because it's just it's just
twenty four to seven, three sixty five of nonsense.

Speaker 3 (08:39):
The good part is Saturdays, when we get to play
the game. We all love them, the coaches love them.

Speaker 4 (08:43):
But the behind the scenes is like, you can't make
up this stuff.

Speaker 3 (08:47):
What's going on.

Speaker 4 (08:49):
Coaches right now are looking at players to add to
their team, of players.

Speaker 3 (08:55):
That aren't even in the portal yet. I think got a.

Speaker 4 (08:57):
List of Oh, here's the good running backs, here's the
good receiver, and they're not in the portal, but they
know that they can go bit them right into the portal.

Speaker 3 (09:05):
And it's just the crazy. I mean, that's a tip
of the iceberg.

Speaker 4 (09:08):
So if I had an owner that I thought was
outstanding and the GM and I'm sold to Soul and
got alignment with that, I'm looking really hard at the
NFL because it's just a better way of life right now.

Speaker 3 (09:22):
And I would never have said that eight years ago.

Speaker 1 (09:25):
I think Ohio State's the best team. Indiana maybe too
talk about the Buckeyes. Do you would you favor them
going in because Georgia is good, but they're not Georgia
three years ago.

Speaker 5 (09:36):
Georgia won a lot of close games.

Speaker 4 (09:39):
I think it is interesting because I think you're talking
about the right thing. When I look at this tournament,
I kind of have it a lot like you had
your picks. I can't wait to see this Georgia Ohio
State matchup. I mean that is going to be for real.
And I have loved Ohio State all year long. I
think Julian's saying is so good. I cannot believe the kids,

(10:02):
a red shirt freshman and the weapons that he has
to throw to the running games coming along. So I've
been all about Ohio State all year long. But I'm
changing my pick here because what I don't like is
the coaches that are moving that have taken head jobs
that are moving on, or the head coaches that are

(10:22):
moving on.

Speaker 3 (10:24):
I think that is very distracting and un settling.

Speaker 4 (10:26):
And the fact that Brian Hartline did a great job,
He's got a new job, whether he's with him or not.

Speaker 3 (10:32):
I think that's that's a big thing.

Speaker 4 (10:36):
So I think George has been so sneaky good all
year long. I probably like Georgia maybe over Ohio State
right now. And I'm really surprised I'm even saying that.
And so I could see Indiana Georgia in a really
cool championship game.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
But I'm not betting against Kirk Signetti.

Speaker 4 (10:56):
I mean, I've been doing that for too long now,
and that guy just keeps proven everybody wrong and himself
and his team. Right.

Speaker 1 (11:05):
Uh, finally, Michigan job is open. Let's say Kaylan Devor
loses tonight, Michigan calls him up and said it, Kaylan,
we want you, whether he takes it or not. There's
an argument. I remember talking to coaches about this. They're like,
the SEC is different, the Big tens intense, but Michigan's
not Bama on the intensity scale. As a former coach,

(11:28):
they're both blue bloods Michigan Bama.

Speaker 5 (11:31):
Coin flip.

Speaker 1 (11:32):
Which would wish to you as a better job, family life,
whether intensity, competition, what's the better job.

Speaker 3 (11:41):
For me? Is that what we're saying? Or for Kaylin and.

Speaker 5 (11:47):
For you your general, for you, what would you take?

Speaker 3 (11:51):
It's not close.

Speaker 4 (11:52):
It would be Michigan, all right, you know, it just
means more in sec like they are for real, those
fans are so unforgiving. It is when now and now
you're following the greatest of all time?

Speaker 3 (12:07):
So how do you meet those standards?

Speaker 4 (12:10):
And the fact that people are even talking about, well,
if he doesn't win this game against Oklahoma, maybe it's time. Well,
are we not just pro even if he does win it?
Are we just not prolonging that conversation for next season
or a game or two later, like all or nothing
mentality like that is a very hard way to exist.

