Speaker 1 (00:01):
This episode of What Driving the Grid is presented to
you by boost Mobile and welcome in. This is episode
four hundred of What's Right with Nick Grid. So Glad
demands back from paternity leave. When I saw us counting down,
I was kind of doing the math in my head
about when I thought you'd be back and whether or
not you'd be here for episode four hundred. Luckily you
(00:23):
are great to have you back. This is your first
in person gambling show since pre paternity leave. The teaser
has been undefeated since baby Mila has been in this world,
which is wonderful. A nice little l added bonus, so
we will get to all of that. Also a reminder
to you guys, please like, rate, subscribe review to the show.
(00:45):
It greatly helps us and all our lines are of
course from our friends at hard Rock Bet. Last week,
I'll be honest, I'm fine with it. We went two
two and one last week, and the reason I'm fine
with it was the wins were decisive and well we'll
(01:06):
explain it to you. So for the year, we are
one game over five hundred. That's a winning record, but
not a profitable record. Because we're honorable gamblers, we incorporate
the Veig. So we need to, you know, basically be
at three and two weeks the rest of the way
to get into profitability by the end of the season.
(01:27):
That's certainly doable. We lost Kansas City minus three against Dallas.
It was also personally, emotionally and financially devastating. Chicago plus
seven at Philly. We told you we thought the Bears
could win outright. We told you we thought the Eagles
offense did not deserve to be a touchdown favored against
any competent team. We were right. We had Tampa minus
(01:50):
three and a half at home against Arizona. That's a push,
so be it. We had Cleveland plus six against the Niners.
Two things on that game. One one of the downsides
to doing these on a Thursday is snow was in
the forecast on Thursday for that Sunday. By the time
(02:11):
game rolls around, snow's not there anymore. So I wanted
a weather game when I'm getting the points. The other
part of it is this, Kevin Stefanski. It's a ten
eight game. The Niners have done nothing offensively. What are
you doing going for fourth downs in your own territory.
That's what blew the game open. I don't feel badly
(02:32):
about that pick. And when we demand's eight Seattle minus
ten and a half against Max Brosmer, I said, it's
one of those things that if you were here when
I said it, you would have done the little like
close your eyes whence thing like oh that was mean,
because I said, I think they can cover as long
as they the ten and a half, as long as
they get to eleven.
Speaker 2 (02:53):
I was correct.
Speaker 1 (02:55):
They now they ended up getting to like twenty six.
But I did not think Minneso was gonna be able
to score a point with Max Brosmer against that Seattle defense.
That was correct. So two two and one last week,
the biggest weekend of games all year. Six Massive Games
one happens tonight. But you guys are hearing this on Friday,
(03:17):
So last night we don't know what happened in Cowboys Lions.
That won't impact our picks for this week, So before

(05:11):
not playing this weekend. Let's get to the games we
are not playing this weekend.
Speaker 2 (05:15):
Demonse, Uh, First, Miami at New York at the Jets.
I'm sorry, Jets are two and a half point dogs.
Speaker 1 (05:23):
I looked long and hard at Miami here, and then
I just asked myself. A Miami team that needed a
two point conversion pick two to beat the Saints by
four and avoid real disaster after giving up then an
(05:44):
onside kick? Do they deserve to be road favorites? Particularly
an inclement weather Tua in the cold. Thinking about that
long enough almost made me say maybe I should take
the Jets. And then I said to myself, maybe a
stay away from that game. So I stayed away.
Speaker 2 (06:02):
Next next Tennessee at Cleveland. Cleveland's four point favorites.
