(00:23):
You're listening to Fox Sports Radio. It is our two
of The Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike Harmon.
When you switch to Farmers Insurance, you can save a bundle.
All you gotta do is call one eight eight Farmers.
That's one triple eight farmers get a quote today we
are Farmers. Well, the fast lane is over for the Knicks.

(00:49):
Fast lane ended very brief, very quickly. One of those uh,
one of those highway will end in half mile signs
came up and the Knicks get boat raced in the
second half by the Spurs. They were looking to potentially
clinch being above five hundred by the All Star break
for the first time since nineteen seventy, but they lose

(01:10):
to the Spurs tonight one nineteen to ninety three. So
now the eighteen and eighteen Knicks, who have aspired to
and achief mediocrity, are one win over the Pistons away
from being nineteen and eighteen at the break, there we come, buddy,
here we got such a huge deal for the National

(01:31):
Basketball Association. For those people dancing in the streets in
New York, Yes, they're dancing because some restrictions are getting
lifted and and more things opening up. But no, Uh,
celebrating the Knicks and relevancy, that's a big word for
people in this day and age. We all want to
be relevant in our respective jobs. Hell, sometimes you'd like

(01:54):
to be relevant in your own home. Uh So for
the Knicks, seeing as it's a long and arduous journey
since uh well the o J Chase and the NBA
Finals and the finals. Uh, it's been a long time
to where you're actually saying, hey, we could be good
and make some noise, and the East is just screwed

(02:16):
up enough that they could do that. Oh man, I'll
tell you that would be that would be incredible. You
talk about the Knicks with a first round by and hey,
look we have the story we haven't gotten into yet,
which we will that the NBA and many insiders and
executives are thinking and preparing themselves for a star player

(02:37):
who was going to force his way to the Knicks
next season. Right now, that's an incredible, incredible storyline. Kurt
Healan's got it. Pro Basketball Talk uh NBN NBC insider
Brian Winnhorst as well, we're gonna have them. We're gonna
have Kurt Healen on the show next hour. But just
think about that for a second. Alright, the NBA is

(02:58):
ready for for a story where a star is gonna
force his way to the Knicks, not away from the Knicks,
not leaving the Knicks, but to the Knicks. I mean,
this hasn't happened in years, and it goes to show you, right,
the Nets can sign all the superstars they want to write.
They could put their three superstars on the floor, and
right now they are barely staying ahead of the Knicks

(03:19):
in headlines and relevancy in New York and outside of
the market. It is. It's always gonna be in Knicks town,
right The Knicks at five hundred is as big a
story as the Nets doing that obviously throughout the country. Well,
the Nets and their superstars, because superstars in the NBA.
That's who we follow. We follow the k Ds of
the world, the Kyrie Irvings to James Harden's. You know,
but in your in your hometown market, you want to

(03:40):
be able to, hey, we're the number one team Dodgers.
Never want to be number two to the Angels, right,
you can't be that. Never want to say, hey, you
know the White Sox really but they know they don't
want that, all right, they can't. They can't have the
years when that happens. Hell, even when the White Sox
went to the World Series and and dominated the Astros
in two thousand five, it was what's wrong with the comes?
How come they can't do this? Something about the White Sox.

(04:04):
But really, I mean that's when you think about it,
that's a that's a really big deal that you could
have all this great stuff in brook Law. Yeah, but
the Knicks are five harder boy, they're a big story, right,
and you get a superstar next year. I mean, look,
whether it's Janice or Luca don Sich or Spidy Mitchell
or Steph Curry, you know, Lillard Lebron, Devin book while

(04:27):
he's on the Devin Booker. Sure, I mean all you
who who knows who this superstar is that wants to
it's gonna force his way to the Knicks. Look, Brian
Winhorse and Kurt Healin said, we have ideas who they are,
but they they're not saying anything right now. So Kurt
next hour, he doesn't leave the show next hour until
he tells us who it is. He doesn't leave the
show until he tells us. But that's a really big deal, man,