(12:31):
And so I just I think that is the if
there's anybody that could fit it, as Kaylin, he's such
a special person. He's one of the best coaches in
the country. I just think that job is so difficult.
And Michigan's been you know, down a bit by their
standards since you know, the last couple of years, and

(12:54):
I think the fan base still expectations kind of unrealistic,
like all true.

Speaker 3 (12:59):
Great and bases are. But it does seem like that
is could fit pretty well.

Speaker 1 (13:05):
Yeah, same thing, Chris Peterson, you look great. I know
you're happy. You still do some stuff obviously with us
at Fox and the University of Washington, and it's just
great to see a happy Holidays to you and the fam.

Speaker 3 (13:17):
Appreciate you calling you two.

Speaker 4 (13:19):
And this is the fun time of the year because
now football gets really good.

Speaker 3 (13:24):
It does.

Speaker 1 (13:25):
It's college with a little touch of NFL, the playoff format.
Good stuff. Chris Peterson. Yeah, the Vama Oklahoma game is
the hard one for me. Is I probably think the
better defense at home. Oklahoma's had Alabama's number, but Kaylin
de Boro will have these halves like the first half.
I would take Alabama because I saw what they did

(13:45):
at Georgia in the first half Kaylin's game plans. I
watched them at Washington. They are wicked. I think it's
a really close, really close game. I don't think Oklahoma
can win a shootout. So if it gets high scoring,
you take Bama. Feels twenty four to twenty three to me.

Speaker 3 (14:03):
J Mack with a news no, no turn on the news.

Speaker 2 (14:07):
This is the herd line news, right.

Speaker 8 (14:10):
Colin Sneaky good games Sunday on Fox. Chargers at the Cowboys.
It's kind of buried in the deck in the early games.
And it's interesting because it's a good clash in that
the Chargers defense has been lights out.

Speaker 5 (14:22):
They really shut.

Speaker 8 (14:23):
Down in recent weeks, the Eagles as well as the Chiefs.
Here's the problem. The offense is sputtering. Here's Jim Harbaugh
talking about what the offense has been like the last
couple of weeks.

Speaker 9 (14:34):
Chiefs and the Eagles. I think they would love to
have our offensive production in those two games, and those
are really really good teams. Yeah, so you think their
Eagles would have rather had our offensive production or theirs? Well, Chiefs,
ours are theirs and against two really good defenses specifically

(14:56):
playing winning football specific you could be.

Speaker 3 (15:02):
Well, you know that that is very specific.

Speaker 8 (15:07):
If we're giving awards, Collin quarterback speaker of the year
at the podium's Dak coach speaker has to be Jim Horrible.
I mean every week he's coming up with funny stuff.

Speaker 5 (15:17):
Little digs there. Now, listen to. The offense has been sputtering.

Speaker 8 (15:20):
Lad mcconkey's been a ghost, He's not doing anything. Rondez
Gadsden hasn't done much. I mean, Keenan Allen, the offense
just isn't producing. Can they keep up with Dallas on
the road here?

Speaker 1 (15:31):
Yeah, I mean I think it's a much better defense.
Coaching edge defensive edge.

Speaker 5 (15:36):
And the game. The games now matter a lot for
the Chargers.

Speaker 1 (15:39):
Now, now Dallas, you know, with a defensive coordinator getting
called out by Jerry Jones, you'll probably get an inspired
effort by Dallas. But I you know, when I get
a quarterback, coach, defense edge and Dak's played well, I'd
probably take the Chargers.

Speaker 5 (15:54):
It's interesting.

Speaker 8 (15:55):
So jesse Minter, I believe he's he's going to be
like the number one candidate for many teams.

Speaker 5 (16:00):
Colin, if you watch that the Chiefs were up thirteen
to three and a half, jesse Minter's defense held the
Chiefs to zero points in the second half in Arrowhead
with the season on the line.

