I love putting this content out for you every single night. Now.
(01:08):
Speaking of love, I love and hate. I really I need.
I need the Knicks to win this game, Harmon, because
I can't take Trey Young laughing his ass off every
time he beats the Knicks in Madison Square Garden like, look,
it's so easy, especially after the Knicks blew a six
point lead with eighteen seconds left Becausekarl Anthony Towns doesn't know. Hey,
if you can't inbound the ball, call a time out,
(01:28):
call a time out, don't give it away to the
other team. It was like watching Reggie Miller again all over,
but mainly because I can't take Trey Young. I can't
take Trey Young just laughing like haha, I have this
secret sauce. Didn't do any of it last time when
the Knicks one, But you know he's gonna do it tonight.
It's gonna gonna he's gonna take a jackhammer out and
take count out some of the logo bring it home
with him. I can't have it. I can't have it, Mike.
(01:49):
Can I tell you all the time, right you find
your wins in the day that that you can, I
might expire the next time you might get your ass
handed to you, But when you have an opportunity, need
to celebrate on the opposition's court, especially with all the
expectations that that the Knicks brought into the season, with
all those celebrities, the constant yammering on of Spike Lee
(02:13):
getting onto the court and yelling at you, all of that.
Speaker 3 (02:16):
I mean, there's something to be said for having your
moment there because ye have it in the playoffs, guys,
well do it here.
Speaker 1 (02:23):
No, no, no.
Speaker 3 (02:24):
Like actually playoffs against the Knicks.
Speaker 1 (02:27):
But you get what I pointed, No, I get weird
in anything really substantive other than just living rent free
in your head. Hawks and the Knicks tied at a
couple of minutes to go in overtime, so we'll have
more NBA on the way. But look, two big stories
out of the NFL today and and one's a shocker
and one is seems like it's a shocker, but it's not.
Speaker 4 (02:50):
Uh.
Speaker 1 (02:50):
Saquon Barkley went on the Howard Seern Show earlier today
and was asked about Taylor Swift. Of course he's going
to get the question on that because you know, look,
Howard's doing his thing and dat's about Hey, you think
Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey will get married and instead
Saquon Barkley kind of made a left turn and said
he didn't understand why she got booed and keeps getting
(03:10):
all the hate that she gets. Here's Saquon Barkley from
earlier today.
Speaker 5 (03:14):
I remember they showed her on the jumble tun and
she got booed. I don't get it. I don't get
why she she was getting hate there.
Speaker 6 (03:22):
I didn't like that. Yeah, I didn't like that.
Speaker 5 (03:25):
Porting with significant out there, and she made the game bigger.
You know, we're all about and football. We're all about,
you know, how can we expand the game and make
it more internationally And we're traveling to Brazil and we're
traveling the next to go, and so we're trying to
expand the game and you know, her being a part
of it is only helping there. So I don't I
don't get to the slide guest she would get in, Okay.
Speaker 1 (03:47):
For I think was this I forget, Mike? Was this
Saquon Barkley's first game with the Eagles. Was he new
to the team, Was he new to their fan base
for the Super Bowl? Was that his first game. I mean, dude,
what it was your It was your team's fans that
boot Taylor Swift. What do you mean you don't get
why she was booed. She is a Kansas City Chiefs fan,
(04:11):
She is a tailor.
Speaker 3 (04:12):
She was once upon a time an Eagles fan.
Speaker 1 (04:14):
So that's also a turncoat and right, which again is
why they hate it. Look, I understand I read all
this crazy ass stuff the last few days about how
Taylor Swift got booed and the policies about it and
how and and President Trump is talking about how, oh
it was none of this is political. Okay, just to
stop for a second. Taylor Swift got booed because it's
(04:34):
very simple. A. It was a pro Eagles crowd. You
saw that when when the Chiefs got introduced, you heard
the boods. It was like, boy, it's like they're playing
at Foxborough, my goodness. So you knew it was a
pro Eagles crowd. So you know, anything with the Chiefs
is going to get booed. Yes, when they showed Taylor Swift,
she's going to get booed because the Eagles fans are
louder of it. They're there. They don't like Taylor Swift.
(04:57):
They don't like because she's pumping up the Kansas City.
She she's a chief, and she's been yelling and screaming,
and look, of course there's the bit of fans just
don't like her celebrating on television while she's watching a game,
which again is absolutely stupid. But that's part of what's
going on with the last few years too, is at all.
I don't like that they keep showing her, which which
people just have to find something else to get mad about.
(05:18):
But people still are gonna find you like to be mad,
that's all I know. So of course that's gonna that
that's gonna happen when they show her. If it's a
pro Eagles crowd, especially early on in the game when
everything is wrong, Yeah, they're gonna boore. That's how it goes. Saquon,
this is your DJ, your fans, this is the you
think the Eagles are gonna sit around, and the Eagles
fans are not gonna boot tailors. They were yelling blank
(05:39):
Taylor Swift in the streets burning Kermit the Frog following
the game, and you think I don't understand why Taylor
Swift is getting booed. Dude, you need a tour of Philadelphia.
You need the Mayor of Philadelphia to e L. G. S. E.
S her Way to talk to you and give you
to this is what we're all about. I mean, you've
been there. You know what Eagles fans are like here.