(04:49):
I mean, you're you, You've gone, and you've changed that
narrative in a second, in an absolute second, I really.
I mean look, I mean Janice or Steph or and
I mean look, I'm sure there's eyes I'm missing too.
You know, it could be Nicola yokitch, it could Yeah,
there's all that. I mean, look, it could be anybody,
because the Knicks are just that desirable. I mean, Jordans
always played well in the Garden, sure, like everybody loves

(05:10):
playing in the Garden. They just didn't want to play
for the Knicks in the Garden. They just didn't want that.
So it's like, well, I like playing there, but you
know I don't. I don't want to actually play on
the team. Now it's okay to play on the team.
The fog Cat like playing in the garden. So who
knows who it could be. I mean, listen, we don't
know who it's gonna be. We have no idea. It
could be Jimmy Butler. Well, it could be anybody that

(05:32):
wants three weeks ago it was if they if they
don't get over, then Julius Randall being another uniform you know,
the former and once again Laker I think was the
ashtag that started making the round. Yeah, I mean, listen, listen,
you know, you know, listen, whether it is Rudy Gobert

(05:52):
or not, whether it's Zion Williamson or not. I mean,
it's it's somebody that's look that, that's who the Knicks
are gonna get, forcing their way via trade. Can you
imagine if that's what it was, if it was Zion
who wanted to do it. Can you imagine you, Hey,
let's just throw out people and be really irresponsible. These
are the players we heard who could be forcing their
way to the Knicks next year. I just started ripping

(06:13):
off stars and say, oh, I can't believe that could
be one of these guys. But can I can I
throw this out to you? Go ahead, buddy, um, if
it is Zion You want to buy some Zion rookie cards?
You know all, dude, I was thinking about you today.
I almost called I almost facetimed you. Have I ever
facetimed you before? I don't think No. I almost FaceTime

(06:35):
to you because today we were going to lunch, right,
Pam and I and Zoe and we were going to, uh,
we're getting We're getting bagels for lunch. And we parked
and it's in this big like mini mall area, and
we parked the car and we get out and we
were walking across the sidewalk and there are all these
baseball cards that are just spread out on the sidewalk
like somebody had like open like two packs of baseball

(06:58):
cards and for some reason just dropped and ran away.
There's all the like from a display and from there
you could be right, but I mean, if someone's chased them,
you'd think they would have picked up the cards. So
I'm going, boy, look at all these guys. There was
a Michael CONFORDO. There there was this and I was
almost gonna FaceTime you would go, dude, should I pick
these up? And you know, I'm thinking COVID And who
knows why they're here, and do I have to wash

(07:19):
the cards and wash my hands. I'm like, nah, I'm
not gonna do it. So we go into eat and
I come out ten minutes later and two women are
are are are are throwing them in their backpacks and
regularly go look at this one, Look at this one.
I said, I actually go buy him, and I go, hey, hey,
Michael Confordo one's where some money? Huh you mean, while
you know, Michael Conforto cards not worth anything, but hey,
the Conflorida one was where's some money? So okay, we

(07:40):
Conforto card. I almost called you to say, hey, should
I pick these up or not? You know, I don't know,
and I probably would have if it wasn't for COVID,
but be with COVID, I think, you know, I don't know,
and then who knows it was something from a you know?
And who knews if it was something from a card
store like you said that you know and the owner
was chasing down these kids come back here with that.

(08:01):
I need that they do. Thank you. Right now, there's
a lot of investors in the Fernando Tatis junior market.
Uh No. The big thing right now is anything at
retail at a Target of Walmart or anywhere else. You've
got lines of grown men looking to just find the
distributor and clear him out. So they split it evenly,

(08:24):
send them on their way, and then they sell it
on re resale like you're not finding cards just in
the wild generally, And if you do, you've kind of
won the lottery. A very nice that all right, So
I would have I thought about you today, But I
appreciate that body the COMFORTO really wouldn't have moved the
needle for me. I appreciate. I mean, I found this
cool old Sam Vincent card that has uh, Michael Jordan