Speaker 1 (06:08):
This is another one where I looked at it long
and hard, and I said, real, hold on, real quick
snap test. How many touchdown passes do you think cam
Ward has this year? He started all year six seven? Okay, yeah, yeah,
not good. I mean great guess by you. And I
(06:30):
asked myself, cam Ward against that Cleveland defense, Miles Garrett, I,
you know, might get the sack record in this game,
needs three and a half sacks, Like that's totally on
the board. And I like the Cleveland defense, and I
like the Cleveland running game. And then I had a
(06:50):
quick moment of sobriety when I'm like, wait a minute,
I'm gonna lay more than a field goal with Shador
Sanders and the Cleveland Browns. No, I'm not. But I'm
also not betting the Titans if I'm not getting at
least fourteen and this will only before So for those reasons,
(07:11):
I'm staying away. I think you like Cleveland in this spot,
am I correctly?
Speaker 2 (07:15):
Yeah? I mean no, no, no. Think if I had to
use this line, I don't think I would take either
of them either. But if I had to take a side,
it'd definitely be Cleveland or its four.
Speaker 1 (07:25):
Yes, we're on the same page, but we're staying away.
Speaker 2 (07:27):
Next next is New Orleans at Tampa Bay. Tampa Bay's
eight and a half point favorites.
Speaker 1 (07:33):
Just a little too big of a line. New Orleans
pass defense has been sneaky good and the Bucks still
some little banged up. This is a, you know, a
great example of Bucks just have to win, they don't
have to win by margin. But I also don't want
to invest in Tyler Schuck on the road against a
(07:54):
playoff team, so I'll just stay away from it. Uh mice,
I would go New Orleans. I'm sorry Tampa minus eight
and a half, but I'll stay away.
Speaker 2 (08:03):
Next next Cincinnati at Buffalo. Buffalo's five and a half
point favorites.
Speaker 1 (08:10):
Weird one.
Speaker 2 (08:12):
I could go either way. Anything can happen in.
Speaker 1 (08:14):
That game, correct, which is why we're staying away. I
think since he could win out right, I think Buffalo
could remind everyone since He's defense really stinks and Josh
Allen has one of those games where the get up
crew is erecting statues on his behalf like I and
so I'll I'm just gonna stay away and watch it.
(08:36):
It's good for the Chiefs. If the Bengals win again,
it probably won't matter because the Bills have a playoff
spot all but locked up. It would take a real
Bills collapse. But it's you know, it is good for
the Chiefs if the Bengals win, and they can win,
but I don't believe the Bengals have full on turned
(08:57):
around their defense. And if you've got these are the
two worst run defenses in football, or two of the
three worst. The difference is though Buffalo has an elite
running game, Cincinnati does not. Buffalo's pass defense is actually
pretty good. I would lean Buffalo, but I'll stay away.
Speaker 2 (09:19):
Next next, we've got Denver at the Raiders. Raiders seven
and a half point dogs.
Speaker 1 (09:27):
Denver plays nothing but close games, but the Raiders offensive
line is so awful that you feel like that Denver
defense is just gonna eat them alive. But we've seen
these teams play. I think it ended up being ten
to seven. When they played earlier this year. I think
(09:48):
that was a Thursday night game. It was they beat
them ten to seven on a Thursday night, So I
kind of want to grab the points, but I also
feel like the Raiders aren't gonna be able to move
the ball at all, so I'll just stay away from it. Next.
Speaker 2 (10:02):
Yeah, you know the Rams are the Cardinals. Cardinals eight
point dogs.
Speaker 1 (10:11):
Lean Rams feel like they have poured on potential because
they want to get you know, Drake May's off Stafford
out of rough week. May was excellent standalone game gets
Stafford back atop the MVP pyramids, so to speak. But
eight points in a divisional road game is too much.
Will stay away.
Speaker 2 (10:30):
Next Chicago at Green Bay Green Bay six and a
half point Dogs or six and a half point favorite.
Speaker 1 (10:35):
Sorry, I think the right side of this game is Chicago.
I think that's the smart side, but I just can't.
Green Bay, coming off its best performance of the year,
Chicago also coming off its best performance of the year,
(10:58):
feels like potential more likely for a letdown spot for Chicago.
I at seven and a half, I would bet the
Bears at six and a half, I'm just gonna stay away.
I think Green Bay wins by right around a touchdown.
Speaker 2 (11:12):
Next, uh, Houston Kansas City, Kansas City three and a
half point favorites.
