(00:52):
So here's where we are right now. The Bills have
the ball facing a first and twenty Von Diggs was
just called for offensive pass interference pushing off Sauce Garden.
The Bills have led a lot of time tick off
the clock here even though they do have it. They
did have a timeout. They got the one again. Zach

(01:13):
Wilson the ball back with time. They got the ball
back with about a buck forty five left to go,
and now there's thirty five seconds left to go. It
is first and twenty for the Bills. They completed a
couple of passes. They are on their side of midfield.
Steffan Diggs caught a pass for about fourteen yards and
then Josh Allen went right back to him for a
completion for about twelve except push off by Digs. You

(01:37):
can see it on the replay. The referees flag flew
right away and this was a penalty that pushed the
Bills back. He has just completed another pass to Stefon Diggs.
The Bills have the ball now, it's gonna be second
down and about six. Stefan Diggs signaling for a first down.
When he's about eight yard short of the first down.
The Bills call their final time out of the game,

(01:58):
so we have time to take our breath here for
a stead second.

Speaker 3 (02:00):
DJ Reid was.

Speaker 1 (02:01):
On Stefan Diggs. Reed was not there. Diggs turns around.
They're moving him around the field so he's not always
matched up against Sauce Gardner. Looks like this is pitch
and catch with him and digs. That's where the football's going.
And right now the Bills are a little bit outside
of field goal range. I would say they're about maybe
ten or twelve yards into a makeable field goal, but

(02:24):
again they use their final timeout twenty nine seconds left
to go. The Jets lead this sixteen thirteen, and of
course they have played the vast majority of this game
without Aaron Rodgers, who left on the fourth play of
the game with what could be a very serious ankle
or achilles injury. We won't know until an MRI tomorrow.

Speaker 4 (02:41):
Yeah, all the Internet doctors have gotten together and they've
thrown everything like it's the Wacki game of operation. A
lot of glowing parts on the body of Aaron Rodgers
right now as to what could be the injury, So
we'll await that in the interim. You've gotten a really
ga effort out of his Jets squad. In his absence,

(03:03):
Zach Wilson's completed two thirds of his pass attempts. You've
seen the run game, myriad options there, Brese Hall, the explosiveness,
Dalvin Cook coming up with some big runs, and you've
seen Michael Carter with a couple of big runs and
a couple of big blocks, right, So you've had a
full team effort. Robert Sala has got to be pleased

(03:23):
with the intestinal fortitude because a lot of times you
have those injuries, the emotion goes right back out of you. No,
they had a lot of fight, and you've seen some
tremendous work here and vexing of this Buffalo offense. Josh
Allen with four turnovers on the night.

Speaker 1 (03:40):
The Bills have the ball the Jets thirty two yard line,
sixteen seconds left. He's been looking for Stefan Diggs exclusively,
except now he throws a deep ball to Gabe Davis. Wow,
that did not make a lot of sense. Third and
ten for the Bill because they're in the edge of field.
Go forty nine yarder is certainly makeable. But you had

(04:01):
enough time there to get the ball middle. If you're
thinking field goal at this point, you enough time you
want to get the ball middle of the field, spike
it and then bring Tyler Bassen for a more makeable
field goal. So now I got to think, now it's
a third and ten where you can't throw the ball
to the middle of the field.

Speaker 3 (04:15):
Well, like the Cassus, there.

Speaker 4 (04:17):
Might have been a little bit of all right, we've
been going underneath with with Digs time and again that
maybe we can catch a one on one situation with Davis. Instead,
he had a Trio us back with him and the
safety flying over the top. But you know, any of
the off season chatter about Digs slash Josh Allen in

(04:37):
their relationship. They showed the shot when they were get
ready to get the ball back, Digs coming over grabbing Allan.
You know, I got you and whatever. And you look
at the number of targets over the course of the night.
We're up into double digits with great success. Nine catches,
ninety two yards and a score. And now you're in
position where I mean, bass has a big leg that
we know obviously you'd like to make it more comfortable

(05:01):
than where you're sitting right now. The ball on the
jets thirty two.

Speaker 3 (05:04):
I mean, it's just you. You've turned it.

Speaker 1 (05:06):
You've turned it to the point where you can't throw
the ball in the middle of the field because you're
not gonna have enough time, right because you only have
ten seconds. You're not You're not throwing this middle of
the field, getting up and spiking it. It's not happening.
So you got to throw it to the side, and
hopefully the Jets defense is guarding it that way, and
you're forcing at least pass to kick to kick something
from fifty yards out of bounds throw by Josh Allen.

(05:29):
The Jets had it defended great. So now you're talking
about a forty nine yard field goal here on fourth down,
miss end the game to open it in the pre game, guys,
sixty yards in pregame, Christy, this is forty nine yards
with a game on the line. It s hands there
during the pregame. It's a little bit different, all left.
Once Aaron Rodgers went, it's.

Speaker 3 (05:47):
A little bit different. It's a little bit different. His
name is Tyler Bass, Smashberger.

Speaker 1 (05:53):
I mean, I mean, I mean, look, maybe he makes it,
but you you really just hurt yourself and made it
much more difficult than it had to be. So forty
nine yard's gonna be actually officially from fifty for Tyler
Bass to tie this game and send it into overtime.
And Bass, my goods, god, he he doinks it off

(06:17):
the left upright in five points from my fantasy's going, baby,
he get those fives up. He doinks it off the
left upright, from fifty. This is Jets football. This is
how it goes for the never in doubt. This is
how it goes for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (06:31):
Has he hammered it? It is high up the upright.

