Brady is broadcasting Sunday's game between the Cowboys and the Bears.

Take the over. Next week the Raiders, who Tom Brady
partly owns, play the Bears. And you know, there's been
this made up controversy the last few days, and Brady,
it's a conflict of interest and I's gotta go. And
it's just the most ridiculous, stupid thing that because it's
people in the media and a lot of broadcasters and
writers who just are lazy or have nothing better to say,

or just want to say. Ah, Brady, this is absolutely
gonna be awful. You can't add what a conflict event.
And I maintain, no matter how bad a coach is,
no matter how bad a coach is, he's not walking
into a production meeting that happens before a game and
telling everybody way, do you guys see the crap that
we pull this week? Man? Ha ha. There's a couple

of plays we've been waiting to run. We know we're
gonna get. Well, we get in third and long. Here's
what we're gonna do, right, make sure you got a
camera situated on the defensive coordinator because we're gonna pants
him with what we're gonna run out here. That stuff
just doesn't happen. But that's what people want, want us
to believe happens at Brady to come the information he
gets from broadcasting game. If they were playing a game

that day, I would understand, like, Hey, the coach is
gonna walk in talk about his game plan a little bit,
and you're playing that day. That I get. But this
is where whatever the Bears do Sunday, right where Bears
a Sunday, the Raiders are gonna see. Man, they're gonna
put that stuff out there. The Raiders are gonna see it.
So all of unless maybe the Raiders don't look at
film and they rely on Brady to tell them stuff. Fry, Hey,

we don't do a film here in Vegas. No, No,
I get that. So Tom, you just told us what
you saw like But if that was here was the
same day stuff, or Brady's doing a game where they're
playing the Raiders, Okay, then I can kind of understand.
But this this rest of it, that's no coach is
saying a bunch of knights all completely. We talked about
this the last couple of nights and congratulations with the
people that picked it up today that said, hey, you
know what, I really don't think that's that big a deal.

You're welcome, you can send money to us here at
Fox Sports Radio. But with all of it, the words
souid that everybody's done with this, and the impropriety and
conflict and influence and all that, just say the quiet
part out loud. Just put your name on it. You
don't trust Tom Brady and you think anybody he talks
to is a dope. Because we've been having these meetings

with broadcast crews forever and you can pick your favorite analysts,
pick your favorite play by play guy. He's like, none
of them would have done this at any boy, Dude,
We've got worried about guys getting an extra five hour
bill all over the place, and players and oh the horse,
you're just broadcasters. Tom Brady's the guy that's gonna be

the first one that suddenly he breaks that through that
invisible wall. People who just want to deflate his reputation
at any two. Oh sorry you can't, but look, we've
been doing this long enough. Like the other one I'll
give you. Let's talk about shades of gray, and let's
talk about spygate. The flight gate might be the dumbest

thing in the history of football. And we've had a
lot of dumb controversies across sports, things where people get
selectively outrage Major League Baseball. No, no, no, this has
now risen to the level where it's even work because
I was gonna go waive to all my friends that
covered Major League Baseball and claim they didn't see anything.

(05:45):
For years we were duped in the performance enhancing era.
Lazy broadcasters who want to push this story because they
can't think of something else better to talk about that's
more compelling. Right, Here's Ben Johnson from earlier today addressing, Hey,
you know, way we're not giving away state secrets to
Tom Brady in production meetings.

I've been careful everything I've said since the season started.
I've been in pure coach speak mode.

So for me, it's just business as usual. I'm just fine.
I like Tom and we have a really good relationship.

So yeah, well that was better than anything he's done
coaching wise. I've done great at coach speak. That led laughter.
That was like you know when when when like like
a big comedian like Shane gillis the laughs he gets
when when he's doing a big set on broadcast on HBO. Well,
those are people are afraid of him. Yeah, but I
mean because he can get stern looking and and I
think they're they're fearful that suddenly they're gonna get their

credentials pulled. It almost sounded like that was like fake
laughter that oh yeah, canned. Hey, make it make it
sound like maybe no one's lasting. Landing was saying was
the crowd noise pumped in at Northwestern Life. So it's
okay to hey, if Ben Johnson said something funny, just
put the laugh track in so it makes him sound good.
Maybe make it a little bit of a better environment,

come out like yuck it up right. So for a while,
I'm on Ben Jonson's side. I'm looking the Bears have
been such a big story the first two weeks of
the season and their lack of competitiveness and ridiculously bad
decisions by Johnson and getting pasted by the Lions who
ran up the score on them a at least if
they're losing, they're losing interesting. And I had Ben Johnson's back.
You're telling Ben Johnson, this is a stupid story that

doesn't mean anything. And then He went on to talk
about what's wrong with the Bears, and he kind of
talk about saying the quiet part out loud. This is
Ben Johnson throwing the entire team and himself under the
bus for what really might be an issue with the

Bears in their slow start so far.