Really you think that there is another reason why she
was getting You don't understand that it was Eagles fans,
(06:02):
who are the majority of the fans. When they show
her on television, she's going to get boot I don't
understand that. Well.
Speaker 3 (06:08):
I mean, I think there's a couple of things in play,
and we've really buried the lead and all of this.
But I'll get to that in a second. Let's bury
it a little bit deeper for a moment. Saquon Barkley
is also on the feel good Look I'm king of
the world right now. I mean, won a Super Bowl
left the Giants goes there, what's he gonna do? Say, Yeah,
that's what I expect from Eagles fans. There are a
(06:28):
bunch of blankety blanks.
Speaker 1 (06:29):
No, he's not.
Speaker 3 (06:30):
He's not gonna lean into it. There'd be like, wow,
you know, it's it's just crazy. I just don't know,
you know, And then he goes on to extol the
virtues of Taylor Swift, what it's done for the game,
what it's meant for all the licensing deals, the dollars
in their pockets, because think about it, I mean they
played in Brazil to start things. A bunch of Saquon
Barkley jerseys get sold because of that, right, So the
(06:52):
international marketing adds to his coffers. Now the burying the
lead part of this. Howard Sturge still talks to people
and has a role. Yeah yeah, yeah, no, no, not
the hell yeah no, I'm still happy.
Speaker 1 (07:02):
I had no idea. Yeah, I mean yeah, I mean
I knew he.
Speaker 3 (07:05):
Was still collected massive paychecks. I just didn't think he
had to do anything for it. And I thought it
was all the best OFS. And here's when we had
fart Man and all sorts of other nonsense, Boby wee
and there's a beetlejuice and all these feeling.
Speaker 1 (07:18):
I really thought it was still that. I thought it
was the best OFS and he was still living off
you know, twenty five years ago. So good for him, hey,
good good, yeah, good for him. Fooey. Now look the
other part of it gets into the whole political ass.
But I'll tell you why this is not political, right,
And look, we never shy away from anything that when
it's a big conversation. But this is irrelevant because I've
(07:40):
seen a lot of well, President Trump just got cheered
when they showed him during the national anthem. Okay, I
understand that. First of all, let's understand this. Zero Chiefs
fans are going to boo Taylor Swift, zero of them, zero,
no matter how you voted out, Taylor Swift is the chief.
She has brought untold recognition to the Chiefs, the fame
(08:00):
and the fortune and Travis Kelcey. She is the chief.
You your holiday movie. Zero Chiefs fans are booing Taylor Swift. Okay,
so that's absolutely out. Secondly, okay, the national Anthem is
a very patriotic time, right, It's a very it's the anthem.
And and look, half the country voted for President Trump, right,
(08:21):
and half the country is happy. Half the country is
not happy. I understand that. But when they show the
president during the national anthem, of course, people who voted
for him and support him are going to cheer, and
the people who didn't vote for him are not going
to start booing during the National anthem. They're just gonna
be silent. So yeah, of course President Trump got an
ovation while Taylor Swift got boo. These are not comparing.
(08:43):
It's not like they show to you know, here's Trump
on the left and here's Taylor Swift on the right,
and there was a there was a mascot with a
thumbs up under Trump's picture, then a thumbs up under
Taylor Swift's picture, and it was cheers and booths. No,
so it's you're comparing stuff that just doesn't That just
doesn't matter, and it doesn't it doesn't equate to anything
during the anthem. Yet every they show anybody in the
(09:05):
crowd and people are gonna cheer. It's look, it's a
it's a patriotic time, and it's not. It's not a
time to boo. It's a time if you don't if
you didn't vote for President Trump, don't support them, you're
not gonna boo. You're gonna be quiet. If you voted
for President Trump supportive, of course you're gonna cheer. Hey,
my president, he's there, and you know Taylor Swift is
a different time. It's okay, here's a game. Oh there's
Taylor Swift here come the Eagles fans booing. It's apples
(09:28):
and oranges when it when it comes to this, and
for Saquon Barkley, Getty felt bad because Taylor Swift has
brought a lot of attention to the NFL. I understand that.
I get all of this, and for Taylor Swift, she's
got to get that. Okay, sometimes I'm gonna get booed
because I'm a Chiefs fan and the other team might
boom me. And that's something that sort of goes along
with the territory. Was it weird that she got booed? Yeah,
(09:50):
but look, she's very out there. She's very out there
to do as a Chiefs fan. Of course she's gonna
get booed. I'm out there as a Mets and a
Jets fan. You're out there as a as a Bay
fan and a White Sox fan. When stuff happens, we
get stuff all the time. All your teams thinks it's terrible.
It says, hey, you know, when you let people know
your opinion on stuff, people are going to criticize you
on it. And her opinion and this is not anything
(10:13):
the opinion. She's a Chas fan. When all the Eagles
fans are here, they're gonna boo like like that's really
what it was.
Speaker 3 (10:19):
Yeah, like the old rule of thumb. You know, show matra,
you know number nine hundred and eighty four. I can't
tell you how to feel. So if you want to
believe that it was politically motivated, have at it.
Speaker 1 (10:30):
Have at it.
Speaker 3 (10:31):
Just your rationale to it. Lays it out on the line.
She's supporting the Chiefs, she's supporting her boyfriend. And you
got an awful lot of Eagle fans.