Speaker 1 (06:34):
It hits off the adjust on the inside and hits
the red flag on the top and deflex through. That's
how it works for the Jets. Watching your face during
this Jet because.

Speaker 3 (06:44):
We got that on.

Speaker 2 (06:46):
Video.

Speaker 1 (06:47):
I'm watching the kick going. He's gonna miss it. It's
he pulled it. He pulled it, and it hits the
upright and bounces through. Hits the upright and bounces through.
This is Jets.

Speaker 3 (06:56):
Tyler Bass.

Speaker 1 (06:58):
We're going to overtime most likely. There's a couple of
seconds left on the clock, but it is sixteen sixteen.

Speaker 3 (07:03):
Maybe Aaron Rodgers will come back.

Speaker 1 (07:05):
Going to overtime, you know, it could be going long enough.
But look at Zach Wilson. He's ready for overtime. He's
ready for over.

Speaker 4 (07:10):
He's got his uh William zab could ahead, man Doney,
He's ready to go.

Speaker 3 (07:15):
I mean that is I mean that is I mean
you're I don't know know what to say. You mismanaged.

Speaker 1 (07:20):
That's Jets.

Speaker 3 (07:21):
That's Jets. There's no question they mismanaged that.

Speaker 1 (07:23):
That's Jets football. They deserve to miss for mismanaging that.
But instead, no, no, no, we make it because we're
the Bills and you're the Jets.

Speaker 3 (07:30):
And that's how it goes.

Speaker 4 (07:31):
Now, it's still a fifty yard field Oh that's makeable
in the NFL, Right, that's not I mean it's not
an easy kick. But Bass and so many others hit
fifty yards. Yeah, regular, But that's a lot more difficult
than it needed.

Speaker 1 (07:44):
Sure, you could go middle of the field for another
fifteen yards, get up, spike it, and now it's a
it's a thirty five yard field goal.

Speaker 3 (07:52):
Okay that now you're going over. Now you're going overtime.

Speaker 4 (07:55):
Although I do like the boxing of hey, I'm going
to Davis over the top, because if we drop it
in there, if I can drop this in here, we
score a touchdown and I absolutely get to take out
whatever pulse is remaining.

Speaker 3 (08:07):
Jason, that kick was so difficult and hit the post
and went in. Yeah, yeah, no, yeah, it was thanks.
That's how it goes. That's how it goes. Zach Wilson
kneels on the football.

Speaker 1 (08:17):
The final two seconds will take off the clock, Jets
and the Bills are going to overtime, tied at sixteen.
Of course, the big story four plays in to his
Jets career. Aaron Rodgers is hurt. Is he hurt really badly?
Well depends if you like to look on the internet.

Speaker 3 (08:30):
You think is done. He's never gonna play again.

Speaker 1 (08:33):
He gets hurt and he hurts his ankle on the
fourth play of the game. He is in trouble the
first possession of the game for the Bills. Defensively, they
sent a lot of players at him. He gets hit
on this play. Looks like his ankle gets a little
stuck in the turf and twists. It could be an ankle,
could be an achilles. It's we won't know until tomorrow.

(08:54):
This is something that we know up till now is
that Aaron Rodgers did walk under his own path. Even
though they did bring the cart out for him to
take him off the field and X rays on his anks,
he got out the cart right and X rays on it,
But he got off the cart and he was walking
under his own power. He wasn't helped by anybody. And
more importantly, Rogers, the X rays on his ankle were negative.

(09:15):
So there is That doesn't mean it's not doesn't mean
it's not serious, doesn't mean it's not soft tissue. It
means we won't know until tomorrow, until there's an MRI.
Of course, I'm bracing for the worst because it's the Jets.
This is how it goes. Of course, we have Aaron
Rodgers for four plays. You know what it reminds me of. Honestly,
I told you ninety nine. I remember. I think it
was the opening day for the Jets in twenty eleven,

(09:37):
twenty twelve, maybe might have been twenty twelve, when the
Jets had Chris Jenkins in the middle of their defensive
one one of the best defensive linemen in football, but
his last couple of years of the Jets, it was
he would hurt, get hurt, and end be out for
a long time. And I remember going into this, going
into the opener, I feared who they were playing was
Monday Night Football, might have been, might have been the Ravens,
might have been the Cowboy Ravens are cowboys. And I

(09:59):
said to myse, well, and they're talking a lot about
Chris Jenkins, Chris Jenks about I'm going how long is
Chris Jenkins really gonna play How long is he really
gonna play? And I think it was three plays until
he got hurt. He was done for the season, and
I think that was the end of his career with
the Jets. So it's like, it's like with Aaron Rodgers.
I'm looking at it like, Okay, here's Aaron Rodgers and
now four plays and now who knows when he's gonna play.

Speaker 4 (10:20):
No, but that's the thing, right at this point, any
game he would play for you the rest of the
year has found money. Right, it would be a happy accident,
because I think we all after watching that multiple times,
after seeing all of the people who have worked in
and around NFL teams that comment on this stuff, the
expectation is you're not seeing him again, except with a

(10:41):
headset to take over for Robert sala Man.

Speaker 1 (10:45):
So Josh Allen and the Bills getting the football first
in overtime again sixteen sixteen Jets.

Speaker 3 (10:53):
And the Bills.

Speaker 1 (10:54):
No, Aaron Rodgers. Oh my, I need some kind of
heart medication or something. I don't want to get too excited,
but I mean, I'm all over the place.

Speaker 3 (11:03):
I know.

Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven

Speaker 3 (11:35):
Oh. I need better music than this. I need better
music than this.

Speaker 1 (11:39):
No, stop stop, do not rain on my parade, not now, no, no, no,
give me something good. And if you play tears for Fears,
I'll take your head off and drink blood out of
a boot. No no, no, no, no, no, no no
no no no you can have them. No give me
something gimme, no, no, I really will. I will drink

(12:00):
your blood out of a boot, just like Jack Reacher
out of Aaron Rodgers's boot. Give me something better than that,
Give me something better, give me something better than this.

Speaker 3 (12:11):
Oh, how did they not call that leg whip?

Speaker 1 (12:14):
I'm still calling for the p I on the final
play of their own guys.

Speaker 3 (12:19):
Blank you blank.

Speaker 1 (12:20):
You clutching, rabbing, holding, thank you, hands hold jersey.

Speaker 2 (12:24):
If it was a tear away, he would have had
it in his head.

Speaker 1 (12:27):
Wuyet bike you pleak quiet bike you bike?

Speaker 2 (12:31):
You get that call?

Speaker 1 (12:34):
Oh poor Stefan Diggs, Diggs, buy your breath.

Speaker 3 (12:38):
See you in Buffalo, rig see you in Buffalo. Rigged
was just in the script.

Speaker 1 (12:44):
So after the first possession by the Bills, I had
to go to the bathroom.

Speaker 3 (12:48):
So I went to the bathroom.

Speaker 1 (12:49):
Jet stopped the Bills on third down they were punting.
I walked by all the guys in the edit bay
will back me up on this. They will come in
on the air saying, what do you think I said,
how about a Xavier Gibson punt return for touchdown? Yeah,
but that's how we do. What do you think you
guys gonna do. He's gonna hit a home run? He
never say he's gonna strike down. You got a ball
down and away in the snow. You know the last

(13:11):
time the Jets returned a punt for a touch I
think it was. I think it was Chad Morton was
the last guy to return a punt for the touch
or a touchdown by the Jets dated reference, What is
that five years ago? Yes, Johnny Morton's younger brother. So
I said, how about a Xavier Gibson punt return for
a touchdown? Xavier Gibson one of the stars of Hard Knocks, right,
they documented him making the team, him and him and brownly.

(13:34):
Oh is a great story. Look, Gibson comes in undrafted,
what a great dude?

Speaker 3 (13:37):
Ah comes in?

Speaker 1 (13:38):
I said, how about a Xavier Gibson punt return for
a touchdown? Boy, that'd be something. All the Jets needer
points because they stopped the Bills on the first three
plays of overtime.

Speaker 3 (13:47):
The Bills punted in the middle of the field to
Xavier Gibson. And what happened this? Yes, silence stuff.

Speaker 1 (13:58):
Play it? No, play it? And whatever happened to directional punch?
You better know play it? Play it?

Speaker 3 (14:05):
If you get what are you gonna get? No play it?

Speaker 1 (14:07):
No, no, no, Sometimes you go back to the classic
no no, no, no, you know what.

Speaker 3 (14:18):
Here's the thing, here's the thing, just real quick before.

Speaker 4 (14:22):
Are they too busy jumping up and down and running
back and the hallway like you you might be get
that cut.

Speaker 3 (14:26):
I ran like a lunatic.

Speaker 1 (14:28):
You're out of breath. We gotta get we gotta get
back on a cardio. I'm still out of breath now,
I really am. I was, you know it would hold
off of the David Gibson because I want to explain
something here, because I think we don't have it anyway,
because I think maybe something even greater happened for the
Jets tonight. Zach Wilson is no, no, no, no, no, no,

(14:50):
let's go. He gave everybody hell no, he is victorious.

Speaker 3 (14:55):
Stop yelling, Stop yelling, Stop yelling. I could hear you
through there, closing doors.

Speaker 1 (15:00):
He's a bulletproof and soundproof glass, and you're screaming like
a luna to get in the hall.

Speaker 3 (15:05):
I'm on air trying to excite America. I'm not I'm
not exciting America. I'm not talking about the Jets. What
are you doing? There was the game, that's the game
that was going on.

Speaker 1 (15:15):
Xavier Gibson punt return for a touchdown Jets win nineteen thirteen.
I told the guys in the ed of Bay, how
about Xavier Gibson punt return for a touchdown? He's running
it back and I'm screaming, go go, go go, And
then I did the Joe thizmail, no penalties, don't hold them,

(15:36):
don't hold, no holds, no holding, no holding. Win he scores,
the Jets win, and I'm running around crazy. I'll put
a video up on on on on social media in
a few minutes. And here's what I'm thinking, right, because
here's something of why it's got even bigger. What happened
to help the Jets win the game tonight? Josh Allen,

(15:56):
with the Jets game tied in the final a few minutes,
fumbles a snap, picks it up, tries to run.

Speaker 3 (16:04):
What does he do?

Speaker 1 (16:06):
He runs into his own blocker and he fumbles, and
the Jets recovery kick a field goal, Bills kick a
field little to go to overtime. But still Josh Allen
not quite the butt fumble because he ran into his
own player, but he'd run into the butt of a player.
But you had the Jets butt fumble back in twenty twelve,
and it's been nothing but awfulness from there on. Now,

(16:26):
maybe the curse has been lifted because they actually benefited
from a butt fumble and they went on to win
the game.

Speaker 3 (16:34):
But a curse might be over, and maybe it is.
I think that means to be over.