I think our practice habits are are yet to reflect

the one that probably has the most say over how
a team practices in getting guys to buy in in
twenty twenty five? It's Ben Johnson. Ben. Here we go.
Ben Johnson's the answer for all of those quess Here's
here's where you're gonna love thee where I'm gonna take this.
Who's their opponent this week? We looked on on the
we We actually had this game later in the schedule petition.

The NFL wanted to play him. Now, so what we'll
move this game up to now so we could get
to two and one. Who's their defensive coordinator over in Dallas? Listen,
we don't Uh, we don't. We don't plan on defense.

I don't know that we have one because it really
it's overrated. Well, have Stephen check because they you paid
Matt Eberflus to come. No, I don't know, I don't.
I don't think we got the guy from the Bears,
that really bad head coach. They couldn't wait to get
out of there. That the smith got go aberflutes that
that's a funny bit he does on the radio, the
Pearl Jam with the Vetter kid McCready on the guitar.

I kind of like that. But oh, that's a guy
we hired. Oh well, we're gonna go out and get
Rex Ryan. Oh boy, good luck with that. All of
it to say, that was the reputation of what you'd
a had for several years under Eberflus, pretty loose fluid practice.
Hey who built this roster? Oh that's the guy that
got the extension. Hi, Ryan, Poles are gonna sit swipe

you while we're here again. And it built a squad
and they built an environment, and again, you're trying to
get rid of a bunch of bad habits and a
bunch of guys that had gotten used to a different style,
and you're still trying to build it in your image
and the way we work in the off season. Anymore
do you get enough practices to really beat the bad

habits of yesteryear, especially when that roster is constructed with
most of those same component parts. No, so he was
calling out all of the veteran players who dogged it
last year under Eberflus and brought some of that and
having bought in fully, which means he's already warning you

that they're gonna be about eight of these guys left
on this roster Gum twenty twenty six, if he has
his choice. I'll tell you, man, here's where I can
be incredibly positive about the Bears. Okay, this is how
much fun they've been so far. The first two weeks,
They've been a stories the first two weeks of the season.
They made two Offensive Player of the weeks. Yeah, yeah, Look,

I want to get a third with Dak Prescott. This
is the Bears. Yes, and and I really I want
to say this the right way. They are such a
beautiful mess.

It is really fantastic that it's such a beautiful mess
that it's not just the team is bad, it's the
team is bad with Flair. And it's not that just
the team is bad with Flair, it's the.

And boy, we make headlines outside of just being bad,
and we do that with Flair Style. This is this
is three big stories with the Bears. First throwing the
smoke bomb and leaving Style. You had the you know,
blowing the lead opening night Monday night game against the

Vikings and the horrible decision to kick off uh and
kick it deep, which was stupid. You had the pacing
at the hands of the Lions last week who ran
up the score on you, and you say I don't care.
I don't care. And now you have this where you're saying, hey, yeah,
we're not practicing up to the championship level, which really,
you are the person that's responsible for it. I get
that every look, every guy is, every player is his

own person, and you, you know you want to weed
those people out. But when you say that so early,
it's you feel like, hey, I am I am just
trying to find a way to stay afloat from week
to week and it's such an absolutely, it is a
beautiful mess.

I'm like, this is it's one of those the bears
or that food that comes out of the oven and
it looks terrible, right, but it tastes so good because
the flavor is great. But presentation, I mean, if you're
on a food cooking show, you're gonna get it. Yeah,
this presentation is not good, right. The colors of the
food are not good off, but it tastes good. And

that's a The Bears are such a beautiful mess it. Man,
They're they're not good and they have so many problems,
but boy, they're so much fun. Like these are fun
problems man, Like I I dig that every week that
every few days the Bears can give us this. I
didn't know that they were calling this is great stuff.
I mean, obviously, look, give me flavor over presentation any

day for the food. I mean, I know you'll you
eat with your eyes first. I don't care. I don't
need it to be pretty. I just want to win, Okay,
whether it's whatever's going down my gullet or whatever I'm
watching on a Sunday afternoon, or the occasional evening game.
That's all I care about. Do I get the W?
And that's where Ben Johnson is right at this point,

he's saying it you're not that you haven't got any w's. No, no, no, no, no, no,
no no. But I'm saying he's drawing a line in
the sand, like because he could just be well, you
know what, we're not there yet, Like no, he's been
going straight to brass tax bold statements and and now
he's got to cash some pretty big checks that you
know that that he's writing here with his mouth and

the expectations that he's tried to put on this squad.
Excuse me, I seed growth, And I'm holding two thoughts,
you know, running in parallel. I think you've got a
flawed roster and a flawed back history as related to polls,
et cetera. But I did see improvement with Caleb Williams
week two. I think there are going to be strides

and it's not built in the day. Again, You're you're
changing entirely the quarterback he is, but you're also trying
to change what has been a disastrously losing culture. What
did they celebrate again with that home game? The other
Bears yeah, you're forty years of wandering in the desert.
Have there been more celebrations? Have there been more Dodger