Speaker 4 (10:42):
Now.
Speaker 1 (10:42):
I know it was.
Speaker 3 (10:43):
More split come game day, but certainly around the city.
What do we keep hearing ratios of eight, nine, ten
to one Eagles fans that made it to the city.
Insert whatever bad, bad jokes you want about, well the
Chiefs supported the tickets and fans fewer or something like that.
I don't know all of that to say, Yeah, you're
(11:05):
not gonna boot during the national anthem.
Speaker 1 (11:07):
You want to get your ass kicked by the guy
behind you.
Speaker 3 (11:10):
Hey, I served here, jerk, and all of a sudden
we got problems in the No, you're gonna shut your
mouth and you're gonna wait for the anthem, the flyover again,
flyovers when you're in a dome stadium.
Speaker 1 (11:21):
I don't know, but it's symbolic. It's part of the
don't worry, it's outside, trust us, but I can't see it.
They trust us. It's outside. We're gonna shut it on
the big screen.
Speaker 3 (11:28):
Wait a minute, Wait a minute, that's the Golden gate Bridge.
Speaker 1 (11:31):
Now wait a minute. Now wait now, I got an
idea here. I got an idea because you know, there's
a technology to do it, and it takes an owner
with really deep pockets to want to do this. But
we need a closed roof that actually when you want
to you can see through to the sky. Oh. I
thought you were gonna say, we pump in the noise,
you know, like the falcons or so many other teams
(11:54):
have been caught doing it. See you can hear it
flying overhead. We pump in the noises of the birds
at the mass. Those birds are not germane to the
Augusta area. Those are birds from US South America, south
of Brazil.
Speaker 3 (12:07):
Is what, no, But you have birds like in the Incredibles.
They're actually on camera.
Speaker 1 (12:11):
Yeah, it's said as some like instead of just a
roof that is that you see all the girders and
the support and you stare up at it. There's got
to be some kind of like planetarium, like a like
the sphere in Vegas, or or we're an omnimax where
oh I could see different things that are up on
the roof. Or it can be transparent and we can
see through the roof to what is going on outside.
And if it's bad weather, then we can make it
(12:33):
look like it's great weather. Right, Make it look like
it's sunny out. Oh, it's awesome. Make it look like
it's sunny. Make it look like it's nighttime. We'll make
it look here, make it look like there's rainbows. I mean,
you want to do it, you can do that. Wow.
Speaker 3 (12:43):
Hey, look we're playing on the moon. That's the next
level stuff right there.
Speaker 1 (12:49):
But I like that. I'll tell you man, I'll explain
Taylor Swift. Now you got new ideas. Okay, So when
Steve Cohen, when you build the new city field, let's
do that all right, because.
Speaker 3 (12:58):
I know you have that cash sudden pull, you know,
put Pete a Lonzo's up at the plate, and what
do we get.
Speaker 1 (13:03):
It's like we're in the Arctic. Uh yeah, he doesn't,
he doesn't. Yeah, And they and they fix the background,
So when the other team is batting, it's just like
an assault of of of jump cuts and camera cuts
and flashing lights Strobe light exit out about a Fresca
exit swollen down. The Jason Smiths Show with the Mike

tapping on the Knicks logo and celebrating after a last
(13:44):
second shot against the Knicks. Martin Weiss has the answer
for a spoiler, I will not have to worry about that.
He's got that in more with what's trending right now
in the wide world.
Speaker 6 (13:53):
Hey listen here Jason Smith one two, seven, eight, nine
seventeen to leave the updates to the pen. This kid.
Speaker 1 (14:04):
Here we go.
Speaker 6 (14:04):
But I saw that initially, I was like, wait a minute,
there's no way he's talking about And then I went
and saw the Twitter. I was like, you know what,
maybe he is man.
Speaker 1 (14:13):
No chance I'm seeing with JJ Reddick now and look
at the Lakers. Look at what the Lakers record was
prior to him feuding with me, and now look at it.
They're getting thumped by the Jazz.
Speaker 6 (14:22):
I mean, I see it. He's clearly distracted.
Speaker 1 (14:24):
Yeah, he yes, he is, he is. Maybe I need
to cut the team.
Speaker 3 (14:28):
Well, it's gonna cost him his job, that's it. Distractions.
Speaker 6 (14:32):
Well, Jason, you were lucky just by the hair on
your chinny chin chin. Did you not have to witness
Trey Young doing his dance in Madison Square Garden? Yet again?
The Knicks beat the Hawks in overtime, one forty nine
to one forty eight. Karl Anthony Towns forty four points
and ten rebounds. Trey Young thirty eight points in nineteen assists,
(14:54):
but she would have needed just one more to go
ahead in and make Jason Smith an unhappy man. Today,
the Cavaliers beat the Raptors one thirty one to one
oh eight, even Mobile had twelve points fifteen rebounds. Pistons
beat the Bulls for the second consecutive night.
Speaker 1 (15:08):
In a row.
Speaker 6 (15:09):
This one was a lot closer, one twenty eight to
one ten, which shows you out last night went Jalen
Durham with sixteen points and fourteen rebounds. The Bucks without
Damian Lillard today he sat out juda a hamstring. He'll
still be available for the All Star events he's committed to.
But Minnesota, I guess, okay, I mean minute my less misspoke.