Speaker 8 (16:10):
This quarter scheme that he's got cooking up. Jalen Hurts
had his worst game of the season. I mean, listen,
I don't know what to tell you. This defense, if
they could contain Dallas, I think you've got to consider
mintor the favorite for either Tennessee or Dallas or one
of these jobs. I mean, he's just been outstanding. I
was leaning Cowboys, but it's probably a pass for me.

(16:32):
Next up, let's go to Jackson Dart. You seem to
think that there's something there a colonel of a franchise quarterback.

Speaker 5 (16:38):
Yeah, we'll see.

Speaker 8 (16:40):
Interestingly, this year's Hard Knocks in season, there was a
fascinating clip that circulated about Dan Quinn as well as
the Commander's defensive coordinator encouraging their players to treat Dart
like a running back. They essentially were saying, don't worry
about the passing, he's a running back. Here's Dart's reaction
to hearing these coaches essentially say, treat him like a

(17:01):
running back.

Speaker 10 (17:03):
No, absolutely, absolutely not. I mean Kirby Smart said the
exact same thing every time that he played against me.
So didn Nick Saban, So did every coach that I
played in college. So this is nothing new. You know,
just try to, you know, go out there to play
smart and be available for your team.

Speaker 3 (17:18):
It just gets me excited.

Speaker 10 (17:19):
I mean, just has a competitor, Uh, you want to
go out there and compete, and you know, obviously like
their acknowledging respect you know in a way too. So
you know, I appreciate that.

Speaker 5 (17:31):
M defiant like that at all or No.

Speaker 1 (17:36):
No, I mean listen, I think it helped. He played
for a very smart offensive coach and Lane Kiffin. So
I think he is ahead of the curve where most
rookies are and his and he's been better than I thought.
I you know, I thought he was an NFL quarterback,
but I didn't think you'd have a ninety four passer
rating his last five games, He's played really, really well.

Speaker 5 (17:55):
I like I like his movement.

Speaker 1 (17:58):
You know, the blue tent stuff is the league's fast
linebackers and safeties get on you really fast. And Justin
Herbert had some of these early years. Drake may Whether
you take shots you shouldn't take, but last five games
completion percentage ten to one TD to interception ratio. You
can't deny the numbers. And this is a team without

(18:18):
a number one back, a number one dominant tight end,
or a number one receiver.

Speaker 5 (18:22):
Interesting, I'm looking at the last five games he played in.
So they lost to.

Speaker 8 (18:26):
Washington, lost to the Patriots, lost of the Bears, lost
of the Niners.

Speaker 5 (18:30):
Are you detecting a theme? Lost to the Eagles.

Speaker 8 (18:32):
So I know the numbers appear good, but on a
down to down basis, they're not that good. Dart And again,
I know you like him, Colin. Early in the season,
I was like, Oh, this guy's got something. I wonder if.

Speaker 5 (18:43):
Defense is caught up to him, because I'm not seeing
as much of a threat. Now there's no scataboo, there's
no neighbors to be fair.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
Well, thos our two best players, he didn't have his
two best guys pretty much?

Speaker 8 (18:54):
Does Dart remind you of like a Cobra Kai from
the movie Karate Kid. He's got like the blonde hair,
the kind of fine he's puffing the chest out.

Speaker 5 (19:02):
He looks like I know you laugh when I say this,
but he looks like a cool guy, you know heraim.

Speaker 1 (19:07):
Honestly, he reminds me of a more athletic Baker Mayfield.
I think I think he's a I think he's a
better runner than Baker. Maybe not Brad, but he reminds
me a little bit of Baker Mayfield. A little chip
on his shoulder. Uh, he's a better runner than Baker is,
but he's he's can be a little reckless sometimes with
his body. Baker similarly knocked out his shoulder squaring up

(19:29):
a safety after a pick.