(08:46):
in the number twelve uniform. That's cool. Wow, that's gonna
be worth some money. That's yeah, normally a nickel. But
then you say, hey, wait, it's Jordan's in the number
twelve jersey. But Siri about the Knicks. We'll get to
the labers in a second. But the thing was serious. No,
the thing is, this is not just a Knicks conversation,

(09:08):
but this is about how important it is to change
the culture and what you can do once you do that,
and it's it's it seems like a very difficult thing
to do because the Knicks couldn't change the culture for years,
but they finally figured out the right combination. Leon Rose
running things, James Dolan not making headlines at all. Tom
Thibodeaux is the right coach, and and it's instantaneous, and

(09:30):
it just happens that fast. When you hire the right people,
you kind of know, and around the league people know
because you could you could sit back and and and
and think, well, if the player gonna want to go
play for this GM or this head coach. You don't
think when players are coming up and their free agents
there are not on the phone with their agents saying, hey,
this is what this head coach is like, this is
what this GM is like, this is who I trust,

(09:51):
this is who I don't trust. And then when you
find out, oh, dude, Tom Thibodeaux, man, he's gonna get
the Knicks playing hard. He's gonna be great for your career.
Look what he's doing for Julie Randall, the guys an
All Star now, and we'll get me to New York.
I mean that's how fast it changes. It changes in
a second. I was gonna avoid doing the New York
manut thing because I wasn't doing my Berman impression, but
anything can change. That shows you how important it is

(10:14):
and how big you can you can flip it like that.
And and then Nicks are the shining example that for
every team that thinks, oh, we're we're mired and mediocrity,
where this for that, Look look at a team like
the Son's right, the Sons are just gonna be a
team that, look, they're gonna waste Devin Booker's career and
who knows. And now suddenly what do they do. They
go get Chris Paul and hey, wait a minute, now
we got a nice big three with Booker and Paul

(10:35):
and eight is pretty good, and Bridges is playing well,
and you know you are are Our bench is okay.
But we're winning a lot of games here, man, we
got the same record as the Lakers. Basically, suddenly the
sun's in one offseason and and you can really point to, hey,
what happened at the end in the bubble. The Sons
won a lot of games. Then Chris Paul jumps in.
That changes the culture and and the Sons are now

(10:57):
a team that, hey, we're ready to compete in the
Western Conference. We are we are that good. Sometimes it's
a coach. Sometimes the GM sometimes the player. But you
look at these teams and then look, the songs are
given the Lakers all they can handle. Right now, they're
up by two less than two minutes before halftime. And
and that's how it is. You know, for all these
teams that are sitting in the bottom of the conference,
whether it's the NBA, NFL, Hey, you know what, all

(11:19):
you need is one big move, one good move, and
you could change exactly how your team goes. I mean,
the Sixers came into this year with basically the same team.
What do they get to get a little bit more
from their bench? And Doc Rivers has come in and
he's been the guy that Hey, it's always great early
on with Doc with a new team, right, that's when
the salad days are. Doc is a players coach. They
love him. Then think the more Doc stays, the worst

(11:41):
things get. But this first year with Philadelphia has been
great so far, and that's been a big culture change
for a team. It was a nice fifty win team
over the course of season. Hey, we're gonna win fifty games,
are gonna be seated fourth and fifth? Maybe we win
the first round, maybe we don't. Now, Hey, the seventies
sixers or a team their favorite to get to the
Eastern Ofference Finals. Now sometimes it changes like that. Well,

(12:03):
and the biggest step is if you've had issues with
your ownership read the Knicks, that they got to get
out of the way. And then he finally seemingly has
gotten out of the way, hired basketball people that are
there to build forward, that aren't looking to the past.
Sorry Phil, uh and carrying whatever. You know, there's gonna

(12:24):
be animosity trying to get things done with with Phil Jackson.
For the number of guys that he vanquished through the years,
they're not gonna help him rebuild in in New York
now as an exact, So that didn't work, and now
you have a new team. You've got a coach that
these guys, at least for the moment it bought into.
I mean what they're gonna look like. Regular season goes