I'm sorry Milwaukee okay with that, because they did beat
(15:29):
Minnesota one oh three to one oh one. Kyle Kuzma,
the New Milwaukee Buck had thirteen and nineteen points and
thirteen rebounds. Kings beat the Pelicans won nineteen to one eleven,
and the Thunder victorious over the Heat one fifteen to
one oh one. Shay Gilders Alexander thirty two points and
nine assists. The Heat only scoring got the Heat that
(15:49):
scored thirty two to eight in the fourth quarter. Shesh
games going on still currently with three minutes twenty six
seconds left in the fourth bard of the Rockets have
one on nine to one oh four lead over Phoenix
seven oh four left in the third quarter, the Nuggets
making a with a fifteen point lead eighty nine to
seventy two over Portland. Jason Smith said it clearly JJ
(16:12):
Reddick distracted because the second half has not gone well
so far for the Lakers. They're being outscored twenty seven
to fifteen in the third quarter alone, with five to
eleven left in the period. It is ninety one to
seventy one. Lourie Marknen with the twenty six points. See Lebron,
James and Luca. Doncis where that new duo is doing.
Lebron with fifteen points. He's four for six from three.
(16:35):
He's got four rebounds and three assists. Minus eight Luca. Uh,
maybe the Mavericks rondo something. He's got sixteen points, but
he's minus sixteen guys three freight from the floor. Uh,
he's played twenty two minutes. Lebron has played twenty four.
Let's see elsewhere in the league. The Mavericks with a
fifty seven and fifty four lead over the Warriors with
twenty seconds left in the first half.
Speaker 1 (16:55):
Back to you guys, Thanks Martin and not just too
Just to double check here, leverybody know. The Lakers record
this season through game one of the Luca era thirty
two and nineteen, good for first place in the Pacific.
Since JJ Reddick may or may not have started a
feud with me, which I'm about seventy five percent that
he has. They are down twenty at Utah. You do
(17:16):
the math.
Speaker 6 (17:17):
I mean, I see they just beat this team by
twenty just a couple of days ago before now Jason
Smith won to one. Yeah, clearly rent free in the
head YEP, that's.
Speaker 1 (17:26):
How it really broke up to fractured that locker room.
I'm telling you, I mean, man, I mean, who is it?
Speaker 6 (17:31):
Is it?
Speaker 1 (17:32):
I mean the locker room is fractured. His connect on
the sideline guying. Yeah, Smith knew what he was talking about.
Yeah you know, Yeah you know, yeah he knew. He
said the other night start me and Brownie. I don't
know why people aren't.
Speaker 6 (17:44):
Listening to that so far, just just Bronnie James is
on the bench today, has yet to play Delta Connect.
Seven minutes going so far, he's got three points.
Speaker 1 (17:54):

Fame slash Hall of Very Good voter. He is on
Twitter at Jason Cole sixty two. It is the aforementioned
(19:30):
Jason Cole. What's happening, buddy?
Speaker 4 (19:35):
All right, so Hall of Fame, let's just clarify this.
We only put in four guys this year, and you're
still calling it the Hall is very good? What's what's
the what's the.
Speaker 3 (19:47):
Well?
Speaker 7 (19:48):
Listen, this was no this is I think we did
everything to raiate No no, no, no, no, no, no no no.
We raised the standards, you know, like you've been asking
for it hard to get in and it's still a
very good or whatever thing you're saying, right.
Speaker 1 (20:06):
Oh, like you've never heard that before. I don't understand
what this Hall of very Good is. I don't I
understand that. All you did.
Speaker 4 (20:13):
You haven't heard this for fifteen years from.
Speaker 1 (20:17):
All you did was keep Eli Manning out. That's all
you did. That say, Hey, look we're just keeping Eli out. Yeah,
that's how that's how we're calling it the Hall of Fame?
Keeping him out?
Speaker 4 (20:27):
Are you arguing that he deserved to go in?
Speaker 1 (20:30):
Yeah? I thought Eli should have gone in.
Speaker 4 (20:33):
Yeah, Okay, yeah, I mean, because I don't.
Speaker 1 (20:36):
I don't like that that everybody said, oh, look at
Eli and look at the regular season, look at that,
and then yeah, but you know, we had two big
runs in the in the in the playoffs, like no, no,
that's a really big part. That's a really big part
of it. And I don't like that. The the the
argument against it focused on that we're going to diminish
the Super Bowl. Really, you're going to diminish it. You
can diminish the Super Bowls. You're diminishing to soup two
(20:59):
twice super Bowl champ. He went in quarterback.
Speaker 4 (21:02):
We got forty two percent of the votes on my belt,
which is like twenty percent below was the minimum standard
of a first ballot guy would be survey the people
who played in the NFL, the people who coached in
the NFL, the people who are in the Hall of
Fame already, the people who are executives in the NFL.
(21:23):
Looked at Eli Manning, it said mess. That was their reaction.
You know, okay, but no, you know better than them.
Speaker 1 (21:36):
But they looked at Drew Pearson and said, oh no, no, no,
absolutely absolutely guy.
Speaker 4 (21:42):
There was groveling and begging to get Drew Pearson, and
it just despicable getting Drew Pearson to the table. And
you know, and you know Eli likes getting in, you
know way, you know, it took Drew Pearson like forty
years to get in. It's not taking Eli Manning's forty
(22:03):
years to get in. To just stop yourself, Yeah.