Speaker 4 (16:39):
For the next two and a half hours here on
Fox Sports Radio, we have to talk about the Bills
and what this means for their franchise. Looking for because
the better story is in the losing knock.

Speaker 3 (16:49):
Or run Darreon Rodgers got hurt. He's Bob might missed
the whole sex. That's already done. We've already talked about it.
That's done, already done. We already talked about that. It's done.

Speaker 1 (16:58):
Now we move forward. It's already What does this mean
for the Bills moving forward? Jets have their quarterback. He's ready,
Zach Saxack. It's the Zack attack. It's Wilson to Wilson,
It's the Wilson brothers. Whatever we're gonna call him.

Speaker 3 (17:13):
I don't know. It's Wilson Phillips. I wasn't gonna go quite.
That's j If you hold on for one more day,
it's Wilson Hill.

Speaker 1 (17:19):
And they were able to hold on and they get
a victory today. So I mean that's fine. Jets are fine.
The Bills the ship is burning better story, no, not
even close.

Speaker 3 (17:32):
Well, mention the Bills for America a much bigger deal.
About the Bills ups western New York and look, I
went to school there. I'm from that upstate central New
York region. I'm trying to.

Speaker 1 (17:41):
Look at from America. Oh really, okay, that's what I'm
doing here. Yeah, people care more about the Bills than
about Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 4 (17:50):
But it's not about Aaron Rodgers anymore. He's hurt, he's done.
It's still it's still about not about him. It's about
what's left in his wake. It's going to be about
and how they battle through with the Bills with to
a tongue of Ila and the Dolphins and Alabama back Jason.

Speaker 3 (18:05):
Jets lose this game with Aaron Rodgers.

Speaker 1 (18:11):
Yeah, okay, now they might have Okay, I don't know now,
I mean it plays differently.

Speaker 3 (18:15):
Yeah, but here's the thing.

Speaker 1 (18:16):
I'm looking at the scoreboard right now, and it's a
final score in the Jets one because.

Speaker 3 (18:19):
They had Zach Wilson. Zack Wilson was brilliant.

Speaker 1 (18:22):
Okay, really really okay, So now you got now you
know what you guys got to stick with that.

Speaker 3 (18:26):
Then if you say Zack Wilson is brilliant, no playing ef.

Speaker 1 (18:31):
You okay, you ran away from him as fast as
you could. Here's a shiny new toy. Zach stinks because
you guys sudden you reach it into the garners. Because
if you guys got it, I can unburn it if
you guys want to find a way, right, didn't You
got to stick with Zach Wilson is great.

Speaker 3 (18:48):
You can't give me he's terrible. Next one, he's terrible.

Speaker 1 (18:50):
No, no, no, no, no, no, he's great.

Speaker 3 (18:53):
Would he throw the moment?

Speaker 4 (18:54):
No, no, I'm living in the moment when he asked
how great Zach Wilson was, When he throws four.

Speaker 1 (18:59):
Picks with the Jets against the the Cowboys. Next week,
you have to say how great he is?

Speaker 3 (19:08):
Great?

Speaker 1 (19:08):
He's great? Super Bowl? Jets lie in Super Bowl? Still there?
Jets lie in Super Bowl? Still there?

Speaker 3 (19:15):
What are the Jets? Seriously? Okay, now you want to
get serious for a second, I'm gonna say you really
went out a left turn into absurd and you want
to get serious for a second. You watch tonight.

Speaker 1 (19:24):
The Bill's a pretty good team, right super Bowl favorite
I talked about maybe their window is closing. I don't
think it's quite as wide open is as people think
it is. It's a Bills aren't just this great team.
Every year they've had chances, they've had different personnel. Josh
Allen from the beginning of last year to now, isn't
the same quarterback. Turns the ball over a lot three
or since the most right, But the last couple of

(19:48):
years has been really rough for him turning the ball over.
He's not been the same quarterback. So I think the
Bill's window is a little bit more shut than people
think it is.

Speaker 3 (19:56):
But it doesn't matter.

Speaker 1 (19:57):
This is still a team that was coming in Super
Bowl hopes, great quarterback, great receiver, ins to Fawn Diggs.
They were going to win this game. What did the
Jets show you that with a quarterback with no reps
for the last few weeks can come in and the
Jets can play a game of great defense, terrific running
backs with Bresee Hall and Dalvin Cook. And I was

(20:17):
kidding last hour when I said, oh you can, But
that's how the Jets can win. They can treat it
like it's nineteen eighty five. Was a great defense. You
give the ball a ton to Breese Hall, a ton
of Dalvin Cook. Now, it's a lot of stress to
put on a game and a team to win a
certain way. But when you can do that because you
have that great defense, you have two of the best
running backs in football, you can win.

Speaker 4 (20:37):
That way, right, I mean the Ravens are done. I mean,
you can't tell me that the forty nine Ers have
exactly been winging the ball all over the field the
last couple of years. It's been predicated on running the
ball and playing good defense. The Steelers, even in the
Ben Roethlisberger, even if the total numbers were there, they
were still predicated on a good ground game and a

(20:59):
defense to help hold the day.

Speaker 3 (21:01):
So, yeah, it just makes it tougher to win.

Speaker 1 (21:03):
Sure, margin for error is not that's right, Right, you
get down sixteen to six, suddenly you're not gonna win
that much.

Speaker 3 (21:09):
But you know that puts more on your defense.

Speaker 4 (21:12):
So if it's all about, you know, being lost in
the sauce and tonight you've got a hat trick of interceptions,
I mean, you've got you've got an opportunity to maybe
do some great things. Yeah, are they gonna be Do
they have the great sex appeal game to game?