(12:46):
through mid May. That's a long time to play the
kind of minutes and style that Thibodeau wants to do.
But they're in for the moment you have Philadelphia. You
mentioned Doc Rivers honeymoon phase. Guys are in that they're excited.
You know, he's had his success shortfalls as well, and
and a lot swirling out of last season. But the

(13:07):
bubble created its own unique circumstances that everybody kind of
had to deal with, and well, as we saw, the
Clippers didn't handle very well. But yeah, it takes one
or two moves. But you've got to have a team
that that decides they're gonna adopt the style that the
coach is going to implement. As much as we like

(13:28):
to say, hey, the coach should work with what talent
he has, we know that's not the way it goes.
It makes more sense that way, But nine times out
of ten, it's all right, here's what I want to do,
and you're either in or you're out. Right, they go
full Oceans eleven Danny Ocean slapping that ticket to Vegas
in front of Matt Damon and saying right now, and

(13:48):
that's that's it. And for some of these younger teams
it's easier, right, they're still trying to make their bones.
Guy like Julius Randall, he's he knows all the bad
headlines he got as a young player. When we go
by to the Knicks, he he doesn't want to see
those again, right. He wants to show that he belongs
among the highest paid and high highest complimented players for

(14:09):
your beloved Knicks. Because if you could restore basketball at
the Garden, you're a hero forever. I mean, otherwise you
gotta go back to Willis Reid. I mean, that's what
we're talking about, man. And when Phil Jackson was throwing
bows in the low post. Going back to seventy three,
when the Mets and the Knicks or at the top
of the world in sports, Twitter at out about a

(14:30):
Fresca Mike and swollen dome. But just look at those
teams like the Sixers, the Sons, the Knicks. Bravo to
them for getting it right and changing the culture with
one move. Could be a GM could be a head coach,
could be a player, could be front office. You'd make
the right move and look how fast you can become
big time players. As a business owner, time is your

we have a Major League Baseball story that could be
really embarrassing for a couple of teams. And it's got
to do with just how old a particular superstar and
Major League Baseball really is. That's next, right here, Jason

One Baseball Insider MLB Network insider who is working on
a ten thousand page column on the debut of Marcus
Stroman's new split change. It is John Paul Morossy JP.
What's happening, Buddy Good evening, My friends and I appreciate

(16:43):
that we will not dwell too much on Michigan's lopsided
loss to illinoisa this evening. I think it was a
grand total of two field goals made between Dickinson and Wagner.
So hard for the Mazing Blue to win under those circumstances. Yeah,
but is still gonna be a one scene in the tournament.
You're still there's three great teams in college basketball, and

(17:04):
you're one of them. I'm confident. I think this is
the most excited that I have been about present and
future of Michigan basketball, probably since the Fat five. I mean,
I realized that there have been two championship game appearances
in the interim. But this team is incredible and and

(17:25):
the talent that is coming John Howard, he has got
to be the coach of the year, right, the Naseman
coach of the year without question. Sure, listen, you're a
basketball school. Now you are completely basketball school. I mean,
I would say basketball and baseball. They made it to
the College World Series. This is there any other sport

(17:46):
to discuss? Is there any other sport talking about? I
don't think so, although Allen Bowman. Allen Bowman had a
pretty good career there in Lubbock, so maybe he is
the answer after all these years of quarterback for Jim Harbaugh.
All Right, well, let's get into something that's a little
bit harder to break down than the disappointment of the
Michigan football program, and that is the age of Albert

(18:10):
pool Holes. Now he has listed as forty one years old,
but earlier today, David Samson, who was former Marlin's president
for fifteen years, UH said on the Dad Lebotard Show
that no one in baseball believes Albert Pools was the
age he says he was. When he was going to
sign his big contract with the Angels, Samson said, we
didn't care. We knew the last couple of years we're
gonna stink, but we wanted Albert. It didn't work out

(18:32):
for us, so Pools has listed to forty one. He says,
everybody believes he's older. Well, what do you hear about
pool Holes JP? Well, to me, I have no reason
to disbelieve what Albert has said about about his birthday.
And one of the big reasons is that there was
the time earlier on really was after nine eleven where

(18:54):
where basically everybody had to double check and validate what
their what their age was, and so there was a
time in baseball again it was basically the off season
after after two thousand one, where when players are coming
back into the country who may have been born elsewhere,
there was a double checking and a verifying of birth dates.