Speaker 1 (11:17):
Yeah, listen, I I gotta see what the status of
the Chiefs offensive line is. But even if Taylor and
Smith are playing, I'm not laying three and a half.
I'm just not like, listen, the aura of invincibility, well, listen.
Speaker 2 (11:36):
The games have to matter.
Speaker 1 (11:38):
The aura of invincibility has been pierced. And I'm not like,
I would love if I'm watching this game, like, God,
dog it. Why didn't I bet the Chiefs. Nothing would
make me happier, but staying away, staying away, staying away.
And I don't know if it's good or bad that
(11:59):
it's the night game. Like it might be good in
that I get to enjoy all day of football leading
up to it. It might be bad that I can't
enjoy all day of football because I'm just thinking about it.
But that's the night game, all right now? Some games.
I really like four of these and I'm I kind
(12:21):
of like the fifth. And reminder, all our lines are
from hard Rock bet First one, demonse.
Speaker 2 (12:28):
First one, you got Jags plus two going up against Indy.
Speaker 1 (12:34):
Al Right, First of all the Jags have owned this
matchup the last decade. There's sixteen three and one against
the spread against the Colts. That is not super important,
but it is noteworthy. I also think right now, in
their current forms, Jacksonville is better than Indy. Trevor's gonna
(12:57):
make some mistakes, but Jacksonville at home, they're healthier, which
they haven't been healthier than most teams all year. Indy's
pass defense was such a problem they traded two first
round picks for Sauce Gardner. Sauces out Daniel Jones has
a hairline fracture in his leg. Indy is very lucky
(13:18):
that they're not already on a four game losing streak.
They needed overtime against the Falcons. That's their only win
in the last four games. And the Jags can put
like a real stranglehold on the division with a win here.
I love the Jags. I think it should be Jacksonville
(13:40):
minus two and a half. It's Jacksonville plus two. I'll
take the Jags plus two.
Speaker 2 (13:45):
Yeah, I was surprised that Indy was favor your two.
We got Pittsburgh plus six at Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (13:53):
It's Pittsburgh getting more than a field goal in a
divisional game.
Speaker 2 (13:58):
Considering what's been going on to Baltimore.
Speaker 1 (14:01):
Auto bet now Mike Tomlin was thirteen two and two
against the spread as an underdog to the Ravens. He
is now thirteen four and two against the spresdent underdog
to the Ravens because he has lost they the last two.
(14:23):
But Lamar, historically last year he got over it a bit,
struggles mightily against Baltimore. Lamar is playing the worst football
of his career. This is a desperation mode game for
both teams, and I'm getting six whole points. It's just that, like,
maybe this is the year all the Tomlin trends into
(14:44):
the above five hundred, all of it, and maybe this
you know, Baltimore just blows him out. But getting six
points against what I think is a in flux Ravens
team is just too much. I'll take Pittsburgh plus six.
This next one de Montsay's my favorite bet of the week.
Speaker 2 (15:03):
Favorite, Oh this one? Okay, Seattle minus seven at Atlanta.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
I still don't think people get how good the Seattle
defense is. And then I will remind you they are
playing Kirk Cousins. Kirk Cousins, who I don't know that
he wants to be out there anymore, man like, I mean,
God bless him. That was maybe too harsh and he
(15:29):
just can't move now. He's played fine his last couple games.
But the Jets defense and the Saints defense is not
the Seahawks defense. And so listen, this is a long
road trip. I understand Seattle going all the way from
the Pacific northwest down to Atlanta. Uh, but I this
(15:57):
is the type of game Am Darnold feels great in
in a dome, big favorite, nobody's watching. He can cook.
The Seattle defense is playing out of its mind. I
think they will be covering by halftime and covering the
entirety of the second half. I'll lay the seven with
(16:19):
Seattle next, h.
Speaker 2 (16:21):
Next you got Washington plus two at Minnesota. So is
Brosmer playing again?