Speaker 5 (19:31):
There's a little Baker Mayfield here. It reminds me of
my kid as well. Just he has all the answers
and it just Jackson Dart looks like he knows everything. Kellen,
we're gonna be talking about this game in headlines, very shortening. Okay,
all right, let's go. Let's go to the final story here,
and that is Pittsburgh and Detroit.

Speaker 8 (19:49):
Actually pretty good game, and you know what this is
gonna be in headliness next next segment as well. I
don't know what to make of the Lions and you know,
are they gonna get back into the playoff mix?

Speaker 3 (20:00):
Well?

Speaker 8 (20:00):
Aiden Hutchison gave us a good SoundBite. He said, the
last time he faced Aaron Rodgers, it was in his
rookie year, and you know what he did.

Speaker 5 (20:08):
He picked off the Hall of Famer as a.

Speaker 8 (20:10):
Rook Here's Hutchison talking about matching up with Rogers.

Speaker 7 (20:14):
I'd love if he threw me another one. That'd be
that'd be great. But uh no, it's he's a competitor man,
and he's he's been doing it at a high level
for a long time. So we all have a ton
of respect for him, and you know that's he's he's
a he's a he's a focus this week for sure.

Speaker 5 (20:32):
Did you did you have this in no blazon blazing five?
I forget it was the last one I dropped.

Speaker 1 (20:36):
I like Detroit got up to seven, and I said,
all pass, Yeah.

Speaker 8 (20:40):
You look at that Steelers injury report off the short week.
Take a gander at that. All right, Well we'll have
an update for you shortly. But I think there's a
good game is Detroit did though.

Speaker 5 (20:52):
In the NFC. I don't know if they can get
back in.

Speaker 1 (20:54):
I mean, they just don't teams. They don't look like
the Rams or Seattle. I'll tell you that. They don't
look like that at.

Speaker 5 (21:01):
Uh yeah, do they look like Chicago? Can we get
to that level? Forget the Rams? Yeah, they look more
like Chicago. Flawed but good. Is that a good offensive
coordinator job? By the way, Detroit, Yeah, Larry, they should
be able to get whoever they want.

Speaker 8 (21:17):
I mean, Goss Gibbs, I'm around, Radolporta will be back
next year.

Speaker 5 (21:21):
Jamison Williams like they've got all the pieces, you know.

Speaker 2 (21:24):
J Mackle the news, Well that's the news, and thanks
for stopping by The Herd line.

Speaker 5 (21:30):
New he's been on a heater. J Maxx got his picks.
Next in the Herd.

Speaker 2 (21:37):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Herd Weekdays
and Noone Easter not a Empacific.

Speaker 1 (21:45):
Next week it's Christmas week. J McK and I yule
Tide spirit, but not today, not now. It is week sixteen.
We call it Tomorrow's headlines today and let's roll it.

(22:05):
Jmack Tomorrow on Fox Packers at the Bears, who you got.

Speaker 8 (22:10):
Great game on Saturday. I know you'll be really locked
in for this rooting for your Bears. The headline for
Packers Bears on Fox will be ben if it's package
Bears get more PTO playoff time off.

Speaker 5 (22:25):
I'm rocking with you on this one.

Speaker 8 (22:26):
I like Chicago to get a little revenge on the Packers. Now,
I do have to admit there was a great SoundBite
from Jeff Haffley. I think you talked about it the
Packers defensive cordator. Essentially, he's like I prepared from February
to August for a defense in Green Bay that would
not have Michael Parsons because he was still on Dallas.
So I don't think there's a massive drop off for

(22:47):
the Packers. The problem is the injuries are mounting right.

Speaker 5 (22:49):
I mean, we're seeing the safety Williams, he's out, he
lead them in interceptions, and then how do you get
past pressure on Caleb Williams. Without Michael Parsons, the Bear's
whole line has been great.

Speaker 8 (23:00):
Yeah, they didn't have to blitz at all with Micah,
So ultimately I think Caleb in the run Gab will
be fine. But for me, the big one is I
think Dennis Allen learned his lesson in the earlier meeting.