(19:15):
And obviously Albert by then was already in the MLB
system and it never came up that there was anything
different than what he had presented. So to me, I
I realized that this has been a topic in the
past where it's been speculated about, and again it was
brought up via these comments from a former executive in

(19:35):
an interview. But to me, I've I've always said that
Albert should be taken at his word. Now has he
has he gotten Has he gotten less healthy and less
explosive as he has gotten older? Yes, but that is
true of every player effectively. So I don't think that
at this juncture it's fair, uh to speculate about it.

(19:58):
I think that the reality is he he's nearing the
end of his career one way or the other. And
I think that overall, you have to look at what
he's been able to do. More than six d sixty
home runs, more than three thousand hits. He's the first
ballot Hall of Famer, and I think overall that the
focus belongs there as opposed to what the speculation was

(20:20):
like about his age after the two thousand and eleven season,
which is at this point in time now fully a
decade ago. Yeah, this has gotta be one of those
things that a lot of handwringing in the offices, right
because this comes up now and again we we hear prospects,
and now you've got a guy towards his end. I
don't know what the point is now. He's ageless, is

(20:41):
what you'd say. But for for Major League Baseball, the
League office, how much you know, do they dedicate to
investigating this versus working on pace of play. I don't
think that this is something that they're really gonna worry
about it all right now, Like at this point from
the standpoint of the league office, it was a uh
deer point. They have a lot of other issues in

(21:03):
front of them, whether it's just making sure that everybody
is as healthy as they can be this year, pace
of play as you mentioned as another one. But hey,
as I as we heard in the update, there is
the ability to mutually shorten games during spring training. Maybe
we'll see some aspects of this carry over into the
regular season. I say this in jest, but the reality

(21:24):
is there's been a lot of conversation about ways to
make the game more user friendly. If you will, for
the for the modern fan, and and if it's the
shorter game that will draw in more people, uh, then
I think the Baseball has has its very strong duty
to examine that possibility. JP. Let me for Baseball is

(21:45):
never gonna go for that. And here's the reason. Because
if you allow teams to shorten games to six or
seven inings in the regular season, the Mets would win
like a hundred and forty games. It's they win, They'd
win like a hundred and forty and it would be
we can't even compete. Yeah. So here's here's the interesting thing.
And Mike is obviously there for you, Jason, to help

(22:05):
you through this. But usually we are on like day
five of the season before the Mets bullpen becomes your
foremost concerned. We are still at this point in time
like minus This is like day minus twenty nine of
actual regular season games, and you're you're already I mean,
did you see something already in Port St. Lucy that

(22:27):
has concerned you? Please, Jason, share with us your thoughts. Well, no,
just I know what happens to the Mets bullpen when
they actually get in games that count. And so I
know if you can limit the innings, the Mets bullpen
will pitch, we'll win more games. Are you kidding? Yeah?
It is. The rotation is good. The rotation should be good.
And and you know this is not this is not

(22:48):
necessarily the bullpen of juris familiar from the two thousand
and fifteen World Series. That was a long time ago, Jason,
that was a long time ago. Yeah, j What what
he's really doing is he's trying to extend the goodwill
that the Nicks are getting and he's just trying to
push it over into the Mets pile. But they do
have an area of concern as they're part of the
the largesse of this Mickey Calloway mess that is now

(23:12):
engulfing multiple teams. Uh, here is one for the League
office and really for the culture of baseball that becomes
a problematic surge, uh in terms of attention and when
we're supposed to be hope, spring eternal about our respective teams. Well,
you're you're right that it's that it's obviously a matter

(23:33):
for the league to investigate it, and they are. And
I think that this to me where it's going to
be up to the league obviously each individual team to
make a decision here as to what as to what
the best way forward is once all the facts are
out there, once it is clear who knew what when
I I am of the mind that that let's get