Speaker 3 (22:05):
I mean, just like Alan and Sharp. And then eventually
we start clamoring for Luke Keikley. I mean, there's a
lot of guys that we're gonna be waiting on.
Speaker 4 (22:15):
It's okay Luke Ackley has there's a legitimate argument from
people like lud Kickley was the best player on this ballot.
There's a legitimate argument from people who supporting Marshall Yanda
that guy had the best resume on that ballot by far,
I didn't get in. That's the way it goes. The
nine or ten guys who were legitimately Hall of Famers,
(22:37):
and then there's another three or four guys who are
arguable about whether they should be in the Hall of Fame.
That's how I looked at that valid.
Speaker 3 (22:43):
Jake Cole, I just need more guys with panthers logos
on their helmets. So Cam Newton just feels, you know, some.
Speaker 1 (22:50):
Some responsibility or problem with the fact that he did
actually play with a bunch of Hall of famers.
Speaker 4 (22:56):
Where where play with Steve Smith? Steve Smith's going to
be in the Hall of Tame. Don't worry, Campton, go
can't continue whining all he wants.
Speaker 1 (23:12):
Dude, that's my favorite story of the week. Like I
would keep the MVP because I did it, Like nobody
blocked for him, nobody caught past I did. I won
the MVP. What a great teammate he must have been.
I mean, really, I keep going back to boy, what
a great.
Speaker 4 (23:26):
Team kind of guy who will dive on the ground
to protect your chances to win a Super Bowl.
Speaker 1 (23:37):
Oh that's the best. That's funny because it's true.
Speaker 3 (23:43):
All right, With all that said, in the aftermath of
this Super Bowl just gone by, Travis Kelcey now a
little wishy washy after being all bullish, I'm playing for
multiple years just to contract eployer. Maybe more introspective after
a game like that, I think.
Speaker 4 (23:59):
A little more Inswerts back there he's gotten. You know,
you're feeling great, you're thinking about three in a row,
you're energizing, and then all of a sudden, you know,
just because you know, and you're you're done by the
by the second quarter in that game. You know, you're
probably not feeling all jazzed up about football right at
the moment, you know. And look, he's got a lot
(24:20):
of other things going on in his wife, so he
could walk away and nobody's you know, nobody should complain
that the guy walked away right now. I mean, he's
still got some football left in him, but he was
he wasn't in great football shape to begin this year
because he spent so much of last off season, you know,
gallivanting around the globe, which you know, I'm not I'm
(24:42):
not blaming him for that. But he's got other things
in his life, you know, or the you know, a
girlfriend who's kind of powerful and kind of famous. You know,
I'm kind of rich.
Speaker 1 (24:53):
Yeah. But Jay Colt last week he said, I want
to play another three years. I love coming to work
every day, I feel great, I have a lot.
Speaker 4 (25:01):
And then they got their butts kicked in. Okay, and
then it wasn't that much fun, all right. It was
you know, like this is what happens to athletes. They
have reactions after things like this, and they're capricious human beings. Okay,
welcome to Kelsey's world. He's a capricious guy, and so
(25:22):
he may change his mind now. I hope he continues
to play because I think he's a really good player.
I hope he keeps himself in a little bit better
shape this offseason so he's ready to play right from
the start of the year. But he was good enough
at the end of the year that he was a
huge factor for them, right, and he did what they
were asking him to do, and Andy Reid didn't complain.
(25:43):
And the fact is that, you know, the Chiefs got
some other things they got to really fix beyond just
whether Travis Kelcey comes back. Yeah, they could use him
and they'll land, but you better get somebody to block
on the outside, and you better get somebody who's better
than Jawan Taylor who cheats on every single play. Like, yeah,
they've just got to stop. Man. They've moved someone Taylor
(26:05):
to right guard or just move them off the team
or whatever, because I mean it's ridiculous. And you know, Tony,
God bless him. He played is you know, it's hard
out this year, but he ain't a left tackle. It's
thet close. It's ridiculous. And the fact that they got
to a Super Bowl with a line that was that bad,
(26:26):
it's just a testimony to the work that Andy Reid
and Patrick Mahomes combined, the kind of week after week
play calling and sort of game shrinking, like, let's just
keep it close to the vest. We know we can't
play wide open, we know we can't drop back five
and seven steps at any time and protect Mahomes, So
(26:48):
we just don't play a little ball. And they played
a little ball all the way until they couldn't do
it anymore and they finally got you know, got crushed.
So if Kelsea comes back, they're fine. If he doesn't
come back, I think they're still fine. As long as
they fix the offensive tackles. That's more important than whether
Kelsea plays or not.
Speaker 1 (27:09):
Jason call our guest, the Jason Smizer with Mike Carbon
live from the tirerack dot Com studios. All right, so,
so looking back at the side now for Jalen Hurts,
who all of a sudden coming into the game, Jalen
Hurts was no good. Now, Jalen Hurts wins Super Bowl MVP.
You know, we had the conversation a couple of weeks
ago about the true elite, true great quarterbacks in the
NFL that make their teammates better and win games single handedly.
(27:33):
Did Jalen Hurts jump into that small list of players
for you after the game on Sunday?
Speaker 4 (27:38):
No? No, No?