Speaker 1 (16:30):
So it's gonna be JJ McCarthy. I JJ McCarthy's been terrible.
He's been really bad. Sorry for Paul, who does a
great job producing this show. Who's a Vikings fan? The
I don't know. So here's the thing on this one.
(16:54):
As of this recording, and I understand the how many
in a row of the Commander's lost they've lost one, two, three,
They've lost six in a row. As of this recording,
we don't know if Jaden is playing. So here is
why I'm okay doing this. If Jaden gets announced that
(17:19):
he's playing, all of a sudden, Washington will be favored
and we have gotten free points even with Mariota playing.
I think Washington, sorry Paul, has the better quarterback. I
also think Jaden likely is gonna play, so I I
(17:42):
understand that teams coming off a shutout are actually very
live to cover the next week because usually the market,
you know, really penalizes them. But the team that just
got shut out in this game is favored, and I
understand that they're like, Ah, Brasmer is just not an
(18:02):
NFL quarterback. Justin Jefferson doesn't seem happy. JJ McCarthy has
not been good all year. Washington, I think is well
coached and showed real fight against Denver. I'll take Washington
plus two and now the one pick. I feel anxious.
Speaker 2 (18:18):
About Philly minus three at the Chargers.
Speaker 1 (18:25):
Listen. I think this is essentially gonna be a Philly
home game plus travel, like the Chargers will be in
a silent count. I also trust the Philly D line.
I also don't know what Herbert's status is. With that said,
Philly is the least trustworthy offense on any team that's
(18:45):
not awful that I've seen in years, so I don't
love laying points. However, I think the overall roster talent
plus health of the quarterbacks plus quality of D line
versus A line so favors the Eagles. And I'm gonna
be totally honest. There are only four picks I loved,
(19:06):
and I'm rooting so hard for Philly i might as
well make it one of my picks. Two double down
on it. So not great analysis there, I'll be honest,
but that's what I'm rolling with. So my five picks
are in order of confidence. I'm gonna read them to you.
Seattle minus seven at Atlanta Jacksonville it says plus one
(19:28):
and a half, it's actually plus two against Indy, Washington
plus two at Minnesota, Pittsburgh plus six at Baltimore, and
Philly minus three at the Chargers. Those are my five picks.
If we go five and zero, we're profitable for the year.
If we go four and one, we're right at break
(19:51):
even for the year. If we go three and two,
we say above five hundred, but was still not yet
in profitability. Anything else obviously is bad. All right, You
ever notice how everything keeps going up? Rents going up,
streaming services going up. Your favorite burritos Spot wants to
charge you extra for Solza. But with boost Mobile, you
and your phone bill don't have to play the will
(20:12):

Speaker 2 (20:13):

Speaker 1 (20:14):
Why? Because Boost Mobile has an unlimited talk, text, and

in fact, to the same price you'll pay for life.
So switch now for unlimited wireless at a price that
will never go up. Only at boost Mobile. After thirty gigs,
customers may experience lower speeds. Customers will pay twenty five
dollars per month as long as they remain active on
(20:36):
the boost Unlimited plan. All right, Demans, let's go to
your red hot teaser.
Speaker 2 (20:45):
We're back up. Last week, we did a three team
eight point teaser plus one hundred. We tease Dallas up
to plus eleven. They won. We tease Tampa Bay of
plus five, they won, And then we tease Chicago plus
fifteen and they won Tampa.
Speaker 1 (21:00):
Bas I don't know if this makes you feel even better,
but this would have won just as a parlay. Yeah yeah,
I mean I guess Tampa would have pushed, but you
didn't even need those free those extra eight points. All right,
Oh wow, getting ass here?
Speaker 2 (21:20):
So we are this is episode four hundred. So we
thought that it would be nice to do a four
leg teaser, put a little bit extra money in your pocket,
you know, make it a little bit spicier. So this
week we've got a fourteen eight point teaser for plus
one sixty instead of our usual plus hundred. We're gonna
be teasing Jacksonville up to plus ten, teasing Seattle to
basically pick them at plus one, and then Pittsburgh up
(21:43):
to plus fourteen, and then we got Cleveland up to
plus four. I mean I didn't look at your picks
or anything, but like I basically teased all your picks
except for like one, So I mean, I imagine you
gotta love it. Oh, the Cleveland one, the one that
was in your stayaways?