(23:56):
all the facts out there, or at least let them
be known to the Missioner's office before they can adjudicate
whatever discipline needs to follow. But I think that this
needs to be a call to action of of really
examining how deep of a problem this is. Again with

(24:17):
some very severe and significant allegations of of conduct by
Mickey Callaway, and this has to be discussed in in
every camp this spring. I do know that I saw
the UH the MLB Media Guide for Spring Training, and
it is now taking up I think five or six

(24:38):
of the first seven pages of the entire manual Anti
Discrimination Policies and Expected Codes of Conduct. And that's what
it should be right now. We we should be having
these conversations. And I applaud Gioli and Katie Strang for
the work they're doing because they're they're getting a lot
of information out there for us to think about it.

(25:00):
And I think as a society, as a sport, as
a sports world, as citizens, the goal of reporting like
this is to make us all think and understand just
how deep this goes. And to me, I think obviously
there has to be the process that goes through with
MLB and and any discipline or potential losses of jobs

(25:22):
that come as a result of it. But I think
the second half of that conversation has to be, Okay,
what now, how do we change? How do we make
things better? And I think that's on everybody who's involved
in the sport to make sure that we are being
as thoughtful as we can be, and I'm optimistic that
with men and women of the right uh, I think
the right compassion, the right thoughtfulness on this. But I

(25:43):
think better days will hopefully be ahead. But I think
for the time being, it's important that all the facts
are known to those doing the investigation. And obviously MLB
has a lot of work ahead of the Commissioner's office
to get to the best ascertaining of what what the
truth was in all this. Alright, lastly, JPM, I want
I want to tell you something. I want you to
understand that I'm coming from this with believing this. I would,

(26:07):
at worst, I think, be the twelve best GM in
Major League Baseball. This is why, at worst I'd be
the twelfth worst GM in Major League Baseball because I
know this because eleven teams sent people to go see
Joannas Sespenous workout today thinking he can still play. So
at worst I'm better than those eleven guys. I mean, well, yeah,

(26:31):
I would say this, Um that really in many ways
he has not been the same player since we would
say what twenty sixteen? Maybe, um, it's it is difficult
for me to imagine just the reality of how little
he has played, um the misadventures off the field, I

(26:55):
would be rather surprised. He has played in all of
YEAH teams since and even since he has played in
forty six games, so that means he is so in
the last three years he has played forty six games.
He has not distinguished himself, particularly with his play during

(27:17):
those forty six games. That my scouting report there is
that he doesn't have a whole lot left. But then again,
this is is baseball, and I have been surprised. Before you
can fall on Twitter at John MORROSSI who doesn't want
to give me a GM job? That's okay, listen, more
than happy. Somebody emailed me this morning about wanting internships

(27:42):
in sports, and I'm always happy to help job seekers.
And so if you want the internship for the big job, jays,
let me know. Send me your resume and I'll I'll
send along to all my colleagues in the business. All right,
all right? Is it? Is it a paid internship? Because
I mean that was a thing. No, no, no, take
it easy, buddy. I appreciated chat with you about that later,

(28:07):
j JP. Awesome stuff from John Paul ROSSI look, really,
I'd only be the twelfth worst GM. I've watched joeyn
Ne Sespenis just play until he got paid, And as
soon as he got paid, he quit. He stopped trying,
he stopped, he stopped being the player he was. In
twenty fifteen, he got hurt, sat out of season, got

(28:27):
hurt on his ranch, sat out some more, didn't tell
the Mets he was really really hurt, until he decided
he didn't want to play anymore. He came back and
in a home run after being out with leg injuries,
then said, oh, I can't play anymore. I got to
have surgery on both my heels. I'm gonna be out
the rest of the season. Then oh, I stepped in
a hole in my ranch. I can't play anymore. And
then he comes back finally and after a week says,
I'm opting out because I may not be the everyday