Speaker 5 (23:09):
You can't blitz Jordan Love. You can't leave your DB's on.

Speaker 8 (23:13):
An island against Christian Watson. Now, the good news is
Watson may not play. It's looking like he's touch and go.
But they're also down Zach Tom the offensive lineman. I
do believe forty two percent last time they blitzed Love.
That number's got to drop way down. Colin Love is
just gonna kill them on the back end. So I'll
go Bears in a low scoring affair, maybe a nineteen
sixteen thriller.

Speaker 1 (23:33):
Tomorrow's headlines today, Hi Kings and JJ McCarthy against the Giants.

Speaker 5 (23:40):
Two teams with nothing to play for.

Speaker 8 (23:41):
But oh, this is gonna be fun because you know
I'm a JJ McCarthy guy, You're a Jackson Dart guy.

Speaker 5 (23:45):
We're head to head. The headline for the Vikings at
the Giants will be. We've built this gritty Minnesota Rocks
and Skulls over New York.

Speaker 4 (23:55):
Colin.

Speaker 8 (23:56):
I got a fun number for you, Okay, Brian Flores,
great defense, it's coordinator. They haven't been at full strength
much of the season. They're cooking right now. He is
against rookie quarterbacks, seven too and two against the spread.
And how about this straight up ten and one in
his career against rookie quarterbacks. He's got intricate schemes. The
rookies never know where the blitz is coming from. Van Grinkle,

(24:18):
the awesome edge rusher. You don't know where he's coming from.
And I think Dart's really going to struggle here.

Speaker 5 (24:24):
Also, I'll just say this about JJ McCarthy. I know
we've kind of pushed it to the back burner because
they're eliminated. He has shown really well the last couple
of weeks. Now, go ahead, go ahead.

Speaker 1 (24:33):
I mean it is against Dallas and the Commander's defense
also true.

Speaker 5 (24:37):
Well, you know what, it's not like the Giants already better.

Speaker 8 (24:39):
They're thirty first in the league in pass defense, so
they're not stopping anybody. And I do I know I
sound like the boy who cried Wolf Hey, Justin Jefferson,
He's due. It's gonna work. I think this is the
week that he catches fire in New York. I like
the Vikings here and somewhat convincingly.

Speaker 1 (24:55):
Tomorrow's headlines today Joe Burrow and the Bengals offush, shutout,
angry at Miami, and quinn Ewers.

Speaker 5 (25:04):
Yeah, Joe Burrow very talkative. I wonder what the.

Speaker 8 (25:06):
Media is gonna ask him about after this one. The
headline for Bengals at Dolphins will be quinn and out.
Bengals devoured Dolphins animal style. Little Hamburger action for you there, Colin.

Speaker 5 (25:20):
I like the bank.

Speaker 8 (25:21):
This is my first bet of the week before they
made the quarterback change.

Speaker 5 (25:24):
It's now up to four and a half. We don't
know what quinn Ewers is gonna do. He was a
highly claimed high school kid. He was good at Texas.
I think he got to the playoff twice.

Speaker 8 (25:33):
Here's my thing, this is a perfect setup for yours
to do some damage. The Bengals defense stinks. We know this,
but I do believe Burrow. He's not gonna be able
to keep.

Speaker 5 (25:41):
Up with Burrow. Colin, the news just broke.

Speaker 8 (25:43):
Micka Fitzpatrick will not play for the Dolphins this week.
He's injured and the leading tackler on the Dolphins Jordan Brooks,
He's actually the number one tackler in the NFL.

Speaker 5 (25:52):
He's TBD.

Speaker 8 (25:53):
He's misspractice all week. He's out there today. If they're down,
their two best defenders, Burrow and Chase are gonna catch
in the warm weather. Remember you don't show well last week.
If you're Burrow, you bounce back strong. I would not
be surprised if Cincinnati hung a forty burger on Miami
short week.