Speaker 1 (21:26):
No?

Speaker 3 (21:27):
Are you gonna run out and score thirty points a game? No?
But you can grind out wins in this league.

Speaker 4 (21:34):
As long as Legatron stops knuckleball in the damn thing
like he did today. I mean, how many times did
you sweat when when Zerline went to kick? And I
don't know how much of that is the field sogginess
versus something just wrong with the hold and how he's
striking the ball, but some anxious moments in the kicking game.
But defensively, you're gonna be in every game, right, You've

(21:56):
got at every level, You've got playmakers, and Williams just
just roughs everything. And now you add Whitehead being able
to be a ballhawk down the center of the field.
Gardner gets away with whatever, he gets away with it.
We saw that on display again tonight. That's fine, call
him like he's an all Pro and all world guy,
that's fine. But that gives you a competitive advantage. So

(22:18):
as long as Zach Wilson doesn't get put in situation
where he's got to force the ball down field. Because
did we really talk about any other wide receiver for
them tonight? Nozach, it was Garrett Wilson. Five catches thirty
thirty four yards, and that's really it, right. We didn't
really talk about any other wide receivers. It's the run game,
it's the defense, and Garrett Wilson on the tip to himself.

Speaker 3 (22:42):
So this is.

Speaker 1 (22:44):
Now a pretty decent formula. Now, how good is Zach Wilson.
Will Philip Rivers pro play for you guys? Will Carson
Wentzam ready.

Speaker 3 (22:52):
To come play down?

Speaker 4 (22:53):
If Philip Rivers gets called and gets signed to this team,
you should immediately give in your fan card because that
would be about the smooth you can do. Come on,
he's better than Zach Wilson at this point in his life.
Come on, I don't know. You got to try, dude.
Jack Wilson was not great. He made a couple of nights.

Speaker 3 (23:11):
If you're going in the open market and the guy and.

Speaker 2 (23:17):
Braid Braid.

Speaker 3 (23:20):
No question.

Speaker 4 (23:20):
Now a day after making his I'm a Patriot for
life skied.

Speaker 3 (23:24):
Now, let's let's then become a Jet. Let let let's
do that. Here's what let let's do this coming up
in the next few minutes.

Speaker 1 (23:29):
You get all the top backup quarterbacks and quarterbacks available,
and I'll say yeay or nay if the Jets should
go get them. Okay, let let let's do that. But
the Jets win it twenty two to sixteen. Over the bills. Yes,
I called it. I said, aw abut Xavier Gibson punt
return for a touchdown, and it happened. I'm now back
look at the Jets'm gonna buy all kinds of jets

(23:50):
scared tonight, nude jets geared tonight.

Speaker 3 (23:52):
That's weird because none of us heard you call it.

Speaker 1 (23:55):
Uh, I want every get get everybody from the edit
bay and they say they don't know. Actually everybody else
who was outside of Satan heavy door because you've never
heard of him. You could hear me all the way
to v Indurables. You could hear me all the way
to Endura Boulevard.

Speaker 3 (24:07):
Keeople in the uh.

Speaker 4 (24:08):
Hot yoga studio was wondering, while I'll have you know
what's going on over there?

Speaker 1 (24:11):
We had an earthquake. No Jason Smith called a putt
return for a touchdown by the Jets. Why is there
a three year old crying in the hallway.

Speaker 3 (24:19):
Here's how it sounded, and you better play it this
time and.

Speaker 1 (24:22):
Getting away a line drive kick of Sam Mary tell
a Bob which runs under it at the jet thirty
five starts to his left, get to the.

Speaker 3 (24:29):
Forty, turns the corner.

Speaker 1 (24:30):
At the forty five tifty cluck is it fut at
the forty hot the pill starting Hicks out the twenty
start a step to the ten to.

Speaker 3 (24:38):
The pod touchdown. It's a Jet touchdown.

Speaker 1 (24:44):
This game is over?

Speaker 3 (24:46):
What away then Monday Night Football? Gipton's gonna take.

Speaker 1 (24:50):
This one back sixty through large writed touchdown. One of
the last players to make the Jet roster out of
training camp just cook it to.

Speaker 3 (25:03):
The house, so winning it overtime for the Jets.

Speaker 1 (25:07):
Bob was shoosing Jets Radio network on the call. You
know who the happiest person in the world is right now?
Happiest person in the world was.

Speaker 3 (25:13):
He calling the game from his mom's basement. It doesn't
matter where. He travels a lot, Bob, he travels a lot.

Speaker 1 (25:18):
Uh, Hard knocks because Hard Knocks is saying, oh, we
spotlighted that guy in the whole last episode making the team.
They spent half they well, they wouldn't have if they'd
done the old formula. Half the episode on Xavier Gibson
and and and Jason Browne making the team. And here's Gibson,
the hero of the week in the NFL, returning there
because the Jets their special teams are terrible. The special

(25:39):
teams are not very good. And to get a punt
return or a kick return for touch you don't get
them that you get you get one or two punt
and kick returns for a touchdown a year.

Speaker 3 (25:47):
Now.

Speaker 1 (25:47):
I mean you put the over under at total number
of punt and kick returns at three, you're you're you're
fortunate if you get the over. You just don't get
those anymore. They just don't happen. All the kickoffs go
through the end zone and punt returns are very difficult
up and so now especially with directional kicking and what.

Speaker 4 (26:02):
What But that's what I want to ask, the hell
you're kicking it straight down the field goal?