O Tani Bobblehead Days or eighty five Bears celebration? I
gotta say that that might team that celebrates something more
more frequently. We'll find a way that you got them talking,

mean I really would have said, yeah, a couple of
years ago they were probably there twenty twenty three and
twenty twenty. But going back five years, last time the
Cubs in the playoffs, yeah, I mean, watch a lot
of roster overhaul, these spending changes with the Rickets and
everything that's gone on. A bunch of would be promising
starts and late season failures. That sounds familiar, doesn't it

so because I really thought we were going to get
a different play of the play of the day and
that you were going to get trolled doubly. But yeah,
big run obviously the first half of the season, great
heroics Kyle Tucker and Pete crow Armstrong, two of the
big names we were talking about the first half of
the season. Second half, they've struggled, but you're still looking
at greatness in their rotation leading them to their eighty

eighth win today with that victory over Pittsburgh. Yeah, I
look big celebration right like it's a It's could become
accepted that when teams do things like clinch the playoffs
and and it used to be a very mute at hey,
we're here, you know, we knew we're getting here. Let's
let's take her business. But now it's become acceptable the
last few years. Like yeah, no, I celebrate that thing
like that. You would look at that celebration they just

win the World Series. It's no, it's like a pendant.
Like no, it's like people have been listening to the show.

to the point here, you haven't been there in half
a decade, and you had so many years of futility.

out of it. Uh So, congratulates to the Cubs. I mean,

how do you feel. I mean, it's got to be
okay for you. You've seen the Cubs win going to
the playoffs. I mean being like to broadcast during the
World Series. Hey, come on, I was nice and professional
during I wasn't hateful spiteful.

I don't know. I think I celebrate greatness now wherever
it comes. I think I think you were outwardly right,
just like week one when we were on there with
the Bears and the and the vikings. I would say
being too mad. But what are the three words you
just said to describe you were in hateful, spiteful? And
what were their hateful? Spiteful? And what was the other one? Jaded?
Jab uh, hateful? No, I'd say you're probably low. On

a scale of one to ten, I'd say you're low jaded, No,
you're you're liking a nine and a half. Yeah, but
that's generally my spiteful. Spiteful is kind of a sliding
rule for you were anywhere spiteful. You go from a
six to like a nineteen, Like it's a real sliding
span for your way. Oh no, harmon seems fine. There's
like oh no, no, no, he is complete. Well, I'm
a master of the English language, so I mean I

can hide it with some big five hour words. It's like, wait,

At this point, my dad and she are already counting
days down to lightning hockey, which is pretty cool, I think,
and the stage of things. But you know, my mom

was always a Cup fan growing up in a house
full of white Sox fans, and my dad who just
as long as we weren't fighting and attacking each other,
he didn't care. So for them, yeah, I'm happy to
a point. Now, if they're in a deep playoff run
into the World Series, we'll have another discussion and we'll
have to weather that one day to day. Now, let's

get to something I've talked about for the better part
of the last eighteen months about a very specific thing
for a big superstar player in basement that Wan Soto
can't deliver with runners on base in the ninth inning
and the Mets fall to Owen sixty five when losing
and trailing after eight inn I think he broke Suarez's
ribs the line drive up the middle, and Suarez just
put his body in front of it and made the play. Okay,

that's not what I'm talking I want to tops now
card to his facial expression though, as that ball is
coming back. So what have I been saying for show
Heyotani the last year and a half? Guilty back pitch?
It wow, whoa, whoa that jaded. That's good. That's spite
foot that slid up to nineteen. You hav an eighteen

and a half nineteen. Now uh Otani coming back should close.
That should be what it is. You want to preserve
Otani's arm and have him pitchley. You look, you gave
him all that money for the next few years, and
when you're gonna have to start giving him forty million
dollars a year in a few years ago, you're gonna
want to say, hey, we want everything we can get
back from this. Five innings of no hit ball last night.

He comes out of the game and the bullpen gives
it up right away, right the bullpen, who has been awful.
I believe most home runs in the National League this year,
second most home runs in baseball seventy eight. Now they
are the big X factor of the playoffs. If the Dodgers'
bullpen is this, Dodgers ain't winning the World Series. They're
going to go out in the first round they play.
That's how bad this bullpen has been. So Otani, talking

to the Japanese media, said today, hey, quote, as a player,
if I'm told to go somewhere, I want to be
prepared to do so that's on the mound and perhaps
even in the outfield. Now, know, why would Otani want
to go out and play the outfield, Because if he
plays the outfield, he can come in to pitch in

relief and they don't lose his position on the field.