Speaker 1 (27:45):
Three times? Okay, can can you elaborate or this is
Radio laborate on that?
Speaker 3 (27:50):
Oh you gave him but yes, no question, he took
the out.
Speaker 4 (27:54):
Yeah, I gave you three knows he had a terrific game.
He had maybe the best game of his life. You
have to do that more than one time to get
into that group, right, You have to be more consistent
than that. And I like Jalen Hurts. It's just said
during the season, you can win a super Bowl with
Jalen Hurts. You might go to win a couple because
(28:15):
of all the talent around him. Okay, but look, I
think it's fair to say that aside from maybe Jared
Goff and maybe a healthy forty nine Ers team last
year or the beginning of this last season before everybody
you know got hurt, Like, I don't know that there's
another team that has more talent around the quarterback. So
(28:38):
his job. I'm not saying that makes his job easy.
But between that offensive line and the weapons that they
have on the outside, Dallas Goddard and say, go on
part before we get in two thousand yards, like, he's
not tested that often. And so I don't you know,
I don't think he's a truly elite quarterback. But he
(29:00):
fits for what they're trying to do. And you can
win championships with him and probably maybe even multiple championships
with him, so you know, enjoy it. He may you know,
if he puts it together and has some more games
like this and a couple more seasons like this where
he wins the super Bowl, you might be talking about
a Hall of Fame quarterback. You know, he's got that
(29:20):
in him. But I trust him week to week to
make all the throws. He's just not He's a little
bit too erratic as a thrower, and I think he
gets you know, I don't think he's the greatest decision
maker in the world week in and week out. For God,
he played great on Sunday. I mean, he was fabulous
on Sunday. I give it. I give him all the
(29:41):
credit in the world, but you guy to do it
more often than just that game.
Speaker 1 (29:45):
And now he gets to go after it with another
offensive coordinator, Kellen Moore, long destined to be that guy
in New Orleans that shrine those prayers, finally answer it
as he takes the job over. Undrown wins is what
five and a half.
Speaker 4 (30:02):
It might be a little high. That's a that's a teardown, man,
but that's a serious teardown all the way, all the
way to the studs. I don't like, I would love
to know what he said to get that job, and
(30:22):
if he flexed his muscles and said, look, we got
about three or four really good players who are you know,
like Cam Jordan's you know, towards the end of his career.
We got some guys, you know, Derek Carr. We might
be able to move him to another team. But we
really got to tear this thing all the way down
and start all over and probably have to wait not
(30:43):
just this year, but their following year and maybe another
year for Art Manning, you know, like arch Man for Arts,
Like I'm just see everybody thinks that arch Manning is
going to be in next your draft. Like both E
and I and Peyton played all through their senior year.
(31:07):
Like wise, Arts can all of a sudden like just
come out early, especially after he's played only one full season.
I mean, I know they guy's super talent, but they
believe in a guy as a family, as an institution,
as a quarterback factory. They believe in getting a full
college ride of throws, you know, and getting a thousand
(31:31):
throws at that level and getting yourself ready. I think
it's gonna be two more years before he comes out.
I just like, this year is not the year to
take a quarterback. I just don't think it.
Speaker 1 (31:43):
Worse it is. This is when because here's what's going
to happen. The Jets are going to have the worst
record in the NFL. Everybody's going to be great, and
it's going to be twenty years later where another Manning says,
now I'm going back to school for another year. Good luck.
Sorry about that guy. He's on Twitter at Jason Calls
(32:13):
sixty two. That's at Jason Coal sixty two, as he
sings when he's round up check him out thirty thirteen.
Speaker 4 (32:21):
All of same football.
Speaker 1 (32:22):
Voter all right, time to say goodbye, see you buddy,
We'll talk to you next week. You got him now
and in song Land by saying that yeah, no, I
bet you, His wife says to him, why do you
walk around singing that song all the time? I don't understand.
Speaker 3 (32:38):
He bought the full catalog of Riders in the Sky albums.
Speaker 6 (32:41):
Jason, Is that a snake in your boot?
Speaker 3 (32:43):
Is that I sent him the I saw a video
of the behind the scenes with the Riders in the
Sky from their recording.
Speaker 1 (32:53):
Of that song all those years ago. That's not a
snake in my back. Uh. Time to find out what's
trending right now in the wide world of sports. Martin
Wit has it all right now. What you got MMed up?
Speaker 6 (33:06):
What I got right now is a furious Steve Kerk.
I mean I saw him.
Speaker 1 (33:10):
He's like the new Mick Cronin where every game it's like,
what's he mad at? This time? He's mad at something.
He's really really mad. This season, especially Jason, he's been mad.
He just seems like he's fired up, yelling at folks.
Speaker 6 (33:22):
You got a technical foul Draymond Green getting between him
and the officials. So that's how you know things are
falling off the rails.
Speaker 3 (33:30):
I think also wearing the really terrible uniforms.
Speaker 1 (33:32):
Helped, yes, because those are awful.
Speaker 3 (33:35):
It look like old Nicks or Pistons uniforms.
Speaker 6 (33:39):
They are awful. But you know what, Mike, you know
the number one thing that bugs me about this clip
as I'm watching Steve Kurry, Oh why Steve Kurk dressed
like a middle school gym teacher. Why can't we go
back to ties? Why can't we go back to shirts
and ties?