Speaker 1 (26:07):
Come on, man, you got no, no, no, You know
why you don't directional kick? That is because Martin is
the Bills are back in their own end and if
they try a directional kick and they miss, you give
them the ball at midfield. You want to try to
punt that as far as you can and try to
get down there and cover it.

Speaker 3 (26:20):
Well, it still was only a what sixty yard return, right.

Speaker 1 (26:23):
But if you try a directional kick and you miss
and it goes out of you're talking about the Jets
completing two passes to kick a field goal. Huh, it's okay,
let's let's uh well it is too passes with Zach Wilson.

Speaker 3 (26:32):
Yes, you are I was trying to make you are right.

Speaker 4 (26:34):
Yes, rewind that in your brain that there's nothing I
hate more watching NFL game, and not just because this
ends up in a return for a touchdown and you
uh in my worst nightmare of having the glory of
a victory because it was supposed to be a soule
in March after Aaron Rodgers got hurt and instead you're

(26:55):
in the game and you get a victory.

Speaker 3 (26:56):
But is the kick straight down the field? Make the
guy move?

Speaker 4 (27:02):
May go, try to judge a fly ball all right
and give your coverage seem a chance? Instead straight up
he feels it and no one's dearing and gets a
full head of steam before the first run onslaught of attackers.

Speaker 3 (27:16):
I don't know.

Speaker 4 (27:18):
Bad decision, even worse coverage. And when it's all said
and none we get a moment to end what was
one of the stranger week ones in the National Football
League we've seen in sometimes the nose shows the runovers
Aaron Rodgers gets hurt and Josh Allen.

Speaker 3 (27:36):
Forgot how to complete a pass.

Speaker 1 (27:39):
We are just getting this in now, Steep Di sagreal
if Moran that's coming up in a second. You're gonna
hear from Robert Sala at the podium coming up in
a few minutes. But here's what he says right now
about Aaron Rodgers injury. Again, this is just coming in now.
It is an achilles injury for Aaron Rodgers. He does
not have any details, but he said it's not good.

(28:00):
This is what we know. This is from Robert Sola
just moments ago. Aaron Rodgers injury. It is an achilles
injury and it's not good.

Speaker 2 (28:08):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith

Speaker 3 (28:36):
Tire rack dot Com.

Speaker 1 (28:37):
The way tire buying should be Jason, Hey, you gonna
apologize Wilson. Wait, I've always loved Zach Wilson. You guys
got it all twisted. Miss when it went bad, you
cut him loose. You didn't see what I said because
he just jumped in. I said, you got it twisted, mister,
right after replaced twisted system.

Speaker 3 (28:54):
But you had to yell got it loads. I've always
loved Zach. No, no, you have always loved it.

Speaker 1 (28:59):
No, no, no, are you kid cutting up? You cannot
Jersey one Zack Wilson way, okay, number one? Stop maybe
after his mom stop. I never burned to Zach Wilson.
Jersey okay, allegedly Okay, there's no evidence of me burning.
There's none, trust me, there's none.

Speaker 3 (29:19):
There's none.

Speaker 1 (29:20):
You try to find somewhere in the last couple of years,
or I've said something bad about Zach Wilson on the air,
Go ahead, try to find it. You're not gonna find it.

Speaker 3 (29:29):
Really, I don't believe this is easy to find his
walk off win.

Speaker 1 (29:32):
You can't find it. You can't find it. You can't
find it. We don't save stuff here more than for
like eight seconds. We don't probably don't have Robert Sala
talking about his injury anymore because it gets deleted out
of our system.

Speaker 3 (29:42):
That's gone. I've always loved Zach Wilson. I've always loved
and I have no choice.

Speaker 1 (29:47):
But to love Zach Wilson, who now is, as we
heard from Robert Sale a few moments ago, the injury
to Aaron Rodgers four snaps as a Jet and he
goes down with what is now being called an achilles
injury by the Jets head coach. He says it's not good.
They will know more tomorrow. Let's hear that Robert Sala
sound bite again, Ty Sher. Let's get that Robert Sala again.

(30:09):
Here he is from a few moments ago, giving the
devastating news following an emotional, incredible Jets victory.

Speaker 3 (30:15):
All right, I'll deal with the quarterback real quick. Concerned
with his achilles MRI is probably going to confirm what
we think is already going to happen. So prayers tonight.
But it's not good.

Speaker 1 (30:27):
So he's insinuating quot Now he's not Aaron Rodgers. He
ed to the quarterback because we got to go to everybody else.
Now he's that quarterback. Looks like he's going to be
done for the year. And we talked a few minutes
ago about Rogers coming back and playing. And remember this year,
he deferred money to next year, so he's got he's
got a big concience, had a lot of money coming
next year. But this is now a thirty nine year
old Aaron Rodgers trying to come back and play again

(30:49):
in the NFL. We talked about how hard it is
if you ask me if if he'll if he'll play
any another snap for the Jets, I guess say we
may have seen Hi play his last one, maybe maybe
four snaps it out because yes, his age is a
big deal. But the one thing you can see with
with players with Achilles injuries, when you get to be
this age, you don't get back to being the player

(31:12):
you were. You get back to as close as you
can to being the player you were. Right, we talked
about Vini Testaverdy. He happened to the Jets twenty years ago.
Toris Achilles came back to try to play. The next
couple of years wasn't quite the same. That Jets drafted
a new quarterback and Chad Pennington came in and played
for a while. The thing about Rogers is is that Rogers,
and you know, Rogers can say what he wants to
about how he thinks his career is going to go