Speaker 5 (26:11):
Give me the Bengals.

Speaker 1 (26:12):
Here tomorrow's headlines today. I know where you're leaning here,
Chiefs at the lowly Tennessee Titans.

Speaker 5 (26:19):
Oh, I thought you're gonna say that Titans hosting the
lowly Chiefs. But that's a little harsh. I don't want
your guy Nick to feel too bad. The headline for
Chiefs at Titans will be we are never ever ever.

Speaker 8 (26:34):
Gonna play together. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelsey has done.
They're never gonna play together again. Kelsey, we know is
gonna be bouncing to be a celebrity and a podcast
after the season. Colin is a little bit sad. Gardner,
Minshew getting to start. Mahomes obviously just had surgery this week.

Speaker 5 (26:50):
But I gotta ask you, the Chiefs often stunk with Mahomes.
What are they gonna do with Gardner Minshew?

Speaker 8 (26:56):
And the Chiefs just announced Colin moments ago that these players.

Speaker 5 (27:01):
Did not practice today.

Speaker 8 (27:02):
Right tackle Juwan Taylor swing tackled Jalen Moore, Rashi Rice
Can cussed Taekwon Thornton, Can cussed two other defenders and oh,
by the way, a third in Trent McDuffie. They could
be down six starters against the Titans. This line was
four and a half, three and a half.

Speaker 5 (27:19):
It's a three.

Speaker 8 (27:20):
I mean, Tennessee on the money line is going to
be live and here's a fun number. I know the
Titans stink during the mix for the number one pick, Colin,
we just heard from the former Washington coach talking about
how you end the season. Did you know in the
last six games the Titans are for to one and
one against the spread, and that's facing five playoff teams,
so they're trying hard.

Speaker 5 (27:39):
Still.

Speaker 8 (27:39):
I just wonder what the mindset is from the Chiefs. Hey,
we're in the AFC Championship every year. Now we gotta
play the Titans meaning nothing. Listen, if you're into olt lines,
Tennessee by double digits, is that in play here?

Speaker 5 (27:52):
I don't know. I mean this literally could be one
of the bigger surprises of the season. But I like
Tennessee to win out right.

Speaker 1 (27:58):
Tomorrow's headlines today, I like the Lions here. It was
the last blazing five pick. I did not pick.

Speaker 3 (28:06):
What say you?

Speaker 8 (28:07):
Yeah, well, we went with a six pack this week
because I'm not kind.

Speaker 5 (28:10):
Of feeling myself. You know, it's it's December. Getting excited.
Here we go.

Speaker 8 (28:14):
The headline four Steelers at the Lions will be he
who smelt it, dealt it. Lions turned steel curtain into tinfoil.

Speaker 5 (28:24):
I like Detroit here laying a touchdown. Colin Again, it
is a short week for Pittsburgh.

Speaker 8 (28:29):
You've got an old quarterback going into a job to
face Aiden Hutchison.

Speaker 5 (28:33):
Okay, we know that the Steelers offensive lines been mediocre.

Speaker 8 (28:36):
Aiden Hutchison is an animal coming off the edge, and
I do wonder that Detroit offense, Colin. We saw them
light the rams up last week twenty four points in
the first half. What are they going to do to
a Steelers defense? By the way, herbig trending toward not playing.
TJ Watt not gonna play.

Speaker 5 (28:52):
I don't see how the Lions can't pick their number
here in one of the highest totals on the board.
Give me the Lions.

Speaker 1 (28:56):
Here Finally tomorrow headlines today, I think the Patriots win
close against the Ravens. Ravens passing game and passing defense
are broke.

Speaker 5 (29:08):
What do you make of it?

Speaker 8 (29:09):
You know, I kind of I saw your pick here.
I was like, let me just crowbar in another one.
I'm feeling myself.

Speaker 5 (29:14):
The headline for Ravens Patriots will be Ravens Glare Lamar
bombs in air, pat Stars get spangled.