Speaker 1 (33:51):
Have that? We are in a casual era now in
this country, and I love the casual era.
Speaker 3 (33:55):
I think everybody should look like George Raveling myself.
Speaker 6 (34:00):
Well, listen, if you want to do radio casual that's
one thing. Coach of basketball, put on some Tom Ford's
all right, anyway, somebody be able to afford a ton
of Tom for that's Alex Bregman. He just agreed to
a three or one hundred and twenty million dollars deal
with the Bofton Red Sox to play third base over there.
That forty million dollars average annual value ties him with
Aaron Judge for the Forest heist in baseball, so Soto,
(34:23):
Tany and Zach Wheeler the other three this show to
show you how sports are crazy. That's also the same
deal that Brandon Ingram just signed. Although Bregman has player
opt outs for each of the three years. Brandon Ingram
only has one for the last season, but this goes
three years. One hundred and twenty million not made equal
across sports. Steve Kerr again he did during this Dallas
Mavericks Golden State Warriors game Dallas right now with a
(34:46):
ninety one to eighty two lead with about ninety minutes
left in the fourth quarter. Jimmy Butler with fourteen points,
seven assists, and seven rebounds, and he just actually just
made a got a rebound and a put back right there.
So Ky Irving with thirty points and six rebounds. At
the half, the Clippers lead the Grizzlies sixty six to
sixty three.
Speaker 1 (35:06):
You know, sometimes, marn't we do an update. I think
that's that's the game that Martin Weiss has an in
game wager on. He's got an InCAR. I just saw
the layup right there that I needed that layup, big
assist right here. I got that right now. It's good. Now,
it's good.
Speaker 6 (35:20):
Yeah, you're not off, You're not off. I already lost
my bet today, which was the Pacers against the Wizards.
They lost enough. They won in overtime by four against
the lowly Wizards. The line was nine, So there you go.
Martin Weiss off to a great start tonight.
Speaker 1 (35:34):
Sorry about that.
Speaker 6 (35:35):
It's all good. I did better than the Miami Heat though,
because they were outscored thirty two to eight in the
fourth quarter. On the way to way one fifteen to
one hundred and one Oklahoma City thunder win shake Gilgess
Alexander had thirty two points and nine assists. The Knicks
beat the Hawks in overtime, one forty nine to one.
Forty eight. Defense optional. Karl Anthony Towns had forty four
points and ten rebounds. Trey Young added thirty eight points
(35:58):
and nineteen assists. Yeah, they people did play some defense
in this game. I promise Lakers fall to one and
one in the Luka Doncic era, or also the JJ
reddi Verus Jason Smith Era. In a one point thirty
one to one nineteen loss to the Utah Jazz Lebron
James had eighteen point six rebound, seven assists, Luka Doncic
sixteen point four assists, four rebounds in twenty three minutes
(36:19):
of action. Scouring the postgame press conferences to see have
any more mention of Jason Smith seventeen seventy eight, UH
free agent guard Markel Fuls agreed to a deal to
join the Sacramento Kings. Canada beat Sweden the first game
of the four Nations faced off four to three. In
college basketball, Villanova upset nineth Ranks Saint John's seventy three
to seventy one.
Speaker 1 (36:39):
Back to you, guys, thanks a much, markin appreciate it, buddy.
The Jason Smiths are with the Mike Harmon live from
the Tirack dot Com studios. Coming up next, right, we
had to have the big news of Alex Bregman earlier
this hour. But straight ahead, do we have a quarterback
story for you? Someone says I'm willing to take less
money next year to sign big players. Does this mean
he's gonna be with the team law long term? About that?
(37:03):
That's next, Radio Jason and Mike Fox Sports Radio.
Speaker 2 (37:06):
Be sure to catch live editions of The Jason Smith
Show with Mike Harmon weekdays at ten pm Eastern, seven
pm Pacific on Fox Sports Radio and the iHeartRadio app

That's my phdweightloss dot com. We got more NBA on
(37:38):
the way. Big night in the NBA, the Knicks hold
off Tray Young, who will not be taking a piece
of the garden with him back to Atlanta. But uh,
you know, I feel like every day there's gonna be
something with either Taylor Swift or Travis Kelce. Travis Kelsey
Taylor Swift. We talked about the Taylor Swift situation a
few minutes ago, and now today we find out that
Travis Kelce is gonna take a little bit of time
(38:00):
before he decides his NFL future. On the New Heights
podcast with Jason Kelsey today, he said, Hey, you know what,
gonna take some time, a little bit of reflective and
then see where I want to go about the rest
of my NFL career.
Speaker 8 (38:12):
I know everybody wants to know whether or not I'm
playing next year, and right now I'm just kicking everything
down the road. I'm kicking every can I can down
the road and I'm not making any crazy decisions, but
I right now, the biggest thing is just being there
for my teammates. And you know, I've been fortunate over
the past five six years. I've played more football than
(38:33):
anybody and it's because the people that are in that
building and the fact that we keep going to these
AFC Championships and these Super Bowls, and that means I'm
playing an extra three games more than everybody else in
the in the entire league. And that's a lot of
wear and tear on your body, and it's a lot
of time spent in the building, focusing on your craft,
(38:53):
focusing on the task at hand, every challenge that you
set up for yourself.