(28:49):
d h. He's done. I watched him quit on the
Mets as soon as he got paid. And now, remember
I told you that was gonna happen. Of course I
knew it was. I told no, no, But I told
you so, Gwen. He was in Oakland and in Boston
and all these places. He's putting up huge numbers and
and they couldn't get rid of him fast enough. There's
like there's more here. I mean, look, we we we

(29:10):
wouldn't have gotten the World Series without him. We wouldn't
have We wouldn't have we wouldn't have gotten to the
playoffs the next year without him. He was incredible, But
I knew as soon as we paid him, he was
just gonna say, yeah, that's it, I'm done. So really,
you think he's gonna no one's gonna pay him. No
one's gonna pay him, and you can't Why would eleven
teams go to uanna assess? But this is work? I
would say, you know what, that would be the the

(29:31):
best five hundred dot Well, probably you probably have to
go spend the night before, so it's a hotel for
a couple hundred bucks, it's a plane. That would be
like the easiest eight hundred dollars I would ever save
my team going, you know what, let's have a pizza
party because I'm not sending out to go see un assess.
But it's workout because I know the guy can't play anymore,
because I watched him quit for the last four years

(29:52):
when he was getting paid twenty five million dollars a year.
That's the biggest eight hundred dollars I'd ever save. And
I go, I would put that in my category, but
a big check mark in got it? I am good,
nicely done. If you can only add extra zeros to that,
you'd really be an asset to a major league team.
Does any hundred bucks that ain't moving, that ain't moving
the needle, that ain't saving your job, and then ain't

(30:14):
keeping the lights on. But I just saved eight hundred
dollars by making a decision in fifteen seconds. So let's
say I do that. Let's say I make eight hundred
dollar decisions every fifteen seconds. Then I'm saving like an hour,
and then you go put that over twenty four hours.
I'm up over saving the team fifty dollars a day. Man,
that's then then that adds up fifty thou dollars a day. Oh,

(30:37):
you kid, had me the greatest GM in the world,
you would you would be u adding value if you
could do that every day for three days. No, because
you know that's me. Never stopped, never stopping. That's what
I do. Never stopped. You put that on signs all
around in the stadium. Never never stop, never stopped that's

(30:59):
right Twitter at ou about a fresca Mike at Swollen Dome.
The Phoenix Suns marquee game of the night in the
NBA lead the Lakers by seven early in the third quarters,
still eight and a half minutes left to go in
this one, of course, the Lakers playing without Anthony Davis.
But coming up next. If you felt you didn't have
enough stories why Tom Brady has seven Super Bowl rings

(31:21):
and everybody else struggles, we have one from today that's
gonna be another example of this is why the guy
wins way more than everybody else does. That's straight ahead
right here. Fox. Be sure to catch live editions of

my Bill asked friend Mike Harmon live from the Farmer's

(32:03):
Insurance a studio Studios called one Triple eight Farmers Switch,
you could save a bundle on your auto insurance. Well,
we talk a lot about there's a reason why Tom
Brady has seven Super Bowl rings and everybody else is
fighting to get one. If you get to your a legend,
Brady's got seven. Tom Brady's never It's not just about talent.

(32:24):
It's about the mentality that he has and how hard
he works. And this is why he's playing when he's
forty three years old. Is gonna play past forty five? Uh? Today?
This story breaks from the Tampa Bay Times and it's
from quarterbacks coach Clyde Christensen who said the morning after
the Super Bowl, so before they had the big parade
and Tom Brady was throwing the Lombardi trophill over the place.

(32:45):
The morning after the Super Bowl, just hours after they
left the post game party to celebrate the win, Brady
called Christensen and said, Hey, I didn't see you after
the game. I want to say thanks, what a great journey.
How much I appreciate everything you did. Then next thing
he said, according to Christensen, was I was thinking how
much better we can be next year. I think we're

(33:05):
gonna be a better team. And he went into how
the team can improve and how much the Bucks have
room for improvement next season. This guy just won the
Super Bowl and the next morning he's already thinking, all right,
how do we get better for next year? You know,
Brady is like and this is why he wins seven
and other people don't. You know, having the plays was