Speaker 8 (29:23):
Colin, I'm worried about your Patriots. Okay, that's second half
against Buffalo. How can you not ignore that they could
not stop Josh Allen a running quarterback Josh Allen eleven
carries last week. Enter Lamar Jackson, who has not run
well this season. No, but this sets up for a spot. Lamar,
hey carry us the way Josh did. You're a two

(29:44):
time MVP. And oh, by the way, the Patriots I
looked at their schemes. A lot of too high safety,
a lot of own invites running games Derek Henry and
Lamar Jackson should go for a buck fifty to two
hundred year.

Speaker 5 (29:55):
I'm gonna go with the Ravens.

Speaker 1 (29:56):
Now.

Speaker 8 (29:56):
I'm probably an idiot feeling like, Okay, the raven you know, Colin,
this is still has the nucleus of a good team.
I still believe they get in the playoffs. They're dangerous.
We don't think Pittsburgh is.

Speaker 5 (30:07):
I do. I don't know if you think the Ravens
are dangerous, but I respect them.

Speaker 1 (30:13):
But the Cincinnati game, Cincinnati had no juice, was not
ready to play. I don't make a take a lot
out of it. And also New England won like ten
games in a row. They are really well coached, really
well quarterback. Over the last five games, Lamar is completing
fifty five percent of his throws, Drake may seventy. It
just feels like to me, New England will be able

(30:36):
to play a little keep away, move the chains underneath stuff.
I think it's low scoring. I think it's good. I
just didn't like the number. I thought three was too
many to give a great coaching staff and a productive offense.

Speaker 8 (30:50):
By the way, the dead last in red zone defense, Patriots,
they're giving up touchdowns on seventy five percent of red
zone trips.

Speaker 5 (30:59):
So I know, so this everything lines up for Lamar here.

Speaker 8 (31:02):
And by the way, you got admit you would love
to see Week eighteen forty nine ers were Seahawks for
the number one seed and Steelers Ravens for a playoffs.

Speaker 1 (31:10):
That would be great, That would be great, nice job
college football playoffs. And I think what's interesting is if
Kaylin Debor loses as Alabama's coach, there's a lot of
belief that he will go to Michigan. I think Michigan
Alabama historically is the better job, but I think.

Speaker 5 (31:27):
There's a little bit more.

Speaker 1 (31:31):
Michigan is a blue blood, a northern huge endowment money,
never a shortage, great school, great history. I think the
Big Ten's got more money right now than the SEC
does with its top schools. I would take the Michigan
job in Michigan's athletic departments had some real missteps. So
I think Ohio State wins the Natty. I think Julian

(31:53):
sand will handle it. I don't think George is as
good as previous years. A lot of those wins, and
I think I think Oregon Texas Tech in the semifinals
is fascinating.

Speaker 5 (32:07):
Hey, let me let me ask you on to Bor.

Speaker 8 (32:09):
Do you think he's taking that job like soon or
would he wait for the ad to get booted because
there's been so many scandals, apparently the hockey team out
of scandal. We know, the basketball stuff with Juwan Howard,
like the whole athletic department has had a lot of issues.
I wonder if Debor says, let me just wait for
you guys to find your ad, then I'll come on board.

Speaker 2 (32:28):
Yeah.

Speaker 1 (32:28):
I mean, I you gave me those that quarterback for
Michigan and those receivers, and I'm an offensive coach. I'd
want to get my hands on that. And and by
the way, Sharon Moore and Harbaugh, he's got some players
still in that program. They recruited at a very high level.

(32:49):
And so I mean, listen to Big ten. You gotta pay.
You gotta face Oregon now, in USC now in Washington,
now it's in Indiana's a power. So both jobs, yeah,
brutal schedules. I I think if I was Kalin de Born,
my history was Northern schools, I would probably take the
Michigan job. That's that's probably what I would do. So

(33:14):
I can't wait have a great weekend.