Speaker 1 (22:00):
Can I can I try to convince you?
Speaker 2 (22:03):
No, I I do, I did, I honestly, I was
thinking about Chicago and also Kansas City. No, no, okay,
which what are you talking.
Speaker 1 (22:12):
About Tampa to a pick them? Tampa's minus eight and
a half against New Orleans at home? Can I convince
to replace Cleveland with Tampa just to win?
Speaker 2 (22:31):
Hold on? Do you think the Titans are about to
make some noise and that? No, no, no, we're gonna leave
you like this. I'm gonna leave it really scares you
like that.
Speaker 1 (22:42):
I don't think anything. I just don't want anything to
do with it. And if are the Titan, If the
Titans don't win this game, they're never winning again. I
I don't know. I just I don't. I I don't.
Speaker 2 (22:53):
I if and if Shador loses this game, he'll probably
like he's cooked. No, No, they're.
Speaker 1 (22:59):
Gonna win this game. Okay, all right, I'm giving it
a B minus on your winning streak. I keep giving
them B minuses. I'm giving it a B minus. Jack's
plus ten, Seattle plus one, I love them, Pittsburgh plus fourteen,
love it, Cleveland plus four. I'm terrified of it. That's
a fourteen eight point taser at plus one sixty. All right, touchdown, Genie?
Speaker 2 (23:19):
Uh yeah, so you went last week for Patrick Mahomes
on a rushing touchdown for plus four hundred that did
not cash. And that was the first non injury related touchdown. Genie,
that we had and.
Speaker 1 (23:30):
The staff tried to have me do Kelsey and that
one did cash and I didn't listen to him. I
feel badly about it.
Speaker 2 (23:37):
Hey, they know what's best. What do you do?
Speaker 1 (23:39):
You know?
Speaker 2 (23:40):
Do you have anybody this taking.
Speaker 1 (23:41):
A week off, take a week, a week off, taking
taking a week off from touchdown? Genie? I feel badly
about breaking our streak because I also screwed everyone on
the offer. You can tell everyone what happened, but I yes.
Speaker 2 (23:57):
So the offer last week was Kareem Hunt and rash
Rice to hit their overs, their yardage overs and that cash,
but you didn't like it, and you went with Hunts
under and Rice is over and that did not hit
obviously because the first hit.
Speaker 1 (24:11):
Yeah, so that's a bad job by me. I'm gonna
take it up to the audience with this.
Speaker 2 (24:17):
So this week's oh see yeah sorry.
Speaker 1 (24:20):
This week thanks to our friends at hard Rock Bet,
because this is our four hundredth episode, they have multiple
markets they made for us. One is will any quarterback
this weekend throw for four hundred yards? That's available at
plus four hundred, So you don't need to pick the quarterback,
(24:41):
just any quarterback. Will somebody throw for four hundred yards
and get that at plus four hundred, and then the
one I love a special market against that Beliaguered cults
secondary Trevor to throw for four hundred at sixty to one.
(25:02):
The Prince takes control of the division. Sixty to one.
We've seen him go over three seventy before. I don't
you know, he ask to me the combo of you
expect a high scoring game, a back and forth game,
and you expect a bunch of yards or and a
bad defense involved. I'm doing it, so Trever sixty to
(25:25):
one to throw for four hundred yards. All right, Great
to have you back. De Monse. Thanks to everybody over
the years who've helped with the previous three hundred and
ninety nine episodes. This was episode four hundred. Hopefully we
get four hundred more. Reminder everyone like great subscribe review.
Thank you to Volume, thank you to Blue Duck, thank
you to hard Rock Bet, thank you to Boost, and
thank you to Zen. See you guys on Tuesday.