(33:26):
great in New England too, but hey, hey, he's why.
This is why he he has seven. He has the
mentality of a of the of the best college football coaches, right,
the ones like Nick Saban who make it a you
know in Pete Carroll when he was at USC, all
the big legendary coaches Urban Meyer, who all do the
same thing. And and what Brady did was the equivalent of, Hey,

(33:48):
when you just win the national championship, you celebrate, you
do an interview on the field, and then what all
the coaches do. They go into the they go into
a room and they make recruiting calls. Hey, this is Nick, even, coach,
you just won the national title. Yeah, I wanted to
let you know it could be a part of this
next year. We're excited to defend it. And hey, we're
excited about that. Well, never stop, never stopping, right, the

(34:09):
coaches like that that win, never stop. There's never a
moment off for Nick Saban there. This is why he
wins every other year at Alabama because he is constantly coaching.
He's constantly in a bad mood, he is constantly thinking
about how to win, how to make the team better,
how to put the right team together during a pandemic.
And when you see things like that, which is not

(34:29):
unique to Nick Saban, but it's something that Saban has
done over the past few years, and many recruits have said, yeah,
I knew I was going to Alabama when he did that.
This is the mentality of the Brady has. You know, hey,
I we won, and that's great. I spent a few
hours at a party, but now you know what, Hey,
I want to work at this because my craft is
extremely important to me and this is what I'm gonna
leave to this world. And this is I don't want
to cheat myself and cheat my career at all. And

(34:51):
and that's why Brady wins, That's why Nick Saban wins,
because this is the attention to no days off that
they have never that other player is just don't have.
And this is why Brady wins. Well, it's the live
life when you when you can right and enjoy it,
but scheduled, of course, as Tom Brady does. And then
the rest of it is dedicate to your craft for

(35:14):
as long as your body, mind, spirit, whatever lives there. Right,
you'll appreciate this. One animal has the shortest memory. The
defensive watched Ted. I'd watched Ted Lasso. I watched the
whole thing. I couldn't sleep. You watch the whole thing.
I got problems of issues sleeping. So I got through

(35:38):
the whole season. Uh in the night and you're gonna
walk after the show. You're gonna Danny. But but it's
all about we talk about it the memory of a cornerback, right,
you make a mistake, you gotta let it go. In
Tom Brady's world, Yeah, I won fantastic, all right, next, right,

(35:59):
I mean win, lose, draw. Yeah, you're salty about it.
Maybe in the background a minute or it drags a
little bit, but the bottom line is you're working towards
next and if you're at the point where you're still saying, hey,
I've got one, two, three seasons left, whatever it is,
you don't want to waste a minute of it, especially
when you know coming out of this season, and we

(36:21):
said it at the start that you had one or
two years that we're going to be the key, and
I had them winning the super Bowl. So I'll take
the victory lap on it. But you you were saying right,
and it's probably your your best or second best. And
when you look at the second year, if everybody comes back,
and that's the big thing, you gotta get a couple
of these guys do agree, uh to maybe take a

(36:44):
little less money to hang around, but personnel wise and
with a full regular off season as you will now
have in Florida for certain the way things are shaping up,
and you'll probably get a regular run of off season
workouts and pre season in training camp and everything else,
there's no reason they can't be better in a year two.

(37:05):
So yeah, you're you're motivated to keep piling on because
especially when you're looking at everybody wanted to crown Patrick
Mahomes when you just beat him, and and now you
want to make sure you distance and distance it even
further if you get the opportunity. Danny Danny, I also
I also do the Dannie Rojas. Danny like, if I'm

(37:27):
so good, Dannie Rojas, Dannie Rojas. Yeah. We used to
have a thing where we guess who's coming and you
deal Alan Page and that would allow you to hit
your brothers. Oh wow, then you get absolutely torn up.
That's who's coming, Alan Page. I'll look out Twitter and

(37:47):
how about a fresco Mike, It's swollen doll of the
Jason Smith Show with my best friend Mike comment. That's
why Brady wins, that's why other quarterbacks don't. Coming up next, boy,
do we have an NBA story If you're gonna sha
check your head and go, really that happened today? That's next.