(31:33):
the next few years. But the Jets weren't hoping Aaron
Rodgers are going to show up and be the Aaron
Rodgers of the MVP from a couple of years ago,
because those days are likely gone. They were hoping he
would be something close to his MVP performance. I was
hoping if you said, what's the ceiling for Aaron Rodgers
this year, I would say, if he's a periphery top

(31:53):
ten quarterback, I'll take that. I mean periphery top ten quarterback,
I will take because that's great for the Jets, because
that's all they need because they're low it everywhere else.
Now you're talking about a guy who going into this
year you would hope to be a periphery top ten quarterback.
Now he's gonna come back after an achilles injury that's
going to keep him out, you know, for most of
for the rest of this year, all the way through
the offseason, and now you're hoping he comes back to

(32:15):
being close to what you were hoping he'd be this year.
So now if I'm thinking I'm looking at Rogers coming
back and being close to the quarterback I was hoping
he was going to be and it wasn't the MVP
Aaron Rodgers again, Is he really going to play for
the Jets again?

Speaker 4 (32:30):
Well, let me throw this caveat two things, because it
really just blowing my mind just thinking about it. If
there was ever a guy to go find some random
alternate treatment to get his.

Speaker 3 (32:41):
Ass back, he's already getting it. I guaran he's the guy.
He's already. I want the documentary.

Speaker 4 (32:46):
This Screw hard knocks, Screw the fact that he went
and visited Broadway and all this other stuff and love
Sabre tooth and all these other things.

Speaker 3 (32:54):
Let's go.

Speaker 4 (32:55):
Let's do the chronicling of the people he seeks out.
I mean, is like Benjamin Bratt and doctor Strange. You
go finding stuff in the Amalayan mountains. Man, Let's go,
let's go find some chaos with Aaron Rodgers and look
from a larger thing. As much as I cringe at

(33:16):
times with the level of attention that it was paid
to everything he said and did over these last couple
of years and certainly since arriving as a member of
the Jets, like I do with all of the deification
of everything going on at Colorado. There you go, it's
two hours seven minutes if you had the over under,
because I'm just swinging past it to make this mine

(33:36):
is that those nauseate me, But they're also interesting and
good for our business, right, because there's a lot else
going on right in this world, and with the NFL
Week one, there are a lot of weird storylines, a
lot of games that you could say, hey, you got
it wrong. No, no, no, the teams didn't show up in play,
so we're wondering what went wrong from the get go,

(33:59):
from the jump of a lot of that. But this
is huge, right. He's a personality, love him or hate him,
and people that didn't like him for his comments and
questioning of handling of things during COVID protocols and science
and debates or whatever.

Speaker 3 (34:14):
That's fine.

Speaker 4 (34:15):
As a football player, I like guys that are you know,
have longevity, that they have legs and they have gravitas.
And when you change teams and especially going to what
has been a perennial dumpster fire and injecting some hope
where you've got a few really top level talents. When

(34:35):
you talk about Williams and you talk about Wilson and
you talk about Gardner. I mean, you've got three of
the top young players in this game to anchor your squad.
That there's a level of excitement and if they can
get back to prominence, it's good for everybody, right, it's
good to get the tongues wagon.

Speaker 3 (34:53):
So him going down and injury wise, as much as.

Speaker 4 (34:56):
We may give you grief and certainly people here are
although I got a say, our guy UCLA Dodger Frank
with the tweet of the world, the video you put
up in the post game where you were cackling like
a madman. Yeah, Jason going with the salacious Crumb slash
Rick Flair matchup because you cackled and then you added
a couple of dramatic whoos, and so I mean it

(35:17):
was really kind of next level stuff. But this this
is a pain for the game. I mean, not only.

Speaker 3 (35:25):
Do we go to the Zach Wilson thing and people
are gonna dismiss him, You'll be one.

Speaker 4 (35:28):
I think he could be okay, right, I didn't think
he'd get the job back quite so fast, but here
we are.

Speaker 3 (35:33):
But some of the alternatives that you start.

Speaker 4 (35:35):
Looking at, going all right, what have we got Zack Wilson,
let's go because what's available on the free? You know,
Frostburg brought up Carson Wentz, Nick Foles, anybody.

Speaker 1 (35:44):
Well. Adam Schefters already put out that potentially the Jets
could be talking to Carson.

Speaker 3 (35:48):
We threw that out.

Speaker 4 (35:50):
He's just trying to redeem himself after that Van Pelt exchange.

Speaker 1 (35:54):
I'm not thrilled with the Carson Wentz. Carson Wentz, he
has shown he can't play quarterback for numerous teams. What
the hell do I want to Oh, he's elite. He
wants right now, Sala's going. Man, my phone is blowing
up with quarterbacks. It's just blowing up with quarterback. You know,
Netflix quarterback should just be about the Jets, all the
people that want to go on the Jets and the Jets.

Speaker 3 (36:16):
Just make it there. Make it about the Jets. They
want people to watch Wentz.

Speaker 4 (36:19):
And then we had Phil Rivers want to go there,
Nick Foles, no, Matt Ryan, no jo.

Speaker 1 (36:27):
If only you had Mike White. Mike White not happening.
He's on Miami. They're not going to go to it. No.

Speaker 4 (36:32):
I mean I started looking at all the backups around
the NFL. And it's it's not good for anybody.