Speaker 1 (39:00):
Yeah, that's a load of crap. Okay, it was. It
was all leading up to the Super Bowl. What do
we hear from Travis Kelcey. I feel great? Why wouldn't
I want? I want to play three more years? Right?
Why wouldn't I want to keep playing? I love the game?
I love everything about it. This is fandom. Why would
I not want to do this? And now after losing
the Super Bullets, Oh, I'm gonna take a lot of
(39:20):
time and I'm gonna make some time. No Again, when
you see something like this doesn't make sense. Understand, he's
coming to the last year of his contract, right, He's
coming to the last year as contract. He's got eleven
million dollar bonus, nineteen million dollars in salary. It would
be a two and a half million dollar dead cap hit.
Travis Kelcey doesn't go in a week from I love this.
I want to keep going as long as part two.
(39:41):
Now I'm going to decide. No, he's coming to the
last year of his contract. He wants to keep playing,
so he's gonna do this. If it was about off
the field and the conversation of well, Travis Kelcey's a
big podcast now makes a lot of money for that, Yeah, no,
he does. And if that was the case, Travis Kelsey
would say, I'm going to play NFL for one necond
tur not gonna throw your nose a twenty million dollars. Okay,
(40:01):
how much money you're making for podcasts. You're not making
twenty million dollars. Once you finish playing football, you're done.
So he's got He would say, I'm going to do
one more year and that's it, which is probably what's
going to wind up going anyway. Because he's not quite
the player that he was in the past. But this
is all about a contract. Is he going to wind
up getting more money to keep playing football and keep
doing what he's doing and have this incredible life where
(40:23):
he he's a superstar in the NFL and he's dating
Taylor Swift. He's a globe trotter, and everywhere he goes
he makes news. You understand that when you stop playing
a little bit of that attention goes away. There's plenty
of time to be a podcaster or plenty of time
to do all of this. But this is about him.
Oh okay, suddenly his contract, he's up going into the
final year of his deal, and what's going to happen? Right,
(40:45):
This is exactly how it goes. Everybody that suddenly changes
their tune, just go look at what their contract situations.
You go, oh, now, I understand what's going on. All
he's trying to do is to play it out, get
a new deal from the Chiefs, try to go forward.
He's still a top five ish tight end in the NFL.
I would say he still had ninety five catches last year.
Not quite again, not the number one guy, not the
(41:06):
number two guy. Anymore, but still top five, top six guy.
When you're in your mid thirties, that's pretty good. So
it's not like he's fallen off. He said as recently
as five digs ago. He still wants to play and
wants to keep playing. So yeah, understand that this is
part of the dance that comes in the offseason.
Speaker 4 (41:22):
Yeah.
Speaker 3 (41:22):
I think the big thing you mentioned the dollars that
are due to him.
Speaker 1 (41:26):
Chiefs would be more than happy to get out of
that with a very low dead cap hit for it
to go away, or Travis, you want to continue playing.
You know, you can skip training camp, whatever else and
go down the Gronk Highway, but you need to be
in top notch shape. And when there's no chance in
hell we're paying you anywhere near what you were expected
to get, incentive lated neal, Let's do a one in one,
(41:50):
let's do a two year deal. Whatever, reboot this. But
we got to get some of that money back. Why
because we got work to do. We got a bunch
of offensive linemen we need to bring in.
Speaker 3 (41:59):
We got a lot of things we need to fix.
Speaker 1 (42:02):
We talked about the hard reboot. Wherever you get your
podcasts going download to give it five stars, We'll love
you forever. We got Bill and a couple of other
guys coming and chiming in on Twitter at how about
a prescat swollen dome. Just remind Jason I'm a Chiefs
fan and I hate Taylor Swift. Just kind of throwing
it out there. I mean, we are getting a little
bit of folks want their voice to be heard.
Speaker 3 (42:21):
But yeah, certainly, you know, contemplative, trying to be respectful
of the process, especially as there's a lot of negativity
and it's like, all right, let's brush it off a
little bit by saying, yeah, we've got to think about it,
versus Nah, you're stuck with me.
Speaker 1 (42:36):
Ah here I am. I don't think Jus fans would
want to hear that right now.
Speaker 3 (42:40):
I think they'd like a little bit of a cooling
off period and a more contemplative thing. But for him, sure,
it's a decided change of tone after a couple of
drops not being able to connect with Mahomes catches he
used to make routinely, and that they didn't have to
be perfect balls. He would always be able to go
and need snag the balls behind him or whatever, And
(43:02):
in this case, I mean those were down distance, easy
things early in the game that would have sustained drives
instead of three and outs and putting the ball back
in the hands of the Eagles. So yeah, it's one
of those Let it just state and keep it in
the news and cycle too, right, because if he says
(43:23):
definitively he's done, they don't get to carry this forward. Jason,
come on, it's like a telenovela.
Speaker 1 (43:29):
Let's go. We've got to drag this out opening night,
February third. Hopefully I'm still playing football in three years.
I love doing this. I love coming into work every day.
I feel like I still got a lot of good
football left in me. Oh but now he doesn't know
what he wants now, he doesn't know everybody's got a
play until they're punched in the mouth. Shenanigans more from
(43:50):
the NBA, and a big quarterback story out of the NFL. Next,
This is Fox