Speaker 1 (36:38):
No, No, the third quarterback. Yea, it's not like folks
are going to say. The only way the Jets make
a move for for a backup in the game is
if it's somebody on a team where a team's got
three guys and they have a pretty solid starter entrenched,
they have a young guy backing them up and the

(36:59):
and theup is just kind of there just to go.
Just but someone like that, it's like an Andy Dalton,
right or Taysom Hill maybe depending on hey, Taysom Hill
play Jameis Winston, Like, that's kind of where you're looking at.
It's going to be a veteran who has made plays
that is expendable from a team because they haven't entrench starter.

(37:21):
They saw their team play. Okay, great, this is good.
You know the young guy we have backing up right now,
that's fine, But teams are really afraid to lose their
second quarterback. Now, it's much harder to trade for a
backup quarterback because you are one play away. Look, we
talked about Harroon Rodger. Here comes Zach Wilson, and Zach
Wilson has got to play the rest.

Speaker 3 (37:40):
Of the season. Seventy five guys started games last year.

Speaker 1 (37:43):
Yeah, it's hard to trade for a guy, so likely
the Jets solution is somebody who's not in the NFL
Right now, Tom Brady, who do you play next week?
We play the Cowboys next week. You don't think Jerry
Jones is going to sell you Cooper Rush. We got
a little bit of a Cooper Rush for But if
you want nack we could give you. Would you like
Trey Lance for a second round?

Speaker 3 (38:02):
Play about that?

Speaker 2 (38:02):
Now?

Speaker 3 (38:03):
About that? Hey, I love Cooper Rush. I'll take Cooper Rush.

Speaker 1 (38:05):
What Zach Wilson, Well, they need somebody else the Jets need,
so Tim Boyle is the other quarterback that they hadn't
Zach Wilson tried to make a tackle with his shoulder
after an interception. I'm I wasn't too thrilled to that.
That's a football player. But I've never said anything bad
about Zach Wills. I have never No, their solution is

(38:25):
somewhere off the field because unless there's a team like that.
But again, teams don't want to give up their guys
like the Cowboys for instance, Right, Cooper Rush. This could
be a Super Bowl year for the Cowboys. Their expectations
changed overnight after last night, right with the way the
defense played against the Giants. Right, so, now here you go,
here's Dak Prescott. If something happens, all right, you know,

(38:45):
Cooper Rush is coming in one game. This is not
a Super Bowl or bust year for the Cowboys. Are
they really going to trade Cooper Rush? Because if something
happens with Dak Prescott, Trey Lance is coming in. They're
not doing it. No chance, they're not doing it. So
the only outcome Tom Brady, the only outcome is from
outside of the NFL. Tom by Keep why not. He
hates Belichick, he hates the Patriots. They fined, the honored

(39:06):
him that speech, They honored him yesterday. Now he can say,
blank you, I'm gonna go play for the Jets. What's
what's what's Tom Brady's oldest son's name, Jonathan Edward Thomas.
What's their initials?

Speaker 3 (39:20):
Jay E? T Jets, Tom Brady Jets. Maybe when he
was born it was aspirational to own a Jet.

Speaker 1 (39:29):
Tom Brady Jets. Well, I'm sure he owns many. Well
now he does, I'm sure he. I mean, he owned
the Jets time. He owned the Jets for two decades
while he played actual Jets aspirational things.

Speaker 4 (39:40):
You know, you're speaking into existence. I'm gonna name my kid,
so his initials are J. E. T. Look, and I
am going to own a super Sonic jet one day. Look, Jason,
who else is out there?

Speaker 3 (39:49):
Real quick? Who else you give to first?

Speaker 1 (39:55):
Oh? Man, we bring Sam back? Why not go go
get Gino Smith? The Seahawks are bomb their season?

Speaker 3 (39:59):
My be over, yes.

Speaker 1 (40:02):
Back they had the worst. That might have been a
worse loss than than the Giants because at least the
Cowboys are good. That is by far the worst coming
when Aaron Donald came up. There's an audio him yelling, oh
my god, when Aaron Donald comes to sack him.

Speaker 3 (40:18):
That really might have been the best of the week.

Speaker 1 (40:21):
But look, but I'll be honest with you. The Jets season,
whatever they're going to do, is on Zach Wilson. Now,
it's completely on him. There's nobody by the time somebody
came in and learned the playbook? Is it someone you
want to turn the team over to, because someone not
in the NFL? Right now, You've you've invested a lot
in making Zach Wilson better. And was he a little
bit better? Tonight. Yeah, he was a little bit better tonight.

(40:44):
He was more confident. He was more confident throwing the
ball downfield. That screen passed to breeseall we had that
little side on action where Breese hall downfield, but interception
was bad. Hasn't had reps. It's gonna be just like
hard Knocks, where Rogers will be on the sideline giving
him advice the entire time going forward. Throw it deep
to Malik Taylor, throws it deep in they gain a bit.

(41:05):
So it's going to be Zach Wilson or Bust. I mean,
it's great to talk about the guys coming in, but
I don't see a team moving a backup quarterback that's
any good because nobody does it anymore.

Speaker 3 (41:14):
And someone coming from off the off the off the street.

Speaker 1 (41:18):
If that happens and they have to go to that guy,
by that time, the season's over running.

Speaker 4 (41:22):
Basically, hang out and earn a little bit of money.
It really doesn't matter. It's Zach Wilson or Busts.

Speaker 3 (41:27):
That's it.

Speaker 1 (41:28):
Four snaps. It's Zach Wilson or bust for the Jets.

Speaker 3 (41:31):
Live in a different world. Four four snaps, four snaps,
